- 0:00Speaker 1: Scrubbing In with Becca Tilly and Tanya red An iHeartRadio podcast.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hello everybody, we are scrubbing in.
- 0:12Speaker 3: On this holiday scrub sessh. It's thanks Giving.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Happy Thanksgiving.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Gobl' cluck gluck cluck cluck gluck cluck cluck.
- 0:25Speaker 2: What are you doing today on this Thanksgiving great gratitude
- 0:28Speaker 2: day of gratefulness?
- 0:31Speaker 3: Well, I like to be grateful and thankful every day
- 0:33Speaker 3: of the year, So today it's just about.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Eating a meal and living.
- 0:38Speaker 3: In that thankfulness, you know, because I think we should
- 0:40Speaker 3: be thankful outside of Thanksgiving.
- 0:42Speaker 2: That's beautiful.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Are you all hosting?
- 0:44Speaker 5: No?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Oh, I know? Is this the first year?
- 0:48Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 0:48Speaker 3: Wow, I know, And I'm sad about it. I'm not
- 0:51Speaker 3: sad about what we're doing. So we're spending Thanksgiving with
- 0:53Speaker 3: my parents. So we're driving out of San Diego. I'm
- 0:56Speaker 3: gonna see my niece for the first time. My brother
- 0:58Speaker 3: had his baby, but they're spending Thanksgiving with her family
- 1:02Speaker 3: that lives in San Diego your sister in law, correct,
- 1:05Speaker 3: And so it's just gonna be me, Robbie and my
- 1:07Speaker 3: parents and we're like going out to dinner.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 3: So i'man like excited to spend time with my parents
- 1:11Speaker 3: and I've never been out to dinner at Thanksgiving, so
- 1:13Speaker 3: like that's a whole new thing. But I'm having a
- 1:16Speaker 3: little bit of regret that we didn't host because I
- 1:19Speaker 3: like having a big Thanksgiving. I like having everybody over.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23Speaker 4: I think I like hosting.
- 1:24Speaker 2: You do, yeah, y'all love hosting. Yeah, So well it'll
- 1:29Speaker 2: be a change, you know. It's like the day is
- 1:31Speaker 2: about gratitude.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 3: We decided against it this year just because we have
- 1:35Speaker 3: so much going on with like the wedding, and like
- 1:37Speaker 3: we were it was just like, like why incur the
- 1:41Speaker 3: extra cost right now? You know, it's so true. So
- 1:43Speaker 3: that's why we decided against it. But I'm having a
- 1:45Speaker 3: little bit of regret.
- 1:47Speaker 4: But it's fine.
- 1:48Speaker 2: This isn't a day of regret.
- 1:49Speaker 4: It's not a day of regret, thank you.
- 1:51Speaker 2: It's a day of gratitude. Mark.
- 1:54Speaker 4: But we'll be hosting next year.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Okay, So we are hosting. My parents are coming in
- 1:57Speaker 1: from Tucson, they actually got in yesterday. Our friends, our
- 2:00Speaker 1: friends and friends of ours are coming in from they
- 2:02Speaker 1: live at Oak Park. They come up to join us,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and it's wonderful, especially this year because the Packers play tonight,
- 2:07Speaker 1: and we're all big Packer fans and they're friends. So
- 2:10Speaker 1: I got to watch the Packers play. They're playing the
- 2:13Speaker 1: Miami Dolphins, so everybody root for a green Bay. But
- 2:17Speaker 1: I do have a beef with Whole Foods. Tell me,
- 2:20Speaker 1: every year we get to Thanksgiving from Whole Foods and
- 2:22Speaker 1: it's great. Yeah, it's all a cart. I'll take this,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I'll take this, I'll take that. When we make little
- 2:26Speaker 1: low it's like, too many green beans next year, a
- 2:27Speaker 1: fewer green beans next year. We know we can skip
- 2:30Speaker 1: this next year. Let's get one more pie next year.
- 2:32Speaker 1: That sort of thing. This year they changed it completely.
- 2:34Speaker 1: There's no moral a cart. You have to buy their
- 2:37Speaker 1: Thanksgiving package. Well, the Thanksgiving package has got stuff. We
- 2:40Speaker 1: don't want. A ton of green beans, for example, that
- 2:42Speaker 1: are not going to get eaten.
- 2:44Speaker 4: You guys should really try the green beans.
- 2:45Speaker 1: We eat green beans, but we don't know. We don't
- 2:47Speaker 1: need a pound of green beans each. You know, it's
- 2:50Speaker 1: too many green beans. The mashed potatoes aren't regular mashed
- 2:53Speaker 1: potatoes or sour cream and hive mashed potatoes, which I'm
- 2:56Speaker 1: sure are lovely. But we've got a picky kid who's
- 2:58Speaker 1: not gonna eat those, I promise, way sour.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Cream and chipe sounds divine.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm sure they're great, but not everyone's gonna eat them.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So we like to have the option. So I can't
- 3:06Speaker 1: do that, And the only way to get stuffing is
- 3:09Speaker 1: to get the package, and I don't want the package.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So they changed everything and was very frustrating. So we're
- 3:14Speaker 1: not having stuffing tonight, thecery store stuffing because we're being
- 3:20Speaker 1: stubborn about it. You know, we're getting all of our
- 3:21Speaker 1: food at one place. We're not making ten different stops.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Oh but you know there's turkey and there's you know,
- 3:26Speaker 1: whatever else, whatever it is, but it's not stuffing.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Do you all have tonight? Okay, so today whenever you eat?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Actually, well that's that's a conversation.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Haley's we always do things living with Haley's family,
- 3:39Speaker 2: and her mom's out of town until tomorrow, so we're
- 3:41Speaker 2: celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow. So on Black Friday, sure, I'm gonna
- 3:47Speaker 2: be eating and shopping.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I guess, Well, today's gotta be weird for you.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I've never done this. Well, I did have one
- 3:53Speaker 2: year where I stayed here and I didn't have any
- 3:55Speaker 2: family in La so I was just by Oh, I
- 3:58Speaker 2: was by myself, and this is actually really nice. I
- 4:01Speaker 2: was dating Robert at the time and we had just
- 4:03Speaker 2: started dating, and he made me a Thanksgiving plate and
- 4:10Speaker 2: brought it to me like the next day before we
- 4:13Speaker 2: went on a date. I know, he's so sweet, but
- 4:17Speaker 2: I remember it was such a weird day because I
- 4:19Speaker 2: was just kind of like on my couch by myself.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I didn't I didn't have any family or anything. But
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm really happy, Like I'm excited because Haley and I
- 4:27Speaker 2: I was thinking maybe I could get some like our
- 4:29Speaker 2: favorite pasta and make like a really cozy meal and
- 4:33Speaker 2: just have like a day off together and then we'll
- 4:35Speaker 2: celebrate with her family tomorrow.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:39Speaker 1: What is the typical growing up like your family? What
- 4:42Speaker 1: was the dinner time on Thanksgiving Day?
- 4:44Speaker 2: It just was different because if it was my if
- 4:48Speaker 2: we went to my grandma's, it would be kind of
- 4:50Speaker 2: like a three to four pm thing and then just
- 4:53Speaker 2: basically eat until we were going.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I like that. I like dinner starting when it's still lightout.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And then you can graze and watch games.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Football games. Yeah, that's it.
- 5:05Speaker 2: And then when it was just my family, my parents
- 5:08Speaker 2: would do like a traditional Thanksgiving meal, but then none
- 5:10Speaker 2: of us would eat it. So finally they got to
- 5:12Speaker 2: a point where we like had lasagna on Thanksgiving because
- 5:16Speaker 2: we all eat it. So it was just like that, whoa.
- 5:21Speaker 2: But now we like we're celebrating Haley's family at her
- 5:24Speaker 2: sister's house and we all bring different things, so I'm
- 5:27Speaker 2: in charge of like, So, Haley, I was curious if
- 5:29Speaker 2: y'all had this experience. But one of my favorite parts
- 5:34Speaker 2: of Thanksgiving dinner was the role, like the bread like
- 5:38Speaker 2: a dinner roll. And Haley's family never grew up having
- 5:42Speaker 2: a bread dish or like a roll, and so last
- 5:45Speaker 2: year I brought it and they're like, oh my gosh,
- 5:47Speaker 2: this is so great having the rolls. And I was like,
- 5:49Speaker 2: y'all are crazy that y'all didn't have roles growing up.
- 5:52Speaker 2: This is like the foundation of my Thanksgiving dinner. So
- 5:57Speaker 2: I bring the like homemade like the buttered rolls, and
- 6:00Speaker 2: then sweet potato castle role.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Which is the southern thing. We discovered with Ryan last week,
- 6:05Speaker 1: didn't we know?
- 6:06Speaker 4: He said, sweet potato pie.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sweeptato pie.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Sweet potato pie.
- 6:10Speaker 4: No, no, me either, never even heard of it.
- 6:12Speaker 2: No, I've never had that, but it sounds probably similar.
- 6:14Speaker 2: It's probably what I make just with like a crust. Yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 2: because it's just mash up sweet potatoes. Uh, people dance
- 6:21Speaker 2: cinn them in butter and then uh marshmallow. It's really good.
- 6:26Speaker 2: It's like dessert.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Uh.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The buns you're talking about, we always had those, the roles, yeah,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I can picture them. They don't and that's a certain
- 6:33Speaker 1: kind of role that's only for like, but yes, we
- 6:36Speaker 1: always had those. And I'd always make my mom put
- 6:38Speaker 1: out peanut butter because I want to peanut butter on
- 6:39Speaker 1: my roll.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Ew, that's unique, sacrilegious on Thanksgiving to bring up.
- 6:45Speaker 1: It does seem wrong in retrospect, but I want a
- 6:47Speaker 1: peanut butter. I don't like just butter on my role.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I want on my roll. Now. Great, When I was
- 6:53Speaker 1: a kid, no chance.
- 6:54Speaker 2: My great grandma would home like make homemade rolls and
- 6:58Speaker 2: they were like little, just like bite size. They were incredible.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Nothing compares to those, but just carb, give me a carb. Thanksgiving.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Where are y'all going to go for.
- 7:10Speaker 4: For our food?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:11Speaker 3: I know, so we actually have two reservations because why
- 7:17Speaker 3: for one.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Of those restaurants you're not going?
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know it's hard to get both, and
- 7:20Speaker 3: so one of them, I think is at like two o'clock,
- 7:22Speaker 3: and one of them is at five. I'm pushing for
- 7:24Speaker 3: the two o'clock because I'd like to eat early. I
- 7:27Speaker 3: like to eat early.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I like to even it's light out, and then just
- 7:29Speaker 4: kind of like go to bed after.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Wait, there's a big gap there.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Well, I eat drinked. I don't want to have like
- 7:38Speaker 4: another meal, like I want to eat around.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Like three grazing that we endorse side of the.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I'm not so much of a grazer you on Thanksgiving though, Yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 3: but it's even about like it's just that it in full.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I eat till I'm so full that I don't need
- 7:54Speaker 3: to eat again.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But if y'all eat it too, what will you do
- 7:56Speaker 2: for dinner?
- 7:57Speaker 3: That's the problem. Two feels a little too early. Five
- 7:58Speaker 3: feels a little too late. So I'm like, I think
- 8:00Speaker 3: five's a.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Nice in between. It's basically a late lunch.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Three is like my deal. This is why I need
- 8:05Speaker 4: to host, because I love eating at three o'clock.
- 8:10Speaker 2: That's an interesting time to I mean, I love that too,
- 8:14Speaker 2: but I love it and this and said I'm at home,
- 8:16Speaker 2: and then I get to like go back for more.
- 8:17Speaker 3: So like three o'clock is like everybody shows up around
- 8:20Speaker 3: one thirty, has some drinks, mingles, sits, chats, plays Jenga.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Then you eat at like three three thirty, everybody eats, drinks,
- 8:30Speaker 3: chats that. When the sun goes down, everybody goes home,
- 8:33Speaker 3: You get in your cozies. It's like perfect, it's the
- 8:36Speaker 3: perfect time.
- 8:38Speaker 4: And now I have to choose between two and five.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Robbie's got three football games to watch too. Keep it
- 8:42Speaker 1: in mind, I'm a voute five really.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Of the two, I would choose five, and one of
- 8:48Speaker 3: them is like more of a Thanksgiving dinner, and then
- 8:51Speaker 3: the other one is more like not Thanksgiving dinner, which
- 8:54Speaker 3: is which the two o'clock is not thanksgivinglock.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it's very interesting. I've never done this before.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Should we do it? Would you rather? Thanksgiving Edition?
- 9:07Speaker 1: Oh? That sounds fun. Why don't we take a break that,
- 9:10Speaker 1: you know what? I need to just kind of sit
- 9:11Speaker 1: for a minute before we do that. Yeah, yeah, lets
- 9:14Speaker 1: do that.
- 9:33Speaker 2: All right, we're back, so we have a little would
- 9:35Speaker 2: you rather Thanksgiving Edition? Game? Quiz discussion discussion Mark, do
- 9:45Speaker 2: you want to do it?
- 9:47Speaker 1: Would you rather eat only turkey for the rest of
- 9:49Speaker 1: the month, or only pumpkin pie for the rest of
- 9:52Speaker 1: the month.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Wait, what, that's not one of my questions. No, mine
- 9:58Speaker 3: is turkey your ham.
- 10:00Speaker 1: That's a whole difference.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, I like this or that.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Better answer my question and then we'll do some this
- 10:10Speaker 2: or that.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Okay, fine, say it again, Mark.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Would you rather read only turkey for the rest of
- 10:15Speaker 1: the month, which is only, by the way, two and
- 10:16Speaker 1: a half days, or only pumpkin pie?
- 10:19Speaker 4: Got it?
- 10:21Speaker 2: Okay, what's your answer?
- 10:22Speaker 4: Turkey?
- 10:23Speaker 2: Yeah, she's a protein girly. Yeah. I would get so
- 10:27Speaker 2: weirded out by turkey by that point that I would
- 10:29Speaker 2: be like, so, I'm going pumpkin pie every day. I mean,
- 10:33Speaker 2: I guess I'll have a slice of ay and just
- 10:35Speaker 2: be hungry. But the thought of eating bird a bird, no,
- 10:43Speaker 2: give me the grossed out thinking about it.
- 10:46Speaker 1: White meat, dark meat. I'm a dark meat.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I can only turkey dipped in my mashed potatoes or
- 10:52Speaker 2: else I'm grossed out.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Wow.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, turkey by itself, I get so in my head
- 10:58Speaker 2: about any type.
- 11:01Speaker 1: It needs to be dipped in mashed potatoes, yeah, or something,
- 11:04Speaker 1: But you don't mind, like chicken nuggets, chicken tenders. Those
- 11:06Speaker 1: are fried.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I also like mashed up it like, no, stop, stop stop,
- 11:14Speaker 2: I don't yeah, please don't do that.
- 11:15Speaker 3: And I also feel like it's not chicken, but yeah
- 11:17Speaker 3: it is, isn't it?
- 11:19Speaker 4: Rat?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Anyway, get out of here your conspiracies.
- 11:23Speaker 1: White meat, A dark meat, white white. I'm dark. This
- 11:27Speaker 1: is my dark meat song, and I'm gonna eat it.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I do that every year Thanksgiving. People laugh. I love it. Next,
- 11:33Speaker 1: would you rather host Thanksgiving for fifty people or attend
- 11:36Speaker 1: to Thanksgiving dinner where you don't know anyone?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, host for fifty people. I don't know
- 11:40Speaker 2: anybody is so scary.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Would you rather do all the cooking for Thanksgiving or
- 11:45Speaker 1: all the cleaning up.
- 11:45Speaker 4: After all the cleaning?
- 11:47Speaker 2: I think cleaning, I think cleaning doo.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Would you rather have your thanks Giving meal with no
- 11:51Speaker 1: gravy or no mashed potatoes.
- 11:53Speaker 4: No gravy, no gravy.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I've had nearly every meal without gravy. I'm not a
- 11:57Speaker 1: gravy girly.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Oh wow, I will eat the gravy, but I don't
- 12:01Speaker 2: require grade.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Ye agreed. Would you rather eat Thanksgiving dinner in complete
- 12:05Speaker 1: silence or have to sing every word you say? Throughout
- 12:08Speaker 1: the meal, I feeling I.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Do feel like Hayley's family would love having to sing
- 12:14Speaker 2: the every word. Well, that's probably for her.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Would you rather have Thanksgiving a parade in your backyard
- 12:24Speaker 1: or a Thanksgiving football game in your living room?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Oh, a football game in the living room. I agree,
- 12:30Speaker 2: that's fun.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Like watching the game in your living room and watching
- 12:33Speaker 4: the parade in your backyard.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I'm not sure on this question.
- 12:35Speaker 4: I'm going to dip out of that question sure enough.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Would you rather have leftovers for a week or no
- 12:39Speaker 1: leftovers at all?
- 12:42Speaker 2: No leftovers?
- 12:43Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Would you rather have to cook it? Cook a turkey
- 12:46Speaker 1: without a recipe or make the stuffing without tasting it?
- 12:50Speaker 2: I guess stuffing and say good luck everybody.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Would you rather your dinner be served cold or burnt cold?
- 12:57Speaker 1: I like I like her, I like them, I don't
- 13:00Speaker 1: like style. Would you rather read Thanksgiving deal prepared by
- 13:05Speaker 1: a celebrity chef or a home cooked meal prepared by
- 13:08Speaker 1: your family?
- 13:09Speaker 2: Home cooked meal by my family? Yeah, agreed Cozier.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And would you would you rather accidentally drop the turkey
- 13:15Speaker 1: on the floor and serve it anyway or burn the
- 13:17Speaker 1: dessert and have no backup.
- 13:22Speaker 4: I'd rather burn the dessert and have no backup.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Wow, she'd like it. Eliminates me needing to have a sweet.
- 13:28Speaker 4: No sweet treats, no problem.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Here's your list or that kind and that you were
- 13:33Speaker 1: so excited about, but rapid fire ready, Yeah, here we go.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Turkey, r ham turkey, massed potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet potatoes,
- 13:40Speaker 5: pumpkin pie or pecan pie, pie, stuffing, a cranberry sauce, sauce,

- 15:14Speaker 3: Denny?
- 15:15Speaker 2: Oh my god?
- 15:18Speaker 4: Would there be any other answer? No?
- 15:23Speaker 1: I would like Richard to be it by thanks every dinner.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I think he would tell some really good stories.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Interesting go in Arizona. Oh are you talking?
