Charleston’s 1908 Ahrens steam engine, a living piece of firefighting history, is getting a full restoration—sandblasted, repainted, and lovingly revived by Station Eight crews who connect with the men who once steered it through flames. Once horse-drawn, then a Capitol fire hero, and later displayed at the Coliseum, this relic is now rolling out for the Sternwheel Regatta Fire Parade on Sunday, July 5th at 3 PM.
