- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six FORTYFI.
- 0:11Speaker 2: AM six forty Bill Handle here on a Monday morning,
- 0:16Speaker 2: October twentieth. Hey, and we had a great time last
- 0:20Speaker 2: Friday with Ask Handle Anything, some great questions, and we
- 0:24Speaker 2: do that at a thirty every Friday, and I get
- 0:26Speaker 2: all kinds of personal questions because people ask me all
- 0:29Speaker 2: kinds of personal questions about other hosts and about me.
- 0:32Speaker 2: So we started Ask Handle Anything where I answer these
- 0:35Speaker 2: humiliating to me questions every Friday. But we need you
- 0:39Speaker 2: to ask the questions. So here's how it's done. During
- 0:42Speaker 2: the course of the show during the week from five
- 0:44Speaker 2: to nine am, click on the Bill Handle Show and
- 0:47Speaker 2: then click on to Well first iHeartRadio app, then the
- 0:51Speaker 2: bill Handle Show.
- 0:52Speaker 3: That a microphone in the upper right hand corner. You
- 0:54Speaker 3: click on that and.
- 0:55Speaker 2: You've got fifteen seconds, give or take to ask a question.
- 0:59Speaker 2: And the I don't care about your opinion about anything
- 1:02Speaker 2: that doesn't matter to me. But the questions that humiliate
- 1:05Speaker 2: me are a lot of fun. Boy, am I self
- 1:07Speaker 2: loathing individual? Don't I? I am soliciting calls and questions
- 1:13Speaker 2: that embarrass me. I'll tell you about you. Yeah, you know,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I'm going to bring that up with my shrink this
- 1:19Speaker 2: week for sure. Okay, why don't we move on? Fair enough?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Interesting story about this live fire exercise that happened at
- 1:28Speaker 2: Camp Pendleton over the weekend celebrating two hundred and fifty
- 1:32Speaker 2: years of the US Marine Corps, and that included a
- 1:36Speaker 2: live simulation of a beach assault by sea and air.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I don't know if you've ever seen one of those
- 1:41Speaker 2: driving down the Five on Pendleton. I've seen them twice,
- 1:45Speaker 2: where the assault vehicles, the helicopters, the amphibious, the zodiacs
- 1:49Speaker 2: come aboard the ships.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I mean, it's wonderful to see.
- 1:53Speaker 2: This is when you realize this is America killing people
- 1:57Speaker 2: at his best. Just it's fantastic, and we have to
- 2:01Speaker 2: have a defence. So there's no issue there. So here's
- 2:04Speaker 2: what happened. The plan involved Marines firing high explosive rounds
- 2:09Speaker 2: over the freeway. Now, federal officials said it's going to
- 2:13Speaker 2: be done with all safety precautions in place, and no
- 2:16Speaker 2: public highways would be closed. California official says, live rounds
- 2:21Speaker 2: over Interstate five, we don't think so. So on Friday night,
- 2:26Speaker 2: the Marines did a test run without notifying the state
- 2:30Speaker 2: and fire artillery rounds over I five. So early Saturday morning,
- 2:35Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom announces the closure of Interstate five, a seventeen
- 2:39Speaker 2: mile stretch north of San Clemente, south of San Clementy,
- 2:43Speaker 2: north of otion Side. About fifteen thousand people attended the event,
- 2:47Speaker 2: including a speech by the Vice President. And so, now
- 2:52Speaker 2: was there damage done? You bet the fear that one
- 2:56Speaker 2: of these shelves would hit a car or people there, Well,
- 3:00Speaker 2: it panned out. A cruiser park on an on ramp
- 3:04Speaker 2: on five was hit by falling shrapnel after an artillery
- 3:08Speaker 2: shell exploded early right over the freeway. And first of all,
- 3:13Speaker 2: and I'll tell you about that, because it was a
- 3:15Speaker 2: scratch on the car, And so a very big deal
- 3:19Speaker 2: was made about that. A report was circulated that the
- 3:22Speaker 2: White House intended to shut down five because they planned
- 3:26Speaker 2: to shoot missiles from Navy warships onto Camp Pendleton. Camp
- 3:31Speaker 2: Pendleton is enormous and along the beach where they do
- 3:35Speaker 2: these amphibious landings. Literally the five is a few hundred
- 3:39Speaker 2: yards from that beach and great fun. So Wednesday night,
- 3:44Speaker 2: the Marine Corps posts a statement on X it's going
- 3:47Speaker 2: to hold a live fire demonstration on Saturday, and there
- 3:50Speaker 2: will be no closures, no public highways or transportation routes.
- 3:55Speaker 3: All training events will occur on approved.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Training ranges read the five Freeway and with established safety protocols. Now,
- 4:03Speaker 2: the Marine Corps said, we're not going to fire anything
- 4:05Speaker 2: from Navy ship to shore. It's only the firing of
- 4:09Speaker 2: high explosive rounds from howitzers artillery shells into designated ranges.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Fair enough, Okay, Now howitzer has a range of fifteen
- 4:20Speaker 2: to twenty five miles. This is what the Ukraine is using,
- 4:23Speaker 2: or Ukraine is using for the most part to fight Russia.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Our arms.
- 4:29Speaker 2: So that afternoon, the federal government directed the cancellation of
- 4:33Speaker 2: Amtrak and Metrolink service.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Oooh, does that tell you something? I sure told news
- 4:39Speaker 3: some something.
- 4:41Speaker 2: So officials observed State officials that shells were launched over
- 4:48Speaker 2: Interstate five from the beach. So howitzers are set up
- 4:53Speaker 2: off of ships and then they're landed, they go over
- 4:55Speaker 2: the five into the range and then there's a huge
- 4:57Speaker 2: acreage there. The state also received a request from event
- 5:02Speaker 2: organizers and said that electronic bulletin boards along Interstate five
- 5:08Speaker 2: people should be worn and they were live weapons.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Over over the what is it.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Live weapons over freeway was the exact Wordage Border patrols
- 5:21Speaker 2: at California Highway Patrol said, we didn't know about this.
- 5:24Speaker 2: So Newsom's office and Coltrans they closed the five Freeway.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Now the closure was very brief, but at jam freeways,
- 5:34Speaker 2: stretching travel time between LA to San Diego an hour longer.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Instead of two hours, it was three hours.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And the White House criticized Newsom for closing the five Freeway.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And I want to make a point whenever the federal
- 5:46Speaker 2: government does anything in terms of holding up traffic, it
- 5:51Speaker 2: is a disaster.
- 5:53Speaker 3: It is a shanda.
- 5:54Speaker 2: There is very little worse in terms of traffic than
- 5:57Speaker 2: the vice president the president per twoicularly, president flies in
- 6:02Speaker 2: to usually if the Air Force won the Imperial Terminal,
- 6:05Speaker 2: the Southwest, the most southern part of Lax Air Force
- 6:10Speaker 2: one comes in there.
- 6:12Speaker 3: The entire west side is shut down.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I don't know if you've ever been around when the
- 6:17Speaker 2: president or any major event happens. This is when we
- 6:21Speaker 2: should secede as a government California, and we should not
- 6:27Speaker 2: let the Feds come in. But anyway, so it turned
- 6:29Speaker 2: out to be a real mix up between the state
- 6:32Speaker 2: and the Feds, fifteen thousand people, a lot of raw,
- 6:35Speaker 2: raw military exercises.
- 6:37Speaker 3: And a shell exploding over the five Freeway which caused
- 6:42Speaker 3: virtually no damage.
- 6:45Speaker 2: A big story was the protest, the no Kings protest,
- 6:49Speaker 2: which true, I don't know, maybe seven million people, right
- 6:53Speaker 2: is the number that's being thrown at us. Don't know
- 6:56Speaker 2: the figure yet, hasn't really been confirmed one way or
- 6:59Speaker 2: the other. But I was there and if you go
- 7:04Speaker 2: to our Instagram page at Bill Handle Show, you will
- 7:09Speaker 2: see me there on the corner with Lindsay and a
- 7:11Speaker 2: huge sigh, well big protest sign, and my sign was
- 7:16Speaker 2: freedom of the press. Everybody else was sort of no
- 7:18Speaker 2: Kings and very clever stuff that was done.
- 7:22Speaker 3: And it was a party atmosphere.
- 7:23Speaker 2: People were worrying costumes, there was It was just a
- 7:28Speaker 2: fun atmosphere, even though it was a very political statement,
- 7:32Speaker 2: it was just kind of neat And so of course
- 7:35Speaker 2: I was immediately attacked by people on Instagram, and I
- 7:39Speaker 2: was also given kudos for being there at the protests.
- 7:44Speaker 2: So why was I there having never ever been to
- 7:47Speaker 2: a protest and I probably would never would. Well, my
- 7:51Speaker 2: issue was freedom of the press, my personal issue, because
- 7:57Speaker 2: you know, I'm part of the press. We theoretically are
- 8:00Speaker 2: part of the press, but we're involved in the news
- 8:01Speaker 2: business here, and I kind of like the ability to
- 8:04Speaker 2: say whatever the hell I want to say. And to
- 8:07Speaker 2: the credit of management, I Heeart and the people before
- 8:10Speaker 2: that owned the station group that was Cox. Never once
- 8:16Speaker 2: in the history of the broad my broadcasting in radio,
- 8:20Speaker 2: have I ever been told what to say and what
- 8:23Speaker 2: not to say. However, I have a lot of issue
- 8:30Speaker 2: with President Trump, as you know. I give him credit
- 8:32Speaker 2: where credit is due, and he deserves credit in many ways,
- 8:35Speaker 2: but I'm not particularly thrilled with the way he's running
- 8:38Speaker 2: the presidency, the retribution against his perceived and real enemies,
- 8:43Speaker 2: but using the Department of Justice, using the FBI to
- 8:48Speaker 2: attack his quote enemies cities in which are Democrat cities
- 8:54Speaker 2: in which she views the mayor of those cities as enemies.
- 8:59Speaker 3: The army goes in and the National Guard goes in.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I want you to note that there is not one
- 9:05Speaker 2: Republican led city in the United States that has a
- 9:07Speaker 2: problem with crime, not one. It's the democratic led city.
- 9:12Speaker 2: So it's I mean, it's political. I mean it's crazy stuff. Now,
- 9:18Speaker 2: is that dangerous stuff?
- 9:20Speaker 3: Yeah? It is.
- 9:21Speaker 2: But for me, the freedom of the press is the
- 9:24Speaker 2: toughest one to just stomach. I have a real hard
- 9:31Speaker 2: time when you have a White House that goes to networks,
- 9:35Speaker 2: radio and TV stations and say, if you don't toe
- 9:39Speaker 2: the line, if you don't agree not to attack us,
- 9:43Speaker 2: or if you say a B or C, I'm gonna
- 9:46Speaker 2: shut you down. And the FEDS have the ability because
- 9:51Speaker 2: the Feds, the government controls the airwaves through the FCC.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Can the White House just shut down a network like
- 10:03Speaker 2: Brendan Carr, the head of the SEC, has threatened. Yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 2: it's amazing the power the federal government has. And it's
- 10:13Speaker 2: amazing the power this president has. And he's stretching the
- 10:16Speaker 2: envelope I've said, and it's amazing the latitude that Congress
- 10:21Speaker 2: is giving him. As Johnson said, Mike Johnson, our job
- 10:26Speaker 2: here in Congress is to further.
- 10:28Speaker 3: The agenda of the president. That's it, Bill.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Yeah, they can't shut down a cable station. No, they
- 10:35Speaker 4: can't shut down cable They.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Shut down a network.
- 10:38Speaker 4: They could only shut down the local entities that.
- 10:41Speaker 3: They can show.
- 10:42Speaker 2: But they can shut down a network by shutting down
- 10:46Speaker 2: the airwaves from that network.
- 10:48Speaker 3: So everybody would have to switch to cable.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The entire industry would have to switch to cable, and
- 10:54Speaker 2: the airwaves would just be done. For example, let's say
- 10:57Speaker 2: that iHeart has eight hundred radio stations and someone there
- 11:03Speaker 2: because of high profile. I mean, you know, I'm way
- 11:05Speaker 2: under the radar. But if I were a national figure,
- 11:08Speaker 2: I think I'd be looking iHeart would be looking at
- 11:11Speaker 2: some issues. Look what happened to ABC. Look what happened
- 11:15Speaker 2: to Jimmy Kimmel.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Look what happened.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Look what happened Well after a few days, but that
- 11:20Speaker 2: was the threat, see.
- 11:21Speaker 3: The problem after a few days.
- 11:22Speaker 2: But here's what Brendan Carr said, the head of the
- 11:25Speaker 2: SCC says, this is just the.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Start we are going to now. Can you imagine?
- 11:31Speaker 4: That's why I stood with Jimmy Kimmel. But I understand
- 11:34Speaker 4: went off the air had lost all of our signals.
- 11:37Speaker 4: You could still listen to us in iHeart Radio on
- 11:39Speaker 4: the app anywhere in the United States.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Okay, so let's say this.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Now, you have Congress passing a law that says we
- 11:50Speaker 2: will control cable.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Can that be done?
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yes, Congress would vote that in because the.
- 11:57Speaker 3: President called for hypotheticals. Yeah, well that's how MU hypothetic.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Look at the power of the president has Look what
- 12:02Speaker 2: happened in Texas where they redistricted, where they changed the
- 12:07Speaker 2: districting and added five basically added five Republican seats.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You know who said that.
- 12:14Speaker 2: The President told the legislature, this is what I want.
- 12:18Speaker 3: You to do.
- 12:18Speaker 4: And now we're having an extremely expensive ballot for November
- 12:26Speaker 4: coming up that going against the Constitution of the California
- 12:33Speaker 4: to overturn what people have already voted afore.
- 12:38Speaker 2: So right, but we do that all the time. We
- 12:40Speaker 2: do that all the time. You know, the Constitution California
- 12:42Speaker 2: is five hundred pages.
- 12:44Speaker 3: We tights do it. They're both discussing, and they both
- 12:47Speaker 3: their side to win at all costs. I am not
- 12:49Speaker 3: arguing that.
- 12:50Speaker 2: All I'm saying is the President called for Texas to
- 12:55Speaker 2: do this. Texas would not have done this without the
- 12:59Speaker 2: President saying do this.
- 13:01Speaker 3: The President can tell me that because it was because it.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Was done on I was done on the urging actually
- 13:11Speaker 2: the demand of the president.
- 13:13Speaker 4: So maybe it was, But how can you say that
- 13:14Speaker 4: it wouldn't have been done without I don't think it.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Would have been done first time. I don't think it
- 13:18Speaker 3: would have did it for the day I don't think it.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I don't think it would have been done. But that's
- 13:22Speaker 2: not the point here. You and I can argue this
- 13:24Speaker 2: all day long. The point is can the president shut
- 13:27Speaker 2: down networks?
- 13:28Speaker 3: Yes? I did?
- 13:31Speaker 2: Well, what is the deal in terms of freedom of
- 13:33Speaker 2: the press? How about the lawsuits?
- 13:35Speaker 3: I have a real problem with the President suing CBS
- 13:40Speaker 3: because during a sixty minute speech they made Kamala Harris
- 13:44Speaker 3: look good and.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Somehow that attacks America. CBS caved, caved and gave him
- 13:54Speaker 2: sixteen million dollars, where every constitutional expert said, are you
- 13:58Speaker 2: crazy a lawsuit based on that? How about against Paramount?
- 14:03Speaker 2: How about against ABC? It's a real problem. How about
- 14:08Speaker 2: Pete Hegseth telling the Pentagon Press Corps, you print what
- 14:12Speaker 2: I tell you to print, or I'm yanking your conventionals
- 14:16Speaker 2: from the Pentagon. By the way, all the majors walked out,
- 14:20Speaker 2: even not only Fox but Newsmax told them to go
- 14:25Speaker 2: pound sand turned in their credentials and walked out. There
- 14:28Speaker 2: is a genuine attack on the media, There's no question
- 14:31Speaker 2: about it.
- 14:32Speaker 3: And that part is scary for me.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I have a tough time with I mean, there's a
- 14:36Speaker 2: lot of stuff that's scary anyway, you know how I feel,
- 14:40Speaker 2: and I've made it very clear I have a problem
- 14:42Speaker 2: with the way, for example, the illegal undocumented people who
- 14:47Speaker 2: are picked up. Christinoum just said again press conference this morning,
- 14:51Speaker 2: we're only going after the worst of the worst, the
- 14:55Speaker 2: worst that work at car washes, the worst that work
- 14:59Speaker 2: in the feet, those are the worst of the worst.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And they keep on doing that. There's video of hundreds
- 15:04Speaker 2: of people being picked up. They're the worst of the worst.
- 15:08Speaker 2: I mean, come on, guys, really, So in my case,
- 15:13Speaker 2: I was up there, and I want to make a
- 15:15Speaker 2: point about the political fallout on this one. These demonstrations
- 15:20Speaker 2: were very fun. I mean they had a point, there's
- 15:24Speaker 2: no question. But there was a lot of frivolity there.
- 15:27Speaker 2: There was a lot of just chanting, and the signs
- 15:30Speaker 2: were hilarious, and there were costumes and I looked around
- 15:34Speaker 2: and there's a picture of me next to some people
- 15:36Speaker 2: in shark outfits.
- 15:37Speaker 3: They just fun stuff.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And here's where I think the Republicans, even the President,
- 15:42Speaker 2: blew it. And that is to say this is not
- 15:45Speaker 2: representative America.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Of course it is.
- 15:48Speaker 2: You know, just like people who tell me President Trump
- 15:51Speaker 2: is not my president, Yes he is.
- 15:54Speaker 3: What are you talking about.
- 15:55Speaker 2: You may not like it, you may disagree, but of
- 15:58Speaker 2: course he's your president. The man not only when the
- 16:00Speaker 2: electoral college, which I have issues with, but.
- 16:03Speaker 3: He won the popular vote. How could he not be
- 16:06Speaker 3: your president.
- 16:09Speaker 2: The point is that either side they hate each other
- 16:11Speaker 2: so much. The President said there were very few people
- 16:16Speaker 2: there to see the pictures and they're not representative America.
- 16:20Speaker 3: And these were all placards, and you've got.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Mike Johnson saying this was hate America and the word
- 16:27Speaker 2: trader was being thrown about. I mean, you know, we're
- 16:31Speaker 2: not Can we not demonstrate if we are against the
- 16:34Speaker 2: administration without the administration saying you are a bunch of traders?
- 16:40Speaker 2: Have we reached that point? Yes we have. We've reached
- 16:44Speaker 2: that point. And it's very scary stuff. And I was
- 16:48Speaker 2: there for a couple of hours in Dana Point and
- 16:52Speaker 2: there were I think six people that were pro Trump
- 16:57Speaker 2: that we're going down.
- 16:59Speaker 3: We're all on three corners and were driving up and down.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And so one guy with his pickup truck had the
- 17:05Speaker 2: big truck Trump twenty twenty flag in an American flag,
- 17:09Speaker 2: and then there was one guy with a Confederate flag
- 17:12Speaker 2: and as he was.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Going no one bowed him. No one bowed.
- 17:17Speaker 2: They were all waving and saying we love you too.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I mean it was terrific, It really was. Some people
- 17:25Speaker 2: were driving by and they were putting thumbs down, and
- 17:28Speaker 2: then you had hundreds of people going thumbs up. Have
- 17:31Speaker 2: a good day. It was not only was it peaceful,
- 17:36Speaker 2: it was fun. And this is, as Neil pointed out,
- 17:40Speaker 2: this is America at its greatest, genuine protests. There were
- 17:45Speaker 2: police there, not an insane amount of police there, but
- 17:47Speaker 2: there were police, and people were honking the horns as
- 17:52Speaker 2: everybody passed on the three corners, hanking horns and putting
- 17:55Speaker 2: their thumbs in the air and waving. And in the
- 17:58Speaker 2: middle of it, there was in some kind of emergency
- 18:01Speaker 2: were a fire truck and an ambulance had there were blaring,
- 18:06Speaker 2: uh the the sirens and their horns, and everybody thought
- 18:10Speaker 2: they were screaming in favor of the protests. We even
- 18:15Speaker 2: have the fire department uh is honking their horns.
- 18:19Speaker 3: And their sirens. Yeay yay.
- 18:21Speaker 2: And I had to point out to a couple of people,
- 18:23Speaker 2: you know, it's probably an emergency. I don't think they're
- 18:26Speaker 2: making a political statement, just saying I.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Will tell you the Internet and protests show you that
- 18:33Speaker 4: some of the best writers on the planet are just
- 18:36Speaker 4: average people.
- 18:38Speaker 3: The oh.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw someone in a woman in an Indiana
- 18:45Speaker 4: Jones costume that said I hate Nazis on her sign.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yeah, some signs said no on the turd Reich. Uh.
- 18:55Speaker 2: There were just fun fun stuff that's had to do
- 19:00Speaker 2: is put a picture up there. So anyway, the protests
- 19:02Speaker 2: were there, and what makes them again, what makes America
- 19:05Speaker 2: great is I.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Was attacked, vilified.
- 19:09Speaker 2: By KFI listeners and at the same time, good for you, Bill,
- 19:13Speaker 2: good for you, and it was it was kind of neat,
- 19:16Speaker 2: except those people that were attacking me.
- 19:19Speaker 3: You're fired.
- 19:20Speaker 2: You cannot listen to this radio station anymore. The San
- 19:23Speaker 2: Frano Valley, I've lived in the valley most of my life.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Bourbank Studios we're in the San Frano Valley. San Frano
- 19:29Speaker 2: Valley is a storied area, just so many films, because
- 19:33Speaker 2: so many studios are here, movie after movie and TV
- 19:37Speaker 2: show after TV show.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I mean, you know about Valley Girls.
- 19:41Speaker 2: There is not a film out there named Peoria Girls.
- 19:45Speaker 2: It just doesn't exist. And so the valley is sort
- 19:50Speaker 2: of this city within a city. I mean, it has
- 19:53Speaker 2: a couple of million people in it, so it's still
- 19:55Speaker 2: a major city, and it just has this reputation of
- 20:00Speaker 2: being sort of less than it's the outskirts. It has
- 20:04Speaker 2: a horrible reputation, Oh, you live in the valley.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Yeah, we live in.
- 20:09Speaker 2: The valley and it's tubular. Man, It's just a place
- 20:14Speaker 2: on its own. Derided for years because post World War Two,
- 20:20Speaker 2: the valley was the poster child of servicemen coming in
- 20:25Speaker 2: because as they were shipped overseas, they came to Los
- 20:28Speaker 2: Angeles the valley you could buy property for next to nothing,
- 20:34Speaker 2: and it just became You had the many mini malls,
- 20:37Speaker 2: you had the sprawling area with the large parking lots,
- 20:40Speaker 2: and it became its own country.
- 20:43Speaker 3: If you will.
- 20:44Speaker 2: My parents bought their first house in the valley. It
- 20:49Speaker 2: was in North Hollywood and this was the late fifties,
- 20:52Speaker 2: and I'll never forget they paid nineteen five hundred dollars
- 20:55Speaker 2: for the house, which at that time, I mean, it
- 20:59Speaker 2: was still, you know, for a house, but it was
- 21:01Speaker 2: so far cheaper than any place else and so I
- 21:04Speaker 2: don't understand it. Well, you have Van Eys Boulevard right
- 21:07Speaker 2: going down the middle of the valley where people used
- 21:11Speaker 2: to cruise. Uh, and that became movie after movie that
- 21:14Speaker 2: became the cruising scene of southern California where people were, Okay,
- 21:20Speaker 2: I'll never forget that. I used to cruise down there,
- 21:22Speaker 2: and it was it was the guys in the guys
- 21:26Speaker 2: in the convertibles, and I would go down there and
- 21:30Speaker 2: do what guys did, I go, baby, baby, bit baby,
- 21:34Speaker 2: let's get together their baby baby. And it didn't work.
- 21:37Speaker 2: None of that worked. It was not impressive that that
- 21:41Speaker 2: sounds pretty good to me. Yeah, no, it was great,
- 21:44Speaker 2: but it was just the valley such today it's nothing
- 21:47Speaker 2: like it was.
- 21:48Speaker 3: But and it.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Became for some reason this horrible reputations that the pace
- 21:52Speaker 2: you don't want to go to less than people on
- 21:55Speaker 2: the West Side.
- 21:56Speaker 3: They don't go to the valley. It's another country for them.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Even though it's an eight mile ride up over the
- 22:03Speaker 2: hill or five miles.
- 22:04Speaker 3: It's another country.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Uh.
- 22:06Speaker 3: It's literally like going to a third world country.
- 22:10Speaker 4: But wasn't it like the epitome of suburban life. Yeah,
- 22:15Speaker 4: it was like all the malls, all of it.
- 22:18Speaker 3: It was the cram all of it, all of it.
- 22:21Speaker 2: It should it should be not only recognized for what
- 22:24Speaker 2: it did, but should be celebrated valley girls.
- 22:29Speaker 3: It's it's good. It's a good thing. I grew up there.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Of course, I got out of there as quickly as
- 22:34Speaker 2: I could.
- 22:34Speaker 3: But I love the valley. Okay, that's it. I just
- 22:39Speaker 3: wanted to share that story. I wanted to share.
- 22:41Speaker 4: You just wanted to dark you on. Hey, the valley
- 22:43Speaker 4: has some gorgeous areas too, it does, it does.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I mean I lived in the valley. The Persian Palace
- 22:49Speaker 2: was in the valley. I went to a great high school,
- 22:53Speaker 2: Birmingham High, which has changed a little bit. I went
- 22:57Speaker 2: to visit Birmingham High and Van Eysh a few years
- 23:00Speaker 2: later and I went with one of the school teachers
- 23:03Speaker 2: been there forever, and we're walking down the hall. And
- 23:05Speaker 2: now keep in mind, for example, our stadium which at
- 23:09Speaker 2: one point was the best stadium in the country for
- 23:13Speaker 2: a high school stadium, with the lights and all that.
- 23:15Speaker 2: And we started and they started raising money. Dick Van
- 23:18Speaker 2: Dyke wrote the first check because his daughter was there.
- 23:22Speaker 2: The people that graduated Birmingham High are incredible, and it
- 23:28Speaker 2: went a little bit downhill. So I went there a
- 23:30Speaker 2: few years ago and met with one of the teachers there.
- 23:33Speaker 3: We're walking down.
- 23:34Speaker 2: The Hall, and all of a sudden, on a door
- 23:36Speaker 2: down the administration building, I see a seal for the
- 23:41Speaker 2: LAPD on a door, and I said, what is this.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Why would there be a seal on that door Because
- 23:49Speaker 2: this is a substation for the LAPD. There are two
- 23:52Speaker 2: cops assigned permanently to this high school.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Oops.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Thinks things have changed. Okay, KF I am six forty.
