2:32
Speaker 4: want to welcome into the show now. He's only been
2:34
Speaker 4: on the job for a couple of weeks, and I'm
2:36
Speaker 4: only I'm gonna go ahead and apologize already if I
2:38
Speaker 4: refer to him by a different title, but it is
2:41
Speaker 4: Attorney General J. B. Mccusky. Good morning, sir, Good morning Dave.
2:46
Speaker 6: How are you Dad?
2:47
Speaker 4: I'm doing fine. I say that because you know when
2:49
Speaker 4: you've been when you were in the Auditor's Officer for
2:51
Speaker 4: so long, I may accidentally call you that, but you
2:54
Speaker 4: are indeed the Attorney General I am, and.
2:57
Speaker 6: I'm loving it. It's it's a really awesome job.
3:00
Speaker 4: The best when you when you are out and you're
3:02
Speaker 4: talking to people because you have the auditor's job, do
3:04
Speaker 4: you do you accidentally refer to yourself as the auditor.
3:08
Speaker 6: It's happened. It's kind of like when the new year
3:11
Speaker 6: changes and you write the wrong You're down on the
3:13
Speaker 6: on every form for the first month. But we're getting there.
3:16
Speaker 4: Talk about how the first couple of weeks have been.
3:19
Speaker 4: I mean, you're getting all the boxes unpacked and such.
3:22
Speaker 6: Yeah, so we're working on getting the office put together.
3:25
Speaker 6: But I think importantly what happened with me is that
3:28
Speaker 6: I was able to put together a sort of transition
3:30
Speaker 6: committee months and months ago, and I was able to
3:34
Speaker 6: build a team of people that I was going to
3:35
Speaker 6: bring in to add to the people that were already
3:37
Speaker 6: in Patrick's office. So, you know, we were able to
3:39
Speaker 6: hit the ground running on day one and we sort
3:42
Speaker 6: of haven't looked back since. And you know, we got
3:45
Speaker 6: off the ground pretty quickly with a suit against New York,
3:48
Speaker 6: which we're really hopeful for and very proud of our
3:51
Speaker 6: work in that case, and the coalition we're with the
3:53
Speaker 6: build and now we're in the legislative session. So there's
3:56
Speaker 6: there's a lot going on.
3:57
Speaker 4: I want to talk to you about a couple of things.
3:59
Speaker 4: One of those has spent Your office released some information
4:03
Speaker 4: that you have joined roughly twenty five or so states
4:05
Speaker 4: urging the US Senate to pass something called the Halt
4:09
Speaker 4: Fentanyl Act. Explain that, sir.
4:12
Speaker 6: Yeah, So the Halt Fentanyl Act is a sort of
4:15
Speaker 6: a groundbreaking federal law that will enable law enforcement officers
4:20
Speaker 6: at all to really start to crack down on sentinel
4:24
Speaker 6: crimes and federl related crimes. So we were really really
4:27
Speaker 6: proud to sign onto that to hurge the Senate to
4:31
Speaker 6: get that through because it's important and as we know
4:34
Speaker 6: in West Virginia, there are no bigger problems than the
4:37
Speaker 6: needless and massive amounts of loss of life that we
4:41
Speaker 6: continue to experience because of this drug crisis. And right
4:43
Speaker 6: now that drug is fentinel and we needed every tool
4:46
Speaker 6: in our coolbox to get it off streets.
4:48
Speaker 4: And one of the things that I know that you
4:50
Speaker 4: have you have done, and it goes along the lines
4:53
Speaker 4: of drugs, is that And I don't know what the
4:55
Speaker 4: exact title of the Gentleman is, but you got someone
4:57
Speaker 4: working for you that's worked for you in the past
5:00
Speaker 4: going to be focusing a lot on on on drug
5:04
Speaker 4: drug issues. Do you want to talk about that a
5:06
Speaker 4: little bit?
5:07
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd love to. So. Uh, it's a guy named
5:09
Speaker 6: Josh Barker who I've known for a very long time.
5:12
Speaker 6: But Josh was a field rep in the Auditor's office
5:15
Speaker 6: and and Josh became an addict, and I remember getting
5:19
Speaker 6: the phone call from his wife after he'd been dark hand,
5:21
Speaker 6: and you know, it was a really informative sort of
5:25
Speaker 6: time for me and for him. I mean, I learned
5:27
Speaker 6: an enormous about amount about how prevalent and hard to
5:33
Speaker 6: spot substance abuse can be. And I think both of
5:37
Speaker 6: us together sort of, you know, we learned a lot about,
5:40
Speaker 6: you know, how how we should be treating addicts, uh
5:42
Speaker 6: that are trying to get better, and how to how
5:44
Speaker 6: to manage that. So when I got elected to the
5:46
Speaker 6: AG's office, I talked to Josh because I wanted somebody
5:49
Speaker 6: in the community who could speak to both service providers
5:53
Speaker 6: and addicts in a way that other people couldn't. And
5:55
Speaker 6: Josh has that experience and jumped at the chance.
5:58
Speaker 4: Uh.
5:59
Speaker 6: And so he is going to you know, our liaison
6:01
Speaker 6: out of the AG's office into the substance abuse community,
6:04
Speaker 6: so that we can make sure that we're doing every
6:06
Speaker 6: single thing we can to help stop kids from getting
6:11
Speaker 6: addicted in the first place, and finding resources for people
6:14
Speaker 6: that are that are trying to do the right thing.
6:16
Speaker 4: And I think sometimes in these kinds of situations a
6:20
Speaker 4: g can be it can be very important to have somebody,
6:22
Speaker 4: as you said, that speaks the language and somebody that's
6:25
Speaker 4: been there, somebody and I know Josh very well is
6:27
Speaker 4: good friend, and I think he'll do an incredible job
6:31
Speaker 4: in that role. So hats off to you for giving
6:32
Speaker 4: him that opportunity.
6:34
Speaker 6: Is doing an incredible job, and we're just I'm just
6:37
Speaker 6: really thankful to be able to have that kind of intel.
6:41
Speaker 6: As you know, the West Virginia First Foundation and so
6:44
Speaker 6: many things the AG's office touches that community, and we
6:46
Speaker 6: want to make sure we're doing everything we can.
6:48
Speaker 4: But Dave Allan showing five any Live has brought to
6:50
Speaker 4: you a part by snap Funess. Snap has a wide
6:53

6:56
Speaker 4: Five convenient locations to Charleston, Hurricane, Winfield, Barbersville, and Milton
7:00
Speaker 4: businessnapitness dot com for more details. So what's this about
7:04
Speaker 4: the little war or whatever that not maybe not wars
7:08
Speaker 4: not the right word. But with New York on climate change,
7:11
Speaker 4: you've you've kind of gotten on the gloves here. Tell
7:13
Speaker 4: us about that.
7:15
Speaker 6: So New York decided, in their infinite wisdom that they
7:19
Speaker 6: were going to find energy companies to the tune of
7:22
Speaker 6: seven hundred and or seventy five billion dollars over the
7:25
Speaker 6: next ten years. And you know, we saw this as
7:28
Speaker 6: an affront not just to the to the great companies
7:31
Speaker 6: that produce energy here in West Virginia, but sort of
7:33
Speaker 6: to the Constitution at large. Right, So what we are
7:37
Speaker 6: doing is we built a coalition of myself in twenty
7:39
Speaker 6: two other states, and we have sued New York in
7:42
Speaker 6: New York to invalidate this law. We think it's unconstitutional,
7:46
Speaker 6: and to be honest, I think it is kind of
7:49
Speaker 6: silly in its application and in its intent.
7:54
Speaker 4: And I think it was last week that announcement came
7:58
Speaker 4: down that several states and other parties had reached. I
8:02
Speaker 4: think it was like a seven point four billion dollar
8:04
Speaker 4: settlement something like that with the Gwen. Back to drugs
8:06
Speaker 4: from moment with the Sackler family and their company producer
8:09
Speaker 4: Farmer tell us about that.
8:11
Speaker 6: Yeah, so that that was a case that was filed,
8:15
Speaker 6: you know, under the opioid cases when Patrick was the AG.
8:18
Speaker 6: And what happened was is that all the other drug
8:21
Speaker 6: companies ponied up the settlements, but Purdue decided that they
8:25
Speaker 6: were bankrupt, which is comical when you consider that all
8:28
Speaker 6: of the people and the Sackler family are al still billionaires.
8:31
Speaker 6: So they held up the process, sort of dragging their
8:34
Speaker 6: feet through a bankruptcy. And what we were able to do,
8:38
Speaker 6: our council was able to they were able to finally
8:40
Speaker 6: get over all the bankruptcy hurdles and get in some
8:44
Speaker 6: language that everyone could agree on about seven billion dollars
8:48
Speaker 6: in total. West Virginia's share of that will be about
8:50
Speaker 6: fifty five million, which is a great number, and we
8:54
Speaker 6: will get paid out in a time frame that's a
8:56
Speaker 6: little faster than the other states. So we'll start getting
8:58
Speaker 6: a little bit more money faster than most to the
9:00
Speaker 6: other states in the settlement.
9:02
Speaker 4: Talking again with the Attorney General JB. Mccusky. And so before
9:05
Speaker 4: we let you go, your name has been brought up
9:07
Speaker 4: a lot in the office in regards to this section
9:09
Speaker 4: five oh four of the Rehabilitation Act in the Americans
9:13
Speaker 4: with Disabilities, explain what five oh four was going to
9:16
Speaker 4: be and what your stance and what your office of
9:18
Speaker 4: stance is on that.
9:20
Speaker 7: Yeah.
9:21
Speaker 6: So I have been an advocate for the disability community
9:24
Speaker 6: throughout my career in politics. And what's happening here is
9:27
Speaker 6: that there was a lawsuit filed in September of last
9:30
Speaker 6: year challenging the addition of one additional disability to the
9:35
Speaker 6: list of disabilities that are covered under five oh four.
9:38
Speaker 6: There's some language in the lawsuit that quite frankly, probably
9:40
Speaker 6: shouldn't have been there, but that's besides the point. We
9:44
Speaker 6: are working very hard. We worked all through the weekend
9:47
Speaker 6: to get this case stayed and dismissed, and we are
9:50
Speaker 6: very hopeful that that's going to happen in the near future.
9:52
Speaker 6: And I would like to reassure that every family that
9:55
Speaker 6: has either a child or as a part of the
9:57
Speaker 6: five oh four community that we are not going to
9:59
Speaker 6: allow anything to happen. Nothing has happened to the program
10:02
Speaker 6: as it is now, and we're fighting very very and
10:05
Speaker 6: very hopeful that soon we'll have some resolution here. But
10:08
Speaker 6: the five oh four plans are not going anywhere, and
10:10
Speaker 6: everyone that's on them to be assured that we're fighting
10:12
Speaker 6: to make sure that they stay in place.
10:13
Speaker 7: As they were.
10:14
Speaker 4: I know that was a concern of a lot of people.
10:16
Speaker 4: I read Attorney General JB. McCuskey as always, I appreciate
10:20
Speaker 4: you being here. Be safe. We'll talk soon, Buddy, Thanks.
10:22
Speaker 6: A lot, Dave, thanks buddy, talk to you to man.
10:25
Speaker 4: Attorney General JB. Mccusky, I almost said Attorney General Patrick Morrissey,
10:28
Speaker 4: and then I almost refer to him as state auditor,
10:30
Speaker 4: because you know, when you're old and don't have a
10:32
Speaker 4: lot of brain cells like I don't, sometimes old habits

Speaker 4: might want to make that change. Just saying I'm apparently
15:53
Speaker 4: not going anywhere so not for.
15:55
Speaker 7: A while, and I'm to update my contact.
15:57
Speaker 4: Possibly finally, possibly finally, uh you you and you and
16:02
Speaker 4: Jim Justice Mayne to update the flip fund. I'm just saying,
16:08
Speaker 4: you know.
16:09
Speaker 7: What would be funest if we could do that together,
16:11
Speaker 7: that would be nice team bonding.
16:14
Speaker 4: All right, let's get serious here for a moment. The
16:16
Speaker 4: big news of the last couple of days has been
16:18
Speaker 4: the widespread flooding, of course, in southern West Virginia. We
16:21
Speaker 4: got a lot posted about it. Chris Lawrence actually spent
16:23
Speaker 4: the last couple of days down there and I were
16:26
Speaker 4: talking about off the air this morning. Governor Morrissey toured
16:29
Speaker 4: the area yesterday and it's got a press or covered
16:31
Speaker 4: up at ten this morning to talk about it. Now
16:33
Speaker 4: we wait, I guess for word from Washington about aid
16:36
Speaker 4: for the area. Is that right, Brad?
16:39
Speaker 7: Yes? So the administration is applying for a national disaster declaration,
16:48
Speaker 7: applying for help from FEMA UH and the what's for
16:53
Speaker 7: He's congressional delegation I received an email this morning is
16:58
Speaker 7: also on board with pursuing that disaster declaration. The Governor
17:05
Speaker 7: Morrissey is having a briefing at ten regarding his travel
17:14
Speaker 7: through southern West Virginia through the flood zone yesterday, so
17:17
Speaker 7: we'll hear more about what he experienced. My understanding is
17:20
Speaker 7: in the Metro News home office, Chris Lawrence is covering
17:26
Speaker 7: Governor Morrissey's comments, and Jeff Jingens is headed for the
17:30
Speaker 7: flood zone himself this morning live and in person. Yeah, yeah,
17:34
Speaker 7: I talked to Riverage.
17:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, as I said, I talked to Chris a little
17:37
Speaker 4: bit as we were transitioning from one show to the next,
17:39
Speaker 4: and he talked about being of course he was down
17:41
Speaker 4: He was in Williamson. Chris was Saturday for the Southern
17:45
Speaker 4: West Virginia Fishing Expo that was there at the field
17:47
Speaker 4: House in Williams, and I think he just spent some
17:49
Speaker 4: extra time down there and they went back again. I
17:50
Speaker 4: know he was down there, spent a lot of time
17:52
Speaker 4: down there yesterday. And I can say thankfully that in
17:54
Speaker 4: my lifetime, Brad, I only went through one flood. That
17:57
Speaker 4: was in nineteen ninety six. My family was impacted by
18:01
Speaker 4: the Buffalo Creek flood back in seventy two. But I
18:04
Speaker 4: will say a lot of those areas Brad for particularly
18:07
Speaker 4: Mingo and McDowell counties. My native Logan County got hit two.
18:10
Speaker 4: But I think Mingo and McDowell really got hit harder. Sadly,
18:16
Speaker 4: it's just a way of life down there every couple
18:20
Speaker 4: of years, sometimes more than that. It's it's sad really.
18:24
Speaker 7: Well, it is, you know, such sharp terrain, those steep
18:29
Speaker 7: hillsides you know in the river valley or the creek
18:34
Speaker 7: bed down below. And anytime you get day after day
18:38
Speaker 7: after day of precipitation, you know, it's just it lends
18:42
Speaker 7: itself to situations like this one.
18:45
Speaker 4: Unfortunately, right but Dave Iland Chilling five. Any line brought
18:48
Speaker 4: to you part by Meek's Realtory group looking to buy
18:50
Speaker 4: or sell Meeks as you covered from residential to commercial,
18:52
Speaker 4: trust Rich the realtor one of the area's premier real
18:55
Speaker 4: estate teams to guide you every step of the way. Meeks,

19:00
Speaker 4: zero four nine three two seventy four eighty eight or
19:02
Speaker 4: email are client climb with a K at Meeksrealtygroup dot com.
19:06
Speaker 4: So Brown, I talked about this yesterday, all of the
19:09
Speaker 4: hubbub surrounding what some what some legislators wanted to call
19:13
Speaker 4: the artist formerly known as Spruce Knob, some wanted to
19:17
Speaker 4: be called Trump Mountain. Now, it was a resolution and
19:19
Speaker 4: not a bill. It was never gonna happen anyway, But
19:22
Speaker 4: as I said yesterday, it had the desired effect in
19:25
Speaker 4: getting the Trump base fired up as well as the
19:28
Speaker 4: Trump haters, and I quickly I wanted to read a statement,
19:31
Speaker 4: a portion of which I'm gonna read the whole thing
19:33
Speaker 4: that was posted to social media last night from Delegate
19:36
Speaker 4: Patrick Lewis Patrick Lucas. I'm sorry, sorry, Delegate out of
19:41
Speaker 4: Cable County. It was a long post. I've got the
19:43
Speaker 4: entire thing posted over on Dave Island Radio and Facebook,
19:46
Speaker 4: so I'll shorten it for our segment here. He starts
19:47
Speaker 4: out by stating it was a resolution, as I said,
19:51
Speaker 4: not a bill, which we talked about yesterday as well.
19:53
Speaker 4: He went on to say that the resolution has no
19:55
Speaker 4: chance of becoming law. He states that he thought the
19:59
Speaker 4: idea was simply to honor President Trump. He says he
20:02
Speaker 4: sided not thinking much about it, and then once the
20:04
Speaker 4: feedback started coming in that he requested on Friday that
20:08
Speaker 4: his name be removed from the resolution. Now he says
20:11
Speaker 4: it was officially the removal granted yesterday, and he goes
20:15
Speaker 4: on to say, wait for it here, Brad. Because it's
20:18
Speaker 4: not something that you often hear in political circles on
20:21
Speaker 4: either side, I certainly would never hear President Trump say it.
20:25
Speaker 4: He was wrong. He apparently felt so bad about it
20:28
Speaker 4: that on Friday night, Del Lucas wrote a resolution that
20:33
Speaker 4: says no West Virginia landmark, state park or other state
20:36
Speaker 4: owned property shall be named after a politician. Now again,
20:42
Speaker 4: you can read the entire statement on Dave Is of
20:45
Speaker 4: Radio on Facebook. Your thoughts.
20:48
Speaker 7: So I am the one person who did not get
20:50
Speaker 7: fired up about this.
20:54
Speaker 4: I didn't either, I was just reacting to other people.
20:56
Speaker 7: So, you know, I mean, West Virginia is a seventy
21:02
Speaker 7: percent Trump state, so obviously very much support for the
21:07
Speaker 7: current and past president. But what West Virginia loves even
21:12
Speaker 7: more than that is West Virginia, you know, very much
21:15
Speaker 7: a state enamored with its own history, its own traditions,
21:19
Speaker 7: its own pride, people have, you know, tattoos, the outline
21:25
Speaker 7: of the state. Very much, a state with its own
21:31
Speaker 7: identity that's taken to heart by its people. And I
21:33
Speaker 7: think that's where this one washed out is. You know,
21:37
Speaker 7: Spruce Knob, which you get in West Virginia history as
21:41
Speaker 7: the highest point in the state, just outranked of all
21:44
Speaker 7: things that identity with President Trump of the Trump state.
21:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, So, I mean, what do you think though of
21:54
Speaker 4: some of these these folks, particularly Delegate Lucas, you know,
21:58
Speaker 4: coming back and saying, hey, I was wrong. You don't
22:00
Speaker 4: hear that very often, Brad.
22:03
Speaker 7: You don't hear that very often, and you know, good
22:05
Speaker 7: for him. You certainly don't see it at the national level.
22:08
Speaker 7: But West Virginia is a small state. People know each other,
22:12
Speaker 7: and maybe maybe there's still a place in West Virginia
22:15
Speaker 7: politics to say I was wrong, or I changed my mind,
22:18
Speaker 7: or I've looked at it a different way, or the
22:21
Speaker 7: people's opinion has prevailed upon me.
22:24
Speaker 4: I wanted to bring something up here for you, if
22:26
Speaker 4: you got a couple of seconds, Brad. I know I
22:27
Speaker 4: told you I wouldn't keep it that long, but I
22:29
Speaker 4: got one thing I got to bring up to you.
22:30
Speaker 4: Can you hang out with me here just one second?
22:32
Speaker 7: Oh?
22:32
Speaker 4: Sure, okay, you sound thrilled?
22:35
Speaker 7: All right?
22:36
Speaker 4: So this story, this came out yesterday. I'm gonna try
22:43
Speaker 4: to get through this without laughing. Just when you thought
22:45
Speaker 4: that we couldn't get any more ridiculous with the whole
22:48
Speaker 4: spruce knob story, how about woke words in West Virginia.
22:53
Speaker 4: We're gonna try to ban words now. And you know
22:55
Speaker 4: how I feel about banning words. There was I guess.
22:59
Speaker 4: I guess since a bill that was introduced yesterday, and
23:02
Speaker 4: I've got an information posted about again on my Facebook page.
23:05
Speaker 4: Dave Alan Radio that certain delegates Kathy has Kraus's friend
23:10
Speaker 4: of the show was one of the one of the
23:11
Speaker 4: lead delegates on this, but there are several others. She's
23:13
Speaker 4: the one that I recall that they want to remove
23:17
Speaker 4: certain words that we use or to be used in
23:22
Speaker 4: state government language. For example, you know the term pregnant
23:26
Speaker 4: people or pregnant person can only be called pregnant woman
23:31
Speaker 4: or pregnant mom. No more chest feeding, which is I
23:35
Speaker 4: guess the current their words of the woke term. Now
23:37
Speaker 4: it would be breastfeeding, body fed or person fed needs
23:43
Speaker 4: to go back to breastfed. Breast milk should be called
23:47
Speaker 4: breast milk, not human milk. Rather than birthing person, it's
23:51
Speaker 4: birthing mom rather than a laboring person. It's birthing mom
23:54
Speaker 4: rather than menstruating person or menstruating people. Use the term
23:58
Speaker 4: woman or women rather and birth giver. It has to
24:01
Speaker 4: be a woman and rather uh than woman with an
24:05
Speaker 4: ex or woman with a Y. I didn't know that
24:07
Speaker 4: was a thing. It has to be women W M
24:11
Speaker 4: E N. So this is what we have to focus on. Brad,
24:16
Speaker 4: I mean nothing nothing.
24:18
Speaker 7: Else, Thank goodness, we are free speech absolutists in this country.
24:22
Speaker 4: I am one.
24:24
Speaker 7: To free speech. Yeah, I mean about this bill this morning.
24:30
Speaker 7: So does that apply to me and Dave or it
24:33
Speaker 7: applies to government communications?
24:35
Speaker 4: It's communications.
24:37
Speaker 7: If it applies to me and Dave, I reserve my
24:39
Speaker 7: right to call Dave a pregnant person, not stop me
24:44
Speaker 7: from calling Dave a pregnant person.
24:46
Speaker 4: Well, that's that's a body by Miller Lite. That's what
24:48
Speaker 4: the problem there is.
24:50
Speaker 6: Uh.
24:50
Speaker 4: But but again, Brad, you know I and I and
24:52
Speaker 4: I get what they're saying. And I you know, I've
24:55
Speaker 4: railed for the fast five years about political correctness and
24:58
Speaker 4: wokeism and things that. But come on, man, I mean
25:01
Speaker 4: we are I mean, and with all due respect to
25:03
Speaker 4: these delegates, all of whom I see as friends, I mean,
25:09
Speaker 4: this is what we are concerned about right now. I mean,
25:12
Speaker 4: we are forty ninth, fiftieth, fifty first in every damn
25:15
Speaker 4: thing in the world, but we're worried about stupid crap
25:19
Speaker 4: like this. Really, the whole state, or a portion of
25:23
Speaker 4: the state is underwater right now. I mean, this is
25:28
Speaker 4: what we're spending our time on. This is why we
25:32
Speaker 4: send these people to the Capitol.
25:34
Speaker 7: Really, we are fighting the WOP virus. But I will
25:39
Speaker 7: say I am unfamiliar with that kind of language in
25:43
Speaker 7: any official state communication. I've ever read, Yeah.
25:45
Speaker 4: You and everybody else, I'm unfamiliar with that.
25:48
Speaker 7: I've heard that language on occasion during the public hearings
25:53
Speaker 7: that used to exist in the House of Delegates, but
25:55
Speaker 7: that came in from the outside and people were exercising
25:59
Speaker 7: their free speed to use the language that they choose.
26:02
Speaker 7: I have absolutely never seen the kind of examples that
26:07
Speaker 7: you cited. I mean, even from the former DHHR, which
26:12
Speaker 7: might deal with pregnancies and that kind of thing. I'm
26:16
Speaker 7: at a loss for an example of how it would
26:20
Speaker 7: actually apply and why it would need to be done well.
26:23
Speaker 4: Any of those debtly gets, many of whom have been
26:25
Speaker 4: on this show in the past. They're welcome to come
26:26
Speaker 4: on and explain it to me. What are you looking
26:28
Speaker 4: at today, brand?
26:30
Speaker 7: Oh, so we're gonna there's going to be potential action
26:36
Speaker 7: in the State Senate on actual viruses. The bill that
26:42
Speaker 7: would loosen up vaccination requirements in public and private schools
26:48
Speaker 7: today is amendment stage, so I do expect some amendments
26:53
Speaker 7: focusing on particularly the private school aspect of that I mean,
26:57
Speaker 7: if you're a Catholic school, should you have to abide
27:01
Speaker 7: by the states uh loosened rules for your student population?
27:06
Speaker 7: Or could you, as a private school have a fairly
27:10
Speaker 7: strict vaccination policy. So that that's one thing, it's the
27:15
Speaker 7: significant thing today. There is another culture issue in the Senate, Yeah,
27:24
Speaker 7: clamping down on transgender issues among West Virginia's youth. Uh
27:33
Speaker 7: further further scaling back on the kind of gender therapy
27:41
Speaker 7: and gender treatment that potentially could be available to to
27:46
Speaker 7: uh two kids under age eighteen.
27:49
Speaker 4: Uh.
27:49
Speaker 7: So that's that's coming out in the Senate Health Committee
27:52
Speaker 7: this afternoon. So we are we are, we are doing
27:56
Speaker 7: a lot of hot button issues here at the West
27:59
Speaker 7: Virginia Legislature.
28:00
Speaker 4: All right, all right, Brad, As always, I appreciate it.
28:03
Speaker 4: You got to hear a little bit of my rant there,
28:05
Speaker 4: so I appreciate you sitting through that. Man, Thanks a lot.
28:08
Speaker 7: See, after I told you my things, don't you wish
28:10
Speaker 7: they were arguing about the name of the fountains instead?
28:13
Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, I'll go back to I'll go back to
28:15
Speaker 4: the good old days of last Friday when we were
28:18
Speaker 4: just talking about mountains. I appreciate you being here man,
28:20
Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, Brad Macklheannay. Of course you can follow

Speaker 4: I think the whole I think the whole world has

Speaker 4: lost its collective minds. Okay, that's that's kind of my
29:05
Speaker 4: opinion on everything. My point in saying all this is
29:09
Speaker 4: to say again, we have a foster care crisis. We
29:13
Speaker 4: have a childcare crisis. We are uh the lead what
29:17
Speaker 4: is the What's the word I'm looking for when it
29:19

29:22

Speaker 4: but but this is what we are spending time on,

32:54
Speaker 4: potential flooding, which you know, we did see in southern

Speaker 4: kind of caught some people like myself by surprise coming
33:05
Speaker 4: in yesterday morning. It was pretty pretty rough drive in
33:08
Speaker 4: yesterday morning from from.
33:09
Speaker 3: Putneck cat fan of snow. It did, it did its
33:12
Speaker 3: own thing, and it was only it's like from Milton
33:14
Speaker 3: to Charleston back up to Drennan and that was it.
33:18
Speaker 4: That was it. I mean, it was it was and
33:20
Speaker 4: it was all gone and the sun was out by
33:21
Speaker 4: about ten or ten thirty not going to be the
33:23
Speaker 4: case with this next storm system though, right right.
33:27
Speaker 3: We're expecting this. First of all, there's a couple of ployries,
33:30
Speaker 3: so possible today at any point across the area because
33:33
Speaker 3: we're just so cold. But as we head into tonight
33:37
Speaker 3: ten eleven o'clock, we'll see a few little light snowshowers
33:39
Speaker 3: popping up, and then by the time we get to
33:42
Speaker 3: you know, two three o'clock in the morning, light snow
33:44
Speaker 3: showers relatively steady. But here's the deal, and this is
33:48
Speaker 3: going to be a slow roll on the snow. Accumulation's
33:52
Speaker 3: gonna take, you know, a good solid eight to twelve
33:56
Speaker 3: hours for us to accumulate the two to three inches
34:00
Speaker 3: the snow, and then we're going to have a lull
34:02
Speaker 3: as it go into Wednesday afternoon or early evening, and
34:05
Speaker 3: then in the late night hours we'll get another little
34:07
Speaker 3: batch of snow, maybe throws another inch or so in
34:11
Speaker 3: going into early Thursday morning. So within about what would
34:15
Speaker 3: be about a thirty hour time period, we'll have anywhere
34:19
Speaker 3: from three to five inches worth of snow across the area.
34:22
Speaker 3: So it takes a while for us to get there,
34:25
Speaker 3: and the roads are going to be able to be
34:28
Speaker 3: plowed properly, and people are going to be able to
34:30
Speaker 3: get around relatively easy, So it's not coming down real
34:33
Speaker 3: heavy all at once.
34:34
Speaker 8: That's good news.
34:35
Speaker 4: Well, and unlike last week the differences I think too,
34:37
Speaker 4: between what we had which turned out to be not
34:39
Speaker 4: a whole lot for the Charleston Aarry, to be honest
34:41
Speaker 4: with you, I mean almost nothing at all. It is
34:44
Speaker 4: going to be a heck of a lot colder. I
34:45
Speaker 4: mean even today, it's pretty dang cold out there, and
34:48
Speaker 4: it's not going to warm up with the next couple
34:50
Speaker 4: of days. So whatever snow we do get is going
34:52
Speaker 4: to stick. It's not going to go away quickly like
34:54
Speaker 4: what the what last week's snow did.
34:57
Speaker 3: Right this is you know, we're looking at temperatures that
34:59
Speaker 3: are money plus degrees below normal for this time off
35:03
Speaker 3: y'ere for our daytime highs, and then you look at
35:05
Speaker 3: the load temperatures. I mean, we're looking at about fifteen
35:09
Speaker 3: degrees below normal.
35:10
Speaker 2: So when you.
35:11
Speaker 3: Look at that, you know, obviously stuff's going to stick around.
35:14
Speaker 3: But thankfully, at least by the time we get this weekend,
35:17
Speaker 3: you know, forty on Saturday, we'll be in the mid
35:19
Speaker 3: upper forties on Sunday and next week we.
35:21
Speaker 2: Do warm up.
35:22
Speaker 3: But it's going to be a very efficient snow that's
35:25
Speaker 3: going to be produced tonight through tomorrow, and so it's
35:29
Speaker 3: going to be light and fluffy. It blows around easy,
35:31
Speaker 3: and that's good if you're driving down the road and
35:33
Speaker 3: it just kind of blows around. It's nine that it's
35:36
Speaker 3: not stuff that's heavy and thick that is difficult to shovel,
35:39
Speaker 3: things of that nature. But you know, more than anything, yes,
35:43
Speaker 3: the cold is the big story because of the temperatures,
35:47
Speaker 3: you know, being so low and so far below normal
35:50
Speaker 3: for this time of year.
35:51
Speaker 4: And everybody wants to know how is it going to
35:52
Speaker 4: impact them? So go ahead and set that up for
35:55
Speaker 4: people on that. Let's just take the morning commute tomorrow morning.
35:58
Speaker 4: You know, most people seven eight o'clock, what can they expect.
36:01
Speaker 3: You're going to expect some light stone showers that continue.
36:04
Speaker 3: Would I would definitely be prepared to take my time
36:07
Speaker 3: tomorrow morning. I do expect most schools to be on
36:10
Speaker 3: a delay, with at least here in the Kanaal Valley,
36:13
Speaker 3: so Kanauh County schools probably would go on a two
36:15
Speaker 3: hour delay for tomorrow morning. There's the potential that they
36:18
Speaker 3: do go ahead and roll in a cancellation. But at
36:22
Speaker 3: this point I would project a two hour delay, same
36:25
Speaker 3: thing across parts of Putnam County, Jackson, stretching back out
36:29
Speaker 3: into Clay County, and also into sections of Fayette, Raleigh
36:34
Speaker 3: and also Boom County.
36:35
Speaker 4: But then we're going to be done with it next week. Right,
36:37
Speaker 4: it's over. Winter's over, right, right? Right?
36:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, as much as I would like to say that, no,
36:45
Speaker 3: we do have a winter is taking its sweet time
36:48
Speaker 3: and spring will be a late spring. And I've had
36:51
Speaker 3: people say what the length spring, Well, it just means
36:54
Speaker 3: it's going to be colder for longer as we go
36:57
Speaker 3: into spring, and it's going to take us while to
36:59
Speaker 3: really get to the warm up. So we got to
37:01
Speaker 3: wait till deep into the spring before we start the
37:03
Speaker 3: season of that. So the water on the rivers and
37:06
Speaker 3: the lakes are going to be colder than they should
37:07
Speaker 3: be going into spring. But you know, hey, you wanted
37:10
Speaker 3: to get rid of a drought, so we did. Unfortunately
37:13
Speaker 3: we just didn't in one big, grand fashion.
37:15
Speaker 4: All right, all right, Brian, as always, it's a pleasure
37:19
Speaker 4: to talk to you. I want you to come back
37:20
Speaker 4: on to talk about regatta. I want you to come
37:22
Speaker 4: back on to talk about baseball, and I want you
37:23
Speaker 4: I don't want you to talk about winter anymore. So
37:26
Speaker 4: hopefully I'm gonna go. Hopefully this is the last time
37:28
Speaker 4: I talked to you unless it's about those things. Okay,
37:31
Speaker 4: Well we'll see what week in that.
37:32
Speaker 8: Well we can do.
37:33
Speaker 3: We're trying to book our acts right now. We're doing
37:35
Speaker 3: fundraising and getting ready. We're adding new things to the regatta.
37:38
Speaker 3: And guess what boat.
37:40
Speaker 11: Right boat right?
37:42
Speaker 4: Boat rides cool? Sounds good, sounds good right now. I'll
37:45
Speaker 4: take it, Brian, I appreciate it. Glad you're off the
37:47
Speaker 4: boat man. We'll talk to you soon. Thanks a lot.
37:50
Speaker 4: Sounds good, Brian Houston, Storm Tracker thirteen. Yeah, it just

38:46

Speaker 4: West Virginia only care about the r behind the name Texas.
38:59

40:39
Speaker 4: woefully ignorant of the real problems that have affected alcoholics, addicts,
40:43

40:46

40:54
Speaker 4: Virginia is last in most categories because folks like you
40:56
Speaker 4: and others didn't support President Trump and put America First
41:01
Speaker 4: policies back in November. Thanks. So West Virginia has last
41:05
Speaker 4: in everything because people didn't support President Trump. So it
41:10
Speaker 4: only happened since, you know, last year, since twenty sixteen.
41:16
Speaker 4: I've been pretty fair about this. West Virginia's problems cannot
41:19
Speaker 4: be blamed on one person or one party and anybody.
41:22
Speaker 4: And again I've been fair about this. Anybody that thinks
41:24
Speaker 4: that the problems West Virginia has started with Donald Trump,
41:27
Speaker 4: you are wrong. And anybody that says that the problems
41:30
Speaker 4: West Virginia has went with any party are wrong. There's

41:36

Speaker 4: the text repointing that out. I want to throw something
46:21
Speaker 4: a little personal out here for a moment, if you
46:23
Speaker 4: allow me to. I learned last night of the death
46:25
Speaker 4: of someone who has literally been a part of my
46:28
Speaker 4: life since shortly after I was born. My family originally
46:31
Speaker 4: from West Virginia. My dad was in the military. We
46:34
Speaker 4: were living in Georgia. I was born in Georgia and
46:36
Speaker 4: then we moved back to West Virginia. I became very
46:38
Speaker 4: close with the Coger family. Cog A r out of
46:43
Speaker 4: the Man area of Logan County. They had a son
46:45
Speaker 4: who was just a few months older than I was,
46:48
Speaker 4: and he and I went through the crib days together
46:51
Speaker 4: in the first day of kindergarten, et cetera, et cetera.
46:54
Speaker 4: His name was an old coger, and he and I
46:57
Speaker 4: still touch base when we can. I learned last night
46:59
Speaker 4: that father Noel s passed away. And I bring this
47:03
Speaker 4: up because, through the miracle of modern technology, mainly online
47:06
Speaker 4: listening through the website and or the app, he listened
47:10
Speaker 4: to the show every morning from his home in Wyoming County.
47:14
Speaker 4: He was retired mid seventies. A great man, practically a
47:18
Speaker 4: second father to me, as I said, And he listened
47:22
Speaker 4: to the show as I said, from his home Wyoming
47:24
Speaker 4: County every day, frequently would comment on things, and always
47:28
Speaker 4: followed me on social media. He's a great man. So
47:33
Speaker 4: I just want to kind of throw that out there.

48:00
Speaker 4: majority will bring West Virginia and the country out of
48:03
Speaker 4: this mess and last place on everything. Get on board, Dave.
48:08
Speaker 4: You know I am. I am a conservative for the
48:10
Speaker 4: most part. I am. I just have an issue with
48:16
Speaker 4: a lot of the time we spend on social issues,
48:19
Speaker 4: conservative policies.
48:20
Speaker 16: On board.
48:22
Speaker 4: I'm concerned about my bank account, That's what I'm concerned about.
48:25
Speaker 4: I'm concerned about paved roads. I'm concerned about the military.
48:28
Speaker 4: But when it comes to this other stuff that we
48:30
Speaker 4: spend so much time arguing about many times, that's not
48:33
Speaker 4: even an issue in West Virginia. Yeah, I do. I
48:37
Speaker 4: do get a little bit upset by that. Let's go
48:42
Speaker 4: live to the Capitol now. I think we've got Dave
48:44
