- 0:18Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:22Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:25Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Wednesday, July ninth,
- 0:30Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. People are throwing away their La Boo
- 0:36Speaker 1: boos after alleged paranormal activity. Consumers and people on social
- 0:43Speaker 1: media think the viral Labooboo dolls are cursed by a
- 0:47Speaker 1: demon named Puzuzu. Some have even started throwing the dolls
- 0:52Speaker 1: away and burning them after finding scratches and reporting weird
- 0:56Speaker 1: paranormal activity while in their presence. If you have a
- 1:02Speaker 1: La Boo Boo doll, beware because it may be possessed.
- 1:09Speaker 1: All right, I would like to point out that like
- 1:11Speaker 1: thirty minutes ago, I didn't know what a Laboo boo
- 1:13Speaker 1: doll was, but now I know I don't want one.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Well, see now I was about to say, I'm gonna
- 1:18Speaker 2: be the old guy here and go what's a La
- 1:20Speaker 2: Boo boo doll?
- 1:21Speaker 1: Trey, do not be afraid, just start over and just just.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Ask the question, what's a La boo boo doll?
- 1:32Speaker 1: According to the AI Overview, I just looked up la
- 1:35Speaker 1: boo Boo is a fictional character and a brand primarily
- 1:39Speaker 1: known as a collectible plush toy monster elf. It was
- 1:43Speaker 1: created by Hong Kong born artist Kasein Lung and is
- 1:46Speaker 1: part of a larger series called The Monsters. Le Boo
- 1:49Speaker 1: Boo has a distinctive appearance with pointy ears, big eyes,
- 1:53Speaker 1: and a mischievous grin showing nineteeth. The toys are popular,
- 1:56Speaker 1: especially among younger generations, and are often sold in black
- 2:00Speaker 1: boxes by the Chinese retailer pop Marked.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah, they'll go for like thousands of dollars.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Oh are these? Are these like the Furbies or the
- 2:14Speaker 1: Beanie Babies for gen Z? Yes, because I saw this
- 2:18Speaker 1: story pop up a lot. I saw this story pop
- 2:24Speaker 1: up during my research into demonic La Boo Boos. Wang Ning,
- 2:29Speaker 1: CEO of PopMart and creator of the La Boo Boo doll,
- 2:33Speaker 1: is now one of China's youngest top ten billionaires, with
- 2:37Speaker 1: a net worth of twenty two point seven billion. La
- 2:42Speaker 1: Boo Boos, M h, that's a lot of that's that's
- 2:46Speaker 1: a lot of dolls he is. He is thirty eight.
- 2:50Speaker 1: His success stems from La Boo Boo's global popularity and
- 2:53Speaker 1: Pop Mart's blind box business model, which fuels anticipation and collectibility.
- 2:59Speaker 1: The surprise element drives high demand and resell value among
- 3:02Speaker 1: gen Z collectors. Celebrity endorsements, including Rhannas, have further boosted
- 3:08Speaker 1: Laboo boos status as a must have cultural phenomenon.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, there's clothing for it, accessories, little clippies that
- 3:20Speaker 3: you can hang you to La booo from your bag.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I had a Teddy rouxsbin.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah you did, Danny.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You know why I had a Teddy rouxsban because my
- 3:29Speaker 1: parents didn't read to me.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Oh, I thought it was because your imaginary friends stopped
- 3:33Speaker 3: talking to you.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Also that Yeah, you need to tell someone to talk to.
- 3:40Speaker 2: They look like tu telebug tubbies. Yes, yes, and I see.
- 3:48Speaker 4: That the people on Instagram like, I know I'm loved
- 3:52Speaker 4: because my fans, uh you know, sent me a La
- 3:55Speaker 4: Boo boo or whatever. And they're very, very expensive. So
- 3:59Speaker 4: when you have celebrity is taking two Instagram to thank
- 4:01Speaker 4: people for sending them.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah all right, all right, so similar similar to beanie
- 4:10Speaker 1: babies and and the furbies back in the day, if
- 4:15Speaker 1: you come across a La Boo boo doll, should you
- 4:17Speaker 1: hang on to it? And hopes that it increases in
- 4:19Speaker 1: value and then you can cash in, uh come retirement time.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I think you can do that now. If you were
- 4:26Speaker 4: to just run across a box of La Boo boos,
- 4:29Speaker 4: like you could sell them. Depending on their collectibility, you
- 4:33Speaker 4: could send them, sell them for thousands of dollars apiece,
- 4:39Speaker 4: so you could retire theoretically the next day.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Oh so I wouldn't have to wait.
- 4:44Speaker 3: That's right, because it's going it's going to crash.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So so this is this is uh not so much
- 4:51Speaker 1: a long term investment, more quick score type of thing.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like it's like Christian death metal, it's a fad,
- 5:01Speaker 4: it'll go away.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Did that ever go away? It did? Or is it
- 5:06Speaker 1: just in the dark corners of the church.
- 5:10Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean I think the retail legitimately like
- 5:13Speaker 4: somewhere between eighteen bucks or thirty eight bucks, somewhere in
- 5:18Speaker 4: that range. But depending on if you can get your
- 5:21Speaker 4: hands on them when they come out, and if it's
- 5:24Speaker 4: a limited edition, or if it has accessories that the
- 5:27Speaker 4: other ones don't have, so on and so forth. From
- 5:30Speaker 4: what I saw on Instagram, they just skyrocket and value.
- 5:35Speaker 1: The closest I can recall from my youth that we
- 5:38Speaker 1: had to compare to the Labooboo doll phenomenon was the
- 5:42Speaker 1: cabbage Patch Kids CRW.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Yes, Yes, yeah, I mean I think those are still
- 5:48Speaker 4: kind of worth something pretty substantially.
- 5:52Speaker 3: If you've got the original ones, I.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Think they go they there's a cyclical nature that they
- 5:57Speaker 2: get popular again and then yeah, they're worthwhile. But yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 2: I would say Roger's right. If you have them now,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I would sell.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't want to hang on to those because
- 6:09Speaker 4: you know, and while Roger's analogy was correct, you know,
- 6:12Speaker 4: Striper is still.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Touring, Oh my god. But I don't think they're selling
- 6:21Speaker 2: out any arenas.
- 6:25Speaker 4: They're selling up Dickies, not the arena, just an actual dickies.
- 6:30Speaker 5: And honestly, we're quite proud.
- 6:44Speaker 6: You're listening to the Treehouse.

- 7:13Speaker 1: years to partner with some outstanding companies wanting to help.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And today we get to add cook DFW's name to
- 7:20Speaker 1: that list of excellent sponsors to the foundation because Daniel,

- 7:27Speaker 1: to give back to our first responders in DFW.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Right, Dan, that's.
- 7:31Speaker 8: Absolutely correct, and you know, truth be known, Carrie has
- 7:35Speaker 8: given to the foundation for quite so many years. But
- 7:39Speaker 8: now at a company level, I think we are wanting
- 7:41Speaker 8: to definitely you know, beefed up and start giving back
- 7:46Speaker 8: to the foundation. And it's unfortunately, this is a foundation
- 7:49Speaker 8: nobody wants to have to donate to, but it's the
- 7:52Speaker 8: real world is that these things do happen, and it's
- 7:56Speaker 8: the type of foundation that you don't want around, but
- 7:58Speaker 8: you definitely want it to be, you know, available.
- 8:01Speaker 2: To the families that need it.
- 8:02Speaker 8: And so over the next couple of months, you know,
- 8:05Speaker 8: a portion of all the proceeds from the work done
- 8:08Speaker 8: from Treehouse listeners that call in and let us know
- 8:11Speaker 8: that they heard about you on the show, we're gonna
- 8:13Speaker 8: be donating to the RMS tree House Listeners Foundation and
- 8:16Speaker 8: making sure that we can keep that very stable in
- 8:21Speaker 8: the accounting side and have funds available that when the
- 8:24Speaker 8: families need it, it's going to be there. So we're
- 8:27Speaker 8: very fortunate to be a part of the organization and
- 8:31Speaker 8: we look forward to try and assist and help as
- 8:33Speaker 8: much as we can.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Not only a company that cares about you as a client,

- 9:34Speaker 1: is the Treehouse Show. I'm Dan, he's Trey. That's Raj.
- 9:39Speaker 1: When you said Christian death metal, I thought you were
- 9:43Speaker 1: just coming up with a random combination of things that
- 9:48Speaker 1: have never gone together. But then Trey, you actually know
- 9:52Speaker 1: of a band.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I wouldn't death metal, but it was Christian heavy metal. Yeah, Striper.
- 9:57Speaker 2: They were probably the only Christian metal band that achieved
- 10:02Speaker 2: some mainstream success. Well.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Sometimes you know they say that sometimes to get big,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you gotta go small. You gotta narrow your focus, find
- 10:11Speaker 1: your niche, and Christian metal sounds pretty niche to me.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I had, I had the I had the album. Uh huh,
- 10:20Speaker 3: I had the album. It was Stripper's.
- 10:22Speaker 4: It was very controversial because the title of the album
- 10:25Speaker 4: was to Hell with the Devil.
- 10:27Speaker 1: That they at high school, just handing that out during
- 10:31Speaker 1: lunch or.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I met them in wood shop. No, but they had
- 10:36Speaker 4: like the black and yellow like striped gear, like the
- 10:39Speaker 4: very metal, the big hair, the drummers. I believe high
- 10:43Speaker 4: hat symbol was behind him, so that was cool. I
- 10:45Speaker 4: played drums, so that was kind of cool to see,
- 10:47Speaker 4: like a new way to play drums. And I think
- 10:51Speaker 4: they're actually on a reunion tour right now. But they
- 10:54Speaker 4: did go as they call it secular for the longest time,
- 10:59Speaker 4: and then they're popular Waned and now that I think
- 11:02Speaker 4: Creed made a comeback, Striper is like, hey, can you
- 11:04Speaker 4: all get off of work at Wiener Stencil and let's
- 11:06Speaker 4: get the band back together.
- 11:09Speaker 3: And so, uh, they're actually.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Touring again on that album I believe were their Collection
- 11:15Speaker 4: of Albums fortieth Anniversary.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Tour fortieth Anniversary Striper.
- 11:21Speaker 3: So that should be the Hell with the Devil album.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Christian heavy metal mm hmm.
- 11:27Speaker 3: It is a thing.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And here I was just knowing about DC talk.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yeah, people don't realize man evan essence Christian band. It
- 11:36Speaker 4: went second. Amy Lee decided she called it a I love.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I loved her response from They're like, I thought you
- 11:40Speaker 4: were Christian band.
- 11:41Speaker 3: That was a phase.
- 11:45Speaker 1: That was our poor face. Then we realized that we
- 11:49Speaker 1: could have bugattis and stuff and uh huh. We we
- 11:53Speaker 1: can still be Christians at heart. We just don't have
- 11:56Speaker 1: to think about it.
- 11:58Speaker 2: It's just it's hard to guys that have addiction problems
- 12:02Speaker 2: and being Christian and writing torrid love songs about call
- 12:08Speaker 2: Me when You're sober.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, I for one to appreciate when the Christian
- 12:13Speaker 1: musical artists make it obvious that it's Christian music, because
- 12:17Speaker 1: I've been tricked before years and years and years ago.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I was driving home middle of the night and I
- 12:24Speaker 1: was hitting scan on my radio, and that's for one
- 12:26Speaker 1: tells you how long ago it was. Because I was
- 12:28Speaker 1: hitting the scan button and I ended up on a
- 12:31Speaker 1: little station in Dallas, eighty nine point seven. I had
- 12:34Speaker 1: never heard of it before. I didn't typically go anywhere
- 12:37Speaker 1: south of ninety two to five, but eighty nine point
- 12:40Speaker 1: seven started playing it and it was like, Hey, this
- 12:42Speaker 1: song's kind of catchy. So I hit the scan button
- 12:44Speaker 1: so it would stay on this station. I had this
- 12:46Speaker 1: song's catchy de deep Deep Deep to do, and then,
- 12:49Speaker 1: like you know, I don't know, two or three minutes
- 12:51Speaker 1: into the song, I was like, that's not bad. And
- 12:54Speaker 1: then the next song came on, also kind of catchy.
- 13:00Speaker 1: And then after about a minute more, I'm like, wait,
- 13:02Speaker 1: did he just say Jesus? H? So I listened even
- 13:06Speaker 1: more intently. I leaned into the radio like you do,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and you're really trying to hear something. Is he talk
- 13:13Speaker 1: about Jesus? And then very soon it was Jesus, Like oh, okay,
- 13:19Speaker 1: this is I've been tricked. I've been bamboozled. I've been
- 13:21Speaker 1: hoodwinked by the Christian music station. They never said they were.
- 13:25Speaker 1: They were just playing catchy music and sliding the Jesus
- 13:27Speaker 1: in there thinking I wouldn't notice.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Did you run home and rip your Amy Grant poster.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Off the wall.
- 13:35Speaker 4: And you're just shouting like, defile her? Vince Gill, I
- 13:46Speaker 4: have to bring Me to life. Bring Me to Life
- 13:48Speaker 4: by Evan Essence is a song about being saved.
- 13:51Speaker 3: People don't realize that.
- 13:52Speaker 1: And that's the thing that therein lights the difference. You
- 13:54Speaker 1: can sing about Jesus without saying his name, and that
- 13:58Speaker 1: opens you up to all these other audiences. And that's
- 14:01Speaker 1: why they that's why the artists will do that, because
- 14:04Speaker 1: eventually they'll get roped into to a music producer and
- 14:06Speaker 1: a music label that says, all right, we love your work,
- 14:08Speaker 1: we love your message. Do you want to be rich?
- 14:13Speaker 1: And then eventually they'll say yes, and they say, okay,
- 14:15Speaker 1: take everything you're currently doing and just take out the
- 14:18Speaker 1: very specific names of things. You can still sing about salvation,
- 14:22Speaker 1: you can still sing about love, just don't say that
- 14:26Speaker 1: Jesus is gonna be the one that saves you. And
- 14:28Speaker 1: loves you just you know, come up with something else.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Yeah, And then they made a bunch of money and
- 14:33Speaker 4: she's like, yeah, we're gonna go secular now. And she
- 14:34Speaker 4: started dating the lead singer of Either I believe it
- 14:38Speaker 4: was Either, and then they broke up and she married
- 14:41Speaker 4: her therapist.
- 14:44Speaker 3: What sounds about right, Yeah, And.
- 14:47Speaker 1: The good news is if it doesn't work out, you
- 14:50Speaker 1: can always go back because they will open you. The
- 14:54Speaker 1: religious community will welcome you with no pun intended open arms.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And that's exactly what Creed did. Creed started out Christian
- 15:03Speaker 1: and then they said, you know what if we dropped
- 15:05Speaker 1: some of the Jesus references and just go a little
- 15:07Speaker 1: more generic, we'll get really big and famous, make lots
- 15:10Speaker 1: of money, and we end up doing the halftime show
- 15:12Speaker 1: at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game for Salvation Army.
- 15:16Speaker 1: And then they did. And then he got a little
- 15:18Speaker 1: too carried away, and there was a video that came
- 15:20Speaker 1: out with him partying with kid Rock and then doing
- 15:23Speaker 1: some things that were not very Jesus like, and then
- 15:25Speaker 1: eventually he went crazy in a trailer park on a
- 15:27Speaker 1: bicycle in Florida, and then eventually he found Jesus again.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Because welcome you back forgiveness. It's all good.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Scott Well, No, the Texas Rangers had a lot to
- 15:36Speaker 3: do with that.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Well, whether or not his musical decision to go back
- 15:41Speaker 1: to Christian music was court ordered or not.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like he actually, I never really was a
- 15:48Speaker 2: Christian band. He just he sobered up when his kid
- 15:51Speaker 2: was born, wrote some really you know, sappy songs that
- 15:56Speaker 2: became big hits. Then he fell off the wagon again.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And then you know, one point when I was doing
- 16:02Speaker 2: production for iHeartRadio, I'm doing a commercial for his appearance
- 16:05Speaker 2: at the Walmart and rock Wall, and I've never really
- 16:08Speaker 2: laughed so hard doing because he was but he also
- 16:12Speaker 2: was The other problem was he was an ass, like
- 16:16Speaker 2: an absolute horrible, horrible person and one of those people
- 16:22Speaker 2: that you go you deserve every bit of it.
- 16:26Speaker 4: And then he would sing arms wide open or wherever
- 16:28Speaker 4: the song was, and he would like bring his kid
- 16:30Speaker 4: out like that's who he wrote the song about. And
- 16:32Speaker 4: I'm like, well, that's gonna you can only do that
- 16:34Speaker 4: for a few years, because it's gonna be hard to
- 16:36Speaker 4: do that in twenty when you're like carrying a twenty
- 16:39Speaker 4: year old out still trying to sing that song.
- 16:41Speaker 1: It just looks not at that twenty year old once
- 16:46Speaker 1: you know the Bugatti carry Me Daddy.
- 16:51Speaker 2: He kids going Residual Staddy Residuals.

- 18:04Speaker 1: Today's Wednesday, July ninth, twenty twenty five. I need to
- 18:10Speaker 1: give you guys an update on my roach splinter. The
- 18:15Speaker 1: other day, I told you about how my wife, who
- 18:18Speaker 1: was absolutely terrified for real, actually phobic when it comes
- 18:22Speaker 1: to roaches. Called me into the bedroom to kill a roach. Luckily,
- 18:26Speaker 1: it was already dead, and so when I went to
- 18:28Speaker 1: pinch it because I grabbed some tissue paper, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: grab some toilet paper to pinch it and squish it
- 18:32Speaker 1: and then do away with it. When I did it,
- 18:35Speaker 1: its back legs stabbed me in the thumb. Okay. And
- 18:41Speaker 1: when I told you guys about this, along with our
- 18:44Speaker 1: friend Rebecca, you all turned it into a nice, big
- 18:48Speaker 1: funny joke, thinking that I would then turn into a roach.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I have not turned into a roach. However, when I
- 18:58Speaker 1: told my wife about my roach splinter in my thumb,
- 19:04Speaker 1: she said, oh my god, is it still in there?
- 19:06Speaker 1: I was like, no, no, no, it's not in there. It
- 19:08Speaker 1: might actually still be in there, but I told her no.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And then because then she started to spiral because she says,
- 19:13Speaker 1: she says, because if it is still in there, then
- 19:15Speaker 1: that means And then I interrupted her because I'm gonna ask.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And we're like, well, the guy said they thought I
- 19:21Speaker 1: was going to turn into a roach. And she's like, no, no, no,
- 19:22Speaker 1: What's what's gonna happen is is it's gonna that roach
- 19:25Speaker 1: leg's going to be in there, and it's going to grow,
- 19:27Speaker 1: and then you're eventually going to be infected, and you
- 19:36Speaker 1: will then poop out roach eggs, thus giving birth to
- 19:39Speaker 1: roach babies, and then I'll have to leave you.
- 19:44Speaker 3: So, so how long has she been microdosing strooms? How
- 19:47Speaker 3: long has she been doing.
- 19:51Speaker 1: As far as I know, never, So the thought of
- 19:54Speaker 1: just turning into a roach wasn't quite bad enough, because
- 19:58Speaker 1: she took it a whole level worse by saying that
- 20:02Speaker 1: I would turn into a roach host and sped out
- 20:07Speaker 1: roach eggs full of roach babies, which actually would make
- 20:10Speaker 1: me a queen.
- 20:12Speaker 3: M hm.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So I don't really know how to feel about this.
- 20:18Speaker 1: It's like, on one hand, I'm pooping out roach babies,
- 20:23Speaker 1: on the other hand of royalty.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Yeah, you are.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Just waiting on you, buddy.
- 20:32Speaker 1: See this is way worse than you guys thinking that
- 20:35Speaker 1: I was just going to turn into a roach. This
- 20:37Speaker 1: this got it got way darker when I told my
- 20:39Speaker 1: wife about it. So the lesson is, don't tell your wife.
- 20:44Speaker 3: What's happening in Trey's head right now. And I'm just
- 20:45Speaker 3: waiting for it.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just h Yeah, can you get peg with
- 20:51Speaker 2: the disco ball?
- 20:56Speaker 4: Oh?
- 20:56Speaker 1: Come on like dancing Queen.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Traced. But peggars can't be choosers.
- 21:06Speaker 2: So you tell Tara that that it the roach leg
- 21:10Speaker 2: was out of your thumb. So if I text her
- 21:13Speaker 2: and tell her that you're lying.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Why why?
- 21:17Speaker 6: Why?
- 21:17Speaker 1: Why? Why why?
- 21:18Speaker 6: Trey?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Why would you say say such a thing?
- 21:21Speaker 3: Is it the is it the hand holding hand that
- 21:23Speaker 3: has it?
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it is my right hand, yes, pre dominant hand.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Yes, so roach infested.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Somebody needs to let her know. No, mm hmm.
- 21:40Speaker 4: I think that's the responsibility that we have to her
- 21:43Speaker 4: ask her friends.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yeah, she didn't like you guys that much.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I'm just saying if it just kind of slipped out.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Tiny, they could just be coming through your your pores
- 21:58Speaker 2: and you wouldn't know. There's right, just your bed is
- 22:01Speaker 2: probably covered in roach eggs.
- 22:03Speaker 1: No, I know, because I've seen roaches with the little
- 22:07Speaker 1: egg thing on the end of their butt, it kind
- 22:09Speaker 1: of hanging out. So I mean, if that happens, we'll
- 22:11Speaker 1: all know.
- 22:12Speaker 4: No, because it's it's size you see them, because you're
- 22:14Speaker 4: they're so small, You're i mean substantially larger than them,
- 22:18Speaker 4: so they'd be very very small in comparison.
- 22:22Speaker 1: You don't think there'd be some mutation to where then
- 22:28Speaker 1: they'd be large, Like some of my DNA gets in there.
- 22:32Speaker 4: And that would only happen if their DNA got into you.
- 22:34Speaker 4: So that makes you part roach. So you're you're half
- 22:39Speaker 4: roach now, and Tera needs to be aware.
- 22:44Speaker 1: These are also some of the same questions people asked
- 22:47Speaker 1: when they were high talking about Spider Man, like does
- 22:51Speaker 1: he lay eggs? M yeah, and Marvel has yet to
- 22:56Speaker 1: deal with that on on the film level.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 23:02Speaker 4: I think you should get the ooh do A twenty
- 23:05Speaker 4: three and me and see if you're a part roach now.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I don't know if I want to go to that reunion.
- 23:15Speaker 1: All that's going to be is just a road trip
- 23:17Speaker 1: through Florida, and I don't really want. I live in
- 23:21Speaker 1: the Everglades now, I think it's out, Like I keep
- 23:29Speaker 1: looking at the like, keep looking at my thumb. I'm
- 23:31Speaker 1: pretty sure it's not in there.
- 23:34Speaker 2: God, if you were gonna get bitten by a bat
- 23:36Speaker 2: right now, then you'd be double the fun.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I don't know if double the fun is exactly the
- 23:49Speaker 1: word I choose. I mean fun for you guys, maybe
- 23:52Speaker 1: because you know you're not infected by anything.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I just want to. I just want to see the
- 23:57Speaker 3: trailer for that movie. Who are you?
- 23:59Speaker 4: I'm somebody moved this drunk out of the way, the
- 24:09Speaker 4: worst origin story in history.
- 24:13Speaker 1: DC's really gone downhill?
- 24:22Speaker 6: Is that one?
- 24:23Speaker 1: Is that the surprise cameo the New Superman movie?
- 24:25Speaker 2: That roach? Well?
- 24:28Speaker 1: The other the other option is cock mad, So maybe
- 24:31Speaker 1: they did it right.
- 24:38Speaker 9: And You're in the tree House is online treuse on
- 24:43Speaker 9: air dot com. You're in the tree House listen is

- 25:13Speaker 1: the one with the square in the arrow, and send
- 25:16Speaker 1: the show to a friend. Because the tree house is open.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Let's grow. This is the Treehouse Show. I'm Daniel Mallley
- 25:22Speaker 1: along with Trade Trenholman, Rajsharma. Today's Wednesday, July ninth, two,
- 25:27Speaker 1: thy twenty five. Ah there is an eight year old
- 25:34Speaker 1: boy in Thailand who was recently discovered living among wild dogs.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He only communicates by barking after he was abandoned and
- 25:46Speaker 1: left with dogs by his drug addicted mother, and he's
- 25:50Speaker 1: been discovered by horrified authorities in Thailand. I don't see
- 25:57Speaker 1: this as such a horrible thing. I mean, this kid's
- 26:02Speaker 1: kind of got it pretty good. He just doesn't realize it.
- 26:05Speaker 1: He gets to live this simple life as a wild
- 26:10Speaker 1: dog in Thailand.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Yeah, you're still thinking they treat dogs like they treat
- 26:15Speaker 3: them here.
- 26:17Speaker 1: No, no, no, I know in different countries it's different.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But I like to think that the dog Boy of
- 26:22Speaker 1: Thailand is better off where he is than being subjected
- 26:27Speaker 1: to the rest of society. Who are we to say
- 26:30Speaker 1: that that's worse for him? He might be better off.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Yes, because you've heard of so many heartwarming stories about
- 26:35Speaker 4: the dog people of Southeast Asia.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Or are you thinking that as your new half roach,
- 26:45Speaker 2: half bat cockman character that you needed a sidekick dog Boy.
- 26:52Speaker 1: The thing that I'm worried about is if I did
- 26:54Speaker 1: try a team up with dog Boy, is that he
- 26:56Speaker 1: would be the lead and I'd be the side piece.
- 27:00Speaker 1: That's my fear.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Watch this.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Be an animated show on USA Up all Night if
- 27:11Speaker 1: that still existed. Adult Swim, it'll be on an Adult
- 27:15Speaker 1: Swim cartoon level.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yep.
- 27:16Speaker 1: An eight year old boy was found being raised by
- 27:18Speaker 1: dogs and only able to communicate by barking in Thailand,
- 27:24Speaker 1: where the child was found. The child has not been named.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Oh that means we get to have a name, Nate,
- 27:29Speaker 1: We get to have a naming contest for the dog
- 27:32Speaker 1: boy of Thailand. Any votes for Barkie mcbark face. Authorities
- 27:42Speaker 1: found him living with his mother and brother. Both were
- 27:45Speaker 1: reported to have tested positive for drugs. They say the
- 27:49Speaker 1: family been shunned by neighbors and the child never enrolled
- 27:52Speaker 1: at school, leaving him with no one except the six
- 27:54Speaker 1: dogs they shared the house with. He didn't speak, only barked.
- 28:00Speaker 6: Wow.
- 28:00Speaker 4: So now we can finally solve the age old thing
- 28:04Speaker 4: of like how do we know what dogs are saying?
- 28:08Speaker 4: Because this kid knows.
- 28:10Speaker 1: That's true. We just got to teach his kid English.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Yes, and then he tell us what the barks are.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Yeah, or just teach the kid how to speak human.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Yes, yeah.
- 28:22Speaker 4: If he could learn to speak, and then he could
- 28:24Speaker 4: be like, oh, that bark means that this is great.
- 28:26Speaker 4: This could be something huge and I yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 1: The boy was said to have only been to school once,
- 28:34Speaker 1: despite his mother receiving a stipend of around four hundred
- 28:38Speaker 1: bot for his study, which I guess is it says
- 28:41Speaker 1: nine pounds or whatever.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like eleven bucks.
- 28:45Speaker 1: His mother has not allowed him to go to school
- 28:47Speaker 1: since he received a subsidy for free education. After getting
- 28:50Speaker 1: the money, she simply kept him at home. Well, how
- 28:55Speaker 1: do we know that the one time he went to
- 28:56Speaker 1: school he didn't pee in a bunch of stuff and
- 28:58Speaker 1: got kicked.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Out pumping the teacher's leg.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Can't you can't do that here, son?
- 29:07Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 29:11Speaker 1: There are stories throughout time that people have told similar
- 29:15Speaker 1: to this. One is Tarzan, where you know this upper
- 29:20Speaker 1: crust English kid was left in the jungle and was
- 29:23Speaker 1: raised by apes.
- 29:26Speaker 7: Uh.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Then there's the other ones where we've heard about and
- 29:29Speaker 1: I think some of these may have some truth to them,
- 29:32Speaker 1: where human children were raised by wolves.
- 29:37Speaker 4: Right, I'm just trying to the logic in my head.
- 29:44Speaker 4: I'm like, how does what are they feeding him? Do
- 29:47Speaker 4: they take him for a walk?
- 29:49Speaker 2: Is he housebroken?
- 29:52Speaker 3: The one time he went to school that he learned
- 29:54Speaker 3: a sit?
- 29:57Speaker 1: It will It's gonna make for an excellent new commercial
- 30:01Speaker 1: for Sarah McLaughlin and the SPCA. We're going to be
- 30:05Speaker 1: a little confused at first. You're like, wait a minute,
- 30:08Speaker 1: it'sposed to be dogs, but now it's a kid.
- 30:12Speaker 4: That's I Feed the Children meets the spca M for
- 30:16Speaker 4: just thirty nine cents a day, you too can feed
- 30:20Speaker 4: the dog Boys of Thailand, which also sounds like a
- 30:25Speaker 4: great name for a.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Band, except boys is going to be in like parenthesis
- 30:32Speaker 1: like in quotes. Anyway, the headline was just very very striking.
- 30:40Speaker 1: An eight year old boy was found living with dogs
- 30:42Speaker 1: and the only way to communicate was by barking. So yeah,
- 30:45Speaker 1: when you when you hear about a story about the
- 30:46Speaker 1: dog boy of Thailand, it's it's definitely gonna stick out.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it was that. What's that black and white newspaper
- 30:53Speaker 3: that used to have News of the World? Is that
- 30:54Speaker 3: what it was called?
- 30:55Speaker 6: Uh?
- 30:56Speaker 3: Weekly World News Weekly World News that sounds like wait,
- 31:00Speaker 3: typically featured on the cover by which is.
- 31:05Speaker 4: It could be your name now dantoy and don Boy.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Well, if if bat Boy is flying around with a
- 31:11Speaker 1: big pencil with his name.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Didn't well know, just flying in circles constantly.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Social workers have intervened by the way to place the
- 31:25Speaker 1: boy in the children's home, hopefully a no kill one.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 31:46Speaker 6: You're in the Treehouse.
- 31:51Speaker 9: Listen us online at Treehouse on air dot com. You're

- 32:56Speaker 1: at the Sunday Funday Roadshow. This is the Treehouse Show.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I'm Dan, He's Trey. That is Raj Raj. What is
- 33:04Speaker 1: it you're kicking yourself about with that dog boy of Thailand.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Well, I mean it said he was he's eight years old,
- 33:10Speaker 3: but I just want to know how much that makes
- 33:11Speaker 3: him in dog years.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Oh well, see eight was it? Seven? Is supposed to
- 33:16Speaker 1: be the formula, So eight times.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Seven fifty fifty six. Okay.
- 33:21Speaker 1: You know we're all approaching fifty six years old. If
- 33:25Speaker 1: one day we break and decide to go live with
- 33:27Speaker 1: a bunch of dogs in Thailand, I'd understand it. But
- 33:32Speaker 1: they don't want eight year olds making that decisions for themselves.
- 33:35Speaker 1: But if we decide to do that, I'd understand it.
- 33:42Speaker 3: In Thailand.
- 33:43Speaker 2: No, then I'm gonna think there again, there's kind of
- 33:46Speaker 2: an issue there. You know, if you wanted to go
- 33:49Speaker 2: to Sarah McLoughlin's neighborhood and live like a dog, sure,
- 33:52Speaker 2: not yourself. I'm sure it's a pretty pretty cush gig.
- 33:57Speaker 1: That does make sense. That makes a lot more sense. Okay,
- 33:59Speaker 1: So if you want to be a dog man of
- 34:01Speaker 1: Santa Barbara, then I would certainly understand it.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Yes, like my my, my dogs eat better than me
- 34:08Speaker 4: and U. So if you want that, you have to
- 34:10Speaker 4: be here like in Thailand. No, I've been there, and
- 34:19Speaker 4: you don't want to be a dog there.
- 34:23Speaker 1: So yeah, that dog man of Santa Barbara sounds pretty good.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm sure you wouldn't be the first one.
- 34:28Speaker 1: There could be packs of strays everywhere, just living off
- 34:35Speaker 1: of scraps and stuff.
- 34:37Speaker 3: The beach is there, it's nice. People throw you some food.
- 34:40Speaker 3: This is great. I can see you out there day.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Warming to this idea. That was pretty good.
- 34:46Speaker 2: I mean, until you get that that oach part out
- 34:48Speaker 2: of your thumb, you probably should very well, maybe your existence.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I'll just nod off. Today is Wednesday, July and nine,
- 35:00Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. Let's celebrate today with some birthdays. Ah.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Georgie Hinley turns thirty today. Georgie Henley is thirty. Played
- 35:11Speaker 1: Lucy Pavinci in the Chronicles of Narnia movies and Meg
- 35:15Speaker 1: Tutor on the Stars series The Spanish Princess Fred Savage.
- 35:21Speaker 1: All right, are you guys ready for this one? Fred
- 35:24Speaker 1: Savage is forty nine to day, making us all feel
- 35:29Speaker 1: old because we're all about the same age as Fred Savage,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and that means we all remember Fred Savage from the
- 35:36Speaker 1: show Wonder Years and we all kind of grew up
- 35:38Speaker 1: with him, so this one hurts a bit. He's also
- 35:44Speaker 1: a grandson in The Princess Bride and the Mole in
- 35:47Speaker 1: Austin Powers.
- 35:48Speaker 3: In gold Member, didn't they try to reboot The Wonder Years.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Did they do that?
- 35:53Speaker 1: They did?
- 35:53Speaker 2: It was like the Black version of The Wonder Years.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Okay, it it was the Black version and set in
- 36:02Speaker 1: the nineties, I think, or was it the eighties or
- 36:05Speaker 1: sex I don't remember. I didn't watch it.
- 36:06Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I really don't know if there's really much of any
- 36:10Speaker 1: reboots I've really actually watched.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah, the reboot Dallas is really I mean, and that's sad.
- 36:20Speaker 3: That was it was really good. Yeah, I hate like, I.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Don't know, somewhere between fifteen and twenty years ago, but uh,
- 36:28Speaker 2: I guess that was about twenty and twenty eleven. Yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 2: I watched that. But yeah, as far as reboots in
- 36:36Speaker 2: general generally have been.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Crap, I'll watch I'll watch a movie that will be remade.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I'll watch that on occasion, depending on what it is
- 36:45Speaker 1: like right now. I just I just saw the trailer
- 36:48Speaker 1: for The Running Man starring Glenn Powell, and I loved
- 36:53Speaker 1: the first movie you know that came out in the
- 36:55Speaker 1: eighties with with Schwarzenegger. So I'm looking forward to I'll
- 37:00Speaker 1: see a remake of a movie. But the TV shows
- 37:03Speaker 1: not as much't really didn't really do much for me,
- 37:05Speaker 1: like the Total Recall remake with Colin I think it
- 37:09Speaker 1: was Colin Farrell. Eh, the one with Schwarzenegger was better.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I have high hopes though for this new Running Man
- 37:14Speaker 1: because it supposedly sticks closer to the source material from
- 37:17Speaker 1: Stephen King's original story.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Gotcha. And then the Dallas one was good. I remember that.
- 37:22Speaker 4: I watched that one that's got a fellow Mesquite kid
- 37:25Speaker 4: Miskiti and I don't know what we're called Josh Henderson
- 37:29Speaker 4: was from.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Did they do a Duke's at Hazard reboot or just
- 37:33Speaker 1: the movie?
- 37:35Speaker 3: Just the movie?
- 37:36Speaker 4: Okay, but that would be kind of cool to see
- 37:38Speaker 4: how they did that one fantasy island they did and
- 37:40Speaker 4: that wasn't great.
- 37:42Speaker 2: I think that one is kind of dark, wouldn't it.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yes, Now, I'm okay with a reimagining reboot, Like if
- 37:49Speaker 1: they want to do the Love Boat, but do it
- 37:51Speaker 1: something darker, I'm okay with that.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Just make it a carnival cruise that just just stops
- 37:58Speaker 4: it gets stranded at sea. The Chlamydia Cabin, Gilligan's Island
- 38:12Speaker 4: you couldn't do today, Like there's too much technology, right,
- 38:16Speaker 4: So I'm gonna be able to fix that boat in
- 38:17Speaker 4: an hour mm hm. But they did Magnum p I,
- 38:21Speaker 4: which I thought was awful. Then mcgiver that kind of
- 38:26Speaker 4: lasted for a minute.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Yes it did. That's right. I think that that did
- 38:31Speaker 1: kind of catch on again. Yeah, but again I didn't
- 38:33Speaker 1: watch it, so I don't know.
- 38:35Speaker 2: It was all CBS two I mean in that, I mean,
- 38:40Speaker 2: I mean and one it's supposed to be good with
- 38:43Speaker 2: Kathy Baits, Kathy Bates.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I may actually watch that because I'm a huge
- 38:46Speaker 1: fan of Kathy Baits.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, trust me, the CBS loves that stuff. Because
- 38:51Speaker 4: and I think I might have told this before. I've
- 38:53Speaker 4: been on there lot many a time. And when I
- 38:55Speaker 4: was the first time I went there, I was looking
- 38:57Speaker 4: for directions and they're like, what street are you on?
- 38:59Speaker 4: I was like, I'm at the corner of Gilligan's Island
- 39:01Speaker 4: and gun Smoke because that's what all the show in
- 39:04Speaker 4: the streets are named on the Radford lotter after their
- 39:06Speaker 4: TV shows.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Wow, you know you're right. It is CBS that reboots
- 39:10Speaker 1: all these old shows. And it kind of makes sense
- 39:12Speaker 1: because CBS is known for having the older demographic of
- 39:17Speaker 1: television viewers, so every twenty years they just remake whatever
- 39:22Speaker 1: show was hot twenty years ago, because the new generation
- 39:26Speaker 1: has moved into that age demographic that they're looking for.
- 39:30Speaker 1: So yeah, they'll do you know, Magnum p I again,
- 39:34Speaker 1: mcguiver and whatever, Matt Locke, because they know that we
- 39:39Speaker 1: watched our grandparents watch those shows, and then we're going
- 39:42Speaker 1: to watch those shows, partly for nostalgia and also because
- 39:45Speaker 1: we now identify with the old people.
- 39:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean, yeah, I guess, but we'll go
