Latest / Michelle Explains Anime, Poorly / 86 [Eighty-Six] Ep.12- Welcome
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. I guess back again, probably
- 0:05Speaker 1: I think, And yeah, I don't know what I was
- 0:09Speaker 1: gonna say. I don't think anything. I just want to
- 0:11Speaker 1: talk about eighty six episode twelve, like we do. I mean,
- 0:16Speaker 1: we've never talked about eighty six episode twelve before, but
- 0:19Speaker 1: we talked about the other episodes, so it's similar, you know. Anyway,
- 0:24Speaker 1: We're just gonna get right into it because I don't
- 0:26Speaker 1: have anything interesting to say at all, and last week
- 0:31Speaker 1: was kind of a big thing, you know, with the
- 0:33Speaker 1: end of the episode being so bad, with like shin
- 0:38Speaker 1: on the ground and red scribbles over his head. So
- 0:41Speaker 1: we probably should find out what happens next, right, I guess.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I mean I already know and you already probably know two,
- 0:47Speaker 1: but let's talk about it anyway. So episode twelve is
- 0:52Speaker 1: called Welcome. Okay, that's nice. It's nice to welcome people places.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And it starts exactly like episodisode one. It's black. We
- 1:02Speaker 1: hear some mechanical whirring noises in the background, and then
- 1:06Speaker 1: these red lights, like two distinct red lights start to
- 1:09Speaker 1: appear and fade out like twice, and then it gets
- 1:12Speaker 1: lighter and we see that we are kind of running
- 1:15Speaker 1: down train tracks and the light is probably coming from
- 1:18Speaker 1: a juggernaut and being cast on to them, and we're
- 1:23Speaker 1: clearly moving forward but still facing pretty much down at
- 1:26Speaker 1: the tracks, and someone says a woman, probably Cyclops, to
- 1:31Speaker 1: Handler one, they've reached the old high speed railroad terminal.
- 1:34Speaker 1: At point one twenty two. We lift up from the
- 1:37Speaker 1: train tracks. Again. This is almost exactly the same scene
- 1:40Speaker 1: as in the first episode. I actually just checked to
- 1:43Speaker 1: make sure it wasn't exactly the same. It's a little different.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Before there was like a split off in the rail
- 1:48Speaker 1: and this one the rail is just going straight forward,
- 1:51Speaker 1: so I guess kudos to not using the exact same
- 1:55Speaker 1: shit again, but still pretty close anyway. We lift up
- 2:00Speaker 1: and we see, you know, like a barren landscape like
- 2:03Speaker 1: in the first episode, and it's dusk or maybe it's dawn,
- 2:07Speaker 1: I don't know, and there are those like sparkles in
- 2:09Speaker 1: the air from I think, like those jammer flying legion
- 2:13Speaker 1: things that we see sometimes. So the person, I guess Cyclops,
- 2:17Speaker 1: says sorry, they were jamming the radar and it took
- 2:19Speaker 1: us a while to find them. This is gonna be
- 2:21Speaker 1: a rough first fight for the new kids. Finally, a
- 2:24Speaker 1: juggernaut passes the camera and we see it scampering down
- 2:27Speaker 1: the train tracks, and then we cut to the control
- 2:29Speaker 1: room really briefly, and then back to the battlefields and
- 2:32Speaker 1: Cyclops says, what should we do at this point? They're
- 2:35Speaker 1: like shooting and getting shot out by a legion, I guess,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and we hear Lena say, deploy our main force at
- 2:41Speaker 1: zero sixty two, then lure them out with another units.
- 2:44Speaker 1: We see cyclops is insignia on their juggernaut and it
- 2:48Speaker 1: is a like an eye in like kind of a
- 2:51Speaker 1: green circle. It's actually pretty cool. We cut to one
- 2:54Speaker 1: of Lena's screens in the control room and it says
- 2:58Speaker 1: fixed artillery controls system. Fuck, really, I don't think you
- 3:02Speaker 1: have access to that, and Lena says that it put
- 3:05Speaker 1: them in range of the remaining howitzers. I learned that
- 3:08Speaker 1: a howitzer is like a cross between a cannon and
- 3:11Speaker 1: a mortar, which didn't help me at all, But when
- 3:14Speaker 1: I saw pictures of it, it's like a big gun
- 3:16Speaker 1: with wheels of some sort, maybe so you can move
- 3:19Speaker 1: the gun around. I don't really know. I don't understand
- 3:22Speaker 1: army stuff anyway, Cyclops says, so we're fighting them right
- 3:26Speaker 1: in front of the base. Huh. At this point, we
- 3:28Speaker 1: can see lots of Legion in front of them, and
- 3:30Speaker 1: they're like firing and stuff, and she continues, if they
- 3:34Speaker 1: make it through, there's nothing but minefields and howitzers to
- 3:36Speaker 1: keep them out. Right, We cut to the Lena pig
- 3:40Speaker 1: drawing pinned to a wall or magneted to a wall,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and Lena says, but it's the best location we have
- 3:46Speaker 1: if we're gonna survive. Back to the fighting. So now
- 3:50Speaker 1: we finally see Cyclops in her juggernauts, and she has
- 3:53Speaker 1: like reddish short hair and one purple eye. Her left
- 3:56Speaker 1: eyes purple, and her right eye is kind of like grayish,
- 3:59Speaker 1: like maybe it's been injured and maybe that's why she's cyclopped.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I don't know, but anyway, she smiles and she looks
- 4:04Speaker 1: super fucking determined and I love her and she says, yes,
- 4:08Speaker 1: my queen. What We go back to Lena, and then
- 4:12Speaker 1: we go to the show title card, which we last
- 4:15Speaker 1: saw in episode one, So it just says eighty six
- 4:17Speaker 1: and eighty six under it, because that's how it looks.
- 4:20Speaker 1: It's on a black screen, and then some red spider
- 4:23Speaker 1: lily flower petals like drift up from the right corner
- 4:26Speaker 1: back from the show title card, we have a close
- 4:30Speaker 1: up of the heads of like three statues that are
- 4:33Speaker 1: standing next to each other, or maybe it's one big
- 4:35Speaker 1: statue with three people. I don't really know. They're kind
- 4:37Speaker 1: of weathered and cracked, and in the background we hear
- 4:40Speaker 1: a voice saying, now for today's update on the war
- 4:43Speaker 1: from San Magnolia Military HQ. We cuts to the street
- 4:48Speaker 1: and the sky is gray and it looks like maybe
- 4:50Speaker 1: it's a little foggy or smoggy, I wasn't really sure.
- 4:53Speaker 1: And a pair of high heeled boots walk past us,
- 4:56Speaker 1: and we see that is December second, twenty one, forty eight,
- 4:59Speaker 1: so it's like a month and a half from the
- 5:02Speaker 1: last bit of episode eleven. Anyway, the voice continues, Our
- 5:07Speaker 1: nation's autonomous Juggernaut units intercepted the Legion's mechanized infantry drones,
- 5:11Speaker 1: dealt critical damage and force them to withdraw. We're kind
- 5:15Speaker 1: of across the street now, but we can see Lena
- 5:17Speaker 1: walking down the street on the other side, and we
- 5:20Speaker 1: cut to a bunch of shots of Alba hanging out
- 5:23Speaker 1: watching a magic show, laughing walking down the street, and
- 5:28Speaker 1: the voice continues combat via highly advanced, ethically responsible drones
- 5:33Speaker 1: has resulted on zero fatalities on our side. This is
- 5:36Speaker 1: basically the same as the first episode, guys. Anyway, it
- 5:41Speaker 1: continues the day when our righteous nation finally smashes through
- 5:44Speaker 1: the evil remnants of the wicked Empire is not far off.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Lena walks past the screen where that woman is giving
- 5:52Speaker 1: this news report, and we know that it's cold out
- 5:55Speaker 1: because she can see her breath and she's also wearing
- 5:57Speaker 1: a coat. The woman continues glory to the republic look
- 6:00Speaker 1: of Sam Magnolia into the five colored flag. We cut
- 6:03Speaker 1: to that statue of Saint Magnolia that's like in the
- 6:05Speaker 1: fountain in the Military HQ, with the five colored flag
- 6:09Speaker 1: visible behind it, and there is lots of drunken laughter. Yes,
- 6:14Speaker 1: there's a lot of drunk guys around, just like in
- 6:16Speaker 1: the first episode. It's like, literally nothing has changed at
- 6:20Speaker 1: all here except that we lost Spearhead, which is kind
- 6:24Speaker 1: of upsetting. You know, Life just keeps moving even if
- 6:28Speaker 1: people that you care about are viciously murdered by their
- 6:31Speaker 1: own nation. Basically so, anyway, the drunk guys are there,
- 6:35Speaker 1: and one of them sets a beer down on the
- 6:36Speaker 1: table and turns and he's like, hey, it's the doll
- 6:40Speaker 1: crushing princess. Fuck Lena is walking past them and not
- 6:45Speaker 1: acknowledging them, different than in the first episode, definitely, And
- 6:49Speaker 1: the second guy says, I heard you had another victory
- 6:51Speaker 1: against the Legion threat today, stained with the blood of pigs.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Fuck guys, And the third guy says, that's why they
- 6:59Speaker 1: call her Bloody Regina, the bloody Queen. That's not a
- 7:03Speaker 1: good title. You don't want to say bloody twice. It
- 7:06Speaker 1: doesn't work like that. Anyway. We see that Lena, who
- 7:10Speaker 1: is still not acknowledging them, has a really bright red
- 7:13Speaker 1: stripe in her hair that like, I guess she's dyed.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It's like right behind her kind of right ear. I
- 7:18Speaker 1: think it's pretty cool. I used to have a red
- 7:20Speaker 1: stripe in my hair when I was a teenager, so
- 7:23Speaker 1: I totally understand where she's coming from. Yeah, Lena individuality,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I mean, that's not what it is, but still I
- 7:32Speaker 1: get it. It's probably to represent, you know, the bloodshed
- 7:37Speaker 1: of the nation. But I still think it looks super
- 7:39Speaker 1: fucking edgy. And I know it's not a phase Lena,
- 7:41Speaker 1: so don't worry anyway. She's still walking the first guy says,
- 7:46Speaker 1: you learn to tell the difference between men and pigs.
- 7:48Speaker 1: At this point, Lena is super far past them and
- 7:51Speaker 1: they gotta stop talking to her. I guess, And the
- 7:53Speaker 1: second guy kind of turns to the group and says,
- 7:56Speaker 1: she never changes her expression. Who knows what she's thinking.
- 7:59Speaker 1: The first guy shri and the third guy says, getting
- 8:01Speaker 1: demoted for the sake of those pigs wearing a black
- 8:04Speaker 1: uniform when no one else does. Oh shit, she got demoted.
- 8:08Speaker 1: The first guy says, the legion won't even be around
- 8:11Speaker 1: in two years. Yes, they will be. They so will be.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We cut briefly to a crack in the side of
- 8:19Speaker 1: the fountain where water is spilling out. Yeah, things are
- 8:23Speaker 1: gonna get worse. The second guy says, her family's rich
- 8:26Speaker 1: and famous, right. Lena at this point is walking past
- 8:30Speaker 1: San Magnolia statue sword, and he continues, had she just
- 8:35Speaker 1: done nothing, she could have been on easy Street. Lena
- 8:37Speaker 1: walks through security and she is slowly approaching Annette, who
- 8:42Speaker 1: was walking a bit in front of her. She catches
- 8:44Speaker 1: up and says, morning, and that's like morning. She looks
- 8:49Speaker 1: pretty fucking blank, and then she looks down at some
- 8:52Speaker 1: paper she's holding and says there's something I wanted to
- 8:55Speaker 1: check up on from what you asked, the additional settings
- 8:57Speaker 1: on the power ray device. Lena's like, fine, I'll be
- 9:00Speaker 1: there in two hours. Adet smiles, Okay, see you. Then
- 9:05Speaker 1: Lena turns and then walks down another hallway away from Annettes.
- 9:09Speaker 1: She throws off her coat and we see that she
- 9:11Speaker 1: is indeed wearing a black uniform instead of the blue
- 9:14Speaker 1: ones that everyone else wears. Again, super fucking edgy and cool, Lena,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I love you. Before we go any further, I just
- 9:22Speaker 1: wanted to pause here and say that, actually, before I
- 9:26Speaker 1: started talking about this, I wasn't sure how I felt
- 9:28Speaker 1: about the beginning of the episode mirroring the beginning of
- 9:31Speaker 1: episode one, But thinking about it, it's really cool because
- 9:36Speaker 1: you see how much has changed and how much hasn't changed.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Like the entire society is the same, except that it's
- 9:42Speaker 1: colder out now. Everyone is still going about their business,
- 9:46Speaker 1: the news is still spouting lies about who dies in
- 9:51Speaker 1: the war and when it's going to end. And Lena
- 9:55Speaker 1: is still there, still working, but like a completely different person.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I mean, not really completely different, but with so much
- 10:04Speaker 1: more experience, like life experience and knowledge about her country
- 10:10Speaker 1: and about what she has to do. Even Annette, who
- 10:14Speaker 1: when we first saw her in the first episode was
- 10:16Speaker 1: like exhausted, like she doesn't normally get up early. She
- 10:18Speaker 1: was yawning, she wasn't really professional. It's such a big
- 10:22Speaker 1: difference to the way Annette is, you know, reacting in
- 10:26Speaker 1: the beginning of this episode, where her tone is a
- 10:29Speaker 1: lot more professional, and she seems like she's helping Lena
- 10:33Speaker 1: and that she cares or that she feels like she
- 10:35Speaker 1: has to care. I'm not really sure. So I just
- 10:38Speaker 1: think it's cool. I like it. And I also really
- 10:40Speaker 1: like edgy Lena a lot. Again, super nice red stripe
- 10:45Speaker 1: in her hair. Okay, so yeah, I like that. I
- 10:49Speaker 1: like the whole. Like I just said a couple of
- 10:51Speaker 1: minutes ago, the whole the world continues, even though the
- 10:55Speaker 1: people that you loved are dead and you're the only
- 10:58Speaker 1: one that's changed. I think it's really fucking cool. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: just like it. I don't know, guys, I got really
- 11:03Speaker 1: excited because I just like put this all together right
- 11:06Speaker 1: now in my brain as I was saying this, So yay,
- 11:09Speaker 1: I guess anyway, we hear a guy say how many
- 11:14Speaker 1: times do I have to tell you Captain Malise. We
- 11:18Speaker 1: got to Lena standing in an office looking, you know,
- 11:22Speaker 1: vaguely unhappy, and there's a dude who I guess is
- 11:25Speaker 1: her superior. For a second, I thought it was Carl Stahl,
- 11:28Speaker 1: but it's not. He is sitting at a desk filing
- 11:31Speaker 1: his nails, which is not very I was gonna say sanitary,
- 11:35Speaker 1: but that's not the right word. It's just disrespectful to
- 11:37Speaker 1: file your nails in front of your subordinate, like you're
- 11:40Speaker 1: supposed to be paying an attention to her and having
- 11:41Speaker 1: a conversation, like fucking look her in the eye anyway.
- 11:45Speaker 1: He says, unauthorized use of the howitzers. I thought so,
- 11:50Speaker 1: unscheduled supply drops, taking direct command from other units not
- 11:54Speaker 1: below you. He pounds his fist on a stack of papers,
- 11:57Speaker 1: and he's like, do you know how many complaints on
- 12:00Speaker 1: getting don't make me do extra work for the sake
- 12:03Speaker 1: of those damn eighty six Fuck you dude. Lena's like,
- 12:07Speaker 1: if you'd given me permission in advance, you wouldn't have
- 12:10Speaker 1: to tell me any of this, Lieutenant Colonel. The Colonel's like, what,
- 12:14Speaker 1: Lana continues, you and all of them are free to
- 12:18Speaker 1: complain all you like, but it's got nothing to do
- 12:20Speaker 1: with me. I think it has a lot to do
- 12:22Speaker 1: with you, Lena. The colonel pushes some of the papers
- 12:25Speaker 1: from the pile of complaints onto the floor and he's like,
- 12:27Speaker 1: your little brat, know your place. You're just a captain. Lena,
- 12:32Speaker 1: who by the way, has zero expression on her face
- 12:35Speaker 1: or in her voice, says, are you sure you want
- 12:38Speaker 1: me to know my place? The colonel gasps. Lana continues,
- 12:42Speaker 1: your subordinates results reflect on your own career. The Colonel's
- 12:46Speaker 1: like what, Lanta continues, I'm currently the top handler. If
- 12:52Speaker 1: my legion Kilraate goes down, you risk not being promoted.
- 12:56Speaker 1: She gives him like the cruelest smirk. Right. The colonel
- 13:01Speaker 1: guy stares at her, looking super fucking pissed, but then
- 13:05Speaker 1: he looks away like ashamed because she's like totally right,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and he sits back down and says, watch your mouth, Captain.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Lena salutes, excuse me, Lieutenant colonel, and she turns to leave.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Once she's gone, the colonel sighs and kind of fixes
- 13:22Speaker 1: his hair and takes one of the papers from the
- 13:25Speaker 1: piles to look at it. We got to a bunch
- 13:27Speaker 1: of guys walking on like a second floor, maybe like
- 13:30Speaker 1: open hallway, because you can see the first floor below
- 13:33Speaker 1: it's and Lena is walking below it on the first floor,
- 13:38Speaker 1: and Carl Stol's there and he looks down and he
- 13:41Speaker 1: sees her like walking with the net and talking to her,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and he does not look happy. It probably shouldn't look happy.
- 13:49Speaker 1: He probably shouldn't have allowed her to keep her jobs,
- 13:51Speaker 1: seeing as she keeps going rogue. But then again, she
- 13:54Speaker 1: is getting results. But you really don't want someone who's
- 13:57Speaker 1: ignoring everything you say, so really they should have fired her,
- 14:02Speaker 1: but whatever, again nepotism. We now see Lena walking with
- 14:06Speaker 1: a group of other maybe commanders, people in military uniforms,
- 14:10Speaker 1: and they're all like super young, and she says, I'll
- 14:13Speaker 1: let you handle the supplies. One of the guys is
- 14:16Speaker 1: like okay. A second guy says, Captain, I looked into
- 14:19Speaker 1: how many of the howitzer's in the rear Southern Combat
- 14:21Speaker 1: District eight were still functional, and you were right, it's
- 14:24Speaker 1: about twenty percent. Oh fuck. They really need to do
- 14:27Speaker 1: a better job of, you know, keeping their equipment in
- 14:29Speaker 1: good shape. Lena is like looking down at a paper
- 14:32Speaker 1: and she's like I thought, so she looks at the
- 14:34Speaker 1: guy and says, our attrition rate on the front lines.
- 14:37Speaker 1: But then she and everyone are distracted by these two
- 14:41Speaker 1: military girls running past them commenting about how it's snowing outside.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So Lena looks over out at the window and it
- 14:48Speaker 1: is snowing, and then she looks down and one of
- 14:52Speaker 1: the girls in the group says, winter's really here. Huh. Lena,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I thought maybe tapped her brooch on her jacket, but
- 14:59Speaker 1: I think she just putting her hand to her heart.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I'm not really sure, because all of a sudden there's
- 15:03Speaker 1: a beep, so I thought maybe was connected, but I
- 15:05Speaker 1: think maybe it was just weird timing. And we hear
- 15:08Speaker 1: Cyclops say, Cyclops to handler one, do you read. Lena's
- 15:12Speaker 1: eyes widened and she's like, yes, what is it. We
- 15:14Speaker 1: cut to Cyclops, who is in her druggernaut like in
- 15:18Speaker 1: the woods, looking out at like a mass of legion,
- 15:21Speaker 1: and she says, we found an enemy union on patrol.
- 15:24Speaker 1: We need your orders. Lena says, understood, and then to
- 15:28Speaker 1: the group, she's like keep it up. They all nodded her,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and she starts to walk off and she's like, Cyclops,
- 15:34Speaker 1: give me a report. We cut to her coming around
- 15:37Speaker 1: a different corner, looking super comically freaked out, but then nodding,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and we see that she is approaching a net's office
- 15:43Speaker 1: or she just walked into a net's office, and she says, sorry,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I'm late. Annette partially spins around in her chair and says,
- 15:52Speaker 1: you're pretty early. Lena gasps and kind of wincess and
- 15:55Speaker 1: folds her hands together like please, and then Net says,
- 15:59Speaker 1: get started with chat. I have no idea what that means.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Who is she chatting with a NET? But that's a
- 16:05Speaker 1: weird way to start a conversation with someone, so I'm
- 16:08Speaker 1: not really sure. Anyway, she smiles and she's like okay,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and she walks over to, you know, take a seat
- 16:15Speaker 1: at this table that has a couple of mugs on
- 16:17Speaker 1: it filled with I guess coffee and a power raid
- 16:20Speaker 1: device as well. We cut from those mugs to her
- 16:24Speaker 1: really nice looking teacup that she has in her room
- 16:28Speaker 1: on her desk, and she like lifts it up. And
- 16:31Speaker 1: it is evening now and it's still snowing outside, so
- 16:34Speaker 1: that's fun. Anyway, she says, understood, thank you for your report.
- 16:38Speaker 1: She takes a sup of tea. We hear Cyclops say yeah,
- 16:42Speaker 1: I'll be waiting for those Legion Force estimates. Queen Lena's like, yes,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I'll do what I can. She sets down her mug.
- 16:49Speaker 1: We cut from her mug to a dented metal mug
- 16:52Speaker 1: being set down on a wooden table, and we hear
- 16:55Speaker 1: Lena say, let's both work together and do our best.
- 16:58Speaker 1: We see Cyclops sitting on a couch next to this table,
- 17:02Speaker 1: obviously in barracks, but it's different barracks than we're used
- 17:05Speaker 1: to because it looks like there's a second floor, like
- 17:06Speaker 1: balcony and shit. So it looks much bigger than Spearheads barracks,
- 17:10Speaker 1: which makes sense because Spearheads Barracks were the end of
- 17:13Speaker 1: the line. Anyway, She's sitting on the couch with her
- 17:17Speaker 1: arms crossed, and she just kind of chuckles, and she says,
- 17:20Speaker 1: of course you're a handler. We're counting on you. Lena says,
- 17:23Speaker 1: you too. I need the info you give us from
- 17:25Speaker 1: the battlefield Cyclops. So yeah, this is so, so so
- 17:29Speaker 1: different than the way that she was interacting with Spearhead.
- 17:34Speaker 1: This seems like almost mutual, honestly, and it's weird that
- 17:37Speaker 1: Cyclops keeps calling her queen, but it seems like Cyclops
- 17:42Speaker 1: is looking at this as like a partnership, which is
- 17:44Speaker 1: cool anyway. We see outside of the base, which looks
- 17:48Speaker 1: different obviously, and it's still snowing. We cut two cyclops
- 17:52Speaker 1: reflection in her coffee cup and she chuckles and she's like,
- 17:56Speaker 1: it's okay if you call me by my name now right,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you aren't going to then why did you ask? Uh?
- 18:04Speaker 1: We see that Lena has taken notes of everyone's names
- 18:07Speaker 1: in her notebook, and Cyclop's name is she den Ida?
- 18:11Speaker 1: And Lena says that's because she looks over at the
- 18:15Speaker 1: window and we see that that clear box of all
- 18:17Speaker 1: the little drawn faces is there, like all the dead faces,
- 18:21Speaker 1: and she continues, it's my responsibility as a handler. Cyclop's
- 18:26Speaker 1: is like, you're always so formal and serious, you know.
- 18:29Speaker 1: We can see kind of in the background that that
- 18:32Speaker 1: you know, peg board that she used to keep all
- 18:34Speaker 1: of Spearhead's little faces on has lots of new little
- 18:37Speaker 1: faces on it. Lena half laughs and says, think what
- 18:41Speaker 1: you like. Cyclops smiles and kind of blushes lightly and
- 18:45Speaker 1: is like, thanks to you, though we might live a
- 18:47Speaker 1: long time, she stands, I appreciate it, but we might
- 18:51Speaker 1: be headed to Spearhead in a few months. Oh, I
- 18:54Speaker 1: guess that's not great. Lena, who was writing something in
- 18:57Speaker 1: her notebook like, stops super suddenly, and Cyclops continues, the
- 19:03Speaker 1: strongest guy I know finally got sent on special recon
- 19:05Speaker 1: a while back. Oh Shin. Lena slowly makes her hand
- 19:10Speaker 1: into a fist. Cyclops continues, he's probably dead now, the
- 19:15Speaker 1: headless reaper who always used blades. Okay, yeah, that was Shin.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And then we see that on the pegboard with all
- 19:25Speaker 1: the other new faces is like one little area where Shin, Onju, Corrina, Ryding,
- 19:30Speaker 1: and Theo's faces still are, so she like hasn't given
- 19:34Speaker 1: up on them, but she also didn't want to think
- 19:38Speaker 1: about them right now, and she's just kind of quiet,
- 19:41Speaker 1: and Cyclop says, which do you think will be first
- 19:45Speaker 1: us going there or the Legion coming here? Lena's like,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I don't know. She looks over at this map she
- 19:52Speaker 1: has on the wall and continues, But my job now
- 19:55Speaker 1: is to prepare for the large scale Legion offensive that
- 19:58Speaker 1: I think is coming, says, I already decided to help you,
- 20:02Speaker 1: but no preparations you make are going to change a thing.
- 20:05Speaker 1: And you're doing this regardless. We see that someone is
- 20:08Speaker 1: shooting Pool in the barracks and you know, like the
- 20:12Speaker 1: white ball. I don't know what ball that is. Oh,
- 20:14Speaker 1: it's like the cubeball or something. I know nothing about.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Pool stops right before it goes into the pockets and
- 20:21Speaker 1: Lena says, I'm doing it regardless. Cyclops smiles. Lena continues,
- 20:26Speaker 1: but Cyclops, don't forget your reports on patrol. Cyclops is
- 20:31Speaker 1: still smiling, but she looks not excited. She says Roger
- 20:36Speaker 1: and cuts the connection. We cut back to Lena holding
- 20:40Speaker 1: her pig picture and the polaroid that's Phido took Spearhead,
- 20:45Speaker 1: and she thinks they told me to survive. Anyway. We
- 20:49Speaker 1: see that the cat is on her bed. Yeay, she
- 20:51Speaker 1: really did take it, and it is keeping it, and
- 20:54Speaker 1: the scene kind of cuts to morning and she's putting
- 20:56Speaker 1: on her uniform and she puts the polaroid in like
- 20:59Speaker 1: a little pocket in her jacket, and she thinks they
- 21:02Speaker 1: believed in me and told me to fight and survive.
- 21:05Speaker 1: She salutes at the window like she's done in the past.
- 21:09Speaker 1: But I don't think it's to the flowers. I think
- 21:10Speaker 1: it's to those little dead faces in the box. And
- 21:13Speaker 1: she turns to the cat, who is now sitting on
- 21:16Speaker 1: the floor next to an empty food bowl, and it
- 21:19Speaker 1: yaws at her and we see the bowl. Says TEPI,
- 21:21Speaker 1: So I guess that's the cat's name. I think remark
- 21:24Speaker 1: was better, but whatever. Lena smiles at it and thinks
- 21:28Speaker 1: to live up to the hopes of those who are
- 21:30Speaker 1: no longer with us, She walks forward towards the camera.
- 21:34Speaker 1: We get the episode title card, episode twelve. Welcome now
- 21:38Speaker 1: to something entirely different. We cut to remember in episode
- 21:42Speaker 1: eleven when we just saw Shin's head in his neck
- 21:44Speaker 1: and I was like, is that blood next to him?
- 21:46Speaker 1: What is that? Is that a shadow? When I was
- 21:47Speaker 1: freaking out? We see that again, just like I wanted,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and we hear Ray say Shin. We cut to that
- 21:55Speaker 1: white place and Ray is carrying Shin over his shoulder
- 22:00Speaker 1: and he's still wearing that suit of armor and cape,
- 22:02Speaker 1: and Shin is little by the way. At this point though,
- 22:05Speaker 1: Shin kind of leans back so we can look at him,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and Ray smiles, and Shin smiles so widely and genuinely
- 22:14Speaker 1: at him. Ray lifts Shin up and kind of swings
- 22:17Speaker 1: him around and then puts him down on the floor
- 22:20Speaker 1: and kind of pats his head and says, this is
- 22:23Speaker 1: as far as I can go. What he stands you
- 22:27Speaker 1: can go the rest of the way by yourself, right,
- 22:30Speaker 1: oh oh. Shin looks up at him, just totally confused,
- 22:35Speaker 1: kind of like I am, and Ray says, you've got
- 22:38Speaker 1: your comrades going with you. He smiles but also looks
- 22:43Speaker 1: a little hurt, and then we kind of cut back
- 22:47Speaker 1: to Shin, who is now at his current age, just
- 22:50Speaker 1: looking so hurt and confused, and Ray says, you've really
- 22:55Speaker 1: grown up too. Shin is just staring at him, like
- 22:59Speaker 1: what what is happening? And Ray says, don't let me
- 23:03Speaker 1: keep you a prisoner. Shin kind of leans forward and
- 23:07Speaker 1: says something that's totally inaudible, and Ray continues, you can
- 23:11Speaker 1: forget about me. He turns and starts to walk away,
- 23:14Speaker 1: and he's passing his dead legion in the background, and
- 23:18Speaker 1: Shin shakes his head no and starts to follow him,
- 23:21Speaker 1: and Ray stops walking but doesn't turn back and says, oh, no,
- 23:26Speaker 1: I want you to remember me just once in a while.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Shin stops and we see that somehow he's gotten even
- 23:34Speaker 1: further from Ray, and Ray says, live free and be happy.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Shin starts to run again, but he is not moving
- 23:41Speaker 1: at all, and he's clearly calling out, but we can't
- 23:44Speaker 1: hear what he's saying. And Ray says and once in
- 23:49Speaker 1: a while, you know, just once in a while, he
- 23:52Speaker 1: turns back and says, be well, and please be happy.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Shin is panicking and just getting further and further away
- 24:00Speaker 1: as he runs where he turns back and begins to
- 24:04Speaker 1: walk away again, and Shin reaches out for him as
- 24:07Speaker 1: he disappears, and he would finally hear him say brother.
- 24:11Speaker 1: And then there's this piece of shrapnel or something I
- 24:13Speaker 1: don't really know, but like it is coming I guess
- 24:16Speaker 1: at him or at us, and he just hits the
- 24:18Speaker 1: camera and everything goes black for a second. The black
- 24:21Speaker 1: is replaced by first person perspective of someone's eyes opening
- 24:25Speaker 1: and looking up at what I think is a ceiling
- 24:27Speaker 1: with like one of those long rectangular lights. It's a
- 24:30Speaker 1: kind of light I don't remember what it's called, you know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: the kind you'd see an office or something. Usually they
- 24:35Speaker 1: have the big long tubes inside them that buzz halogen
- 24:40Speaker 1: halogen lights. Nope, sorry, it was fluorescent lights. Michelle. Good
- 24:44Speaker 1: try though we are now out of first person perspective,
- 24:47Speaker 1: and we see Shin's head and neck and that's really
- 24:52Speaker 1: all we gets, and there's a lot of beeping in
- 24:54Speaker 1: the background, so I hope that this is a hospital
- 24:57Speaker 1: that would be the best case scenario. Alive. His eyes
- 25:01Speaker 1: are open, remember, so he's definitely alive, but he looks
- 25:05Speaker 1: really out of it, probably because he just woke up
- 25:08Speaker 1: from having a dream about Ray and it was really
- 25:10Speaker 1: sad and he thought he was gonna die and he
- 25:12Speaker 1: didn't die, maybe, And then we go back into first
- 25:15Speaker 1: person perspective as his gaze shifts downwards, so we're seeing
- 25:19Speaker 1: like the walls of the room and there's like a
- 25:21Speaker 1: window and like a door and shit, and it's super
- 25:24Speaker 1: white everywhere, and he's still laying down, but he raises
- 25:28Speaker 1: his hands up and we see that he does actually
- 25:31Speaker 1: have hands, which is a big deal because I was afraid,
- 25:34Speaker 1: and he struggles to kind of bring them to his
- 25:36Speaker 1: face and looks super confused that he has hands, aren't
- 25:42Speaker 1: we both? And then there's a buzz and there are
- 25:47Speaker 1: four like totally suited up, like with hoods and you know,
- 25:51Speaker 1: full hasmat gear, standing on the other side of the window.
- 25:56Speaker 1: One of them waves to him and then they're like
- 26:00Speaker 1: another buzz and we see the mechanisms of the door unlock,
- 26:04Speaker 1: and one of the figures like goes to open it,
- 26:06Speaker 1: and the other ones are like miming like no, no, no,
- 26:09Speaker 1: please don't do that, but we can't hear them, and
- 26:12Speaker 1: the first figure says, I know, I just want to
- 26:15Speaker 1: have a little chat. He walks into the room and
- 26:18Speaker 1: over to Shin, and we can kind of see the
- 26:20Speaker 1: vague outline of a face inside his has Matt's suits,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and he says, you're awake, huh hello? He leans down,
- 26:29Speaker 1: will you tell me your name? Shin just kind of
- 26:31Speaker 1: stares at him like he doesn't have any idea what's
- 26:34Speaker 1: even happening at all, and the figure continues, Oh, oh,
- 26:38Speaker 1: the generals were really worried, so they made me wear
- 26:41Speaker 1: this biohazard suit. He starts taking it off, and the
- 26:44Speaker 1: figures at the window outside are like hitting on the
- 26:46Speaker 1: window and shaking their heads no, and he continues, but
- 26:50Speaker 1: it's rude to be wearing this, isn't it. He takes
- 26:53Speaker 1: it off in sighs, and we see that he is
- 26:54Speaker 1: this kind of like middle aged or like older middle age,
- 26:57Speaker 1: and he's got gray hair with like a white pet
- 27:00Speaker 1: in the front and like brown eyes. He's wearing glasses
- 27:03Speaker 1: and he has a mustache, and he says, my name
- 27:06Speaker 1: is Ernst, and you Shin doesn't say anything for a second,
- 27:10Speaker 1: and he says, shine knows Eni. Ernst smiles and spreads
- 27:15Speaker 1: his arms really wide and says, welcome to the Federacy
- 27:18Speaker 1: of Jiod Oh Giod like Giardia Jiad. Shin lifts his
- 27:24Speaker 1: head slightly and says Giod exactly. Ernst is like, oh,
- 27:30Speaker 1: I should explain, we defeated the Jiad empire that created
- 27:34Speaker 1: the Legion and we changed it into a federal republic. Oh, okay,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I guess that makes sense actually, because they were going
- 27:39Speaker 1: into Giadi in territory, so if there was any Giod
- 27:45Speaker 1: people left, they should have hit them. Ernst kneels down
- 27:49Speaker 1: and like he puts his hand on the back of
- 27:51Speaker 1: his head and says, well, because of that, we're still
- 27:53Speaker 1: fighting the Legion, though we found you captured by the
- 27:56Speaker 1: Legion on the western front of the war. Shin's eyes
- 28:00Speaker 1: for a second as he remembers the rest of his
- 28:03Speaker 1: friends laying dead on the battlefield, and he tries to
- 28:06Speaker 1: like sit up, but he's clearly in pain, so he's
- 28:09Speaker 1: only like partially sitting up, and also there was like
- 28:12Speaker 1: a thing kind of over his chest, so I don't
- 28:14Speaker 1: think he can sit up all the way. And he's
- 28:15Speaker 1: like looking around and trying it up, and Ernest says, like, sorry, sorry,
- 28:20Speaker 1: of course you're worried, and he like gives a thumbs up,
- 28:23Speaker 1: and like lights come on in the room's next Stishin,
- 28:27Speaker 1: and we see that all of Spearhead is there in
- 28:29Speaker 1: like different rooms, standing and like looking at him, and
- 28:33Speaker 1: Shin turns and makes a really confused noise that I
- 28:36Speaker 1: would also make in this situation, and Ernst says, you
- 28:40Speaker 1: were sleeping, so we turned the windows opaque right in
- 28:42Speaker 1: smiles and Karna looks like she's gonna fucking cry, and
- 28:46Speaker 1: Shin looks back at Ern's like super confused still, and
- 28:49Speaker 1: Ernest says, neither you nor we entirely understand what happened.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Later when you remember, if you could, and a voice
- 28:56Speaker 1: cuts him off, is like, sir, that's enough. Ernst stands
- 28:59Speaker 1: and sorry, the scary lady's going to be mad at me,
- 29:02Speaker 1: so I'll be going. But remember this. You're the first
- 29:06Speaker 1: foreign visitors we've had since the nation's founding. We've been
- 29:09Speaker 1: too busy with the legion to put together customs procedures.
- 29:12Speaker 1: All the spearhead is kind of looking at Ernest distrustfully,
- 29:15Speaker 1: and he continues, but don't worry, We're not going to
- 29:18Speaker 1: harm you. I'm Ernest Zimmerman, provisional President of the GIOAD Federacy. Oh,
- 29:23Speaker 1: he's the president. I'm gonna just pause here because I
- 29:26Speaker 1: wanted to talk about some things from last week that
- 29:28Speaker 1: I did that I wanted to apologize for. So I'm
- 29:31Speaker 1: sorry that I sold it so hard that everybody died
- 29:34Speaker 1: last week, especially Shin. But when I first watched episode eleven,
- 29:38Speaker 1: I just assumed that Shinn died because there were two
- 29:41Speaker 1: ways you could read that scene. Either the scribbles over
- 29:44Speaker 1: his head were because of censorship, which is what I
- 29:48Speaker 1: thought it was. I thought they couldn't show Shin's decapitated head,
- 29:52Speaker 1: or they were kind of like a is it there
- 29:55Speaker 1: or isn't there? Find out in the next episode. And
- 29:57Speaker 1: I didn't even consider that when I watched it the
- 29:59Speaker 1: first time. I just that's it. That's the end, and
- 30:02Speaker 1: now we're gonna start over with like a whole new
- 30:04Speaker 1: group of you know, eighty six people. And I was like,
- 30:07Speaker 1: not happy about that because I like Lena a lot,
- 30:11Speaker 1: but I felt like I didn't want Spearhead to just
- 30:15Speaker 1: be martyred, Like I wanted them to really escape and
- 30:19Speaker 1: to do the thing where like they got away but
- 30:22Speaker 1: then they just died after a bunch of time living
- 30:26Speaker 1: out in the wilderness. Just made me like really sad
- 30:29Speaker 1: and like, I mean, you could look at it as
- 30:32Speaker 1: like kind of poetic or whatever the fuck, but it
- 30:34Speaker 1: just seemed mean, really mean spirited, honestly. So I was
- 30:38Speaker 1: really happy that they weren't dead. But I was really
- 30:40Speaker 1: convinced last episode when I first watched it, that that
- 30:42Speaker 1: was it, and I was thinking about it earlier today
- 30:45Speaker 1: or last night or something, and I really think artistically,
- 30:49Speaker 1: what I would have liked to see or direction wise,
- 30:52Speaker 1: is instead of having Shin's head be a big, you know,
- 30:55Speaker 1: red scribble, it would have been cool if his head
- 30:59Speaker 1: was just totally out of frame. So when we dropped
- 31:01Speaker 1: down into black, you just saw his torso and you know, legs,
- 31:06Speaker 1: and his head was just cut off out of frame,
- 31:08Speaker 1: so you really just didn't know why that was happening,
- 31:13Speaker 1: instead of the scribbles, obviously, because really the scribbles just
- 31:16Speaker 1: made me think he was dead. And doing it the
- 31:19Speaker 1: other way, I would have been confused, which is I
- 31:22Speaker 1: think what we were supposed to be confused. But anyway,
- 31:25Speaker 1: I'm happy that they're not dead. Sorry for making you
- 31:27Speaker 1: think that they were dead in the last episode. It
- 31:30Speaker 1: was hard to hold that together. Anyway, they're hanging out
- 31:33Speaker 1: with the Giad Februaracy, which seems cool so far, I guess,
- 31:38Speaker 1: So let's get back into it. We cut to Ernst
- 31:42Speaker 1: and some other people that we don't know walking down
- 31:44Speaker 1: a hall with super ominous music playing. By the way
- 31:47Speaker 1: great and Ernest says, what is our analysis show? A
- 31:51Speaker 1: guy says, it's safe to say that they aren't agents
- 31:54Speaker 1: of sand Magnolia or any other country. We see like
- 31:57Speaker 1: a big white like giant housey room with like little
- 32:01Speaker 1: white rooms inside of it, and like a white hallway thing,
- 32:04Speaker 1: which is I think where they're keeping Spearhead in like
- 32:07Speaker 1: these individual little white pod things or something with the hallway,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I don't know. And also then we see some folks
- 32:14Speaker 1: like standing over Shin, you know, taking care of him,
- 32:16Speaker 1: I guess. And we hear Ernest say and the odds
- 32:19Speaker 1: that they're like a new type of legion or perhaps
- 32:21Speaker 1: a carrier of a legion bioweapon. The rest of Spearhead
- 32:24Speaker 1: is kind of looking on at Shin and whoever's doing
- 32:28Speaker 1: stuff with him, and they do not look happy. And
- 32:30Speaker 1: that guy says, our tests and the scans we did
- 32:33Speaker 1: after they were brought in don't show anything irregular, ern says.
- 32:36Speaker 1: And the things they had with them, we see like
- 32:40Speaker 1: a destroyed looking legion in a room and like people
- 32:42Speaker 1: are looking at it and stuff, and that guy says
- 32:45Speaker 1: it's a slightly older model, but definitely a dinosauria. Ern says, oh,
- 32:51Speaker 1: and the things on their ears. We cut back to
- 32:54Speaker 1: Shin as someone is taking a bandage off his ear,
- 32:56Speaker 1: and we see like this red area where the power
- 33:00Speaker 1: it used to be. And I think it was like
- 33:01Speaker 1: a little dot, like maybe it had been implanted into
- 33:04Speaker 1: his ear, you know, which obviously had been otherwise there
- 33:07Speaker 1: wouldn't be a bandage on it. That kind of sucks.
- 33:09Speaker 1: And that guy says, a communication device, as they said,
- 33:13Speaker 1: it artificially recreates the mental links that a certain family
- 33:17Speaker 1: is capable of. Why do you know about Chin's family?
- 33:21Speaker 1: Are you talking about Chin's family? What? We see Shin
- 33:25Speaker 1: nodding along as someone is telling him something and Ernst
- 33:28Speaker 1: says revolutionary. Another guy is like, the safest thing for
- 33:32Speaker 1: the Federacy would be to eliminate them. Excuse me Ern's size.
- 33:36Speaker 1: That's not the response I wanted, Ernst. We see the
- 33:40Speaker 1: mechanisms of the door lock, and Shin is alone in
- 33:42Speaker 1: the room, laying down, and we hear right and say Shin.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Shin looks over and the gang is still like standing
- 33:49Speaker 1: against their windows, looking at him from all their rooms
- 33:52Speaker 1: and right, and it's like you were out for three
- 33:54Speaker 1: whole days, THEO says, seriously. Karina was bawling her eyes out,
- 34:00Speaker 1: blushes and makes like an X with her arms and
- 34:02Speaker 1: she's like, I was not Shin like smiles slightly, and
- 34:06Speaker 1: Anjie says, Shin, I know now it's not a good time.
- 34:10Speaker 1: She's smiling, but she's making a fist and it is shaking,
- 34:13Speaker 1: and she says, but be ready when you get better.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Chin makes a uncomfortable type noise, and THEO says, sorry,
- 34:23Speaker 1: but we all feel the same way. You ever pull
- 34:25Speaker 1: shit like that again, and I will kick your ass.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Sin's like, I didn't mean to die, and THEO cuts
- 34:31Speaker 1: him off. You're gonna make me mad even if you
- 34:33Speaker 1: didn't intend to die. You knew you would if you
- 34:36Speaker 1: fought alone. Shin looks away. THEO says, we've all thought
- 34:40Speaker 1: about it at least once. Sure, but that's why we
- 34:43Speaker 1: can't forgive it, because we understand it's cheating. Never do
- 34:48Speaker 1: that again. I love THEO. By the way, Karina is
- 34:52Speaker 1: starting to cry and she's like, I was so worried.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Shin stares at them and kind of exhales and says,
- 34:59Speaker 1: I'm sorry. They all kind of sigh. Right. It's like,
- 35:03Speaker 1: but who knows what'll happen. Now we see like a
- 35:06Speaker 1: security camera in the corner of the room and it
- 35:08Speaker 1: feeds into a different security camera, and we see Ernst
- 35:12Speaker 1: standing behind a window and four others are with him,
- 35:16Speaker 1: like in the background, and Ernst is like, so, yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 1: from now on, you're citizens of the federacy. Oh I
- 35:22Speaker 1: thought they might kill him. So we see that they're
- 35:25Speaker 1: actually in this hospital room now together, and Ernst is like,
- 35:28Speaker 1: I guess on an observation window like a floor up
- 35:31Speaker 1: or so, looks like they're getting ready to eat and stuff.
- 35:34Speaker 1: But they don't say anything to this. They're just looking
- 35:37Speaker 1: at him like what the fuck. And Ernest is just
- 35:40Speaker 1: like huh, right, and says we haven't seen you in
- 35:44Speaker 1: a month. And the first thing you say is so yeah.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Ernst is like yeah. THEO says you sure you want
- 35:51Speaker 1: to make a bunch of strange kids who got kicked
- 35:53Speaker 1: out of their old country into citizens. He sets a
- 35:57Speaker 1: tray of food down on his little tray area, and
- 36:01Speaker 1: it has like soup and like a meat thing that
- 36:03Speaker 1: maybe looks like meat loaf. Put some gravy on it,
- 36:06Speaker 1: and there's like broccoli and strawberries and mashed potatoes. Honestly,
- 36:10Speaker 1: they're food. When they were in spear had looked better.
- 36:13Speaker 1: But whatever. Anyway, he continues, wouldn't it be safer just
- 36:17Speaker 1: to kill us? Don't know? They know they already decided
- 36:21Speaker 1: not to. Don't make them think about it again. Ernst
- 36:24Speaker 1: is like, is that what you want? THEO glances back
- 36:29Speaker 1: and like kind of scowls, and chin says, what benefits
- 36:33Speaker 1: you get for saving us? Ernst's like, a society that
- 36:37Speaker 1: refuses to save children because there's no benefit is a
- 36:40Speaker 1: society that benefits no one. In the end, we see
- 36:44Speaker 1: that there are a bunch of toys and games laid
- 36:46Speaker 1: out for them on a table, which is super nice.
- 36:48Speaker 1: And he continues and if humanity can't survive except by
- 36:52Speaker 1: killing children because they're strange. Then humanity'd be better off dead. Okay,
- 36:59Speaker 1: maybe I like him. They're all just kind of staring
- 37:02Speaker 1: at him, trying to figure out if he's trustworthy, and
- 37:04Speaker 1: Ernest finally claps his hands together and says, anyway, I'll
- 37:08Speaker 1: be your guardian for a while, so rest a bit,
- 37:10Speaker 1: see the country and think about what you'll do. We
- 37:13Speaker 1: cut to Spearhead, you know, getting all set up with
- 37:16Speaker 1: like ties and dress shirts, and then leaving the hospital
- 37:19Speaker 1: room and the lights going off. Next it looks like
- 37:23Speaker 1: we're at an airport or something like there's a big
- 37:25Speaker 1: air traffic control tower and like a building and stuff
- 37:28Speaker 1: and a runway and it's snowing, and apparently this is
- 37:32Speaker 1: sanct gly Keen Base, sank Gliking Base, maybe I don't know.
- 37:38Speaker 1: We see a bunch of kind of military looking people
- 37:41Speaker 1: sitting inside, and it is December second, twenty one, forty eight,
- 37:45Speaker 1: so this is when we last saw Lena, by the way,
- 37:49Speaker 1: so I guess it's snowing everywhere. And there's a guy
- 37:52Speaker 1: with an eyepatch and he says, those war machines we
- 37:55Speaker 1: recovered the Juggernauts. Their capabilities aside, what was done with
- 37:59Speaker 1: them is amazing. I'd love to hear more. A woman
- 38:02Speaker 1: with short blonde hair and violet eyes like looks over
- 38:05Speaker 1: at him and is like, hey, I'm first. We won't
- 38:08Speaker 1: let you have them. The eyepatch guy says, what, And
- 38:13Speaker 1: the blondes like high mobility combat data and people with
- 38:16Speaker 1: actual combat experienced against the data, they're perfect as operators
- 38:20Speaker 1: for my prototypes. Oh, we see that this group of
- 38:24Speaker 1: people is all standing at attention before Ernest, and like
- 38:27Speaker 1: several other people who are like seated on like couches
- 38:30Speaker 1: or whatever, we see some like big walking green mix outside,
- 38:35Speaker 1: and the blonde continues, they'd be wasted on those slow vanagander.
- 38:40Speaker 1: The eyepatch guy says, what did you say, spider woman.
- 38:44Speaker 1: The Blond's like, what did you say, beetle. Ernest is like,
- 38:49Speaker 1: you're free to talk to them, but I won't let
- 38:51Speaker 1: them be operators. We'd be no different from the republic. Yay.
- 38:55Speaker 1: The blonde's like, but they're all saying in their counseling
- 38:57Speaker 1: sessions that they want to go back to the battlefield, guys.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Ernest is like, that's because the battlefield is all they
- 39:04Speaker 1: know right now. He stands actions should be met with rewards.
- 39:08Speaker 1: If they fought for so long, they should be given peace.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Well fuck, okay. We cut to Spearhead, who is getting
- 39:17Speaker 1: off a plane, like walking down a staircase by a plane,
- 39:20Speaker 1: and Ernest continues, especially if their homeland refuses to do so.
- 39:25Speaker 1: The doors open and Spearhead is standing there wearing their
- 39:28Speaker 1: little suits with two army people behind them saluting. And
- 39:32Speaker 1: I think we're at Ernst's office now because there's a
- 39:35Speaker 1: desk and stuff, and he's standing in front of these
- 39:37Speaker 1: really large windows and he says, I want the federacy
- 39:41Speaker 1: to be just at least because his face falls. This
- 39:45Speaker 1: is the ideal of mankind. I don't know why that
- 39:49Speaker 1: was so scary. We cut two hands resting in someone's lap,
- 39:53Speaker 1: and we see that it is Shin's hands, and he
- 39:56Speaker 1: and Spearhead and Ernst are all in some kind of
- 39:58Speaker 1: vehicle or car whatever, driving somewhere. Then Karina looks over
- 40:03Speaker 1: at something and we see that there are like curtains
- 40:06Speaker 1: on the windows, but there's like a little gap between them,
- 40:09Speaker 1: and she's looking outside at the scenery and it looks
- 40:12Speaker 1: like they're in like a town or something, and there's
- 40:13Speaker 1: like shops that they're passing and like people on the street.
- 40:16Speaker 1: She pulls the curtains open more and gasps because they
- 40:20Speaker 1: are passing like a lively coffee shop and donut shop.
- 40:24Speaker 1: And there's like a man with a kid on his
- 40:26Speaker 1: shoulders and a woman like watching them happily, and lots
- 40:31Speaker 1: of other people too, and almost none of them are Alba.
- 40:34Speaker 1: It's just like an integrated society. Wow. Rydan and THEO
- 40:38Speaker 1: have joined her at the window, and also I should
- 40:40Speaker 1: mention that it is still snowing and it's dusk. They
- 40:43Speaker 1: then hear some shouting and look over and we hear
- 40:46Speaker 1: a voice say, let's save our pitiful comrades, and a
- 40:49Speaker 1: crowd repeats let's save them. So it looks like there's
- 40:52Speaker 1: this little like park in a lot, and there's a
- 40:55Speaker 1: crowd of people with some people standing on a stage
- 40:57Speaker 1: with megaphones, and there's this sign over this kind of
- 41:02Speaker 1: rally thing that says save the eighty six, Oh okay,
- 41:07Speaker 1: And the guy with the megaphone says the eighty six
- 41:09Speaker 1: are victims, and the crowd says victims, and the chanting continues,
- 41:14Speaker 1: with those phrases being repeated over and over again. I
- 41:18Speaker 1: don't think that they know this, but eighty six is
- 41:20Speaker 1: a derogatory term and they shouldn't be using it. But whatever. Anyway,
- 41:23Speaker 1: Ernest says, they were all happy that you were saved
- 41:26Speaker 1: because we learned that there were surviving countries besides our own.
- 41:28Speaker 1: But when they learned how you were treated, they became
- 41:31Speaker 1: overcome with the desire to save you and your comrades.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Aw one of them, we can't see who closes the curtains.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Next we see them all standing out by the street
- 41:40Speaker 1: as the car drives away, and Ernst is like, this
- 41:44Speaker 1: is my house, but from now on it's your home.
- 41:47Speaker 1: It's a very large, stately colonial house with like a
- 41:51Speaker 1: you know, a really small front porch that only goes
- 41:55Speaker 1: up one story. You know the deal. It's maybe red,
- 41:59Speaker 1: but because it's dusk, I can't really tell what the
- 42:02Speaker 1: color is supposed to be. Like, it looks pink, but
- 42:04Speaker 1: I'm thinking red, you know. She looks up at the
- 42:07Speaker 1: door and sees a little girl with brown hair peeking
- 42:10Speaker 1: out from behind it, and she gasps and shuts it.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Ernst walks up the steps and says, welcome, yay. Title drop.
- 42:18Speaker 1: As he's saying that, we hear the girl inside say hurry,
- 42:22Speaker 1: push that desk. We need to hurry. Ernst starts to sweat,
- 42:26Speaker 1: and then we hear this like really huge crash, and
- 42:28Speaker 1: the girl screams and everyone's just standing there like what
- 42:31Speaker 1: the hell is happening. We cut inside the doors as
- 42:36Speaker 1: the gang is staring at the girl, who is too
- 42:40Speaker 1: close and facing away from the camera so we can't
- 42:43Speaker 1: see what she looks like, and she says, welcome, poor
- 42:46Speaker 1: souls who are banished from your country. She smirks and
- 42:49Speaker 1: puts her hands on her hips. She looks like she's
- 42:52Speaker 1: maybe in her early teens or something like maybe she's
- 42:55Speaker 1: twelve or ten. I don't really know how to judge this.
- 42:59Speaker 1: She looks kind of beat up from I guess whatever
- 43:01Speaker 1: just fell on her. And she has you know, long
- 43:04Speaker 1: brown hair and red eyes. And I'm gonna tell you
- 43:08Speaker 1: right now, this is the same girl from the last episode,
- 43:11Speaker 1: the Princess in like that vision that Chin had. Fuck Anyway,
- 43:17Speaker 1: we get more of the scene now, and we see
- 43:19Speaker 1: that the girl is standing on a table okay, and
- 43:24Speaker 1: she has lights set up so they're shining on spearhead
- 43:28Speaker 1: and Earnst this kind of standing between them with his
- 43:30Speaker 1: head and his hands, and the girl continues, great chiod
- 43:35Speaker 1: welcomes you with pity and compassion. We don't expect any
- 43:38Speaker 1: recompense from lowborns like you, she points, So your thanks
- 43:42Speaker 1: are enough. They especially Shin turn around like what is
- 43:47Speaker 1: she pointing at? And the girl's like, hey, red eyes.
- 43:50Speaker 1: She stamps her foot. Why are you looking away? Sin's like,
- 43:54Speaker 1: I thought there might be someone else here. She like
- 43:57Speaker 1: stomps repeatedly on the table, and she says, you shut
- 44:00Speaker 1: the door. Are you making fun of me? Sin's like yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 1: The girl squeals and she turns away, and she says
- 44:10Speaker 1: this is the problem with lowborn people from the Republic.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Right In looks over at Ernst, who is just dying
- 44:17Speaker 1: of shame and right and says, is this your daughter?
- 44:21Speaker 1: I hate to say it, but you need to discipline
- 44:24Speaker 1: her better. Ernest says like, oh no, she's not my daughter.
- 44:28Speaker 1: The girl turns back around and she's like, do you
- 44:30Speaker 1: really think I'm the daughter of this lowly bureaucrat? I'm
- 44:34Speaker 1: and Ernst raises his hand to stop her and says
- 44:37Speaker 1: Frederica Rosenfort. Fredrika looks confused, and Ernest says, something's happened.
- 44:46Speaker 1: So she's staying here. Frederica looks away, maybe upset, but
- 44:51Speaker 1: then we cut to her shoving tons of cookies in
- 44:54Speaker 1: her mouth, like I guess they're like little cookies. So
- 44:57Speaker 1: she just keeps taking cookies like one after the other
- 45:01Speaker 1: and just throwing them into her mouth. And everyone else
- 45:05Speaker 1: except for Ernst, is sitting on a couch just like
- 45:08Speaker 1: totally confused. And Ernst is sitting with Fredrika like a
- 45:11Speaker 1: little table, and Ernest says, it's annoying to explain to everyone,
- 45:15Speaker 1: so I just have her down on paper as my daughter.
- 45:18Speaker 1: A maid kind of comes in and sets down some
- 45:20Speaker 1: beverages and cookies on the coffee table for Spearhead, and
- 45:24Speaker 1: Ernest continues, but regardless, you'll be living together for a while,
- 45:28Speaker 1: so i'd appreciate you think of her as a slightly
- 45:30Speaker 1: naive little sister. Ah. Frederica drinks an entire glass of lemonade,
- 45:35Speaker 1: and she's like ah, ride and chuckles and says little sister. Huh.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Ernst is like, oh, and on paper, I've adopted you,
- 45:43Speaker 1: so you can call me dad if you want. He
- 45:45Speaker 1: smiles widely, but this is only met with disdain from
- 45:48Speaker 1: all of Spearhead, especially Korena and Ryden, who look like
- 45:51Speaker 1: they want to kill him, and they're just staring at
- 45:55Speaker 1: him as Frederica continues to devour cookies, except she's finished hers,
- 45:59Speaker 1: so she's moved moved to the coffee table now, and
- 46:01Speaker 1: Earn's just like, I'm joking. Yeah, I don't think so, dude.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Shin stares at Frederica as she eats, and Fredrika notices
- 46:10Speaker 1: this and looks up at him and says, what's that
- 46:13Speaker 1: on your neck? Fuck you? Fredrika. Shin gives her the
- 46:18Speaker 1: dirtiest look I've ever seen. She didn't give anyone because
- 46:21Speaker 1: he doesn't tend to do that. And Ernst stands and
- 46:24Speaker 1: is like, Frederica, no, I told you their situation. You
- 46:28Speaker 1: have wounds. You don't want touch it either. Oh. Fredrika
- 46:31Speaker 1: looks pissed, and she kind of goes hmmm and looks away,
- 46:35Speaker 1: and she stands and says, I'm the cute little sister
- 46:38Speaker 1: you've been given to heal your wounds. She's kind of
- 46:40Speaker 1: walking over towards Shin the family and home and happiness
- 46:44Speaker 1: you've lost the noble and compassionate Vetteracy is willing to
- 46:47Speaker 1: give you. Be very nice to me. Big brothers and sisters. Yeah,
- 46:52Speaker 1: in case you're not getting this, she does not talk
- 46:55Speaker 1: like a child. She sounds like a child, like she's
- 46:58Speaker 1: got a little tiny voice, but she is talking like
- 47:01Speaker 1: she is royalty. Anyway, Shin grabs her and starts like
- 47:07Speaker 1: furiously rubbing her head and she squeals, and then we
- 47:11Speaker 1: cut to her like burying her face in the maid's
- 47:13Speaker 1: stomach and like crying and saying, Teresa, they're so mean.
- 47:18Speaker 1: And Teresa's like, yeah, I get it, Frederica. Everything that
- 47:22Speaker 1: just happened was your own fault. Good. Frederica, who is
- 47:27Speaker 1: totally muffled by Teresa's dress, says, that's not What's what?
- 47:32Speaker 1: And Teresa says, I'm Teresa. I'll be taking care of you.
- 47:36Speaker 1: She bows to them. She is blonde hair and blue eyes,
- 47:38Speaker 1: and she's kind of middle aged. By the way. Spearhead
- 47:40Speaker 1: looks so fucking confused though, and Teresa says, welcome home everyone.
- 47:46Speaker 1: We now see the dining room and we kind of
- 47:49Speaker 1: have this above shot and Fredrika is at the table
- 47:52Speaker 1: and Teresa it looks like she's cleaning up from dinner,
- 47:55Speaker 1: and Frederica says, I'm bored. They want to sleep so early.
- 48:00Speaker 1: We cut to Shin laying in bed in a darkened room,
- 48:02Speaker 1: clearly not sleeping, and in the foreground of the shot
- 48:06Speaker 1: is his like torn up bandana which he still has,
- 48:09Speaker 1: which is now he might want to wear again because
- 48:12Speaker 1: apparently people are gonna come in on a scar And
- 48:16Speaker 1: at this point the credits start rolling and we hear
- 48:18Speaker 1: someone knocking his door. He looks over and then he
- 48:21Speaker 1: goes to open it and it is Ernest, and Ernest says, sorry,
- 48:25Speaker 1: I know you're tired. I was holding onto this. It
- 48:28Speaker 1: was in your war machine. We don't see what he
- 48:31Speaker 1: has in his hand, but Shin does, and his eyes
- 48:34Speaker 1: widen and he gasps, and Ernt says, is it yours.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Shin doesn't say anything, and it's just like after a
- 48:44Speaker 1: long time, Shin just says yes. We go back to
- 48:48Speaker 1: Teresa pouring coffee in the dining room and Frederica is
- 48:52Speaker 1: still there. Ernst walks in and says, thank you, Teresa.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Teresa's like not at all, sir. Kids that age eat
- 48:59Speaker 1: a lot. It's fun to cook for them. Ernest sits
- 49:02Speaker 1: down at the head of the table next to Frederica,
- 49:05Speaker 1: who is drawing, and says, I'm sorry. This will likely
- 49:09Speaker 1: be difficult, Teresa says, not at all. Again, serving you
- 49:13Speaker 1: as my job. She puts a cup of coffee down
- 49:16Speaker 1: in front of him. Ernest looks down at the coffee,
- 49:19Speaker 1: concerned and says, do you think it's a stupid way
- 49:22Speaker 1: of trying to compensate for things that I'm using them
- 49:26Speaker 1: as a replacement? Oh? Fuck yeah. I assume the people
- 49:30Speaker 1: he loved in his life are dead. Great Teresa, whose
- 49:33Speaker 1: reflection we're seeing in the cup of coffee, says no,
- 49:36Speaker 1: they could never be. That. Every person is their own,
- 49:39Speaker 1: irreplaceable individual. Frederica is like, but still, people try to
- 49:44Speaker 1: bury the past in whatever way they can. Ernest picks
- 49:47Speaker 1: up his coffee. Whom are you talking to? Empress Frederica's
- 49:53Speaker 1: eyes narrow. We see that she has been drawing herself
- 49:59Speaker 1: standing with you're head looking happy. She is real messed up.
- 50:06Speaker 1: We cut back to Shin, who is sitting at the
- 50:08Speaker 1: edge of his bed, still in the dark, staring down
- 50:12Speaker 1: at the object in his hands in just abject horror,
- 50:16Speaker 1: and we hear Fredrika say, Katy, it's the piece of
- 50:20Speaker 1: races Juggernaut, and then we go to the opening theme,
- 50:23Speaker 1: which is at the end this time. Yay, So the
- 50:27Speaker 1: opening theme is kil Kaisen by Amazarashi, and I like
- 50:33Speaker 1: this song, and I think this opening is fucking great,
- 50:36Speaker 1: better than the first one, one of my favorite openings
- 50:38Speaker 1: just in general. It's really good. We get some really
- 50:43Speaker 1: cool shots that are like the duality of this world,
- 50:47Speaker 1: where you have both like a beautiful city at the
- 50:50Speaker 1: top of the frame and like a destroyed one at
- 50:52Speaker 1: the bottom, and then like on the left side of
- 50:54Speaker 1: the frame you have someone's like dead hand lying on
- 50:58Speaker 1: the ground, and then on the right side hands pointing
- 51:02Speaker 1: up at fireworks, and then on the left side an explosion.
- 51:06Speaker 1: On the right side someone looking out a window at sunset,
- 51:09Speaker 1: drinking wine. And then we have this really fucking awesome
- 51:13Speaker 1: shot of all these people holding their heads with flowers
- 51:17Speaker 1: growing out of their necks. I love it. And then
- 51:20Speaker 1: they just explode, I mean, like there's an explosion behind
- 51:22Speaker 1: them and like the legion rush through. It's just really cool.
- 51:26Speaker 1: It didn't need to be this cool, because I kind
- 51:28Speaker 1: of feel like the first opening was fine. It could
- 51:30Speaker 1: have just been fine level opening. But I think this
- 51:33Speaker 1: is great. If you haven't seen it, go look at it.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I guess I don't know. You probably saw it because
- 51:38Speaker 1: you watch in this episode, right, also noticeable in the opening,
- 51:41Speaker 1: and there's some new characters. We focus a lot on Shin,
- 51:44Speaker 1: we see Lena's back a lot. There's some train tracks
- 51:47Speaker 1: which we really love showing. And then there's like someone
- 51:51Speaker 1: touching a like a stone memorial with Kaye's name on it,
- 51:55Speaker 1: which is pretty fucking cool because they don't have memorials
- 51:59Speaker 1: are great, So I don't know what that means. That's over,
- 52:03Speaker 1: and then we get the next episode title card, which
- 52:05Speaker 1: is it's too late, which doesn't sound promising honestly, and
- 52:10Speaker 1: that's the end of the episode. Yeay. Closing thoughts, there's
- 52:14Speaker 1: not a lot I want to say here because I
- 52:15Speaker 1: kind of said it throughout the episode, but really interesting
- 52:18Speaker 1: start to the second half of the first season, with
- 52:22Speaker 1: you know, like the front half being the repeat of
- 52:27Speaker 1: the first episode with a very significant difference in Lena's
- 52:31Speaker 1: demeanor and who she's working with, and really making me
- 52:34Speaker 1: think that we were never gonna see the old Spearhead
- 52:37Speaker 1: again and that we were just going to do this
- 52:40Speaker 1: new group with Cyclops, which would have sucked. Honestly, I
- 52:43Speaker 1: don't know what I would have done. I mean, it
- 52:45Speaker 1: would have been fine, but I like don't want a
- 52:47Speaker 1: show that like we just constantly go through characters and
- 52:50Speaker 1: kill them off, Like I don't want to your eternity. No, no,
- 52:54Speaker 1: I don't want Lena to be the only person who
- 52:55Speaker 1: lives and everyone around her constantly dies and we get
- 52:58Speaker 1: to like them and all that shit. No, Oh, not
- 53:00Speaker 1: my show, not what I want. So super happy to
- 53:03Speaker 1: see them alive. Yeah, I don't even know if there's
- 53:06Speaker 1: anything else. I hope everyone's gonna be okay. Are you
- 53:09Speaker 1: worried about Ernest? Are you worried that? He seems way
- 53:12Speaker 1: too nice sometimes? And sometimes I'm afraid of him because
- 53:17Speaker 1: maybe he's just doing all of this because it feels
- 53:19Speaker 1: like that's what he's supposed to do, like when he
- 53:21Speaker 1: was talking about like how the country was supposed to be,
- 53:23Speaker 1: but it didn't feel natural. Maybe he's dangerous, but he
- 53:27Speaker 1: is letting them live with them, and he's letting this
- 53:29Speaker 1: empress person the princess live with him too, even though
- 53:34Speaker 1: they ousted those people. So maybe he's a good guy,
- 53:37Speaker 1: or maybe he's just trying to compensate for the fact
- 53:40Speaker 1: that he probably all his family died, is what it
- 53:42Speaker 1: seems like. I don't know. I don't know what kind
- 53:44Speaker 1: of person he is. We're seeing very many sides of
- 53:46Speaker 1: him very quickly, and it's one of those things where like,
- 53:49Speaker 1: is this all real? Is some of it real? Is
- 53:52Speaker 1: he lying? Sometimes? So? I guess we'll see where that goes.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I mean, obviously I know, but you don't know, or
- 53:58Speaker 1: you do, and you think it's weird that I'm saying
- 54:01Speaker 1: I don't know, or you're saying I know. I don't
- 54:03Speaker 1: really know what you're doing because I can't see you
- 54:05Speaker 1: or hear you. I'm not even really sure you're there.
- 54:09Speaker 1: I could just be talking to no one, which would
- 54:11Speaker 1: be fine, I mean sad, but I deserve that probably,
- 54:15Speaker 1: So yeah, that's really all I got. I hope that
- 54:20Speaker 1: you're enjoying this. Okay. We got several episodes left, so
- 54:23Speaker 1: hopefully you're not like, oh my god, I fucking hate
- 54:26Speaker 1: all these characters and I don't care what happens to
- 54:29Speaker 1: them because that would make me very sad. But your
- 54:33Speaker 1: point is probably valid, and I respect you for it,
- 54:35Speaker 1: even if that's the way that you feel. So anyway,
- 54:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna go make some dinner, I guess, because it's
- 54:41Speaker 1: time for me to eat dinner. I guess, yay, And
- 54:46Speaker 1: go find my cat and make her dinner because it's
- 54:48Speaker 1: time for hurdle. Also eat dinner. And I hope you
- 54:51Speaker 1: have a really good whatever. Please please have a good whatever.
- 54:56Speaker 1: I'm begging you. I don't see you again the next week.
- 55:01Speaker 1: As long as we're still alive, both of us would
- 55:05Speaker 1: have to be alive for us to do this again,
- 55:08Speaker 1: so you need to stay alive too, and I will
- 55:11Speaker 1: also try to stay alive. But that was weird. Later
- 55:14Speaker 1: weeps
