- 1:34Speaker 3: we got sick somehow.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Listen man, it's not my fault. I told everybody I'm sick.
- 1:38Speaker 2: There's like you got you know, I got hemmed over here.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I don't think if we get sick, it'll be your fault.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Tough ship, dude, listen, I'm pulling it. I'm pulling that
- 1:53Speaker 1: flam up for my nuts.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I can't. I don't believe.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But it hangs up, It hangs up around my stern.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I can't get it up.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Getting old.
- 2:08Speaker 5: I don't have the strength you Yeah, so yeah, the
- 2:14Speaker 5: looky bucket, there's nothing that if you gave me a
- 2:16Speaker 5: looky bucket, it's a dry bucket.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Phil, Do you want to start this sober? We're good?
- 2:21Speaker 2: I think we're good.
- 2:24Speaker 3: They do have met Oh.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I was to say, what's humiliating for Randall's Randall, as
- 2:29Speaker 1: much as he's like a gun nut and everything, what
- 2:31Speaker 1: kind of gun you're making right now?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Uh?
- 2:34Speaker 6: It's a I'm converting a H K U s C
- 2:37Speaker 6: to U M P H.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah means well, I hope it's I'm gonna get out
- 2:50Speaker 2: in front of this. It's not a flintlock.
- 2:53Speaker 1: What was humiliating for Randall's Randall trying to shoot a
- 2:56Speaker 1: flint lock? You can't get used to He can't get
- 2:59Speaker 1: used to.
- 2:59Speaker 2: The fact you got wait a second, most can't.
- 3:02Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean I if you're gonna shoot a
- 3:04Speaker 6: flintlock for the first time, I highly recommend you do
- 3:07Speaker 6: it while being filmed by two people with Steve looking
- 3:10Speaker 6: over your shoulder.
- 3:12Speaker 2: It just makes it for a really nice experience.
- 3:15Speaker 4: It's hard for.
- 3:16Speaker 2: People to get over the little explosion in their face.
- 3:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I uh no, we're going.
- 3:24Speaker 7: I need you to fill out the frame because right
- 3:26Speaker 7: now Seth and called lonely over.
- 3:27Speaker 3: There are you saying? Renal wouldn't have made it as
- 3:31Speaker 3: a mountain man?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Jesus, you've been fun.
- 3:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I could see leaving that day other
- 3:40Speaker 6: than being totally humiliated. I could see how it would
- 3:43Speaker 6: be interesting to like get used to that and sort
- 3:46Speaker 6: of train that into your brain. Like if I if
- 3:49Speaker 6: I had access to one and a little bit of time,
- 3:52Speaker 6: it'd be fun to.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Get better at it. But yeah, it's it threw me
- 3:56Speaker 2: for a loop.
- 3:57Speaker 8: It's key to have your system dialed. Where as you
- 4:00Speaker 8: pull the trigger, the things going off. Yeah, you don't
- 4:04Speaker 8: want to hang fire.
- 4:05Speaker 6: The first two shots. I didn't even need to look
- 4:08Speaker 6: at the target. I said this rifle was pointing in
- 4:10Speaker 6: a completely different direction by the time it went off.
- 4:14Speaker 2: So I got some stuff to share. You guys want
- 4:17Speaker 2: to try something interesting? Sure, there's a So there's these
- 4:21Speaker 2: dudes I know I've bought.
- 4:23Speaker 1: There's these dudes I know up at uh they live
- 4:26Speaker 1: there in Cake, Alaska, and they make.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You're here sage brush dry you know that dry bag.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I have sage brush dry dry.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Bag, like a real They make a really nice rubber
- 4:40Speaker 1: eyes like it's like a submersible dry bag, like a
- 4:43Speaker 1: dry bag dry bag. Anyways, they sent me. I've bought
- 4:48Speaker 1: bags from them and they sent me. That's black seaweed
- 4:52Speaker 1: they make.
- 4:53Speaker 8: M M.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Try that. Yeah.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And this is saka salmon they make and dry bag.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You just you just eat it, yeah, right out.
- 5:02Speaker 2: It's good. It's interesting. I'm gonna get into that. You
- 5:06Speaker 2: know what we were doing that that I hadn't done
- 5:08Speaker 2: before I was fat.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Yeah, cran would get a kick out of this because
- 5:12Speaker 1: it's kind of Chinese, you know.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Cooking up the.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Just like taking the kelp, just grab kelp out of
- 5:25Speaker 1: the ocean. Were you there when we were doing this?
- 5:28Speaker 1: Seth salty, but just taking kelp out of the ocean
- 5:32Speaker 1: cutting it like noodles.
- 5:34Speaker 2: No, I wasn't there. I don't think it's the easiest
- 5:36Speaker 2: thing in the world. Dude. You take kelp out of
- 5:38Speaker 2: the blue part. No, no, the leaves, just you find
- 5:41Speaker 2: them whatever floating around.
- 5:42Speaker 1: My kids arise, dragging and boating and them I was
- 5:44Speaker 1: yelling at them about it. Just cut it into noodles
- 5:49Speaker 1: and just steam them and put butter and salt on
- 5:51Speaker 1: a damn.
- 5:52Speaker 2: That is good man. It's like you don't need to
- 5:54Speaker 2: bring any kind of vegetables up there. Do you like
- 5:58Speaker 2: that seaweed? I don't, guys, I think it's good, delicious.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Hey, I'm sorry.
- 6:05Speaker 7: I'm saying this with the most love I can. I
- 6:07Speaker 7: can muster.
- 6:10Speaker 3: You need.
- 6:12Speaker 7: Even when you think you're close to the mic, you're
- 6:14Speaker 7: never close enough to the micro. Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 9: Wow, I'm getting close and I'm chewing my.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I can feel love. It's like from a producer. I
- 6:22Speaker 2: mean like producer or producer. You know, it's a real hit.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Who's got a knife. Probably this stuff out of here.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Oh, oh, don't use that.
- 6:30Speaker 1: God knows where it's so care the good folks up.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's good, isn't it.
- 6:37Speaker 9: It's delicious and it's like kind of it's purple.
- 6:39Speaker 2: See when I retire, I used to think that you
- 6:43Speaker 2: don't like it Chili.
- 6:44Speaker 6: I feel like I'm.
- 6:48Speaker 9: Here.
- 6:49Speaker 4: It's not disgust.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It's not disgusting, but it's like ice. Think.
- 6:52Speaker 1: When I retire and move up to my shack, I
- 6:55Speaker 1: was like, all I need is like butter and gas
- 6:57Speaker 1: and vegetables.
- 6:58Speaker 2: But I don't even need vegetables, gas and butter. It
- 7:02Speaker 2: tastes like fat, like like a raw fat. Look at
- 7:07Speaker 2: what Brody's making, a salt.
- 7:11Speaker 9: Sea flavor that has like a little bit of like
- 7:15Speaker 9: bacon fat kind of.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Corey, can you come into a mic here and tell
- 7:20Speaker 2: everybody what's going on now with what your problem is?
- 7:24Speaker 2: What's your problem?
- 7:25Speaker 3: Corey?
- 7:25Speaker 10: Well, I don't think I have a problem.
- 7:28Speaker 2: You do.
- 7:28Speaker 1: You gotta have it be that now the Northern the
- 7:32Speaker 1: Northern people get beat by the Southern people at turkey calling.
- 7:35Speaker 10: Oh well, there's a lot more enthusiasm coming out of
- 7:39Speaker 10: the South, I'll tell you that much. We got a
- 7:40Speaker 10: Turkey calling contest coming and it's my job to coordinate
- 7:44Speaker 10: all these videos for this contest. And all three of
- 7:47Speaker 10: our Southern participants they were done weeks.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Ago because they get because they get excited about this
- 7:52Speaker 2: kind of stuff.
- 7:53Speaker 4: And it's already spring. Well, that's true.
- 7:55Speaker 2: I mean that's a good point too. Yeah, it's snowing
- 7:57Speaker 2: out here right now.
- 7:58Speaker 10: Yeah, you could be ice fishing if you risking it,
- 8:01Speaker 10: or skiing, but we're not turkey hunting yet.
- 8:04Speaker 1: No, no, and then how are you going to film
- 8:07Speaker 1: this contest on them?
- 8:09Speaker 2: On your phone? Are you just using Phil's camera here?
- 8:11Speaker 4: No, it's a completely pointless How long look for turkeys?
- 8:16Speaker 6: Right now?
- 8:16Speaker 2: How long can mine be? I mean, just three rounds?
- 8:20Speaker 10: Make them just fifteen seconds?
- 8:23Speaker 2: No, no, no, this is a way long. I'm only doing
- 8:25Speaker 2: one round, but you.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Got to do a little intro like here's round.
- 8:27Speaker 2: One, Okay, round two? That's not like that, though, I
- 8:32Speaker 2: can cut it up.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Okay, Cory's just trying to do his job over here,
- 8:37Speaker 1: because here here's my complain about the annual turkey calling contest.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Is my complain about the turkey calling contest? Is it
- 8:43Speaker 1: just like it's like it's set up for Southerners to win?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean?
- 8:49Speaker 1: Why don't you have a contest who can talk the most?
- 8:51Speaker 1: Like Abe Lincoln? There's something about I know, there's something
- 8:56Speaker 1: about that, yo, that like lends itself.
- 9:01Speaker 2: To turkey calling, spot and stalking.
- 9:06Speaker 1: It's like like there's like the Southerners are always super
- 9:09Speaker 1: good at turkey calling, and then you gotta have them
- 9:11Speaker 1: on the northerner guys to play against him, and he's
- 9:13Speaker 1: not gonna win the right twang.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So maybe we should have an element like they got.
- 9:18Speaker 1: There's just there's so much more. I mean, like life
- 9:21Speaker 1: in the North is just it's more complicated.
- 9:23Speaker 2: There's more going on, and you can't just sit back
- 9:26Speaker 2: and luguriate in calling turkeys.
- 9:29Speaker 3: A Southerners are born with a call in their mouth.
- 9:32Speaker 2: And they don't have to worry about any kind of
- 9:33Speaker 2: bad weather, you know what I mean, Like here, you
- 9:36Speaker 2: gotta be you gotta be on your game, man, ice.
- 9:41Speaker 6: Cold, hurricanes, tornadoes.
- 9:44Speaker 7: That doesn't count.
- 9:45Speaker 1: No, No, they call turkeys right through those hurricanes. They
- 9:51Speaker 1: just sit on their porch like calling turkeys. And we're like,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you can't go out on your porch a lot of
- 9:58Speaker 1: the times a.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Year here dangerous.
- 10:00Speaker 2: It's dangerous. You freeze to death. A barrel get you.
- 10:05Speaker 1: So there's down there, nothing to do, yeah, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and thinking about this Cory. So here's round one and
- 10:15Speaker 1: thinking about this. I want to set the mood near.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Don't be playing turkey videos in your computer right, Oh,
- 10:38Speaker 2: I need to do another thing.
- 10:42Speaker 3: One of the best movies ever.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I'm playing Civil War, you know, to set the North
- 10:50Speaker 2: South thing.
- 10:50Speaker 1: No, what I was gonna do because I can't beat
- 10:52Speaker 1: those guys do all their crazy sounds. But here's here's
- 10:54Speaker 1: I was sticking this morning. I was sitting there thinking
- 10:56Speaker 1: about this, and so I started listening to like, why
- 10:59Speaker 1: don't we compare.
- 11:00Speaker 2: To what turkey sound like? Ready?
- 11:02Speaker 1: Watch, here's a real turkey. You guys know Jay Scott,
- 11:06Speaker 1: Jase got outdoors. Okay, here, Jay Scott, here's a real turkey.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You can see the turkey in here. Okay, raspy round one. Huh,
- 11:24Speaker 1: here's a real turkey. Here's a yankee. Here's a real
- 11:36Speaker 1: turkey Yankee.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Now, if that's not phenomenal turkey calling, I don't know
- 11:56Speaker 2: what is. Are you ready? Yep? Okay's going right now,
- 12:11Speaker 2: good man.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Diaphragm select is really important. So you want to get
- 12:17Speaker 4: the one that has the least amount of coffee cup
- 12:20Speaker 4: residue and seeds and stuff, and you gotta.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Suck where's that that pack of diaphans?
- 12:29Speaker 4: I've used all three of them at once.
- 12:32Speaker 2: He just stacks them in there.
- 12:36Speaker 4: That's a gobble.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Thank you? Are you going right now, Seth? No, I'm
- 12:50Speaker 2: not part of it. You're not part of it. He'd
- 12:52Speaker 2: probably win. He should be part of it.
- 12:53Speaker 1: He might beat the Southerners, not me.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Hey, fine with that, Yeah, I need But did you
- 13:03Speaker 2: really use all those?
- 13:03Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 13:05Speaker 6: But he's he's he's healthy. I'd be worried about the
- 13:09Speaker 6: inverse of that transaction.
- 13:10Speaker 2: But shot, what do you mean, what's your best shot? Gobble?
- 13:16Speaker 2: Everybody else down south is doing? Oh I didn't, I haven't.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I didn't know that's what we're doing.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Do your blue jay crow call?
- 13:24Speaker 2: I wish I had it with me. If I had
- 13:25Speaker 2: it with me, Well, no, no, no, no, that's not my
- 13:29Speaker 2: that's not.
- 13:29Speaker 1: My blue jay call. I don't have it with me.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I didn't know that that's what I needed.
- 13:37Speaker 3: He can't see. Let's cough.
- 13:41Speaker 4: That would be good of you got a car door
- 13:43Speaker 4: you could slam, you should.
- 13:44Speaker 8: Cough the parking lot. What's that she got in the
- 13:47Speaker 8: parking lot and slammed the car door. Or we'll go
- 13:49Speaker 8: like this, or just going.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Here, we'll try this other that might make him goble.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I don't know, try how Oh like, no, I can't
- 14:12Speaker 2: do that? Are rolling?
- 14:13Speaker 3: This is so clear? Make clear? And a loogie might make.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Would be uh there you go? Hm where are we now?
- 14:36Speaker 2: You've got oh, I can't do a gobble? Hold on?
- 14:41Speaker 2: That was great? Yeah as Robert, I like holl Robert
- 14:44Speaker 2: Abernathey does he goes break like? Hold on you're gonna?
- 15:02Speaker 2: Was that good? Huh?
- 15:05Speaker 9: Whoa?
- 15:08Speaker 4: Wow?
- 15:10Speaker 2: You do one? So just wow, Brandon, why do you
- 15:18Speaker 2: hate turkeys? Man? I don't hate him, I just uh,
- 15:21Speaker 2: hold on you hate them? Yeah?
- 15:23Speaker 9: Okay, I think again.
- 15:27Speaker 7: Please, I'd like to ask everyone to direct their attention
- 15:30Speaker 7: to the television if if you would mind just for
- 15:33Speaker 7: a second year.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there he is the real deal.
- 15:47Speaker 9: The face says it all. So Corey filmed. This is
- 15:52Speaker 9: from Meat Eater Radio Live a couple of months ago
- 15:55Speaker 9: when Connor Smith, who works at our store, who's Alissa
- 15:59Speaker 9: Smith's son, is well, brought in his pet turkey broke
- 16:02Speaker 9: in and you had a comment about him. You were like,
- 16:07Speaker 9: he's got hollow bones, He's nothing like me.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 7: For the audio listeners, ran that was a clip from
- 16:14Speaker 7: an old Radio Light episode when we brought in the
- 16:15Speaker 7: turkey and Randall was staring into its eyes like he
- 16:18Speaker 7: was he was looking at the devil himself.
- 16:20Speaker 6: We just don't have anything in common.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Why, yeah, why do you feel that you won't hunt turkeys? Randall?
- 16:25Speaker 1: Oh, I'd love to hunt turkeys. Oh okay, Uh, how
- 16:29Speaker 1: have you not gotten around to it? Because you're a
- 16:31Speaker 1: spring bear hunter.
- 16:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I like to save up my time for spring
- 16:35Speaker 6: bear and uh yeah, I don't know.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I just never really figured it out.
- 16:41Speaker 3: You ever see a turkey walking around when you're spring
- 16:43Speaker 3: bear hunting?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yep?
- 16:44Speaker 6: And I've run after him. I've chased I've traced a
- 16:46Speaker 6: couple of turkeys up a hill when they cross the road,
- 16:49Speaker 6: but trying to.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Shoot at him.
- 16:51Speaker 6: The idea, that's general idea both him. Yeah, No, I
- 16:55Speaker 6: just haven't haven't taken that step yet. Okay, maybe if
- 16:59Speaker 6: you got me out there so you'd go, you would go.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'd love to.
- 17:04Speaker 6: I'd love to have a little turkey hunt. Put a
- 17:07Speaker 6: turkey in the freezer. I like eating cows turkeys.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's about It's the greatest thing in the world. Man.
- 17:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm eager to eager to feel that joy for myself.
- 17:18Speaker 2: One day, but he didn't.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Never want to hunt bears again.
- 17:22Speaker 2: That's what I found.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I found that over the years, over the years, my
- 17:29Speaker 1: spring bear enthusiasms declined.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Uh in favorite turkeys, I could see that.
- 17:37Speaker 1: You know, the thing about turkey hunting you can picture too,
- 17:39Speaker 1: is you can picture that you'd be a hunting turkey's like.
- 17:43Speaker 2: As an old ass man. Mm hmm.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I was telling my wife. I was like, after we retire.
- 17:54Speaker 1: I was like, listen, I'll make a deal with you.
- 17:56Speaker 1: We'll spend half the time, half the time doing just
- 18:02Speaker 1: what you want to do, half the time doing just
- 18:07Speaker 1: what I want to do, fifty to fifty split and
- 18:10Speaker 1: when we're visiting our kids, that won't count against either
- 18:13Speaker 1: of our time.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And she still won't accept the deal. How does she
- 18:19Speaker 2: want to split it?
- 18:19Speaker 1: Because she knows that my time is turkey hunting. She's like,
- 18:23Speaker 1: now I'm not taking that deal. I'm like, why in
- 18:25Speaker 1: the world will someone not take that deal? What's a
- 18:27Speaker 1: better deal than that? Yeah, like a picture that half
- 18:32Speaker 1: the time you can do whatever you want to do,
- 18:35Speaker 1: and I won't say.
- 18:35Speaker 6: Shit, I'd take that right now.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I'd be like, oh, yeah, that sounds fun. That's what
- 18:40Speaker 2: i'd say, just what do you think a great time?
- 18:44Speaker 6: What would you be doing on her on her days?
- 18:47Speaker 2: I don't know, probably a variety of things, variety of things.
- 18:54Speaker 1: She won't take it because I want to have a
- 18:57Speaker 1: camper and we're going to live in the camper and
- 18:59Speaker 1: we're going to start in March in Florida, and then
- 19:03Speaker 1: we're gonna every year, we're gonna head north and we'll
- 19:06Speaker 1: swing to the northeast, we'll swing west, we'll swing whatever,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and it'll just be like on repeat every year. We'll
- 19:14Speaker 1: go to laundromats and do our clothes.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Eat turkey every night, eat turkey.
- 19:18Speaker 1: We'll go to like internet cafes and email our kids.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And that's how we're gonna spend our.
- 19:27Speaker 4: You'll have the deep fat friar on a trailer behind.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It up south. Your headed out turkey hunting. Yeah, Monday,
- 19:37Speaker 2: heading to Florida. Tell me about where about that?
- 19:40Speaker 8: So we're going to a guys, we're having some private
- 19:43Speaker 8: down there. We're going to a guy that he he
- 19:47Speaker 8: has bought artwork for my wife Kelsey in the past,
- 19:50Speaker 8: and he's been inviting us to go down there and
- 19:54Speaker 8: on turkeys for like the last few years and this year,
- 19:58Speaker 8: we decided to go, you know, take them up on
- 20:02Speaker 8: the offer, but kind of in some brainstorm into trying
- 20:08Speaker 8: to collect some assets around this new Turkey best first,
- 20:12Speaker 8: like decided to film the deal.
- 20:14Speaker 2: So you can let your wife have first shot. Yeah,
- 20:17Speaker 2: I always do.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Are south of the Ossio line north.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I was wrong about. It's pretty high.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like I used to somehow have in my head,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and I think I've misled people on this is a
- 20:35Speaker 1: I used to goes like the north end of Oakachobee south,
- 20:40Speaker 1: but it's it's everything except the Panhandle and those counties
- 20:45Speaker 1: that are up against Georgia and Alabama.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I thought it was like the southern half
- 20:50Speaker 3: of No.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Man, it's like you go like one or two counties
- 20:53Speaker 1: deep out of the panhandles easterns and then you go
- 20:57Speaker 1: like one or two counties down deep out of George
- 21:00Speaker 1: and Alabama and it's all Ossiola's south of Gainesville. Maybe
- 21:06Speaker 1: that might be a good way of putting it, but
- 21:08Speaker 1: it's not a perfect line. But yeah, basically, you know,
- 21:13Speaker 1: like once you're down in the peninsula, it's Osciola turkeys
- 21:18Speaker 1: at the.
- 21:19Speaker 2: End of the show. So we're doing the We're doing
- 21:20Speaker 2: Jordan's Peace.
- 21:22Speaker 9: Krinn, Yeah, we are. It's out on this feed Tuesday,
- 21:27Speaker 9: March twenty fifth.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Oh it's not just tacked down to this nope. Oh okay.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So Jordan Sillers, who joins us now and then on
- 21:37Speaker 1: the podcast here and writes for the website, He's got
- 21:40Speaker 1: a tomorrow I guess if you're listening on the day
- 21:44Speaker 1: this comes out tomorrow, Jordan has this crazy story.
- 21:48Speaker 2: He's been reporting on.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It'll be like a special drop podcast episode about a
- 21:54Speaker 1: uh true crime, Yeah, about a murder or not. It's
- 22:00Speaker 1: a wild story a turkey hunter in Virginia. This is
- 22:05Speaker 1: a twenty year old cold case turkey hunter in Virginia,
- 22:11Speaker 1: shot in the back at daybreak turkey hunting. And you wonder, like, well,
- 22:19Speaker 1: how many people could have been in the woods that day.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I don't want to give too much away, but was
- 22:23Speaker 3: he shot with a shotgun?
- 22:25Speaker 1: Nope, shot with a rifle. But you can hunt rifles.
- 22:28Speaker 1: You could hunt turkeys with a rifle.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Okay, gotcha.
- 22:32Speaker 2: His shot in the back lodged into his heart, wasn't it.
- 22:38Speaker 9: Yes?
- 22:38Speaker 1: I think the bullet was lodged into his heart. But
- 22:40Speaker 1: his face mask was lifted up. H yeah, So did
- 22:47Speaker 1: he lift it up? Did someone lift it up? Did
- 22:50Speaker 1: someone walk over? And you get into like, well, how
- 22:53Speaker 1: many people could have been in the woods that day?
- 22:56Speaker 1: How could you not find who was in the woods
- 22:58Speaker 1: that day?
- 23:01Speaker 2: Wow? Like a small ass pool of people. Do you
- 23:05Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? In this little Turkey hunting area,
- 23:08Speaker 2: they've never made an arrest. Hmm.
- 23:12Speaker 9: Yeah, it's real, real interesting. Jordan didn't some great work
- 23:16Speaker 9: on it, lots of interviews.
- 23:19Speaker 1: It's gotta be. I know you haven't listened to it yet,
- 23:22Speaker 1: but it's got to be. It's gotta be that it
- 23:24Speaker 1: was a he was messing with as decoy. He was
- 23:27Speaker 1: sitting there with decoys. He's sitting there dead on a
- 23:29Speaker 1: tree as decoys.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Are out in front of him. Hmm. A cigarette on.
- 23:33Speaker 4: The ground, But it wasn't the No one collected the
- 23:36Speaker 4: cigarette and it was Why don't you go ahead and
- 23:38Speaker 4: give Jordan's podcast?
- 23:42Speaker 6: Let us know what you think?
- 23:47Speaker 4: Easy to get hold of, love to hear about it.
- 23:51Speaker 1: But I don't think that what I'm saying is going
- 23:53Speaker 1: to make people not go listen. I feel like I'm
- 23:55Speaker 1: titillating over here.
- 23:56Speaker 6: I'm hooked.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Do you think it's like, are you like, well not,
- 24:00Speaker 2: I'm not even gonna bother listening now.
- 24:02Speaker 6: No, No, I need to find all the I need
- 24:05Speaker 6: to know all the details.
- 24:06Speaker 4: This day and age. It's just like you go, okay,
- 24:10Speaker 4: how many cell phones were in this area right now?
- 24:13Speaker 4: We're gonna start there.
- 24:15Speaker 2: It'd probably be a great place to start.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Right yeah, call on X be like, how many folks
- 24:22Speaker 4: were right here?
- 24:24Speaker 2: Yeah? There was.
- 24:25Speaker 1: We talked about this long ago because we were actually
- 24:28Speaker 1: gonna when we started doing the Close Calls series. We
- 24:32Speaker 1: tried to track this guy down, but the we tried
- 24:36Speaker 1: to track down a victim of an accidental shooting in
- 24:39Speaker 1: a hunting incident, but he had died of cancer, even
- 24:43Speaker 1: though he almost died on the mountain one time hunting.
- 24:45Speaker 2: But this guy was hunting an Arizona for black bears.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Do you remember the story now.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he's stocking a black bear with his bow and
- 24:58Speaker 1: he's right above the black bear, and all of a sudden,
- 25:01Speaker 1: someone from across the canyon shoots at the black bear
- 25:05Speaker 1: with a rifle.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Okay, so it's either weapon season.
- 25:08Speaker 1: He's stalking it with a bow and someone across the
- 25:10Speaker 1: canyon shoots at the bear. The shot misses the bear
- 25:14Speaker 1: and spooks the bear, and the bear spooks.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Right up through him, right up past him.
- 25:20Speaker 1: The guy shoots at it again and hits the dude
- 25:23Speaker 1: in the gut. Jesus bear runs off. The guy lays
- 25:31Speaker 1: there and the shooter never comes over. He gets up
- 25:36Speaker 1: to the top of the mountain, makes a call, starts
- 25:38Speaker 1: trying to drive down, passes out, but they find him
- 25:41Speaker 1: and save him. The bullet had mostly got absorbed like that,
- 25:46Speaker 1: got absorbed by his belt buckle, but last rated. His
- 25:51Speaker 1: insides all up, but he lives. So they're trying to
- 25:55Speaker 1: find out who did it. And what they start doing
- 25:57Speaker 1: is they the investigator send out surveys to people that
- 26:03Speaker 1: had bear tags in that unit, where'd you hunt?
- 26:06Speaker 2: What days did you hunt?
- 26:09Speaker 1: And then did a follow up survey, and eventually they
- 26:12Speaker 1: had like, oh, this guy was hunting bears that day
- 26:16Speaker 1: in this area and he was out of state, and
- 26:19Speaker 1: they sent investigators to the guy's house and when they
- 26:22Speaker 1: explained him what happened, they, I guess, according to the
- 26:25Speaker 1: story I heard, they knew he was innocent because when
- 26:29Speaker 1: they explained him what happened, he vomited like he was
- 26:31Speaker 1: that upset about it.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Wow, had Archie Hunter is all camoed up and he
- 26:36Speaker 3: just never saw him or something.
- 26:38Speaker 2: It seems the scenes weird.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Going to do a thing about it, But like I said,
- 26:41Speaker 1: the primary guy had passed away young, like died young.
- 26:47Speaker 4: So kids, go listen to Jordan's thing, follow up on.
- 26:50Speaker 6: Your shots and wear orange.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Oh, don't just take pokes a stuff and go, oh,
- 26:58Speaker 4: doesn't look like I hit it. Walk over there, look
- 27:01Speaker 4: for blood. Follow up and if it seems like too
- 27:04Speaker 4: much of a pain in the ass, chances are you're
- 27:06Speaker 4: shooting too far.
- 27:08Speaker 2: And if you get over there and there's a dead
- 27:09Speaker 2: person laying there, make a.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Call, make a call.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Call nine one. Yeah, that's what I think. I don't know.
- 27:19Speaker 2: When you guys listen, you'll know what to think. Jordan,
- 27:24Speaker 2: I question this decision. Maybe Quinny can shed light on it.
- 27:27Speaker 2: He he redacts a lot of names.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Why is he redacting all the names? Did that come
- 27:38Speaker 1: at the recommendation of legal counsel.
- 27:40Speaker 9: I'm not sure I could check with him. I don't know.
- 27:45Speaker 9: You mean, like other names of people who are investigated.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Like the of the characters kind of surrounding the incident,
- 27:52Speaker 1: he redacts their names.
- 27:54Speaker 9: I didn't go into that with him.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Maybe because it's not being solved.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I don't know, could be.
- 28:00Speaker 9: Sorry, I'm not being very helpful.
- 28:01Speaker 2: No you're not. What's it called what will it be called?
- 28:06Speaker 9: Called blood trails? Yeah, it's called blood trails.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Blood trails. So check that out. Twenty year old turkey
- 28:13Speaker 2: hunting cold case, which Giles seems like could be real solvable.
- 28:19Speaker 9: Yeah, and it's just question mark.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Well I don't want it until our listeners here out. Yes, yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 4: then one of you may know exactly who it is.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Check this out the first time.
- 28:37Speaker 1: So this year I put a thing on Instagram where
- 28:43Speaker 1: some guys I know, some houndsmen I know who are
- 28:48Speaker 1: commercial fishermen and Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but in the wintertime
- 28:51Speaker 1: they like to chase bobcats with dogs and this body
- 28:57Speaker 1: mind sends me a video from Mackinac County in Michigan's
- 29:01Speaker 1: Upper Peninsula of a lion, a mountain lion in a
- 29:04Speaker 1: try in Michigan. After that, the dn R Department Natural Resources.
- 29:11Speaker 1: They went out and verified like they wanted to see
- 29:14Speaker 1: where it was and what happened, and they went out
- 29:16Speaker 1: and verified it right that it was legit, legit location tracks,
- 29:20Speaker 1: everything made sense, and there's a lion there. And this
- 29:23Speaker 1: is something that people have long been saying that there
- 29:27Speaker 1: are lions in the up like how people are saying
- 29:30Speaker 1: there's lions all over the place.
- 29:32Speaker 2: And for the.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Longest time, twenty years ago, you had guys way outside
- 29:36Speaker 1: of mountain lion territory, way outside of cougar territory would
- 29:41Speaker 1: be like, oh, I saw a mountain lion.
- 29:42Speaker 2: And it was always the same thing.
- 29:43Speaker 1: It was, no, you didn't you saw an escape pet
- 29:49Speaker 1: right like this idea, that's just like escape mountain lion
- 29:51Speaker 1: pets running all over the place. You never see like
- 29:54Speaker 1: actual pet mountain lions, but somehow.
- 29:56Speaker 2: There are many.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Like you never like at your he's like, here's my
- 30:00Speaker 1: pet mountain line, But somehow there are hundreds of escape
- 30:04Speaker 1: pets even though no one has like the actual pet
- 30:08Speaker 1: mountain lion. Like there's a lot of dogs running around
- 30:09Speaker 1: the woods. There's a lot of dogs in people's houses,
- 30:12Speaker 1: So it all makes sense.
- 30:13Speaker 6: Mountain you gotta just be better at escaping.
- 30:15Speaker 2: You got pet dogs and then you got feral dogs.
- 30:17Speaker 1: But somehow it's just all faral lions when there's no
- 30:20Speaker 1: pet lions, but they're all escape pets. Long story short,
- 30:26Speaker 1: first confirmation in one hundred years in the up in Michigan.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Two mountain lion kittens in a hundred years verified.
- 30:36Speaker 9: Verified, but they haven't been seen. Yeah, verified?
- 30:41Speaker 4: But then what was it they haven't yet been hit
- 30:44Speaker 4: by a car?
- 30:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I was gonna say, yeah, is.
- 30:47Speaker 3: That the video of them on little ones on the
- 30:49Speaker 3: side of the road.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, it's it's like it's unbelievable.
- 30:53Speaker 1: So probably like a while ago, one got killed in Connecticut,
- 30:59Speaker 1: one showed up in Menace, and a lot of times
- 31:01Speaker 1: this is lions coming out of lions coming out of
- 31:05Speaker 1: the Black Hills, coming out of western Nebraska.
- 31:09Speaker 2: And if you look at it, if you go get.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Yourself a map, you can see how that sucker, how
- 31:15Speaker 1: they're going. You could picture how they're going because they're
- 31:18Speaker 1: showing up at Michigan's Upper Peninsula. So they're going like
- 31:22Speaker 1: from the Black Hills across ended Wiscon northern Wisconsin and
- 31:27Speaker 1: then traveling. And this one that I had the video
- 31:31Speaker 1: of was in the eastern up, so traveling across the
- 31:35Speaker 1: top of the up probably like flirting up with Ontario, whatever,
- 31:38Speaker 1: going across, and it would always be the story is
- 31:41Speaker 1: like juvenile males will strike out and colonize new territory
- 31:47Speaker 1: or they'll want their own territory, and so they'll go
- 31:49Speaker 1: and presumably they go off in these weird ass places
- 31:52Speaker 1: and never find a mate, and.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Then they kind of have like they're like a genetic
- 31:58Speaker 2: dead end.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Right, So when you find these way out there lions
- 32:03Speaker 1: that are way out of territory, there's this thing that like, oh,
- 32:06Speaker 1: it's probably an escape pet. And then if it's not that, like, oh,
- 32:10Speaker 1: it's some crazy juvenile male that wandered way outside of
- 32:14Speaker 1: its range, but obviously a female went And then you
- 32:19Speaker 1: gotta think and that low density, how like how phenomenal
- 32:22Speaker 1: must they be at finding each other?
- 32:23Speaker 3: Maybe that like I mean that female might have been
- 32:27Speaker 3: impregnated in Michigan.
- 32:29Speaker 2: It's like she.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Didn't, Like no, I'm sure I would imagine, Yeah, But
- 32:35Speaker 1: then like, regardless of how low density, like, how do
- 32:41Speaker 1: they find each other?
- 32:45Speaker 2: Well?
- 32:45Speaker 4: Yeah, man, I mean it's like you can get dropped
- 32:47Speaker 4: off in the biggest wilderness ever, right, and be like, oh,
- 32:52Speaker 4: here's a good way to go find game, and you
- 32:54Speaker 4: strike out on that trail and you can find a
- 32:57Speaker 4: boot track of somebody else who did the same thing, Right,
- 32:59Speaker 4: because it's just like how predators move.
- 33:02Speaker 2: You get about the ridge side like ship. Yeah, a
- 33:05Speaker 2: cigarette button, a couple of thirty.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Six anybody else think of this.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Right where I was, right where I was gonna walk. Yeah, Yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 1: it's incredible to think about. But now they're there, I
- 33:19Speaker 1: bet there's a lot of guys that are pissed. There's
- 33:22Speaker 1: a lot of guys that are pissed because you already.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Have extreme load deer densities.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Yeah, lower deer densities, got a lot of wolf problems.
- 33:32Speaker 3: How would they like, how would they be classified? Like
- 33:36Speaker 3: if they if a breeding population like gets going in Michigan,
- 33:41Speaker 3: how are they going to classify.
- 33:42Speaker 2: That's a great question. I don't know what they e
- 33:44Speaker 2: condom as.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Yeah, just be a non non game species right now.
- 33:47Speaker 4: But I'm sure they did try to put some sort
- 33:50Speaker 4: of protect protection on them or or not right, or
- 33:54Speaker 4: they make the decision that this is just not something
- 33:56Speaker 4: we're going to deal with.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Yeah, because man, I don't think you look up try
- 34:00Speaker 1: someone tried to find it.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I'm guessing you can't just shoot a line in Michigan
- 34:04Speaker 2: right now.
- 34:05Speaker 4: I probably under the self defense and defensive property rule,
- 34:12Speaker 4: you could, Oh, if it was messing up or messing
- 34:15Speaker 4: up your killing your chicken.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean like if you were out running
- 34:20Speaker 1: bobcasts and you treat a lion, my guess is you
- 34:22Speaker 1: can't shoot it because how are you looking up what
- 34:24Speaker 1: the season is? Well, if it's not listed as anything,
- 34:29Speaker 1: does that mean we'll find out?
- 34:31Speaker 4: Because if right? Because like State of Wyoming, like they
- 34:35Speaker 4: have a they have game species, and then they have
- 34:38Speaker 4: vermints that can shot year round without restrictions.
- 34:41Speaker 3: They classify they're classified as an endangered species. Shooting them.
- 34:47Speaker 3: That's probably like a state endangered.
- 34:49Speaker 9: Species, not endangered mammals in Michigan, meaning it's illegal to
- 34:54Speaker 9: hunt or harass them, which includes trying to locate their den.
- 34:59Speaker 1: My man aways had a good story. Uh you know
- 35:02Speaker 1: what a fallow deer is. So my dad had a
- 35:04Speaker 1: spot he was hunting. This was an Illinois. He had
- 35:08Speaker 1: a spot he was hunting, and there was a big.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Arboretum near there, and they had all these like fallow
- 35:13Speaker 2: deer sort of as a decoratione on this arbretomy.
- 35:17Speaker 9: Aren't those from overseas.
- 35:19Speaker 1: They're a Eurasian deer like kind of white and some
- 35:24Speaker 1: of this some of the fallow deer had gotten off
- 35:28Speaker 1: the arboretum and we're just running around, and so my
- 35:31Speaker 1: dad was calling be like can I shoot one of
- 35:34Speaker 1: these deer or not? And at the time, like what
- 35:38Speaker 1: they had Illinois had like a wild deer.
- 35:41Speaker 2: They had a deer. So even in your in your
- 35:44Speaker 2: rags didn't say like white tailed deer, because like, you
- 35:48Speaker 2: know what, what are you not trying to draw this?
- 35:50Speaker 2: It was just a deer. And so he called and
- 35:53Speaker 2: the best answer they would give him is like it
- 35:55Speaker 2: says a deer if it's a deer. So he always
- 36:02Speaker 2: had this picture of as I should find. He had
- 36:05Speaker 2: this great grip and grand where he's got his re
- 36:07Speaker 2: curve and he's got a fallow deer. It was you
- 36:12Speaker 2: know what he used to hunt?
- 36:13Speaker 9: Man?
- 36:14Speaker 1: It was funny is and it's a good idea. He
- 36:17Speaker 1: used to have a spot he'd hunt where he'd get
- 36:19Speaker 1: on a highway and at some point he'd pulled off
- 36:23Speaker 1: at a rest area and got the walking around the
- 36:25Speaker 1: rest area and saw a bunch of deer Signsuse it
- 36:28Speaker 1: was like he showed.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Me it was not too far from where I grew up.
- 36:31Speaker 1: There's a rest area and it's all just like State
- 36:34Speaker 1: Land area on the highway and then there was cornfields
- 36:39Speaker 1: up above there, and he would get off at the
- 36:42Speaker 1: rest area and park kind of like he was at
- 36:44Speaker 1: the rest area, wait till the coast was clear, and
- 36:46Speaker 1: then slip up in the woods instead of tree stand
- 36:48Speaker 1: at the rest area and then get back on the
- 36:49Speaker 1: highway and go down to the next exit.
- 36:51Speaker 2: And sneaky little spot, sneak.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I see a lot of rest areas, and I wonder
- 36:56Speaker 1: about that. Okay, Seth, you're going hunting.
- 37:01Speaker 2: We're talking about that. Randall hates turkeys. Talk about that
- 37:06Speaker 2: tick prevention. I got it. My program is dialed? Wrote
- 37:13Speaker 2: who wrote?
- 37:14Speaker 4: I threw that in there?
- 37:15Speaker 2: What do you do? You do you feel your program
- 37:17Speaker 2: is dialed?
- 37:17Speaker 4: No, not at all. It's something I don't think about.
- 37:20Speaker 4: And tell him on the ground and then I'm like,
- 37:22Speaker 4: oh man, this is I'm gonna be creeping and crawling.
- 37:26Speaker 4: But I'm all so I don't Yeah, I don't know
- 37:28Speaker 4: all the normal things. Don't like deep. I'm always like, oh,
- 37:31Speaker 4: I'm gonna get that permethron stuff and that stuff works.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I take the heavy chemical approach, and I'll tell you.
- 37:39Speaker 1: I'll tell you a little bit about my background.
- 37:41Speaker 9: Don't Inhale that when you breathe it all I mean,
- 37:43Speaker 9: when you spray it all over your Let.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Me tell you though, I had okay, when my boy
- 37:50Speaker 1: was three, talk about all the time. When my boy
- 37:52Speaker 1: was three, he had lime disease, developed Bell's palsy, so
- 37:56Speaker 1: he developed the facial paralysis. A lot of had a
- 37:58Speaker 1: lot of problems. I had lime disease and had to
- 38:04Speaker 1: go through the intravenous antibiotic treatment where they put the
- 38:08Speaker 1: pick line in your heart and a fucking hose coming
- 38:11Speaker 1: out of your arm shooting those cylinders. All that shitting
- 38:14Speaker 1: there every day had to be where couldn't ride my bike.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Had drawn a mountain goat tag and couldn't even hunt
- 38:20Speaker 1: the tag. I couldn't go down steps without holding the
- 38:23Speaker 1: handrail driving down the road.
- 38:25Speaker 2: It messes with your joints so bad.
- 38:27Speaker 1: I couldn't rest on the windowsill, I couldn't rest on
- 38:30Speaker 1: the center console.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Because it was like just too like excruciating. Okay, So.
- 38:38Speaker 1: All that what I'm setting up there is like the
- 38:41Speaker 1: risk of using some chemical stuff isn't as real to
- 38:46Speaker 1: me as is the risk of getting tickborne pathogenstable.
- 38:51Speaker 4: It's not, oddly enough, It's the way I take care
- 38:55Speaker 4: of things and like a big old, deep filled canister
- 38:59Speaker 4: that erodes through everything once deployed. Like that's my problem
- 39:04Speaker 4: is like it rattles around in the back of the truck. Eventually,
- 39:06Speaker 4: like the cap goes off and it sprays all over everything,
- 39:09Speaker 4: and then you got holes in clothing or a whole
- 39:12Speaker 4: spool of fishing lines. I've had tackle boxes over the
- 39:17Speaker 4: years that have turned into measure.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I had it warped. I had one open up on
- 39:22Speaker 2: a caribou hunt, and I had one open up on
- 39:24Speaker 2: my phone and actually warped my phone case, like the
- 39:28Speaker 2: phone case warped.
- 39:29Speaker 3: So you're not buying the permethrone.
- 39:31Speaker 2: No, I haven't gotten to my formula yet.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Oh you're going double formula.
- 39:35Speaker 2: I do, and it takes. It takes. It takes discipline.
- 39:39Speaker 4: You do take Wood's off.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I do permethrine on my clothes, and I do it
- 39:43Speaker 1: like you're supposed to do it. I do it ahead
- 39:44Speaker 1: of time, like you you know, Like I said, it
- 39:48Speaker 1: takes discipline, do it ahead of time and let it dry. Okay,
- 39:51Speaker 1: so I'm not wearing a shit wet and that's how
- 39:53Speaker 1: they recommend it. So I do all my clothes and permethrone.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Then every morning. This is the painful part. This is
- 39:59Speaker 1: the part you don't want to do because it's just
- 40:01Speaker 1: it's annoying. Every morning, I do my ankles and deep,
- 40:07Speaker 1: I do my waistline because of chigger to hate chiggers.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I do my waistline and deep on on your skin,
- 40:13Speaker 1: on my skin.
- 40:14Speaker 4: WHOA, all right?
- 40:16Speaker 2: I do deep. I plaster my waistline.
- 40:19Speaker 1: I plaster my ankles and deep, and I got permethrone
- 40:21Speaker 1: on my clothes. And I'm telling you and I am
- 40:23Speaker 1: a tick chigger magnet. I have shut that ship down. Wow,
- 40:27Speaker 1: shut it down.
- 40:29Speaker 7: Yeah, hot tip.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Me and Seth did a bunch of permethrone one time.
- 40:32Speaker 2: We were watching ticks climb on us and Music Festival.
- 40:39Speaker 3: When when Sam and I were in Pennsylvania last fall
- 40:43Speaker 3: woodcock hunting like our buddy's dog had hundreds of deer
- 40:49Speaker 3: ticks on it like every day, and we were using
- 40:52Speaker 3: I was using permethrone and it works.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 40:56Speaker 8: That's that's an area where when they do tick studies
- 40:59Speaker 8: they typically come back positive.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh yeah. When I got it, I got it.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Hudson Valley and I think at the time they were
- 41:06Speaker 1: saying that three quarters of all ticks had the pathogen
- 41:09Speaker 1: they found.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I just read they found uh tick in Montana that
- 41:13Speaker 3: they believe headlines.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I really don't what kind of tick I had had
- 41:19Speaker 2: to be a deer tick.
- 41:21Speaker 4: I'll have to stuff they give dogs that always creeps
- 41:25Speaker 4: me out. Dogs seem to be totally fine, but the
- 41:27Speaker 4: tick yeah, goes up, bites into the dog and then
- 41:31Speaker 4: dies and drops off the dog to me and Seth's close,
- 41:35Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, what's the human version of that?
- 41:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I've thought about that. I mean, if someone could
- 41:40Speaker 6: invent that from mosquitoes?
- 41:43Speaker 2: Rich Man. Yeah, chili, how you doing? You're just sitting
- 41:47Speaker 2: down there? Yeah, I'm just yeah. People are talking. Are
- 41:50Speaker 2: you gonna turn your chili? I plan on it. Yeah.
- 41:54Speaker 11: I want to go back home, back to the hills
- 41:56Speaker 11: and try to get a tagger. I think my brother
- 42:00Speaker 11: applied it, so if he gets one, I'll probably go
- 42:01Speaker 11: back with him.
- 42:03Speaker 2: That's where I'd like to go.
- 42:05Speaker 4: What what what's your program? Not not for ticks, but
- 42:09Speaker 4: just for those flowing locks you're developing. Is is it
- 42:12Speaker 4: like a standalone conditioner shampoo.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Made and tail baby horse shampoo? Yeah?
- 42:18Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you don't even need water with that?
- 42:20Speaker 2: Well you don't?
- 42:21Speaker 4: You just throw it on there, murder on outside.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Let it dry.
- 42:26Speaker 1: He's the only guy if I if you had to
- 42:28Speaker 1: get a permit to have long hair, He's the only
- 42:29Speaker 1: bad issue the permit.
- 42:32Speaker 2: I think I've told a few people this story.
- 42:34Speaker 11: I cut my hair, I think once since working here,
- 42:37Speaker 11: and I cut it like I trimmed up the mustache,
- 42:40Speaker 11: cut the hairy real short.
- 42:44Speaker 2: And uh.
- 42:45Speaker 11: I went to the store and Steve was sitting on
- 42:47Speaker 11: the couch in the store and he's working on his laptop,
- 42:50Speaker 11: and he just slowly turns to me, looks at me
- 42:54Speaker 11: and goes, it's a bad move, dude.
- 43:00Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, I guess I've never come to.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Harry Jili needs to look free. So that's oh.
- 43:05Speaker 1: You know, I was gonna bring our ticks when we
- 43:07Speaker 1: were watching I don't know if you remember this, Seth,
- 43:08Speaker 1: me and Seth are sitting watching ticks crawling our clothes
- 43:11Speaker 1: and fall off like they'd pass out.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and then we're sitting there.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Here comes to have Alina. Do you remember this? Here
- 43:18Speaker 1: comes to have Alina walking along. Guess what the have
- 43:20Speaker 1: Aalena's feeding on I'm not kidding you, man, he is
- 43:24Speaker 1: feeding on turkey shit.
- 43:27Speaker 4: Just one ship one shit after the other.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Just we're just sitting there, real store.
- 43:31Speaker 1: He just comes along and every time he'd find one
- 43:33Speaker 1: of the little turkey ship, he'd stop and pick it up.
- 43:35Speaker 2: And he was like targeting turkey ships.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Smacking his cheeks together.
- 43:39Speaker 2: I have a video of it. It's pretty smacking his
- 43:42Speaker 2: lips eating turkey shit.
- 43:44Speaker 9: La. That was in Texas. You guys are going back
- 43:48Speaker 9: we are week or week after right?
- 43:52Speaker 2: Okay? Who knows about the South Carolina turkey deal? What
- 43:54Speaker 2: is this? Now?
- 43:55Speaker 4: I talked with some folks on this one last week,
- 44:01Speaker 4: actual you know, biologists in that state.
- 44:08Speaker 2: No, man, I'm looking now. I didn't know about this.
- 44:11Speaker 4: Well, but here here's the weird thing. Okay, So this
- 44:18Speaker 4: would change the regulations or it already has changed the
- 44:21Speaker 4: regulations for the twenty twenty five season to where it
- 44:24Speaker 4: would no longer be legal to shoot Jake's immature Tom's.
- 44:29Speaker 2: It's cut back on my turkey harvest.
- 44:32Speaker 4: So that puts the onus on the hunter to identify
- 44:35Speaker 4: a wow Tom that has a beard longer than six
- 44:40Speaker 4: inches and a full tail fan.
- 44:42Speaker 3: So it's the combination, right, because a lot of full
- 44:45Speaker 3: on gobblers don't have a six inch beard.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, and so you're like, well, why would you
- 44:53Speaker 4: take that opportunity away from people? Which was my question.
- 44:56Speaker 4: But and this is the frustrating part is it's like
- 45:02Speaker 4: because your brain kind of goes to like, well, is
- 45:05Speaker 4: it like a trophy thing, like trying to make make
- 45:08Speaker 4: bigger birds, which makes no sense in like the.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Longbeards, it is the time of the year.
- 45:16Speaker 4: They're not changing the season of their turkey hunt. What
- 45:20Speaker 4: they're trying to do by adding this regulation is to
- 45:25Speaker 4: provide more time for those birds to breed. Hmmm, who
- 45:30Speaker 4: to breed for the for By making people select for
- 45:36Speaker 4: the toms and pass up these other birds, they're allowing
- 45:39Speaker 4: more time for breeding, which to which I responded was like, well,
- 45:43Speaker 4: why don't you just adjust the whole season dates?
- 45:46Speaker 1: Well, I remember Abernathy talking about this, or there's in
- 45:49Speaker 1: South Carolina him talking about that this this push pull
- 45:55Speaker 1: between start and turkey season so early, right, and guys
- 46:01Speaker 1: thinking that they're starting it too early, and the the
- 46:04Speaker 1: there's a lot of these lot of turkey bio just like, dude,
- 46:07Speaker 1: hunt turkeys as long as you want, don't start early. Yeah,
- 46:12Speaker 1: and some state like if you steal a day, steal
- 46:14Speaker 1: a day up front, give them two days.
- 46:16Speaker 3: On the other end, right, plenty of estates are doing
- 46:19Speaker 3: that well.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Idaho, Montana. The folks have talked to you. They're like,
- 46:23Speaker 4: there's no essentially no breeding going on. By the time
- 46:28Speaker 4: turkey season has started in Idaho or Montana, like it's
- 46:32Speaker 4: the bulk of the bell curve of the breeding is
- 46:34Speaker 4: completely done.
- 46:35Speaker 2: But yeah, they're still snow on the ground April fifteenth.
- 46:38Speaker 4: They're saying that the hens have been bred.
- 46:41Speaker 3: What really, I'm not buying that.
- 46:43Speaker 8: Yeah, don't question.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Man. They're banning killing Jake's yes, wow, Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Which is just that, like it's like not being able
- 46:59Speaker 4: to kill Spike Elk, Like sometimes that Jake saves the
- 47:03Speaker 4: day here.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Like I understand you're trying to preserve quality of hunt
- 47:08Speaker 1: so and like it doesn't make any sense that you'd say, Okay,
- 47:11Speaker 1: I got an idea, no one can kill a long beard.
- 47:13Speaker 2: People would revolt.
- 47:15Speaker 1: You're right, But I wonder if the objective was, like
- 47:18Speaker 1: if you're true objective was to preserve like age class
- 47:25Speaker 1: breeding turkeys, if that was the true soul objective, it
- 47:28Speaker 1: would probably make you'd probably end up saying, no, shoot
- 47:30Speaker 1: all the jakes you want, don't shoot long beards.
- 47:33Speaker 3: There's a lot more jags.
- 47:34Speaker 2: But people would freak out.
- 47:35Speaker 4: I would freak out, as we know here in Montana.
- 47:37Speaker 4: If you go out opening week and you're like, god,
- 47:39Speaker 4: there's a lot of jakes around. Go back to the
- 47:41Speaker 4: same spot last week of the season, You're like, oh
- 47:44Speaker 4: my god, there's so many toms around you. Magically, there's
- 47:48Speaker 4: so many toms where there used to be so many jakes.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Looks like they also out loud. Uh fanning and reaping
- 47:55Speaker 3: on on private.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, Scannie, you can't fan and reap. No, you
- 48:01Speaker 1: can't fan in Michigan or Skan.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Anymore after a few years ago.
- 48:05Speaker 4: No idea.
- 48:08Speaker 1: So for you folks at home, what we're talking about
- 48:10Speaker 1: is there was a There is a strategy. It is
- 48:13Speaker 1: a deadly at times, a deadly turkey hunting strategy is
- 48:19Speaker 1: picture picture yourself. You drive down the road and you
- 48:23Speaker 1: come through old old man Morgenson's uh pasture pasture, and
- 48:29Speaker 1: lo and.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Behold ten am on a Monday morning.
- 48:32Speaker 1: There's just a giant gobbler out there with a couple hens,
- 48:34Speaker 1: and he's just strutting his ass off out in the middle.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Out in the middle. You're never gonna call him in.
- 48:41Speaker 1: He's you're never gonna like call him over to the edge.
- 48:44Speaker 1: If you crawl out there, he's gonna run away.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Well what do you do, Well, you get a big
- 48:48Speaker 2: old Turkey fan and you lay down on your belly
- 48:52Speaker 2: and you army crawl holding that Turkey fan up.
- 48:55Speaker 1: And there's a high likelihood, if you play your cards right,
- 49:00Speaker 1: you will just crawl right up to.
- 49:01Speaker 2: That turble or he'll come running straight out and come
- 49:04Speaker 2: running to you. And then you just stick your shot
- 49:05Speaker 2: on which I have done. You actually snake your barrel
- 49:09Speaker 2: through the feathers and kind of rest rested on the fan.
- 49:14Speaker 2: It is deadly effective. Guys are even taking it to
- 49:18Speaker 2: the point.
- 49:18Speaker 1: I remember there these dudes that are all over on
- 49:20Speaker 1: social media and everybody always has a conniption.
- 49:22Speaker 2: But they make a hat, a Turkey fan hat. Whoa yeah,
- 49:28Speaker 2: and so it's like a.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Little army helmet and they crawl around with a Turkey
- 49:32Speaker 1: fan hat. Now people will look at this and bring
- 49:35Speaker 1: up the very obvious point, what if someone shoots that thing?
- 49:40Speaker 4: And if you haven't brought up this point, listen to
- 49:42Speaker 4: Jordan Siller's new podcast Yeah about guy getting shot in
- 49:45Speaker 4: the turkey ones.
- 49:46Speaker 2: It's not only deadly for the turkey. Yeah, and then
- 49:48Speaker 2: you can, like in Wyoming, hunt turkeys of a rifle.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Can you still have them with the rifle? In Florida?
- 49:54Speaker 2: I remember they tried to get rid of it for
- 49:55Speaker 2: a while. Uh it could be you know, was it Abernathy?
- 50:01Speaker 2: They get we've had a couple of guys out of
- 50:03Speaker 2: and got shot hunting turkeys. I think, yeah, Abernathy got
- 50:08Speaker 2: shot hunting turkeys. I know guys in Pennsylvania got shot Abernathy.
- 50:13Speaker 2: He lifted his foot up to rest it on a stump,
- 50:14Speaker 2: and the guy shot his leg. I think it was Abernathy.
- 50:18Speaker 1: And then he's the guy said in interviewing his shooter.
- 50:21Speaker 1: He said, man, when you put your leg up on
- 50:24Speaker 1: that stump, looks just like a time going into strut.
- 50:29Speaker 9: Guys got some vision problems.
- 50:32Speaker 8: I wonder, I wonder if there's been any sort of
- 50:34Speaker 8: studies done on like trying to figure out what it is.
- 50:37Speaker 8: It's like triggers something in their brain that like takes
- 50:40Speaker 8: over a turkey's body.
- 50:43Speaker 4: The competition, man, I mean, that's all. That's what it's
- 50:46Speaker 4: got to be. Plus well, when the floors to man,
- 50:50Speaker 4: they are I don't think they're ever like more exposed
- 50:55Speaker 4: than when they're in struct right, so they you know,
- 50:59Speaker 4: they completely block themselves from having almost three hundred and
- 51:02Speaker 4: sixty degree vision.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Yeah right, it's a great chance to lift your gun
- 51:06Speaker 1: up so that when he turns because he can't see you.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:09Speaker 4: Yeah. But outside of that, so it's basically signaling to
- 51:13Speaker 4: all other birds. Not only is it AOK, but there's
- 51:17Speaker 4: like some hot hen action over here too, and I.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Think you might be in a fighting mood.
- 51:23Speaker 4: I think that's the combination of things, right, It's like
- 51:25Speaker 4: it's a signal that it's totally safe, no predators around,
- 51:30Speaker 4: and something really good good's happening, and that's like the combination.
- 51:34Speaker 2: I just can't resist it.
- 51:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I was. I was deer hunting in Idaho one time,
- 51:39Speaker 6: and it was a limited.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Damn sure, weren't turkyng No, that's true, that's true. But
- 51:43Speaker 2: it was a limited, limited bull elk unit.
- 51:46Speaker 6: And we actually met a tag holder earlier that day.
- 51:51Speaker 6: They were hunting down the ridge from us, and we
- 51:54Speaker 6: found a big bowl and we went and told him,
- 51:56Speaker 6: you know, it was bowl over here, and we we
- 51:59Speaker 6: sort of got set up to watch the bowl and
- 52:03Speaker 6: they popped out one of those like cow elk foldable decoys,
- 52:09Speaker 6: walked straight to the thing. It was like on a
- 52:11Speaker 6: big open hillside. We were on a big open hillside
- 52:13Speaker 6: and there's a little ridge between us. They walked straight
- 52:16Speaker 6: towards that bowl until they could get out of sight,
- 52:19Speaker 6: and then put the cow decoy down and shot the bowl.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Hmm. And I I've never been more nervous in my
- 52:26Speaker 2: life that someone was gonna fill a cow tag on them.
- 52:29Speaker 6: Yeah, And I don't think there were any cow tags.
- 52:31Speaker 6: Like I kind of asked them about it. I was like,
- 52:33Speaker 6: you know, are you sure there's not cow tags here?
- 52:36Speaker 6: And are you sure that someone's not gonna mistake a
- 52:38Speaker 6: branch behind you or anything for an antler? Like I
- 52:41Speaker 6: just don't trust other people out there. But I've always
- 52:44Speaker 6: been curious about it because it worked real well. Yeah,
- 52:46Speaker 6: but like, yeah, it was kind of put the ice
- 52:50Speaker 6: in my veins a little bit.
- 52:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Reaping is one of those things I would never send
- 52:54Speaker 1: my kid out to do. Yeah, because you it'd be like,
- 53:00Speaker 1: you know, because just picture the news article.
- 53:03Speaker 4: It's just additional risk, risk verse.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Reward, Yeah, and you'd be like, man, people would be
- 53:09Speaker 1: mad at you.
- 53:11Speaker 2: He did what.
- 53:13Speaker 1: So you already couldn't in South Carolina in public, Now
- 53:16Speaker 1: you can't on private. I think this is going to
- 53:18Speaker 1: be my prediction when I crystal ball this, I get
- 53:22Speaker 1: this is gonna be more and more.
- 53:23Speaker 2: And more and more common.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 53:26Speaker 1: In the meantime, I would advise, Uh, I don't want
- 53:31Speaker 1: to blame the victim here. In the meantime, I would
- 53:35Speaker 1: advise people as we head out into the Turkey woods
- 53:38Speaker 1: to spring, just don't shoot at random tail fans or
- 53:44Speaker 1: random movement.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:46Speaker 6: Kind of one of the first rules of gun safety.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Yeah, think about it a minute before shooting at fans
- 53:53Speaker 1: because it might be a it might be a reaper.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Maybe think about think about where you reap too.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not it's just not especially at the public.
- 54:04Speaker 2: It's just not that smart. They give a definition.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Fanny or reaping is the practice of stalking a wild
- 54:10Speaker 1: turkey while hiding behind a decoy or tail fan, or
- 54:13Speaker 1: an image or likeness of a tail fan, applied to
- 54:16Speaker 1: any material I would carry.
- 54:21Speaker 2: I kind of quit. I didn't really carry it last year.
- 54:23Speaker 2: I used to carry in my turkey vest, I carried
- 54:26Speaker 2: a fan. And if you cut a fan, right, there's
- 54:28Speaker 2: a way to cut it off the turkey where you
- 54:30Speaker 2: can fold it out like a pack of cards. Then
- 54:32Speaker 2: it'll fold up real nice.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I would lay it out and I had a little handle,
- 54:36Speaker 1: even I had like a formal little handle, and I
- 54:39Speaker 1: had a way you could open it up. And I
- 54:41Speaker 1: had two wing nuts on a handle. So when you
- 54:44Speaker 1: put the when you put the bolts, you put these
- 54:47Speaker 1: two little bolts through the fan. It would hold the
- 54:49Speaker 1: fan open. Throw a couple of wing nuts on there,
- 54:52Speaker 1: and it was meant to be my crawler arounder never
- 54:56Speaker 1: got shot.
- 54:58Speaker 6: But you've stopped carrying it.
- 55:01Speaker 2: I did.
- 55:02Speaker 1: I did, yeah, not wanting to get shot.
- 55:07Speaker 2: And then also I feel like some of the places
- 55:09Speaker 2: I hunt you can't do it. You can still do
- 55:11Speaker 2: it Montana though.
- 55:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Texas, here's a Texas turkey hunting rule. This isn't terribly
- 55:19Speaker 1: earth shattering. Hunters must report harvest within twenty four hours
- 55:24Speaker 1: for all wild turkeys in all counties.
- 55:25Speaker 2: What did it used to be?
- 55:27Speaker 9: I don't think you had a report. I just found
- 55:29Speaker 9: that this morning.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you had to report. Sorry, I think you had
- 55:33Speaker 2: to report.
- 55:35Speaker 9: Maybe they shortened the time. When I went to the
- 55:40Speaker 9: state website, I didn't see what it was before. Are
- 55:45Speaker 9: they collecting data with that or they just want to
- 55:47Speaker 9: know if you're shot on?
- 55:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's absolutely waiting. See how many birds
- 55:55Speaker 4: got squatted that year? Yeah, yeah, I don't ever recalled, Yeah,
- 56:03Speaker 4: submitting a report for killing a turkey in Texas.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Here's a Florida rule coming up, or Florida. This is
- 56:13Speaker 1: a your cow talk about this Florida deal.
- 56:16Speaker 4: What's the Florida deal?
- 56:17Speaker 3: The no nrs the first three days of the season.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Oh, no non residents for turkey three days. So this
- 56:27Speaker 4: is a good example of states watching other states do stuff.
- 56:31Speaker 4: And I think South Dakota was the first one to
- 56:35Speaker 4: be like the opening week of pheasant is for resident
- 56:39Speaker 4: only unless you have private property access, I think I believe.
- 56:44Speaker 2: So.
- 56:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so all all the public stuff is off limits
- 56:49Speaker 4: to non residence and I know Montana actually has a
- 56:52Speaker 4: bill where they're considering a version of that as well.
- 56:56Speaker 4: North Dakota just went that way, I think, and those
- 57:01Speaker 4: that's for upland bird species. But here's a version of it,
- 57:04Speaker 4: first one that I'm aware of in the turkey hunting world.
- 57:08Speaker 4: But yeah, give all the residents first crack at those
- 57:12Speaker 4: times that really like to come out and straut and
- 57:14Speaker 4: rub it in your face. Mm hmm.
- 57:17Speaker 3: I don't.
- 57:17Speaker 2: I don't.
- 57:18Speaker 3: I don't know that's anything to get up in arms about.
- 57:20Speaker 2: I can't.
- 57:21Speaker 1: I mean I don't as a non as a Florida
- 57:22Speaker 1: non resident, I don't like it, right, But I have
- 57:25Speaker 1: to be honest about why I don't like it. Because
- 57:28Speaker 1: it's inconvenient to me. Yeah, I mean it's essentially inconvenient
- 57:32Speaker 1: to me. But that's not how you can make You
- 57:33Speaker 1: can't use that as the way to make rules.
- 57:35Speaker 3: It's three days of a five week season. Like, I
- 57:38Speaker 3: think it's okay to give residents a little little bone. There.
- 57:42Speaker 2: A guy that sent a guy sent me this article
- 57:44Speaker 2: and he's like, is it the end of turkey hunting
- 57:46Speaker 2: in Florida?
- 57:47Speaker 1: You know it's a bubber. I mean, if you're a
- 57:50Speaker 1: non resident, it's a bubber. But I mean, like, dude,
- 57:52Speaker 1: if I was going to make a list of every
- 57:54Speaker 1: advantage residents have over non residents, I couldn't find.
- 57:57Speaker 2: A piece of paper long enough. Yeah, you get to
- 57:59Speaker 2: write it out on toilet paper.
- 58:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it does not get me all up
- 58:05Speaker 4: in a tissy, but.
- 58:08Speaker 1: But man, if I was if I was a resident,
- 58:10Speaker 1: I'd be licking my lips, dude. I like, listen, if
- 58:15Speaker 1: they came in in this state and said, hey, you know,
- 58:19Speaker 1: from now on first three days the elk season, or
- 58:21Speaker 1: residence only first three days a deer season, residents only, anything, anything,
- 58:26Speaker 1: I'd be like sweet, because with a lot of stuff,
- 58:31Speaker 1: with a lot of hunting rules, it winds up being it.
- 58:35Speaker 2: You know. I tried, like, I don't know if I
- 58:36Speaker 2: don't make sense. I've always thought there's certain there's some
- 58:39Speaker 2: things that are like moral, you know, and there's some
- 58:42Speaker 2: things that don't have.
- 58:43Speaker 1: A moral component. They just have a it's just like
- 58:45Speaker 1: a strategic component. Like you can't get morally upset about it.
- 58:49Speaker 1: I don't view this as a moral thing. This is
- 58:52Speaker 1: just like a luck or not. It's like lucky or
- 58:54Speaker 1: not lucky. It's unlucky for non residency.
- 58:59Speaker 3: I think in Florida cap non resident turkey tags at
- 59:03Speaker 3: like ten percent.
- 59:05Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 59:06Speaker 3: I think they might.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Is it like the way Montana caps with the caps
- 59:12Speaker 4: and quotations caps and quotations, Yeah, I have no idea.
- 59:16Speaker 2: What do you mean by the caps and quotation Well.
- 59:19Speaker 4: There's this idea that the math is as simple as
- 59:22Speaker 4: it sounds of like, well, yeah, there can only be
- 59:25Speaker 4: ten percent of all tags going to non residence per region,
- 59:29Speaker 4: but it's it's per opportunity.
- 59:32Speaker 2: What what's that mean.
- 59:34Speaker 4: It means that for every opportunity in that reg book,
- 59:40Speaker 4: doze cows, bulls bucks, there's ten percent of every opportunity
- 59:46Speaker 4: available to non residents. And then if there's leftover opportunities,
- 59:51Speaker 4: they they're open to whoever wants those leftover opportunities.
- 59:55Speaker 6: And there's ways there's certain categories of tags available to
- 59:59Speaker 6: non residents that don't count against that ten percent, Like
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: if you have like to come home to hunt program,
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: that doesn't count. Yeah, or the like the Montana I
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: think they called Montana natives, So if you're born in
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: Montana but live out of state, that doesn't count.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: I think like.
- 1:00:14Speaker 6: The college students that are here, like there, they've created
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: all these carve outs that don't count against that ten
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: percent number.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: Yeah, No, I'm not sure what happens if if you
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: are specific Yeah, if you're specifically going with an outfitter,
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: I'm not sure where that lands either, but.
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: Yeah, it's it's it's not a hard cap, yeah.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: And then like a state like Idaho, who's like same
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: kind of rules. Right, there's like a whole landowner pool
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: and a whole outfitter pool. And the math doesn't ever
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: really work in the way that we think it does,
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: kind of like the national debt.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: There is a uh, cal we're gonna talk where you
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: get We're to have you talk about another We're in
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: a minute, we're jumping around for state and state.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Do we do? We want to talk about the California thing?
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Is it too complicated?
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: We should find out what happens?
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: It is pretty easy. So marine protected areas okay, of
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: which many exist in the state of California, with various
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: states of protections within an m P a marine protect
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: protected area, going from you can still do fishing and
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: recreation to you can't have a boat in their type
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: of spectrum right and and no take of wildlife.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: And do they move around right like they open one.
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: Well, that that's an idea. That's that started at at
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: the beginning of the m P a idea. Now we're
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: in the decatal review period of time, and that's where
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: like the crazy politics come in because it started as
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: this like, oh, this is going to get done really quick,
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: and there's only a couple of people on the Marine
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: Fisheries Commission that are going to take care of the
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: whole thing. And people once they started to learn what
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: was at stake and all the proposals to expand MPAs
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: and have like the most serious restrictions like no voting,
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: no fishing, then they were like, oh no, no, this is
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: a big deal. So now the amount of people paying
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: attention is a lot larger. So it's like the full
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: Marine Fisheries Commission versus just just two members of the Commission.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: And yeah, it's a huge access just flat out access
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: to the ocean issue. And it's a huge, huge access
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: to to fishing and food issue too, and it and
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: it yeah, runs the gamut of like, you know, are
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: we protecting the visual like the property values of very
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: wealthy homeowners. Are we doing so at the degradation of
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: marginalized community's ability to go fish? Are we There's all
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: sorts of things that this gets into, But where we're
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: at right now is you can still comment on mp as.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: There's a lot of petitions out there, and it is
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: not going to get solved anytime real soon. But you
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: need to be aware that a lot of access and
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: fishing opportunity sometimes even like surfing opportunity is at stake
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: right now in the state of California. I went and
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: dove a walk in spot last year out of big
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: sur and it was freaking gorgeous and fairly I mean,
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: I'm sure some people would think it's fairly dangerous, like
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: it's right next to like a juvenile white shark area
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: and really cool spot. But that spot that nobody was
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: down there using except for us, is would be a
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: place that would be closed to expand a marine protected
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: area really.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: So basically all you could do is walk up and
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: down the beach and nothing else.
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: With like the most extreme level of NPA like public
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: access beaches, right, Yeah.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: I think they should ban everything butt fishing.
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's the thing is, there's all sorts of
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: arguments here of like, well, we want to protect areas
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: for kelt because the kelp forests have been in such
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: crazy as you decline, but there's no evidence to suggest
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: that MPAs have helped kelp at all. The fishing argument,
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: you know, it's fishing regulations, not necessarily mp as, that
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: are gonna have a factor in in the health of
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: your fishery. So it's it's really interesting, but it is
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: like your your public opportunity that's at stake there, so
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: you need need to get engaged. And like California b
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: h A has been really good on this as well
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: as what is Matt Bonds All waters dot Org. Those
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: those folks have been really good on this and they're
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: putting out great information. Uh, and they're getting people to
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: all of these meetings. So connect, connect with one of
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: those groups and learn more and see where you fit in.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: Who are the people that are pushing for it.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna hit you with a bunch of quotes ready.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: This is all quotes from the meeting one of the
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: meetings about this Laguna Beach expansion. Someone says, the current
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: MPa in Laguna is a ten mile fishing closure. Wow,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: ten mile fishing closure, so they already got a ten
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: mile closure, this guy is saying at the meeting. He says,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: the current MPa in Laguna is a ten mile fishing closure,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: significantly impacting our fishing area, not just for us, but
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: for all local fishing boats as well as lobster fishermen.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: While we have all.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: Supported the existing MPa in Laguna Beach and have adapted
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: to that closure, over time, we remained opposed to any
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: further expansion, and really we were very shocked to even
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: see this proposal at all. Someone in favor of it says,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: this extent extension is a crucial step towards strengthening marine protection,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: preserving biodiversity, and ensuring the long term health of our
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: coastal ecosystems. A guy, another guy had this to say,
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: we just want to make it simple for people that
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: this is a no fishing zone. There's plenty other places
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: to fish. That's a guy at the meeting. Another guy
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: at the meeting.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: We'd like to have one little section of coastline where
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: we can still enjoy ourselves, go fish and catch stuff
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: and dive and have a good time.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Yeah, because the proposed extension would make Laguna Beaches southern
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: coast completely off limits to fishing.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Another guy at the meeting.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Don't take another healthy thing away from us, and don't
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: take food out of people's mouths, and so like.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: That quote of like, oh, there's plenty other places to fish, right,
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: Like that's a great example of It's like, well are
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: those places available to who just folks with a big,
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: fancy boat, And it's this coastal access component that people
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: are really you know, because there's so many people go
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: out and fish on the piers, but that type of
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: fish is not necessarily for everybody, right And yeah, So
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: lots of lots of arguments here, and they've made a
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: lot of good, like grassroots steps into making sure a
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: lot of these other communities with the vested interest in
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: fishing and public access are actually getting a seat at
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: the at the table, which is great. O.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Can we return for a minute. This this this turkey
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: thing the South Carolina sorry, the Florida deal. Oh yeah,
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: proposed draft to rule language.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Okay, So the point of this was that you can
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: let your voice be heard, and you could. You could
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: here's an email address, commissioners at my FWC dot com.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: But would you this is just a question, would you
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: feel funny as a dude from another state writing the
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Wildlife commissioners in Florida?
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Given your two cents, anybody can take the survey.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: There you go.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: So here's a there's someone drafted a note here, a
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: guy that wrote us into us drafted away. Here's some
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: things you could say in voicing your concerns. You can
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: talk about wild turkey populations in Florida are not in jeopardy. Okay,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: talk about there's no there's no concern for the resource.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Hunter satisfaction was reported as good or excellent by sixty
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: three percent of surveyed participants.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: In twenty twenty three, non residents funded over half of
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: all turkey related license costs. But they're only twenty two
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: percent of participating hunters. Okay, So half of the funding
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: for licenses came from twenty two percent of the hunters,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: and residents are already gobbling up ninety percent of special
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: turkey hunt opportunities gobbling up. That was good? Did I
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: just make that up? I did make that up.
- 1:10:41Speaker 8: I mean.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Something's in the air, spring thunder neurovirus.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I don't think I have that right now. So, yeah,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: you can still let your voice be heard. But I
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: would feel very very funny writing in being like as
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: it because you're kind of like, uh, you kind of
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: like like all your cards around the table. You're like, hey,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: you know, as a non president, like, how many dudes
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: from out of state are writing in to say I
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: think this sounds like a fantastic idea.
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: I think the first three days should be for non residents.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I got that. I got a counter proposal. How
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: about I just get to hunt for three days? Yeah, cal,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: what's habitat Montana?
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: What's up with that? This is we're doing? We're this
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: is nothing to do with turkeys.
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: Hey yeah. So basically habitat Montana it's a big.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Fund, kind of rupt real quick, Yes, sir, Bdy, watch
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: you dump all the weeds out.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: I didn't dump that out.
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: Pass it over, spell out. I would love to have
- 1:11:49Speaker 9: some more.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Serving up on that.
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: Steve, rub your hands all over that stuff.
- 1:11:56Speaker 9: So we're just passing it.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I was contagious.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: It's good on at salmon as a little seasoning.
- 1:12:08Speaker 9: Gave me the scraps from there.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, habitat Montana.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: Yeah, Barnett, there's the other thing here. Anyway, habitat Montana
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: is a habitat fund, right, it's set aside specifically to
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: address are like state parks maintenance funding for habitat work
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: that can address like non game species specifically. So it's
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: it's nice to have that because then you know your
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: hunter angler dollars. You're like, oh yeah, that's just gonna
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: go more towards game species and access easements as well. Right,
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: So like getting habitat easements on working timber lands or
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: agriculture ground so it doesn't get developed and gobbled up
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: and turned into something non wildlife producing. This is something
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: in twenty twenty I think we voted on. It's it's
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: really the reason that there's like recreational marijuana sales in
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: Montana because they tied the taxes associated with the sale
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: of recreational marijuana to this big outdoor habitat recreation fund
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: called Habitat Montana got it. It got whittled away at
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: a little bit because obviously people were like, oh my gosh,
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: that's a lot of weed money out there we could
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: use for all sorts of things. So the last legislative
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: session some cash got carved out of it, and now
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: we have house built three oh seven. That's happening right now.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: It's in play right now in the state of Montana.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Just looking at scan the whole thing, it.
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: Would basically suck Philly.
- 1:13:59Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: What's that great movie that we used to laugh about,
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: the I Take a straw and.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: There you go, Yeah, exactly have you seen drink milk?
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: I'm a weed man.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Associated there's like a spoof on it called there Will
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Be Bud. They do the whole trailer on a campus,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: and it's all like a guy trying to gobble up
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: the weed market on a campus and he's like.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: I clear your bong rip.
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: Which is very appropriate because we're dealing with weed money here, right.
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: So anyway, voters Montana came came together and said this
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: is what we want, got whittled the way last session,
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: and now in this session it's going. If HB three
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: oh seven were to pass, it would remove this funding.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: To what end, to use it for something different, to
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: use it.
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: For something different, which it doesn't really even we don't
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: even need to talk about because the state's operating at
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: a surplus right now, so there's lots of money that
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: could be used. This is money that's earmarked for habitat
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: And then we put it in the context of what's
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: happening with the federal government right now with the funding
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: freezes and the fact that there is a huge question
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: mark around federal funding that is typically available for habitat
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: work like this state fund is very important. We're seeing
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: a huge increase in the population here in Montana and
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: a huge increase of the overall population that is using
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: state lands in weed and weed apparently, Yeah, so.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: We need it I'll try to explain a little bit
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: this to our day to someone. We're having a conversation
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: about state funding mechanisms, and I'm like, with the FEDS
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: kind of setting the clock back to eighteen ninety five
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: in terms of attitude towards natural resources, this is going
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: to become even more important.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: More important, and we're just seeing increased use too. So yeah,
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: it's it's a bummer that some folks think that this
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: is a good idea right now. Recent polling data says
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: seventy one percent of Montana households use public lands and trails,
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: and this is our only like state funding mechanism set
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: aside to address this stuff, and it's been like wildly
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: successful the way it's been used so far. We completely
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: eliminated the state park's maintenance backlog out of this fund.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: So instead of you, like you're hunting in angling dollars
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: going to things that probably folks in this room don't
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: use quite as much as as the retirees out there.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: We kind of like the fact that our hunting and
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: angling dollars are addressing the things that we want, not
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: some of the things that are being addressed in this
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: habitat for Montana fund.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: You know, what would be helpful to a citizen such
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: as myself is whenever you see a proposal like we're
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I was covering like proposals, Let you know, there should
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: be a way that you know, like there should be
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: a a graphic that goes with proposals, and it'd be
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: like the fire risk.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Because you know, like like there ared is that that some.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Gal from Florida introduces legislation to put like Trump on
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: on Mount Rushmore. Okay, okay, So what it would be
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: is that graphic would be there, and the graphic would
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: be like at all the way to the left, meaning
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: this will never happen, do I mean like it's like
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: it's someone just doing a thing to well in that case,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: it's just like it's just someone being like a sycophant, right,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: They're like they're like doing a gesture like hey, look
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: look at me. Look how loyal I am? You know,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: and it's not serious, like it's not gonna happen. Yeah,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: it's not serious. Like a lot of Peda's work, Yeah,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: like Pete stuff like oh yeah, here's a billboard, here's
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: a bill to ban people from being able to say
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: you got your your cart before the horse or whatever,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: you know, like to ban any kind of animal expression.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: So if you could just be at home and see
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: a bill and it would just tell you, or there's
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: an app you could scare. You could like take a
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: photo of legal language and the app would be like,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: this is like a not thing. This is a non thing.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: It's someone, it's a gesture. It's someone trying to make headlines.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: Yeah, don't burn your brain thinking about this.
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: It happens. It happens on both sides that someone will
- 1:18:54Speaker 6: introduce some sort of frivolous legislation and then you see
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: a bunch of headlines about it because the people on
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: the other side, I want to bash that idea publicly,
- 1:19:06Speaker 6: and it's like, oh, let's just pay attention to more
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: serious things, right.
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: It just sucks the bandwidth out of there.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: And then that's when you hear people be like, now
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: they're trying to do you know what I mean.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, like Peter does stuff just to get
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: like Peta does things just to egg.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: On and hopefully get a headline.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Yeah, to egg people on.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, and so they'll do a thing like
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: this has zero chance in hell, but they'll do it
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: because also in there they are in the headlines, and
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: it was like that that Mount Rushmore thing, you know,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: it's funny.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: I looked up and I was trying to picture Mount Rushmore.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: I was like, would you put it on the right
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: lookers right or lookers left? But j'all just say this.
- 1:19:46Speaker 6: You can't room.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: There's no like, no this the rock's not suitable kind
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: of someone's got to go.
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: This is this is what I was looking for, Just
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: so folks know it's not just here in Montana. Like,
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: if you recreate Montana, you live here right in. Ask
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: your state representative to vote no or even a no vote,
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: but to vote no on HB three oh seven. We
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: need dedicated habitat funding. That's the only thing that we
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: have right now. But over in Wisconsin there's a similar
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: bill that would would basically stop the Noles Nelson Stewardship program,
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: which was created in nineteen eighty nine. People are really
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: organized and aware of this one, including Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever,
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: the Safari Club have all come together to make sure
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: the Noles Nelson Stewardship program is renewed. And there's some
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: lawmakers over there that are saying that they're going to
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: stop it because it's just funding that they don't think
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: should exist.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: But is there is there examples in other states where
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: where the like funds like these weed tax funds or
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: like lottery sales where that that were dedicated towards public lands, wildlife,
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: et cetera, where they've been raided and put elsewhere.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: Oh, I think there's there's a ton of examples. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: I mean like look at look at the state of Missouri.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Missouri is considered to have like a phenomenal wildlife funding
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: mechanism because they have an actual state tax right but
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: literally the year after that tax was implemented, there were
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: people trying to shut that thing down. And every year
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: people attempt to divert funds from you know what many
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: people consider to be like one of the best wildlife
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: programs in the US, but an another one. New Mexico
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: has like a sovereign wealth fund that's taxes out of energy,
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: which is a fund that renews itself and grows, and
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: then that funding basically secures or is secure for like
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: their school programs, So that that'd be a version of
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: what this habitat for Montana fund is that is successful.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: So that's baked into the Restoration Wildlife factor, the Pittman
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Robertson Fund. They baked into it language and it's called
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: like so and so's twenty.
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: Words or something like that.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Right, there's like a name for it where it's excuse.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Me that it's like it's written into the rule that
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: you can't pillage it.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Yeah, because anytime someone sees a little pot of money,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: they want to go get it.
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: And I'm not sure about Missouri, but like at least
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: in Montana, I mean that was part of the that's
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: like what people voted on, like we're gonna do weed,
- 1:23:10Speaker 6: but the weed money is going to go here, you know.
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: And I believe that the same is true of the
- 1:23:15Speaker 6: sales tax in Missouri. Is that like it was? Wasn't
- 1:23:18Speaker 6: it a public Yeah?
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: Total bipartisan Yeah, And it's like this is part of
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: the deal, and then as soon as as soon as
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: people get on the same page, somebody else is trying
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: to do the run around behind the back and spend
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: that money elsewhere.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: I've always been like, like all this legalizing weed rules,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: I could give a shit. I don't know what was
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: so bad about hiding in the bushes, But I'm like well, yeah, man,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: if you're going to use it for conservation money, then
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: ye get a lot of money.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: Still, does your theory still hold true? Like about democratic
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: and republican states like legalization.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: That legalizing weed is yeah, like the lefty states were
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: quicker to legalize weed.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: Of course.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: I'm just wondering what I mean.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: Isn't that just like accepted as reality?
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: I know, but we've kind of kind of showed that
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: it wasn't necessarily that the case.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: I think over time perhaps, but Wyoming is still holding strong.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: I believe they don't want you smoking weed. I believe
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: so I'm out.
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: Hmmm, I drink it up.
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: Yeah? Who else has got something?
- 1:24:39Speaker 9: Someone's got it? Take me turkey hunting this season. That's
- 1:24:45Speaker 9: my thing.
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: I I want everybody to know that kren is the
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: only person in the office. We'll just put we have
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: like internal communication thing called slack, and she'll just put
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: out there, does anybody have any pheasant spots they want
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: to give?
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: Put?
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: The thing is like, she absolutely knows it's not appropriate questions,
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: but she doesn't care either. Somebody will break.
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: I put on the charade of just going up never
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: killed a turkey.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: Just putting that out there, but I don't you know, then.
- 1:25:23Speaker 6: Follow up with the director ask just sort of seed
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: that thought.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: Don't you ask some special gun you're gonna use for
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: your first.
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: Turkey if I can get it back from the gunsmith.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: Great one.
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: Yeah, when you're talking, I wasn't.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: I was only I was only half listening when you're yeah,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: because I wanted to tease you about shooting flint lock.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Sure, what is the gun you're making?
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: It's a it's a very silly story, but it's it's
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: a it's like a German imported version of a submachine
- 1:25:54Speaker 6: gun that's civilian legals. So it's got a sixteen inch
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: barrel and the lower unit is different. So you can
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: get a trigger group from the real deal, make some modifications,
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: mills some things, replace some parts, slap it in there,
- 1:26:05Speaker 6: and then you get a little it's a.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Little little bullet, a little bullet hose and it's fully automatic.
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: No, no, it's just it resembles the real thing.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: We were talking about breaking law for a minute. No, no, no,
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: this is all above that.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: That's a yeah, it's that's a big that's a big
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: law to break.
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, this is very self conscious, but this is
- 1:26:28Speaker 6: just uh and.
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: You're going to use that machine gun for turkey?
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: No, no, no, It's just a silly, little fun project
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: that I'll probably end up selling as soon as I
- 1:26:37Speaker 6: finish it.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: This is one. Yeah.
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I've never seen Cal. He's got more stuff to read.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: I've never seen Cal less interested.
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, I mean I would have more interest
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: in talking about rewiring a camper trailer that's currently currently
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: sitting in your barn.
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: We can do that.
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's one more fun to me. Yeah, it's like, oh,
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: you're buying parts and putting them together.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: I couldn't believe how little he cared about what you're
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: talking about.
- 1:27:04Speaker 8: If you shot this thing, you would care more.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: Robertson dollars.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Great, you know what I was feeling, Cal was feeling
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: complete indifference. What I was feeling is a little out
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: of the out of the loop. Yeah, no, it's to
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: be like that that. I'm like, am I Like, how
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: could I not know what he's talking about?
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: Little jealous?
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: A very niche uh gun subculture. I've always been curious
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: about about these.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: When do you say these? What do you mean this?
- 1:27:34Speaker 8: This?
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: It's a it's just tell them what it is.
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: It's an h K U s C and the U
- 1:27:41Speaker 6: m P is the original sort of law enforcement version.
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: But you can do these modifications and put a folding.
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: Stock on it. What's miss Williams thinking? She thinks it's
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: really stupid. How much you're gonna have into this? Let's
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: just keep that.
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: That's not a great question.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all.
- 1:28:00Speaker 6: Those are all imaginary numbers, you know.
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: Should what you should ask is how much does he
- 1:28:04Speaker 8: stand to make off of this once he completes a
- 1:28:08Speaker 8: little build.
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: How much you're gonna make, Reynald, I don't know.
- 1:28:12Speaker 6: I don't know. I think it'll be I think it'll
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: be more than I put into it.
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: So this is like a for profit You're like a
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: gun dealer.
- 1:28:24Speaker 6: That have certain legal implications.
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: So I think it's a postum gun.
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: Now I'm trying to convince Randall to never sell gun
- 1:28:31Speaker 8: don't sell guns in that case.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: I always regret it when I do. No, that's not true.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: I used to, but now I don't.
- 1:28:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I've got a whole I mean, sometimes I play
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: a game with my buddy where we try to name
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: every gun that we've bought and sold, and we have
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: a spreadsheet going. But it's still incomplete because we can't
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: get there. Just a weird hobby, you know. So there's
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: some guys that are like really into cars, some guys
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: that are really into stamps. But this will be fun.
- 1:28:56Speaker 6: I'll have the little project and then I can use
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: it as a little plinker at the rain for a
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: little while, and then maybe it goes down the road.
- 1:29:02Speaker 6: Maybe I I just keep it, maybe I hang on
- 1:29:05Speaker 6: to it.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I do you want to keep going?
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: For the record, I didn't bring this up. It's true.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: I'm trying to change the subject. Several times. You seem
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: like you don't want to talk about it.
- 1:29:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, it's just, you know, it's one of
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: those things that I'd sort of do compulsively. And I
- 1:29:26Speaker 6: think if I if I were, if I were better
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: able to control my impulses, I'd probably make more practical
- 1:29:33Speaker 6: decisions with the guns that I buy and sell. But
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: you know, it's just me and something that I live
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: with every day. I look at myself in the mirror.
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: I don't always like what I see.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Too hard on yourself, cal go ahead, what were you
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: gonna say when you got bored with Randall?
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: Senate Joint Resolution twenty five Dash zero zero nine Protection
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: of Colorado's public Land. So this just happened yesterday. We're
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: very timely, right, But it is a bipartisan two Democrats
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: two Republicans in the state of Colorado pushed through sj R.
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: Twenty five Dash zero zero nine, which is a joint
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: resolution that says Colorado will not support the sale or
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: privatization or transfer of the twenty two million acres of
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: public land in the state of Colorado. So this is
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: in response to a bunch of the stuff that we've
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: been covering over the last couple of months, Utah's lawsuit,
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: which is going to be resubmitted here pretty quick. No really, yeah,
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: so great proactive move from the state of Colorado. Again,
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: they have twenty two million acres of federally managed land
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: in that state and saying that they're against sale or
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: transfer to public lands, which is great news for folks
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: who like to go out outside and do stuff in
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: a free America.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: And so with my little fire chart showing likelihood of advancing,
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: where does this one fit.
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: This one's through. It's through in the state of Colorado. Yeah.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: Also in Colorado, that one we were talking about where
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: they were going to change the language of how hunting
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: would be used, and that got tabled, so it's dead
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: for the year.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: You know what, I figured, I had that pegged as
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: a low when I developed my app. It'll be like
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: a low probability. That seemed like a gesture, that seemed
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: like grand standing.
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: But every now and then there's a dry, windy day,
- 1:31:41Speaker 6: you know, prefer like figuratively speaking, right.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: Yeah, do you like that? I really did, I really did.
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: I got a gun build going on right now too, Steve.
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: I finally sent you that guy's info. Oh yeah, and
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: we're not going to talk about him on the show
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: because I don't want to get him backed up too
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: much with gun orders. Yeah, my new new flint flint lock.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not saying names.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: Steve wants a percussion cap. I'm gonna go with the flintlock.
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: That's weak ship. I want.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: Let me tell what I want. I did a call
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: out on this and I'm gonna do another call out
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: on it. I want a single trigger percussion cap mm hmmm,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: tack driver.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: Without the set trigger.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Trigger I know company single yeh single trigger.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: You just want like a three pound.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: A three pound trigger.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: I don't want that stupid second trigger on there, just
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: percussion cap, single trigger, but a tack driver, and I'm
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: willing to pay.
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I have yet to participate. I guess we did do, Like, Ah,
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: where the hell were we Nebraska or Iowa or someplace
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: trying to hunt things with muzzleoders?
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: Yeah? Those are modern inlines, right, I like things.
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: So that's but that's the only thing I have.
- 1:33:06Speaker 8: No.
- 1:33:07Speaker 4: We plus we shot secret years ago.
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah you did that with you didn't even
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: have a scope on yours. No, No, those are shooting
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: away across the marsh, just leveling them.
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: Those things come with scopes. Anyway, real excited you to
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: participate in Montana's heritage season. Well, she's hanging with me. Yeah.
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: Uh so I'm doing the sensible thing and building up
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: a rifle that is going to be super awesome so
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: I can go effectively lay the smack down this this
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: coming heritage season with whatever tags I have left in
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: my pocket.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: What's a single trigger ahead, fifty col single trigger, fifty cow,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: three pound pole, percussion cap.
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: I don't care. That's like Timy.
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: It doesn't need to look old Timy. It's just it's
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: it's Montana legal.
- 1:34:03Speaker 8: That's like the old barely legal the TC Pennsylvania Hunter.
- 1:34:08Speaker 8: That's exactly what you're looking for.
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: Single trigger percussion.
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: Yeah, now with percussion caps, you still got to walk
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: around with a plastic bag.
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: If it's percussion Pennsylvania.
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: Yeah you can.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: You know you can only use flint lock.
- 1:34:25Speaker 8: Yeah, well wasn't. It's a it's a model that Thompson
- 1:34:29Speaker 8: Center made. They all the ones I've ever seen have
- 1:34:33Speaker 8: been flint locks. But uh, they make them in or
- 1:34:37Speaker 8: they used to. They don't make them anymore. Is it
- 1:34:39Speaker 8: still available?
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: Single trigger percussion? You probably have to find one somewhere.
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: I don't know. TC is getting fired back up again,
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: so maybe they're gonna start making them. Oh you want
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: to know something interesting that happen to me and doctor Randall.
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: Two things. We're in Wyoming. We're about right to wrap up, Phil.
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that's great.
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: Put your hand on the switch there. And we're in Wyoming.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: We went so we went to these archaeologists offices and
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: one thing that happened the minute we walked in the door.
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: If you remember this, Randall, We walked into an archaeologist
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: office and immediately I look in there's a giant dinosaur
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: bone on the floor like a giant femur of a
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: dinosaur and I said something to the effect of good lord,
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: what's that And he said that's a rock And I said, oh,
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: I thought it was a dinosaur bone.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: And he said that's what the guy that gave it
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: to me thought it was. And he offered it to us.
- 1:35:41Speaker 6: Hey, he said, if you want to get it out
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: of here, it's all yours.
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: Here's the interesting part.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: These guys are doing an excavation of Fort Bonneville, so
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: like an eighteen thirties mountain man site, and they're showing
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: us just a little like scraps of metal. I mean,
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: there's not much there, like you how the metal was coveted,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: like nothing gets thrown away but a.
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: Bunch of little old like old. But what would have.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Been very brand new is a bunch of percussion caps.
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: They came off this site and they looked just like
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: a yeah, really like.
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: Dude, just like a little yeah, just like a like
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: a percussion cap.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: Were they fired or on fire?
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: Fired percussion caps? Fired percussion caps? Yeah? That that was cool.
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're looking at the infancy of it would
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: have been cutting edge technology.
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's cool.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: Was it the Hawken Brothers that came up with percussion.
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: I wonder if those percussion caps worked.
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: They definitely did, man, they definitely did well.
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: How many of them worked to not work? Ratio? That's
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: what I mean?
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: Like what was the yeah, Like, how often did you
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: have a missfire?
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: I can't say, yeah, that hunt, that the Nebraska or
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: whatever late season dealer that we did. Finally, deer steps
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: out a little too far. Deer steps out a little
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: too far. Oh, this one's on the right track, comes
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: out perfect, broadside.
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: The bad primers, another tip, little.
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: Puffs of smoke and off percussions. Yeah, off percussion caps.
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah, yeah.
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: That's why you're going to the flint lock.
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: Exactly exactly well. And the other reason I'm going with
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: the flint lock too is if it, for whatever reason
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: is something that I do not like and can't accommodate,
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: I can always go to a percussion cap with that
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: same rifle.
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: I just put it changed the lot different.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: Yeah, do you ever think about getting yourself a match lock? No,
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: the old k had a light of fire.
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: Then they confuse.
- 1:37:54Speaker 6: A wheel lock.
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: All right, everybody good, and we got anything else to say?
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: Turkey week, Good luck, Turkey hold.
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: Do you have any Do you have any goals for
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: your week of vacation that's coming up.
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: I need to recuperate. We're gonna spearfish bunch. But I'm
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: worried about I just don't have any energy right now,
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: so I'm worried about that.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: Do you have any species goals?
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: No? Take what I can get. I packed my Feelae knife,
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: so I can tell you that.
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: You don't want to be on that.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: Pack my knife.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: I gotta get better. My kid's raring to go. He's
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: gonna be very irritated that I'm not that.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: I need a day. I need a recuperation day or
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: two when I get there.
- 1:38:44Speaker 9: Did he get that new GoPro?
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: My god, Oh he did, and he's got like a
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: little payment plan. He did a high bank rolled the purchase.
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: Uh he had he had one hundred bucks of the
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: kicked in. I made him make a chart so for
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: the next eight months, he owes me thirty bucks.
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: A month in interesting juice parenting. So I got that
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: chart my office, thirty bucks a month.
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: You should build one with like general credit card interest rates.
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: And here's what I could that.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a variable. That was the thing about it.
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: Milking it out of.
- 1:39:33Speaker 9: Him is ro getting the old camera.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: He says, part of what his plan is to sell
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: the old one to get some of his payments.
- 1:39:41Speaker 9: He's got a mind.
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: He's a wheeler dealer. Yeah, exactly. He's like Randall. He's
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: a wheeler dealer.
- 1:39:47Speaker 9: Out and he should accompany Randall to the estate sales
- 1:39:50Speaker 9: and then maybe they can buy stuff and re sell stuff.
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: And I can't wait to see him out there being like,
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: the more I talk about this, I don't even think
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: I want to sell this. It's probably better than the
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: new one. But I suppose I could let him go.
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: All right, this might be my last show. It's been fun.
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: Thanks for a good, good run.
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: What number is this grin? If I die?
- 1:40:15Speaker 7: Oh wow, we're at six hundred six seventy something.
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: You believe that if I die? Well, everybody you know,
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: thanks for listening. Can I have all your ship.
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: Address?
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: Yeah? And since Randall knows Randall, you're in charge of
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: the estates.
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't have to fight everything.
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: I've got the app on my phone.
- 1:40:45Speaker 6: It'll be real smooth.
- 1:40:46Speaker 9: We'll auction everything off and we'll get a bajillion dollars
- 1:40:50Speaker 9: for conservation.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: Randall sent me a plan access Randall. He was showing
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: me about an estate sale the other day and then
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: he sent me a picture. There's two things at the
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: estate sale that didn't sell, and it was a box
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: of empty DVD cases and some disposable yearine collection devices.
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: Everything else cleared out.
- 1:41:10Speaker 6: I got a I got a box of bullets for
- 1:41:12Speaker 6: real steel and a nice digital scale with my name
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: on it.
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: Thanks for joining
- 1:41:29Speaker 9: H
