- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here live from Joliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: We have a heck of a show planned for you today.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk about PRRSV, the temperatures in France, and several other things that should be on your calendar for the day.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: I'm really excited to get into it.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Let's go ahead and roll the intro.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Well, let's quote the markets and where they closed yesterday, shall we?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Grains, soybeans closed at 1124, even down 17 and a half.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Corn at 410 and a quarter, down eleven and a half.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Wheat at 579 and three quarters down ten.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Those are all the SEP contracts.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: We always like to just go off of the ones that have the most volume.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: On the livestock side of things, we kind of saw a similar trend as we did last week.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Live cattle were at 243 and a half down two and a quarter.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle were at 369 and a half down$2.38.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Lean hogs were at 93, 83 down 90 cents, not quite a dollar.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: It'd be interesting to see as the heat picks up in cattle country what that does to live cattle here in the next upcoming weeks.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Speaking of heat, let's roll on to the weather, shall we?
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Overnight lows were above 80 degrees in big cities like Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Omaha this week, setting kind of some records there.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And man, it's hard to cool down at night when it stays that hot.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, we're gonna see strictly above normal temps in the wheat belt and feedlot country this week for kind of the next 15 days.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: 95 degrees will kind of be the norm through those areas, unfortunately.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: So say your prayers for black-hided feedlot cattle because they're gonna be needing them this week as that weather moves in with that kind of heat.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Go ahead and have your fingers crossed there.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: We're gonna have a hundred percent read or 100% weather through the southern plains this week as well, down into Texas.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: So be prepared for the 4th of July scorcher.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: We have a report day slide up again because today is report day.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: The USDA Acreage and Quarterly Stocks comes out at 11 a.m.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Stay tuned there for updates.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: I'm sure Davis will be talking about it this evening on Ag Squawk with his guest.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Be sure to tune in.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Davis does a heck of a show and we wouldn't want you to miss it.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Well, the big discussion right now on our Ag Bull crew is our monthly subscription.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: It's$25 a month or$250 annually to get premium Ag Bull Intel.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: We'd love to have you as part of the team.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: You get tons of interesting things to read about there.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: And man, if you really want to stay informed, I think it's the best way to do so.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Well, back to our kind of livestock discussion, and the hog world has been really concerned with PRRS right now, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Normally it gets a break in the summer when things dry up and coughs kind of go away, but man, not this year.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: The heat has not staved off this from Faroe to Finnish.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: We're looking at a 25% mortality rate, unfortunately, costing the industry 1.2 billion.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Thought this chart was really interesting to see that normal range that we fall in cyclically, we're almost about to break out of it there.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Well, I talked about our premium side and I talked about our website.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: The big headline Mr.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Wiesmeier gave us was that Trump pauses Morocco phosphate duties to ease fertilizer risk.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: If you know fertilizer, you know it's expensive.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: If you want to read more about it, Wiesmeyer can explain it better than I can, probably better than anyone.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: So go on over to Agbol.com.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: All of Wiesmeyer's stuff there is free.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: So it's awesome to get your information from a guy that knows so much like Mr.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Jim.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Go on over and read that article because I really think it is a good read.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: The chart of the day, we're gonna go ahead and travel over the pond to France and Europe.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: The 15-day rainfall could be next to nothing over there, and so it remains kind of an ominous situation for summer row crops over there in Europe.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: But that's not the U.S.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: market.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: That's Europe.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: It's unfortunate, and we have to be aware of it, but at the same time, it's not our uh U.S.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: crop over here, so it might slightly affect ours, but you have to remember the sheer size of the United States and the amount of grain that we plant.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: So I think the effect there will be slightly moderate.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Well, it's been great having you on this morning.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: I really enjoy getting to talk to everyone so bright and early to get them prepared for their day.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I'm Jed Sidwell.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I'm with Ag Squawk AM and Ag Bull Media.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: We're a financial channel that loves agriculture.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Have a great day.
