- 0:00They're going to have a ton of money to spend.
- 0:01Why not putting in one of the top three offensive players in
- 0:05the league? We're going to be looking at
- 0:14Aaron Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael
- 0:17Jordan said. I played 82 games.
- 0:20You don't see the fun doing that.
- 0:21A game where you got to go for. 4.
- 0:24I told you giant things and save more Barkley at this point, say

- 2:34all our shows is go to our website at
- 2:36www.worldwidesportsradio.com. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it
- 2:42was a snowy day, snowy night, snowy Sunday into Monday.
- 2:46It stopped. Everybody said it was going to
- 2:47stop about 6:00 PM, but it stopped.
- 2:50Really not here, especially here in Long Island, about 1:00 PM
- 2:541/30, we had to clean up. I would say we got about 15
- 2:58inches. It was brutal.
- 3:01And and we've had a compiled of snow over the last couple of
- 3:05weeks. We had a snowstorm, what was it,
- 3:072 1/2 three weeks ago and now we had this one and we might have
- 3:11more snow coming on the way sometime later this week into
- 3:16next week. So it's been a crazy, crazy
- 3:19February. I would have never thought that
- 3:21we would get this much. So we haven't had this much snow
- 3:24in about 5 years. And we've had probably the
- 3:27coldest winter month in January. It was so cold.
- 3:31It was at one point in the, you know, in their teens and, and at
- 3:36one point it was in the, it was like 5-6 degrees.
- 3:39So, and it was out of -3 one of the days as well in the month of
- 3:43January. So I would have never thought we
- 3:45would have this kind of cold and this kind of snow in, you know,
- 3:50in, in February, in the new year.
- 3:51So 2026 is on to a great one, ladies and gentlemen, a cold
- 3:56one. I like the cold.
- 3:58But when it gets to this point, I, I don't know if I like this
- 4:01weather. It's a little overboard when
- 4:03you, when you're practically walking in the snow and it's up
- 4:06to your waist. That's how bad it is over here.
- 4:09And I'm not small. I know Jabba likes to say that
- 4:11I'm such a small guy, but I'm 5/10 and 1/4.
- 4:14I have to add that quarter because it gives me a little bit
- 4:16more size. But the emphasis here is we've
- 4:20had a lot of snow over the last couple of weeks.
- 4:24Hopefully going into March it it probably gets a little bit
- 4:28warmer. Spring time's around the corner
- 4:31and we might see no more of it. But I think March could be more
- 4:36of a hazard when it comes to snow because over the last
- 4:40couple of years, especially here in New York, it's the coldest in
- 4:44March. It unless we got the cold front
- 4:47in January and now we're moving to the snowy part in February
- 4:51and then in the warmer part in, well, springtime March.
- 4:55So we'll see. I, I, I don't know.
- 4:57I don't know what to expect with the weather.
- 4:59I know a lot of people on the East Coast were slammed,
- 5:03especially in the city. And, and what's crazy about the
- 5:06snow when it hits the city? I'm talking about Queens,
- 5:10Brooklyn and Manhattan. You can't put the snow anywhere.
- 5:15There's nowhere to put the snow. It's not like it's the suburbs
- 5:18and you can push it on somebody's lawn.
- 5:20There is no lawn in Queens. There is no lawn in Manhattan.
- 5:24So where are you putting it? And, and everybody parks their
- 5:27cars on the street. There's nowhere to park on the
- 5:29streets now. Now you're definitely going to
- 5:31have to pay for parking. So a lot of New Yorkers are not
- 5:34enjoying this weather of snow, especially in the city part of
- 5:38New York. So it's not good.
- 5:41But hey, we're here. We're here to entertain you.
- 5:43If you're locked in your houses or you're, I don't know, you're
- 5:47caved in with snow throughout the New York market or on the
- 5:51East Coast. You can enjoy a lot of takes,
- 5:54hot takes when it comes to sports and give you some
- 5:58laughing objectives. I don't know, it's something
- 6:01we're going to. We'll give you something tonight
- 6:03and maybe throw you guys off in a little occupied craziness.
- 6:08I don't know, I'm occupied with this, but there's a lot of
- 6:11craziness that's going to be handed to you in the show.
- 6:14We got a lot to get into and one of the big stories is if you're
- 6:19a USA Hockey fan or if you're just a United States fan, what
- 6:24happened on Sunday was something that you'll never forget, never
- 6:28forget. On Sunday morning, Team USA
- 6:33Hockey won their first gold medal since the historic Miracle
- 6:37on Ice 1980s team with a 21 overtime victory over Canada.
- 6:43US goalie Connor Hellebach saved an incredible 41 out of 42
- 6:49shots, the most total saves ever in a gold medal game.
- 6:53Canada outshot United the United States 42 to 28 and dominated
- 6:59total puck possession by almost 4 minutes in the second and
- 7:04third period. Minnesota Wild winger Matt Boldy
- 7:09open the scoring 6 minutes into the contest, putting the US up
- 7:15one to nothing. Assisted Assisted by team
- 7:18captain Austin Matthews and Boldy's new Wild teammate Quinn
- 7:24Hewes. Quinn Ewes had eight points,
- 7:27including a point in every game of the Olympics, tied for the
- 7:32most ever by a defenseman. Quinn's brother Jack, however,
- 7:36was the story with the golden goal.
- 7:38Assisted by Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Warinsky in the
- 7:45wild in a wild three on three overtime period after losing
- 7:50teeth and getting blasted by a high stick late in the game.
- 7:55Game used did not appear to miss a shift after winning the gold
- 8:00medal. Team USA did an amazing tribute
- 8:03to Johnny and Matthew Goudreau, honoring him by having Johnny's
- 8:09jersey in front of the gold medal ceremony photo and
- 8:13celebrating it with the Goudreau kids on the ice with the team
- 8:18for what goes down as the greatest US accomplishment in
- 8:23hockey in 1/2 a century. When you think about Jonny
- 8:29Goudreau, first of all, and his brother, it's it's horrible to
- 8:33think about what happened to them the night before they were
- 8:37supposed to be at their sister's wedding.
- 8:39They they were riding their bikes and a drunk driver hit
- 8:43them and killed them instantly. Jonny Goudreau is one of the
- 8:47best American scorers we have seen in the last 15 years.
- 8:52This guy was the face of New Jersey and Philadelphia hockey.
- 8:58He stood for a lot. He really did.
- 9:00And you can see it after the United States won the gold
- 9:03medal, as you see the Kashuk brothers, Matthew Brady and a
- 9:08bunch of the players holding his jersey and pretty much
- 9:12celebrating his life. The Cujo family, his father and
- 9:16his mother were there in the audience.
- 9:18His kids were there. His wife was there as they were
- 9:22invited to come and celebrate. Now, nobody knew that Team USA
- 9:25was going to win the gold. I don't think Team USA knew they
- 9:29were going to win the gold. And Canada was the heavy
- 9:33favorites going into the game. There was no question with the
- 9:35talent that they have over there with Connor McDavid, who's
- 9:38arguably the greatest hockey player of this time, he has been
- 9:42as dominant as a player we've seen.
- 9:44You have McKinnon, who's one of the best hockey players, not
- 9:47only for Colorado in the NHL, Mccarr, who you can say is the
- 9:51best defenseman in all of hockey.
- 9:53The talent over there in Canada, you would say out of all the
- 9:57players playing on that Canadian team, probably the majority of
- 10:00them are going to be Hall of Farmers.
- 10:02That's how good they are. And to me, Team USA had the
- 10:07advantage going into the game was goaltending and you could
- 10:11say whatever you want. Connor Hollabock has not been
- 10:14very good in the big game over the years going into the
- 10:19playoffs with the Winnipeg Jets. He has not looked good.
- 10:23He has not looked good. Winnipeg was one of the best
- 10:25teams in the NHL 2-3 years ago and they choked early in the
- 10:30playoffs. A lot of people thought,
- 10:32including yours truly, thought they were going to make a run,
- 10:35maybe go to Stanley Cup finals and they fell very short and
- 10:39that was because Connor Hollabuck did not show up in
- 10:41those games. This is a guy last year that won
- 10:45goaltender of the year when won the Venzina Trophy.
- 10:48On the Hart Trophy. And the Hart Trophy.
- 10:50He was the best player in the NHL last year and he was a
- 10:53goalie and going in this tournament they needed Connor to
- 10:58show up because he didn't show up in the fall. 4 Nations.
- 11:02They play Team Canada in the finals and Hollabuck gave up a
- 11:06really bad goal against Connor McDavid at the end of the game,
- 11:11which sealed the deal for Team Canada in the Four Nations and I
- 11:16believe the Team USA after losing against Canada really.
- 11:20And I'll I'll give a shout out to Bill Garin, who were him and
- 11:23Beezer. John Van Beezburg has been
- 11:25developing these young superstars like Jack Hughes and
- 11:28Boldy, all these guys that have been coming up in in United
- 11:31States hockey and junior hockey, All these guys have slowly
- 11:34developed on it. You have to help.
- 11:36You have to give a shout out to John Van Beezbrook because he's
- 11:39been a part of that, and Bill Garin, who if you don't know
- 11:42Bill Garrett, played for Team USA Hockey, played for the New
- 11:45Jersey Devils. This is a guy that was a great
- 11:48United States hockey player. Was he an elite player?
- 11:50No, but he was a guy that knew how to put the puck in the net.
- 11:53So when the USA gave him the opportunity to run this team and
- 11:57build this team for this year's 2026 Olympic hockey team, you
- 12:03knew that he had to put speed on this team.
- 12:05You knew how that he had to put guys that have heart.
- 12:09And when you look at the two brothers in the Kuchuk brothers
- 12:11and Brady and Matthew and Jack and Quinn, these guys slowly but
- 12:17surely have developed. I've been to three out of the
- 12:20four guys draft classes. I interviewed all three.
- 12:24I've interviewed Brady Kuchuk, Jack Hughes and Quinn Hughes.
- 12:30I met them both and I got a chance to see these guys in.
- 12:33It was in different drafts where these guys really started to
- 12:37develop their names and remember, they all come and now
- 12:41the use brothers. Their father never played in the
- 12:44NHL, but he's coached in the AHL.
- 12:47He's coached for many, many years.
- 12:48They're from Orlando. They're from Florida.
- 12:52You would think that how does hockey players get developed in
- 12:55Orlando? How do they get developed in
- 12:57Florida? Well, we can ask our friend
- 12:59Goody that that question because hockey's grown all over the
- 13:03country, especially here in Long Island.
- 13:06McEvoy, Charlie McEvoy, who's a Long Island native, Fox, who's a
- 13:11Long Island native who was not a part of this team but was a part
- 13:14of the Four Nations team. The development of United States
- 13:20hockey has changed as far as competition is concerned.
- 13:24When you think about the Russian, the Soviet Union in the
- 13:27past, but the Russian team who did not compete in this
- 13:30tournament this year because of what's going on overseas with
- 13:32Ukraine. And the Canadians who have been
- 13:37as dominant of a team and as as dominant as a program that any
- 13:42program in professional sports, especially hockey, when you
- 13:49think of the fact of Team Canada going into this game, everybody
- 13:53and you look at the betting lines, you go look at Vegas,
- 13:55everybody had Canada winning this game.
- 13:58Nobody, I don't even think Team USA believed until after the
- 14:04third period going into overtime, they can win this
- 14:06game. And you look at guys like Jack
- 14:11Hughes, who had his teeth knocked out, cracked teeth in
- 14:15the third period. The Knicks, I mean, the Knicks,
- 14:17the United States team had an opportunity to have a 4 minute
- 14:22power play, couldn't capitalize on it.
- 14:26I think it was Peterson that knocked his teeth out.
- 14:30And everybody thought, hey, this, this might not, this might
- 14:34not happen. The United States might not get
- 14:37a chance to close out the way They had a chance to close out
- 14:41in the third period like they did with the Jack Hughes
- 14:44penalty. And then Jack Hughes had his own
- 14:48penalty in the third period, which could have cost Team USA
- 14:52because it ended a 4 minute power play, but Canada didn't.
- 14:56They didn't capitalize on that either and it was back and
- 15:00forth. Team USA won the first period,
- 15:03absolutely dominated, and then after that it was really Team
- 15:06Canada and second and third period.
- 15:11Cooper is one of the best coaches in the NHL and Sullivan
- 15:16right there with them. Two respectable coaches, two
- 15:20guys that respect each other, two guys that have been a part
- 15:24of their team and their nation's colors for the last couple of
- 15:28years. Sullivan's been running Team USA
- 15:31Hockey as the coach and Cooper's been right behind the bench for
- 15:34a significant amount of time. But you saw it at Brady Kuchuk
- 15:39during the game and, and he had a, he had a mic on him saying
- 15:44keep fighting guys, keep fighting, keep working, keep
- 15:47working. Things will happen, things will
- 15:49happen. We're winning this, we're
- 15:50winning this. And you saw it you, it's the
- 15:52confidence in some of these players.
- 15:55And I like I'm, I'm not a big fan of the Kuchuk brothers as
- 15:59anybody that listens to the show.
- 16:01I'm not a fan of Keith. I met Keith Kuchuk.
- 16:03I was there when the Saint Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup.
- 16:06He wasn't really respectable, especially didn't give me any
- 16:10respect when we were on the ice. When I wanted to interview him
- 16:13after the Blues, he works with the Blues.
- 16:15Al McGuinness gave me the opportunity to ask him a couple
- 16:18of questions, Brett Hall, Chris Pronger.
- 16:21But Keith Kuchuk just seemed like he is a real big, you know
- 16:25what, I'm not going to say it on live radio.
- 16:26I don't want to scare any kids away, but you know what I mean?
- 16:31I mean, Brady and Matthew, I've, I've heard stories.
- 16:33I, I was there when Brady got drafted.
- 16:35So Matthew was there, Keith was there, they were taking pictures
- 16:38and they just, Brady was a little bit more nicer than
- 16:42Matthew. But you can tell, you can tell
- 16:45they have a little bit of sting to them.
- 16:47You can tell that their father built them up to be tough and
- 16:54they were the tough team. They were a tough team because
- 16:56of these two guys. They would go out there if
- 16:59somebody was getting hit behind the behind the net of the
- 17:02opposing team or if the goalie got hit, Conor Hollabook got hit
- 17:05or Swayman got hit, what would happen?
- 17:08You see the Kachuck brothers start the fights and end the
- 17:11fights. It didn't matter if it was
- 17:12against Slovakia or any of the other teams that they played
- 17:15against. This team played as a team.
- 17:20They didn't lose 1 game in this tournament.
- 17:23They didn't lose 1. They absolutely dominated.
- 17:28And I'll, I'll say this, everybody says, what do you mean
- 17:30they dominated? There were games they could have
- 17:32lost the game before, they could have lost against Sweden, They
- 17:38could have lost against some of these games.
- 17:39How many games went to overtime? But you see, that's competitive
- 17:44hockey. And when you have a heart to
- 17:46win, you're going to find a way to get the game, you know, in
- 17:51your favor, you get the get the goal and end that game.
- 17:55And that's what they did. Austin Matthews, I don't know if
- 17:57he's so much of A captain, but he's had an offseason.
- 18:01Austin Matthews has not been the same Austin Matthews he's been
- 18:05with the Maple Leafs. This guy was is been the elite
- 18:09goal scorer for Team USA Hockey for a very long time.
- 18:13But going into this tournament, he really has had a bad season.
- 18:18He really has but Team USA and and maybe this will give him a
- 18:22little bit of boost. Winning the gold medal and
- 18:25really showing that it meant something in 1980.
- 18:31The Miracle on Ice, I wasn't alive for that.
- 18:34I was born in 82. I never got a chance to
- 18:37experience it, but we all know what Mike Orizione was.
- 18:42We all know what Craig, who Craig was and and we all know
- 18:46what some of these players Johnson was, Herb Brooks, what
- 18:49he stood for, for Team USA Hockey.
- 18:52If you ever seen the documentaries, there's a
- 18:56documentary right now on Netflix, Miracle.
- 19:00You seen the movies with Kurt Russell playing Herb Brooks.
- 19:06It was an amazing story. And I don't know if 2026 could
- 19:10ever be matched to the 1980 Olympic team.
- 19:13I don't know if it could ever be that way.
- 19:16But think about this. It took 46 years for Team USA to
- 19:22win another gold. 46 years. Think about that.
- 19:28The last time they experienced hoisting that flag in the
- 19:34national anthem was 1980. For American men's hockey and
- 19:42everything that you look at what they stand for and all the
- 19:44players. Let's go.
- 19:46And we we spoke about Quinton use, what he did and how what,
- 19:50what this team did. As far as completed players.
- 19:54Brady Kachuk had five points throughout the tournament in six
- 19:59games, three goals and two assists.
- 20:02Zach Warinsky, six games, six points.
- 20:07Jack Aiko, I think is one of the most important players on this
- 20:11roster. In six games had six points, two
- 20:13goals and four assists. One of the best in all of
- 20:17hockey. JT Miller, Ranger fans, even
- 20:20though he played six games and had no point, he played a big
- 20:24part of their checking and a really playing the aggressive
- 20:28type of game that Team USA wanted to play.
- 20:31Matt Boldy scoring the first goal of of the championship
- 20:36game. He had four points.
- 20:39This young kid is going to be a part of Team USA Hockey for
- 20:42many, many years. Brock Faber, Six games, two
- 20:46points, +7 all these players. Vincent Trochek, who's probably
- 20:51going to be traded sometime before the trade deadline for
- 20:55the New York Rangers, played a big part as far as far as the
- 20:59four checking is concerned for Team USA, which AT Miller.
- 21:03Dylan Larkin big time when it comes to face offs and he had a
- 21:09big part of the speed of this team and the defensive side of
- 21:13the puck. Brock Nelson by the way, was
- 21:14sensational throughout the tournament too.
- 21:16I, I know Islander fans don't want to hear it, but Brock
- 21:19Nelson was a big part of Team USA success, especially as far
- 21:23as the four checking is concerned.
- 21:25When Bill Garin put this team together, he didn't put the most
- 21:29athletic guys on the team. He put the guys that fit this
- 21:35roster. The aggression, the aggressive
- 21:39way that Team USA wanted to play in this tournament.
- 21:42They didn't compare to some of the Canadian players as far as
- 21:46talent is concerned on the ice. But there was one position that
- 21:50everybody knew they were going to be better than Canada was,
- 21:56and that was the goaltending. And I believe that Team USA had
- 22:01the best goaltending in this tournament.
- 22:04They had Jeremy Swayman, Boston, Jake Ottinger, Dallas and Connor
- 22:13Hellebuck, Winnipeg. These three guys are not only
- 22:18some of the best American born goaltenders we've ever had,
- 22:23these guys are some of the best in the NHL.
- 22:27Top five, top 6. All three of these guys have
- 22:30been there and you're you, you're seeing the video right
- 22:36now of what Hellerbuck did to another ex New York Islanders,
- 22:41Islander Devin Thames stopping him with the shaft of his stick
- 22:48in the third period. Actually, he was the second
- 22:52period, right? No, it was the third period,
- 22:53third period. One of the best saves in the
- 22:58tournament, if not the best save in the tournament, if it wasn't
- 23:04for Hellebuck doing what he did, stood on his head.
- 23:07Team USA doesn't win this game. And what Jack Hughes did after
- 23:11getting his teeth knocked, teeth knocked out, and played every
- 23:13single shift after that. He could have sat out, he could
- 23:16have bitched and moaned and cried about it.
- 23:18He got back in the game, he skated and he did what he was
- 23:23supposed to do as one of the best offensive players that Team
- 23:26USA had on his roster. And in overtime, Team USA did
- 23:33something and they caught Canada really almost having a 2 on O.
- 23:39They caught him shifting and changing, changing lines, and
- 23:43they caught him and the United States had a three on one and
- 23:47then it was a two on one. Orinsky got it to Jack Hughes
- 23:52and he buried it right behind Bennington.
- 23:56Game over match to Team USA and what the crowd and there were a
- 24:02lot of Canadian fans there. A lot of them there was half
- 24:06Canada, half American. And when Canada and and by the
- 24:10way, Makar is one of the best defensive, one of the best
- 24:14offensive players in the NHL. When he took that shot and he
- 24:18tied the game, he buried it. He buried it.
- 24:22It wasn't like Hollabuck couldn't see the puck.
- 24:25He just couldn't stop it. Canada is loaded and I think
- 24:33they were shocked when Team USA ended in an overtime as fast as
- 24:37they did. If it went any further, I think
- 24:39Team Canada wins the game and and Team USA had no offensive
- 24:43chances really throughout the late 2nd all through the third
- 24:47period. Even on that 4 minute power play
- 24:49that they had before Jack Hughes who draw the penalty got a
- 24:54penalty, they couldn't find any offensive chances, chances
- 25:01really throughout the third period.
- 25:03Bennington, whenever he did need to make a save, he made a good
- 25:07save once or twice in that third period.
- 25:11It was really Connor Hollabock standing on his head throughout
- 25:16the second and third period. That was the the amazing thought
- 25:19and if anybody wants to pin something on why Team USA won
- 25:23the gold medal on Sunday morning, it was Connor
- 25:27Hollabock. Yeah, you mentioned the
- 25:28sustained pressure that Canada had in the second and third
- 25:31period. The puck possession stats were
- 25:32really big in Canada's favor. The first period was kind of
- 25:35even. I think Canada may be slightly
- 25:36outplayed in puck possession, while I think they had two more
- 25:38shots on goal, but they dominated that whole stretch in
- 25:41the second and third period. And Hellebock made some
- 25:43unbelievable saving. Besides the Devon Davis one the
- 25:45could Chuck break away, I think it was Brady in the at the start
- 25:47of the third period. He had a tough save on McDavid
- 25:50in the second and then McKinnon, I think he had one like just off
- 25:53the side of the net or something that he got a piece of.
- 25:55So there's a lot of these wide open chances or breakaway
- 25:58chances that he was just ready for.
- 26:00And how about Charlie McAvoy jumping in front of the net and
- 26:03stopping a puff from going in? That one, yeah, Charlie McAvoy
- 26:06has always been one of the more alert defense.
- 26:08When you saw the US get very physical in front of the net,
- 26:10one they had to be too, which is something that.
- 26:12Well, if you look at Bill Guerin, like with his Minnesota
- 26:13Wild team, this is something that would have been questioned
- 26:16with Hugh's another one they did a trade for.
- 26:17And he's kind of undersized, but he played tough when.
- 26:19He They had Speedy, they had many opportunities to bury the
- 26:23puck behind Hellerbuck. They had an open net.
- 26:25McKinnon had an open net and missed it.
- 26:26Missed wide. Yeah, missed it.
- 26:28It was wide open for him to put it in and he couldn't find the
- 26:31net. And this guy is one of the best
- 26:33goal scorers in the NHL. Colorado, who arguably is the
- 26:36best team right now in all of the National Hockey League.
- 26:39He couldn't and he's the best player.
- 26:41Him and Makar, you can argue with the two best players on
- 26:44that roster and it's a loaded roster and he's probably the
- 26:48best offensive option they have and couldn't bury the puck.
- 26:51He was the best offensive, like he should probably.
- 26:53If Hellebuck didn't have the year he had, he was going to win
- 26:55the Heart trophy in the kid last year.
- 26:57He was the best offensive player in the league last year during
- 26:59the regular season. And yeah, they just had a lot of
- 27:01chances they couldn't and they had so many good passes.
- 27:04They made the right place a lot of the time.
- 27:05It just was hard for them to do that and eventually the US was
- 27:08going to break even because the US had enough transition
- 27:11opportunities. I think in the first period they
- 27:12even some. They dominated the first.
- 27:14Period. Yeah.
- 27:15I would say like even in the like middle of the third period,
- 27:18US had enough transition opportunities where they could
- 27:19have done at Bington and a nice save on Brock Nelson that you
- 27:22mentioned that in the third period.
- 27:25And I think they because of that they had enough confidence in
- 27:28their transition game, their passing ability that they had.
- 27:31And I agree with you, if it went longer in overtime, that would
- 27:33definitely benefited Canada because of the way Canada was
- 27:35possessing the puck for most of. That and the way Connor McDavid
- 27:38was skating really in the third period, he was unstoppable and
- 27:42you can see he could skate circles around half those
- 27:44players on the ice, including his own players.
- 27:47He is that good of a player. Every time he touched the puck,
- 27:50my, I started like hoping that somebody was going to take the
- 27:53puck away from him because I, I started my everything.
- 27:56I was sweating every time he touched the puck every and he
- 27:59was out there almost every single shift, every other shift.
- 28:02Conor McDavid was out there. It was amazing how much stamp
- 28:05there this guy has and the skating ability he has when it
- 28:09comes to that stamina and, and, and really going up and down an
- 28:12Olympic ice. Remember, the Olympic ice is
- 28:14bigger than the NHL ice. Right.
- 28:16And that's where I think you mentioned too with the
- 28:17development systems when you talk about the any or the the
- 28:20Olympics, changing the rules backward of the NHL players
- 28:23could participate because the last three years they were not
- 28:24able to that automatically jump starts the development system
- 28:28for the US like you say with Van Beesbrook and Garen there, did
- 28:31you have to change that philosophy to make it work?
- 28:33And Canada to the same kind of thing.
- 28:35Now, Canada didn't have the obviously the same level of the
- 28:37goaltending, but they had the same level of really everything
- 28:39else, fast skating, great play making type guys where I think a
- 28:43lot of those other European nations were kind of ahead
- 28:45because a lot of those NHL players played with some of the
- 28:48amateur players where you saw Russia when the well IO Russia,
- 28:52IOC, they weren't allowed to use their flag.
- 28:54When the last one in 2022, you saw Sweden win some other ones
- 28:57as well because I think they had that national chemistry where I
- 29:00don't know if the US had those types of things with those
- 29:02younger players and the same kind of thing with Canada.
- 29:04Here's another thing, when I got a chance to interview John Van
- 29:07Beesbrook years ago in Dallas and I was working the media and
- 29:11he I was one of very few people he would talk to and speak to.
- 29:15One of the reasons why is he's one of my favorite players, one
- 29:17of my favorite athletes growing up.
- 29:19So I got a chance to interview him right by the rafters, right
- 29:23behind the rafters. And it was crazy because I asked
- 29:26him, what could you tell me a little bit about Team USA
- 29:29Hockey? Who do we look forward to seeing
- 29:32up and coming stars in the NHL in the future?
- 29:34And this was years ago. And he said the Kachuk Kachuk
- 29:37brothers are definitely there. But he said the you brothers.
- 29:40And that was that was when Quinn you was was drafted.
- 29:44And I remember that draft. It wasn't when obviously Jack
- 29:47used and he said his brother Jack is going to be one of the
- 29:49best young offensive players the United States has ever had.
- 29:52Watch out for this kid. This kid is going to be that
- 29:54type of player. And I didn't know who he was
- 29:57until he was drafted. And everybody said, look at his
- 30:00size. Is his size going to work in the
- 30:02NHL? That's what they said.
- 30:04Is it going to work? Is it going to be this or is it
- 30:06going to be that? Well, ladies and gentlemen, his
- 30:09size does not matter. It's his speed is his leg
- 30:11strength. And when I got a chance to see
- 30:13him when he was drafted at #1 in Capoco at the and the Ranger
- 30:16fans wanted Jack Hughes. I remember that a worse before
- 30:20that everybody thought that the Rangers were going to, you know,
- 30:25somehow trade up and and at #2 to get to #1.
- 30:28There was no way the new. Jersey I won.
- 30:29The Devils were doing it. Were going to trade with the
- 30:32Rangers when Jack Hughes was signed and and and obviously
- 30:35brought in and drafted by the New Jersey Devils.
- 30:38I looked at him and I'm like man, this guy's legs are like
- 30:40tree trunks. When I saw him, he he's not the
- 30:43tallest guy he's like 5-10 at best.
- 30:46I was a little bit taller than him, so I would say he was a
- 30:49little bit under 510, but but on skates he's about 6 foot or 511.
- 30:54But what I like about this kid is he's nice, he's kind.
- 30:59He was very good to the media, very uplifting, very kind and
- 31:03collective, gave you all the answers you wanted from a young
- 31:07superstar United States player. When Brady was drafted, Brady
- 31:11didn't say much to the media. As a matter of fact, his father
- 31:13spoke for him and so did Matthew.
- 31:16So it wasn't like Brady went out there and opened his mouth.
- 31:19Now, I'm not saying Brady Kuchuk is anything like his father in
- 31:22Matthew. I think Matthew is a little bit
- 31:23more abrupt, a little bit less kind to the media than Brady is.
- 31:28I think Brady, I think, speaks a little bit more formal and
- 31:32understands what the media is going to do for him if he ever
- 31:36wants to leave Ottawa, which could be very soon.
- 31:39But I think that what the Chuck brothers bring to the game,
- 31:45United States hockey is aggressive play.
- 31:48That's what you want. You want guys that are going to
- 31:50go up, they're going to slam you in the boards, they're going to
- 31:52four check you, they're going to dominate you behind the net and
- 31:55they're going to make sure you feel them every time they hit
- 31:57you. And that's what Brady does.
- 31:59And Brady, I think he's a little bit different than Matthew
- 32:02because offensively the guy has a gift.
- 32:05When he gets a puck in on his Dick, he could put it right
- 32:07behind the net, he could put it right, right behind the goal
- 32:11very quickly. He's got unbelievable hands.
- 32:13Matthew, he's got good hands. He's talented.
- 32:16He's got the ability to do what Brady can do, but he doesn't do
- 32:19it with ease like Brady can do it.
- 32:21Brady makes it look much easier than Matthew does.
- 32:25And you can see the difference in the style of game that both
- 32:28these guys play. And I, I, I say the same thing
- 32:31about Quinn Hughes. Quinn Hughes was the best
- 32:34defenseman throughout this tournament, even better than
- 32:37Macar. He was that good.
- 32:40When you talk about USA defenseman, Brian Leach comes to
- 32:44mind. Brian Leach, Phil Housley comes
- 32:47to mind. These guys are some of the
- 32:50greatest American born defenseman of all time for Team
- 32:54USA Hockey. And remember NHL players in the
- 32:57past times in the the late or early 90s did not play in the
- 33:02Olympics. It took really the mid 90s or
- 33:05late 90s for that to transition. After the World Cup.
- 33:09It was different and I remember the World Cup because I think it
- 33:11was 9596 when Team USA beat Team Canada in the world.
- 33:16Cup, I would imagine there's a lot of like, but the just the
- 33:18changes in Russia and like. Everything.
- 33:19Mike Richter was the goaltender. The starting goaltender was John
- 33:22Van Beesbruck and Tom Barrasso, a part of a part of those Team
- 33:25USA teams. Some of the greatest goal
- 33:27tenders of the 90s. Yeah, I was.
- 33:29Going to imagine a lot of those of Russian players and even the
- 33:31even the Swedish and Fenders, some of them like defected a lot
- 33:34of the time right after the Cold War.
- 33:35So I would imagine there was a lot of like roster turnover,
- 33:38both those teams, big window for US and Canada at that time.
- 33:41I think the difference right now when you see United States
- 33:45hockey is we're more grittier and there's more opportunity to
- 33:49build young superstars in the United States junior hockey
- 33:55divisions. If you look at some of the
- 33:57junior hockey teams around the country and some of the places
- 34:01that they are building, some of the best young United States
- 34:04hockey players, including here in Long Island, New York, which
- 34:07there's been like 7 or 8 NHL players that have been drafted
- 34:12here in the last 10 years. And I would say about six of
- 34:14them have become stars in the NHL.
- 34:17It says a lot about the development here in New York.
- 34:20Thank Mark Messier, thank some of the Adam Graves and some of
- 34:24the hockey players, Darius Kasparidis and Vladimir Molikoff
- 34:27guys, Benoit Hogue and and some of those guys that have helped
- 34:31developed young stars and young players here at the NHL level.
- 34:36So it's been it's been crazy. And also look at the guys, like
- 34:42look at Hagen, who was just drafted out of the draft from
- 34:45the Boston Bruins, Young superstar from Comac, kids going
- 34:49to be a star, going to be a stud, probably play for Team USA
- 34:52in the very near future. It's bright.
- 34:55Not just here in New York, throughout the East and West
- 34:58Coast. There are a lot of great hockey
- 34:59players coming from the West Side.
- 35:00Yes, LA, Sacramento, San Francisco, there are there.
- 35:05There's just so much development here and hockey become such a
- 35:09big sport and you, everybody boos Gary Bettman, everybody
- 35:12boos the guy. But here's the thing, Gary
- 35:14Bettman has been the best commissioner in all of the big
- 35:18sports here in America. I'm talking about better than
- 35:21Adam Silver and Rob Manfred and Roger Goodell.
- 35:24Yes, all these guys have brought in money for their respectable
- 35:27leagues, but guess what? Gary Bettman's been there the
- 35:30longest and Gary Bettman has not changed his way.
- 35:34He didn't. He didn't do anything.
- 35:35As a matter of fact, he did the one thing that a lot of these
- 35:38commissioners will not do, and they have these lottery drafts.
- 35:41Now they're doing it. They're picking the bulls in
- 35:44front of the media, in front of the fans, showing them that
- 35:47nobody is cheating as the New York Islanders for the first
- 35:51time ever, right in front of the fans, right in front of
- 35:54everybody. They picked the ball and it fell
- 35:57their way. And they got Matthew Shaffer,
- 35:59which could change their organization for many, many
- 36:03years to come. So Gary Bettman has done
- 36:05something that a lot of these commissioners don't have the
- 36:07balls to do. Adam Silver and your goofy brain
- 36:09take. Notes.
- 36:10Well, you could I. Agree.
- 36:12As far as Bettman goes, he's been there forever.
- 36:14Bettman's. Have you ever met him?
- 36:15He's like a really tiny guy. I did meet Gary.
- 36:18But hey, you know what? He does a great job.
- 36:20For the for the league, he has for a very long time.
- 36:23You mentioned the West Coast. It's real easy to be a fan if
- 36:26you're on the West Coast in San Jose these days because Macklin
- 36:30Celebrini outside of Conor McDavid just jumped off the
- 36:32screen the entire time he was on the ice.
- 36:35I, I was, I don't know if I was more scared of him or I mean,
- 36:38obviously McDavid. I mean, McDavid is just crazy.
- 36:40He's so fast and so powerful how he skates like even if he like
- 36:44doesn't get a good like dump into the zone, he's always able
- 36:48to back check and catch back up like he's always is because he's
- 36:51so fast and has such a like immediate turn back.
- 36:54Like he's a two way player and then he's unfairly good on the
- 36:57offensive side celebrating. He's maybe not as good two way
- 37:00just yet, but he looks like he is just lightning out there.
- 37:04It is sick what he's doing. McKinnon, my God, he had a wide
- 37:09open net arrow. He's sitting there with the puck
- 37:11on his This just sitting there like doorstep.
- 37:14They they had the game and US, you know, look, makes me happy
- 37:18as a Ranger fan to know that the old Ranger theory of hey, just
- 37:21get a goalie to stand on their head and, you know, have some
- 37:24good offensive plays and maybe we'll tic tac toe it into the
- 37:27net and we'll be great. So basically Fisher saying the
- 37:30Rangers should petition for single.
- 37:31Elimination NHL play offs because that's all they want to
- 37:33lobby for. Look it, it works.
- 37:35It worked in this. One for them.
- 37:37Mike Sullivan was there. He coached him on the way to do
- 37:39it. JT Miller now has gold medal
- 37:41experience as a captain of the Rangers.
- 37:44I thought him and Trocheck played well.
- 37:46Trocheck was their face off guy. They brought him in in overtime
- 37:50and then immediately told his ass to get off the ice to send
- 37:53in Jack Hughes. I think.
- 37:53I think he was the one who got off for Hughes.
- 37:56How about how about every time Bo Horvat was?
- 37:59Out there for Team Canada, he won every single face off.
- 38:01Every single face off. He was out for the most
- 38:04important face offs, including Makar's goal.
- 38:07He won that face off, which practically gave Makar that
- 38:10open, open shot. So I'm going to tell you this Bo
- 38:13Horvat, I mean, was an absolute steal by Lou Lamorello.
- 38:16And everybody was questioning what Lou Lamorello did and then
- 38:19giving Bo Horvat that contract. He was as important to Team
- 38:23Canada as any player. Connor McDavid, Makar McKinnon,
- 38:26any one of those guys, even Celebrini.
- 38:29I, I mean, and Celebrina was to me throughout the tournament as
- 38:33good as Connor McDavid. And that's why they were playing
- 38:35on the same line. Could you imagine Connor McDavid
- 38:37and Celebrini playing on the same team on the same line?
- 38:41And how about dry sidle, Celebrini dry sidle and Connor
- 38:45McDavid on one line? How scary would that be?
- 38:49How scary would that end you got to give America?
- 38:52Some love, though. They were able to stop that
- 38:54onslaught. It shouldn't have been possible.
- 38:56Like you were saying it earlier, Errol, I asked AI, they said 15
- 38:59to 20 future Hall of farmers in this game.
- 39:02And I think more than half of them were on Canada's side.
- 39:06I mean, you could just go through some of the names here,
- 39:08you know, just obvious names right off the bat.
- 39:11I mean, Sidney Crosby didn't play.
- 39:12Now, I don't know if that would have made the difference or not.
- 39:15I think so. I think it would have Sidney.
- 39:18Crosby has killed Team USA even think about how many times did
- 39:23Sidney Crosby put the puck in the net against Team USA.
- 39:25Even in the games that you would you would point out where he
- 39:28wasn't playing as well as some of the other players on the
- 39:31roster. He's scary in the big game.
- 39:33Sid the kid always finds a way to bury the puck and stick it
- 39:37right to Team USA. So thank God he didn't play in
- 39:39the game and I you can see it in his face.
- 39:41He wanted. I tend to agree with you, but
- 39:43some of the. Stuff you were hearing from the
- 39:44guys on the in the broadcast that this was like the fastest
- 39:47game they've ever seen in their lives.
- 39:50Like just the skating on this level with like the types of,
- 39:53you know, young athletes that are skating might have been
- 39:55pretty hard for an older guy to to keep up with them, even if it
- 39:58was Sid the kid. But it was just an unbelievable
- 40:01game. McDavid, McKinnon, surefire Hall
- 40:04of farmers, Marshan. We can't even talk about
- 40:06Marshan. Hall of Famer Drew Dowdy is on
- 40:10that team. They're all are Famers, Every
- 40:13one of them. I mean, in a car.
- 40:14Except Bennington. Three on three overtime.
- 40:16Three and. Three on Bennington, three on
- 40:18three overtime. Bennington's not a Hall of Fame,
- 40:21no. He's not a Hall of Famer, but he
- 40:22played. Really good.
- 40:23He was. He was really, I mean Team USA.
- 40:25Didn't put the puck on it as much as they should have after
- 40:28the after the first period. I mean, he had a couple of big
- 40:31saves in the second and third period, but he really didn't do
- 40:34as much as Hollabuck was doing. Well, Hollabuck didn't.
- 40:37He didn't have to do as much as Hellabuck.
- 40:39For sure, you know, like it. That was that was was
- 40:41definitely, you know, other guys on the did you hear?
- 40:44What did you hear? What, Eddie?
- 40:45Olczyk was saying throughout the game after the if, if Team USA
- 40:48wins this game, everybody on Team USA should give Hollabuck
- 40:53their gold medal because he's the reason why they won or
- 40:56they're going to win the gold medal.
- 40:57After all the saves that he made in the third period, even at the
- 41:01end of the second period, some of the unbelievable glove saves
- 41:04that he was making and they were, they were doing everything
- 41:07against him, standing in front of him.
- 41:08Is he a Hall of Famer now with this?
- 41:10Performance and the three he's going, he's going to be a hall.
- 41:14Of Famer, there's no Does this make it official?
- 41:17Though right now I thought he was this moment.
- 41:18I I. Thought he was a Hall of Famer
- 41:20before this. I, I mean, think about this
- 41:22Connor Hollabuck and, and they said they, they told the story
- 41:25during the game and his, his brother plays obviously AHL
- 41:30hockey or OHL hockey. His father couldn't afford both
- 41:33of them playing travel hockey. So Connor really didn't play for
- 41:37one of those big colleges. I think he played for UMass or
- 41:40something like that. He didn't play for a top D1
- 41:43school because he couldn't play for those travel teams where he
- 41:46could be seen. So whoever gave him a full
- 41:48scholarship, that's where he was going.
- 41:50Connor Hollebuck is really. And remember, he was a fifth
- 41:53round draft pick too. A lot of teams passed on him and
- 41:58look at what he's turned out to be.
- 41:59Winnipeg didn't pass on him. And look at the talented court,
- 42:02a goaltender he is and he's still only 32 years old.
- 42:05He's going to play in another Olympic game.
- 42:08He is he is definitely going to play in another Olympic
- 42:12championship game if Team USA makes it that far in the future.
- 42:16I mean, I it's I thought he was a Hall of Famer before this, But
- 42:20what he did in this game and what he stood for after the game
- 42:24and what he said to the media after the game and saying that
- 42:28if it wasn't for the players in front of me and and doing the
- 42:30things that they did behind me in front of me, I wouldn't had
- 42:34had the game and I wouldn't have seen the puck as well as I did
- 42:37in the game to stop some of the best players in the world.
- 42:39And also fish. I think the factor in as.
- 42:41Well, the goalie longevity today, now you don't see as many
- 42:44that really stretch out. So I think the same way we
- 42:46talked about a few weeks ago with the NFL likes a lot of
- 42:48players retiring early. Like I think the same thing will
- 42:51be rewarded with peak performances with goalies too,
- 42:53because there's not many in today's era that last as long as
- 42:56you're seeing with a lot of these goalie platoons now.
- 42:58So him having a great six year peak with those 3 Vasanas
- 43:01combined with this now, which is an unbelievable.
- 43:03GAIL Goldman, you also want a heart too, yes?
- 43:05And winning a heart which hasn't been done for a.
- 43:07Goalie in this era, that's what I'm saying.
- 43:09Like you know it. Takes a lot.
- 43:11There's not a lot of I mean, it's very hard to draft high on
- 43:15a goalie and be good on it. I mean, your your old nemesis
- 43:20from the island. There's Di Pietro comes to mind
- 43:23as a top goalie draft pick, but you know, you don't you don't
- 43:26really see it. You like Lungfest with the
- 43:29Rangers was a later draft pick. Igor wasn't a high high draft
- 43:33pick either. You know, it's just like either
- 43:35Sarokin was a it's it's kind. Of more of a crapshoot.
- 43:37I feel like at that position in the draft, you really need the
- 43:40goalie coaching. For it, yes, that's why you're
- 43:42not and it also. It also depends where you're
- 43:44coming from if. Obviously, Lungquist came from
- 43:46the Swedish OR organization, so Sweden always has good
- 43:50goaltending. And then Sarokin and Igor
- 43:53Shastarkin, where do they come from?
- 43:54They come from the Russians. And some of the best Russian
- 43:57goaltender, really the best goaltenders in all of the world
- 44:00are Russian players. Think about it.
- 44:02I mean, so Vasilevsky is another goaltender who won multiple
- 44:08Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
- 44:10So he's goalie of the decade. Yeah, so.
- 44:12I mean if you look at. An American goaltending has
- 44:14really developed over the years. As a matter of fact, I think
- 44:18American goaltending has been the best in the last 20 years.
- 44:23I know they don't have those guys that really stand out like
- 44:25the Henrik Lundquist of the world, but go if you look back
- 44:28at some of the great goaltenders that we've seen develop in
- 44:31United States in the United States program and that's
- 44:34something I spoke about Van Beesburg, I spoke to Van
- 44:36Beesburg with when it came to interview him in Dallas.
- 44:39I said, will we ever see a goaltender like you 5859 playing
- 44:43in the NHL says it's not a chance in hell, not a chance in
- 44:46hell. The smallest goaltender in the
- 44:48NHL is Jonathan Quick, who it was 6 foot 6 foot 1.
- 44:52He says, I don't think you'll ever see a goalie that small in
- 44:54the NHL. They're going to be 6 two or
- 44:56bigger if they want to play professional hockey.
- 44:58And that's, that's the difference right now in hockey,
- 45:01bigger Nets and obviously more to, you know, more to take up
- 45:05and, and look at. If you look at Conor Hollabuck,
- 45:07he's one of the biggest goalies in the NHL.
- 45:09He's 6 foot four and he's 230 lbs and you can see or 220
- 45:15something pounds where you can see his abilities, reflexes and
- 45:19the way he could take up the net.
- 45:20I mean, he was unbelievable some of the saves that he made.
- 45:24And remember, Conor Hollabuck is not a butterfly goalie.
- 45:28He is a stand up goalie. That's what he is.
- 45:31So it's it's a lot more harder now in these days cutting down
- 45:36angles with his size and being a stand up goalie than being a
- 45:39butterfly goalie and taking up the lower part of the net.
- 45:41So and what makes him so unique is he takes up the lower part of
- 45:46the net as good as anybody in the NHL and that's what's
- 45:48amazing about him. So I don't think people
- 45:50understand the goal tending end of hockey and how big he is and
- 45:54how much he takes up the smaller part of the net where you're
- 45:57going to have to go high on him. And he's got one of the fastest
- 46:00gloves in the NHL too. Yeah, I think a lot of them are
- 46:03prioritizing. A lot more, I think more of the
- 46:05Pecorine prototypes, those bigger goalies that are athletic
- 46:08made those unbelievable saves than you're seeing with the
- 46:10Jonathan Quick and Henrik Lundqvist types anymore.
- 46:12I think even if this generation of goalies, probably the only
- 46:15one that I think of that 6 foot is probably John Gibson offhand
- 46:17and he's not even a great goalie.
- 46:19So like you're judging at least if you don't have the
- 46:22athleticism, you still have the frame to make it work.
- 46:24Got it. Before we move on, just want to
- 46:26give a. Shout out one of our Western New
- 46:28York teams, Tage Thompson having to go against that onslaught of
- 46:32forwards from Canada. He's a big part of the reason
- 46:35why there was a lot of bending and not breaking.
- 46:37I thought the way forward. Shout out to Bill Garin for
- 46:39making that move. Because he didn't pick him to be
- 46:42a part of the the the Four Nations.
- 46:45And a lot of people were questioning how is Tage Thompson
- 46:47not make the four Nation team? And this guy was sent down to
- 46:50the AHL a couple of times before he he started to play as an
- 46:54elite player for Buffalo. And he wasn't even drafted by
- 46:57the Buffalo Sabres. He was traded by the Buffalo, He
- 47:00was traded for by the Buffalo Sabres.
- 47:02So from the Blues, from Ryan. O'Reilly Ryan.
- 47:04O'Reilly so and you've seen. Ryan O'Reilly help them win a
- 47:07Stanley Cup and Tage Thompson has been one of the best young
- 47:10offensive options the Buffalo Sabres and the NHL has seen in a
- 47:14very, very long time. How many forty goal seasons has
- 47:17he had or thirty goal seasons has he had?
- 47:19He's been a big important growth of the Buffalo Sabres and where
- 47:22they are today. Speaking of fun, ladies and
- 47:24gentlemen, my golf clap of the week.
- 47:27This deserves a golf clap, no doubt.
- 47:30Golf clap. Golf Clap.
- 47:34All right, My Golf Club of the Week goes to United States gold.
- 47:39Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time ever, the United
- 47:43States have won more gold medals in an Olympic Games, and that
- 47:49would be 12. They came in second place right
- 47:52by right behind Norway, who won 18 gold medals, 12 Silvers, 11
- 47:57bronze for 41 medals for Norway, the United States 12 gold, 12
- 48:03silvers, 9 bronzes for 33 total medals.
- 48:07Right behind them, Italy with 30 total medals, 10 golds for them.
- 48:13To me, the Olympics is is so great to watch and especially
- 48:17getting a chance to see Team USA Hockey winning the gold medal
- 48:20and knocking off Canada. It makes you feel good to be an
- 48:22American, even makes you feel even more good when you watch
- 48:26the figure skating. You watch the all the different
- 48:29things, the curling, all the crazy things that we've watched
- 48:32over the the last couple of weeks, snowboarding, skiing.
- 48:36It's fun and you want to know something.
- 48:38It's a great thing to see the United States dominate the way
- 48:41they did in the Winter Olympics this year.
- 48:44So my golf clap goes to United States and gold championship
- 48:51wins. So my Golf Club, ladies and
- 48:53gentlemen, Golf Club to United States gold.

- 49:49radio network channel if you want to check that out as well.
- 49:53Who do we have on on Thursday? Nobody yet.
- 49:55Nothing yet. And if it's working on something
- 49:57I should, I'm going to reach out to Neil Smith as well trying.
- 49:59To get him on, yeah, I definitely like to hear Neil
- 50:02Smith's. Take on Team USA Hockey and Neil
- 50:04Smith is a Canadian, so I'm sure he didn't like the fact that
- 50:08you're not USA won the Olympic gold medal.
- 50:11But by the way, what Team USA did with Goudreau and Johnny
- 50:16Goudreau and his family for him and his brother was sensational.
- 50:20It shows the heart and soul of this United States hockey team
- 50:24and how how much and how important the Goudreau family
- 50:27meant to every single player from, you know, from top to
- 50:30bottom. The youth and and and the future
- 50:33of Team USA Hockey stands for something.
- 50:35When you see Johnny Goudreau's United States 15 jersey being
- 50:40held up while they're skating around the ice and celebrating.
- 50:44So it was sensational, it really was.
- 50:46And seeing his kids get a chance to be on there.
- 50:48It is speedy. I mean, not Speedy.
- 50:52Fish is posting up on the social media.
- 50:54All the kids are on the ice, but the players taking pictures with
- 50:57the team. So it was nice to see and shout
- 51:00out to Bill Guerin, John Van Beesbrook and Team USA Hockey
- 51:04for doing and and really doing something special like that and
- 51:09inviting the Goudreau family to celebrate this unbelievable
- 51:12feat, which took 46 years to do. So a long, long time.
- 51:17And hopefully it doesn't take that long again because we do
- 51:21remember 1994 for the New York Rangers and it's been a long 1A
- 51:24long one for you Ranger fans. Neil Smith knows all about it.
- 51:27Yes, he does. Because he's the one.
- 51:30That built that team and the Rangers pretty much threw the
- 51:33Wolves, threw them to the Wolves.
- 51:35And he was the one that traded John Van Biesburg and we had our
- 51:37conversation. So I love Neil now.
- 51:40He he kind of made me feel good about why he traded John Van
- 51:43Biesburg and he gave me his his take on it.
- 51:45So thank you to Neil, thank you to all the fans.
- 51:47We will be back on Thursday. Until then, this is Arrow and
- 51:51the the clan of jabbing them out, saying goodnight and we'll
- 51:54talk to you then. Goodnight, everybody.
