- 0:01Hey, welcome to my new game. I see you found the tutorial.
- 0:04This is a great place to Start learning how to play.
- 0:07Let's go through the lessons and have some fun.
- 0:09Focus on the basics. You can always return for the
- 0:12more advanced lessons to practice.
- 0:15Tony Hawk's Pro Skater can take some time to master.
- 0:17Just like real life skateboarding, it takes
- 0:19practice. So if you fall, try again and
- 0:22good luck. Don't forget, if you ever want
- 0:24to retry a lesson or skip to a different one, use the Pause
- 0:27menu to open the lesson list. If you're having some trouble,
- 0:31check our assist features in the Pause menu.
- 0:33Think of them as training wheels while learning the game.
- 0:36In this lesson, we'll learn basic movement on the board,
- 0:39like turning and stopping. Skaters always move ahead
- 0:42automatically. There's no need to use the
- 0:44controller to move forward once you start skating.
- 0:47While skating, press left or right to turn.
- 0:50Use the left, stick or directional buttons.
- 0:53Hold the down button to stop. Skate through the markers in
- 0:56front of you to complete the lesson.
- 1:09Good job. Find the next tape to start the
- 1:12next lesson, or pick a new topic from the lesson list.
- 1:18In this lesson, we'll learn the basis of most tricks, the Ollie.
- 1:22This is the skating equivalent of a jump.
- 1:25While skating, hold down the Ollie button to Crouch and
- 1:27release to junk or Ollie. Crouch longer to gain speed and
- 1:31Ollie higher. Make sure you land a trip with
- 1:34your board facing forward or you'll bail.
- 1:36Try some ollies in the park to complete the lesson.
- 1:46Awesome. Stay here to practice more, try
- 1:56it again from the lesson list, or find the next tape to start
- 1:59the next lesson. In this lesson, we'll learn flip
- 2:11tricks. Catch air and then
- 2:13simultaneously tap the flip trick button plus any of the
- 2:16directional buttons to do a flip trick.
- 2:18Complete the flip trick before you land or you'll bail.
- 2:21Tapping the flip trick button plus different directional
- 2:23buttons will give you different tricks.
- 2:26Let's practice by doing a couple different flip tricks here.
- 2:29Remember to land tricks facing forward.
- 2:56That was sick. Run it again from the lesson
- 2:59list or find the next tape when you're ready.
- 3:21Let's learn about vert tricks. Vert ramps can be any surface
- 3:25that go from horizontal to vertical in a smooth curve.
- 3:28Hold and release the Ollie button at the top edge of a vert
- 3:31ramp to catch air off of it. The closer you are to the lip
- 3:34when you Ollie, the higher you'll go.
- 3:36Don't land sideways or you'll bail.
- 3:39Try catching air from a vert ramp.
- 4:28Here we'll learn the trick known as the Reaverts.
- 4:31Hit the Reaverts button immediately after Lonely.
- 4:33Back onto a ramp pool or half pipe to perform the move.
- 4:37You can use the revert to continue a combo when you land
- 4:39from vert. Reverts can only be done when
- 4:42landing back on a ramp from vert.
- 4:44If you press revert button while going up, you'll exit the vert.
- 4:48So try to revert just as you land back on the ramp.
- 4:51Try hitting some reverts to complete the lesson.
- 5:26Great tricks. Stay here to get it wired, move
- 5:29on to the next tape or select a lesson from the list.
- 5:41Here we'll learn how to get out of pools.
- 5:44Exit a pool by holding the up button while skating over the
- 5:47pool's lip. All in over the lip of the pool
- 5:50while holding the up button will also exit the pool.
- 5:53Ollieing over the lip of a ramp will cause you to jump over it.
- 5:56This will also allow you to go over verb ramps.
- 6:01Try to skate or Ollie out of the pool.
- 6:06Awesome. Stay here and practice more.
- 6:08Try it again from the lesson list or find the next tape to
- 6:11start the next lesson. Many goals in Tony Hawk's Pro
- 6:22Skater involved catching big air.
- 6:24In this lesson, we'll learn about ways to get more distance
- 6:26off the ground. Tap the up button just before an
- 6:29Ollie to do a No Comply. You'll get slightly more air
- 6:32than a typical Ollie. Double tap the up button just
- 6:35before an Ollie to do a Boneless.
- 6:37This gives you even more air. Try to No Comply or Boneless and
- 6:41see just how high you can get. Awesome.
- 7:04If you need more air, collect stat points throughout the game
- 7:07to get even more of a boost. Check out the next lesson or
- 7:10keep practicing. In this lesson, we'll learn grab
- 7:33tricks, Catch air, and then simultaneously tap the grab
- 7:37trick button plus any directional button to perform a
- 7:39grab trick. Holding the grab trick button
- 7:42longer will tweak the grab trick for more points.
- 7:45Different directional buttons equal different grabs.
- 7:49Let go of the trick before you land or you'll bail.
- 7:52Try a couple grab tricks to complete the lesson.
- 8:21Great tricks. Stay here to get it wired, move
- 8:25on to the next tape or select a lesson from the list.
- 8:45Let's learn how to do grind tricks.
- 8:47You can grind rails, sharp edges, and even the top of a
- 8:50vert ramp, also called coping. To do a grind trick, Ollie
- 8:54towards an edge or rail and hit the grind button while in the
- 8:57air to land a grind trick on that edge or rail.
- 9:00Depending on your angle of approach as well as the
- 9:02different directional buttons you can hit, you can do
- 9:04different grinds. Tap the left and right buttons
- 9:07to keep your balance while grinding.
- 9:09If the balance meter goes too far off to one side, you'll slip
- 9:12off and fall. Find a rail edge or vert ramp to
- 9:15grind it. That was sick.
- 9:27Run it again from the lesson list or find the next tape when
- 9:30you're ready. Here we'll learn how to manual.
- 9:43Manuals are great for increasing the length of your combos, which
- 9:46we'll get to later. Tap up and down buttons to
- 9:49manual or down up buttons to nose manual When skating or
- 9:53landing. Tap up and down buttons to keep
- 9:56your balance well manually. Just like grind tricks, if the
- 9:59balance meter goes too far to one end, you'll fall.
- 10:02You can hit the Ollie button to Ollie out of a manual.
- 10:05Let's see you try a few manuals to get a feel for it.
- 10:22Good job, find the next tape to start the next lesson or pick a
- 10:26new topic for the lesson list. Let's learn how to do a lip
- 10:50trick. Perform lip tricks by skating
- 10:53straight to the lip of a ramp while holding the grind trick
- 10:55button. You need to be perpendicular to
- 10:58the lip to perform a lip trick. Use the left and right buttons
- 11:01to balance while in a lip trick. Just like the grind and manual
- 11:04tricks. Either Ollie or lean back into
- 11:07the ramp to land a lip trick. Different directional buttons
- 11:11plus the grind trick button give you different lip tricks.
- 11:13Skate up a ramp while holding the grind trick button to try a
- 11:17lip trick. Awesome.
- 11:37Stay here, practice more, try it again from the lesson list, or
- 11:41find the next tape to start the next lesson.
- 12:11Let's learn about the three different types of vert
- 12:13transfers, spine transfers, hip transfers, and acid drops.
- 12:17When two vert ramps are connected back-to-back,
- 12:19transferring from one to another is called a spine transfer.
- 12:22When transferring between two vert walls connected at the
- 12:25corner, it's called a hip transfer.
- 12:27Transferring from the air into a vert wall is called an acid
- 12:29drop. All three of these tricks can be
- 12:32performed by pressing the reverb button while in the air.
- 12:35Try a few transfers off the vert ramp.
- 12:47Nice transfers. Grab the next tape or pick a
- 12:50lesson from the list when you're ready.
- 13:01In this lesson, we'll learn how to quick turn.
- 13:03Quick turning is a way to immediately turn around while on
- 13:06the ground. This allows you to quickly get
- 13:08back to something you might have missed.
- 13:10Double tap the down button, then press the rotate right button,
- 13:13all in quick succession. Try a few quick turns.
- 13:22Awesome. Keep practicing or head to the
- 13:24next lesson. Here we'll learn how to wall
- 13:38ride and Wally skate at an angle up to a wall Ollie and then hit
- 13:43the grind button to wall ride Ollie while wall riding to jump
- 13:46off the wall. This is a great way to gain more
- 13:49height to access new areas. Find a good wall and try wall
- 13:53riding across it. Great tricks.
- 14:15Stay here to get it wired. Move on to the next tape or
- 14:19select a lesson from the list. In this lesson, we'll learn
- 14:24about wall plants, a way to continue a combo by pushing off
- 14:27the wall. This trick uses walls like a
- 14:29wall ride, but instead of approaching at an angle, you
- 14:32skate straight at the wall, Ollie towards the wall, then tap
- 14:36the Ollie button just before making contact to wall plant off
- 14:39of it. Try a few wall plants to get a
- 14:41feel for the timing. Sick.
- 15:13Your combo won't be hitting the wall much longer?
- 15:15Skate to the next tape. Pick a lesson or keep
- 15:18practicing. This lesson will teach you the
- 15:30basics of sketching, which involves grabbing onto the back
- 15:32of a car to ride alongside of it.
- 15:35Hold the up button while near the back of a vehicle to start
- 15:37sketching. Tap left and right to balance
- 15:40while holding onto the car. Tap down to release the sketch,
- 15:43gaining a speed boost in the process.
- 15:45You can revert during this release.
- 15:47To preserve your combo, try sketching the car in front of
- 15:50you. Well done.
- 16:55You can also Ollie out of the sketch, extending your combo
- 16:58with the manual or grind sketch over to the next tape.
- 17:01Pick a lesson or grab some practice.
- 17:17Gaps are hidden trick areas that give extra bonus points to your
- 17:20combo. For each type of trick, there's
- 17:22a gap type for it. Gaps come in all shapes and
- 17:25sizes, so keep an eye out for interesting terrain.
- 17:28It might be a gap all the off the ramp ahead.
- 17:30Air over the railing and land on the ramp to the right of the
- 17:33railing to complete the Pier 39 transfer gap.
- 17:45That was sick. Run it again from the lesson
- 17:48list or find the next tape when you're ready.
- 17:54The pinnacle moves of your skater are their special tricks,
- 17:57and they can only be done at special times.
- 18:00Let's learn about them here. Quickly scoring points fills the
- 18:03special meter When it's full, your adrenaline is pumping.
- 18:07You can jump higher, skate faster, and perform special
- 18:10tricks when the meter is glowing.
- 18:12Try tapping multiple directional buttons, then the Flip, trick,
- 18:15Grab or grind button to find a special trick.
- 18:18These are worth huge points. To see what moves are available
- 18:21for your skater, open up the skater menu and find their
- 18:23specials. Everybody has their own
- 18:25signature moves. Which one can you pull off?
- 18:29Pull the tricks you've learned so far to fill your special
- 18:31meter. These can be grabs, flips, or
- 18:33grinds. Then tap 2 directional buttons
- 18:36and the trick button to pull off a special.
- 18:48In the shadow.
