- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I'm in the movie food KF I AM six forty.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Bill Handle here. Good morning. Then it's Friday the thirteenth.
- 0:17Speaker 2: It is time for well footy Friday as well as
- 0:21Speaker 2: ask Candle anything we do footy Friday. First, ask Candle
- 0:24Speaker 2: anything at the bottom of the hour and what is
- 0:28Speaker 2: going on? Well, oh, I'm watching the Olympics and now
- 0:32Speaker 2: the ten thousand meter skate speed skating is going on.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Those guys are incredible, by the way, and this is
- 0:40Speaker 2: the women's version. If we notice, look how big those
- 0:45Speaker 2: thighs are. I mean, it's the event should be called
- 0:50Speaker 2: charging rhinoceros legs. I mean that is there. Those are
- 0:54Speaker 2: really thick, muscular thighs. Boy, that's sexy, isn't that? Okay? Hey,
- 1:00Speaker 2: moving on?
- 1:01Speaker 3: It is?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah it is. Yeah, I could crack you like
- 1:05Speaker 2: a walnut. Okay, moving on. I'm not going to go
- 1:10Speaker 2: beyond that either. Oh right, it's time for foody Friday.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Here we go again. Lost my train of thought there
- 1:18Speaker 2: for a moment. Neil joins me and let's just go
- 1:24Speaker 2: down the list. Oh you know what, let's start only
- 1:26Speaker 2: because I'm going to use the jarred pasta or the
- 1:30Speaker 2: jar of pasta today, and you have a choice. Obviously,
- 1:36Speaker 2: I have a jar of rows, which is pretty high
- 1:39Speaker 2: end raos, Yeah, raos or rows whatever, So raos which
- 1:43Speaker 2: is not in which is not inexpensive. And I'm making
- 1:46Speaker 2: chili or Lindsey's making chili. So do you need something
- 1:50Speaker 2: of that quality of you know, at the raos is
- 1:53Speaker 2: eight bucks? What is sixteen ounces or twenty ounces? And
- 1:56Speaker 2: then pray goo is what four dollars ninety cents? And
- 2:01Speaker 2: then there's prey go pr ay go, which is like
- 2:06Speaker 2: seventy eight cents the jar so pray when you go, Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 2: that's true.
- 2:10Speaker 4: So where where do I say with that? What do
- 2:14Speaker 4: you suggest? Okay, so this is great? All recipes did
- 2:16Speaker 4: this breakdown. They asked chefs to pick the best pasta
- 2:20Speaker 4: sauce and they all unanimously picked the sauce that I
- 2:25Speaker 4: keep in my house and that you just mentioned, and
- 2:28Speaker 4: that's raos. So REOs comes from a restaurant, a small
- 2:32Speaker 4: restaurant in New York that have been around for a
- 2:36Speaker 4: long time. We also have there's one in Las Vegas,
- 2:39Speaker 4: and we're lucky enough to have one here in Los
- 2:41Speaker 4: Angeles as well, which is fantastic. I mean, you feel
- 2:44Speaker 4: like you're in New York when you're in there, and
- 2:46Speaker 4: they treat you wonderful and the food is fantastic, and
- 2:49Speaker 4: they're not rushing you in or out. They're just letting
- 2:51Speaker 4: you enjoy yourself in there. But REO's, like you said,
- 2:55Speaker 4: can't be expensive. However, I see it go on sale
- 2:59Speaker 4: to for one all the time and you have to
- 3:02Speaker 4: be you know, sometimes even a four pack. But this
- 3:05Speaker 4: goes for their marinara sauce. It also goes with their
- 3:08Speaker 4: pizza sauce. If you haven't tried their pizza sauce, it's
- 3:10Speaker 4: also fantastic. And across the board, chefs were like, this
- 3:16Speaker 4: is the best you're gonna get. But if barbage out,
- 3:19Speaker 4: I don't care if you're making you know, you know.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Well, let me ask this. And that is a major
- 3:27Speaker 2: food conglomerate bought REOs and I forgot which one, And
- 3:31Speaker 2: now it has turned from this little mom and pop
- 3:34Speaker 2: product to being massively manufactured because they're selling them well
- 3:40Speaker 2: they costco sells them, for example, in two packs, which
- 3:43Speaker 2: are a great price. I buy those. Does that change
- 3:47Speaker 2: the flavor? Is it just the recipe and the line.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I've had this conversation with Conway, who is a Tim
- 3:54Speaker 4: Cobway junior, of course, heard here every single day, starting
- 3:58Speaker 4: it for until twoesday.
- 4:00Speaker 3: And then.
- 4:03Speaker 4: He was saying because he loves a good jarred sauce,
- 4:06Speaker 4: even though his wife is a cook and she makes
- 4:08Speaker 4: a great sauce. But he said that he loved REOs
- 4:11Speaker 4: at first, and then he said it kind of changed.
- 4:13Speaker 4: I don't think so, or I haven't experienced that yet,
- 4:17Speaker 4: but still I think comparatively it's an excellent, excellent.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Jarge jarred sauce.
- 4:25Speaker 4: So if you're gonna do that, if you want to
- 4:28Speaker 4: do a lesser sauce and you want to judge it up,
- 4:32Speaker 4: I'm a big fan of adding some fresh ingredients to it.
- 4:35Speaker 4: You can caramelize some onions, do a little garlic and
- 4:40Speaker 4: olive oil, and then add that to jarred sauce, maybe
- 4:45Speaker 4: some fresh chopped basil, and you can make most sauces
- 4:49Speaker 4: taste pretty darn good just by doing that. Maybe adding
- 4:52Speaker 4: some ground beef or lamb or something like that to
- 4:56Speaker 4: it to kick it up a bit. But I will
- 4:59Speaker 4: tell you REOs is just fantastic.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we're making Yeah, it's sitting. It's sitting on my
- 5:06Speaker 2: counter right now. Michelle, Michelle Cube, the Cube Meister makes
- 5:12Speaker 2: a sauce from scratch.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Such she makes a Sunday gravery. I'll get to have
- 5:16Speaker 4: her on the air again. She's given the recipe on
- 5:18Speaker 4: the on my show before you can follow her at
- 5:22Speaker 4: I think it's just producer Michelle isn't it on her Instagram,
- 5:25Speaker 4: But she does the real deal. She makes fresh meatballs,
- 5:30Speaker 4: though and everything every single week.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I think killing her own counts. I mean, she really
- 5:35Speaker 2: goes a fresh to a level. That arm pops Footy
- 5:39Speaker 2: Friday with Neil and some new items at Wendy's. We
- 5:46Speaker 2: enjoy doing that fast food and what the new items
- 5:48Speaker 2: is are And then Wendy's new slogan for Wendy's is
- 5:54Speaker 2: we want you to be square because that's where we
- 5:58Speaker 2: were at.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Good we do. Have you ever rapped professionally?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Oh yes, I have many many times.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Oh boy, you ever have your mom's spaghetti on your sweater?
- 6:10Speaker 2: My mother's dad my sweater. I have everybody's spaghetti is
- 6:13Speaker 2: spaghetti on my sweater.
- 6:15Speaker 1: You know.
- 6:15Speaker 4: I often wondered why Eminem was wearing a sweater to
- 6:19Speaker 4: a wrap battle.
- 6:19Speaker 2: But that's all right, that's right, cool, that's cool.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Any who, wend our friends at Wendy's has they have
- 6:26Speaker 4: two new menu items for a limited time, and I
- 6:30Speaker 4: want to make note of one because these raps are
- 6:34Speaker 4: back again. For a while, McDonald's had a rap like
- 6:39Speaker 4: a ranch rap and has chicken in it. It did
- 6:43Speaker 4: really well and then they disappeared. Now they're back and
- 6:46Speaker 4: slowly you're finding them everywhere. So now Wendy's has a
- 6:49Speaker 4: chicken tenders ranch rap. But the reason why I wanted
- 6:52Speaker 4: to point this out is not only because these raps.
- 6:55Speaker 4: They're delicious, they're easy to eat, and they're you know,
- 6:59Speaker 4: they are a nice you know, break from a burger sometimes,
- 7:05Speaker 4: and that Wendy's has superior tenders as you know, Bill, They're.
- 7:11Speaker 2: They're insane, they're just absolutely Hey, when did this start
- 7:16Speaker 2: where you had this very limited promotional item just to
- 7:21Speaker 2: get people in the store and then it disappears. Was
- 7:23Speaker 2: it McDonald's with the McRib.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I don't know, but that's the one that comes to
- 7:30Speaker 4: my mind as well. That's the one that I think, okay,
- 7:33Speaker 4: became seasonal. And then the Shamrock shake too, that would
- 7:37Speaker 4: come once a year, at McDonald's around March.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And the Starbucks with all the yeah, with all all
- 7:44Speaker 2: the Thanksgiving stuff that you'll be at to pay.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Celebratory stuff. Yeah, Hollidays, Halloween, pumpkin everything. Yes, the PSLs,
- 7:57Speaker 4: pump and spice lattes. So Wendy's got this new chick
- 8:00Speaker 4: and Tender ranch wrap. I've had it. It's great. It
- 8:04Speaker 4: is really The ratios are good, and to me that's important.
- 8:08Speaker 4: So the ranch is not It's not covered in it
- 8:12Speaker 4: to the point where you're swimming in it. They also
- 8:15Speaker 4: have a cheesy bacon cheeseburger, which I have not tried yet,
- 8:18Speaker 4: but that is now on.
- 8:19Speaker 3: These two are on the menu.
- 8:22Speaker 4: They are supposed to launch February sixteenth, but like I said,
- 8:25Speaker 4: last time I went to Wendy's they had them on
- 8:28Speaker 4: the menus.
- 8:28Speaker 3: To check your local offerings there.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Okay, Valentine's Day desserts, I don't want to at Costco.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Of course. A quick word about Valentine's Day desserts or
- 8:39Speaker 2: any dessert. If you like cheesecake and I love cheesecake.
- 8:43Speaker 2: The best cheesecake I have ever in my life tasted
- 8:47Speaker 2: comes from Wilfork and it is their basque. Their basque cheesecake,
- 8:55Speaker 2: which is for you know, the cheesecake. Normal cheesecakes is
- 8:58Speaker 2: your normal cheesecake, but this basque is sort of caramelized
- 9:01Speaker 2: on the top. It is, and it's white and airy
- 9:06Speaker 2: and spectacular. It's so good.
- 9:10Speaker 4: The hard thing to explain to people about Wildfork is
- 9:15Speaker 4: how great their food is, because all people think of
- 9:18Speaker 4: as well, it's frozen, but you can't you can't understand it.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Guess what, By the way, they are going to be
- 9:25Speaker 4: supplying some of the proteins and that very cheesecake at
- 9:30Speaker 4: your barbecue that we're going to.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm having a barbecue, and I want to tell
- 9:34Speaker 2: everybody you're not invited. Well, none of you.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Are donated to Katarita's Club.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Well yeah, yeah, so a couple of people donated huge
- 9:42Speaker 2: money to join us at our barbecue now and it's private,
- 9:45Speaker 2: so you're not invited at all. But we're going to
- 9:46Speaker 2: broadcast it. Yes, we are going to broadcast it from
- 9:49Speaker 2: my house, and we'll be reminding you literally every thirty
- 9:52Speaker 2: seconds that you're not here. Let's finish up with the
- 9:56Speaker 2: best costco Valentine's Day desserts.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Valentine's Day is tomorrow, gentlemen, get off your ars. But
- 10:04Speaker 4: these are less than two dollars per serving at Costco,
- 10:07Speaker 4: and they're two treats. There's there's flowerless chocolate cake. They
- 10:12Speaker 4: have their molten lava cakes and their airy chocolate moose.
- 10:17Speaker 4: So they've got a lot of things going on there
- 10:20Speaker 4: that you can snag for if you don't want to
- 10:23Speaker 4: make the dessert that Belgian chocolate moose. The things that
- 10:27Speaker 4: they have there are delicious, They're easy to grab, and
- 10:32Speaker 4: I'm a big fan of the reason why I did
- 10:34Speaker 4: sauces and these desserts. I'm a big fan of pasta,
- 10:41Speaker 4: not heavy, heavy, big big, but little nests of pasta,
- 10:44Speaker 4: kind of like the.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Anaheim White House.
- 10:46Speaker 4: They do a trio of pasta, and I think that
- 10:52Speaker 4: is such a lovely and you know, sultrey appetizers. So
- 10:57Speaker 4: I'm a big for Valentine's Day, some nice little nests
- 11:02Speaker 4: of pasta.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Just one quick question before we bail out of here
- 11:05Speaker 2: and go to ask Candle anything I've always wondered, and
- 11:08Speaker 2: I haven't paid particular attention, But how do you make
- 11:11Speaker 2: a flowerless cake? Don't you need flour for virtually all cake?
- 11:17Speaker 4: Technically it's not a cake like that it becomes like
- 11:20Speaker 4: a mouse or a ganage.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Oh okay, but they call it cake. All right. That
- 11:26Speaker 2: answers that question. It's foody Friday, Ask Candle Anything Friday.
- 11:29Speaker 2: It's also Friday the thirteenth, as we finished the show
- 11:34Speaker 2: every Friday with Ask Candle Anything. And it's all about
- 11:37Speaker 2: you recording a recording a question. And you do that
- 11:42Speaker 2: anytime during the show. You go to the iHeartRadio app
- 11:46Speaker 2: and then this show will be broadcast and then you
- 11:48Speaker 2: just click on the microphone in the upright hand corner
- 11:50Speaker 2: and record a question and then I answer them. And
- 11:53Speaker 2: the rules are always the same. I have not heard
- 11:56Speaker 2: the question, Neil chooses the question. And because some of
- 12:01Speaker 2: them are repetitive, some of them are derivative, derivative, and
- 12:08Speaker 2: some are just uh kind of nuts, although we like
- 12:12Speaker 2: the counter nuts one. Okay, So ask handle anything. Let's
- 12:16Speaker 2: start cono. Hey Bill, why don't you play the tape
- 12:20Speaker 2: that you used to have?
- 12:21Speaker 3: That?
- 12:21Speaker 2: The guy said, I hate minudo.
- 12:24Speaker 3: That's an old one, and that's how long I've been
- 12:26Speaker 3: listening to you. Thanks.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I don't even remember that.
- 12:31Speaker 3: I didn't remember that.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I don't remember that. That was during the
- 12:38Speaker 4: old days. Possibly the Maybe it was a drop or something.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't Yeah, I don't remember. Maybe. Okay, good answer,
- 12:47Speaker 2: good question. No I hate Menudo. Okay, it's tripe.
- 12:52Speaker 3: You're tripe.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I am right. Don't talking about the band. Maybe it
- 12:56Speaker 2: is because I really like then I didn't like them either. Okay,
- 13:00Speaker 2: next question.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Hey Bill, my question.
- 13:03Speaker 5: I know sometimes you say that law enforcement and not
- 13:06Speaker 5: want people are not heroes in your eyes, because that's
- 13:08Speaker 5: their line of work.
- 13:09Speaker 2: But at what point, right at that point when you
- 13:15Speaker 2: cut out, at what point do you think they are heroes?
- 13:20Speaker 2: I think number one, when they've gone beyond the call
- 13:22Speaker 2: of duty and when they put their lives on the
- 13:25Speaker 2: line to either rescue someone or to save someone's lives
- 13:30Speaker 2: showing up to work, they're not heroes. That's their job.
- 13:34Speaker 2: And heroes the military their heroes. How about the guy
- 13:38Speaker 2: who is a barber in the military. I once met
- 13:42Speaker 2: a military guy in Israel. He was a barber in
- 13:44Speaker 2: the Israeli forces. That is not a hero to me.
- 13:47Speaker 2: That's all.
- 13:48Speaker 4: He could cut your he could throw those scissors, mind
- 13:51Speaker 4: all right, but that's and that's what I view as
- 13:55Speaker 4: a hero. That's all.
- 13:56Speaker 2: It's just throws to go.
- 13:58Speaker 3: And do a job that's dangerous.
- 14:00Speaker 2: No, no, no, I think you go into a that's
- 14:03Speaker 2: not heroic. It's a job, you know, that is dangerous.
- 14:05Speaker 2: That's not heroic. That isn't at least in my opinion. No,
- 14:11Speaker 2: you know, going into a burning building. By the way,
- 14:14Speaker 2: going into a burning building is not particularly heroic to
- 14:18Speaker 2: me either. When a fireman does that. Now, when the
- 14:22Speaker 2: fireman is at risk for losing his or her life
- 14:26Speaker 2: and goes in, and it would be reasonable for that
- 14:29Speaker 2: fire person not to go in because it's that dangerous,
- 14:33Speaker 2: that's heroic to me. Wow. Yeah, all right, moving on.
- 14:40Speaker 6: Hi, Bill, I'm calling cuz I heard you talking about
- 14:43Speaker 6: your Platinum cookware and your tariffs, and I was wondering
- 14:46Speaker 6: if you and your partner Saple have tried to manufacture
- 14:50Speaker 6: in the United States. Do Americans make stain the steel pans?
- 14:54Speaker 2: Oooh good question. My partner and I, Saville and I
- 14:58Speaker 2: have something called Platinum Cookware where import cookwar from China,
- 15:02Speaker 2: and the tariffs are astronomical. I think we're paying one
- 15:06Speaker 2: hundred and thirty five percent in teriffs. Problem is, manufacturing
- 15:10Speaker 2: the United States is ridiculously expensive. It would triple the
- 15:14Speaker 2: cost of the cookware. So it is very, very tough.
- 15:18Speaker 2: One of the things that the president wants to do
- 15:20Speaker 2: is bring back manufacturing the United States. He doesn't point
- 15:25Speaker 2: out that there's going to be a hell of a
- 15:27Speaker 2: lot more money because well, for example, a car worker
- 15:31Speaker 2: in Mexico makes three dollars an hour. A car work
- 15:34Speaker 2: in the United States makes thirty dollars an hour. So
- 15:38Speaker 2: it's that's why. All right, You know, these questions are
- 15:41Speaker 2: just I'm doing topics, Neil, what are you doing to me?
- 15:47Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's weird today is weird? Yeah, I know
- 15:51Speaker 2: the listeners. Okay, let's do another one. Let's do another one,
- 15:55Speaker 2: or do one about his butthole. Yeah, butthole's good.
- 15:58Speaker 3: You can enjoy himself.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yeah, Well that you can take that on several different levels.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Uh okay, Bill. My question to you is this, Can
- 16:09Speaker 2: you explain to me the difference between a Jew and
- 16:12Speaker 2: a Hebrew.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Ah, that's a hot dog.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Uh yeah, one's a hot dog. Uh yeah. One is
- 16:22Speaker 2: generally a banker or some kind of doctor or lawyer. Uh.
- 16:29Speaker 2: They're actually interchangeable. A Jew is religion. Hebrew is a
- 16:34Speaker 2: definition of a person that goes back to Biblical times.
- 16:40Speaker 2: You speak Hebrew, you do not, and you do not
- 16:42Speaker 2: speak Jewish, although I speak Jewish. There's Yiddish, which is
- 16:46Speaker 2: a form of uh, which is a form of Hebrew.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Mixing it up. Yeah, it's a good question. That's a
- 16:51Speaker 2: good question. They're mainly interchangeable. Uh, it's uh yeah, does
- 16:57Speaker 2: that make sense? That sort of flummos me. That was
- 16:59Speaker 2: a great question.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Could someone be he Brewish?
- 17:03Speaker 2: One can be he Brewish? Okay, yeah, I think so.
- 17:07Speaker 2: It's no. I'm gonna think about that one. You know,
- 17:09Speaker 2: good question. You got me from. You got me on
- 17:12Speaker 2: that just to make me think, let's do it more?
- 17:15Speaker 2: Handle on? Uh? What ask handle anything?
- 17:19Speaker 3: Hey, good morning, Bill.
- 17:20Speaker 1: So my question for you is on your radio show
- 17:24Speaker 1: in the morning, have you ever had an interview and
- 17:28Speaker 1: unhandled with the law. Have you ever had a call
- 17:31Speaker 1: that caught you off guard and you actually got emotional
- 17:34Speaker 1: and and kind of showed it out on air that
- 17:37Speaker 1: it touched you a little deeper and you thought possible.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Thanks. No, there's never been a call that hit made No. Nothing,
- 17:48Speaker 2: Nothing has hit me emotionally. Nothing. And what was the
- 17:51Speaker 2: first question. I've already loved you, have I owned no? No,
- 17:56Speaker 2: God no, I've never never interviewed something that you know.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I know now. I came close. I came close to
- 18:05Speaker 2: a teacher, a kindergarten teacher that watched as her entire
- 18:09Speaker 2: class was hacked to death by some crazy guy and
- 18:14Speaker 2: described how these little five year olds were screaming and
- 18:18Speaker 2: they were dying. And that was close, but not really. Okay,
- 18:24Speaker 2: Jesus man, Okay, moving on.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Hey, question for Bill, if you had to do your
- 18:30Speaker 4: show with another host on KFI, which one would you pick?
- 18:35Speaker 2: And why? None of them?
- 18:39Speaker 3: That's not an option?
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's just no, none of them. I think.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Let me tell you that if I were the program director,
- 18:50Speaker 2: I would fire everybody and put myself on probation. That
- 18:56Speaker 2: is no, I would not. I have noticed to have
- 19:01Speaker 2: another show. I don't. I do a lot. I do
- 19:03Speaker 2: a show I have, you know, Neil and I have
- 19:06Speaker 2: uh you know Kno's part of it, and certainly Amy's
- 19:09Speaker 2: part of it. And you know I'm forced to do that.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I have no choice. I got a contract. But other
- 19:14Speaker 2: than that, no, I do the news. I would do
- 19:17Speaker 2: the board. I would do what Neil does. I would
- 19:19Speaker 2: certainly do what will does you know? Looking looking at
