- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:16Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett. On this Wednesday, August nineteenth. Hope
- 0:20Speaker 2: everybody's I was prepared that time. Finally, I hope everybody's
- 0:24Speaker 2: having a great day today. And you know, after a
- 0:28Speaker 2: day I had like yesterday, go hug your family. That's
- 0:30Speaker 2: all I have to say. So we'll leave it at
- 0:32Speaker 2: that right there. But nothing like doing a Tuesday or
- 0:36Speaker 2: random ceremony and having to speak at a funeral, is there.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I mean, that's that is the greatest day thing you
- 0:41Speaker 2: can on the way speak. Yeah, and so I've done
- 0:47Speaker 2: this a couple I spoke at my dad's funeral and
- 0:52Speaker 2: oh yeah, And honestly, you know what, I had fun
- 0:55Speaker 2: with it. That's what you're supposed to do, exactly. And
- 0:58Speaker 2: that's why my day I made fun one of him.
- 1:00Speaker 2: The entire time. I had fun, made people laugh. That's
- 1:03Speaker 2: what my dad would have wonted. I did it my
- 1:06Speaker 2: dad's best friends. I spoke at his funeral. That was
- 1:09Speaker 2: intimidating because there was a lot of people there. Well
- 1:12Speaker 2: there's a lot of people in my dad's but I
- 1:13Speaker 2: mean there was a lot more because a lot of
- 1:15Speaker 2: people knew my dad's best friend. And that one, that
- 1:18Speaker 2: one was intimidating because there was probably I bet you
- 1:21Speaker 2: there was over oney fifteen hundred people at that Holy moly.
- 1:25Speaker 2: And I spoke at that one. I spoke, and then
- 1:28Speaker 2: I spoke at the one yesterday, which was yesterday was
- 1:30Speaker 2: probably the tougher one because it was unexpected and sad.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Were you asked to speak or were you just called
- 1:35Speaker 2: to speak? I was what's the difference? I mean, someone
- 1:39Speaker 2: asking you if you can say a few words, or
- 1:41Speaker 2: are you just sitting in the crowd and say, oh no, no,
- 1:43Speaker 2: I feel the need to say something. I have a calling. No,
- 1:46Speaker 2: I did not have a calling. They asked me to
- 1:49Speaker 2: do the eulogy. Okay, so yeah, I went up there
- 1:51Speaker 2: and did that. And I've never done it at a
- 1:56Speaker 2: well I've done another eulogy, but not like not like
- 1:59Speaker 2: this one.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It was.
- 2:00Speaker 2: This one was hard. I will say I I almost
- 2:04Speaker 2: I choked up a couple of times, and but I
- 2:07Speaker 2: got through it. I mean I just barreled through it
- 2:10Speaker 2: and told some funny stories about my friend. So but anyway, uh, yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 2: that's where we're gonna go with that's the way to
- 2:17Speaker 2: do it. Yeah, and sad moments you have to find
- 2:20Speaker 2: places to laugh. Oh, absolutely, And and I did. I mean,
- 2:24Speaker 2: she had two little dogs that she called her girls,
- 2:27Speaker 2: and I made fun of her. I always made fun
- 2:28Speaker 2: of her that It's like, they're not girls, they're dogs. Okay,
- 2:32Speaker 2: they are not your girls, Jill, they are your dogs.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Let's move on. So yeah, and there were some things
- 2:39Speaker 2: that she she Yeah, she had some extravagant things that
- 2:43Speaker 2: I always made fun of. But anyway, but yeah, she
- 2:47Speaker 2: was a lovely lady, absolutely beautiful lady. And I'm just
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'm sorry to see her go. So anyway, but let's
- 2:53Speaker 2: let's talk about some fun things today instead of me
- 2:55Speaker 2: doing eulogies. Okay, I don't know. I was actually just
- 2:58Speaker 2: getting ready to ask if you could repeat it all?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Oh you want me to repeat the entire thing. No,
- 3:03Speaker 2: we're not doing that. No, but I would you do?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Do you think you could do a funeral in the
- 3:11Speaker 2: eulogy of a close friend? I would like to think so, Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 2: I mean it. I never really thought that I'd be
- 3:17Speaker 2: able to do weddings, and I've done five of them.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I see, I've never done any wedding I would love
- 3:21Speaker 2: to do a wedding. I would like to think that
- 3:23Speaker 2: I could do a eulogy. Yeah, i'd probably I'm like you.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I would try to find humor in it somewhere, to
- 3:29Speaker 2: get people laughing and just remember the good times instead
- 3:33Speaker 2: of the bad ones. Well, it's not just that I
- 3:35Speaker 2: want everybody to laugh out there. It helps me relax
- 3:37Speaker 2: yourre Yeah, because I want to laugh. I don't want
- 3:40Speaker 2: to sit there and just ball out crying the entire time. No,
- 3:43Speaker 2: nobody wants to see that. I think it when you
- 3:46Speaker 2: do choke up a little, I think it does show
- 3:49Speaker 2: the love. So I was I embarrassed by it, No,
- 3:52Speaker 2: But if I had just lost it, I would have
- 3:54Speaker 2: been completely embarrassed. I'll never forget the time one of
- 3:57Speaker 2: my aunts passed away and my dad and my favorite
- 4:01Speaker 2: uncle spoke and my uncle couldn't speak. He lost it.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And he's spoken all over the world in front of
- 4:09Speaker 2: thousands of people, and so he was never intimidated to speak,
- 4:12Speaker 2: but he had never done a funeral like this. My
- 4:15Speaker 2: dad gets up My dad's the same way he's spoken
- 4:19Speaker 2: in front of thousands of people around the world. He
- 4:21Speaker 2: gets up there and he's funny, the entire time, and
- 4:24Speaker 2: for somehow, some way he was able. I hate to
- 4:27Speaker 2: say that about my uncle, but save the day. Nobody wanted.
- 4:29Speaker 2: My aunt would not have wanted to have everybody crying
- 4:32Speaker 2: at her funeral. I don't want people crying at my funeral.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I want it to be just like a New Orleans
- 4:37Speaker 2: funeral where everybody's having a great time. Bands in the
- 4:41Speaker 2: background and playing music. I don't know what kind of
- 4:44Speaker 2: music I'd be playing. It wouldn't be this no offense
- 4:47Speaker 2: to those out there, but it would not be how
- 4:50Speaker 2: great they art are any kind of church him. Okay,
- 4:54Speaker 2: I want some Jimmy Buffett. I want some cold Play.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I want some food fighters rocking me down the al
- 5:00Speaker 2: as they're bringing me into the church. I really scrap
- 5:03Speaker 2: the music altogether. Oh you don't want any music. I
- 5:06Speaker 2: just want a repeat of your laugh in the background. Really,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I think that, my God, I think that would have
- 5:14Speaker 2: everybody smiling. Really, my laugh would have everybody smiling at
- 5:19Speaker 2: my funeral because it's it's contagious. That's very nice you
- 5:22Speaker 2: to say. Okay, my laugh is my laugh. I don't
- 5:25Speaker 2: know how it's contagious, but okay, But anyway, so you
- 5:28Speaker 2: would want me laughing the entire time, as soon as
- 5:32Speaker 2: somebody starts getting emotional thinking about me, and then all
- 5:35Speaker 2: of a sudden, the guy in the background start playing
- 5:37Speaker 2: my laugh. Actually, now that I think about it, I
- 5:40Speaker 2: don't know. That might be a little too much. I
- 5:43Speaker 2: think it's a great idea to a certain point where
- 5:45Speaker 2: it's like, all right, shut the laugh off. But no,
- 5:47Speaker 2: the Minister's back there, all well, you loved Michael, and
- 5:50Speaker 2: then you hear me laughing. All of a sudden, you
- 5:51Speaker 2: just hear me nobody loved me. I don't know. I
- 5:55Speaker 2: don't know what kind of funeral I would want, but
- 5:57Speaker 2: I just I just o and I want a fun one.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I just want a fun one. Everybody has big meal
- 6:03Speaker 2: afterwards and then boom, just get me out of there,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and and y'all get out of there. Let's move on.
- 6:08Speaker 2: We got life to go with. That's right, Yeah, yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 2: who would you want to speak at your funeral? My god,
- 6:14Speaker 2: this is no, I'm not I never once thought about
- 6:24Speaker 2: my own funeral. Well, well exactly neither have I, nor
- 6:28Speaker 2: do I want to. But anyway, all I know is
- 6:31Speaker 2: I got a life insurance policy and it's my funeral
- 6:33Speaker 2: be paid for, so it will be let everybody else
- 6:36Speaker 2: that it must be nice to have your funeral paid for.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I need to borrow a little money from you. So
- 6:41Speaker 2: other than that, I don't have much. Oh, come on, yeah,
- 6:45Speaker 2: I I I listen. It was it was. It was
- 6:48Speaker 2: a tough day, but I'm glad. I will say. I
- 6:51Speaker 2: never am one to wish my life away. As my
- 6:54Speaker 2: dad would always say, you want to hurry up and
- 6:56Speaker 2: have the day over with. Yesterday was one of those days.
- 6:59Speaker 2: It's like, can we just get to stay over with?
- 7:01Speaker 2: And it's one of those stings you have a hard
- 7:02Speaker 2: time going to bed. I mean, I'm exhausted. I had
- 7:04Speaker 2: a hard time going to sleep last night. I tossed
- 7:06Speaker 2: and turned the entire night. But I had some wild dreams.
- 7:10Speaker 2: But anyway, uh so the fair stars tomorrow. Let's talk
- 7:15Speaker 2: about fun stuff now. I'm I am literally looking forward
- 7:19Speaker 2: to the fair. You going tomorrow? I am going tomorrow? Yes,
- 7:21Speaker 2: I do that. I'm going to go see our good
- 7:24Speaker 2: friend j D. Shelburn and concert tomorrow. Yeah. He got me. Uh,
- 7:28Speaker 2: he got me some tickets too. It's free, but evidently
- 7:33Speaker 2: there's a little section there for VIPs. So I'm going
- 7:36Speaker 2: to be a VIP tomorrow. Okay, He ask me, well,
- 7:40Speaker 2: did you did you what? You can go in my
- 7:43Speaker 2: place if you want to go. No, I'll give you
- 7:45Speaker 2: my ticket so you can go. I'd rather go with you.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Oh you're right. Oh yeah, sorry, No, we're not that
- 7:51Speaker 2: good of friends. I'm just kidding, but I'm not kidding.
- 7:56Speaker 2: If you would like to have my ticket, I'd be
- 7:58Speaker 2: more than happy to give it, seriously, if you want it,
- 8:02Speaker 2: I don't. Tomorrow's a school night. I don't know if
- 8:04Speaker 2: I can go out. So how was tomorrow's school night?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Because Friday we have school? You have school? No, because
- 8:13Speaker 2: we came to work. It was funny. I had actually
- 8:15Speaker 2: had a meeting last night and I told the guy.
- 8:18Speaker 2: He was like, you want to come over about four
- 8:19Speaker 2: and I was like, yeah, it's fine. I was like,
- 8:21Speaker 2: but it's a school night, so I want to leave
- 8:23Speaker 2: byt six thirty. That's what I told him. What kind
- 8:25Speaker 2: of a meeting are you having on a Tuesday night?
- 8:27Speaker 3: Oh?
- 8:28Speaker 2: We're getting ready to start a podcast? Oh are you?
- 8:31Speaker 2: We were doing some podcasts planning and lined out. May
- 8:35Speaker 2: I ask the particulars of it? Are we allowed to
- 8:38Speaker 2: know anything about this podcast? Yeah? So it's oh, we
- 8:40Speaker 2: need to promote this. It's it's gonna be on Providence
- 8:43Speaker 2: football that they maybe we branch off from that. But yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 2: he his son is the head coach at Providence. They
- 8:51Speaker 2: they're historically one of the better teams in our area
- 8:54Speaker 2: every year. So we decided, you know what, might as
- 8:56Speaker 2: well just take advantage of it, let him display his
- 8:59Speaker 2: love for Providence and let's do it. Well, where would
- 9:01Speaker 2: you go off from that? I don't I don't understand.
- 9:03Speaker 2: So if it's about Providence football, his son is the
- 9:07Speaker 2: head coach, how do you go off from Providence football
- 9:09Speaker 2: on a podcast? So with my knowledge of Southern Indiana,
- 9:13Speaker 2: we could then expand into like a this Week in
- 9:16Speaker 2: Southern Indiana. Then we could maybe potentially go to Kentucky
- 9:20Speaker 2: and football. I mean, so there's there's lots of room
- 9:23Speaker 2: to grow here. Interesting all right. So always the main
- 9:26Speaker 2: part and discussion being football. It's only football. Now, what
- 9:30Speaker 2: do you do in the off season of football? We
- 9:32Speaker 2: just won't do a podcast, Oh you own, dad, the
- 9:35Speaker 2: way I understand it, Well, we're only going to do
- 9:37Speaker 2: it during the season, which is really good for me
- 9:39Speaker 2: because I have enough on my plate already. I low
- 9:42Speaker 2: key hate that I keep adding things to my late
- 9:44Speaker 2: but here we are and it'll be over. Yeah, I'd
- 9:47Speaker 2: like to talk to you about doing a podcast with me.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Would you be interested? That would be really if you
- 9:51Speaker 2: can figure out all the logistics of it. I'm in no,
- 9:54Speaker 2: because that's what I do it. That's what's been tough
- 9:56Speaker 2: with the two. I've added two shows this week this
- 9:58Speaker 2: this podcast two show, and then over my other station
- 10:01Speaker 2: we also started another show this week. It's a sports
- 10:04Speaker 2: report type show. So it's just like I've got so
- 10:07Speaker 2: much going on and I've had to figure out everything
- 10:10Speaker 2: for both of them. So that's been really I see
- 10:12Speaker 2: what got me into radio, I have a well. I
- 10:16Speaker 2: started with AHA, which which the head coach at Kentucky
- 10:21Speaker 2: Country Day asked me to do play by play for
- 10:26Speaker 2: their sports, so the football and basketball, okay, and it
- 10:31Speaker 2: was a company called AHA. So what they would do
- 10:34Speaker 2: is they would come out was it owned by a Stoner? Uh? Well, boy,
- 10:38Speaker 2: that's true. I think it was just because of high school,
- 10:41Speaker 2: was that? But uh yeah, that's the boy. That would
- 10:44Speaker 2: be a great sponsor. By the way, can you imagine
- 10:49Speaker 2: your Kentucky Country Day football game being brought to you
- 10:52Speaker 2: by Stoner City. I don't know, what is the name
- 10:57Speaker 2: of a pot place? You go by legalized marijuana, you'd
- 11:00Speaker 2: have to go to one of the medical places. Okay,
- 11:02Speaker 2: so stuonder meed, I mean you'd go there? Yeah, bye iha.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So it because Michael benn is now, Aha, you're home
- 11:09Speaker 2: for high school ha yeah exactly aha mom uh but anyway, no,
- 11:15Speaker 2: I So I did that, and they would video it
- 11:18Speaker 2: streaming live online so you could get on the computer
- 11:23Speaker 2: go watch Michael Bennett and one of my other friends
- 11:26Speaker 2: who did color and we had a ball doing it.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And then one of my dad's really good friends who
- 11:31Speaker 2: has been in advertising for UK for many years. He
- 11:38Speaker 2: worked for the company before JM I and so he said, Michael,
- 11:43Speaker 2: you're good at this. We need to do a mignette.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Hell's that on Kentucky high school sports. Mignette is where
- 11:53Speaker 2: you do a sixty or ninety second story on So
- 12:00Speaker 2: he said, uh, let's let's do it on great at
- 12:04Speaker 2: former great athletes from the state of Kentucky. It was
- 12:07Speaker 2: called Great Moments in Kentucky High School Sports. And I
- 12:10Speaker 2: would tell a ninety second story and I think it
- 12:13Speaker 2: ended up being on like forty five different stations throughout
- 12:17Speaker 2: the state. Wow, none here in Louisville. All the little
- 12:21Speaker 2: towns in Kentucky loved it. So I did that and
- 12:25Speaker 2: then it went from that, and then the producer over
- 12:27Speaker 2: at iHeart said, Michael, you need to do a radio show.
- 12:30Speaker 2: And that's that's when you know. A former athletic director
- 12:33Speaker 2: agreed and said, and I think he regretted that ever
- 12:36Speaker 2: since then. But how the heck d spellman? Yet? I
- 12:40Speaker 2: think it's m ig n e u tte. I believe
- 12:45Speaker 2: it is how you spell it or m I in
- 12:49Speaker 2: you am. I I've never heard this word. Oh have
- 12:52Speaker 2: you not? No? Yeah, it's just a small segment, very
- 12:56Speaker 2: rare that I hear a word. Yeah on the I
- 12:58Speaker 2: don't know if you looked it up, if it would
- 13:00Speaker 2: come across anything. But it was a black All I'm
- 13:03Speaker 2: seeing is a sauce, what made with minced shallots, cracked
- 13:08Speaker 2: pepper and vinegar. That's a vignyette, traditionally served with all
- 13:11Speaker 2: that's mignette. Okay, I tell you it's a vignette. I
- 13:15Speaker 2: told you're wrong. Vignyette. I believe it's what it's called
- 13:18Speaker 2: with a V as in Victor. But anyway, and that's how.
- 13:22Speaker 2: That's how we are where we are today. So uh,
- 13:24Speaker 2: there you go. Now we got yeah, okay, now you
- 13:26Speaker 2: got it? All right? Yeah, Kentucky. I just wonder if
- 13:29Speaker 2: it's up there. I had to look during the break,
- 13:30Speaker 2: but uh, all right. But uh so Kentucky State Fair tomorrow,
- 13:36Speaker 2: are you going to go at all? Probably not? No,
- 13:39Speaker 2: I mean I'm not a state fairgoer most years. I really.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I think I told you last year. I hadn't been
- 13:44Speaker 2: since I was probably thirteen fourteen. Maybe I might have
- 13:48Speaker 2: been sixteen at the time, but yeah, it's been a
- 13:50Speaker 2: really long time. Yeah. I don't do the rides. I
- 13:53Speaker 2: wouldn't either. I just I would want to go for
- 13:55Speaker 2: the food. Yeah, that's the food. I like seeing the cows.
- 13:59Speaker 2: How's the How is the pricing of the food? Does
- 14:02Speaker 2: it cost? Is its cost a fishing or no? No,
- 14:05Speaker 2: it's expense pretty high. Yeah. I got to get my
- 14:08Speaker 2: as you know, we talked about it Monday. Gotta get
- 14:10Speaker 2: my pork chop sandwich, uh and my funnel cake and that,
- 14:13Speaker 2: and then I'm done. I gotta go see the cows.
- 14:15Speaker 2: And then I love going through the one Expo center
- 14:18Speaker 2: where they have all the junk booths. I love that,
- 14:21Speaker 2: and that's it. I'm done. I'll go see I'll go
- 14:25Speaker 2: see the other animals. But how long on how much
- 14:28Speaker 2: time we had when you go there typically a normal
- 14:31Speaker 2: year when you're not seeing JD. How long do you
- 14:34Speaker 2: stay normally two hours? Okay, yeah, I'm is there a
- 14:38Speaker 2: lot of people there during the day. Oh h well,
- 14:40Speaker 2: it depends on what day. If it's a weekend, it's
- 14:42Speaker 2: pretty packed. But like if tomorrow, don't be nobody there,
- 14:45Speaker 2: I don't think it'll be that crowded. School started. That's
- 14:48Speaker 2: why I've never understood the whole keeping the fair at
- 14:50Speaker 2: this date when school has started now, because you know,
- 14:52Speaker 2: when I was a kid, school did not start until
- 14:55Speaker 2: the Monday after the fair was over, and that was it.
- 14:59Speaker 2: You knew something it was over. Now you start so early.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I don't know. I've never liked the change to the
- 15:05Speaker 2: dates of the fair, our school starting the fair, state
- 15:10Speaker 2: the same. I don't know. It's been a bit of
- 15:12Speaker 2: a bummer, but I love the state Fair. Our State
- 15:14Speaker 2: Fair is a great state fair with the old song
- 15:16Speaker 2: that my dad used to sing. But anyway, all right,
- 15:19Speaker 2: I do want to talk about this because I found
- 15:22Speaker 2: this fairly interesting. A member of the NC DOUBLEA responded
- 15:30Speaker 2: this week to Field of sixty eight talking about the
- 15:35Speaker 2: NC Double A may not be able to threaten teams
- 15:38Speaker 2: that use players deemed ineligible by the NC DOUBLEA, but
- 15:43Speaker 2: I can penalize them, and so can other committee members
- 15:48Speaker 2: if they want, whether it's by seating or even not
- 15:53Speaker 2: including them in the field. I mean, is that a
- 15:57Speaker 2: threat by the now? And do you think this is
- 16:02Speaker 2: a vile threat or do you think this is a
- 16:05Speaker 2: real threat and could potentially start a whole new level
- 16:09Speaker 2: of a lawsuit. It's an empty threat. You think it's
- 16:12Speaker 2: an empty threat? Really? I mean, when is the NC
- 16:15Speaker 2: DOUBLEA shown the ability to actually back up what they said? Nothing?
- 16:19Speaker 2: I now have an instance at all other than a
- 16:23Speaker 2: University Tennessee football player, wasn't it that got penalized two
- 16:27Speaker 2: games because he took a flight that he paid back.
- 16:32Speaker 2: It was just ridiculous. I mean, they're honestly, they're like
- 16:35Speaker 2: they were like one of those kids that gets bullied
- 16:37Speaker 2: his whole life and then finally when he gets to
- 16:39Speaker 2: be like just a little more school, Yeah, he starts
- 16:43Speaker 2: to find his voice and he wants to bully everybody.
- 16:46Speaker 2: But he just looks like an idiot because he doesn't
- 16:47Speaker 2: know how to bully, despite being bullied his whole life.
- 16:50Speaker 2: So how do you feel about the nc double How
- 16:52Speaker 2: could he not do that? I mean, honestly, if you
- 16:55Speaker 2: look at schools that are out there and coaches that
- 16:59Speaker 2: are out there doing this bringing in players that are
- 17:01Speaker 2: a little on the questionable side, what would stop the
- 17:06Speaker 2: NCAA from saying, Okay, you're not in the NCAA tournament,
- 17:10Speaker 2: or are you now going to be a a fifteen
- 17:15Speaker 2: seed and now you've got a really difficult schedule to
- 17:19Speaker 2: get through that tournament. I mean they they, I honestly
- 17:24Speaker 2: don't think they could seed somebody that well, because you
- 17:27Speaker 2: have to keep the integrity of the sport and then
- 17:29Speaker 2: the integrity of March madness, and that's you can't have
- 17:32Speaker 2: any sort of bias in that. But you might have
- 17:34Speaker 2: a couple of years that you suffer through this because
- 17:38Speaker 2: of them trying to change the narrative, and not just
- 17:41Speaker 2: change the narrative, but get more people to change the respect,
- 17:44Speaker 2: because there's no respect right now, none at all. I mean,
- 17:47Speaker 2: they are Rodney dangerous, but I mean I don't, honestly,
- 17:49Speaker 2: I don't know how the nc DOUAA is even keeping
- 17:51Speaker 2: up with all this because with the amount of injunction
- 17:54Speaker 2: injunctions that are going on across the country, and they
- 17:57Speaker 2: all have different legalese talking where do you start? You know,
- 18:04Speaker 2: I don't know where you start. Now I'm guessing this
- 18:07Speaker 2: is how you could start it. Right here's the NCAA tournament.
- 18:10Speaker 2: It would just it would solve them a lot of
- 18:12Speaker 2: headaches if they just said, all right, fine, you all
- 18:14Speaker 2: win this time. Everybody that played last year gets another year.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Doesn't matter where you played, go play wherever the hell
- 18:21Speaker 2: you want, and then moving forward, we're not dealing with
- 18:23Speaker 2: this anymore. That that solves everything right there, And I
- 18:26Speaker 2: get it, that's that's not what they want because I
- 18:28Speaker 2: don't think that's what's best for the game. But that
- 18:32Speaker 2: solves all their issues right there. Yeah, but then you
- 18:34Speaker 2: set a precedent, and once you set that precedent, guess
- 18:37Speaker 2: what then those teams, those schools will go to the
- 18:41Speaker 2: their particular judge in that area and say, listen, we
- 18:45Speaker 2: were allowed to do this last year, why can't we
- 18:47Speaker 2: now do it this year? We need to be allowed
- 18:50Speaker 2: to continue to do this. Isn't the five or five
- 18:53Speaker 2: official moving forward, I hope. So I think it is
- 18:56Speaker 2: like this, this is the first year that they had
- 18:58Speaker 2: voted to make it happen, and I think moving forward,
- 19:00Speaker 2: every body will get five or five Well, then move
- 19:03Speaker 2: on exactly. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Just throw a
- 19:05Speaker 2: blanket over this whole thing, tell them they can all play,
- 19:08Speaker 2: and let's let's move on. Because I'm sick of talking
- 19:10Speaker 2: about it. I don't understand the legal east side of it.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I never will, never have, never will and I don't
- 19:16Speaker 2: really want to. But I don't like I'm just make
- 19:20Speaker 2: it happen. Come on, Yeah, I'm right there with you.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I cared it first, I don't care anymore. No, I'm
- 19:27Speaker 2: to a point I don't either. And but but you've
- 19:30Speaker 2: got to result. You have to have a governing body, though,
- 19:34Speaker 2: and when there isn't a single school in this country
- 19:37Speaker 2: that's paying attentioning to the governing body, then it's the
- 19:40Speaker 2: wild wild West. So do you years, well, years and
- 19:44Speaker 2: years they haven't paid a ten. I think some schools have,
- 19:47Speaker 2: some have it. I think I think the one that
- 19:52Speaker 2: the national media does not want to talk about is
- 19:54Speaker 2: Duke University and the fact that they have continued to
- 19:58Speaker 2: just absolutely. Actually, when Mike Krzyzewsky was head coach, totally
- 20:02Speaker 2: ignore the nc DOUBLEA, Totally ignore him. And they've gotten
- 20:06Speaker 2: away with it for years, and I think they've continued
- 20:08Speaker 2: to do that. John Shard has been doing the exact
- 20:10Speaker 2: same thing. If they're doing something and are getting ready
- 20:13Speaker 2: to have an NC double A member come in, they're
- 20:16Speaker 2: just like that, we don't need to see you. They
- 20:19Speaker 2: just ignore them. I mean, isn't shouldn't that be how
- 20:21Speaker 2: everyone operates? You would know? So knowing that the NCAA
- 20:24Speaker 2: Double A is not gonna do anything, it's like the
- 20:26Speaker 2: whole Louisville banner thing. I don't understand why they haven't
- 20:30Speaker 2: thrown their banner back up, because what's the nc DOT
- 20:32Speaker 2: going to do? I am surprised about that as well.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I've never understood that. I guarantee you if Tom Jerk
- 20:41Speaker 2: was still involved as the athletic director at u L
- 20:45Speaker 2: that banner would be back up. I don't know what
- 20:47Speaker 2: is held up Josh heard from doing it. I just
- 20:50Speaker 2: don't know why he's scared. I don't either or why.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Maybe it's not just John Josh hurt, but maybe it's
- 20:57Speaker 2: the entire university. They don't want to do it, but
- 21:00Speaker 2: that that is a crazy situation, and uh, but who knows,
- 21:05Speaker 2: But we gotta take a break. Five O two three
- 21:07Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty. You want to call five oh two
- 21:09Speaker 2: four one four fourteen fifty. You want to text in
- 21:11Speaker 2: on the Whiskey Teek text line, or you tweet me
- 21:14Speaker 2: at just Cat Radio. Plus we're on YouTube right now.
- 21:16Speaker 2: If you want to go check us out. You can
- 21:18Speaker 2: look up Big X Sports Radio Louisville and and uh
- 21:21Speaker 2: find out ridiculous looking faces, or just listen right there.
- 21:23Speaker 2: You don't have to look at us, just just listen.
- 21:25Speaker 2: So anyway, we got we got a lot to talk
- 21:28Speaker 2: about today. Missing yesterday, it makes more topics for the
- 21:32Speaker 2: next day. So we got a lot, a lot, so
- 21:35Speaker 2: a lot of stuff are really excited about talking about.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Stay right there, more just CAATs coming right up. People said,
- 21:52Speaker 2: it was you.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Slow, what's the fun?
- 22:17Speaker 3: I walked forward to seven mile Bob Wyer, I got
- 22:19Speaker 3: a Cooper.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Sniff for nick time.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I've made a new house on the rules side, and
- 22:24Speaker 3: it's I'm made out a rattle snip high gotta read
- 22:27Speaker 3: a bood on top, and.
- 22:28Speaker 2: It's I made out of human skull. I'm gonna take
- 22:31Speaker 2: a little walk with a bit in tell me hoo, Hello,
- 22:35Speaker 2: were you a big George fan back in the day?
- 22:39Speaker 2: You were not? I like George? I like him. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:44Speaker 2: I wasn't a huge fan, but I like some of
- 22:45Speaker 2: his stuff. That's a good song right there. By the way.
- 22:48Speaker 2: We're not being streamed or on YouTube, is what I'm
- 22:51Speaker 2: being told. Excuse me, Yeah, we are definitely on YouTube. Really, okay, good,
- 22:56Speaker 2: let me verify on my side. But yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 2: all right, Well he's not what I can say. We
- 23:00Speaker 2: are good to go. I'm getting a notification from Michelle.
- 23:04Speaker 2: We are not on screaming or on YouTube. We're definitely
- 23:08Speaker 2: on YouTube. Michelle. I'm staring at her right now. Okay, good,
- 23:11Speaker 2: all right. Then, well that's not a good thing. You
- 23:13Speaker 2: don't want to be staring at that. But all right,
- 23:16Speaker 2: let's talk about a couple of things. Number one, it's
- 23:20Speaker 2: being said, breaking little breaking news this morning that Kentucky
- 23:24Speaker 2: set to hire Alex Brown as the football program's new
- 23:28Speaker 2: assistant general manager. He's a longtime college front office staffer
- 23:32Speaker 2: at Old Miss SMU Rice in Houston. He also scouted
- 23:36Speaker 2: for the Atlanta Falcons. So there you go. I don't
- 23:41Speaker 2: know much about Alex Brown other than that, so coming
- 23:47Speaker 2: from Old Miss, listen, if he was working down there,
- 23:52Speaker 2: I would say he's doing a pretty good job down there.
- 23:54Speaker 2: So now being somebody said, well, great, these are not
- 24:00Speaker 2: their low rent football teams, it's like, well, I wouldn't
- 24:02Speaker 2: say Old Misses, I wouldn't say SMU is SMU has
- 24:06Speaker 2: been very successful in football rice in Houston. Yeah, maybe so,
- 24:10Speaker 2: but come on man, uh and so good for them
- 24:16Speaker 2: to uh take Pete knock this place? Who's now the
- 24:19Speaker 2: head GM at UK And now we got this young man.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Did you know we get Old Miss and LSU in
- 24:28Speaker 2: week three? What do you mean? We get Old Miss
- 24:32Speaker 2: and LSU in week three? They play in the third week.
- 24:35Speaker 2: That's gonna be all really the whole aane gifven thing.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I can't wait for that. Well I can't either, But
- 24:42Speaker 2: that's really early. You think it would be a little
- 24:44Speaker 2: later in the season. Third week? Wow? Yeah? That there?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Where is that game being played? By the way, that's
- 24:50Speaker 2: a great because if it's at Old Miss in Oxford, Mississippi,
- 24:54Speaker 2: Oh man, there's gonna be all kinds of security on
- 24:57Speaker 2: lane Kiff. I want to say it is, Oh really,
- 25:01Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Okay, that's gonna be must watch TV
- 25:05Speaker 2: as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, I mean I don't.
- 25:07Speaker 2: I'm not one of those guys that locks into certain
- 25:09Speaker 2: matchups every week. That's one I will be absolutely yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 2: And I would have to say that's probably the game
- 25:16Speaker 2: of the entire year that I would want to watch
- 25:19Speaker 2: outside of UK bar nun. It is Oxford. It is
- 25:23Speaker 2: in Oxford. Wow. You know what's even crazier about that?
- 25:27Speaker 2: So I mentioned this, it's the third week of the season.
- 25:30Speaker 2: They've already got a spread out on that game. Do
- 25:32Speaker 2: they really? Yeah? Three weeks into the season, Ole Miss
- 25:35Speaker 2: is a one and a half point favorite. I mean
- 25:37Speaker 2: we're still what three weeks away from football? So that's
- 25:41Speaker 2: six weeks away and they gotta spread all and the
- 25:43Speaker 2: spread is what one and a half for free? Oh
- 25:47Speaker 2: so it's a it's a flip, actually they So SMU
- 25:50Speaker 2: and Louisville also play in the third week. There's a
- 25:52Speaker 2: spread on that game as well, which one again Louisville
- 25:55Speaker 2: and SMU. Yeah, that's a pretty good game. And that's
- 26:00Speaker 2: down in Texas, isn't it. No, it's a Louisville. Oh,
- 26:04Speaker 2: this at ufl Oh geez, here we go. This is
- 26:07Speaker 2: an easy schedule for U of L ten and two
- 26:11Speaker 2: coming right up? I see, and I don't buy that.
- 26:14Speaker 2: I say eleven and one. Who's gonna who else is
- 26:18Speaker 2: gonna beat him? Oh? Miss I, no, no, that's the
- 26:21Speaker 2: one loss. I agree, But who else is going to
- 26:22Speaker 2: beat him besides old miss? I wouldn't be surprised if
- 26:25Speaker 2: you got him really at Louisville. Well there, Jeff Brom.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I mean, there's always a slip up. They lose a
- 26:30Speaker 2: game they shouldn't lose every single year. That happened last
- 26:33Speaker 2: year Virginia Cal. Those are two definite games. I want
- 26:36Speaker 2: to say, Stanford the year before. That's right, Stanford was
- 26:40Speaker 2: the year before, So all right, uh yeah, there's always
- 26:43Speaker 2: a goofy one toss too. Yeah, well, I I don't know.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I mean if I said that to uh, you know,
- 26:48Speaker 2: my good friend that had a birthday a couple of
- 26:50Speaker 2: days ago, he'd be laughing at me. So uh but
- 26:53Speaker 2: uh uh all right, um. Head coach of Auburn football
- 26:59Speaker 2: Ox Gouligh did something that I actually really like last
- 27:06Speaker 2: couple of days. He brought in the Auburn band into
- 27:10Speaker 2: the team room to teach the team, the football team,
- 27:15Speaker 2: the Auburn fight song. The band director says, that's the
- 27:19Speaker 2: first time in twenty years he's been asked to do that.
- 27:23Speaker 2: And I thought about this, and I'm thinking, Okay, shouldn't
- 27:28Speaker 2: every athlete at a respect to school like University Kentucky.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Shouldn't they all know the fight song? In fact, I'll
- 27:36Speaker 2: even take it a step further. Shouldn't every incoming freshman
- 27:41Speaker 2: into the University of Kentucky be required to learn the
- 27:45Speaker 2: University of Kentucky fight song? I mean, I think that
- 27:50Speaker 2: goes on in a majority of colleges. I mean it
- 27:54Speaker 2: does that I know of. I remember my orientation at IU.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I mean we learned the fight song. Oh did you really?
- 28:00Speaker 2: We had to learn how to do like the IU correctly,
- 28:02Speaker 2: like the fist and blades.
- 28:04Speaker 4: I like that.
- 28:05Speaker 2: So, yeah, we had to go through a lot of
- 28:06Speaker 2: that stuff. Do you know the name of Well, you
- 28:09Speaker 2: know the name of the UK fight song, don't you,
- 28:11Speaker 2: because you play it on UK exactly. I couldn't tell
- 28:15Speaker 2: you who I use fight song. I couldn't tell you
- 28:18Speaker 2: who U of L's fight song is. I just know
- 28:22Speaker 2: I don't know Louisville. Yeah, I don't know U of
- 28:26Speaker 2: L's and only thing I know about I use fight
- 28:28Speaker 2: song is at the very end they always go I
- 28:30Speaker 2: you and that's it. That's all I know Indiana. But
- 28:33Speaker 2: I thought, I thought this should be a requirement. And
- 28:38Speaker 2: I'm I'm hoping that uh will Stein does this for
- 28:42Speaker 2: the the football team. I'm hoping that Mark Pope does this.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I mean Mark Pope claims to be mister UK, and
- 28:50Speaker 2: I hope that he has his players learning to fight song,
- 28:53Speaker 2: probably singing in the middle of practice, probably so I
- 28:56Speaker 2: think when they're doing drills, they should be singing the
- 28:59Speaker 2: fight song. I think that's great, all right. I'm trying
- 29:03Speaker 2: to think if I know some of the lyrics of
- 29:06Speaker 2: the fight song. I know some of it. I know
- 29:07Speaker 2: it's on on UK. We are right for the fight
- 29:11Speaker 2: to day. That's all I got. Get the ball and
- 29:17Speaker 2: hold the line. Every Wildcat star will shine, will fight, fight,
- 29:23Speaker 2: fight for the Blue and White till we roll to
- 29:27Speaker 2: that goal Farsity. We will kick, block and run till
- 29:31Speaker 2: the battle is won and bring home the victory. Now,
- 29:36Speaker 2: I don't know, I am. I promise you you're pretty
- 29:39Speaker 2: spot on. No, I promise you there is as there
- 29:42Speaker 2: is nothing I know I did. There is nothing in
- 29:46Speaker 2: here that has the fight song on it. I'm going
- 29:48Speaker 2: purely from memory. All right. What did I mess out
- 29:51Speaker 2: at the end? He said and bring home the victory?
- 29:53Speaker 2: It's and will bring home the victory? Oh? Come on, really,
- 29:57Speaker 2: I'm just saying you missed the word. I thought I
- 30:00Speaker 2: and we'll bring home the victory. Maybe I didn't, Okay,
- 30:03Speaker 2: I'll trust your judgment right there, but I was pretty
- 30:05Speaker 2: close to it. I am proud of myself because I
- 30:08Speaker 2: haven't sung that song in a long time. Do you
- 30:11Speaker 2: know the year that song was released? Ooh, that's a
- 30:14Speaker 2: great question. All right, let me think about this. I
- 30:17Speaker 2: would say it was released in nineteen forty six, nineteen
- 30:22Speaker 2: forty seven, No earlier then, Oh, it was really earlier then.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I don't know. In a thirty twenty five? Are you
- 30:30Speaker 2: kidding me? You mean on on UK is one hundred
- 30:34Speaker 2: and one years old? Anything about it last year? At UK?
- 30:37Speaker 2: You're right, they should have they should have had something
- 30:40Speaker 2: going on to celebrate one hundred years of on UK.
- 30:45Speaker 2: That's a tragedy. I mean that really, because I will say,
- 30:49Speaker 2: there are fight songs out there that are pretty iconic.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I've always thought UK's fight song is fantastic. I'm a big,
- 30:57Speaker 2: big fan of UK's fight song. If you were to
- 31:02Speaker 2: name fight schools that have fight songs that you know,
- 31:07Speaker 2: you know, I'm not saying the lyrics, but you at
- 31:09Speaker 2: least know the music, what would be? Can you name
- 31:14Speaker 2: five schools?
- 31:15Speaker 1: No?
- 31:16Speaker 2: Can you name three schools? I don't think so. Really,
- 31:22Speaker 2: I mean if you if you take out all of
- 31:23Speaker 2: our local schools obviously, I mean I could name Indiana, Kentucky,
- 31:26Speaker 2: and Tennessee. That's about Rocky Top. That's right, it's about
- 31:30Speaker 2: where I could name Alabama's I could name Oh do it?
- 31:38Speaker 2: It's the said you could name it, then you didn't
- 31:40Speaker 2: name it. Oh, I'm sorry. It's the h Alabama song
- 31:50Speaker 2: Sweet Home Alabama. I don't know what it is. Uh,
- 31:53Speaker 2: all right, uh, Michigan Dan and then but you don't
- 31:59Speaker 2: know what it's called. No, I don't know what it's called.
- 32:01Speaker 2: But I know the music. I said, Do you know
- 32:03Speaker 2: the music? Oh? Yeah, I mean I know the music
- 32:05Speaker 2: for self. That's what I'm time asking. Well, imost heard you? Okay,
- 32:09Speaker 2: my bad, Yeah, you're not listening. I'm listening right. How
- 32:12Speaker 2: many schools can you name the music, not the name
- 32:16Speaker 2: of the fight song. I think Notre Dame is one
- 32:18Speaker 2: that you would remember. I mean, I still think I'm
- 32:21Speaker 2: at five really maybe, Okay, I'm trying to think of
- 32:27Speaker 2: if there's more that I could think of, but I
- 32:29Speaker 2: know you're right about Tennessee. That's that's definitely one that
- 32:32Speaker 2: you always remember. All right, Let's go to the Whiskey
- 32:35Speaker 2: Thief text line five oo two four one four fourteen fifty. Hey,
- 32:40Speaker 2: sunrise without Scoots. Hey, I love the way this starts out, right, Now,
- 32:44Speaker 2: do you have do you want to give an explanation
- 32:47Speaker 2: as to why there was no sunrise without Scoots? And
- 32:50Speaker 2: it's overslept and that never happened. Happens you come completely overslept?
- 32:57Speaker 2: What time did you wake up to coming to the studio.
- 32:59Speaker 2: It was a about six oh real when when I
- 33:03Speaker 2: opened my eyes and I realized immediately it is entirely
- 33:06Speaker 2: too bright out. Did you freak out? Not really, because
- 33:09Speaker 2: I knew at that moment there's anything but literally nothing
- 33:12Speaker 2: I could do. All right, So all right, let's get
- 33:14Speaker 2: back to the text. Hey, sunrise without Scoots. The easiest
- 33:17Speaker 2: way to make poached eggs in the microwave is in
- 33:19Speaker 2: the microwave. We all can't get our beauty sleep or
- 33:22Speaker 2: have time to make eggs the old fashioned way. Don't
- 33:25Speaker 2: knock it till you try it. I don't eat eggs.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I mean so, I gave Buzz crap yesterday because he
- 33:31Speaker 2: was making eggs in the microwave. But and that's not
- 33:34Speaker 2: my preferred method. I'd much rather cook them on the stove.
- 33:37Speaker 2: But I don't ever have time to make eggs, so
- 33:39Speaker 2: I'm not sitting there slinging eggs on my stovetop. Once
- 33:42Speaker 2: a week, I want eggs because you know, majority of
- 33:47Speaker 2: the time, my breakfast is a breakfast bar. I had
- 33:50Speaker 2: a kind bar this morning. They're fantastic, by the way,
- 33:52Speaker 2: I love. Have you had the bear bells? You should
- 33:55Speaker 2: look into those. Oh really they're incredible? Are they really? Yeah?
- 34:00Speaker 2: How are they incredible? They're just so delicious? What are they?
- 34:03Speaker 2: They're like a protein bar? But oh they are. Oh
- 34:05Speaker 2: My mom smashes them and they're so good. Okay, I
- 34:08Speaker 2: might have to look at one of those, all right. Uh,
- 34:11Speaker 2: I like eggs on Saturday, and that's my usual. If
- 34:14Speaker 2: you want to come meet me, all you got to
- 34:16Speaker 2: do is come to Dairy Queen in Prospect, Kentucky, and
- 34:20Speaker 2: you will meet Michael Bennett, becuse that's where I am
- 34:22Speaker 2: on Saturday mornings. I just I think they have a
- 34:24Speaker 2: phenomenal breakfast. If I really want to go out a
- 34:27Speaker 2: little wilder, I love waffle House. I make it easy. Huh,
- 34:33Speaker 2: take it easy? What's wrong with that? Wil'n out? I
- 34:37Speaker 2: mean that they have the best hash browns in the world.
- 34:42Speaker 2: And you know you've heard me talk about I'll get
- 34:44Speaker 2: two eggs, sunny side up, pork chops and white toast.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Don't shake your head no till you try it. It's
- 34:51Speaker 2: fantos breakfast, all right. The only way I like poached eggs,
- 34:56Speaker 2: but I bowl them. I bowl them in a pan
- 34:58Speaker 2: or a pot. Seven minutes boom, They're done. Best poach
- 35:02Speaker 2: eggs you ever had. I don't know how mister Illinois
- 35:05Speaker 2: does this. I mean, do you put it in water
- 35:08Speaker 2: and then in the microwave? Are you just setting the
- 35:11Speaker 2: two eggs in the microwave for how long? I'm just
- 35:14Speaker 2: I'm not eating. I don't know. I'm kind of skeptical
- 35:17Speaker 2: about microwave food anyways. Ever since I got an air fryer,
- 35:20Speaker 2: it just it feels like the better option. And I
- 35:23Speaker 2: haven't done that yet so you can poach eggs in
- 35:25Speaker 2: an air fryar Oh, I have no idea. Well, you
- 35:28Speaker 2: we're talking about cooking eggs and you're talking about air fry. Again.
- 35:31Speaker 2: If I'm cooking eggs, I'm using the stovetop. That's okay,
- 35:34Speaker 2: that's the only way to do it. Uh, John here man,
- 35:38Speaker 2: it's good to hear Michael and justin getting the morning
- 35:40Speaker 2: going this morning. Hey, Michael, who would be better Kentucky
- 35:44Speaker 2: basketball and coach Pope? Should we add Mark Mitchell it
- 35:50Speaker 2: if he gets the okay by the courts? Or would
- 35:54Speaker 2: Jackson Cohler be a better option? What do y'all think?
- 35:58Speaker 2: I think Coler, why do you say he's a better shoo?
- 36:02Speaker 2: I just like Cohler's game a little bit more and
- 36:04Speaker 2: you don't have that worry about exactly room exactly. That's
- 36:09Speaker 2: where I'm going with it. As soon as you said
- 36:11Speaker 2: it's like, okay, you're going down the same path. I'm
- 36:13Speaker 2: thinking right there, and I think, well, this is purely
- 36:18Speaker 2: an assumption. I think that's why you've seen other players
- 36:21Speaker 2: come up that they might consider. It's like, oh, here's
- 36:24Speaker 2: an option, Oh here's an option. So honestly, I'm with
- 36:28Speaker 2: you right there. Justin. I think Jason Cohler would be
- 36:30Speaker 2: the better option purely because of the fact there's there's
- 36:32Speaker 2: no threat. Because listen, the one thing that was an
- 36:36Speaker 2: issue clearly last season on that univers Kentucky basketball team
- 36:43Speaker 2: was the locker issue. We never got to hear what
- 36:47Speaker 2: was going on, but Mark Pope indicated there was a
- 36:51Speaker 2: little issue in there before a few games. So I
- 36:57Speaker 2: think the better option is going to be Jackson Cohler
- 36:59Speaker 2: right there for you. So any question, right, and he
- 37:01Speaker 2: just gives you more shooting. Which who doesn't want more shooting? Well, yeah, exactly.
- 37:09Speaker 2: You know, Mark Pope wants more shooting. And by the way,
- 37:12Speaker 2: we're gonna talk about a little later, Kenny Brooks wants
- 37:14Speaker 2: more shooting. He's coming out sound a little bit like
- 37:17Speaker 2: Mark Pope. So all right, we got to take another
- 37:19Speaker 2: break five O two three four fourteen fifty five O
- 37:21Speaker 2: two four to one four fourteen fifty Keep those texts
- 37:25Speaker 2: coming in. I really appreciate on the Whiskey Thief text line,
- 37:27Speaker 2: stay right there one more segment of this hour, but
- 37:30Speaker 2: we still got another whole hour after that. Tunes stay
- 37:33Speaker 2: right there, just the cats. I'm absolutely enjoying some of
- 38:07Speaker 2: the people that are blasting you for missing this morning. Okay,
- 38:10Speaker 2: p J. Walker, since you had texts are a tweet
- 38:15Speaker 2: and said your show should now be called sometimes with Scoots.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Yeah that's been a running joke. Oh I'm sorry, I
- 38:22Speaker 2: haven't heard that before. Yeah, that's been a thing. Okay,
- 38:26Speaker 2: all right, then I thought it was rather funny. So
- 38:29Speaker 2: never mind. Nick roush Over also overslept today. What do
- 38:32Speaker 2: you mean they just said on Twitter he overslept? Well,
- 38:35Speaker 2: where was he going at? It's something in the water.
- 38:37Speaker 2: He's not on the radio, So what diff was a make?
- 38:40Speaker 2: I think they're going to Lexington today. Oh what's going
- 38:42Speaker 2: on in Lexington? Happening there? I think? Should I be there?
- 38:44Speaker 2: I think Peak's going up there. Peak told me yesterday
- 38:47Speaker 2: he was gonna be with Ralsh and look at today,
- 38:49Speaker 2: So they're going up for Oh okay, well I get enough,
- 38:54Speaker 2: so I don't need to go all the time. What
- 38:56Speaker 2: do you think that lots of people criticized an ESPN yesterday.
- 39:00Speaker 2: So the founder of ESPN, Bill Resmusen, passed away, okay,
- 39:05Speaker 2: ninety three years old, iconic man for what he was
- 39:10Speaker 2: able to do. But they were giving him, you know,
- 39:15Speaker 2: you know, some honor on ESPN. The broadcaster was talking about,
- 39:20Speaker 2: you know, all the great things he did and honoring
- 39:22Speaker 2: him regarding his memorialm I guess, regarding his passing, and
- 39:29Speaker 2: they completely cut it off to start the Pat McAfee show.
- 39:34Speaker 2: You did see that. It was like, lots of people
- 39:37Speaker 2: are saying, that is so ESPN. Hey McAfee can't catch
- 39:42Speaker 2: a break because not only are they blaming ESPN, but
- 39:45Speaker 2: they're also blaming Pat McAfee, who had literally nothing to
- 39:49Speaker 2: do with it. But I think it's funny that he
- 39:52Speaker 2: continues to just be so ridiculed about any little thing
- 39:59Speaker 2: I love. It's like this wasn't deserved to McAfee. I'll
- 40:05Speaker 2: be honest with you there. Okay, oh there's that thing
- 40:07Speaker 2: I say. My wife can't stand when I do that
- 40:10Speaker 2: because I'm lying all the rest of the time. But
- 40:12Speaker 2: I look at this and think, yeah, that was pretty
- 40:15Speaker 2: bad when you're talking about the founding person of your station.
- 40:21Speaker 2: The least they could do is let them finish talking,
- 40:24Speaker 2: or hey, here's a novel idea. Let them start a
- 40:27Speaker 2: little earlier if you have to break hard at this
- 40:29Speaker 2: one particular time. Okay, I agree, but I mean, what
- 40:34Speaker 2: what was he up there thinking? You know, I bet
- 40:36Speaker 2: he'd laughed. He probably did. Yeah, he said, yeah, McFee
- 40:39Speaker 2: he didn't deserve probably saying McFee didn't deserve the money
- 40:42Speaker 2: he's getting. Does he always have to stand up when
- 40:45Speaker 2: he's doing his show? Yeah, that's where you get the
- 40:47Speaker 2: most energy.
- 40:48Speaker 3: Is it?
- 40:48Speaker 2: Really? Should I start doing that? I mean, if you
- 40:51Speaker 2: don't see my belly button, if I stand up on
- 40:53Speaker 2: we're on YouTube, we can adjust the camera. Really, Okay,
- 40:57Speaker 2: I was dealing with nerve, Like, what was that three
- 41:01Speaker 2: four years ago? Right? I had to do. I stood
- 41:04Speaker 2: up my whole shift for like a week and a
- 41:06Speaker 2: half straight, did you really? Because it just wasn't worth
- 41:08Speaker 2: it to try and sit down. I like standing up.
- 41:11Speaker 2: You know, they invented those standing up desks a few
- 41:15Speaker 2: years back. My wife has one. She swears by it.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Still uses it now. She didn't use it all the time.
- 41:20Speaker 2: But I don't know. I think when I'm standing and talking,
- 41:24Speaker 2: I do a lot better thing. But what is it
- 41:26Speaker 2: about standing and talking that makes you think better? I
- 41:29Speaker 2: don't know. I mean, like when I'm over at the
- 41:31Speaker 2: other station, all the stuff that I record, I do
- 41:34Speaker 2: it standing up too. Really, I think the energy is
- 41:37Speaker 2: better and like, if I'm calling a game like on
- 41:40Speaker 2: Friday nights, I'll stand the entire game because I just
- 41:43Speaker 2: I think it comes across better. You get you just
- 41:45Speaker 2: feel more energy. I feel like you do. Okay. I
- 41:49Speaker 2: like standing up. But unfortunately after falling off falling down
- 41:54Speaker 2: a bunch, just because I was doing some activities, I
- 41:59Speaker 2: hurt my back to where I can't stand up for
- 42:02Speaker 2: a long periods of time. Yeah, I try to. I
- 42:06Speaker 2: gotta walk and lose more weight and now I'll be
- 42:08Speaker 2: able to. I'll be okay after that. Yeah, I fall
- 42:10Speaker 2: off horses. Okay, I fell off horses. I was like,
- 42:13Speaker 2: I don't know what you were going for the Oh
- 42:15Speaker 2: really I fell off horses. I did that a whole bunch.
- 42:18Speaker 2: One person texted in five O two three four fourteen
- 42:21Speaker 2: fifty U of L Songs is I got hose area
- 42:24Speaker 2: codes and it's by Ludacrous. Pretty good. Oh bravo. Right there,
- 42:36Speaker 2: that is the greatest text I've ever had in my life.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I want you to know that, Texterter, that is something
- 42:43Speaker 2: worthy of a prize. If I had a prize, I'd
- 42:45Speaker 2: give him one. U of L's fight song is I
- 42:48Speaker 2: got Hose in Area Codes by Ludacris. God that is awesome.
- 42:53Speaker 2: You know that what makes it even funny?
- 42:55Speaker 4: It's so true?
- 42:56Speaker 2: Oh well, yeah, I would listen if there's more lyrics
- 43:00Speaker 2: to it. I'd love to see the lyrics for this song.
- 43:05Speaker 2: God that is awesome? Okay. Forty eight Handlers said the
- 43:08Speaker 2: most famous victory in Kentucky football history belongs to Center College.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Rated again, the most famous victory in Kentucky football history
- 43:18Speaker 2: belongs to Center College. I don't understand what that means,
- 43:21Speaker 2: but is that when Center beat UK, they beat was
- 43:25Speaker 2: it Harvard? They beat somebody really really really good?
- 43:28Speaker 4: Oh?
- 43:29Speaker 2: You mean a Kentucky college? Correct? Okay, I got you. Yeah,
- 43:33Speaker 2: they had a real historical game. I want to say
- 43:36Speaker 2: it was Harvard that they beat. Really, I don't know.
- 43:40Speaker 2: If I had to sit here and rank the greatest
- 43:43Speaker 2: UK football victories, I would probably, well, especially in my lifetime,
- 43:52Speaker 2: I would probably. And it goes between two games, I
- 43:56Speaker 2: think the and it's between either Almammy and Kentucky beating
- 44:04Speaker 2: Alabama for the first time and who knows how many
- 44:07Speaker 2: years that was, or Rich Brooks and UK beating Number
- 44:13Speaker 2: one LSU, both at Commonwealth Stadium. Andre Woodson was the
- 44:18Speaker 2: quarterback and Tim Couch was the quarterback of the other one,
- 44:22Speaker 2: the Alabama win. And honestly, I don't know if I
- 44:26Speaker 2: could sit here and say which one was better than
- 44:30Speaker 2: the other one. I think that there's definitely the Florida
- 44:37Speaker 2: game down in Gainesville that is definitely worthy of because
- 44:43Speaker 2: UK hadn't beaten Florida in Gainesville in many years. Then
- 44:47Speaker 2: other than that, maybe I know it was further back,
- 44:52Speaker 2: but UK beating Georgia down in Athens back in the
- 44:56Speaker 2: I think it was the late nineties. But uh well,
- 45:00Speaker 2: they all pale in comparison to Center Oh is that right? Okay, sorry,
- 45:05Speaker 2: this was back in nineteen twenty one. Harvard had won
- 45:09Speaker 2: twenty five straight games. Oh wow, and they had so
- 45:13Speaker 2: there's they had forty five thousand fans there. Harvard was
- 45:16Speaker 2: obviously a big school at the time. Center College had
- 45:20Speaker 2: less than three hundred students. And they went and they
- 45:23Speaker 2: went into Harvard and beat them six to nothing. What
- 45:27Speaker 2: a boring game, widely celebrated as one of the greatest
- 45:30Speaker 2: upsets in college football history, in history history. Yeah, well,
- 45:34Speaker 2: and if you go, if you go down to Center College,
- 45:36Speaker 2: you'll see C six h zero everywhere. Oh you do,
- 45:41Speaker 2: that's like third thing for it. Okay, yeah, interesting? All
- 45:45Speaker 2: right then? Uh I I don't know say about that.
- 45:49Speaker 2: I mean when did Harvard and Yale at all, all
- 45:52Speaker 2: the IVY loop schools changed to where they don't care
- 45:56Speaker 2: about sports anymore. Yeah, because you know, the schools that
- 46:00Speaker 2: could really succeed in the NIL era are the IVY leagues.
- 46:04Speaker 2: They've got billions of dollars to go spend on athletes,
- 46:07Speaker 2: and they don't do that. They could be the ones
- 46:10Speaker 2: that can control in I L have the greatest basketball, football,
- 46:15Speaker 2: you name it, because they got the money. That's true.
- 46:18Speaker 2: I'd love to look up. I've never looked this up.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Who is the wealthiest uh school out there that actually
- 46:26Speaker 2: does compete in sports that actually is pretty good? What
- 46:30Speaker 2: state school? I don't know what that is, but anyway,
- 46:34Speaker 2: Uh yeah, he said Harvard, So that was it. The
- 46:37Speaker 2: Harvard wins that I am too. But I guess that
- 46:43Speaker 2: the impression was you you you got the impression from
- 46:47Speaker 2: the whole T shirt thing. I've never seen that before,
- 46:50Speaker 2: so I didn't see it. I did a couple of
- 46:52Speaker 2: volleyball games down at Center last year. Maybe it was
- 46:55Speaker 2: two years ago, but yeah, I remember seeing that everywhere
- 46:57Speaker 2: on campus. That's whatever one was talking about well fed
- 47:01Speaker 2: being over one hundred years ago. Really, we're gonna have
- 47:03Speaker 2: Craig Skinner on the next couple of weeks talk about volleyball,
- 47:07Speaker 2: so I'll look forward to that. One day. You've got
- 47:09Speaker 2: to go to Lexington and see them play. I will
- 47:11Speaker 2: if I'm trying to think. No, the uk U of
- 47:15Speaker 2: L game is going to be uh in Lexington this year,
- 47:18Speaker 2: so we won't be able to see it here in town.
- 47:19Speaker 2: But all right, we gotta take a break. Our two
- 47:22Speaker 2: coming up. Stay right there, a lot more just Cats
- 47:25Speaker 2: and keep your text coming in. We'll see him in.
- 47:34Speaker 2: You know, you know, you know you're just yet.
- 47:40Speaker 1: You Jefferson. Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:54Speaker 2: All right, with number two on this Wednesday, I hope
- 47:57Speaker 2: everybody's having a great day because I'll tell you what,
- 47:59Speaker 2: it's a beautiful day. Just in the temperature. I mean,
- 48:02Speaker 2: this is not normal Kentucky State Fair temperature. It's been great.
- 48:07Speaker 2: It's nice outside. Beat a little chili. I mean it's
- 48:10Speaker 2: supposed to be a little chili for a couple of
- 48:12Speaker 2: days here, so I'm excited about that. But you know what,
- 48:16Speaker 2: it's it's Wednesday, not Tuesday. But you know normally on
- 48:20Speaker 2: Tuesday we have what going on? Corey exactly? Yeah, we
- 48:26Speaker 2: got Corey Price going on. So okay, I don't know
- 48:28Speaker 2: why exactly what. I love how you don't get my
- 48:44Speaker 2: subtle hints every now and then. But that's okay. I was.
- 48:46Speaker 2: I was busy there. I was trying to get Corey
- 48:49Speaker 2: on the stream and sometimes with Scoots. I mean, I
- 48:52Speaker 2: think that's it. There we go. Sometimes it's Monday, right, No,
- 48:56Speaker 2: it's Wednesday, it's not Monday. What are you talking about?
- 48:59Speaker 2: Good morning? How are you doing, Corey Price? I'm doing
- 49:02Speaker 2: swell mister Bennett? Uh oh you hear that? Yeah Bennett?
- 49:05Speaker 2: Wow four yeah exactly. Haven't been in school in eighteen years.
- 49:11Speaker 2: But I'm curious, you know what you think we were
- 49:14Speaker 2: talking about the greatest football wins in UK history would
- 49:18Speaker 2: in your because I I really I do struggle with
- 49:21Speaker 2: the two games right there between Alabama and we're talking
- 49:24Speaker 2: home games Alabama and uh LSU in your mind, because
- 49:31Speaker 2: one it's it's one is we hadn't beaten the school
- 49:34Speaker 2: in many years. The other one we had beaten them,
- 49:37Speaker 2: probably sooner than Alabama, but they were number one at
- 49:40Speaker 2: the time. So in your mind, what would you say
- 49:44Speaker 2: was the greatest win at Commonwealth Stadium?
- 49:49Speaker 4: Uh?
- 49:49Speaker 2: To me, honestly, it's not even that close. Really. That
- 49:53Speaker 2: Bama win was nice, hadn't been them in seventy five years.
- 49:56Speaker 2: But that Bama team I think end up being like
- 49:58Speaker 2: four and seven or five and six. They were very good.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Uh.
- 50:02Speaker 2: The game is l s U. They were number one.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Then they finished the season number one, right biased. It
- 50:09Speaker 2: was my senior year, so I was like, oh worry, okay,
- 50:12Speaker 2: so last I was there as a student. So yeah,
- 50:16Speaker 2: I mean that game, I think it's tops for me?
- 50:19Speaker 2: Is it really? And where did you find yourself after
- 50:22Speaker 2: the game? Where was Corey Price? Somewhere on the field?
- 50:25Speaker 2: You don't remember where? I mean? And what did you do?
- 50:29Speaker 2: I was on the twenty seven yard That's exactly what
- 50:32Speaker 2: I want to know, exactly. Tell you where I was?
- 50:35Speaker 2: I was walking around running around. I don't remember exactly really.
- 50:39Speaker 2: And what lady friend did you take out afterwards?
- 50:42Speaker 4: Uh?
- 50:43Speaker 2: No, I no lady friends?
- 50:46Speaker 4: Uh?
- 50:47Speaker 2: Senior year I was with friends really good? Yeah, fay good? Yeah?
- 50:51Speaker 2: All right? Then as far as away game wins, what
- 50:55Speaker 2: do you think ranks up? There is one of the
- 50:57Speaker 2: top ones, because I still think the Florida winning Gainesville
- 51:01Speaker 2: it's probably my favorite, with Cash Daniels celebrating with the
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yeah twenty eighteen, Yeah, hadn't beat them in thirty two years.
- 51:11Speaker 2: I was also at that game, So were you really
- 51:14Speaker 2: very lucky? That probably our two biggest wins wow in
- 51:17Speaker 2: my lifetime, because here's what I distinctly remember going from
- 51:20Speaker 2: the press box down to the field that stadium and
- 51:25Speaker 2: there were everybody was leaving and it was quiet. Yeah,
- 51:30Speaker 2: I mean that, and it was just really noticeable how
- 51:33Speaker 2: quiet it was. Well, I mean Kennon's final play. Mean,
- 51:37Speaker 2: it was a long shot, but they and three had
- 51:39Speaker 2: a chance to win, but obviously there was the fumble
- 51:42Speaker 2: and we took two backter a touchdowns. So but yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 2: it was I mean it was Is that the biggest
- 51:49Speaker 2: you think away game win in my lifetime or ever
- 51:53Speaker 2: in your lifetime? Yeah, I mean, uh a close. I
- 51:57Speaker 2: will probably be the game in Knoxville and twenty twenty
- 52:00Speaker 2: then Scharman's beating like thirty four to seven. Yeah, unfortunate.
- 52:04Speaker 2: It's the only time I haven't been in Knoxville since
- 52:06Speaker 2: like two thousand and six. Of course, it's the one
- 52:08Speaker 2: time we beat him in Koxville. So yeah, you're not
- 52:10Speaker 2: allowed to go there. Maybe yeah, maybybe I'm bad luck. Yeah,
- 52:13Speaker 2: you are the problem. I thought that's You're absolutely right
- 52:16Speaker 2: now I'm the problem.
- 52:18Speaker 3: I know.
- 52:18Speaker 2: That's what my wife tells me. So it's finally I
- 52:20Speaker 2: tell somebody else that you're the problem.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Though.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Scoots is the biggest problem. Actually yeah, I'll take it. Well,
- 52:25Speaker 2: he is today and people are upset with him. They
- 52:27Speaker 2: missed cross talk, they missed uh uh sometimes with Scoots.
- 52:32Speaker 2: I mean, this is ridiculous anyway. Concentrating your job now,
- 52:36Speaker 2: I got it should be seldom with with Scoots. Oh wow,
- 52:41Speaker 2: it's getting worse. I'm gonna have you on one day
- 52:44Speaker 2: this week, but not now oversleeping. I'll be busy with
- 52:47Speaker 2: with work, Scoots. Sorry, what you would come on for
- 52:50Speaker 2: twenty minutes fast? This week is August sixteenth through the
- 52:54Speaker 2: twenty second We ignored you. I love this, Okay, go ahead?
- 53:01Speaker 2: Starting with August sixteenth, nineteen ninety five, The crime thriller
- 53:05Speaker 2: film The Usual Suspects is ere losing theaters. Did y'all
- 53:08Speaker 2: see The Usual Suspects? You know my answer? I'm not
- 53:12Speaker 2: sure if I did or not. Who's in it? I'll
- 53:15Speaker 2: tell you. Shortly Directed by Brian Singer, it stars Stephen Baldwin,
- 53:20Speaker 2: Gabriel Byrne, Benicio del Toro, Chaz Paulmnary, Kevin Pollock, and
- 53:26Speaker 2: Kevin Spacey. Yeah. I never saw it. Film Grocer Pro good.
- 53:31Speaker 2: I think it's good. Okay. Film Grocer Proxy twenty three
- 53:34Speaker 2: point three million dollars domestically, making it the seventy fifth
- 53:38Speaker 2: highest grossing film of nineteen ninety five, and the film

- 59:19Speaker 2: Funny Guy Dodger Rinching Dodgeball August twenty first, two thousand

- 1:01:06Speaker 2: was not that. Yeah. I was a big fan of
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Anna Faris. I thought she was Bunny has a nice
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: race still with us? Oh yeah, let's not jinx people. Okay, goodness, no,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: why do you say that? The only one that's pa.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: They're talking about this whole thing with the young lady
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: that just passed away a couple of days ago. Yeah. Uh,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: and it's just the more you hear, the more the saturday. Yes,
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: it's terrible. Thirty six. She was only like a few
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: days away from being thirty seven. Oh really? Yeah? Oh
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: was her birthday the twenty fifth? No, God, I was
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: just plugging a little more because the twenty first. Okay,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: by the way, if you don't know everybody, uh, Corey
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Price's birthday is next Tuesday, okay, a week yeah, week
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: from yesterday. So just to let you know Corey Price's birthday,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I'll be in August twenty fifth. I'll be in my
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Mark Pope year. You'll be in your Mark Pope year
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: forty one forty one. Hey, I didn't I didn't catch it,
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: but now I did it? Very good? Yeah, okay, good, Well,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: getting closer with football season, any preparations for you as
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: as we get closer? The yearbook is out? You haven't
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: plugged that enough. It's out, isn't it. I thought the
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: Cat's Pause one is what I'm talking about, the one
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: I wrote for I don't think so. Oh, I'm sorry. Okay,
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: there's two different ones. Okay, yep, the one that is
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: not out yet okay, but I checked daily to see
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: if it's out yet that he does that he checked,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: and I guarantee he does. I'm excited. It's still crazy that.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: I mean, I've been writing for him for nine years now,
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: I think so, Mammy, really and you still getting excited
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: about stuff like that? Of course, yes, really, I know
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: it sounds silly. The one thing that probably excited me
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: the most out of anything that's ever happened since I've
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: been a part of this ridiculous radio show was when
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: the UK media team UH used a clip from my
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: voice from the show for one of their hype videos
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: for a football game, and I thought that was the
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: coolest thing ever. That's cooler than getting stiffed by John
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: cal Perry behind the Arkansas bench. Come, I know, I
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: mean I did being on National TV that was funny,
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: and be on the Philipstoops after the win that was
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: that's probably number two Missouri, that's probably number two right there.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: It's a great picture. I gotta go find it. I
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: don't know where it is, but yeah, probably on the
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: phone somewhere. I don't know if it is or not.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: Did you take like a like an actual picture?
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: No?
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: No, no, would it was funny. The local newspaper there
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: in Columbus, Missouri, Columbia or Columbia whatever I was. Club
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: came up to you says are you Are you good
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: friends with the Mark Stoops. I said, well, I mean
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: we know each other, that's kind of it. And that
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: was when we were getting to know each other. And
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: he says, walk out a great picture of the two
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: of you. And then it was in the on the
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: front page of the Columbia newspaper in Missouri had a
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: giant smele on your faces. All right, well, how could
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: you not have a giant smile after that game? Crazy?
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: That another crazy play? Yeah, yeah, yeah, with that with
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: literally no time on the clock when the play and
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: then the boat and punt returned that that started off
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: exactly because they were playing horribly that game. But I
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: mean that second half is the best defense I've ever
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: seen in my life. Yeah, they didn't allow one single
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: first down. I think nine three and ounce I believe
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: was there really I don't remember that. That's a crazy
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: single first down. I mean that's when it was happening
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: at UK for football. I mean, that was fun and
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: how it just didn't build from there. It's just crazy
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: to me. But well they did a ten win season
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: after that as well. Yeah, just like getting carried on. No, No,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: you're ready for the Stay Fair tomorrow. Well, if you
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: listen to the first hour of the show, I'm really ready. Yes,
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: are you going to get that fair? You got seldom
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Scoots and seldom listening, Corey. But exactly that's you listen
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: to other shows, but you don't listen to this one much.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I mean, I'm gonna give you a hard time about
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: It's true. Don't ever say that you're supposed to be saying. No, Michael,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: listen to show daily because you're on it once a week.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: Honesty is the best policy, right, Wow? Or doesn't. Corey
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: doesn't come on these shows because he enjoys them. He
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: just wants to. Wow. I didn't see. That's what I'm
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: worried about it. I think we're right about it. Yeah,
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: he doesn't have any idea that that's hurtful. Actually, the
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: truth hurts sometimes. I am ready for you the Fair?
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Are you headed out there? I'll make it out someday.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: I don't. I don't know what day yet, Michael. On
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: my birthday, Tuesday, August twenty fifth. Check your local listings there.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, no, no, because there's another show that's going
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: to be playing out there. No my birthday. Yeah, I
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: just it's the watching the people is the best part.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: I think. I agree. Hey, Corey, you want to know
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: something really cool? Uh? What in two weeks when you're
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: here on Tuesday, it'll be our five hundredth episode. Really,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: are you serious? I just did the math. We have
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: done five hundred episodes of the show fourth and ninety
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: right now, today's four.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: I had Okay that should we wear a suit and tie?
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: For you?
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Wear whatever you want? I will not be okay, okay,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: thank you, justin Timberlake. Yeah, that's what we'll wear. We'll
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: wear a suit and tie, as long as I got
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: my suit and tie right exactly. Who wears a suit
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: without a tie. I think that's not a good look.
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: I'm more likely to wear a tie without the suit.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Yeah you know, okay, just a yeah, well just a tie,
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: but like a shirt of time, That's what I was.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: That's what it sounded like. I'm more aptive to wear
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: us than a suit. Like Okay, when I think of
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: tie with shirt, I think of a bachelor party. The
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: film with Tom Hanks, Yes, exactly. The singers a guy,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: just a stile. We were talking about that actress not
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: too long ago, weren't we the one, No actress, the
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: one uh Tory? Uh what's her last name? The one
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: she unfortunately passed away? She dated the lead singer White Line,
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: White Line, Yes, the band White Line only ever heard of. Okay,
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: all right, never mind, I'm dating myself. So anyway, you're
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: dating yourself. Okay, that's your wife. I have some some
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: problems with that, I am. And you wait until the
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: in the segment she did you button your top? But
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: I didn't think I could. It's too late now it's now. No,
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: it's too late. You don't listen to this show anyway,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: So what I'm going to give you a hard time
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: about that? All right, so you're looking forward. We got
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: just a couple more, what three weeks. See, here's the
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: player for today, Van Hiles. Yeah, Van texted him back.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: You know, no, wait, you weren't here. You weren't back yet.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: When Van and Anthony White took over, just the cats
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: for me, No, that was that was Matthew. Okay, Yeah,
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: they took over and had a good time. They do
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: a great job I love those guys. Anthony's my buddy,
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: and Van knows is uh football. Yeah, he really does.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: And he does a good job on their podcast and
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: he'll put up clips during the season. He's great at
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: breakingdown plays. Yes, absolutely, those guys that can do that
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: is just amazing to me. He's a coach I think
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: down in Louisiana. Believe oh he is. It makes sense
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: he's great at doing that. Yeah. Yeah, all right, dude, So,
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: uh State Fair, I mean, food wise, what is your
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: go to? Uh Frida Oreos? I mean, I know it's
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: kind of basic because you can get that, you know, anywhere,
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: but yeah, that's my top one. Yeah. Do you do
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: the uh donut donut Burger? I've never done that before. No,
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: I'm pork chop, pork chop sandwich all the way, because
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: I think they're the greatest in the world. See, they
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: have a hot Cheetos covered corn dog this year. Bro, God,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: that sounds disgusting. Are they just trying to get it
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: to where it's just let me think of something disgusting
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: and people will pay fifteen? I mean corn dogs. Corn
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Dog's bad enough, but I honestly maybe putting that on
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: top of it saves. I'm not a corn dog guy. No,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: I'm with you. I also saw they're doing like funnel cake,
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: like funnel cake fried cheese courage or something. Ash. Yeah, no,
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: just don't mean that's kind of the that's what the
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: fairies forced to make these. You might as well eat

- 1:09:45Speaker 2: It's just gonna go straight through you. Okay, sorry about that.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: Or if you eat some lettuce thing or eggs, well
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: you can't have lettuce right now, That's what I'm saying. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: So I wonder if it's still done a lot to
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: the let Us because they keep saying that somebody else.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: So at first it was Taco Bell, then they started
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: blaming Chipotle, and I mean, they're just trying to take
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: down all these great restaurants. I'm safe. I don't eat lettuce,
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: so I'm good. You don't eat let us at all.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Don't eat eggs either. What's wrong with the eggs? Why
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: are you hating on eggs? Today? Thirty six million, I
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: believe was the number eggs got recalled yesterday. Thirty six million. Yeah, oh,

- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Just plugging enough. We need to change the code of
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: the front door. So's it's not just his birthday week,
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: it's his birthday, it's my birthday year. Actually, here, here's
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: the fun part. He asked if he could come on
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: the entire two hours. Should we let him come on
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: for two hours? Not if we're gonna have to hear
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: it's his birthday every other sentence. I'll mention it once
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: every segment. I'll play here we go, I'll play nothing
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: but birthday. You'll becovered the Beatles. The Beatles one is
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: the best. Come on, agreed. Geez, they say it's your birthday.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: I know, I'm well aware. I say it's it's my
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: birthday in six days. Oh okay, all right, then, well congratulations.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: Well has your lady friend done anything for you special
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: for your birthday? Uh no, because uh see, he admits it,
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: lady friend, I have a friend that is a see
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: there it is. Finally he admits his girlfriend. It's a
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: friend that's a female. That's not a thing. No such
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: thing as a lady that is a friend. Fall go
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: watch the movie when Harry met Sally, and you'll know,
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Billy Crystal, it's a movie. No way you can have
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: a lady that is your friend. I'm just telling you
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: right now. In the history of mankind, now, women can
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: do it. Men cannot. Well that that's sexist. Hey, well
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: it's true. It might be sexist, but it's reality. No false. Okay,
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: all right, Corey, you sit on a thron line, thank you?
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: Will you know it is no lie? My birthdays and
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: six days by the way, God lord, okay, my goodness,
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: will everybody please send him a happy birthday? Then? Yes,
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: please suck it, Corey, whoa come on nice? All right,
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: Correy Price always find having you. We'll say what else?
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Caps what was that? But was he sneezed? Okay, yeah,
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: I thought that was another bodily functions. Oh no, that
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: was all right. He's already thinking about the fair food
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: and that's the result in my birthday cake and six days. Okay,
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: all right, thank you, Cory having you. As usually, we
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: got to take a break. Five O two four one
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty we'll see him minute to.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: Take time, guys, game, No, no, not talking about just
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: letting me know. Yeah, long ago rain I got a
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: lot of nice scales.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: All right, I'm sure you saw the news yesterday drummer
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: for zz Top Frank Beard passed away. Did do you
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: you have any years he played with zz Top? You
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: want to take a guest? Sixty four? Sixty four years?
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: Wow?
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: I mean you made that's quite a guess. You made
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: it seem like it had been forever. Well, fifty six
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: years does seem like forever? Okay, you're gonna give me
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: crap for saying sixty four when I was eight? Off,
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Get out of here. I mean I was three years
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: old when he started playing the drums. How do you
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: like that?
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Man?
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Congratulations that that's quite a career. List, but it's worth
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: I did not see that he passed. Oh you did
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: not see it? Yeah? Yeah, Frank Beard. So and now
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: there's only one remaining band member from zz Top that's
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: still alive. Should he be done with that? Or should
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: he continue to play? I'll continue? Really you think he
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: should untill he does? Let live on? Yeah? I I
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: I'm probably right there with you. You ever seen him
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: in concert. I have seen zz Top. They were fantastic. Yeah,
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: only three guys. Where where did you see him? Bourbon
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: and Beyond? Oh did you really? Yeah? They played? They
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: played before Zach Brown. Yeah, it was It was awesome
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: because the thing I saw was Foo Fighters and the
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: band before them was the lead singer for Creeden's Clearwater Revival.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: I forget what his name is. It is John Fogerty,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: Thank you. And I was never exactly very good, and
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: I was never a really big fan of John Fogerty,
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: except you know, everybody loves that uh exactly. His voice
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: sounded perfect, and I got to a point it's like, wow,
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: I'm glad I saw him in concert. He was really good.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: I saw z Eazy Top at Freedom Hall years ago. Okay,
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: so that's that's how long ago it's been since I
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: saw z Eazy Top. But they were good. And I'm
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: sorry to see that the drummer Frank Beard passed away.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: But can you imagine for fifty six years playing the
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: same music over and over? You think so, I think
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: I'd get tired of it. I mean, if you're collecting
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: a pay a big paycheck at that, well, that's true.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Having to do the same thing every day. Hell ya, really,
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: you could do it absolutely, I congratulates. Basically, do it
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: now without the big paycheck? All right? Then? Uh so
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: yesterday the annual NBA two K video game series is
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: gonna they announced it's it's it's going to be released
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: its latest edition next month. Why do you announce that?
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: It's just just like, why don't you just announce, Hey,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: it's going to be released tomorrow. Why do you have
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: to give it a month in advance? People look forward
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: to it, do they really? Yeah? Well I saw this
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: and I thought, okay, this is kind of cool. Uh,
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: it's got Wimby on the cover. Yes, can you let
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: me talk about the subject matter? Police? Oh, how you're
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: already going it's got Wimby on the cover. You're exactly right.
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: But they said they've selected Jay Gilles Alexander's the number
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: one player in the game sense it does. Yeah, he's
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: got an overall rating of ninety seven, but it's a tie.
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: It's a tie with Jay Gildess, Wimby and as well
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: as Jokic. So those three but to two K. Two
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: K gave the two time MVP the top spot. What
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: does the whole night somebody explain this to me. I
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: don't know what it means. The rating of ninety seven,
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: so there it goes up to ninety nine. Ninety nine
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: is the highest rating you can have in a video game.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: And then so he's too. So when it all right?
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Because I don't understand video games. I know you get
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: on there and you play, but uh, what does it
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: mean he is the top player? Though? Do you understand that? Yeah,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: he's so ninety seven is the highest rated player in
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: the game. Okay, so what that's again, I don't know
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: what that means. That means he's a ninety seven out
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: of ninety nine. That's he's the top player in the game,
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: meaning he'll always win. No, I mean his skill level
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: and all that in the game is probably like real
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: life for you. Oh it is, Yeah, I mean it's
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: just uh, it's okay. I mean it's just a made
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: up rank like it is. Okay for instance, I figured
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: it was made up, but I just I'm like, I
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: don't understand the whole ranking thing. Like if we were
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: to do rankings for let's just say sports talk radio, right,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: you would be I'd give you like a eighty six.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: I would be Unfortunately, like a ninety one, but I'd
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: give you like an eighty six out of ninety nine.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: You're you're giving me an eighty six and you're in
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: ninety one. Yeah, no, I'm sorry. I would be a
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: ninety five at the lowest. Okay, just let you know
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: I'm in ninety five. I'd block every one of your shots.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: You wouldn't get a shot off. The only way you'd
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: beat me is because you'd tire me out. You'd just
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: be running around circles and hopefully that I had by
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: the way, uh theyfore yesterday I got my physical results
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: and I told the doctor that I have this event
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: that I'm going to at UK. He looked at me, Michael,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: are you getting in shape for this thing? Because you're
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: gonna tear an ACL You're gonna sprain your ankle, You're
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: gonna have a issue doing this because you know you're old.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: He for season, tell me how old I am now?
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: He goes, you're older now, and your mind thinks that
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: you're still young, but you can't do this kind of stuff.
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: And then he uses the reference of pickleball. It's like
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: people think they can get out there and play pickleball,
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: but then all of a sudden, they're tearing all kinds
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: of body parts. So now he's I expect you be
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: on the treadmill thirty minutes a day. I don't have
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: a place to go play basketball, though. I gotta figure
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: that out. That's problematic. It is, it is, But you
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: know what, I'm to a point, I don't really care.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: There's not a hoop anywhere in your neighborhood. There's one
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: in my driveway. I just gotta buy my net. I
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: gotta go buy a net. I know, no, I'm not
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: doing a chain net. This is not the hood. But anyway,
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: there are going back to this the game. Did you
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: realize the game costs seventy dollars by the way, Oh yeah,
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: seventy dollars. I'll just use last year's game. That's what
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: I literally was this two months ago. I just bought
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: last year's two K for how much? It was like
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: seven bucks, exactly same. Why do I want to exact
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: same players? Why do I want to go spend ten
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: times that I'm with you? I think that's the smartest
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: move you make. I mean, it's the newest version, and
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: you're gonna get obviously you're gonna have all those rookies
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: like the one I have I can't play with like
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: Darren Peterson and yeah, Kingston Flemings and stuff, but they'll
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: be in twenty seven. See this is why you make
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: fun of me all you want. And this is this
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: might surprise a lot of people. I buy used cars.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: I don't ever buy anything brand new. Now I gotta
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: buy my wife brand new cars because she wants that
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: sweet smell of a new car. Bougie exactly, she is bougie.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Uh And I know I can say that without any
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: threat of losing her because she's not listening. But I
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: buy used cars. I buy cars that have miles on it.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Not many, but I do just because you lose that depreciation.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: I think you're smart for buying last year's version. That's
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: what I would do. By the way, there's thirteen players
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: former UK players that are in the top one hundred
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: of the game. Carl Anthony Towns is at number fourteen, Tyres,
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: Maxie's fifteen, and Dev Booker nineteen. Maxie should be in
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: front of Cat. That's what I thought. What was Maxie raided?
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: Does it say? It doesn't say what he was rated,
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: but anyway, I just I thought that that was rather interesting. Yeah,
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: and those games ninety nine's are really hard to come by.
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: Rarely do you see players with anne. Oh really, Now,
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: if you bought maybe, if you went out and bought
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: MLB the show show hey, might be a ninety nine.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: But yeah, those are so few and far between. Okay, Well,
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: I knew nothing about this. I found it interesting. I thought, well,
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: I'm going to have you explain this to me so
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: and I appreciate the fact that you did, because I
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: had no idea of any of this stuff or what
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: they were talking about. Ut University Tennessee announced yesterday that
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: they have the men's and women's basketball team has agreed
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: to a patch deal, making it their first deal at Tennessee.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: I was interested that. This really intrigued me because I
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: would have figured the football team would have been the
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: first team to have a patch deal. They got a
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: five year deal for more than three million dollars a
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: year with a company called Axel Logistics. Never heard of it.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: And the other thing is Tennessee switching from Nike over
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: to Adidas. What they're switching all kinds of stuff. You
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: heard me correctly. I was surprised by that. But when
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: I saw one thing at a time, it seemed to
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: me three million a year. So it's fifteen million dollars
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: total for a patch deal. That seemed kind of low
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: to me. Does that seem low to you? I mean
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: it does on the surface, but if you look at
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: all the other deals they're getting, what Notre Dame's getting
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: twenty million a year, but it's going on all of
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: their athletic jerseys. Yes, this is only for their basketball
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: so in other words, you think they're making it even
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: bigger deal for the football. Yes, so they're dividing it up,
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: divide and conquer. But still I don't know. I just
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: I looked at that's surprising. The other part is this
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: whole thing about switching from Nike to Adidas. I thought
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: that was rather spot you know UK, So it made
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: me think about Kentucky. Of course, Kentucky just made They
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: renewed their contract last year, which should have never happened.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: They should have waited till the new athletic director came in.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: I always worry about this because I tend to think
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: somebody get a little deal. On the side. UK signed
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: up for another ten years, so they got nine years
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: left with Nike. Is there any chance UK would ever
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: leave because in my day UK it was always Converse.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: Converse was the big, big, big show, and nowadays it's
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: it's kind of between Nike and Adidas. Do you ever
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: foresee UK leaving Nike and go into Adidas. I mean,
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: eventually it'll happen, you think so. I mean money talks. Yeah,
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: and there's at some point there will be somebody come
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: in and offer them a deal that they won't be
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: it's too hard to refuse. Yeah, it'll be interesting to
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: see if maybe it's like a ray Bock or somebody
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: totally off. Yeah, you mean Reebok, Well whatever, Really it's
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: that big of a deal, I said, Raybock, Yeah, Rebod.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: I don't want you to sound like a moron. It's
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: a Rebod. It is rebound, Okay, I'm just what they
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: goes by that. I don't sound like a moron anyway.
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: That's thank you exactly, I said it. Wow, it's the truth,
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: all right. I was sad to hear the news, Yester,
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: what was that Monday? Joding Junior passed away? So you
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: don't know who Jodin Junior is. I've never heard the
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: name of really, if he's a former basketball assistant eris Kentucky.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: His dad was famous. A lot of people credit Jodding
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: Junior for saying because he announced basketball games. He was
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: a color guy on SEC basketball games, and he would
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: always say string music. But his dad is the one
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: that really originated the whole string music thing.
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: Is.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: I think his dad was basketball coach at LSU and
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: then became athletic director down there. And but no, Jodine
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: Junior seemed like always a really nice guy and did
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff within the Southeastern Conference. So I
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: was sorry to see that because it was again, he
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: was only seventy one, seventy two years old, not even
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: that old. But anyway, all right, we gotta take our
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: last break. Five O two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: I promise I'll get to your text as soon as
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: we get back. Stay right there, Dank there, you're right here, man.
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: I see, I can't give you what to walk with.
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: You guys to come home and drink. I've got some loader,
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: and I got some falling stone. When I get some soon,
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: and your guts to come back.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Football roll things come on, so low, little thing, let
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: me lie you. Kenne calls them, Mama. I'm so on
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: the Honda no, I just round. I love that part
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: right there. That's right, That's one of my favorite ones
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: right there. So anyway, good pick right there. One person,
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: uh no, Zach texted, who holds more responsibility on rock
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: locker room issues? The players are the coach. I think
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: that's a great question right there. Who holds more respect
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: on locker room issues? I've always said it's the coach.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: The coach is in control of the entire team. He
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: should control not just the the on court issues or
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: the on field issues, but he also is in charge
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: of the locker room issues. Yeah. But at the same time,
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: don't you have to have respect and belief that your
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: players can be grown ups and we can interact with
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: one another without any issues. Yeah, but your leaders, your coach.
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: You're right, You're right, but you and you need a
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: good leader on the team too, the one that is
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: on the field, one is on the court. So I
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: think it's a combination of both as far as that goes.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: But the end all is the coach. And if he
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: can't control the locker room, he can't control anything. None
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: of them respect him, and I think that was a
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: bit of a problem last year with Mark Pope. I
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: think they got to a point where some of the
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: players did not respect Mark Pope. Yeah, I don't think
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: you're wrong. Okay, well you were saying the player a
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: second ago. Now you think I'm right? No, I mean
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: I was just trying to play dead boy. Oh you
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: are okay. I mean I ultimately think it's on the
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: coach as well. But yeah, okay. Buzz texted in, I
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: wasn't at the game when Cinner beat Harvard. I just
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: wanted to make that clear. Great text, Buzz, Are you sure, Buzz?
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: Oh boy, dementia might be settling in. It was only
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: one hundred and five years ago. Oh my gosh, was
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: it really that long? Yeah, nineteen twenty one.
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: One person texted in, Michael, if you don't sing it
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: in the style of Bill Withers, I'm gonna be upset.
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: The fight song, no the text above? What the text?
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: Oh I missed something? Oh okay, ain't no sun rise
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: and the Scoots is gone or whatever the lyrics are
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: for the song. Oh that's that's a great song. I
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: like Bill Withers, by the way. I think he's a
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: good singer. You can keep him really now, he's got
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: some really good songs. Thursday's Thursday starts the State Fair
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: and Michael's friend j D. Shelburn is playing out there tomorrow.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: What is y'all's favorite memory of the State Fair? Oh,
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: that's a nice question right there. You know, well that's
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: just sad. I mean, I guess when I last time
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: I went, we went to one of those crazy houses.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: Yeah that has like all the mirrors and stuff everywhere,
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: and you get all confused. Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: I know exactly what you're talking. Yeah. Uh, I would
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: probably say in my dad making a comment. Going out
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: there with my mom and dad was always fun, and
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: my dad would always make some kind of comment trying
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: to be funny. And then one time we're looking at
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: the cow's he goes, that's a big ass, and then
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: my mom quickly says, no, the donkeys are over there. Jerry. Anyway,
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: I just I'd love being with my mom and dad.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: I mean, those those are the memories I probably have
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: the most. Or taking my kids out there and meeting uh,
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: Freddie farm Bureau. That's my other favorite. And you've never
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: met Freddy farm Bureau, have you? Nor do I want to? Oh? Man?
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: And it was traumatic to me when we went out
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: there one time and I found where they stored Freddie
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: farm Bureau. He was in plastic and I'm like, oh
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: my gosh, he's committed suicide and that's how they stored
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: him until the next fair. But yeah, Freddie farm Bureau
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: is probably one of my favorites right there, and having
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: him talk, I have to go talk. I don't care
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: how old I am. I go up there and talk
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: to him.
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: I politely wait till the kids are done. I'll probably
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: give them a little dirty look if they're taking too long.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: But I said, it's like, dude, it's my time. Okay,
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: I've been coming here all my life. I'm talking to
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Freddy farm Bureau. So, Michael, you and Scoots should wear
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: tuxedos like his stepbrothers for the five hundredth episode. Should
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: we do that? No, I'm not we should. I know
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: they're miss lady. I think I can help with the
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: whole Pam Pam thing. It's two ms exactly. I think
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: we should sometimes, well, minus the month when they when
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: they tried to replace the Scoots, just like when the
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: oh my gosh, I can't read this Dukes have had
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: to replaced Bow and Luke Duke he did not spell
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: dukes have asard right, Okay, yeah, it's a different show.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: I Oh my gosh, if people could just see what's
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: going on at this station right now. Uh best three
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: member bands, zz Top Rush in the Police. Holy cow,
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: that's a great text right there. That exactly and I
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: and honestly, I can't think of any other three member
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: bands besides those three, because he's right, it was zz
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: topas the three member band. Rush was a three member band,
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: which they now They got a young lady playing drummer
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: for the guy that replaced the who I thought was
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: the greatest drummer ever, and she does phenomenal. And then
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: the police, I'm going with blink on are they only
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: three members? Same thing with Green and Nirvana? Oh I
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: forgot about Nirvana. Oh yeah, yeah, sorry, Nirvana's in there.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Nirvana has to be in that list. And do we
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: do we respect Nirvana more purely because Kurt Cobain passed
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: away unexpectedly? Is that why we look at that? I mean,
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: I'm not a big Nirvana gay, you're not. Oh I
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: I love Nirvana? But that, oh man, that that is
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: a great one right there. Uh Hey, Sun rides with
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: Scoots the easiest way to Uh, why is this coming
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: up again? That's weird. Yeah, sorry about that. Yeah, he said,
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: damn typos. I don't believe yet. I think that was intentional,
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: by the way. Lemonade shakeups all day at the fair.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: Oh lemonade, Shacob got, Oh my gosh, yes, but the
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: sugar in there. I think there's more sugar than water
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: and lemonade. Okay, just to let you know, those are fantastic.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: I know, how much do you think those lemonade shakeups costs? Oh,
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: they're like eight nine bucks. No, no, no, no, no,
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: I mean how much you think the actual raw cost is? Oh,
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: fifty cents if that a quarter? And they're selling them
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: for what ten dollars fifteen dollars and sell them all
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: day long. And you know what, people walk away with
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: a smile on their face because they got their lemon shakeup.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: But you get the souvenir cup, right, and you get
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: to go refill it for another five dollars half the cost.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: Yet they're still making a ton of money off those things. Yeah,
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: those are awesome. Yeah, I do look over and that
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: was not a typo. I just I've refused to believe Jamie.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: That was a typo. So uh, anyway, tomorrow we're gonna
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: talk a little bit about women's basketball. We're gonna have
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: to have Kenny Brooks on sometimes do it? Is it
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: something where I should let No, I want to do it.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm going to control the you. I just
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: figured maybe there's one coach you should interview the entire time. No, No,
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: absolutely not. It wouldn't be Kenny Brooks. You wouldn't want that. No,
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: it's not. I don't need to do interviews. It's fine, Okay.
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: I figured the one person you would really want to
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: interview the entire time would be Kenny Brooks. I didn't.
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: It would just be a gush fst nobody. Oh, so
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: that's why you're fear a little worried about that, because
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: you would be in fear that you'd be gushing the
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: entire time. Exactly. Okay, all right, thanks the man. One
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: thing I didn't get to talk about today is most
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: search slang words. This is when I wish Matthew Childers
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: was here because I think he would be good at this.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: But he's been texting us all morning. By the way,
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: by the way, the whole parking mess has been resolved. Yeah,
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: I'm no longer going to complain about parking here, okay,
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: but anyway, I will talk about that more tomorrow as well. Everybody,
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: have a great day. I appreciate you listening. We'll see
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: you tomorrow. Just a guest, Kendall calls the Mama. I'm
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: so an
