- 2:43Sunny mornings send you. A Blue Hill Observatory
- 2:49and Science Center researcher, Amanda Jolie,
- 2:53records vital data, including humidity, temperature
- 2:56and rainfall, south of Boston. But each spring,
- 3:00she also notes the ripening of a wild blueberry
- 3:02bush that has thrived since the observatory's
- 3:05founding in 1885. For over 141 years, this unique
- 3:11data has revealed that blueberries now ripen
- 3:14about one week earlier on average. highlighting
- 3:17the impact of climate change. Chief scientist
- 3:21Michael I. Kono notes that the average temperature
- 3:23has increased by about 5 degrees Fahrenheit since
- 3:27the 19th century. As experts stress, climate
- 3:31change is disrupting seasonal patterns, making
- 3:33it harder for farmers to predict harvest times
- 3:36and manage crops effectively. Now on to sports.
- 3:46The United States men's national team was knocked
- 3:49out of the World Cup after a lifeless round of
- 3:5216 loss to Belgium. Lumenfield was full, but
- 3:56the atmosphere was lacking, as the team struggled
- 3:58to perform from the very start. Despite a promising
- 4:02build -up, they suffered a 4 -1 defeat, with
- 4:05Belgium scoring early and often. Players like
- 4:09Christian Pelesic and Tyler Adams failed to create
- 4:12significant opportunities. and the team appeared
- 4:15timid under pressure. After years of development,
- 4:19the U .S. team faces the painful question of
- 4:21whether they can rise to the occasion in crucial
- 4:24matches. In local sports, the Red Sox keep rolling.
- 4:30They swept the Angels this weekend, winning 8
- 4:33-1 on Saturday and 7 -5 on Sunday, extending
- 4:37their streak to three straight. Sonny Gray was
- 4:41dominant in game one, scattering four hits over
- 4:44six innings with seven strikeouts. The bats were
- 4:48just as impressive. Wilson Contreras and Ronny
- 4:51Gonzalez both went deep, with Contreras driving
- 4:54in three runs. Boston is now 1 -8 of their last
- 4:59ten and climbed back to 40 and 48, overall after
- 5:03a rough stretch. Tonight they open a three game
- 5:06set in Chicago against the White Sox at rate
- 5:10field, first pitch 740. Peyton Tall takes the
- 5:14mound for Boston opposite Noah Schultz. The Sox
- 5:18arrive with momentum on their side and they're
- 5:21hoping to build on what has been a really encouraging
- 5:24week heading into the second half. Meanwhile,
- 5:27there is some good news on the pitching front.
- 5:30Patrick Sandoval has been activated from the
- 5:33injury list and will make his team debut Thursday
- 5:36in Chicago. The left -hander has not pitched
- 5:40in the majors in roughly 13 months after Tommy
- 5:43John surgery, but his last re -abouting was dominant,
- 5:47seven strikeouts over five scoreless innings.
- 5:50He comes at exactly the right time with Ranger
- 5:53Suarez, dealing with a groin strain. In top news,
- 5:59Wildfires rage in Portugal, Greece and Spain,
- 6:03while Greek authorities warn of toxic smoke.
- 6:07The wildfire had burned across an area of 12
- 6:10,000 hectares by Sunday. More than 1 ,200 firefighters,
- 6:16backed by nearly 400 vehicles and 15 aircraft,
- 6:20tried to extinguish the blaze. Authorities urged
- 6:23residents in parts of Thessaloniki to stay indoors
- 6:27due to smoke from a burning recycling plant.
- 6:30In Greece, a fast -moving blaze triggered evacuation
- 6:33alerts for several suburbs. A 76 -year -old man
- 6:37was arrested for negligence linked to the fire.
- 6:41About 85 % of wildfires in Greece are caused
- 6:44by negligence. In business news, The 2026 FIFA
- 6:51World Cup is forecast to be the biggest gambling
- 6:54event in history. This has led to soaring trading
- 6:57volumes in June for prediction market platforms.

- 7:05volume, a 70 % increase from May's total of $17
- 7:09.9 billion. PolyMarket's International Event

- 8:42back to the show. Let's talk science. New clues
- 8:46are emerging about the origins of interstellar
- 8:49comet 3I Atlas. This comet is a fossil from a
- 8:54planetary system that formed long ago in a distant
- 8:57area of our galaxy. Research led by Martin Kordiner
- 9:01at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center indicates
- 9:04that 3I Atlas is between 10 and 12 billion years
- 9:08old. making it more than twice the age of our
- 9:10solar system. Using the ultraviolet and visual
- 9:14echel spectrograph on the European Southern Observatory's
- 9:18Very Large Telescope, scientists found unusual
- 9:21carbon and nitrogen isotopic ratios. These findings
- 9:26suggest that 3I Atlas formed far from its parent
- 9:29star, offering a unique glimpse into ancient
- 9:32planetary formation processes. and in entertainment
- 9:39news. Virtual production company Orbital Studios
- 9:43has a new brick -and -mortar home. The producer,
- 9:47whose credits include Netflix's Nemesis and Netflix's
- 9:51upcoming The Drop, A Snowfall Saga, is setting
