- 0:10Speaker 2: I got to come off the bench.

- 0:14Speaker 1: ben So Baton Rouge Studio starts.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Now, Harry, welcome back in hour number two of OTB.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Here on one, O four five, ESPN, Baton Rouge, and
- 0:27Speaker 3: we are very excited to go to Omahall Now we
- 0:30Speaker 3: have got the man in charge on the line, Jay Johnson,
- 0:34Speaker 3: head baseball coach, for your LSU fighting Tigers coach. We
- 0:38Speaker 3: truly do appreciate the time as always. I hope you
- 0:41Speaker 3: got some rest. But my god, what a game last night.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Yeah how about that? Doing back home? I feel like
- 0:51Speaker 4: we've been here forever, which is a great thing.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Absolutely absolutely, coach you. I mean last night, so my
- 0:58Speaker 3: son is Elevenue Baseball. But they had their World Series
- 1:00Speaker 3: in the Lafayette area and they had their opening ceremonies
- 1:04Speaker 3: and every parent I think that was there was like
- 1:07Speaker 3: excited for their child, but every one of them had
- 1:10Speaker 3: their phone out watching the Tigers play the game from
- 1:14Speaker 3: like start to finish. Nobody put their phone down. Everybody
- 1:17Speaker 3: back here is certainly locked in. I think you would
- 1:19Speaker 3: have enjoyed seeing some of the scenes from that last night, but.
- 1:23Speaker 5: You were busy.
- 1:24Speaker 3: You were busy trying to go win a game against
- 1:26Speaker 3: a very good Arkansas team and coach you say it
- 1:29Speaker 3: all the time, you get twenty seven outs, you gotta
- 1:32Speaker 3: get us twenty seven times. Arkansas only able to get
- 1:35Speaker 3: you twenty six. And what a ninth inning it was.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Yeah, first off, that's really cool. Thanks for sharing that
- 1:42Speaker 4: with me. About everybody watch it, and that's what makes
- 1:46Speaker 4: LSU special in LSU baseball. There's not many programs like
- 1:50Speaker 4: that that even at this stage in that game, would
- 1:52Speaker 4: be tuned in like that. But you feel it here
- 1:55Speaker 4: and you definitely feel the support back home. And yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 4: I mean, and that's our saying there's no clock in baseball,
- 2:02Speaker 4: and thank god, and especially especially with this team, and
- 2:07Speaker 4: they just they have a high level of beliefs and
- 2:10Speaker 4: I mean we played a Giant that's one of the
- 2:13Speaker 4: best programs. It's not the best program in the country,
- 2:15Speaker 4: and with great players. I mean, just it was this
- 2:19Speaker 4: high level of game. And sure there was some mistakes,
- 2:23Speaker 4: which that's part of college baseball and how it goes.
- 2:26Speaker 4: But our guys just ability to keep showing up in
- 2:29Speaker 4: the moment and just executing their plan in the moment
- 2:32Speaker 4: made me really proud. And that's that's kind of who
- 2:34Speaker 4: we are, and that's what we need to do.
- 2:35Speaker 2: This weekend, coach, we're getting the privilege of watching this firsthand,
- 2:40Speaker 2: every single pitch, every single hit, every single defensive play,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and we're being able to see, like, how what makes
- 2:47Speaker 2: this team special? How special they are always showing up
- 2:49Speaker 2: in the big moments, always having each other's back. Championship
- 2:52Speaker 2: teams have this like innate DNA to themselves that's hard
- 2:56Speaker 2: to put your finger on, like what makes a team special?
- 3:00Speaker 2: At what point during the season or offseason, whatever it was,
- 3:02Speaker 2: did you realize or have the belief that this team
- 3:06Speaker 2: has the correct genetic makeup the team makeup to be special.
- 3:12Speaker 4: You know, I don't know if there was necessarily a moment.
- 3:16Speaker 4: I think I've just been very in tune and admired.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I would say their consistency to bring their best and
- 3:23Speaker 4: if you look at the season, especially in the league
- 3:26Speaker 4: that we play, there haven't been a lot of downs
- 3:30Speaker 4: or low points. We had a tough weekend at Auburn,
- 3:32Speaker 4: you know, against a team that was a number four
- 3:33Speaker 4: national speed as good as anybody. But outside of that,
- 3:37Speaker 4: like we've handled the success and the failure in stride
- 3:41Speaker 4: and have continued to show up. And that's their best quality.
- 3:46Speaker 4: And I think, you know, we talk about making every
- 3:49Speaker 4: game a playoff game. I feel like this team really
- 3:52Speaker 4: did that. And value of that is when you get
- 3:55Speaker 4: in games like last night, you're trained for it, you're
- 3:57Speaker 4: built for it, because that's how you've app wish every
- 4:00Speaker 4: game along the way. And I'm excited to see them
- 4:03Speaker 4: continue to do that this weekend.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Coach, whenever you have a ninth inning like that, and
- 4:08Speaker 3: there's so many different plays I want to go over
- 4:10Speaker 3: with you, but I also want to pay respect to
- 4:12Speaker 3: people that might get forgotten in the build up to
- 4:15Speaker 3: that ninth inning. Zach Cowen, Jaden Knut, the job that
- 4:19Speaker 3: they did going over six innings only giving up one
- 4:23Speaker 3: earned run. I mean for Zach Cowen, you know, especially
- 4:26Speaker 3: like that's now over eight innings he's pitched against Arkansas
- 4:28Speaker 3: this year, has not given up a run to one
- 4:30Speaker 3: of the best offenses in the country. I know that
- 4:33Speaker 3: when you have you know, a dramatic ending like that,
- 4:35Speaker 3: and we'll talk about those performances. I want to make
- 4:37Speaker 3: sure we don't lose sight. And I know you haven't
- 4:40Speaker 3: of what Zach Collen and Jay Newton were able to
- 4:41Speaker 3: do for you.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Oh, no doubt about it. And I just I'm super
- 4:46Speaker 4: proud of him. He's had an unbelievable season. Like we
- 4:49Speaker 4: are not here without him. He had a couple bumps
- 4:52Speaker 4: in the road the last couple outings, and yeah, that's
- 4:55Speaker 4: how it goes when you're pitching at the end of
- 4:57Speaker 4: the games and just leverage and you lose a couple
- 4:59Speaker 4: you know, we it had talked about, you know, I
- 5:02Speaker 4: got to know and kind of friends with Trevor Hoffman
- 5:04Speaker 4: from San Diego, who'd been in San Diego, and he
- 5:07Speaker 4: talked about this thought of, you know, the closure a closer,
- 5:10Speaker 4: you know, having it kind of almost amtesia when one
- 5:13Speaker 4: goes bad. But I'll take it to another level with him,
- 5:16Speaker 4: Like after that regional final game where we won but
- 5:19Speaker 4: he didn't Fitch gradey, he came in and we talked
- 5:22Speaker 4: and he kind of got it to another level mentally.
- 5:25Speaker 4: And he's already one of the most mentally sound and
- 5:28Speaker 4: strong players that I've ever coached. You know, I think
- 5:31Speaker 4: I've said that with you a couple of times, and
- 5:34Speaker 4: I just felt like, moment, circumstance, mindset, attitude, his arsenal,
- 5:40Speaker 4: a couple of weeks off, a little bit of a
- 5:42Speaker 4: mental reset, he would deliver for us and that he
- 5:45Speaker 4: was awesome. And I'm super proud of him because we're
- 5:47Speaker 4: not even sitting in this position without the season he's had,
- 5:50Speaker 4: so it only felt appropriate for him to pitch that
- 5:52Speaker 4: way last night.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Coach, I want to ask you about one moment in
- 5:57Speaker 2: the game. Get your thoughts on what your mindset was.
- 6:00Speaker 2: A lot of the six down, one nothing, Arkansas decides
- 6:04Speaker 2: intentionally walk Pearson and Jake Brown steps up and just
- 6:09Speaker 2: absolutely makes LSU fans go crazy. RB I talk about
- 6:14Speaker 2: that decision, what went into that, and just that what
- 6:16Speaker 2: that meant to the team of him stepping up right
- 6:19Speaker 2: there as a pinch hitter and getting that hit.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Well, Jake one of our best players, and what a
- 6:24Speaker 4: luxury to have one of your best players sitting there
- 6:26Speaker 4: to insert them at that time. And you know, because
- 6:29Speaker 4: of the pitching matchup, we had them available and that
- 6:34Speaker 4: worked out in our favor. And I told him before
- 6:36Speaker 4: the game it's going to be when it really matters,
- 6:39Speaker 4: and it might happen early, you know, because the Ditleshes,
- 6:42Speaker 4: who did a good job last night, hadn't gotten that
- 6:45Speaker 4: deep into games. But I said, it's going to be
- 6:47Speaker 4: with runners on base when they go to Gabe Gackle,
- 6:50Speaker 4: who in my opinion, is one of the best pitchers
- 6:52Speaker 4: in the country. And it was really interesting. There was
- 6:56Speaker 4: more than just hey, let's get the hit to take
- 6:58Speaker 4: the lead right there. I was actually thinking, like, Okay,
- 7:01Speaker 4: he's kind of getting to that point where if we
- 7:04Speaker 4: have to play tomorrow, it's going to be tough for
- 7:06Speaker 4: him to come back and be really effective because he
- 7:09Speaker 4: threw like ninety pitches and then three days rest and
- 7:11Speaker 4: then what he had thrown to that point, and then
- 7:13Speaker 4: they had Gibbler down in the bullpen, who's really tough
- 7:17Speaker 4: left on left. But I just kind of went with
- 7:20Speaker 4: I have one of my best players available with the
- 7:22Speaker 4: bases loaded, who does a great job of flowing the
- 7:24Speaker 4: game down. Is ultra competitive, Like, let's get him in
- 7:28Speaker 4: the box right now. And the only hard part is,
- 7:30Speaker 4: like Chris is Danfield is like one of our best players, you.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Know, So.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just the rightys. The Rightings had not done
- 7:39Speaker 4: anything with Gackle. I mean, he struck us out ten
- 7:42Speaker 4: times the other day, and it just I just said,
- 7:45Speaker 4: made the decision that it was the best for that moment,
- 7:48Speaker 4: and then it was going to help us if we
- 7:50Speaker 4: actually had to play them again today to have both
- 7:53Speaker 4: of those guys thrown in this in this game last night.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Coach, were we talking about that?
- 7:58Speaker 3: And we're talking about, you know, kind of some of
- 7:59Speaker 3: the the changes in the lineup earlier. It's like it
- 8:02Speaker 3: really is like a Major League baseball approach where it's
- 8:04Speaker 3: you know, it's based off matchups, but you don't see
- 8:06Speaker 3: that often in college baseball. You kind of rolled the
- 8:08Speaker 3: same lineup out there often, you know, more times than not,
- 8:12Speaker 3: and you haven't done that. And we've talked about, we
- 8:15Speaker 3: talked about the last couple of weeks, like some of
- 8:16Speaker 3: the buttons you and the coaching staff have pushed have
- 8:18Speaker 3: really worked out, and those changes have come up in
- 8:21Speaker 3: big spots. Certainly we can go to Hernandez and look,
- 8:24Speaker 3: I don't care what the path for the for the
- 8:25Speaker 3: left fielder was. I mean, he tattooed that baseball last
- 8:28Speaker 3: night and put pressure on the defense. And then of
- 8:30Speaker 3: course Bear Jones. I mean Bear Jones coming up in
- 8:32Speaker 3: two different spots. He's hitting fifth in the lineup. He
- 8:35Speaker 3: hasn't been there all year. But all these buttons that
- 8:38Speaker 3: have been pushed have really worked out well because the
- 8:40Speaker 3: biggest moments of the game, it's been with someone who
- 8:43Speaker 3: hasn't been there all season long in that same spot.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Yeah, that's I mean, we worked hard at it. But
- 8:49Speaker 4: I said this last night, and I think it was
- 8:51Speaker 4: in relative to a question about Jared and his preparation,
- 8:55Speaker 4: and you guys were the athletes, like, it's about the
- 8:58Speaker 4: player executing in the moment. And then you know, my
- 9:01Speaker 4: job is just try to take their strength and their
- 9:04Speaker 4: skill set and align it to give them the best
- 9:07Speaker 4: chance to be successful and ultimately the team to have
- 9:10Speaker 4: the best chance to be successful. And that's what it is,
- 9:12Speaker 4: and we just we pay attention. I will tell you
- 9:18Speaker 4: yesterday's was the most grind in a long time of
- 9:21Speaker 4: how to figure it out and construct it and line
- 9:23Speaker 4: it up with their bullpen and the starter. And you know,
- 9:26Speaker 4: they've had a quick hook with him in the past,
- 9:29Speaker 4: and you know we were a little bit like, Okay,
- 9:33Speaker 4: Gackle's going to come in the game. This is the
- 9:35Speaker 4: time he's going to come in the game, but this
- 9:37Speaker 4: is what we need to do with the starter and
- 9:39Speaker 4: then they're going to go to Gibbler and so it
- 9:42Speaker 4: was tricky and it really really worked out last night.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And you know, just like I said, proud of the
- 9:48Speaker 4: guys for executing I mean, Derek, you know, getting a
- 9:51Speaker 4: ball in play after three tough at baths prior to
- 9:54Speaker 4: that and hustling down the line. They don't make the play.
- 9:58Speaker 4: You know, we got to caint a break on a
- 10:00Speaker 4: on ball where they didn't try to turn the double play,
- 10:03Speaker 4: you know, and this is this is that's one of
- 10:05Speaker 4: the best players in the country in Alois, like I mean,
- 10:08Speaker 4: and then Luis, Yeah, he tattooed it and then Jared
- 10:11Speaker 4: stayed on the ball. So we that's what good teams do.
- 10:14Speaker 4: You get a little bit of an opening and you
- 10:16Speaker 4: take advantage of it. And we've been like that all year.
- 10:19Speaker 4: So to me, that was just very much in character
- 10:21Speaker 4: of our team.
- 10:23Speaker 3: You know, Coach, it's so fun to watch Bear, like,
- 10:27Speaker 3: no matter like what happens, right, he can have a
- 10:29Speaker 3: moment in the game and you know, the double play
- 10:31Speaker 3: there and he stretched out, the ball falls to the
- 10:34Speaker 3: ground to run score a lot of times. And we
- 10:36Speaker 3: all know this, like being former athletes, like we all
- 10:39Speaker 3: know this, like that that can go two ways, like
- 10:41Speaker 3: you can go and you can feel sorry for yourself
- 10:43Speaker 3: or like you said, when that moment comes, what do
- 10:46Speaker 3: you do?
- 10:47Speaker 5: Do you step up and stand tall?
- 10:48Speaker 3: And that's what is so impressive to me with him, Like,
- 10:51Speaker 3: no matter what the struggles are, no matter if it
- 10:53Speaker 3: is a bad play, whatever it might be, when he
- 10:56Speaker 3: has called upon in the biggest moments, tying the game
- 10:59Speaker 3: up with a a mammoth tank to the opposite field,
- 11:02Speaker 3: or to come up and win the game last night,
- 11:05Speaker 3: that's not normal, Like not every athlete has that, but
- 11:08Speaker 3: Bear seems like he has it and almost every time
- 11:10Speaker 3: in absolutes.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm super proud of him. I mean, just the
- 11:16Speaker 4: growth over the three years has been remarkable. And I think,
- 11:20Speaker 4: you know, maybe because he's on the heels of some
- 11:22Speaker 4: of those guys that were big name guys with you know,
- 11:25Speaker 4: Dylan and Tommy, like people actually haven't talked about the
- 11:29Speaker 4: caliber of career Yeah this guy has had at LSU.
- 11:33Speaker 4: And you know, I mean we're here in the finals
- 11:35Speaker 4: for the second time in three years, and you know,
- 11:38Speaker 4: you know how hard it is to get to this
- 11:40Speaker 4: game and this stage, and the reason we're here this
- 11:43Speaker 4: year is largely because he came back, you know, for
- 11:46Speaker 4: his junior year when he was draft eligible last year,
- 11:48Speaker 4: and you know, it's had a tough first game, and
- 11:51Speaker 4: you know what did what competitors and winners do, you know,
- 11:54Speaker 4: got back to work and more importantly than work, kept
- 11:57Speaker 4: his mindset right and has really delivered these last two games.
- 12:01Speaker 4: And I'm very proud of them.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Coach, you your team has proven to all of us
- 12:06Speaker 2: that nothing's too big for them. The lights are not
- 12:09Speaker 2: too bright. But you got a pretty tough job here
- 12:11Speaker 2: in the next couple of days getting them ready to
- 12:13Speaker 2: kind of reset, hit that reset button after a huge
- 12:17Speaker 2: emotional release last night, emotional victory. You got a job.
- 12:21Speaker 2: How are you going to handle the next couple of
- 12:22Speaker 2: days with you know, mental preparation, physical preparation, emotional preparation
- 12:27Speaker 2: for your team and getting them ready. How does the
- 12:31Speaker 2: next couple of days with a schedule line up for
- 12:33Speaker 2: you and how do you handle it leading up to
- 12:35Speaker 2: this championship series?
- 12:38Speaker 4: Yeah, good question. And the first thing I told them
- 12:41Speaker 4: last night we actually it was k off at the stadium,
- 12:45Speaker 4: and so like we got on the bus and came back,
- 12:48Speaker 4: it's like, hey man, it's like straight to the meeting room,
- 12:50Speaker 4: like right now. And the first thing I said was like, hey, look,
- 12:56Speaker 4: obviously of a sooth good reason, but you guys need
- 12:59Speaker 4: to enjoy what we did accomplished tonight, Like I'm an
- 13:01Speaker 4: idiot if I don't allow them to do that. And
- 13:04Speaker 4: I wanted them to do that. It was an electric
- 13:07Speaker 4: atmosphere when we got back here, and I wanted them
- 13:10Speaker 4: to spend time with their families, and you just you
- 13:13Speaker 4: don't get nights like that in your life very often.
- 13:15Speaker 4: We've luckily had a couple of them here in the
- 13:17Speaker 4: last three years. It's amazing that, you know how similar
- 13:20Speaker 4: those two games were. But I wanted them to enjoy
- 13:23Speaker 4: it last night. I want them to They're all sleeping
- 13:26Speaker 4: right now. I should say, wants a question. They're all
- 13:29Speaker 4: asleep right now. And then, you know, we kind of
- 13:33Speaker 4: found a good flow with the position players late in
- 13:36Speaker 4: the season. You know, we've asked a lot out of
- 13:39Speaker 4: a lot of guys. So today we have we take
- 13:42Speaker 4: them in small groups of hitters and just get them.
- 13:45Speaker 4: You know, it's kind of their individual light work in.
- 13:48Speaker 4: They'll be really short and not not taxing. They're going
- 13:52Speaker 4: to lift today. Got a couple of pictures that need
- 13:54Speaker 4: to throw off the mound lightly and touch the mound.
- 13:58Speaker 4: We're taking them to Flemmings at four o'clock because that's
- 14:00Speaker 4: what we do. You advance to the next round, you
- 14:02Speaker 4: go go e to stay. So, yeah, the tough part
- 14:06Speaker 4: for me if I got so much to get ready
- 14:07Speaker 4: for the series, they're going to Flemings. I think I'm
- 14:10Speaker 4: gonna be sitting here hopefully, hopefully Jared Jones can bring
- 14:13Speaker 4: me a doggy bag or something like that, and then
- 14:17Speaker 4: you know, we're gonna We're gonna have a meeting tonight
- 14:19Speaker 4: at nine thirty. And then to me it's like, okay,
- 14:22Speaker 4: that's the complete reset and focused on on this next deal.
- 14:27Speaker 4: We get to go in the stadium and practice tomorrow,
- 14:30Speaker 4: which to me, you know, like that's that's one of
- 14:33Speaker 4: the best days of your life. Is there's two teams
- 14:36Speaker 4: at are three hundred and seven practicing tomorrow and so
- 14:40Speaker 4: so we'll go in there. The wind's gonna change, the
- 14:42Speaker 4: conditions are going to be hot, a little different. Want
- 14:45Speaker 4: to get reacclimated with you know, the park's going to
- 14:48Speaker 4: play a little differently than it has. Coaching staff, you know,
- 14:52Speaker 4: totally locked in on doing what we do to get
- 14:55Speaker 4: prepared to get lined up for you know, a team
- 14:58Speaker 4: that's a juggernaut right now on like twenty six games
- 15:01Speaker 4: in a row and playing very well. And then Saturday
- 15:05Speaker 4: is great. I mean it's six o'clock PM, which is
- 15:08Speaker 4: that's the times we've played, you know, three of the
- 15:10Speaker 4: days here, so we'll be able to stay in a
- 15:13Speaker 4: similar routine and get ready to go. But I think
- 15:17Speaker 4: if any team, we won't take it for granted what
- 15:19Speaker 4: we have to do to shift to focus. But if
- 15:22Speaker 4: any team has proven that they know how to do that,
- 15:25Speaker 4: it's this team. And then we'll get them lined up
- 15:28Speaker 4: for what each guy on the roster needs to do
- 15:30Speaker 4: to execute in the game and go and go for it.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Coach, I mean, you remind me so much of my
- 15:39Speaker 3: first coach when I got the LSU, coach Saban Just
- 15:41Speaker 3: and the way you go about your business, the way
- 15:43Speaker 3: you prepare for a game, the way you get ready
- 15:46Speaker 3: for an opponent, and so like this time is different
- 15:50Speaker 3: than the last time that you got to the championship series.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Last time, you know, you played another game and you
- 15:55Speaker 3: had to come out of the loser's bracket, and you know,
- 15:57Speaker 3: so many decisions. I'm sure last night playing in your mind,
- 16:00Speaker 3: different guys would would get up exactly, like different guys
- 16:03Speaker 3: like we saw Anthony Hintsen pitching a little bit there
- 16:05Speaker 3: in the bullpen if he had to come in to
- 16:08Speaker 3: the game. But like, now that it's hit reset and
- 16:11Speaker 3: you didn't have that extra game, what does this feel
- 16:14Speaker 3: like as you prepare for Coastal Carolina, which I know
- 16:16Speaker 3: you you've already watched tap on them, Like how different
- 16:19Speaker 3: is it now that you didn't play that extra game
- 16:21Speaker 3: compared to the last time you got there? Like, does
- 16:24Speaker 3: it like truly feel like a complete reset for you?
- 16:27Speaker 3: Knowing that now everybody's available? Of course last time, you know,
- 16:30Speaker 3: Paul Skeens didn't pitch in the Championship series.
- 16:32Speaker 5: But now everybody's a full go.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Yeah, thank god, by the way, Like I mean, because
- 16:40Speaker 4: you know, I didn't want to say anything the other day.
- 16:42Speaker 4: There's nothing anybody can do about it, but that rain
- 16:46Speaker 4: deal split day. Like we're already in bracket too, where
- 16:49Speaker 4: there's a little bit of a challenge in that which
- 16:52Speaker 4: I don't if you're an Omaha, I don't ever care
- 16:54Speaker 4: about that, but like, but there was a little bit
- 16:58Speaker 4: like when we got the lead two to one, it
- 17:03Speaker 4: was the last nine outs, we're going to be Chase
- 17:06Speaker 4: in Anthony and we're going to win it last night
- 17:10Speaker 4: to give us the best chance to win the National championship.
- 17:13Speaker 4: And then I mean the end of the game was chaos,
- 17:16Speaker 4: you know. And I do want to say, like, Chase
- 17:18Speaker 4: short has been unbelievable here, Like I mean that was
- 17:21Speaker 4: even last night, like third time in four days, and
- 17:24Speaker 4: he got the ground ball and Michael did a good job.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Danny tried to turn it, Jared tried to stretch, like
- 17:30Speaker 4: we almost got out of that inning, and now you're
- 17:32Speaker 4: three outs away in a two to one game, and
- 17:35Speaker 4: that got lost because of all the chaos in the
- 17:37Speaker 4: eighth and the ninth inning there and then it was
- 17:41Speaker 4: gonna be Anthony in the ninth and then this it
- 17:44Speaker 4: was tricky because I felt like I felt like if
- 17:48Speaker 4: it got to tomorrow and we had to split the
- 17:51Speaker 4: game between Kate and Anthony, we were going to be
- 17:53Speaker 4: in great shape. But that was going to significantly hurt
- 17:56Speaker 4: our chances of winning this weekend if we had to
- 17:58Speaker 4: do that, so we went pretty aggressively at it, and
- 18:02Speaker 4: then if it had gone to the tenth at five
- 18:05Speaker 4: to five, he was coming in the game. I was like,
- 18:06Speaker 4: there's no way I'm letting this team. There's no with
- 18:09Speaker 4: the effort they just gave to get back to five five,
- 18:12Speaker 4: there's no way I'm letting this team lose this game.
- 18:14Speaker 4: And that Anthony was going to trot out there.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah, gosh. I mean, I'm glad they finished it. I'm
- 18:19Speaker 3: glad LSU is ready to go. And Coach, you got
- 18:22Speaker 3: everybody rooting for you back here, certainly. I mean, I
- 18:25Speaker 3: told your story about the World Series last night. That
- 18:27Speaker 3: is a factual story. Everybody's watching it. Coach, I've told
- 18:30Speaker 3: you this before. I mean, I've got five kiddos, as
- 18:32Speaker 3: you know, and our baby girl two years ago, she
- 18:35Speaker 3: was about to be born. My wife is in the
- 18:37Speaker 3: hospital bed ready to go, but she's watching LSU and
- 18:40Speaker 3: Wake Forest. She does not tell the doctor to come
- 18:43Speaker 3: in until Tommy White hits the walk off home run.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Hand to God, this is a true story. We're all
- 18:48Speaker 3: watching the game in the hospital room. She is in
- 18:50Speaker 3: the bed about to give birth. Tommy White walks it off.
- 18:54Speaker 3: She says, all right, you can call the doctor in
- 18:56Speaker 3: now and then had our baby girl about ten minutes later.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Let's go so for her second birthday. Let's win another championship.
- 19:04Speaker 3: As absolutely, let's go. Coach, You're the man. I can't
- 19:08Speaker 3: thank you enough. I know what today's like for you,
- 19:10Speaker 3: not only with responsibilities, but trying to get your team
- 19:13Speaker 3: ready for a championship series.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Again.
- 19:15Speaker 3: We're all rooting like hell for you back home. Cannot
- 19:17Speaker 3: wait to watch it this weekend. We appreciate it.
- 19:19Speaker 4: All right, guys, have a great day.
- 19:21Speaker 5: All right?
- 19:21Speaker 3: There he is LSU had baseball coach Jay Johnson good
- 19:25Speaker 3: enough to join us. Man always so gracious, uh you know,
- 19:29Speaker 3: with his time and just.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Great the time constraints he has right now, just to
- 19:34Speaker 2: make a couple little few moments to come in and talk,
- 19:38Speaker 2: share a little bit of his thought process with Louisiana.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I know that man. That man is impressive. I'm sorry
- 19:45Speaker 2: he's gonna go hungry there. I don't think Jared Jones
- 19:48Speaker 2: has ever had any leftovers misteak.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Out too many old doggie bags.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Jones is gonna.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Chance to somebody else. I don't know. The bear is
- 20:00Speaker 5: going to bring.
- 20:00Speaker 2: The If you advance, you get a good steak.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Hey, I know you too, and I know that you're
- 20:06Speaker 3: you know, nobody loves flimmings, like like this guy over here,
- 20:09Speaker 3: I love a good steak so real quick.
- 20:11Speaker 6: When I called him, I was like, oh, thank you
- 20:14Speaker 6: so much for joining us seriously, and he was like, well,
- 20:16Speaker 6: I figured I've been doing it the whole time. I
- 20:18Speaker 6: should keep it going. And I was like, yeah, you
- 20:20Speaker 6: can't mess with Juju.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Trust me when I say, Elonda, I'm glad he said that,
- 20:25Speaker 3: because I was going to try to format a text
- 20:27Speaker 3: that said something similar if he didn't get back to
- 20:29Speaker 3: me this morning, like hey, hey, I know baseball superstitions.
- 20:32Speaker 3: We've done this every Thursday during baseball season. It's Thursday.
- 20:37Speaker 5: I kind of told the people, you're gonna come on it.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Yeah one.
- 20:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:42Speaker 7: It was like, how are you doing. I was like,
- 20:43Speaker 7: I'm doing great.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I'm doing amazing.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Man, gosh, love that guy and that look. Last night
- 20:53Speaker 3: was was fun. So we were we're Youngsville actually Lafyet
- 20:57Speaker 3: Area and Hoddy's doing their world here and they had a cool,
- 21:00Speaker 3: very cool opening ceremonies situation. But so they had a
- 21:06Speaker 3: fastest Man competition and an around the horn competition, you know,
- 21:09Speaker 3: fastest team that can do it. So people would be
- 21:13Speaker 3: filming their son, their team and then immediately when they finished,
- 21:16Speaker 3: boom phone, sure, ESPN.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Plus or whatever however they take it. I don't know.
- 21:22Speaker 5: I don't know why I didn't.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I should have taken a photo of it, because there
- 21:26Speaker 3: was two fields that had two full stands, and I
- 21:29Speaker 3: would say ninety five percent of them had their phones
- 21:32Speaker 3: like this, and we all know what you're doing. You're
- 21:34Speaker 3: watching LSU baseball, and like when Jake Brown got the hit,
- 21:39Speaker 3: like the roar of this youth baseball crowd was pretty
- 21:42Speaker 3: awesome because everybody's there against each other, but they're also
- 21:45Speaker 3: there for the times and so.
- 21:47Speaker 2: And the kids on the field like it's like we're
- 21:49Speaker 2: between ending these guys, what what are y'll cheering for?
- 21:52Speaker 8: Well, we did get we did something good. They're like
- 21:54Speaker 8: it was a ground out. The first was freaking out
- 21:56Speaker 8: O the.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Best part so likely around the horn competition. It was
- 21:58Speaker 3: like picture to catcher and catcher to third third seconds.
- 22:01Speaker 3: You know, it would have been really bad if when
- 22:05Speaker 3: Jake Brown hit that the two runs if it would
- 22:07Speaker 3: have been because of a drop, like and a kid
- 22:09Speaker 3: would have dropped the ball at the same time, and
- 22:10Speaker 3: everybody that kid would have been like, oh my god.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Be kicking dirt.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Oh man, kids say, oh man. Now, I don't know,
- 22:19Speaker 5: they see a lot of shis.
- 22:21Speaker 3: I talked, I mean, I thought you were about to
- 22:24Speaker 3: say the I mean, Mikey said it last week.
- 22:28Speaker 2: I was like, he did.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Nobody's listening the FCC, right.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think like seven people work for that company.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Don't mess with Yeah, and.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Plus like he didn't say to t oh, I forgot
- 22:45Speaker 3: about our Oh.
- 22:46Speaker 5: My gosh, what what was she saying? What was she
- 22:50Speaker 5: talking about?
- 22:51Speaker 7: You were asking her about what the kids say these days?
- 22:53Speaker 7: Oh yeah, she said something that had the.
- 22:57Speaker 2: You know, if you're just quoting somebody, you don't get
- 22:59Speaker 2: in trouble with what you say.
- 23:00Speaker 5: No, no, waken, that's not how it works.
- 23:03Speaker 7: Not true.
- 23:06Speaker 5: We had a high school intern.
- 23:08Speaker 7: Won't let me be, let me be be.
- 23:11Speaker 5: We'll find the clean version of that, find the clean
- 23:13Speaker 5: version of that.
- 23:14Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:14Speaker 5: I know we got to take a break.
- 23:15Speaker 3: But again, I want to thank Jay Johnson for coming
- 23:19Speaker 3: on with us all season long. He doesn't have to
- 23:21Speaker 3: do that. It's not a paid deal. He's not a
- 23:23Speaker 3: sponsor tied to it. He just does it, you know,
- 23:26Speaker 3: he does.
- 23:27Speaker 2: It for the OTB good juju that he just got.
- 23:31Speaker 5: There's probably some of that, you know for the cant Clays.
- 23:35Speaker 5: I actually don't hate it.
- 23:37Speaker 7: I like it better than the other one.
- 23:38Speaker 5: I actually don't. Yeah, the other one was too close
- 23:41Speaker 5: to the sun.
- 23:42Speaker 2: That's not a soft day.
- 23:44Speaker 5: All right, we'll take a break.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I want to recap what Jay just uh you know,
- 23:48Speaker 3: was talking about there with a lot of different situations,
- 23:50Speaker 3: a lot of different players, and yeah, on the way out,
- 23:53Speaker 3: can we get this man some flemings to Actually, I
- 23:58Speaker 3: think we should reach out to the base well s.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I d right, let's door dash on something I was
- 24:05Speaker 3: about to say, We'll do door dash. I think we
- 24:07Speaker 3: should get where he's at. We'll send it to Bill's room. Yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 3: because you know we don't need just in case we
- 24:13Speaker 3: need J. Johnson's room number out there on door dash,
- 24:16Speaker 3: we send it to Bill's room.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Yes, and we feed J. Johnson.
- 24:19Speaker 7: I love that.
- 24:20Speaker 2: That's a great idea.
- 24:21Speaker 7: Write a little message on it from the O TV crew,
- 24:24Speaker 7: from the.
- 24:24Speaker 2: O TV Fox.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I think I think that would be a great way
- 24:28Speaker 3: for you to integrate yourself to coach.
- 24:31Speaker 2: He doesn't really know me, I already love. He takes
- 24:35Speaker 2: point like you can buy it.
- 24:36Speaker 5: He gives you like you can questions.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Great question, he's that's right. I've been here twice, Yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 2: interviewed him twice. I didn't hear you get any good
- 24:49Speaker 2: great ones.
- 24:49Speaker 5: I didn't know. I didn't know. Nope, I hadn't hadn't
- 24:52Speaker 5: gotten one.
- 24:52Speaker 6: This guy, he's used to Jake having good questions.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Maybe like surprising this pile going on at this point. Yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 2: an embarrassment of riches over here from Jake's questions.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Nothing like a twenty five minute second to get things started.
- 25:08Speaker 5: He'll beat the bench.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Do we think that there was some ice cold dose
- 25:16Speaker 3: Sequis eliminated last night?
- 25:19Speaker 5: It wasn't just the hogs got.
- 25:20Speaker 2: To he said. He kind of let him go celebrate
- 25:22Speaker 2: a little bit. We can't be for sure certain, but
- 25:26Speaker 2: I'm sure there were some bottles with two x's on it.
- 25:30Speaker 5: I mean, I was just thinking maybe even the fans.
- 25:31Speaker 3: But you know, if you're of age, when you're there
- 25:34Speaker 3: in Omaha, what better time to go for dose?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Now?
- 25:38Speaker 5: It's always a great time. Lake beer, beach.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Beer, pull beer, Omaha beer, Airport beer, Studio beer, any beer.
- 25:49Speaker 3: You should grab an ice cold, do sequis, drink responsibly,
- 25:53Speaker 3: go for dose.
- 25:55Speaker 2: See that delicious cold green bottle, cut open a fresh lime,
- 26:03Speaker 2: squeeze it in there. There's nothing better that cold Mexican
- 26:07Speaker 2: lawger go for dose. Do secies do sekis?
- 26:13Speaker 9: Ed Baby Baby Baby.
- 26:24Speaker 1: From players to legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown l s
- 26:27Speaker 1: U Football like only champions can.
- 26:30Speaker 10: White folks gans to hey baby with a p hey
- 26:35Speaker 10: baby riding in the leg with a move, Hey baby,
- 26:39Speaker 10: the baby Bay Baby Baby Baby.
- 26:44Speaker 5: Hurricane Chris Tree Force Finest.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Also Halle Barry maybe heard that song. Yeah that was
- 26:52Speaker 2: a banger too. He was like fifteen when he made
- 26:57Speaker 2: this song.
- 26:57Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure.
- 26:59Speaker 11: All right, say the name again, Hurricane Chris Port City Classic,
- 27:07Speaker 11: Ratchett City Agency Chris.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Uh see, it's not his real name. Was real name
- 27:21Speaker 2: Hurricane Mike. You changed it to Chris.
- 27:23Speaker 8: Jesus so stupid.
- 27:27Speaker 7: I don't love that one.
- 27:32Speaker 5: I needed you to do some research here.
- 27:36Speaker 3: When's the last time two teams faced off in the
- 27:39Speaker 3: Championship series both undefeated?
- 27:43Speaker 5: This feel like it's been a minute.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Is this.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Got two teams playing some really good baseball? And we'll
- 27:53Speaker 3: preview Coastal Carolina certainly tomorrow show. I've already reached out
- 27:58Speaker 3: to the voice of Coastal Carolina Baseball to try to
- 28:02Speaker 3: have him on the show. So we'll see if we
- 28:04Speaker 3: can get that done, get that all finished up.
- 28:10Speaker 5: They're good double I had lost since April.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Is it true that they've never lost in Omaha?
- 28:17Speaker 5: I believe the or eight no eight no in Omaha
- 28:19Speaker 5: in Omaha.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Decent.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Yeah, strong to quite strong. It Uh.
- 28:26Speaker 3: You know, that's what we talk about with Coastal Carolina.
- 28:28Speaker 3: It's it's not like a normal mid major. It's just not.
- 28:32Speaker 3: It's it's like Gonzaga and basketball. You know, it's like
- 28:36Speaker 3: Boise State in football. They're different, they're not you know,
- 28:41Speaker 3: and look in Boise and Gonzaga haven't finished the deal, right.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Gonzaga has been to a title game a couple of times,
- 28:47Speaker 3: they've been to the final fours, had won one.
- 28:50Speaker 5: Coastal's one one, so.
- 28:53Speaker 3: They are they're like, yeah, they have every belief that
- 28:58Speaker 3: they can go win and make it a second College
- 29:00Speaker 3: World Series title.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Now, I do think they were on the weaker bracket
- 29:05Speaker 2: leading up to this.
- 29:09Speaker 3: On paper, On paper, the two best teams played last night,
- 29:14Speaker 3: right for sure, But yeah, coast.
- 29:17Speaker 2: What I said might not be factually right, but then I.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Mean, look in the head, you know you had Murray
- 29:21Speaker 3: State on your side. But I get what you're I mean,
- 29:23Speaker 3: U c l A hadn't lost in the postseason when
- 29:25Speaker 3: they got there, so.
- 29:28Speaker 2: But hey, they haven't even sniffed drama. So I mean
- 29:32Speaker 2: they've they have, They've I feel like they've dominated. Watching them,
- 29:37Speaker 2: doesn't seem like they have any weaknesses anywhere. They just
- 29:42Speaker 2: play really good baseball. And it's I've watched them a
- 29:45Speaker 2: couple of times already and it's been fun to watch
- 29:47Speaker 2: them because they hit the ball well, they played good defense.
- 29:50Speaker 2: They just look like a really good, sound, well coached
- 29:53Speaker 2: baseball team. And uh, I think it's mean it's gonna
- 29:57Speaker 2: be a great matchup. I mean two three team.
- 29:58Speaker 6: Sorry, So out of these, this is gonna take me
- 30:00Speaker 6: a while to like really get into it and see
- 30:03Speaker 6: which ones were undefeated when they were facing each other.
- 30:06Speaker 7: But out of these, it tells.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Me who was undefeated going into the series, but not
- 30:12Speaker 6: if the opponent was nineteen forty seven, California was undefeated.
- 30:17Speaker 7: Okay, I don't think we need to go that bout
- 30:19Speaker 7: two thousand. The last time it happened was two thousand
- 30:21Speaker 7: and two Texas.
- 30:23Speaker 4: UH.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Texas was the last team to win the World Series
- 30:27Speaker 6: and go undefeated in the World Series, and then Miami
- 30:29Speaker 6: in two thousand and one, LSU in two thousand, LSU
- 30:33Speaker 6: in nineteen ninety seven, LSU in ninety six, cal State
- 30:37Speaker 6: Fullerton in ninety five, Oklahoma ninety four, Pepper Dyed in
- 30:40Speaker 6: ninety two, LSU in ninety one, and then Texas eighty three.
- 30:45Speaker 6: So it's gonna take me like a minute to go
- 30:47Speaker 6: back and look at the series.
- 30:49Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:49Speaker 5: So I don't know if they're.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Like, gosh.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Hmm, yeah, we're gonna do some research, because I'm seeing
- 30:56Speaker 3: some stuff that I don't even want to put out
- 30:58Speaker 3: there until I do some far like for the research into.
- 31:02Speaker 5: The numbers there, just say it fact check later.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Nah, Now, people get in trouble when they do that.
- 31:08Speaker 3: I try to try to throw facts out here. But
- 31:11Speaker 3: the entire point of all of that is, like it's research.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Like it's not just like, oh, that happened last year. Yeah, ah,
- 31:16Speaker 3: that happened two years ago, Like you got to do
- 31:19Speaker 3: a deep dive until the last time that this happened.
- 31:22Speaker 2: The game ended at like ten last night. It's eight
- 31:24Speaker 2: thirty five in the morning. We hadn't done a lot
- 31:26Speaker 2: of research yet. We're just celebrating right now the tie guys. Yes, continue,
- 31:36Speaker 2: So actually, I'm just excited.
- 31:38Speaker 6: It might have happened in two thousand and two when Texas,
- 31:42Speaker 6: because Nebraska beat Baylor and then they beat Texas Tech
- 31:48Speaker 6: and then they beat Kansas State two faced Texas. So
- 31:50Speaker 6: it might have been in two thousand and two that
- 31:52Speaker 6: it last happened, actually.
- 31:56Speaker 7: With Nebraska versus Texas.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Called Nebraska, who got the Internet? Okay, I'll go ahead
- 32:03Speaker 3: put it out there. Can this be right? Like a
- 32:06Speaker 3: Google search says so the first time ever that both
- 32:10Speaker 3: teams entered the Championship series undefeated.
- 32:12Speaker 7: Yeah, no, I'm just kidding.
- 32:13Speaker 6: That was that was again like the format, the wrong one. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:21Speaker 6: it didn't happen in two I was looking at the
- 32:23Speaker 6: wrong thing.
- 32:23Speaker 7: But yeah.
- 32:24Speaker 3: So through decades of College World Series and with its
- 32:26Speaker 3: current double elimination bracket in best of three finals format,
- 32:30Speaker 3: there has never been an occasion where both finalists were unbeaten.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Teams have gone undefeated individually Texas and five Oregon State
- 32:39Speaker 3: in two thousand and seven, but never together. Yeah, so
- 32:42Speaker 3: it says so Prior to this year's matchup between LSU
- 32:45Speaker 3: and Coastal Carolina, it has never happened before that both
- 32:49Speaker 3: teams reached the finals without a loss.
- 32:52Speaker 8: We know that's impressive. We know Coastal had to have
- 32:55Speaker 8: been Yeah, but I just checked. They beat Arizona and
- 32:59Speaker 8: Arizona did not. Arizona loss, but they did.
- 33:01Speaker 2: They went five.
- 33:01Speaker 5: And oh he was the coach at Arizona back then.
- 33:03Speaker 2: I believe it was mister j.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Johnson and who beat us in the Super Regionals in
- 33:07Speaker 6: twenty sixteen.
- 33:08Speaker 5: Cost to Carolina black ground.
- 33:11Speaker 2: All things come back to this weekend.
- 33:15Speaker 3: So LSU does have history with Coastal. Lshu's head coach
- 33:20Speaker 3: has history with Coastal. So they might not play often,
- 33:24Speaker 3: but this certainly means something now it's the finals. Yeah,
- 33:29Speaker 3: he might not say it, there's some uh, there's some
- 33:31Speaker 3: old stories to go back and lean on as well.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Yeah, he might not say it, but he didn't like him.
- 33:35Speaker 2: I know. I've talked to Jay twice. Now I can
- 33:37Speaker 2: tell he didn't like him.
- 33:40Speaker 8: Acts to grind you know Jay really well, Oh yeah,
- 33:44Speaker 8: you got two from him.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Those are some of the greatest out of boys I've
- 33:49Speaker 2: ever had in my life.
- 33:54Speaker 5: Do you feel like you were floating over the conversation
- 33:56Speaker 5: when it happened, I.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Was like hovering over my body watching myself ask that question.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I could feel it. You can feel it as well.
- 34:04Speaker 2: You can feel it, sweet question.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that was a firep coach. And uh Like, he's like,
- 34:10Speaker 3: did I.
- 34:11Speaker 5: Want to go straight into the film room? Yeah?
- 34:13Speaker 3: I did? He probably actually did. But he's like, I
- 34:16Speaker 3: wanted them to celebrate that victory. Those do not happen
- 34:19Speaker 3: very often. And he made the joke and he's right,
- 34:21Speaker 3: like it now, It's happened to us a couple of times.
- 34:23Speaker 3: But I'm glad he allowed them to enjoy that night.
- 34:27Speaker 3: You don't have a game today, right, you don't have
- 34:30Speaker 3: a game tomorrow. You can relax a little bit, you
- 34:33Speaker 3: can reset, refocus, go have a hell of a practice
- 34:36Speaker 3: inside the stadium. And he said it, there's over three
- 34:39Speaker 3: hundred teams that do this and only two are practicing
- 34:42Speaker 3: over the next two days, and they're going to be
- 34:44Speaker 3: one of them. So I like the approach the coaching
- 34:47Speaker 3: staff getting ready. My man ain't even going to Flemings.
- 34:50Speaker 3: He's going to get somebody to bring him some leftovers.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Door dashing.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and by that, I mean I'm going to take
- 34:57Speaker 3: Flynn's phone and do it for him.
- 34:58Speaker 5: He'll forget.
- 34:59Speaker 2: What a powerful comment. Though. It is so cool to
- 35:02Speaker 2: be able to go out on the field and practice
- 35:04Speaker 2: tomorrow because there's only two left practicing.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, uh, look, it's like a high school
- 35:11Speaker 3: football right, what do you want to be doing practicing
- 35:15Speaker 3: daring Thanksgiving when everybody else is off and celebrating and
- 35:19Speaker 3: eating a lot of ham and turkey.
- 35:21Speaker 5: As like a high school football coach, you want to
- 35:24Speaker 5: be coaching. It means you did something right.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Kind of same situation here, you're coaching, you're practicing tomorrow.
- 35:29Speaker 5: There's only two teams doing that.
- 35:32Speaker 3: So all right, we're going to We're gonna put the
- 35:34Speaker 3: order together on Flynn's phone. We're gonna send it to
- 35:37Speaker 3: j Johnson. Get this man some food. We'll schedule it
- 35:41Speaker 3: for like he's at four o'clock. At four o'clock, four o'clock,
- 35:44Speaker 3: we're going to schedule a steak dinner. That's an early dinner.
- 35:47Speaker 3: It's like a senior citizens type situation. Maybe they don't
- 35:51Speaker 3: have up there, but it feels like a real Piccadilly situation.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody, we're gonna to send somebody down to like
- 35:57Speaker 2: the hotel restaurant to get him some like real silverware,
- 36:00Speaker 2: because there's nothing worse than trying to cut a steak
- 36:02Speaker 2: with some plastic wear A good one. That's all I got.
- 36:08Speaker 5: All right, Moro two B when we come back off

- 37:52Speaker 12: Walking like a walk, like a walk like.
- 37:57Speaker 5: Jop what all right?
- 37:58Speaker 3: Walk my n O TV one four five ESPN Ben
- 38:01Speaker 3: Rouge Right now you're gonna hear it like I heard
- 38:07Speaker 3: it last night driving on the Shephaliah basin, trying to
- 38:12Speaker 3: get home, trying to get back to the br Here
- 38:17Speaker 3: was the call to tie it up at three. Barr
- 38:21Speaker 3: Jones at the plate, trying to extend the game just
- 38:27Speaker 3: a little bit longer, trying to include some more drama
- 38:30Speaker 3: into the game. After the Hogs score two runs on
- 38:34Speaker 3: a ball that didn't leave the infield.
- 38:35Speaker 5: But here was Barr Jones tying it up at three.
- 38:39Speaker 13: There swings high the air, right center field, going back,
- 38:44Speaker 13: going back, It is gone, justin Thomas Junior, cap running,
- 38:51Speaker 13: cap unning, and eventually runs out of real estate. As
- 38:54Speaker 13: Jared Jones, with home run number twenty two, sixty fourth
- 39:00Speaker 13: of his career and the second here in O my
- 39:03Speaker 13: Hall ties it up with one swing of the band.
- 39:07Speaker 13: We're tied three.
- 39:08Speaker 5: All.
- 39:09Speaker 2: I guess somebody out there would debate it that.
- 39:11Speaker 3: That's not the biggest of the sixty four, but it's
- 39:14Speaker 3: gotta be up there in the top two or three
- 39:16Speaker 3: biggest home runs of Jared Jones' career as a Tiger.
- 39:20Speaker 5: Huge. I think you're on something. I mean, I don't know,
- 39:23Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 39:24Speaker 3: There's been some great regular season home runs by the Bear,
- 39:27Speaker 3: but I that's gonna be the top one for me,
- 39:29Speaker 3: and I do love that. Bill was like, ah, you
- 39:33Speaker 3: got it all.
- 39:34Speaker 5: I don't think that was gonna get over the fence.
- 39:36Speaker 6: To be fair, it was like you said earlier, it
- 39:39Speaker 6: was so high up that for me it was kind
- 39:41Speaker 6: of hard to tell.
- 39:42Speaker 7: But then I saw Bear's reaction and I was like, oh, yeah,
- 39:44Speaker 7: that's gone.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:45Speaker 3: It's always so funny, like being in the booth right there.
- 39:47Speaker 3: It's like you'll say something sometimes and you like you
- 39:50Speaker 3: don't even remember saying it. Like when LSU beat Old
- 39:52Speaker 3: Miss this year in overtime, I let out like a
- 39:55Speaker 3: Rick Flair WU on the broadcast and I don't remember
- 39:58Speaker 3: doing it. But every time that's play back, I'm like, yeah,
- 40:01Speaker 3: that's me.
- 40:01Speaker 5: I'm that idiot, or.
- 40:03Speaker 8: Both of your dog he's always like, come on ball,
- 40:07Speaker 8: most of them when they're waiting for a strike call,
- 40:10Speaker 8: he's like, come on blue, come on blue.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Him in the back. It's great. Yeah. Most times, like
- 40:14Speaker 2: when you're watching on TV, you can tell off the
- 40:17Speaker 2: bat by the angle and the speed that it leaves
- 40:20Speaker 2: the TV screen that it's like, oh he got ahold
- 40:22Speaker 2: of that, that's got a shot. The ball trajectory on
- 40:25Speaker 2: TV it looked like every pop up that's hit into
- 40:29Speaker 2: the outfield that just falls in short center field or
- 40:31Speaker 2: mid center field, whatever it is. But yeah, it was
- 40:33Speaker 2: the body language. He pimped it.
- 40:36Speaker 5: Yeah danger, no one.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Uh here is Luis her Nandez to tie up the
- 40:42Speaker 3: game at five, the one.
- 40:44Speaker 13: Oh from Gibbler swung on a line drive to left
- 40:48Speaker 13: field coming in.
- 40:49Speaker 5: It's gonna be dabbling and he missed it.
- 40:51Speaker 13: It's over in the corner coming into score is five.
- 40:54Speaker 13: They'll send in Milum. Were tied at five. All let's go,
- 41:00Speaker 13: hey now, one of the best defensive teams in all
- 41:05Speaker 13: of the country. And Dablon took a chance on coming
- 41:09Speaker 13: in trying to get the line drive and it rick
- 41:12Speaker 13: Ache's off his body into the corner and we are
- 41:15Speaker 13: tied at five.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Ball wow, oh yeah, man, just trying to talk to
- 41:22Speaker 3: the baseball as you heard there and just trying to
- 41:25Speaker 3: find a way to get it on the ground chance
- 41:28Speaker 3: for the Tigers to score two runs.
- 41:32Speaker 14: I didn't know, man, Can I I need to start
- 41:35Speaker 14: doing that in the football broadcast, just willing it. Yes,
- 41:40Speaker 14: like if for running backs like out and over space,
- 41:42Speaker 14: just come.
- 41:46Speaker 5: I'm sorry doing that the box.
- 41:49Speaker 3: You're like drum spin spin, Yes, absolutely, what wasn't in
- 41:54Speaker 3: my repertoire, but it's in his.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Don't want me on the mic watching a quarterback dropped
- 41:58Speaker 2: the pass for sure, fly ball caught.
- 42:02Speaker 5: That would be you.
- 42:03Speaker 2: No, I would just be the obnoxious person. Event what
- 42:06Speaker 2: do we do in.
- 42:08Speaker 7: I don't think I could call a baseball game.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Look, you can say those things, just do it under
- 42:12Speaker 3: your breath and you break pencils where the camera can't
- 42:15Speaker 3: catch you. How many pencils you go through during the
- 42:17Speaker 3: seventeen all right? Here is the final call. LSU walks
- 42:21Speaker 3: it off Bear Jones.
- 42:23Speaker 5: Two balls, one strike to Tara Jones.
- 42:26Speaker 13: Fernandez down at second pace, bottom of the nighte ty game.
- 42:30Speaker 5: This one hit in the airline.
- 42:31Speaker 13: Drive, It's off the glove of Kochiel into center field.
- 42:34Speaker 13: Here comes Hernandez.
- 42:36Speaker 5: He is safe.
- 42:37Speaker 13: Tigers win, Tigers win. They are headed to the Championship Series.
- 42:42Speaker 13: Here in o Mall, Bye Bye Arkansas. The Tiger's celebrated
- 42:52Speaker 13: right center field, Jared Jones rips the cover off the baseball.
- 42:57Speaker 13: Kochiel couldn't hold it at Arkansas. All season is over.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Great call from the voice of the LSU Tigers, Chris Blair,
- 43:07Speaker 3: Bye Bye Arkansas. Indeed, everybody told us and on this show,
- 43:12Speaker 3: on the other show, I do Arkansas, Arkansas, Arkansas team
- 43:16Speaker 3: to be team to be most complete team in the country,
- 43:19Speaker 3: most talented team in the country. Well turns out they
- 43:23Speaker 3: got a tiger problem and they can't figure it out.
- 43:26Speaker 2: So I sports are the greatest reality television in the
- 43:31Speaker 2: whole world. The difference between tears and celebration. It was
- 43:36Speaker 2: a couple of inches hit the top of the glove
- 43:38Speaker 2: of the second basement. Yep, two inches lower. That's an out.
- 43:45Speaker 3: And as Bradleydale Pioto once told us, an inch is important.
- 43:49Speaker 3: If you could add an inch, everybody would do it.
- 43:52Speaker 3: And we'll come back. Close out our number two.
- 43:53Speaker 5: And o TV off the bench.
- 43:57Speaker 3: All right, go to trash rangers dot com. Trash Rangers.
- 44:00Speaker 3: I think it was Joey in the chat earlier that said,
- 44:03Speaker 3: if I make the switch to trash Rangers, will y'all
- 44:07Speaker 3: sign my trash can? Absolutely, we'll sign the trash can
- 44:12Speaker 3: because if you make the switch to trash Rangers, you

- 45:23Speaker 5: We went twenty three minutes with Jay Johnson.
- 45:26Speaker 3: And what's funny was I saw Peter Burns tweet that
- 45:28Speaker 3: they were having him on SEC this morning, like at
- 45:31Speaker 3: the thirty, and we had him at the top of
- 45:33Speaker 3: the hour, and I almost would just wanted to keep going.
- 45:37Speaker 5: I can just tell PB. Sorry, Bud, all Right, he's
