- 0:00You're listening to Strictly Business Podcast with Lindsay Williams.
- 0:05The JC has closed its doors for another day, so it's time for the 5 o'clock
- 0:08shadow.
- 0:08And as always, on a Wednesday, I speak to Skulk Lowe,
- 0:12Portfolio Manager at PSG Wealth Old Oak in Cape Town.
- 0:16Skulk, I've got a technical problem.
- 0:19Okay, it's with my screen because I'm just getting prices ready and everything.
- 0:23And I've got the all share at nearly 111,000.
- 0:26That's obviously wrong.
- 0:28Can't be.
- 0:29Gold, no, it can't be.
- 0:30Gold price, 4,044 at 1.5%.
- 0:34No, that's wrong as well.
- 0:36Goodness me, and I pay these people for this.
- 0:38And silver, about $49 an ounce.
- 0:41The copper price has gone through $5 a pound, and quite significantly so as well.
- 0:46Hey, I don't know why they mess me around.
- 0:48But anyway, we can chat about other things.
- 0:51I mean, come on, Scott, this is good fun, isn't it?
- 0:53Yeah, it is.
- 0:53Let's not talk about...
- 0:56Stav, your screens are clearly doubling up because if gold is showing $4,000 per
- 1:02ounce,
- 1:02surely it must be around about $2,000.
- 1:04I'm not sure.
- 1:05I haven't looked at my screens for many, many...
- 1:08Yes, that's the case, man.
- 1:10It's doubled in two years.
- 1:11It's quadrupled in 10 years.
- 1:15As a person said once to me, he had a great saying.
- 1:18It was when the Ukrainian, or Russian nuclear plant like Chernobyl.
- 1:25blew up and this great cloud went across the the wheat growing plains of of europe
- 1:32and you couldn't get
- 1:34into you couldn't get into the chicago board of trade to buy any wheat futures
- 1:38because they were limit
- 1:40up and then when they reopened they went living up again so you would buy any food
- 1:45that was on the board i.e sugar
- 1:47for example and i said to my boss i said sugar's not limit limit up He said, it's a
- 1:52food, get it bought.
- 1:55You can stick it in your mouth and swallow it.
- 1:56There we go.
- 1:59It's like gold's a food.
- 2:00So that's where the saying comes from.
- 2:02It's a food.
- 2:03You've got to buy it.
- 2:04That's what people are saying.
- 2:07No, it is.
- 2:09I mean, literally, the precious metals run.
- 2:15I mean, we haven't seen this in decades.
- 2:20And just an interesting factoid.
- 2:21I mean, I don't know if you...
- 2:24But up to yesterday,
- 2:26the JSE has basically grown by 33.7%.
- 2:32That's just for 2025 alone.
- 2:34This is from the 1st of January up to now.
- 2:37If you didn't have any gold counters, and just for fun, I included
- 2:44Sabania Stillwater.
- 2:45I know Sabania Stillwater.
- 2:47It's not a pure gold mine.
- 2:50And the actual fact it went up from, I think it's...
- 2:52generated about let's call it 12
- 2:5512 percent yeah between 10 and 12 percent out of gold that was about two three years
- 3:02ago and is now well
- 3:04well over 50 so it is predominantly earning most of its profits out of out of
- 3:08its gold's operation so i'm going to include it
- 3:10so that gives us six counters on the jsu if you if
- 3:13you did not have any of those if you didn't have any of those six counters in
- 3:18your portfolio.
- 3:20you wouldn't have seen a 33.7% increase in your portfolio,
- 3:25but only 18.9%.
- 3:28So just for fun again, I… So nearly half has been attributable to gold counters.
- 3:33Exactly.
- 3:34Essentially is what you're saying.
- 3:36Out of six counters, exactly.
- 3:39And then I just added the three.
- 3:41It's got a pure PGM counters as well, the Impala, Volterra, Northern Platinum.
- 3:46I included them as well.
- 3:48So now it brings us to nine counters on the JSE.
- 3:52If you exclude them out of the JSE, then your performances would have only been 15%
- 3:59year to date.
- 4:01So now we're going towards the 40% of your performances.
- 4:05You probably would have had 40% of the performances.
- 4:07So somebody on X, on social media, said, well, do me a favor,
- 4:13just exclude NASPAS and Prozis as well.
- 4:16Yeah.
- 4:17That's a good one.
- 4:18That's 11 stocks.
- 4:20Well, there goes another 8% of your performances, and you would have been left
- 4:25with 7%.
- 4:27So did you not have any of those seven counters in your portfolio?
- 4:30Your performance year-to-date would have been 7%
- 4:33exactly versus close to 34%, including those 11.
- 4:39The same sort of thing that's going on with it's not quite as exaggerated on the
- 4:45S&P 500 with NVIDIA and all those other ones.
- 4:47but it is phenomenal over there as well.
- 4:49And I'm not saying it's scary because it teaches you a lesson, I suppose,
- 4:55but it does show you the breadth of the JSC is simply not there.
- 5:00No, it's definitely.
- 5:05We talked about the Magnificent Seven.
- 5:08Well, I think we've got the Magnificent Seven on our side as well.
- 5:12Let's call it Magnificent Eleven.
- 5:15I'll come up with a phrase.
- 5:18That's a bit worrying.
- 5:19I mean, happy to have them in my portfolios and to be in early.
- 5:25But, I mean, also worrying because...
- 5:29What do we call it in cycling?
- 5:30After every uphill there's a downhill.
- 5:33So I'm worried.
- 5:37But I mean, like somebody asked me, one of my clients called me up this morning and
- 5:43he said, well, Scott, you know, well done.
- 5:45I mean, I'm really happy with this performances.
- 5:47But what do we do now?
- 5:50I mean, something that can go up as much as it did.
- 5:54I mean, speaking, you know, towards the gold prize itself.
- 5:58I mean, we can see a retracement again just as easy.
- 6:02And my short answer to his question was, I don't think so,
- 6:07because the business thesis for the reason why gold is running upwards is still very
- 6:12much in play.
- 6:14And just for interest, you and I had this conversation, I think three or four weeks
- 6:16ago,
- 6:16I told you that Goldman Sachs came out with a report where they actually
- 6:24said they were crazy.
- 6:25I mean, Lindsay, this is...
- 6:27way off, I don't know if you remember it,
- 6:29they were crazy to come out and say the gold price will reach $4,000 per ounce,
- 6:35you know,
- 6:37by the first quarter of next year.
- 6:39And everybody was saying, oh man, what are they smoking?
- 6:39I mean, we've reached it.
- 6:41So they've updated the report yesterday, basically saying that they've, you know,
- 6:48$4,000 done and dusted.
- 6:50They're now calling the gold price...
- 6:51By year end next year, so December 2026,
- 6:55they call in the gold price at $4,900 per ounce.
- 6:59That's the new report that was released.
- 7:00$4,900 did you say?
- 7:02What did you say?
- 7:03$4,900 per ounce.
- 7:07For goodness sake, for $100, let's call it $5,000 Goldman Sachs.
- 7:11Don't be stingy, for goodness sake.
- 7:13When they say that, then you know it's time to put in some protection here,
- 7:16Skullcum.
- 7:17That's what I was going to say.
- 7:18That's what I'm saying.
- 7:19For the client that phones you up and says, what should we do here?
- 7:23You're in love with these shares.
- 7:24They're part of the family now.
- 7:26So get a big block of put options.
- 7:28You can't sell the calls to fund the puts because you'll get blown out the water
- 7:35if there's a melt up and you're going to have to buy back those calls and it'll be
- 7:39messy.
- 7:40Just buy some seriously cheap out the money puts.
- 7:43And when they expire, just keep rolling them over with your profits.
- 7:48And just in case, because those out-the-money puts for a $100 fall or a
- 7:55$200 fall in the gold price,
- 7:57which would still mean it was a bull market, that move will triple the value of
- 8:01those things, I would have thought.
- 8:03You're cleverer than me on these matters.
- 8:04No, you're 100% right.
- 8:06You are 100% right.
- 8:07But, I mean, so that's the structure in me.
- 8:11I think that that might not be a bad idea, you know, way out of the money.
- 8:17But I mean, let's look at the question of this gentleman and the answer.
- 8:24My answer was, I mean,
- 8:26so let's again say that the gold price do retrace again and go back to way down
- 8:33at $3,500.
- 8:37None of these six mines that I just mentioned are mining gold for over $2,000
- 8:43per
- 8:45ounce.
- 8:47So as it currently stands...
- 8:49They're making a huge amount of profit.
- 8:50Every single day they're mining these gold or yellow metals.
- 8:55I mean, they're making massive, massive amount of profits, huge amount of free
- 9:02cash flow, and they've got zero,
- 9:04zero debt on the balance sheet.
- 9:06You and I, we've got a few grey ears.
- 9:08We know that gold miners have never, ever been in such a healthy position, ever.
- 9:13We've never seen gold miners sitting with zero debt on their balance sheet.
- 9:17And, of course, and they're raking it in every second that we look at our screen
- 9:21now.
- 9:21And I've got 4046.39 up one and a half percent.
- 9:26They say to themselves, well, let's just sit down again, chaps, because I don't
- 9:30quite believe these numbers.
- 9:32It costs us 1600 all in to get this out of the ground.
- 9:35Sixteen hundred dollars an ounce.
- 9:38The round is nice and strong and everything.
- 9:40So all this stuff we're importing.
- 9:42to keep the mines going.
- 9:43That's cheaper than it was last year.
- 9:45And they go through all these things.
- 9:46They're saying, yeah, our margins are X. I mean, 4,000 minus 1,600,
- 9:52and that's a high number for some mines I know there.
- 9:54A margin scale.
- 9:56They made a big calculator.
- 9:57Whopping, whopping amounts of money.
- 9:59They won't know what to do with it.
- 10:02Yeah, and that's my point.
- 10:05I mean, you've already had the likes of Harmony coming out and saying, well,
- 10:08we're not finding any opportunities in the gold market.
- 10:13But, I mean, we do think copper is yellow enough.
- 10:18Let's go and buy some copper mines.
- 10:21I'm joking about this, but it's difficult.
- 10:24But they did.
- 10:25And so most of these mines are going to look at this and say, well, we're not
- 10:31finding opportunities.
- 10:33communities,
- 10:35we need to start giving this money back.
- 10:37Special divs coming up.
- 10:38There we go.
- 10:40Suddenly you're going to start hearing the noises of special dividends,
- 10:46larger dividends going forward.
- 10:48I mean, again, this is gold mines, Lindsay.
- 10:51Come on.
- 10:51I mean, we've never, ever seen this.
- 10:53When has this ever happened where there's so much cash sloshing around that they
- 10:58have to say, oh, right,
- 11:00then special dividend in the next quarter or the next half year or something.
- 11:02No, I've never heard of it ever since from the time that I went to South Africa to
- 11:08now, and I really got the gold bug.
- 11:10I've never seen that before.
- 11:12Yeah.
- 11:14No, and I think just to bring it back to the local economy, I mean, this is
- 11:19definitely going to help South Africa,
- 11:21help the economic position.
- 11:21I mean, we're the eighth largest gold producer in the world.
- 11:26We've mentioned that...
- 11:27The PGMs are having a field day.
- 11:30I mean, look at the I mean,
- 11:33one of my colleagues this morning showed me the graph of palladium,
- 11:38and palladium is really looking quite juicy technically now.
- 11:42It's good.
- 11:43So it had a bit of a recovery now, formed a very, very nice base.
- 11:46I mean, I must compliment you on both platinum and palladium.
- 11:50You called that support, that strong support, and now it's looking Looking s-
- 11:56really juicy.
- 11:58So we're the second largest palladium producer in the world, largest platinum
- 12:04producer, largest rhodium producer.
- 12:06If we just do a few small things right over the next year or
- 12:11two, South Africa can really, and when I talk about South Africa, I'm talking about
- 12:15the South African economy,
- 12:17could really take advantage out of this environment.
- 12:20Very good.
- 12:21Let's just stay with mining just for a moment Anglo-American came out with a
- 12:28statement regarding text their operational review an
- 12:30updated outlook market seems to like that although it's a buoyant market anyway
- 12:35because of things that they dig out the ground but
- 12:37anyway 1.4 percent higher for Anglo-American.
- 12:38First round came out with a voluntary update today Skunk and with all the
- 12:45excitement elsewhere didn't look so good or rather the market
- 12:47didn't think it looks so good.
- 12:49Did you Have a look at it.
- 12:51A very quick look, Lindsay Sark.
- 12:53I couldn't read it.
- 12:55It's still got to do with this financial conduct.
- 12:57There's this whole issue that they had recently.
- 13:01UK motor problem, wasn't it?
- 13:04There we go.
- 13:04And it's...
- 13:05The commission matter.
- 13:06Yes, it's been settled by the government,
- 13:09and they've got to pay back these companies that did something naughty when
- 13:15they were selling cars to people.
- 13:17And the first round was involved in that.
- 13:18I think they've got to pay back each person 700 pounds.
- 13:20It amounts to about 14 billion across the UK.
- 13:25But obviously, First Rand involved or a division of First Rand involved.
- 13:29And that's what's leaning on it a bit.
- 13:30So once that's out the way, not too much to worry about.
- 13:33But I had to mention that.
- 13:34Anything else you saw on the JSC today?
- 13:38Besides all these.
- 13:40So what we've seen, I think, NEARS this morning is also the IPO of this.
- 13:47Optasia, don't ask me a lot about the company.
- 13:51This is a… What's Optasia?
- 13:53It sounds like a Disney film.
- 13:55Yeah.
- 13:55I mean, I think the most important point for me is most probably the fact that
- 14:02we're seeing
- 14:04another listing.
- 14:06That's good.
- 14:08That's good.
- 14:10We've seen a few companies delist and move away from the company.
- 14:12And it's not going to be a small listing.
- 14:14I mean, they… The total capital they're looking to raise is eventually going to be
- 14:17at 6.3 billion rand.
- 14:19So public offer now is going to be 1.3 billion, and then there's going to be a
- 14:23private placement of 5 billion.
- 14:25So 6.3 billion is not a small company, so it had my attention.
- 14:29So they mentioned the company is an AI fintech company,
- 14:34so they've got all the right buzzwords.
- 14:36And this is a very interesting business model.
- 14:39I mean, they use AI.
- 14:42It's a company that uses AI and I talk about an extra 5,000 data points
- 14:49to basically access and use AI to look at the creditworthiness of clients.
- 14:57And they predominantly focus on microloans, airtime credit,
- 15:05cash advances, primary for mobile operators.
- 15:10I've got clients like...
- 15:12They partner with MTN and Vodacom.
- 15:14So it's a very interesting business model.
- 15:19And then it had me dig a little bit deeper.
- 15:22So there's a company, EPE Capital Partners, where ETH is Capital Exposure
- 15:29Capital Partners.
- 15:31And this is also a holding company.
- 15:33And I don't want to say it's the likes of a RemGrow,
- 15:37because then some people might take offense and say it's nothing like a
- 15:41RemGrow.
- 15:42But it's also a company that invests in a few companies.
- 15:46And one of these companies, Pretty much 51%
- 15:48of its NAV is made up out of this Octavia.
- 15:53So I get a feeling that this is sort of this EPE Capital Partners opportunity to
- 16:00cash
- 16:00in a bit, but we'll still see what happens.
- 16:04But to the listeners out there that say, well, I know the company.
- 16:11Octasia sounds really good.
- 16:14I mean.
- 16:15maybe look at applying for the IPO, could maybe consider buying this EPE
- 16:21Capital Partners listed on the JSE.
- 16:23That's an interesting sort of lateral thinking there.
- 16:28Correct.
- 16:29Very good.
- 16:29Okay.
- 16:31So EPE Capital Partners.
- 16:33When does this new Disney film list?
- 16:36That's a good one.
- 16:40Oxtasia, when is it coming out?
- 16:44and unfortunately do not have a data.
- 16:46They talk about...
- 16:47I've got no idea when the data's out.
- 16:51I'm trying to look at it.
- 16:51But it's a definite IPO.
- 16:53It's coming to the JSC.
- 16:56They're talking about South Africa's biggest RP in a year.
- 17:01Most probably still this year.
- 17:03But just back to EPE Cattle Path.
- 17:07It's trading at about 7 rand a share.
- 17:09The net asset value of this company, if you add all these
- 17:12these optasias and all the companies they own is worth about 8.57 so they're trading
- 17:19at a 18 percent
- 17:21discount to nav not as juicy as as the 40 percent uh rim grows trading but here's an
- 17:26interesting one and and mike i caught a
- 17:29company inside the portfolio another company that's been been in the news let's
- 17:36call the past two years
- 17:38is is a possible listing of time bank and Just for interest's sake,
- 17:43EPE Capital Partners, one of the companies that they own is also Time Bank.
- 17:48So it's not only this Disney movie.
- 17:51I'm always going to look at this company now.
- 17:54Yeah, I know you will.
- 17:55It's very bad.
- 17:56We'll get into trouble if we keep on saying that arrival.
- 17:58I just took my pencil at the thought of that.
- 18:01Skulk, tell me about Time again because there's a book just been released, I
- 18:06believe, which is co-authored by
- 18:08Bruce Whitfield and...
- 18:09And...
- 18:10Gosh, I can't, Neville, not Neville.
- 18:12Adrian Saville.
- 18:13Adrian Saville, that's it, yes, yes, yes.
- 18:15And it's all about that.
- 18:18Who's behind that again?
- 18:20Some serious people.
- 18:22Yeah, it's got the right names behind it.
- 18:27I'm going to make it injustice if I, but I'm talking about really, really big,
- 18:35big names.
- 18:36that we can't think of at the moment.
- 18:38I can't mention any one of them.
- 18:40Exactly.
- 18:42I'm sure it's one of the first-round people, ex-first-round people that are
- 18:47doing it.
- 18:47I'm sure it is.
- 18:48Yes, it's Michael Yordan, if I'm not mistaken.
- 18:51Yes, that's it.
- 18:52I'm going to Google this now because I think it is beloved.
- 18:57I think it's Michael Yordan.
- 18:59And then they partnered up with the African Rainbow guys.
- 19:02Let me just quickly just confirm that.
- 19:05Yes, there we go.
- 19:06Kies shareholders is African Rainbow Minerals, African Rainbow Capital.
- 19:11Yes.
- 19:12And that's
- 19:13Patrice Mutsepe and what's that person that was involved with Sun Lama and he
- 19:19moved away from
- 19:20Sun Lama as well.
- 19:21But also, I'm 99% sure that
- 19:27Michael Goddard has also got some.
- 19:29some involvement there.
- 19:30But anyway, some people that know what they're doing.
- 19:32And is it a confirmed listing or just one of those vicious rumors?
- 19:37No, it's a time, time.
- 19:39No, a time bank has always been a vicious rumor.
- 19:42There was a rumor that it would actually list before the, before the year end.
- 19:48But that's, that eventually where we sort of said, no, they don't need to, to list
- 19:52this company.
- 19:54And, but there's always been every now and then it picks up that there's a, there's a
- 19:57possible.
- 19:57possible listing you know of time bank um i think eventually it might just happen
- 20:03i'm sure it will
- 20:05Well, it'll be good.
- 20:06I mean, it's nice to hear something that's not leaving the JSC, but in fact, going in
- 20:12the opposite direction and joining it.
- 20:14Right, Scott, we've babbled on too much with our enthusiasm about certain asset
- 20:19classes and certain securities.
- 20:21So I'm going to bring us back down to earth now and give you the real dope, the
- 20:24real deal.
- 20:24And it's the prices.
- 20:25The dollar round is 1716.
- 20:27Who'd have thought it that it might change its big figure?
- 20:31Not from 18 to 19, from 19 to 20, but from 17 to 16.
- 20:35Well done, the rand.
- 20:36British pound against the rand, 23 on the nail.
- 20:39And the euro rand is 1993.
- 20:44That's the first time it's been below 20 for quite a while.
- 20:48Euro dollar is 116.15.
- 20:50This is a strange thing, Scott.
- 20:52The dollar's gone from like 118.50, 119 euro dollar, now to 116,
- 20:57and yet the gold price has gone up.
- 20:59I mean, the...
- 20:59The relationship between gold and the dollar is weak dollar, strong gold.
- 21:03Not strong dollar, strong gold.
- 21:05So it's independent strength from that yellow metal of yours.
- 21:08British pound against the dollar, $1.34.
- 21:11What else have we got here?
- 21:13Oh, yes, gold price.
- 21:15Bear market, sell, sell, sell, $4,039.
- 21:19Now it's fallen $5 in the last half hour.
- 21:21Goodness me, I can't believe I'm telling you this.
- 21:26$4,039 up 1.4%.
- 21:27Oh, my word.
- 21:28So another $39 as well.
- 21:29Yeah, that's all over.
- 21:31Platinum is $16.92.
- 21:33Extraordinary.
- 21:34At $42 an ounce, 2.6% higher.
- 21:38And palladium up 7.25% today.
- 21:40$100 an ounce better at $14.73.
- 21:46Okay, on to other commodities.
- 21:48And as we agreed upon a few weeks ago, We include copper in our bulleted.
- 21:52It's coming off a bit.
- 21:53It's down 0.3%, but it's above $5 a pound in New York.
- 21:57$5.03, $5.035 per pound.
- 22:02That's quite a move, the $5 move.
- 22:05It was $4.50 not long ago.
- 22:07So copper on the way up, as we predicted.
- 22:10And crude oil now, $62.88, up nearly 2% for West Texas crude.
- 22:15And Brent crude up 1.6%, $66.
- 22:19uh 50 natural gas incidentally down 4.1 percent uh bitcoin went to
- 22:26an all-time record high a couple of days ago 125 000 odd it is now 122 250 which is
- 22:33up
- 22:33a third of a percent on the day the south african 10-year bond it's
- 22:38having a go again it's nine basis points down the yield nine point zero nine
- 22:44percent so up the bonds well done
- 22:46that's with the strong round of course in the us tenure is
- 22:494.12%, which is a quarter of a percent down, or what is that, just one and a bit
- 22:55basis points.
- 22:57S&P 500 futures closing in on 6,800.
- 23:01What a performance.
- 23:02The day's range is 6,758 to 6,793.
- 23:07It's on 6,793 now, all-time record highs, and that's for the December futures.
- 23:13So all-time records on the gold, the S&P.
- 23:17And also the Bitcoin price a couple of days ago.
- 23:21What a week it's been already.
- 23:23God, Scott, I'm exhausted.
- 23:25Can you please give me your ups and downs on the JSC?
- 23:29And I'll give you mine in a moment.
- 23:32Yes.
- 23:33I think before I do that, I just want to clarify what I said earlier.
- 23:36Looking at Don's involvement with Time Bank, I need to correct that immediately.
- 23:42I think Michael will give me a hard attack.
- 23:46since he's involved with time back it's actually with bank zero that's where
- 23:52michael radon's involved but time back is in fact as
- 23:54as i mentioned it's a part of patrice matip is uh arc or african african river
- 23:59capsule yes okay
- 24:01good and also you can have a look at that book that we spoke of that'll tell you
- 24:07everything about it should you it go to market and you want to
- 24:09know a little bit more apparently a very good read if you like that sort of thing
- 24:12Uh, ScalpJSC, please.
- 24:14Not the indices yet, the individual movers.
- 24:16Oh, individual movers, I just wanted to say, I mean, you gave it all away when we
- 24:20started.
- 24:21That's all right, you can...
- 24:22But individual movers for today, you know, let's start at the losers for today.
- 24:27We had Sappy down 4.6%, Hyde Prop down 4.1%. First round,
- 24:33as you mentioned, you know, for reasons very unfortunate, 3.6%
- 24:40down.
- 24:40down 3.5%.
- 24:42And Afrimat, after a trading update yesterday, which didn't look too bad, that
- 24:49was down 2%.
- 24:51Let me quickly see if there was any of the companies that had dividends, because I
- 24:56know
- 24:57High Prop was most probably a dividend situation, yes.
- 25:01So out of those, High Prop was a dividend drop, so not to worry there.
- 25:08Then, on the winners for today.
- 25:11Leave the best till last low, they call him.
- 25:13Okay, go ahead.
- 25:15There we go.
- 25:18Camelot is no surprise.
- 25:196.9% up today, Valtteri.
- 25:23Northern platinum, 6% up.
- 25:26Impala platinum, 5.7% up.
- 25:305.2% for Sabania Stillwater.
- 25:33This is an odd one out.
- 25:35Pick and pay.
- 25:35That's done 4.94% for today.
- 25:39What an F4.
- 25:40Yeah, that's a strange, strange one.
- 25:42Isn't it?
- 25:44Naturally, in the top 10, top 15, we've also had Goldfields up 3.5%,
- 25:49Angler Gold up 3.1%, and Harmony up 2.6%.
- 25:55So, yeah, it's sort of a Jay's year of old today.
- 25:59Definitely a Jay's year of old.
- 26:01Absolutely brilliant.
- 26:02Yeah, I've got all the same ones.
- 26:05I've got, you know, Sappy Story's been a big one in the last week or so.
- 26:11Still on the downside.
- 26:12but um I think now, with the drumroll,
- 26:16you've got to have a look at the indices because I see that the resources have been
- 26:22the standout winners on the JSC today.
- 26:24But give us all the details because it is extraordinary.
- 26:26So, yeah, I just want to quickly mention a quick factoid.
- 26:31First round was egg stiff.
- 26:33So there's a two round 47 egg stiff story as well.
- 26:37So that do change it a bit because we've seen a movement of...
- 26:432.91 today on the downward, and it had a 2.47 dividend.
- 26:49Flat on the day.
- 26:50It was still negative.
- 26:52I mean, all the other banks had a really positive day.
- 26:56So let's call it that announcement did affect it negatively, but not as negative
- 27:02as we would have thought.
- 27:04So here we go.
- 27:06JSE, I mean, you gave it away at the start of the program.
- 27:08Under the 10,971 points, that's up one.
- 27:12point four percent i'm going to leave the best for last industrials up
- 27:1668 basis points while financials were just in the green up a point one nine percent
- 27:23and the best
- 27:25was and the winner was by a country mile resource index up today in
- 27:29total
- 27:303.71 man oh man oh man what a performance
- 27:38isn't that brilliant what was the value traded today please skulk So value traded
- 27:43for today.
- 27:45Yeah, Austin, not a slow day.
- 27:46It was just shy of 27 billion traded to the market for today.
- 27:50Not bad at all.
- 27:51With a strong round, that makes quite a good dollar sum.
- 27:54Skalk, it's been a very exciting day.
- 27:57It will continue to be so in New York hours, I'm sure.
- 28:00What will it be next week?
- 28:01I don't know.
- 28:02But keep me in touch and keep us in touch on that put option situation.
- 28:07I know you can't talk on behalf of clients, but just see if you've...
- 28:11investigated i'd love to see what they're charging these days uh for gold put
- 28:18options will they be incredibly low because the prices
- 28:20go on shooting up or will they start to get a little bit more expensive because of
- 28:25the volatility in the market because of the vix
- 28:27on the on the gold market will they uh will the premiums of the put options start
- 28:32to go up i'd like to know that you'll
- 28:34report upon that next week of course yeah let's let's have a look that'll be
- 28:38interesting to look at okay
