- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Fata Bridges of the podcast, part of
- 0:11Speaker 1: the Volume Podcast Network. I am Chad Millman of the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Action Network. This week, my co host, my companion, my compadre,
- 0:18Speaker 1: my BFF professional betters. Simon Hunter is still on they cation.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Yuck ended up with his relatives in Northern England, getting
- 0:28Speaker 1: his accent permanently on. But and the NBA season just
- 0:33Speaker 1: wrapped up, and it was thrilling, and it was exciting,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and it was awesome, and it was heartbreaking, and we're
- 0:40Speaker 1: wondering if we've crowned a dynasty. We're wondering how long
- 0:44Speaker 1: before Tyrese Halliburton comes back. But because the ANBA season
- 0:51Speaker 1: has mastered the month of June and into July, we
- 0:56Speaker 1: got so much good NBA stuff to talk about. NBA Draft.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Wednesday night, I'm joined by two of Action Network's finest
- 1:07Speaker 1: to discuss the NBA Draft. The event serves as the
- 1:10Speaker 1: official kickoff of the NBA offseason, the prelude to the
- 1:14Speaker 1: NBA Free agenc Madness to come from Action Networks NBA
- 1:19Speaker 1: Betting podcast Buckets. Welcome to the show, Brandon Anderson and
- 1:24Speaker 1: Brian Fonseca. Brian, I feel like you're making your maiden
- 1:27Speaker 1: voyage on the Favorites.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I definitely am. This is the first time that I'm here,
- 1:33Speaker 2: happy to be here, obviously, just wish it was after
- 1:36Speaker 2: a better Game seven.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I mean, it was a bummer. The Pacers made it
- 1:40Speaker 1: as much of a game as they could. That everything
- 1:44Speaker 1: about that Tyrese Haliburton images heartbreaking, and I think it's
- 1:48Speaker 1: going to stick with everybody in the finals. Brandon like
- 1:53Speaker 1: watching that game. I mean, we should do a quick
- 1:55Speaker 1: two minute recap just because it was. I never thought
- 2:01Speaker 1: that Pacers had a chance, but they've been so dynamic
- 2:05Speaker 1: and so such fighters all off season. Right up until
- 2:10Speaker 1: they were blown out, I thought they had a chance,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and I thought Oklahoma City was starting to sort of
- 2:17Speaker 1: spit the bit a little bit.
- 2:18Speaker 3: It felt like we were literally like two three minutes
- 2:21Speaker 3: away from like you know, you know, it's the middle
- 2:24Speaker 3: of the third quarter, and the Pacers are still right
- 2:26Speaker 3: in this thing, and like right about as we were
- 2:30Speaker 3: gonna get like it was gonna flip totally to like,
- 2:32Speaker 3: you cannot blow this, Oklahoma City, You're the favorite, You're
- 2:36Speaker 3: at home in Game seven, Halliburn's.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Out, you can't blow this.
- 2:41Speaker 3: And then they didn't blow it. But we were like
- 2:42Speaker 3: three minutes away. It felt like from you know, I
- 2:45Speaker 3: think Oklahoma City had like a nine to zero run
- 2:47Speaker 3: and kind of ripped it open. If that round goes
- 2:49Speaker 3: the other way, if the Pacers just hit a couple
- 2:51Speaker 3: of threes and get a stop or two, I don't know.
- 2:55Speaker 3: We'll never know what would have happened. It sucks that
- 2:59Speaker 3: Tarrey's Halliburn the lasting image will have is of him
- 3:02Speaker 3: on the floor.
- 3:03Speaker 4: In that way.
- 3:03Speaker 3: There's so many images of Haliburn in these playoffs. We
- 3:07Speaker 3: got the choke image, we got the game winner in
- 3:10Speaker 3: Game one image, so many awesome moments, and it just
- 3:15Speaker 3: it's a terrible outcome both ways because we don't get
- 3:18Speaker 3: to see the payoff for the Cinderella Pacers thing, and
- 3:22Speaker 3: it kind of takes away from what it feels like
- 3:24Speaker 3: the thunder accomplished as like just an obvious not for me,
- 3:29Speaker 3: but an obvious asterisk. He sort of situation like, ah, well,
- 3:32Speaker 3: you know, the star got hurt. So you can just
- 3:35Speaker 3: smell the storyline coming where we kind of have to
- 3:38Speaker 3: talk down both sides of the equation.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Now disagree the bumber to finish.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Disagree, Brian, I completely disagree with just the latter part
- 3:47Speaker 1: of what Brandon said. I don't take anything away from
- 3:50Speaker 1: the Thunder. The Thunder very well might have won that game.
- 3:53Speaker 1: They were in that game. Tyre's Halliburton had not been
- 3:55Speaker 1: that effective in the game. When he came back from
- 3:58Speaker 1: the right calf strain, he was to play well. But
- 4:01Speaker 1: I don't believe that there is any asterisk on this
- 4:05Speaker 1: team at all. I thought, and I want your take
- 4:08Speaker 1: on that, but I actually thought Brandon was going to
- 4:10Speaker 1: say now in an East that to me was entirely
- 4:14Speaker 1: up for grabs going into next year, and the Pacers
- 4:17Speaker 1: looking like they could be really confident Eastern Conference defending
- 4:21Speaker 1: champions and possibly the favorites to win that conference. Now
- 4:28Speaker 1: that's up in the air. We don't get to see
- 4:29Speaker 1: the follow up of this team that grew and figured
- 4:32Speaker 1: out who they were and came together and was so
- 4:34Speaker 1: competitive and started to develop like a real reputation and
- 4:37Speaker 1: a fan base. That's what I'm bummed I don't get
- 4:40Speaker 1: to see the next year. But Brian agree or disagree. Yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't think Brandon Adderson is wrong and Chad Milman
- 4:48Speaker 1: is right.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I don't think this is an asterisk. No, Look, it's
- 4:53Speaker 2: a bummer, right, because for me, it's like Oklahoma City
- 4:56Speaker 2: was the best team from start to finish, So them
- 4:59Speaker 2: winning the title, it's something that everyone should be okay with,
- 5:02Speaker 2: like they were the best team, but we were still
- 5:06Speaker 2: rob of what looked like it was going to be
- 5:09Speaker 2: a fantastic Game seven. I don't know if Indiana would
- 5:12Speaker 2: have won, but like I entertained the possibility when I
- 5:15Speaker 2: saw Tyre's Halliburton make two threes from like thirty plus
- 5:18Speaker 2: feet out and score nine points within seven minutes and
- 5:22Speaker 2: have the Pacers go on an early run, and it
- 5:24Speaker 2: was like, oh, we had been saying on buckets leading
- 5:27Speaker 2: up to this, like this is the one team on
- 5:30Speaker 2: the road in a Game seven where they're the most
- 5:32Speaker 2: defiant team in the NBA and you have to look
- 5:34Speaker 2: at them and be like, yeah, they have a real
- 5:36Speaker 2: shot here because they just don't care about how they're
- 5:39Speaker 2: perceived or they're underdogs, or they shouldn't be here and
- 5:41Speaker 2: all these different things like that's how they got here
- 5:43Speaker 2: to begin with.
- 5:44Speaker 5: So to see it and like that was just disheartening.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I just wish it ended differently because I think, you know,
- 5:49Speaker 2: for the sake of like just basketball in the NBA Finals,
- 5:52Speaker 2: like we were about to see something.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Special, like a special finish.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Oklahoma City still might have won, that could have been
- 5:57Speaker 2: the case, but Tyre's Halliburton was like on a tear
- 6:01Speaker 2: early on and then he got hurt, like just on
- 6:03Speaker 2: that play. Three ruptured achilles in the playoffs, two to
- 6:08Speaker 2: star players. Which is another thing that we can potentially
- 6:11Speaker 2: get to because I have some I have some thoughts,
- 6:13Speaker 2: probably not a little bit of them on whether or not,
- 6:16Speaker 2: you know, this should affect how we look at NBA
- 6:18Speaker 2: seasons and whether or not they should be shortened. But ultimately,
- 6:22Speaker 2: like I thought, we were robbed of what would have
- 6:23Speaker 2: been a great finish, and Indiana, to Brandon's point, did
- 6:27Speaker 2: have like there was a window there in the third quarter,
- 6:29Speaker 2: but you know, they just didn't have enough. Ultimately, TJ.
- 6:33Speaker 2: McConnell could only take you.
- 6:34Speaker 1: But so far, Meanwhile, within the span of twelve hours,
- 6:40Speaker 1: we all of a sudden have so much to talk
- 6:43Speaker 1: about regarding any early leans for potential title matchups, potential
- 6:50Speaker 1: Western Conference finals or Western Conference champions, Eastern Conference champions.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Let's talk about the East for a minute. Halliburton probably
- 7:00Speaker 1: not going to play next year, Dame probably not going
- 7:03Speaker 1: to play next year, Giannis, who knows where is going
- 7:06Speaker 1: to be, But the Bucks are clearly diminished. Tatum probably
- 7:10Speaker 1: not going to play next year. The Celtics, they were
- 7:13Speaker 1: already going to change their roster last week, the Magic
- 7:19Speaker 1: make the trade with the Memphis Grizzlies for Baine, and
- 7:23Speaker 1: now all of a sudden, people are legitimately talking about
- 7:26Speaker 1: the Magic as being one of those teams that could
- 7:29Speaker 1: be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. Obviously
- 7:32Speaker 1: Daris Garland coming back from his toe surgery will be better,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and that team was diminished in the playoffs. What do
- 7:39Speaker 1: we do here? How do we handicap the Eastern Conference
- 7:42Speaker 1: right now when the teams that could have had the
- 7:45Speaker 1: best chance to win are now playing without their best players.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Yeah, the favorites going into yesterday, we had basically co favorites,
- 7:53Speaker 3: three co favorites. I've never quite seen that in the NBA.
- 7:55Speaker 3: That's not how the NBA rolls with three co favorites.
- 7:58Speaker 3: It was Calvs, it was Paid, it was Knicks, and
- 8:01Speaker 3: Jim Turvey and I on Buckets did a podcast on
- 8:04Speaker 3: already kind of a look ahead to next year's conference finals.
- 8:07Speaker 3: We disagreed that the Knicks were in the triumvert of favorites.
- 8:09Speaker 3: We feel like the Knicks, they're a coach right now, Like,
- 8:12Speaker 3: let's see what the Knicks put together first, who will
- 8:15Speaker 3: put them in the mix? I do think the Calves
- 8:17Speaker 3: are the correct favorites. I know that they came up
- 8:19Speaker 3: short this year. I know that they fell, But shouldn't
- 8:22Speaker 3: we think about them losing the Pacers a little differently
- 8:25Speaker 3: now a month later after how good the Pacers have been.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Maybe not so embarrassing for a one seed Calves to
- 8:30Speaker 3: lose to that Pacers team. To me, you know we're
- 8:34Speaker 3: gonna naturally look down the list and say, okay, well
- 8:35Speaker 3: the Magic they got their new star, they had their trade.
- 8:38Speaker 3: They're the next young team to make the leap. How
- 8:40Speaker 3: about the Pistons. You know they were right there with
- 8:42Speaker 3: the Knicks in the first round. Maybe they're the team
- 8:45Speaker 3: to make the leap. For me, I don't necessarily want
- 8:48Speaker 3: an incremental growth from one of the young teams. Maybe
- 8:51Speaker 3: it will just be that I'd almost rather take a
- 8:54Speaker 3: shot if I'm gonna, you know, play a future this
- 8:56Speaker 3: far out, I'd rather take a shot at a wrap
- 9:00Speaker 3: or a blank canvas nets roster of just like somebody
- 9:04Speaker 3: that's like, hey, you know what those guys are.
- 9:06Speaker 4: The favorites talked about the blank canvas in the East.
- 9:08Speaker 4: We see that too.
- 9:09Speaker 3: How about we just go make a big move, Let's
- 9:11Speaker 3: make a splash. We weren't really trying to win right now,
- 9:14Speaker 3: but this conference is eminently winnable. Let's let's put our
- 9:18Speaker 3: chips in and go make a move. And maybe that's
- 9:20Speaker 3: Devin Booker now that the Suns are in a rebuilding mode.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Maybe it is Giannis on a new team, maybe he
- 9:25Speaker 3: stays in the East, Janis on whatever team in the
- 9:28Speaker 3: East with not Dame Lillard's Achilles. I'm interested, Like, give
- 9:32Speaker 3: me anybody, literally, any teammate to Yanis. Then that's not
- 9:36Speaker 3: Kyle Kuzma, to be clear, a real teammate to Yannis.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I'm interested, Like I am less interested in those middle
- 9:43Speaker 3: tier teams kind of edging up into the gap. I'm
- 9:47Speaker 3: more interested in a longer shot team that just like
- 9:49Speaker 3: finds the star, makes the big move, smells the blood
- 9:52Speaker 3: in the water we're seeing and it's like, let's let's
- 9:55Speaker 3: take a shot here.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I love that idea. Who do you think that? And
- 10:00Speaker 1: is like you just name raptors nets who of the
- 10:05Speaker 1: you know, middle the teams that could take the big leap,
- 10:12Speaker 1: is going to put themselves in the best position.
- 10:15Speaker 3: So I was intrigued by the Nets. We talked about
- 10:17Speaker 3: this briefly after the game last night. Matt Moore at
- 10:19Speaker 3: Buckets things, that's not the Nets. You think the Nets
- 10:21Speaker 3: are a year away. They're saving up for a year
- 10:23Speaker 3: from now free agency.
- 10:24Speaker 4: That can change.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Maybe you kind of just shift your odds when there's
- 10:28Speaker 3: this big gap year.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I'm gonna give them credit on that.
- 10:31Speaker 3: So I'm going to go with the Raptors as a
- 10:33Speaker 3: team that quietly, from like February forward, was like a
- 10:38Speaker 3: top three to five defense in the NBA, even though
- 10:41Speaker 3: they were just kind of off the radar totally. They
- 10:43Speaker 3: just they have this weird mix of players that don't
- 10:46Speaker 3: make a lot of sense. I don't really feel like
- 10:47Speaker 3: we know what Messiah Jerry is doing building the team,
- 10:50Speaker 3: but the weird mix of players make for interesting trade targets.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Is it brandon Ingram, is it Emmanuel Quickly?
- 10:57Speaker 4: Is it RJ? Barrett? Teams like these dudes.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I don't really love these dudes, but teams do, and
- 11:03Speaker 3: that means okay, maybe that was the Kevin Durant package,
- 11:07Speaker 3: it wasn't Maybe that's the Jannis package Jonason, Toronto international player.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I'm intrigued. I think that's a real possibility there. The
- 11:15Speaker 3: jury's pulled off big moves before we saw the Cly
- 11:18Speaker 3: trade and then boom, they win a championship right after that.
- 11:21Speaker 3: So I do think there's some intrigue, some roster intrigue
- 11:26Speaker 3: of Okay, sub prect two or three of the guys
- 11:29Speaker 3: for a star. There's still a few other guys on
- 11:32Speaker 3: the roster there, and I don't really know what becomes
- 11:35Speaker 3: of the team, but I can imagine a bigger leap
- 11:38Speaker 3: rather than incremental one. So I'll say Raptors as just
- 11:41Speaker 3: like a shot in the dark team right now.
- 11:43Speaker 1: All right, Brian. Yesterday Kevin Durant traded to the Rockets
- 11:49Speaker 1: and finding out well being interviewed on stage at Fanatics Fast,
- 11:56Speaker 1: which to me was just choice content forget. You just
- 12:02Speaker 1: never get. This is the day and age we're in,
- 12:03Speaker 1: though everything is filmed, everything in this event. You got
- 12:08Speaker 1: Kevin Durant on stage and in the middle of a question,
- 12:12Speaker 1: the interviewer is starting to hear fans yell Durant was
- 12:16Speaker 1: just traded to the Rockets, and that's how the news
- 12:20Speaker 1: is being broken. That's the world we're living in right now.
- 12:26Speaker 1: That catapults the Rockets up the Eastern the Western Conference
- 12:30Speaker 1: behind the thunder Now and shortest odds over reaction.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I mean, the Rockets already had in elite defense, and
- 12:39Speaker 2: now they're getting the one thing that they really needed
- 12:41Speaker 2: was a shot creator.
- 12:42Speaker 5: I have my concerns.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I have my concerns about Kevin Durant turning thirty seven
- 12:48Speaker 2: in September and potentially leading this team to the Western
- 12:53Speaker 2: Conference championship against what we just saw in Oklahoma City.
- 12:56Speaker 2: But it's very hard to repeat, especially now because the
- 12:59Speaker 2: long grueling seasons.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Are even longer and more grueling.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Because the game is just faster and Oklahoma City is
- 13:06Speaker 2: very young. But you're one injury away from things just
- 13:10Speaker 2: changing like that, as we've seen from other teams. I
- 13:12Speaker 2: don't think it's an overreaction to have Houston second. They
- 13:15Speaker 2: were the second seed, although many of us didn't believe
- 13:17Speaker 2: they would win in the first round because Golden State
- 13:19Speaker 2: on the other side had Steph Curry added Jimmy Butler,
- 13:22Speaker 2: still have Draymond Green, Steve Kerr, who's been an institution
- 13:25Speaker 2: there for many years, but now with Houston, it's like, Okay,
- 13:28Speaker 2: you're getting Kevin Durant to take on the Jalen Green role.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I think that Brandon's going to be.
- 13:34Speaker 5: With me on this.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I think that's a huge upgrade. The concern I think
- 13:38Speaker 2: is though health. Is Kevin Durant gonna play sixty two games,
- 13:42Speaker 2: seventy games, forty eight games? And can they get by
- 13:46Speaker 2: in the regular season if he's limited. That leads us
- 13:50Speaker 2: to Amen Thompson, who some of us believe is a
- 13:54Speaker 2: potential star, a potential All Star, and somebody who's gonna
- 13:58Speaker 2: get a lot of buzz for different diferent types of
- 14:00Speaker 2: awards and honors moving forward. Is this an opportunity for
- 14:04Speaker 2: him to assume that role in the event that Kevin
- 14:07Speaker 2: Durant can for eighty two games, which he probably won't
- 14:10Speaker 2: be able to, that's an unrealistic request.
- 14:12Speaker 5: And also for Amen Thompson, can.
- 14:14Speaker 2: He just develop more because he's only still in his
- 14:17Speaker 2: early to mid twenties, he's only a few years in
- 14:19Speaker 2: the league. He's had some injury stuff that he's had
- 14:21Speaker 2: to overcome, so the progress hasn't always been linear. But
- 14:25Speaker 2: he's somebody to look to and then this is the
- 14:28Speaker 2: thing that I like about Houston and with some of
- 14:30Speaker 2: the Eastern Conference teams that Brandon was talking about, you
- 14:33Speaker 2: have to look at when it pertains to futures, you
- 14:34Speaker 2: have to look at teams and how they're built from
- 14:37Speaker 2: a salary component. Because Houston has tradable contracts, they just
- 14:41Speaker 2: cast in two of them for this deal with Jalen
- 14:43Speaker 2: Green and with Dylan Brooks to be able to reach
- 14:46Speaker 2: that salary number that Kevin Durant has. So the same
- 14:50Speaker 2: thing could be said for Fred van Vliet, and they
- 14:52Speaker 2: still have all their young pieces. They didn't move any
- 14:55Speaker 2: one of them, So there's room for Houston to make
- 14:58Speaker 2: another move. And if they're going to be aggressive and
- 15:00Speaker 2: ambitious like this, there's reasons to think that it's not
- 15:02Speaker 2: going to stop here at Kevin Durant.
- 15:04Speaker 1: So what do you think that starting line up for
- 15:05Speaker 1: Houston looks like? Is Fred van Vliet on the team?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Is it Reed Shepherd who is starting in place of
- 15:14Speaker 1: Fred Van Vliet. Who's who's starting in place of Jalen Green?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Is it Jabari Smith? Is it somebody else They've got,
- 15:24Speaker 1: like you said, so much young talent. Name me the
- 15:27Speaker 1: starting five for Houston Brandon, So.
- 15:30Speaker 3: I was hoping going to Brian for that one on
- 15:32Speaker 3: top of Brian nambe the starting five for Houston.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Too.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I think maybe that maybe the two is not currently
- 15:40Speaker 2: on the roster, And as much as we like Reach
- 15:43Speaker 2: Shepherd's potential, I don't know if I thrust him into
- 15:46Speaker 2: that role yet. I would look at Fred van Vliet.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Maybe I'm and Thompson just slides to the two for now,
- 15:51Speaker 2: and then you have Jabari Smith, Kevin Durant, and Alprin Shangoun.
- 15:55Speaker 2: But based on this question, Chad like, I don't think
- 15:58Speaker 2: the roster has done yet.
- 15:59Speaker 5: I think Houston goes out and.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Does something else and adds somebody who's different to fill
- 16:05Speaker 2: that Jalen green spot in terms of like somebody who's
- 16:09Speaker 2: more of a defender, a catch and shoot guy, not
- 16:11Speaker 2: Kentavious Caldwell Pope, but conceptually somebody like that. Hell, if
- 16:15Speaker 2: I were them, I would be calling and I would
- 16:17Speaker 2: be calling Boston and being like, Hey, what do you
- 16:19Speaker 2: want for Derek White? Could we come? Could we actually
- 16:22Speaker 2: do like a Derek White sort of deal, because that
- 16:25Speaker 2: would make a lot of sense conceptually. That's the kind
- 16:27Speaker 2: of two guard that I would want somebody who can
- 16:30Speaker 2: shoot threes, somebody who could defend, and somebody who doesn't
- 16:32Speaker 2: need the ball a ton to be effective.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So would you even bet Houston at two in the
- 16:40Speaker 1: Eastern Conference or do you think Golden State is a
- 16:45Speaker 1: better bet given how they played against them and what
- 16:49Speaker 1: this team could have done is steph hadn't been injured.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a tough spot with the Rockets
- 16:58Speaker 3: because I think that I think two things can be true.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I think they are right to be the second favorite
- 17:03Speaker 3: in the West, but I don't think that necessarily makes
- 17:06Speaker 3: them betible at that spot either. Like they again, they
- 17:08Speaker 3: were the two seat already this year. But if you
- 17:11Speaker 3: took Houston and put them into the East, considering the
- 17:14Speaker 3: East picture we have talked about, they're the big favor,
- 17:16Speaker 3: like everybody wants a piece of Houston then, but that
- 17:19Speaker 3: would be Triuvia. Put the Lakers in the East as well,
- 17:21Speaker 3: and you got Luca and Lebron, that maybe would be truviy,
- 17:23Speaker 3: but the Warriors in the East. You could make that
- 17:25Speaker 3: case for a bunch of East teams. It's not the
- 17:27Speaker 3: East though, And in particular, you're gonna have to beat
- 17:30Speaker 3: the Thunder. Probably we do know that since twenty nineteen forward,
- 17:35Speaker 3: the defending NBA champions have not made the following conference finals.
- 17:40Speaker 4: So maybe we should.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Be betting Houston, because if it's not the Thunder, maybe
- 17:44Speaker 3: it's open. But for right now, the Thunder to me
- 17:48Speaker 3: are the team that we might have actually just seen
- 17:51Speaker 3: the worst version of this team to come over the
- 17:53Speaker 3: next few years. This is such a young Thunder squad.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Carusoe and Hartenstein are the veterans on this team, and
- 17:59Speaker 3: they're like around thirty, Like they're still fine and not
- 18:02Speaker 3: necessarily going anywhere. J Dubbs still young, getting better. Chat's
- 18:06Speaker 3: still young, not a great Finals should be getting better.
- 18:10Speaker 3: We saw both of those guys get better in series
- 18:12Speaker 3: and throughout the playoffs. Shay is still just kind of
- 18:15Speaker 3: in the entering his prime stage. Probably will still get
- 18:18Speaker 3: a little better. He still can clean up the handle
- 18:20Speaker 3: a little bit, clean up the passing. To me, I
- 18:23Speaker 3: can't invest in Houston futures right now because I do
- 18:27Speaker 3: think that the floor will keep them there in the
- 18:29Speaker 3: regular season, except that Durant will miss some time so
- 18:32Speaker 3: they'll move a little bit. But to me, it might
- 18:35Speaker 3: almost be that they're kind of buying down the price
- 18:37Speaker 3: in Oklahoma City a little bit. The gap from OKC
- 18:41Speaker 3: to Houston in the regular season may not be so huge,
- 18:44Speaker 3: but in a playoff series, it still was a pretty
- 18:47Speaker 3: wide gap. And to me, there's a lot of comparison
- 18:51Speaker 3: about these Thunder that just won the title to the
- 18:53Speaker 3: twenty fifteen Warriors. We saw what the Warriors became after that,
- 18:59Speaker 3: seventy three and nine after that, and they did not
- 19:01Speaker 3: win the title. The injuries happen, lebron happened, I understand,
- 19:06Speaker 3: but this might have been the bad version of the
- 19:10Speaker 3: Thunder compared to what still to come. So I think
- 19:13Speaker 3: that the Thunder might just be the team to be
- 19:16Speaker 3: in the in the West still, even though the Rockets
- 19:18Speaker 3: are the team that's gonna catch all the attention with
- 19:20Speaker 3: Durant on the roster now.
- 19:22Speaker 1: All right, So the team's chasing who want to be
- 19:24Speaker 1: like the Thunder. They want to be like the Pacers.
- 19:27Speaker 1: They want to develop through the draft, they want to
- 19:30Speaker 1: get young players on good deals. Obviously the Mavericks one
- 19:34Speaker 1: of those teams. They blew everything up with Luca. They
- 19:37Speaker 1: get lucky. They've now got the opportunity to draft Cooper Flag.
- 19:41Speaker 1: He will be the number one overall pick. If you
- 19:45Speaker 1: had a scatter report for Cooper Flag, Brian or Brandon,
- 19:50Speaker 1: whoever would like to go first. I don't want to,
- 19:51Speaker 1: you know, I want to share the ball off between
- 19:53Speaker 1: you two. Do you have a comp do you have
- 19:57Speaker 1: an assessment based on past number one picks? Brandon will
- 20:03Speaker 1: start with you.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I think that Cooper Flag is the clear number one
- 20:09Speaker 3: pick and also simultaneously, maybe not quite the generational guy
- 20:15Speaker 3: that he's being hyped as as this incredible next American MVP.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Surefire superstar.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I would love a world where Cooper Flag could be
- 20:25Speaker 3: my second guy on the team, and that might sound slanderous.
- 20:29Speaker 4: He's awesome.
- 20:30Speaker 3: He does so many things while the floor is incredibly high.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He's an awesome defender. He can score so many ways.
- 20:37Speaker 3: He's he can use both hands to finish. I don't
- 20:40Speaker 3: know if I'm quite there yet on the shot. I
- 20:42Speaker 3: think he needs to work on it a little bit.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I don't know if that will ever be a knockdown
- 20:45Speaker 3: skill for him. I don't know that I quite think
- 20:48Speaker 3: he is like a certainly not an A plus NBA athlete.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I think he's more of like a B minus NBA athlete.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I only it will hold him back. But I don't
- 20:55Speaker 3: know if I see superstar MVP athleticism, which in the NBA,
- 21:01Speaker 3: size and athleticism are going to rule the day, and
- 21:03Speaker 3: you can't develop those things, you either are or you
- 21:05Speaker 3: are not. To me, I look at him and I
- 21:09Speaker 3: see a guy that I like to camp. Here is
- 21:12Speaker 3: Andre Kirlenko from the Jazz a couple decades ago, who
- 21:15Speaker 3: sounds like a mean comp. I thought our Kielinka was awesome,
- 21:18Speaker 3: Like I had him Top three and MDB ballot one
- 21:20Speaker 3: year as just a jackknife. Do everything I can initiate
- 21:24Speaker 3: the offense. To me, that's Cooper's biggest talent for his
- 21:27Speaker 3: size is to be able to have the ball and
- 21:30Speaker 3: create for others with his size, with the scoring threat,
- 21:33Speaker 3: with his defense. It's the all around game. It's it's
- 21:36Speaker 3: maybe Franz Wagner, maybe Franz plus, it's maybe Gordon Hayward plus.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I know I'm doing all the White comps. Here's my
- 21:45Speaker 3: other comp. What if you took Lebron James and all
- 21:48Speaker 3: the stuff that he's good at, all the rounded game
- 21:50Speaker 3: and all the ways of seeing the game, and then
- 21:53Speaker 3: you're stuck him in a lanky white teenager from Maine.
- 21:56Speaker 3: What if you did that. That's the comp That's what
- 21:58Speaker 3: Cooper Flag is and I mean all the good parts
- 22:01Speaker 3: of that, but the limiting part also, And I think
- 22:03Speaker 3: it's gonna be a very good player, but not necessarily
- 22:06Speaker 3: an MVP player to me.
- 22:09Speaker 1: All Right, So, Brian, the Spurs are number two. Super
- 22:13Speaker 1: exciting team between Castle, dieron Fox Wenby when he's back,
- 22:20Speaker 1: they can draft. They're going to be able to draft
- 22:22Speaker 1: Dylan Harper, who a lot of people peg to be
- 22:25Speaker 1: an All Star. Flag and Harper are probably the two
- 22:28Speaker 1: prospects people are most excited about in this draft. Can
- 22:33Speaker 1: they turn themselves into an OKC team in the next
- 22:36Speaker 1: twelve to twenty four.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Months, Well, if Victor won Monyam is healthy, I think
- 22:41Speaker 2: anything is possible kind of for that team. Speaking of
- 22:45Speaker 2: a team like Houston who has all their young guys,
- 22:47Speaker 2: Spurs have their young guys like they just drafted the
- 22:50Speaker 2: rookie of the year. After drafting the rookie of the year.
- 22:53Speaker 2: They have Stefan Castle, who we project is going to
- 22:55Speaker 2: be really good, who people want to compare to a
- 22:58Speaker 2: Drew Holliday type for example. And if he's that, that's
- 23:01Speaker 2: an enormous steal. That's an enormous win. That's someone who
- 23:04Speaker 2: you know could be a number three on a championship team.
- 23:06Speaker 2: We clearly all expect, if healthy, which is the key
- 23:09Speaker 2: Victor Webba Yama to be that number one. So it's
- 23:11Speaker 2: about filling out the rest of the roster and going
- 23:15Speaker 2: shopping with maybe a Keldon Johnson or a Devin Vessel
- 23:18Speaker 2: and trying to see what you can get for some
- 23:19Speaker 2: of those guys if you want to like trade up.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Oh and by the way, they have Daron Fox, who
- 23:24Speaker 2: presumably would be your number two because they landed him
- 23:27Speaker 2: last year. Dylan Harper is interesting. I wonder how he'd fit.
- 23:31Speaker 2: It does feel like it is trending that way. I
- 23:34Speaker 2: have my questions about the entire records experience last year,
- 23:38Speaker 2: just because not just not making the NCAA tournament with
- 23:41Speaker 2: you know, two of the top guys, but also like
- 23:44Speaker 2: I just feel like, if you're that.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Good, should probably win a little bit more.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Now, stats don't always translate, Like we have a lot
- 23:51Speaker 2: of examples of guys who aren't that productive in college
- 23:54Speaker 2: and end up being more productive in the pros, like
- 23:55Speaker 2: a Stefan Castle, like Russell Westbrook, like a zach Lavine.
- 23:58Speaker 2: But there are examples the other way where guys put
- 24:01Speaker 2: up big numbers in college, like a Ben Simmons, like
- 24:04Speaker 2: Markel Foltz, it doesn't really mean anything. And those are
- 24:07Speaker 2: two of the guys that people are probably scared of
- 24:10Speaker 2: as it pertains to these Rutgers guys. Ace Bailey being
- 24:13Speaker 2: the other one, and I think he scares more people
- 24:15Speaker 2: for obvious reasons. I think Harper feels like a safe
- 24:18Speaker 2: number two pick. I don't think I'm as high on
- 24:22Speaker 2: him as some of the others, Like I really like VJ. Edgecomb,
- 24:25Speaker 2: for example. He's somebody who's gonna be picked maybe right
- 24:28Speaker 2: after Harper. He's favored to go three, he might go fourth.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I think he's definitely a top five pick. He's a
- 24:33Speaker 2: guy that I'm really excited about. I like Trey Johnson
- 24:36Speaker 2: a lot, like there are other guys in this draft
- 24:38Speaker 2: that excite me more long term than Harper, But I
- 24:41Speaker 2: still think Harper is going to be really good. But
- 24:43Speaker 2: it feels like a safe number two overall pick. And
- 24:46Speaker 2: for the Spurs, I don't think they need to sort.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Of reinvent the wheel here.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I just think they need to hit on somebody to
- 24:52Speaker 2: continue to add to what they.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Have, so you don't think trading out of that spot
- 25:00Speaker 1: if they're not convinced on Dylan Harper and trying to
- 25:03Speaker 1: get someone who is a veteran that has a contract
- 25:08Speaker 1: that plays to what fits within their construct is now
- 25:13Speaker 1: and getting future picks because they will be giving up
- 25:16Speaker 1: a number two overall pick is a better play. Oh.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I would absolutely entertain moving number two if I'm the Spurs.
- 25:24Speaker 2: If I'm the Spurs and I want to get ambitious
- 25:26Speaker 2: and really look at the Western Conference, like, Okay, we
- 25:28Speaker 2: have Victor Wembanyama. We can go to war with him
- 25:31Speaker 2: and de Aaron Fox and Stefan Castle and everything else
- 25:33Speaker 2: we have, Like, yeah, I would entertain moving off of
- 25:37Speaker 2: number two. Frankly, I thought that if Yiannis was on
- 25:39Speaker 2: the table, that's something that they can dangle in front
- 25:42Speaker 2: of Hookey and be like, hey, Giannis Wenby, Darren Fox,
- 25:47Speaker 2: Stefan Castle, if he survives that trade, like the Spurs
- 25:50Speaker 2: still have draft picks to play with. So yeah, I
- 25:52Speaker 2: would definitely entertain moving off number two if if there's
- 25:55Speaker 2: a package worthy, especially because there are things that they
- 26:00Speaker 2: can do now that Victor woman Yama is still on
- 26:03Speaker 2: his rookie contract and is not going to hit an
- 26:06Speaker 2: extension until that kicks in a couple of years from now,
- 26:09Speaker 2: so they have time to take in some salary, some
- 26:11Speaker 2: big salary before Wemby ends up getting his inevitable MAX extension.
- 26:16Speaker 1: All right, well, look, you mentioned the magic player who's
- 26:18Speaker 1: sort of the folk rum on which all this is
- 26:23Speaker 1: going to turn, And that's as Bailey, who has been
- 26:26Speaker 1: weird and animatic and making demands of teams when he
- 26:32Speaker 1: has been the guy of those three players at the
- 26:34Speaker 1: top of the board who people had the most questions about,
- 26:38Speaker 1: has not visited anybody yet most people expected him to
- 26:43Speaker 1: be the consensus number three. Now people thinking that it
- 26:47Speaker 1: may be VJ. Edgecombe, and that kN K. Nipple is
- 26:51Speaker 1: the guy who could go four. Trey Johnson you mentioned him,
- 26:54Speaker 1: could go five, and a lot of people now starting
- 26:56Speaker 1: to mock he's Bailey going sixth to Washington? And because
- 27:03Speaker 1: is it this guy's game, is it this guy's attitude,
- 27:06Speaker 1: is it the way he's managing the process? I know
- 27:08Speaker 1: his father is intimately involved, and how Dad's always fucked
- 27:12Speaker 1: things up. So, like Brandon, if you're making a bet
- 27:17Speaker 1: on who the number three pick is gonna be Do
- 27:20Speaker 1: we look at all this as a smoke screen? Are
- 27:22Speaker 1: we off Ace Bailey going to the sixers?
- 27:25Speaker 3: I don't think it's a smoke screen. I think Ace
- 27:28Speaker 3: Bailey thinks it's all very real. I think Ace Bailey
- 27:31Speaker 3: seems to want to fall out of the top five
- 27:34Speaker 3: and get to a spot where he can get a
- 27:36Speaker 3: few more shots up. This is the guy just wants
- 27:38Speaker 3: to shoot some jumpers, right. He just wants to just
- 27:41Speaker 3: go be a hooper. This is a hooper at heart,
- 27:43Speaker 3: and he wants to hoop with the wizards who need
- 27:46Speaker 3: a hooper. He wants to hoop with the nuts, who
- 27:48Speaker 3: we just talked about as a blank slate. That sounds
- 27:51Speaker 3: more appealing to me if I just want can I
- 27:53Speaker 3: be Cam Thomas?
- 27:54Speaker 4: Great, I'll get twenty.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Points a game like he might become a pretty interesting
- 27:59Speaker 3: Rookie Year sort of pick if he falls to one
- 28:01Speaker 3: of those teams. Rookie of Year odds are up right now,
- 28:04Speaker 3: by the way, at one book already Cooper flag opened
- 28:07Speaker 3: at minus four hundred to be the Rookie of the Year.
- 28:09Speaker 3: That is yeah, Brian's face does it all. That's an
- 28:11Speaker 3: absurd number of over confidence in Cooper Flag. I'll give
- 28:16Speaker 3: you a Rutgers hot take here. I watch a lot
- 28:18Speaker 3: of Rutgers ball this year. Obviously you need to because
- 28:21Speaker 3: both Harper and Bailey, and I was like, man, I'm
- 28:23Speaker 3: out on Bailey. Bailey's not good. This is not my
- 28:26Speaker 3: style of guy. Here's my Ruckers hot take. I think
- 28:30Speaker 3: Dylan Harper if you could give me odds right now
- 28:33Speaker 3: on to win an MVP someday, I will fade Cooper
- 28:37Speaker 3: Flags odds and I would bet Dylan Harper's odds. I
- 28:39Speaker 3: think Dylan Harper has a higher ceiling of MVP level
- 28:43Speaker 3: of a James Harden type player of the way we
- 28:45Speaker 3: choose MVPs these days, of what he would do. What's
- 28:49Speaker 3: weird is that, after all my watching of Rutgers and
- 28:53Speaker 3: all my hating of Ace Bailey and the style of
- 28:55Speaker 3: playery is like a Wiggins type player, an MPJ Harrison Barnes.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Who are these guys? They're all like.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Top three recruits that sucked for an entire NBA career
- 29:06Speaker 3: and then eventually we're like, well, you kind of became
- 29:09Speaker 3: a pretty solid fourth role player on a winning team
- 29:13Speaker 3: after we paid you three hundred million dollars to develop
- 29:16Speaker 3: into that, and you're like, well, I guess I'm not
- 29:17Speaker 3: the number one player. Maybe I should rebound and defend
- 29:20Speaker 3: a little bit. And you eventually became that. But was
- 29:23Speaker 3: it on your initial team that drafted you? Was it
- 29:25Speaker 3: in our initial investment of one hundred million dollars?
- 29:27Speaker 2: Not?
- 29:28Speaker 4: Really?
- 29:29Speaker 3: All that said, those are good players, those are players
- 29:32Speaker 3: on champions. Wiggins won a championship, NBJA won a championship.
- 29:36Speaker 3: A different sort of player, Aaron Gordon was a number
- 29:39Speaker 3: one in Orlando, then went to Denver and became a
- 29:42Speaker 3: different version and became a champion. And this guy that
- 29:45Speaker 3: we love, I think, to me, I really like j Edgecum,
- 29:50Speaker 3: I really like con K Nipple. Shooting guards are only
- 29:53Speaker 3: so valuable. Ace Bailey's upside of what he could be
- 29:58Speaker 3: if that jumper is is wet as it looks, if
- 30:01Speaker 3: I think there's some defensive upside and potential there. We
- 30:04Speaker 3: saw him make some nice blocks and steal some playmaking.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I personally, after all that, still have Bailey top four
- 30:12Speaker 3: on my draft board. Even though I don't even like
- 30:15Speaker 3: the idea of what he is. I think he's a
- 30:17Speaker 3: perfect fit in Philadelphia. They need a shooter with size
- 30:22Speaker 3: VJ and Kahn are shooting guards. This is a Cooper
- 30:25Speaker 3: Flag size player in Ace Bailey, and I'll come back
- 30:29Speaker 3: all around. I will be looking to invest in the
- 30:33Speaker 3: sixers at three. Still drafting Ace Bailey. I'm not gonna
- 30:37Speaker 3: do it yet because this is effectively number one pick.
- 30:39Speaker 3: We know one and two, and we've seen the odds
- 30:42Speaker 3: swing wildly in like twenty four hours before the draft.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Darryl Moury don't care what you think about it. Darryl
- 30:49Speaker 3: Moury doesn't care if you canceled your workouts. Daryl Moury's
- 30:52Speaker 3: gonna do whatever he feels like it. And if he
- 30:55Speaker 3: feels like you're the guy his team wants to have,
- 30:57Speaker 3: he's gonna draft you and let you figure it out later.
- 31:00Speaker 3: So I think Darryl Moury might after all that, still
- 31:03Speaker 3: think Ace is the guy. And if we can get
- 31:05Speaker 3: like he's a four hundred plus four hundred odds now,
- 31:09Speaker 3: if I can get like a past five six hundred,
- 31:11Speaker 3: the ten to one on okay, we've all decided it's VJ.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Let me swerve the way I bet the draft is swerving.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I'll bet on uncertainty. I still think Aces and play
- 31:20Speaker 3: at three, all right?
- 31:22Speaker 1: Well, you also just gave me a hot take here
- 31:24Speaker 1: about what's going to happen with Ace Bailey and where
- 31:27Speaker 1: he best belongs and also who has the higher upsides
- 31:31Speaker 1: as VP candidates in the future. Brian, I know you
- 31:38Speaker 1: have a hot take, and I'm actually incredibly interested in
- 31:41Speaker 1: it because the player you're talking about not only represents
- 31:45Speaker 1: the college where my younger son is about to go,
- 31:48Speaker 1: so we paid a lot of attention to this kid,
- 31:50Speaker 1: but also he is mocked to be going to the
- 31:53Speaker 1: team that I love the most, the Chicago Bulls. Give
- 31:57Speaker 1: me your hot take.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Okay, who is are we talking about Derek Queen specifically?
- 32:05Speaker 5: Is that what we're talking about? Yes, just to make sure.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Yeah, Derek Queen, who right now is in New York
- 32:12Speaker 2: City obviously get ready for the draft. I'm very intrigued
- 32:16Speaker 2: by his game. I think he's gonna be either one
- 32:18Speaker 2: of the best players in this draft or somebody who's
- 32:21Speaker 2: out of the league in like five six years. So
- 32:24Speaker 2: the problem is with centers who can score, which he can.
- 32:29Speaker 2: He is one of the better offensive games for a
- 32:32Speaker 2: big man in this draft. Teams can't always figure out
- 32:37Speaker 2: what to do with these guys we saw.
- 32:39Speaker 5: I remember vividly.
- 32:41Speaker 2: This is ten years ago, but jialil okafor happened right.
- 32:45Speaker 2: This is somebody who came into the league. He was
- 32:46Speaker 2: a bucket down low. He can score on anybody. And
- 32:50Speaker 2: then three years later, after being a Rookie of the
- 32:52Speaker 2: Year contender, was getting traded with Nick Stauskis for a
- 32:56Speaker 2: second round pick and Trevor Booker to the nets where
- 32:59Speaker 2: he just sat and didn't nothing for the duration of
- 33:02Speaker 2: a few months before just flatlining the rest of his
- 33:06Speaker 2: career and we've barely seen him since. I think he
- 33:08Speaker 2: made a cameo with like the Fort Wayne team in
- 33:11Speaker 2: the G League this year, and he's been in the
- 33:14Speaker 2: G League. He played I think for the Nigeria national team,
- 33:17Speaker 2: like lot's really happened there. I think with Derek Queen,
- 33:20Speaker 2: though I don't know if he's alprin Shngun two point zero.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I don't know if he's a better version of that,
- 33:26Speaker 2: but he can be something. He needs to go to
- 33:29Speaker 2: the right team. This is something we don't talk about
- 33:31Speaker 2: enough with draft picks. These guys have to go to
- 33:34Speaker 2: the right environments. Often I worry about anyone who's.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Going to Washington for example.
- 33:39Speaker 2: No disrespect to anyone who roots for the Wizards, and
- 33:41Speaker 2: I do think they have some players like I like
- 33:43Speaker 2: Bala Kulabali, I like Alex Sar, But the right guy
- 33:47Speaker 2: has to go there. And I think with Derek Queen,
- 33:50Speaker 2: if he goes to like the Chicago Bulls, for example,
- 33:53Speaker 2: I would like to see them move Nko, that's gonna
- 33:56Speaker 2: be the case because it's like, all right, what are
- 33:58Speaker 2: we doing If you have both of them there and
- 34:01Speaker 2: Derek Queen's backing up the Kolavucevich like that doesn't make
- 34:04Speaker 2: a lot of sense. And also do I trust the
- 34:06Speaker 2: Chicago Bulls in terms of development no offense, I mean,
- 34:09Speaker 2: they haven't had a great track record as of late.
- 34:11Speaker 2: They look like they're about to pay Josh getting a
- 34:12Speaker 2: lot of money too, so we'll see what that happens there.
- 34:14Speaker 2: But with Derrek Queen, I think he needs to be
- 34:17Speaker 2: in an environment where he his offensive game is embraced.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Don't try to make him just the pick and roll guy.
- 34:23Speaker 2: He's somebody who can do things with the ball. I
- 34:25Speaker 2: think there's some playmaking potential in there, even at the
- 34:28Speaker 2: next level. But he's somebody who can create. And I
- 34:33Speaker 2: for a big man, and I do wonder is he
- 34:35Speaker 2: going to be pigeonholed as somebody who plays eighteen minutes
- 34:38Speaker 2: a game and is like a fantasy stud gets like
- 34:41Speaker 2: twelve and six and then go sit down. Or is
- 34:44Speaker 2: he somebody that is going to be nurtured and developed,
- 34:46Speaker 2: probably like an alprin Shngoun and see his offensive game
- 34:50Speaker 2: like actually gets at the next level. So I don't
- 34:52Speaker 2: know if Chicago's the right environment unless you're telling me, hey,
- 34:55Speaker 2: the Kolovich can go somewhere else, or can he go
- 34:59Speaker 2: to a different type Brandon NASA's head vigorously, or can
- 35:03Speaker 2: he go to another team Like I know Charlotte is
- 35:06Speaker 2: a weird landing spot. I do think Charlotte might have
- 35:10Speaker 2: the right coach finally, but they still have to get
- 35:12Speaker 2: the right mix of players. Like I have questions about
- 35:15Speaker 2: LaMelo Ball, I have questions about Brandon Miller, and I
- 35:17Speaker 2: bring them up because Charlotte could sneakily be a trade
- 35:19Speaker 2: back candidate. So do they go back in the top
- 35:22Speaker 2: ten and maybe get the Derek Queen if they're because
- 35:26Speaker 2: the Mark Williams thing happened, and it's like, are they
- 35:29Speaker 2: going to try to move off Mark Williams again because
- 35:32Speaker 2: he was almost a Laker that one time that we
- 35:34Speaker 2: seemingly all forgot. So I think Derek Queen could either
- 35:38Speaker 2: be really good or just somebody who's just shoved out
- 35:40Speaker 2: the league. Because teams can't figure out what to do
- 35:43Speaker 2: with an offensive minded center anymore. Unless they can shoot
- 35:46Speaker 2: threes at a great rate or can just get like
- 35:49Speaker 2: seven eight assists per game or something along those lines,
- 35:51Speaker 2: they'll like almost have to be special. And I think
- 35:53Speaker 2: there's room for somebody who can create their own offense
- 35:57Speaker 2: on the interior, scoring the post, so to speak, but
- 36:00Speaker 2: could also be a little bit of a hub, even
- 36:02Speaker 2: if it's just for stretches of a game.
- 36:04Speaker 1: All right, Brian, you mentioned Charlotte potentially trading back, which
- 36:08Speaker 1: would be sort of a bold prediction for Draft night.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Brand And I'm going to give you the last word.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Give me your bold predictions for NBA Draft Night.
- 36:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna give you a bold bet that you can
- 36:20Speaker 3: make right now for NBA Draft Night. We light at
- 36:23Speaker 3: the top with the Kevin Durant trade. In that trade,
- 36:27Speaker 3: the Phoenix Suns traded away Kevin Durant. They got back
- 36:30Speaker 3: some guys I don't really like very much, but they
- 36:32Speaker 3: also got back at draft pick. They got the number
- 36:34Speaker 3: ten pick, and the Sons have not had a number
- 36:37Speaker 3: ten pick. Have the Suns been paying attention to the
- 36:40Speaker 3: guys being drafted in the top ten? To have the
- 36:42Speaker 3: scouts even been like ready for who might be that
- 36:45Speaker 3: guy in the top ten? You know who's guy that
- 36:48Speaker 3: the Sons do know a lot about. Matt Ishbiah, the
- 36:52Speaker 3: owner that likes to be involved, played a little basketball
- 36:55Speaker 3: in college with Jason Richardson. You want a championship with
- 36:58Speaker 3: Jason Richardson. Jason Richardson is the father of Jace Richardson.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Perhaps we know that about him. Jace Richardson to be
- 37:05Speaker 3: the number ten pick. I bet it in the Action
- 37:08Speaker 3: app last night forty to one odds. Do I think
- 37:12Speaker 3: he should be the number ten pick? Probably not, but
- 37:14Speaker 3: I think it's in range. I have Jace Lottery on
- 37:16Speaker 3: my board that's in arrange well enough. Maybe the scouts
- 37:20Speaker 3: aren't totally ready yet, or maybe Madishpia is ready and
- 37:24Speaker 3: he's like, you know what, we're starting over, but we're
- 37:26Speaker 3: starting over with my guy, my guy from MSU, the
- 37:29Speaker 3: Michigan State Heritage pick. Maybe he took number ten with
- 37:33Speaker 3: full intention to put the stamp on and bring in Jace.
- 37:37Speaker 3: That's my bold prediction, forty to one or best number
- 37:39Speaker 3: you can find.
- 37:40Speaker 1: I love that, Brian, I lied. I'll give you the
- 37:43Speaker 1: last word. Do you have a lot? Do you have
- 37:46Speaker 1: as bold a prediction as Brandon does?
- 37:50Speaker 2: Unfortunately about forty to one, But I think I do
- 37:53Speaker 2: think like I'm intrigued at a potential shakeup in the
- 37:57Speaker 2: top five. Where I looked at your my Afears at
- 38:01Speaker 2: plus three hundred and common Malo Watch at plus three
- 38:03Speaker 2: fifty to go into the top five, because if Ace
- 38:07Speaker 2: Bailey is going to legitimately fall, because there are still
- 38:10Speaker 2: some books who think he's going to go in the
- 38:11Speaker 2: top five, and I know that Bill Simmons and Ryan
- 38:15Speaker 2: Rosseillo keep talking about Utah potentially liking Ace Bailey.
- 38:18Speaker 5: I think there's a reason for that.
- 38:20Speaker 2: But if Ace Bailey does fall out of the top five,
- 38:24Speaker 2: you're gonna need guys to rise on the board. Jeremiah
- 38:27Speaker 2: Fears is somebody who reportedly has been killing his draft workouts.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Who is somebody who is a very athletic guard. I
- 38:33Speaker 2: have questions about the jump shot, but those type of
- 38:36Speaker 2: dudes tend to rise up in the draft. Malo Watch
- 38:40Speaker 2: also is seven foot two and looks like he's gonna
- 38:43Speaker 2: be able to knock down threes at some point consistently,
- 38:46Speaker 2: along with being a rim protector. That's modern day NBA
- 38:49Speaker 2: basketball from the center position. We just saw Chet Holmgren
- 38:52Speaker 2: in that finals being a version of that. Those are
- 38:55Speaker 2: the two guys that I would look at in terms
- 38:57Speaker 2: of potentially crashing the party in the top five. Mala
- 39:01Speaker 2: Watch from Duke was one guy that I especially like.
- 39:05Speaker 2: He scared the hell out of me as somebody who's
- 39:08Speaker 2: Puerto Rican in the World Cup and in the Olympics
- 39:10Speaker 2: because he was on South Sudan and I was like, man,
- 39:13Speaker 2: I hope they don't play him a lot. They did not,
- 39:15Speaker 2: and he's gonna be the face of that program for
- 39:17Speaker 2: a long long time. But those two guys, I think
- 39:20Speaker 2: either one of them have the potential to rise into
- 39:22Speaker 2: the top five if something just sort of freaky happens
- 39:26Speaker 2: early on in the draft.
- 39:28Speaker 1: All right, Brandon Anderson, Brian fin Seka, listen to Buckets, everyone,
