- 0:04On this week's show.
- 0:05Did your parents, at any point, was like, bro, what are you doing with your life?
- 0:10I come from a Western Indian background. You know you know damn well it was not with it.
- 0:16I'm a be honest with you. I I never I never said this before. They told Star he's in your hands. If he fails, it's on you.
- 0:22Oh, wow. Wow. In three, two, one. I'm DJ Enuff. I'm DJ Camilo.
- 0:28I'm DJ Kast One. And I'm Len Boogs, a.k.a. L. Boogs. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, everyone worldwide, this is the Heavy Hitter DJs podcast.
- 0:42Yes, sir. Once again, back at it. The Heavy Hitter DJs podcast. L. Boogs in the spot. DJ Enuff. DJ Camilo. Kast One as we welcome our brethren DJ SpinKing aka Young Gravy. Yo, what up, family?
- 0:57I mean, happy to have you here. You know what mean? We we we Absolutely. We we we we've been tagging it out there for years now. We finally get to have a conversation. And, of course, the one thing people always don't believe is, like, you from Queens, New York. Correct? No. Bronx. I was born in The Bronx, You see? You see?
- 1:14Wait. What? You see, Kast? Go ahead. Talk to us. You thought I from Queens?
- 1:20Always. For my whole entire life. Why? Because of little Guyana in Queens? I'm not a fan of mine. Unfortunately unfortunately, yeah. That's what it was.
- 1:29No.
- 1:31Where in The Bronx, yo? I was born in The Bronx and then moved to Jersey.
- 1:35Where in where in The Bronx, though?
- 1:38Rosedale.
- 1:39Okay. Okay. And then y'all merged over to Jersey? Yes, sir.
- 1:43And I see you got that branch too in much trouble.
- 1:46You and Camilo got them red boxes in the background. That's it.
- 1:52Say, yo, SpinKing. You know what I mean?
- 1:54For those that don't know real quick, a quick introduction. Yourself? Yeah, man. Do yourself. Oh, what's up, yeah, everybody? It's your boy DJ SpinKing, Young Gravy, branch of corner five point one. We're a Heavy Hitter podcast.
- 2:05You know?
- 2:06We just here to make music, make the people feel good, DJ around the world, and just do what we love to do. That's all it is. Absolutely.
- 2:13Absolutely. Yo. SpinKing, man. Listen, man. You've been doing this for many years now. Now I can say this now because you've been doing this for many years now. For me, you was always the the new kid on the block, the young boy coming up. But, you know, it was 2026.
- 2:27I I, like, I clearly remember around 2011, 2010, you used to come to the station and just use on your grind. You know what I'm saying? You was not doing radio at that time. You was just hustling.
- 2:40And now moving forward to 2026, my my brother, it's like you got songs out.
- 2:46You know? You traveling the world. You on fire. And I most definitely gotta give you these flowers today because it's, you been journey. No. We're gonna get to it. Thank you. Thank you.
- 2:56It's been a journey.
- 2:57But let... Let's start with how it all started. Let's start with SpinKing. What made you become a fucking DJ? Like, was it a DJ? What what what was it? Who forced you to be a DJ in your family? Nobody forced me. So so originally originally, I was gonna be a pediatric doctor.
- 3:15Oh, wow. It's a honor to... I was gonna... My grandfather my grandfather on my dad's side was a doctor in Guyana, and I actually...
- 3:23In Jersey, I went to... I was an intern in Englewood Hospital for two years as, like, in the hospital.
- 3:30Then fast forward, when I was 16, 17, I got into a car accident. I took my oldest brother, Celeb's car, drinking and driving, crashed the car.
- 3:40As you know, got in trouble, West Indian parents, Pottsie done. They're not playing that.
- 3:45I I got grounded. I couldn't go nowhere.
- 3:48My oldest brother at the time, Celeb, was a DJ, and Star was a promoter, like, locally doing stuff like that. So the equipment was in the basement.
- 3:56That's all I had in the house. There was nothing else. There was no video games, so I just thought of the... At that time, he had turntables, and he had the CDJs.
- 4:04And he had booklets for days of the CDs. I would go through them list... Some of them even had track list. So I would just go through and listen to what songs it is, what rhythms it are, you know, the rhythm CDs and all that. And And I just fell in love with music, and that's... I started recording myself on YouTube.
- 4:17And, yeah, that's where it started.
- 4:20So so you never got into the vinyl game. Right? Because earlier... No. He had vinyls, and then when they became the Serato vinyls, I had it for a little bit, but that really wasn't kinda my error. My error really was more the CDJs. Like, it was transitioning from the vinyl to the CDJs.
- 4:34Right. Like, in my parents' basement, there's booklets and booklets and booklets of CDs, but not really vinyl. No. So so you ran with it, celeb celeb gave it up, and you just Yeah. You kept going? So that became an architect, the star ended up doing what he's doing, and I just followed through with it. I started throwing parties and... Because I was sweeping hair after school, and then on the weekends, I worked at my parents' house store at the time. So I would save up money, and then I would throw parties with my boy named Luck from Jersey. We would rent out hotel ballrooms.
- 5:05It was one and done because we never left it the way we got it. So we were kicked out of every hotel ballroom we had. That was a big thing in Jersey. Right? Because because voila used to do the same thing in Jersey. Yeah. Fair enough.
- 5:15Like like, the the ballrooms was where it's at for the young'uns. Yeah. The hotel ballrooms, we rent equipment and throw the parties there. And then after that, start being the promoter in Jersey at the time. I know...
- 5:29I mean, all of you guys here, Boogs, Camilo, Kast, Enuff. Aidan's Lounge in Jersey on a Thursday night was the party. Yeah.
- 5:37Yeah. So Star at the time when it was when it was Run's house, he booked Jojo. He ran into Jojo, and they became cool. They started working together. And then at the time, I was kinda still, like, grounded with the mute, like, you know. So me and Diggie would be in the house together, and then that's how that relationship came about with the Simmons family. And then he started rapping, and then we started traveling, and we...
- 5:57I was on the road for two years.
- 5:59I wasn't home for two years. At 18, 19 years old, I was on the road for two years. How did your how did your parents...
- 6:06You know, when when they started seeing this happening... Because it's happening really young for you.
- 6:09So, you know, sometimes parents have... Like you said, you wanted to be a pediatrician. Did your parents at any point was like, bro, what are you doing with your life? We don't want you doing this. We want you to, like... Come from a Western Union background.
- 6:19You know...
- 6:20Right. You know damn well it was not with it.
- 6:25I'm a be honest with you. I I never I never said this before. And it's honest truth because it happens. They told Star he's in your hands. If he fails, it's on you.
- 6:32Oh, wow. Wow. Wow. I never swear with that before. My parents my parents never got it. They're like, DJ, hip hop, rap. You know, they come up with, like... Enuff. You know when they believe you know when they believed in it? I will never forget my first time on one zero six in Park, and my grandmother turned on the TV. And then she called my mom, and my mom was like, well, he's on TV.
- 6:53And that's when they started believing. Like, seeing me on, like Right. You're on BT on 5PM.
- 6:58That's when they're like, oh, this is being serious. But how did... I'm interested in how that conversation... Because, again, like, Camilo, it's different for you or for myself or, you know, because we're a little bit older. Like, imagine your 16 year old son comes to you, like, hey. Yeah. You know what? I wanna go... I'm gonna go on the road and do all this DJ shit. Like, how do you convince your parents, especially West Indian Caribbean Caribbean parents to be like, yeah. Sure. Go ahead. Do it. Or you just say... What happened is Star had an appointment... Apartment in Jersey with two, three of our boys, and that's when I started making money, like, off the the the ballroom parties.
- 7:31So I would tell my mom I would sleep over. She knows this already, so it's not like she never heard this story before.
- 7:36So I would tell my mom and dad, I'm a go... I'm a just sleep at Starz tonight. Like, mind you, I was paying rent for a whole two years. I have my own room in that apartment.
- 7:47But they never knew that until after. So, like, I I moved out at six... As...
- 7:51At 18 years old. I was out the house. So so... Okay. So so what was the goal back then? Just, like, okay. I wanna be a DJ. Do... There was no goal because at that time, I was so young.
- 8:02I just, like... If you... Like, you know how rock... All you guys in the cloud.
- 8:07I mean, I grew up on you guys.
- 8:08You guys are who motivate. You know what I'm saying? Help me, mentor me. But my energy on the on the microphone, I think it comes from...
- 8:16I was... I started in arenas before clubs, technically.
- 8:20So you have to hype up 30,000 people before we're doing 400, 500 people in the club. I think the goal at that time was just enjoying the moment, if that makes sense. Like, I was just going with it.
- 8:29Like, at eighteen nineteen, you're telling me be up at ten, sound checks at one, meet and greet at five, showtime's at eight, and then we're on the road to over here.
- 8:38So it's like That's crazy. It was still all new to me. I was just living in the moment enjoying it. There really was no goal at that time. Well, you were like, what the hell is a soundcheck? We was on that time.
- 8:47Yeah. I didn't know... I I had no idea what a soundcheck was and then testing all of And then you get used to it. And then when you come up toward, you're like, alright. So what now? Right. You still having a good time, SpinKing? You still having fun doing this? I'm having a I'm having a ball.
- 9:01Right. I'm having a ball. He's definitely having a ball. He's on private planes.
- 9:05You know, he's with with 51 week. The next week, he's with... He's a Cardi. You know what mean?... Cardi and then, you and then and and now... Yeah. I'm still loving it. I'm still loving it. I'm not gonna lie. I mentioned this at every interview, and it's only where I say it in this one. One thing that Enuff told me in one of the first days I met him was, I love music. I dislike the music industry, and I deal with that every day, we all deal with it. But Enuff knows when he told me that when he's to come up to hot. Rest in peace, mister c. Like, being up there, I just... Being up there soaking in everything you guys would tell me, and that's what I live by day to day. Like, you gotta enjoy it because if you don't enjoy it, just... It ain't for you anymore, man. Because the game is so changed from when I started, so I can imagine from when you guys started how it's just so different now. And one thing one thing I like about you, you're a relationship guy. Like, you know what mean?
- 9:49Like, you've known us forever. You know what I'm saying? And then again, like, we said before, this whole 50 thing has... And it started last night. You know, you got a relationship with Cardi. Hey, boogie. Like, you're a relationship guy. And and I've seen your interviews, and we've had you in a few other platforms interview wise. But, like like, how important are these to you? Like, just just, you know, watering these relationships no matter what, especially the the organic ones. You know I mean?
- 10:10Okay. For, like, for instance, somebody called me the other day, and they're like, yo.
- 10:15Can you can you get Boogie to do this? You know, I know he wants this.
- 10:19Can you can you get him do it for this, and I'll throw you this? And I'm like, no. I've never done that because I'm not a money money hungry guy. My relationships cost me more than money. Like, it doesn't generally build these relationships as I've been out with you guys. You know, Boogie, Cardi, fifty, ASAP Rocky, Flo Rada, like, DaBaby. Just... These are people I generally talk to on a... Not daily, but weekly basis. So it's like, why would I ruin that over a couple dollars? Like, it means more to me than that because we go to eat together. We celebrate holidays together. So, like, people think it happened overnight.
- 10:51Like you said, the 50 thing, that didn't happen overnight. It's been over probably twelve years now, that relationship or more. Mean, you do in the arenas. You know what I mean?
- 10:59Obviously, we work at the same spot when it comes to radio, etcetera. And then when the whole song thing became... Was started, I know it was back when... What was the spot in Brooklyn? Did did the strip club and that when it started? It was it was it was Lust, but it was before that. It was Aiden's days. It was before Lust. Okay. It was Aiden's days. What year was that? I need a I need a year.
- 11:18Yo, bro. I'm gonna find it because it's on my YouTube channel.
- 11:22Camilo had did a drop for me. And I never forget this. I was mad. Was like, yo, star. I I can't go tonight.
- 11:27I got curfew. I gotta be home by ten. I know Camilo's not getting it till, like, one in the morning. I need a drop, and Camilo did it. I still have that video. I swear to god. And and he was like... It was it was Aiden days, and that's when I met Voila.
- 11:41And it was like that Jersey movement. You know, it was like Frosty had it... Enuff notes.
- 11:45Frosty had that shit on a bean. It was DJ Big O, Little Man, all those Jersey guys, Slink. Hit it to the beat.
- 11:52Hit it to the beat. Yeah. And then and then I was like, you know what?
- 11:57I was with Vinyls at the time, and I'll never forget this. We went as his mom's house in 178 before Washington up that way. And I was like, yo, V, Vinyls is a big producer now. Back then, it's like when we all started.
- 12:12And his... He had a... In his room, he had... You know that bunk bed, but there's no bed underneath?
- 12:18Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So the studio he had set up, he had was underneath that.
- 12:23That's fine. And we made... And that's when he made tap a beat to drill it.
- 12:27We made it that night. Okay. And then I had sent it... I had a relationship with Chris Green. That's when Red Cafe had a song in the hood and all those records then. And he put Red Cafe and L'Oreal on there, and I'll never forget that. Yeah.
- 12:41That's fine. L'Oreal.
- 12:45So so so real quick. Hold on. Let's backdraft it. So Vinyls.
- 12:49Right? That was your boy before, like, before he even made a hit record type shit. Right? If he'll tell you himself, Tabitha Driller was his first radio record ever played.
- 13:00Right. Oh, okay. That's amazing. Like like Yeah.
- 13:04That's fucking amazing because Vinyls became one of the hottest producers in the fucking game doing Sure. Soft for Drake. And then, you know, you guys... You could say you could start it out together. Correct? How did you guys meet?
- 13:16Damn. How did... I don't even remember how me and my... That's a good question.
- 13:21I I really don't remember how we met.
- 13:23That's the funny part. Oh, if I'm not mistaken, I could be wrong. And he's gonna get mad if I say it wrong.
- 13:30I don't wanna say it wrong. I think...
- 13:32I might have think we met through an artist, but I don't remember. But I forgot how about... We... It was definitely in Jersey and Hackensack, like, around that time when we met. But then we ended up living together.
- 13:41Like, that's my brother, and we talk every day. That's my dog. Vinyls is an amazing producer. He made some of the biggest hits in the past 10 centuries. So it's like Vinyls is one of the one of the ones.
- 13:52That's what's up. We love Shout to Vinyls.
- 13:55Okay. So the the the the record that I got is from 2010.
- 13:59Right? Okay. Right? Does this make any sense to you right here? Like, I don't know.
- 14:03Tap it. Look.
- 14:05Look to the right. Look. Wow. That was after tap it. That's a facto. Yeah.
- 14:10Wow. Tap tap it. Alright. I don't know how to play it. So what what year was tap it? Tappy. I have it in my laptop as o nine. O nine. Okay.
- 14:18Alright. O nine. Tappy was o... Yeah. You know what's crazy? And I've... I don't... Now that you're saying those... I graduated 2010, so I was in high school. Crazy.
- 14:26That's seventeen years ago, my boy. Yeah. 17.
- 14:28Goddamn.
- 14:30Damn. I might be a unk now.
- 14:32Yeah. Yeah. You unk you unk status, bro.
- 14:34Young unk, man.
- 14:36Oh, shit.
- 14:37Yo. That was a mistake coming on here because everybody gonna date you. You know, bro.
- 14:41But that fucking shit up. Right?... Long time.
- 14:43Nah. It's a little bit of a thing.
- 14:45I'm a y n g.
- 14:47You told me about it like it was yesterday. That's sick. I like how you said that. You're y n o g. I like that. You know why n o g. But you know what? But you know what? It's important because people have to understand. Right. Somebody will look at at you and think it's a overnight thing. Right. You have to understand that it didn't just happen in the last five years, six years, even the ten years.
- 15:03Right? We've been putting on music since, like, o eight, o nine. My first radio record, I was a I was a senior in high school that got played on radio. Like, that's crazy. So dope. Yeah. That's so dope.
- 15:12Crazy. Right? Who was the who was the first person to play your song on a radio?
- 15:18It was ProStyle. Oh, I found it. ProStyle.
- 15:20Nice. And that was what? Tap it? I will... I'll never forget. I was on I was on the... Tap it. Tap it. Tap it. Tap it. Tap it. It.
- 15:29I'll never forget.
- 15:31I always used to know when Camilo or Enuff was gonna play it because they used to play a Katy Perry record that came out that same year right before. I see.
- 15:38There you go. I think it might have been dark horse. I'm not mistaken because it was the same tempo, like one twenty eight. And I always remember, yo Shit. How they about to play? I'm like, how they about to play? They about to play? I always remember that. But I remember I was on I was on a basketball team on the school.
- 15:52We had an away game, and they had the radio on. And Prostar played it. Everybody looked at me like, that's your song on the radio. I'm like, wait. What? And then, you know, y'all... You that guy. You that guy. I'll never forget that moment. That was fire.
- 16:05Yo. This right here this right here is 2012. I'll see if you see... Guys see this. 2012. Yeah. Yeah. I had 97. The vest has $20.12.
- 16:13Okay. Wow. That's that's young young SpinKing grinding, man. I remember he used to hang on the DJ booth. Like, I I used to get on, after Enuff and before mister c. I stay
- 16:24on 07: 00, and SpinKing was just chilling there even I used to be there from, like, two to six.
- 16:29on 07: Yeah. Bodies, like, bodies back in the days of Hannesville was, a fucking party. Yeah. Was such a great time. It was a fucking movie. And, you know, I'm assuming you're just soaking it all up back then because, listen, in my era when I was coming up, I never got to hang out a radio station with the legends, mister c, you know, like, you know, you know, for you, you know, it was different. You know what saying?
- 16:50on 07: You got you. Enuff use of time to pull up. I'm like, what? To the radio station? I'm on my way. I used to take a train and a bus to get there. That's why that's why people sometimes don't get it when we talk to each other or amongst each other when we say, yo. Well deserved. You know what mean?
- 17:04on 07: You deserve it. Good for you. Because it's like, look. That's six... Goddamn.
- 17:08on 07: Sixteen years. So so let's talk about... A little about radio. So power one zero five.
- 17:14on 07: How did that happen? When did that happen?
- 17:17on 07: What were your thoughts?
- 17:18on 07: You know? Did you turn around to to to your brother? Because your brother kinda, like, manages you. Right? Did you turn around to No. Star... Yeah. Star doesn't... Star definitely doesn't manage to me. I don't leave my house without calling Star. I remember Prostar called me, and he said, have...
- 17:33on 07: Yo. Do you wanna do radio? And I'm like, yeah. Like, everybody's dream. As a DJ girl, I want to do radio. He was like, alright. Well...
- 17:40on 07: Yeah. And he was like, I'm a put you... We're gonna have a call with Dia.
- 17:44on 07: And then they were like, you're gonna do Friday nights midnight to two. And I'm like, yeah. I mean, that's perfect for me because I'm at the club that time, so people are gonna be on their way to the club listening to me anyway. So why not kill two birds and one stone? Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:57on 07: Then it came to the Sunday show, me and Nyla, ten to twelve, all new music.
- 18:03on 07: And then they gave me Saturdays, two to four in the morning, and then three times a month, I do Angie shows. So I was... It's just... I would never like... Even that, like, being interviewed by Angie Martina, even being interviewed by you guys, like, it's... I never would have thought that growing up that would happen. You know what saying? Like, it's a full circle moment.
- 18:19on 07: Like, I think it's just dope that you guys are still here, then I'm still here because this world is like... As you guys know, DJs, the club scene is not what it used to be. At all, bro. It's it's a whole different world. So it's like for us to still be relevant, it's kinda crazy because a lot of people aren't here that were here when I started.
- 18:37on 07: So listen. So so when you was coming up, who who were them guys, DJ wise, that he was like, yo. I wanna do a Us beat us. Come on.
- 18:46on 07: Us. No. No. He got his... You gotta let him answer. Like like No. No. No.
- 18:50on 07: Of course. It was it was Camilo. Favorites.
- 18:52on 07: Like It it was it was Camilo. It was Enuff.
- 18:55on 07: It was so it was different way because Camilo ain't...
- 18:59on 07: Yo, bro. I'm gonna give somebody his flowers, bro, because people don't, and he deserves it.
- 19:04on 07: I learned a lot from him as far as, like, somewhat marketing and the way he, like, promoted his page.
- 19:11on 07: Danny s.
- 19:12on 07: His Myspace at that time, he really had it on a beam. But...
- 19:18on 07: Yeah. He...
- 19:19on 07: Danny s... Yo, bro. I met Danny s playing two k, and then it was a whole different world. But, like, that Myspace era, he had it on him.
- 19:27on 07: Bro, I gotta... Like, even Yani, bro, the way... I remember Yani and and Elbow, the way he used to cut up the club.
- 19:32on 07: Like, Yani really gets busy. Like, Yani is one of the reasons that I, like, got into, like, that transition of, like, having house music with hip hop is because of Yani.
- 19:41on 07: Because his mashups, the way he used to just... So there's a lot of people that, like, play the influence in my life. Like, I took different things from different people. Like, the way Envy with the cards and the jewelry, even Raymo. Raymo had... Back then, Raymo had the toys back then.
- 19:56on 07: Yep. That nice baby blue Bentley.
- 19:58on 07: Yeah. Yeah, bro. Like, I I took I took a piece of everybody's DNA, then I just created myself, if that makes sense.
- 20:05on 07: No. Because... A lot of Heavy Hitter DJs on that list, by the way. By the way. But look. You you be... You put in the word...... Ingenious, Camilo.
- 20:13on 07: That's what I'm saying. You became a brand and, like, has that has that shown people like...... You... Boogs? No. No. No. No. No.
- 20:20on 07: I gotta I gotta say this because people don't give him his flowers, and it's the honest truth. There would be no club calendars and no cups if it wasn't for that man right there, mister Wallace, number A 100%.
- 20:32on 07: A 100%.
- 20:33on 07: I gotta say that. I gotta say that.
- 20:35on 07: And people don't understand. Because I see some DJs, they'd be like, oh, why am I gonna keep posting every month while I'm at blah blah blah. And why am I gonna keep buying cups? They're not saying that for that.
- 20:45on 07: You know how expensive these cups are to get? Fuck.
- 20:49on 07: Yeah. Yo. But wait. No. Wait. Let let me tap into the marketing. So so you feel like people have actually, this whole time, underestimated the power of the DJ?
- 20:58on 07: Because you guys all... We all individually are a brand. You know I mean? Like, have people underestimate the It comes it comes from marketing. Like like like Camilo with the calendars and the cut... He he created that.
- 21:09on 07: He started that. You know what saying? Nobody can ever take that away. Like, people don't...
- 21:12on 07: They they... You know, yes. It's expensive. Yes.
- 21:14on 07: It's a pain in the ass, but they don't see the long one. Like, some motherfuckers take these cups back home, and they have them in their kitchen.
- 21:21on 07: Have them in their barbecues. I have I have people that... Yo. He's not lying. There's people that, like, they keep it in their car. Like, yo. Damn. I ain't got the pink one. Can we get a pink one?
- 21:29on 07: And they just literally...
- 21:30on 07: They wash it and reuse it. They wash it and reuse It's crazy. Yeah. I'll tight.
- 21:35on 07: And listen. Like, I walk in a club, and I'm, like, I'm not shy of carrying my own shit and giving the shit out.
- 21:41on 07: Like, I'm not I'm a hands on dude.
- 21:43on 07: Always... I'm not too cool. Like... So a lot of times, I'm giving these cups out.
- 21:46on 07: Somebody grabs five. I'm like, what the fuck you're taking five for? That shit cost me...
- 21:50on 07: You know? Yo.
- 21:51on 07: Yo. You don't need five. You don't need one, bro. Right. You know? Because I wanna make sure everybody has them. You what a dollar plus a cup. You get 5,000 cups, that's 5,000 plus dollars. Negus don't understand that, bro. Yeah. They don't they don't get it.
- 22:03on 07: But but, know, that part...... Money. That comes part of the grind. And then when I see everybody doing cups, I just sit there and be like, you know what? I'm like...
- 22:11on 07: That I'm patting myself in the back, but it's like, damn. Know. But you you did that. That was a genius.
- 22:16on 07: Right. Right. Right. And and... Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, it's a beautiful... And I'm waiting I'm waiting for somebody else to do something so I could be like, you know what?
- 22:23on 07: I'm jumping on that. You know? And and and that's how you evolve. Like, that... That's how you evolve. Now listen. I got a question. I I I... Sorry to cut you off. Club.
- 22:34on 07: What was the first club you did that you sat there as DJ SpinKing and perhaps it was a huge room that was 3,000 people or just that one party that said, damn.
- 22:46on 07: Think it was... I think my first club was Adens in Jersey.
- 22:49on 07: Mhmm. Oh, okay.
- 22:51on 07: Mhmm. And then my first club in New York... What... My first club in New York was Duvet.
- 22:56on 07: Duvet. Yeah. Duvet. Wow. 21st Street. Wow. Because they they used to do the holiday parties down in the twenties, the holiday parties, and then there was the weekly right there on 32nd. What was the name of that little last spot?
- 23:07on 07: Retreat? At the DJ booth... Yeah. No. No.
- 23:10on 07: It's way more Retreat was crazy. That... It was, on thirty second by MSG. No.
- 23:15on 07: And then I think it was Duvet, and then it became, like, amnesia. Like, that's the one, like bed? Yeah.
- 23:22on 07: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You guys had the you guys had the good holiday parties, though. There was another club. I remember probably one of the first times I met you. It was a a club that your brother used to used to Elevate? Used to Yeah. Elevate. I don't even remember the name of it, bro. I think it was, like, in the twenties, but, like, on the upper...
- 23:38on 07: Like like, between 6 and Broadway, somewhere around there. I don't remember. It was like a room. Anyway, what I'm saying is that at the time, your brother was promoting it. And he hit me up. He was like, yo.
- 23:50on 07: I have my brother DJing tonight because I was supposed to DJ that night too. Was oh, my brother DJ tonight. I want you to come early so you can hear my brother play. Yo. Can you please come early, hear my brother play? So was like, I I was like, alright. Bet whatever. I'll pull up early. So I get there. I didn't know you was... It was gonna be a 15, 16, 17 year old kid playing. And I see young SpinKing going crazy. Now mind you, SpinKing was playing records. When you talk about playing records fast, there's a whole different type... Level of playing records fast. That's a fact. You playing like, yo, bro. No bullshit. Like, ten seconds of record. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. I was like, yo. So I don't know if you remember. I was like he was like he was like, yo, bro.
- 24:30on 07: How'd I do? Whatever. Whatever. And I was like, yo. You was... It was good, but you need to slow down just a little bit. Just a little bit. Just a little bit. But, I mean, even then, he...
- 24:41on 07: You had, like, the passion for it, and you wanted... I could tell right there the first time I mentioned, like, yo. This kid, he really wants to do this, and he's really gonna be continue working on it. Because you were, like, always, like, yo. What can I improve on with this, with that, with that? Meanwhile, I'm like, you already kinda got it, bro. There's nothing really you need to improve on. But to just to give to your your props and your personality and how you went about the game, like, when you say you soaked up stuff from other people, not only did he soak stuff up, but he actually went out searching for advice even when maybe you might not not needed it, but you were still like, yo. How do I do this? How do I do that?
- 25:13on 07: How... And, you know, that type of learning.
- 25:15on 07: One thing SpinKing always did was ask questions, which is Right. Right. A a great thing. I think some some teachers think they're too cool. Even the... That's what I was getting at. It's not even too cool. It's like some people like... And not just DJs, but in general, a lot of people usually go into games thinking that they know it all. You never know it all. Like, I still ask questions to this day. But to your credit, SpinKing was one of those people that would just... You... Was never afraid to ask a question. There was never a stupid question. Like, he'd always... To the point sometimes that you'd like, yo, here comes SpinKing with questions again. Right? But but to your credit... No. But... No. But, like, no bullshit. Like, to your credit, you know, it shows a lot as to where you are right now and, you know, and how and how far you've come. You know?
- 25:54on 07: Thank you. Unless... Because I like the time shit and not a long not a long time. Right? Because you got some sexual pretty early. Even back then, you know, you started when you say you were 16, 17. By the time he was 19, 20, he was already moving. Mhmm. Mhmm. Right? But that's a credit to putting it out there and learning and asking questions.
- 26:10on 07: No. Of course. And that's why I thank you. That's why, like, even me being in a station with you guys on those Fridays, like, I learned from Boogs, from Enuff, from mister c, from Kast, from Camilo.
- 26:21on 07: DJing on radio is not the club. You gotta...
- 26:24on 07: You can't talk fast. You can't talk like you're in the club. You can't yell. Like, I soaked that up. So when I finally got on radio years later, I'm not doing the same thing. You know what saying? Like, it's a different ballgame. You have to separate it. But I learned that from being around you guys at the station.
- 26:37on 07: If I never was up there, first day, I'd probably be like, yo. Tonight is going...
- 26:40on 07: Like, I would have been wilding on the on the on the radio the first day.
- 26:44on 07: Yo. Were were you were you nervous the first day on radio? Were you live? And were you, you know... Yeah. I was live.
- 26:50on 07: No. So I didn't I didn't get the show the first time. They asked me to come do Angie's show.
- 26:56on 07: And Angie's there. She's looking at me, and I'm looking at her. I'm like, this is Angie Martinez.
- 27:02on 07: And I never really met I never really met Angie with you guys over there. Because... Right. Yeah.
- 27:07on 07: It was something... Alright. The booth door was always open at hot, but that other studio room was always closed. And you're looking like, nah. I ain't gonna... Oh, I ain't trying to get yelled at, bro. I ain't supposed to be. I ain't going in there, bro.
- 27:17on 07: Like, I would never wanna open that door.
- 27:19on 07: I swear to god. I would go in the booth because Enuff would be there or Camilo would be there. That was good. That was good. You never did that. Smart move.
- 27:25on 07: Let me tell you let me tell you real quick. There's people that work there that wouldn't open that door. I just knew, like, I just knew, like Yeah. Nah.
- 27:36on 07: I ain't going in there, bro. I would just stay there. And and that's the thing.
- 27:40on 07: I I would would look look through through the the glass. Glass. I'm like, who's in here? But I never I never go in there, bro. No. The only person that ever bring me in there, because he used to sit in the corner, was mister c. C.
- 27:48on 07: Yeah. Yeah. That's the... Him and the him and the bible, that's the only reason I would go in there. Other than that, I'm on my business to sit outside. And, yo, Angie, for sure, was great at setting the tone. Like, bah. You respect this fucking space.
- 28:01on 07: Yeah. And everybody respected that space, bro. Facts.
- 28:04on 07: Yeah. But that first day Yeah. You're back to I've never ever in my life did a preset. That first day on on radio, I I preset, like, five songs. Because I was like, yo, I can't mess this up. This is live. I can't mess this up. A 100%.
- 28:19on 07: And then and then you I'll never forget my intro my intro Uh-huh. Was dope to me because I felt like my mom talking to me. She was proud of me. To me. He said to me. I spoke to myself. I played Sky the Limit, Biggie, my first record on radio that day. I remember that day. Good choice. That was a great choice.
- 28:37on 07: Yeah. That's... What year was that? I don't know. I remember that day. Again.
- 28:42on 07: Yeah.
- 28:42on 07: I don't remember that day of me of me or Angie.
- 28:45on 07: I was a bit of a goat. We're not doing this. We're not doing this. So we're not doing that. Oh, it's funny. I'm a find I'm a find it though. It's on... Because I've uploaded my SoundCloud mix, and it's like... It's a DJ SpinKing first time.
- 28:54on 07: Yeah. It's definitely on SoundCloud. Hey, yo, SpinKing, man.
- 28:56on 07: When when you get out of when you get out of New York and you hit these towns and you hit these arenas, does it does it get repetitive after a while?
- 29:03on 07: Does it... Or is it a brand new situation every time for you even though, you know, you go on these extensive, like, you know, date...
- 29:09on 07: Dated runs?
- 29:11on 07: Is it... Or just still like, yeah. Whatever.
- 29:12on 07: We're about to do this again. It is what it is. No. Because, like, last last night, I'm in Boston right now. Last night, I did a show with YG. That was dope.
- 29:19on 07: And then tonight, I'm doing, me and Young Thug is doing a club. Like, I like to see the different, like, places, but I definitely appreciate overseas more than The US because I feel overseas As mister Japan himself over there, Kast, will know, they appreciate hip hop way more overseas than they... They appreciate artists.
- 29:36on 07: Forget hip hop. Right. They appreciate artistry overseas way more than they do here for a 100000%.
- 29:42on 07: So I appreciate the energy they give. Like, when I DJed in Dubai, when we just did Ibiza, Spain, we did Pasha, and then we did, Italy.
- 29:51on 07: It's like, we were in Italy. We got out the airport with 50. There was 500 people stampeding the airport. I've never got stampeded in a while. It was insane.
- 29:58on 07: We get into Sprinters. They have the doors open, and there's fans trying to get in, and there's security jazzy Jeff and people out the Sprinters. Like, it's insane.
- 30:06on 07: That's fire.
- 30:09on 07: Fire. It's like 50... It's like Michael Jackson.
- 30:11on 07: Like, we're getting followed everywhere. It's... It was...
- 30:13on 07: Bro, it was a different surreal moment. So definitely overseas, I appreciate the energy way more.
- 30:17on 07: Also, you realize when you go overseas, there's artists that you'll never really hear of over here, but there was an artist. I forgot.
- 30:23on 07: Godier. His name, Godier. I don't if you guys ever heard of him. He's big in Italy. He sold out 60,000 people three days in a row by himself. Crazy.
- 30:32on 07: Like, overseas is... One... That's one place I never got to DJ, and I do. I'll be seeing Fat Fingers over there a lot.
- 30:37on 07: I'll be seeing Cash One always is over there before and now. But Japan, I know they love hip hop. Love it. Yeah. Japan is a great... It's great. Japan definitely... They they studied the culture.
- 30:48on 07: Even even, like, dancing and art and graffiti and... They study that shit, they they embrace it, man. I feel like they're part of the culture. Like, they they still be break dancing over there. And then and then SpinKing And I I read this. When they when they say, like, SpinKing, the new Tony Tudge, the new DJ Khaled for the new generation, you embrace that? You know, both of them paved the way. Like, even, you know, fat man school give him his credit. He was the artistry DJ.
- 31:14on 07: And then, like, the new age, like, that created it, God rest his soul, beat king.
- 31:18on 07: You have so many people, like, the the...
- 31:20on 07: Because that DJ artist thing could get tricky.
- 31:21on 07: You know what I'm saying? And especially music space now that I... Listen. The last time I put out a record was 2020.
- 31:28on 07: I was in the studio for the first time when I made this new record with Freddie Bop and the baby called B Go.
- 31:33on 07: And then I was like, music sucks right now. Let me sit back in the studio and make me wanna get... Like, that's what what made me get back in the studio.
- 31:39on 07: I think I think for sure hip hop in the past three years has been like, dope, man. Like, it's nothing exciting. Yeah. There's a hot record come out. Boom. But it's not an excitement, man. And and you're actually right. A 100%.
- 31:51on 07: And I even see on the Joe and Jada podcast when I was talking to Mario, they were like, what do you think they're missing from r and b? He was like, nigga, r and b. Like...
- 32:00on 07: Right.
- 32:01on 07: And then since we're on the topic of producers and DJs and music, I always... I'm always curious about this, especially people that make music. Like, what's the one song... Like, one...
- 32:10on 07: Give me one DJ song or producer song that you wish was your song. And you heard it, and you're like, damn. I wish I came up with that one. See? A DJ song?
- 32:18on 07: Yeah. Or a DJ... Because, you know, because you're in a... You're a DJ who makes records. So let's take just the DJs that make records, and you be like, yo. I wish I made that one. Oh, Diplo Justin Bieber, where are you now? Oh, wow.
- 32:32on 07: One of the biggest, most extreme records of all time? I would have to go with Khaled's win because that record... All we do is win? I mean, let... Think about it. That's that's a timeless fucking record. That that that would definitely be number two. Like... But my...
- 32:46on 07: Like, me personally, it's just... I'm just a fan of... I'm like... And that's my man.
- 32:50on 07: I spoke to him last week, but, like, though, I just... Like, Diplo is just like a, like, he's a motivation other, like, motivation DJ to me. Like, the way he moves and how he just so regular. Like, the way he does, and he's really, like, one the most paid DJs in the world. Like, it's crazy to me. Like... Yeah. He's the...
- 33:05on 07: Diplo's the best self.... Grounded, man. Like, he...
- 33:08on 07: He's mad humble, bro. He's mad humble, bro.
- 33:11on 07: Yep.
- 33:12on 07: Yep.
- 33:13on 07: Yeah. That's a fact. So so listen. It's safe to say here that timeless, SpinKing, a boogie is the biggest song you've you've done thus far. Is that safe to say?
- 33:24on 07: As far as, like, my biggest record or as far as most stream record, like, which one is it? I mean, that... I think that's Camilo's favorite record. That's what he's... That's he's saying. That's what that's that's why he's saying. I'm not gonna lie. Camilo... Yeah. Camilo...
- 33:35on 07: I mean, you guys all, but Camilo always...
- 33:36on 07: Every time... When I'm not there, Camilo always plays that record.
- 33:41on 07: But I've... Statistically, I think most streamed on Spotify, it's timeless.
- 33:49on 07: Most streamed on YouTube is the six nine Dottie record. And that... Shit. That was a big record. Yeah. Whenever Bro, I'm a be honest, sir.
- 33:58on 07: All four of y'all, bro, when... I remember that date. I remember, like, it was yesterday.
- 34:02I was at Vaca, which is now 04: 20, and that's when Timeless and Dottie was out.
- 34:08I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You couldn't tell me nothing.
- 34:12I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Them shit is both...
- 34:14I was at Vaca, which is now 04: They were both 94 b... They were both 94 BPM, and they were both charted on the hot 100 billboard at the same time. Yeah. Yeah.
- 34:22I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That was like, that was a whole surreal started. PP went to Robin. Yo. Oh, boy.
- 34:26I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That was that was a whole surreal moment.
- 34:28I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, having both those records on Billboard. They're the hottest records in the club. I don't know, like, what happened after that music. Well, I think it was a pandemic because that was, like, 2018, 2017. So so it was a pandemic that just died. And then I did drop a record in the pandemic. It was with OT Genesis and Favio. I got bitches, but then Favio, I got incarcerated.
- 34:47I was at Vaca, which is now 04: It was pandemic. I couldn't shoot a video.
- 34:49I was at Vaca, which is now 04: So I was like, man, forget this movie shit. I can't do nothing with it anyway.
- 34:52I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Now I go back. I'm like, I should've dropped because people aren't doing nothing else but listening to fucking music. Right. Right. Right. A 100%. How did how did the six nine how did six nine thing come up? Oh, man. We should leave six nine alone.... That.
- 35:04I was at Vaca, which is now 04: What are you talking about on? How did that song happen? I don't know this... I, like, I don't... I never heard you even talk about it. Like How the song happened?
- 35:11I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah.
- 35:12I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Me and Boy Wanda made the beat, and I was away, actually. I think I was in Miami or I might have been overseas.
- 35:19I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And he was supposed to have been do it, And then Star was like, yo. We're on the way to studio. And I'm like, oh, where? I'm like, I bet.
- 35:26I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I wake up the next day. I haven't even heard the freaking song yet. That snippet came out that he posted, and it went viral. I mean, at that time, anything can... They went viral.
- 35:37I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And then we shot the video, and that was that was that was when we had Lust. And the Lust... You guys all DJed in Lust. Y'all know Lust was on a thousand every Saturday, motion picture Saturdays on Fridays.
- 35:48I was at Vaca, which is now 04: But, yeah, that record right there, man, it was definitely one of the one. I think that was right timing. I think... Because at that time, man, you could you could do a set on six nine at the club, and it was Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? And that that that was perfect perfect timing for you. It was meant to happen, man. But, you know, to me to me, timeless is still the biggest record. But, yeah, timeless You can't play you can't play this... The the six nine record right now. You can't. No. You can't... But that's what I'm saying, though. Timeless, bro, we were just overseas in Ibiza in Spain, and DJ was playing them, he didn't know I was there. I was like, oh, that's fire. And it was like a like a house remix that they made. Right. Right. No. That's... So... Back... I'm I'm just happy to be back in the music space. I already have my next two records done after the one I just did.
- 36:32I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Me and Fetty just finished the video. The one with... Yo.
- 36:36I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah. It is. Baby. Make sure you go listen to that brand new SpinKing, the baby, Fetty Wap called Biko.
- 36:43I was at Vaca, which is now 04: We finally wrapped the video two days ago.
- 36:45I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Oh, man. For the video... It's about time.
- 36:46I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Let's go. Yeah. The video's coming out next week. DaBaby is one who directed it, then my brother...
- 36:52I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know who co directed it, Kast? I mean, Camilo?
- 36:56I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Loser.
- 36:57I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know what Oh, wow. Okay.
- 36:59I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah. My that's my day one. So the baby couldn't, you know, the schedule, and he had opened up his new restaurant. And then when he wants to get the video done, he's like, have your guy do it. And we mirrored it, and Luzah did the second part to it. Because you told us before in another con, would the the baby be shooting his own videos and all that. Right?
- 37:14I was at Vaca, which is now 04: He's the one who shot this one. Yeah.
- 37:16I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And the person who wants a co director with him was ASAP Rocky, but he had to go to Paris. So we didn't get to do that. But me and Rocky... So I'm not gonna say what songs are done, but I'll tell you who I'm working with.
- 37:27I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Okay. That sounds good. Tell us. Tell us.
- 37:30I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Me and Skillababy did a record. Me and me and Rocky is in the studio.
- 37:36I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Okay. Me and Cardi's in the studio.
- 37:39I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Oh. And...
- 37:41I was at Vaca, which is now 04: So you you... So so we eventually gain...
- 37:44I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know I mean? Like, a whole a whole album or EP or whatever? I'm a be honest. And I'm... The person I want the... I want to answer last because I I want his more opinion is enough. But then you guys go first.
- 37:57I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I want to go single for single and let one take off, and then I'll give a EP. But I'm not gonna drop a album just to drop a album. I just think it's not that time. What do you guys think? Nothing wrong with that one, brother.
- 38:08I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That's a great plan. Yeah. I like single for single. I think I think we're in a time right now that who gives fuck about a whole album. Don't want it.... Single.
- 38:16I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Go. Go. Just go. Drop a single. I'm a put you in the spot because during the pandemic during the pandemic, I pulled up on... We were playing at some spot. I forgot what it was. And he was outside, I pulled up, and he was like, yo. It was probably a laundromat or a garage.
- 38:30I was at Vaca, which is now 04: It was it was a strip club. Strip club. And you would... You told me that you had a record with Alpha. It never happened. I don't know if we had that conversation.
- 38:40I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And I'm like, yo. You know? And I never bought a record. The record I had with Alphah was the record...
- 38:46I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I think it got leaked recently, but there was the record with me. It was a record with me, Alphah, and pop smoke. That was my record.
- 38:55I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Damn. So what happened to that, bro? It never got to come out. There's a there's a interview in... Where L. Boogs is at in that computer, there is a hour and a half interview with me and Pop Smoke that never came out. So I have a question. When it comes to putting all these records together and all this music out, like, how difficult? Because I... I'm assuming this is one of the reasons it didn't come out.
- 39:14I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, how difficult is it navigating the whole business? It goes back to... I would imagine.
- 39:18I was at Vaca, which is now 04: It goes back to Enuff's slogan.
- 39:21I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I love music. I dislike the music industry.
- 39:24I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I can go get a I can go get a Jay z, Beyonce, Drake record tomorrow.
- 39:30I was at Vaca, which is now 04: If that label wants something that they didn't do, they're clearing that record. And what's the point of me putting it out? You know what I'm saying? So it's like... And the artist could be your best friend and still...
- 39:38I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And and most of these artists are. Know what I'm saying? Right. Like... And I'm gonna say this now. This is... My next record that comes out, it's either gonna be on my birthday or it's gonna be on Valentine's Day. And I think I might wait till Valentine's Day. But me and a boogie's... My next record is me and a boogie. Yeah.
- 39:53I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You got your time. Okay. I like that.
- 39:56I was at Vaca, which is now 04: The rec the rec is done. Yo. SpinKing is such a pimp. He said he's a Valentine's Day.
- 40:02I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I like that. But it's marketing. Come on, e. Why would I not jump on it?
- 40:05I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah. I know. I'm just saying I'm just saying it.
- 40:08I was at Vaca, which is now 04: As you should. As you should, my brother.
- 40:11I was at Vaca, which is now 04: But, yeah, that record's that record's done. I'll play it for you guys off air. The record's just fire. That's what saying. Is a little uptempo because I love a boogie and uptempo records, and I told you that before.
- 40:19I was at Vaca, which is now 04: It is... It it it is a uptempo sexy drill house record.
- 40:24I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Oh, that's good enough for me. I like that. Do you like... Do you... What do you like the best? Like, do you like putting two records together, having to deal with all of that? Do you enjoy the DJing part of it, the performance part of it, like going on stage and doing your thing, or actually putting a record together and putting out, like... All... Like all of it. I like being in the studio, seeing the creative process behind it. Like Right. That day that day that... I'm a... I'll never... It was...
- 40:46I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I mean, it was recently. It was a couple weeks ago. Because I'm not gonna lie.
- 40:49I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Since the Knicks one, me and Boogie been outside every day. I literally... We've... I've been coming home seven in the morning. But he hasn't been in studio, like, like, eight months, and then I had played it for him because the other person on it already did their part. They were like, yo. You gotta put Boogie. I'm like, damn. Boogie on. He's like, yeah, bro. I called Boogie. He's like, alright, bro. He's like, know, right now, the, you know, the Nick shit going on. So, like, when I get back in that mode, I'm like, alright. Cool. He called me one day. I was at Taboo.
- 41:13I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And he was like, yo. I'm in the studio. Send me that. I said, I'm sending you nothing. I said, where you at? He said, I'm at blah blah blah. I took a Uber. I went over there, loaded it up. He didn't write nothing down. I know Boogie is so talented. Like, I forget sometimes because you're so close to it. You forget how talented sometimes the artist is. Seeing him in that process, I'm like, no. This nigga's nice, bro.
- 41:33I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, what? Like, it was so dope. And then, yeah, the record's done. So we have to drop the video to this with the baby and Fetty, and then come with the next one, and then come with the one after that. That's what's up. Nice. Thank you. Good shit, SpinKing.
- 41:46I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Proud of you, king. We're all proud of you, my brother. You know I'm Keep doing this shit. You're around a lot of DJs. Obviously, you're playing clubs in and out like we all are, and you see up and coming DJs.
- 41:58I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I'm not gonna ask you, you know, who do you think is the next top, you know, guy coming up or who do you like? But I I wanna ask you, what advice do you see anybody coming up as a DJ that wanna be one of us? You know? You know, remember, Enuff used to run around with BIG, the biggest, legendary.
- 42:17I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know what I'm saying? That's right. You know, you're doing your thing. Kast One doing your thing. We all doing our thing. But what what advice you give to guys that wanna be in our shoes now? Because it's a different time. It's 2026.
- 42:28I was at Vaca, which is now 04: The world is moving differently.
- 42:29I was at Vaca, which is now 04: It definitely is. I say the... Because you say so many things. Right? So it's not like before, like...
- 42:35I was at Vaca, which is now 04: As there was no social media before. Like, you know, you'd be like, you you knew Enuff voice. You knew your voice. You knew the new at two. You knew Angie's voice because you hear it. You know what saying?
- 42:44I was at Vaca, which is now 04: There was no way to really, like, pause.
- 42:46I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I couldn't touch and feel Camilla. I couldn't touch and feel Angie. I couldn't see them.
- 42:50I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know I'm saying? I couldn't be around them. So being... If you were ever in their presence, like, damn. Like, that really meant more than it does now because people feel they're so close to everybody. You know what I'm saying? So I feel like in a sense of everything is so different now. Like, there's TikTok. There's Instagram. There's this. There's that. I'm a be honest.
- 43:09I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And I'm 32.
- 43:11I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I posted my first TikTok video this year.
- 43:15I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And I had to because the label made me do it for the record.
- 43:18I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I'm like, yo, bro. There's too many apps to keep up with. I just found out WhatsApp got a story mode. I never even knew that.
- 43:25I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah. So it's like, I started posting on that because I got people watching that that doesn't watch this. So what I'm saying to say this is that you gotta be on top of it. You, like, you gotta market yourself different. You gotta make sure people see you. Like, if everybody in the club wearing all black, you gotta wear a yellow T shirt and stand out. Like, you gotta do different things. You know what I'm saying? Like, I wish I continued that YouTube when I started it younger when I was on tour with Diggy. I wish I continued it because look how big YouTube is now.
- 43:48I was at Vaca, which is now 04: YouTube is key right now. It's a lot of things. Look. I'm just streaming.
- 43:54I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You're never gonna see me streaming. I'm letting you know where I cannot walk around with a camera on me all day. Never say never. Well, never say never. Never, dawg.
- 44:01I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I I mean, they cut that check. Yeah.
- 44:03I was at Vaca, which is now 04: We're going live.
- 44:05I was at Vaca, which is now 04: But it's just like... Enuff knows what I'm saying, though. It's just like, it's so much to do. So, like, as far as a DJ...
- 44:11I was at Vaca, which is now 04: So, like, they... You know, it's it's cliche.
- 44:13I was at Vaca, which is now 04: They say hard work beats talent when hard...
- 44:15I was at Vaca, which is now 04: When talent isn't working. It's just you gotta be that. You gotta kinda go back to, like, what Casper was saying. Like, you see, I kept asking questions. You gotta ask questions.
- 44:21I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You gotta be around. Like, I feel like the d days that have potential, it comes to the marketing. Like, what makes you... Everybody could play the top 10 records in the club. What makes you stand out from the guy next to you? What's gonna make Camilo be like, yo. You playing some shit before I got on. What is gonna make Camilo?
- 44:34I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You want Camilo to say that. You want Kast One to say that. You want Enuff to say that. You know, you want certain DJs to hear it. Like, that's why me, personally, if I can, I try to make it thirty minutes for my set? Because I wanna hear what the other person's playing, so make sure I don't play that. But I'm like, if we all playing the same shit, who gonna stand out? But one one And and being talented or being fucking nice on a set, unfortunately, doesn't cut it anymore. Mhmm. You know what I'm saying? No. It doesn't. And I'm gonna I'm gonna give him his flowers. Like, one one guy, I really do see a lot of potential in him because he market himself different. He pays attention, and he gets it. And he knows when to turn it on and off is Mega j, and Camilo knows that. Right.
- 45:12I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Right. Right.
- 45:13I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Another My Mega j, I have a lot of love and respect for him, and I see him going far away for sure. I just see... Like, I've been watching him closely. I got to know him through a good friend of mine, Casanova, in Miami. He came outside with me for, like, three days, and he was like, I've seen a different side of you. He came back to New York, and he's like, he's just a whole different person. I I... I'll... I... Like, if you ask me who I feel this person next from New York in general because he had he had doing his thing in D r Two, I'm gonna say Mega j right now for me. Yeah. He's definitely... Mega j gets me excited when he plays. I'll be like, 100%. And he he You can hear him clapping from the hallway.
- 45:51I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Oh my Yo. You can hear clapping from down the street.
- 45:53I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah.
- 45:54I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And any any hustles? That... That's the other thing, man. These... The guys coming up now, it's a fucking everyday grind.
- 46:00I was at Vaca, which is now 04: If you I wonder you have one hot video.
- 46:03I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That ain't cutting it, bro. You gotta do this shit every fucking day, bro. Be on video. He did a video for me on the back of a pickup truck. I shit got a million views, 8,000 comments, shit. This is... Yo, bro, it's crazy, bro. Yeah. That's marketing, Can't beat it. A 100%. You can't beat it. You can't beat it. And... Yeah. 100%.
- 46:20I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Advice. You gotta stand out. You gotta be you gotta be different. Like, he'd be in a club DJ and getting off the dance...
- 46:25I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And dancing with people in the crowd doing the soccer training with them, like, he's doing that. If I see anybody else doing that, they got it from him because he did that. I've never seen a DJ do that in my life. I've never seen a dancing DJ.
- 46:36I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That's that's a fact. That's a fuck. Nigga's doing a split in the club. Nobody doing that, bro.
- 46:41I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That's a fact.
- 46:44I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Listen, speaking. I've seen you at I've seen you at Club Pasha. Right? Oh, yeah. Probably the biggest club or venue space for for, like, for DJs.
- 46:57I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You was opening up for Cardi B. Correct?
- 47:00I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I got a call from GP and Cardi. They FaceTimed me, and they're like, what are you doing next... What are you doing in, like, three weeks on a Saturday?
- 47:08I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And then it's, like, myself, you know, obviously, Camilo, we book ourselves in advance. Like, our schedule is done, like, two, three months in advance.
- 47:16I was at Vaca, which is now 04: So I'm like, that day, I got three clubs. She was like, I need to do partial. No problem. Yo. I can't make it.
- 47:22I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yo. I can't make it. Yo. I can't make it. I call Eric Cuth, canceled everybody.
- 47:25I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I don't care what it is. She's like...
- 47:27I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And one thing about Cardi, I give her flowers. Like, I said this before. I'll say it again. She does so much for me behind the scenes that people don't know. Like, she has me DJing the Met Gala, like, doing things that I'm like... Things that, like, my parents know about.
- 47:40I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know what saying? Like, she put me in rooms that is like, yo, I gotta go get a tailored suit. Like, I can't just go looking like spanky. I gotta go put that shit on. So when she called me for Pasha, mind you, two weeks before, I just came from Pasha in Ibiza with fifty, but I wasn't DJing. I went to learn the game, watch what's going on, listen to the DJs, learn the music. Fast forward, I'm like, I call Starma, yo, bro.
- 48:02I was at Vaca, which is now 04: This is a surreal moment. Like, I'm about to DJ Pasha, and I just said, yo. It's a dream.
- 48:09I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I wanna do Pasha. It's not a Visa Pasha yet, but it's Pasha, nigga. No matter if Pasha and Guyana. If it's Pasha in New York, it's a big deal, bro. And it's a big deal because the in New York is bigger than the I'm like, I'm a tell you guys right now.
- 48:24I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I went straight to homework.
- 48:26I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I called EBAZ.
- 48:28I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I was like, yo, bro.
- 48:30I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I need a intro video. The Lamborghini spanking shit, that's cute. That's not gonna cut it for this crowd. We need to be clean.
- 48:35I was at Vaca, which is now 04: By the way by the way, Ebaz is a is a graphic designer for the people that don't know what he's talking about. He's the guy. He just he just put me as Michael Jackson dancing. I don't know why, but we'll... Whatever.
- 48:45I was at Vaca, which is now 04: So so I call him. I said, yo, bro. One thing about me, he about to tell you this, I'm very hands on with my, like, creative directory. Like, I send ideas. Like, I don't just... Like, yo, make me a flyer.
- 48:56I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I'm involved in my editing and my work.
- 48:59I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, I care about my visual. So I said, yo. I need to break through a wall. I need to have lasers coming on my eyes. I've seen a video impostor or some nigga, bro. And and you sent me the video. I'm like, yes. This is it.
- 49:10I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I I called Vinyls. I'm like, boom. I need to do a a intro. He's like, alright. What do you wanna do? I'm like, wait. I think I got a guy. I called Jaystar. Jaystar was like, yo, bro. I ain't gonna lie to you. I'm mad busy right now. Said, bet. You know what?
- 49:24I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I'm a do this shit myself.
- 49:26I was at Vaca, which is now 04: So then I get on my computer. I start editing. I'm like, I ended up making a hip hop intro. I'm like, this is not gonna be for that. So then Jay started lickin' with somebody in Florida, actually, a LMP DJ. And he... I sent him the edits of what to do. He put us together.
- 49:40I was at Vaca, which is now 04: My intro ended up synchronizing with the video on the screen, and the rest I downloaded music. I was listening to all music for, like, two weeks straight.
- 49:49I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And one guy I wanna give his flowers to is...
- 49:52I was at Vaca, which is now 04: He motivates me in that world is Hugo.
- 49:54I was at Vaca, which is now 04: He's having a phenomenal year run. He's killing it. I love his music. I love his...
- 49:59I was at Vaca, which is now 04: The way he's moving, everything. So Right. When I got to do that, I was just studying everybody's videos, Black Coffee, Hugo, the Santana brothers. It was Avicii just studying everybody, like, in the game. And it's just...
- 50:12I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And then I got to do it. They're like, yo, Spin. It's no mic. Said no mic. Bet.
- 50:20I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Then Same kid with no mic. What the fuck?
- 50:22I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yo. I was like, yo. This is fucking crazy. So then... But I I I was nervous.
- 50:28I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I haven't been at... The last time I was nervous before that was when I had to open for Cardi at Madison Square Garden.
- 50:32I was at Vaca, which is now 04: But I was able to do it, and it was a great... It was a surreal moment. It phenomenal. I had a ball. I'm not gonna lie to you. It was amazing.
- 50:38I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That's what's up. No. That's beautiful. And and and you mentioned it, but I'll add to that real quick. I thought it was so dope that when you ran with Cardi and you did the whole tour thing, she put you friends, son, and they ain't have you in the bag, DJ, you was friends. Cardi, when when she was the opening act. You were the opening act. When she hit me, she was like, I need you to come on tour. I'm like, sis, I ain't gonna lie. Like, I'll I'll fuck with you on, like, Boston, Connecticut, and all that. She's like, I bet.
- 51:01I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Whatever you could do. She made sure I was good, took care of me, like, anything I needed. She made sure my family, everybody, my friends was good.
- 51:08I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And even her team, shout out Cardi's team.
- 51:10I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, it's just a whole family, like, moment.
- 51:11I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know I'm saying? There's no haters. There's nothing like that involved. Everybody just gets along.
- 51:14I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And that's what matters because Enuff knows Enuff knows you could be cool with Biggie, but if this nigga's in his ear, damn, I don't really fuck with Enuff like that. Ain't even like... There's people like that that'd be around. But my friends and family, like, artistry friends, I don't have that involved, and I don't tolerate that. If it does happen, we nip it in the butt right then and there so it doesn't continue.
- 51:32I was at Vaca, which is now 04: But, yeah, Cardi had me... The DJ booth front center stage in front of Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center, TD Garden.
- 51:39I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And I I wasn't nervous till I got to them stairs and I have to walk up. I'm like, damn. I'm like, damn. About to...
- 51:48I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah. It's time. I can't even walk back down. They all looking at me like, a trick. Do a flip. Do something, nigga. I'm like, damn. Alright. Bet. No. You do your thing because I was there with you at that MG joint. You do your thing. But I can't find... I felt I felt like that when you when you hit, like, summer jam, you know, when they give you those...
- 52:03I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Back in the day, let's say, back in the day, they give you those four, five minutes of shine, and you're looking at that fucking crowd, and it's like they just stand there waiting.
- 52:14I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Yeah. But, like, even for me, my first surreal moment in that space, like, after I got older from when I was younger on the stadium arena thing was powerhouse.
- 52:22I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That first day I had to do that and I was spanking your friends and Thea gave me that that that light.
- 52:27I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I was like, yo, this is... Like, yo, you update like... It's it's... Them lights is different. It's not... Yeah.
- 52:34I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That's not in playroom lights. You heard them? Just dancing up there.
- 52:41I was at Vaca, which is now 04: And everybody just staring at you, and you got a you got a whole bilingual crowd.
- 52:45I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You got West Indians. You got white people.
- 52:47I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You got Africans.
- 52:48I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You got West... You got us Latino, Latina, I guess. And you gotta cater to everybody.
- 52:52I was at Vaca, which is now 04: That's a whole different kind of game. But I'm a break it down. I'm a tell you one thing, though. Like like like, you know, he was around taking notes back in the... Me, I would be on the sidelines looking at Enuff and looking at mister c fucking tear down a a... Like a Summer Jam, let's say, and I'll be like, holy shit.
- 53:09I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Oh, yeah. I've been to a few low key. I've been to a few Summer Jams low key back in the day. SpinKing.
- 53:14I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know I mean? We... I don't know what else, but what... What's next with the music and and then moving forward. Let us drop the... Let's on the...... Birthday. We already said, you know... Yeah. Yeah. Valentine's.
- 53:23I was at Vaca, which is now 04: My bad. My bad. We're dropping on Valentine.
- 53:25I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Let me do a recap. We got songs with ASAP. We got songs with Barty.
- 53:29I was at Vaca, which is now 04: We we... What else? We got songs with with with Flowrider.
- 53:32I was at Vaca, which is now 04: With Flowrider.
- 53:34I was at Vaca, which is now 04: I mean, we... You heard it here first.
- 53:36I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know what mean? I just wanna put that out there. Yeah. Just the the video, the b go. We're running that up. We're crazy on that. That's coming out either next week or depending on coloring and editing or the week after. DJ SpinKing featuring a baby, Fetty Wap produced by Boy Wonder, and, my boy Fierce. The next record's already done. I'm finishing the third record, and I'm just gonna pause and keep hitting him in the head.
- 53:55I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, it's just something gotta give and something gotta go because there's nothing...
- 53:59I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, what else I'm a do? I can't get... Not in a in a cocky way, but it's like, can't get bigger in the clubs in New York. Camilo can't get bigger in the clubs in New York. But Camilo been doing it for so long. He got 19 restaurants, 40,000 p... Things invested. He don't...
- 54:12I was at Vaca, which is now 04: He does it because he still likes it.
- 54:14I was at Vaca, which is now 04: You know what I'm saying? Like, still loves it. Love it. Love it. He still loves it. Yeah. Like, me, I still wanna... Like, I wanna tour the world. I wanna be on a headlines... I mean, I've toured overseas, but I wanna be, like, back again where it's like, this nigga's Spin sold out 10,000 by himself in Dubai.
- 54:30I was at Vaca, which is now 04: Like, I... That's my goal. Like, that's where I wanna go. So that's what I feel like my next gonna happen, my brother. It's gonna happen, bro. Don't worry. You're way. On up, yo. Yo. Word up. Come on now.
