- 0:04Speaker 1: Mark Simon, show well, Roger Friedman, the great entertainment reporter.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You should check his website, Showbiz for one one dot com.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Showbiz for one one dot COM's new stuff every day.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Up there, Roger Friedman, How you doing, I'm great. How
- 0:22Speaker 1: are you good? I've been hearing about this. Steven Spielberg
- 0:25Speaker 1: film Day of Disclosure. This is like the film disclosure day,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Disclosure Day, Disclosure Day, disclosure.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Loved it.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Well, I heard a big blockbuster every it's gonna be
- 0:34Speaker 1: the biggest. But you said it didn't do so well
- 0:37Speaker 1: at the box office.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It didn't. It's having a soft opening so far, which
- 0:41Speaker 2: I'm surprised by. But the weather was terrible last night.
- 0:45Speaker 2: And this weekend we've got the World Cup and everyone's
- 0:48Speaker 2: going to watch the NBA tomorrow night. No one's gonna
- 0:51Speaker 2: go to the movies. Everyone's gonna be watching the Knicks.
- 0:54Speaker 2: But you know, it's a great movie and everyone should
- 0:57Speaker 2: get up to see it tonight. I loved it. Emily
- 1:00Speaker 2: Blunt is terrific and the story is really really good.
- 1:05Speaker 2: And if you loved ET and Close Encounters of the
- 1:08Speaker 2: Third Kind, this is sort of the unofficial third part
- 1:11Speaker 2: of that story, where the whole revelation of what the
- 1:17Speaker 2: government has been keeping from us about UFOs for the
- 1:21Speaker 2: last seventy nine years is exposed finally, And it's great.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I thought it was great. It was very exciting.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Not Spielberg. I would imagine. It's a big budget film.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But there wasn't a lot of publicity or marketing about this,
- 1:34Speaker 1: was there.
- 1:35Speaker 2: No, there wasn't. I don't know why either. Universal was
- 1:39Speaker 2: very strange about the way they marketed this movie. They
- 1:42Speaker 2: didn't do much in New York. They just had really
- 1:46Speaker 2: their big screenings in LA They held it here till
- 1:50Speaker 2: the last minute Monday night. There was a premiere here
- 1:54Speaker 2: in New York, but it was on the small side. Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 2: And I don't know. I don't know why. I can't
- 2:02Speaker 2: explain it, and no one can explain it to me.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But it doesn't matter because the movie is terrific and
- 2:09Speaker 2: it would be terrible if people didn't get out and
- 2:13Speaker 2: see it, because I think once they do see it,
- 2:15Speaker 2: they're going to they'll they'll want to go back and
- 2:16Speaker 2: see it again. I'd like to see it a second time.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Really the truth.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because the story is it's not complicated, but
- 2:24Speaker 2: there's things in it good that are going on that
- 2:26Speaker 2: you'd like to go back and see again.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Well, if you don't know, it's the new Spielberg movie.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It's called Disclosure Days. It's about we find out there
- 2:34Speaker 1: are aliens.
- 2:37Speaker 2: From find out the aliens have been have been here
- 2:40Speaker 2: for seventy nine years. Oh and and and I don't
- 2:46Speaker 2: want to give it away, but it's worth getting to
- 2:48Speaker 2: the end of this movie. It's very cool at the end, well,
- 2:51Speaker 2: very very cool these aliens. What I can tell her
- 2:54Speaker 2: By the ending, Tom Holman shows up and rounds them
- 2:56Speaker 2: all up, these aliens. How did the Tony.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Awards do.
- 3:05Speaker 2: The Tony Awards? You know, they did all right. They
- 3:07Speaker 2: did the same numbers as they did last year. But
- 3:09Speaker 2: people were a little disappointed because they thought they would
- 3:12Speaker 2: do better. They had no competition this year. Last year
- 3:15Speaker 2: they had the NBA Finals against them. This year they
- 3:18Speaker 2: had nothing all night. And I don't know why the show.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I was at the show at Radio City and it
- 3:25Speaker 2: was a very good show. It's very well produced, but
- 3:29Speaker 2: maybe the order of it was a little weird. There's
- 3:31Speaker 2: a new producer involved, and the order of the show
- 3:34Speaker 2: is a little weird. They were giving out awards sort
- 3:36Speaker 2: of randomly. But I'll tell you, Pink was the host
- 3:40Speaker 2: and she was fabulous. She did the opening number, was
- 3:45Speaker 2: great and had like one hundred and seventy people on
- 3:49Speaker 2: stage at Radio City, and then she came back later
- 3:52Speaker 2: and did the anniversary of the musical Chicago, and it
- 3:57Speaker 2: was like, everybody said, she should go right into the
- 3:59Speaker 2: show on Broadway. She's perfect. So she was great, and
- 4:03Speaker 2: there were a lot of terrific people coming and going
- 4:05Speaker 2: on stage. Julia Luis Dreysis was there, and Bernadette Peters.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You know, there was a great tribute to the Book
- 4:13Speaker 2: of Mormon that was a lot of fun. So I
- 4:17Speaker 2: don't know the numbers were as good as they were
- 4:19Speaker 2: last year, so the same number of people watched. But
- 4:22Speaker 2: you know, right now we're in this great time on Broadway.
- 4:25Speaker 2: We have a lot of terrific shows. Ragtime won a
- 4:29Speaker 2: lot of awards the other night, and that is the
- 4:31Speaker 2: show everybody wants to see at Lincoln Center. Yeah, it's
- 4:34Speaker 2: going to close in August, so we have to rush
- 4:36Speaker 2: in there and go see it. And there's just a
- 4:40Speaker 2: lot of good shows playing right now.
- 4:42Speaker 1: How's Broadway doing money? Wise, is that everything's good.
- 4:46Speaker 2: But yeah, everything's good. Money wise, it's good. It's also
- 4:50Speaker 2: we're right in that period between the school holiday school
- 4:55Speaker 2: holiday season, the numbers were way up and they'll be
- 4:58Speaker 2: back up again as soon as school is out and
- 5:00Speaker 2: and all summers should be very very good.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Now, Roger Freeman, let me ask you about this Taylor
- 5:05Speaker 1: Swift all of a sudden, you know, yeah, she said,
- 5:07Speaker 1: the football game gets a ton of attention. Suddenly, she said,
- 5:10Speaker 1: a lot of football games getting a ton of attention.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Why was she all of a sudden at a Knicks game?
- 5:14Speaker 1: Nobody's ever seen her at a Knicks game before?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Well, she I checked, I went back and looked. She
- 5:21Speaker 2: went to two Knicks games in twenty fourteen. Then she
- 5:24Speaker 2: went to it at the Garden, so that's twelve years ago.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And then and who knows why she went then? And
- 5:30Speaker 2: then she went last year she went with her fiancee,
- 5:34Speaker 2: Travis Kelcey to a Cavaliers game in Cleveland against the
- 5:38Speaker 2: Knicks because he's a big Cavaliers fan. So why was
- 5:42Speaker 2: she sitting in the front row with her girlfriends two
- 5:45Speaker 2: nights ago. Well, the word is that she's getting married
- 5:49Speaker 2: in Madison Square, Garden on July third. They're actually taking
- 5:52Speaker 2: the garden is closed for six days, which is very unusual,
- 5:56Speaker 2: and they're going to take over I don't know, five
- 5:59Speaker 2: hundred on the floor and put on their put on
- 6:02Speaker 2: a wedding and they say this is the only secure
- 6:04Speaker 2: place they can do it. So I can think she
- 6:07Speaker 2: came to look at her wedding venue the other night.
- 6:10Speaker 2: That's basically I don't know if she tried the food
- 6:13Speaker 2: for I don't know. It's all have hot dogs for
- 6:14Speaker 2: the catering. Yeah, but if she really has this wedding
- 6:17Speaker 2: at the garden, that's why she was there. And that's
- 6:20Speaker 2: the only thing that makes any sense, because why is
- 6:22Speaker 2: she up and dancing at a Knicks game. On the
- 6:25Speaker 2: other hand, she gave them good luck. You know, maybe
- 6:28Speaker 2: she'll go out to San Antonio tomorrow night and continue
- 6:31Speaker 2: to give them good luck. I don't know.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I think she got her publicity.
- 6:34Speaker 2: That's it for the She got her publicity. She's had
- 6:37Speaker 2: a big week. Actually, on Monday she was at the Knicks.
- 6:43Speaker 2: She also did the Disney premiere in La for Toy
- 6:48Speaker 2: Story five because she has the song from the movie. Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Last and last night she was at the Songwriters Hall
- 6:54Speaker 2: of Fame, where she gave a twenty minute acceptance speech
- 6:58Speaker 2: as the youngest female to be inducted in the Songwriters
- 7:02Speaker 2: Hall of Fame. And Steven Spielberg, who we were just
- 7:05Speaker 2: talking about, inducted her, which was very strange because we
- 7:08Speaker 2: didn't even think she knew him, but somehow they got
- 7:11Speaker 2: together and he came and gave her a beautiful induction.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Wow.
- 7:15Speaker 2: So this has been Taylor Swift Week all week and
- 7:19Speaker 2: the wedding will be next.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Hey, Roger Freeman, I saw this video some of it
- 7:23Speaker 1: did of the you know, Stephen Colbert is gone, and
- 7:26Speaker 1: apparently they've cleaned out the Ed Sullivan Theater. So somebody
- 7:28Speaker 1: did a video of the whole theater. It's like almost
- 7:31Speaker 1: back to ed Sullivan. They totally cleaned out. Is there
- 7:33Speaker 1: any word on what's going to happen with the Ed
- 7:35Speaker 1: Sullivan Theater? Will CBS keep it? Rumors?
- 7:38Speaker 2: I know it, Yeah, I don't know if CBS is
- 7:41Speaker 2: going to keep it. People have suggested that it become
- 7:44Speaker 2: a Broadway theater, but it's actually not big enough to
- 7:47Speaker 2: be a Broadway theater. A Broadway theater seats a thousand
- 7:50Speaker 2: people and there's not there aren't a thousand seats in
- 7:53Speaker 2: that theater. There's no way to get them in. It
- 7:55Speaker 2: wasn't made for that, it was made for TV. It
- 7:57Speaker 2: was made for Ed Sullivan. It's only been a TV theater.
- 8:02Speaker 2: So it's unclear what they're going to do. But hopefully
- 8:05Speaker 2: they'll keep it. CBS will keep it. You know, CBS
- 8:08Speaker 2: isn't such flux right now with new owners and a
- 8:12Speaker 2: lot of contentiousness where it comes to the news side.
- 8:16Speaker 2: We're hearing about sixty minutes, losing a lot of correspondence.
- 8:20Speaker 2: There's a lot of bad stuff going on. So everything
- 8:23Speaker 2: is sort of up in the air there, and maybe
- 8:25Speaker 2: they haven't decided yet what they want to do with it.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but you could turn it back into Broadway, you know,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm sure you've been in there. That stage comes way
- 8:33Speaker 1: out into the ice. Think could cut it back to normal,
- 8:35Speaker 1: put another few hundred seats in.
- 8:37Speaker 2: They might be able to. I mean, the main thing
- 8:41Speaker 2: that everybody wants us for it to remain a theater.
- 8:43Speaker 2: So that's what we want. And we want to keep
- 8:46Speaker 2: on Solivan the name on it because obviously it's been
- 8:49Speaker 2: so important. So we'll see what happens. But hopefully it'll
- 8:55Speaker 2: stay the same. Yeah.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Hey, it says Mick Jagger will be on the Today
- 8:59Speaker 1: Show tomorrow. What is Mick Jagger running around doing the
- 9:01Speaker 1: Today Show for? Oh, Mick Jagger.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Okay. So we had the Paul McCartney album, which we've
- 9:06Speaker 2: discussed a lot, you and I, and now the Rolling
- 9:09Speaker 2: Stones are coming with their album on July sixteenth, and
- 9:13Speaker 2: Mick is starting to do the publicity for it and
- 9:16Speaker 2: I have listened to it. They actually sent me this
- 9:20Speaker 2: album pretty early and I've spent the last couple of
- 9:23Speaker 2: days listening to it and I got to tell you
- 9:25Speaker 2: it's great. And there's a song on there called mister
- 9:28Speaker 2: Charm that's definitely going to be a hit. They've already
- 9:32Speaker 2: put out two really good singles, but this one's going
- 9:35Speaker 2: to be. This one's going to be the one. And
- 9:37Speaker 2: the album is called Foreign Tongues. It's coming in like
- 9:42Speaker 2: fifteen different varieties of vinyl colors and packaging and everything
- 9:46Speaker 2: and the CD and it's really a great summer album.
- 9:51Speaker 2: It really rocks. And the production is terrific. You know
- 9:54Speaker 2: this one guy, his name is Andrew Watt. He produced
- 9:57Speaker 2: the McCartney album, He produced this Rolling Stones album and
- 10:01Speaker 2: the one from a couple of years ago called Hackney Diamonds.
- 10:04Speaker 2: He's really got a knack for producing these legacy artists
- 10:09Speaker 2: and it's really worth getting them. The McCartney album's terrific.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I kept it in my car going like crazy, and
- 10:17Speaker 2: the Stones album is totally it's a beach hit. But
- 10:20Speaker 2: that mister Charm is going to be a big one.
- 10:22Speaker 1: A beach hit the Stones. That have to be an older,
- 10:27Speaker 1: elderly Florida beach for them.
- 10:29Speaker 2: No, I don't know. If I were on, you know,
- 10:32Speaker 2: Jacob Riest Beach and I had the radio on, I'd
- 10:35Speaker 2: be listening to mister Charm. That would be fun.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but you got twenty five year olds going, who the.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Hell is that you're listening to? Yeah, yeah, I know
- 10:42Speaker 2: they want to hear Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 2: This new guy there is a new guy, by the way,
- 10:50Speaker 2: his name is Malcolm Todd. Everyone who's listening to us
- 10:55Speaker 2: is probably too old for Malcolm Todd, but he's young.
- 10:57Speaker 2: He's twenty two and he is the hot guy for
- 11:01Speaker 2: this summer. Yeah, he's going to be the pop stud,
- 11:05Speaker 2: the big he'll be bigger than Biaber this summer.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Very good guy, Malcolm Todd, remember the name to everybody.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Go read showbiz for one one dot com. Those are
- 11:13Speaker 1: just some stories. There's a lot more up there, and
- 11:15Speaker 1: there's new stories.
- 11:16Speaker 2: And go see Sting at the opera. I saw him
- 11:18Speaker 2: this week. Oh yeah, yeah, it was fabulous. The place
- 11:22Speaker 2: was packed. It was packed with celebrities. The opera is fabulous.
- 11:27Speaker 2: And it's called the Last Ship and it's at it's
- 11:29Speaker 2: just there through Sunday. It's just eight more performances or
- 11:32Speaker 2: seven more performances.
