- 1:52Speaker 2: we will be diving into what you need to know
- 1:56Speaker 2: for the Buffalo Bills versus New England Patriots in week four.
- 1:59Speaker 2: What will decide this game? the matchups you need to know,
- 2:03Speaker 2: the X's and O's, the players, the schematics, the structures,
- 2:06Speaker 2: the metrics, anything and everything that you need to be
- 2:09Speaker 2: paying attention to and watching for in this game. Apologies
- 2:14Speaker 2: for not doing an episode last week. Life hit me fast.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I meant to do something towards the back end of
- 2:19Speaker 2: last week, but life kept hitting me with a decent
- 2:22Speaker 2: amount of speed. And then this week, this episode, obviously
- 2:25Speaker 2: dropping Tuesday, 9 p.m. Eastern, but it is not live.
- 2:29Speaker 2: The reason it is not live is because we recorded
- 2:31Speaker 2: this episode offline. And when I say we, it's because
- 2:35Speaker 2: I'm joined by a guest. And the reason we record
- 2:37Speaker 2: it offline is so I can accommodate that guest. If
- 2:40Speaker 2: you are a regular watcher or listener of this show,
- 2:44Speaker 2: it should be no surprise at this point. Anytime Bill's
- 2:46Speaker 2: Patriots comes around, me and this guest collaborate in a
- 2:49Speaker 2: multitude of forms and fashions. So without further ado, I
- 2:53Speaker 2: am joined by a regular.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Guest, Mr.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Taylor Hicks.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Kyle's beat reporter for the new England Patriots for CLNS media.
- 3:04Speaker 2: One of the best in the business. Somebody who I say,
- 3:07Speaker 2: you know, granted your background, you're, you're in the beat now,
- 3:10Speaker 2: but you didn't come from that world. You come from
- 3:11Speaker 2: a world of metrics and schematics. You actually know football.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And I appreciated you before, before you were on the
- 3:17Speaker 2: Pat's beat, but I appreciate you even more now because
- 3:20Speaker 2: you are one of, I'd say across all fan base
- 3:24Speaker 2: or teams, I should say. And not that I know everybody,
- 3:26Speaker 2: I would say you're one of a few, a handful,
- 3:29Speaker 2: maybe a handful of beat guys who actually know real schematics,
- 3:35Speaker 2: real football, who can see a coverage, talk about it,
- 3:37Speaker 2: what it is. This is the concept that happened on offense.
- 3:40Speaker 2: It's what had me gravitate towards you in the first
- 3:43Speaker 2: place before you were even on the Patriots beat when
- 3:45Speaker 2: you first joined me several, several years ago. You are phenomenal.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I appreciate you taking the time to join me. Welcome
- 3:50Speaker 2: back to the show.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Thank you very much, pal. So flattering as always.
- 3:54Speaker 3: You know, I adore you. I told you on my
- 3:57Speaker 3: show that I want to be like you when I
- 3:59Speaker 3: grow up. So hearing all those kind words always really
- 4:02Speaker 3: does hit me in my sensitive place. But I'm just
- 4:05Speaker 3: glad to be back, man. These are always my favorite
- 4:07Speaker 3: conversations of the year. You know Ball better than a
- 4:10Speaker 3: lot of people. And I learn a lot from you.
- 4:12Speaker 3: And I love the stuff that you do on Twitter.
- 4:15Speaker 1: On here. So, and I also love your fan base.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I'm kind of sad. I'm not going to get to
- 4:18Speaker 1: see the comments.
- 4:18Speaker 3: One of my favorite parts about coming on the show
- 4:21Speaker 3: is how educated your fan base is, how passionate they
- 4:23Speaker 3: are and how respectful they are when, um, a division
- 4:26Speaker 3: rival comes and, you know, just starts spouting whatever's going
- 4:29Speaker 3: to come out of my mouth today. So I miss, uh,
- 4:31Speaker 3: the live audience, but I can't wait to see the
- 4:33Speaker 3: comments and I'm just glad.
- 4:34Speaker 1: To be back.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Of course you are, uh, one of my favorite
- 4:38Speaker 2: guests that come onto the show. And yeah, I, uh,
- 4:41Speaker 2: I love the live chat, the engagement. It's the best too.
- 4:43Speaker 2: When like I can, I have stuff planned, but it's
- 4:45Speaker 2: almost like I can ditch the content. Cause there's all
- 4:48Speaker 2: these questions and thoughts that are coming through the chat
- 4:50Speaker 2: and I'm like, Oh, this is good. And so it's
- 4:51Speaker 2: just a different tangent to kind of talk about different
- 4:53Speaker 2: things and get into the weeds. And, uh, yeah. So
- 4:56Speaker 2: shout out to the live chat that we are not
- 4:57Speaker 2: engaging with, but if you are watching this, you know, Tuesday,
- 5:01Speaker 2: 9 PM Eastern or what, any point questions, thoughts, comments, concerns,
- 5:04Speaker 2: put them into the comments on YouTube. Uh, Get at
- 5:07Speaker 2: me on Twitter, get at me on Blue Sky, anything
- 5:09Speaker 2: and everything. But yeah, put those into YouTube. I'm always
- 5:12Speaker 2: circling back and we'll make sure to get anything and
- 5:15Speaker 2: everything answered and engaged and all that kind of stuff.
- 5:17Speaker 2: We will be diving into, you know, the matchups that
- 5:20Speaker 2: will decide Bills versus Patriots. We each have three. But
- 5:23Speaker 2: before we get into that, Taylor, a couple questions for you.
- 5:25Speaker 2: You know, the Patriots are reeling at this stage. You know,
- 5:29Speaker 2: one and two are really ugly loss to the Jacksonville
- 5:31Speaker 2: Jaguars this past week. Football is never as easy as, oh,
- 5:36Speaker 2: if you fix this one thing or change this one player,
- 5:38Speaker 2: everything gets better. But if you could fix one thing
- 5:43Speaker 2: with the Patriots right now, it could be something high
- 5:46Speaker 2: level and structural. It could be like the entire offensive line,
- 5:49Speaker 2: the entire offense, or this one player, this one coach,
- 5:52Speaker 2: this one thing. If you could fix one thing with
- 5:55Speaker 2: the New England Patriots right now, what would it be
- 5:57Speaker 2: and why?
- 5:58Speaker 1: How realistic does that have to be?
- 5:59Speaker 3: Because honestly, I wish I could say I wish they
- 6:02Speaker 3: were healthier.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Is that acceptable?
- 6:04Speaker 2: It can be unrealistic. I just want to know, like,
- 6:07Speaker 2: it helps point in the direction of somebody who knows
- 6:09Speaker 2: this team inside and out. I think it points a
- 6:12Speaker 2: good or puts a good, like, focus or lens on,
- 6:15Speaker 2: you know, it's not realistic to fix this, but this
- 6:18Speaker 2: is the thing that is the biggest problem.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I really think it is injuries because they are
- 6:23Speaker 3: getting mollywhopped. by the injury bug this year. Now, last year,
- 6:27Speaker 3: as you often see with Super Bowl teams, they got
- 6:29Speaker 3: very lucky when it came to injuries. I think they've
- 6:31Speaker 3: already surpassed the number of people on injured reserve that
- 6:34Speaker 3: they had to place on there last year. So you
- 6:36Speaker 3: understand just how bad this is because we are three
- 6:38Speaker 3: weeks in. And even going back to the summer, depth
- 6:41Speaker 3: was an area of concern in multiple spots. It's something
- 6:43Speaker 3: that Mike Vrabel even acknowledged. He's been very honest about it,
- 6:46Speaker 3: said that depth was something he was worried about. And now,
- 6:48Speaker 3: even after the loss of Jacksonville, he said his concern
- 6:50Speaker 3: level for this team is high.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And look, nothing's going great necessarily and there's.
- 6:55Speaker 3: A lot of things you could point to that the
- 6:56Speaker 3: Patriots could be doing better Drake May is probably at
- 6:58Speaker 3: the top of that list his play and not just
- 7:01Speaker 3: you know there are times where you do see the
- 7:03Speaker 3: Drake May of last season where he's elevating the offense
- 7:05Speaker 3: and kind of getting him out of bad situations with
- 7:07Speaker 3: his talent there's also a lot of times where he's
- 7:09Speaker 3: actively putting them in bad spots and I'm sure we'll
- 7:11Speaker 3: get into that later but it's hard to look at
- 7:14Speaker 3: what's happening around him and not kind of feel for
- 7:16Speaker 3: the 24 year old third year quarterback because AJ Brown
- 7:20Speaker 3: Goes down in week one.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Now, granted, it wasn't a great throw from Drake May.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It was a low throw behind him to A.J. Brown
- 7:25Speaker 1: on a slant.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Because of the adjustment that Brown had to make, he
- 7:28Speaker 3: ends up suffering a high ankle sprain. And you also
- 7:30Speaker 3: have Mike and Wendy, who you could argue is their
- 7:32Speaker 3: best offensive lineman. He suffered an ankle injury and now,
- 7:35Speaker 3: at least for the foreseeable future, is on injured reserve.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Eli Raritan, who was one of my favorite players in
- 7:41Speaker 1: the draft.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I actually had him as my guy for the Patriots
- 7:44Speaker 3: because I loved his potential in a Josh McDaniels offense.
- 7:47Speaker 3: He missed last week. due to a thigh injury. The
- 7:50Speaker 3: Patriots' backup right guard, Greg Van Roten, also suffered a
- 7:53Speaker 3: thigh injury. Now he is on injured reserve. But also
- 7:57Speaker 3: Reggie Gilliam, who I know Bill's fans are very familiar with.
- 8:00Speaker 3: He was kind of on and off the field in
- 8:03Speaker 3: the summer.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I know he got married.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Congratulations to him. But also it felt like, I mean,
- 8:07Speaker 3: he's a 30-year-old fullback. Very tough position to.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Play at that age. I think they had him on
- 8:12Speaker 1: a bit of a pitch count in the summer.
- 8:14Speaker 3: And now in the last game, it felt like something
- 8:16Speaker 3: was up with him because Tanner Arkin played a decent
- 8:18Speaker 3: amount of fullback. I don't know how much that was injury-related,
- 8:20Speaker 3: how much that was personnel, and then just wanting to
- 8:22Speaker 3: show a new wrinkle. But even Reggie Gilliam has been
- 8:24Speaker 3: kind of banged up in someone that I maybe thought
- 8:27Speaker 3: was going to have a bigger role in this offense.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So there are just so many areas where they are
- 8:31Speaker 1: not healthy.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And then when you compound that with the fact that
- 8:34Speaker 3: Keyshawn Booty was traded away, for understandable reasons, he didn't
- 8:37Speaker 3: want to be here because he wasn't going to get
- 8:38Speaker 3: opportunities to get himself a big contract next year.
- 8:41Speaker 1: And also.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Mike Vrabel said that he was going to end up
- 8:44Speaker 3: being inactive on game days if he was on the
- 8:46Speaker 3: roster because he doesn't bring anything on special teams. Egg
- 8:48Speaker 3: on their face right now doesn't look good, but when
- 8:51Speaker 3: you don't have a Kayshaun Booty X to make up
- 8:53Speaker 3: for no A.J. Brown, and then it's even further compounded
- 8:56Speaker 3: by the fact that Drake May is kind of building
- 8:58Speaker 3: chemistry with some of these guys like Romeo Dobbs, and
- 9:00Speaker 3: he doesn't have Stephon Diggs, who he was nearly automatic
- 9:03Speaker 3: with last season, had the highest catch rate in the league,
- 9:05Speaker 3: did Stephon Diggs.
- 9:06Speaker 1: You're seeing how that's impacting the offense. And now we
- 9:09Speaker 1: talk about defense.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Craig Woodson, who is one of the best players they
- 9:12Speaker 3: have in that secondary, didn't play last week.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Draymond Jones didn't play last week either.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Which gave Ackes their second-round pick to play way more snaps.
- 9:22Speaker 3: They had to elevate someone or slide someone from the
- 9:24Speaker 3: practice squad to actually end up playing.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm starting to lose breath. A lot of injuries.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Carlton Davis missed the game a couple weeks ago, so
- 9:33Speaker 3: it just feels like whack-a-mole. Or if it's not one thing,
- 9:35Speaker 3: it's another. And if it's this one thing, they're going
- 9:37Speaker 3: to keep hitting that same hole. And it's just going
- 9:40Speaker 3: to end up, you know, where you're at your fourth
- 9:42Speaker 3: option at guard. So I really wish this team was
- 9:45Speaker 3: healthier because while there are plenty of areas where you
- 9:48Speaker 3: could say, hey, they could definitely be better.
- 9:50Speaker 1: It's just made so much.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Worse by how many impactful players, especially on offense, aren't
- 9:55Speaker 3: even on the field.
- 9:57Speaker 2: That's fair. I, it's always stuck with me.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I don't remember.
- 10:02Speaker 2: It might've been, I think it was the super bowl.
- 10:05Speaker 2: The Packers won against the Steelers where Charles Woodson got
- 10:09Speaker 2: hurt mid game, but it was sometime in the playoffs
- 10:11Speaker 2: before that. I don't remember who said it, but it
- 10:15Speaker 2: was like usually, or, you know, traditionally it's, the teams
- 10:19Speaker 2: that make the super bowl coincidentally or not tend to
- 10:22Speaker 2: be the healthiest teams. It's not necessarily like, who's the
- 10:25Speaker 2: best it's who's the healthiest, like who has the most
- 10:27Speaker 2: amount of starters that are left on the team. And
- 10:30Speaker 2: then you can, you know, niche down on that and
- 10:32Speaker 2: be like, okay, like, well, is it guys that are hurt?
- 10:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Are they just at whatever positions are they at premium positions?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Like how good, what's the impact. And the Pat's injuries
- 10:40Speaker 2: are mounting and it does matter. And I mean, the
- 10:44Speaker 2: bills are, no stranger to injuries these past several years,
- 10:47Speaker 2: they've been hit hard, especially come playoff time, you know,
- 10:49Speaker 2: famously calling AJ Klein off of a cruise several years
- 10:54Speaker 2: ago to start at linebacker and the division round gets
- 10:56Speaker 2: the chiefs. Like it hits you hard. Life comes at
- 10:59Speaker 2: you fast, man. And then the second question I want
- 11:02Speaker 2: to ask you before we get into the matchup pieces,
- 11:04Speaker 2: Drake may, I'm sure, I'm sure we'll get into a
- 11:06Speaker 2: more in this conversation as we go forward. But for you,
- 11:10Speaker 2: the biggest difference in him this year, versus last year.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Well, granted last year, we had a whole sample size
- 11:16Speaker 2: this year. We're only three games in, but is there
- 11:18Speaker 2: something that you've seen thus far that he wasn't doing
- 11:21Speaker 2: last year or he wasn't doing at this stage last year?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Like what for you is the biggest difference in him
- 11:28Speaker 2: as he started year three versus what he was last
- 11:30Speaker 2: year in year two?
- 11:32Speaker 1: The biggest thing is the decision-making because I didn't think
- 11:35Speaker 1: Drake made was perfect last year.
- 11:37Speaker 3: And while I, He was doing some crazy stuff, but
- 11:39Speaker 3: it was undeniable. There were still plenty of areas where
- 11:41Speaker 3: he needed to grow, and turnovers were the biggest one.
- 11:44Speaker 3: It wasn't so much throwing interceptions, because I think for
- 11:46Speaker 3: the most part, for a quarterback who's as aggressive as
- 11:48Speaker 3: he is, I think Drake May actually does a really
- 11:50Speaker 3: nice job of picking his shots and not throwing into
- 11:53Speaker 3: bad windows, or at least did when he was playing
- 11:54Speaker 3: well last year.
- 11:56Speaker 1: But fumbles are really the biggest problem. Fumbles and bad sacks.
- 12:00Speaker 3: This year, it's just straight up throwing into bad windows,
- 12:04Speaker 3: pressing when he doesn't need to.
- 12:05Speaker 1: It's starting to feel a lot like the Super Bowl.
- 12:07Speaker 3: And even in the playoffs when he wasn't playing great,
- 12:10Speaker 3: it didn't feel like he was making really egregiously bad
- 12:13Speaker 3: decisions very often until, again, the Super Bowl game gets
- 12:16Speaker 3: away from him and you really start seeing him look
- 12:17Speaker 3: like a young quarterback. And you were hoping this season
- 12:20Speaker 3: with more on his plate, with being able to, you know,
- 12:23Speaker 3: play with more tempo and change plays at the line
- 12:27Speaker 3: and do all these things that just make a quarterback's
- 12:28Speaker 3: job a little bit easier, especially in that, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 3: Patriots-Josh McDaniel system.
- 12:33Speaker 1: But now, one, the injuries are really hurting.
- 12:35Speaker 3: And I think the fact that he doesn't have the
- 12:37Speaker 3: familiarity he had with the Keyshawn Booty or Stephon Diggs
- 12:40Speaker 3: and now doesn't even have A.J.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Brown to make up for it, I think it's that.
- 12:43Speaker 3: The fact that he's also playing very good defenses that
- 12:46Speaker 3: are not letting him just throw the ball over the
- 12:47Speaker 3: top and are saying, yeah, no, we're going to dare
- 12:49Speaker 3: you to take the shortstop this entire game. And if
- 12:52Speaker 3: you don't, we're going to be right there to make
- 12:54Speaker 3: you pay for it. And there's other things, like sometimes
- 12:57Speaker 3: his pocket presence hasn't been great, where he's not capitalizing
- 13:01Speaker 3: on clean pockets and stepping up or transferring up into
- 13:04Speaker 3: the pocket, keeping his size downfield. Week two, there was
- 13:07Speaker 3: a horrendous sack he took against T.J. Watt, where he
- 13:09Speaker 3: drifts right into him. Morgan Moses has a good block.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Then it ends up being a sack in a crucial
- 13:13Speaker 3: moment before halftime. Really put the Patriots in a bad spot.
- 13:17Speaker 3: But that's considered decision-making. Like, why are we drifting into
- 13:20Speaker 3: the pass rush when you can step up? putting the
- 13:23Speaker 3: ball in bad spots, especially in some crucial moments like
- 13:25Speaker 3: in the red zone. Right now, Drake has two red
- 13:27Speaker 3: zone interceptions, one that sealed the game against the Seahawks
- 13:30Speaker 3: on a really, really bad decision. And then last week
- 13:33Speaker 3: against the Jaguars, he throws to Epton Chisholm when it
- 13:36Speaker 3: looked like if you had paused it and you didn't
- 13:37Speaker 3: know who was throwing, you would think Travis Hunter was
- 13:39Speaker 3: playing offense because he quite literally ran the route for
- 13:42Speaker 3: Epton Chisholm. And it's not like we're seeing a completely
- 13:46Speaker 3: different Drake May, where like with Matt Jones towards the end,
- 13:49Speaker 3: you were like, I don't even see the quarterback I
- 13:52Speaker 3: used to see where he's being aggressive at times. And
- 13:55Speaker 3: it's like, I just do it more consistently. It really
- 13:57Speaker 3: looked like somebody who was completely shell shocked. That's not
- 13:59Speaker 3: what I see from Drake. I would say for the
- 14:02Speaker 3: most part, he's still outnumbering the bad plays with good plays,
- 14:06Speaker 3: even if there's more, some weeks than others, but it's
- 14:09Speaker 3: the five plays you look at and you're like, dude,
- 14:11Speaker 3: three or five.
- 14:12Speaker 1: You can't do this.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Like he gets the Seahawks really smart, pretty good game
- 14:16Speaker 3: for three quarters, four quarters, brain falls out of his head.
- 14:19Speaker 3: And then you're forcing deep shots into bad situations and
- 14:22Speaker 3: you get intercepted three times. So it's that kind of
- 14:24Speaker 3: thing where it's every quarterback is going to make mistakes.
- 14:27Speaker 3: But what are your five worst plays look like? Are you,
- 14:30Speaker 3: you know, not taking advantage of a window maybe, which
- 14:32Speaker 3: is not the most egregious mistake, but is glaring when
- 14:35Speaker 3: it's a Drake May and you know he wants to
- 14:36Speaker 3: take those shots. It's like those we can work on, right?
- 14:39Speaker 3: That's not as much of a confidence thing that I'm
- 14:41Speaker 3: worried about. It's when you're turning the ball over and
- 14:44Speaker 3: then maybe that starts creeping up into your head that
- 14:46Speaker 3: you can't avoid them. And then your confidence is like, well,
- 14:49Speaker 3: do I be aggressive here? Do I be conservative here?
- 14:51Speaker 3: And that's where I start getting worried. So you still
- 14:54Speaker 3: see Drake May in there. It's just at some point
- 14:57Speaker 3: he's got to grow up as a quarterback and just
- 14:59Speaker 3: stop putting his team in bad situations.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Because, look, the MVP season is going to win you
- 15:03Speaker 1: a lot of grace.
- 15:04Speaker 3: But at some point, if you are the reason you're losing,
- 15:07Speaker 3: as we saw with Matt Jones, who also bought himself
- 15:09Speaker 3: quite a bit of grace in a bad situation, people
- 15:11Speaker 3: are going to start turning against you.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I don't think we're there.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I think, again, Drake May is fine right now and
- 15:16Speaker 3: has time. but I don't like what I've been seeing.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And he really needs to correct that, especially this weekend
- 15:21Speaker 3: against the division rival in a very important game, harsh
- 15:24Speaker 3: environment when you really need to win because one in
- 15:26Speaker 3: three is a scary hole to have to beat yourself out.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Of. I, I second your notion of decision-making. Um, and
- 15:35Speaker 2: a lot of, a lot of it is because at
- 15:37Speaker 2: this time last year, uh, you know, my biggest thing
- 15:41Speaker 2: for him was like, Oh, what's the difference? I was like, well,
- 15:43Speaker 2: the athleticism still there, the armistice. I was like, it's
- 15:45Speaker 2: the decision-making like McDaniels has him playing in rhythm and
- 15:48Speaker 2: on time and his eyes are in the right place
- 15:50Speaker 2: and he's making the right decisions. And I do think
- 15:52Speaker 2: that there's, you know, some footwork has kind of gotten
- 15:55Speaker 2: wonky a little bit for him this year. But I
- 15:58Speaker 2: think mechanics are something everybody always kind of has to
- 16:00Speaker 2: tighten up, especially as you're a young quarterback. I mean,
- 16:03Speaker 2: Josh Allen, I think Bill's fans should know that more
- 16:05Speaker 2: than anyone, like every year was a mechanic change of
- 16:07Speaker 2: significance for our first, first, like, four or five years,
- 16:10Speaker 2: you know, he's working with Jordan Palmer and the off
- 16:14Speaker 2: season quarterbacks coach to fix all this stuff and do everything.
- 16:17Speaker 2: But yeah, it's the decision-making for me. I thought that was,
- 16:20Speaker 2: that's what got him into trouble at times in North Carolina.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Like it was the same. You saw the athleticism and
- 16:24Speaker 2: the arm and all this stuff. And then he'd do
- 16:26Speaker 2: something that you were like, why.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Would you even try that?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Or what would you do?
- 16:29Speaker 1: What, what goes on in your brain?
- 16:31Speaker 2: And I think you're seeing some more of that this year.
- 16:33Speaker 2: And it started with Seattle. And I do think what's interesting,
- 16:36Speaker 2: the Seattle game, the Jacksonville game, like noticing that some
- 16:39Speaker 2: of the poor decisions are starting to compound and snowball
- 16:42Speaker 2: a little bit. And now I wonder, is he is
- 16:45Speaker 2: it not just aggressiveness or decision making in general? Or
- 16:48Speaker 2: is he feeling like I got to make up for it? Like,
- 16:51Speaker 2: you know, is he feeling pressure and I got to
- 16:54Speaker 2: take it? Ironically, I hate comparing him and Alan all
- 16:56Speaker 2: the time, but Alan still does that. Alan makes a mistake.
- 17:01Speaker 2: And then he's like, I got to make up for
- 17:03Speaker 2: that mistake. And he wants it all back as soon
- 17:06Speaker 2: as he can. And if he makes another mistake, he
- 17:08Speaker 2: wants to get it all back twice as hard. And
- 17:11Speaker 2: then if he does something great, okay, here we go.
- 17:13Speaker 2: But if he doesn't, mistake three, mistake four, mistake five,
- 17:17Speaker 2: and all these things start to compound. And I think
- 17:19Speaker 2: May is showing a little bit of that this year
- 17:21Speaker 2: and how hard it's kind of hitting him. And so, yeah,
- 17:25Speaker 2: I think the decision-making is interesting because it can be
- 17:27Speaker 2: a slippery slope when you make a poor decision and
- 17:30Speaker 2: it costs you And then how do you come back?
- 17:32Speaker 2: And it's interesting that he's kind of not correcting that
- 17:34Speaker 2: and kind of staying in that mindset or staying in
- 17:37Speaker 2: that mode. It's costing him a little bit. And I'm sure, again,
- 17:40Speaker 2: we will talk more about Drake May in this episode. Taylor,
- 17:44Speaker 2: we move towards the crux of the episode, what we
- 17:47Speaker 2: think will decide Bills vs. Patriots in week four. For
- 17:50Speaker 2: new viewers or listeners to the show or even the
- 17:52Speaker 2: regular ones, what we're going to do here is we're
- 17:54Speaker 2: each going to pick our top three matchup pieces, player pieces,
- 17:57Speaker 2: anything and everything that we think will decide Bills vs.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Patriots in week one. It could be something really niche
- 18:02Speaker 2: down and singular. It could be something large scale, you know,
- 18:05Speaker 2: cast a wide net type of thing. It could be
- 18:07Speaker 2: an entire side of the ball versus the other. It
- 18:09Speaker 2: could be a player. It could be this situational aspect.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Anything and everything is on the table. I do not
- 18:13Speaker 2: know Taylor's answers. He does not know mine. Taylor, you
- 18:16Speaker 2: are the guest. So you have the floor first. You can,
- 18:18Speaker 2: if you have these ranked, feel free to say, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 2: this is first, this is second, this is third. If
- 18:23Speaker 2: you don't have them ranked, that's fine. You can start
- 18:25Speaker 2: which with ever. with whichever one that you so choose.
- 18:28Speaker 2: The floor is yours. Give us the first thing that
- 18:30Speaker 2: you think will decide Bills versus Patriots in week four.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Well, you know I love the trenches.
- 18:35Speaker 3: And early on when I was doing my research, I'm
- 18:38Speaker 3: looking at some of the pass rush numbers for the Bills.
- 18:41Speaker 3: They're top everything as a team. Then the next layer, okay,
- 18:44Speaker 3: what is going on? Like, how are they so potent? Oh,
- 18:47Speaker 3: it's just Deion Walker and Greg Russo at the top
- 18:49Speaker 3: of like every match that you can think of, top
- 18:51Speaker 3: five or what have you. And then the tape was
- 18:54Speaker 3: also very impressive. Whereas we spoke about Greg Russo in
- 18:57Speaker 3: that long arm and his ability to build off of
- 18:59Speaker 3: that where makes you respect it. Then does a really
- 19:02Speaker 3: good job using his hands to shorten the edge. Cause
- 19:04Speaker 3: like maybe not the bendiest guy, but it doesn't matter
- 19:06Speaker 3: if offensive tackles have to respect you going through them
- 19:09Speaker 3: because that does open up some opportunities to, you know,
- 19:11Speaker 3: shorten that edge by attacking their hands.
- 19:14Speaker 1: He's done a great job with that.
- 19:16Speaker 3: And it gets Morgan Moses who I think he has
- 19:18Speaker 3: one sack in two hurries against Morgan Moses and their
- 19:21Speaker 3: entire career together. So we're talking like five or six years. Really,
- 19:24Speaker 3: Morgan Moses has had his number. I think that sack was.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Two years ago.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Morgan Moses right now dealing with a foot injury that's
- 19:31Speaker 3: really impacted, I think, his explosiveness and how wide he
- 19:33Speaker 3: can get in his set. When you're talking about Greg Rousseau,
- 19:36Speaker 3: who's going to be a little bit wider, have a
- 19:37Speaker 3: bit of a runway to put that power in your chest,
- 19:40Speaker 3: you have a foot injury. That's a very difficult situation
- 19:43Speaker 3: to be in for Morgan Moses. They're going to be
- 19:45Speaker 3: seeing a lot of each other. So how that matchup
- 19:48Speaker 3: goes is anyone's guess, but it's going to be interesting
- 19:50Speaker 3: to say the least.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And then Deion Walker. I don't know. I'm not really
- 19:55Speaker 1: about him this week.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Now, Gary Wilson had a much better week three after
- 19:58Speaker 3: really struggling against the Steelers in week two. Keanu Benton
- 20:02Speaker 3: just ate his lunch at the nose tackle spot. Now
- 20:05Speaker 3: he's going to have another big test. And Deion Walker,
- 20:07Speaker 3: if they get some one-on-one matchups, Elijah Barrett Tucker is
- 20:09Speaker 3: looking fantastic. He went from allowing, I think it was
- 20:12Speaker 3: like four hurries in the first game of the season
- 20:14Speaker 3: to one hit in the second game. And then he
- 20:17Speaker 3: had a clean sheet last week and looked like the
- 20:19Speaker 3: Elijah Barrett Tucker that, you know, we all know. And
- 20:21Speaker 3: I think, you know, Bill's Patriots contingents probably didn't love
- 20:25Speaker 3: to see it, but now it is. I'm very happy
- 20:27Speaker 3: to see him, especially after missing all football all last season.
- 20:30Speaker 3: He's really been impressive. But again, another tough test against
- 20:33Speaker 3: Deion Walker. What really worries me is the fact that
- 20:37Speaker 3: at the right guard spot, Patriots are now on their
- 20:39Speaker 3: fourth option. Mike and Wendy, unfortunately, suffered a high ankle sprain.
- 20:43Speaker 3: He is on injured reserve. Greg Van Roten, who's been
- 20:46Speaker 3: in the league for like a billion years. Slendon is
- 20:49Speaker 3: his backup. He now is on injured reserve because he
- 20:51Speaker 3: suffered a thigh injury last week. The third man up
- 20:54Speaker 3: in that rotation was Walter Rouse, who was a backup
- 20:56Speaker 3: for the Vikings that the Patriots acquired late in the
- 20:59Speaker 3: post-training camp process.
- 21:01Speaker 1: They traded for him. He didn't look good.
- 21:03Speaker 3: He allowed four hurries and a pretty limited snap count
- 21:06Speaker 3: as pass protector. Also, as you would understand, looked a
- 21:08Speaker 3: little bit shaky as a run blocker. And their fourth
- 21:11Speaker 3: option is Ben Brown, who ideally is a center and
- 21:14Speaker 3: an emergency left guard, who now is being asked to
- 21:17Speaker 3: play right guard, where the Patriots like to have a
- 21:19Speaker 3: lot more size and physicality. As I said, Ben Brown
- 21:21Speaker 3: is more naturally a center, not.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Someone you want at right guard.
- 21:24Speaker 3: How that's going to go, I genuinely think that Deion
- 21:26Speaker 3: Walker could throw him all up and down the field
- 21:28Speaker 3: if that's the matchup that the Bills decide to pick on.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And left tackle, Will Campbell versus Bradley Chubb. I like
- 21:34Speaker 1: that matchup.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Will Campbell, I think, allowed like one pressure against Bradley
- 21:37Speaker 3: Chubb last year. And there are two matchups, so I
- 21:40Speaker 3: feel a little bit more confident there. But, you know,
- 21:43Speaker 3: Morgan Moses injured against Greg Russo. I don't love that.
- 21:46Speaker 3: And then the Patriots' fourth right guard against Deion Walker,
- 21:49Speaker 3: who I also think could give Jared Wilson and Elijah
- 21:51Speaker 3: Mary Tucker issues. I don't love those matchups much at all.
- 21:55Speaker 3: That's just in pass protection. We want to talk about
- 21:57Speaker 3: the run game. clearly you're going to have some issues
- 21:59Speaker 3: when you have that much of a depth concern at
- 22:02Speaker 3: one of your guard spots. The Patriots didn't get much
- 22:04Speaker 3: going on the ground anyway last week, which also I
- 22:06Speaker 3: think had to do with not having Eli Raritan trickle
- 22:09Speaker 3: down effect in the tight end room. But yeah, it's,
- 22:13Speaker 3: I don't love the matchup for the Patriots with the bills,
- 22:15Speaker 3: two studs. And I will be curious to see if
- 22:18Speaker 3: Morgan Moses can continue to be successful even through the
- 22:20Speaker 3: injury and how the hell they slow down Dion Walker,
- 22:23Speaker 3: especially if he's locked in and playing his best football.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Your answer there fits in perfectly with what I got.
- 22:32Speaker 2: My first aspect was kind of like in general, I
- 22:35Speaker 2: kind of labeled it the Bills, Bills, pass rushers, Patriots,
- 22:37Speaker 2: offensive line, knowing, again, the struggles that Campbell had last year,
- 22:41Speaker 2: the injuries up front for the Patriots, but tying it
- 22:45Speaker 2: into the niche down part of Walker and Rousseau, I
- 22:48Speaker 2: think it's so interesting when you look at, so the
- 22:51Speaker 2: Bills as a whole, as an entire defense, when you
- 22:54Speaker 2: talk about pressure rate, They're 27th in pressure rate at 31.2%.
- 22:59Speaker 2: This is per next gen, uh, sack rate. They are
- 23:04Speaker 2: ninth at 7.2% time to pressure. So how long has
- 23:09Speaker 2: it taken for them to pressure the quarterback? They are
- 23:12Speaker 2: 24th in that at 2.71 seconds. So if you look
- 23:16Speaker 2: at kind of some major buckets there, it's like, well,
- 23:19Speaker 2: they're not like really great kind of like as a group.
- 23:22Speaker 2: But then if you look at Dion Walker, uh, amongst
- 23:25Speaker 2: qualifying defensive tackles. Where is he for pressure rate? He
- 23:29Speaker 2: is sixth in pressure rate at 16.9%. When it's overall pressures,
- 23:33Speaker 2: he's seventh in pressures at 13. When you look at
- 23:37Speaker 2: pass rush win rate, he is fifth. And then if
- 23:41Speaker 2: you go to essentially kind of his running mate at
- 23:44Speaker 2: this point here, Mr. Gregor Rousseau, similar aspect in terms
- 23:48Speaker 2: of how well he's doing, but even higher out of
- 23:50Speaker 2: qualifying edges, he's second in pressure rate at 26.3%. He
- 23:55Speaker 2: is tied for first in pressures amongst all edges with 25.
- 23:59Speaker 2: He's tied with Dallas Turner. Dallas Turner's got a ton
- 24:02Speaker 2: of unblocked pressures because of Brian Flores blitzing 1,000% of
- 24:06Speaker 2: the time every single play, no matter what. Greg Rousseau
- 24:09Speaker 2: also leads all edges in sacks right now at six.
- 24:13Speaker 2: His pass rush win rate, he's third at 23.2%. And
- 24:15Speaker 2: then he also leads in sack rate for edges at 6.3%.
- 24:18Speaker 2: So when you look at him as a group... it's
- 24:25Speaker 2: a group that despite like, you would think if you're
- 24:29Speaker 2: a group, okay, you've got one from a number standpoint,
- 24:33Speaker 2: a metric standpoint, Greg or so is killing it at
- 24:37Speaker 2: the edge spot. He's like easy top five, but he's
- 24:39Speaker 2: one or two or three and mostly everything. And he's
- 24:42Speaker 2: doing so good. Walker is in a similar boat, top seven,
- 24:45Speaker 2: top five, and most things for his position. But then
- 24:48Speaker 2: you look at the group collectively and, And they're kind
- 24:51Speaker 2: of in the not even the lower half, like the
- 24:53Speaker 2: lower of the lower part of the 20s as a
- 24:56Speaker 2: team in terms of pass rush. And I also think
- 24:59Speaker 2: that ties into another aspect for me. We haven't seen
- 25:02Speaker 2: a lot of creativity from Jim Leonard from a blitz standpoint.
- 25:08Speaker 2: And the way I kind of quantify it, their easiest
- 25:11Speaker 2: way to think like we haven't seen we haven't seen
- 25:13Speaker 2: a lot of Rex Ryan stuff. from a guy who
- 25:16Speaker 2: comes from the Rex Ryan tree. Now, that doesn't mean
- 25:18Speaker 2: just because you come from someone's tree, you have to
- 25:20Speaker 2: do exactly what they do. Like, every person who learns
- 25:22Speaker 2: under Brian Flores isn't going to blitz 80% of the
- 25:25Speaker 2: time like Flores is this year. Like, you don't have
- 25:26Speaker 2: to completely copycat what someone else does. But I expected more...
- 25:32Speaker 2: does that more simulated? It's more creepers more. Oh, look
- 25:35Speaker 2: at this five man pressure. Look at this six, six
- 25:37Speaker 2: man pressure. They are doing some good things in terms
- 25:39Speaker 2: of their stunts and their games inside. They're one of
- 25:41Speaker 2: the league leaders in terms of stunt rate against the
- 25:43Speaker 2: run and, and the pass. And overall, they are slanting
- 25:47Speaker 2: those defensive tackles. They are running tech stunts and exit stunts.
- 25:50Speaker 2: They are the defensive tackles. When they do four down fronts,
- 25:53Speaker 2: whoever the center goes away from, they're picking that guy
- 25:56Speaker 2: and ear holing him to let the other guy loop off.
- 25:59Speaker 2: So like there are, four man games and games overall
- 26:03Speaker 2: and a lot of movement, but just from like a,
- 26:06Speaker 2: an exotic standpoint or a creativity stamp, the designers, I
- 26:09Speaker 2: should say, right. The stuff where you would be like, Oh,
- 26:12Speaker 2: like you're, you're just not getting that a lot with
- 26:15Speaker 2: Jim Leonard at this point. And I wonder, is it,
- 26:18Speaker 2: I think it's there and it's just a matter of,
- 26:20Speaker 2: is he saving it for something? Is he keeping some
- 26:22Speaker 2: stuff in the holster for when he needs it most?
- 26:24Speaker 2: Or is it tied to something bigger picture where, you know,
- 26:28Speaker 2: you know, this in order to do certain stuff up front,
- 26:31Speaker 2: your guys on the back end have to execute. If
- 26:33Speaker 2: you're not confident in the guys on the back end
- 26:35Speaker 2: executing based off of what you're doing up front, you're
- 26:38Speaker 2: not going to want to bring a six-man pressure or
- 26:40Speaker 2: a crazy five-man if you feel like, well, we got
- 26:43Speaker 2: gaps in coverage or our guys don't understand our rules
- 26:45Speaker 2: enough at this point. And so it's kind of like
- 26:48Speaker 2: the big bucket for me in this one of the
- 26:50Speaker 2: Bills pass rush versus the Pat's O-line and the Pat's
- 26:55Speaker 2: pass barrel, but then mixed into that is particular like
- 26:58Speaker 2: Does it continue to be the heavy lifting of Rousseau
- 27:01Speaker 2: and Walker? Does that Oliver start to show up a
- 27:03Speaker 2: bit more? Do we get anything from Bradley Chubb? Landon Jackson,
- 27:07Speaker 2: kind of Dwayne Carter has flashed a bit. I think
- 27:09Speaker 2: some have hit the positives about him, but then overblown,
- 27:12Speaker 2: but conversation for maybe later or maybe another time. And
- 27:15Speaker 2: then they have the Pats injuries up front and then
- 27:17Speaker 2: tied into that, the schematics and everything that Jim Leonard
- 27:20Speaker 2: is up front. So I'm in a similar mode when
- 27:22Speaker 2: it comes to my first one as well.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Should we go to two? Or because... I don't know.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I'm really worried about the matchup.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I think he would hit the nail on the head,
- 27:31Speaker 3: especially with stunts on the right side.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I think the left side, they've really figured that problem
- 27:35Speaker 1: out from last year.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 1: So it was a glaring issue.
- 27:37Speaker 3: But the right side, again, you don't– Morgan Moses does
- 27:40Speaker 3: not work next to Ben Brown at all. So I
- 27:42Speaker 3: think it would be a huge missed opportunity if they
- 27:45Speaker 3: don't at least try to see what they can do
- 27:46Speaker 3: on that front. Even Jared Wilson at times, especially if
- 27:49Speaker 3: he's kind of– if you're bringing it from far away
- 27:52Speaker 3: to his area of the offensive line, sometimes he's a
- 27:54Speaker 3: little slow to pick that up.
- 27:54Speaker 1: So we'll see if he can be on top of
- 27:56Speaker 1: those as well.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Very fair. Yeah, we can move on to two. So
- 28:01Speaker 2: that one that you gave, was that like your top
- 28:04Speaker 2: one or are these all equal for you?
- 28:06Speaker 1: That probably is number one for me.
- 28:08Speaker 3: I don't want to talk about the Patriots offense if
- 28:11Speaker 3: I don't have to.
- 28:12Speaker 1: I think it's basically bad.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I was taught when I worked at NextGenStats, my boss
- 28:15Speaker 3: always told me you want to go strength versus strength
- 28:17Speaker 3: or strength versus weakness. And yeah, I just think it's
- 28:21Speaker 3: so much bad. I think the Bills offense versus Patriots
- 28:24Speaker 3: defense is going to give us a lot more to
- 28:25Speaker 3: chew on. So I'll focus a little bit more on that.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Okay, fair enough. All right, so we got our first ones.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I always cheat and say they're all equal for me,
- 28:32Speaker 2: but you did your one. I did my one tied
- 28:36Speaker 2: into yours, so we went from there. Yeah, let's go
- 28:38Speaker 2: with the second thing or second piece that you think
- 28:40Speaker 2: will decide Bills versus Pats in week four.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd love to go trenches two times in a row,
- 28:45Speaker 3: but I'm going Patriots coverage versus the Bills passing.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:50Speaker 3: And this is one where I think it's pretty straightforward,
- 28:52Speaker 3: like Christian Gonzalez and DJ Moore. When you're making as
- 28:55Speaker 3: much money as those guys make, You're probably going to
- 28:57Speaker 3: see as much of them as the Patriots are comfortable with.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Now against the Seahawks and against the.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Jaguars, they put their guys in so many funky spots
- 29:05Speaker 3: and they do so much motion and weird looks that
- 29:07Speaker 3: you didn't really see Christian Gonzalez follow their top guys
- 29:10Speaker 3: as often as you might have.
- 29:11Speaker 1: So obviously for the Jaguars, it's kind of funky.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Parker Washington's the main guy, but Christian Gonzalez is a
- 29:16Speaker 3: better matchup for Brian Thomas Jr. Really, you saw Christian
- 29:18Speaker 3: Gonzalez on the boundary last time.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Where Ryan Thomas Jr. typically is.
- 29:22Speaker 3: And then against the Seahawks, they tried to put him
- 29:24Speaker 3: on JSN a lot, but again, they do so many
- 29:27Speaker 3: things that kind of give him better matchups.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Then it didn't happen a ton.
- 29:30Speaker 3: I think this is a game where Christian Gonzalez is
- 29:32Speaker 3: going to see a ton, a ton of DJ more,
- 29:35Speaker 3: especially in those three by one looks just because, and
- 29:38Speaker 3: I feel like I'm stealing your answers.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Because we talked about this. Now it's going to be
- 29:42Speaker 1: both of our podcasts.
- 29:42Speaker 3: We talked about this, but there is going to be
- 29:45Speaker 3: a big priority in just making sure that the very
- 29:47Speaker 3: least you have a numbers advantage against this Phil's passing attack,
- 29:50Speaker 3: because it's no longer okay. Critical moment, probably going to
- 29:53Speaker 3: be Khalil Shakir, whether or not like Donald Kincaid is
- 29:55Speaker 3: healthy enough to actually play.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And be the force that he can be.
- 29:58Speaker 3: But Dalton Kincaid is playing some fantastic football right now.
- 30:02Speaker 3: I don't love one-on-one matchups for him, especially with Craig Woodson.
- 30:05Speaker 3: He was hurt last week. So whether he's going to
- 30:07Speaker 3: be a full go or not, I don't know. Kevin
- 30:09Speaker 3: Byard's an older guy. He's okay in coverage in man-to-man,
- 30:12Speaker 3: but I don't like that matchup against Dalton Kincaid. And
- 30:15Speaker 3: I don't like Dalton Kincaid versus really any linebacker. Maybe
- 30:18Speaker 3: Aziz Alshair or somebody like that. But I just think
- 30:21Speaker 3: he's more receiver as a route runner, obviously, in terms
- 30:24Speaker 3: of ball skills.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Than he is a true tight end.
- 30:27Speaker 3: So I think you're going to want to try to
- 30:29Speaker 3: play as much zone as possible to the strong side
- 30:31Speaker 3: of the formation, but also you got to account for
- 30:33Speaker 3: Josh Palmer. Always have to count for Khalil Shakir. Tian
- 30:36Speaker 3: Coleman has actually been involved and has been a pretty
- 30:39Speaker 3: productive player. So I think that the DJ more like
- 30:42Speaker 3: you simplify that and just like, let's just take the
- 30:44Speaker 3: headache away because we have plenty of others that we're
- 30:46Speaker 3: going to have to deal with. That can create some
- 30:48Speaker 3: matchups when it comes to the running backs versus the
- 30:49Speaker 3: Patriots linebackers. That's going to be another thing to kind
- 30:52Speaker 3: of watch if they want to play a lot of
- 30:53Speaker 3: those match zones because the back side, It's going to
- 30:55Speaker 3: be man coverage.
- 30:56Speaker 1: What are you going to do there? But as much
- 30:58Speaker 1: as I would.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Like to see the Patriots man up, cause I don't
- 31:00Speaker 3: hate their wide receiver cornerback matchups.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I don't really love the middle of the bills.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Offense, the tight ends and the running backs versus the
- 31:09Speaker 3: safeties and linebackers, especially pure one-on-one situations.
- 31:12Speaker 1: So how exactly the Patriots decide to influence those matchups,
- 31:16Speaker 1: whether they.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Try to blitz more to try to, you know, not
- 31:19Speaker 3: let the receivers get as far downfield.
- 31:20Speaker 1: We will see.
- 31:21Speaker 3: But I, that is going to have to be a
- 31:24Speaker 3: major point of emphasis. Obviously it's Josh Allen, making sure
- 31:27Speaker 3: he doesn't throw the ball over the yard, probably going
- 31:28Speaker 3: to be pretty important. Um, but how exactly they go
- 31:31Speaker 3: about that is going to be fascinating to see, but
- 31:32Speaker 3: number one, number one's on number one, just take Hershey
- 31:36Speaker 3: Gonzalez on DJ more, hope that he has a good
- 31:38Speaker 3: game and then focus on this, you know, now what
- 31:41Speaker 3: is a pretty well-rounded, uh, Bill's passing offense. I, uh,
- 31:46Speaker 3: So this ties into one of mine, so I'll just
- 31:48Speaker 3: tie it into your point.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I literally titled it Dalton Kincaid versus whoever.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 2: That's my thought for this one. You know, you and
- 31:57Speaker 2: I talked about this earlier on an episode for you
- 32:00Speaker 2: that will be dropping later this week. But I'm very simple.
- 32:05Speaker 2: If there's good on good and I have a good
- 32:08Speaker 2: guy somewhere else who can exploit an opportunity, I'll let
- 32:11Speaker 2: the good on good kind of cancel itself. And so,
- 32:13Speaker 2: you know, yeah, DJ Moore, like you're looking good. Christian
- 32:15Speaker 2: Gonzalez is one of the best corners in football. Hey,
- 32:18Speaker 2: you guys go have fun. I don't care. You guys
- 32:19Speaker 2: can do whatever you want. Play rock, paper, scissors. Play
- 32:21Speaker 2: patty cake. I don't care. We're not going out there.
- 32:23Speaker 2: You know, Carlton Davis, you know, if you're playing, you're
- 32:25Speaker 2: feeling good, cool. You go cover Palmer. or Keon or Shakira,
- 32:29Speaker 2: whoever's out there. I also don't care. You know, you
- 32:31Speaker 2: guys have fun. You do your stuff outside the numbers.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Give me Kincaid in between the numbers or really anywhere.
- 32:37Speaker 2: If we're, you know, if the Pats are going to
- 32:38Speaker 2: go man coverage and let's take them in motion amount,
- 32:40Speaker 2: let's see, you know, is Marcus Jones going with him?
- 32:43Speaker 2: Is it a safety?
- 32:44Speaker 1: Is it a backer?
- 32:45Speaker 2: Like what I do think is really interesting is I
- 32:47Speaker 2: would want to keep him more towards like the, the
- 32:53Speaker 2: trip side, or, you know, if it's two man, you know,
- 32:55Speaker 2: you got two on each side, but like, I wouldn't
- 32:58Speaker 2: want to split him out solo, which they don't do
- 33:00Speaker 2: a ton anyway. Like I don't want him on Christian Gonzalez.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Give me him against the backers, the safeties, and even
- 33:06Speaker 2: Marcus Jones. I think the world of Marcus Jones. I
- 33:09Speaker 2: think it's so awesome. He's one of my favorite players
- 33:11Speaker 2: in league because I liked him so much. And every
- 33:13Speaker 2: time I clipped a play of him doing something at
- 33:15Speaker 2: corner at Houston, everybody's like, well, he's too small. He's
- 33:18Speaker 2: going to have to do return stuff. And he was
- 33:20Speaker 2: electric as a return. He was like an amazing returner,
- 33:22Speaker 2: but I was just like, man, like I know he's small,
- 33:24Speaker 2: but like this, he's like a good football player. Like
- 33:26Speaker 2: he's tackling dudes. He's making good plays and coverage. Like
- 33:29Speaker 2: I feel like he could be a good football player.
- 33:31Speaker 2: And it's like, nope, he's too, too much of an outlier.
- 33:33Speaker 2: And so I think he's like, he's just watching what
- 33:36Speaker 2: he's become in that defense is so fun for me.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Cause I liked him so much coming out. Unfortunately for him,
- 33:43Speaker 2: I will take Dalton Kincaid against him every single day
- 33:45Speaker 2: of the week. And I actually think it might've been
- 33:48Speaker 2: Keon or maybe it was Kincaid. There was someone last
- 33:51Speaker 2: year in the first bills Patriots game. matched up one-on-one
- 33:55Speaker 2: against marcus jones and joe it was a who was
- 33:59Speaker 2: sloppy yes yes because it was kian and i remember
- 34:03Speaker 2: everybody was like dude that guy's so little kian is
- 34:05Speaker 2: huge you're a power forward how could you not dunk
- 34:07Speaker 2: on him and in my head i was like yeah
- 34:09Speaker 2: he should but also like marcus jones is sick man
- 34:12Speaker 2: like so i don't i don't want to yeah right
- 34:14Speaker 2: i don't want to just play the whole like don't
- 34:17Speaker 2: kinkade big marcus jones small like that's not what i'm
- 34:20Speaker 2: trying to do but like Kincaid, the length, the size,
- 34:23Speaker 2: the frame, and the athleticism, all of that versus Marcus
- 34:26Speaker 2: Jones is advantage Kincaid. But it's the same thing, advantage
- 34:29Speaker 2: against a bigger body dude, a backer, a big nickel,
- 34:32Speaker 2: a safety. I don't care. Like, give me Dalton Kincaid
- 34:36Speaker 2: matched up in that world. And looking at the Patriots
- 34:39Speaker 2: so far this year, you know, four main coverage buckets
- 34:42Speaker 2: for them this year per PFF. They are rolling a 23.1%
- 34:46Speaker 2: cover three rate. 22.5% cover one, 19.2% quarters, 16.5% cover two.
- 34:54Speaker 2: So a decent mix within those four buckets. So you're
- 34:57Speaker 2: going to get some two high stuff. You're going to
- 34:58Speaker 2: get some single high stuff, but if you're going to
- 35:00Speaker 2: play man coverage, who's manning up against Kincaid? Is it,
- 35:03Speaker 2: is it Marcus Jones or is it the down safety?
- 35:06Speaker 2: I don't care. I'm taking either one of those things.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Are we putting Kincaid as the number three? Is that mean,
- 35:10Speaker 2: does that mean he's getting matched up against Spillane or Ellis?
- 35:13Speaker 2: I'm taking that all day. If they're going to play
- 35:14Speaker 2: any match stuff, it's a similar conversation, especially if we're
- 35:18Speaker 2: putting him at the three, do they feel like, you
- 35:21Speaker 2: know what we, you know, again, even, even if it's
- 35:24Speaker 2: cover three, two, I'll attack the seam with Kincaid and
- 35:27Speaker 2: I'll attack that aspect. Do the Patriots feel like, you
- 35:30Speaker 2: know what, we're, we're going to double, we're going to
- 35:32Speaker 2: play one double, you know, we're going to, you know,
- 35:34Speaker 2: cover one cover, you know, cover one double 86 and
- 35:36Speaker 2: we're going to attack Kincaid the way we have in
- 35:39Speaker 2: Patriots past when we played one double.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Cool.
- 35:41Speaker 2: That's fine. Now you're allocating resources there. which means there's
- 35:44Speaker 2: less resources to be allocated towards Shakir potentially for some
- 35:47Speaker 2: stuff or some run gate stuff. Again, I'm not saying
- 35:50Speaker 2: for it completely about the outside receivers, but in my mind,
- 35:53Speaker 2: I am, I don't care. DJ more, whoever's on the outside,
- 35:55Speaker 2: the other side, I don't care. I'm focusing on the interior.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Let's also get in this game, potentially similar conversation is Kincaid.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I'd love to see the new Orleans saints, Pete Carmichael,
- 36:06Speaker 2: Sean Payton, past game to the running back stuff, start
- 36:08Speaker 2: to rear his head a little bit. Give me James
- 36:10Speaker 2: cook in space on some, on some past stuff against
- 36:12Speaker 2: the lane or Ellis, maybe even Jones, uh, just, I
- 36:16Speaker 2: think that is a matchup that can be advantageous to
- 36:19Speaker 2: the bills. And if the pages want to live in
- 36:21Speaker 2: more too high stuff, because they're threatened by some of
- 36:23Speaker 2: the bills past game things. Okay. Let's run the ball
- 36:27Speaker 2: and mash. And then it's like, okay, it's Christian Barmore
- 36:29Speaker 2: kind of changing the math is Milton Williams changing the math.
- 36:33Speaker 2: What are we getting from gay back is, and his dream,
- 36:35Speaker 2: I'm going to play in this game. Is he changing
- 36:36Speaker 2: the math a little bit? Like what, what does that
- 36:38Speaker 2: start to look like? I think that's more good on good,
- 36:41Speaker 2: even though there's been questions for the past there this year. Um,
- 36:44Speaker 2: But yeah, my second one is really Dalton Kincaid versus whoever.
- 36:47Speaker 2: But I think some of the stuff you can also
- 36:49Speaker 2: apply to Kincaid. I also think you could apply to
- 36:51Speaker 2: the Bills running backs, Cook and Ty Johnson in particular,
- 36:54Speaker 2: more from an underneath standpoint against the backers. But yeah,
- 36:57Speaker 2: I'm attacking middle of the field in between the numbers.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Let's get Kincaid on some dudes. Give me Dalton Kincaid
- 37:03Speaker 2: with like 12 targets in this game for like eight
- 37:05Speaker 2: catches and 115 yards. Let's put him as the focal
- 37:09Speaker 2: point of this past game. Then we'll do some play
- 37:11Speaker 2: action and some boot stuff and generate some explosives elsewhere.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been waiting for the Bills game plan that
- 37:16Speaker 3: really does feature him. And I understand why it hasn't
- 37:18Speaker 3: maybe happened in the past. But, yeah, I think that's
- 37:20Speaker 3: either going to be the recipe. Or, like we mentioned,
- 37:23Speaker 3: if it's a sneaky running back game and you start seeing, like, wow,
- 37:26Speaker 3: wait a minute.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Why did Ty Johnson and James.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Cook each have, like, multiple catches, you know, combining for, like, 60,
- 37:33Speaker 3: 70 yards?
- 37:34Speaker 1: Like, I feel like Ty Johnson more so.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I know it's not really James Cook's bag necessarily, but
- 37:38Speaker 3: if I can get those matchups, I'm going for them
- 37:39Speaker 3: every time.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Well, because– and so what's tough too with Cook is
- 37:42Speaker 2: the third down back is Ty Johnson because Ty Johnson
- 37:45Speaker 2: is such a good pass protector and he's also a
- 37:47Speaker 2: good pass catcher. And Cook is still questionable in pass, bro.
- 37:51Speaker 2: So when you get into those known passing down and distances,
- 37:54Speaker 2: it's Ty Johnson. So, like, he is going to be
- 37:56Speaker 2: the guy that works into that. And I do– You
- 38:00Speaker 2: know what? One last piece on the tight ends. I
- 38:01Speaker 2: didn't mention the Patriots defense in terms of DVO way.
- 38:04Speaker 2: They're third in a good way in terms of DVO
- 38:06Speaker 2: way versus tight ends. And I wonder, yeah, does that,
- 38:10Speaker 2: is that a product of who they played and the
- 38:12Speaker 2: game strip that's gone, especially I don't know, week two
- 38:15Speaker 2: game where the Steelers offense should have been jettisoned into
- 38:17Speaker 2: the sun for how that game went. Just absolutely brutal
- 38:21Speaker 2: to watch on TV. And then, yeah, like I, you know,
- 38:24Speaker 2: Seattle week, week one, quarterback change in the middle of
- 38:28Speaker 2: that game or early in that game. And then you're
- 38:30Speaker 2: facing the dumpster fire of a Steelers offense in week two,
- 38:32Speaker 2: who may be rectified some things against the Bengals. So yeah,
- 38:34Speaker 2: like do the Patriots have some better answers for against
- 38:37Speaker 2: the tight ends that I'm potentially giving them credit for,
- 38:39Speaker 2: or is it, you know, where they're sitting right now
- 38:41Speaker 2: is a product of more of who they played. Granted
- 38:44Speaker 2: DVOA kind of does.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Correct for that.
- 38:46Speaker 3: It's kind of a matter of who they play, to
- 38:47Speaker 3: be honest, because you get through lock the first week,
- 38:49Speaker 3: they weren't really trying to let him throw very often anyway,
- 38:51Speaker 3: unless they had to. And I think that limited the
- 38:53Speaker 3: amount of like scheme opportunities that I thought AJ Barnum
- 38:56Speaker 3: was going to get, Darnell Washington, I think he got
- 38:59Speaker 3: like one or two passes, but he didn't really get
- 39:01Speaker 3: a ton of attention. And like you said, it wasn't
- 39:02Speaker 3: a great plan. They were just throwing slants all game.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Not a big, you know, Darnell Washington.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Game plan there.
- 39:09Speaker 3: And then last week, honestly, Trevor Martin didn't.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Really go to Brenton Strange very often.
- 39:15Speaker 3: I thought that was going to be more of a
- 39:17Speaker 3: key matchup, but he had success going wherever the hell
- 39:18Speaker 3: else he wanted. So I can't really critique him for
- 39:22Speaker 3: not going to Brenton Strange when.
- 39:23Speaker 1: He's putting up more of enough points and boat racing
- 39:25Speaker 1: the Patriots.
- 39:26Speaker 3: So Yeah, if this were the week that a tight
- 39:28Speaker 3: end gash them i wouldn't be surprised even going back
- 39:30Speaker 3: to last year i remember they had a lot of
- 39:32Speaker 3: good numbers against tight ends for the season and i
- 39:34Speaker 3: was just like it doesn't that feels kind of manufactured
- 39:37Speaker 3: like it feels like offenses just haven't really pressed that
- 39:40Speaker 3: advantage and then you see the super bowl aj barn
- 39:42Speaker 3: has the best game of his career so Yeah, I
- 39:44Speaker 3: wouldn't be surprised if Dalton Cade goes off in this.
- 39:46Speaker 1: One at all.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it is. And even, too, thinking about the Jags,
- 39:50Speaker 2: their tight ends were a meme in the offseason because
- 39:53Speaker 2: all their tight ends were like, why, why types? Like,
- 39:56Speaker 2: in line, let's just mash. But then, I mean, they
- 39:58Speaker 2: were mashing in that game a little bit, so it
- 40:00Speaker 2: kind of worked out for them. Yeah, that's a big
- 40:03Speaker 2: one for me. All right, anything else on those second points?
- 40:06Speaker 2: Or do you want to move on to three?
- 40:07Speaker 1: I'm going to move on to three. We talked about
- 40:09Speaker 1: the running backs, so might as well keep the train going.
- 40:12Speaker 2: All right, your third point? What do you got for
- 40:15Speaker 2: what will decide Bills versus Pats in week four?
- 40:17Speaker 1: Patriots run defense versus James Cook. Oh, okay. Rushing offense. Now,
- 40:23Speaker 1: if you are able to keep a lid on Josh Allen,
- 40:25Speaker 1: that's fantastic.
- 40:26Speaker 3: I also think if you want to win this game,
- 40:29Speaker 3: you're going to have to be competitive against the run.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Patriots haven't really been that, unfortunately.
- 40:33Speaker 3: They were all right against the Steelers in week two,
- 40:35Speaker 3: but most of what we've seen is them allowing offenses
- 40:38Speaker 3: to not necessarily gain explosive runs.
- 40:40Speaker 1: That's one area where I do feel good about them
- 40:42Speaker 1: against James Cook.
- 40:43Speaker 3: They have kept the league on two really good running backs,
- 40:46Speaker 3: Vajal Tootin and Jadarian Price, and not allowed them to
- 40:48Speaker 3: really break too many big carries. I think each one
- 40:50Speaker 3: of those guys had, like, one. The issue is the
- 40:54Speaker 3: success rate is through the roof. The Patriots are just
- 40:56Speaker 3: not creating negative plays, and they're not putting offenses off
- 40:59Speaker 3: schedule to where they have to get away from the run.
- 41:02Speaker 3: I think they're, like, the lowest run stuff rate in
- 41:04Speaker 3: the NFL by, like, 2%.
- 41:06Speaker 1: It's very, very bad. It's around, like, 6%, 7% or
- 41:08Speaker 1: something like that. It's atrocious.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it is 6.7%. They are last in terms of
- 41:16Speaker 2: stuff rate. Yeah, 6.7%. They're only behind the Panthers at 6.9%,
- 41:22Speaker 2: and their defense has been bad.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really ugly.
- 41:25Speaker 3: And a lot of that is because the interior of
- 41:27Speaker 3: the defensive line isn't creating nearly enough disruption. No Williams
- 41:30Speaker 3: is the only interior defensive lineman for the Patriots with
- 41:33Speaker 3: a tackle for a loss or no gain in three games.
- 41:36Speaker 3: And like you said, they got Christian Barmore, Milton Williams,
- 41:38Speaker 3: still Milton Williams. You should have more than one tackle
- 41:40Speaker 3: for loss or no gain. And Corey Durden, who actually
- 41:43Speaker 3: was a diamond in the rough for them and a
- 41:45Speaker 3: really nice hidden gem that they found after roster cuts.
- 41:48Speaker 3: He's had two out of three bad games, and I
- 41:51Speaker 3: really expected a lot more from him So when you
- 41:53Speaker 3: talk about no disruption really from the interior of the
- 41:56Speaker 3: defensive line, young guys on the edges, I don't know
- 41:58Speaker 3: if Draymond Jones is going to play or not.
- 41:59Speaker 1: And I will say Gabe Atkins has been competitive as
- 42:02Speaker 1: hell against the run.
- 42:03Speaker 3: He's like top five and run stop right now, albeit
- 42:05Speaker 3: kind of a smaller sample size, but he played a
- 42:07Speaker 3: lot last week and he's.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Boom or bust.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Like he's still a rookie, missed the entirety of the spring.
- 42:12Speaker 3: He's still learning to get off blocks and be consistent,
- 42:14Speaker 3: but he flashes at least. And that's what you want
- 42:16Speaker 3: from young players. Elijah Ponder has been super hit or
- 42:19Speaker 3: miss as a run defender. He's really growing as a
- 42:21Speaker 3: pass rusher, which is where I figured his role was
- 42:23Speaker 3: going to be. Like that ghost move, he's looking like
- 42:25Speaker 3: Harold Landry out there. But when it comes to setting edges,
- 42:28Speaker 3: getting off blocks, he also is like, it depends on
- 42:31Speaker 3: what the snap is, what the week is. I thought
- 42:33Speaker 3: week two, he was much improved if he wasn't perfect.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Week one and week three, I thought he was okay.
- 42:38Speaker 3: The secondary tackles very well, so that's good, but you
- 42:41Speaker 3: don't want the secondary to have to tackle very often.
- 42:43Speaker 3: And the linebackers, I think when they're allowed to flow
- 42:45Speaker 3: and play off the defensive line, they look good. When
- 42:48Speaker 3: they're getting contacted at the second level, they look bad.
- 42:52Speaker 3: And unfortunately, there was more of the latter last week
- 42:54Speaker 3: against the Jaguars.
- 42:55Speaker 1: And James Cook, still one of the most explosive backs
- 42:58Speaker 1: in football.
- 42:58Speaker 3: And while a lot of people, I feel like, think
- 43:00Speaker 3: of him as an outside runner, he takes it between
- 43:02Speaker 3: the tackles a lot because he's so good at cutting
- 43:04Speaker 3: back against the grain. pressing, forcing you to flow one way,
- 43:08Speaker 3: and then just knifing into the middle of your defense
- 43:09Speaker 3: for huge plays. And the Patriots haven't, I mean, Basil
- 43:12Speaker 3: Tootin has been one of the most explosive backs in football.
- 43:15Speaker 3: He ain't James Cook. Nobody's James Cook. So, and also
- 43:18Speaker 3: one other metric I thought was interesting for the Patriots,
- 43:20Speaker 3: along with not being able to stop the run, is
- 43:23Speaker 3: they're allowing some of the fewest yards before contact, but
- 43:26Speaker 3: some of the most yards after contact.
- 43:28Speaker 1: And again, there's not a lot of disruption.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I think it's never one-to-one, like football's a complicated game,
- 43:33Speaker 3: But I think it's pretty fair to say that, yes,
- 43:35Speaker 3: when they're able to get some penetration or they're able
- 43:38Speaker 3: to stop at the line, obviously it's great. When they're not,
- 43:41Speaker 3: and a running back's able to get past the line
- 43:43Speaker 3: of scrimmage with a head of steam, obviously that's making
- 43:45Speaker 3: life a lot harder on your linebackers and your secondary
- 43:48Speaker 3: because then they're having to make tackles from an inadvantages
- 43:51Speaker 3: position where you're either moving sideways or you're trying to
- 43:54Speaker 3: come downhill without as much of a head start as
- 43:56Speaker 3: the ball carrier. So when the defensive line's not doing
- 43:58Speaker 3: its job, everybody suffers. And I think that's why the Patriots,
- 44:01Speaker 3: from a success standpoint, haven't been great. And even still,
- 44:04Speaker 3: it's like, yeah, you're stopping them and you're getting contact
- 44:08Speaker 3: maybe one or two yards. But even still, sometimes these
- 44:10Speaker 3: backs are able to power forward. And then, sure, you're
- 44:13Speaker 3: getting contacted after a yard or two, but you're also
- 44:15Speaker 3: getting a little bit extra after that to keep you
- 44:17Speaker 3: on schedule. So if the Patriots want this game to
- 44:20Speaker 3: be competitive, sure, James Cook can have four yards carry,
- 44:23Speaker 3: four and a half yards per carry, whatever. But the
- 44:26Speaker 3: Bills are going to be very comfortable And you're just
- 44:28Speaker 3: going to have to kind of sit there and take it.
- 44:30Speaker 3: And as a Madden player, I couldn't do it. As
- 44:33Speaker 3: a spectator, I can't stand it. But, you know, sometimes
- 44:36Speaker 3: you got to do what you got to do. But
- 44:37Speaker 3: if you want to win this game, James Cook cannot
- 44:40Speaker 3: have a healthy success rate or yards per carry. You
- 44:43Speaker 3: need to create some negative plays, whether that's blitzing, whether
- 44:45Speaker 3: that's better play from your interior defensive line.
- 44:48Speaker 1: I don't know. We haven't seen it.
- 44:50Speaker 3: But you absolutely cannot allow the Bills to just do
- 44:52Speaker 3: what they want and have a wide open game script.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Because that's where I think, especially with a pretty crappy offense,
- 44:58Speaker 3: what we've seen in the past few weeks, you might
- 45:01Speaker 3: get boat raced again. And I can't have that with
- 45:04Speaker 3: them on the road in the Bills' new stadium. It's
- 45:06Speaker 3: just a bad look. No one wants to see that.
- 45:08Speaker 3: We want it to be competitive. It's going to be
- 45:09Speaker 3: a big game. So, yeah, you just can't let James
- 45:12Speaker 3: Kirk do that.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Do we want it to be competitive? I think a nice,
- 45:16Speaker 2: comfortable Bills win would be– I think that's something we
- 45:18Speaker 2: would all– You don't want.
- 45:19Speaker 1: To get bored.
- 45:19Speaker 3: You don't want to be in the third quarter being like,
- 45:21Speaker 3: I know how this is going to go. I'm going
- 45:23Speaker 3: to go– I don't know. walk my dog or something.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I don't know what people were doing during the Jaguars game,
- 45:27Speaker 3: but I don't think a whole lot of people were
- 45:28Speaker 3: watching through the fourth quarter.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I didn't want to, but it's my job.
- 45:31Speaker 2: So I had to. I don't want to, but I
- 45:33Speaker 2: had to. I hate those ones where it's like, why
- 45:37Speaker 2: are you still watching this? I have to.
- 45:39Speaker 1: All right, start writing early.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go. Some metrics to kind of further
- 45:45Speaker 2: this conversation. Buffalo Bills run game per Sumer Sports first
- 45:51Speaker 2: in EPA per rush. First, in rushing success rate. And
- 45:56Speaker 2: then if we want to look at some stuff from
- 45:58Speaker 2: next gen stats, they are second in yards before contact
- 46:03Speaker 2: per attempt at 2.75. This is significant because so, so
- 46:10Speaker 2: the Ravens are first at 3.24. The bills are second
- 46:12Speaker 2: at 2.75. The Bengals are third at 2.19. So the
- 46:19Speaker 2: Bills and then even the Ravens are in their own
- 46:21Speaker 2: stratosphere at 1-2 when it turns of yards before contact
- 46:25Speaker 2: per attempt. And you're seeing that on the tape. There
- 46:26Speaker 2: are people moving. They are getting guys out of the way.
- 46:29Speaker 2: James Cook will run behind Spencer Brown and Osiris Torrance.
- 46:33Speaker 2: They will run duo. They will create displacement. James Cook,
- 46:36Speaker 2: maybe he'll bounce it. and get one-on-one with the corner
- 46:39Speaker 2: and go around them or inside them or through them,
- 46:42Speaker 2: or he'll stay on track, manipulate the mic, he'll cut
- 46:44Speaker 2: wherever he needs to, they'll run mid-zone weak off that,
- 46:46Speaker 2: and he'll either stay right on that mid-zone track or
- 46:49Speaker 2: he'll cut it back, we'll see everybody get washed down.
- 46:52Speaker 2: I love your call about what he's become as a runner,
- 46:56Speaker 2: where it's not... Oh, you know, look how he's this,
- 47:00Speaker 2: he's this scat back and he's speedy and all this
- 47:03Speaker 2: kind of stuff. And he's really become a dude who
- 47:05Speaker 2: can run in the a gap and in the B
- 47:07Speaker 2: gap and stay in between the tackles and he'll drop
- 47:09Speaker 2: a shoulder and he'll fall forward and he'll go through
- 47:12Speaker 2: a linebacker. He'll put his head down. He'll fight for
- 47:14Speaker 2: yards at the goal line. His progression as a runner
- 47:17Speaker 2: year after year has been so fun to watch and
- 47:21Speaker 2: see because he's developed his In college, he was more
- 47:26Speaker 2: of a zone runner, and he didn't really have pacing,
- 47:28Speaker 2: the right pacing, I should say, for the gap scheme stuff.
- 47:31Speaker 2: He was always trying to get the ball and go
- 47:33Speaker 2: 100 miles an hour and get to the gap right away,
- 47:35Speaker 2: get to the hole, and he'd get in front of
- 47:37Speaker 2: his blockers, he'd get in the way, they'd mash, it
- 47:39Speaker 2: just wasn't clean. He's developed such good feel, not just
- 47:43Speaker 2: in the zone stuff where he's pressing the line anymore,
- 47:44Speaker 2: but in the gap scheme stuff that they do, and
- 47:47Speaker 2: he understands how to let plays breathe and what he
- 47:49Speaker 2: needs to do, and His vision has come along with that,
- 47:53Speaker 2: but then he's gotten thicker. He's gotten more muscle season
- 47:56Speaker 2: after season. His contact balance has improved. His yards after
- 47:59Speaker 2: contact has improved. He's consistently falling forward more and not
- 48:03Speaker 2: just a guy who's getting brought down easier. And while
- 48:05Speaker 2: doing all of that, he has not lost his fastball,
- 48:08Speaker 2: which is being fast and housing like 40, you know,
- 48:12Speaker 2: taking a 10 yard gain. He turns into 45 or
- 48:14Speaker 2: 60 in a touchdown. He could be gone in an instant.
- 48:17Speaker 2: And there's also some crazy, I clipped it. uh it's
- 48:21Speaker 2: on my social pages they ran a rapid duo uh
- 48:26Speaker 2: against um the chargers late in where's my nobody it's
- 48:31Speaker 2: sometime in the fourth quarter i have the time stamp
- 48:33Speaker 2: but i don't have my notebook right next to me
- 48:35Speaker 2: um and derwin james so they run duo derwin james
- 48:41Speaker 2: is on the edge and essentially just caves in the
- 48:44Speaker 2: right side. I think it's, he goes through Dawson Knox
- 48:46Speaker 2: and just completely caves, takes him right down. So cook
- 48:49Speaker 2: cannot go North and South at all. So he just
- 48:53Speaker 2: gets it, bounces around Derwin and he puts his foot
- 48:56Speaker 2: in the ground and he like kind of shaves the
- 48:59Speaker 2: corner and he gets North and South inside the corner
- 49:01Speaker 2: back outside, but around, you know, the trash on the edge,
- 49:06Speaker 2: but he, so cook is going to his right. But
- 49:10Speaker 2: he doesn't cut off his right foot and get this way.
- 49:14Speaker 2: He leans. He puts his left foot, his inside foot,
- 49:19Speaker 2: left foot. in the ground and he shaves the corner
- 49:22Speaker 2: and he turns off of that. Like I'll, I'll, I'll
- 49:26Speaker 2: text it to you after, um, after we do this,
- 49:30Speaker 2: it's like, I'm not trying to make something like the
- 49:34Speaker 2: way his leg bends, like his ankle, his knee, And
- 49:39Speaker 2: paired with his running style, I've always said he runs
- 49:41Speaker 2: the football like a solemn skier with the way he's
- 49:43Speaker 2: able to just kind of like get through everything. He just, right.
- 49:47Speaker 2: And when you see it, you're like, oh, that makes sense.
- 49:49Speaker 2: The way he runs, he's got this like lower body
- 49:51Speaker 2: flex and bend, but also within that there's like push
- 49:54Speaker 2: and there's burst. And he, I made a joke about
- 49:58Speaker 2: it a bunch on shows, but it's like a real thing.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I remember, I forget who it was. I think this
- 50:01Speaker 2: off season or during the season last year, like this
- 50:04Speaker 2: idea of like elite athletes and, like guys who turn
- 50:07Speaker 2: the corner, like edge rushers, receivers, but even running backs,
- 50:10Speaker 2: like the shin angles that they can get at. And so,
- 50:14Speaker 2: you know what I'm talking about?
- 50:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 50:18Speaker 2: And cook will run stuff. And I'm like, how, how
- 50:20Speaker 2: does your leg not break? Like what? And I just, I,
- 50:23Speaker 2: I should have slowed it down more and zoomed in
- 50:25Speaker 2: on this rep a duo, but you can see it
- 50:26Speaker 2: like just, he's got such unique movements and, and, and
- 50:31Speaker 2: the way he's built and the way he's added to
- 50:33Speaker 2: his game. And I've continued to say it for as
- 50:35Speaker 2: much as, the bills are Josh Allen, right? He's one MVP.
- 50:41Speaker 2: And the conversation is always Josh Allen. And they're pushing
- 50:43Speaker 2: the ball downfield more in the past game. They don't,
- 50:45Speaker 2: we brought in DJ more and Duncan Kate's healthy. The
- 50:48Speaker 2: straw that stirs the drink is James cook and the
- 50:51Speaker 2: bills running game. That is which that, that is what
- 50:55Speaker 2: everything is based off of what they do. The under
- 51:00Speaker 2: center stuff, the play action stuff, the 12 personnel, the 13,
- 51:03Speaker 2: the 11th, All of it is based off of the
- 51:07Speaker 2: threat of, ooh, are they going to give it to
- 51:09Speaker 2: James Cook right here? Even some of the shotgun run stuff,
- 51:11Speaker 2: like for, again, it's Josh Allen on the Bills, and
- 51:16Speaker 2: Josh Allen, is he better than Lamar? Should he really
- 51:18Speaker 2: have one MVP? Like, oh, is he not clutch? Is
- 51:20Speaker 2: he the best? Yada, yada, and I get it. The
- 51:23Speaker 2: straw that stirs the Bills' drink on offense is James
- 51:25Speaker 2: Cook in the Bills' run game, and it matters so much.
- 51:29Speaker 2: And in a team where Stephon Diggs and Josh Allen
- 51:34Speaker 2: were the two elite pieces on that offense the two
- 51:37Speaker 2: s-tier a-tier guys stefan digs gets traded away and it's
- 51:39Speaker 2: like oh what's your other a-tier s-tier s-tier type of
- 51:43Speaker 2: dude it's like is it deon dawkins kind of maybe
- 51:46Speaker 2: not all the time oh maybe it's like spencer brown
- 51:48Speaker 2: kind of maybe and then out of nowhere it's like
- 51:50Speaker 2: oh it's james cook who's become at worst like the
- 51:53Speaker 2: seventh best running back in football and that's only because
- 51:55Speaker 2: there's guys ahead of them that are bijan is ridiculous
- 51:58Speaker 2: and jameer gibbs is ridiculous there's all these good dudes
- 52:00Speaker 2: but like if you told me that james cook is
- 52:02Speaker 2: like in the league, RB3, RB4. Like for me, no
- 52:06Speaker 2: one's getting ahead of Gibbs and Bijan. But if you
- 52:08Speaker 2: told me Cook is RB3, I don't think that's crazy.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Especially like, oh, well, you know, I think Christian McCaffrey
- 52:12Speaker 2: has injury concerns. Barkley's had stuff. He doesn't look great.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Cook can be the third best running back in the league.
- 52:17Speaker 2: And the only reason he's not is because the dudes
- 52:20Speaker 2: ahead of him are just unreal. Jonathan Taylor, also like
- 52:23Speaker 2: an unreal dude. Like there's so many good backs. But
- 52:26Speaker 2: Cook has put himself into the conversation of, oh, like
- 52:30Speaker 2: who are your elite players on this team? It's like, well,
- 52:32Speaker 2: Josh Allen. It's like, Who's second before you even finish that?
- 52:35Speaker 2: It's James Cook. And so he and the run game
- 52:37Speaker 2: matter so much. And the Patriots last year in the
- 52:41Speaker 2: first game, they did a good job stifling that run game.
- 52:44Speaker 2: The Bills were not able to people move. They were
- 52:46Speaker 2: not able to find success on the ground. That was
- 52:49Speaker 2: the first game where a lot of my concerns really
- 52:51Speaker 2: started to come into play, where it was, you're going
- 52:54Speaker 2: to run into teams who are going to say, you
- 52:56Speaker 2: know what? We're going to play single high. We are
- 52:58Speaker 2: going to load the box and not let you run.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Because we don't think you have the dudes on the
- 53:02Speaker 2: outside to beat our corners. And the Bills couldn't. They
- 53:05Speaker 2: couldn't beat Carlton Davis, and they couldn't beat Gonzo. And
- 53:08Speaker 2: now it's like, okay, can you beat those guys with
- 53:10Speaker 2: DJ Moore and whoever else is your wide receiver two
- 53:14Speaker 2: at that time? Or do you even need to because
- 53:16Speaker 2: of what you have with Kincaid and all this other stuff?
- 53:18Speaker 2: I just think that run game conversation is so fun,
- 53:21Speaker 2: especially with the success the Pats had last year in
- 53:23Speaker 2: Buffalo against them and knowing how much that run game
- 53:26Speaker 2: matters to the Bills. So I think you're spot on,
- 53:27Speaker 2: and I think that's a good point.
- 53:29Speaker 3: I pray they can be similarly effective because we just
- 53:31Speaker 3: haven't really seen it yet. And again, we've seen them
- 53:33Speaker 3: not let guys be explosive, which is important because at
- 53:36Speaker 3: the end of the day, you just don't want him
- 53:38Speaker 3: ripping off 10 plus yards.
- 53:40Speaker 1: That's when he gets really demoralizing.
- 53:41Speaker 3: But also if he gets up 30 carries, then it's
- 53:45Speaker 3: not really going to matter how much he's averaging. If
- 53:46Speaker 3: he's at 30, then something's going pretty well. So I
- 53:49Speaker 3: hope they can be similarly stout, but I just don't
- 53:51Speaker 3: think the interior for the Patriots has been nearly as consistent.
- 53:54Speaker 3: And even on the edges, again, you're relying on some
- 53:55Speaker 3: young dudes unless Draymond Jones comes back for you. So
- 53:58Speaker 3: I would give the advantage to the Bills right now.
- 54:01Speaker 1: But man, I.
- 54:02Speaker 3: Just hope we see a very different Patriots team than
- 54:04Speaker 3: obviously than we saw last week. But kind of overall,
- 54:07Speaker 3: when it comes to run defense for that side of
- 54:09Speaker 3: the ball, some kind of improvement is desperately needed.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Cook ended up with a really strong day on the
- 54:15Speaker 2: ground from like a box score standpoint last week against
- 54:17Speaker 2: the Chargers. But I remember like even, and I think
- 54:22Speaker 2: And even now he's third in the league in rushing yards.
- 54:26Speaker 2: But there was a point in the game last week
- 54:28Speaker 2: where he had like 10 or 11 carries for like
- 54:31Speaker 2: 75 yards. It was 75 yards. It was either 10
- 54:33Speaker 2: carries or 11 carries for 75. But it was like
- 54:36Speaker 2: just so ho-hum because he was just ripping off like
- 54:39Speaker 2: six yards, seven yards, eight yards, four yards, nine yards.
- 54:41Speaker 2: It was just like such a regular like, there he goes.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Watch him gash somebody and the offensive line is moving.
- 54:46Speaker 2: And that's like Alec Anderson, I think is a question
- 54:49Speaker 2: and pass pro at left guard for the Bills. He's
- 54:52Speaker 2: not a question in the run game. Like they will
- 54:53Speaker 2: mash you and eat you up front. So that's a
- 54:57Speaker 2: big one for, for me. My third point, a little different.
- 55:02Speaker 2: I had to bring this up because I talked about
- 55:03Speaker 2: it all off season. I talked about it during the season.
- 55:05Speaker 2: I was putting tweets out about this. I think I
- 55:07Speaker 2: may have met, I'm pretty confident. I mentioned it when
- 55:11Speaker 2: I was on your show back in the summer. I'm
- 55:14Speaker 2: also fairly confident. I mentioned it when I was on
- 55:17Speaker 2: with Mina. Actually, I don't remember if I did. I
- 55:19Speaker 2: think that was a regret. No, I had to. The
- 55:22Speaker 2: Drake made deep ball like that. That that's such a
- 55:25Speaker 2: big one for me. And I have metrics to kind
- 55:32Speaker 2: of speak about that. So last year out of 33
- 55:35Speaker 2: qualifying quarterbacks, Drake may was first. So this is on
- 55:39Speaker 2: deep throws, which are throws of 20 or more air yards.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Drake may was first. in epa per drop back now
- 55:46Speaker 2: they've adjusted they adjusted some of his epa and his
- 55:49Speaker 2: epa per drop back when i first had this metric
- 55:52Speaker 2: and notes back in the summer um originally his epa
- 55:56Speaker 2: per drop back on deep throws was 1.31 which is
- 55:59Speaker 2: outrageous they adjusted it to 1.23 which is still really
- 56:03Speaker 2: good but that 1.31 or 1.23 whichever one and you
- 56:07Speaker 2: know you want to look at that's like the fourth
- 56:10Speaker 2: best epa per drop back on deep throws since 2018
- 56:14Speaker 2: since NGS has been tracking anything. And Brock Purdy and C.J.
- 56:18Speaker 2: Stroud had two ridiculous years. Purdy was at 1.4. Stroud
- 56:21Speaker 2: was at 1.3 one year. But his deep ball numbers
- 56:25Speaker 2: were nuts last year. So he was first in EPA
- 56:27Speaker 2: per dropback, second in deep ball EPA, third in deep
- 56:30Speaker 2: ball completion rate over expected, second in yards per attempt,
- 56:34Speaker 2: and he had seven touchdowns and one interception. This year,
- 56:39Speaker 2: out of 32 qualifying quarterbacks. Yeah, raise those eyebrows, man.
- 56:43Speaker 2: He went from first in EPA per drop back to 27th.
- 56:46Speaker 2: He went from second in EPA to 29th. He went
- 56:49Speaker 2: from third in completion rate over expected to 23rd in
- 56:53Speaker 2: completion rate over expected from, from plus 12.7% to negative 8.2%.
- 56:57Speaker 2: He went from second in yards per attempt at 17.2
- 56:58Speaker 2: to 16th, 13.3, not too crazy there for yard difference roughly,
- 57:02Speaker 2: but he, Again, deep throws last year, seven touchdowns, one interception.
- 57:11Speaker 2: So far this year, no touchdowns, four interceptions. I talked
- 57:16Speaker 2: all offseason, especially early on, it felt like that deep
- 57:20Speaker 2: ball was doing a lot of heavy lifting for May
- 57:22Speaker 2: and his numbers. I remember you and I talking about
- 57:24Speaker 2: it leading into the first Bills-Patriots game last year. One
- 57:29Speaker 2: of my favorite throws from him leading up to that
- 57:31Speaker 2: week was I think the one to digs against the
- 57:33Speaker 2: saints that ended up getting called back for offensive pass
- 57:36Speaker 2: interference or some penalty that like that one didn't even count.
- 57:40Speaker 2: And he chucked it like 45 yards in the air.
- 57:42Speaker 2: It dropped it right into the bucket. And I was like, no,
- 57:45Speaker 2: one's going to acknowledge this throw because it doesn't count.
- 57:48Speaker 2: And it's the best throw I've seen him make. He
- 57:50Speaker 2: was unreal last year on the deep ball this year,
- 57:53Speaker 2: not so much. And, you know, it's tied into the
- 57:55Speaker 2: larger struggles, you know, the footwork, the decision-making what's going on,
- 57:59Speaker 2: but that deep ball, they were able to push it
- 58:01Speaker 2: downfield without having a ton of burners. Like, yeah, like
- 58:04Speaker 2: Kyle Williams would do some stuff, but you were also
- 58:06Speaker 2: getting like Keishon booty beats Derek Stingley and everything like that.
- 58:11Speaker 2: And now you're just not, whether it's AJ Brown going
- 58:15Speaker 2: out or you're not getting the right play that you
- 58:17Speaker 2: need or the protection questions up front, or if it's
- 58:19Speaker 2: purely Drake may, you're not getting that deep ball production.
- 58:23Speaker 2: And so I'm interested to see, does that start to
- 58:25Speaker 2: click against the defense that has had some questions on
- 58:27Speaker 2: the backend? They have been a work in progress in
- 58:31Speaker 2: terms of adjusting to the new coverage structure and the
- 58:33Speaker 2: rules and adjustments. And I think getting to their spots,
- 58:37Speaker 2: having the proper spatial awareness, knowing where they need to be,
- 58:40Speaker 2: and everybody getting time on task together, because this was
- 58:42Speaker 2: a Bills secondary that's been banged up all offseason, didn't
- 58:45Speaker 2: really get to play with one another. So that's been
- 58:49Speaker 2: a work in progress on the back end. The Pats
- 58:50Speaker 2: deep ball hasn't been there. That's a specific aspect of
- 58:54Speaker 2: Drake May and of this game that I'm looking at.
- 58:56Speaker 3: I mean, and whether or not guys are going to
- 58:58Speaker 3: be open, it's going to be whether or not Drake
- 59:00Speaker 3: May sees the field well, pulls the trigger when options
- 59:03Speaker 3: are there, makes good.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Decisions and decides to check it down when they're not.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Like, that's been the big bug but with the deep
- 59:09Speaker 3: passing game is how well is drake may seeing it
- 59:12Speaker 3: and then of course also the accuracy is a part
- 59:14Speaker 3: of it but much more than anything as we said
- 59:16Speaker 3: earlier on the show it's whether or not he's making
- 59:18Speaker 3: the right decisions when those opportunities do or don't present
- 59:21Speaker 3: themselves yes i don't know that i'm confident that this
- 59:23Speaker 3: is going to be the game that they really turn
- 59:25Speaker 3: it around the patriots and start getting that deep ball
- 59:27Speaker 3: going i thought that was going to be last week Um,
- 59:31Speaker 3: but I also think that it's going to come down.
- 59:33Speaker 1: To the chemistry and how comfortable he is with Romeo Dobbs.
- 59:35Speaker 3: Like Matt Collins is really the only guy right now
- 59:37Speaker 3: that he's comfortable throwing deep.
- 59:39Speaker 1: To with any consistency.
- 59:40Speaker 3: So maybe they have a great week of practice and
- 59:43Speaker 3: he's feeling, you know, Romeo Dobbs.
- 59:45Speaker 1: And he's just like, you know what? You versus Christian Bedford.
- 59:48Speaker 1: I like it.
- 59:48Speaker 3: And we'll see, because we just haven't, we haven't seen
- 59:53Speaker 3: that level of comfort of, Okay, just smart decision-making. I
- 59:57Speaker 3: keep coming back to the same thing. I don't want
- 59:58Speaker 3: to beat a dead horse, but he's got to pull
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: the trigger when it's there. When it's not, take the
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: check down, especially if they decide they're going to drop 15,
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: 20 yards.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: To make sure that you're going to test your patience.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Be patient.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: You know, take Josh Allen's advice from when he really
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: turned that corner. Just be okay with the check down.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Take a profit when you can.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: We each got through our three. We answered some high-level
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: questions in the beginning. Anything else on your mind before
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: we start to say goodbye to the people?
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: I will say, actually not really, because like you said,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: the offense is bad.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: You don't want to talk about that.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Defense, we already covered everything.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: The one other thing I think that's significant for the
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Patriots is Marcus Jones always, like you mentioned him as
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: a returner, still a fantastic returner. If you give him room,
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: and the Patriots I think have been better creating some
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: space for him than they were kind of later last.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Season, but he's someone who can flip the course of
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: the game and things stay tight.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: So we're going to talk about factors and guys who
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: can really affect the outcome of this one.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: You can never sleep on Marcus Jones back there.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Copy that. Very fair.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: Special teams matter. I shouldn't say that. And, you know,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: Greg Dortch has been, you know, pretty good as a
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: returner to start this year for the Bills. Tyler Bass
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: is still kind of someone that maybe has the yips
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: and you maybe don't want to kick. Borgalis. Borgalis missed.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: It's been inconsistent. He missed one. He's missed a couple
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: this year so far. Yeah. So, yeah.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: Special teams are over there. One third. They legitimately matter.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: That's a good shout.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Good call. Taylor.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Taylor. Just in case people don't know who you are,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: what you do, where they can find you, anything and everything.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: The floor is yours. Plug what you got.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Tell the people anything and everything you want.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Pleasure is always my friend.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: You can find me at TheKyles39 on Twitter. You can
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: find all my videos. I have a show called Pat's Daily,
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: and we try to live up to the name. You
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: can find that over at PatriotCLNS on YouTube. And then
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: for my written stuff, you can find me over at CLNSmedia.com.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: You're phenomenal. Uh, I know you got to run, you
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: go do your thing.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Godspeed.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: I'm going to close down shop here. I appreciate you
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: taking the time to join me as always have a
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: good rest of your week. I was going to say
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: good luck in this game, but I do not wish
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: you luck. Um, I, as, as I've grown in this space, I,
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: I've become more of a, just an overall football fan
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: than I am a bills fan. Um, but the bills
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: are still my number one and I will forever hate
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: the Patriots forever. Um, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: the good that they do. but I do not wish
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: you luck in your fandom this week. I wish you
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: happiness and health in every other aspect of your life,
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: but that one piece. So enjoy the rest of your Tuesday.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: Enjoy your week. I appreciate the hell out of you.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: I will text you after to sing your praises once more,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: but yeah, take care and thank you for joining me.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: Appreciate you, buddy. Be well. Thank you all. Love your
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: fan base. Good game. No wax, please.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Maybe one for the bills.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I don't know, and I'm leaving on it. That's fair. Bye.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: One of the best, Mr. Taylor Kyle, somebody who I
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: sincerely value and appreciate. Very happy that he was able
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: to take the time to join me in this episode.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Something else I sincerely appreciate and that I think is phenomenal.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: One Pie Pizza, the best pizza in Buffalo, New York.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: If you live in the area, if you are coming
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: up for this game, if you are coming up for
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: another game later throughout this year, whenever, if you're visiting
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: in the summer, whatever. Whatever brings you to Buffalo. Whether
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: you live here or are coming up or down or
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: east or west at some point, stop in and get
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: yourself some One Pie Pizza. The online menu, address, details,
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: anything and everything can be found in the episode show notes,
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: whether here on YouTube or whichever podcasting app or platform
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: you're listening to the show on. I do not say
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: that they are the best pizza in Buffalo because they
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: sponsor the show. They sponsor the show because I sincerely
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: believe they are the best pizza in Buffalo, New York.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Sweet sauce pie, cup of charred pepperoni, a great cheese
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: to sauce ratio, different toppings and creative pizzas. The toppings
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: get sprinkled evenly along the whole pie. Just real quality ingredients.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Everything is top tier. The blue cheese is phenomenal. They
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: make their own homemade blue cheese, homemade red sauce. Everything
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: is made in-house and it's absolutely phenomenal. They also have
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: a catering division called Elevated Catering of Buffalo where they
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: serve you still get the pizza, but different macaroni and
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: cheese dishes and chicken and rice dishes and salads and
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: legitimately good stuff across the board. They also do a
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: really good breakfast pizza. If that's your thing, you can't
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: go wrong. And you know, the bills play Sunday, one o'clock,
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: wake up, get yourself a one pie breakfast pizza, or
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: maybe get yourself some one pie in the afternoon, whatever
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: you got. It sincerely is the best. And they're extremely
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: generous on top of being, you know, tremendous in their
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: business and their line of work, but what they do
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: with partnering with Roswell to try and knock out cancer
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: and partnering with the SPCA, the Alzheimer's Foundation, and then
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: one of my favorites, Toys for Tots. We are in
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: the midst of fall. We will be creeping up towards
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: Toys for Tots and that drive and that initiative, and
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: they always do a great job supporting Toys for Tots
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: and then try incentivizing the community by giving you a
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: raffle ticket for every toy that you drop in and
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: having that tied into different Buffalo sports prizes, bills, merch, sabers, merch, autographs, helmets,
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: tickets to games for the Bills, Sabres, multiple tickets, game packs.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: They just raffle off a ton of stuff, but it's
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: all based off of the generosity and charity for Toys
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: for Tots. So get yourselves a one-pipe pizza. Do your
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: taste buds some good. Do the city and the community
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: some good as well. Major thank you to them as always.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: I want to throw out the banner. It says, Toodles, folks,
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: because we are going to start to wind down and
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: say goodbye in this episode. Again, apologies for not being
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: live in this episode tonight, but I wanted to get
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Taylor on the show, wanted to accommodate Taylor, uh, his schedule.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: I am looking to drop, uh, a film breakdown, a
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: film spotlight episode of disguise coverage sometime as we go
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: forward in this week. So stay tuned, uh, for that.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: But if you have any questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, again,
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: apologies for not being here live to be able to
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: do it all in the live chat, but anything you
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: got on your mind, put it into the comments on YouTube,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: get at me on Twitter at pro underscore, underscore, and
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: get at me on blue sky at pro ant, no
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: underscores there. Um, and yeah, thank you to everybody who
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: tuned in. in whatever form or fashion you listened or
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: watched this episode. Thank you very much to Taylor Kyle
