Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, NASA cho Beat. Welcome to another
- 0:12Speaker 2: edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 1: The Seahawks get it done again in I mean bump
- 0:17Speaker 1: bills to beat down, beat down once again, beat the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Falcons thirty seven to nine. Bump And I'm just gonna
- 0:22Speaker 1: rip off some stats right off top, because these Seahawks
- 0:24Speaker 1: are really rolling right now. Sixteen and five in the
- 0:26Speaker 1: last twenty one games, tied for first in the NFL.
- 0:29Speaker 1: They're twenty three and five in their last twenty eight
- 0:31Speaker 1: ten am kickoffs. The Hawks are thirteen and two under
- 0:34Speaker 1: coach McDonald on the road. He is tied with Mike martz,
- 0:37Speaker 1: Sehn McVay, and Nick Sirianni for the second most road
- 0:40Speaker 1: wins by a head coach in their first two seasons
- 0:42Speaker 1: in NFL history, only trailing George Seaffert was sixteen, who
- 0:45Speaker 1: has more. The Hawks have now gone twenty two consecutive
- 0:48Speaker 1: games without allowing one hundred yard rusher. It got a
- 0:51Speaker 1: little close on Sunday, but still intact. Hawks now back
- 0:54Speaker 1: to back ten one seasons for the first time since
- 0:56Speaker 1: twenty nineteen and twenty twenty, they matched their win total
- 0:58Speaker 1: from last season. So right now, up and feeling pretty good,
- 1:01Speaker 1: feeling good about these guys. You went and took care
- 1:03Speaker 1: of business. The first half wasn't the greatest.
- 1:05Speaker 3: We're gonna dive into that as well, but the adjustments
- 1:07Speaker 3: were made, plays were made.
- 1:10Speaker 4: This team is ascending at the right time.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I mean, if ten and three, you're literally in charge
- 1:16Speaker 1: of what you want to do.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 1: In terms of and I'm not just saying the NFC West,
- 1:20Speaker 1: I'm talking to number one overall. See in the NFC,
- 1:22Speaker 1: lots of football be played. I'm not getting ahead of ourselves.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I'm just telling you what the facts are with the situation.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I don't want to lie to anybody. Let's jump right
- 1:29Speaker 2: into the game.
- 1:30Speaker 3: What had happened, See, what had happened was what had
- 1:35Speaker 3: happened at first was what had happened was on Hawk talk.
- 1:39Speaker 1: This game was a tail of two halves. You know,
- 1:41Speaker 1: it's very Everyone says that, I guess, but it really was.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Game started as defensive battle, both teams trading punts in
- 1:47Speaker 1: field goals.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Game was three to three at the end of the
- 1:49Speaker 2: first quarter.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Hawks were forced a punt on the first drive of
- 1:52Speaker 1: second quarter, disasters strike for the Seahawks. Sam Darnold was
- 1:54Speaker 1: intercepted on a pass intended for Elijah Royal gets batted
- 1:58Speaker 1: in the air, intercepted by Mike Huges. Defense, though, would
- 2:00Speaker 1: step up big, shutting down the Falcons. Then Nicki min
- 2:03Speaker 1: Worri gets his first career block on a fifty yard
- 2:05Speaker 1: field goal attemph great extension.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and he talked about the technique. He's been
- 2:08Speaker 3: working on that technique. So it's nice when you practice it,
- 2:11Speaker 3: you know your coach you're teaching, you go out and
- 2:13Speaker 3: you execute it. And Evan Warre gave his coach some
- 2:16Speaker 3: love there. The Hawks would putting the Falcons would have
- 2:19Speaker 3: their best driver of the day. They went eleven play
- 2:21Speaker 3: sixty three yards, but we need to set a four
- 2:23Speaker 3: field goal. That made it six to three Atlanta. The
- 2:25Speaker 3: Hawks will respond with a field goal on their driver
- 2:28Speaker 3: of their own. The clothes off the half six to six.
- 2:30Speaker 3: So this is when they're going into a halftime. We're
- 2:33Speaker 3: doing the halftime show and we don't feel like they're
- 2:35Speaker 3: going to lose this ball game, but we're wondering what
- 2:38Speaker 3: adjustments will be made well, this is one and we're
- 2:40Speaker 3: not even an adjustment just to play that was made.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Second half Stars Forshi goes to the house one hundred
- 2:46Speaker 3: yards to the house.
- 2:47Speaker 4: That made the score thirteen to six.
- 2:49Speaker 3: That was his third career return for a touchdown and
- 2:52Speaker 3: we've been waiting for him to make a play like this.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It was so great.
- 2:55Speaker 1: We talked to him on Hawks Live, I've talked him
- 2:57Speaker 1: around the building. Super great guy, super happy to be here,
- 3:00Speaker 1: and he got here. He was talking about making this
- 3:01Speaker 1: his home long term. So love to see it. Love
- 3:03Speaker 1: to see him payoff in the game plan because when
- 3:06Speaker 1: we get him rolling bump, this team could be dangerous.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Special team's been doing their thing all season long. On
- 3:11Speaker 1: the Falcons next drive, they move the ball a little bit,
- 3:13Speaker 1: but DeMarcus Lawrence will force a huge fumball on Jehan
- 3:15Speaker 1: Robinson recovered by Devin Witherspoon. Two guys making plays all
- 3:18Speaker 1: year long. Hawks take advantage right away, going eight plays
- 3:21Speaker 1: eighty eight yards, ending with a twenty hour touchdown to
- 3:24Speaker 1: Jackson Smith the jigba who's back, Lads and gentlemen, not
- 3:26Speaker 1: that he left, but putting numbers up again.
- 3:28Speaker 2: We'll break that play down a little bit later. Yep.
- 3:30Speaker 3: That made the score twenty to six. The Seahawks will
- 3:33Speaker 3: force another turnover on the Falcon's next drive. You got
- 3:36Speaker 3: Nicki Molwarre interception. My man is Ebruary's blocking kicks interception.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 3:41Speaker 3: The Hawks will get points off of that turnover with
- 3:43Speaker 3: a thirty seven yard field goal from Myers.
- 3:45Speaker 4: That made the score twenty three to six.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Falcons are just They're not doing anything, nothing really threatening
- 3:51Speaker 1: this game. They go down and answer with the field goal,
- 3:53Speaker 1: make it twenty three to nine. And this was a
- 3:55Speaker 1: nail win. In the caff this was all she wrote.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Hawks put it out of reach. Six play sixty yard
- 3:59Speaker 1: drive anywhe eleven yard touchdown to Cooper Cup Love to
- 4:02Speaker 1: see Cooper get in the action. His second touchdown with
- 4:05Speaker 1: the Seahawks. I mean to score thirty to nine. In
- 4:07Speaker 1: the hospital, continue making plays on the defensive side. Another
- 4:10Speaker 1: chip pass eventually intercepted by Devin Witherspoon. He said, I
- 4:13Speaker 1: don't even know how I caught it. A lot of commotion,
- 4:15Speaker 1: ball in the air. He makes a play just like
- 4:16Speaker 1: Spoon does.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Hey, sometimes you just at the right place, right time
- 4:19Speaker 3: and you make a play alight. So six plays after
- 4:21Speaker 3: that the host will find the end zone again. You
- 4:23Speaker 3: find JSN for a four yard touchdown, which you got
- 4:26Speaker 3: a big up Sam on this one moving in the pocket.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I'm gonna called scram but he's just maneuvering within the pocket,
- 4:31Speaker 3: gets a fit little bit, drops it over the top
- 4:33Speaker 3: and not an easy catch from for Josson. That's a
- 4:36Speaker 3: tough one, low and fast. That made the score thirty
- 4:39Speaker 3: seven to nine. The Falcons would turn the ball over
- 4:41Speaker 3: on down to the next possession and that was all
- 4:43Speaker 3: she wrote.
- 4:45Speaker 1: This Seahawks team, man, I mean again, they continue to
- 4:48Speaker 1: show us how they're gonna win football games. You win
- 4:50Speaker 1: the turnover battle three to one, you outgain the Falcons,
- 4:52Speaker 1: you win time possession. Seahawks have not loud an offensive
- 4:55Speaker 1: touchdown in two games. Yes, you played against bro Smurr
- 4:58Speaker 1: her cousins, Say what you want about it. He's won
- 5:00Speaker 1: a lot of games in this football you know, in
- 5:02Speaker 1: this football league, and he's a good player. And he
- 5:04Speaker 1: couldn't find anything out with the Seahawks defense.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Yep, and they rushed for a buck twenty nine.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Sam Darnold contributed on that average about five yards per
- 5:11Speaker 3: carry so so far this season, the Seahawks had four
- 5:13Speaker 3: games where they score thirty plus points in a half.
- 5:16Speaker 3: The rest of the league only has six of those things,
- 5:18Speaker 3: so they can be explosive. It's not about how you start,
- 5:21Speaker 3: it's about how you finish. Ten and three sounds good.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, now that has a nice little ring to it.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm hoping that, you know, fourteen thousand three, you know,
- 5:28Speaker 1: sounds a little bit better. Again, to get ahead myself,
- 5:30Speaker 1: we're talking about this game, bump, what you learn.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I learn that these coaches can make slight adjustments at halftime,
- 5:38Speaker 3: because we talked about this before, like you only to
- 5:41Speaker 3: give about five or six minutes with your team, right
- 5:42Speaker 3: the coaches are running down from the press spots, you're
- 5:44Speaker 3: getting in there, you're talking to your coordinators doing all
- 5:46Speaker 3: this stuff.
- 5:46Speaker 4: And the adjustments that they made into the second half,
- 5:48Speaker 4: I loved it.
- 5:49Speaker 3: They packed it in offensively, they still ran the football,
- 5:52Speaker 3: they went for the shorter pass. It's kind of loosen
- 5:54Speaker 3: things up, and now the linebackers the safeties are biting up.
- 5:57Speaker 4: You catch them a man, you take your shot.
- 5:59Speaker 3: It was almost like they were just enticing them, like, look,
- 6:01Speaker 3: all right, you're gonna give us a short stuff. We'll
- 6:02Speaker 3: take it, We'll run the ball and then we'll go
- 6:04Speaker 3: up top. I love the patience and the adjustment.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Just jumping off that too. I learned about the adjustments
- 6:09Speaker 2: as well.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I'm forgetting who I heard this recently by, But when
- 6:13Speaker 1: you talk about good coaches, if you're not a great coach, bump,
- 6:15Speaker 1: you don't make adjustice. So the game's over, right, you
- 6:17Speaker 1: gotta look at the film on Monday, like what happened
- 6:19Speaker 1: to us?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Out there?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Other coaches that are average, they can make great adjustments
- 6:23Speaker 1: at halftime if they have the time to do it.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Really good coaches make adjustments on the spot, on the fly,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and I think that's what you're seeing from this coaching staff.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They're able to get together and go drive by drive,
- 6:31Speaker 1: play by play and make adjustments because this two weeks
- 6:34Speaker 1: in a row where offensively things have looked hard. They
- 6:37Speaker 1: are not moving the football, and then the second half
- 6:39Speaker 1: you're like, what on earth happened? The Falcons defensive cordon
- 6:42Speaker 1: is probably looking up being like what what just happened?
- 6:44Speaker 1: We were competing now we're not. So I love what
- 6:46Speaker 1: we are seeing from this football team. So many people
- 6:49Speaker 1: making plays all over the field, playmakers, playmakers to them.
- 6:59Speaker 2: What time it is?
- 7:00Speaker 1: Oh wait, Sam Donald bump back where he belongs twenty
- 7:04Speaker 1: to thirty, two hundred and forty nine yards, three touchdowns,
- 7:07Speaker 1: one interception, QB rating of one to eleven point seven,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and something really cool bump that I saw from next
- 7:12Speaker 1: Gen Stats before right before we came in here. Donald's
- 7:15Speaker 1: very effective versus the man blitz. He was six of
- 7:18Speaker 1: eight seventy five yards in a touchdown. That's really cool
- 7:21Speaker 1: to see, especially after Minnesota had so much success bringing
- 7:24Speaker 1: pressure and obviously apples and orange is I'm not saying
- 7:26Speaker 1: they're all the same things, but just to see him
- 7:28Speaker 1: be as successful as he was with pressure you mentioned
- 7:30Speaker 1: on Jason's second touchdown.
- 7:32Speaker 2: He's playing at a high level and I think not.
- 7:34Speaker 1: That he ever fell off, but I love that he
- 7:36Speaker 1: is playing with that confidence because he is who he is,
- 7:39Speaker 1: because he makes tight throws and tight windos and he's
- 7:42Speaker 1: making plays.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Yeah exactly, it's his interception. Almost don't even fault to
- 7:46Speaker 3: him for that. It was a bad throw. But he
- 7:48Speaker 3: has to be confident enough to make those type of
- 7:50Speaker 3: throws if this team wants to win these ballgames. Because
- 7:53Speaker 3: you're not wide open, You're hardly a wide opening in
- 7:54Speaker 3: the NFL. I think the Packers had a play last
- 7:57Speaker 3: night where big it was a bow, mountain was wide
- 7:59Speaker 3: of behind the defense. Doesn't happen often, so Sam, you
- 8:03Speaker 3: keep doing your thing. Next up, we got JSN seven receptions,
- 8:06Speaker 3: eighty two yards and two touchdowns. He passed dk Metcalf
- 8:08Speaker 3: for first place for most receiving yards in the players
- 8:11Speaker 3: first three seasons in franchise history.
- 8:12Speaker 4: He has three and eighty six.
- 8:15Speaker 3: He passed Bobby Ingram and Jimmy Graham for tenth plays
- 8:17Speaker 3: on Seattle's all time receiving touchdowns list with nineteen. He
- 8:21Speaker 3: passed Darryl Jackson for a fifth place for the most
- 8:23Speaker 3: receiving touchdowns in the players first receivings in franchise history.
- 8:26Speaker 4: With nineteen, JSN.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Has a eighty nine receptions for fourteen hundred yards fourteen
- 8:32Speaker 3: hundred and twenty eight yards and nine touchdowns this season.
- 8:34Speaker 3: He's a sixth player in NFL history with at least
- 8:36Speaker 3: eighty five receptions, fourteen hundred and nine touchdowns through a
- 8:39Speaker 3: players first thirteen games of a season.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Another typical week. It took a break, you know what.
- 8:45Speaker 3: It's just he didn't want us to have to read
- 8:47Speaker 3: up all the things he accomplished last week, right, So
- 8:49Speaker 3: I'm gonna save it for this week.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Save the heavy lifting, man, I mean, you run out
- 8:53Speaker 1: of words. We talked about him every each and every week.
- 8:55Speaker 1: We feature a playoffs each and every week because he's special.
- 8:58Speaker 2: He's special.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And we'll get into this on the preview pod bump
- 9:02Speaker 1: when we were talking about the Colts, they got a
- 9:04Speaker 1: lot of injuries in the secondary. Yeah, if he has
- 9:07Speaker 1: another big game, I'm talking one fifty one sixty. We
- 9:09Speaker 1: were legitimately talking about Calvin Johnson's record as we close
- 9:12Speaker 1: in on it. So something to keep an eye peeled
- 9:14Speaker 1: out for Hawk fans on that. Rashid Shiheed, another receiver
- 9:18Speaker 1: in that room, four receptions sixty seven yards, obviously had
- 9:21Speaker 1: the one one hundred yard kick return long ast play
- 9:23Speaker 1: in the NFL this season, his third career return touchdown, and.
- 9:26Speaker 2: You mentioned it.
- 9:28Speaker 1: So great to see him get active offensively as well,
- 9:30Speaker 1: not just in the return game, because we know what
- 9:32Speaker 1: he brings in the return game. We've seen bits and
- 9:33Speaker 1: pieces of that, especially in his punt returns, but to
- 9:36Speaker 1: see him in the receiving game, he changes it. Because
- 9:38Speaker 1: when you have a guy with that kind of speed,
- 9:40Speaker 1: and then you have JSN and then you have Cooper Cup,
- 9:42Speaker 1: and then you have a Royo and then you have Barner.
- 9:45Speaker 1: It makes it hard on a defense. I'll love to
- 9:46Speaker 1: see Shaheed doing what the Seahawks needed him to do
- 9:49Speaker 1: when they signed him.
- 9:50Speaker 3: And there's a player to where if Sam may get pressured,
- 9:53Speaker 3: oh that hand us up.
- 9:55Speaker 4: He is gone.
- 9:56Speaker 3: So a little bit more protection early and then we'll
- 9:59Speaker 3: see another big play for him.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I'm sure, all right.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Devin Witherspoon seven tackles too pass the defendive, one quarterback hit,
- 10:03Speaker 3: one fumbel recovery, one interception, only his second interception of
- 10:07Speaker 3: his career. That's amazing. You feel like he should have
- 10:11Speaker 3: at least four or five six of them things. But
- 10:13Speaker 3: he affects to what the game in different ways too.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Man and the energy that he plays with, I love
- 10:18Speaker 3: it and I'm glad he got rewarded with his activity
- 10:22Speaker 3: that he usually has to out again.
- 10:24Speaker 1: One hundred percent. I think Paul Moorey made a good point.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Buddha Baker is one of the top safeties in this league.
- 10:27Speaker 1: He's not a guy that's a high interception rate. That
- 10:30Speaker 1: doesn't mean he's not on the right spot. That he
- 10:31Speaker 1: wouldn't do it, so Devin Witherspoon. He impacts the game
- 10:34Speaker 1: all over the place. Coach McDonald calls him a force multiplier.
- 10:36Speaker 1: His energy is contagious, his playbacks it up. He'll let
- 10:39Speaker 1: you know about it. Everything about Spoon. Love to watch
- 10:42Speaker 1: seeing that secondary and speaking in the secondary.
- 10:45Speaker 2: You mentioned it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: The rookie Nicki min Wory out of South Carolina has
- 10:47Speaker 1: six tackles, one sack, two TFLs, one QB hit, one interception,
- 10:51Speaker 1: one pass defendant, one blocked field goal. He's the first
- 10:54Speaker 1: player in franchise history for quartersack, blockfield goal, interception in
- 10:58Speaker 1: the same game. You want to talk about filling up
- 11:00Speaker 1: the statute. There's not a lot more you could have
- 11:02Speaker 1: done except score touchdown. Nick Is I think I heard
- 11:06Speaker 1: you say it on your show today. He's the most
- 11:08Speaker 1: versatile player in the NFL. Is that you said he
- 11:10Speaker 1: is the most versatile. I didn't say he was the best.
- 11:12Speaker 1: He is the most versatile player in the league. You
- 11:15Speaker 1: can walk them down the line.
- 11:16Speaker 3: You can play second love with a backer and go
- 11:18Speaker 3: nickel slot tight end, safety, walk me out outside, man
- 11:23Speaker 3: up there.
- 11:24Speaker 4: He can play everywhere.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Man I watched, I was really impressed with his game
- 11:27Speaker 3: last night.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's as good as you can get.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I mean, and I love it. It's different. And the
- 11:32Speaker 1: really cool thing about Nick that I love is everyone
- 11:34Speaker 1: always immediately wants to do a comparison Legion of Boom, right,
- 11:37Speaker 1: because that's when this franchise is that it's best, So
- 11:38Speaker 1: naturally it's an easy comparison to fall back on. I
- 11:41Speaker 1: just love it because all these dudes are different. Nick
- 11:43Speaker 1: is not Cam Chancellor, he's not Earl Thomas, He's not
- 11:46Speaker 1: anyone from that that era. And I love what we're
- 11:49Speaker 1: seeing from him because he's a new breed and he's
- 11:53Speaker 1: a guy that people are gonna try to emulate.
- 11:54Speaker 2: That's all that was happening.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I will say that's a comparison because that was happening
- 11:57Speaker 1: in Legion of Boom Richard Truman, Hey, we need to
- 11:59Speaker 1: find a three corners of the move. We need to
- 12:01Speaker 1: find a guy like Cam Chancer, which is one of one,
- 12:04Speaker 1: but people are gonna try. So really cool to see
- 12:07Speaker 1: Nick Balin.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Yeah, man, and Nick, keep it up, baby, keep it up.
- 12:10Speaker 3: I just get to this wide receiver round up. We
- 12:12Speaker 3: got JSM seven for ninety two two touchdowns. Rashid Shaheed
- 12:16Speaker 3: four for sixty seven, Cooper Cup two for thirty five,
- 12:19Speaker 3: and a tuddy. Aj Barner had three for twenty seven.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Sharvina had two for twenty, Cody had one for nine
- 12:24Speaker 3: on a big third down. I might add a Royo
- 12:27Speaker 3: nothing on a target, and Ken Walker had a reception
- 12:29Speaker 3: as well.
- 12:30Speaker 4: This looks more more like it last week.
- 12:33Speaker 3: That received around up was a little strange, a little
- 12:36Speaker 3: so yeah, but you're spreading the wealth around.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And the other thing about Jason, I'll say quickly, is
- 12:40Speaker 1: I love. We used to say this about Tyler Lockett
- 12:41Speaker 1: all the time. His reception to target ratio is so close.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It's not thirteen receptions or four receptions thirteen targets.
- 12:50Speaker 2: It's always very close.
- 12:51Speaker 1: And honestly, we've seen a lot of eighth rates nine
- 12:54Speaker 1: nine for tens because those dudes have a really special
- 12:57Speaker 1: connection going on. But we're really excited about this coming up.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Plays of the game, some really cool plays that we
- 13:01Speaker 1: saw on Sunday, starting with Rashid Shaheed taking it one
- 13:05Speaker 1: hundred yards to the house.
- 13:07Speaker 5: The usual cast of characters deep Veilis Jones and Rashid
- 13:10Speaker 5: Shahed Shaheed, the deeper of the two back on the
- 13:14Speaker 5: goal line and here comes to kick end over end.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Shaheed from the goal line near right side, numbers up
- 13:19Speaker 5: the field ten twenty looking for a gap.
- 13:21Speaker 2: He's got one. He's off to the races. Lookout.
- 13:24Speaker 6: This could be at fifty forty thirty. They're not gonna
- 13:27Speaker 6: touch him. Ten five. He looks back, touchdown, Seahawks.
- 13:33Speaker 7: What a way to start the second half. Kick the
- 13:37Speaker 7: ball to Rashid Shaheed and say go baby for one hundred.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Yards and he does.
- 13:43Speaker 7: The Seahawks on top. Now twelve six, had a chance
- 13:49Speaker 7: to put a thirteenth on the board. Shaheed grabs well football,
- 13:52Speaker 7: head to the sidelines, and the Seahawks just like that,
- 13:56Speaker 7: the big play and they take the lead.
- 14:00Speaker 4: So I'm looking at this from the end zone view.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Okay, So when I talk about the Seahawks, it's like
- 14:04Speaker 3: I'm on the kickoff team looking at their return team.
- 14:07Speaker 3: So I'm working from left to right. What the Falcons
- 14:10Speaker 3: try to do is what you do to get return.
- 14:11Speaker 3: You try to pin them in a corner. You don't
- 14:13Speaker 3: want to give them the middle of the field and
- 14:14Speaker 3: have them really manipulate what's going on. So it's kind
- 14:17Speaker 3: of like there's a slant going on with this kickcover team.
- 14:20Speaker 3: You know, the more I look at kickoff and kickoff return,
- 14:23Speaker 3: the more this resembles just line play in the box.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Now you go from left to right, left, and we'll
- 14:28Speaker 3: call that you're L one. He takes his guy, all right,
- 14:31Speaker 3: you got your L two. He takes a guy low.
- 14:32Speaker 3: The L three reminds me of a trap. So what
- 14:35Speaker 3: you're doing is you're wrapping around. You're gonna trap the one, two, three, four,
- 14:40Speaker 3: five six guy from the left side. Boom, surprise him.
- 14:42Speaker 3: We call it a hay block. Hey, you know that
- 14:44Speaker 3: was coming. We got you. And now you got to
- 14:46Speaker 3: look at just the bodies across the board, right. All
- 14:49Speaker 3: you want to do is give your returner a chance.
- 14:51Speaker 3: So the off returner was supposed to take the unblocked guy,
- 14:54Speaker 3: which he does all right, lights him up, and then
- 14:56Speaker 3: across the board you're getting bodies on bodies. I love
- 14:59Speaker 3: how or she cessed this up. He gives the right
- 15:02Speaker 3: side a chance. I'm gonna go straight because I want
- 15:05Speaker 3: people to gravitate towards what I'm doing. As soon as
- 15:08Speaker 3: my offer turner picks my guy, and now I'm just
- 15:10Speaker 3: searching for lanes and it parts like the Red Sea.
- 15:13Speaker 3: He picks up a lucky block there by nineteen Cody
- 15:16Speaker 3: White does a good job by not getting his hands
- 15:18Speaker 3: on the back of the defender there. And now you're
- 15:21Speaker 3: one on one with a kicker who was not made
- 15:23Speaker 3: for this. He was probably played soccer growing up and
- 15:26Speaker 3: is there to kick the football, looks scared for she's
- 15:29Speaker 3: too fast, and the rest is history.
- 15:33Speaker 1: This right here is just a great play from so
- 15:34Speaker 1: many different levels. And I'm gonna call out three blocks
- 15:36Speaker 1: and three people, specifically Brady Russell. He does a great job,
- 15:40Speaker 1: especially because they're right at the point of attack right there.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Then there's a great double team on this play. You
- 15:44Speaker 1: got Cali up and Mike Morris and you watch you
- 15:47Speaker 1: heat he runs right out there butt there, and then
- 15:50Speaker 1: you talked about Bobo, and you talked about Cody White.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Bobo.
- 15:53Speaker 1: First, he's got the backside, He's got like the R
- 15:56Speaker 1: four on the backside, and he doesn't he misses the
- 15:59Speaker 1: block initially, but he does just enough to run with him.
- 16:02Speaker 1: And a lot of people make a mistake right there
- 16:05Speaker 1: when they're in that trailed position of doing something and
- 16:09Speaker 1: you know, hitting him in the back or doing something.
- 16:11Speaker 1: He does just enough to not get a penalty, which
- 16:13Speaker 1: is great, and then Cody White does the exact same
- 16:15Speaker 1: thing presence of mind in that situation, because it's really hard,
- 16:18Speaker 1: Bump to have all those dudes blocking hat on a
- 16:21Speaker 1: hat on a play like this and it happens. So
- 16:24Speaker 1: you just hate to have something like that at the
- 16:26Speaker 1: end happened in the gate a touchdown that didn't happen.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Bobo and White do not have that happen. And then Shaheed,
- 16:32Speaker 1: you talked about it. You know, I think this is
- 16:34Speaker 1: a different player. I think it's number three or who
- 16:36Speaker 1: is that number seventeen on the Falcons kickoff team. He
- 16:40Speaker 1: might make this play if Shheat is not as fast
- 16:43Speaker 1: as he is. Right, he gets to a point where
- 16:45Speaker 1: he thinks like, oh, especially the end zone, He's like, oh,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I might make this play, and then happens so fast
- 16:49Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, what happened to my angle? Rashiet
- 16:51Speaker 1: is gone yep, and then no one in this locker
- 16:52Speaker 1: room will let him live it down with the kicker,
- 16:55Speaker 1: and he just put his thing on and gosh, speed
- 16:59Speaker 1: kills Bump in this league. You cannot teach that. He
- 17:02Speaker 1: looks like he's gliding, but he's going away from people
- 17:04Speaker 1: right people are they're running. You can tell when they're running,
- 17:07Speaker 1: their breathing hard as hard as they can. No, you
- 17:09Speaker 1: can't get some to Shaheed Man. So love what we're
- 17:11Speaker 1: seeing from Jay harboss team on special teams and she
- 17:15Speaker 1: Rashid Shahed getting it done there as well our next play.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I mean, he's always gonna be a part of this
- 17:21Speaker 1: bump because he continues to make plays. Sam Darnald finds
- 17:24Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jigba for a twenty eight yard touchdown.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Donald four for four on this drive for fifty two yards.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Walker stays in the backfield wideouts to both sides, Cooper
- 17:33Speaker 5: Cup to the far side, JSN to the near side.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Play fake Blitz is coming, throw inside on the slant.
- 17:40Speaker 2: It's caught.
- 17:40Speaker 6: JSN break the tackle. He's gonna go in touchdown Seahawks
- 17:46Speaker 6: from twenty eight outs, no flags. A Falcon stays down
- 17:51Speaker 6: back near the line of scrimmage, but the offense for
- 17:54Speaker 6: Seattle runs to the end zone to congratulate Jackson Smith
- 17:58Speaker 6: and Jigba. Another touchdown reception for him on this season.
- 18:03Speaker 6: JSN now his eighth touchdown catch and the Seahawks with
- 18:08Speaker 6: that career high in touchdown reception for JSN take a
- 18:12Speaker 6: nineteen to six lead over the Falcons.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I love this here. I think that this is
- 18:18Speaker 3: the mind games that Kubiak plays with folks. Right, look,
- 18:21Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna come out here with a tight end.
- 18:22Speaker 4: All right.
- 18:23Speaker 3: We're gonna be an eleven personnel tied into the right side.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Believe that is that Calior up. That's Calor up to
- 18:28Speaker 3: the right side. He's gonna motion in the backfield.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Now.
- 18:30Speaker 3: I don't know what the Falcons would do personnel wise
- 18:33Speaker 3: if they broke the huddle with a full back, but
- 18:35Speaker 3: I'm assuming that there's some type of mismatch out there
- 18:38Speaker 3: that Kubiak like. That's why you do things like this here,
- 18:41Speaker 3: all right, So now let's look at just the receivers
- 18:43Speaker 3: to start. We're gonna start at the left side, our
- 18:45Speaker 3: left side. We got clear man on Cooper Cup there. Okay,
- 18:48Speaker 3: if he wants to go to the left side, he
- 18:49Speaker 3: can go to the left side. Cooper Cup getting out
- 18:51Speaker 3: of his break, creating some space. All right, Let's work
- 18:53Speaker 3: over to to the insight, to the slot.
- 18:54Speaker 4: We've got slide.
- 18:55Speaker 3: We have Rashid Shahi putting pressure on that safety right now,
- 18:58Speaker 3: inside release deep cross. This team runs the best deep
- 19:01Speaker 3: crosses in all of football. They are deep cross masters.
- 19:04Speaker 3: So now we're down at the bottom looking at Jasin.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Jason stumps a little bit inside release and he's just
- 19:09Speaker 3: running then in breaking rounde a dig, a dagger bang,
- 19:11Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it. All right, what I
- 19:12Speaker 3: like about this is that Sam Donald has to anticipate
- 19:16Speaker 3: this throw. He throws it before he crosses that second
- 19:20Speaker 3: level defender number three right there, who is a safety. Okay,
- 19:23Speaker 3: And if I'm in the backfield, I'm looking at the
- 19:24Speaker 3: way this safety is creeping up and I'm expecting blitz.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Safety walks up to that back into the box like that,
- 19:29Speaker 3: and linebacker's going to go. We see that fullback does
- 19:32Speaker 3: a great job picking that up, so now he drops.
- 19:34Speaker 4: He's reading the eyes of Sam Donald.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Sam Donald anticipates the throw, gets it to Jayssin the
- 19:39Speaker 3: speed of Rashisha. He does just enough to hold that
- 19:41Speaker 3: safety to create that winner. They's throwing it as well.
- 19:44Speaker 3: On the other side, you have Cooper cup a one
- 19:45Speaker 3: on one matchup. He's in man, He's pulling the fenders
- 19:48Speaker 3: with him. So now let's talk about the effort of
- 19:50Speaker 3: this corner right here. This dB goodness, gracious man, I'm
- 19:52Speaker 3: glad you didn't go all out and give us full effort.
- 19:55Speaker 3: But that was a bit too easy for Jason to
- 19:57Speaker 3: break that tackle. So now I want to look at
- 19:59Speaker 3: what's going on in the box. Like I mentioned, fifty
- 20:01Speaker 3: five is gonna blitz. Guess who picks him up? Boom,
- 20:03Speaker 3: your full back slash tight end who can do it all.
- 20:06Speaker 3: And then also look at his bam knocks him to
- 20:09Speaker 3: the ground and we're sotted across the line of scrimmage.
- 20:11Speaker 3: You have Ola who comes and helps with the one
- 20:13Speaker 3: tech there. Then he slightly sees he sees that linebacker coming.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Linebacker goes on a little stunt, don't matter.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 3: K nine is gonna pick him up because he's like
- 20:22Speaker 3: in a man type deal, so yes to go after him.
- 20:24Speaker 3: It was just controlled chaos is what's going on in
- 20:26Speaker 3: this box right here? All right, get the full back
- 20:29Speaker 3: picking up, you got Olu helping out, and then the
- 20:31Speaker 3: man coverage on K nine draws another another defender with
- 20:35Speaker 3: him just well executed.
- 20:37Speaker 1: No, I love it, and I think with this, especially
- 20:38Speaker 1: Sam Donald, this offense, Kubiak, if you're going to bring
- 20:41Speaker 1: man pressure, you better get home, right because if you
- 20:43Speaker 1: do not get home, Sam Donald company will make you pay.
- 20:46Speaker 1: You love the motion to kind of see where they're
- 20:47Speaker 1: in Boom. The safeties are talking to each other. Once
- 20:50Speaker 1: Caliber comes back, number of Bates is like, that's my
- 20:52Speaker 1: guy right there. Cali Rup does not release on a route.
- 20:55Speaker 1: He blocks, that's his responsibility. So he goes, Okay, I'm
- 20:57Speaker 1: just gonna look for some help. If you're a coach,
- 21:00Speaker 1: point I'd say, probably try to get a little bit
- 21:01Speaker 1: more depth. If you know eleven is to your side,
- 21:03Speaker 1: he doesn't. Jason runs behind him and the safety he's
- 21:07Speaker 1: got a tough angle. That's a tough play to make
- 21:09Speaker 1: from that depth. Again with Jason running away from you,
- 21:12Speaker 1: and then I'll just say again, not finishing the play
- 21:15Speaker 1: from both of them, whether it's the corner of safety,
- 21:17Speaker 1: don't get that's that's the best receiver in the National
- 21:19Speaker 1: Football League right there. Again, you're gonna need to do
- 21:22Speaker 1: a little bit better when you're trying to bring him down.
- 21:24Speaker 1: But again, just taking advantage of what people do. They
- 21:26Speaker 1: brought a lot of pressure. I'll say it again, if
- 21:28Speaker 1: you do not get home against this team, they will
- 21:30Speaker 1: make you pay. Every single time, great protection. This team's rolling, bump, rolling.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Love what we're seeing because we can stay in victory
- 21:36Speaker 1: formation all season long.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Baby, for.
- 21:40Speaker 7: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto the field and the
- 21:43Speaker 7: Vikings defense trutching out there knowing that one kneel down
- 21:49Speaker 7: and the Seahawks are gonna wine the clock down and
- 21:51Speaker 7: win this one.
- 21:52Speaker 2: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk. Like we said,
- 21:55Speaker 2: it was a tail two halves.
- 21:57Speaker 1: See how dominated the second half, domination him thirty one
- 22:00Speaker 1: to three in that second half, fourth game of season
- 22:03Speaker 1: where Yaks were thirty plus points in a half, The
- 22:05Speaker 1: rest of the league, as you said earlier, combined for
- 22:07Speaker 1: just six of those, which is insane. This team, when
- 22:09Speaker 1: they turn it up they want to score. It can
- 22:11Speaker 1: get real tough. Sam Darnold slow start, but did damage
- 22:14Speaker 1: in the second half, throwing three touchdowns.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Yep and Jason had a nice bounce back game two touchdowns,
- 22:19Speaker 3: a little short of one hundred yards, but that's all good.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Rashi did his thing as well, had one hundred yard
- 22:23Speaker 3: kickoff return as we broke down and look at us,
- 22:25Speaker 3: had sixty something yards throughout the air, and then the
- 22:28Speaker 3: young It's like the new era of.
- 22:30Speaker 4: These young dudes.
- 22:31Speaker 7: Right.
- 22:31Speaker 3: No, Reek is a little older, I guess in these guys,
- 22:33Speaker 3: but he still feels young. He got Nicki mcwire, Reek Walling.
- 22:36Speaker 3: We're all problems for these dudes. Man m Mawari had
- 22:40Speaker 3: his best game as a pro by form. He did
- 22:42Speaker 3: something no other Seahawk has ever done before. He filled
- 22:46Speaker 3: up that stat shee with a sack, interception, block kick
- 22:48Speaker 3: TfL so much more than Spoon with a fun recovery
- 22:52Speaker 3: and an interception.
- 22:53Speaker 4: This is I'm feeling good about this defense, oh.
- 22:55Speaker 1: No question about it. And you added Julian Love and
- 22:57Speaker 1: even mentioned it right. Good to see him. I want
- 22:59Speaker 1: to say he played twenty some snaps it last game
- 23:02Speaker 1: and he's gonna I think that number might jump to
- 23:04Speaker 1: one hundred because Julian Love was the guy that never
- 23:06Speaker 1: came off the field for this defense. So now when
- 23:08Speaker 1: you have all of them and what you can do
- 23:09Speaker 1: in the secondary, good luck. This is gonna get fun defensively.
- 23:13Speaker 1: And again I've said this multiple times, but it's true.
- 23:15Speaker 2: It is what it is.
- 23:16Speaker 1: This team is dangerous because they can win in different ways. Okay,
- 23:19Speaker 1: they could dominate you offensively and when offensive struggling the defense. Hey,
- 23:23Speaker 1: we got your back, hold them down in the first half,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and guess what we need a big plan. Special teams,
- 23:26Speaker 1: bam block kick were turned touchdown. I mean East offense
- 23:29Speaker 1: five straight possessions with a touchdown, special teams. This team
- 23:33Speaker 1: is doing it all man, and now we're here at
- 23:35Speaker 1: Seahawk fans, We've been waiting for this stretch run for
- 23:37Speaker 1: a long time.
- 23:38Speaker 2: We are here.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Colts, Rams, Panthers, Niners, Okay, all teams winning records, all
- 23:43Speaker 1: teams that are expecting to be in the playoffs.
- 23:46Speaker 2: The Seahawks expect to be there as well.
- 23:47Speaker 1: They've deserved, they've earned, as Mike McDonald's, the right to
- 23:50Speaker 1: expect to win, and we get to see it each
- 23:52Speaker 1: and every week.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I'm excited about what this week will look like.
- 23:54Speaker 1: The Colts don't have Daniel Jones towards Achilles and we'll
- 23:58Speaker 1: see about right the injury.
- 24:01Speaker 2: It is going to be an interesting week. And that
- 24:03Speaker 2: is hurt quarterbacks not good for this defense. Luck to you.
- 24:08Speaker 1: We'll break all that down on Thursday. He's Michael Obamas,
- 24:10Speaker 1: some NASA trobe. The Seahawks get it done this weekend,
- 24:13Speaker 1: beating the Falcons thirty seven and nine.
- 24:15Speaker 2: This has been Hawk Talk
