- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo? Luna: Yeah! I've been looking forward to this. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to the gym. We'll learn some basic vocabulary for exercising in Spanish. Luna: Oh, perfect! I've been wanting to talk about my workouts in Spanish. Where do we start? Lucas: Let's start with a common piece of equipment. Listen: las pesas. That means 'weights'. Luna: Las pesas. Las pesas. Got it. So if I'm lifting weights, I say 'Levanto pesas'? Lucas: Exactly! Levanto pesas. You're a natural. Let's hear you say it. Luna: Levanto pesas. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's move on to another machine. La cinta de correr. That's the treadmill. Luna: La cinta de correr. That's a long one. La cinta de correr. Lucas: You've got it. And if you run on it, you say 'Corro en la cinta de correr'. Luna: Corro en la cinta de correr. I love that. It sounds so official. Lucas: Yeah. And for stretching or yoga, we use la esterilla. That's a mat. Luna: La esterilla. Like a yoga mat. So 'Hago yoga en la esterilla'? Lucas: Exactly. Hago yoga en la esterilla. You're building sentences already. Luna: This is so useful. I can picture myself at the gym saying these. Lucas: Let's do a quick review. I'll say the English, you say the Spanish. Weights. Luna: Las pesas. Lucas: Treadmill. Luna: La cinta de correr. Lucas: Mat. Luna: La esterilla. Lucas: Great. Now let's use them in a little scene. Imagine you're at the gym and you see a friend. What do you say? Luna: Hola, ¿qué haces? Ah, levanto pesas. Lucas: Perfect. And if you're on the treadmill? Luna: Corro en la cinta de correr. Lucas: And if you're doing yoga? Luna: Hago yoga en la esterilla. Lucas: You're ready for the gym. Oh, and speaking of ready — if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Spanish, a handful of listeners chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that's literally what funds making this many episodes. Luna: Yeah, it's a small group that keeps it ad-free. We really appreciate it. Lucas: So back to the gym. One more phrase: '¿Cuánto tiempo corres?' — how long do you run? Luna: ¿Cuánto tiempo corres? That's good for conversation. Lucas: Exactly. Practice these phrases, and next time you're at the gym, try them out. Hasta luego, Luna. Luna: Hasta luego, Lucas. ¡A entrenar!
