- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I missed us.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: We did get an outpouring that they were surprised.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: We weren't gonna be We actually heard from people we did not think were listening who said they were loving us.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: They asked.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Random people.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, people I would have never thought.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: I know it's so fantastic.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: The shout out to Robert.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Shout out to our fishmonger.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Shout out to Robert at Smallworld for listening.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Fantastic.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Who would have thunk it?
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Who would have well, you know what?
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: We should.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: We should have more confidence in ourselves.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: A hundred percent.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: I completely.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Obviously, everyone is listening to this podcast.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Obviously.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: We just have to figure out how to get certain people listening, but that's okay.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile, I just went to Target.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: I was gonna ask how your target run was.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: It was good.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's you know, so where I live, there is a target that's like three minutes down the street, and it's the worst target in the world.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: But like you can go there for the you know, quick target y things.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: If you want like a target run, there's one that's like 10, 12 minutes away from me.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: We went to the close one.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, you went to the close one, yes, because Peter was come had come just come from the gym, right?
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: So he was like, I'm not gonna turn back.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, he would have if I asked, but I didn't, I knew what I needed was at this the bad target, but it definitely wasn't like a fun target.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Target experience.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: But I will say they put that um like fragrance brand, dossier.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Do you know it?
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: They like yes, it's the dupe.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: The dupe of the high-end fragrances, and I was like the Mesa Margella and all that.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: And it's like I have one.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: I think I'm like gonna pass out.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: Like, I have such a headache because I must have hit my nose too hard with it, and it's like literally, I didn't even spray it.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: It's like inside of my nose.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: So that was fun.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It's in your nostril, yeah.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: But the two things that I did get because I just heard I'm like a good patch person, but I just heard that the good molecules influence pimple patches are apparently all the rage.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: And then I do have to re-up on my Sophie Povitt Mandelic serum at Sephora.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: They don't sell that at Target, but I got, I used to use this, the not the Nuturium niacinamide serum.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: And it's good for like I'm having some, as you know, I'm having some like congestion breakouts in like the bottom half of my face, which like says hormones to me.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: I'm just like unclear because it's not really tracking accurately with where that should happen in my cycle.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: So I don't know what's going on, but I had a tough skin week last week.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: It looks so much better.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: It does, but I'm trying to get it like under control, and I'm hoping that this is gonna be like because all of I like what is in there, so it's niacinamide and zinc plus hyaluronic acid and vitamin E.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, all of that is great.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying that is obviously not taking the place of your soapy pot.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: That is all brightening.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Well, it's niacinamide's great for brightening.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Niacinamide's like uneven texture.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's like glycerin for hydration in here.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's gonna be very I think it's gonna make your skin feel really good.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: It does say on the front though, reduces congested pores.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Oh that must be the zinc.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say maybe that's a cinamide.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: I thought that was hydration too, but what do I know?
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Anyway, that's what I got at Target.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: And it was a quick More to come.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: More to come, I'll let you know how the serum is.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: But I I used to use it and like it a lot.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, well.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: I think that both that brand is very good.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Me trying to love her, Susan Yara.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: She's great.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Um, so we have a lot to discuss today.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we missed last very much week, which we're so apologetic for.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Um, where do you want to begin?
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, do you want to just go housewives and see what happens?
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, let's go housewives.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: So my mom started her housewives.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, I guess you've always been like relatively like a Yeah, but I've never like I have never watched like consistently.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: I've watched here and there.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Like when we were living together, I watched a little bit more.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Every once in a while I pick it up, but I've never watched like a full.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: So what made what was the conversation that we had that got you to start Salt Lake?
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I think because everyone was talking about it and you were like, you have to start watching it.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: And then it was it's such a good I find that all the reality stuff is really good for me when I'm traveling because I can just download, you know, 10 episodes, and um actually I I find that type of well, watching anything as opposed to like reading or listening to music, but specifically that reality stuff for whatever reason, I am I don't think I'm like a not relaxed flyer, but I am such a more relaxed flyer.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: You have like a mindless something 100%.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And it just passes the time, it's just easy.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Um I started trains and planes a lot.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: So I started Salt Lake with the intention, because you I think when last season was starting, you were like, you need to get held.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: I was like, get caught up.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: So you basically watched seasons one through five between when five was maybe in the middle last season until like maybe a month ago you finished or two months ago.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: I think that's right.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Um, so you watched five seasons quickly, yes, and now season six just premiered.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Is it six or seven?
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Is it six?
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: I think we're in six right now.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: I could be wrong.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Doesn't matter.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Anyway, anyway, um, so anyway, as for those of you.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Oh with seven, so I watched six.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: So you watch seven seasons.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: So um as people who watch Housewives know, Salt Lake City premiered two weeks ago.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Yes, and there's now been a special cast.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: Like it's a special.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: It's not just like any Housewives, like Real Housewives of Salt Lake City really came.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: I mean, I guess now seven seasons, but like it's a relatively new franchise and it does not feel that way at all.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, they're they're killing it.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Um but anyway, so season seven premiered.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: But there are now two episodes.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: We have not discussed either.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: We have not.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: And even outside of this podcast, we tried to not discuss as much as possible because we wanted our thoughts to be so my thoughts are well, first my thoughts on the first episode were it was just tragically sad.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Tragically sad.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Now, spoiler alert if you're not caught up, although everybody who follows it knows that Mary's son, who had been struggling with addiction and had just was recently or recently under the episodes, like released from jail, um, overdose and died.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: So the first episode was basically um all of them sort of getting together to support her, and then you don't see the memorial service or whatever you want to call it.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: No, which I actually really liked.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't think she would have ever allowed that.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I don't know though.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: You just never know.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Like I actually think it was incredible, whoever made that decision, it was the right decision.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: I completely agree.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: And like they all spoke incredibly highly of what the service was, and we kind of got like, I mean, we've seen Mary's church on the show, so we kind of know what the vibe was, right?
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: But I think obviously there was probably a conversation about it, right?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: And that the decision was to not allow cameras there was the absolutely the correct decision.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: And I'm I was like a little worried that we were going to see it, and that just there's just a line.
- 8:40unknown: Right.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna we're gonna circle back to that line because uh I am also now trying to get into New Jersey.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And there was an episode I watched the other day, and I remember thinking to myself, actually, Mark was sitting in the room, not that he was like watching, he's like, What is happening right now?
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I can't believe they're showing this.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: It was just horribly awkward.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Teresa's parents died, mom died, dad died.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: No, we haven't gotten there yet, but uh, not like a shocker.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Um, when uh I hate to even speak her name because I hate her so much.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: When Danielle took her daughter to the gynecologist.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: I don't have like concrete memory of that.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: It's not like you're seeing an exam, but like there's a line.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she's 16 years old.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Like, I mean, she just will do anything to just shill.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And I find her fucking revolting.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Like, I I I can't, I it I am trying hard to get through.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: I have started like speeding through the episodes where she is because I just know what she's gonna do.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: And then like I'll see if something looks like there's a confrontation that's worth like watching.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: I I I like literally loathe her.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: I I I find it almost difficult to watch that what season are you in?
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: I'm only I'm just finishing two.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: I mean you have a lot of time.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: I know, I know, and it feels overwhelming because she's so fricking gross, and I just hate her so much.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I it's and she just the way that she, I mean, I hate to use this word, but it's so like prostitutes her children is disgusting to me.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Exploits.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Exploits, that's a better word, thank you.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Because I don't think her children are prostitutes.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: No, I I just it's she's just willing to do anything to be in front of the camera.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, well, what obviously like you know about her.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Have her and Teresa had their big fight yet?
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: That's season one.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's season one, okay.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Um, prostitution for engaged crimes.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Anyway, that we won't go to New Jersey, but I did have a comment about the the watching the two is very interesting.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: But that I think was a line, and I I think it it's in New Jersey, like I they're so in the people's lives, so much more so.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: That was the thing that I was gonna say.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: Well, what I'm saying.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: It's very different.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Like, I first of all, and I don't care.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: I don't want to see those freaking kids and all the bullshit with the kids and like the rest of the family, and everybody, you know, even Caroline talking to her sons.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: I don't care about that.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: The shit that I want to see is like the women.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Here's the thing, let me just say I think that maybe because Salt Lake was your foray into Housewives, like that's what you're expecting from Housewives.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: But what makes New Jersey so special is that these people like actually know each other.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Like the Salt Lake women, they they do have relation, but like New Jersey was so like familial and well, they're all in the family except for like an extra friend or two that it's New Jersey.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Like everyone who's Italian who lives in New Jersey is related.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Like it tells it first of all, it depicts like such a good, it has such a good picture of like where they are in New Jersey, it's so accurate.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: Agree.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: And it is just like they are so in the weeds that when these things happen, I mean, like when the huge thing happens with Teresa, do you know?
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: Well, I do know, yes, just because it was in the news.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Like, right, but like with Joe.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: You watch them like get arrested and like you know her children, like you feel like you know her children.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Whereas like if that happened.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: Well, that happened with Jen a little bit, but you don't know her case, like you didn't know her kids really.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: Like, we know who they were, but we like people felt like they grew up with like Gia and Melania, and like now Melania is like get out getting arrested, like beating people up, and like people feel like they know her, right?
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: So they feel like a very close connection to what's going on.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: That I can see that's what made New Jersey so special, but I understand like you're in it for the drama, which I would recommend than Potomac.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's less family life, like Atlanta is still pretty family, especially like at the beginning.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: You see all of Kim's kids, which like have you heard about what's going on with her son?
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: Yes, despicable, deplorable, disgusting.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: But like when you're raised in circumstances, like not to say I don't know anything about her circumstances, but no, I'm just saying like they're growing, like talk about exploiting your children, like they've been on television for whatever.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: But I don't know, I do think he's just like a bad egg, obviously.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: Right, like at his point that's inside of you.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: What am I talking about?
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, her, so Kim Zolsiak Beerman, and her now ex-husband Croy Bierman have like four or five kids, and one of their middle boys, KJ, who's like Croy Jr., I think, or I guess he would have been like the oldest boy, um, was accused of sexual assault, and then it came out that he had like sealed records from a previous issue, and one was like with a family member.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: I haven't read it in it because like that's kind of stuff like I have to stay away from it.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: Makes me so sick to my stomach.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: So, but anyway, all to say, Salt Lake is back.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: We did not see Robert Jr.'s memorial service.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Here were my notes from the first episode.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you know this because you're not fully immersed in like every single housewives, but basically, you know, they have like their intros and their taglines, and then it shows you them all holding like the sign of their city.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: So for Salt Lake, it's the snowflake.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: Bronwyn is in the middle this season, which is a really big deal.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: Like, whoever's in the middle, it means like the season is kind of about them, and they're like the front runner of the season.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Okay, we did not pick that up, but okay.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: So when I saw Bronwyn in the first of all, not for nothing, but like not an original cast member, and they're only seven seasons in.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: So, like, for her to be in the center is kind of a big deal, and that just makes me think like we're we're kind of in for it with Bronwyn this season because Well, you can tell already, because from what I can see, she was with that guy Brandon Married.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: And now she's with somebody else, married restaurateur in New York.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: So she's obviously gonna be a lot of the, you know, whether it's drama or whatever, but you know, she's there.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's have your notes.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: Well, that was one of my notes.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm watching the scene where Meredith and Lisa go to lunch, and I'm like Because first of all, pause.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Meredith looks.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: No, so this was my note that I write down.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: I go, Did Meredith have a nose job?
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: I'm like looking at her because she had not yet spoken about what happened, what happened to her face.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, what looks so different about her?
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: She looks fantastic.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Fantastic.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: And then I write, is she wearing a wig?
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: question mark.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Like I was so confused.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: And then it is then revealed that she had a sick facelift.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: And you and I discussed that she's probably wearing a wig to cover the scars, but like it looks, she looks like she lives around me with that wig on.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Like it really looks like a yetti with the wig.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: It's a bad.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was like sliding in a couple pictures, it looked good, a couple places it looked really bad.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Somebody needs to be not doing a good job because she has like a bump in the back.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: It's so bad.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: But she looks fantastic.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: I want to know who her surgeon is.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: I'm sure that that will come out in due time.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: I wanted to discuss the John and Lisa moment.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: That I what do you think?
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Well, so like it can't possibly be that that was the first time that they had that conversation, right?
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: It seemed like it was.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: I know, but like how it's been a year and you haven't discussed like the way that you two were speaking to each other.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Maybe they just all along just went along.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, look, people do, as we know, so then I'll people live talk about coming back to exploitation.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Like, okay, so John, you're gonna like cry on camera and apologize to your wife.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Like it's well, I guarantee you, they are all so invested in that franchise.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: I guarantee, even if they had that conversation private, let's I guarantee you, Lisa said, I love you, honey.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: We need to put that on camera because that's good.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Like, John was literally like in tears.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: I'm like, he can't possibly have said it that many times if he's still that emotional about it.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: No, I agree, I agree.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: I thought it was really, really interesting.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Although it's funny because when he gave her shit last season, yeah, I was totally in agreement with him.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Well, I was like, you don't, yeah, she's tough.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: I can't imagine being married to her, but whatever.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Um, Heather Gay reminds me so much of you.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile, what the fuck with her boyfriend?
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Trip.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Love him.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, but like what is it's so like did you see like when he's like riding up on the motorcycle?
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: And with like he almost kind of like fell.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: It was like and they do like the kickstand dance.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm sure they're gonna be like, I'm like, am I watching a movie or am I watching reality?
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: I'm sure they asked him to do that like multiple times, but I think it's really sweet.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: He's obviously like a team player.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: I'm so happy for her.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, look, I hope she looks amazing.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: She looks incredible.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: I love her.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: She looks like she has too much work done.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: I saw uh Chloe Kardashian the other day on Instagram, and I was like, I every time I see her, I'm stuck.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: I don't see her that often.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh my god.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Like, I mean, yeah, she looks amazing, but every time I see her, I'm like, who is that?
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's Chloe?
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, she's unrecognizable.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: She's definitely had, I mean, she had a nose job very openly.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: She's incredibly thin.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: But I mean, her face, like proportionally, just doesn't look the same.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: It doesn't.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Well, she's had a lot of work done.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: Um sorry.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: I'm a little bit under the weather.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Um, and then my notes get to the second episode.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: So did you ever episode?
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: One final thought on the first episode, and it's a sort of a bigger conversation, so we didn't, we don't have to get into it right now.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: So, you know, they were talking about um Robert Jr.'s memorial.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: And they're all talking about it, you know, it was a homecoming.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: And I just thought I just, I was just sort of, it's not surprising to me, but I was just sort of so struck by that and struck by the things that Mary said.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: And my only thought on that was, and I I know that she is, you know, she believes it, and she's not it's it's real, of strong faith, to have such comfort in that your son is like with God and in a better place, not struggling, and as sad as it is the loss for you that he's okay, and that like you'll be reunited with him.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: I just it it made me think back to years and years ago when I was a very young lawyer, somebody that I worked with at Stradley's um father, a good friend of mine's father passed away of cancer, and she was a I think she was like a it doesn't matter, she was very religious, a seventh day at Venice.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: I don't remember what.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: And I remember she just said to me, she goes, I really miss him so much, but I know he's with God and I know I'll see him again.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: And I was like, wow.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: And we've talked about this type of stuff before in different contexts, but it just struck me, and I have my beliefs about like, you know, soul reuniting and whatever, yeah, but it just struck me the way she said that.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: You know, there's a little part of me it's like, wow, I wish I had that.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Well, I always say that.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: Like I, you know, my whole life I've always been like steadfast, and you know, that I I wouldn't say I'm like an atheist, but I'm agnostic, like I don't know.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: But I have a hard part of your logic of but I have always said, I'm so jealous.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: Like I wish more than anything that I had this like unwavering, undeniable belief that, like, you know, someone's looking out for me, and when it's my time or my loved ones' time, like they will go to a like a better.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: I always used to talk about this with one of my best friends.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Like, she always had such a belief and like a knowing, like would pray to God.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: And I just I was always so jealous.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: I think that that's so unbelievable and beautiful.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Well, it is interesting because I was listening, and I have listened before to various people talk about this.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Like scientists because I remember we did that actually.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you remember, I don't know whether it was your maybe it was Jake's Hebrew school, yours, where um it was a thing where the parents came to do like something at the school, and we were talking about God, and you had to go each side of the room was like strong belief.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: I remember this, right?
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: It was and then it was like, and I was the the non-believers, it was me in a corner with like another lawyer and like two scientists or something.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right, something like that.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yeah, well, that tracks, right?
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: And I found this so interesting.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: So Andrew Huberman, podcaster, also neuroscientist, and then there are a couple other guys whose names I can't quite remember at this exact moment.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Serious scientists, okay, also like hugely faith-based people.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: Like Andrew Huberman gets down on his knees every night and prays.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I heard him on a podcast like a week or two ago talking about it.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: And he's like, Yeah, I prayed before this podcast.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Like, I asked God to give me humility and blah, blah, blah.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: And I was like, huh.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: So it is an interesting.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're obviously not going to solve like the question of like the meaning of the world and God today, but it is a very interesting thing to me to because I I think that is an interesting concept of being able to accept and like really live in a science-based world, but yet bring that like into your life.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: It's like something where you extend he and he, I'm not saying he wasn't raised in it, but he did not have it for many, many, many years.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: It is like he recently brought it into his life.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: Maybe you need like a grounding of something that feels like you're not solving it logistically.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: I just I think it was fascinating to me.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Well, that's amazing, and it's good to know that you can have both.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: So anyway, but I was just thinking about Mary and like wow, like I mean, obviously, I am sure she is hurting horribly, but that would be such a coverful.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what's happening?
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Yes, agreed.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure every day is different, probably for her.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Um, what is going on with Justin Whitney?
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: I think that is a bunch of bullshit.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: All a play.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: I apparently they're like legally separated now in real life, in like real time.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: So it's possible that I'm completely wrong.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: But I mean, they they obviously love each other.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: And I mean, I think she's a fucking train wreck half the time.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: She is.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, I like I she just, you know, whatever.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Um, but I just think, you know, the whole thing where like, you know, I have you, I'm gonna move upstairs to the other bedroom.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the guest bedroom thing is like very I mean, I guess the idea being like we're not gonna uproot our lives completely, but then she he's like, we're gonna have to tell the kids, and she's like, Do we?
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: Like, I think they would know if you're like not sleeping in your marital bed.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just I don't get it.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know there's whatever there is between the two of us, the two of them, and then obviously it's like disappointment.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: Although I don't understand why why is she blaming him?
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: He went, he made the move to go into business with whoever they went into business with that like fucked them.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: Oh that was his call, that was his like meet, his whatever.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: She like says in this episode, but she talked more about it last season.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: Like, she wanted to go this way, and he was like, it makes more sense for us to go this way, and she trusted him and it fucked them.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure that that's exactly the reason that they were like buying things off of Alibaba and selling them, but I'm not sure that's the reason why her business didn't make it either.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: Because but something that he did was not good, right?
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: Right, and their business went on.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: How much money do you think they make?
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: On an episode.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: Well, that's like what's so funny when they all talk about like how poor they are.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, I would assume per se you it's like we can find this out.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: How much does I mean?
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: I feel like they're all making money.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Well, also they're like in like they make money on Instagram.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, like, not like Lee Saving, because they obviously have their businesses.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: And even Heather has a pretty strong.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, her businesses are a real business, Heather.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: This says Whitney Rose makes about$15,000 an episode.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Well, that's not that much money.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, but then you get all the extra stuff.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: You know, she goes to do Watch What Happen, she goes to whatever, she goes to a to do watch what happens or uh the fan things.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like Bravo.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: I don't think they get paid to do that, but they do Instagram ads, they're on commercials, like they're fine.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: Right, because I'm just saying if there's 10 episodes in a season and that's$15,000, well, there's way more than 10 episodes in a season, there's like 20, there's like 17 to 20.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, but still, like the way they live their life.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Well, yes,$300,000 a year isn't going to cover it.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: What's so annoying about all the, I mean, not Salt Lake 100%, but like what's annoying about some of these new franchises is like the idea of the real housewives was that these people were independently wealthy.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: That's why we wanted to know what they were doing.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: Like, look at Beverly Hills.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: Like, those people are actually, they don't give a fuck about I mean now you have people like Darique coming in here who like are having their homes foreclosed on them, but like Lisa, um, Vanderkopp, wealthy.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: Kyle Richards, wealthy.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Rina, wealthy.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Like, right there, they're not, they'll cash the check or they won't.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: Like, their lives aren't changing.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: That's the point of housewives.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: I don't want to see people who who are struggling to make money.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: No offense.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't want to fucking see them.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: I don't give a fuck what you're doing.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: What's the fun in it?
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: What's the fun?
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm I can just live my own.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Well, because it's a fine line.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: Because it's people that are independently wealthy, but it also has to be people who want to put themselves in front of the camera.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Like But don't you remember the story about they tried to find uh they wanted to do like a real housewise of the main line.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: And everybody was like, no.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: The rich people don't want to be seen, they don't want to know people to know them.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: It's very they're wealthy in the way that I want to be wealthy, which is I don't want anyone to know me.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: But it's very interesting because these like new, we're just kind of like welcoming, which I understand.
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: Like at a certain point you have a cast of people and you kind of just have to like they're trying to see what they got what they can put together.
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: And the drama is what is the most important, obviously, but like it really started as like a showing, like a show of wealth, and we've definitely moved a little bit away from that.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, I mean, look, Rhode Island is just like all about like how much shit can happen.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Well, there are some of them that have like I think not to say some of them don't have money, but I'm just saying it's it's less about kids rich right.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: She's a rich boyfriend, but she didn't, she wasn't actually rich, clearly.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: It's less about rich people and more about cat fighting.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I hate to say that exactly.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Which look, that is obviously what's interesting, but we also watch it for the bags and the shoes and the cars and the houses.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, when Teresa's buying furniture and she's just like with the cash, I'm just so I mean, I realize I mean it's obviously I know what happened to her, but I mean, it's literally insane watching her spend money.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: It's fantastic.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: Like, that's the joy.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: I will say, like, even OC, like I'm watching, I'm watching current OC, like these women are rich.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Like, I that's what I want to see.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: I want to see people with the city.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: Well, Bronwyn's rich.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Bronwyn's rich.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: I guess depending on what happens with time, she'll get a piece of it.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, like I said, but also who knows what level like I don't know what it is to live in like Park City.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Well, it's not inexpensive.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying it's inexpensive, I'm just saying like they don't live in Beverly Hills, like there's a different level of whatever.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: And are they all in Park City or are they in Salt Lake?
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: I meant Salt Lake.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Cheaper in Salt Lake than Park City.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Well, meanwhile, speaking of Salt Lake, the new girl, Ashley Quai, Quay, whatever her fucking name is.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: She apparently hit it.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: Well, she has no idea what her husband does.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: She's so dumb.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: I looked at wait, meanwhile, I'm Googling it.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: No one can tell me what this man does.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: Like, Google.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: They don't even know his last name.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: That's insane.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Wait, I don't understand.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: It's very confusing.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: I cannot figure it out.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: I the she's not gonna like.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: I loved when Bronwyn was like, why is she wearing that?
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: Because, like, literally, why is she wearing that?
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: It was I can already tell that I'm not gonna like her.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: She's I don't know.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: They just, you know, they're just like that.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: I'm sure the showrunners are like, we need somebody to bring some action in here.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: Well, and I like the connection between like her and Whitney, that it's Whitney.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: Do you remember when Sherry died?
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: The friend?
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: It's her sister-in-law.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: That's her sister-in-law, right?
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: Sister-in-law.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: I like that there's a connection because I hate when they just bring random ass fucking.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: Random people.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: But she seems very annoying and not someone that I'm gonna like.
- 32:03unknown: Yeah.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: But we'll see.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: We'll see.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: So anyway, that's our little housewives, yes, whatever side note and side note and side note that we have there.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: Um, a couple other things that I wanted to discuss.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: My birthday's coming up.
- 32:19unknown: It is.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: I'm turning 30.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: I love that video.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: So it's a big birthday, and I had this like whole big idea for like what I was gonna do for a gift and all this stuff, and I've just found that like I hate like pressure around buying something, like that I feel like it needs to be a big thing.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: So I'm like trying to make it this thing that I don't actually want because I had this whole idea that I was gonna make this charm necklace and I was gonna buy the base necklace, and then I was gonna have everyone who wanted to buy me a gift, not like everyone had to, but anyone who wanted to buy me a gift, like I was gonna say, I'm building this charm necklace for my 30th birthday.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: Two weeks into the research of like what necklace I'm buying, and blah blah blah.
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't even fucking like charm necklaces.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: I was just I mean, I I was just like trying to make I found the I found the idea interesting because you don't seem like a charm girl.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, I'm and I like the adornment of it, but I'm just like I'm not gonna wear that every day, like in my sweatpants, and like what I'm gonna take it on.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Like, it's just it's so not me.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: And it got me thinking, and then I'm like, okay, so like what do I want for my birthday?
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I don't want, I don't think I want like one thing for my birthday.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: I guess I could want like a tennis necklace or like but I maybe in my I was gonna buy myself a Chanel bag, like a classic flap.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: I'm like, where the fuck am I carrying that?
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: I don't even carry a bag, period.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: I grab my keys and my phone.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I hear you.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, not that I need to eat, uh eat.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: Not that I need I'm like my cake in my head because that was gonna be my next comment.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: Well, that is important.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: Not that I need to have like some big gift, but I also wanted to be able to say, like, this is my 30th birthday.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: I've bought my something, my brother.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: I was trying to remember what I got for my 30th.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: I don't think.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: Did you get it?
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: That would have been I did for you, not for Jake.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: No, I got the necklace that I eventually took and changed into well, it's the silver, now it's silver.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: Where is that?
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: But I took it off that it's in my drawer.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: How do you know?
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: I should find a way to because now I wear gold.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: But you can mix and match.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: It's a beautiful glitch.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: I should add it.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: It is, it's beautiful, or give it to me.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: Anyway, um, so I don't know what I'm gonna do, and maybe it's just gonna be nothing.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: But I am throwing myself a birthday party.
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: I mean throwing myself a birthday party.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: It's dramatic.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: We're gonna have a party at my house.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: You have a party!
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: Yes, and Peter had this like amazing idea because obviously I'm gonna get a birthday cake, but I'm like a huge please ignore.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: I just outed myself by turning.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: I'm cleaning out my closets.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna do that later, but nobody saw it.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: Okay, whatever.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: I'm letting like my mom.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: Nobody could see anything through it.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: Is there anything I want?
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Come take a look.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: What is it?
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: It's like a lot of random stuff.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: There's some sweatshirts, there's some shoes, there's some sweaters.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: I definitely don't need sweatshirts.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: Since I went to, I started looking at because I'm gonna move my stuff, my you know, winter stuff up and get rid of all my shorts and my t-shirts.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: And I have in like the bathroom closet, because there's no room in my closet in my room, a whole um shelf of sweatshirts.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: And in my bath, and in my closet in my bedroom, I have a whole shelf of sweatpants.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: And in the closet downstairs, I have another shelf of sweatpants and sweatshirts.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: So it's pretty clear to me I don't need any more sweatshirts and sweatpants.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: Well, that's why it was like funny over the summer when we went to LBI.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: I'm all every year I want to buy a sweatshirt.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: And Peter's like, you have to get rid of two.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: In fact, I need to travel today.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: He was like, if we buy two sweatshirts, we have to get rid of two because like they just sit and collect dust.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: So whatever, we bought a sweatshirt.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: I never got rid of them.
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: But I literally have you worn that yet?
- 36:37unknown: No.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: That is that sweatshirt that he gave you a hard time.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: No, he didn't give me a hard time.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: He would he just didn't want to go to the store with me.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: Well, right, but then he put it on and I never saw him take it off the rest of the time.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because it was the best sweatshirt.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: It's the best.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: It's a great sweatshirt I had to bring in.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: I wish I'd gotten it, but I wanted to get a new LBI.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: Because I hadn't had one in a long time.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Which meanwhile, like I have a couple that I kept, but I have in our room upstairs two shelves of sweatshirts.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: And then downstairs in our extra closet, I have two shelves of sweatshirts and a bin of sweatshirts.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: I have so many fucking sweatshirts.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: How many sweatshirts?
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: I see, I think you might have more than me.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: I genuinely think when we moved into this house, I had 150 sweatshirts.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: Peter was like, what is happening here?
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Like, what is going on?
- 37:27SPEAKER_01: And I go through these phases where I wear one.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: Like that's what I do, I wear one a million times.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: Or like I have like a rotation of three through the week.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: And then I wash them all and then I just wear them all again.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: So these sweatshirts that I haven't touched since we moved into our home two years ago, I decided it was okay if I got rid of them.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's fair.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: I need no sweatshirts.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: So all to say, that is why I have a collection of things behind me.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: That's totally fine.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: I was looking at birthday cake inspiration.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, Peter had this great idea of like what we're gonna do for the food for the party.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: I'm going to make, because those of you who know me know I love a charcuterie board.
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: I'm going to make a table-sized charcuterie board.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, fun.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: I love that idea.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: And then we're going to do a dessert charcuterie board.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: Love that.
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: And then I would like to do like easy, snacky things and obviously a birthday cake.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: I just don't know what I want to do for my birthday cake design.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: So just not like I don't know that she's like a design person, but she is an incredible baker.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: We should make a note to talk to my best friend Jill's friend Kristen, who bakes and did bakes for a lot of things.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, you are going to get it from Bakery House.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Well, there you go.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: I just had to decide.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying if you right, if you were looking for something else.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: Well, they do they do designs.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, no, no, no.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: Instagram.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: I know they do.
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: I meant if you were looking for like something not their care.
- 39:08SPEAKER_01: Definitely I'm looking for a bakery house cake, always.
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: Although it is interesting, I will say, the last couple times, I would say the chocolate cake is better.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: I still don't want that, but it's chocolate cake is way moister.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: But I assume we're getting a vanilla cake with chocolate icing.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I'm gonna do chocolate icing because depending on what I want it to look like, it might have to be vanilla icing and then like chocolate on the inside.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: But I love their vanilla icing.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do too.
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: I just I love everything there.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: It could be it could literally be chocolate cake with vanilla icing.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: I would still love it, but it's not going to be.
- 39:47SPEAKER_01: Um, anywho, so those are my thoughts on my upcoming birthday, and maybe I just won't get a present.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: I think you should wait until you see something that you love.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm gonna do.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm gonna do.
- 40:01unknown: Right.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: Also, um, we have started renovation on our basement.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: Fantastic.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: I wanted to update everyone.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: We're very excited.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: So hopefully my basement will be complete before my birthday party.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, do you think it will be?
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's exciting.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: Rug will be in and everything?
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: I'm praying.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: Okay, all right.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: All right, the last thing that I wanted to discuss was my niche experience of losing a favorite artist.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: So if you know me, you know I love Beyonce and like she's the queen of my world, and that will never change.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: But I did used to have a second favorite artist, Drake.
- 40:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: And I will say, influenced greatly by my husband, who literally thinks Drake is like the corniest, losuriest person that has like ever lived on the planet, which unfortunately he is.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: You think?
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I think so.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: I I'm trying to I used to see Drake twice every tour.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: I saw him for the first time at Union Trance, oh no, at the TLA with dad doing Thank Me Later tour.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: Like, I I've seen Drake in concert so many times I like don't even couldn't even count.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: The last album of his that like really I still listen to today's honestly never mind.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: Every album before that I absolutely loved.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Since then, he has turned into such a cornball loser.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he makes me like cringe more life.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: Fantastic album.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: He literally makes me cringe.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: And I just saw he put out like this video with Sexy Red for an a song that came out on one of his three albums that he dropped on the same day, all of which suck.
- 41:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's bad.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: Um and it was literally like it was making my skin crawl.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: That's how corny he was, and it's just devastating to lose a favorite.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: He's just kind of like, yeah, he's desperately trying.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: He's and like I don't think everyone feels that way, but I really do.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: And it's really sad that I can't enjoy him the way that I used to.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: Well, you can still listen to the older albums.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: I do, it just it doesn't quite hit the same because I just Well, we talked it because of how you feel about him now.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, like, that's like the conversation we have about like, are you allowed to?
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, very different, but like, are you allowed to listen to Ryan Adams anymore?
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: No, different, not the same.
- 42:41SPEAKER_00: And dad would always say you have to set the art separate the artist from the art.
- 42:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but like I I loved Drake.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: I loved his music, but I loved him.
- 42:51SPEAKER_01: Like my cake and my 21st birthday cake was said Drake is my baby daddy on it.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: Like I loved him.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so it's a tough loss for me.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: And I was just thinking about how much that has changed and how I'll probably never see him in concert again.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: Probably not.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: R.I.P.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: Even though he's well and alive.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: Just rest in peace to my love for him.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: Rest in peace to my love.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: So sorry.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry for Drake.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: He's his loss.
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: That's a fact.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: Um do you wanna comment further?
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: No.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: Since we haven't, you're done with Ed Sheeran.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: I can't talk about anything that we've talked about in the past.
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: So, like, please don't bring up Sydney Sweeney.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: Please don't bring up Sweet Sweet.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: I'm not talking, I'm just Okay, I'm done with that.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Um I did have a whole there's a lot of shit going on, which I don't know if anybody cares about.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: And we could actually talk about like a real thing that I wanted to talk about.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: But I did, you know, there's so much stuff going on in like all that beauty stuff that went.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: On in like the last week or so, which I thought was completely fascinating.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: So which of the things?
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: Well, there's the Wise, Jones Road, YSL, Dominique thing, where they all basically copied each other except for YSL.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, Molly Sims, who I actually really like.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: Like, did this, I was pissed.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: I so Wise Beauty is a brand.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: She has, just for anybody who doesn't listen to the ridiculous podcast that I listen to, um, has a like concealer that's whatever the hell it's called, like wake up or something like that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: Wise Beauty line is Molly Sims beauty line.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and then Jones Road, which is Bobby Brown's new beauty brand since she sold Bobby Brown, came out with a you know skin concealer or something called like wide awake, named the same thing.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: But like it wasn't trademarked.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: And she says her her people did a search and didn't see anything.
- 45:07SPEAKER_00: Um so the thing that bothered me about that whole thing, so obviously Wise Booty got like all bent out of shape and you're copying and yada yada.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: And two things.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: One, Molly Sims, I'm sorry, you're like an adult ass woman.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: If you actually have a problem with Bobby Brown, like a fucking icon in the beauty industry, and you think they copied, you I mean, that's why I think it's such bullshit PR.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: You get your people on the phone with her people and say, hey, what the fuck?
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: You just launched this, it's our product.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: We have instead, she did this very like tearful, overwrought like Instagram story where she was like practically crying, and I can't believe this icon, this legend, somebody I looked up to stole our shit, and yada yada yada.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: And I was like, really?
- 45:56SPEAKER_01: Like that's how it reminded me of something that I can't quite remember.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: And I I was like, that's not how we do business, that's how we create more story about ourselves.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: And I mean, that's fine.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: That's what people do these days, right?
- 46:10SPEAKER_00: I get it.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: Um, but then was very funny.
- 46:14SPEAKER_00: What came out after that was Y's Beauty number one used to just be Y-S-E.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: And Y S L basically said to them, uh, we're gonna sue you because you're you're and the the way they do their letters is very similar.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: Y S L like serif.
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: So they've now changed Y S E beauty to Y-I-S E beauty.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: Because that's like how you say it.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: So little pot kettle.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: And then when everybody started digging into the concealers, they realized that there was not only does Wise Beauty's concealer pen look exactly like the YSL Touche Clot concealer.
- 46:59SPEAKER_00: Not that there aren't a million of them that are like that.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: There are, and it's not trademark and anybody.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: There are a million.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: Well, everybody sort of does, maybe not that click click, right?
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Like anyway.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Did Wise one have a click?
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 47:14SPEAKER_00: But it looks almost exactly the same.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: I think it's even in a gold package.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: I could be wrong about that.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's in the white because that's all of her packaging is white.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: And I love her products.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: I'm not knocking her stuff.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: I think they're fantastic.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and then it turned out somebody else was like, oh no, there's this Dominic Beauty or something like that, who also previously, like three years ago, before Wise got in the business, launched a concealer called Wide Awake.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: So they're all copying each other, which whatever.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: That's what happens, right?
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: But then on the heels of that, Fenty, Huda Booty, Beauty, and uh who else was it?
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: I think was like the original and Glow Recipe, and then apparently also now Bubble, which is another one, which I didn't know.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: I don't even know.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: They're all launching this new iPad thing, by the way.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: Well, I'll tell you, it's very funny because I watched the woman who owns oh, what skincare brand does she own?
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: Charlotte Porter, maybe is her name.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: She owns a skincare brand.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 48:18SPEAKER_00: And she was basically explaining how so basically what they do is they all land a thing.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: If anybody buys um eye like daily eye mask things, you usually get them in a pot and you have to like stick your finger in and sort of like pull it out of like all the jelly, and it's very messy and they're all folding in on each other, and you end up with like half of the stuff all over your hands while you're trying to pull the iPad out, unless if they're like the drier, like adhesive y ones, right?
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: So they all came up with this formulation where it's like you sort of turn the pot and it dispenses like one at a time.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:55SPEAKER_00: Um, but they all literally launched this same new innovative packaging, like within like not minutes, but on the heels of each other.
- 49:05SPEAKER_00: And what somebody is saying is that whoever the manufacturer is who's doing that or packager or whatever, nobody ever said, Oh, by the way, like it must be one manufacturer, like oh, two other it's not Rihanna coming to the table going, I had this amazing idea for an iPad.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: Let's it's the manufacturer says, Oh, we just got this new type of packaging, or they're doing the innovating.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: So they clearly sold it to all these different brands, not saying, like, oh, by the way, we're selling it to this other brand too, because why would they do that?
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: I think that's how it worked then.
- 49:41SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: The woman that I was talking about, and I at some point it came back to me what brand she has, basically said, doing it like that, because then it all has to sort of like go into like a sliceable block that can be peeled off when you burn the thing.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it you're basically it's like I don't know whether it's saying it doesn't have as much stuff in it.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: It's saying like it you end up deactivating all the product by doing that.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: Now I don't know if that's true or not.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: So basically, what you're saying is they have to figure out how to do that without it being in a block, it has to be in its own sheet because every time you open up your little tin, you're releasing like it's all right.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: But if it's sitting in right, but if it's sitting in the glop, the eye eye patches, then it's that's why it stays active.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, whatever.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: I just thought like that was it's just like very interesting.
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: I'm apparently my algorithm has switched.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: I haven't been working out because I haven't been working out because my back isn't bothering me so much, so I'm not getting which mean.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take a week off of working out this week because my back is not.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: That's probably a good idea.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, you should.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: It's like time to back off.
- 50:51SPEAKER_00: It's so hard.
- 50:53SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 50:53SPEAKER_00: Take care of your body though.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: Look at me.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: I'm a fucking cripple.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 50:57SPEAKER_00: It's really upsetting to me.
- 50:59SPEAKER_00: I just need to be upsetting to me.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: Just not for one week.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: Well, you the minute you start feeling better.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: Um so the other two things that were sort of on my mind as we approach 51 minutes into this podcast.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: Okay, but I don't want to talk about the rape.
- 51:16SPEAKER_00: What?
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: No, we're not talking about that.
- 51:19SPEAKER_00: There were two things.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: And I the one I think is an interesting thing.
- 51:24SPEAKER_00: We could talk about it for a little bit.
- 51:26SPEAKER_00: We were talking about, and we won't disclose why we are talking about it, whether or not men are more or need to be more obsessed with women than women are with men.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: Well, like in terms of inside of a relationship.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: Yes, I don't I don't mean like out out there on the streets.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: No, inside of a relationship.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's an interesting conversation.
- 51:57SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing I think by nature, women are like and I'm not saying the first like three to six months of a relationship where everybody's like gaga.
- 52:11SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: Because I think everybody's gaga, or you should be gaga.
- 52:14SPEAKER_01: I agreed.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: It's funny because I do kind of think that, but like I think I'm equally as obsessed with Peter as he is with me.
- 52:23SPEAKER_01: Maybe we're still in the earlier, like maybe this is like for 10 years down the line.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: I just think like unfortunately, women are by nature, I'm not saying this is of every single, you know, this is a stereotype, like we're more loyal and we crave, you know, stability and like settling down and family and whatever.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: Like that's what we're searching for.
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: So like when we find a partner, we we're not like straying left, right, and center.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: We're not like looking for the next best thing.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: Whereas I think like the male persona is more like that.
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: So there has to be a little bit of an edge of like the man being a little bit more obsessed with the woman, otherwise they would just go stray.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:14SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 53:14SPEAKER_00: I like, I don't, I I think that it is true.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: I also wonder if any part of that, and I realize you're not in this place yet, so maybe that's why you're still obsessed.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: And obviously, in my current relationship, it's not like I have like kids and like a whole like family situation going on.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: I just think that I don't know.
- 53:34SPEAKER_00: I think that women tend to like prioritize and whatever their life, it's like their partner.
- 53:40SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying they're not like in love with them and love them, whatever, but they they manage and juggle other things that maybe they don't re- I don't know why it is, but I feel like they can sometimes like men retain their singular focus on like their wife or girlfriend or whoever, where women end up like I mean, I don't want to say like multitasking.
- 54:07SPEAKER_00: I don't know what exactly it is, but I feel like there's something to that part of it as well.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, and maybe that's just like I don't know whether it's like physical attraction, because I think, and I'm not saying women are not like physically attracted to their partners.
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: I'm saying I think men tend to operate more from a physical attraction standpoint.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: So it's like that becomes like more of like a well, and I also think unfortunately, and I love women, I'm just saying, like we unfortunately, I mean, our bodies go through a lot of change when we, God willing, have children.
- 54:45SPEAKER_01: We, you know, we age differently than men.
- 54:49SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: And, you know, we need men to be obsessed with us so that when we're going through all of those changes, they're not like see ya.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: No, which is terrible.
- 55:02SPEAKER_01: I don't like that.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: I don't like that.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: But I do think from like a biological standpoint, I just think it's like a male, I just think it it like goes back to my idea of like I feel like a I don't know, I feel like a guy can like date, date, date, and then it's like in somewhere, it's not saying they decide to like fall in love with somebody, but like it clicks, and then it's like they're like in.
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: Now maybe that doesn't make sense.
- 55:35SPEAKER_00: You don't think that that's true?
- 55:37SPEAKER_00: No.
- 55:38SPEAKER_00: I don't.
- 55:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, look, everybody always says, like, oh, it's better for the I agree with this statement, it's better for the guy to be.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: Well, all I said, the conversation that we were having specifically was that if you're early on in your relationship Well, that I agree with across the board.
- 55:58SPEAKER_00: If you're not obsessed with someone, and you're not obsessed with someone, what do you mean?
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: Be done.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: Right, be done.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: And clearly, look, like in the scheme of life, Peter and I are five years into our relationship.
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: Like, it's not like we're we don't have 20 years of marriage behind us, but like we're kind of still in that you guys kind of do because you spend so much.
- 56:19SPEAKER_00: I've never met two people.
- 56:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, Mark and I spent a lot of time together too much.
- 56:22SPEAKER_01: I was we literally did actually counting inside the house together yesterday, and I was going to sleep last night, going like it's like insane.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: We just had like a joy of a day.
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: I'm so happy.
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's amazing, and I'm not like trying to be annoying, I'm just saying, like I do think probably the most like I think about Don and Randy all the time.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: This is my childhood best friend Hannah's parents, like just so in love with each other.
- 56:54SPEAKER_01: Always my whole life, and I always saw it and like loved that.
- 56:59SPEAKER_01: Like, I thought that that was so I don't like when like people like rag on each like I get that there's a banter to it.
- 57:06SPEAKER_01: I completely understand.
- 57:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure they have banter like sure, I'm sure.
- 57:10SPEAKER_01: But I'm just saying, like, I think it's like lovely to be obsessed with like outwardly in love with your partner.
- 57:18SPEAKER_01: Like, otherwise, what are you doing?
- 57:20SPEAKER_01: Yes, what's in life?
- 57:23SPEAKER_00: I think they are.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 57:25SPEAKER_00: I think as time goes by, I'm gonna say I feel like maybe this is more my generation than yours.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 57:35SPEAKER_00: I feel like assuming the guy stays, he's I guess technically assuming as in love.
- 57:44SPEAKER_00: Women do cheat on men.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: But if that guy, if they if you're in a 20-plus-year relationship, I'm not saying the woman isn't in love with her husband, of course they are, but I think sometimes that like after you've you know raised a family, maybe done more than you what you thought your share of that, which is I'm saying this may be a generational thing, maybe a different question.
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: Like the man kind of comes to like, wow, like my wife did that.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: That's and it's or it's just like I like as in love with you her as the day that you know they first fell in love.
- 58:23SPEAKER_00: Whereas like the wife sometimes can be like, oh my god, like I love you, but you know, I don't know.
- 58:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, maybe that's not true, and maybe everybody has the I love you.
- 58:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, I do think that you specifically were raised.
- 58:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know what grandmom and grandpa Steve's relationship was like at all, but grandmom and pop up's relationship was very that was very pop-up.
- 58:47SPEAKER_00: He was very critical at him.
- 58:50SPEAKER_01: And my pop-up was like, I couldn't live a day on this earth without your mother.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: Like literally, yeah.
- 58:56SPEAKER_00: I asked him, she was being miserable to him one day as she could be.
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: She just sniffed and snapped at him on.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: You said can't live with them, right, Bobby?
- 59:04SPEAKER_01: He goes, Oh no, I couldn't have to be able to get them.
- 59:05SPEAKER_00: Oh no, I couldn't be your mother.
- 59:07SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 59:07SPEAKER_00: I made a joke.
- 59:08SPEAKER_00: I was like, you know what they say, Bob, you can't live with them, can't live without the other.
- 59:10SPEAKER_00: So that's what I'm saying.
- 59:11SPEAKER_01: I think that you were like raised with that example, and you saw that you've seen that example.
- 59:16SPEAKER_00: But I will say, with my mom and my dad, it was she was, I mean, look, she did a lot, he didn't do a whole lot, she took care of everything, and she worked, she was like and she was always him.
- 59:31SPEAKER_00: It was different.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: Well, but I didn't see there was a power struggle, right?
- 59:35SPEAKER_00: But I didn't see in my eyes growing up, I did not see her enamored, but I saw him enamored with her.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: No way.
- 59:47SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, which is weird.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: He had no eyes for us, he only had eyes for my mom.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: So you're saying in but what I'm saying, your dad did exactly what I'm saying.
- 59:58SPEAKER_00: Your dad was bitching a blue streak every day about whatever the hell she did.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_01: This is why men need to be more obsessed with women, because your dad did exactly Grandpa Steve did exactly what I'm saying.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: Well, right, but then he strayed.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_01: He strayed.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_01: So he was not more obsessed with like grandma would have stayed with him until she died.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_00: Yes, and I but I think situationally also I think he he also I think is very like cliche in a way.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: Like, I think he got tired of her, frankly, bitching at him all the time.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_00: And kind of look, I I I give it to her.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: She raised four kids, triplets, and an older son.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she did everything, and she worked, and he like you could barely get him to spend an afternoon with a kid.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_00: We had to like have like a special child of the week.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_00: I was like, special child of the week, it's not like spend the afternoon.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_00: That's a very generational thing.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_00: Very, and so I think that there's probably like more, and that's not everybody in my generation, right?
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_00: But I think that, you know, she, you know, there was a laundry list of shit she was annoyed about.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_00: Although you're right, she was completely just like thought he was the smartest and the whatever.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_00: But I think she was also like really impressed by him, and that meant a lot to my mom.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: Like it was, it was less like obsession in like uh the way that like I'm obsessed with Peter, like, because we have such a we have so much fun.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: Like, I never thought I would like love hanging out with like a straight man the way that I do with my husband, but like she was obsessed with him in like a the way you're like obsessed with like a teacher, like the way that you think someone is like so smart and impressive and fantastic, and that is not good.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_00: I agree, and and then she, I think he ended up, which again is something that happens, I think, a lot with uh men, especially of that generation.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_00: He became somewhat successful and was talking about and everybody around him, everybody around him professionally was like, you know, bowing and scraping.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he would go home and his uh for good reason his wife was like giving him shit.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and he was like, ah, I'm not interested in this.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_00: So I I mean, you know, it but it it's an interesting thing.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think I do at the end of the day.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_00: Things are different.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_01: Things are very different.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_01: So like I think that that specific situation, or it doesn't, I'm not saying it doesn't happen because I'm sure it does, but I think it happens less because like it happened very long when I was much there is much more emphasis on like the paternal involvement in the family home now.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_01: It's just like societally, it's like an expectation, whereas it obviously was not like that.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_01: But all of this to say, like, try to be obsessed with your partner for as long as humanly possible.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_01: It is true, and like find you reasons to be obsessed.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_00: That's a good thought.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: Find reasons to be obsessed.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_00: Look, I'm obsessed right now.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, not obsessed, but like I've been talking about this is so stupid, but I I have to say it was so wonderful.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_00: I've been talking about needing to descale my Nespresso.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_00: I take the that there's like a package that you get from Nespresso and you have to like put the chemical in and whatever.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_00: I I mean, I'm very bad about doing it.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_00: And I've taken it out on every every weekend for like the last three weekends and then not done it and put it away.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: And every weekend I say to Mark, please don't let me get through the weekend without scaling.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_00: Descaling.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_00: And I didn't do it yesterday, even though I was literally home all day.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_00: And I came upstairs to go into the office to to pod.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_00: And I was like, he was upstairs in the bedroom.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, what are you doing up there?
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_00: And he's like, Oh, I'm just doing some things.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_00: I said, What are you doing?
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_00: He's like, Well, I de-scaled an espresso, which I use.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_00: He doesn't even use it.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he gets his, he drinks his stoke out of the fridge.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I was like, Oh my gosh, thank you so much.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, that was weird big acts of service, people.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's he's a big act of service.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_00: He's he's a big act of service.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_00: That's not his love language, but he does do everything for me.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_00: I'm bad at that.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_00: Like he was sick this weekend.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_00: I don't think I even made him a meal.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, that's terribly horrible.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_00: Well, we had soup, we heated it up in the in the stove.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_00: And I the one night I probably could have offered to cook him his eggs, and I did not even.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_00: He made his and I made mine.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_00: Wasn't very nice of me.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_00: I'm I think I'm not good at that.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_00: I guess I'm lucky because he would, I mean, even on a random Sunday or Saturday or whatever day, if he'll bring me like my food on a tray up onto the third floor.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_00: Don't I know it?
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_00: And I do not do that.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_00: So I'm very lucky.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: Don't I know it?
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: You are thank you, honey.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: But he's very lucky as well.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_00: Yes, he is, but he I but as you said, I should find new reasons to be obsessed with him.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_00: That's the answer to a happy life.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_00: What's that mean?
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_01: I don't have like all the other things like boggin' weed.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_01: Like you're obsessed with me.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_01: You have a lot of like obsession already.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_00: I am obsessed with you and Jake.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_00: And my dogs, but that's not gonna change.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_01: Right, exactly.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_00: But you know, maybe you like it should be I should be, I don't know.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: I should find reasons to be obsessed.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go with the D scaler today.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_01: I think that's a great idea.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_00: Um, so I'm I'm curious about what other people think about the whole obsession.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_01: I kind of feel like I've come around now and I feel differently.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_01: Like I used to be like, yes, the man needs to be the most obsessed, but now I'm like, I think there needs to be an equal share of obsession.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: It could be it could Look and feel different.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to think about relationships of people that I know.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_00: And I would say that on the whole well, there's a couple that go either way that I can't tell.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_00: But like think about your friends.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_00: Even obsession?
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_00: I feel like no.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_01: You mean like my friends who are in relationships right now?
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_01: You seem to be thinking of someone specific because my answer wants to be yes.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_00: Equal?
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_01: Equal.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's interesting.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_00: I won't name names because I think that's weird.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_00: Um, no, I don't know.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think it's beautiful.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_01: Like, you look at Uncle Paul, he like cries anytime he talks about Eileen.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_01: Like he thinks that she like walks the earth, but like her obsession is shown in the fact that she runs that shit.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_01: She takes care of it all.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_00: Yes, she does.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: And she doesn't really complain about it.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_01: So like that's her level of obsession.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_00: That's her, she's very, very active service.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: So I'm just saying, I'm not saying that they have to look the same.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying, like, you have to be both be at the same level, I think, for a long-standing relationship.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_01: And it's lovely if it stays at the height the whole time.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if that's realistic.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, you'll but that changes.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_00: That'll change over time.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's different, you know, when you have kids, you'll both be obsessed with your kids.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_00: But like, right.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_01: You know, so it the focus is a little bit less on you, but it's your partner and and in their part in the case.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_01: All to say, be obsessed with your partner.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_01: That's the Okay.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_00: That's the watchword of the day.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_00: Obsession.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: Yes, seriously.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_01: I don't really know where that came from, but um, okay.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_01: Are you really?
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_00: One last oh, yeah.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_00: One last question for you.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_00: Because I heard somebody say something, and this is not a serious topic, but we'll close out with this silly little tidbit.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_00: How often, and you know you rarely wear makeup, so I guess it's a bad question.
- 1:08:14unknown: Correct.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_00: How often do you clean your makeup brushes?
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_01: When I was regularly wearing makeup, I was washing my makeup brushes probably twice a month.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_01: But like a quick wash, not like going through the whole process.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_00: Well, what does that mean, a quick wash?
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_01: Just like an underwater with some soap.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_00: Like you use the sp like the makeup brush soap type of thing?
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_01: I never use the makeup brush soap because my face is so sensitive.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_01: So I was always using my face cleanser on my brushes.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, interesting.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: Because I was like, if I'm gonna clean them, I might as well be getting some skincare in there as well.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_00: So, what's the next step to doing that?
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_00: What else would you do in terms of cleaning them?
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_01: Well, people get like the pad out and they brush them.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_01: Like I was just doing it like on my hand, like until the water ran clear.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_01: I got it.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_01: And I had like a total of like seven to ten makeups on like so many different things.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: I had like my bra and I think I do it like once a year.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, that's disgusting.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_00: So I'd suggest somebody said, I mean, this person wears makeup, is somebody I see on Instagram, she wears a lot of makeup all the time.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_00: And she was saying that it was gross of her to only wash her brushes once a week.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_00: And I was like, and I I don't use them really during the week very much because whatever makeup I put on is right just my fingers.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_00: But I definitely use them once a week, like if I'm going out on some.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_01: I'll probably say you could benefit from washing your brushes once a month.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_00: I'll just take that under advisement.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_00: I doubt for sure.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_01: Clearly, given that you just said you did it maybe once a year.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_01: Have you ever washed them?
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_00: I just yes, I have like the Sephora stuff, and I like take them all and I soak them in the sink, and then I do what the house is.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_01: That's I wasn't doing that whole thing.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_01: I was literally running them clear with a cleanser and then like leaving them on the sink.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_01: I would do it typically like on a Thursday night if I knew I was going out for the weekend.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's smart idea.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_01: Let them dry, and then by whatever Friday night or Saturday, they were clean.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_01: What do you think of it, yadum?
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_00: I think it's eat them.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_00: Eat them?
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_00: Yadum.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_00: I guess it's eat them.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_01: Yadum.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know why I said that.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_00: I've never heard them say Camille told me to get it.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_00: Is it great?
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_00: No, it's supposed to be fantastic.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_01: It's like the new I have the butter mochi, and Kelly got the like a colored one, and it looks really cute on her.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_00: I want to get a one that's like a mauve.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_01: Get it on Amazon.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_01: That's where I got it.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_00: I like this one too.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_00: This is supposed to be really good.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_00: What is it?
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_00: It's the um, it's for old people.

- 1:11:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know, we do them.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_00: Their stuff is supposed to be great on deals sometimes.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.

- 1:11:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_00: So anyway, that's all I have, sweetheart.

- 1:11:49SPEAKER_01: Let me know.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_01: I'll let you know how many I'm throwing away.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_01: It's pretty crazy.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_00: I did throw away basically my entire like dressy clothing collection.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_01: That has not been revamped more recent, like in in recent enough future.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_00: No, considering I have dresses that are 25 years old.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and like my prom dress.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_00: So I don't know why I was holding on to that.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_01: Someone recently asked me what I did like with my wedding dress.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_01: Obviously, I didn't have a dress, I wore pants, but I was like, oh, it's in my closet.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_00: Well, because when you have a wedding dress, I know you have to preserve box it up and preserve.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_00: Me, mom, like I would love you to find an opportunity to wear that outfit again.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I'll wear the outfit.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_01: I could definitely wear the pants.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_00: You could wear the top with like jeans.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_00: Jeans, black silk pants.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_00: Agreed.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe I just will.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_01: I'll go cook it.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know what you should do?
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_00: Wear it for your party! Absolutely not.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_00: Oh, honey, I think that'll be so great and fun.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_01: First of all.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_00: Are you gonna dress?
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_00: Am I gonna wear my wedding?
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_00: No, are you going are you going to be dressed up for your party?
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna look cute.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_01: Don't worry about my outfit.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_00: I'm just curious.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_01: I need to go to the cobbler and get my boots fixed.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_00: I have like three pairs of shoes that needs to go there.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_00: You know where you're going, right?
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, I figured you'd tell me.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_00: It's the one over in Ardmore down the road from.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_01: I think there's a good one in like by my old apartment.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_00: By your old apartment?
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_00: Downtown?
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_00: Is he still there?
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_00: There used to be a guy on 19th or 20th Street.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_00: He's gone.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_00: He's on 20th.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't know if he's still there.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_00: No, like next to the parking lot, you know where I'm talking about?
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, is Oh, really?
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_00: Is that guy still there?
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and he's good apparently.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_01: But if there's someone in Ardmore, obviously I'll go there.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_00: It it there I didn't I tell you the story where the I watched I was in there one day.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_00: It's it's the best.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_01: Because what whoever did your your Gucci loafers hate.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_01: Is that who did them?
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_00: Why do you hate?
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_01: There's like tap shoes on your shoes.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_00: Well, they put tap shoes on the bottom to get because I scuffed my front.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_00: There's no other way around them.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_01: It's definitely a better way to do that.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_00: Well, they could put like build up the entire bottom, but that's very expensive, so they just put taps on.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna have to go in there again because now there's to fix my zipper on my boot.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what I'm saying to you is I was there and a woman came in.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_00: She had obviously had smaller feet at some point.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_00: She came in with her pair of boots, and her foot did not even begin to fit in the shoe.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, it wasn't even just a stretch.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_00: They brought out the guy.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_00: She's like, I love these.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_00: I need to be able to wear them.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_00: And I was like looking at her, I mean, she obviously had something going on, like some sort of like maybe diabetes-related condition.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_00: Like her feet were like swollen.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_00: I need to be able to wear these.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_00: You need to be able to get them in that.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_00: And literally, they got the guy to come out, and he's like bending down, and he's like, Okay, we can do it.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_00: And I was like, What?
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_00: Now, obviously, I didn't see the finished product, but like they were literally gonna add like elastic panels to the sides of her shoes so she could get in them again.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_00: They're great, yeah.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, sounds good.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_01: Love you, love you.
