- 0:00Speaker 1: We don't talk about bruning. No, it was my wedding.
- 0:06Speaker 1: It was a wedding day. That ship is fire, dude,
- 0:10Speaker 1: Lynn Learning get nominated for the Oscars. It didn't get nominated. No,
- 0:16Speaker 1: they chose um the end credit songs like mistakes. I'm
- 0:21Speaker 1: gonna just put it out there right now to Oscars
- 0:22Speaker 1: and making some real big mistakes right now. The fact
- 0:25Speaker 1: that Spider Man, the number one movie of all time,
- 0:28Speaker 1: wasn't nominated for Best Picture is some bullshit. Because all
- 0:32Speaker 1: of the people that went and bought tickets for these
- 0:35Speaker 1: movies or said movies, they didn't watch that ship. They
- 0:38Speaker 1: all went and watch Everybody saw spider Man. Everybody saw
- 0:40Speaker 1: Spider Man. Everybody loves spider Man. People saw Spider Man once, twice,
- 0:45Speaker 1: three times, and Oscars didn't even give it a Best Picture.
- 0:48Speaker 1: The people at the Oscars saw Spider Man over and
- 0:50Speaker 1: over again. It's bullshit. Man best movie of the year,
- 0:53Speaker 1: spider Man, okay, choices best movie of the year, best movie.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck one anyway. You can say
- 1:01Speaker 1: whatever you want to say, but such it such did
- 1:04Speaker 1: such a great job. I'm gonna care spider Man best
- 1:06Speaker 1: movie of the Year. That's like when Star Wars was
- 1:08Speaker 1: nominated for Best Movie of the Year and it didn't
- 1:10Speaker 1: win Star Wars Best Movie of the Year, spider Man
- 1:13Speaker 1: Best Movie of the Year. Well, what the feedback is
- 1:17Speaker 1: for your show, Alabama Jackson. Great feedback. The feedback has
- 1:22Speaker 1: been so positive, and the fans have said you first
- 1:26Speaker 1: of all, all you fake doctor's real friend to Mosey
- 1:29Speaker 1: doing down the YouTube and decided to click on the
- 1:33Speaker 1: Alabama Jackson site on the adult Swim YouTube page. I
- 1:38Speaker 1: totally appreciate you. Thank you so much. And for those
- 1:41Speaker 1: of you who put the nice comments in there, thank
- 1:44Speaker 1: you so much. To you haters. Come on, bro, come on, buddy,
- 1:49Speaker 1: right budding YouTube hate comments. It's like the worst place
- 1:52Speaker 1: in the world, dude, I'm not. It's like it's like
- 1:54Speaker 1: one out of every Oh, you're you're hunting for him,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I'm hunting. It's hard to find. It's hard to fine.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I'm sure after this they'll be like, well fuck you
- 2:02Speaker 1: didn't Donald I say something. But the feedback has been great,
- 2:08Speaker 1: and now you know, and this is what not a
- 2:10Speaker 1: lot of promotion. I mean really, only the promotion that
- 2:12Speaker 1: we've had so far has been our podcast and you know,
- 2:18Speaker 1: my Instagram Zach's Instagram and you guys' is Instagram and
- 2:21Speaker 1: you know social media accounts. That's pretty much it seth
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know everybody else's. You know, we've all contributed, but
- 2:28Speaker 1: you know, the feedback that we're getting from what we've
- 2:30Speaker 1: thrown out there is so great, and so I want
- 2:31Speaker 1: to thank everybody. So will Adult Swim start to push
- 2:34Speaker 1: it out a little bit, put some money behind promoting
- 2:36Speaker 1: it because that makes a big difference. Yes, So for
- 2:40Speaker 1: the premiere of Robot Chicken. Actually they're going to put
- 2:43Speaker 1: a promo up on the actual Adult Swim channel when
- 2:48Speaker 1: Robot Chicken premieres this weekend. So cool. It'll have already
- 2:51Speaker 1: happened after we had this conversation, will be after it.
- 2:55Speaker 1: But I'm very excited about that. So thank you Adult
- 2:58Speaker 1: Swim for that. Very proud of you, dude, Very proud
- 3:00Speaker 1: of you are all. Then, I didn't go hunting like
- 3:03Speaker 1: you did for anything negative. All I saw was positive
- 3:06Speaker 1: comments of people just praising the animation and saying that
- 3:12Speaker 1: it was really clever and smart. And you know, my
- 3:17Speaker 1: favorite thing, thank you, Zach. My favorite thing that's happened
- 3:19Speaker 1: out of this is that I've read comments like you know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I didn't so far. I didn't know that this happened,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and I actually went and looked it up. So like
- 3:28Speaker 1: a lot of people didn't know about the Greensboro sitting,
- 3:31Speaker 1: and people went and looked it up. You know, we
- 3:33Speaker 1: have an episode out today about the Olympic protests where
- 3:38Speaker 1: Tommy and John did the fists up in the air
- 3:43Speaker 1: and they'd only had one pair of gloves, so one
- 3:45Speaker 1: has it on his right hand and the other one
- 3:47Speaker 1: has it on his left hand. We tackled that today.
- 3:50Speaker 1: A lot of people didn't know about that. So it's like,
- 3:52Speaker 1: you know, it really feels good to be giving people
- 3:55Speaker 1: like little tiny jewels of knowledge just to you know,
- 4:00Speaker 1: and you can run with it. You can either look
- 4:01Speaker 1: it up and go down to rabbit hole or you can,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you know whatever. I'm just happy that people are watching
- 4:07Speaker 1: Alabama Jackson, So thank you very much. Yeah, I'm happy
- 4:10Speaker 1: for you. Man. You're you're you're a show creator. I
- 4:13Speaker 1: have created a show, and it's so hard to create
- 4:16Speaker 1: something and put yourself out there and work that hard
- 4:20Speaker 1: and also be vulnerable with like saying, hey, I put
- 4:25Speaker 1: everything I had into this, and I know the interwebs
- 4:28Speaker 1: and the globe is going to judge it now, but
- 4:31Speaker 1: you know you got to put yourself out there or
- 4:33Speaker 1: else what the fuck is the point of being an
- 4:35Speaker 1: artist exactly? And this is my first time doing that,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and I'm really you know, nothing's gonna stop me from
- 4:42Speaker 1: doing it again, obviously. I mean, well, look how we'll look.
- 4:45Speaker 1: How happy it makes you. It's it's so clearly, so
- 4:48Speaker 1: clearly lights you up. Every time you talk about stop
- 4:50Speaker 1: motion animation and your whole face changes, your body language changes,
- 4:53Speaker 1: you get all all it up. I get crazy. Thank
- 4:58Speaker 1: you guys for helping we promote it too. I really
- 5:01Speaker 1: appreciate it, and I want to thank you, Joel. I
- 5:03Speaker 1: just want to touch briefly on thank you so much
- 5:06Speaker 1: for your beautiful uh intro about my manager and friend
- 5:10Speaker 1: Chris Yuvane, who I lost a suicide um last week.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I had to sit out, So thank you for for
- 5:20Speaker 1: doing I believe Seth Green stepped in that correct, Seth
- 5:24Speaker 1: Green stepped in a lot of people. We had a
- 5:27Speaker 1: lot of people come in to try and fill your shoes, buddy,
- 5:29Speaker 1: We had a lot of my mom. My mom came through,
- 5:31Speaker 1: Bert through like it was crazy. Well, I just want
- 5:35Speaker 1: to briefly say that I lost someone very special to me.
- 5:40Speaker 1: He's someone that you know, from the outside, you would
- 5:43Speaker 1: think had it all. His career was on fire, his
- 5:46Speaker 1: relationship was good, he just bought a new house. He
- 5:50Speaker 1: loved motorcycles and had an insane motorcycle collection. And I
- 5:54Speaker 1: knew that he was suffering from depression. I didn't. I
- 5:58Speaker 1: had no idea it reached the suicide level, and he
- 6:02Speaker 1: was hiding that for me, and and so you just
- 6:06Speaker 1: never know what people around you are suffering and where
- 6:09Speaker 1: they're at, and it was It's very painful because I
- 6:14Speaker 1: loved him a lot. I love him a lot. And
- 6:19Speaker 1: I just wanted to mention the Suicide Hotline if you
- 6:21Speaker 1: are someone who has this on your mind at all,
- 6:24Speaker 1: or you have someone in your life who might have
- 6:27Speaker 1: this on their mind. It's in the United States. It's
- 6:31Speaker 1: eight hundred two seventy three eight two five five. Again,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's eight hundred two seven three eight two five five.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I also wanted to say that the Suicide Prevention Lifeline
- 6:44Speaker 1: has a new thing that's happening, because I was just
- 6:46Speaker 1: doing some research on announcing. This isn't fully rolled out
- 6:49Speaker 1: until July sixteenth of this year, but in some places
- 6:54Speaker 1: it is so dialing nine eight eight, we'll bring you
- 6:58Speaker 1: directly to the line. And so I so write that
- 7:05Speaker 1: down again if you have anyone in your life who
- 7:07Speaker 1: you're worried about, or you are someone who's having suicidal thoughts. UM.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It specifies on the website that it isn't totally universally
- 7:15Speaker 1: United States until July sixteenth, twenty twenty two, so it
- 7:19Speaker 1: might not be fully operational in your area. In that case,
- 7:22Speaker 1: use eight hundred two seventy three eight two five five,
- 7:25Speaker 1: But by mid July, just dialing ninety eight will bring
- 7:29Speaker 1: you to a specialist and a counselor. And and you
- 7:33Speaker 1: can find also on their website if you go to
- 7:36Speaker 1: the Suicide Prevention Lifeline dot org. There's so much information
- 7:42Speaker 1: you can they have. They have specific categories for veterans,
- 7:46Speaker 1: or for attempt survivors or LGBTQ plus people youth. UM
- 7:52Speaker 1: it's an amazing resource, not just for those suffering from
- 7:55Speaker 1: this disease of depression, but also for those around them
- 7:58Speaker 1: who are who are so worried about them. That's a
- 8:02Speaker 1: good I have a question to ask because recently someone
- 8:07Speaker 1: said something that kind of triggered in my mind, Oh,
- 8:11Speaker 1: is this person thinking about suicide. How would you approach
- 8:17Speaker 1: someone about calling this number? Though, well, I'm not I'm
- 8:21Speaker 1: not a counselor, so I feel a bit weird answering,
- 8:24Speaker 1: And I will just say that the way that I
- 8:27Speaker 1: dealt with Chris was to always listen, and um, you know,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I've dealt with depression in my own life. I've never
- 8:32Speaker 1: been I've blessed to have never been as depressed as
- 8:38Speaker 1: thinking about taking my own life, but I have battle depression,
- 8:41Speaker 1: and so I would often just listen. And I think
- 8:44Speaker 1: that's the best thing you can do is listen to someone. Obviously,
- 8:47Speaker 1: if they start expressing suicidal thoughts, you need to take
- 8:51Speaker 1: some sort of action, specifically if it's if it's imminent.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But with Chris, I never had any of that. We
- 8:58Speaker 1: would I would listen to him. I would talk about
- 9:00Speaker 1: things that have worked for me when I was really
- 9:02Speaker 1: really down. But you know, yeah, it's like a disease.
- 9:06Speaker 1: The person is suffering so bad sometimes that that it's
- 9:09Speaker 1: as though you're saying, oh, you've got a cancerous tumor
- 9:12Speaker 1: in your stomach, take it out. Why don't you just
- 9:14Speaker 1: take it out? Come on, man, exercise take out the
- 9:17Speaker 1: cancerous tumor. In your in your pancreas. Um, they can't.
- 9:21Speaker 1: It is a mental disease that, um that is so
- 9:26Speaker 1: painful that that sometimes for some people it is just
- 9:29Speaker 1: hard to see continuing on and and and the thing
- 9:33Speaker 1: we have to do is love them and surround them
- 9:35Speaker 1: and do everything we can so that they take steps
- 9:39Speaker 1: that could save them. But some people, UM, like my
- 9:44Speaker 1: like my friend Chris just aren't weren't savable. I really
- 9:48Speaker 1: like Chris Van most. If you ever hear you know,
- 9:52Speaker 1: if you looked at all of the you know, the outpouring,
- 9:55Speaker 1: everybody liked Chris Man. He was such a good dude,
- 9:58Speaker 1: you know what I mean, U bring your birthday and
- 10:00Speaker 1: spending hours in a pool talking about rap with him,
- 10:04Speaker 1: how much he was into hip hop music and loved
- 10:07Speaker 1: hip hop, loved you know. He represented Chadwick Boseman before
- 10:11Speaker 1: he passed, and I think that was a big, big
- 10:14Speaker 1: loss for him. A lot of times when people are suffering,
- 10:17Speaker 1: then something happens that can even bring them to a
- 10:21Speaker 1: to a lower state. And I think that the Chadwick,
- 10:23Speaker 1: he was very close with Chadwick, and he represented Chadwick,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and I think that was a big, big loss for him. Um,
- 10:32Speaker 1: But Yes, he loved rap, he loved hip hop, grew
- 10:35Speaker 1: up in New York down Um, loved tats, he was
- 10:38Speaker 1: covered in tats. Loved motorcycles. He had the sickest motorcy
- 10:42Speaker 1: He has the sickest motorcycle collection. And he's just a
- 10:46Speaker 1: great guy, just an amazing, humble, loving person. When you
- 10:52Speaker 1: had something going on in your life, you could bet
- 10:54Speaker 1: he was going to be the first person to text
- 10:56Speaker 1: you and check in on you. And he had the
- 10:59Speaker 1: most loved family. It wasn't like this guy was like
- 11:02Speaker 1: left alone. You know, he had surrounded by loving family
- 11:06Speaker 1: that we're doing anything and everything they could. You know,
- 11:10Speaker 1: money was no problem. So there were they were trying
- 11:13Speaker 1: any you know, they were trying any drug, they were
- 11:15Speaker 1: trying any experimental treatment. There's apparently a new treatment. I
- 11:19Speaker 1: don't really know much about it, but I guess they
- 11:20Speaker 1: did a sixty minutes thing on it. Maybe too while.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You could look it up for me what it's called.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But it's in the spirit of a cat scan. It's
- 11:27Speaker 1: sort of magnets that spin around your skull. That has
- 11:30Speaker 1: shown some success for people who are really, really, really
- 11:34Speaker 1: dangerously depressed. And he was, and he was going to
- 11:39Speaker 1: start trying that but didn't didn't make it to that,
- 11:42Speaker 1: all right, So Joel, you say you found out what
- 11:44Speaker 1: that thing I'm talking about what the magnets is. Yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 1: it's called transcranial magnetic stimulation or TMS. If you want
- 11:50Speaker 1: to do some more research on it. I've had a
- 11:52Speaker 1: couple of friends whom you battle OCD or depression who've
- 11:56Speaker 1: tried talk therapy and pills and all kinds of things
- 11:59Speaker 1: and said I saw a great like change after doing this. Um,
- 12:03Speaker 1: it's not too invasive, it's pretty quick. So UM, if
- 12:07Speaker 1: you want to learn more about it, transcranial magnetic stimulation, Yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 1: that's some state of the art stuff that's happening. But
- 12:13Speaker 1: if you're someone who's suffering, or you know someone who's suffering,
- 12:16Speaker 1: look into it because, and I believe, if I'm not mistaken,
- 12:19Speaker 1: sixty minutes to this piece on it, that you could search. Um,
- 12:23Speaker 1: it's definitely at the forefront of research for severe depressives.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So thank you, Joelle Zach. I'm so sorry, man, I
- 12:30Speaker 1: still hear the pain in your voice. Yeah, it's hard.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry. If i'm a little bit, I'm gonna let
- 12:34Speaker 1: you take a little more to lead this show. I
- 12:36Speaker 1: wanted to come back and laugh with our fans and
- 12:38Speaker 1: say I love you guys and thank you for your
- 12:41Speaker 1: support and um and just be with you. But but yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: I'm still hurting a bit inside. It's it's it's it's
- 12:50Speaker 1: not something you get over too quickly. But we will
- 12:54Speaker 1: segue as we always do. Um, what the hell was
- 12:58Speaker 1: this episode? This episode was nuts out of control. I know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I don't even think it was that good. I think
- 13:03Speaker 1: it's one of those that was not that good. But
- 13:06Speaker 1: it might just be my mood. No, no, let's let's
- 13:09Speaker 1: let's let's I want to five six, seven eight. So
- 13:12Speaker 1: we changed tones. Okay, I am not going to or
- 13:15Speaker 1: through this whole episode. I love you all. Let's get
- 13:19Speaker 1: into five stories about Sure, we made a lot of
- 13:26Speaker 1: nurses stories never yet around here yet around You know
- 13:44Speaker 1: what it really helped me change tones is talking about, um,
- 13:47Speaker 1: the success of our Super Bowl at donald Yeah, oh
- 13:51Speaker 1: my god, number two most UM searched. Now, I would
- 13:55Speaker 1: have never guessed that number two most searched. I would
- 13:59Speaker 1: have never that, which, which I'm told through my ad friends,
- 14:02Speaker 1: is the most important metric, which is the one that
- 14:04Speaker 1: people seek out the most. Now we were second only
- 14:07Speaker 1: to Sculet Johansson, arguably the biggest movie star in the world.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I would not have guessed Donald that we would have
- 14:13Speaker 1: been number two. I'm gonna tell you something right now.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Individually we are great, but I'm gonna tall you something
- 14:20Speaker 1: right now. Together, we are like a diad in the force.
- 14:24Speaker 1: It's unique and powerful. Dude, I'm telling you right now.
- 14:29Speaker 1: They check on us when it's you, they check on
- 14:31Speaker 1: us when it's just me, But when it's us together, right,
- 14:36Speaker 1: oh my god, it's like, what's that dude's name. That's
- 14:38Speaker 1: surfer guitar player Jack Johnson. It's always better when we're together.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I'm telling you, bro. Are we thinking we're like the
- 14:48Speaker 1: Wonder Twins? No? No, no, no, no no yeah. Why
- 14:52Speaker 1: why aren't we like the Wonder? Because I don't want
- 14:54Speaker 1: to form of anything. No, I don't want to say
- 14:58Speaker 1: shape of um no, but I I agree, and I
- 15:03Speaker 1: just I'm not just bullshitting. I honestly thought, like with
- 15:06Speaker 1: all those stars and all those ads, like hopefully people
- 15:10Speaker 1: would like it. As of today, which is the seventeenth
- 15:13Speaker 1: of February, it has thirty six million views on YouTube,
- 15:19Speaker 1: which is insanity. Yeah, I feel like puty put Pew
- 15:23Speaker 1: what's his name, Dane, I feel like Pauty Pie. He's
- 15:29Speaker 1: a streamer with a lot of views, right, Daniel M.
- 15:31Speaker 1: He's got a one hundred million subscribers on YouTube. Yeah,
- 15:34Speaker 1: there you go. I feel like Puty Pie. One hundred
- 15:36Speaker 1: million subscribers. Pauty Pie. Book a brother up um. But
- 15:42Speaker 1: it was fun singing with you, my friend, and we
- 15:44Speaker 1: had fun shooting it, and it was great watching it.
- 15:48Speaker 1: And I just love that everybody loved it. And if
- 15:50Speaker 1: you haven't seen it, hey go add more views. Go
- 15:52Speaker 1: to YouTube and search Zack and Donald T. Mumbile commercial.
- 15:57Speaker 1: It's I'm gonna be honest with you, man, I'm I've
- 16:00Speaker 1: talked about it with you before. I'm stuck singing that song.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I'm stuck singing all of the attributes that this T
- 16:06Speaker 1: mobile device has. You know, throughout throughout my house, there's
- 16:10Speaker 1: no hidden fees, no price hikes, one chord, you know
- 16:14Speaker 1: what I mean, Like all of the all of the
- 16:16Speaker 1: positive attributes that that thing has. Well, what's clever about
- 16:19Speaker 1: what's clever about that Diddy, is that it gets stuck
- 16:22Speaker 1: in your head and when you're singing the words, you're
- 16:25Speaker 1: singing all the pros of their products. Literally, what a jingle?
- 16:30Speaker 1: What a jingle? It worked? Yeah, And there's a minute
- 16:33Speaker 1: long I hope that they release because obviously the thirty
- 16:36Speaker 1: second was for the super Bowl because it's so expensive.
- 16:39Speaker 1: But I really hope they released a minute long version
- 16:42Speaker 1: because we it felt even better as a minute long spot.
- 16:46Speaker 1: We got we got to sing more. Obviously, obviously we
- 16:48Speaker 1: got to sing more. But I will say this, that
- 16:50Speaker 1: thirty second spot came out great. It did, it did.
- 16:53Speaker 1: It's a hard to pack A lot of the funniest
- 16:55Speaker 1: part of shooting that you guys was We're sitting on
- 16:57Speaker 1: in this neighborhood and we have like those two porches
- 17:00Speaker 1: right next to each other, both with chairs, you know,
- 17:02Speaker 1: And I lean over to Donald like, I can you
- 17:04Speaker 1: imagine if we live like this, like how greatly be?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Like I'm not talking like down the street. I'm talking
- 17:09Speaker 1: like I'm on my porch with my morning coffee year round,
- 17:12Speaker 1: in your porch with your morning blunt, and we are
- 17:17Speaker 1: just I have to stop smoking weed, dude, Man, I'm
- 17:20Speaker 1: telling you, man, it's over again. You've said that before, Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but this time it's health wise. Man. I got sick
- 17:27Speaker 1: and I kept smoking weed and that ain't smart. You
- 17:30Speaker 1: got a problem, Yeah, well not anymore. Now I'm on
- 17:34Speaker 1: a break. I'm on a break. I'm gonna Ross and
- 17:38Speaker 1: Rachel break from Weed. I gotta grow my mustache back
- 17:41Speaker 1: for a role. Oh nice, mystery, I got a mysterious
- 17:49Speaker 1: little acting job happening. And oh, speaking of being my
- 17:51Speaker 1: own publicist. Um, March eighteenth, guys, put it in your calendars,
- 17:57Speaker 1: please mark it down. Please, guys, I'm asking you right now.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Cheaper by the Dozen is coming to Disney Plus Yeah
- 18:07Speaker 1: baby and uh and Donald and Casey Cobb and their children.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I just invited to the Cheaper by the Dozen premiere. Hey, Joel,
- 18:17Speaker 1: you could probably use your press credentials and get an
- 18:19Speaker 1: invite and bring Daniel as your date. I might could
- 18:22Speaker 1: let me see what I can do if you can't,
- 18:26Speaker 1: if you can't, tell me, and I'll get you in
- 18:28Speaker 1: through my peep. I'd love to have you there. Okay,
- 18:30Speaker 1: sweet of you, but um but I'm very excited, So
- 18:34Speaker 1: please put it in your eyekel for for for me
- 18:38Speaker 1: and gab Union and a bunch of kids making you laugh.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Mark This episode was a fucking mess, man. I don't
- 18:43Speaker 1: know I get the episode. It might be just that
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'm in a sensitive, cranky mood, and I apologize to
- 18:49Speaker 1: the audience. Please please have some empathy and understand. But
- 18:52Speaker 1: I do think this episode was a hot mess. Episode
- 18:55Speaker 1: one and episode two of season six so far have
- 18:58Speaker 1: been whackyer, way wackier than season five. When I say
- 19:02Speaker 1: way wackier, I mean way wacky, dude. At one point
- 19:05Speaker 1: in this show, I have blue makeup on my hand
- 19:09Speaker 1: with fake ice to make it look like my hand
- 19:12Speaker 1: is frozen. Do you remember that movie like the Santa Claus.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Do you remember when they got the Santa Claus three,
- 19:17Speaker 1: and like Martin Short was in it, as as as
- 19:21Speaker 1: as Jack Frost and the and the and the costume
- 19:25Speaker 1: he had on for Jack Frost. It was like blue
- 19:28Speaker 1: makeup with like little uh, fake ice coming out of
- 19:32Speaker 1: his skin and stuff like that. That's what my hand
- 19:33Speaker 1: looked like. For those of you who remember, you know
- 19:35Speaker 1: exactly what I'm talking. Well, I have to say I
- 19:38Speaker 1: there were there were a couple funny things, but I
- 19:40Speaker 1: did I just didn't under I mean, obviously they were
- 19:42Speaker 1: dealing with babies. It was babies, baby's babies all over
- 19:44Speaker 1: the place. Jade and Camer trying to decide whether to
- 19:47Speaker 1: keep their baby or not. That we learned happened without
- 19:50Speaker 1: any intercourse. Um, there was some seamen that accidentally landed
- 19:55Speaker 1: in an out lying area, probably the vagina lip. Yeah,
- 20:01Speaker 1: on the on the volgina. Call it the vulva, the
- 20:06Speaker 1: vulva lip. From what I understand, the correct term is
- 20:10Speaker 1: vagina lip. No, I don't think that's accurate. Joell Um,
- 20:13Speaker 1: can you google if you don't know. I believe it's
- 20:16Speaker 1: I believe it's vulva I'm correct, right, yes, yeah, volva donald,
- 20:24Speaker 1: it's vulva lip or just well, I don't know if
- 20:26Speaker 1: doctors use the term lip, but vulva lip is more
- 20:29Speaker 1: accurate than what is Labia majora on the outside and
- 20:34Speaker 1: the alabia manora on the inside. Yeah, so no, not
- 20:39Speaker 1: not labia manora, although I would love a Labia minor
- 20:43Speaker 1: if anyone wants to give me one. Um, no Labia majora.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I believe that the semen probably landed somewhere on the
- 20:55Speaker 1: Labia majora. And one of those aggressive guys made his
- 20:58Speaker 1: way in. He was like, like, you know how kangaroos
- 21:01Speaker 1: um They give birth and then the kangaroos have to
- 21:04Speaker 1: climb up into the pouch. Do you know about that? Wait?
- 21:08Speaker 1: Hold on, the grown man kangaroo climbs up into no no, no.
- 21:12Speaker 1: A female kangaroo will give birth to minuscule little and
- 21:17Speaker 1: then then they have a journey from the I assume
- 21:20Speaker 1: the kangaroo vagina um up up to up into the
- 21:27Speaker 1: pouch where they will get milk. So it comes out
- 21:30Speaker 1: of the vagina onto the lip. Daniel, please check my facts.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I already have. I already have Joel on many other assignments.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I believe that the kangaroo um thing little. It's not
- 21:43Speaker 1: done yet. It's like a little it's like this, it's
- 21:45Speaker 1: like an inch big, and it comes out of whatever
- 21:47Speaker 1: area we'll call it the vagina lip, we'll call it
- 21:51Speaker 1: the labia minoa. The kangarounds okay, and then and then
- 21:56Speaker 1: it's that little thing's job to climb them up into
- 22:01Speaker 1: to go on a journey up the kangaroo to get
- 22:05Speaker 1: into the pouch where I believe the nipples for milk
- 22:09Speaker 1: are Have you ever looked inside of a kangaroo pouch?
- 22:13Speaker 1: When you know? When the funk when I have an opportunity,
- 22:17Speaker 1: Oh it's not cozy. I always pictured to cozy, like
- 22:19Speaker 1: a sleep like a bone in there or some shit
- 22:22Speaker 1: like that, Like it's nasty. Daniel, why do you look
- 22:25Speaker 1: so furrowed? I'm pretty accurate in this. You're accurate. It's
- 22:29Speaker 1: just a when I look this up and I searched
- 22:31Speaker 1: how do kangaroos before I even got the rest of
- 22:34Speaker 1: the world out, it was areborn so big, big search
- 22:37Speaker 1: energy over here, and the first link I found just
- 22:41Speaker 1: had some very you know, graphic wraps and so well,
- 22:44Speaker 1: if you guys want to look this up on YouTube,
- 22:46Speaker 1: it's very interesting, yes, I mean you. But anyway, what's
- 22:49Speaker 1: what's interesting is some of these I don't know how
- 22:52Speaker 1: many they give birth to. Maybe that's in Daniel's article,
- 22:54Speaker 1: but they have to imagine one or two. I don't
- 22:57Speaker 1: know Joey's. They're called Joey's that joy or the baby.
- 23:01Speaker 1: But anyway, they have to they have to. Oh my god,
- 23:04Speaker 1: you made a awesome joke. A lot of our viewers
- 23:06Speaker 1: are not going to get that. A lot of our listeners. Anyways,
- 23:09Speaker 1: you have to. It's the it's the Joey's job to
- 23:12Speaker 1: make it up into the pouch to survive, and some
- 23:14Speaker 1: of them don't make it on the journey. Your your
- 23:17Speaker 1: facts are accurate. Let's take a break. We'll be right
- 23:20Speaker 1: back after these fine words. Okay, So Carla's in labor um, yes, okay,
- 23:33Speaker 1: so we should talk about this. Jack is calling a
- 23:36Speaker 1: lady fat in the beginning out of the episode, what
- 23:38Speaker 1: a little shit. Yeah, he's an asshole. Well, I think
- 23:41Speaker 1: part of the episode is that they're being those type
- 23:44Speaker 1: of parents that think it's funny when their kids says
- 23:46Speaker 1: inappropriate mean shit, which, um, which the arc of the
- 23:51Speaker 1: episode is by the end they end up saying something
- 23:54Speaker 1: very sweet to him, and maybe they're going to start
- 23:55Speaker 1: changing their way of being around their kid, right, Yes,
- 23:59Speaker 1: And then you guys make an abortion joke right in
- 24:02Speaker 1: the beginning of the opening of the show, like yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 1: but in the cold opening it you think it's they're
- 24:08Speaker 1: talking about aborting their baby, but they're actually talking about
- 24:12Speaker 1: eating a slice of pizza. Well, I think you know,
- 24:15Speaker 1: in what every year this was, Bill was trying to
- 24:19Speaker 1: push the envelope of what you could do and what
- 24:21Speaker 1: you could say on network TV, and of course even
- 24:23Speaker 1: discussing abortion. It's such a hot button issue. Discussing it
- 24:28Speaker 1: on a network TV comedy hot button issue, and I
- 24:32Speaker 1: think he was trying to be brave and discuss real
- 24:35Speaker 1: topics that come up in people's lives on the show. So, yes,
- 24:40Speaker 1: he was definitely being edgy at the time. Yeah, Elizabeth
- 24:45Speaker 1: Banks is back, which is really awesome. I didn't laugh
- 24:48Speaker 1: a lot in this episode. I left a couple of times.
- 24:49Speaker 1: One of times it left hard was when we have
- 24:51Speaker 1: the collegiate drum line and we start doing the ass
- 24:54Speaker 1: smacking dance in the air and you smack, and then
- 24:57Speaker 1: I turned to you, and if you look at some
- 24:58Speaker 1: of the band members are laughing their asses off because
- 25:01Speaker 1: we were just clearly improving, but they're like holding in
- 25:04Speaker 1: their laughs as I'm like smacking, You smack my ass
- 25:07Speaker 1: and I jump yeah to the beat, to the beat,
- 25:12Speaker 1: and then we both look at camera as you continue
- 25:14Speaker 1: to smack my ass. Now, Miguel the drummer really really
- 25:19Speaker 1: uh didn't want fries, I guess because I was very
- 25:22Speaker 1: I was very specifically, were very clear. It was very
- 25:25Speaker 1: it was very clear. I mean I really said, look,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna cut you out of the fries, and he
- 25:30Speaker 1: fucking drummed again. He kept going. I remember shooting that.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I remember I remember shooting all of that that that
- 25:38Speaker 1: I do remember shooting. I do remember the drum line.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I remember thinking that was funny. Um at the time. Um,
- 25:46Speaker 1: Now the prayer worked, we are God. God answered our
- 25:51Speaker 1: prayer and a dog brought Carlo's bag to our feet. Yes,
- 25:57Speaker 1: but then some sketchy guys stole the bag and we
- 25:58Speaker 1: never knew. Yes. If this is the first mention of blurred, right,
- 26:02Speaker 1: is this the first time you use the term blurred?
- 26:05Speaker 1: I believe so. I'm not sure because they didn't know
- 26:08Speaker 1: what it was. But I thought you might have called
- 26:09Speaker 1: me a blurred earlier on and I was like, I
- 26:12Speaker 1: like it. But yeah, but did we make up the
- 26:15Speaker 1: term blurred? Or is blue? We made that up? We
- 26:18Speaker 1: literally made that up. If that is an urban dictionary
- 26:20Speaker 1: and once you know it's because of us, just like
- 26:22Speaker 1: keeping a reel was made up by yours truly anyway,
- 26:26Speaker 1: And Black and Black Stormtrooper and Black Stormtrooper Star Wars.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Let's see what they will steal from Donald next. Ye,
- 26:34Speaker 1: how pissed are you gonna be when fucking Kevin Figgy
- 26:36Speaker 1: announces um Alabam Jackson movie, It's coming, It's coming now.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Ted is going to film Carla's birth and he accidentally somehow,
- 26:55Speaker 1: I mean, this is like very early in the interwebs.
- 26:58Speaker 1: He accidentally live streams it to the live streams it
- 27:02Speaker 1: to the whole hospital, and the whole hospital is watching. Yeah,
- 27:08Speaker 1: everybody's watching the lives so much so that Kelso hitch record,
- 27:12Speaker 1: Kelso records. Todd says it's the greatest show ever. Yes,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and then Todd runs into the room and to tell
- 27:19Speaker 1: her that she has a nice vagina. There, So, Carla,
- 27:22Speaker 1: there was something I wanted to tell you. Oh yeah,
- 27:25Speaker 1: nice vagina. He says, great vagina, great vagina, great vagina.
- 27:31Speaker 1: And Kelso calls, uh, this little boy's shirt gay at
- 27:36Speaker 1: one point. Yeah. Yeah, he was like, you've got wrinkly skin.
- 27:40Speaker 1: He goes in your shirts gay. Yeah, you could make
- 27:43Speaker 1: that joke. Can you make it now? I don't think so.
- 27:46Speaker 1: You cannot. I don't think you can make that now. No,
- 27:49Speaker 1: you cannot. A lot of baby talk, baby, baby baby.
- 27:53Speaker 1: We finally have sex Elizabeth Banks and I and well,
- 27:56Speaker 1: no Turk, I mean j D and and and what
- 28:00Speaker 1: was her character's name, Jadie and Kim have sex. Yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 1: it is how it sounded. We finally had sex Elizabeth
- 28:08Speaker 1: Banks and I. We didn't. Yes, let me clarify. I
- 28:11Speaker 1: meant the characters and her BedHead. Her sex head was
- 28:17Speaker 1: really funny. Yes, I guess you know at that point
- 28:20Speaker 1: it's like I got you pregnant, like let's let's really
- 28:23Speaker 1: do it. Yes, apparently it was good sex. Did you
- 28:26Speaker 1: Did you catch Tarran in the in this Arran and
- 28:28Speaker 1: his partner No, So you know Terran column is Yeah,
- 28:34Speaker 1: he has a whole giant arc and this is this
- 28:38Speaker 1: is back when he was doing an internet thing with
- 28:41Speaker 1: his buddy. Go back somewhere in the show when you
- 28:45Speaker 1: guys are walking down the hall, when you and Elizabeth
- 28:48Speaker 1: are walking down the hall. There it's either you and
- 28:50Speaker 1: Elizabeth or you and I. They're in the background looking
- 28:53Speaker 1: over their shoulders at us. And this was before S
- 28:56Speaker 1: and L. This is before maybe after Mad TV, but
- 29:00Speaker 1: before SNL. Tarn got to go back and look for it. Okay,
- 29:04Speaker 1: well it is. Bill had a show. It was a
- 29:06Speaker 1: pilot and it was going to be a mix of
- 29:09Speaker 1: it was it was. It was trying to be a
- 29:10Speaker 1: mix of reality TV and a real TV show. I
- 29:13Speaker 1: forgot what it's called. And it didn't go beyond pilot.
- 29:17Speaker 1: But the idea was that the guys had Tarn and
- 29:20Speaker 1: his partner had snuck onto the scrub set or something,
- 29:23Speaker 1: and so there was going to be all this like
- 29:25Speaker 1: interwoven shit, and that must be what that was. Yeah,
- 29:29Speaker 1: it was. It was. I remember running into them like
- 29:33Speaker 1: on a press line and they were either crashing the
- 29:37Speaker 1: press line or something, and I remember taking a picture
- 29:40Speaker 1: with them, and that was pretty much it. And I
- 29:43Speaker 1: remember Tarn saying thank you to me. Then all the
- 29:46Speaker 1: years later after he blew up and everything like that,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I ran into him at Comic Con and I hadn't
- 29:50Speaker 1: seen him since he was on scrubs. I was like,
- 29:53Speaker 1: hey man, and he was with moynahand he was with Bobby,
- 29:56Speaker 1: who's a buddy of mine. He was with a bunch
- 29:57Speaker 1: of the cast and they going and he stopped and
- 30:01Speaker 1: turned around and we had a little bit of a conversation.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And this was at the height of the well. For
- 30:07Speaker 1: those of you who don't know what we're talking about.
- 30:08Speaker 1: He played Jimmy the overly touchy intern, right, yes, or
- 30:13Speaker 1: Billy Touchy Orderly, the overly touchy Orderly and then he
- 30:17Speaker 1: and then he and he as the rare person who
- 30:19Speaker 1: was both on Mad TV and SNL Yes, was anybody else?
- 30:24Speaker 1: I don't know? All I know is he. I remember
- 30:26Speaker 1: when he was when he was eighteen years old, maybe
- 30:28Speaker 1: seventeen years old. Was Jim Carrey e vernessanil no, no,
- 30:33Speaker 1: but he was on in Living Color. Sorry, I'm conflating
- 30:35Speaker 1: in Living Color. When he was seventeen years old, we
- 30:40Speaker 1: did a movie together called Big Fat Liar. He might
- 30:42Speaker 1: have even been younger than that. He claims he was seventeen.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I think he was younger, and I remember him saying
- 30:47Speaker 1: to me. I remember asking him, well, dude, you know
- 30:51Speaker 1: what do you want to do? What do you you
- 30:52Speaker 1: know you want to be a stand up? What is
- 30:54Speaker 1: it that you want to do. He's like, you know
- 30:55Speaker 1: what I really want to do? I really want to
- 30:56Speaker 1: be on SNL And bam, here he is. You manifested
- 31:01Speaker 1: that shit. Manifested that for real? For real. Man, I
- 31:03Speaker 1: didn't even have I didn't even have a number two
- 31:07Speaker 1: most liked a super Bowl commercial on my whiteboard. Now
- 31:11Speaker 1: that's just this. This just came out of this came
- 31:14Speaker 1: out of the I don't know, dude, I don't know
- 31:16Speaker 1: how this happen yet the universe tunnel. Um all right,
- 31:20Speaker 1: so then, um, we know that JD has a Beanie
- 31:23Speaker 1: Baby collection and on His prose for having the child
- 31:28Speaker 1: as opposed to aborting it or giving it up for adoption,
- 31:31Speaker 1: is that he won't feel embarrassed about his beanie baby
- 31:35Speaker 1: collection any longer. Do you remember beanie babies? I've never
- 31:39Speaker 1: There's a documentary that just came out about the about
- 31:42Speaker 1: the craze of beanie babies. Um, I do remember them.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I never was a collector of I ever bought a
- 31:47Speaker 1: single one. I'm proud to say. Have you ever bought
- 31:50Speaker 1: a single beanie baby and thought you had value and
- 31:52Speaker 1: put it in a glass case? I had a couple
- 31:54Speaker 1: of I did have a couple of beanie babies? Did
- 31:56Speaker 1: you keep them in plastic cases? I did not strike
- 31:59Speaker 1: me someone who might still have something? I don't. Um,
- 32:03Speaker 1: that wouldn't surprise me if I did. I had a handful.
- 32:07Speaker 1: We bought them at the cracker barrel. At the cracker barrel. Yes,
- 32:12Speaker 1: come on, mid West, the crack of barrels. Only see
- 32:18Speaker 1: cracker barrel. When I go to Marlin, Texas, right outside
- 32:21Speaker 1: of Marlin, Texas, and apparently they're about to order order,
- 32:24Speaker 1: They're about to bring one up here. Uh, ain't nobody
- 32:28Speaker 1: gonna eat buffet? Ain't nobody ain't no buffet. It's the
- 32:32Speaker 1: perfect spot for brunch, do they The buffet is the
- 32:37Speaker 1: thing that everybody comes for. Though in the middle, I
- 32:39Speaker 1: don't know that Cracker Barrel has a buffet, which is
- 32:42Speaker 1: the one with the buffet Golden Corral, Golden Corral, we wild.
- 32:47Speaker 1: I've never Well, the buffet is fifty dollars. All I
- 32:52Speaker 1: needed some bananas. Go ahead and take the banana. Banana. Well,
- 32:57Speaker 1: the buffet is fifty dollars. Damon Wayams. You just take
- 33:02Speaker 1: these bananas. You go ahead and take them bananas. I
- 33:05Speaker 1: wanted to ask you Beanie babies. Yeah, people, really, there's
- 33:08Speaker 1: a doc that just came out if you're curious that
- 33:11Speaker 1: explains the whole craze um and I'm gonna watch it
- 33:13Speaker 1: because it was one of those things that was just
- 33:16Speaker 1: it was like it was like, um, cabbage Patch kids
- 33:18Speaker 1: when we were young, like a phenomenon like Beaniemania. What
- 33:24Speaker 1: is that what it's called beanie mania, pani Mania on
- 33:26Speaker 1: HBO Max. Yeah, there you go, Beanie Mamia. Beaniemania on
- 33:28Speaker 1: HBO Max talks about people going crazy. So anyway, um, now,
- 33:33Speaker 1: just in the unicorn um, my favorite part, this is
- 33:39Speaker 1: the best part of the show. Yeah, this is the
- 33:41Speaker 1: this is by far the funniest phone the episode. She's like,
- 33:44Speaker 1: let's split up and and and think of this on
- 33:46Speaker 1: our own then and and go of this on our
- 33:47Speaker 1: own and and and what is it? What does she say? Yeah,
- 33:50Speaker 1: something like, let's go, let's go think. Let's go think
- 33:53Speaker 1: on our own somewhere. What do you Where do you go? No?
- 33:56Speaker 1: And and she walks away, and you go, where are
- 33:58Speaker 1: you going? She goes, I'm just gonna walk around the hospital.
- 34:01Speaker 1: What about you? Do you? Where do you go? Yeah?
- 34:03Speaker 1: And then it cuts to me. I'm sitting on on
- 34:05Speaker 1: stuffed you know. You know what I'm sitting on. You're
- 34:07Speaker 1: you're standing in front of it first, looking at it
- 34:09Speaker 1: in your unicorn Joe you dont him? Yeah? At some
- 34:15Speaker 1: point yeah, yes, I mount him and m and I
- 34:19Speaker 1: go and then it cuts back and I go, I
- 34:21Speaker 1: go someplace wonderful and then and then it cuts back
- 34:28Speaker 1: and then this is uh, you say, did you go?
- 34:32Speaker 1: Did you? Did you? Ask Justin? And I say, this
- 34:35Speaker 1: is way over. Justin said he's never been in love,
- 34:37Speaker 1: not really love anyway, dude. I laughed so hard. I laughed, Yeah,
- 34:44Speaker 1: I laughed. Now Justin we know that I also have
- 34:47Speaker 1: on my on my on my Unicorn journal, and he's
- 34:50Speaker 1: there to protect your dreams, hopes and dreams. So when
- 34:56Speaker 1: Keith showed up, I was like, what the heck is
- 34:59Speaker 1: Keith doing here? But it was obvious so he could
- 35:01Speaker 1: say that he wears a diaper. It was just for
- 35:03Speaker 1: the diaper joke. Okay, what about how we learned Leonard?
- 35:07Speaker 1: This is how Leonard lost his hand in the ice machine. Yes,
- 35:11Speaker 1: now Leonard has he had a hand, He had a hand. Well,
- 35:16Speaker 1: Leonard didn't have a hand. He lost in the ice
- 35:17Speaker 1: machine and he got five million dollars from that. I'm
- 35:20Speaker 1: still decided to go back to work, back to work
- 35:23Speaker 1: as a as a as A as a security guard,
- 35:26Speaker 1: as a security guard. Yeah, now it's very confused. I
- 35:30Speaker 1: think he's there. I think he's there just for the ass. Oh,
- 35:33Speaker 1: because he does well with what's her name? Does well
- 35:35Speaker 1: with the ladies at the house. Well, I know he's
- 35:37Speaker 1: committed to what's her name? I do like me some
- 35:40Speaker 1: white meat. That's his what's her name? The senior citizen?
- 35:44Speaker 1: In turn, I don't remember Gloria. Gloria, sorry everyone, everyone.
- 35:49Speaker 1: All the mega fans were yelling that at their No,
- 35:52Speaker 1: all the mega fans were yelling that at their devices.
- 35:54Speaker 1: It's called it's called fan interaction. Do you know how
- 35:57Speaker 1: many people across the globe we're screaming Gloria at the radio.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna say at least ten. Yeah. So wait, so
- 36:04Speaker 1: Leonard is loaded, is the point, and he he just
- 36:07Speaker 1: works there to get asked from Gloria because he he
- 36:11Speaker 1: does not need five mil. No. So there's something that
- 36:15Speaker 1: happens to Turk where Elliott steals his thunder. Yes, I'm
- 36:19Speaker 1: gonna be honest with you. I don't mind when people
- 36:22Speaker 1: steal my thunder because then it means less work for me.
- 36:25Speaker 1: But you know, I guess Turk in this moment, really
- 36:29Speaker 1: and I understand that really wanted to be there for
- 36:31Speaker 1: his wife who was delivering the baby, right, But sometimes
- 36:35Speaker 1: people steal your thunder and you're like, thank you, thank
- 36:37Speaker 1: you for taking all of this pressure off of me.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I appreciate it, you know, yeah yeah, But I mean
- 36:42Speaker 1: it's your wife and she's having a baby, and Elliott
- 36:44Speaker 1: was kind of upstaging and she was like doing everything,
- 36:47Speaker 1: and you're like, come on, let me be the hero husband.
- 36:49Speaker 1: When you finally get to have your moment because your
- 36:51Speaker 1: your ice hand is so cold, right, my, my, my,
- 36:56Speaker 1: clearly makeup with blue and white makeup painting. Yeah, icehand.
- 37:05Speaker 1: We learned that Jordan had abortion. Um, yes, again, I
- 37:11Speaker 1: think Bill was trying to introduce that being okay for
- 37:17Speaker 1: a beloved character. You know, this was the time when
- 37:20Speaker 1: this was way more taboo to talk about. It still
- 37:22Speaker 1: is today obviously because it's such a polarizing topic. But
- 37:26Speaker 1: but again, I thought that was good of him to,
- 37:30Speaker 1: you know, make a beloved character like Jordan come out
- 37:33Speaker 1: and talk about her experience with abortion and doctor Cox's
- 37:38Speaker 1: this is what was doctor Cox's parenting skills in this
- 37:44Speaker 1: are so suspect in this episode until the very end. Yeah,
- 37:49Speaker 1: but saying these things to your child at a very
- 37:53Speaker 1: young age, it's very damaging, and you will, you know
- 37:56Speaker 1: what I mean, especially on purpose. But you could you
- 37:59Speaker 1: laugh when you're kids say outrageous shit. Yeah, but I
- 38:02Speaker 1: don't laugh at my kid. If my kids walking around
- 38:04Speaker 1: talking about my mommy had an abortion. My mommy had
- 38:06Speaker 1: an abortion, you know what I mean? Like, that's that's
- 38:09Speaker 1: that's well. I think the Cox had a Cox had
- 38:12Speaker 1: a minor part in this episode, and and I think
- 38:15Speaker 1: his his mini arc was was him realizing that because
- 38:18Speaker 1: he ends it by saying something so sweet to the
- 38:21Speaker 1: child about how babies are made. So his his mini
- 38:24Speaker 1: arc was maybe he's gonna stop talking to the child
- 38:27Speaker 1: so so provocative, provocatively and rudely. Um Leonard clapping with
- 38:34Speaker 1: his hook hands. Oh man, I wrote that down too.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Oh my god, I wrote that down too. The character
- 38:40Speaker 1: Randall really made a choice that uh that that Leonard
- 38:44Speaker 1: would be like really clapping hard with that hook. He
- 38:46Speaker 1: could hurt himself. Yeah, he could literally cut his other hand.
- 38:51Speaker 1: His his, his good hand, I should say his, his,
- 38:56Speaker 1: his actual hand, his his his his question. All right, well,
- 39:02Speaker 1: then you dragged the ice machine over to the delivery room,
- 39:06Speaker 1: which would be impossible if everybody knew how the hospital
- 39:08Speaker 1: was actually set up in real life. Right now, Kelso,
- 39:12Speaker 1: because he had to pay out five million to Leonard
- 39:14Speaker 1: put in release he released. Now. I'm just curious that
- 39:17Speaker 1: none of your friends, including me, searched for the emergency
- 39:20Speaker 1: release button while this such thing as an emergency release.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I'm sure everyone must have looked around. What that ship
- 39:32Speaker 1: was so out of line? It was like, first of all,
- 39:34Speaker 1: you get your hand caught in the in the in
- 39:36Speaker 1: the Candy Machine too. This was like a this was
- 39:38Speaker 1: a retread, right, the guest is here. We're gonna talk
- 39:42Speaker 1: to the guests and we're gonna take a quick break
- 39:45Speaker 1: and we'll be right back. And we're bad, all right.
- 39:55Speaker 1: What do we have for us today? Joel? Oh someone special? Oh?
- 40:02Speaker 1: Play that song, yo, it's about to get real Star
- 40:07Speaker 1: Wars up in here. Play that song. You can talk,
- 40:14Speaker 1: you know, like a bottom some jazz maybe talking about
- 40:20Speaker 1: the episode. So come on, let's get the show ladies
- 40:26Speaker 1: and gentlemen, give it up for you. Guys have meant before.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Remember when you did the Exes. Yeah, I was the
- 40:42Speaker 1: hair department head on the Exes. Oh great, So I'm
- 40:45Speaker 1: assuming that I'm putting two and two together that you
- 40:49Speaker 1: must be working on something Star Wars related. Quite possibly, Yes,
- 40:54Speaker 1: quite possibly, Yes, my ass, let's get into it. What
- 40:58Speaker 1: what shows have you worked on the Star Wars universe.
- 41:02Speaker 1: I've done the Mandalorian in those seasons, and the Book
- 41:05Speaker 1: of Boba Fetts and uh, we'll be doing the Mandalorian
- 41:10Speaker 1: season three, and Asoka is in the works as well. Yeah.
- 41:17Speaker 1: And you're the you're the you're the hair department head
- 41:20Speaker 1: or you're just in the hair department. What do you
- 41:22Speaker 1: do now? I'm the department head of the design design,
- 41:26Speaker 1: all of the all of the lift, Oh my goodness,
- 41:30Speaker 1: Nick Shan's hair, all of that stuff. Wow, Donald, you
- 41:34Speaker 1: must be so geeked out your dough. Oh no, We
- 41:36Speaker 1: we DM each other all the time. She's a huge
- 41:39Speaker 1: fan of our podcast, and you talk about we talked.
- 41:42Speaker 1: You know, this is the person who the only person
- 41:44Speaker 1: who I spilled the beans too. And when the podcast
- 41:46Speaker 1: was coming back, we surprised everybody. Maria knew first. Yeah,
- 41:51Speaker 1: well I gotta tell you too, Thank you. Um. I
- 41:57Speaker 1: just want to know, um, I don't think you mentioned
- 41:59Speaker 1: that you do will be one? But will Hayden questions
- 42:02Speaker 1: and have his long braided tail? I can answer. Can
- 42:11Speaker 1: you tell us Maria? We won't tell anyone else. We'll
- 42:13Speaker 1: just bleep it out. Joel, I'm gonna have to watch
- 42:19Speaker 1: them find out. I don't know that. It's so good
- 42:23Speaker 1: to see your face. It's good to see yours too.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I miss you, miss you too, I miss our chats.
- 42:29Speaker 1: We had such a good time together. We did have
- 42:31Speaker 1: a great so Maria. For people who love um behind
- 42:34Speaker 1: the scenes stuff and of course zillions of people who
- 42:37Speaker 1: love the Star Wars universe, how does explain to them?
- 42:41Speaker 1: And there might be some people who you I'm sure
- 42:43Speaker 1: there's people you have their dream job. How does it
- 42:45Speaker 1: begin for a character? Will it be a character sketch
- 42:50Speaker 1: or do you sketch what the hair might be? How
- 42:52Speaker 1: does how does the process begin? Um? For example, on
- 42:55Speaker 1: an episode of Mandalorian and there's a new character. Well,
- 42:58Speaker 1: on these shows, um, everything is pretty well fleshed out
- 43:02Speaker 1: by the time we even we even get hired. Um,
- 43:05Speaker 1: They've got a huge crew of people that do pre
- 43:08Speaker 1: visualization and um uh sketches and there's a whole you know,
- 43:12Speaker 1: design skipe that we can go into and see the
- 43:14Speaker 1: sketches of people. And so that's serve a jumping off point.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I guess basically the ideas of the you know, the directors,
- 43:22Speaker 1: the producers and the designers that they bring in and
- 43:25Speaker 1: then once the actor comes into play. We we discussed
- 43:29Speaker 1: that and and go from there and something stay very
- 43:32Speaker 1: similar and something change, you know, and how big will
- 43:36Speaker 1: your department be on a show like Mandalorian in terms
- 43:40Speaker 1: of all the people that are that are both on set,
- 43:44Speaker 1: offset the people, the crafts people that are building the wigs,
- 43:47Speaker 1: like how many people will work on a show like that.
- 43:50Speaker 1: In the hair department, I have a permanent crew of three,
- 43:53Speaker 1: but on any given day it can be I mean,
- 43:56Speaker 1: I think we've had sixteen or seventeen. But as far
- 44:02Speaker 1: as building, um, I designed and build almost everything myself. Wow,
- 44:08Speaker 1: of what you see on screen has been designed and
- 44:10Speaker 1: built by mean, Oh my god, how do you have
- 44:12Speaker 1: the time? I would think that that would be he's
- 44:14Speaker 1: a lot of sleepless nights. I don't ever see my kids.
- 44:17Speaker 1: That's well, you knew when you took the job. You knew.
- 44:22Speaker 1: I asked her permission to take the job. I told her,
- 44:26Speaker 1: I said, I, you know, I'm offered this job and
- 44:28Speaker 1: I'm not going to see you for a while. She said, Mom.
- 44:30Speaker 1: At Star Wars you gotta do well. I mean, ever
- 44:35Speaker 1: since I've known you, you've been a Star Wars fan.
- 44:37Speaker 1: You've given my daughter Star Wars t shirts that's your
- 44:41Speaker 1: daughter once wore. And so yeah, yeah, it's the same thing.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I would leave my kids for at least five years
- 44:49Speaker 1: if I could. If I was promised good health and
- 44:52Speaker 1: they were, and I could guarantee that they would promise
- 44:54Speaker 1: good health, I'd leave them too. A piece out now, Donald,
- 44:57Speaker 1: do you have a or jewel or or Daniel Um?
- 45:01Speaker 1: Do you have a favorite hair or wig style of
- 45:05Speaker 1: any of these characters? Um that you want? Well, Phi
- 45:08Speaker 1: Shan's hair is really if you really look at it,
- 45:11Speaker 1: it's really are. It's like it's got braids in it.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It's a long braid. It's like there's a lot to it,
- 45:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean. She could wear it up.
- 45:20Speaker 1: She hasn't really she hasn't. Uh, she could wear it down.
- 45:23Speaker 1: She hasn't really done that yet, but she could wear
- 45:25Speaker 1: it up up, you know what I mean. I want
- 45:27Speaker 1: to see Phenick Shan, and I want to see Phenishan
- 45:29Speaker 1: outside of her freaking armor and stuff like that. We
- 45:34Speaker 1: saw Boba Fette in the white suit jumpsuit. I'd like
- 45:37Speaker 1: to see Phoenix Shan relaxing. It seems like she's always
- 45:41Speaker 1: in the war. So my favorite, my favorite hair design
- 45:43Speaker 1: is Phenick Shan and I and I know you had
- 45:45Speaker 1: something to do with the Soca's head dress. Also, if
- 45:49Speaker 1: I'm correct, Soca's No, that's all legacy, that's all. That's
- 45:53Speaker 1: all the makeup department, they they make all that stuff.
- 45:55Speaker 1: All we do what we do for Rosaria is put
- 45:57Speaker 1: her in a wig cap in the morning and then
- 45:59Speaker 1: and then she us to make it from there on out.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I don't did you have any fun with her? But yeah,
- 46:02Speaker 1: Sunnic stand is a great one because when she came in,
- 46:06Speaker 1: she didn't really have any particular ideas except that as
- 46:09Speaker 1: an assassin, she wanted her hair to be contained and
- 46:11Speaker 1: you know, and out of her way. So we kind
- 46:15Speaker 1: of came up with an idea that incorporated like some
- 46:17Speaker 1: braids that look like little fox ears, because she's a
- 46:19Speaker 1: she's a fox, and we thought she was going to die,
- 46:22Speaker 1: so we just did this really intricate thing that we
- 46:25Speaker 1: thought we'd only have to do for four episodes or whatever,
- 46:27Speaker 1: and then they didn't kill her. So now all of
- 46:29Speaker 1: a sudden, we have to do it every day, right,
- 46:32Speaker 1: Oh goodness, How long does it take to to do that?
- 46:37Speaker 1: I've figured out a method. I'm pretty crafty that way,
- 46:40Speaker 1: and I've I figured out a method where we don't
- 46:42Speaker 1: have to use all of her own hair, and so
- 46:44Speaker 1: it takes up about forty five minutes now. But I
- 46:46Speaker 1: think the first first couple of first couple of times
- 46:48Speaker 1: we did it, it took about an hour and a half.
- 46:50Speaker 1: How about you Joel, do you have a favorite? Um
- 46:52Speaker 1: Um another one and also the Luke Skywalker wig wholely shit,
- 47:03Speaker 1: not the first time, the second time, thank you perfect?
- 47:07Speaker 1: It was perfect. Yeah, Donald knows how that hair falls,
- 47:11Speaker 1: hair my hair. But still, I mean it looked just
- 47:13Speaker 1: like Return of the Jedi, just like it background character.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I really like it's a simple hairstyle, but I think
- 47:21Speaker 1: it's so evocative of like her character z Omea from
- 47:26Speaker 1: episode four, season one of The Mandalorian. I just really
- 47:30Speaker 1: like that character so much. I really hope she pops
- 47:32Speaker 1: back up eventually. I'd like to see her again too.
- 47:36Speaker 1: M'd be fun to go back to that planet. That
- 47:38Speaker 1: planet was all that planet was was fun for us
- 47:40Speaker 1: because we did like basket weave braids and we used
- 47:43Speaker 1: like a you know, homemade yarn that we've gotten on
- 47:46Speaker 1: the internet, and everything was real kind of organic. There's
- 47:49Speaker 1: been some rumors that Grogu is actually a diva. Um
- 47:55Speaker 1: can you attest to this? Well, he does have five
- 47:58Speaker 1: people that travel with him everywhere he goes. You can't
- 48:00Speaker 1: work without those rolls. Deep like Donald, he needs he
- 48:04Speaker 1: needs five guys with him at all time. Now, M Maria,
- 48:07Speaker 1: do you have any questions for us you are a
- 48:08Speaker 1: fan of the show. UM, any anything we can answer
- 48:11Speaker 1: for you, since you've been so lovely answering questions for
- 48:13Speaker 1: for my favorite geek blurred. I was curious about, um,
- 48:19Speaker 1: some of the some of the more intense hair and
- 48:21Speaker 1: makeup gags that you guys had on the show. UM,
- 48:26Speaker 1: just which ones were your favorite and uh and whether
- 48:30Speaker 1: you enjoyed the process of getting getting transformed. I'll do
- 48:34Speaker 1: anything a lot. You also had some amazing You also
- 48:38Speaker 1: had some amazing people, you know. Uh, one of the
- 48:41Speaker 1: people on your Who department, head of your hair show
- 48:44Speaker 1: and in the hair department, Um, Gloria Kasney Uh now
- 48:48Speaker 1: works with Johnny Tapp. I mean she does amazing, amazing work.
- 48:51Speaker 1: You had some really great talents. We had an all
- 48:54Speaker 1: star team, and I was I was the victim of
- 48:56Speaker 1: a lot of these ones that would take like eight
- 48:58Speaker 1: hours or six hours sometimes, UM, but it was always
- 49:02Speaker 1: worth it. They always came out funny. I think the
- 49:04Speaker 1: most elaborate was when they turned Johnny into the Grid.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Remember that one. And they did a very good job
- 49:13Speaker 1: with that. That took forever. Um. There's an episode where
- 49:15Speaker 1: where um where Sarah's ice hands. This was early I
- 49:18Speaker 1: think maybe even season one or two, UM turned me
- 49:22Speaker 1: totally frozen into icicles, and I remember that took a
- 49:26Speaker 1: very long time. And I think the tattoos of Julianna
- 49:30Speaker 1: Marguli's on my body took a very long time. UM
- 49:36Speaker 1: and bald caps um, you know, take it take some
- 49:39Speaker 1: time to make look good. I've never had to wear
- 49:42Speaker 1: one of those. For some reason, I wonder why it's
- 49:44Speaker 1: built in. Donald had a series of series of high
- 49:47Speaker 1: top fades, though the whole series of it started off
- 49:52Speaker 1: where we did we Are on the Exes was really
- 49:56Speaker 1: nice though that was it looked like an actual high
- 49:58Speaker 1: top fade. Then we've had on scrubs were like one year.
- 50:03Speaker 1: The first time I had a fade, they put the
- 50:04Speaker 1: hair on me, it was like all messed up on
- 50:07Speaker 1: the side and stuff like that, like the and the
- 50:08Speaker 1: and the wig didn't fit so well. It had to
- 50:10Speaker 1: be it had to be rigged so that you could
- 50:12Speaker 1: pull your hair out. Because I got Jordan tickets. That
- 50:15Speaker 1: wasn't the first time. That was the second time. The
- 50:17Speaker 1: first time isn't a pilot. They actually tried to make
- 50:19Speaker 1: a fade hairstyle for me and then they were like,
- 50:22Speaker 1: we're just gonna give him a wig, and the wig
- 50:24Speaker 1: was pre cut and all I would literally do was
- 50:27Speaker 1: put the wig on and that was it. There was
- 50:28Speaker 1: no freaking blending or anything. It was literally Donald put
- 50:32Speaker 1: it on right before we go, and that's it. Well, um, yeah,
- 50:37Speaker 1: we have amazing We did a good one on the access.
- 50:39Speaker 1: We had time with that, Yeah, we did. Um how
- 50:42Speaker 1: about another question? Do you have another question for us? Oh? God,
- 50:45Speaker 1: I mean I have so many Scrubs related questions. You
- 50:49Speaker 1: don't need to have one. We could fix your life.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Do you want us to fix your life? I do
- 50:53Speaker 1: need I do need my life fixed. All right, Well
- 50:56Speaker 1: it's time for well, where does Mandalorian take place? Don't
- 51:01Speaker 1: it takes place in the Star Wars galaxies? Right now,
- 51:04Speaker 1: give me a fucking planet. We're gonna go into Varrow. Okay,
- 51:10Speaker 1: it's time for Navarro's favorite section of the podcast. It's
- 51:14Speaker 1: time to fix your lie. So I am um as
- 51:24Speaker 1: because I am now part of Star Wars universe, I
- 51:27Speaker 1: am having to do a lot of not public speaking
- 51:30Speaker 1: that I'm being interviewed a lot and I'm being quoted
- 51:33Speaker 1: a lot. And um, I'm not a person who does
- 51:37Speaker 1: well on camera. I get very nervous and I tend
- 51:42Speaker 1: to babble and uh, I'm about to present an award
- 51:48Speaker 1: this weekend to my boss in front of a large
- 51:52Speaker 1: crowd of people, which boss and uh rhymes with jan chamabro.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Oh oh wow. Okay, wow, that's exciting. Well, first of all,
- 52:04Speaker 1: congratulations on being chosen to give up an award to
- 52:07Speaker 1: John Favrou. All right, so you're giving him an award,
- 52:17Speaker 1: go on, Uh, it's in front of my peers. It's
- 52:19Speaker 1: a it's a guild award for the Hairstyles and Makeup
- 52:22Speaker 1: Artist Guild and we're presenting him with a Distinguished Artistan Award.
- 52:25Speaker 1: And um, I have to stand up in front of
- 52:29Speaker 1: you know, all of my peers and uh in you
- 52:32Speaker 1: know auditorium actually the Beverly Hilton and read from a
- 52:35Speaker 1: teleprompter and I'm just I'm dreading it. Well, are they
- 52:40Speaker 1: going to give you a chance to practice? Donald and
- 52:42Speaker 1: I have both done this, okay, Um, no, do you
- 52:45Speaker 1: have do you know what you have to say yet?
- 52:48Speaker 1: I've written it, so I've I've got it. Okay. Well,
- 52:51Speaker 1: one thing is I would say is make sure it's
- 52:53Speaker 1: on your person in case there's a problem with the prompter.
- 52:56Speaker 1: That's what I would do. Yeah, they said I could
- 52:59Speaker 1: also read if I want, which might be easier for me.
- 53:01Speaker 1: And looking at people, I think if you get out
- 53:04Speaker 1: first of all, they say, the number one uh fear
- 53:07Speaker 1: in human beings is public speaking. So you're not alone.
- 53:11Speaker 1: This is someone. This is a very very popular fear
- 53:14Speaker 1: of for for the human race. Um, because we're all
- 53:19Speaker 1: afraid of making a fool. Yeah, that's Billy, that's Billy pacing. Um.
- 53:26Speaker 1: I would say, Um, if you genuinely get up there
- 53:29Speaker 1: and feel so nervous, it's okay to say I'm nervous.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I'm not usually um in this position. But then segue it,
- 53:38Speaker 1: but I'm so honored that I get to be in
- 53:41Speaker 1: this position because of John's amazing work. I think people
- 53:44Speaker 1: in the audience really relate to that, because they maye
- 53:47Speaker 1: be nervous to be up there, you know, if they're
- 53:49Speaker 1: not a professional public speaker. So if you if you
- 53:52Speaker 1: if you're feeling nervous and you're handshaking, and you're and
- 53:54Speaker 1: you're and you're really in your head at that moment,
- 53:57Speaker 1: it's fine to say I have to admit a little nervous.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I'm not usually the one up at the podium. But
- 54:04Speaker 1: I'm so honored that I was asked to present this
- 54:09Speaker 1: to such an amazing visionary. Like, use it because that'll
- 54:12Speaker 1: give you a chance to just get settled and also
- 54:14Speaker 1: make the audience on your side, because if they're not actors.
- 54:18Speaker 1: And by the way, even if some of them are actors,
- 54:21Speaker 1: they're just as afraid too. I've done it a bunch
- 54:24Speaker 1: of times. I'm always nervous when I'm about to go
- 54:26Speaker 1: out and read a teleprompter. So I just think that
- 54:28Speaker 1: that's a way that you can kind of get related
- 54:30Speaker 1: with the audience. You might not need it. You might
- 54:32Speaker 1: get out there and be feeling like, Okay, I got this.
- 54:35Speaker 1: But if you get out there and you're, you know,
- 54:38Speaker 1: feeling extra edgy, it might be it might be a
- 54:42Speaker 1: good idea. I would say definitely, don't drink. Some people think, oh,
- 54:45Speaker 1: alcohol will loosen me up. That's a bad idea. No,
- 54:48Speaker 1: don't do that. No, no, no. I was gonna say,
- 54:51Speaker 1: whatever you do, don't wing it. But it sounds like
- 54:54Speaker 1: you've written down everything that you need to write down
- 54:56Speaker 1: and you're pretty much yeah, yeah, then you're that. I do.
- 55:00Speaker 1: As far as nerves go, let use it, like Zach said,
- 55:03Speaker 1: that's what I always do, and sometimes the audience does
- 55:06Speaker 1: find that endearing. You know, your nervous energy is relatable.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Everybody feels it, you know, Yeah, because everyone's everyone's been there.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Everyone's thinking, oh, i'd be so nervous if I was
- 55:17Speaker 1: up there, Especially if you're in a room with people
- 55:19Speaker 1: that aren't professional public speakers, right, they'd think, Oh, she's brave,
- 55:24Speaker 1: she's she's doing this. She's introducing Jon Favreau like this,
- 55:27Speaker 1: like visionary guy, Um, Joel, are you any thoughts on
- 55:31Speaker 1: the matter. You you do some public speaking, Yeah, I
- 55:35Speaker 1: would say, if you can, I'd prefer to like take
- 55:38Speaker 1: ten minutes before I'm going to go on and like
- 55:41Speaker 1: do some deep breathing before and just like really get
- 55:44Speaker 1: centered and and think about like, Okay, this is what
- 55:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, this is my if I know, my
- 55:48Speaker 1: opening line. Usually once I'm past that, it's just it's
- 55:51Speaker 1: just happening and it's fine. You're in it. Yeah, I
- 55:55Speaker 1: would say, you just try to get away from everybody
- 55:57Speaker 1: and sent her and get steady, and then once you're
- 55:59Speaker 1: out there and speaking, you're like, oh, this is much
- 56:01Speaker 1: easier than I built it up in my mind to
- 56:03Speaker 1: be I find I think people also really relate to,
- 56:09Speaker 1: you know, things like this is like, I just feel
- 56:12Speaker 1: so honored to be able to do this and and
- 56:17Speaker 1: to give affirmation to someone who's who's changed my life
- 56:20Speaker 1: and giving me an opportunity to work on these legendary shows.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I mean, I guess I'm segueing now into what you're saying,
- 56:26Speaker 1: which you've already worked on. But but I just think,
- 56:30Speaker 1: you know, people will relate to that. I you know,
- 56:34Speaker 1: one of my first times ever doing any type of
- 56:36Speaker 1: public speaking was when I was younger, but in Hollywood
- 56:41Speaker 1: in front of a bunch of people, was for Zach.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Actually I had to and you know, I had to
- 56:45Speaker 1: present him with a award for Young Holly was like
- 56:49Speaker 1: the Young Hollywood Awards, and I presented Zach and I
- 56:53Speaker 1: had to write the speech myself. You prepare it. Oh,
- 56:56Speaker 1: I did prepare it. I freaking I worked really really
- 56:59Speaker 1: hard on it too, and it was almost like, you know, uh,
- 57:03Speaker 1: it was almost like an outer body experience because once
- 57:06Speaker 1: it started, I would, like Drewell said, I was in it,
- 57:10Speaker 1: and then every and then it was over, and I
- 57:12Speaker 1: was like, what just happened? You know what I mean?
- 57:16Speaker 1: And uh, I did so well at the speech that
- 57:19Speaker 1: they invited me back the next year to host the
- 57:22Speaker 1: awards ceremony. And but well, this time the stakes were
- 57:26Speaker 1: a lot higher. I wasn't just presenting anything to somebody
- 57:30Speaker 1: who I loved already. That's easy to do when you
- 57:32Speaker 1: like somebody, it's easy to present an award. Now, jet
- 57:35Speaker 1: Apatow's in the audience, Leslie Mann's receiving award, Chris Mint's
- 57:39Speaker 1: places receiving an award, uh, Paul Rudd's coming out, Jonah
- 57:44Speaker 1: Hills coming out, and it's like, this is just after
- 57:46Speaker 1: forty year old virgin. You want to talk about nerves.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Holy shit. I think at one point in the in
- 57:52Speaker 1: the in the in the ceremony, I asked jet appataw
- 57:55Speaker 1: for a job. I was like, yeah, it got that bad.
- 57:58Speaker 1: It got that bad. Dude got that bad. Donal Donald's
- 58:01Speaker 1: not great around celebrities. He not he panicked. That's a difference.
- 58:07Speaker 1: I don't like to be on display. I didn't even
- 58:09Speaker 1: get married in front of people. I just, you know,
- 58:12Speaker 1: that's why it's tough for me. I think it's a
- 58:15Speaker 1: testament to your work. I think you need to just
- 58:17Speaker 1: I think you need to build yourself up by saying
- 58:20Speaker 1: it is clearly a testament to your work. Um, and um,
- 58:25Speaker 1: it's such an honor. I mean, what a cool thing. Um,
- 58:28Speaker 1: there's a reason why I show how many people in
- 58:30Speaker 1: your industry would would love this honor and and and
- 58:35Speaker 1: just put your shoulders back and go out with that
- 58:37Speaker 1: confidence that that you were chosen and um, and you're
- 58:40Speaker 1: supposed to be there because you're a fucking badass and right, well, yeah,
- 58:45Speaker 1: and I think it's really cool. It's a moment that
- 58:47Speaker 1: you'll remember for the rest of your life, regardless even
- 58:51Speaker 1: if but even if you're nervous, just just just say it.
- 58:54Speaker 1: People love that. It's like, you know, you've been on sitcoms,
- 58:57Speaker 1: so you're saying, now, what are they What is the
- 58:58Speaker 1: audience love most when fuck up up? Yeah? They laugh
- 59:02Speaker 1: with you. If you're in a play, you know, the
- 59:04Speaker 1: audience loves most when you fuck up. They love it.
- 59:07Speaker 1: That's really good advice. If you mess up, just laugh
- 59:09Speaker 1: at yourself. He's like, oh god, oh, se, you've seen
- 59:12Speaker 1: an award shows when people make a joke like teleprompter guy,
- 59:15Speaker 1: you gotta go back because that's way the audience cracks up.
- 59:19Speaker 1: I mean, people love that. They they're tired of the
- 59:21Speaker 1: monotony of the normal. They want to see something, you know, right,
- 59:24Speaker 1: the last thing they want is Jon Favreau is such
- 59:27Speaker 1: an innovator. Uh, and here's his award. You know, it's
- 59:31Speaker 1: if it's perfect, if it's perfect. Like, that's the one
- 59:34Speaker 1: thing I hate. I hate when people read the teleprompter
- 59:36Speaker 1: and they stay exactly what with what is asked for,
- 59:40Speaker 1: especially after a night where geniuses have come up one
- 59:43Speaker 1: stage and improbed and made jokes and stuff that have
- 59:46Speaker 1: killed and then you got the one person that comes
- 59:48Speaker 1: out and reads verbatim what the teleprompter says. Right. The
- 59:51Speaker 1: problem is with that is that's that's like the double
- 59:54Speaker 1: black diamond version when you've got the confidence level, like
- 59:56Speaker 1: you're gonna riff off the teleprompter because then you're nervous,
- 59:59Speaker 1: like is the teleprompter guy or gal gonna gonna find
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: where I want to go back in? Like you've seen,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: you know, if you go to award shows like Donald
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: and I have and Joel has you and Daniel I
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: don't know if you. I don't know Daniel, we don't
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: know about what you do. But anyway, the point is
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: you can see the teleprompter right. So if you got
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: a funny comedian up there riffing, you can't help but
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: look at the teleprompter and go, none of that's in
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: the teleprompter, but you're wondering. You can see the thing
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: moving back and forth, like the guy or gal is
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: going like when do you want to come back into
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: what's written? And that's always funny, Like when I remember
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: when when I was at the Emmys, I think Amy
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Poehler was doing that. She was she was riffing, and
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I was looking and I couldn't help but look back
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: at the prompter and be like, Yep, none of that's
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: in there, so don't do that. My recommendation is to
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: not riff. Yeah, I almost wonder if I need to
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: take some improv classes or something. Just in general, I
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: like to get over the feeling because I feel like
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I'm I'm quick witted, and I'm great with just a
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: small group of friends. As soon as I'm like on
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: a camera or in public, I can't do that idea.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I mean, it could be improv or public speaking or
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: or you know, there's plenty of you're in the right
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: town for it, there's plenty of workshops you could probably
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: it's probably like intensives that are like one weekend or something,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: or improv if if you you know, there's a lot,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: you'd have a blast doing that, because that's really fun too.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: But it sounds like if your fear is um, just
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: being in your head in front of groups. Of course,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: there's there's uh classes you can take on that, probably
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: online classes too if you don't want to go to
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: a physical place. UM, it's probably like, um, there's probably
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: what's that the what's that series on the master the
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: master master Class, master Class. I bet sure there's a
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: public speaking one on that. I've been taking some of
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: those master classes, have you been? I took the one
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: on how to make a brisket. I still suck at
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: making brisket. I didn't take the one on making a brisket.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: That's just the hardest meeting. I was watching Ron Howards
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: actually because I was interested in in uh in um.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: He did one on filmmaking, and I thought it was
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: interesting to watch it. That's that's really weird a successful director,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: but it's it's real, I do it all. This was
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: just the director watching another directors. It's he's Ron Howard,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: he's a living legend. And I was interested in in
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: in what his process was and also how how he
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: would educate people. I was curious, how do you explain directing?
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: I mean, I went to film school and I still
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: wonder how do you explain directing? Because you can discuss
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: movies and you can discuss process and styles, but it's
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: really about doing it. Um So how do you how
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: do you do a video online course about directing a movie?
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: That that's I was curious how they were going to
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: attack that, and it was it was interesting. I hear that.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something right now. Person who stole
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: the book of Boba Fette Season one, Bryce Dallas Howard.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: She's stolen. She's stolen. Amazing, she stole the show with
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: her directing stolen. It's stunning. She's her process and just
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: being around her energy, her knowledge. She's a fantastic person.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Have you had a chance to work with, of course,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: the legend mar debor Chow. Yeah, definitely. Well, I love her.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: She knows some things. She knows some things, Maria, will
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: you pitch me as a director? Tell tell debor Chow
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: can vouch for me. I'm sure she can tell them.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Me directed Garden State. Okay, I just tell him that
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: I would love to direct the Mandalorian episode. I really
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: really would. And then you would put me in it
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: as some badass hot shot who lives. No, I put
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: you in as the real Black storm trooper, some bad
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: ass hot shot who lives. That's the og black. They'd
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: be like, who are you a Black Stormtrooper? Foo? All right, Maria,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: thank you for coming on. And uh, and everybody, thank
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: you for for two welcome. You're welcome. You're welcome as
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: long as I have you here for two seconds. I
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: just want to say, give flow my love. I did
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: a movie with her called Fighting with My Family, and um,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: I love her and adore her and had such a
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: great time working with her. She's a wonderful human being.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: And uh, and wait till you see what a performance
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: she gives in in our film. A good person. She's
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: just an extraordinary, extraordinary talent. Yeah, she's just she's magical, yes,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: and normal and kind and sweet grounded. Donald, you're going
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: to a Josh Raiden's concert tonight. I am going to
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Josh Raider's concert tonight. It's very late. It's late. It's
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: like it starts out nine something. At that point, I'm
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: sleeping for about an hour already. I know, but you're
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: gonna have to have a sugar free red Bull or something.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I might have a sugar free red Bull with some
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: vodka in it, you know, Daniel and Joel, if you'd
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: like to go, it's at the l Ray. Um, by
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: the time this airs, it'll be too late for the
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: audience members. But Um, when he said, when he said
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: to l Ray, you know what, I immediately thought of
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: what I thought of the rialto from La La land?
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Is there is there a rialto? Is there a rialto? No? Right,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: there's no rialto in la? Is there? I don't think so,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I don't think, but it sounds like the l Ray
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: sounded like the rialto to me so automatically, I was like,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: City of Stars, okay, ah, you shanning just from me.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I'm worried the fan, the fans. The fans might be
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: getting sick of us talking about us stars. I don't
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: give a fuck. Actually tell him here, tell him you're
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Seth Green. Story. That was funny. My Seth Green story?
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Which one the video you sent me of him? Um
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: sitting in a restaurant. That was funny, a shit. Seth
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Green was sitting in a restaurant listening to somebody talk
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: about our podcast and how we never talk about the
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: show Scrubs, and how much and how much they love that,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: and how much they loved the fact that we just
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: sit and talk shit about shit. And then Seth Green
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: took this video. He's not selling it right. Seth Green
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: made this video. Is like they're behind me and they
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: these people love the podcast, They're obsessed with it, and
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: their favorite part is how you barely talk about the
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: child anyway, we promised to talk about the show. We
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: love you all and and we'll see you next time.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Five six stories about show we made about a bunch
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: of doctor nurses and the janitor who loved me. I said,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: he's a story nephew should know. So gada around you.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Here are gada around you? Here at free while you're
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: with mm hmmm.
