- 2:40Speaker 4: The guy known as the West Virginia Pickle Guy at
- 2:42Speaker 4: Troy Stiffler. He joins us via the Guarantee Bank scotline.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Troy will say good morning to you to start with
- 2:48Speaker 4: good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Good morning guys. It's glad to be on here and
- 2:52Speaker 5: looking for a great event this weekend.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Okay, I got to ask you, how does one acquire
- 2:57Speaker 4: the title of the West Virginia Pickle guy.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Oh gosh, it started four years ago. I had this
- 3:03Speaker 5: idea about creating a pickle company with lots of different flavors.
- 3:09Speaker 5: We were in the beef turkey business for a long time.
- 3:12Speaker 5: I owned all the beef turkey alet stores throughout West
- 3:14Speaker 5: Virginia and South Carolina, and I knew the flavors that
- 3:18Speaker 5: would sell. And I told my wife one day, I said,
- 3:20Speaker 5: I have an idea of these pickles. It's one to
- 3:23Speaker 5: one hundred of people who enjoy them. And I started
- 3:25Speaker 5: putting the flavors together, and four years later it's created
- 3:28Speaker 5: the Trantosaurus Wreck.
- 3:32Speaker 4: So we see you at a lot of different fairs
- 3:34Speaker 4: and festivals in and around the state of West Virginia.
- 3:36Speaker 4: What is it about the What is it about pickles
- 3:38Speaker 4: that fascinated you so much?
- 3:39Speaker 6: Oh?
- 3:40Speaker 4: Other than just a business opportunity? Had to be more
- 3:42Speaker 4: to it than that.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, there was more than that. You know, everybody
- 3:46Speaker 5: loves pickles, and that's when I looked for business ventures.
- 3:49Speaker 5: I look for something that has a large audience. And
- 3:52Speaker 5: if you look at who enjoys pickles. It's from small
- 3:54Speaker 5: children to ninety year old men, and you know, there's
- 3:58Speaker 5: a love for that out there. And fortunately I've got
- 4:01Speaker 5: into it right when the pickle craze has taken off,
- 4:04Speaker 5: and you know they do pickled potato chips, pickled ice cream,
- 4:07Speaker 5: pickleed Sherbert, I mean, anything you could pickle, they are
- 4:10Speaker 5: doing it right now, and it's just been amazing. The
- 4:13Speaker 5: state has supported us tremendously. I mean we've been shipping
- 4:17Speaker 5: to all fifty states and it's just been an honor
- 4:20Speaker 5: to do what I do here in the beautiful state
- 4:22Speaker 5: of West Virginia.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Now, Sean, what was it about this that appealed to
- 4:25Speaker 4: you guys with the city of South Charleston and the
- 4:27Speaker 4: farmers market to want to do this.
- 4:28Speaker 7: Well, so we kind of see, you know in other
- 4:30Speaker 7: states as there's the pickle fest are very big there.
- 4:34Speaker 7: And I actually went and visited Picklesburg, which is up
- 4:37Speaker 7: in Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago. I've been there, Yeah,
- 4:40Speaker 7: and there was every bit of four or five thousand
- 4:41Speaker 7: people there. Yeah. So you know, one day we were
- 4:44Speaker 7: just sitting there and you know, the pickle guy was
- 4:46Speaker 7: s up at the market. We just we just kind
- 4:48Speaker 7: of decided to do.
- 4:48Speaker 4: It, and so give us all the details. What's going
- 4:51Speaker 4: to be going on over there, Sean.
- 4:53Speaker 7: Yes, So it's this weekend Saturday, its nine to six,
- 4:56Speaker 7: Sundys eleven to five, and we have about a a
- 5:00Speaker 7: little bit over twenty pickle themed vendors there. So we'll
- 5:04Speaker 7: have pickle you know, the different flavor, pickles, baked pickle,
- 5:08Speaker 7: baked goods. There's pickled cheese balls. There's just gonna be
- 5:11Speaker 7: a little bit of everything.
- 5:12Speaker 4: He's right, I mean, the pickle Guy's right, Troy. When
- 5:15Speaker 4: you talk about the pickle craze right now, I thought
- 5:17Speaker 4: I'd seen it all, but then, you know, several months
- 5:20Speaker 4: ago I saw for the first time Peraps blue Ribbon
- 5:22Speaker 4: pickle flavor and I said, Okay, that may be a
- 5:24Speaker 4: bridge too far.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Yeah, that pickle beer. We did an event with that
- 5:28Speaker 5: Greenbrier Valley Brewery there just a few months ago and
- 5:31Speaker 5: they introduced their pickle sour beer and that's amazing. But
- 5:35Speaker 5: it's everything I mean, and it is I don't see
- 5:38Speaker 5: no import in the future. And I think the event
- 5:41Speaker 5: that we're going to have in Charleston this year for
- 5:43Speaker 5: the first time in South Charleston. Then they've got a
- 5:46Speaker 5: special venue there. The great thing about the South Charleston
- 5:49Speaker 5: Farmers Marketer is they've got a core of great people
- 5:52Speaker 5: that set up there all the time that are great vendors,
- 5:54Speaker 5: great people just trying to work hard. And it's just
- 5:58Speaker 5: an awesome facility. It's easy to get to and I
- 6:01Speaker 5: think this is just another way adding a special event
- 6:04Speaker 5: to bring people out. If you're not busy this weekend,
- 6:06Speaker 5: come out and try it. It's free to get in.
- 6:08Speaker 5: They're asking for a donation for local charitable organization, and
- 6:12Speaker 5: you know what better way kid friendly pickles. You can't
- 6:16Speaker 5: beat it.
- 6:17Speaker 4: And Seohan, you were telling me that you know there
- 6:19Speaker 4: is a chance of rains we talked about in the
- 6:21Speaker 4: forecast on Saturday, So the event's still going to go on.
- 6:24Speaker 4: You just might have to move some things around a
- 6:25Speaker 4: little bit. Comes on Sunday.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 6:27Speaker 4: That looked like a better chance of rain is Sunday
- 6:29Speaker 4: than Saturday, so you may have to move some things
- 6:30Speaker 4: around a little bit, but you're still going to.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Have this, Yes, yes, all right.
- 6:34Speaker 4: I want to ask you, Troy, about what exactly goes
- 6:38Speaker 4: into making good pickles. I mean, I don't want you
- 6:41Speaker 4: to give away your trade secrets. Okay, but I mean,
- 6:44Speaker 4: you know, everybody's grandma made pickles, maybe not like you do,
- 6:47Speaker 4: not to that, not to that extent, But what is
- 6:50Speaker 4: it that makes good pickles?
- 6:52Speaker 2: What's your what's your what's your story behind it?
- 6:55Speaker 5: You know, there's all kinds of different pickles, and we
- 6:57Speaker 5: chose to do a Colebrian pickle. And I think it's
- 7:00Speaker 5: starts with, you know, a fresh cucumber that's right at
- 7:03Speaker 5: that crispy point, and to make sure that they're sold
- 7:07Speaker 5: right when they're fresh and ready. So if you've tasted
- 7:09Speaker 5: our pickles, we do about fifty different flavors in our line.
- 7:12Speaker 5: Now this weekend we'll have about twenty two different flavors
- 7:16Speaker 5: with us. And most importantly is is that crunch. And
- 7:19Speaker 5: so when you bite into that pickle, if it's not crunching,
- 7:22Speaker 5: you know, we've all had our grandma pickles where worth
- 7:24Speaker 5: candom over the years and they're soggy, Not to say
- 7:27Speaker 5: that they're terrible, but yeah, one hundred percent when you
- 7:30Speaker 5: have that nice crisp crunch, and that's what makes it,
- 7:34Speaker 5: you know, And the other part of it is is
- 7:36Speaker 5: having a large variety of flavors. You know how many
- 7:38Speaker 5: different flavors. Well have cherry kool Aid sour blue Raspberry
- 7:42Speaker 5: this weekend, Bloody Mary, Slap your mama?
- 7:45Speaker 2: What does to slap your mama?
- 7:46Speaker 1: Troy?
- 7:46Speaker 2: I got to ask, what does to slap your mama?
- 7:48Speaker 5: Well, slap your Mama is a creole seizing from Louisiana
- 7:51Speaker 5: that I as spicy ol Bay. It's a really great flavor.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Another fan favorite we just I'm actually in the pickle
- 7:58Speaker 5: warehouse right now. We're working on it is our brown
- 8:01Speaker 5: sugar bourbon, our pineapple have a narrow and so these
- 8:04Speaker 5: are all signature flavors that I've worked diligently to get
- 8:07Speaker 5: the recipes correctly, and they come out really well.
- 8:11Speaker 4: I mean it almost sounds like the flavors of pickles
- 8:14Speaker 4: mirror wings, you know, because all those ones that you mentioned,
- 8:17Speaker 4: they also make wings like that. What is the most
- 8:20Speaker 4: exotic one that you make?
- 8:23Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, it would have to be in the
- 8:27Speaker 5: kool Aid flavors. I mean, we do a we did
- 8:30Speaker 5: for you know, we know it's apple season coming up,
- 8:33Speaker 5: and so this weekend we did a sour apple, a
- 8:38Speaker 5: sour green apple, and I tasted it yesterday and I
- 8:40Speaker 5: couldn't believe how good diditate really?
- 8:42Speaker 4: Okay, now see, I'm a fan of the spicy pickles.
- 8:45Speaker 2: My wife and I both like those.
- 8:47Speaker 4: I like the spice, and you know, I don't want
- 8:49Speaker 4: to like, I'm not gonna go all Carolina Reaper or
- 8:51Speaker 4: anything like that, but I do like a little heat.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I'm sure you offer plenty of those.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Oh yeah, we have all kinds of spicy. My personal
- 8:58Speaker 5: favorite probably in the line ranches, our most popular and
- 9:01Speaker 5: our number one sellar. But my personal favorite is probably
- 9:04Speaker 5: our sweet Horse radish. And it's a nice sweet savory
- 9:08Speaker 5: with some spice on the back end. It's great for
- 9:10Speaker 5: burger steak sandwiches. We make spicy chicken salad with it.
- 9:14Speaker 5: So there's lots of different pairings you can do with
- 9:16Speaker 5: our pickles too, So that makes it need. We've done weddings,
- 9:20Speaker 5: all kind of different stuff with our pickles.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Well, I will say this, this is a little culinary
- 9:26Speaker 4: hint from my wife and I use a lot when
- 9:28Speaker 4: we make tuna salad, chicken salad, anything like that little
- 9:32Speaker 4: pickle juice, and especially the spicy kind. It gives a nice,
- 9:37Speaker 4: a nice little zin.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Yeah, we have our pickle. We will have our pickle
- 9:40Speaker 5: juice on site this year. That was one of our
- 9:43Speaker 5: goals for our two thousand and six it's to bottle
- 9:46Speaker 5: our pickle Brian. We got a lot of requests for
- 9:48Speaker 5: pickle juice, So this weekend we'll have our classic excuse me,
- 9:52Speaker 5: our Classic Deal, our deal lemonade, and our Bloody Marry
- 9:56Speaker 5: pickle juice will be on hand this weekend at the Pickle.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Festival and Sean who are some of the the vendors
- 10:00Speaker 2: are going to be there.
- 10:01Speaker 7: So we actually have one come from Ohio. It's called
- 10:03Speaker 7: the Crazy Cucumber. They're normally set up at the Hunting
- 10:06Speaker 7: and Fishing Show, so they'll be there as well, with
- 10:09Speaker 7: about fifteen to twenty different pickle flavors as well, and
- 10:12Speaker 7: then we have them coming from Fayette County with pickle
- 10:16Speaker 7: cheese balls. Then a lot of our core vendors there
- 10:19Speaker 7: will also be offering things like super Weeny. He's gonna
- 10:22Speaker 7: offer a pickle theme hot dog, so he'll be offering that.
- 10:25Speaker 7: Are our meat vendor is going to offer a pickle
- 10:28Speaker 7: Brought Worst Pickle Brought.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a new one.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 7: So there's going to be about twenty twenty one vendors
- 10:35Speaker 7: there will have pickle theme items.
- 10:37Speaker 4: And there's but if you're not into pickles, number one,
- 10:39Speaker 4: you're a communist. But but if you're not into pickles,
- 10:42Speaker 4: there are other things there too. I mean your other
- 10:45Speaker 4: regular vendors are going to.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Be there too. Yes, they'll be there.
- 10:47Speaker 7: They'll also offer I mean they're gonna they're gonna for
- 10:49Speaker 7: pickle bait goods, but they also have their other they're
- 10:52Speaker 7: not regular bait goods as well.
- 10:53Speaker 2: And you got music. You said you have music, and
- 10:55Speaker 2: you got stuff for the kids.
- 10:56Speaker 8: So yeah, the kids owned.
- 10:57Speaker 4: It's going to be a great, a great time. It's
- 10:59Speaker 4: a Saturday night, a six pm Sunday, eleven til five. Hey,
- 11:02Speaker 4: Pickle Guy, Troy, It's been a pleasure having you on
- 11:04Speaker 4: the show today. Can't wait to see you this weekend.

- 11:20Speaker 4: things going on, Like every weekend, there's something big going

- 13:55Speaker 14: You may think speeding a little isn't really speeding, but
- 13:58Speaker 14: even a few miles over the limit has consequences. First,
- 14:02Speaker 14: there's the fine. Your first offense could cost you one
- 14:05Speaker 14: hundred dollars plus court costs, and you'll pay a lot
- 14:07Speaker 14: more if it's your second or third offense. Eventually, you

- 15:30Speaker 4: If you need more information, visit the Logan Regional Medical
- 15:33Speaker 4: Center Facebook page. Next Wednesday, the twenty twenty six West
- 15:37Speaker 4: Virginia Disability Resource Fair is going to be held eleven
- 15:39Speaker 4: to one, fourteen eighteen mccorkill Avenue, Southwestern charlest Anita Hobbs,
- 15:44Speaker 4: who is the CEO and Executive director of the West
- 15:47Speaker 4: Virginia Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, joins us in the studios
- 15:51Speaker 4: and Share Construction studios.
- 15:52Speaker 2: This morning, Good morning, welcome to the show.
- 15:53Speaker 6: Glad to be here.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Tell us what are you got going on that day?
- 15:57Speaker 6: Yeah, we have a Disability Resource Fair. This is our
- 16:00Speaker 6: third year that we're doing it. We actually have two
- 16:03Speaker 6: going on on that day. We have one here in
- 16:05Speaker 6: Charleston and one Up and Wheeling. So what we're doing
- 16:09Speaker 6: is we are connecting people with disabilities with what resources
- 16:13Speaker 6: we have in the area. So whether it's their families,
- 16:16Speaker 6: their caregivers, you know, or the individuals themselves looking for
- 16:20Speaker 6: what can I do? So my organization we special and
- 16:23Speaker 6: specialize in helping people find a job, but we often
- 16:26Speaker 6: find that employment's just the start, right life is the journey.
- 16:29Speaker 6: So we are bringing together twenty five exhibitors from around
- 16:32Speaker 6: the Charleston area and their organizations wo provide things like benefits, counseling,
- 16:38Speaker 6: financial counseling, music therapy, traveling with the disability, vacation support,
- 16:44Speaker 6: things like that. So we are really taking the great
- 16:48Speaker 6: organizations that we have here in the Charleston area and
- 16:51Speaker 6: hosting this free event to show our community what we've
- 16:54Speaker 6: got going on and what resources they have.
- 16:56Speaker 4: What's the biggest misconception that you all deal with with
- 16:59Speaker 4: folks with with disabilities.
- 17:01Speaker 6: Definitely what constitutes a disability? Right, So we all see
- 17:05Speaker 6: visible disabilities, but disability can be a wide range of things.
- 17:09Speaker 6: Substance use disorder here in West Virginia is a big one,
- 17:12Speaker 6: of course, that's considered a disability anxiety, diabetes, So a
- 17:17Speaker 6: lot of times somebody might be dealing with a disability
- 17:20Speaker 6: and you don't even know. Partial hearing loss can be
- 17:23Speaker 6: a disability. So it's really just thinking about, you know,
- 17:27Speaker 6: not the disability as you know, some strange thing out here,
- 17:31Speaker 6: and realizing that your friends, your neighbors, your family, most
- 17:34Speaker 6: people have a disability here in West Virginia, and we
- 17:36Speaker 6: have the highest rate of disability in the nation. One
- 17:39Speaker 6: in three of our community members have a disability, so
- 17:43Speaker 6: really in three, one in three, one in three. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 6: it's huge. And then we also have the highest rate
- 17:49Speaker 6: of unemployment in the nation of those people with disabilities.
- 17:54Speaker 6: So that's of course where my nonprofit comes in. We're like, hey,
- 17:57Speaker 6: we've got these people who want to work. There's a
- 17:59Speaker 6: job shortage or a worker shortage crisis out there. Let's
- 18:03Speaker 6: go ahead and let's let's get people jobs and put
- 18:06Speaker 6: people who want to work to work.
- 18:07Speaker 4: And they can do so many different things. I mean,
- 18:10Speaker 4: is there there's no limit as to what these folks
- 18:11Speaker 4: can do, right.
- 18:12Speaker 6: Yeah, And that's another misconception that's a good point to
- 18:15Speaker 6: bring up. Sometimes employers think that, you know, hiring somebody
- 18:19Speaker 6: with a disability might be really expensive, you know, in
- 18:22Speaker 6: terms of accommodations, you know, or a big investment. A
- 18:26Speaker 6: lot of times it's just shifting your training a little bit.
- 18:29Speaker 6: And so most of the accommodations to be able to
- 18:31Speaker 6: employ somebody with a disability, there's no cost at all.
- 18:34Speaker 6: It's just kind of helping your staff understand, you know, hey,
- 18:38Speaker 6: they might need a little bit more instruction or approach
- 18:41Speaker 6: this task a little bit differently. So, yeah, it's definitely
- 18:45Speaker 6: capable workers out there who really want to contribute to
- 18:47Speaker 6: the community.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Talk about the partnerships with the businesses because that is
- 18:51Speaker 4: so important that you have some you know, some businesses
- 18:54Speaker 4: that are willing to step because I mean, somebody's got
- 18:56Speaker 4: somebody's got to write to pay checks, you know what
- 18:57Speaker 4: I mean to talk about those partnerships with businesses, Now,
- 19:00Speaker 4: how important there.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Yeah, So I work with twenty three nonprofits across the
- 19:03Speaker 6: state who employ people with disabilities. I help them do
- 19:07Speaker 6: business with state agencies. So we're out there more than
- 19:10Speaker 6: you think. We do janitorial and grounds maintenance at rest areas.
- 19:14Speaker 6: We have wood shops that make survey stakes for the
- 19:17Speaker 6: Departments of Highways. We do water cooler delivery. Really if
- 19:22Speaker 6: there is a product or a service that we're able
- 19:24Speaker 6: to provide, we do it and we put our people
- 19:28Speaker 6: to work. So those are the organizations that I really
- 19:31Speaker 6: try to empower and make sure that we are highlighting
- 19:34Speaker 6: everything that they are able to do. So they specialize
- 19:38Speaker 6: and we call it vocational rehabilitation and basically all that
- 19:42Speaker 6: means is employment support. So it's not just getting someone
- 19:45Speaker 6: a job, but it's also making sure that they have
- 19:49Speaker 6: the little things that they need to be successful. And
- 19:52Speaker 6: it can be so much as Okay, I have a paycheck,
- 19:55Speaker 6: Now what do I do with it? So wv able
- 19:58Speaker 6: is a great partner. They're a savings account to help
- 20:01Speaker 6: you know, people navigate maybe I want to keep my
- 20:05Speaker 6: Social Security benefits or maybe I want to get off
- 20:07Speaker 6: my Social Security benefits. How do I have a savings account?
- 20:09Speaker 6: And how do I navigate that?
- 20:11Speaker 2: Talking with Anita Hobbs again, but Dave Island Show on
- 20:14Speaker 2: five Any Line is bron to you in part by
- 20:16Speaker 2: Mortgadive Morgan with more than twenty billion dollars recovered.
- 20:19Speaker 4: They believe that when you're injured, you deserve more. Morgative Morgan,
- 20:21Speaker 4: America's largest injury law firm, and you know, I in
- 20:25Speaker 4: a past life in state government worked in our office.
- 20:29Speaker 4: There was a gentleman that came in, you know, to
- 20:32Speaker 4: do some of the janitorial services and whatever. And he
- 20:35Speaker 4: was someone that would kind of fall into this category
- 20:39Speaker 4: with tell him a couple of times, you know, you
- 20:42Speaker 4: don't really need to work so hard A typical state
- 20:46Speaker 4: government employee by the way, No, he was, but I
- 20:49Speaker 4: mean we would say, you know, and I won't mention
- 20:52Speaker 4: the gentleman's name, but he would come in and he
- 20:54Speaker 4: cleaned our office whatever. We would say, you know, we
- 20:56Speaker 4: really appreciate everything you're doing, but we don't need to
- 20:59Speaker 4: do this every time. And he just wanted And my
- 21:01Speaker 4: point in saying all this is he just wanted to
- 21:03Speaker 4: do a good job.
- 21:05Speaker 6: Yeah, we find that a lot of our individuals. So
- 21:08Speaker 6: the organizations that you might be familiar with here in
- 21:10Speaker 6: Charleston would be Goodwill of the Summit, sw Resources and
- 21:14Speaker 6: Job Squad, So they were probably employing that worker who
- 21:18Speaker 6: you're talking about. And there's so much pride there right
- 21:21Speaker 6: working at the Capital Complex, I get to go into
- 21:24Speaker 6: Building one and make sure that it's beautiful for all
- 21:27Speaker 6: of the visitors who come to West Virginia. And get
- 21:30Speaker 6: a good impression of our state. So there's definitely a
- 21:33Speaker 6: lot of pride and enthusiasm there. And I actually have
- 21:36Speaker 6: a funny story if you want to hear about one
- 21:38Speaker 6: of our workers at the Capitol Complex. So my contract
- 21:41Speaker 6: manager was doing a scope of work. So you know,
- 21:44Speaker 6: you do things every year you have to redo the contract,
- 21:47Speaker 6: and sometimes it's counting trash cans, right, because you're making
- 21:50Speaker 6: sure that you've got all the t's crossed and i's
- 21:54Speaker 6: dotted and all of that. So he goes through this
- 21:56Speaker 6: big building and counts all the trash cans and is
- 21:59Speaker 6: talking to the gentleman who does the janitorial work there
- 22:02Speaker 6: who happened to have autism, and so you know, he says, okay,
- 22:05Speaker 6: well there's one hundred and twenty trash cans total, and
- 22:09Speaker 6: the individual says, no, there's one hundred and twenty one.
- 22:12Speaker 6: And my contract worker says, well, I don't know. I
- 22:16Speaker 6: just went through and counted them all. And so then
- 22:17Speaker 6: they went floor by a floor. Okay, well on floor one,
- 22:21Speaker 6: I've had this many and they went through and checked
- 22:23Speaker 6: them and sure enough, my employee had miscounted how many
- 22:26Speaker 6: trash cans there were. So that's the kind of level
- 22:29Speaker 6: of investment and enthusiasm that we're talking about whenever you
- 22:32Speaker 6: just give somebody an opportunity.
- 22:34Speaker 4: And at this event, and again it's fourteen eighteen and
- 22:37Speaker 4: mccorcyl Avenue Southes.
- 22:38Speaker 2: What is that building?
- 22:39Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, so it's Job Squad. They do mail
- 22:42Speaker 6: fulfillment service and warehousing and it is in that same
- 22:46Speaker 6: complex with the Captain Holsteines in it.
- 22:48Speaker 10: Okayh yeah, yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 4: So everybody just want to make sure West Virginia sometimes
- 22:51Speaker 4: we're not big on addresses yet it's where Long John
- 22:54Speaker 4: Silver's used to be.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Or something like that.
- 22:55Speaker 4: That's the kind of thing. So everybody knows where Captain
- 22:57Speaker 4: hol Stage is. So I want to ature people do
- 22:59Speaker 4: where was Do they need to sign up ahead of time?
- 23:01Speaker 4: As far as to a tend, I mean not to
- 23:03Speaker 4: be a vendor, but to a tend, Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 15: Not to attend.
- 23:06Speaker 6: We've got information on Facebook, so you know you can
- 23:08Speaker 6: go and double check. It's August fifth, eleven to one.
- 23:12Speaker 6: There is free food there, so come have a little
- 23:14Speaker 6: working lunch, meet some good exhibitors, learn about what you
- 23:17Speaker 6: can do for you and your family, but definitely don't
- 23:20Speaker 6: have to RSVP ahead of time.
- 23:21Speaker 2: What about the exhibitors. Are you still accepting exhibitors.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Or we are all full? So we were, like I said,
- 23:27Speaker 6: it's a warehouse space. So we headroom for twenty five exhibitors,
- 23:30Speaker 6: and we are fully booked here in Charleston, and we
- 23:33Speaker 6: have ten exhibitors up in the Wheeling location. So definitely,
- 23:36Speaker 6: wherever you are in West Virginia, we've got a good
- 23:39Speaker 6: event for you to come see. So if you are
- 23:41Speaker 6: an exhibitor who is interested, keep an eye out for
- 23:44Speaker 6: next year and we'll make sure to get you on
- 23:45Speaker 6: the list.
- 23:46Speaker 4: What about you talked about some of the larger businesses
- 23:50Speaker 4: here in Charleton, What do you need from them? I
- 23:53Speaker 4: mean if they maybe they just want information, maybe they're
- 23:55Speaker 4: not able to attend this event. Do you can you
- 23:57Speaker 4: go with your group? Can you set down at SO
- 24:00Speaker 4: with a larger employer and say, look, will you think
- 24:02Speaker 4: we may able to help you.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Is that's something that you do?
- 24:04Speaker 7: Oh?
- 24:05Speaker 6: Yes, of course. We call that competitive integrated employment. And
- 24:09Speaker 6: all of that means is that we are taking people
- 24:12Speaker 6: who might work at our great organizations like Job Squad
- 24:16Speaker 6: or Goodwill, and then we work with big businesses in
- 24:19Speaker 6: the community like Giant Eagle and we place people to
- 24:22Speaker 6: work there. So definitely, if you're a business here in
- 24:25Speaker 6: Western or excuse me, in Charleston and you are struggling
- 24:29Speaker 6: to find employees, we probably have somebody that we could
- 24:32Speaker 6: help you out. So we're always open to partnerships. You
- 24:35Speaker 6: can reach out to my organization which is Wharf throw
- 24:38Speaker 6: At Western Association of Rehabilitation Facilities or Job Squad where
- 24:42Speaker 6: the event is hosted.
- 24:44Speaker 4: All right, give us the Facebook page and I know
- 24:47Speaker 4: you just did it, but I want to make sure
- 24:48Speaker 4: people know where they can get the information on social media.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Yep.
- 24:51Speaker 6: So it is the twenty twenty six Disability Resource Fair.
- 24:56Speaker 6: Southern location is where you will find.
- 24:59Speaker 4: You will find that located at this event is going
- 25:01Speaker 4: to be from eleven to one. And you said there's
- 25:03Speaker 4: going to be lunch provided fourteen eighteen mccorkyl Avenue, Southwest
- 25:07Speaker 4: and in the same complex here where Captain Holsetin is
- 25:10Speaker 4: here in Charleston.
- 25:12Speaker 2: And I think it's great that you're doing this.
- 25:13Speaker 4: I mean, really do hats off to you and your
- 25:15Speaker 4: organization for doing this, and so it's really good works,
- 25:18Speaker 4: very important work as well.
- 25:19Speaker 6: Thank you. There's so many resources out there. We just
- 25:21Speaker 6: want to show people what Charleston has to offer.
- 25:23Speaker 4: All right, it is all again Next Wednesday, August the fifth,
- 25:27Speaker 4: eleven to one fourteen eighteen mccorkyl Avenue, Southwest.

- 31:01Speaker 4: sort of thing about the Elliott print situation, the delegate
- 31:03Speaker 4: from Fayette County who resigned from office but did not
- 31:07Speaker 4: resign on the ballots and what's going to happen with that.
- 31:10Speaker 4: I know Secretary of State Chris Warner has weighed in
- 31:13Speaker 4: on that, and so it's there's so many different things
- 31:19Speaker 4: that go into this. It's not as simple as what
- 31:21Speaker 4: you might think. So, we'll talk to Josh Holstein about that.
- 31:25Speaker 4: So of cooks from the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce are
- 31:27Speaker 4: going to stop in and we're going to head down south,
- 31:30Speaker 4: down to my homeland, down to Logan County talk to
- 31:33Speaker 4: the mayor of the town, de Man John Feckaty about
- 31:36Speaker 4: some big weekend stuff that they've got going on. Their
- 31:38Speaker 4: Hoppy Kirch will drop the new commentary.
- 31:40Speaker 2: It's a good one. It's a good one. If you
- 31:42Speaker 2: didn't get a chance to.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Hear it on the air this morning, go to wv
- 31:44Speaker 4: Metronews dot com and you can actually read it. Jeff
- 31:47Speaker 4: Jenkins will be here with the news and of course
- 31:49Speaker 4: open line West Virginia Metro News Midday powered by a
- 31:52Speaker 4: sell Angel Law with thirteen News in tonight live anchor
- 31:54Speaker 4: Amanda Baron and Me coming up at noon today now
- 31:57Speaker 4: on this show Tomorrow it's Friday, meaning Angie Go Water
- 32:00Speaker 4: from the Connal Charleston Humane Association will stop by with
- 32:02Speaker 4: this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week, brought
- 32:04Speaker 4: to you by Almost Having Interiors. Jim Strawn will stop
- 32:07Speaker 4: by the studio tomorrow because tomorrow is the final Live
- 32:10Speaker 4: on the Levee of the season, made a decision a
- 32:14Speaker 4: couple of years ago to wrap it up a little
- 32:16Speaker 4: bit early, and tomorrow there is it's a basically a
- 32:19Speaker 4: Taylor Swift tribute that's going to be held tomorrow. Jim
- 32:22Speaker 4: Bow's got all the information. He'll join us coming up
- 32:24Speaker 4: on the show tomorrow. I did want to throw this
- 32:26Speaker 4: out there. There was a post and I'm going to
- 32:28Speaker 4: get into this tomorrow with Angie gilen Water from the
- 32:30Speaker 4: Connal Charleston Humane Association. But they did a post on
- 32:34Speaker 4: social media and I think it was maybe Tuesday or
- 32:39Speaker 4: I saw it yesterday morning, and they they they're having
- 32:43Speaker 4: this issue up there with people just dropping off animals
- 32:48Speaker 4: at the shelter, and she posted a picture of there
- 32:52Speaker 4: were some dogs and cats that were just left in
- 32:54Speaker 4: cages at the shelter. This is a good and a
- 32:58Speaker 4: bad thing at the same time. On one hand, you're
- 33:01Speaker 4: trying to do the right thing. We realize that by
- 33:08Speaker 4: by by bringing them to the shelter. But on the
- 33:10Speaker 4: other hand, if you just drop them off in the
- 33:12Speaker 4: middle of the night and you have a have them
- 33:15Speaker 4: in a cage and people don't know where they came from,
- 33:17Speaker 4: what their medical history is, there's just got to be
- 33:21Speaker 4: a better way to do it.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Again.
- 33:22Speaker 4: It's kind of a double edged sword. Yeah, you took
- 33:24Speaker 4: it to the shelter, but not during their hours of operation,
- 33:28Speaker 4: so the staff couldn't come out and ask you questions, Well,
- 33:31Speaker 4: you know, why are you surrendering this dog or cat?
- 33:34Speaker 4: Does it have its vaccines?
- 33:36Speaker 2: Do you?
- 33:36Speaker 4: I mean, there's just so many different questions that go
- 33:39Speaker 4: into that, and uh so I want to get into
- 33:42Speaker 4: that with Angie coming up on the show tomorrow. We're
- 33:46Speaker 4: still waiting on our friends from the West Virginia Lottery,
- 33:48Speaker 4: so I don't know where they are, but as soon
- 33:51Speaker 4: as as we get them, uh, we'll bring them in studio.
- 33:54Speaker 16: All R.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Ryan, We're gonna have to pivot here for this a
- 33:56Speaker 2: little bit, so we're gonna take the commercial break early
- 33:58Speaker 2: and we'll see if we can round up our lottery
- 34:00Speaker 2: folks when we come back on the Voice of Charleston WCCHS.

- 36:45Speaker 4: have our good friends carry blanket chip of Katie Smith Briggs.
- 36:47Speaker 4: I'm getting used to the hyphenation on you on your
- 36:51Speaker 4: name there.
- 36:51Speaker 15: Katie, So that's right, I'm still getting used to it.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Well, your email I think still says Smith.
- 36:57Speaker 15: It says Katie Smith, and then below it is in
- 36:59Speaker 15: my signature, says Katie Smith Briggs. Because if we change
- 37:02Speaker 15: it like it t it's this whole thing.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Oh, I know, I know, how I you know?
- 37:06Speaker 15: Plus, I mean I kind of like being a Smith.
- 37:08Speaker 15: I kind of like being one of forty jillion people.
- 37:11Speaker 15: So you know, what's.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Your title with the lottery what you're doing, I'm.
- 37:15Speaker 15: The public relations and drawling.
- 37:16Speaker 22: Manager and carry what is your title with Lenny Promotions manager?
- 37:20Speaker 2: Okay?
- 37:20Speaker 4: And uh, you know it looks like you two may
- 37:23Speaker 4: have had like a little fallen out with each other.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I mean, did you have to break your leg?
- 37:26Speaker 22: Carry on, we're both driving. I need I need two
- 37:29Speaker 22: knee replacements. Okay, and she we don't know what's wrong.
- 37:33Speaker 15: With We don't know.
- 37:34Speaker 22: You know, I'm going to call you in the office
- 37:36Speaker 22: now because she has a wheelchair. We can do down
- 37:37Speaker 22: here to the studio.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I think it's that Pittsburgh Pirates gear you're wearing. I
- 37:43Speaker 4: think I think that's what the problem.
- 37:44Speaker 15: They call me missus hawking.
- 37:46Speaker 22: I think I can hear her humming down the hallwaylir.
- 37:49Speaker 2: I think if we got you some Reds gear, you'ld
- 37:51Speaker 2: be much better.
- 37:52Speaker 15: Yeah, way, you got me Reds gear, I would not
- 37:55Speaker 15: even be able to move either knee. All right, now,
- 37:57Speaker 15: I can move one knee.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I'm turning your mic off, Carrie.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 4: So you guys did a release yesterday and it was
- 38:05Speaker 4: about the recent successes of the West Virginia Lottery. I mean,
- 38:08Speaker 4: it's it's been a good it's been a good year.
- 38:10Speaker 4: It's been good several years, but I mean specifically, this
- 38:13Speaker 4: year's been really good.
- 38:14Speaker 15: It was really good. It was one I think it
- 38:16Speaker 15: was one point three to three billion. I don't have
- 38:19Speaker 15: my notes in front of me, but Yeah, it's been
- 38:22Speaker 15: really a really good year. And you know, I can't
- 38:24Speaker 15: wait to hear the final number, like to add to
- 38:27Speaker 15: our like our transfers with our pro seeds and stuff,
- 38:30Speaker 15: because it's been thirteen point seven billion since the lottery
- 38:33Speaker 15: was created in nineteen eighty six, and so just happy
- 38:38Speaker 15: to add to that.
- 38:39Speaker 22: Well, I think all the things we've been doing for
- 38:41Speaker 22: the fortieth and not to mention we've got we've had
- 38:43Speaker 22: two we've had some big jackpot runs too, which doesn't hurt.
- 38:46Speaker 10: Although we just got hit. Power Ball is still.
- 38:49Speaker 15: Power Ball is at seven hundred and seven million somewhere.
- 38:52Speaker 10: That's pretty gritting.
- 38:53Speaker 4: Well, and that's the one I had want to reach
- 38:55Speaker 4: out to you guys, I said, because I was noticing that,
- 38:58Speaker 4: you know, the jackpots were starting to go up.
- 39:00Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 39:01Speaker 4: And uh and but one of the big jack possible hit,
- 39:04Speaker 4: as you said, right.
- 39:04Speaker 15: Mega millions was hit. It was hit at eight hundred
- 39:06Speaker 15: million in Florida.
- 39:08Speaker 10: So if it was a one ticket, I think it was.
- 39:10Speaker 15: I think it was a single ticket that was one
- 39:13Speaker 15: in Florida. And then we we've had we've had several
- 39:18Speaker 15: winners actually, you know, in the last year. And this
- 39:21Speaker 15: is actually a local draw game. It's called Cash twenty five.
- 39:23Speaker 15: It's one of our interstate draw games. In the last year,
- 39:26Speaker 15: we have had almost thirty people win the top prize
- 39:30Speaker 15: in that which is twenty five thousand dollars. That is
- 39:33Speaker 15: that is crazy and that's awesome.
- 39:35Speaker 10: Good dogs, yeah too. And I mean it's it's a
- 39:37Speaker 10: West Virginia game, so you're just.
- 39:39Speaker 2: You're just playing against Western training against West Virginia. So
- 39:42Speaker 2: what's what's new? What's a lot of you get any
- 39:45Speaker 2: you guys get anything new coming up?
- 39:46Speaker 15: Well, and you stay fair.
- 39:47Speaker 2: That's right.
- 39:48Speaker 10: Maybe we were in fair mode.
- 39:49Speaker 4: Okay, that's that's coming up because Austin August is first,
- 39:53Speaker 4: is what Saturday? So yeah, time to start to And
- 39:56Speaker 4: you guys, as somebody who worked the State Fair when
- 39:59Speaker 4: I was in state government for a number of years,
- 40:01Speaker 4: I mean, you guys have a huge presence at the
- 40:03Speaker 4: State Fair, I mean your own building and everything.
- 40:05Speaker 22: Right, we do, and we're excited about it. We've got
- 40:08Speaker 22: some changes that we've made this year and some things
- 40:12Speaker 22: we're taking back to what we had done years ago,
- 40:15Speaker 22: so back to our roots. We're doing a board game.
- 40:17Speaker 22: We've we've changed up lottery Day get back to when
- 40:20Speaker 22: I started twenty twenty nine summers ago, where we were
- 40:25Speaker 22: just there for two days under a tent. You know,
- 40:27Speaker 22: Now we're there the entire duration of the fair and
- 40:30Speaker 22: we're doing a board game on Monday for a Lottery Day.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Okay, okay. To explain how that's going to work.
- 40:34Speaker 22: The Lotteropoly, Well, it's it's kind of a mix of
- 40:37Speaker 22: Monopoly and shoot some ladders. Sorry, sorry, kind we just
- 40:43Speaker 22: created on our own, but it's gonna be fun, Dave.
- 40:46Speaker 22: If you want to come down on Monday and place.
- 40:48Speaker 10: Welcome them.
- 40:49Speaker 15: We got giant dice.
- 40:50Speaker 22: Giant dice, you get to pick before you roll your dice,
- 40:53Speaker 22: which road do you want to take the riskier road.
- 40:55Speaker 10: Or Yeah, the lesson.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Sounds like a lot of fun.
- 41:00Speaker 10: I think we did.
- 41:03Speaker 15: It was exciting because since I have been at the Lottery,
- 41:07Speaker 15: our Lottery Day game has been this big giant iPad
- 41:11Speaker 15: kind of like a plink O like drop and win.
- 41:13Speaker 15: And this is fully literally getting back to you know,
- 41:17Speaker 15: a board game and playing and stuff like that and
- 41:19Speaker 15: extended play. And yes, and I kind of I'm kind
- 41:22Speaker 15: of excited for that. You know, I know that some
- 41:26Speaker 15: people are going to miss the drop and win and
- 41:28Speaker 15: and the excitement with that. But this is just something
- 41:31Speaker 15: different and I kind of feel like since we were
- 41:32Speaker 15: doing our back to our roots that this was the
- 41:35Speaker 15: perfect time to do.
- 41:36Speaker 2: I think the old is new again as.
- 41:38Speaker 22: The saying that we are bringing back our VP second
- 41:42Speaker 22: chance drawing we do every day at the fair. So
- 41:44Speaker 22: the way you get into that drawing is you win
- 41:46Speaker 22: an entry on our prize wheel. And instead of us
- 41:49Speaker 22: just drawing a name and saying congratulations you on this,
- 41:52Speaker 22: the person they had to be present. But then they
- 41:54Speaker 22: get to spin a big wheel, because that's the big thing.
- 41:57Speaker 22: When I started the lottery, we had a you know,
- 41:59Speaker 22: traditional feel, okay, and when we went to digital.
- 42:02Speaker 10: We had a lot We had a lot of people
- 42:04Speaker 10: that re upset about that.
- 42:05Speaker 22: So they'll get to if they get selected, they get
- 42:06Speaker 22: to spin a big, flashy wheel.
- 42:08Speaker 10: I love that.
- 42:10Speaker 22: Yeah, So I think it'd be fun and they can
- 42:11Speaker 22: win concert tickets WVU or martial art law.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Tickets and you know the things I've seen that you
- 42:18Speaker 4: guys have done in the past. People love that old
- 42:21Speaker 4: school kind of stuff too. They like the new stuff.
- 42:23Speaker 4: But I mean when you you guys would put that
- 42:25Speaker 4: wheel out there and you could spin the wheel and
- 42:27Speaker 4: like every you know, there was a prize on everyone
- 42:29Speaker 4: and I mean people, people love that.
- 42:30Speaker 15: Twenty four slot.
- 42:31Speaker 22: There's so I think that I think that they're gonna
- 42:36Speaker 22: enjoy that. Plus visually it's fun to watch because we
- 42:39Speaker 22: don't know what they're gonna win.
- 42:40Speaker 15: And the best part is there's new fair food.
- 42:44Speaker 10: Whether it's always new, always new Fair food.
- 42:46Speaker 15: Are you a pickle fan? Yes, well they have like
- 42:49Speaker 15: pickle pizza.
- 42:50Speaker 10: I mean, well that's not new.
- 42:51Speaker 15: But then they put Dorito's on pizza.
- 42:53Speaker 22: Okay, yeah, there's okay, don't give any reasons to come
- 42:56Speaker 22: to the fair day.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Okay, well you have to talk to about the lottery
- 42:59Speaker 4: and then off the air at that time, because I'm
- 43:02Speaker 4: kind of on the airline.
- 43:03Speaker 10: How about on Saturday, how about we do the show
- 43:05Speaker 10: from the fair.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Well, how about you just pay for it and we'll
- 43:07Speaker 2: be right there perfect.
- 43:08Speaker 10: Well, yeah, you can't make that decision a fair.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Well, David Bradley's not here.
- 43:12Speaker 4: All those I ever say, I I'm.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Going to the fair, Ryan, We're going to the fair.
- 43:16Speaker 2: That's I think we're going to State Fair.
- 43:19Speaker 4: But you asked me about pickles the first part of
- 43:21Speaker 4: the show today. You know, this weekend is the Almost
- 43:24Speaker 4: having Pickle Festival at Almost in South Charleston Farmers Market.
- 43:30Speaker 4: And the guy we had, mister, we had the West
- 43:32Speaker 4: Virginia pickle guy on the show earlier. I mean he
- 43:36Speaker 4: was telling me, I'm about all these different types of
- 43:37Speaker 4: pickles that they've got there.
- 43:38Speaker 15: Have you tasted your mama?
- 43:42Speaker 4: Yeah, no I haven't, But we talked about it because
- 43:45Speaker 4: when he started telling me that it was cajun, I said, yeah,
- 43:48Speaker 4: that's me right there.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I'm all about it.
- 43:50Speaker 15: The bloody Mary pickles are.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Are they good? Oh?
- 43:53Speaker 14: Yes?
- 43:54Speaker 2: He said? The biggest sellers are the kool Aid pickle.
- 43:56Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 15: I don't know how I felt that. Yeah, that's what
- 44:00Speaker 15: he's doing, a new green apple cool aid or something.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you mentioned that. Okay, all right, we'll get away
- 44:05Speaker 2: from pickles here for a moment. Now, that's right. Among
- 44:07Speaker 2: You guys were on a tour sort of as earlier
- 44:12Speaker 2: this year.
- 44:13Speaker 4: I mean you went like all over I know some
- 44:14Speaker 4: of a lot of our radio stations were involved in that.
- 44:18Speaker 4: That was kind of a little celebration against the retro thing.
- 44:21Speaker 4: You guys, what'd you call it again?
- 44:22Speaker 15: You had to we're still on a day dog.
- 44:24Speaker 10: We're still on the tour.
- 44:25Speaker 2: We're just taking a little big dog.
- 44:27Speaker 15: I did you want to be a little dog instead.
- 44:31Speaker 22: Yeah, the tour is taking a pause for the fair
- 44:34Speaker 22: and then because we just had two events this week
- 44:38Speaker 22: in the Beckley and Princeton area, and then as soon
- 44:41Speaker 22: as the fair wraps up, we're gonna be heading to
- 44:43Speaker 22: Barbersville and Montgomery and Montgomery, and then the tour rolls
- 44:47Speaker 22: on until October, so through October through October the end
- 44:50Speaker 22: of October, right before Halloween.
- 44:52Speaker 2: How was the tour.
- 44:54Speaker 15: It's been great. I like it because we're getting to
- 44:56Speaker 15: go to a lot of these smaller communities where you
- 45:00Speaker 15: know this. So we went to Cowen, for example, we
- 45:03Speaker 15: went to the Leslie's Walmart and that's like the only
- 45:06Speaker 15: place to go in Collen for pretty much anything, and
- 45:09Speaker 15: so that was kind.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Of I've been there, yep.
- 45:11Speaker 15: Yeah, and uh, I used to go to church camp
- 45:13Speaker 15: in Collen, so everybody would always talk about the Walmart
- 45:15Speaker 15: and so it's it's been kind of cool to kind
- 45:18Speaker 15: of just see these different like you know, community hubs
- 45:22Speaker 15: and things like that. And there we were at a
- 45:24Speaker 15: I don't remember the name of it, but it would
- 45:26Speaker 15: think it was in Clarksburg, and they.
- 45:29Speaker 10: They went all out for Collens Market.
- 45:31Speaker 15: Yes, and they went on out for it. They did
- 45:33Speaker 15: like samples. They had this pasta sauce that somebody makes
- 45:36Speaker 15: called Uncle Frankie's. And I'm telling you what, I'm not
- 45:39Speaker 15: a big sauce person, and I just ate like that
- 45:42Speaker 15: whole samples like he's just slammed. It was vodka sauce.
- 45:45Speaker 15: It was so good I went in and bought two bottles.
- 45:47Speaker 22: Well, the retailers have been getting into it too, so
- 45:50Speaker 22: a lot of them dressing up for the eighties, and
- 45:52Speaker 22: I mean it is fun.
- 45:53Speaker 10: I like a good theme.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Well, and I remember when I had you guys on
- 45:56Speaker 4: the Midday Show and you brought me the costume, yeah right,
- 45:59Speaker 4: and that Final Hours on Metro News television. So I
- 46:01Speaker 4: was all out because I am from the eighties.
- 46:03Speaker 10: Yeah you're me too.
- 46:06Speaker 22: I was in a majority of my childhood was the eighties.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Sing about your age, but you're younger than I am,
- 46:12Speaker 2: so but.
- 46:13Speaker 22: Younger, so we're in that same this one. Yes contribute. Yeah,
- 46:18Speaker 22: but you see who's walking on crutches, don't you.
- 46:20Speaker 2: That's right, right, that's right, Kim.
- 46:23Speaker 22: I have no words, but it's been fun. We've enjoyed it.
- 46:26Speaker 22: I think our players have the T shirts alone. I mean,
- 46:28Speaker 22: I know, we got your shirt, we got you a
- 46:30Speaker 22: press kit, but the T shirts are fantastic, so they're
- 46:34Speaker 22: very proper.
- 46:35Speaker 15: I do there is one thing I do want to stress.
- 46:37Speaker 15: We have all these events that we're doing and all
- 46:39Speaker 15: these promotions and all you know, Powerball and things like that,
- 46:42Speaker 15: but I would not you know, I think it's safe
- 46:46Speaker 15: that we always need to say play responsibility. You need
- 46:48Speaker 15: to have fun playing and we love to have fun too,
- 46:51Speaker 15: but you need to, you know, let's be smart about
- 46:54Speaker 15: our decisions that we're making and playing.
- 46:58Speaker 10: It only takes one ticket.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 47:01Speaker 10: I mean, and they play within your means that fun.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah, that's that's very good advice.
- 47:07Speaker 10: It is good advice.
- 47:08Speaker 4: Sticks away from Tima Day Island Show on five Adye

- 47:23Speaker 4: Dot Net helping you understand your environment, because what you
- 47:25Speaker 4: don't know can't hurt you.
- 47:27Speaker 2: And one thing I think we.
- 47:28Speaker 4: Need to talk about too, is we talk about all
- 47:30Speaker 4: the fun that goes along with the Westernian Lottery. And
- 47:32Speaker 4: of course we said play responsibly, we get that, but
- 47:34Speaker 4: all of the good things that come out of the
- 47:36Speaker 4: West Virginia Lottery and things that the lottery games fund
- 47:39Speaker 4: and have been funding since the nineteen eighties, tourism.
- 47:43Speaker 22: Tourism is funded through Western Jail Lottery, state park improvement,
- 47:46Speaker 22: park improvement, seniors, nail on wheels, veterans education of course
- 47:52Speaker 22: higher education, and for our universities and also for schools,
- 47:56Speaker 22: for the School Building Authority. And you know, all that money,
- 47:59Speaker 22: all the things that you see, there's touch points in
- 48:02Speaker 22: every community that you can see that was lottery. And
- 48:06Speaker 22: with forty years of doing that, I feel, you know,
- 48:09Speaker 22: it makes us proud to work for the lottery because
- 48:11Speaker 22: I like to think of us as fundraisers to a degree.
- 48:14Speaker 22: Even though we don't determine where that money goes, we
- 48:17Speaker 22: play a role in it.
- 48:18Speaker 10: Yeah, and it does a lot of good.
- 48:19Speaker 13: It does.
- 48:20Speaker 2: It does a lot of good. I mean, it really
- 48:21Speaker 2: really does.
- 48:22Speaker 4: And I don't know when we've had the director we
- 48:25Speaker 4: had acting director David Bradley in the past. Maybe you
- 48:27Speaker 4: guys know this, what's the dollar amount and do you
- 48:29Speaker 4: have a dollar amount like going back forty years?
- 48:31Speaker 15: Thirteen point seven billion?
- 48:33Speaker 2: Of course you do. You read thirteen point seven billion
- 48:36Speaker 2: dollars has gone.
- 48:37Speaker 15: Back and that number is actually probably even higher now
- 48:41Speaker 15: because we just wrapped up our fiscal year twenty twenty six.
- 48:45Speaker 22: So we're higher now than what it was when here
- 48:47Speaker 22: last time because we finally have all the numbers.
- 48:51Speaker 15: I think they're still trying. They're still working on that
- 48:53Speaker 15: actual like, you know, because there's all kinds of math
- 48:57Speaker 15: things that they might have hurt. But so yeah, so
- 49:00Speaker 15: it's thirteen point seven billion. That numbers probably a little
- 49:02Speaker 15: bit higher now and we it's just, I mean, it's
- 49:08Speaker 15: kind of cool to see because you know, I was
- 49:10Speaker 15: from West Virginia, raised here, lived here, went to college here,
- 49:13Speaker 15: then then moved and went away and went out of state,
- 49:16Speaker 15: and then getting to come back and work for this
- 49:19Speaker 15: agency and kind of see things. And we're trying to
- 49:21Speaker 15: do things to make people want to stay here, you know,
- 49:23Speaker 15: make it a place people want to call home, and
- 49:26Speaker 15: you know, add to its beauty and so it's kind
- 49:29Speaker 15: of cool for me having that perspective to, you know,
- 49:34Speaker 15: get to be proud of what we're doing.
- 49:36Speaker 10: So and we have fun and we have fun.
- 49:39Speaker 1: One thing fun.
- 49:41Speaker 15: We're the dynamic duo.
- 49:42Speaker 4: The Fun Girls. I mean, there's no there's no doubt
- 49:45Speaker 4: about it. You guys always have fun. And and it's
- 49:48Speaker 4: it's constantly changing with a lottery too. And I know
- 49:50Speaker 4: that now that we're in everything's in the the I
- 49:53Speaker 4: mean it's been this way for some time, but now
- 49:55Speaker 4: it's with online stuff and that's that the eye games
- 49:58Speaker 4: and all that stuff is really really taking of.
- 50:01Speaker 22: It is and I think there's still probably a large
- 50:05Speaker 22: portion of our players that maybe haven't taken advantage of
- 50:10Speaker 22: of that level with loyalty. So just a reminder to
- 50:14Speaker 22: scan your ticket, you know, sign up for the app,
- 50:17Speaker 22: build the scandos tickets, build the points before you toss
- 50:19Speaker 22: it the trash because we have drawings going on all
- 50:22Speaker 22: the time.
- 50:22Speaker 10: One that they can get into is that million.
- 50:24Speaker 22: Dollar there's a million anniversary drama where you could get
- 50:28Speaker 22: into that.
- 50:29Speaker 15: As part of Yeah, as part of our fortieth anniversary,
- 50:32Speaker 15: you know, they're giving up two point seven million in
- 50:34Speaker 15: prizes on through the app.
- 50:36Speaker 10: This year through the app through the Apple yep.
- 50:39Speaker 4: Correct, And you can go to your app, to your
- 50:41Speaker 4: app store, the website and yes, you can go to.
- 50:44Speaker 15: I believe it's up back up on Google plan now
- 50:46Speaker 15: and if it's not, it should be. But if you
- 50:48Speaker 15: have an Android, you can go to our website and
- 50:50Speaker 15: they have a step by step of how to download it.
- 50:53Speaker 15: And then of course you can go to the the
- 50:55Speaker 15: app store for an iPhone and it's very easy set up.
- 50:58Speaker 15: And there's a twenty four hour help line as well,
- 51:01Speaker 15: so if there's issues, people can call that and don't
- 51:04Speaker 15: don't probably ask me because I'm not very technologically savvy
- 51:07Speaker 15: and I'm not sure that I could really help you
- 51:09Speaker 15: out a whole bunch.
- 51:10Speaker 10: But we can get you to a point.
- 51:11Speaker 15: We'll get you someone that can't help you.
- 51:13Speaker 10: Listen to me, You're not the gap, but you know
- 51:14Speaker 10: the gap we did, right, We know that?
- 51:16Speaker 5: All right?
- 51:16Speaker 2: Real quick, real quick, because we have start I wrap
- 51:18Speaker 2: this up.
- 51:18Speaker 4: I want to ask you, have there been any like
- 51:20Speaker 4: really big winners in West Virginia here recently?
- 51:22Speaker 10: I mean, ye, we just had there was.
- 51:23Speaker 15: A yeah, we had so we had a two million
- 51:25Speaker 15: dollar winter that just recently was claimed and we had
- 51:29Speaker 15: a it was fifty thousand, and then they bought the
- 51:34Speaker 15: power Play, so I think it went up to two
- 51:36Speaker 15: hundred thousand, and that was actually on the app.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Okay, there you go.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Oh yeah, all right, So you guys are going to
