- 1:47Speaker 3: to get to. This morning course, the tributes are continuing
- 1:50Speaker 3: for former Supreme Court Justice and legislator Tim Armstead. That
- 1:54Speaker 3: story breaking yesterday afternoon, passed away at the age of sixty.
- 1:59Speaker 3: We got plum coverage on the website. We'll have plenty
- 2:02Speaker 3: of coverage coming up a little bit later on in
- 2:04Speaker 3: this show and also on Metro News Midday later today. Also,
- 2:08Speaker 3: we've been spending some time talking about the expanding real
- 2:11Speaker 3: estate market in the area in the Kanawh Valley, specifically
- 2:15Speaker 3: in Putnam County. Yesterday had a conversation with the folks
- 2:20Speaker 3: at Meex Rentals and Leasing about some things that they've
- 2:23Speaker 3: got going on. Of course, on Monday show we talked
- 2:25Speaker 3: to more than teny for the Putnam County Development Authority
- 2:27Speaker 3: about the four hundred and some new houses that are
- 2:30Speaker 3: going to be going in the Hurricane area. Not to
- 2:32Speaker 3: be outdone, the Land of the Generals Winfield has got
- 2:35Speaker 3: some exciting things going on to We'll talk to Mayor
- 2:37Speaker 3: Randy Barrett about that coming up a little bit later on,
- 2:39Speaker 3: plus several other things to get to in the news
- 2:41Speaker 3: and as always your calls and text Bigley Piggli Wiggly

- 2:50Speaker 3: five zero zero Waight, as we do a couple of
- 2:52Speaker 3: times a month. So let's welcome in our good friend,
- 2:54Speaker 3: doctor Casey Sachs of Bridge Valley. Good morning, Welcome to
- 2:57Speaker 3: the show.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave. It's great to be with you today.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Great to have you here. We're going to get caught
- 3:02Speaker 3: up on some things going on at Bridge Valley. But
- 3:04Speaker 3: before we do that, doctor Sachs, I thought I would
- 3:06Speaker 3: give you an opportunity to say something about the passing
- 3:10Speaker 3: of a Supreme Court justice. Tim Armstead.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I know that family.
- 3:15Speaker 5: He's such a nice man.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead, and just to tell us your recollections.
- 3:21Speaker 5: He was such a nice man. The last time I
- 3:23Speaker 5: saw him was at the Habitat for Humanity making a donation,
- 3:26Speaker 5: and it's just such a nice guy. It's really a
- 3:28Speaker 5: loss for the community.
- 3:29Speaker 3: It is, indeed. And I'm going to get into this
- 3:32Speaker 3: a little bit later on in the show, but I
- 3:34Speaker 3: will say this about Tim Armstead. Even people who may
- 3:37Speaker 3: have been on different sides of the political aisle from him,
- 3:41Speaker 3: never heard anybody say a bad word about him as
- 3:44Speaker 3: a person, even his political quote unquote enemies. And I don't
- 3:46Speaker 3: even like to use the term enemies, and let me
- 3:48Speaker 3: just say people that have a different thought process than
- 3:51Speaker 3: he did. I never heard anybody say anything bad about him.
- 3:54Speaker 5: He took the time to work with one of my
- 3:57Speaker 5: exchange students several years ago. She'll really be sad too.
- 4:00Speaker 5: She lives in Germany now and he was so nice
- 4:03Speaker 5: to her one year at the business summit and really
- 4:05Speaker 5: took the time to talk to her about law, and
- 4:07Speaker 5: she is an accountancy law now in Germany and it
- 4:10Speaker 5: really made such a difference in her life.
- 4:12Speaker 3: That's a great story. I mean, it really is. And
- 4:14Speaker 3: again these stories continue to come in and we talk
- 4:17Speaker 3: to elected officials and things of that nature. We're going
- 4:19Speaker 3: to continue to do that. I know the guys are,
- 4:21Speaker 3: they're actually at the business some of today, Wilson and Meadows.
- 4:24Speaker 3: They'll talk about it down there, Amanda and I will
- 4:26Speaker 3: talk about it on midday to day. But it's the
- 4:28Speaker 3: stories like that about Tim Armstead, to be honest with you,
- 4:31Speaker 3: doctor Sachs, that really touched me a little bit more.
- 4:34Speaker 3: You know somebody that ninety nine point nine percent of
- 4:37Speaker 3: the population doesn't even know, but he went out of
- 4:38Speaker 3: his way to go help that person.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Oh, it's such a loss for the community.
- 4:44Speaker 3: It is indeed in the entire state of West Virginia.
- 4:46Speaker 3: All right. So we talk about all the time Bridge
- 4:49Speaker 3: Valley's relationship with area businesses, answering the call for what
- 4:53Speaker 3: employers need and working with them, Doctor Sachs to provide
- 4:57Speaker 3: the skill sets that they need to hire people. You're
- 5:00Speaker 3: now in the insurance business, so to speak, we are.
- 5:03Speaker 5: So our local insurance companies have said they needed a
- 5:07Speaker 5: little bit of training, and so we've started ramping that
- 5:11Speaker 5: up and we'll actually have the first property and Casualty
- 5:14Speaker 5: insurance course. It's been at the request of local insurance
- 5:18Speaker 5: agencies and apparently there's a licensure required and they need
- 5:22Speaker 5: preparation for the state licensure exam. So on September ninth,
- 5:26Speaker 5: we'll have our first cohort go through Property and Casualty
- 5:30Speaker 5: insurance pre licensure. We're pretty excited about it.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I'm going to say that sounds exciting. I'm not making
- 5:37Speaker 3: fun of it. It's well, it's something that I get
- 5:40Speaker 3: some really good friends in the insurance business. You're right,
- 5:42Speaker 3: doctor Zax. It is something that is sorely needed.
- 5:45Speaker 5: It really is. And actually we've I looked it up
- 5:48Speaker 5: for you. Insurance sales agents. The employment for those are
- 5:53Speaker 5: expected to grow six percent over the next few years,
- 5:55Speaker 5: so that good growth area, not.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Bad at all, not bad at all. And we'll give
- 5:59Speaker 3: you as we close out the segment, as we always do,
- 6:01Speaker 3: we'll give you the contact information, the website and whatever,
- 6:04Speaker 3: so you can look up everything else going on at
- 6:06Speaker 3: Bridge Value as well. I was reading the other day
- 6:09Speaker 3: some information about the college is STAND Programain explain what
- 6:13Speaker 3: that is and how it works. What is the STAND
- 6:15Speaker 3: program and how does it work?
- 6:17Speaker 5: So STAND is actually statewide. It stands for Skilled Trades Apprenticeships,
- 6:23Speaker 5: non traditional degree. Okay, So STAND is an acronym, and
- 6:26Speaker 5: it's to help people who have completed apprenticeships in any
- 6:29Speaker 5: number of areas. You might be a plumber and now
- 6:32Speaker 5: you're ready to complete a degree so that you can
- 6:35Speaker 5: advance your career, and so STAND actually helps you do
- 6:37Speaker 5: that by providing a state financial aid fund so that
- 6:41Speaker 5: you can finish out probably about fifteen credit hours and
- 6:44Speaker 5: complete that associate's degree.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And that's a really exciting thing. As you said, this
- 6:49Speaker 3: is a state wide program, not a college program, but
- 6:51Speaker 3: you guys are involved in the thing's going on across
- 6:54Speaker 3: the Mountain State and there's a lot of buzz about it.
- 6:56Speaker 5: It's really great and it's at all of the community colleges.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I really want to help promote people who have had
- 7:02Speaker 5: those apprenticeships, who have done those registered programs. They're really
- 7:06Speaker 5: great in the skilled trades, but they might be at
- 7:08Speaker 5: the point where they're ready to be in management or
- 7:10Speaker 5: to move up and sometimes you need a degree for that,
- 7:13Speaker 5: so we're trying to make it easier.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Talking to doctor Casey Sachs Abridge Valley, It's nine to
- 7:16Speaker 3: fourteen to Dave Alan. Show one five eighty Live is
- 7:18Speaker 3: Broadchoo part by Pinnacle Consultants. Their services involved developing comprehensive
- 7:23Speaker 3: management plans to outline strategies for controlling and minimizing as
- 7:26Speaker 3: best as exposure. Perfect for commercial property owners and managers.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Visit Pinnacle Court dot net because what you don't know
- 7:32Speaker 3: can hurt you. I want to talk a little bit
- 7:34Speaker 3: about the role of community and technical colleges in the
- 7:37Speaker 3: state of West Virginia. You and I have talked to
- 7:38Speaker 3: We've been having you on the show for the last
- 7:40Speaker 3: couple of years, pretty much ever since you arrived here,
- 7:42Speaker 3: and we know we talk a lot about now, especially
- 7:45Speaker 3: at this time of year. You know, the kids are
- 7:47Speaker 3: heading back to public school, most of them not if
- 7:49Speaker 3: they haven't already, they will soon. Certainly they have here
- 7:51Speaker 3: in the Kanaw Valley and students heading back to the
- 7:54Speaker 3: to the larger universities. But there is such a role,
- 7:58Speaker 3: doctor Sachs, for community and technical college, trade schools, whatever
- 8:01Speaker 3: you want to call them. In our society right now.
- 8:04Speaker 5: There really is? There really is. I actually I was
- 8:07Speaker 5: at a rotary meeting this week and I had a
- 8:09Speaker 5: mom tell me how much money we saved her family
- 8:12Speaker 5: and how great this was, and that her daughter then
- 8:14Speaker 5: transferred to Marshall and that she just appreciated what Bridge
- 8:17Speaker 5: Value was able to do for their family. And that
- 8:20Speaker 5: kind of story, when people stop me in the community,
- 8:22Speaker 5: makes me so happy, because that's what we're trying to do.
- 8:25Speaker 5: We're trying to make college a lot more accessible for people.
- 8:28Speaker 3: And you know, back years ago, well over thirty years ago,
- 8:32Speaker 3: I guess now, when I was in college, you know,
- 8:35Speaker 3: it was actually, you know, probably closer to forty, but
- 8:37Speaker 3: who's counting. There was if you went to a community college,
- 8:41Speaker 3: which I did. I went to Southern West Virginia Community
- 8:44Speaker 3: Technical College and transferred to Marshall. That's what you did.
- 8:47Speaker 3: You went to a community college, went to a trade
- 8:49Speaker 3: school whatever you want to call it, and then you
- 8:50Speaker 3: transferred to somewhere else. And that's all well and good,
- 8:53Speaker 3: and your students still do that. However, you got a
- 8:55Speaker 3: lot of programs that are available that people don't have
- 8:57Speaker 3: to go anywhere else. That's their style.
- 9:00Speaker 5: It's true, and we actually really pride ourselves in that.
- 9:03Speaker 5: It's something that's been very fun for us to think through,
- 9:07Speaker 5: what's the labor market need and what are businesses really
- 9:09Speaker 5: saying they need in the area, and how do we
- 9:11Speaker 5: help meet that with folks who can earn an associate's degree.
- 9:15Speaker 5: So when you think about things like a registered nurse,
- 9:18Speaker 5: that's a two year URN program and it's a really
- 9:21Speaker 5: great job in our community.
- 9:23Speaker 3: And we all know about the need for nurses, I
- 9:24Speaker 3: mean not only here in West Virginia after saxphon nationwide.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Absolutely, And I.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Understand you wanted to spotlight one particular person. You gave
- 9:33Speaker 3: me a name via text to Caitlin Rains and the
- 9:35Speaker 3: Harmonies Senior Service of Scholarship talk about that.
- 9:38Speaker 5: We're really proud of Caitlin. So Harmony Senior Services has
- 9:41Speaker 5: made a great commitment to our students. They have donated
- 9:45Speaker 5: one hundred thousand dollars so that every year ten students
- 9:49Speaker 5: get a thousand dollars scholarship to really help support them.
- 9:53Speaker 5: And now for Caitlin, that's meant that she can focus
- 9:55Speaker 5: on her studies and prepare for her INCLEX the ENCLEXES,
- 9:59Speaker 5: the state license examine nursing instead of having to juggle
- 10:03Speaker 5: full time school and full time work. She's talked about
- 10:06Speaker 5: how grateful she is for Harmony Senior Services support and
- 10:09Speaker 5: it's just one of those really feel good stories in
- 10:12Speaker 5: the community.
- 10:13Speaker 3: We need more feel good stories for sure. Talking to
- 10:15Speaker 3: doctor Casey Sackson Bridge Valley before we let you go,
- 10:18Speaker 3: what else is going on up there on the hill?
- 10:20Speaker 5: Gosh, Well, school just started, so we've been really busy
- 10:24Speaker 5: with back to school and trying to welcome students both
- 10:27Speaker 5: in South Charleston, Anna and Montgomery, and we're just excited.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Enrollment's been up every year. We're up another five percent
- 10:33Speaker 5: this year, and we're really proud of folks who have
- 10:35Speaker 5: decided to change their lives and come back.
- 10:38Speaker 3: We love to hear them that the enrollment's of Hey,
- 10:39Speaker 3: doctor Sachs, it's always a pleasure to talk to you,
- 10:42Speaker 3: and we'll talk again soon. Give us the information, give
- 10:44Speaker 3: us the website. People can learn more about anything we
- 10:46Speaker 3: talked about today or any of the fabulous things going
- 10:48Speaker 3: on at Bridge Valley.
- 10:50Speaker 5: It's all at Bridge Valley dot edu and doctor.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Casey Sacks will talk again next month. Thanks a lot,
- 10:54Speaker 3: Thank you, doc, doctor Casey Sacks of Bridge Valley it
- 10:58Speaker 3: is nine eighteen. But again I love the stories when
- 11:01Speaker 3: we talked to doctor Sachs about that, because again, years ago,
- 11:04Speaker 3: it was always well, you're going to go to this
- 11:05Speaker 3: particular college and then you're going to transfer somewhere else.
- 11:07Speaker 3: And people still do that all the time, be it Marshall,
- 11:10Speaker 3: WVU State, whatever that people still do that. However, there's
- 11:14Speaker 3: a lot of programs available at these colleges that you
- 11:17Speaker 3: ain't gotta go nowhere else. You just simply go there
- 11:20Speaker 3: and get your degree and then go to work. And
- 11:22Speaker 3: the relationships that Bridge Valley has got with these employers,
- 11:25Speaker 3: we talk about what they've done with Toyota and these
- 11:27Speaker 3: other places. I mean, you're you're ready to go. It's
- 11:30Speaker 3: just a matter sometimes of where do you want to work,
- 11:32Speaker 3: what shift do you want to work? Because your job
- 11:33Speaker 3: is waiting on you. And trust me, it hasn't always

- 14:17Speaker 9: Good morning, Dave. How are you doing this morning?
- 14:19Speaker 3: I am doing fine. Thanks for being here. And as
- 14:21Speaker 3: I did with doctor Casey Sachson the last segment, Mayor,
- 14:24Speaker 3: I want to give you a chance to talk a
- 14:25Speaker 3: little bit about Supreme Court justice former Legislator Tim Armstead,
- 14:29Speaker 3: who we lost yesterday.
- 14:31Speaker 9: Well, I've only met Tim a couple of times, but
- 14:34Speaker 9: everything when I met him he was so I want
- 14:37Speaker 9: to say, humble up there for even the positions he had,
- 14:41Speaker 9: you would have never known that the cloud he had
- 14:43Speaker 9: and stuff in there. His demeanor was was very made
- 14:47Speaker 9: everybody feel very welcome, even to the people didn't know
- 14:50Speaker 9: him very well. So that's that goes a long ways
- 14:53Speaker 9: with people. In a position like that.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm one. And again he was a he was
- 14:58Speaker 3: a person that just everybody liked and everybody respected. And
- 15:01Speaker 3: of course he had been sick, and still we knew
- 15:05Speaker 3: he'd been sick. But it was shocking news when Jeff
- 15:07Speaker 3: came downstairs yesterday and middle of Metro News midday and
- 15:10Speaker 3: said that Tim Armstead had passed and he was sixty
- 15:12Speaker 3: years old. He's had a wonderful wife and family and
- 15:16Speaker 3: a whole host of friends. You're going to be hearing
- 15:18Speaker 3: a whole lot more about the legacy of Tim Armstead
- 15:21Speaker 3: over the next several days, for sure, Mayor. We spent
- 15:24Speaker 3: some time on several shows talking about the incredible growth
- 15:27Speaker 3: in Putnam County. Late last week came the announcement of
- 15:30Speaker 3: two hundred plus homes of the hurricane area. We talked
- 15:33Speaker 3: to Morgan Tenting from the development Authority about that that
- 15:35Speaker 3: on yesterday's show. Similar things with thor meeks of meex
- 15:38Speaker 3: rentals and leasing. But I know not to be outdone
- 15:41Speaker 3: in the Land of the Generals. You got some exciting
- 15:43Speaker 3: things going on there in Winfield too. Hey, Mayor, I
- 15:47Speaker 3: need you do me a favor if you would. I
- 15:48Speaker 3: don't know what you're listening to in the background, if
- 15:50Speaker 3: you're listening to me or whatever, because I know you're
- 15:51Speaker 3: my number one fan, but I'm gonna need you to
- 15:53Speaker 3: turn it down a little bit. We get a little feedback.
- 15:56Speaker 9: I don't have nothing playing, Dave, I got you completely
- 15:59Speaker 9: on me.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Okay, something all right?
- 16:01Speaker 9: Maybe on area.
- 16:02Speaker 3: I thought you were going to say, I don't have
- 16:04Speaker 3: anything on I was gonna say no, mayor don't say that. No,
- 16:06Speaker 3: do not say that. Well, go ahead and tell us
- 16:09Speaker 3: about what's going on in Winfield.
- 16:11Speaker 9: Well, we've we've got a brand new development starting whatever,
- 16:15Speaker 9: being Duplexus. They have sixty one units that's three bedroom,
- 16:22Speaker 9: fourteen hundred feet square feet and right there across from
- 16:25Speaker 9: Dairy Freege I know, you know where Bell was at.
- 16:28Speaker 9: Oh yeah, and that's you know, close to the high school.
- 16:32Speaker 9: And we've had has some people complaining, well the traffic stuff. Yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 9: it's it's going to call up there. But you know,
- 16:40Speaker 9: you get sixty one places in there, you get sixty
- 16:43Speaker 9: one you know, one hundred and twenty some people plus
- 16:46Speaker 9: it's going to two cars. It'll call up there. But
- 16:49Speaker 9: that's a great problem to have. It's an eight million
- 16:52Speaker 9: dollar project and they do. They think us the foundation poured,
- 16:58Speaker 9: they're still putting in utility. But it's uh uh. I'm
- 17:02Speaker 9: hoping by the next spring he'll be able to rent those.
- 17:05Speaker 9: But that's a and he's a local guy, family guy.
- 17:08Speaker 9: Right here. I think he's thirty years old and he's
- 17:12Speaker 9: doing that. Great, great guy. And then down here on
- 17:16Speaker 9: the other end of town, we got Jordan Place. They
- 17:18Speaker 9: got thirty eight town homes. They're selling them from two
- 17:22Speaker 9: fifty to almost five hundred thousand dollars. Yes, they someone
- 17:26Speaker 9: talked or is anybody Aaron Hurricane will be able before
- 17:29Speaker 9: of those places that are building, Yeah, because they're built.
- 17:32Speaker 9: They're they're doing them over here, they have them, people's
- 17:37Speaker 9: buying them waiting on the New Corps. Waited was waiting
- 17:41Speaker 9: on three of them up there to get the CEO's on.
- 17:43Speaker 9: So they move into them. And New Courts done the
- 17:47Speaker 9: same thing over at three h four. They buy some
- 17:50Speaker 9: of them and they just bring in their big shots.
- 17:53Speaker 9: And now New Court has been great for when un
- 17:57Speaker 9: till the hurricane.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right. And the thing about it is these
- 18:00Speaker 3: developers mayor wouldn't be building these things just on a chance.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I mean, there's a there's a market for them, or
- 18:08Speaker 3: they wouldn't be building them to begin with. I mean,
- 18:10Speaker 3: these aren't these guys aren't aren't are dummies. I mean
- 18:12Speaker 3: they do their market research and they obviously have seen
- 18:15Speaker 3: a need for this. That's why that's why they got
- 18:18Speaker 3: the plans out and started building them.
- 18:20Speaker 9: Yes, we got three other developers that's come into town
- 18:23Speaker 9: and they're either building one development's fifteen homes, the other
- 18:27Speaker 9: one is eighteen, and the other ones thirty or twenty
- 18:31Speaker 9: some duplexus that they're going to sell. But none of
- 18:34Speaker 9: them was you know, they haven't got started yet for
- 18:37Speaker 9: one reason or another, and so maybe they're you know,
- 18:42Speaker 9: let these other ones get ready, then there'll be next
- 18:45Speaker 9: to sell. And that's a good problem to have up
- 18:48Speaker 9: that our traffic and everybody knows. You know, if you
- 18:51Speaker 9: don't come to Winfield at eight o'clock in the morning
- 18:53Speaker 9: or three point thirty in the afternoon, you know, our
- 18:56Speaker 9: schools has got everything packed in here, which is a
- 18:58Speaker 9: good problem to have. But we'll grow it, and we'll
- 19:01Speaker 9: grow in Winfield and Putnam County.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Talking again with Mayor Randy Barrett of Winfield, the day
- 19:06Speaker 3: Island showing five eighty live is brought to you party
- 19:07Speaker 3: by a Hustan's Pizza. This month at your favorite Hussans,
- 19:10Speaker 3: get a large at and inch pepperoni pizza at a
- 19:12Speaker 3: big eight inch chocolate chip cookie for twenty three ninety nine.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Dine in carry out or order delivery on your closest
- 19:17Speaker 3: Hustons at Huston's Pizza dot com. And you know, let's
- 19:21Speaker 3: talk about about the whole development of Putnam County because
- 19:23Speaker 3: you're you know, you've been around a while, and you
- 19:26Speaker 3: you know what what Putnam County was like in the
- 19:28Speaker 3: let's say nineteen nineties when it really exploded. And then
- 19:32Speaker 3: I will say that they had any struggles, but I
- 19:34Speaker 3: mean it just kind of leveled off, you know, as
- 19:37Speaker 3: to be expected, and now it's all coming back again.
- 19:40Speaker 3: I mean from what I wasn't there in the nineteen nineties,
- 19:42Speaker 3: but from what I've been told, this is like nineteen
- 19:45Speaker 3: ninety five or whatever the year was. On steroids.
- 19:48Speaker 9: Oh yeah, you assistant, the Valley Road is exploded. And
- 19:52Speaker 9: then you know, I was here when they got to
- 19:55Speaker 9: New thirty five up there, and Fever said, well that'll
- 19:58Speaker 9: knock people from coming to Winfield. That red light. That's
- 20:01Speaker 9: been the best thing to happen to Windfield because you
- 20:04Speaker 9: really couldn't get here at certain times of the evening
- 20:07Speaker 9: because traffic was bad. Now if you want to get
- 20:09Speaker 9: to Windfield from Value you can. So we've grown. The
- 20:13Speaker 9: whole county has grown so much. And I've been here
- 20:16Speaker 9: a lot longer, been the nineties up there. I could
- 20:20Speaker 9: remember my dad back in probably the set early seventies.
- 20:25Speaker 9: I think the Valley Park where the Hurricane City Park,
- 20:28Speaker 9: that whole place, I think it was up to sell
- 20:30Speaker 9: up for like sixteen thousand dollars. Can you imagine what investment?
- 20:34Speaker 3: But that was a lot of money back sure, yeah, but.
- 20:37Speaker 9: Been developed and you know, I got to give them
- 20:39Speaker 9: a soapbox here a minute. We got a we got
- 20:42Speaker 9: a guy at local contractor here building two businesses down,
- 20:46Speaker 9: two open businesses down here in Windfield, and the dh
- 20:50Speaker 9: is holding them up because of the red light. And
- 20:53Speaker 9: they were the one the gomark was supposed to broke
- 20:56Speaker 9: ground last month and now they're now d it's saying
- 21:00Speaker 9: there's probably next spring before they even get the red
- 21:02Speaker 9: light in. Uh. Some of our state agencies are killing
- 21:07Speaker 9: growth in the state. I mean not just in Pumpman
- 21:10Speaker 9: County and the red tape of some of these Some
- 21:14Speaker 9: of these places really have to be looked at what
- 21:18Speaker 9: they got to do. But this it's holding up development.
- 21:21Speaker 9: We we need businesses. When you hold up development, sidewalks,
- 21:26Speaker 9: red light's business, you're hurting the whole state up their
- 21:29Speaker 9: So something has to be done with some of these
- 21:32Speaker 9: agencies that hold up growth in state.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Well, I mean, what what can be done? I mean,
- 21:38Speaker 3: you know, you're I know you're very heavily involved in
- 21:39Speaker 3: the municipal League and Mayor Goodwin uh here in Charleston
- 21:43Speaker 3: is the new head of the Municipal League. And I'm
- 21:45Speaker 3: sure you guys are always on, you know, on one
- 21:47Speaker 3: page when it comes to these things. What what can
- 21:49Speaker 3: be done? I mean, what what needs to do? Who
- 21:52Speaker 3: does the who does the message need to get to Mayor?
- 21:55Speaker 9: Well, I talked to one of my senators here, a
- 21:57Speaker 9: local last year about it, and I said, well, here
- 22:01Speaker 9: rumors that maybe y'all going to start the state is
- 22:04Speaker 9: going to start contracting out engineers firms to do some
- 22:09Speaker 9: of this prelim stuff in there to speed things up.
- 22:13Speaker 9: And he said yeah, but he said so expensive. I said,
- 22:17Speaker 9: time is money. I said, I got a grant that
- 22:20Speaker 9: was almost worth a half million dollars ten years ago,
- 22:24Speaker 9: and now that same thing is only worth two hundreds
- 22:28Speaker 9: and dollars. So time is money, So pay me now,
- 22:31Speaker 9: pay me later. Up there when you'll hold up projects
- 22:34Speaker 9: for a decade and this one here for another year
- 22:37Speaker 9: that they were ready to break ground last month. Time
- 22:39Speaker 9: is money. Something has to be you know. The new
- 22:43Speaker 9: Morse is working on PIA and stuff. I think next
- 22:46Speaker 9: on the list is helping dh out to get out
- 22:50Speaker 9: of its own way up and the whole state needs
- 22:54Speaker 9: help on you know, roads and stuff in there, and
- 22:58Speaker 9: DAH needs help. And sure all the answers, but maybe
- 23:01Speaker 9: maybe starting off with Southern some engineering out to some
- 23:05Speaker 9: of these. Uh. We got a lot of good engineers,
- 23:08Speaker 9: engineering companies all up and down the state. I think
- 23:12Speaker 9: the state needs to spend a little money to make
- 23:15Speaker 9: a little money. Uh.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Talking to Mayor Randy Bair to Winfield, I want to
- 23:18Speaker 3: go back. You mentioned go Mart. Is this a new
- 23:20Speaker 3: goal Mart that the area is getting.
- 23:23Speaker 9: Yes, up there, if they don't back out, if they're
- 23:25Speaker 9: going to have to wait another year. Yeah, they're at
- 23:27Speaker 9: the red light. And there's another business which.
- 23:31Speaker 3: For people don't familiar. Mayor which red light are we
- 23:34Speaker 3: talking about.
- 23:35Speaker 9: Well, if you're not familiar Winfield, there's only one here.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I knew that and you knew that, but but I
- 23:42Speaker 3: wanted to have have you explained it to people that
- 23:43Speaker 3: maybe don't know that.
- 23:44Speaker 9: Where is it? It's a three way there at Windy's
- 23:47Speaker 9: and Giavani's. Yes, and they are wanting to put a
- 23:50Speaker 9: four waiting in there straight across you. If you've been
- 23:54Speaker 9: to the Taco bit of a new Taco bell that
- 23:56Speaker 9: it's very dangerous getting out there. If you come back
- 23:59Speaker 9: to Winfield, take in the left, but so they're gonna
- 24:01Speaker 9: put a red light in there, take the guard around
- 24:04Speaker 9: out you'd be straight into the Go Mark. It have
- 24:07Speaker 9: its own little street there along the three businesses, and
- 24:11Speaker 9: there's another business down there. It's going to go in
- 24:14Speaker 9: there for Go Mark if they don't buck out because
- 24:17Speaker 9: of the time. I mean, you know, businesses get a model.
- 24:21Speaker 9: I'm ready to do this. No, I'm gonna go someplace else.
- 24:24Speaker 9: I'm not waiting you and you ken't blaving them. And
- 24:26Speaker 9: you know, those contractors have jump every hoop that they
- 24:30Speaker 9: can jump to make this project happen. And now there
- 24:34Speaker 9: it's just and they're wanting a bunch of money for
- 24:37Speaker 9: them to put the red light into. I just I
- 24:39Speaker 9: don't understand it all, but it's I get aggravated when
- 24:43Speaker 9: you're holding the progress.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Well, if anybody can get it done to cut through
- 24:46Speaker 3: the red tape, it'd be Mayor Barrett of Winfield. What's
- 24:50Speaker 3: your big selling point for the area. This is a
- 24:52Speaker 3: question I asked when I and you were on the
- 24:54Speaker 3: Mayor Monday segment on Metro News Midday a month or
- 24:56Speaker 3: so ago. But one of the things I always ask
- 24:58Speaker 3: every mayor is is your big selling point for your town?
- 25:02Speaker 3: I mean, people are listening to us right now here
- 25:04Speaker 3: in the Canal Valley and you know, maybe they're not
- 25:07Speaker 3: happy with the area that they live in, or whatever
- 25:09Speaker 3: the case. Maybe what is your big selling point for Winfield?
- 25:12Speaker 3: When you're trying to get people to move in.
- 25:15Speaker 9: It's hard not to start with the schools up there.
- 25:18Speaker 9: I mean, we've got three schools up here that are
- 25:20Speaker 9: top notch in the state. But then it's the safety
- 25:24Speaker 9: of our little community here and we got you know,
- 25:27Speaker 9: we do have the city police, we got state police
- 25:30Speaker 9: up on the hen we've got counties. We're very very safe,
- 25:34Speaker 9: and the amount of law enforcement actually live in this
- 25:37Speaker 9: town because they've dealt with that all day and they
- 25:41Speaker 9: know if they come here they can relax and they
- 25:43Speaker 9: can enjoy their evenings. So they've done that. We are
- 25:46Speaker 9: a very safe community. We all have our problems up
- 25:49Speaker 9: in there, but Winfield is a safe little bedroom. We
- 25:52Speaker 9: always need some more things, and I wish we could
- 25:55Speaker 9: get more things up there, but we're safe. And our
- 25:58Speaker 9: schools second. And that's why all these new cool people
- 26:02Speaker 9: are coming this way. Because these young people. I want
- 26:05Speaker 9: to put my kids in a good school, and that's
- 26:08Speaker 9: why they're coming to here. Calls the schools, and then
- 26:10Speaker 9: their parents or they come because they want to be
- 26:13Speaker 9: with their grandkids. And I see it every day.
- 26:16Speaker 3: What are we going to do with that? The former
- 26:18Speaker 3: location of Fruth there in the little in the little
- 26:20Speaker 3: plaza there, man.
- 26:23Speaker 9: The former As far as I know, the Fruth is
- 26:26Speaker 9: still open there.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I thought they were leaving, Okay, I lend Fruth. I apologize.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I thought I had heard that they were. Okay, I
- 26:33Speaker 3: apologize for that.
- 26:34Speaker 9: I am there. They did had a little doctor's office for.
- 26:39Speaker 3: So okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, I stand, I stand corrected.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Then all right, I want to give you an opportunity
- 26:46Speaker 3: to plug your upcoming Putnam County homecoming that's coming up
- 26:49Speaker 3: here real soon. Talk about it.
- 26:50Speaker 9: Yes, the thirteenth or fourteenth up there. I've been called
- 26:55Speaker 9: doh to get signs to let them know, you know,
- 26:59Speaker 9: here is a call controversy. When you close up. We've
- 27:01Speaker 9: got to pray from one thirty to three up close,
- 27:04Speaker 9: eight seventeen down and anybody can sign up right up
- 27:08Speaker 9: to the right up to the event. On Sunday they
- 27:12Speaker 9: will be crowning the queens Sunday four four thirty. Of
- 27:17Speaker 9: all four schools in the county, we got bands playing
- 27:21Speaker 9: Saturday afternoon. Saturday night church service has grown unbelievable in
- 27:29Speaker 9: the Sunday mornings, three or four churches together, and that
- 27:33Speaker 9: is really a up there. They've brought some pastors in
- 27:36Speaker 9: or all three, three or four of the pastors local
- 27:39Speaker 9: will preach. It's really a that's really that's really growing,
- 27:43Speaker 9: and that's really a good message there on Sunday morning.
- 27:45Speaker 9: All right, it's growing. It'll never be the ten thousand
- 27:48Speaker 9: people it used to be or five thousand people.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Well, if you tube up like you are now, it's
- 27:51Speaker 3: going to be mayor I mean Let's don't be too pessimistic.
- 27:54Speaker 3: If you keep moving all these people into Putnam County
- 27:56Speaker 3: and not only Hurrican what you talked about Winfield, it
- 27:59Speaker 3: will there because you're well on your way, my friend.
- 28:02Speaker 9: Well, it's it's not for the lack of trime. We
- 28:05Speaker 9: do work at it, all right.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Mayor Barrett. We'll talk against soon, buddy, Thanks a lot,
- 28:09Speaker 3: and keep doing good things over there. Thank you, all right,

- 32:24Speaker 3: of course on Saturday we get ready for football. We
- 32:27Speaker 3: got WVU mouth Andeers, the return of Rich Rod as
- 32:31Speaker 3: they take on Robert Morris and my alma mater, the
- 32:34Speaker 3: Marshall Thundering Herd heading down to the hedges at Sandford
- 32:37Speaker 3: to take on the University of Georgia Bulldog. Somebody asked
- 32:42Speaker 3: me the other day because they know I'm a huge
- 32:44Speaker 3: Georgia Bulldog fan and have been ever since I was
- 32:46Speaker 3: a kid. I was born in Georgia, really no family
- 32:49Speaker 3: ties to that area other than the fact that my
- 32:51Speaker 3: father was stationed in the military there. But I became
- 32:54Speaker 3: a herschel Walker fan back when he was running wild
- 32:56Speaker 3: over everybody in that nineteen eighty season, and I followed
- 32:59Speaker 3: the Georgia Bulldog ever since. And I got I got
- 33:01Speaker 3: more Georgia Bulldog merchandise than anybody in West Virginia does.
- 33:04Speaker 3: I can tell you that. And people ask me all
- 33:06Speaker 3: the time, who are you cheering for? Well, it's got
- 33:10Speaker 3: to be the Herd. I know they're thirty nine point
- 33:11Speaker 3: underdogs in this game, but I'm a Marshall guy, so
- 33:16Speaker 3: let's go Hurd. Good luck to all the area teams, says.
- 33:18Speaker 3: High school football is back, and college football is back,
- 33:22Speaker 3: and next week the pros we'll come back. And my
- 33:24Speaker 3: Dallas Cowboys will begin their run to the Super Bowl
- 33:28Speaker 3: next Thursday night as they'll take on the Philadelpha Eagles
- 33:32Speaker 3: of finning Super Bowl champions. Sorry to my good friend
- 33:34Speaker 3: Jared Page, but the Cowboys are winning this game. Just
- 33:36Speaker 3: telling you that, Dex says Dave, I finally have to
- 33:41Speaker 3: admit that when Trump says he's going to do something,
- 33:44Speaker 3: he does it, example, cleaning up the streets of DC.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I'm reading stories and seeing pictures of guardsmen dressed in
- 33:50Speaker 3: their camo with high visibility orange vesta on picking up
- 33:54Speaker 3: trash around d C. Trump is a man of his word,
- 33:57Speaker 3: promises made promises, says a texture. Let me see here
- 34:08Speaker 3: some other texts to get to here. Okay, here it is.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Putnam County says the texture is a great place to live.
- 34:13Speaker 3: We just need roundabouts. Roundabouts will solve stop traffic caused
- 34:17Speaker 3: by stoplights. Texture. I don't disagree, but I mean in
- 34:23Speaker 3: West Virginia, and I'm critical of my home states. Sometimes
- 34:28Speaker 3: we can't navigate a three and four a way stop. Okay,
- 34:31Speaker 3: we're not there yet. On roundabouts, I'm one hundred percent
- 34:34Speaker 3: for them that it takes a little getting used to. People
- 34:36Speaker 3: heard me talk about my trip I made a couple
- 34:38Speaker 3: of weeks ago down to Georgia and the town that
- 34:41Speaker 3: we were in, it was all roundabouts everywhere you went
- 34:44Speaker 3: on Saint Simon's It's all about the roundabouts. But I
- 34:47Speaker 3: don't think we're there yet in West Virginia. I hope,
- 34:49Speaker 3: I hope we get there at some point, but we've
- 34:51Speaker 3: got to navigate three and four way stops first. So
- 34:54Speaker 3: more of the death of Tim Armstead. We learned about
- 34:58Speaker 3: his passing yes Da at the age of sixty, and
- 35:01Speaker 3: the tributes are pooring as you makes back now, Brad
- 35:04Speaker 3: Mickaelhonney has the lead story about at wv metro news
- 35:06Speaker 3: dot com, and you hear more about it later today.
- 35:10Speaker 3: During Metro News Midday. Of course, the talk Line boys
- 35:12Speaker 3: are live at the Greenbrier for the business Summit. They'll
- 35:14Speaker 3: be talking about it as well. And I will say
- 35:17Speaker 3: this about Tim Armstead. I knew him he was on
- 35:20Speaker 3: the show. I can't say that I knew him well,
- 35:25Speaker 3: but I was around him some during my time in
- 35:28Speaker 3: state government and Republican politics. He was quite simply a
- 35:31Speaker 3: good man and a man. As I mentioned earlier, that
- 35:34Speaker 3: you would be hard pressed to find anyone who would
- 35:36Speaker 3: say anything bad about which is a rarity in the
- 35:40Speaker 3: world of politics, particularly with the landscape of the political
- 35:44Speaker 3: scene the last couple of years. Even people who may
- 35:47Speaker 3: not have agreed with him respected him mainly because of
- 35:51Speaker 3: the way he treated people. He was simply he was
- 35:55Speaker 3: just simply a decent human being. He was a godly man,
- 35:57Speaker 3: very family oriented man, built a life of public service.
- 36:01Speaker 3: But here's the thing about Tim. Marms said, Tim Martinstead
- 36:03Speaker 3: would have been that guy if he were working at
- 36:05Speaker 3: the auto parts store, or if he were making you
- 36:07Speaker 3: a burger at Wendy's. He just was that good of
- 36:10Speaker 3: a guy. And Brad has an end depth story at
- 36:13Speaker 3: the website. Again, more coverage on talk Line, which is
- 36:15Speaker 3: live from the Greenbrier and later today with Amanda and
- 36:18Speaker 3: Me on Metro News Midday. Tex says, so the Western
- 36:23Speaker 3: Indian National Guard is picking up trash around DC. Let's
- 36:26Speaker 3: not forget to mention the genius idea of putting a
- 36:28Speaker 3: high visibility orange vest over top of camouflage brilliant. But
- 36:33Speaker 3: more importantly, Governor Patrick Morrissey, wouldn't the West r Indian
- 36:36Speaker 3: National Guard be better used to pick up trash around West
- 36:39Speaker 3: Virginia instead of the sea. Let me see, I'm trying
- 36:46Speaker 3: to get an answer to some question. Okay, we're back
- 36:48Speaker 3: to the roundabouts again. Morgantown has roundabouts and sold over
- 36:53Speaker 3: the place, all over the place in newer areas, they're
- 36:56Speaker 3: not an issue at all. Well again, I'm not against
- 36:58Speaker 3: roundabouts at all. I am not against them. I'm just
- 37:02Speaker 3: saying I don't know the West Virginia is there yet.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Story broke late last night that a magistrate here in
- 37:07Speaker 3: Kanawha County has resigned John Leoni. There are allegations, important
- 37:11Speaker 3: to remember, allegations only at this time, of possible sexual harassment.
- 37:17Speaker 3: For a matt Leoni was contacted by media members here
- 37:21Speaker 3: in Charleston offered no comment, but said he may release
- 37:24Speaker 3: his statement after speaking to his legal counsel. And that's
- 37:26Speaker 3: according to when this news. Leslie Rubin will have more
- 37:28Speaker 3: as the information becomes available. Two things that really don't
- 37:34Speaker 3: mean a whole lot in the big picture of things,
- 37:36Speaker 3: but had everyone talking yesterday. Uncle Herschel is back at
- 37:41Speaker 3: Cracker Bear. Our long national nightmare is over. The old
- 37:46Speaker 3: Cracker Barrel logo is back, according to the company. I'll
- 37:50Speaker 3: pause for a dramatic yawn here for a moment. I mean,
- 37:54Speaker 3: you talk about first world problems, man, this was first
- 37:57Speaker 3: world problems. When we're arguing over the logo of a
- 38:00Speaker 3: fast food establishment, and it is fast food. The fact
- 38:05Speaker 3: that people got so upset over a logo change absolutely
- 38:08Speaker 3: baffles me. And I've eaten at Cracker Barrel. As far
- 38:10Speaker 3: as chains go, it's okay. I prefer to spend my
- 38:14Speaker 3: money on local places, but that's just me. They do
- 38:17Speaker 3: have good steak and eggs, and their chicken livers aren't bad.
- 38:21Speaker 3: But when I first saw and read about this logo change,
- 38:24Speaker 3: I thought, well, that's kind of a plain looking logo
- 38:27Speaker 3: and I moved on. I didn't see it as some
- 38:30Speaker 3: sort of a major corporate left wing plot to undermined
- 38:34Speaker 3: the very fabric of society. I saw it as a
- 38:37Speaker 3: private company changing their logo, nothing more and nothing less.
- 38:41Speaker 3: But you can sleep better knowing now that it was
- 38:44Speaker 3: a victory over wokeism or whatever. Uncle Herschel, the character
- 38:49Speaker 3: in the logo, is back. In the meantime, more people
- 38:52Speaker 3: were talking about cracker Barrel over the last couple of
- 38:54Speaker 3: days than had talked about Cracker Barrel in years. Advantage
- 38:58Speaker 3: Cracker Barrel. They win for them. They got exactly what
- 39:02Speaker 3: they wanted from this whole thing. And maybe maybe maybe
- 39:06Speaker 3: I spent too much time in the wrestling business because
- 39:08Speaker 3: I see everything as a work, as we call it
- 39:11Speaker 3: in the business, including this. It was a work from
- 39:14Speaker 3: the very beginning. But that's just me being old and
- 39:18Speaker 3: cranking hating everything. So go enjoy your saw mill gravy
- 39:21Speaker 3: or whatever it's called, and know that you were probably complicit.
- 39:25Speaker 3: If you were one of the ones that took to
- 39:26Speaker 3: social media or called your talk shit, you were probably
- 39:29Speaker 3: very complicit in this. A new one to me, A
- 39:37Speaker 3: more lago face, says the texture. These are not human faces.
- 39:41Speaker 3: They are luxury meat masks meant to signal wealth and
- 39:44Speaker 3: in group belonging people such as Laura Lumer Christy No
- 39:47Speaker 3: Matt Gates can afford excellent surgeons and subtle cosmetic work.
- 39:51Speaker 3: But unless they're all had boxed procedures, it seems they
- 39:54Speaker 3: deliberately chose to look like AI generated characters. Spot On
- 39:57Speaker 3: from The Guardian says a texture text says, Dave, are
- 40:01Speaker 3: these new homes Putnam County likely to be bought by
- 40:04Speaker 3: NEWCRE employees? Besides New Core, I'm having trouble finding business
- 40:07Speaker 3: around the area that would pay enough to afford a
- 40:09Speaker 3: three hundred thousand dollar home. Maybe you can help me
- 40:11Speaker 3: out and name a few. Well, Toyota I think would
- 40:16Speaker 3: probably be would probably be one c amc Vandelia Health,
- 40:23Speaker 3: Martial Health Network just selling it out there. There's one
- 40:28Speaker 3: hundred three hundred thousand dollars in today's economy is not
- 40:32Speaker 3: a lot of money, and that's what homes are going for,
- 40:34Speaker 3: and there's a whole lot of demand for them. If
- 40:36Speaker 3: you think there's not a demand for three hundred thousand
- 40:38Speaker 3: dollar homes, you got another thing coming because there's a
- 40:40Speaker 3: waiting list for them. Can we make a list as
- 40:46Speaker 3: a texture of things? West Virginia isn't there yet? On
- 40:49Speaker 3: first two can be roundabouts and legal cannabis, says a texture. Yeah,
- 40:52Speaker 3: I'm not getting into that argument. Waffle house is better
- 40:55Speaker 3: than cracker barrel, says a texture. That's an Roundabouts are
- 41:01Speaker 3: for commies, says a Texter. And of course you know
- 41:08Speaker 3: the big story yesterday but also broke the news that
- 41:12Speaker 3: crashed the Internet that Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift are
- 41:19Speaker 3: getting married. I know, I know you care about this
- 41:22Speaker 3: about as much as I do. But it was a
- 41:24Speaker 3: big story and it will be for some time. When
- 41:27Speaker 3: the announcement came out, it got fourteen million likes on
- 41:31Speaker 3: Instagram in one hour. One hour, fourteen million likes, and
- 41:37Speaker 3: it crashed Instagram yesterday. And I've given my opinion on
- 41:44Speaker 3: Taylor Swift Travis Kelsey in the past. I'm not a
- 41:47Speaker 3: I'm fifty five years older. I will be, you know,
- 41:49Speaker 3: next month. I would think if I'm a fifty five
- 41:53Speaker 3: year old guy and I'm a fan of Taylor Swift,
- 41:56Speaker 3: that there's you know, I probably got other issues. I
- 41:59Speaker 3: don't care. I don't care who marys who. I don't care.
- 42:02Speaker 3: I respect Taylor Swift. I will say this because she
- 42:07Speaker 3: writes her own music, She produces her own music, she
- 42:09Speaker 3: owns her own music. She's a billionaire, She's the biggest
- 42:11Speaker 3: star on the planet, has been for over twenty years.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Name me another star that's been a star, a constant
- 42:17Speaker 3: star for twenty to twenty five years, as Taylor Swift
- 42:20Speaker 3: has been. There aren't any I can tell you right now.
- 42:23Speaker 3: There aren'n anny not my thing. I can't name a
- 42:25Speaker 3: single song that she does.
- 42:27Speaker 12: I don't.
- 42:28Speaker 3: As Daniel Woods, our sports guy and newsgal, and I
- 42:30Speaker 3: were talking yesterday, people that are all upset about them
- 42:32Speaker 3: cutting to scenes of Taylor Swift at NFL games. Okay,
- 42:37Speaker 3: number one, that's brilliant on behalf of the NFL, because
- 42:39Speaker 3: you've now got a lot of a different audience watching
- 42:41Speaker 3: the games just to see Taylor Swift. And if you
- 42:43Speaker 3: don't show Taylor Swift slurping all over Travis Kelsey, what
- 42:47Speaker 3: are you gonna show some fat guy drinking bush light
- 42:49Speaker 3: with his face painting cheering on his team. So yeah,
- 42:52Speaker 3: more power to him. I don't care, but a lot
- 42:55Speaker 3: of people do. Uh, Dave says a friend or Dave
- 43:02Speaker 3: says a Texter. A friend and I were discussing why
- 43:05Speaker 3: we have Second Amendment and the reason is so we
- 43:07Speaker 3: can have a regulated militia for defense against a tyranny government.
- 43:12Speaker 3: So where are these gun owners and militias When Fed's
- 43:15Speaker 3: put military on our streets, You're about to lose it
- 43:18Speaker 3: all according to and also freedom, says a text. I
- 43:23Speaker 3: had a little hard time making that out. Why do
- 43:26Speaker 3: you think West Virginia's are so stupid? Says the texture.
- 43:28Speaker 3: I don't think West Virginia's are stupid by any stretch
- 43:30Speaker 3: of the imagination. I just think we're a little bit
- 43:32Speaker 3: slow to change, myself included. I don't think that equates
- 43:36Speaker 3: to stupidity. I just think that we don't like change

- 46:55Speaker 3: With all due respect, I can remember eating chicken livers
- 46:58Speaker 3: or Cracker Barrel at one point.
- 47:00Speaker 9: Uh.
- 47:00Speaker 3: But you know I I don't. I don't. I don't.
- 47:04Speaker 3: It's nothing against Cracker Barrel, They're fine. I just would
- 47:07Speaker 3: rather support local businesses. Local, local, you know, the ones
- 47:12Speaker 3: that actually donate things back to the community. Now, I'm
- 47:14Speaker 3: gonna get all the hate from all the cracker barrel
- 47:16Speaker 3: people saying, well, they give this and they get it.
- 47:17Speaker 3: I'm sure they do. But at the end of the day,
- 47:20Speaker 3: I dis like to support local, and I do love
- 47:22Speaker 3: good chicken livers. By the way, Tex says, the addition
- 47:25Speaker 3: of these homes Putnam County, especially the single story models,
- 47:28Speaker 3: will help ease the shorties of options for residents and
- 47:30Speaker 3: larger homes who are ready to downsize. In turn, this
- 47:33Speaker 3: creates opportunities for growing families to move into those existing homes.
- 47:38Speaker 3: It's a texture good good point there, Tex says. Stoplights
- 47:43Speaker 3: or antire freedom. They force people to stop. Americans don't
- 47:46Speaker 3: like to be forced to do anything. Replace the stoplights
- 47:48Speaker 3: with roundabouts. Bring freedom to Puttnham County. No more forced
- 47:52Speaker 3: stopping freedom. And to be fair, says a texture. You
- 47:55Speaker 3: did say West Virginians can't even handle a three to
- 47:58Speaker 3: four way stop that implies we're stupid. Then put me
- 48:00Speaker 3: in there as one of the stupid West Virginians. Okay,
- 48:03Speaker 3: put me in there because I sometimes if I'm traveling,
- 48:05Speaker 3: my wife have to look over at my wife and go, Okay,
- 48:07Speaker 3: this is in their turn of mind, so put me
- 48:09Speaker 3: in there as well. Another thing I wanted to quickly
- 48:13Speaker 3: address here as we close out the show, and this
- 48:14Speaker 3: may be a little inside baseball, but just hear me
- 48:17Speaker 3: out on this. Yesterday there was a big day of news.
- 48:21Speaker 3: I mean, Justice Armstead dying coal mining death tragically in
- 48:24Speaker 3: Boone County. At a Knaw County mattert last night that
- 48:30Speaker 3: resigned Travis and Taylor getting engaged, so on and so forth.
- 48:35Speaker 3: There was another story that broke yesterday, and what I'm
- 48:38Speaker 3: gonna talk about is not so much about the incident,
- 48:42Speaker 3: but about the coverage of said event. Aaron Parker has
- 48:45Speaker 3: the story at wv metronews dot com. Former Marshall football
- 48:49Speaker 3: star and longtime NFL player Chris Massey facing four misdemeanor
- 48:52Speaker 3: charges after there was an altercation with his son's middle
- 48:55Speaker 3: school assistant football coach. Now, this all happened in Winfield.
- 48:59Speaker 3: The coach was an off duty Putnam County Sheriff's deputy. Now,
- 49:02Speaker 3: Chris Massey lives in Winfield and is an assistant coach.
- 49:04Speaker 3: I understand over there, and that's not so important in
- 49:09Speaker 3: my mind as what happened, but more of the coverage
- 49:12Speaker 3: and then the public reaction read that social media reaction
- 49:17Speaker 3: to the event. And let me explain something to you.
- 49:19Speaker 3: When you are in the news media, I don't do
- 49:22Speaker 3: a lot of news. I report on news that other
- 49:23Speaker 3: people gather, like Jeff Jenkins, Okay, you know, I just
- 49:27Speaker 3: opine up on certain things. I help out a little
- 49:29Speaker 3: bit as I can, but I'm not a newscaster. But
- 49:33Speaker 3: when you're in the news media, we deal in official stuff,
- 49:36Speaker 3: and when there is an incident like there was with
- 49:39Speaker 3: this incident, we only report the facts or the official
- 49:44Speaker 3: police report, which is what we did in this case,
- 49:47Speaker 3: as did other news outlets in the Charleston market. Once
- 49:51Speaker 3: the story was out and we reported it, as did
- 49:54Speaker 3: every other media outlet, people started running to defend either
- 49:57Speaker 3: Massy or the off duty deputy. Now let me stay
- 49:59Speaker 3: for the record, I don't know either, gentlemen. I wasn't there,
- 50:02Speaker 3: so I don't know what happened. What I do know
- 50:05Speaker 3: is what the news media has to go on is
- 50:08Speaker 3: the official police report. So when you take to social
- 50:12Speaker 3: media and you trash us or other media outlets, you
- 50:15Speaker 3: really need to be trashing the police because if you've
- 50:19Speaker 3: got a problem with an official document that's not on
- 50:23Speaker 3: Metro News or WCCHS, that's not on your local television station.
- 50:27Speaker 3: That's the official police report. That's what we have to
- 50:30Speaker 3: go on. We don't go and interview everybody and find
- 50:33Speaker 3: out what happened. We have we get an official police report.
- 50:35Speaker 3: And what we reported on was the official police report
- 50:39Speaker 3: that came out of that day in Winfield. That's it,
- 50:41Speaker 3: nothing more or nothing less. And everyone is innocential, proven guilty,
- 50:45Speaker 3: and everybody will get their day in court. But my
- 50:47Speaker 3: point is, don't shoot the messenger when these things come
- 50:50Speaker 3: out and trash us or trash one of the television
- 50:53Speaker 3: stations or the newspaper or whatever. We go on official
- 50:58Speaker 3: things and that's the office police report. That's it, Oh Texas.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Cracker Barrell learned the same lessons at bud Light Coke
- 51:08Speaker 3: and Target learned if you change what is your customer,
- 51:10Speaker 3: what your customers love about your product or establishment and
- 51:14Speaker 3: to represent, just to bend the need to vancissistic intimidations
- 51:18Speaker 3: of it's woke woosses, then they will make their voices
- 51:21Speaker 3: heard with their wireless not opening for you anymore. Once again,
- 51:23Speaker 3: go wo go Brooke. I think the entire thing was fake.
- 51:26Speaker 12: Sorry.
- 51:27Speaker 3: A lot of people work at chain restaurants. Yes they do, Yes,
- 51:30Speaker 3: they do, one hundred percent. Texas never had chicken livers
- 51:32Speaker 3: or cracker Bear, but I've had some of the best
- 51:34Speaker 3: chicken livers ever in Logan County. Absolutely dang, says the
- 51:39Speaker 3: textra How nice it must be to think that three
- 51:41Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars home is cheap. People aren't leaving no
- 51:43Speaker 3: mortgages or low mortgages on a big house for high
- 51:46Speaker 3: mortgages on a small house. Doesn't make financial sense at all.
- 51:48Speaker 3: They are going to do. They're doing exactly that. That's
- 51:53Speaker 3: what they're doing. And three hundred thousand dollars homes in
- 51:56Speaker 3: today's economy are not that expensive. I'm sorry, sorry, And
- 52:00Speaker 3: I'm not going out and write to check for three
- 52:01Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars. Okay, I'm not exactly made of money either.
- 52:05Speaker 3: I'm in the media, remember, all right, but it's not
- 52:07Speaker 3: that expensive. Tex says. I think WVRC media does a
- 52:13Speaker 3: fantastic job of bringing the info to the public. My
- 52:15Speaker 3: most trusted source in West Virginia, according to a thankster.
- 52:21Speaker 3: All right, gotta go interesting show, say a lease again.
