- 0:00Speaker 1: God said, if you'd stop approaching me as if I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: a police officer about to arrest you when you go
- 0:07Speaker 1: over the speed limit and we could move beyond the
- 0:09Speaker 1: negativity to the positivity, if you get positive and get
- 0:13Speaker 1: this right, you won't break the law, not because I'm
- 0:17Speaker 1: going to arrest you, but because you so love me.
- 0:20Speaker 1: He said, I want you to stop focusing on what
- 0:23Speaker 1: you got wrong and get lost in what you get right.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I want you to love me. with all your heart,
- 0:31Speaker 1: all your mind, all your soul. Greetings in the name
- 0:42Speaker 1: of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I must explain
- 0:45Speaker 1: to you what I'm about to share with you. I
- 0:47Speaker 1: started teaching on something that you hardly hear anybody teaching
- 0:50Speaker 1: about in the church today. I don't know why. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: started teaching on love. And I'm going to share it
- 0:56Speaker 1: with you because it really transformed our church. I believe
- 0:59Speaker 1: it will transform your life, perhaps your marriage, your relationships,
- 1:03Speaker 1: your walk with God. This series is called The Love Letter.
- 1:07Speaker 1: As we go into the Word of God today, I
- 1:09Speaker 1: believe this word, this series, is absolutely going to be life-changing.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Are you ready? Let's talk about love. At least 50%
- 1:19Speaker 1: of the wars that have been fought in the world
- 1:21Speaker 1: have been fought by religious people. Over religion and how
- 1:27Speaker 1: they perceive God. Jesus received more persecution through religious people
- 1:32Speaker 1: than he did anybody else. In our text, he is
- 1:36Speaker 1: up under this kind of scrutiny as he is trying
- 1:40Speaker 1: to teach and minister. There comes in the crowd a lawyer.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And somebody said, uh-oh. And the lawyer begins to drill
- 1:52Speaker 1: him about his philosophy about theology. I'm going to teach something,
- 2:00Speaker 1: hopefully this morning, that if I can get it in you,
- 2:03Speaker 1: it's going to give you a whole different perspective, not
- 2:05Speaker 1: only on this scripture, but on the scriptures that come
- 2:07Speaker 1: after it, which are much more common. So the lawyer
- 2:11Speaker 1: says to him, you know, what are the laws? What
- 2:15Speaker 1: are the greatest laws? Jesus said, read it for yourself.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So he takes up the Torah and he starts reading it.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And he says, you know, that you love the Lord
- 2:22Speaker 1: thy God with all thy heart, thy mind, thy soul,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and all thy spirit. And that you love your neighbor
- 2:26Speaker 1: as yourself. He's absolutely right. Later in the scriptures you
- 2:29Speaker 1: will see where Jesus said these two are the greatest commandments.
- 2:32Speaker 1: They embody everything. Everything. Everything. Are comprised in two commandments.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Let's stop right there. Can I have your head this morning?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Got your head? Okay. Let's stop right there. Jesus says
- 2:45Speaker 1: that these two commandments encapsule all of the others. So
- 2:50Speaker 1: if we get these two right, we get credit for
- 2:53Speaker 1: the whole test. Now that's a pretty good deal. Now
- 2:59Speaker 1: you know you're getting ready for end of the year
- 3:02Speaker 1: exam and the teacher says, I got 175 questions. But
- 3:07Speaker 1: if you get these two right, you get the credit
- 3:09Speaker 1: for the 175. Is that a pretty good deal? You
- 3:13Speaker 1: backed up 12 payments on your house note. They're getting
- 3:15Speaker 1: ready to put the rest of the car, take the
- 3:17Speaker 1: house from you. They say, but if you make two payments,
- 3:20Speaker 1: you don't have to make the other 10. Is that
- 3:22Speaker 1: a pretty good deal? That's what is being said here.
- 3:26Speaker 1: If you get these two things right, everything else is
- 3:29Speaker 1: pretty cool. Not because I overlooked the others, but these
- 3:33Speaker 1: encapsule the premise through which all the others are talking about.
- 3:39Speaker 1: You with me? So what are they? We got to
- 3:41Speaker 1: get these two right. Tell somebody, we got to get
- 3:43Speaker 1: these two right. He says, number one, that you love
- 3:48Speaker 1: the Lord thy God. Wait a minute, wait a minute,
- 3:51Speaker 1: wait a minute. You mean after all these ceremonial washings
- 3:53Speaker 1: and cleansings and feasts of weeks and feasts of unleavened bread,
- 3:56Speaker 1: what I can wear and what I can't wear, what
- 3:59Speaker 1: I can go, how far I can travel on the
- 4:01Speaker 1: Sabbath day, what I can build, what I can buy,
- 4:04Speaker 1: what I can't covet of my neighbor. All of the descriptions,
- 4:07Speaker 1: the criterias that bring about righteousness in the scripture. And
- 4:11Speaker 1: the first most important thing to God is that you
- 4:15Speaker 1: love him. whether you washed your hands or not, or
- 4:21Speaker 1: whether you bowed prostrate or not, or whether you mixed
- 4:24Speaker 1: fabrics or not, or whether you did everything right or not,
- 4:27Speaker 1: God says above everything else, the most important thing to
- 4:31Speaker 1: me is that you love the Lord thy God with
- 4:33Speaker 1: all thy heart, not part of it, with all thy mind,
- 4:36Speaker 1: with all thy soul, with all thy understanding. That's cool.
- 4:39Speaker 1: That's something. I did not know that love was that important.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Nor are we often taught that love can be legislated.
- 4:56Speaker 1: God commands us to love him. He doesn't beat around
- 5:03Speaker 1: the bush. I wish I could do that. I command
- 5:06Speaker 1: you to love me. Wouldn't that be cool? Look at
- 5:09Speaker 1: somebody and say, I command you to love me. God says,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I command you. Wouldn't that fix some marriages? That would
- 5:17Speaker 1: fix some marriages right now. Wouldn't that solve some problems
- 5:20Speaker 1: in the house right now? Wouldn't that change parents and
- 5:24Speaker 1: children's relationship right now? Wouldn't that fix you and your
- 5:27Speaker 1: sister right now? If you could just command it. Wouldn't
- 5:30Speaker 1: you go to work Monday morning and walk in the
- 5:32Speaker 1: office and slam down your book and say, I command
- 5:35Speaker 1: you to love me. Wouldn't that be wonderful? That's what
- 5:39Speaker 1: God does. He commands us. But he's specific. He says,
- 5:42Speaker 1: with all your heart, with all your soul, with all
- 5:46Speaker 1: your mind, with all your understanding, I want you to
- 5:47Speaker 1: love me. He said, that's the most important thing. Well, Lord,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I worked over and I ran into the Sabbath. He said,
- 5:55Speaker 1: love me. That's the most important thing. Lord, I haven't
- 5:59Speaker 1: always done right. I've made some mistakes. I've had some sin.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I've had some weakness in my life. He said, look,
- 6:03Speaker 1: don't focus on what's wrong with you. In a world
- 6:08Speaker 1: of thou shalt nots, the priority is on a thou shalt. Oh,
- 6:15Speaker 1: y'all don't hear what I'm saying. Y'all not ready for
- 6:17Speaker 1: me today. Let me just go churchy and get out
- 6:19Speaker 1: of here. In a world full of thou shalt nots,
- 6:24Speaker 1: the priority is on a thou shalt. Because God says
- 6:28Speaker 1: if you get the shall right, I don't have to
- 6:30Speaker 1: worry about the shall nots. I'm slipping a Mickey in
- 6:36Speaker 1: on you right now. I'm feeding you intravenously. You don't
- 6:40Speaker 1: even understand it, but it's coming to you. God said,
- 6:43Speaker 1: if you'd stop approaching me as if I'm a police
- 6:46Speaker 1: officer about to arrest you when you go over the
- 6:50Speaker 1: speed limit and we could move beyond the negativity to
- 6:53Speaker 1: the positivity. If you get positive and get this right,
- 6:56Speaker 1: you won't break the law, not because I'm going to
- 7:00Speaker 1: arrest you, but because you so love me. He said,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I want you to stop focusing on what you got
- 7:06Speaker 1: wrong and get lost in what you get right. I
- 7:10Speaker 1: want you to love me with all your heart, all
- 7:13Speaker 1: your mind, all your soul. In other words, if God
- 7:19Speaker 1: were a woman, he would be saying to me, I
- 7:22Speaker 1: don't want you to focus on not cheating on me.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I want you to focus on loving me. I want
- 7:27Speaker 1: you to focus on loving me with all your heart,
- 7:29Speaker 1: mind and soul. Well, it sounds like she's just a
- 7:31Speaker 1: weak woman, but no, she's a really smart woman because
- 7:33Speaker 1: the woman knows that if you master loving me with
- 7:35Speaker 1: all your heart, mind, and soul, I don't have to
- 7:38Speaker 1: tell you not to cheat because you're going to get lost.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm just using these as metaphors, similes, comparisons to make
- 7:45Speaker 1: you understand it. Oh, God. So love becomes, epitomizes what
- 7:59Speaker 1: the commandments are lined out to talk about. He says,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I want the priority to be loving me with everything. Oh,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I wish I had time to really work this. Oh,
- 8:13Speaker 1: look at what a big command that is. Have you
- 8:16Speaker 1: ever loved anything, anyone, including God with your all? All
- 8:23Speaker 1: your heart, all your mind, all your soul, all your understanding.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You know how you've been loving people, but you got like...
- 8:35Speaker 1: I love you, but... You know, I love you to
- 8:39Speaker 1: a point, but if you push me... You know, you
- 8:47Speaker 1: got brakes. You know, in a car, you got brakes,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and then you got the emergency brakes. And I fall
- 8:54Speaker 1: in love, but I got breaks. And then I got
- 8:57Speaker 1: the emergency breaks where you really done got crazy and
- 9:00Speaker 1: I had to pull up. I'm the only one. Y'all
- 9:04Speaker 1: pray for me. I'm the only one in the whole
- 9:08Speaker 1: church that got emergency breaks. It may take me all
- 9:11Speaker 1: night to pull it up, but if you leave me
- 9:13Speaker 1: alone in a room by myself for 24 hours by morning,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I will pull the emergency break. You will know it
- 9:20Speaker 1: because you will smell burning rubber. That means you are
- 9:25Speaker 1: taking me somewhere that I don't want to go and
- 9:29Speaker 1: I've decided that the return is not as great as
- 9:33Speaker 1: the investment. I'm out. That's me. Pray for me. God says,
- 9:42Speaker 1: I challenge you to discover 100% love. Before you die,
- 9:51Speaker 1: to know what it is to give all Of yourself.
- 9:59Speaker 1: That right there is a sign. Can you imagine. What
- 10:05Speaker 1: we might discover. Through all. I give up everything to
- 10:13Speaker 1: follow you. You wouldn't give up a ham sandwich. At
- 10:16Speaker 1: 11 o'clock at night. But God says, I'm not going
- 10:20Speaker 1: to bother you. Love the Lord thy God with all
- 10:22Speaker 1: our heart and all our mind and all our soul.
- 10:25Speaker 1: And then he says, the second commandment is that you
- 10:29Speaker 1: love your neighbor as yourself.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Still to come on The Potter's Touch.
- 10:36Speaker 1: He legislates love. He commands you to love. Oh, I
- 10:42Speaker 1: could spend all day. If you command me to do something,
- 10:46Speaker 1: that means I can do it. Because it wouldn't be
- 10:50Speaker 1: fair for you to command me to do something I
- 10:52Speaker 1: can't do. I command you to be a white man
- 10:55Speaker 1: with blonde hair and blue eyes. Come on, Lord.
- 10:58Speaker 3: It's going to be big. Featuring Smokey Norfolk, John P.
- 11:04Speaker 1: King, and New Life.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Lecrae, and Vicki Winans.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Come see me at MegaFest Labor Day weekend. The truth
- 11:23Speaker 1: is gonna be there.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Free for all MegaFest attendees. Come celebrate with us. August
- 11:28Speaker 3: 30th at 1pm. Visit Mega-Fest.com.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You know the love of God constrains us. If you
- 11:39Speaker 1: don't have the love of God you'll go anywhere, do anything.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You can just be anybody. But when you have Love
- 11:45Speaker 1: for God and the love of God, it constrains us.
- 11:49Speaker 1: There's no way you can get out of it. Ultimately,
- 11:52Speaker 1: no matter what your moods or feelings or attitudes may be,
- 11:55Speaker 1: love will always ground you and pull you back in
- 11:57Speaker 1: the fold. So many people show their Christianity by how
- 12:00Speaker 1: they dance or shout or speak in tongues or lay
- 12:02Speaker 1: out on the floor. But if you do all of
- 12:05Speaker 1: that and have not love, Paul said you're nothing. I
- 12:09Speaker 1: think he's right. Love the Lord thy God with all
- 12:12Speaker 1: our heart and all our mind and all our soul.
- 12:15Speaker 1: And then he says, the second commandment is that you
- 12:19Speaker 1: love your neighbor as yourself. So I don't have to
- 12:24Speaker 1: say thou shalt not steal. Because if you love me
- 12:27Speaker 1: like you love you, you wouldn't steal from me because
- 12:30Speaker 1: you love me too much to treat me like you
- 12:33Speaker 1: treat me. Imagine how your personal relationships would change If
- 12:39Speaker 1: you love the people in your life like you love yourself.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Wouldn't that be amazing? If you were as forgiving of
- 12:54Speaker 1: them as you are of you. Isn't it funny how
- 12:59Speaker 1: people who need forgiveness don't give it? Isn't it funny.
- 13:08Speaker 1: How people can need you to understand their quirks, but
- 13:12Speaker 1: they are unwilling to understand yours? They want you to...
- 13:18Speaker 1: Isn't it funny how people who want tolerance don't tolerate you?
- 13:25Speaker 1: If you're going to ask me to tolerate you, then
- 13:29Speaker 1: demonstrate it by tolerating me. I can accept you being different,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but you can't seem to understand... The reality is we
- 13:42Speaker 1: always want to get more than we're willing to give.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So this second scripture obliterates selfishness. You can't be selfish
- 13:53Speaker 1: if you love your neighbor as you love yourself. You
- 14:01Speaker 1: can't do it. A lady said to, was talking about
- 14:05Speaker 1: my daughter's 20 some years old. And she said, oh,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you're old enough now to find out that your parents
- 14:11Speaker 1: aren't stupid. That hits you like in your 20s. Some
- 14:16Speaker 1: people it doesn't hit them until 40s. But if you're lucky,
- 14:18Speaker 1: it'll lay in about 20. You know, daddy didn't go
- 14:21Speaker 1: to work because he hated me. He was trying to
- 14:23Speaker 1: pay the rent. You know, mama wasn't wrong about that. Boy,
- 14:27Speaker 1: he is crazy. You start finding out that experience does
- 14:30Speaker 1: give you some sense. It takes a while. In your
- 14:33Speaker 1: teen years, you're almost supposed to be selfish. You have
- 14:36Speaker 1: to understand that because the teen is trying to separate
- 14:39Speaker 1: from the womb of parenthood and find out who they are.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And in the process of identifying who they are and
- 14:45Speaker 1: what they want to do, they inadvertently become selfish because
- 14:48Speaker 1: they're trying to find themselves. I got to be me.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I got to be me. You're going to let me
- 14:52Speaker 1: be myself. All that kind of stuff. I'm glad I'm
- 14:54Speaker 1: done with that. So maturity is supposed to make you
- 15:01Speaker 1: less selfish. But some people got stuck. And they never
- 15:10Speaker 1: love anybody nowhere close like you love yourself. I've said
- 15:16Speaker 1: this before and I'll say it again. It seems to
- 15:17Speaker 1: have impact. It's based on my perspectives in life. for
- 15:20Speaker 1: 35 years of ministering and counseling people, I have never
- 15:25Speaker 1: met a man who beat his wife and liked himself. Never.
- 15:33Speaker 1: In 30 some years. The Bible says love her as
- 15:38Speaker 1: your own body. But if you don't love you, then
- 15:41Speaker 1: it's easier to beat her Because you're really angry and
- 15:45Speaker 1: guilty about you. And so if you're going to break
- 15:49Speaker 1: through the bondage, you have to learn how to love yourself.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Because people who love themselves are much easier to love
- 15:56Speaker 1: and easier to be around than people who don't like them. Oh,
- 15:59Speaker 1: I don't have time to get lost in that. That's
- 16:01Speaker 1: not my point. You understand what I'm saying? When you
- 16:04Speaker 1: feel good about you, whatever. Come here for a minute.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Come here for a minute. Come on in, come on in,
- 16:09Speaker 1: come on in. Now, whatever's going on with me, whatever
- 16:13Speaker 1: cologne I got on, whether I'm sweaty, whatever's happening with me,
- 16:16Speaker 1: when you came into my circle, you got drawn into it.
- 16:20Speaker 1: If I'm swinging, you got drawn into a punch. If
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm loving, you got drawn into love. Whatever's up with me,
- 16:27Speaker 1: when you come into my circle, you become connected to it.
- 16:31Speaker 1: So if I was crazy before you walked up here...
- 16:38Speaker 1: You understand what I'm saying? Now, if I am a self-hater, guilty, complex, insecurity,
- 16:45Speaker 1: and you come up and get connected in that, and
- 16:47Speaker 1: now you are my body, the fight that I was
- 16:50Speaker 1: having with me, I now get to have on you.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So the healthiest people to love are people who love themselves.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So the second commandment, Jesus says, these are the two priorities.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Loving God and loving your neighbor as you love yourself. Wow. Now,
- 17:21Speaker 1: let's look at this. This is kind of, let me
- 17:24Speaker 1: be honest with you. I probably shouldn't be preaching this
- 17:26Speaker 1: morning because I'm really presenting an unfinished chair before you
- 17:30Speaker 1: because he's still talking to me about this, but I'm
- 17:32Speaker 1: going to let you eavesdrop on the conversation. Because how
- 17:40Speaker 1: this relates to the elephant room and everything else is
- 17:43Speaker 1: what are your priorities? What are the core values through
- 17:47Speaker 1: which you let people in? Or God in? Or anybody in?
- 17:51Speaker 1: Is it if you make a certain amount of money? Oh,
- 17:55Speaker 1: we can't fool with you. If you're a Democrat. If
- 17:58Speaker 1: you're a Republican. Who did you vote for? What do
- 18:04Speaker 1: you believe about the Godhead? How are you baptized? Do
- 18:07Speaker 1: you wear pants? See, we can examine people today. What
- 18:14Speaker 1: are your priorities? God says that you love the Lord
- 18:18Speaker 1: thy God with all thy heart and mind and that
- 18:20Speaker 1: you love thy neighbor as you love yourself. I want
- 18:24Speaker 1: to go deeper. He legislates love. He commands you to love. Oh,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I could spend all day. If you command me to
- 18:36Speaker 1: do something, That means I can do it. Because it
- 18:41Speaker 1: wouldn't be fair for you to command me to do
- 18:43Speaker 1: something I can't do. I command you to be a
- 18:46Speaker 1: white man with blonde hair and blue eyes. Come on, Lord.
- 18:51Speaker 1: If I had time, I'd tell you a joke. But
- 18:55Speaker 1: they might have to edit it. A little kid up
- 18:58Speaker 1: in the hill in West Virginia saw me. He hadn't
- 19:00Speaker 1: seen nobody in my color in his life. And he
- 19:03Speaker 1: looked at me and he said, mister. Mister, hi, mister.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I finally turned around. He said, are you like that
- 19:10Speaker 1: all over? I said, everywhere I could see and everywhere
- 19:17Speaker 1: I could get the mirror to point, it seems to
- 19:19Speaker 1: be a 100% total job. Okay, I'm back on track. Okay.
- 19:27Speaker 1: You take that home with you. That don't cost you nothing.
- 19:29Speaker 1: It's one of my little crazy little stories happened to
- 19:32Speaker 1: me when I was going along. If he commands me
- 19:35Speaker 1: to do it, it must be within my power to
- 19:39Speaker 1: accomplish it. Because it wouldn't be just to command me
- 19:43Speaker 1: to do something that I cannot do. So that means
- 19:47Speaker 1: that love is controllable. Wow, that opens up a whole
- 19:54Speaker 1: nother village over there. Because he commanded, he legislated love.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Love me. He said, this is how you love me.
- 20:00Speaker 1: What I like about God, God tells you how to
- 20:03Speaker 1: love him. No guessing. Most people want you to guess
- 20:06Speaker 1: how to love. God comes right up. Love me with everything.
- 20:09Speaker 1: All your heart, want all your mind, all your soul.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Ain't core about it. This is how I want you
- 20:13Speaker 1: to love me. He tells you straight up. And then
- 20:16Speaker 1: he says, I want you to love your neighbor as
- 20:20Speaker 1: you love yourself. Now, if God now legislates love, then
- 20:25Speaker 1: love now has indicted the lawyer. Love has brought an
- 20:32Speaker 1: indictment against the lawyer personally. predicated on the concept that
- 20:36Speaker 1: he's guilty. Probably of never loving the Lord thy God
- 20:42Speaker 1: with all thy heart, thy mind, and soul. But at
- 20:45Speaker 1: a very minimum, he is guilty of not loving his
- 20:48Speaker 1: neighbor as himself, and this is how I know. He's
- 20:51Speaker 1: looking for a loophole. Watch this, watch this, watch this.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Y'all doing okay? Y'all good? Y'all good? Okay, watch this.
- 20:57Speaker 1: He says, the Lord who is love made flesh says,
- 21:03Speaker 1: love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and
- 21:04Speaker 1: mind and soul. Love thy neighbor as thyself. And then
- 21:07Speaker 1: the lawyer says to the Lord, who is my neighbor?
- 21:14Speaker 1: That's the loophole. He says, you know, what do you believe?
- 21:20Speaker 1: What do you wear? What is your theology? I don't
- 21:23Speaker 1: know whether I'm gonna love you or not till I
- 21:25Speaker 1: find out who is my neighbor. So this is supposed
- 21:29Speaker 1: to be smart. What he is saying is, do I
- 21:31Speaker 1: determine by who lives next door to me? Do I
- 21:34Speaker 1: determine by my ethnicity? Do I determine by my politics?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Do I determine by my orthodoxy? Who is my neighbor? Okay,
- 21:44Speaker 1: y'all with me? If you don't understand that, then you
- 21:49Speaker 1: have never understood the story of the Good Samaritan. Because
- 21:53Speaker 1: the story of the Good Samaritan is Jesus' answer to
- 21:57Speaker 1: the lawyer's loophole. Jesus looks at him. Watch this, y'all.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Watch this. I'm going to tell you this. I'll be gone.
- 22:08Speaker 1: He says, who is my neighbor? And Jesus doesn't even
- 22:13Speaker 1: answer him. He says, a certain man. Jesus is so cool.
- 22:19Speaker 1: He's so cool. He's so cool. Jesus says, a certain
- 22:25Speaker 1: man went down from Jerusalem. The very fact that he
- 22:29Speaker 1: said he went down from Jerusalem says he's a Jew.
- 22:33Speaker 1: To Jericho. And he says, he fell amongst thieves who
- 22:39Speaker 1: stripped him and wounded him and left him half dead.
- 22:45Speaker 1: He says, A Levite passed by and saw him. Levite,
- 22:51Speaker 1: Levitical priesthood. Your pastors. Your religious orthodoxy. Those that epitomize
- 23:04Speaker 1: the sacraments of your faith. The tenants, the one who
- 23:07Speaker 1: handled the theology for you. Passed by, looked at him
- 23:13Speaker 1: and turned and went away. You mean this guy who
- 23:22Speaker 1: the lawyer would perceive to be an okay neighbor didn't
- 23:27Speaker 1: help him? Let me break this down where it becomes
- 23:33Speaker 1: relevant to you. Have you ever been shocked when you
- 23:36Speaker 1: were in trouble at who didn't help you? The person
- 23:42Speaker 1: that you thought for sure that you knew would be
- 23:45Speaker 1: your ride or die? Ride or die is an African-American
- 23:50Speaker 1: colloquial that means like total commitment. It just means to
- 23:57Speaker 1: be totally committed. That's enough about that. And you find
- 24:03Speaker 1: out that when the heat is on, the brother who
- 24:07Speaker 1: said he would always be there for you, act like
- 24:11Speaker 1: he don't even know you, looks at your predicament and
- 24:15Speaker 1: crosses by on the other side. Hey, stay right where
- 24:20Speaker 1: you are. We'll be right back after this. If he
- 24:24Speaker 1: commands me to do it, it must be within my
- 24:28Speaker 1: power to accomplish it. Because it wouldn't be just to
- 24:32Speaker 1: command me to do something that I cannot do. So
- 24:36Speaker 1: that means that love is controllable. I give up everything
- 24:40Speaker 1: to follow you. You wouldn't give up a ham sandwich
- 24:43Speaker 1: at 11 o'clock at night. Imagine how your personal relationships
- 24:48Speaker 1: would change If you love the people in your life
- 24:52Speaker 1: like you love yourself, the reality is we always want
- 24:57Speaker 1: to get more than we're willing to give. So this
- 25:01Speaker 1: second scripture obliterates selfishness. It's not what we did yesterday
- 25:07Speaker 1: that's messing us up. It's that you won't grow with me.

- 27:43Speaker 1: to do. My soul says yes. My mind says yes.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I know I'm a better woman than this. I know
- 27:50Speaker 1: I'm a better man than this. Create in me a
