- 0:07Speaker 1: I love the off season two list. We can continue
- 0:09Speaker 1: with the Houston Astros Today's team and Josh Reddick Pump
- 0:13Speaker 1: to join us right now. You can hear them on
- 0:14Speaker 1: Crush Shitty Territory, Best in the Biz in the Houston
- 0:17Speaker 1: Astros podcast world. So Josh, good to see you, dude.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Loving hearing you on the pod. Can you tell me
- 0:23Speaker 1: what you have as the top three on the checklist
- 0:26Speaker 1: for the Astros this offseason?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Man, guys, just thanks for having me just to start off.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Always love coming on here with you boys. Love the
- 0:33Speaker 2: conversation you were having with Buck, but we'll get to
- 0:35Speaker 2: that later. I'm looking starting pitching, reliable left handed bat
- 0:39Speaker 2: for that lineup, and then focus on runners in scoring position.
- 0:43Speaker 2: They had an awful time last season hitting with runners
- 0:46Speaker 2: in scoring position and that kind of connects to striking
- 0:49Speaker 2: out a lot more in baseball. So those are the
- 0:51Speaker 2: three things I'm focused on right now. If I'm the Astros, all.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Right, starting pitching, where are we going to go to? Here?
- 0:58Speaker 3: Are we going? Are we going deep into mister Crane's
- 1:02Speaker 3: bag of money?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Or does he ever do that?
- 1:06Speaker 3: He's done it. Astro fans need to understand he's done it.
- 1:11Speaker 3: He doesn't go deep deep into his bag except for
- 1:14Speaker 3: his except for his gods son Carlos Korea. He got
- 1:17Speaker 3: he brought him back. But is it going to be
- 1:20Speaker 3: like that, like one year fill it in because they
- 1:24Speaker 3: lost Framberg. They lost to do that Vega thirty two
- 1:27Speaker 3: starts every single year for them.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And eating innings. He was throwing a lot of innings
- 1:33Speaker 2: for that ball club too, whether he was giving up
- 1:35Speaker 2: zero or giving up five, he was still going like
- 1:37Speaker 2: seven strong for those guys. So you're not gonna get
- 1:40Speaker 2: a guy like fromber on this market. It's not. It's
- 1:43Speaker 2: just impossible. So you got to move past that and
- 1:46Speaker 2: you know, try to find maybe two guys. They just
- 1:49Speaker 2: sign the international contract for low money, so they're hoping
- 1:52Speaker 2: that's one option. But they still need a guy who's
- 1:55Speaker 2: gonna be front of that rotation, somebody who can help
- 1:57Speaker 2: Hunter Brown eat up innings and give them legit act
- 2:00Speaker 2: to back chances to win ball games. So I think
- 2:02Speaker 2: starting pitching, who it's gonna be is gonna be fun
- 2:04Speaker 2: to watch. These Winter meetings are gonna be a blast
- 2:07Speaker 2: with the way teams are gonna just you know, fire
- 2:09Speaker 2: sale or give up stuff and go buy stuff. But
- 2:11Speaker 2: I think Dylan C's signing has set the tone very
- 2:14Speaker 2: high for a lot of pictures that are gonna sit
- 2:17Speaker 2: back and wait and see what they can get.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Does he dip his toes in the trade market for
- 2:23Speaker 3: a higher level starting pitcher that like a Freddie Peralta
- 2:27Speaker 3: we heard Hunter Green's available, that is more in the
- 2:31Speaker 3: Jim Crane palatable price range, but still being able to say, Okay,
- 2:37Speaker 3: I'm able to replace Frambor with this and less cash.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we got, we got. We know that. You know,
- 2:44Speaker 2: trades are always possible no matter who you are in
- 2:46Speaker 2: this business, unless you're like Superstar five. So like hose
- 2:49Speaker 2: Al Twov is not getting traded. But when you look
- 2:51Speaker 2: at guys like you know, Jake Myers has been talked
- 2:53Speaker 2: about a lot I read, you know, just think Jesus
- 2:55Speaker 2: Sanchez is getting some looks now, so they're hoping maybe
- 2:59Speaker 2: to package something like that. But that's definitely something that's
- 3:02Speaker 2: always on the table for Jim Crane. It's like you
- 3:04Speaker 2: just mentioned, he loves doing that, and you know, we
- 3:06Speaker 2: we've seen him pass where crazier trades have happened. You know,
- 3:10Speaker 2: I recall the Lester for cessmentist trade that was so
- 3:13Speaker 2: crazy and mind blowing at the time. So anything is popped,
- 3:21Speaker 2: it really changes a lot of things.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Josh, the next thing on your list is left handed hitter. Well,
- 3:28Speaker 4: they have yourd on Alvarez. They traded for Sanchez, right,
- 3:31Speaker 4: There's a free agent they got rid of named Kyle Tucker.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I know they're not bringing him back, but he would
- 3:35Speaker 4: still look nice in so so I mean, is it
- 3:41Speaker 4: is it just though, just getting a full year out
- 3:43Speaker 4: of Alvarez? Like if you just throw him out there
- 3:45Speaker 4: for a full year and you let Sanchez be there
- 3:47Speaker 4: for a full year, there's two good left handed bats.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Obviously Alvarez can be one of the best hitters in baseball.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Will they go out and spend to get another one?
- 3:56Speaker 2: I think they've kind of almost seems like they've almost
- 3:59Speaker 2: set sail with the Hazers Sanchez experience. I don't know.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I think when he got traded, he kind of fell
- 4:04Speaker 2: off the face of the earth. So I don't know
- 4:05Speaker 2: if they're hanging on to him and if they're going
- 4:08Speaker 2: to move on from it, But it seems like they're
- 4:09Speaker 2: just they're trying to find a way to get out
- 4:11Speaker 2: of there, you know, maybe do a little bit more
- 4:13Speaker 2: salary dump like they did with the do bond swap,
- 4:16Speaker 2: to make something that they can, you know, kind of
- 4:18Speaker 2: offer more to a starting pitcher. I think that's something
- 4:20Speaker 2: that they will always be listening on if they can
- 4:23Speaker 2: make the right deal to give them a little bit
- 4:25Speaker 2: more zeros in the bank account to make things happen.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I think that Jim Crane will definitely pull that trigger.
- 4:30Speaker 2: And if they can get somebody to help support your
- 4:32Speaker 2: done in that lineup from the left hand side, I
- 4:34Speaker 2: think it makes his job a lot easier because they
- 4:36Speaker 2: are so reliant on right handers in that lineup.
- 4:40Speaker 3: All right hitting with runs and the scoring position. You
- 4:42Speaker 3: said it's kind of a strikeout issue. It's kind of
- 4:46Speaker 3: can it be taught to one player or in my opinion,
- 4:51Speaker 3: it's a full team approach, which it looked like without
- 4:54Speaker 3: your don I get it, it looked like the Astros
- 4:57Speaker 3: this year did not have the same team approach that
- 5:00Speaker 3: the great Astros teams.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Hat. Yeah, I think that's, you know, that's the team
- 5:06Speaker 2: philosophy you look. You look at bringing in a guy
- 5:08Speaker 2: like Victor Rodriguez, who's been very well known for contact
- 5:12Speaker 2: hitting and his career. I had him when I was
- 5:14Speaker 2: in the minors with the Red Sox. He was our
- 5:16Speaker 2: minor league hitting coordinator, and then that's what we were
- 5:18Speaker 2: preaching back in those days. And I know us older players,
- 5:21Speaker 2: you guys can agree with me, like not hitting with
- 5:23Speaker 2: runners and score position and putting the ball in play
- 5:25Speaker 2: is so disappointing at heart and heartbreaking when you strike
- 5:29Speaker 2: out to in the inning and you're walking back with
- 5:30Speaker 2: your head down. At least try to put something in play,
- 5:33Speaker 2: make something happen. I know this is you know, a
- 5:35Speaker 2: league wide problem, but I'm setting my old ways on
- 5:38Speaker 2: this one. Put the ball in play. You never know
- 5:40Speaker 2: what's going to happen because you got a way better
- 5:42Speaker 2: shot of getting that run in than you do striking out.
- 5:45Speaker 2: So the long ball don't always isn't always something you
- 5:48Speaker 2: can have to rely on.
- 5:50Speaker 3: You're not setting your ways, you're setting your winning ways.
- 5:52Speaker 3: It's not your old ways winning ways. How is that?
- 5:56Speaker 3: But how is that? Exe? How does that taunt? What
- 5:58Speaker 3: are some what are some things that you heard when
- 6:01Speaker 3: you were in the minor leagues of how okay, this
- 6:03Speaker 3: is how you this is how you execute you know,
- 6:07Speaker 3: in runners in scoring position. Dale Swayne twenty fifteen fourteen
- 6:11Speaker 3: and fifteen in Kansas City would always talk about the
- 6:14Speaker 3: team that elevates the ball to the opposite field with
- 6:17Speaker 3: runners in scoring position more than the rest drives in
- 6:22Speaker 3: more runs.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Kind of sick, I mean, but it's it's very simple.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I mean, it's literally it's old school, it's cliche. But
- 6:28Speaker 2: you shorten up. You have to choke up if you
- 6:30Speaker 2: have to, if you're comfortable that you shorten that stride
- 6:32Speaker 2: up beyond belief. All these high leg kicks and super
- 6:35Speaker 2: massive stretching to get behind the ball is great before
- 6:38Speaker 2: two strikes. But guys, you gotta slow it down. You
- 6:41Speaker 2: gotta just you gotta shoot that thing in that sixth hole.
- 6:44Speaker 2: You know is the left, you're shooting it over in
- 6:45Speaker 2: the sixth hole. If you're right, you're trying to shoot
- 6:47Speaker 2: the four hole. You're trying to get something that you
- 6:49Speaker 2: can get inside of and try to just squeeze one
- 6:51Speaker 2: in there. But I love that. The guys who can
- 6:53Speaker 2: lift that ball the other way, you're gonna do a
- 6:55Speaker 2: lot better. You look at the two teams this year
- 6:57Speaker 2: in the World Series, I mean, the Blue Jays were
- 7:00Speaker 2: struck out I think the least and had the best
- 7:02Speaker 2: team batting average in the league. And then obviously the
- 7:04Speaker 2: Dodgers are the Dodgers, and they do everything great because
- 7:06Speaker 2: they are the Dodgers. But you know, the two best
- 7:09Speaker 2: teams put the ball in play and look where it
- 7:11Speaker 2: got him, and it gave us one of the best
- 7:12Speaker 2: World Series we've seen in a very long time.
- 7:15Speaker 3: All Right, two things. One, I love Victor Rodriguez. I
- 7:18Speaker 3: had him in Boston. He was awesome. You still see
- 7:21Speaker 3: him in one.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Of my favorite coaches I ever had, just positive, great,
- 7:24Speaker 4: great guy to have as a hitting coach. And then
- 7:26Speaker 4: you mentioned one of the best World Series since a
- 7:29Speaker 4: certain time. Well, I'm going to go back to twenty seventeen.
- 7:31Speaker 4: It was a pretty good World Series. And I want
- 7:33Speaker 4: to and I just want to know this. It was
- 7:36Speaker 4: a great World Series. I just I've for some reason
- 7:39Speaker 4: on my Instagram feed it has been you and talking
- 7:42Speaker 4: about the twenty seventeen World Series and the whole run
- 7:45Speaker 4: and everything that happened, right, And you're the first guy
- 7:48Speaker 4: I've seen talk about it on that team, like there
- 7:51Speaker 4: hasn't been one other guy bringing up And you have
- 7:53Speaker 4: your opinion of why Mike Fires did it and why.
- 7:56Speaker 4: But to me, I just want to give you kudos
- 7:58Speaker 4: for talking about it. Like whatever you want to say
- 8:00Speaker 4: on here is great, But you're the only guy I've
- 8:02Speaker 4: seen even met like no everyone else, like I don't
- 8:04Speaker 4: want to talk about it.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I don't want to talk about it.
- 8:05Speaker 2: So thank you for saying something.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Mike Fires, I know you from playing against you, but like,
- 8:11Speaker 4: thank you for saying something about it, because at least
- 8:14Speaker 4: now we kind of have an idea what was going on.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So thank you. Yeah, I mean, you know, it's public knowledge,
- 8:19Speaker 2: So I mean, at this point, it's not something that
- 8:22Speaker 2: I'm trying to run away from, and it's it's a
- 8:25Speaker 2: part of us as players. You know, it's something that happened,
- 8:27Speaker 2: So why try to ignore something that happened. And you know,
- 8:31Speaker 2: all these fans and whoever's in listening commenting, you know,
- 8:34Speaker 2: I'll tell you to the day I die, and I
- 8:36Speaker 2: did not use it. I'm one of the guys that
- 8:38Speaker 2: did not use the system. Meow, Tuv and Tony Kemp
- 8:41Speaker 2: are the three guys who didn't even think about using it.
- 8:44Speaker 2: And that's not even coming from me as a direct source. First,
- 8:47Speaker 2: like Carlos Korea came out and said it the day
- 8:49Speaker 2: after we went with met with the media that spring
- 8:51Speaker 2: training of twenty twenty. So it's not like I'm making
- 8:54Speaker 2: stuff up. It's been proven that. You know, people are
- 8:56Speaker 2: gonna be biased, and I get it, Like I had
- 8:58Speaker 2: over three hundred for the only time in my career.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I had the highest ops in my career. Like, all
- 9:03Speaker 2: these numbers add up. But yeah, you know what, you know,
- 9:05Speaker 2: how many fastballs I got hitting between George Springer and
- 9:08Speaker 2: Jose Altuve. A lot easier to hit when you get
- 9:11Speaker 2: a lot of fastballs with the World Series MVP and
- 9:14Speaker 2: the League in MVP hitting behind you. So Josh Reddick
- 9:18Speaker 2: did not cheat, Josh Raich did not use it. So
- 9:20Speaker 2: you guys can keep talking all the crap you want
- 9:22Speaker 2: to out there. It doesn't affect me one bit. I
- 9:25Speaker 2: love it. I feed off of it.
- 9:29Speaker 3: All right. So does that affect Carlos Beltron's Hall of
- 9:33Speaker 3: Fame status? Because in my opinion, it probably wasn't the
- 9:36Speaker 3: first time he ever did it, but he's still a
- 9:39Speaker 3: really good player. So what, like, should people be up
- 9:43Speaker 3: in arms about that kind of stuff?
- 9:45Speaker 2: No, I mean I don't think so. If anybody knows
- 9:47Speaker 2: how great of a human being Carlos Beltron is anyway,
- 9:50Speaker 2: you're rooting for him and you're cheering for me, and
- 9:52Speaker 2: he obviously deserves that, and something like this can't, in
- 9:55Speaker 2: my opinion, can't be a red flag for something like that,
- 9:58Speaker 2: just like you know, you look at the guys the Bonds,
- 10:00Speaker 2: the Roger Clemens and all these guys, like it's kind
- 10:02Speaker 2: of the same category when you look into it, like
- 10:05Speaker 2: you know, there there's that what if factor in this
- 10:07Speaker 2: little you know, etch on their on their career. But
- 10:10Speaker 2: you know what, it doesn't take away the fact that
- 10:12Speaker 2: the numbers they put up even before that. And you
- 10:15Speaker 2: can't really let one year or two years solidify that
- 10:18Speaker 2: because this guy had a Hall of Fame career before
- 10:20Speaker 2: this was even talked about, and you know, this was
- 10:23Speaker 2: something at the end of his career, before he was
- 10:25Speaker 2: or after he was out of his prime and did
- 10:27Speaker 2: miraculous things that you know, players have dreamed about doing
- 10:30Speaker 2: in their career. So no, I don't think so.
- 10:33Speaker 4: All right, So then Jose wait, JOSEL two. They we
- 10:35Speaker 4: have a lot of Yankee fans that work here. Jose
- 10:38Speaker 4: two didn't have a wire on him buzzing his chest.
- 10:43Speaker 2: That is the most ridiculous. Listen, that's the.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. So, I mean, if
- 10:48Speaker 4: he did, gosh, that's awesome, but I can't believe it,
- 10:51Speaker 4: and he would be the only one like, gosh, dang,
- 10:54Speaker 4: that's that's unbelieved.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Guys. But if and it sounds it sounds crazy. But
- 10:57Speaker 2: if you've ever seen this tattoo that how he had
- 11:00Speaker 2: on his chest, it was the worst tattoo I've ever
- 11:02Speaker 2: seen done. And so that that was one that was
- 11:05Speaker 2: one reason he didn't taken And his wife didn't appreciate
- 11:07Speaker 2: the tattoo anyway and didn't want him showing his chest,
- 11:09Speaker 2: so he respected her wishes of not you know, being
- 11:12Speaker 2: being half naked out there. For me, I probably would
- 11:15Speaker 2: have ripped everything off. If I'm looking at it, you know,
- 11:17Speaker 2: I hit that ball like that, I probably don't come
- 11:19Speaker 2: around home plate. But nothing but sliders on. So credit
- 11:22Speaker 2: to him for you know, keeping it, keeping it real
- 11:24Speaker 2: and keeping his emotions. But a buzzer. Guys, come on,
- 11:26Speaker 2: everybody listening, Yankees. You get beat by him every year
- 11:29Speaker 2: you're in the postseason. Let it go.
- 11:34Speaker 3: I like it. I like it all right, last.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Thing on this and then we're gonna go to something
- 11:37Speaker 4: else that you've also brought up.
- 11:39Speaker 3: But Mike Fires was the guy who did it? Why why?
- 11:42Speaker 4: I mean, I've seen what you said about losing his
- 11:44Speaker 4: rotation spot. But has anyone any of your twenty seventeen
- 11:48Speaker 4: team actually asked him?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Has anyone do you guys? Does anybody still speak to him?
- 11:52Speaker 4: I mean how, Because there's an old thing in baseball,
- 11:54Speaker 4: as you know, what happens in the clubhouse stays in
- 11:56Speaker 4: the clubhouse. You know, we all know that, But things
- 11:58Speaker 4: get out, things get lead whatever. But does anyone actually
- 12:01Speaker 4: talked to Mike Fires and said why?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Dude? I mean, I have it. He was not a
- 12:06Speaker 2: guy I talked to anyway when I was at the field.
- 12:08Speaker 2: We weren't of the best of terms when I signed there,
- 12:11Speaker 2: didn't really appreciate him before, and then he showed us
- 12:14Speaker 2: true colors when the Justin Burlander trade happened. But no,
- 12:18Speaker 2: I don't know if anybody really truly did ask him,
- 12:20Speaker 2: And if they did, they didn't tell me or other
- 12:22Speaker 2: people about it. So will we ever know why he
- 12:25Speaker 2: did it? No, he probably never admit that. But you know,
- 12:27Speaker 2: when you play with a guy and you see the
- 12:29Speaker 2: things that are setting text conversations about acquiring the best
- 12:33Speaker 2: picture in baseball. You know, it's kind of it's kind
- 12:36Speaker 2: of upsetting when you're when you're trying to go out
- 12:38Speaker 2: there and win it all and you're already one of
- 12:39Speaker 2: the better teams in baseball. Then you get a guy
- 12:42Speaker 2: like Justin Berlander to your rotation. You're getting mad about it.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Like I've told this story many times, and I tell
- 12:48Speaker 2: my friends and guys like, look, if I could compare that,
- 12:50Speaker 2: I'd be like somebody like me losing their job to
- 12:53Speaker 2: Mike Trout in his prime, and I'd be like, I'm
- 12:57Speaker 2: gonna be mad about that. Like, bro, go get me
- 13:00Speaker 2: a World Series ring. I'm good, Like I'll be the
- 13:02Speaker 2: man top step high five and every time you.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Go deep, Yeah, but what are we doing.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Like be a team that's just not a team guy,
- 13:10Speaker 2: Like that's just not being a team guy. And like
- 13:14Speaker 2: you said, that's a brotherhood that you've brought. Not only broken.
- 13:17Speaker 2: You know, former teammates trust you're broken. Guys that don't
- 13:20Speaker 2: even know you were played against you trust, Like it's
- 13:22Speaker 2: just not just so. I hope he's he's happy he
- 13:24Speaker 2: did it. I don't know if he's what he's doing nowadays,
- 13:27Speaker 2: but you know, good for him, I guess he can
- 13:29Speaker 2: sleep better at night.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Yeah, whatever, All right, So now you fired up, you
- 13:36Speaker 4: fired up Yankee fans, you got Houston fans fired up.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Now we're gonna go to the Dodgers. All right, let's
- 13:41Speaker 4: do said Yamamoto. Yamamoto wasn't worth it. Every Dodger fit
- 13:46Speaker 4: in our chat is reddick if Yamamoto was worth it. Now,
- 13:50Speaker 4: like nobody knew what this guy was gonna be. So
- 13:52Speaker 4: you gave your opinion.
- 13:54Speaker 3: We all give our opinion.
- 13:55Speaker 2: We're wrong sometimes we are. I've been wrong, so I'd
- 13:59Speaker 2: say that, I'd say it. I'd say it tomorrow if
- 14:01Speaker 2: somebody else signed for that much money. But you know what,
- 14:03Speaker 2: I was wrong on this one. I've said it on
- 14:06Speaker 2: our podcast with Chandler and Tyler Stafford. So it's like
- 14:09Speaker 2: I've said it, but you know what here it is.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I was wrong, Like you said, it's an opinion. I
- 14:13Speaker 2: had it. Opinion was wrong for that time. He's obviously
- 14:16Speaker 2: a very, very very talented picture. We saw what he
- 14:19Speaker 2: could do in the postseason, he saw what he could
- 14:21Speaker 2: do in the regular season. So I tip my cap
- 14:23Speaker 2: to him. He's obviously very good. I was wrong. Dodgers
- 14:25Speaker 2: fans do I apologize, probably not, but good for him.
- 14:29Speaker 2: He's a great picture. I'm glad I don't have to
- 14:30Speaker 2: face him because that splitter is terrifying. And good for
- 14:35Speaker 2: he had a fantastic World Series. Man, even with my
- 14:37Speaker 2: opinion being wrong, it was so fun to watch him
- 14:40Speaker 2: put on the show.
- 14:42Speaker 3: With what he did in this World Series. His last year,
- 14:44Speaker 3: he was hurt for part of the year. Is the
- 14:47Speaker 3: contract worth it? We always have this question, and is
- 14:51Speaker 3: the three and twenty five million for twelve years? I
- 14:55Speaker 3: think Scott will remind me if I'm wrong, But is
- 14:59Speaker 3: it worth it if this this series sets him back,
- 15:04Speaker 3: or you know it's just the one good year, one
- 15:08Speaker 3: World Series championship. I know he wants the money.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the both sides of the thing where things
- 15:14Speaker 2: are still funny because it's such a long term contract.
- 15:17Speaker 2: You know, is this one year gonna be everything he's
- 15:20Speaker 2: gotten in the in the tank? Who knows. We'll just
- 15:22Speaker 2: have to wait and find out. But if you're looking
- 15:24Speaker 2: at a Dodgers team who has no problem spending this money,
- 15:26Speaker 2: deferring this money, which I love. By the way, I
- 15:29Speaker 2: will say that Dodgers aren't ruining baseball. I love it.
- 15:32Speaker 2: If you want to win, go pay for the win anyway.
- 15:35Speaker 2: So if it's you know, three years from now and
- 15:38Speaker 2: he's you know, even three quarters of what he was now,
- 15:41Speaker 2: like absolutely one hundred percent worth it. But if I'm
- 15:43Speaker 2: the Dodgers, one year of this, for what he's done
- 15:45Speaker 2: for that ball club is already worth it to me
- 15:47Speaker 2: because we're not worried about money. We're gonna find our
- 15:50Speaker 2: ways to win. And I feel like this is something
- 15:51Speaker 2: that if they can manage his breaks like they've done
- 15:56Speaker 2: that year and then use him like they did in
- 15:58Speaker 2: the postseason, he's obviously got that dog getting saw that,
- 16:01Speaker 2: but you know, resting him up and do right with
- 16:03Speaker 2: with with pitching in the regular season because that lineup
- 16:06Speaker 2: is going to give you a pretty good run support
- 16:08Speaker 2: more often than they're not going to. So he should
- 16:10Speaker 2: have plenty of arrest to be able to do this
- 16:12Speaker 2: year in year out and make it at some point,
- 16:15Speaker 2: hopefully at one point for them and underpay for them.
- 16:18Speaker 2: That's what they're kind of hoping for you. If he
- 16:19Speaker 2: could continue to do this, it's going to be an
- 16:21Speaker 2: underpay for what they got out of you.
- 16:23Speaker 4: He's been great, so far, so good, all right, before
- 16:25Speaker 4: we let you go, you have your you have your
- 16:27Speaker 4: gold glove behind you, right, which.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Is cool and all. I mean I got so I gotta,
- 16:30Speaker 2: I gotta.
- 16:31Speaker 4: I got a silver bat that Scott made me take
- 16:33Speaker 4: out of my house, so I can't show that off anymore.
- 16:35Speaker 4: But because I have a silver back, because I was
- 16:38Speaker 4: good one year.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:39Speaker 2: But before we let you go, body make a ticket.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I know you're a wrestling fan, so I just want
- 16:44Speaker 4: to know how jealous you are of this belt?
- 16:47Speaker 2: Oh wait, my bad wait or this belt?
- 16:51Speaker 4: Oh wait, sorry, I only got two arms, but what
- 16:53Speaker 4: about this.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Belt that I all want? That I want all in
- 16:56Speaker 2: the ring? I know somebody that.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Has never been in the ring.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Actually, like, how mad are you that I got three
- 17:02Speaker 4: belts from actually going into the ring.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I've been in the ring. I've never competed in it,
- 17:08Speaker 2: So we're gonna make that clear, real real fu.
- 17:10Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, anyone could walk into but I've actually
- 17:13Speaker 4: fought ring.
- 17:15Speaker 2: No, how sick, super jealous, and I'm jealous of the
- 17:17Speaker 2: raid at our superstar belt, the Edge one.
- 17:20Speaker 4: I don't have this one personally given to me, the
- 17:25Speaker 4: Center belt and in the in the prime of his heel,
- 17:27Speaker 4: run the prime run and then obviously e c W
- 17:31Speaker 4: given to me by Tommy Dreamer.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Oh the dream right dream, Last.
- 17:38Speaker 4: But not least, this is a real one X division
- 17:42Speaker 4: won it in the ring. A beat the crap out
- 17:45Speaker 4: of Diamond Diamond, and then David Eckstein tried to take
- 17:48Speaker 4: it and I beat the crap out of him just
- 17:49Speaker 4: for fun because he's a little fellow.
- 17:51Speaker 2: And that that's that was no challenge, no him but him.
- 17:56Speaker 4: And so the best part about that, Josha love this
- 17:58Speaker 4: is when we decided to do this whole thing with Steyn,
- 18:00Speaker 4: his brother Rick, who now is the coach of Team USA,
- 18:03Speaker 4: and it was my bullpen coach back when I was
- 18:05Speaker 4: with the Bullpen Catcher. Sorry, when I was with the Twins.
- 18:08Speaker 4: We couldn't touch David, so we had to beat up
- 18:10Speaker 4: Rick instead. So David put his brother Rick as for.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Us to beat up.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yes, it all came back and bit him right in
- 18:18Speaker 2: the butt.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 4: So anyways, I know you're a big wrestling fan. So
- 18:22Speaker 4: what happens in Sena Sena's last match?
- 18:26Speaker 2: I mean, they always let the guy loose to retire,
- 18:29Speaker 2: but he's already been so well adamant about retiring with
- 18:32Speaker 2: when he's going to retire, He's got to walk off
- 18:34Speaker 2: with a win, right, He's got to be the guy
- 18:35Speaker 2: that walks off with that win because it was so
- 18:38Speaker 2: expected for him to be gone from wrestling. So, uh,
- 18:41Speaker 2: it's going to be emotional. Man, I can't wait to
- 18:43Speaker 2: watch it. You know, I've been through ups and downs
- 18:47Speaker 2: with Scene. I hated him at first because when he
- 18:49Speaker 2: came up, man, he was the hottest thing on the planet.
- 18:51Speaker 2: And now you know, I was I have a Triple
- 18:52Speaker 2: H guy, always been a Triple H guy. And he
- 18:55Speaker 2: was beating Triple H left and right for the title
- 18:57Speaker 2: and title defenses in his prime. He returned it Rumble
- 19:00Speaker 2: to eliminate Triple As to win the Rumble that year
- 19:02Speaker 2: after the you know, the peck injury came back early.
- 19:05Speaker 2: So we've gone through ups and downs. John, I met him,
- 19:07Speaker 2: you know, I met him when I played for Boston.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I've got to, you know, be very fortunate. The Triple
- 19:13Speaker 2: H has allowed me to be backstage whenever we come
- 19:15Speaker 2: to shows and you know, hang out in the food room.
- 19:17Speaker 2: So I've met wrestlers day in and day out, and
- 19:19Speaker 2: John just coming up and meeting me and knowing who
- 19:21Speaker 2: I was was fun. So now I had nothing to
- 19:23Speaker 2: do but to cheer for him, and uh, it's it's
- 19:25Speaker 2: it's gonna be emotional. Will I cry? Maybe maybe not,
- 19:28Speaker 2: we'll see, but it'll be a great sind off for
- 19:30Speaker 2: John Cena either way.
- 19:32Speaker 3: All Right, So I got to tell you the story.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I know we got to go.
- 19:35Speaker 4: But so on Saturday, I was at the Florida Florida
- 19:37Speaker 4: State game, right, and I was down on the field
- 19:38Speaker 4: and Titus O'Neill, you know, go dogs, Yeah whatever.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Anyways, we're not gonna talking about that.
- 19:44Speaker 4: But Titus O'Neill was down there, and I was with
- 19:48Speaker 4: my son and a friend of his and another buddy
- 19:50Speaker 4: of mine. And so he says, he goes up to
- 19:52Speaker 4: Titus O'Neill he may or may not have had some
- 19:54Speaker 4: alcoholic beverages, and he goes He's about six foot one seventy, right,
- 19:58Speaker 4: Titus O'Neil's like sixty five two eight.
- 20:00Speaker 2: He just looks at him and goes, he goes, what's up?
- 20:02Speaker 2: He goes, what's your workout program?
- 20:04Speaker 3: Like? What what do you do in the gym? It
- 20:07Speaker 3: was the funniest.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, massive, massive title.
- 20:15Speaker 3: It was one of you way off subject. But anyways,
- 20:17Speaker 3: it was hilarious.
- 20:18Speaker 2: No, I love that, I love I love wresting stories.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Yeah, just just what do you do in the gym, bro? Uh?
- 20:25Speaker 3: Not what you're doing clearly.
- 20:27Speaker 1: A lot, how time, a lot more than you bud
- 20:30Speaker 1: get out of here. That question in general, when you
- 20:34Speaker 1: get the like, oh, what's your workout plan? Like, if
- 20:37Speaker 1: someone can answer that in a sentence or two, you
- 20:39Speaker 1: probably don't want them answering that for you.
- 20:43Speaker 2: There's a little tip you don't. You don't have the
- 20:45Speaker 2: dedication that those guys have. Yeah, they're on another planet.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Uh dude.
- 20:50Speaker 1: This was awesome, so great to catch on with you.
- 20:52Speaker 1: We love having you on, We love listening across city territory.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Keep doing your thing.
- 20:55Speaker 2: We'll get you back soon. A right, good to see
- 20:57Speaker 2: you sound good, guys, Thanks for having me.
