- 1:24It's no longer the silver spoon guys.
- 1:26We've got part time model. It's a Zumba door Blanco,
- 1:30tequila, Saint Germain. So Matt wouldn't like it.
- 1:33Aperol sprit, Aperol not spreads.
- 1:36Aperol lemon juice in Angostura bitters.
- 1:38That sounds amazing. I would absolutely try that.
- 1:41And you can get it at Auntie Maze for $10.
- 1:44It's the cocktail of the week, the part time model.
- 1:52Part time model classic. If you if you couldn't tell,

- 3:06beer crack is brought to you by them.
- 3:11All right, so for tonight, things that we're going to get
- 3:13into we're going to get into football.
- 3:16We're going to get into the Brendan Sorsby situation.
- 3:18We're going to get into the Big 12 basketball scheduling matrix.
- 3:21We're going to get into Casey Alexandria and podcasting tour.
- 3:25Just our thoughts on, you know, the the random hubbub of all the
- 3:30different parties Been on Bosco's boy, he's been on three
- 3:32MA, he's been on KSO. He's done all the all the shows
- 3:35at this point. Found out he's a Cubs fan.
- 3:38So sorry that he's a Cubs fan and you know, we're probably
- 3:42going to talk some shit on that. We're going to do some some of
- 3:44the team drafting, maybe a little bit of that live on the
- 3:47pod tonight too and seeing the 82 and O floating around there
- 3:51quite a bit. And there's a college football
- 3:53version of this that we can go through called NCAA Football
- 3:58perfect team. And there's some hyphens in
- 4:01there, but we can maybe do do a couple rounds of drafting and
- 4:04and put our ball ball knowledge skills to the test.
- 4:07But chef, how have you been, man?
- 4:09It's been a, it's been a little, well, a couple of weeks, but a
- 4:13lot of a lot of news has happened in the last couple of
- 4:15weeks. It's been a true hiatus.
- 4:22We've been on an absolute terror.
- 4:26You know, just K state news circulating in and we're not
- 4:30talking about it. But we had to get on here and
- 4:34speak to the people. We had to speak to the people.
- 4:38We have to to speak to the people indeed, the they
- 4:42announced the scheduling matrix for men's basketball.
- 4:44So we're we're going to have we're going to have all these
- 4:47things. The first thing I want to get
- 4:48into is talking about the recruiting trail State as it
- 4:52stands tonight, June 11th, Thursday 2026.
- 4:58According to the on three industry rankings, K state Curly
- 5:0130th nationally, second in the Big 12 behind the Evil Empire
- 5:07and the class score is averaging an 87.42 right now is coming on
- 5:12the heels of commitment by my second cousin.
- 5:15One moved Cooper Omat out of Great Bend, KS Stoked to see
- 5:20Cooper on the board and he's he's an awesome kid, great
- 5:25athlete. His dad played football at K
- 5:28state as a walk on had to I think medically retire at the
- 5:31time of a was on some some really good teams from like 1999
- 5:36to 2002 or 2003. So knows a lot of those guys got
- 5:41to interact with them. But Cooper very excited for him.
- 5:45Very excited for you if you're listening to this and, and just
- 5:49going down the list, we've got a couple of borderline 4 star
- 5:53guys. Let's see 22 blue chips
- 5:58according to On Three's industry ranking.
- 6:01Jack Claiborne is another guy that's got, he's got four stars
- 6:05according to the On Three industry ranking.
- 6:08But just they've been on a tear. Colin Klein has been on a tear.
- 6:13Chef, how are you feeling about the recruiting momentum that
- 6:17we've had? Who are some of the guys that
- 6:19stand out to you most and maybe who are some of the guys that
- 6:22are flying under the radar for you well?
- 6:25We kind of envisioned this when we brought Colin Klein back, you
- 6:28know, this is when he was the head coach.
- 6:31This is what we envisioned that he would do.
- 6:34Like it would be more emphasized in the recruiting trail, local
- 6:38recruiting, but, you know, dabbling in the territories with
- 6:42lots and lots of talent. And I think he's assembled a
- 6:46staff that is able to do that has, you know, more spry energy
- 6:52to reach these young fellas and get them on board early.
- 6:58And, you know, with lockdown commitments, we and we have seen
- 7:02some decommitments from the the team so far.
- 7:05But you you live in that world where you're swimming with fish,
- 7:11big fish. And sometimes you're going to
- 7:13get gut, but sometimes you're going to get the they're going
- 7:15to get the other side of it too. And I think we're in a place
- 7:19where the local talent depth wise is not all the way there.
- 7:24Kansas is a weaker Kansas class. There's some hubby in guys, but
- 7:31All in all we there was it's not as deep.
- 7:34So we went out into the Texas, Arizona, Georgia, Florida,
- 7:39Oklahoma, even dabbling in in on the Missouri side.
- 7:42So it's spread out, but there's into hubs that, you know, we've
- 7:46seen Kansas State dabble in, throughout the years, in
- 7:50climbing's years and in Bill's years.
- 7:52So I'm, I'm really, really happy.
- 7:56And the class that they have right now, it's and it's not
- 8:00over by any means. It's not over.
- 8:02I think they're they're probably about three or four more guys
- 8:05that I think they're willing to, you know, take shots on and
- 8:09bring in this class and it'd be close to 20, you know, 18.
- 8:14So right now, off the top of my head, you you speak on you spoke
- 8:19on Cooper. Obviously he's the gem of the
- 8:22class so far. Local talent, number one player
- 8:24in the state. But Brayden Harris, I mean
- 8:27that's a four-star legit 4I. I know there's some rankings
- 8:33that are, you know, have them lower end on the four-star, but
- 8:35that is legit 4 star offensive tackle that usually comes with a
- 8:40pretty penny and it takes time to get those guys.
- 8:44And we we battled with, you know, the local, the local
- 8:48school, Missouri, they got kicked out of there.
- 8:51Arkansas. I mean, these are just it.
- 8:53It's not the flashy names, but he had offers from every single
- 8:57school it seemed like. And a six, seven, 290 LB
- 9:04offensive tackle. You don't just throw a stick and
- 9:06find those guys and especially ones that move so fluid as he
- 9:10does where he's in the camps, no pads fighting off defensive ends
- 9:15that know that they're just trying to pass rush.
- 9:17That's very hard to do. And he and he shows up on tape
- 9:20like that. So I'm I'm I'm extremely happy
- 9:24with the offensive line recruiting as a whole.
- 9:27There's four-star Juco's. We we, we took a JUCO and that
- 9:32this early in the process that never happens.
- 9:34Like you, you just don't take Juco's that early and they must
- 9:39have saw something. Obviously the rankings show that
- 9:42he's like some people have him as.
- 10:02Maybe even possibly the number? Uh oh, we lost chef.
- 10:14We lost chef. This is not good.
- 10:16Yeah, Jack Claiborne, currently 68330 offensive tackle.
- 10:21He's currently ranked first nationally, first in his
- 10:24position and 1st in this in his state currently as a as a JUCO
- 10:30player. So I don't know how much stock I
- 10:32would put into the on three rankings when it comes to JUCO
- 10:36players, but it's it's interesting to see that.
- 10:38But yeah, he's he's currently weighing in as the other blue
- 10:42chip recruit currently. But you've got a bunch of guys
- 10:46or at least a few guys here, Braden Harris, Ben Hynack out of
- 10:49North Dakota, that that that could be 4 star guys by the time
- 10:54it's all said and done with their, their, their next high
- 10:57school season here in the fall. Chef, do we have you back?
- 11:02Thank God I don't know where you lost me at, but.
- 11:06We lost you at some service, had Claiborne ranked as a four-star.
- 11:12And then it just. Right.
- 11:14Yeah, it's, it's dreaded here in Columbus, OH.
- 11:17I don't know what's happening, but but yeah, I I was just, you
- 11:20know, I was just glazing the offensive line class and Coach
- 11:24Schmidt, I mean, absolutely a legend so far.
- 11:28I mean, on the recruiting, on the recruiting part of it.
- 11:31I don't know necessarily when they get on the field with
- 11:33working with what he has now, what he's going to show, but
- 11:37right now he's busting his ass recruiting.
- 11:40And I was I was just going to go through the class and I feel
- 11:44like there's some position groups that have kind of been
- 11:48locked down. Like I feel like we're solid.
- 11:51You know, we took our quarterback that I think we've
- 11:54talked since, I think we've talked since then.
- 11:57But you know offensive line maybe they take one more running
- 12:04back, got a running back commit. I don't think we take more than
- 12:081D tackle. I think we're locked in AD
- 12:11tackle. I think we take maybe one more
- 12:14edge, maybe a couple more receivers and then I don't know
- 12:20what else we're looking for after that.
- 12:23Yeah, I was going to say we've got a tight end and a wide
- 12:25receiver, but, but that's one, one of each so far.
- 12:29So, I mean, you don't necessarily want to have more
- 12:32than one tight end on in the class because we've already,
- 12:34we've already kind of, we tend a case date, at least the last few
- 12:38years, we've tended to have more tight ends and we probably know
- 12:41what to do with as far as that goes.
- 12:44So I would say we probably don't need more than one in this class
- 12:47specifically. But wide receiver, totally with
- 12:50you. You want to be able to develop
- 12:51those guys, right? You want to be able to have
- 12:53multiple wide receivers that you can work through.
- 12:55And you need to have the the guys that are studs on day one,
- 13:00but you also need to have like Jace Brown, who really developed
- 13:03through the system over the years.
- 13:05So yeah, I, I would like to see more than just one receiver in
- 13:09the class. I'm right with you there.
- 13:13And I mean, the number one guy that they have that they're
- 13:17chasing right now, he's got a familiar name and it's a Locket,
- 13:22another Locket. And I don't, I don't know how we
- 13:25feel about that because, you know, maybe in some years, I
- 13:30don't know if we even take him. You know, I, I don't know after.
- 13:34And I think it's been kind of tainted by the Sterling
- 13:37experiment. And I that's no shade at
- 13:40Sterling because Sterling, he's been serviceable in his role.
- 13:44And I think he had lower expectations than obviously
- 13:48Tyler did. But you know, it's if Sterling
- 13:54didn't have the career that he had.
- 13:58I don't know if we are that hard on is this, is this Jacob?
- 14:03I don't know if this is Jacob. Locke that were.
- 14:06Yeah, there's twins. There's twins.
- 14:08I'm not, I'm not entirely sure. Yeah, I'm not entirely sure
- 14:11which one it is. I'd have to look, But I know
- 14:14it's a Locket boy. And I think if we, if Sterling
- 14:18didn't have the career that he had, I don't think we would
- 14:21nearly be as hard on this recruitment as we are.
- 14:26You know, just looking at it. We don't want to be burned
- 14:29again, especially with roster limitations, you know, nepotism,
- 14:34all that stuff. He might be very well, he might
- 14:39be closer to Tyler than he is. You know, his brother Sterling,
- 14:43who we don't know that necessarily right off RIP.
- 14:46But it's I think it's worth a shot.
- 14:52For sure, For sure, yeah, Jacob. Jacob and Jordan Lockett are the
- 14:56two brothers Jacob's got. I mean, he's got some decent
- 15:00offers here, but mean looking at the looking at his just
- 15:05scrolling through his Twitter here, he's got offers from like
- 15:08Old Dominion, South Dakota state.
- 15:12I think I see Pitt state on here.
- 15:15So I, I would like to maybe start to see more power for
- 15:20offers from him if he truly is a take for us.
- 15:24But I mean, he from everything I've heard and everything that
- 15:28everybody said, it sounds like he's the kind of guy that could
- 15:31have the higher the 2 Jordan is the one that maybe doesn't have
- 15:35the higher ceiling. And again, he's he's maybe
- 15:38fishing in the FCS water. I think he's a baseball player.
- 15:42Yeah, yeah. It's going to be interesting
- 15:45though. I'm, I'm excited.
- 15:46I'm excited. I feel like this is a good spot
- 15:48to be in. Obviously your ranking gets
- 15:51higher the earlier you have more players typically is what we
- 15:55see. And we've got a lot of recruits
- 15:58locked down for mid June, not even mid June at this point.
- 16:02So it's it's wild to see that I don't.
- 16:05I can't remember the last time we had 18 commits by June 11th,
- 16:09if if ever. I'm not, I'm not remembering any
- 16:13of the Staffs in my lifetime, you know, go hitting the trail
- 16:18this hard, identifying. And it's very similar to what we
- 16:21saw with the basketball transfer portal where they identify the
- 16:25guys that they want. They they kind of make a plan.
- 16:29They put their heads down and they go out and try to get these
- 16:32guys locked in. So when they get to the season,
- 16:36it's not so much visits during the season and then trying to
- 16:39play catch up after, you know, when it's in December and
- 16:44they're trying to lock down a class.
- 16:45It's kind of they've already done get through July and now
- 16:50it's now it's just finishing the pieces and you kind of have your
- 16:53class assembled. Now you really have a good
- 16:56identity. You you have a really good
- 16:59identity to the class and you can kind of see where the holes
- 17:03are and what you need to fill in the portal, whether you need to
- 17:06even go young in the portal, like get some freshmen that are,
- 17:09you know, that are bouncing back or, you know, go after some old
- 17:13guys and you know, senior light and transfer portal hall.
- 17:17It it's the plan is there. I can see it and I love it.
- 17:20And I mean the, the, and it's not even that they're, you know,
- 17:24taking guys that are not wanted. It's power four wins.
- 17:30That's really what's impressing me is that they're, they're
- 17:33winning versus other power four teams and they're getting the
- 17:36guys that they want, not not taking the second fiddle or
- 17:40anything like that. They're they're literally
- 17:41getting the guys that they want and they're filling their class
- 17:43up super fast. And I love it.
- 17:45You know, there's there's guys in this class that are just, you
- 17:49know, unheralded as well. But there's, I mean, there's
- 17:52some dogs. This Logan Goggins guy.
- 17:55I mean, if he's anything like David Goggins, I mean, who's
- 17:58going to carry the boats? I mean, give me some of that.
- 18:00Yeah. There's, there's a ton of kids.
- 18:06Colton McComb. I mean, he was earlier in April
- 18:09and he's he's a guy teetering on four stars and you know, he's
- 18:14one of those very, very fast, agile linebackers that can get
- 18:18after it and go Oklahoma offer Oklahoma State offer.
- 18:22Those are the kind of guys that I'm in love with this class.
- 18:26I am in love with this class and I, and I thought how they
- 18:29finished off the class last year after once Kleiman retired.
- 18:33I, you know, I, I love this class and I love how they're
- 18:37recruiting and I thought they would be recruiting St.
- 18:40Louis harder. Maybe.
- 18:42I thought I, I thought like we would be getting like four or
- 18:45five guys out of Saint Louis. I mean, it's not over, but I
- 18:49mean, I think they're and they're also planting seeds,
- 18:53which is also the crazy part because next year's recruiting
- 18:56class, I think there's even guys that are teetering on.
- 19:00Five stars. That are that we might be in the
- 19:03lead for which is crazy. I mean, knock on wood, but that
- 19:07would be nuts. Yeah, yeah, I I've been, I'm
- 19:11overjoyed, honestly, with how Klein and this staff has been
- 19:14recruiting. You mentioned Schmidt mean you,
- 19:16you look at some of the wins here for for Schmidt, you go
- 19:19down and and you see a guy, gosh, I was just looking at him.
- 19:23Kevin, Kevin Awo. That was a recruiting win
- 19:26against Utah and Houston. Georgia Tech was in the mix
- 19:29there as well. Gosh, I just this, this class is
- 19:34very, very exciting. Kanan Smith, this is a guy that
- 19:37committed pretty early on, but that was offers from Iowa State,
- 19:41Kentucky and Baylor in the mix. So to your point, and Braden
- 19:45Harris was another guy with Missouri was in the mix with
- 19:48Cooper. You have Wisconsin, Vanderbilt
- 19:50in the mix as well as Penn State.
- 19:52Like you're getting legitimate big wins, not just against Big
- 19:5612 and ACC kind of peer institutions within the Power 4.
- 20:00You're getting some wins against guys that were definite takes
- 20:03for Big 10 and SEC programs as well.
- 20:05Says a lot to me about this this this.
- 20:09This coaching staff's recruiting prowess and just the ability of
- 20:12they're able to have the charisma and get these guys in.
- 20:16The one thing that I also think is maybe flying under the radar
- 20:18here is the fact that this is the first year we haven't had a
- 20:21spring portal in a long time. And I think this staff's ability
- 20:26to dedicate 100% of their efforts after spring ball to not
- 20:31roster retention, but focus 100% entirely on the high school
- 20:36class and putting those guys together as well as even juniors
- 20:40like you're mentioning for 2028, of course, maybe for 2029,
- 20:44getting guys into camps and things like that.
- 20:46I think that that's going a long way here.
- 20:49I think in, in them being able to walk in guys, foster those
- 20:53relationships, make sure that they're, you know, sending,
- 20:55sending Taylor Brad to all those high schools, making sure that
- 20:58he's getting out in front of kids too.
- 21:00Like I, I think that's maybe not being talked about enough.
- 21:03I think it's huge that the, the coaching staff isn't having to
- 21:07worry about going out and recruiting and retaining guys
- 21:10from their own roster and having to go out and try to get power
- 21:14for talent OR try to scout talent at the lower levels, try
- 21:17to bring them in to get them ready for summer conditioning
- 21:20and fall camp. Like that's I, I can't imagine
- 21:24how much work you would have to do to, to put into that to try
- 21:28to keep guys around and have to go out and get them.
- 21:30But I bet that's that's also got to be huge for for the staff.
- 21:35Yeah, that's, I mean, that's such an excellent point.
- 21:37I mean, you don't ever really think about that, but it's kind
- 21:40of reminiscent of like before the portal was a thing.
- 21:43Like guys could actually dedicate their lives to hitting
- 21:47the road and getting these high schools and seeing guys first
- 21:50person in the, you know, in the spring right before it like the
- 21:54next season starts up for high school football.
- 21:56So it's really, really, I'm glad you brought up that this is
- 22:15lost. You lost him.
- 22:17Again, oh, oh, oh. Back it's it's.
- 22:31I don't. I'm just going to have some
- 22:37something to do. Uh oh, all right.
- 22:51And with that, we are going to hop into our next Saturday here
- 22:54for our friends over at Heartland Beef Connection.
- 22:57This episode is also brought to you by our friends at Heartland
- 23:01Beef Connection. We are not talking about grocery
- 23:04store beef. Heartland Beef Connection
- 23:05connects Kansas and Midwest families with local ranchers.
- 23:10No middle men, no industrial processing, and no mass produced
- 23:13beef. A lot of these ranchers are
- 23:15located in Kansas, and of course, plenty of them are K
- 23:18Staters themselves. The same values, the same work
- 23:21ethic. Work ethic, Yes, Work ethic,
- 23:24that is a word. Just doing it out on the land
- 23:26instead of on the football field, which matters a lot to me
- 23:29as a 6th generation Kansan myself.
- 23:31Fun fact, Cooper, 7th generation Kansan.
- 23:35Yeah, so good for him. Paul, friend of the program,
- 23:39started Heartland Beef Connection to help support
- 23:41Midwest ranchers by matching them directly with families
- 23:44looking to buy quarter, half or whole beef shares.
- 23:47You know where your beef comes from, how it was raised and who
- 23:50raised it. And here's the part people don't
- 23:52expect. Not only does this beef taste
- 23:55better, it's actually cheaper per pound than grocery store
- 23:58beef when you buy direct. Better quality, more
- 24:01transparency, and you're not paying for the middleman.
- 24:04If you care about supporting Kansas agriculture, keeping your
- 24:07money local, and eating beef actually taste the way beef
- 24:10should, this is the way to do it.
- 24:13Here's the best part, because you're listening to Cocaine
- 24:15Willie, you can get $25 off the Heartland Beef Connection match
- 24:18fee when you mention the pod or use code CW25 S Check out
- 24:24Heartland Beef connection at heartlandbeef.net.
- 24:27Real beef, real ranchers, better beef for your money.
- 24:31Chef, what was the last beef dish you cooked?
- 24:37Last beef dish I cooked, I cooked some ground beef tacos.
- 24:42Obviously that is, you know, a staple in every American
- 24:46household. Just, you know, cheap American
- 24:49tacos, cheese seasoning and all that.
- 24:53But you know what I've been dreaming about?
- 24:55I've been dreaming about a nice juicy hanger steak.
- 24:59They call it the butcher steak. And I guarantee you, if you go
- 25:03to Heartland Beef Connection, they have that on your half cow,
- 25:07your half beef, they will have that.
- 25:10It's right there in between the flank and the, I don't even know
- 25:14what other part. It's like the plate or whatever.
- 25:18It's some part of the beef. It's right there.
- 25:20The butcher usually keeps it for themselves.
- 25:23It's so tender, it's so juicy. You don't want to ask where it
- 25:27comes from right off of the cow 'cause it's right next to the
- 25:31wean, but it's OK. Well, I didn't know that, but
- 25:37now we know. So you learned a little bit of
- 25:39agriculture here if you're listening to the pot.
- 25:43All right, so the next topic that I had outside of
- 25:46recruiting, I want to, I want to talk about just while we're on
- 25:50the subject of football, the Brennan Sarsbee situation and
- 25:54and all of the shit that's hit the fan this week with the
- 25:58temporary injunction that was granted to him by a Texas court
- 26:02on Monday, if I remember right, is when that happened.
- 26:05And crazy. For those for those who haven't
- 26:08been following I If you haven't been following this, you're
- 26:10living under a rock. I I don't know how you could
- 26:12possibly not know about this situation.
- 26:15And I'm happy for you, yeah. Yeah, but Brendan Sorsby, former
- 26:21Indiana, former Cincinnati quarterback, got recruited the
- 26:25number one recruit in the portal I think at the time to Texas
- 26:29Tech. I I would maybe take that with a
- 26:32grain of salt. I think Sam Levitz of much
- 26:34better quarterback than Brendan Sorsby is personally.
- 26:37It's not an attack on Soresby. I just think he's a better
- 26:39quarterback and I think he showed that on the field.
- 26:42But he bet on 40 of his own football games during the time
- 26:49that he was at Indiana. And maybe it's Cincinnati too.
- 26:52I think maybe just the Indiana though and $90,000 worth of
- 26:57bets. So it comes out that he has this
- 26:59gambling addiction. He goes to rehab at a bachelor
- 27:02pad in Arizona for 30 days or something.
- 27:06So he gets to play Fortnite at some bachelor pad and, and if
- 27:09you haven't seen the bachelor pad, look it up.
- 27:12It looks like a frat house. So I don't know how that could
- 27:16possibly help you with a recovery from an addiction.
- 27:20But this guy gets out and then everybody's like, well, he's
- 27:25very obviously going to get banned from because any time
- 27:28this has ever happened to pretty much anybody in history, go back
- 27:32to Pete Rose, Jonte Porter and some of the guys that this has
- 27:36happened to where they were literally, you know, betting on
- 27:39their own games and over unders and player props and things like
- 27:42that. Banned for life from the sport,
- 27:45from the game, from the league and sores BNC AA rules that
- 27:52sores B is ineligible for his final season of college
- 27:56football, which is what this and this judge in Texas, Lubbock
- 28:03Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit or something like that.
- 28:06The the guy recuses himself because he's a Texas Tech alum.
- 28:09So a guy from who's a Houston alum comes in and rules on this
- 28:13temporary injunction and says Brennan Sorsby will be suspended
- 28:18for two games, will be the punishment that he received.
- 28:21So he's going to miss out on playing Oregon State and my
- 28:24wife's alma mater of Abilene Christian University, which
- 28:28couple years ago they actually got in a dogfight with Texas
- 28:30Tech 5251 and barely a victory there.
- 28:33Texas Tech dead. But anyway, temporary injunction
- 28:37is granted. So Soresby has ruled that he's
- 28:40eligible according to this court, despite what the NCAA has
- 28:43said, despite what the Big 12 has said, despite what everybody
- 28:47with a brain has said and doesn't have a fucking cactus
- 28:49emoji next to their Twitter handle.
- 28:52Shout out to Scott. I lifted that from him.
- 28:55Scott at Bosco's voice. But I have to say it because I
- 28:58wanted to say it, but it's just, it's, it's heinous to me that
- 29:03he's being allowed to play. It's I understand that if he's
- 29:09has an addiction problem and he's recovering from that, we
- 29:12need to put the the person first.
- 29:14I'm 100% on board with that. But in on what planet does it
- 29:18make sense for us to allow a guy who is addicting to gambling on
- 29:23football while playing football to let him play, to do half of
- 29:27the equation there? What in what world does it make
- 29:30sense for us to let him do half of that?
- 29:33I just don't understand how it's going to help with his recovery
- 29:36process. And I'm not an addiction
- 29:38counselor. I'm not a sports gambling addict
- 29:42myself, not really an addict of anything myself.
- 29:45So I don't really understand the approach here, but he sure
- 29:50certainly should not be eligible just based on Preston alone.
- 29:54We saw this with Hunter Decker's, Hunter Decker's at
- 29:56Iowa State two years ago. I think Rocco Beck's freshman
- 30:00year was banned, kicked off the team, banned from playing for
- 30:05betting on other teams, not even his own team, but other teams
- 30:11that played other sports in Iowa State.
- 30:13So yeah, sure, there's a maybe some insider information there,
- 30:16but the degree of, of difference between that and this and the
- 30:21the punishment for one versus the other is absolutely
- 30:26ridiculous. So Cody Campbell's kind of going
- 30:29back and forth and saying, you know, one thing out of his mouth
- 30:32that he wants this, this act to get past Chris.
- 30:35But he's also at the same time Ted Cruz, who's pushing this
- 30:39bill, is saying that that this wouldn't be allowed to happen
- 30:43under the bill. So, but Cody Campbell's paying
- 30:46legal fees. There's all sorts of crazy going
- 30:48on with this. And I hopefully that's a good
- 30:50high level overview of what's happening here for everybody
- 30:53who's listening or watching this.
- 30:54But again, we're not getting super in the weeds, but I want
- 30:57chef's thoughts, candid feedback, reactions on the
- 31:01situation, and we'll let the conversation evolve from there.
- 31:05It's, it's really just sad. And you described it perfectly.
- 31:09I mean, there's countless, countless accounts of just
- 31:15examples of how this should have played out.
- 31:20It's clearly somebody is working behind the scenes to make this
- 31:25happen because we've defanged and declawed the NCA to the
- 31:31point where I mean, are we even under the NCA?
- 31:34Are we just are the are called football players, literally just
- 31:38citizens that were just playing and the courts rule everything.
- 31:41What what what world is is it that you can have somebody bet
- 31:45on football games and have them play football?
- 31:48Is mind the, you know, not to poo poo on the addiction part of
- 31:54it, but like you said, I mean, just because you have an
- 31:57addiction does not mean that you are you're just you're not.
- 32:07There's no consequences for you there.
- 32:09There's literally no consequences to this where even
- 32:14if he was, even if he went through the rehab process,
- 32:17you're allowing him back into the sport that he is addicted
- 32:19to. It's like somebody addicted to
- 32:21meth. They steal something and we
- 32:24clearly see that the meth is driving you to stealing stuff.
- 32:28Let's just put him in, let's get him clean, but just put him in
- 32:33a, a room full of valuable stuff.
- 32:35It just doesn't make any sense. I, I just, I'm lost.
- 32:40I'm lost because I don't know where, where this leads to.
- 32:43Like do we just find judges on the lowest circuit of anywhere?
- 32:49Anybody that's just passed the bar to, you know, go down and
- 32:53just make any ruling that we want and there's no rules.
- 32:56I just don't get it. I literally don't get it.
- 33:01And the Hunter Decker things, I mean, did he end up playing
- 33:08football again, right? Am I tripping?
- 33:11Did he didn't he end up playing like at a lower level?
- 33:13I don't know. I thought he did.
- 33:16I thought he played at like even an eye or something but.
- 33:20He's a, he's a quarterback. I.
- 33:22Don't know but. Hitler is apparently in the UFL.
- 33:26Yeah, he did. He did.
- 33:29He did play at Iowa Western, but.
- 33:31But again, yeah, the the punishment he was, he was kicked
- 33:35off of the Iowa statement. I think he unenrolled from Iowa
- 33:38State as a result of that. So OK, you go play the JUCO.
- 33:43That's great. Which apparently isn't even,
- 33:47you're not, you know, it doesn't take any of your eligibility
- 33:50away. So it's really like you're just
- 33:51not even playing football because, you know, the, the
- 33:54Pavia situation, they're getting extra years of football because
- 33:59they played at JUCO, which doesn't count towards your
- 34:01eligibility. It's a whole different thing
- 34:03that we've lost the plot on college football in general.
- 34:07We've we've completely lost it. There are teams playing by the
- 34:11rules. There are teams not playing by
- 34:13the rules. There's players playing by the
- 34:14rules. There's players not playing by
- 34:16the rules. We're paying players
- 34:17astronomical amount of money. We're asking Ted Cruz of all
- 34:21people to try to save the sport and put some guardrails on this
- 34:28thing. It just we're in bizarro world.
- 34:31It doesn't make any sense. Sores be as a player.
- 34:36I'd, you know, and you know, that was Cody Campbell's
- 34:41argument that he had on some I can't remember that Dan Dokic, I
- 34:45think was the the podcast he was on, which is the fall off of Dan
- 34:49Dokic is absolutely insane. But he was on that podcast, you
- 34:56know, saying if it was a guy at LSU that nobody would even care
- 35:00about this. Yeah, we would.
- 35:02Everybody would care about this. What are you talking about?
- 35:06And, like, it was counter intuitive to his argument.
- 35:09Like, oh, they don't want Texas Tech playing with the big boys.
- 35:13Yeah. Like Lane Kiffin more than they
- 35:15dislike Joey McGuire. Make him a snake go, they're
- 35:19going to do it. It just doesn't make any sense
- 35:22because if if nobody cared about LSI mean if nobody cared about
- 35:26Texas Tech enough where they didn't want him playing with the
- 35:29big boys, like why would they care?
- 35:31But then they would definitely care if it was LSU.
- 35:34It just doesn't make any sense. And then Joey, Joey McGuire,
- 35:37he's talking hot Mike. I mean, listen, before this
- 35:42ruling, Texas Tech was the darling of the country.
- 35:46Like they everybody was like on Texas Tech's side, like, yeah,
- 35:49stick at the Texas and all this stuff.
- 35:51They're talking shit about you. And you, you responded back,
- 35:54let's play them all this stuff. And now Joey McGuire saying
- 35:58like, oh, we let murderers in and wife abusers and domestic
- 36:02violence people play football. Why shouldn't we get letting him
- 36:07have a chance? Brother, what are you talking
- 36:11about? Like get out of here.
- 36:12Like it's it's crazy. Like don't, don't straw man my
- 36:16argument, brother. No one's saying anything about
- 36:18domestic violence. Like, come on, it's a classic.
- 36:21It's a classic case of what about ISM?
- 36:23Like you can Google what about ISM if you've never heard of it,
- 36:25but it's basically the idea of like what you just stated, of
- 36:29like trying to make your situation sound less bad by
- 36:33saying, well, what about murderers and what about
- 36:36rapists? Like OK, this is not relevant.
- 36:41Get them all, first of all, get them all out.
- 36:43Who cares? But you can't bet on the sport
- 36:46and then expect to just come back in like you didn't do
- 36:49anything. You're not resolve of all
- 36:52consequences because you went to rehab, brother.
- 36:55It just doesn't make any sense. And then for a judge to just be
- 36:58able to say, hey, he can play the NCA don't follow their
- 37:03rules. Who cares why?
- 37:05If that's the case, let's all go to court.
- 37:07Why are we have 105 man roster, put 137 on them and then say a
- 37:14judge from Kansas is saying yeah, yeah, it's
- 37:17unconstitutional and not let them play football.
- 37:20Come on, get. Out of here, you're absolutely
- 37:26right. I mean, this opens up just a
- 37:27Pandora's box as if it wasn't already open, right, With the
- 37:30Diego Pavia stuff and this and that, but it just opens up.
- 37:34So I hadn't even thought about the implication that you could
- 37:37just try to potentially get a judge in Kansas to allow you to
- 37:41do this, that, or the other just because they're AK State alum.
- 37:45Granted, we don't have a law school, but I don't know.
- 37:47It's just it's, it's, it's our world.
- 37:50Like you said. I just don't.
- 37:53I hate it. I hate it.
- 37:54It sucks. It pisses me off.
- 37:56If you've got a cactus emoji, if you're a Texas Tech fan and
- 37:59you're listening to this, please provide me with a rational
- 38:03argument as to why, other than, oh, sharing a video of Nick
- 38:09Saban saying, oh, we should give people second chances and oh,
- 38:12he's dealing with an addiction and boohoo, we need to, we need
- 38:16to care about sores. Be the the person, not not the
- 38:20attic. I'm like, dude, you people are
- 38:22so just you admit what happened here.
- 38:26What happened here was you, you spent 5 whatever $1,000,000 on
- 38:33your quarterback this season. So you blew a lot of nil money,
- 38:37ref share money on this guy. You're not going to get a return
- 38:40on investment out of them because he's, if he's ruled
- 38:43ineligible, that's just money down the drain unless they
- 38:45clawed back from him somehow because there's something into
- 38:49his contract or if he doesn't play a game, he doesn't get the
- 38:52money. But you, you spent this money on
- 38:55this guy. You want him to be able to play.
- 38:58And because the judge said that he can play, you're very excited
- 39:01about it. Just tell us what?
- 39:03Just say it. Say that's what it is.
- 39:05That's why you're you're excited.
- 39:08You're not doing this because you actually care about this
- 39:11person. Let's be realistic here.
- 39:14Like I'm sick of all these people on Twitter saying they
- 39:16actually care about his recovery and the person.
- 39:19No, you want to win games on the football field that care about,
- 39:23just be real about it. State that upfront like I'm sick
- 39:27of this like run around that they're giving everybody all
- 39:31these fucking tech fans. So it's it's kind of driving me
- 39:34crazy and I'm I'm very much over it, but those are my final
- 39:38thoughts on it. If you've got any final
- 39:40thoughts, the the mic is yours. Yeah, I mean, it's just funny.
- 39:44I mean, they you can pander to like your whims, but like the
- 39:49reality is like the video that you you were talking about with
- 39:54the Nick Saban, that's Mussin Muhammad.
- 39:56Like they were talking about Mussin Muhammad and he did
- 39:59something crazy and they wanted him kicked off the team, but he
- 40:05gave him a second chance. It's not the NCAA kicked them
- 40:09off the team. That was that was that was
- 40:13either Nick, Nick Saban's decision to kick him off a
- 40:16Michigan State's team. If he didn't, he didn't.
- 40:19If he did, he did. The NCAA ruled that he is
- 40:22ineligible because he he bet money on football games that
- 40:26he's involved in. Which is that is just one of not
- 40:30to do that. It's like true marriage.
- 40:35It's like rule #1 don't do that. They had there's like a hard
- 40:41line. They make 30 for 30s about this
- 40:43stuff, like people betting on games, referees betting on
- 40:47games. Like if a referee bet on a game
- 40:50and like the NCA found out about it, do you want him ref in games
- 40:54still Probably not. But but, but what if they went
- 40:58to a court and a judge says, oh, he's got to be able to ref
- 41:00games? Well, because he's an addict and
- 41:03he's he's in the recovery process.
- 41:05We need to let that. Man and that appreciate games
- 41:09and this is where I get to because if it was an official
- 41:12they're employed by the CA okay, these college athletes aren't
- 41:19employed by the so I that's where I'm getting at like maybe
- 41:24maybe these bills are necessary. Maybe this stuff it, but I just
- 41:28don't like the judicial system because if it if a player in the
- 41:32NFL was doing the same thing that Brennan Sorsby did, a
- 41:37backup quarterback for the New York Jets, the league would kick
- 41:40him out and he would never be able to play in the NFL again.
- 41:44And a judge could not tell them not to.
- 41:46And it's because we're not collectively bargained.
- 41:48I don't know what the steps is, why the judicial system has such
- 41:53a reign of power over collegiate sports, but I don't like it.
- 41:59I don't like it. And I was always a proponent of
- 42:01I don't like the NCAAI, don't like this.
- 42:04I don't like how they ran things, but my God, I wish we
- 42:08could go back to that. I wish we could go back to the
- 42:12players not being able to, you know, the players getting
- 42:15suspended because they sold some jewelry to a booster or
- 42:18something. Like, give me back to those
- 42:20days. They made more sense than they
- 42:22do right now. It just does it.
- 42:24It irks me, but I'm done with this conversation.
- 42:26You're done with this conversation.
- 42:28Let's get to happier times. Yeah, happier times, meaning
- 42:31we've got the scheduling matrix and, well, I don't know how much
- 42:35happier is the scheduling matrix.
- 42:38Then, then, then unhappy stuff. Let me, I'm going to pull up my
- 42:41screen here and share the matrix itself.
- 42:45So Big 12. Win some of these games.
- 42:47Let's go. That is fair.
- 42:49That is fair. So Big 12 men's basketball now.
- 42:52Sorry, I gotta get rid of that. So that's a work thing.
- 42:56OK, They they announced the schedule and it's not the
- 43:00schedule, but the matrix. So K State's home and away team.
- 43:04So the only teams that we play home and away, we've got Arizona
- 43:08State, Cincinnati and KU. The home only's are Arizona.
- 43:14Two of those are winnable. Yeah, Arizona, Colorado,
- 43:21Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas Tech are home only and
- 43:26then away only. Baylor, BYUUCF, Iowa State of
- 43:30Utah and West Virginia. Oh, look who decided to join us.
- 43:36Matthew Dellavedova, how much you dare?
- 43:40Saint Mary's legend. What up, baby?
- 43:45What's up? I I wanted to pop in.
- 43:49I wanted to pop in just real quick because I know there's
- 43:52going to be some slander later on revolving around me and not
- 43:57being able to join today. But just want to say one thing.
- 44:02First off, it's great to see everybody.
- 44:04It's great to be back #2 fuck Texas Tech.
- 44:14I know I was there, I was there, but 33.
- 44:19Just wanted to say excited for our upcoming season and working
- 44:24with you all. I was going to just mention one
- 44:28little little tidbit about the opponent matrix.
- 44:31And something that's very frustrating is the fact that,
- 44:34again, we are not going to have Iowa State at home this year.
- 44:38Terrible, a terrible decision by the Big 12.
- 44:41When we get stuck with Arizona State and Cincinnati, like what
- 44:47are we doing here? Nobody wants to play those teams
- 44:50twice. Talk, somebody talk.
- 44:55I'd, I'm, I'm in agreeance with you, I, you know, I have a long
- 44:59standing feud with Cincinnati and everything about Cincinnati.
- 45:02I hate them and I it's closer to home.
- 45:08But All in all, it's just bad the home in a ways.
- 45:11Kansas obviously, but they're winnable.
- 45:13That's the thing. They are very winnable and it's
- 45:17going to be fun to see. You know, the guy that we wanted
- 45:22as our head coach, We get two shots at him.
- 45:26I remember an episode not too long ago when we did a, we did
- 45:30a, an episode about Casey Alexander coming in and we were
- 45:34going to have a chance to put a foot up.
- 45:36I don't even remember his name. What is his name?
- 45:39Derrick Calhoun. Derrick Calhoun, The.
- 45:41Five star commit from high school or something recently.
- 45:45You think he's hitting the recruiting trail pretty hard,
- 45:47pretty well, so I'm not like this.
- 45:51Well, I'm, I'm excited to get an opportunity to put, you know,
- 45:55foot the ass on the basketball court.
- 45:57But like you were saying, not being able to, not seeing BYU at
- 46:02home, not seeing Iowa State at home, and obviously Jerome Tang
- 46:07not being able to come back to Manhattan is also, you know,
- 46:12it's a crime in itself. Because I mean, we might have a
- 46:15chance, an opportunity to play them in our tournament at the
- 46:19beginning of the season. But if we don't see him, we're
- 46:22not going to be able to have Jerome Tang come back to
- 46:25Manhattan. And no.
- 46:26Heckling. No.
- 46:28Heckling, no. Whatever.
- 46:29Who knows, maybe, maybe we give him his flowers.
- 46:31I have no idea. But yeah, it the scheduling
- 46:36matrix, it it, it sets up for chances to win.
- 46:41I do like that. Chances to win?
- 46:44We do get some good teams. You know what, if you want to
- 46:46get the good teams, it'd be good to get them at home.
- 46:49Honestly. Arizona.
- 46:50Houston. But I also see, I also see TCU,
- 46:56Oklahoma State and Colorado on there.
- 46:59That's three home wins right there.
- 47:01I see three home wins. Well, we said that last year
- 47:05though too, so. Yeah, we were.
- 47:07Yeah. But we have Casey Alexander this
- 47:10time though, so. I know, I know.
- 47:12We'll see. OK, well I just wanted to pop
- 47:16in. Real quick, go outside the
- 47:18restaurant to just RIP a dart real quick and.
- 47:20Then no, no, no, no, no. There's no dart.
- 47:22There's no dart ripping here. What are we talking about?
- 47:26I just got us 3 new subscribers, so you need to calm down.
- 47:30I'm actually, I'm in Iowa right now.
- 47:33I'm in Iowa in a, in a small town in Iowa.
- 47:39Half Iowa fans, half Iowa State. Dox yourself but well, I'm not
- 47:45doxing myself. I'm like doxing.
- 47:47Go cats. So so.
- 47:49Go cats, baby. Enjoy, enjoy the rest of the
- 47:52show. I had to pop on.
- 47:55You can talk slander. You can talk slander about me.
- 47:57It's fine. Man, my Internet has never been
- 47:59smoother once Matt got on. I know, I know, I can actually
- 48:04see like chef's like skin routine.
- 48:07That's how clear this Internet is.
- 48:10I What did you do? It's a lot of grease.
- 48:14I've been getting fat over the summer, so Oh no, it's OK, it's
- 48:20all right. It's all right, but all right,
- 48:23I'll leave. See you.
- 48:30Just give a nice call before he leaves.
- 48:34He's still. He's also still there.
- 48:36OK, we're moving. From the stage all right, so I I
- 48:41hate the scheduling matrix. I think it's awful.
- 48:43I think it's awful just from a there there's no protection of
- 48:47rivalries. There's no OK, it's, it's been a
- 48:50it's been a complaint I've had with the Big 12 since we
- 48:53expanded under your mark is they are letting think they're
- 48:59letting rivalries go. But the thing I don't understand
- 49:01about this is if we're going to try at some point to package
- 49:05basketball as a separate product, ultimately what you
- 49:08need for that is enough eyeballs to drive your products price
- 49:13value up to drive up more demand for the supply that you're
- 49:17putting out there. And when I look at this schedule
- 49:19and I look at the protective, like look at the rivals they're
- 49:22putting on here for home and away, like, OK, Arizona has one
- 49:26rival on there. I guess you could maybe throw
- 49:29BYU in in the mixer. I know they played a lot
- 49:31historically, but that's not a rivalry per SE.
- 49:36Arizona State, their only rival on here is Arizona.
- 49:40I mean, you're not throwing any of the old PAC 12 schools and
- 49:42you're not throwing in Utah or Colorado for K State.
- 49:47When you look at that one, again, only one old Big 8 school
- 49:51is on your home and away. You've got five teams, 4, four
- 49:55teams, Colorado, K State, KU, Iowa State, Oklahoma State.
- 49:59You've got five teams, Big Eight that are in this conference as
- 50:03it's currently composed. You should have at least I think
- 50:07your three-game should be against if you're going to do 3
- 50:10games for everyone, your three-game should be against old
- 50:12Big 8 opponents. I don't care if it's Oklahoma
- 50:15State or Colorado, but I would like to have one or the other
- 50:18because it would be really nice for me to be able to go to an
- 50:21away game every year older. But again, there's just there's
- 50:25no respect for the history of the conference or even the
- 50:30history of the member schools. And that's what pisses me off
- 50:33about this is your mark in the conference, clearly do not care.
- 50:37But again, like, if you're going to try to go eyeballs.
- 50:40So let's throw the history thing out of the out of the window
- 50:42here. If you want eyeballs, why isn't
- 50:44KU playing Arizona as one of the home and away?
- 50:47Why isn't KU playing BYU and one of the home and away?
- 50:51If we're not going to care about this, if we just want like the
- 50:53matchups that are going to get eyeballs, why aren't we going
- 50:56that route here? That's the thing that doesn't
- 50:58make sense to me, is it? It just feels like there's no
- 51:01logic behind the choices. I'll say this, I mean, I get
- 51:06what I get your gripe, and I love the historical aspect of
- 51:09this. But to grow your conference, you
- 51:13know, All in all, we can't have this division of the old versus
- 51:19the new and, you know, keeping them separated.
- 51:21You kind of have to grow the conference together and unify
- 51:25them. Because if your eyeball thing
- 51:28makes sense, you want Arizona playing KU.
- 51:31Those are the best teams right now.
- 51:33I don't know how long they want to, but you know, obviously
- 51:36they're doing this year by year, but you don't want first of all,
- 51:40you don't want your your best teams necessarily taking a bunch
- 51:44of L's because if you got Arizona playing KU, maybe
- 51:48Arizona sweeps them. That's two losses for KU.
- 51:51You don't necessarily want that. But I can see where your, your
- 51:56argument comes from, but as a, a building of brands for this, for
- 52:01this basketball conference, you kind of want everybody to get a
- 52:05little piece of everybody. Because if it was, if it was the
- 52:08way you want it, Arizona would play nobody.
- 52:12They just would. Utah would play nobody.
- 52:15Get them out of there. And it's it's unfortunate
- 52:19because like you said, the old Big 8, it would make sense to
- 52:23get them in there and the rivalries would be great and
- 52:25they would keep them building over year over year.
- 52:28I hate seeing that we don't get to play Iowa State year over
- 52:31year, but Oklahoma State's got to play somebody.
- 52:34West Virginia's got to play somebody.
- 52:36And, and it's it's unfortunate, but I can see it is balanced.
- 52:41It is balanced. That's what I will say.
- 52:43It is balanced. And I think this gives a lot of
- 52:45teams opportunities to get to this NCAA tournament because
- 52:49these home and away matchups are really what's going to drive it
- 52:54because you want to win a lot of your home games.
- 52:58You're OK with splitting your you're, you're losing your away
- 53:02game somewhat. But these home and aways you got
- 53:05to if you can get a a sweep here, a sweep there, that's what
- 53:09really drives teams to get to the NCAA tournament.
- 53:13And if you have it where KU's playing Arizona, Baylor and
- 53:16Kansas State. But like, even if the eyeballs
- 53:20and for that you're you're giving a chance to KU or one of
- 53:26those teams to get swept. And you don't necessarily want
- 53:28that as a conference because you want them to be able to make the
- 53:31NCAA tournament. That's the only argument I can
- 53:33think of. And that's just playing devil's
- 53:35advocate. But I was with you.
- 53:37I want some of the historic stuff.
- 53:39I want some of the best teams playing the best teams.
- 53:42But it's for the future of this conference and you know, making
- 53:48as much getting, you know, the most bang for your buck out of
- 53:53the conference. You got to kind of balance it.
- 53:55You got to have some of these home and away for some cupcakes
- 53:58for some of these teams. I mean, I don't I don't think
- 54:01KKU got any cupcakes for their home and away and they're I
- 54:06don't I know this isn't AKU podcast, but I mean they.
- 54:10Away at Arizona and Houston. Yeah, I mean, they kind of got
- 54:14shaft BYUI mean it's tough, it's tough.
- 54:19I mean, they're home. They shouldn't lose a lot of
- 54:21home games, though. They should not.
- 54:23Meanwhile, meanwhile, I, yeah, well, I, I the other thing, the
- 54:28last thing I'll say on the on the rivalries thing is they,
- 54:31they also removed what had previously been protective
- 54:36rivals. They removed a couple of them,
- 54:39at least one of them, TCU is not playing Baylor in a home and
- 54:42away. And that's been a protective
- 54:44rivalry on the football side and I think on the basketball side
- 54:48as well. So that's that's just another
- 54:51example of why would you do that?
- 54:56They're they're those two teams are each other's biggest rivals.
- 55:00You're not going to give them that, that that doesn't make
- 55:03sense to me. So that's that's the last thing
- 55:06I'll say on. You yeah, it's, it's, it's
- 55:09unfortunate, but I think that might be where the conference is
- 55:12going. I think they're kind of like the
- 55:14Big 8 was the Big eight. That is what it was.
- 55:17But like we're, we're a whole new conference now.
- 55:20We want everybody to be able to play everybody.
- 55:22And maybe maybe in the future, our kids, kids, our kids,
- 55:27they'll know these teams as rivals.
- 55:30They will, they'll just that that is what it was like.
- 55:33They, they don't remember the Big Eight.
- 55:35I barely remember the Big Eight. But like, I, I know them as
- 55:40rivals. But future rivalries are born.
- 55:43They have to be born. Yeah, No, that's fair.
- 55:45That's fair. I mean, my, my biggest rivals
- 55:47growing up that I can think of, honestly, it's like, yeah,
- 55:50Nebraska is in there, but that's, that's faded away.
- 55:54But you know, with the recent resurgence on the basketball,
- 55:57having to play them kind of come back to into the fold a little
- 56:01bit. But you know, honestly, like
- 56:02teams I hate are like Texas AM Oklahoma, like Missouri.
- 56:07Those are the teams I, I like hate.
- 56:10That's I just think of the old, the old Big 12 days.
- 56:13But yeah, yeah, I, I don't love the matrix.
- 56:17I do think that the schedule at least the the home and away, the
- 56:21home and away split there works out to our advantage like
- 56:25playing Utah away. I think if if this team is even
- 56:32like I don't even if this team is even just like a 500 slightly
- 56:38above 500 team, you can beat Utah.
- 56:41I think you can beat UCFI think you can.
- 56:44I know the matrix didn't get is is pulled down right now, but
- 56:49that's 17 games right I. Believe it's 18. 18.
- 56:56They were debating that, right, because they were debating
- 56:58potentially going back to 20. OK, 8:00 and 10:00 with that
- 57:04schedule, I'm OK. I'm OK with eight and ten.
- 57:08Yeah, I can see eight wins there.
- 57:11There's no reason. You can get Arizona State twice.
- 57:14You can get Cincinnati at least once.
- 57:17Yeah, that's. Three, you could get KU once at
- 57:20home. Not maybe.
- 57:22I'm not. I'm not going to.
- 57:23I'm going to put that as a sweep for KU.
- 57:25I'm I'm be honest. So 3 So OK home games Colorado.
- 57:29Yes, got to get it. Oklahoma State.
- 57:32You have to have it. You.
- 57:34You got to get them. I don't know if you beat Texas
- 57:37Tech or not, but we'll see. Probably not.
- 57:39I think you get the revenge game against Scott Drew, Baylor and
- 57:43Coach Tang. On the road.
- 57:45Yes, yes. I like it.
- 57:46I like it. So where are we at 7:00?
- 57:48That's seven and then UCF. Got to get them.
- 57:53It could be 9. I could see this being 9:00 and
- 57:569:00. Optimistically, that's where I'm
- 57:59aiming. And I know the past few seasons
- 58:02me and you have come to an agreement that we just don't put
- 58:05expectations on these basketball teams.
- 58:07We just don't do it. But in my fairy tale world, you
- 58:11know, in football, we're always talking undefeated this playoff,
- 58:15this that, whatever. We've had a we've had a long
- 58:18standing relationship with football that our floor is eight
- 58:23wins. You know, we don't like going
- 58:26below that. Eight wins is right the sweet
- 58:29spot where where we need to be. But we can we can always dream
- 58:33big in basketball. We've just not even had a floor.
- 58:37So it is really hard to put a pipe dream on it.
- 58:40And I think for the pipe dream this year, if we could go 9 to 9
- 58:44in conference, I will kiss Casey Alexander's bald head.
- 58:50Absolutely. Is it?
- 58:51Absolutely a giant fathead of Casey Alexander's head right
- 58:56here. And I'll kiss him.
- 58:58Yeah, I'm I'm with you few 1000%.
- 59:01Speaking of Casey Alexander's perfect segue, chef, you team me
- 59:05up perfectly for that. He's been going on all the
- 59:07podcasts, obviously not ours because we're blackballed.
- 59:10Just give him the name being Cocaine Willie.
- 59:13But he has gone on ours. But he's been on Bosco's boys.
- 59:15He's been on the KSO show, He's been on The Game came in with
- 59:20Mitch Fortner. What are your thoughts on some
- 59:23of the things he's been talking about?
- 59:24He's gotten a lot of really good questions around roster
- 59:27construction. You know what it's like living
- 59:30in Manhattan and and kind of living outside of the the
- 59:33southeast region for the first time in his life about his
- 59:37agents being Cubs fan and and things like that.
- 59:40But what are some of the highlights of of this media tour
- 59:43that he's gone on for you? Was there anything that
- 59:46surprised you? Is you're pleased to hear?
- 59:50Not pleased to hear just thoughts on on his media.
- 59:53Tour I think there's two different ways that I look at
- 59:56it. One, getting to know Casey
- 1:00:00Alexander just from him speaking, genuinely a good dude.
- 1:00:05I like that. I like that he has the persona
- 1:00:07that he is humbled he is. He's what?
- 1:00:11Oh yeah. Beer with him like.
- 1:00:13For sure. Yeah.
- 1:00:14I mean, that's he, he loves baseball.
- 1:00:15That's, you know, throw a couple Brewskies back, watch he he
- 1:00:18likes the Cubs. I'm not going to hold that
- 1:00:20against them. That's a national brand.
- 1:00:23But I mean, he's just a genuinely good dude.
- 1:00:26He loves basketball. He loves, he loves his family.
- 1:00:29He loves, you know, the people that he's with.
- 1:00:33He loves his circle. I like that about him.
- 1:00:35I like that he, you know, respects the business that he's
- 1:00:40going to go do it the way he wants to do it.
- 1:00:43And then there's the basketball side of things.
- 1:00:46And we've known that he said some things about, you know, the
- 1:00:51the style of offense that he runs.
- 1:00:53And it kind of ties back with that last one that I made on the
- 1:00:56him personality about his basketball and that how he's
- 1:00:59going to do it the way he wants to do it.
- 1:01:01He he's saying things where that he doesn't know who the best
- 1:01:07player is going to be this, that and the the third.
- 1:01:11I don't know. I don't know what to take from
- 1:01:13the basketball side of it because it's not unset.
- 1:01:16It's not unsettling. Don't don't get me wrong.
- 1:01:18I'm not saying that I'm concerned about the basketball
- 1:01:21part of it because he is a very good basketball coach.
- 1:01:24I don't think he's a roll the floor, but he he has said some
- 1:01:27things that are very roll the ball out there kind of things.
- 1:01:32And I that is a concern of mine. But it's not unsettling where
- 1:01:37I'm not going to give him a shot.
- 1:01:39But he is saying some things and he knows ball.
- 1:01:43That's the one thing I do know that he knows ball and the way
- 1:01:48he's assembled the roster. It's it's very yin and Yang on
- 1:01:51the basketball side of things with Casey Alexander and how
- 1:01:54he's talked because he knows he knew how to assemble a team
- 1:02:00going up this level. And also some of the the the non
- 1:02:05K state podcast that he's on. I don't like how they talk to
- 1:02:10him. It's very like kind of little
- 1:02:12littling him where like, oh, it's oh, you're coming up from
- 1:02:15the FDR. Are you ready for this? Like, come on, brother, What
- 1:02:19kind of question is that? Like, I don't like that.
- 1:02:22That's just very dumb. But he, he is, he's saying some
- 1:02:28things that are very yin and Yang for me.
- 1:02:29Like he he's saying he doesn't know who the best player is.
- 1:02:32He doesn't know what kind of offense they're going to run.
- 1:02:34He kind of lets them kind of dictate it on the court.
- 1:02:38Not a lot of set plays. But he does know ball and how he
- 1:02:41assembled the roster is where I was going.
- 1:02:45Is very, very experienced head coach, like he is a head coach.
- 1:02:51He's been a head coach for a long time.
- 1:02:53He knew what he wanted to do. He knew the vision.
- 1:02:56Now the experiment has to work. And I think he's going to have
- 1:03:01some rough patches and that's OK.
- 1:03:06That is OK. But we, we, I need him to prove
- 1:03:12on the basketball side of things that he could take those punches
- 1:03:16and give them right back. Because I, that's the only part
- 1:03:19of it. And it's just the unknown
- 1:03:21really. For me, it's just the unknown
- 1:03:24because I have PTSD from roll the ball out there and let the
- 1:03:28boys play. Never call a time out, never do
- 1:03:31any of that stuff, never coach the team when we're actually
- 1:03:36team, we're playing the game. I mean, I'm sure Jerome Tang
- 1:03:42threw some hell of a great practices.
- 1:03:44Maybe he didn't. I don't know.
- 1:03:45Maybe they were, you know, they were supposed to be watching
- 1:03:49film at in his basement, but they didn't.
- 1:03:52I don't know. You know, those are a lot.
- 1:03:54There's a lot of stories about that.
- 1:03:55But I hope Casey I have PTSD about that and I don't think
- 1:03:58Casey Alexander's that way, but I want him to prove that he's
- 1:04:01not. So that's where I'm hanging up
- 1:04:03on that. But that's that's it.
- 1:04:05Yeah, I, I think the only thing that's really stood out to me is
- 1:04:08more of a, you know, red flag possibility that it could be a
- 1:04:12rolled ball situation is the set place thing, which you've
- 1:04:15mentioned. And he mentioned in a couple of
- 1:04:17different media availabilities he had early on.
- 1:04:21But I mean, even just hearing him talk about his philosophy
- 1:04:25of, Hey, when we're, when we're playing offense, we want to try
- 1:04:27to make sure that we have the best available shot and that
- 1:04:30we're taking the best shot that we have to us on the team.
- 1:04:33And that when we're on defense, we're trying to eliminate the
- 1:04:36best available shot for the other team.
- 1:04:38It seems very high level. But I feel like we, we never
- 1:04:41really got that from, from the last guy, even just, you know,
- 1:04:46maybe God gave him a Bible verse to read that had something to do
- 1:04:49with David and Goliath. And that was his defensive
- 1:04:52philosophy of the day. Or like, I just again, it just
- 1:04:56it feels nice to have a guy who clearly knows what he's talking
- 1:04:59about. He has also played basketball,
- 1:05:02college basketball at, at Belmont, like he's played the
- 1:05:05game at A at a high level or collegiate level.
- 1:05:08He's coached at a collegiate level for a number of years now,
- 1:05:12I think 15 years or something like that, at least as a head
- 1:05:14coach. So I I just am glad that we have
- 1:05:18a guy who knows what he's doing and how to do it and how to
- 1:05:22assemble a team in a roster that makes sense.
- 1:05:26Again, I think the only thing when we when we talked about the
- 1:05:28initial roster composition of the team that didn't maybe make
- 1:05:31sense is we don't necessarily have that lead guard, but he has
- 1:05:35a lot of belief in Jalen Alexander coming in from high
- 1:05:38school to be able to compete for a starting starting guard
- 1:05:42position for next year. So yeah, I, I love the size of
- 1:05:47the team. I love some of the stuff that
- 1:05:49he's saying. He just seems like a really down
- 1:05:51to earth, humble guy. And I love when a humble guy
- 1:05:55comes in and and is doing the job of head coach because that
- 1:05:57that says more to me about he's going to be the kind of guy
- 1:06:01who's going to be a servant leader and him really lead by
- 1:06:04example on the team as opposed to him having an ego.
- 1:06:08All the other guys in the room having an ego and having to
- 1:06:11check it or not check it. And then there's butting of
- 1:06:14heads and then there's locker room problems and then guys are
- 1:06:16sitting out half the season inexplicably.
- 1:06:19And and again, it just creates a toxic mess and and I don't see
- 1:06:23that happening with a guy like Casey Alexander.
- 1:06:25He seems like a humble guy, but a guy who can also discipline
- 1:06:29and and get on someone if they need to be, You know, someone
- 1:06:32needs to get on them for something if it, if that ever
- 1:06:36does come up. So because he he made a comment
- 1:06:38something along the lines of, and I think this was to Mason on
- 1:06:42KSO. But when you're going through
- 1:06:44the recruiting process with these guys, everybody's on their
- 1:06:46best behavior. But when you get them in the
- 1:06:48room and they're committed and they're enrolled, it's a little
- 1:06:51bit of a different story. Sometime you start to get to get
- 1:06:54a feel for their personalities and and the real them comes out
- 1:06:58in some cases. And so it's kind of a whole
- 1:07:00different getting to know you scenario when they actually get
- 1:07:04in the door and get in the facility.
- 1:07:06But he said things have been good there.
- 1:07:07So, you know, maybe, maybe that raises a little red flag of
- 1:07:11maybe someone came in and isn't what he thought they were.
- 1:07:14But I hope that was more of an an example from previous years
- 1:07:18or or maybe it's like a smaller case but.
- 1:07:22I think that's just for me, like you said, just years of coaching
- 1:07:25basketball. I mean, that's just that that's
- 1:07:28that's personality of just meeting anybody, whether you're
- 1:07:31at work or anything, like everybody interviews on their
- 1:07:34best behavior, wearing the suit and tie.
- 1:07:36But as soon as you got the job I'm going to, I'm going to Slack
- 1:07:38off a little bit. But I'm going to give him every
- 1:07:42grace that I possibly can. Absolutely.
- 1:07:45And, you know, I'm not calling for Casey for a while, so I'm
- 1:07:51going to let him build this up. High school recruiting, I want
- 1:07:54to see him do that. And I I that's one thing.
- 1:07:57Every year, he said from high school today, he said.
- 1:07:59That I did, but I, I didn't hear any of you know, buddy ask him
- 1:08:04his recruiting base. I've always, I've always
- 1:08:08wondered this because he is a, a Southern guy, a Tennessee guy.
- 1:08:11Tennessee's not that far from Kansas.
- 1:08:13I mean, it's a state over, but you know what is his because I
- 1:08:18looked through his his Belmont, his Belmont classes.
- 1:08:22I looked through Belmont's roster.
- 1:08:24I mean, international obviously check.
- 1:08:27It seems like a lot of Indiana, lot of that northern.
- 1:08:32Midwest. Yeah, Northern Midwest kind of
- 1:08:37base. I'm wondering where where he
- 1:08:40recruits and if he even not knows.
- 1:08:43That's a very that's dumb if he wants to recruit locally.
- 1:08:50Yeah. And I know I I might have
- 1:08:52brought this up on another podcast.
- 1:08:53I'm not sure, but that's still sticking with me because I
- 1:08:56haven't heard anybody ask him that.
- 1:08:58Like what is his philosophy and what, where's his footprint
- 1:09:02going to be at trying to recruit to Manhattan, KS, Because
- 1:09:05obviously recruiting to Nashville is a little bit
- 1:09:07different. I mean, you can still sell the
- 1:09:09southern, you still sell that you can, I mean, kind of sell to
- 1:09:12anybody, but getting people out the Kansas.
- 1:09:15And I don't want to play the woe as US card, but like recruiting
- 1:09:18at the Manhattan Manhattan, KS is a shock to a lot of people.
- 1:09:23So I wonder what his recruiting base is and what his philosophy
- 1:09:27is of telling kids how to get them out to Kansas.
- 1:09:30Yeah, I, you did mention that on the last part that we did of, of
- 1:09:34trying to understand what is his recruiting base.
- 1:09:36Is he more of a Chicago guy, Nashville guy?
- 1:09:38Is he going to try to recruit more locally in Kansas?
- 1:09:41So I, I, I think that will be seen, which is going to be, it's
- 1:09:46fascinating to see how that plays out.
- 1:09:49Awesome. I mean the last thing I have
- 1:09:50here. This is just for fun.
- 1:09:52I don't know. I don't know how long we'll be
- 1:09:56able to do this or what the format of this should look like.
- 1:09:58I think maybe we just try to perfect ball, no remote.
- 1:10:03Let's see, let's get this going. So for those who don't know,
- 1:10:07this thing's been floating around this like 80.
- 1:10:10We can the perfect NBA team and there are now there's an NHL 1,
- 1:10:16which is super fun. I'm very difficult.
- 1:10:18There's a football 1 for the NFL.
- 1:10:20There's a college football 1. I haven't seen a college
- 1:10:23basketball 1, but I'm sure there's one out there.
- 1:10:27And I haven't seen an MLB one. But going 162 and O is possible.
- 1:10:34But if you count the extra series, that's math I'm not
- 1:10:37going to do right now. All right, I'm gonna do it on
- 1:10:39ball knower mode. So class 4 gives you gives you
- 1:10:42ratings and stats. No, we don't want that.
- 1:10:45All knower mode I give you ratings and stats and then
- 1:10:48there's going to be a sicko mode which will include G5.
- 1:10:53Which would be nice. Which would be nice.
- 1:10:56But as of right now 6 is locked so I don't believe you can do
- 1:11:00that yet. Should we do it ranked or
- 1:11:03practice? Ranked you have to put your
- 1:11:05e-mail in there. You don't want to have to do
- 1:11:07that right now. Let's just get this practice
- 1:11:10going all. Right.
- 1:11:11Spin. So my first is what's your
- 1:11:14what's your theory on re spins? How when do you try to do it?
- 1:11:19Because I try to save at least one for the end if I can.
- 1:11:23It depends on I think it depends on first of all, I like to go if
- 1:11:29it depends on what the decade is, because I think the the
- 1:11:31decade is the most powerful one. Because if you start spinning,
- 1:11:36if you get something from the 60s or 70s, you're basically
- 1:11:40cooked at receiver and you have to, you have to go era.
- 1:11:43But I like Boston College in the 2000s.
- 1:11:48I know has to be Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan was a dog.
- 1:11:52BJ Raji also a dog. Tom O'Brien's out of there.
- 1:11:57I don't know who. Mathias Kiwanuka was good.
- 1:12:02He was a good NFL player. I don't know who Mark Hertzik
- 1:12:06Hertzschlik is. I don't know William Green.
- 1:12:10What's that Willie Green from? I don't know.
- 1:12:13That's 2. 1000 I don't know. Man, I could see Matt Ryan here.
- 1:12:19Matt Ryan probably was an all ACCI don't know if he was ever.
- 1:12:26Was he an All American? He might have been.
- 1:12:28He might have been a Heisman finalist as well.
- 1:12:31He might have been. I think we go Matt Ryan here
- 1:12:34though. But the the problem is yeah.
- 1:12:38I mean. You can you're gonna you're
- 1:12:43gonna get good. I think maybe we re spend team
- 1:12:47because we could get we could get Miami in the 2000s and we
- 1:12:54have a plethora of I think we go spit re spend team.
- 1:12:57OK, we're re spinning team. That's it.
- 1:13:06Fuck, yeah, we fucked. OK, maybe, maybe we go
- 1:13:10conference here. Just get these.
- 1:13:12Get these conference, get the spins out of here.
- 1:13:17Kansas Aubrey seen dog. Desmond Briscoe, That's a.
- 1:13:22Name. I mean, a keep to Lieb wasn't
- 1:13:25all American. I would probably go to Lieb
- 1:13:28here. I'd go a keep to Lieb as well.
- 1:13:31Did we pass up on Matt Ryan for a piece of lead?
- 1:13:35Oh, and now we're talking. OK, I so if we're talking 1980s
- 1:13:41or 70s and it's not like Oklahoma or Nebraska, I just.
- 1:13:47Yeah, we're cooked though, because if we would have had the
- 1:13:5080s defender here, we could have had Reggie White, who was an all
- 1:13:54time legend. I think we have to expend ERA.
- 1:13:57I know it's early, but I think we spent ERA.
- 1:14:01This is just our first 90. OK, OK.
- 1:14:03Oh. Phil Fuller, we've got some
- 1:14:08options here. I think we go Jason Witten, he
- 1:14:10was an all American. Jason Witten, that flex spinning
- 1:14:16north. I mean, Pat Fitzgerald, I mean,
- 1:14:20he turned around Northwestern. I mean, he's going to at least
- 1:14:24be an 80. That's the problem.
- 1:14:26He's going to at least be an 80. Justin Jackson.
- 1:14:29I don't know who that is. OK.
- 1:14:33I don't know you, Sam 2020 Fuck. You do have Davis Mills Mills
- 1:14:41here. I mean, EJ Smith is Emmett
- 1:14:44Smith's son, is he? He ain't no dog.
- 1:14:50There ain't no dogs on the screen.
- 1:14:53OK, We're going to have to restart this.
- 1:14:55You might have to cut this out. Davis Mills.
- 1:15:00Oh, we got Davis Mills at quarterback.
- 1:15:02This is bad. Hey.
- 1:15:04Mcdonaldson. CJ went to, went transferred to
- 1:15:07Ohio State to be a backup. That's.
- 1:15:10Cool, I could do that. All right, this is going to be
- 1:15:13the word. We're going to go.
- 1:15:14We're going to have a losing record.
- 1:15:16Going to be God. Can we run you?
- 1:15:21Run you. This is going to be the worst of
- 1:15:24all time. We now we got to take a head
- 1:15:25coach. Wide receiver Virginia 90s
- 1:15:29Herman Moore option at wide receiver 70.
- 1:15:35All right, we got our footing here.
- 1:15:36We got our footing. Herman Moore actually wasn't 84.
- 1:15:42All right, we're good. We should not, we should not
- 1:15:45have passed up on all. Right.
- 1:15:48All right, there's in the 80s. Fuck, I don't know anybody from
- 1:15:53Rutgers in the 80s. David Dorn.
- 1:15:56That name sounds familiar. Who?
- 1:15:59David Dorn? The wide receiver David Dorn?
- 1:16:02I don't know him. Here's my thing with the 70s and
- 1:16:0580s is because the offenses were like Trish thrown offenses
- 1:16:10defenses are like I feel like most of the defenses were way
- 1:16:14better. Like I feel like your odds are
- 1:16:16going to be better getting defenses in the 80s and 70s
- 1:16:19unless you it's like, OK, you're you're going after like whoever
- 1:16:25the quarterback in Oklahoma or Nebraska was running the
- 1:16:27wishbone in the 70s like. Big 10 in the 80s, I'm thinking
- 1:16:31if you I I know we did this last time, but Rutgers is.
- 1:16:34Bad the yeast at this point who they would have been Big East.
- 1:16:39This yeah, but it says Big 10 on there.
- 1:16:41I don't think they would. I don't think they're going to
- 1:16:43give us another Big East. I think they're going to give us
- 1:16:45a Big 10 team. So I think we I think we take re
- 1:16:48spin team. OK.
- 1:16:52OK, Joe Paw got to take. Todd Black.
- 1:16:56Got to take Joe, got to take Joe Paw all.
- 1:16:58Right, Joe Paw, The best team I've had yet was 14 and one, and
- 1:17:03Joe Paw was the head coach. Oh, Hershel, Give me Hershel.
- 1:17:06Hershel. Got to take Hershel at running
- 1:17:08back. OK, do you want him?
- 1:17:10You want him at running back. Yeah, because then it gives you
- 1:17:132 options at wide receiver and running back.
- 1:17:15OK, fuck. Clemson in the 70s.
- 1:17:20Steve Fuller I mean, this has to be an era, and we just hope for
- 1:17:26two 2000 tens up. Let's fucking go, OK?
- 1:17:32Cake Club Nick. You gotta take that.
- 1:17:34Oh, we can't take that. Well, fuck Peter Woods.
- 1:17:38Peter Woods is really good. Antonio Williams, bow collars.
- 1:17:43Philmouth. Miles Murphy.
- 1:17:48Maybe they weren't as good as I remember.
- 1:17:50Miles Murphy, that sounds. TJ Parker.
- 1:17:55Club Nick, Club Nick's all right.
- 1:17:56Yeah, I think, I think Peter Woods is the guy though, right?
- 1:18:02Peter Woods, Colorado 2010's Phillip is the only name.
- 1:18:11Yuck, yuck. You got to give me a give me
- 1:18:14conference. OK, OK, OK.
- 1:18:19Michael Floyd. Tyler Eifert's really good, but
- 1:18:22I don't want to take, I don't want to take Tyler Eifert.
- 1:18:25I think. I think we take Will Fuller here
- 1:18:30or Michael Floyd. Fuck.
- 1:18:32Michael Floyd was good too. Michael Floyd or Will?
- 1:18:35Yeah, I think Will Fuller. I think it's Will Fuller.
- 1:18:40I'm. Thinking Fuller.
- 1:18:41Yeah, give me somebody good. Hey, Ollie Gordon.
- 1:18:48Yeah, it has to be Ollie Gordon, right?
- 1:18:50Yeah, Oregon. Chad Johnson, Chad Ocho.
- 1:18:57Single Ocho. We could go Ocho.
- 1:19:00Yeah, I don't mind Ocho here. He's got to be the take.
- 1:19:03Come on, give me a good quarterback fuck.
- 1:19:07Devin Washington and Justin Thomas.
- 1:19:11Quan Marshall. I don't know them.
- 1:19:15Oh man, we could have had somebody good, dude.
- 1:19:20Fuck, This is why I like to keep one of the respins for the end,
- 1:19:24just in case. Just in.
- 1:19:26What was our first? Our first one was Rutgers in the
- 1:19:2980s. We would have had no shot the
- 1:19:33Quan Marshall. It is then because I don't know
- 1:19:35those other guys. I literally don't know them.
- 1:19:39A 68. A 68 with Herschel Walker on the
- 1:19:43team? Are you fucking kidding me?
- 1:19:45Chad Johnson was only a 78 in college.
- 1:19:49What? Oh, we stayed.
- 1:19:52We got a dope Walker winner too. Damn, we had the we had the Doke
- 1:19:58Walker Heisman. I mean, we were good until we
- 1:20:03got to Taquan, Marshall and fucking.
- 1:20:07Will Fuller, Justin. Thomas was the stronger QB.
- 1:20:11What was he, a 76? It has Michael Floyd as a higher
- 1:20:16rated wide receiver than Will. Yeah, damn.
- 1:20:19OK, We're learning. This is the final.
- 1:20:21This is the finale right here we got to get.
- 1:20:22All right. Last one, last one.
- 1:20:25All right, Come on, baby. We know Ball.
- 1:20:27We know Ball. Taylor, give me Robert.
- 1:20:31Give me Robert. OK.
- 1:20:35All right. Mark Burton.
- 1:20:38Georgia Tech in the 90s. I think they were actually
- 1:20:43pretty good. I know Keith Brooking played for
- 1:20:46the Falcons for a long time. I don't know any of those other
- 1:20:50fellas, though. I know Keith Brookings played in
- 1:20:53the NFL and I think I think defense gets a lot of credit.
- 1:20:57Like you were saying, I think Keith Brookings has to be the
- 1:21:00linebacker pick here. OK, all right, Defensive
- 1:21:03players, Keith Brooking, Georgia Tech in the 90s, Oklahoma,
- 1:21:07Twenty 20s. I mean, Lincoln or Eric Gray.
- 1:21:12Eric Gray broke the record for rushing versus KU or was that
- 1:21:19what's his nuts? Was that was that per?
- 1:21:24What's the guy Perrine? No, what's his last name?
- 1:21:30Samaji P Ryan. Samaji P Ryan.
- 1:21:32Yeah, that was Samaji. Damn, is this an heiress?
- 1:21:36Because I think you can't go wrong unless you want to take
- 1:21:39Lincoln. Lincoln hasn't won shit though.
- 1:21:42I don't want to take Lincoln. I think this is an heiress. 90s.
- 1:21:48It was the worst era in fucking Oklahoma.
- 1:21:52You got to be kidding. Oh, like, this is tough.
- 1:22:01I mean, you got a blue blood program in Oklahoma and you
- 1:22:04can't get me anybody. But I think they would have gave
- 1:22:08Lincoln Riley an 84 and I think we would have been solid.
- 1:22:12There. I guess you have to go.
- 1:22:15Blake. Did you go conference?
- 1:22:21Sure. OK, I hate passing up on the
- 1:22:24blue blood like Oklahoma, though.
- 1:22:28Hey. OK, Eddie.
- 1:22:30I mean, OK, hold on. What do we have here?
- 1:22:33Eddie George is a Heisman. Eddie George is a Heisman.
- 1:22:36Give me Eddie. Eddie is a Heisman.
- 1:22:39You. Gotta be crazy not stake Eddie
- 1:22:41George there over me. You got to give me a different
- 1:22:47team. You have to.
- 1:22:49I can't. I mean, Jaden OTT, he end up
- 1:22:52transferring to Oklahoma. He was OK.
- 1:22:55He had a decent season. I just don't remember him being
- 1:22:59better than they were going to give him like a 78.
- 1:23:04And that's the only person I have on there.
- 1:23:07Oh, OK, OK. OK.
- 1:23:09Rhett Lashley. Oh.
- 1:23:11Rashee Rice. Rashee Rice.
- 1:23:14Rashee Rice was a dog in college.
- 1:23:16He had like 1700 receiving yards.
- 1:23:20You want to take Rashi. I like Rashi.
- 1:23:22Give me Rashi. Rashi wide receiver, give us
- 1:23:26something good fucking. God damn it, dude.
- 1:23:30Know who any? Of I don't know any of these
- 1:23:33fuck nuts. Thomas Lewis and we have no
- 1:23:35respins. I know we suck.
- 1:23:40All right, give me. Kurt Zignetti.
- 1:23:43Yeah, give me a. Bill Mallory.
- 1:23:47Give me, I guess the coach would hurt the least.
- 1:23:51I think it can, yeah. I know they didn't win a single
- 1:23:56game. God damn it, this.
- 1:23:58Again. Tracy Perry, I'm not taking a
- 1:24:03tight end and I'm not taking a wide receiver from the. 70s back
- 1:24:06in the IT has to be all right. He's at Flex Wisconsin Twenty
- 1:24:1210's and we don't get any of the good players like John Taylor,
- 1:24:17Russell Wilson or Monty Ball, Jared Abraderis.
- 1:24:22Hey, that's the white boy. He cooked Ohio State.
- 1:24:30We we have two Heisman winners. That was this team.
- 1:24:34Only three wins. We can't go out like this.
- 1:24:37What are we talking about here? We.
- 1:24:39Have two Heisman winners. Oh my God.
- 1:24:44Damn they did Rashi Rice bad. Yeah, why?
- 1:24:48Is he sorry? I'm going to get rid of this
- 1:24:50thing. Rashi Rice was 74.
- 1:24:53Jared Abradare is 72. Wow, they actually had Jerry
- 1:24:58Butler as an 85 and and that was a 70s receiver.
- 1:25:02I don't know him. No all.
- 1:25:06Right, dude, I can't. I can't go out like that.
- 1:25:08No, no or ball logs. They're going to clown us for
- 1:25:13this. OK all.
- 1:25:14Right. Notre Dame in the 90s, We're.
- 1:25:16Working with Lou Holtz. Lou Holtz has 2/2, had two
- 1:25:19Maddie's. Oh fuck yeah.
- 1:25:22But Lou Holtz got Natty's though.
- 1:25:24Lou Holtz got Natty's. OK, Lou Holtz, Lou Holtz.
- 1:25:28All right, Lou Holtz, we're. Strong.
- 1:25:31We're strong. Oh my God, we're strong.
- 1:25:34Braylon Edwards, Lamar Woodley, Chad Henney.
- 1:25:39I think. I think, I think you go Lamar
- 1:25:41Woodley here, I think that's like a solid 85.
- 1:25:44I think he's one of the best defenders ever at Michigan.
- 1:25:47All right. Lamar Woodley on defense.
- 1:25:50Fuck. Fuck in Kansas in the 70s.
- 1:25:53Give me a oh I hate to do era. I think we've got to re spin
- 1:25:57this. I know, but if what?
- 1:26:00Back to the 60s, which it doesn't.
- 1:26:02Then we would at least have a shot of GAIL Savers.
- 1:26:05But I mean if we do ERA it's Kansas and every decade until
- 1:26:10the twenty 20s has been bad. Also 2. 1007 still.
- 1:26:14Exists. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:26:16Because we we had to keep to leave, but we already drafted on
- 1:26:19defense so. Maybe we go team and then hope
- 1:26:24for Oklahoma. Or yes, Oklahoma.
- 1:26:29Silly Sims, Billy Sims. Joe Washington was good, too.
- 1:26:33All right, Billy Sims, so Ole Miss in the 90s.
- 1:26:38Deuce McAllister is a dog. That's the only one I know on
- 1:26:42there. He's.
- 1:26:44Literally. Tommy Tuberville was the coach
- 1:26:47at Ole Miss in the 90s. Are you kidding me?
- 1:26:50No way. I didn't know that.
- 1:26:53I did not know that at all. Deuce McAllister.
- 1:26:56Deuce McAllister at Flex. Right.
- 1:26:59Sold Purdue in the 70s. We can't do that.
- 1:27:03We we asked Larry. Burton, We.
- 1:27:06Can't do that. Yeah, we can't do that.
- 1:27:07You got to give me, give me a conference.
- 1:27:09Conference B&M in the 70s Bubba Bean.
- 1:27:14Bubba Bean. He's our only choice and I think
- 1:27:17because I've played this game enough, Bubba Bean is a solid
- 1:27:20enough choice. OK, I like it.
- 1:27:22We're going with the beans. It's.
- 1:27:26Another wishbone, rather. This is a bad decade for
- 1:27:30Arkansas, too. Ryan, Matt.
- 1:27:31I mean, what is a good decade for Arkansas?
- 1:27:36Well, and they had Darren McFadden in the 2000s.
- 1:27:39But we don't need a running back, We need a wide receiver
- 1:27:41and a quarterback. So we're trying to.
- 1:27:43Screw. That Ryan Mallett probably has
- 1:27:45to be the choice here. Ryan.
- 1:27:50Mallett brings us down so bad. Here's here's my only question.
- 1:27:55Do we hope? Do we re spin and get a wide
- 1:27:58receiver and hope for the best? Arkansas wide receiver.
- 1:28:03I don't know any Arkansas. Wide.
- 1:28:04No, that's no, you're right. You're right.
- 1:28:06All right. I'm now Ryan Mallon.
- 1:28:09Ryan Mallon. Hey, OK, Raylen Pole.
- 1:28:14Good. Roma Dunsay.
- 1:28:17Oh, I like your pick. I like Rome.
- 1:28:20I was going to go Rome. Jalen Mcmillan's good too,
- 1:28:24though. No, Ted ain't no Tedaroa.
- 1:28:28Ain't no team man right? 11 AM with that.
- 1:28:33Let's go. We'll end on that bubble bean
- 1:28:35you said at 82. Yeah, I.
- 1:28:37Told you. OK, Deuce McAllister, Deuce
- 1:28:42McAllister our low man and Ryan freaking Mallet.
- 1:28:44If we would have had RG3 in this one, we would have cooked if we
- 1:28:49would have cooked. I like it though.
- 1:28:53Damn this is a fun game. This is a fun exercise.
