- 0:06SPEAKER_01: What is going on, ballers?
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: It's your boy MJ coming at you with another episode of the Fantasy Fumble.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: We really appreciate you guys coming out here.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: I'm here with my partner, Joe, the Joe, the snowman, Burbane.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: Joe, how you doing, brother?
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm good, man.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I'm doing great and I'm happy our trade just went through.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: We had a blockbuster trade.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: We Manny and I discussed probably five or six different trades before we finally pulled the trigger on this one.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Let's give them a little bit, save a little bit of that for later.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: But okay, tell them tell them how you're feeling, man.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: How many leagues are you in, Joe?
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: I just finished my sixth draft, my sixth and final draft.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So now it's time for the season to begin.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: You know, when you say that, think about your Christian Bale meme.
- 0:56unknown: Yeah.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: The the the one where he's like, oh fuck yeah.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was in eight last year, so I chopped two.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: That's not bad.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Damn.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Anyways, but what we'll do here, we're gonna talk about some updates, some uh trade analysis, and just get into a little bit of the details on what you can expect, what to view.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, without further ado, let's go ahead and get into the news notes.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Now, just a few minor things to review getting into week one.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Cardinals running back Jeremiah Love is listed behind Algier on the team's depth chart ahead of week one.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Um, I think that backfield could be an even split until Love is at 100% health because right now he's dealing with that ankle still.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And he probably needs to get a little more comfortable with the offense.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: And then also uh before you get too far, I want to sidebar that.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: So uh Jeremiah Love is second on a death chart behind Algier.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: So uh I think that's something that a lot of people are gonna be looking at, right?
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Something that you know people are gonna be unsure whether to start him or not.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna be a uh possibly a sit out for Jeremiah Love.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: He had a uh high ankle sprain, so I think personally that they might be trying to rest him, let Algier take the snaps, you know, for the first game, and then kind of let him rest up an extra week.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I think that's exactly what they're doing.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: You know, this is their this is their future running back, workhorse running back, and they don't want him to go into week one injured.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: I think they're gonna give him a few reps, but probably take it easy.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean$50 million and a fourth overall pick, like you got to protect your investment, guys.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: And he's and he's a legit player.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Now, one other thing is Josh Jacobs, he could play much earlier if the NFL removes him from the commissioner's exempt list following his expedited September 8th court hearing.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Or if the evidence is bad, he could get cut from the team.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: I doubt that's gonna happen.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying it's a possibility.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So, you know, we're gonna find out a lot about Josh Jacobs after September 10th, and um, you know, it'll give you a better idea of where to go moving forward.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you know what?
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: You know, that that's something that you know is concerning to me, right?
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Because I've heard, you know, I've I've argued and I've heard both sides, right, as far as how that can go, right?
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Because the video hasn't been released, no one's able to see the has been able to see it.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: It's been sealed, not released to the public.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: So uh the NFL is actually gonna get to view it on a court date of September 10th, which is coming up over here.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: The big thing about that is if he ended up slamming that girl instead of just pushing her, right?
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Like Ashley slammed her, I think he could have a Ray Rice type of situation.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm saying, is it could be worse.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And you know, the NFL um they they make an example out of people where they really don't give a shit, you know, they're just trying to make money, but they have to make that appearance that they actually give a shit.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: So uh it's possible if that video is bad and the NFL decides it's it's bad enough where they gotta really make an example of Jacobs, this might this year might just be a wash.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, his career might just be done, but we gotta wait and see.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: It could also be that maybe the video is not that bad, and then he's playing before week six.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: But I think it's probably gonna be I think we should just still bank on week six until we hear more information.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: You know, and if you were one of those guys that was smart enough to get both Jacobs and Marshawn Lloyd, you know, kudos to you guys because if you ended up doing that, you got Josh Jacobs, which is like a second round running back, you got him into fifth or sixth.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: So, you know, or later, most of these guys were getting him in the seventh and eighth pick.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: So yeah, even later.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I it I am curious to see how it unfolds, but luckily I am not part, I don't have any chips in the game, right?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So I don't have any ownership of Josh Jacobs.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I do have Marshawn Lynch in a couple.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Um Marshawn Lloyd Lloyd, sorry.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: I have him in a couple leagues.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: I wish I had Lynch.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Um the beast.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I wish it was him.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: But um, no, we got I got Marshawn Lloyd in a couple leagues.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: And the thing is, it's like I am aware that there could be a shelf life on that.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: I'm aware that we don't really know a lot about him, but it was late enough where I said, you know, we'll see.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I'll put him on my bench and see what happens.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Now, uh, to get to the wide receivers, Roma Dunze is considered day-to-day, according to Ben Johnson.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: And Giants wide receiver Malik Neighbors sounds like he's good to go in week one.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: And uh also on the Giants, Darius Slayton, not really an issue for fantasy, but it could increase Malik Neighbors' value.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, he was cut from the team, so that could increase the target share for our neighbors.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: And then two quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Hey, I want to put a little nugget in there for those of you looking for wide receiver death.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: The guy that they drafted last year in the third rounds, he's a big body, 6'2, 220.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: He ran a 4'6, so he has a little bit of speed, nothing, you know, he's not gonna blaze and burn, but he he is a really good possession receiver, and I could see why they probably felt comfortable in releasing Darius Slayton, who's been on that team for like eight years, right?
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: So, like to to be able to just release him, I think that that talks about the Giants' uh vision of Malachi Fields.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: So uh I personally would stash him.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: You know, if you guys are looking at him out there, you're looking for a high flyer.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: You know, let let's say something happens to neighbors he can't play, Malachi Fields turns into that number one.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Can he handle it?
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Dude, I don't know.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: I'm willing to find out.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: That's a good call.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: He's worth a stash.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Obviously, like you said, obviously the Giants see something.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Now, quarterback, um, Patrick Mahomes has a good chance to play in week one against the Broncos.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: And also uh Michael Phoenix Jr., he's gonna be out and Tua is named as the starter for week one.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: So, you know, you might want to press pause on Atlanta, um, you know, for at least Drake London this week.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Not like you're not gonna play him, just you know, lower your expectations.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Hamper them expectations, guys.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this is the opening weeks.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Listen, guys, I don't want anybody to panic after this week.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: This is week one.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: There's always gonna be a uh a bunch of freaking bombs, week one.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: You're gonna have a couple guys that have like really big games.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: So look at the matchups, right?
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: You have Jameer Gibbs.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Congratulations, man.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: You get one of the best opening weeks.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, big time.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: In football, right?
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: Or B.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: John Robinson, right?
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, you know those guys are gonna get it, right?
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Amon Ra.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: So, anyways, uh yeah, I'm getting totally sidetracked.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Go ahead, Joe, take over where you were at.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Well, I said I was just gonna say, let's um, you know, I I do want to talk about week one specifically, just because I have been there so many times where I make emotional when you know, now I've calmed down a little bit, but when I when I first started playing fantasy, I would make emotional decisions a lot, and it would cost me games and eventually it cost me the playoffs.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: So don't put too much stock into week one, don't even put too much stock into week two.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Around week three or four is when you really start to see what these teams are doing and what your team is doing.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: So don't make emotional decisions like I used to do.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Also, a word of advice don't go crazy with the trading.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Um, I know we talked about we were gonna wait for that, but I think this would be the perfect time to bring that up, Joe.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: Something about trade.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: Go ahead and give these guys some background on what what was happening here.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: So in the Champions League, which Manny is the commissioner, he had first pick and I had second pick.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: So not rigged, I swear.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course, that's what the whole chat was saying.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: But I could I just started laughing at first.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: I was about to start talking shit, and then I saw I was number two, so I just kept my mouth shut.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Oh hey guys, by the way, for the record, the draft order is randomized one hour before draft.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's that's how that kind of commissioner since day one.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: That's how I do it.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: So first time I've ever gotten first overall pick.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: So of course I'm gonna go with Gibbs, of course.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: And so what happened was when we were coming towards round three, it was the end of round two.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: It was my obviously it's coming back to me.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: So I saw on the board Nico Collins and Trey McBride, and I know that Manny loves Nico, I know he loves him, he's very high on him, and I also knew that Manny typically will wait on tight ends until the much later rounds, but I also knew in another draft that he took Trey McBride in round three.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: So I was thinking I could take Nico Collins because I know if I don't take Nico, Manny's gonna grab him immediately on the next pick.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: So I figured I could take Nico and then cross my fingers that I get Trey McBride on the way back, or I could tame I could take Trey McBride, and Manny's gonna definitely take Nico.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: So I chose Nico, the very next pick.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Manny took Trey McBride, and I was very disappointed.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: My son was drafting.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: My son was drafting with me, and he was telling me to pick Trey McBride.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: As soon as he saw Manny pick it, he just walks away from the computer.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: He was all his stuff, but um, but I really wanted Trey McBride, and we decided to put a few trades together.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: We were going back and forth all day, and then we find we finally came to an agreement that I feel like made sense for both of us.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, and I agree, Joe.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: It was funny because um what happened during that draft?
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Uh Joe actually sniped me twice in that draft.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: I did.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: So he ended up picking um uh Nico for that pick, right?
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: So I was like, oh motherfucker.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: So I was like, Joe got got my guy.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: I thought he was gonna go Trey.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: That that was in my my thought process, right?
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: But I was like, oh, he got greedy.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: He might I got greedy, and that's why I didn't get Trey.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: So I got Trey, and I think Joe in retaliation when we came back, he picked Tet McMillan a pick before me.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: I was like, so he got two of my fucking guys.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: He has Nico and Tet, and you could get both of them like around rounds two to you know, two for Nico and like four for Ted.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Three or four for Tet, depending on your league, yeah.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: But you grabbed them both times and I was like, damn, I can't fucking and I knew exactly I knew exactly what I was doing.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: I knew you were gonna be pissed off at that one too, but I I had to because here's the thing, he was also probably the best player on the board, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: So I well, not not according to experts, because like if you look at the default ranking, they had him down a few spots, yeah, you know.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Um, but we've been high on him all offseason.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: So the final trade ended up being uh I got Trey McBride and Javante Williams and Michael Pittman Jr.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: And Manny got Nico Collins, Tet McMillan, and uh Travis Atien.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: So there was a little trade-off you could give the slight edge to Javante for running back.
- 12:44unknown: Yeah.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Manny Manny.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: I'd say I'd say Javante is like a whole tier above ETN.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: I think they're I think they're a little closer than their rankings, but yeah, the edge goes the edge goes to Javante at running back.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: You got the clear edge at wide receiver, but I did have you know on my bench I had DJ Moore and Wandale Robinson.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: So having hit those two with Pittman, I was comfortable with that.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: And then I got Trey McBride at tight end.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: So if you got your guy, it was it was a difficult decision, but you know, uh I discussed it with a couple of my friends and they were split.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: One of them liked Manny's side better, one of them liked my side better.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: I said, well, let's just pull the trigger on this.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it I mean, it could have gone either way, depending on what you need for your team.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: I know that I got exactly what I needed, you know, so I'm very happy, you know.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Um could but Joe got exactly what he needed, right?
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: Superstar at a tough position, right?
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: We were talking about this off air before we even got on.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: That typically your tight end, you're gonna expect 10 to 15 points, right?
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: And that's a good day for a ticket.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: 15's a great day for a tight end.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but when you got a guy like McBride or a Bowers, you have guys that could potentially give you 30 on a position that typically is going to be a lower output.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Um, so that does have a lot of upside play, especially if you have a deep bench, because you can still plug in some guys like like DJ Moore, Pittman, right?
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Like those are your starters, but then you also have some bench guys that could come in and play as well.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: And I and our bird, our benches look good too.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: So it was a trade that even though it was a blockbuster trade involving three high-level players, it was still a safe trade for both of us.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, not far off on the picks, right?
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for yeah, exactly.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: I noticed that.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: It's like you also sniped Javante, so you weren't completely innocent in this.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Well, Javante, man, that was the out.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: I told you, outside of Javante, it gets to the next tier running back, and that's ETN, yeah, that was Scadabow, you know, uh Jadarian Price, you know, those guys.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: That's that's third, don't get it retwisted.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Third tier is not a bad tier.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like you're still getting like 15 to 20 a game on third tier running backs, right?
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: But Javante is that 20 to 25 guy, right?
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: Like high, high floor, high ceiling, you know?
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: And Etienne has a high ceiling, but possibly a lower floor, right?
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: Because it's dependent upon how the Saints season develops, and Tyler Shaw looks, you know, this year.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do like their offense.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, it's like that's the thing is right after you picked Javante, I got Travis Etienne.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: It was the very next pick, you know.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: So we did it to each other, and it's something that happens at the turn uh with one and two and with 11 and 12.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: You know, you're gonna see that a lot.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: But yeah, yeah, that was it was funny because I was looking at it like, you know, your pick was like 24 and mine was 26.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: Like all of these players that we picked were just getting mixed up in the trade.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it would it was definitely we were picking uh near each other on both both leagues that we're in.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: So uh, and I like the fact this one I was one and then the other one I was 11.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: So my two favorite places either up front or in the back.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Now let's get into our hot matchups.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: I'll kick things off for us, Manny.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: I have the Saints versus the Lions.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Tyler Shuck and the improved Saints offense might actually be able to turn this game into a shootout.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: He has proven chemistry with his pass catchers.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: He's got Olave, Devon Vale, or Devon Vale, who, you know, he looked, he had flashes of greatness last year.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: We'll see how that pans out.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: But he's got Olave.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: He can dump the ball off to Travis Etienne and Juwan Johnson for short gains throughout the day.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And I don't expect them to win, but I believe the game will be more competitive than people think.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And I think that Olave, Travis Etienne, and Juwan Johnson are all people I would start.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, Olave and Travis Etienne for sure, but I would be pretty confident starting Juwan Johnson too.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: And even if the game is a blowout, which sometimes happens with the Lions, they just say, you know what, we're winning by two scores.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: We want to be winning by four.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: You know, they just keep the pedal to the medal, and you know, in that if that's the situation, then the Saints are gonna be having a catch up too.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: So, and then on the other side of the field, you got the Lions who are an absolute powerhouse.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: And like I said, even if the game becomes a blowout, we know they're gonna keep going strong.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: And they usually rely on their offense to create bigger gaps in the score rather than their defense.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: So we've got Jared Goff, Jameer Gibbs, Amon Ron St.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Brown, Jamison Williams, Sam Laporta.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Start all of them.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: These guys will make a statement, even against a respectable Saints defense.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, that definitely will have some fireworks.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, you mentioned all the guys from the Lions.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: That's one of the most efficient offenses in the NFL, you know, one of the most consistent offenses in the NFL, right?
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, I think this is their second year at their own coordinator.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: So uh they stepped away from letting Dan Campbell call it, which, you know, I think was the right decision.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: So now they get to kind of see the team have some consistency.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Um, but they're gonna highlight Gibbs, right?
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: So, you know, if you have him, congratulations to you.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, but outside of that, everybody else, you're right, is a good start.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Um, and I do think it will be one of those games where the Saints kind of play up to their competition.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: So you could see them scoring a lot, you know, on big plays, right?
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Like a big pass to Olave or you know, uh maybe Etienne catches a running back wheel, you know.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: So I I could see I could see it being a high scoring game for sure.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: It sounds sounds like a good one.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: For my hot matchup, I have the Dallas Cowboys versus the New York Giants.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: So it's good, it's starting off this season with a divisional rivalry.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: So this one's in New York, uh, and it's the first year under John Harbaugh.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna see the the Giants running offense very similar to what you've seen in Baltimore for the last few years, right?
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: So something centered around a quarterback.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: So I expect there to be a lot of fantasy points scored.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: So you starting off over here at Jackson Dart, you know, Malik Neighbors if he's healthy.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: You know, he was a you know amazing talent before that ACL tear, right?
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Let's see how he comes back.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, there's a couple guys, you know, Cam Scadabos coming back from injury, but you know, he looks he looks pretty good coming out of camp.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Um, and then on the opposite side, of course, Cowboys are one of the most efficient offenses in the league as well, right?
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: So CeeDee Lamb, you know, George Pickens, Javante Williams.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: There's we, I mean, we've been involved with them recently, you know, as far as in drafts.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: So those are guys that are are just gonna light it up.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Dallas always, you know, even if their defense isn't great, the offense uh is going to be.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I expect it to be a fun game.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: It is the Sunday night game, so it's gonna be the one game that's on, and I'm looking forward to it.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: And I'm actually surprised that Jackson Dart is going as late as I've seen in um pretty much all my drafts.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Like, I have him in two leagues just because he was hanging around way too long.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: So in like the 12th, 13th round, I was like, I guess I'll grab a backup quarterback, even though that wasn't my plan.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: It's just that he should he should be rostered.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: And I'm pretty high on Skataboo.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: I know that we have a small sample size to work with, uh, but I like him and I'm very high on Malik Neighbors.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, I feel like when he's healthy, he could easily be a top five.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: And uh Dallas, just a high-powered offense all around with Pickens and CeeDee Lamb and Javante Williams, and and even Jake Ferguson in the red zone.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: You know, you've got plenty of weapons on that offense.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: I actually have Dak on one of my fantasy teams too, another guy that was just hanging around way too long.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: So I grabbed him as my QB1, and I'm totally cool with that because he comes to play every single year, and there's gonna be a lot of points in that Sunday night game.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Now, for my cold call, I have the Bills versus the Texans.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: The Texans defense is legit, and they've given Josh Allen fits over the last two years.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: Their offense has potential, of course.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: The Texans offense has potential, but I feel like we hear that every single year, and they don't follow through.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: So I want to see a few gains before I can put my confidence behind CJ Stroud.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Of course, Nico Collins is a must-start.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: I think David Montgomery is a pretty automatic start, too.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Uh, but I just wouldn't expect a huge game from them.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: I think that you're gonna have to wait and see a couple weeks how this team is.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, Nico Collins is gonna be great every week, but I feel like with CJ Stroud and David Montgomery, we need a few weeks to see exactly how that's gonna pan out.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: And I have them on a couple different teams, so.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: I would love to see this.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: I'd love to be wrong and see them just kick ass this game, but my gut is telling me to lower my expectations.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: And if you have the Texans D, of course you're going to want to start them because, like I was saying, they are probably the best defense in the NFL.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: And they have given Josh Allen and the Bills a hard time the last couple years.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: So they are 0-2.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: The Bills are 0-2 against the Texans over the last two seasons.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: And Josh Allen struggled and finished well below his projected output.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: James Cook, he did fine.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: On the other hand, he was serviceable.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: But Josh Allen in 2025 last year, he had 273 total yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: And he finished with eight fantasy points, and they lost 19 to 23.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Now that same game, James Cook had 129 total yards and three receptions and a touchdown.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: So he finished with 19 points.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's great.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: I'll take that every week.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: But then if you go back another year, Josh Allen had 185 total yards and one touchdown, finishing with 14 and a half fantasy points, which isn't bad.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: But for Josh Allen, you want to see like 24, not 14.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: And they lost that game, 20 to 23.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: James Cook also had a decent game there, where 99 total yards, two catches, and a touchdown, finishing with 17 fantasy points.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously, Josh Allen and James Cook are automatic starts.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying it might be a tough day.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: It might be a low-scoring game, like the last two years have been.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And I would only start DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid if you don't have a better option.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: And I would just lower my expectations for the Bills offense as a whole because it's likely going to be a grind, especially if the Texas D is better than last season, like we're hearing.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Listen, and I and I tell everybody, hamper your expectations for all your players, guys, first few weeks.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: It's all good, man.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Don't don't hit the emergency eject button yet.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: Um, but as far as that matchup, you you're right.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: You know, if it wasn't for the Rams getting Aaron Donald recently, that's uh the Texans were the number one defense until that happened, right?
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: And then they became number two.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: So I think those are your top two defenses, are the Rams and the Texans.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: So um, you know, and I don't think Buffalo has enough to really run the tables on them yet, right?
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Um and and and honestly, I think Houston, you know, uh, I mean, they're trying to find who their wide receivers are, right?
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: They had Jaden Higgins go down with the you know ACL.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Uh Tank Dell's on IR still.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: He's not coming back to like week five.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: So they have, you know, they're very limited on options outside of Nico Collins.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: So, you know, uh I definitely expect that to.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited as hell to watch that game.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna do the quad box on uh Sunday NFL ticket.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna watch it four games at once.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Of course you are.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm doing too.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: But no, like you said, it's kind of like with the Texans, you're kind of just like, ah, I'm not sure yet.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: And this is um week one, you know, new situation for David Montgomery.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Down two receivers.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: CJ Stroud still trying to find his stride.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: The only guy I'm not worried about is Nico.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: So all right.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: Now for my cold call, so this is gonna be the garbage bowl game of the week.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be your New York City Jets versus the Tennessee Titans.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: I do like the Titans better in this one, guys.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I think Cam Ward's a good quarterback.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: He got Carnell Tate.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm excited to see what they can do together.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, but it's still gonna be their first uh official game together ever.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: So, you know, there's gonna be some growing pains.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I expect that to be more of a later season improvement, right?
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: But if we're talking about this week, I mean, everyone's gonna be starting Brees Hall excited as hell about it.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: I would not be too excited because Tennessee's defense has been really good over the last few years, led by Jeffrey Simmons, the D-tackle.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: That guy's a fricking monster.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: Um, so I expect them to, you know, start beating up on the the Jets run game, right?
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: And once you knock out the Jets run game, what do they have going for them, you know, besides Garrett Wilson, right?
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: So it's it's not something that I'm gonna be looking at on on on anybody for the Jets side with any trust, only disdain, you know, fear that that they are gonna shit the bed.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: And I knew they were gonna shit the bed, and I still started them.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: So that that's the only thing I I feel.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Um, but on the Tennessee side, uh, I mean, I have Cornell Tate.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: I'm still not like excited with starting him.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: I have him on my bench.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: So, you know, it's just one of those situations.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: I I believe in the guys long term.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: I like Tony Pollard, you know, but he's gonna be an RB3 at best.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: So that's where I'm at.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: I feel like the way you describe that uh it is perfect and applies to both teams.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: There's gonna be a lot of growing pains.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: You're you've got a lot of players in new situations.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: You know, the only one, even even the players that are returning, like Garrett Wilson and Brees Hall, they have a new quarterback, and this is the first game of the season.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: And then with Tennessee, you've got a lot of moving pieces there.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: You know, you're not really sure what to expect on either side of the field.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: It might be somewhat entertaining in real football, but for fantasy purposes, I'm out.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, hell yeah.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: Now, how about we go over our shit call of the week, Joe?
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: Well, we can't really predict exactly if it was shit yet, but let's talk about some potential shit.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, all right.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm I'm trying to free free like wing this and freestyle it.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: So tell me, Joe, what what is your uh shit call of the week, or what can be presumed as shit?
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: Well, after we got the Josh Jacobs news, you know, we'll we'll just we're gonna find out this week if he's gonna be playing a little earlier or a little later.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Um, but before we got that news, I had already drafted Marshawn Lynch, or sorry, I keep saying Lynch, Marshawn Lloyd in two leagues.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: And I was thinking he's got a shelf life maybe of about six weeks.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: We'll see, could be longer, and we haven't really seen him play that much, so we don't really know what to expect from him either.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: I was just banking on the idea of Jacobs missing six weeks, and hey, it could be two months that he misses, could be the whole season, or it could be two weeks.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: We just don't know.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: So that's why it's a potential shit call.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: If we find out that Jacobs is back at the top of the line in the depth chart by next week, then Marshawn Lloyd was just a wasted pick for me, and I have him in two leagues.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: I kind of like strayed away from him.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: I had a few guys that I ranked ahead of him, and he was on, you know, I feel like he was getting drafted a little bit earlier than I wanted to draft him because I was looking at him more like an eighth round target, seventh and eighth, and I think he was going in like the sixth, right?
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: Six or seven.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: I was getting him much later, which is why I took him.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: So I got him around eighth.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's not bad.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's that's not saying it's not bad, it's just that it could it could actually be a wasted pick, or maybe just a pick that gets me a week or two.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: I don't think that's gonna be the case.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying it's a possibility.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: So I could have stepped in a big pile of shit with him.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, or if he's if he does play for the first six weeks, right?
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: You got a a guaranteed like solid starter that you can plug and play.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Hopefully.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: My shit call of the week.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: So uh I know typically for drafts, they're always running back heavy, right?
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: And all my leagues always have been, always will be, you know, everyone uh devours the running backs.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: So uh my shit call was, you know, not necessarily a shit call.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: It's uh something that put myself in a little bit of a bind.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: By the time I got to uh running backs, all the running backs that were projected from the first to the uh fourth round were all picked by the third round.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: So, like guys that you're presuming that you could take them later, they're all getting picked, right?
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: So I'm a big believer of you know, take the best talent available, right?
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: So I ended up going like heavy with wide receivers, and by the time I was able to come back around to grab running backs at their ADP, I was only able to get a couple of them.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: So I ended up being in a position where I have one less running back than I like to run on my team, uh, which I'm gonna resolve because I got like uh a couple extra really good receivers, and someone's gonna need one.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: So uh that's kind of my shit call, is I gotta figure out a trade from now until then or a waiver wire pickup that I can use to upgrade that.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I actually did that a lot too because I had third pick in three leagues, and I had fourth pick in one league.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: So I have Jamar Chase in three leagues, and I have Puka Nakua in one league.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, it's it's just the way things work out sometimes.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: You take the best available.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: That's never my intention.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: How many times have we said running back, running back, running back, running back?
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: And you're right, by the end of the second round, you're looking at the scraps.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: So I'm not that confident in my running backs um compared to previous years, but I still have some legit guys.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: We're gonna have to wait and see.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: But regardless, I built myself to score a lot of points, right?
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: So even if I am short on running backs, I could plug and play that second spot.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: Though I have one guaranteed starter, um, and you know, I'm just gonna play it to the best of my ability.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: If I gotta play George Pickens as my flex every single week, fuck it.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: I'll take the 25 points.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: Listen, we we appreciate you guys.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: This is only the second episode of the season.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: You know, this is year number four, right, Joe?
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: We've been.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's right.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Fourth year.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: So we have seen some uh steady growth, you know.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: So we appreciate all of the love, all the support, guys.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Make sure to share us.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: You know, this is uh more than just you know, uh a hobby, right?
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: This is something that we love.
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: We are fancy football addicts.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: All right, we love it.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: It's like drugs to us.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: So please support us, support our drug habit.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: Hey, we even got new backdrops.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Manny and I both got new backdrops.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: So hey, I'm moving up.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Give me those fonts.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: We'll put a put a little uh glow.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: What do they call those glowing signs?
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: We'll put a couple of those behind you.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, neon signs.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: Neon signs, yeah.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I gotta get something.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Probably a Hooter sign or something.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: But they sponsor us, sure.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Hey, I'll do it.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: Free wings for life, baby.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, I I really appreciate you guys.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: You know, thank you so much for coming out again.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: You know, Joe, you got anything for these guys?
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: Uh just look forward to the player profiles.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: We're gonna be starting those next week.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, might even, you know, think about dropping a couple this week if I can come up with something worthwhile to talk about.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: But usually you got to wait until week one is over to really think about making some more waiver moves.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: All right, guys.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: Well, we'll see you here next week at the same time, same place.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: Thank you for everything, guys.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: We love you.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: Have a good rest of your night.
