- 1:21Speaker 2: I've seen the future, you know what it is?
- 1:22Speaker 7: It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in this beige pajamas,
- 1:24Speaker 7: drinking a banana broccoli.
- 1:25Speaker 8: Shake, singing I'm an Oscar Mayer weed.
- 1:31Speaker 2: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:32Speaker 8: I'm Ryan. I'm Greg.
- 1:34Speaker 4: I'm Fred.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I'm Steve.
- 1:37Speaker 9: I'm Marlena.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And you are listening to a prestigious episode of.
- 1:42Speaker 10: You've joined us on this episode where we kick off
- 1:45Speaker 10: the fourth annual Oscar Meltdown. And as we previously discussed,
- 1:50Speaker 10: you know, the fourth in most series, specifically horror, you
- 1:53Speaker 10: go to space.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So with this much pork, we decided it's pigs in space.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's pretty fancy special effects we have now.
- 2:03Speaker 10: All right. So, again, we have mixed things up. We
- 2:07Speaker 10: are coming to you live via digital recording from Nancy's
- 2:10Speaker 10: Bagel Grounds.
- 2:11Speaker 2: We left my house.
- 2:12Speaker 10: This is the first one of the Oscar Meltdown shows
- 2:15Speaker 10: we've ventured out into the world.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So it's pretty exciting. You guys can hardly contain yourself.
- 2:21Speaker 10: Anyway, so, like most times when we come here, we
- 2:24Speaker 10: will get together, eat way too much pork this time,
- 2:27Speaker 10: and occasionally non-pork-related items, and talk movies, and maybe occasionally.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Snide comments about the Oscars.
- 2:33Speaker 11: So.
- 2:35Speaker 10: I do want to introduce you guys, and then we'll
- 2:38Speaker 10: have to get photos for everyone at home, to our
- 2:41Speaker 10: mascot for this ongoing series. Actually, truthfully, he's always been
- 2:46Speaker 10: our mascot, but I recently found an.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Official physical version for him.
- 2:51Speaker 10: If you remember every other invitation you've ever gotten for this,
- 2:55Speaker 10: they've all involved Babe. So here's our little mascot for
- 3:01Speaker 10: the show. He has been on every invitation for.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Oscar Meltdown we've ever done. And truthfully, if you go back.
- 3:08Speaker 10: To the first time I did the Oscar Mayer party,
- 3:10Speaker 10: he was also on that special invitation. So he has
- 3:14Speaker 10: actually been involved in every Oscar Mayer party Oscar Meltdown
- 3:19Speaker 10: episode ever.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So, babe.
- 3:22Speaker 4: That'll do, pig.
- 3:23Speaker 6: That'll do.
- 3:24Speaker 2: He's our go-to guy.
- 3:25Speaker 9: I went to my cousin's house a couple weeks ago.
- 3:27Speaker 9: The one with the pig. And I wanted to see
- 3:30Speaker 9: the pig because I've grown to like that pig. And
- 3:32Speaker 9: I opened the door and the pig got old and fat.
- 3:35Speaker 9: And I looked at it and said, ew. Closed the
- 3:38Speaker 9: door and walked away.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Was this real or is this a dream?
- 3:42Speaker 2: This is real.
- 3:43Speaker 4: I went there but the The pig got old and fat.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I mean, this was like two weeks ago. This really happened.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I was going to say, I didn't like him anymore, so.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Now we're eating.
- 3:53Speaker 9: I held the pig and ate a piece of ham simultaneously.
- 3:58Speaker 12: Wow.
- 3:59Speaker 13: There is something in the Bible against that.
- 4:01Speaker 8: There really is.
- 4:03Speaker 4: It's like cooking a lamb in the milk of its mother.
- 4:06Speaker 4: You just don't do that.
- 4:08Speaker 2: That's what it said in the recipe, man. You can't
- 4:10Speaker 2: argue with the recipe. That's good lamb.
- 4:12Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 4: It's in the Bible. Don't do it. That's just bad juju.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I still adhere to the rules of the Bible.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I love how you said bad juju.
- 4:21Speaker 10: Bad juju.
- 4:22Speaker 4: That's how it's translated.
- 4:23Speaker 2: That's classy.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Before the record of all the pork everywhere, I am Jewish.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So he says, but he's the one that shows up
- 4:32Speaker 2: with the pork rinds. So, you know.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They're delicious.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Thou shalt not eat pork unless it's delicious.
- 4:39Speaker 10: It's only because it has a split hoof. Right.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I don't understand kosher law.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Cloven hooves.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm not going to go into it because I'll go
- 4:49Speaker 1: on for hours. But kosher law makes me very angry.
- 4:54Speaker 10: Not only are we kosher this year, we're also vegan-friendly.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 1: With kosher, vegan-friendly pork.
- 5:02Speaker 10: Most of the people involved in some way have backed
- 5:04Speaker 10: off of the meat or.
- 5:05Speaker 2: pretend to be fake vegan or fake.
- 5:08Speaker 10: Sort of vegetarian on wednesdays or whatever we've all got
- 5:11Speaker 10: our weird situation now so we're totally vegetarian friendly we're
- 5:17Speaker 10: vegan friendly we're kosher we're all of these things now

- 7:15Speaker 10: Perhaps you haven't seen the menu.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Look around.
- 7:21Speaker 5: All I have is meat.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Listen to me now. Food is better when it's meaty.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Here have a scrumptious creaky.
- 7:30Speaker 15: Like my T-bone sweetie.
- 7:35Speaker 2: My pork may squeal and whistle as I grind them
- 7:38Speaker 2: into sizzle. Now here I'll be meat. All right, that's
- 7:45Speaker 2: the opening of ceremonies, isn't it?
- 7:47Speaker 4: I believe so.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Is the first pork products open?
- 7:49Speaker 9: Allowing for the.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Opening of ceremonies. That's annoying. It is very important that
- 8:13Speaker 1: during the Oscars, a pig is slaughtered every year, and
- 8:19Speaker 1: we have decided to honor that great movie tradition by beginning...
- 8:25Speaker 1: By opening a book. Yes, by opening hummus and pork rinds,
- 8:31Speaker 1: not together, because that's just kind of gross. But let
- 8:37Speaker 1: us begin.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Pork rind hummus.
- 8:42Speaker 9: Ooh.
- 8:43Speaker 4: So Marco Polo.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Brought pork rinds over on the Mayflower, is what you're saying?
- 8:51Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Wait a minute, K-Stew.
- 8:53Speaker 1: He didn't bring them over on the... It was actually...
- 8:57Speaker 1: The Mayflower was made of pork rinds.
- 9:00Speaker 2: That was low-main.
- 9:02Speaker 10: Yeah. This is definitely a K-Stew story, if ever I heard.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Well, it's very much.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Well, I went to the Asian store the other day,
- 9:08Speaker 1: and there were pork rinds there, so... Henceforth, pork rinds
- 9:13Speaker 1: are Asian. And so is Mexican food.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Marco.
- 9:18Speaker 13: I keep wanting to go to like a Korean store
- 9:22Speaker 13: and get those dried minnows that you eat with bean paste.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I actually love those.
- 9:29Speaker 4: I just want to have them sitting around at a party.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I take them to work to freak people out. And
- 9:36Speaker 1: there's actually a Russian dish called taranka that is a
- 9:39Speaker 1: much bigger version of that. And you peel the fish.
- 9:42Speaker 2: It's like a big dried fish.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly what it is. It's delicious, but no
- 9:49Speaker 1: one wants to speak to you after you've had one. Yeah,
- 9:53Speaker 1: for several days.
- 9:55Speaker 2: No one wants to speak to you most of the
- 9:56Speaker 2: time anyway. I don't have to worry about that. I
- 9:58Speaker 2: go for days and don't speak to people. other humans. Yeah,
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's fantastic.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Man, that is the size of an incinerator or something.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Where do you think he gets rid of the body?
- 10:09Speaker 9: God, you and I are thinking alike.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Giant wheels turning.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Is that what makes the bagels that color? Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 10: The dead bodies.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I always thought it was gluten, but it's the dead bodies.
- 10:21Speaker 1: You'd be amazed.
- 10:23Speaker 2: At how much gluten is in a human body. 70% gluten.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Everything is 70%.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Have you ever noticed that?
- 10:42Speaker 4: No matter what it is, 70%.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Pork hors d'oeuvres, everyone. Oh, really? Here's the hors d'oeuvres.
- 10:48Speaker 2: These are the non-breaded models.
- 10:51Speaker 10: So I'll have to go through the rundown of here,
- 10:55Speaker 10: I guess, if you want to pass it on.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Now, which ones are the vegan pork?
- 10:59Speaker 2: All of them.
- 11:00Speaker 8: So is that Spam and Smokies and cheese and ham?
- 11:05Speaker 2: You're leaving stuff out. Wow. Oh, bacon? You don't want any?
- 11:09Speaker 1: So if the pig was vegan.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:12Speaker 1: That counts, right?
- 11:13Speaker 5: Uh-huh.
- 11:14Speaker 4: If a cow is vegan.
- 11:16Speaker 2: It's totally kosher.
- 11:18Speaker 4: But then people say, well, what about, you know, when
- 11:20Speaker 4: it was born and it drank? It's like, yeah, but
- 11:23Speaker 4: its mother was vegan.
- 11:25Speaker 2: So, yeah, for the full rundown, and that's just this one.
- 11:27Speaker 2: There's another one still working back there.
- 11:29Speaker 10: But these are bacon, ham, spam, pepperoni, little smokies, bologna,
- 11:36Speaker 10: and the oh-so-classy hot dogs are mixed in.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's quite a rundown.
- 11:42Speaker 4: So it's bacon. He said O-bacon. I thought it was
- 11:46Speaker 4: like an Irish kind of bacon or something. It's Irish bacon.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Irish bacon is vegan. O-bacon, it's McBacon. Load up on
- 11:53Speaker 2: as much as you want. Irish bacon is totally vegan.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And so is beer.
- 12:00Speaker 2: And mostly potatoes. 70% potato. 70%, yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And the pizza is hot now.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll cut it.
- 12:11Speaker 10: Now, these are just the regular batch of Little Smokies,
- 12:13Speaker 10: but don't be eyeballing this.
- 12:15Speaker 1: This special John Holmes one.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I think Greg was eyeballing, so... It's fine.
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's far too much sausage for me.
- 12:24Speaker 10: We have a special double Little Smoky, so it's not
- 12:28Speaker 10: so little.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Take a picture of it so that you can put
- 12:31Speaker 1: it up.
- 12:31Speaker 2: That's my favorite Rapstar, is Little Smoky.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Little Smoky?
- 12:35Speaker 2: Little Smoky. What's on this pizza, Fred?
- 12:38Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 12:40Speaker 1: It's just a red.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Sauce with onion and garlic and Italian spices, some basil.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Greg, your John Holmes special. Who's going to eat the
- 12:54Speaker 2: John Holmes? You said you wanted it.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I named it.
- 12:57Speaker 8: I don't think I said I wanted it.
- 12:58Speaker 2: You were eyeballing it. You were like, look at that one.
- 13:00Speaker 2: What's up, baby? You're not going to eat that. We'll
- 13:05Speaker 2: post a picture of the John Holmes special for the
- 13:07Speaker 2: Secret Circle. They'll be so excited.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Would it count as geek activity if I told you
- 13:14Speaker 1: all how I spent last weekend making sausage?
- 13:18Speaker 10: Considering we devoted damn near a whole episode to making cheese,
- 13:22Speaker 10: I don't know that it's really any different.
- 13:24Speaker 2: So go to town.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I made two types of sausage for Fat Tuesday. Because
- 13:29Speaker 1: in my house, being Jewish, we celebrate Mardi Gras. Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 1: With lots of pork. Don't tell my rabbi.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I've got them on speed dial.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Shh.
- 13:44Speaker 15: Anyway.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Depends on how much you got on.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So I made two types of sausage. I made andula,
- 13:52Speaker 1: the quintessential Cajun sausage, and I made boudin. Does anybody
- 13:56Speaker 1: know what boudin sausage is?
- 13:58Speaker 9: No.
- 13:59Speaker 1: It's weird because if you don't come from that, Louisiana,
- 14:06Speaker 1: kind of Texas area, you're not going to know what
- 14:09Speaker 1: it is. And I learned from a Texan, which is
- 14:12Speaker 1: really the only useful thing I've ever learned from anyone
- 14:14Speaker 1: from Texas.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Keep in mind, we have a large following in Texas.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Other than the fact that Texas is great. We love Texas.
- 14:24Speaker 1: We love Texas.
- 14:26Speaker 2: They are pretty awesome.
- 14:28Speaker 4: The only things in life that I'm certain of are
- 14:31Speaker 4: death and Texas.
- 14:32Speaker 2: That's right.
- 14:32Speaker 10: Mm-hmm.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And Marlena claims Texas.
- 14:34Speaker 9: I was made in Texas.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Were you?
- 14:38Speaker 2: I was not.
- 14:40Speaker 1: But anyway, boudin is basically a... You cook everything before
- 14:44Speaker 1: you put it into the sausage.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Wow.
- 14:47Speaker 1: So it's pork... I used pork butt, which is actually
- 14:52Speaker 1: a shoulder piece. Oh, stop it, traffic. We record this
- 14:56Speaker 1: thing while we drive.
- 14:58Speaker 9: Anyway.
- 14:58Speaker 2: We've done that.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Anyway, so you have pork butt, you have your spices,
- 15:07Speaker 1: you have jalapeno, and there's actually rice. And it's like
- 15:15Speaker 1: a casserole all shoved into a sausage tube.
- 15:18Speaker 4: And it's delicious.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Sounds good.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and you just eat it by pretty much sucking
- 15:22Speaker 1: it out of the sausage.
- 15:24Speaker 10: Okay.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and the best place to get it, truck stops.
- 15:29Speaker 8: Of course.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 1: On occasion, you'll get it at a nice market, but
- 15:37Speaker 1: the best place to get it is truck stops along
- 15:39Speaker 1: the highway.
- 15:40Speaker 8: Well, my wife and I have decided that, and I'm
- 15:43Speaker 8: sure this is probably universally known to a lot of people,
- 15:46Speaker 8: the seedier the place when it comes to ethnic food,
- 15:49Speaker 8: the better it's going to be.
- 15:51Speaker 2: If it's in a.
- 15:52Speaker 8: Back alley sitting on a five-gallon drum and they're cooking
- 15:56Speaker 8: it over a sterno, it's probably fantastic.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 16:00Speaker 9: My boyfriend and his dad traveled, like, to the very tip,
- 16:03Speaker 9: end of Shawnee, just for fried chicken, like, once a month.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Big Mamas.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Nice.
- 16:09Speaker 4: There they are, the best actresses of 1968.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Oh, are we watching The Red Carpet? We may be.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I thought it was The Oscars. Well, The Red Carpet
- 16:19Speaker 2: was The Oscars.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Well, this is a small Persian film called The Red Carpet.
- 16:26Speaker 4: It's about a young boy in a magical carpet.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Mmm.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I thought it was going to be a community of
- 16:32Speaker 2: age tale about young sexual exploration.
- 16:36Speaker 10: That's actually what I want to do.
- 16:40Speaker 4: That would be a white carpet.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Okay. So here's the next wave. These are the blanketed model.
- 16:47Speaker 12: These are pretty much all of the other options, only
- 16:50Speaker 12: they're now wrapped in blankets.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Everything in a blanket?
- 16:53Speaker 10: So every type of pig in a blanket available. And
- 16:56Speaker 10: it's a weird mixture.
- 16:57Speaker 4: It's sort of a plethora.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Would you say it's a plethora?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yes, a plethora of weird stuff.
- 17:04Speaker 2: How much would you say is in a plethora?
- 17:07Speaker 13: Is one of them Amy Mann's toe?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Actually, this one here kind of looks like it, so
- 17:12Speaker 2: if you can go for that one.
- 17:13Speaker 10: And then, of course, to class things up as much
- 17:15Speaker 10: as we always do on this show, mini corndogs. You
- 17:20Speaker 10: can't go wrong with mini corn dogs.
- 17:26Speaker 2: No, this one is corn breaded. This is bread breaded.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You have pork and you have a stick.
- 17:34Speaker 2: There's no stick in these yet.
- 17:35Speaker 1: You're in charge of your own stick on these.
- 17:39Speaker 2: You're in charge of putting your own stick in. It
- 17:40Speaker 2: says corn and dog. It didn't say corn dog stick.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It's a do-it-yourself kit.
- 17:45Speaker 2: This is for non-slack asses. It's a do-it-yourself corn dog.
- 17:49Speaker 2: They're inbred.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I think Fred should have to eat a corndog.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I'll eat a corndog. I ain't proud.
- 18:05Speaker 2: That's what we do on this show. Breaking vegans every
- 18:08Speaker 2: day of the week.
- 18:09Speaker 8: Last year's episode was my first Oscar party. We had
- 18:13Speaker 8: so many pork products. I don't know if you listened
- 18:15Speaker 8: to the episode. I really did feel sick the next day.
- 18:20Speaker 4: I just listened to it and I felt sick the
- 18:22Speaker 4: next day.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I'm feeling guilty I didn't bring any of that boudin.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, no kidding.
- 18:28Speaker 1: You made sausage and didn't bring it to the Oscar party?
- 18:30Speaker 1: I didn't know. I thought he was kidding when he
- 18:32Speaker 1: said pork. Why do you think I grabbed pork rind?
- 18:34Speaker 4: So this is kind of a.
- 18:36Speaker 1: You know, a box of chocolates. You never know what
- 18:39Speaker 1: you're going.
- 18:39Speaker 9: To get at one of Brian's.
- 18:41Speaker 1: It's, yeah, it's sort of a, it's like mystery date of.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Hors d'oeuvres, you know.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Oh, don't get the dud.
- 18:48Speaker 2: You open the door, you don't know what you're going
- 18:50Speaker 2: to get.
- 18:51Speaker 9: Oh, there's a sock in this one. Yeah, no, literally
- 18:56Speaker 9: last year.
- 18:56Speaker 13: So is Jerry Oldman like with a different shit?
- 18:59Speaker 15: Yeah, I know.
- 19:02Speaker 8: I know.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I went home and took a shower. It was that bad.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And you've been a vegetarian ever since. Until today.
- 19:09Speaker 9: I pretty much have.
- 19:11Speaker 4: So is Gary Oldman not with Green Porn Lady anymore?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Green Porn Lady? Who's that?
- 19:18Speaker 4: Isabella Rossellini. I thought there were a couple. I don't know.
- 19:23Speaker 4: I don't keep up. He's standing with some other chick now.
- 19:27Speaker 4: People are wearing dresses. I can tell. The problem is
- 19:37Speaker 4: that the rest of the world can't tell.
- 19:39Speaker 16: Like this one.
- 19:40Speaker 4: This is a hideous dress.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Is it?
- 19:42Speaker 13: Yeah, it's a terrible dress.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Well, that's Kristen Wiig, right?
- 19:46Speaker 9: Uh-huh.
- 19:47Speaker 4: She looks great, though. She looks great, but it's a
- 19:51Speaker 4: stupid dress.
- 19:51Speaker 13: It's got that sad, drab color, and it's got all
- 19:55Speaker 13: that poofery down on the bottom that just looks.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, poofery.
- 19:59Speaker 1: If she weren't famous, she'd look delusional.
- 20:02Speaker 2: She kind of is, and I like her, but she's
- 20:04Speaker 2: a little bit delusional.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Oh, but it's not nearly as bad as this teal
- 20:08Speaker 4: monstrosity over here. Look at that thing. It's like she's
- 20:12Speaker 4: trying to be a beach.
- 20:15Speaker 2: That is our Joan Rivers. See, that's what I was
- 20:17Speaker 2: going to say.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I was like, I knew we'd be.
- 20:18Speaker 4: There's a green one over here. Who the fuck is that?
- 20:22Speaker 1: That would be Oscar.
- 20:24Speaker 4: That's Madonna's mother.
- 20:25Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Did anybody see that they're making Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter
- 20:31Speaker 1: into a movie?
- 20:32Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Tim Burton. They've already got posters out at theaters. Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Oh, that's a Penelope Ann Miller. Yeah, previews.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:43Speaker 8: I thought at first it was going to be horrible.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I think it might be fun.
- 20:46Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I didn't like the book, frankly.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Wasn't that a project they were talking about on Party Down?
- 20:56Speaker 2: Didn't his friend.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Was trying to get him the part. Probably. It was
- 21:02Speaker 4: like a joke project and now they're actually doing it.
- 21:04Speaker 1: It looked really slick.
- 21:06Speaker 9: That's what I was so confused about. I was like,
- 21:08Speaker 9: I've heard about this being like a movie before. I
- 21:11Speaker 9: got really confused. What's that one thing that Johnny Depp's
- 21:14Speaker 9: supposed to do? It's a Tim Burton movie and hasn't
- 21:16Speaker 9: come out yet.
- 21:18Speaker 2: He's doing Dark Shadows.
- 21:20Speaker 4: When the fuck is that coming out?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Really?
- 21:22Speaker 1: Dark Shadows?
- 21:22Speaker 2: Now, are they going to do it?
- 21:26Speaker 1: They already did. It's already been through theaters.
- 21:29Speaker 2: What's that?
- 21:30Speaker 1: The Rum Diaries.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Was he the guy in that?
- 21:33Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Johnny Depp.
- 21:33Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I really wanted to see it, and it was gone.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I was literally like, I went away for a weekend,
- 21:39Speaker 1: and it's out of theaters.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody saw it.
- 21:41Speaker 10: I just watched it this week, actually. Did you?
- 21:44Speaker 1: It's... It's on Netflix yet.
- 21:46Speaker 2: It's really uneven to me.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Like, it's... It was Thompson's first book.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Yeah. But, I mean, it's not.
- 21:54Speaker 10: Well, just as a project, though, it's like, it seems
- 21:57Speaker 10: like it needs to pick a direction.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Like, it's kind of like, they.
- 22:01Speaker 10: Get really serious in moments, and then there's other times
- 22:04Speaker 10: when they're, like, doing total slapstick, you know?
- 22:07Speaker 9: Who do people wear it?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm still not finding anything. I love when they...
- 22:13Speaker 2: It's like curtains.
- 22:14Speaker 8: When they look like shit, but they're talking about what
- 22:16Speaker 8: other people are wearing.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I haven't seen the movie. I'm speaking strictly from the book.
- 22:20Speaker 9: I mean, that looks like a.
- 22:21Speaker 1: But it was... Like a... The way the book itself
- 22:24Speaker 1: was written, it was like... I love how.
- 22:28Speaker 8: Marlena's talking about what people are wearing, and she's got
- 22:30Speaker 8: a napkin around her.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Why do these people see Oscars?
- 22:35Speaker 9: It's a fucking Oscar.
- 22:37Speaker 8: Well, there's nobody there. They've got her like two alleys away.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Up here.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Who are the guys starting to get heating up there?
- 22:45Speaker 2: She's a good reporter. See, you just learned to plan around.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Oh, yeah?
- 22:51Speaker 9: But, I mean, I've never met her in person, so
- 22:54Speaker 9: I didn't want to be like, hey, Greg's wife, right?
- 22:58Speaker 10: I've heard some horrible stories about you.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I've done that before. Oh, yeah, she's always there. How
- 23:09Speaker 2: come I never see her? I'm usually there.
- 23:14Speaker 8: She does a lot of her office work.
- 23:16Speaker 10: Out of there.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I really like the cappuccinos.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I think I saw you go past one time.
- 23:21Speaker 10: I love the fact that they're named after a movie
- 23:25Speaker 10: about the most movie you saw.
- 23:28Speaker 2: They're not, actually. That's just because you're a perv.
- 23:33Speaker 9: It's okay.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I could have gotten through this whole podcast without referring
- 23:36Speaker 1: to the marquee you saw it in. You'd just be wrong.
- 23:38Speaker 2: I doubt it. Yeah. I really doubt it.
- 23:41Speaker 9: I love that movie, but I just didn't really want
- 23:43Speaker 9: to see Jeffrey Rush's bare ass.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Don't lie. You know you didn't.
- 23:47Speaker 8: That part is worn out on her tape.
- 23:52Speaker 2: It's better than the piano. Hey, Harvey is a cool dude.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Come on now.
- 23:57Speaker 8: Oh, I'm sure if I were 60 and a female,
- 24:00Speaker 8: I'd probably like Harvey Keitel somewhat.
- 24:01Speaker 9: My mom is like Harvey Keitel.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Who doesn't?
- 24:05Speaker 4: I like, what's her name?
- 24:08Speaker 2: Holly Hunter?
- 24:08Speaker 4: Holly Hunter, yeah. She's cute as hell. There's something about her.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Even when she got all hard and biker looking.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Which she kind of is. She was still kind of cool.
- 24:17Speaker 8: She got all Linda Hamilton, didn't she?
- 24:18Speaker 4: Yeah, she kind of did.
- 24:19Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Linda Hamilton was kick your ass hot.
- 24:23Speaker 2: At the time, I liked her a little bit chubbier.
- 24:26Speaker 1: You'd be crying and scared and saying, please don't hit
- 24:31Speaker 1: me again. But I really don't need to tie these
- 24:35Speaker 1: two references together to talk about the Marquis du Sade
- 24:38Speaker 1: the next time I'm talking about Linda Hamilton beating me.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Let's not put that in there.
- 24:46Speaker 10: We're opening with that now.
- 24:49Speaker 2: We're definitely putting that in there.
- 24:53Speaker 1: That's the preview.
- 24:54Speaker 2: That's my favorite part.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And this is why I'm invited back. Not because I
- 25:00Speaker 1: watched the movie.
- 25:01Speaker 2: But because you say incriminating things.
- 25:04Speaker 1: We're going to talk the whole time and then Can you.
- 25:07Speaker 9: See the stain on my shirt?
- 25:09Speaker 1: No, not at all. Maybe if I were at a
- 25:12Speaker 1: different angle.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Circle the table.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I don't know. Does it involve Linda Hamilton kicking me
- 25:21Speaker 1: in the teeth?
- 25:23Speaker 10: Maybe.
- 25:23Speaker 2: It depends on what you're into.
- 25:25Speaker 1: You know, Jeffrey Rush.
- 25:27Speaker 13: Mr.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Mickey Rooney, best supporting actor candidate for the Black Stallion.
- 25:33Speaker 5: Here's Rod Steiger, previous Oscar winner for In the Heat
- 25:36Speaker 5: of the Night. Justin Henry, Best Supporting Actor nominee for
- 25:40Speaker 5: Kramer vs.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Kramer, and the.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Youngest nominee in the long history of the Academy Awards.
- 25:47Speaker 18: My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R. My bologna
- 25:54Speaker 18: has a second name, it's M-A-Y-E-R. Oh, I love to
- 25:59Speaker 18: eat it every day, and if you ask me what
- 26:03Speaker 18: I'll say, cause Oscar Mayer has a way with B-L-O-G-N-A.
- 26:10Speaker 12: Oscar Mayer, the first name in bologna.
- 26:18Speaker 11: This is John Wilson, the creator of the Razzie Awards,
- 26:30Speaker 11: and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 26:32Speaker 8: I think I love.
- 26:37Speaker 15: You.
- 26:43Speaker 5: Sally Fields, nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for Norma Rae.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Two Best Actress Award winners, Goldie Hawn and Liza Minnelli.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Miss Hawn for Cactus Flower and Miss Minnelli for her
- 26:55Speaker 5: performance in Cabaret.
- 26:57Speaker 6: Mr.
- 26:57Speaker 5: George Hamilton, star of Love at First Bite. Best Supporting
- 27:02Speaker 5: Actress nominee for her role in Starting Over, the gorgeous
- 27:04Speaker 5: Candace Bergen.
- 27:07Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, I understand and believe the pig is
- 27:09Speaker 9: going to grow up, but it was December 25th to, like,
- 27:13Speaker 9: It was only two months.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, two months.
- 27:14Speaker 4: So I was kind of.
- 27:15Speaker 9: Shocked at how, like.
- 27:16Speaker 1: There's a reason why pigs are slaughtered and turned into pork.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Because they're so adorable.
- 27:22Speaker 1: At first. And then they get ugly real quick.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Except for you, babe. We love you, babe.
- 27:28Speaker 9: Well, it's a teacup pig, so it was.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 27:32Speaker 4: Aren't those expensive?
- 27:34Speaker 1: Did I ever tell you about the time that I
- 27:36Speaker 1: was chased by the pot-bellied pig.
- 27:38Speaker 2: On my bicycle?
- 27:40Speaker 4: There was a hot belly pig.
- 27:41Speaker 1: On your bicycle?
- 27:42Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I was riding my bicycle.
- 27:45Speaker 4: And it was chasing you?
- 27:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:47Speaker 1: It was really weird because I went to work, right?
- 27:53Speaker 1: And I had my bike in the back of the car.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Picture a hot.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Belly pig riding a bike.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And I'm just like, I'm going to go ride my bike.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So I start riding my bike, and suddenly I'm riding
- 28:03Speaker 1: through this neighborhood right behind the office, and there's a
- 28:06Speaker 1: pot-bellied pig chasing me.
- 28:07Speaker 9: It's probably the same pig that attacked me.
- 28:10Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 28:11Speaker 9: I'm afraid about pig phobias.
- 28:12Speaker 1: This was off-preston.
- 28:16Speaker 4: They're territorial, aren't they?
- 28:18Speaker 2: They really are. They're like ostriches.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Oh, don't even get me started. I know, those things.
- 28:23Speaker 2: It's like... Gangs, man.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it was me and three fat kids from New Jersey. And, well, okay,
- 28:33Speaker 1: the ostrich comes up to the fence, and it looks
- 28:35Speaker 1: at me.
- 28:36Speaker 6: And it starts doing this.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Oh, they do that.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I think to myself, well, I know
- 28:42Speaker 1: what I'll do. I'll be like Jane Goodall in The Chimps,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and I'll just mimic the ostrich's movement. So I look
- 28:47Speaker 1: at the ostrich, and I start doing this.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Did he have the little Richard Pompadour thing going?
- 28:55Speaker 1: A little bit, yeah. But the thing shrieks.
- 28:58Speaker 8: By the way, he's bobbing his head for anyone wanting to.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Know what it looks like. No, I'm saying you're bobbing
- 29:03Speaker 2: your head and he knows what you're doing.
- 29:05Speaker 4: He does this, and I do this, and then he
- 29:07Speaker 4: does this.
- 29:09Speaker 8: And then the next part of the story is in
- 29:11Speaker 8: sign language.
- 29:13Speaker 17: And then Helen Keller said... Well, anyway, little did I know...
- 29:19Speaker 17: That's an aggressive movement to an ostrich. So the thing
- 29:23Speaker 17: shrieks and jumps at me like one of those raptors
- 29:25Speaker 17: from Jurassic Park.
- 29:26Speaker 2: You didn't know that?
- 29:28Speaker 10: Not at the time. Oh.
- 29:29Speaker 8: So anyway, so.
- 29:30Speaker 1: The three fat kids from New Jersey scream and start running.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Have you ever seen fat kids.
- 29:35Speaker 4: And that's an aggressive thing in fat kids from New Jersey.
- 29:38Speaker 4: I don't know if you knew that.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I didn't know that at the time.
- 29:41Speaker 4: When they scream and run away, that's aggression.
- 29:44Speaker 3: It is.
- 29:44Speaker 4: They're challenging you.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I have never seen three fat kids from New Jersey
- 29:49Speaker 1: move so quickly. I've never seen three fat kids from
- 29:52Speaker 1: New Jersey.
- 29:54Speaker 2: You don't have any listeners in New Jersey, do you?
- 29:56Speaker 2: Because everyone's so sick and in shape in New Jersey.
- 29:59Speaker 2: They're not only weighed down by their massive chains.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they really are.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Sorry, New Jersey listeners.
- 30:06Speaker 1: And for the record, there's not many fat people in
- 30:09Speaker 1: New Jersey. Have you ever watched that Jersey Shore show?
- 30:13Speaker 2: I've never heard of it. What is that?
- 30:14Speaker 1: There's no fat people, except for, what's her name?
- 30:17Speaker 2: They all have eight hats, right?
- 30:19Speaker 1: She's not fat anymore?
- 30:20Speaker 9: She weighs 98 pounds.
- 30:21Speaker 1: She's anorexic. Way to work your way to the grave, Snooki.
- 30:28Speaker 1: We're with you.
- 30:29Speaker 2: You're not just sticking a foot in, you're diving in.
- 30:31Speaker 15: I'm diving in.
- 30:34Speaker 1: So anyway more pleasant but yeah so i was nearly
- 30:40Speaker 1: killed by an ostrich and then when i was in
- 30:42Speaker 1: canada years later with same.
- 30:44Speaker 12: Ostrich followed you there this is like jaws 4 you're
- 30:48Speaker 12: in a dark alley one night and there's a there's
- 30:52Speaker 12: an ostrich in a trench coat remember me This time
- 30:57Speaker 12: the advantage is mine.
- 30:59Speaker 1: They have this big, like, it's called a safari where
- 31:03Speaker 1: you can drive through and like monkeys will sit on
- 31:06Speaker 1: your car.
- 31:08Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 31:09Speaker 1: It's basically a zoo where they're like animals in cages.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Screw that.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:15Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
- 31:16Speaker 1: We're going to let the animals run around. Yeah. So anyway, so, uh,
- 31:20Speaker 1: you know, we're driving through and here's the highlights. The
- 31:24Speaker 1: vulture stared at us. Um, A monkey jumped on my
- 31:28Speaker 1: wife's rearview mirror and started masturbating while looking at her.
- 31:33Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 31:34Speaker 1: It was really awesome.
- 31:35Speaker 2: There's nothing I can say that's nice at this point.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I'm just going to shut up.
- 31:38Speaker 8: Not at all.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 31:40Speaker 1: So anyway, and then we're driving through this African savannah,
- 31:44Speaker 1: and I see this car in Canada.
- 31:46Speaker 12: That's where they keep it now, an African savannah.
- 31:49Speaker 2: That's where they keep it.
- 31:53Speaker 1: And like, it's surrounded by three ostriches. And there's this
- 31:58Speaker 1: guy in there. The dumbass is laughing. And I kid
- 32:01Speaker 1: you not, there's an ostrich pecking on his window and
- 32:05Speaker 1: he's laughing. And my wife looks at me and she says, oh,
- 32:09Speaker 1: let's stop. I screamed like a little girl and just
- 32:14Speaker 1: laid my foot on the gas. I almost hit a
- 32:17Speaker 1: water buffalo.
- 32:21Speaker 13: That reminds me of that story, and I may have
- 32:23Speaker 13: mentioned it before, but I couldn't think of who it was.
- 32:25Speaker 13: It was the cartoonist Linda Barry was on a safari
- 32:30Speaker 13: when they were suddenly surrounded by gorillas, and their guide said, no,
- 32:34Speaker 13: just everybody be still. This is, like, really a serious situation,
- 32:38Speaker 13: because if they get angry, they will attack us, and,
- 32:41Speaker 13: you know, there's nothing you can do. And she was
- 32:44Speaker 13: just petrified, and everybody just sat there, and all she
- 32:49Speaker 13: could think was, that everybody she knew and had ever
- 32:52Speaker 13: known was going to say, that's how she would have
- 32:56Speaker 13: wanted to go.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Ripped to shreds by a gang of gorillas.
- 33:02Speaker 8: That's Linda.
- 33:03Speaker 4: That's what she would have wanted.
- 33:04Speaker 9: She was always a free spirit.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Isn't that how we all really wanted to go?
- 33:08Speaker 1: For the record, have I ever ripped apart by a
- 33:11Speaker 1: gang of wild ostriches? No, that's not the way I
- 33:14Speaker 1: wanted to go. I really didn't.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Oh, I thought you were going to do the line
- 33:18Speaker 4: from Butch Cassidy and say, Kill them.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Yeah, please kill them.
- 33:22Speaker 1: You can eat them, actually. If that happens, have an
- 33:26Speaker 1: ostrich-themed Oscar party.
- 33:29Speaker 10: They're very lean, so we'll be a little healthier.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I eat it every chance I get because one dead
- 33:35Speaker 1: ostrich is a good ostrich.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Retribution.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Is it evil to have an urge to someday punch
- 33:41Speaker 4: an ostrich in the head?
- 33:42Speaker 2: I think it is, actually.
- 33:43Speaker 4: I would just like that.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I'm not saying we don't all have that.
- 33:47Speaker 9: I have this fantasy of riding emus from place to place.
- 33:50Speaker 9: My future goal of having a farm.
- 33:56Speaker 4: Emus are the ones that really have the little Richard hairdo,
- 34:01Speaker 4: I think.
- 34:02Speaker 1: You're going to be ripped to shreds.
- 34:05Speaker 9: They don't even have arms.
- 34:05Speaker 1: That's how it's going to end. It's not the arms
- 34:08Speaker 1: you have to worry about. It's the giant raptor claws.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Haven't you seen Jurassic Park?
- 34:15Speaker 2: They have arms.
- 34:16Speaker 1: They do, but they're little stubbly arms. All that's going
- 34:20Speaker 1: to do is creep you out. So anyway... I'm.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Looking at Rooney Mara. Sorry, I was distracted. She has
- 34:30Speaker 2: a nice dress. Fancy hair.
- 34:32Speaker 10: Is it a.
- 34:33Speaker 1: as long as it's not an ostrich in disguise.
- 34:35Speaker 2: No, I don't think Bjork is there. That's Jennifer Lopez.
- 34:41Speaker 8: No, they switched.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Believe me, I know Jennifer Lopez. You can spot that ass.
- 34:46Speaker 1: From his face. Yeah, she's on that sitcom.
- 34:49Speaker 8: What's her name?
- 34:50Speaker 1: How I Met Your.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Your Uncle.
- 34:54Speaker 8: Ostrich?
- 34:54Speaker 1: Is that the flute girl?
- 34:57Speaker 2: I've got a different stream going. I'm looking at Mara here.
- 35:00Speaker 8: No, what's her name?
- 35:01Speaker 2: Who is.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Is that Cancer Boy?
- 35:04Speaker 4: That's the weirdest superhero I've ever heard of. It's Cancer Boy!
- 35:11Speaker 2: Cancer Boy!
- 35:14Speaker 4: Who has no special powers, but elicits sympathy from strangers.
- 35:22Speaker 4: This looks like a job for Cancer Boy.
- 35:26Speaker 10: For the sidekick heart attack man!
- 35:29Speaker 1: He dresses like Moby, that's right.
- 35:33Speaker 4: I was thinking Caillou.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Can't go wrong.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Caillou grows up to be.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I hate Caillou.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Cancer boy.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I always think that every time I have to watch it.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Come on, help me out.
- 35:47Speaker 4: What's her name? J-Lo.
- 35:49Speaker 2: It's J-Lo. I said Jennifer Lopez like 15 minutes ago. Yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 2: I wasn't listening to you.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I'm not connected.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Are you talking about the girl in the picture?
- 35:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's J-Lo.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I know that. It's a butt chart.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I can tell from the back.
- 36:01Speaker 13: The front tells me nothing.
- 36:04Speaker 5: I can't, I mean.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Way to zoom in on her ass. Thank you, whoever's
- 36:07Speaker 2: working on the camera.
- 36:08Speaker 9: That could be Jennifer Lopez. That could be anyone.
- 36:11Speaker 10: No, that's Jennifer Lopez.
- 36:12Speaker 2: No, no, no. That's Jennifer Lopez. I'm turning around just
- 36:15Speaker 2: to show her ass. It's like, Thank you, cameraman.
- 36:23Speaker 9: It looks like she is having a hard time walking.
- 36:26Speaker 14: I like that dress.
- 36:28Speaker 4: It's kind of a Morticia dress.
- 36:30Speaker 8: It is.
- 36:30Speaker 2: It's kind of nice.
- 36:31Speaker 9: It's like a Grecian dress.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Speaking of that, who's her husband? Mark Anthony. Did you
- 36:37Speaker 1: know he has a clothing line?
- 36:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that doesn't surprise me.
- 36:41Speaker 1: If you want to look like a homeless junkie, you
- 36:44Speaker 1: can wear Mark Anthony.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Well, I thought it was really funny that as soon
- 36:49Speaker 2: as they broke up and or got divorced or whatever
- 36:52Speaker 2: yeah they're not.
- 36:52Speaker 10: Together anymore but as soon as they did they both
- 36:55Speaker 10: had commercials on TV immediately like he had the clothing
- 36:58Speaker 10: line and like the next day she had or vice
- 37:01Speaker 10: versa she had the car commercial I was just like
- 37:03Speaker 10: are they both just announcing they're back on the market
- 37:06Speaker 10: like through advertising we generate buzz with the divorce and
- 37:11Speaker 10: then we can get or that I'm not sure I
- 37:13Speaker 10: thought they were just like looking for dates be like
- 37:15Speaker 10: look how hot I.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Am in this new car Isn't she doing the Fiat?
- 37:20Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 37:20Speaker 9: I can't imagine her chugging a cast.
- 37:22Speaker 13: She's standing there now like a girl at an auto
- 37:25Speaker 13: show or something.
- 37:28Speaker 4: A boat show. A butt show.
- 37:31Speaker 9: That's what she does now.
- 37:31Speaker 2: The new Elante.
- 37:33Speaker 10: All right, I say we take a break and come
- 37:37Speaker 10: back with more of this crazy coverage.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I need to provide more cooling to the containment chamber.
- 37:43Speaker 4: I don't know about you.
- 37:45Speaker 2: What are you going to do?
- 37:47Speaker 9: Replace his dryer.
- 37:48Speaker 5: And yet another Best Supporting Actress candidate in Barbara Barry
- 37:52Speaker 5: for Breaking Away. One of Hollywood's busiest actresses, Miss Jill Klayberg,
- 37:57Speaker 5: an Oscar nominee for Starting Over.
- 38:02Speaker 19: Oh, hi, everybody. It's me, Tommy Wiseau from The Room.
- 38:06Speaker 19: And me, Nicholas Cage from Ghost Rider. And we're here
- 38:08Speaker 19: to talk to you about something very important. Isn't that right, Nicholas?
- 38:11Speaker 14: Oh, that's right.
- 38:12Speaker 19: Bill and Chris have been telling you about OTC Live
- 38:14Speaker 19: for a long time.

- 38:34Speaker 19: they answer very important questions.
- 38:36Speaker 14: Like, how is your sex life? And other important questions
- 38:38Speaker 14: such as, how to get burned. So check in every
- 38:41Speaker 14: Sunday night at 6 p.m. at www.tv.outsidethecinema.com.

- 39:10Speaker 7: our frequent updates. That's moviemeltdown.com.
- 39:14Speaker 1: It's part of your problem.
- 39:22Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:22Speaker 5: You haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are
- 39:25Speaker 5: answered in the movies.
- 39:27Speaker 3: And now, on with the show.
- 39:33Speaker 5: All tonight, on the 52nd Annual Academy Awards.
- 39:38Speaker 20: We have to have our meltdown awards, so I decided
- 39:46Speaker 20: ours are going to be the Foilers.
- 39:49Speaker 2: That is brilliant. It's twofold.
- 39:52Speaker 10: Not only is it a major award, but it's also
- 39:56Speaker 10: foil so you can take home leftovers from our ridiculous
- 40:01Speaker 10: amounts of food.
- 40:04Speaker 2: The foilers. The foilers. It also seems like it needs
- 40:08Speaker 2: to be our new band name. I feel like that.
- 40:10Speaker 9: Might be good.
- 40:10Speaker 1: No, the band name should be Foiler Alert.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Oh, shit.
- 40:16Speaker 2: That's it. Show's over.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Jesus Christ.
- 40:19Speaker 9: There's nothing left to say.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Want some bacon?
- 40:22Speaker 9: I ate almost an entire container of hummus.
- 40:25Speaker 2: There's two more over there.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Hummus doesn't have any calories.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I checked.
- 40:31Speaker 4: I looked that up.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Anything vegan doesn't have calories.
- 40:33Speaker 13: Also, if you wake up in the middle of the
- 40:35Speaker 13: night and go get a snack, you're off the clock.
- 40:39Speaker 4: It doesn't count.
- 40:40Speaker 2: You're going to have brunch, wagger.
- 40:44Speaker 13: My favorite line ever was, there is no free brunch.
- 40:49Speaker 13: And I can't explain what it is about that. I
- 40:51Speaker 13: just think that's like a miniature book.
- 40:55Speaker 4: It says everything. Is that Julia Roberts?
- 41:00Speaker 2: Is that Firth?
- 41:01Speaker 4: Yeah, Colin Firth. And is that Julia Roberts? No, it
- 41:05Speaker 4: can't be.
- 41:05Speaker 9: That dress is horrible.
- 41:07Speaker 4: Yeah, that's pretty horrible.
- 41:08Speaker 18: Oh, my God.
- 41:09Speaker 2: That woman was excited.
- 41:11Speaker 14: Ew, what's wrong with it?
- 41:12Speaker 4: Oh, look, they have a gold foily.
- 41:15Speaker 8: Yeah, they've got a foily, right?
- 41:17Speaker 2: They wish. They've got that cheap gold aluminum foil.
- 41:24Speaker 4: I think that stuff is carcinogenic.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I think their kind comes from Aldi's.
- 41:30Speaker 9: Hey, there's nothing wrong with Aldi's.
- 41:32Speaker 2: I go to Aldi's, but, you know.
- 41:34Speaker 9: No, there probably is a lot wrong with Aldi's.
- 41:36Speaker 4: There's Meryl.
- 41:37Speaker 9: I'm clicking with Meryl.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Wearing her drapes.
- 41:40Speaker 8: I swear that's Edgar Winter.
- 41:42Speaker 9: Who is that really?
- 41:46Speaker 10: I like that there's no actual coverage of the event.
- 41:49Speaker 10: It's just outside the event. Like, they won't let these
- 41:51Speaker 10: losers inside.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Actually, I don't think they licensed it this year.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Probably nobody can except for ABC.
- 41:59Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 10: I just think it's funny that they're all billing it
- 42:05Speaker 10: as coverage, like it's legit coverage.
- 42:08Speaker 9: They're like, oh, look.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Well, I think it's a big deal. You know, their
- 42:13Speaker 4: ratings have been dropping just like a rock. No, the Oscars.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I thought they came back to the Oscars.
- 42:22Speaker 9: Well, they say it's the second most watched thing in
- 42:24Speaker 9: America next to the Super Bowl.
- 42:26Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 42:27Speaker 4: Well, David Mamet argued that the Oscars and the Super
- 42:29Speaker 4: Bowl were the only two holidays that we really had
- 42:33Speaker 4: left because everything else It was just like President's Day.
- 42:36Speaker 4: It was just an excuse to have another day off work.
- 42:40Speaker 4: It wasn't really about anything. I would argue that Thanksgiving
- 42:45Speaker 4: still works for some people.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Just because it's about food.
- 42:48Speaker 8: Well, that's my favorite holiday. There's really, I mean, the
- 42:52Speaker 8: only commercialism is food. Now they're making it the Black
- 42:55Speaker 8: Friday thing, which kind of sucks. But it's about.
- 42:59Speaker 2: And then they.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Made it the Rebecca Black Friday.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Dance, great. Yeah. Ah, yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 4: No big deal.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Ooh, it's hand lines.
- 43:09Speaker 11: Cool.
- 43:10Speaker 9: Or maybe that's part of the dress.
- 43:12Speaker 2: It's not. Or she's just a freak. Whatever.
- 43:15Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 43:17Speaker 13: So, my wife was saying today, I was saying how
- 43:20Speaker 13: the Oscars, you know, going back to Avatar versus the
- 43:23Speaker 13: Hurt Locker.
- 43:24Speaker 4: The Hurt Locker, I read, was, well, Avatar was a
- 43:28Speaker 4: huge money maker.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Sure.
- 43:30Speaker 4: And the Hurt Locker, I heard, was adjusted for inflation.
- 43:35Speaker 4: The lowest grossing best picture ever.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I can believe that.
- 43:40Speaker 4: And it's also odd because the directors had been married
- 43:46Speaker 4: to each other.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Probably the first time that's ever happened.
- 43:49Speaker 13: Yeah, you know, Cameron, and he was married too, and
- 43:54Speaker 13: my wife said, oh, feel bad I can't remember her name,
- 43:57Speaker 13: and I said Cameron Diaz.
- 43:59Speaker 4: But I don't know. It's as close as I can get.
- 44:03Speaker 4: I don't remember her name. But that's, like, where the
- 44:07Speaker 4: Oscars have gone now is everybody's watching the big blockbusters
- 44:12Speaker 4: that are not going to be Oscar-nominated pictures. They're all,
- 44:16Speaker 4: you know, like, properties or reboots.
- 44:19Speaker 10: That's why they expanded the number of, yeah, to ten.
- 44:22Speaker 2: To ten or whatever now.
- 44:23Speaker 13: Because most of the movies, everybody, well, not everybody, but
- 44:27Speaker 13: mostly teenagers, go see all the series.
- 44:31Speaker 6: And the reboots.
- 44:31Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Not a lot of people are watching the Oscar nomination.
- 44:36Speaker 4: So now, in my lifetime, the Oscars have somehow become
- 44:41Speaker 4: too legit.
- 44:43Speaker 10: Right. To quit.
- 44:44Speaker 2: I was waiting for it.
- 44:45Speaker 13: They're actually legit now because they still want to nominate
- 44:50Speaker 13: good real movies.
- 44:52Speaker 2: And God forbid.
- 44:53Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 44:54Speaker 2: But this time I feel it.
- 44:55Speaker 18: And I can't deny the fact that you like me
- 44:58Speaker 18: right now.
- 44:59Speaker 1: You like me.
- 45:02Speaker 10: All right, so now this year we've sort of upped
- 45:05Speaker 10: the ante. We've taken it upon ourselves to do our
- 45:09Speaker 10: own awards.
- 45:11Speaker 8: Sponsored by Reynolds.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I don't think it's Reynolds.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Generic.
- 45:16Speaker 4: I think the Oscars this year are sponsored by Fancy Feast.
- 45:20Speaker 10: As long as you can get them to send us money, whatever.
- 45:24Speaker 8: Speaking of sponsors, I have to tell this story. I
- 45:27Speaker 8: was listening to an interview with Pee Wee Herman on NPR.
- 45:30Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 45:31Speaker 8: And he was talking about in right at the peak,
- 45:34Speaker 8: it might've been like 86, 87. He had convinced Purina
- 45:39Speaker 8: to put out a kid's breakfast cereal. That was the
- 45:44Speaker 8: first ever human food made by Purina. It was going
- 45:48Speaker 8: to have the checkered box on it and everything. And
- 45:51Speaker 8: it was going to be marketed as like peewee chow.
- 45:55Speaker 8: And it was going to be, you know, the, the,
- 45:58Speaker 8: the commercial was going to be at the mom in the,
- 46:00Speaker 8: you know, the, the 50s dress and high heels, pouring
- 46:03Speaker 8: a bowl of peewee chow for the children on the floor,
- 46:06Speaker 8: and the kids were crawling up to the bowl and
- 46:08Speaker 8: eating it like dogs.
- 46:12Speaker 2: This sounds like peewee. Purina was on board.
- 46:15Speaker 8: They'd got the box design, everything, and they went to
- 46:18Speaker 8: testing with children on tasting the food, and he said
- 46:22Speaker 8: it tasted like Trix because that was his favorite kid's cereal.
- 46:25Speaker 8: He always wanted a cereal that tasted like Trix.
- 46:28Speaker 4: And the kids hated it. What was wrong with Trix?
- 46:31Speaker 8: Apparently, the kids thought it was too sweet. But it
- 46:34Speaker 8: tasted identical to Trix.
- 46:37Speaker 2: What's wrong with these kids? Right. And so they just
- 46:41Speaker 2: dropped the whole thing.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Does that appear in a make?
- 46:45Speaker 2: They do now. It was the first.
- 46:47Speaker 9: That's why they took the Trix, right?
- 46:49Speaker 2: I'm sure they make plenty of them.
- 46:50Speaker 8: It's General Mills. Sorry for the peewee thing. I listened
- 46:54Speaker 8: to it and I was like, that would have been
- 46:56Speaker 8: so awesome.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Kind of.
- 46:57Speaker 8: To have a cartoon where kids are crawling around like
- 47:00Speaker 8: dogs eating peewee cereal off the floor.
- 47:02Speaker 9: I don't even see this.
- 47:05Speaker 10: I don't even see this cartoon. I see it live
- 47:10Speaker 10: action like the show. No, it was going to be real.
- 47:12Speaker 10: It was going to be real kids.
- 47:16Speaker 13: Creepy but they weren't going to use the real cereal
- 47:20Speaker 13: just for.
- 47:20Speaker 4: Filming they were going to use a cartoon.
- 47:24Speaker 13: Just for the scene just eat the cat show we'll
- 47:26Speaker 13: get the real cereal later.
- 47:29Speaker 10: All right so on to our fun foil filled award
- 47:32Speaker 10: here so this year we've decided to do the meltdown
- 47:36Speaker 10: awards and come up with a few different categories it
- 47:39Speaker 10: ended up being more than i expected And throw it
- 47:42Speaker 10: out there. And just to get the technical stuff out
- 47:44Speaker 10: of the way, all voting is provided by the Movie
- 47:47Speaker 10: Meltdown Secret Circle.
- 47:49Speaker 2: So, first of all, why haven't you joined if you're
- 47:51Speaker 2: not one of them?
- 47:53Speaker 10: And to get the rest of the official secrecy announcement
- 47:56Speaker 10: out of the way, the Meltdown Awards balancing process is
- 48:01Speaker 10: done on behalf of the Movie Meltdown Academy of Motion
- 48:03Speaker 10: Picture Arts and Sciences.
- 48:05Speaker 2: The balancing leader, Brian, is overseeing the tabulation and will
- 48:07Speaker 2: be the only person in the world who will know
- 48:09Speaker 2: the identity of the Meltdown Awards winners before they are
- 48:12Speaker 2: announced live on this podcast that you are now listening
- 48:15Speaker 2: to a recorded version of. There you go. Got that
- 48:18Speaker 2: out of the way.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yay.
- 48:19Speaker 10: So, you always have to have that or you can't.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Go on with the awards show.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Which account confirmed this?
- 48:24Speaker 2: Movie Meltdown.
- 48:25Speaker 6: Okay.
- 48:26Speaker 2: So, let's bring up the questions.
- 48:28Speaker 8: First category, Billy Crystal.
- 48:32Speaker 2: No. He's not the first category.
- 48:34Speaker 4: Best Billy Crystal by a guy named Billy Crystal.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Not Billy Crystal. He's the worst Billy Crystal these days.
- 48:43Speaker 8: Sandra Bullock.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Well, she won the best Billy Crystal.
- 48:46Speaker 8: The best Billy Crystal.
- 48:48Speaker 10: First up is the most kick-ass trailer for a film
- 48:51Speaker 10: in 2011.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Nice. Which I thought was, you know, kind of.
- 48:55Speaker 8: And that goes to Kick-Ass.
- 48:56Speaker 10: Again, we sort of like the other, the stuff that
- 49:00Speaker 10: they don't go into on this here show that we're
- 49:03Speaker 10: kind of sort of not really watching tonight. So, yeah,
- 49:06Speaker 10: we went a different direction on some of these. So
- 49:08Speaker 10: the most kick-ass trailer for a film in 2011, we've
- 49:12Speaker 10: got several. Again, many of these are sort of a tie.
- 49:16Speaker 10: So if, Greg, you said maybe we can be the tiebreaker.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 49:20Speaker 10: Guys want to round out what you think. But on
- 49:22Speaker 10: this one we have four different options. And I'll keep
- 49:25Speaker 10: the voting.
- 49:26Speaker 2: I didn't tell the voters that I was going to
- 49:28Speaker 2: out them.
- 49:29Speaker 10: So I think I'm going to keep it all anonymous
- 49:31Speaker 10: as you're supposed to in these secret ballot sort of things.
- 49:36Speaker 10: Among them we have Killer Elite. Sucker Punch, Super 8,
- 49:41Speaker 10: and Hunger Games.
- 49:44Speaker 8: Do we comment on what we thought before that?
- 49:47Speaker 2: We might as well. I mean, that's the votes we
- 49:49Speaker 2: got anyway. Nobody got a winning amount. These are all
- 49:54Speaker 2: the ones that sort of.
- 49:55Speaker 9: I've only seen the trailer for Sucker Punch.
- 49:57Speaker 10: Which is kind of awesome.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I almost am leaning towards that one. As awesome as
- 50:03Speaker 2: Super 8 is.
- 50:06Speaker 8: I would say even the trailer is as good as
- 50:08Speaker 8: the movie is. Which one? For Sucker Punch.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Sucker Punch. Well, most people hated Sucker Punch, so I
- 50:13Speaker 2: don't know if that's saying anything.
- 50:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:16Speaker 10: To me, I think the trailer probably works regardless where
- 50:20Speaker 10: the movie doesn't work for a lot of people. It's
- 50:22Speaker 10: almost like the optimum situation for a trailer. It makes
- 50:27Speaker 10: you watch that and go, oh, shit, I need to
- 50:29Speaker 10: see that.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 10: And then you get there and a good portion of
- 50:32Speaker 10: the people went, what the fuck was that?
- 50:33Speaker 2: So.
- 50:34Speaker 10: In a way, it works better as a trailer than
- 50:37Speaker 10: it does as a movie for most people.
- 50:39Speaker 2: I still kind of liked a lot of what was
- 50:41Speaker 2: going on.
- 50:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm with the nay camp. That movie just bored me.
- 50:49Speaker 4: And it got to the point where they had the.
- 50:51Speaker 13: the plot to steal the guy's knife why does she
- 50:54Speaker 13: have to dance for the guy to steal his knife
- 50:56Speaker 13: right what the fuck is this movie about anymore.
- 50:59Speaker 8: Because all the guys go when he should dance apparently
- 51:02Speaker 8: because then they just cut to some fucking video game
- 51:06Speaker 8: segment like you can't film a woman dancing.
- 51:09Speaker 10: But the dancing is in it with like a because
- 51:13Speaker 10: even the dancing is representative representative of something else I
- 51:17Speaker 10: guess everything about it is way too layered almost for
- 51:20Speaker 10: its own.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Damn good right I don't know.
- 51:23Speaker 4: It is a great trailer, though.
- 51:25Speaker 2: It is a great trailer. Because you don't know what
- 51:27Speaker 2: the hell it is.
- 51:28Speaker 10: It's just those images. And you're like, this looks awesome.
- 51:31Speaker 10: Even if you're totally frustrated by it.
- 51:33Speaker 8: You're like, android robots and Nazis and girls with guns.
- 51:37Speaker 2: It looks fucking awesome. Dragons and dragons.
- 51:42Speaker 8: What's bad about it?
- 51:44Speaker 2: In the trailer, nothing. It works. And it's all like.
- 51:48Speaker 10: bjork music isn't it don't they play army of me
- 51:50Speaker 10: yeah oh even in the trailer like that even oh yeah.
- 51:53Speaker 8: It probably would have made a better bjork video it
- 51:57Speaker 8: kind of is yeah it's pretty awesome just don't give
- 52:01Speaker 8: it don't give it the whole and i will say
- 52:04Speaker 8: i thought that since we're talking about the movie a
- 52:07Speaker 8: little bit i thought the intro of the movie the
- 52:09Speaker 8: story It was kind of pretty well done.
- 52:13Speaker 2: It's so segmented. I mean, everything about the movie is segmented.
- 52:16Speaker 10: So to me, yeah, it's like the intro is a
- 52:19Speaker 10: music video, but it's a really well-financed music video. And
- 52:23Speaker 10: even as you get into the video game segments, like
- 52:26Speaker 10: the first several, like to me, they just wore thin.
- 52:29Speaker 2: And I think I said this on the episode.
- 52:30Speaker 10: It's like the first couple, I was like, oh, all right,
- 52:32Speaker 10: this is kind of cool, especially the samurai one. And
- 52:35Speaker 10: then the Nazis steam-powered.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Whatever the hell they were. Like, they're kind of cool.
- 52:39Speaker 8: Which was just fun, yeah.
- 52:40Speaker 2: But midway in, I was like, all right, we've already
- 52:42Speaker 2: seen all this before. It's like it becomes the same thing.
- 52:45Speaker 4: You're waiting for a turn on your friend's Xbox.
- 52:48Speaker 2: It is. That's what it is.
- 52:50Speaker 4: I thought I was watching a movie, but no.
- 52:53Speaker 10: So, I don't know, I'm kind of, as much as
- 52:55Speaker 10: that scene is awesome in Super 8, to me, you
- 52:58Speaker 10: can watch Super 8 and get it in the movie,
- 53:00Speaker 10: and it delivers a good movie along with it.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Again, people, like, have issues with the end, but.
- 53:05Speaker 8: I was a little frustrated by the Super 8 trailer, so.
- 53:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it does not tell you what you
- 53:11Speaker 2: want it to tell you, really, so... Are you freaking
- 53:15Speaker 2: out about Babe?
- 53:16Speaker 9: I wanted to, like, play with it and then.
- 53:20Speaker 10: Babes walking towards her.
- 53:23Speaker 8: So I would go with Sucker Punch, though. I mean,
- 53:25Speaker 8: it is a good trailer.
- 53:27Speaker 2: I think for trailer's sake. I don't know.
- 53:28Speaker 10: I'm leaning towards that one. I don't know if we
- 53:31Speaker 10: want to pinpoint the exact winner. These were just sort
- 53:33Speaker 10: of throwing it out there to the listeners and the
- 53:36Speaker 10: Secret Circle in particular to see what they come up with.
- 53:40Speaker 4: I say let's break the tie.
- 53:42Speaker 2: So Sucker Punch.
- 53:43Speaker 4: Sucker Punch.
- 53:43Speaker 8: All right, Sucker Punch is a good trailer. Because that
- 53:46Speaker 8: movie's not going to win any other award.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and again, I just.
- 53:49Speaker 4: It's a really good trailer.
- 53:51Speaker 2: I also watched Killer Elite this past week, and to me,
- 53:56Speaker 2: it's a good movie.
- 53:56Speaker 10: Like, I kind of remember the trailer, but I don't
- 53:58Speaker 10: remember the trailer selling me as much as the movie
- 54:02Speaker 10: was pretty good, you know? It's like, the trailer just
- 54:04Speaker 10: kind of looked like another action movie. I think what
- 54:06Speaker 10: sold me was the cast more than.
- 54:08Speaker 9: The movie was out in 2011? Yeah.
- 54:11Speaker 8: Yeah, and Hunger Games isn't out yet.
- 54:13Speaker 2: But the trailers are.
- 54:13Speaker 8: But the trailers. I tell you what, the book and
- 54:16Speaker 8: the actress, not hearing which actress was going to be
- 54:20Speaker 8: in the movie, I didn't need to see a trailer.
- 54:23Speaker 10: I've just sort of seen maybe that very first, I
- 54:26Speaker 10: don't know if there's more than one out now, but
- 54:28Speaker 10: I've only seen bits and pieces of that one. But
- 54:30Speaker 10: even then, I don't know that I'm sold with the
- 54:33Speaker 10: trailer as much as now I kind of want to
- 54:35Speaker 10: see the movie, which is what the trailer is there
- 54:37Speaker 10: to do.
- 54:37Speaker 2: But I don't know. It's still... I'm undecided on that one.
- 54:41Speaker 8: I just hope they don't twilight that movie.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:43Speaker 8: That's what I'm afraid of.
- 54:44Speaker 9: I know that Hunger Games is a book series by
- 54:47Speaker 9: Suzanne Collins, but I have no idea what it's about.
- 54:51Speaker 4: No idea.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Have you seen Battle Royale?
- 54:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:52Speaker 4: Battle Royale.
- 54:53Speaker 2: It's kind of like that.
- 54:56Speaker 8: It's kind of the twilight of Battle Royale.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Battle Royale is awesome. We'll get you a copy. Battle
- 55:02Speaker 2: Royale is awesome. Illegal? No, you can buy it legally now,
- 55:07Speaker 2: and they added CG Blade.
- 55:09Speaker 15: Oh, really?
- 55:10Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 55:10Speaker 10: Wow.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Thanks for adding cheesy CG blood.
- 55:14Speaker 10: Okay, so the next category is the most misleading trailer
- 55:18Speaker 10: for a film in 2011.
- 55:21Speaker 2: So to me, this was the other option.
- 55:24Speaker 10: This was the, okay, I got suckered in with this
- 55:27Speaker 10: awesome trailer in the movie, so you could say sucker punch.
- 55:31Speaker 2: Nobody did, though. Of the options we got, actually, this
- 55:34Speaker 2: one we don't even get our vote. I mean, we can.
- 55:36Speaker 10: Make our bitchy points. But we don't get one because
- 55:39Speaker 10: we do have a winner in this one. The other
- 55:42Speaker 10: options we got were Hugo and Cowboys and Aliens.
- 55:46Speaker 2: But the winner was Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Which I actually liked.
- 55:52Speaker 4: Because it turns out you should be afraid of the dark.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Yeah, first of all, it's a lie as you watch
- 55:59Speaker 2: the movie.
- 55:59Speaker 10: But yeah, one of the people commented here, it was
- 56:05Speaker 10: misleading because it was produced by Del Toro and it
- 56:08Speaker 10: was shit.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Thank you to that. Secret Circle member.
- 56:14Speaker 8: Secret Circle member.
- 56:16Speaker 2: So, yeah. Oh, let's see.
- 56:18Speaker 10: I'll see if we have any other smart-ass comments on
- 56:21Speaker 10: some of these along the way.
- 56:24Speaker 8: Yeah, what is life without smart-ass comments?
- 56:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what we base this entire show around.
- 56:29Speaker 9: In my mind, I like to think that I'm a
- 56:31Speaker 9: nice person, and then sometimes I step outside myself just
- 56:34Speaker 9: for a second, analyze the situation. I'm just like, I'm
- 56:37Speaker 9: a douche.
- 56:38Speaker 13: Yeah, I've had that realization sometimes. Just last week, I
- 56:41Speaker 13: was like, God, I'm an asshole.
- 56:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:45Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Wow.
- 56:47Speaker 4: And I didn't mean to be. I wasn't really thinking that, but, yeah,
- 56:52Speaker 4: think about it.
- 56:53Speaker 2: I'm an asshole. We could have told you that. Yeah. So, yeah,
- 57:00Speaker 2: the next one up, and this is one I've always.
- 57:02Speaker 10: Been pretty partial to as a thing, as a physical
- 57:06Speaker 10: thing in this case, most awesome movie poster. We had
- 57:10Speaker 10: a few that weren't sure. Some of these people are
- 57:12Speaker 10: just like, I don't know, leave me alone. So this
- 57:15Speaker 10: one was Thor, Sucker Punch, Captain America, and The Dark
- 57:19Speaker 10: Knight Rises. Half of these I'm not really sure I remember,
- 57:24Speaker 10: so I don't know if I feel qualified to break
- 57:28Speaker 10: the tie, so we can leave that.
- 57:30Speaker 8: One across the board. Again, Sucker Punch has got chicks
- 57:33Speaker 8: and swords and guns.
- 57:35Speaker 10: Sucker Punch also had a run of like seven different
- 57:38Speaker 10: posters at least.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Like each of the girls had their own poster.
- 57:42Speaker 9: I think Emily Browning is still pretty good.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Have you seen that new movie?
- 57:46Speaker 9: The movie where she's like.
- 57:46Speaker 2: You get to see all of her prettiness. Sex addict
- 57:48Speaker 2: or something? No, she's a prostitute, but her deal is
- 57:53Speaker 2: she only... Is she a drug? Well, no, she only
- 57:56Speaker 2: has sex with them when she's asleep or something.
- 58:00Speaker 8: That's creepy.
- 58:00Speaker 4: A somnabulatute.
- 58:03Speaker 10: You're pretty proud of yourself for that, aren't you?
- 58:06Speaker 2: I don't know. Anyway, she's naked. That was my point.
- 58:15Speaker 8: I'm still going to pick lemony snickets, and I'm going
- 58:17Speaker 8: to be weird about it.
- 58:18Speaker 13: Sucker Punch, I mean, as soon as you saw that, though,
- 58:21Speaker 13: it's like, oh, they made a movie based on Sailor Moon.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of.
- 58:27Speaker 9: Did Tuxedo Mask come and save their asses?
- 58:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 58:32Speaker 8: I don't remember.
- 58:33Speaker 9: That was like the opposite of girl power at that show.
- 58:37Speaker 2: Girls getting their ass kicked power.
- 58:39Speaker 9: It was like girls getting their ass kicked every time
- 58:41Speaker 9: a tuxedo mask came and saved the day. I'm just like,
- 58:44Speaker 9: this is like the worst message to be giving like
- 58:48Speaker 9: adolescent girls.
- 58:50Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 58:51Speaker 4: Adolescent girls. They're so messed up.
- 58:56Speaker 9: Yeah. Good luck, you two.
- 59:01Speaker 8: He's already passed it. I'm in trouble. My daughter is
- 59:06Speaker 8: generally annoyed by girls her age already. so I'm pretty happy.
- 59:10Speaker 10: All right, I like this next category. The next one
- 59:15Speaker 10: is the most questionable career decision made by an actor, actress,
- 59:19Speaker 10: or filmmaker in 2011.
- 59:20Speaker 9: Oh, wow.
- 59:20Speaker 2: That's a good category.
- 59:21Speaker 4: I thought that was a good category. I think let's
- 59:23Speaker 4: give that category an award. I made it up. The
- 59:26Speaker 4: best I'd like.
- 59:27Speaker 10: To thank the people who made the show possible, me.
- 59:31Speaker 4: He's a foiler.
- 59:32Speaker 10: And the few suckers that show up here to yammer
- 59:36Speaker 10: on with me every week.
- 59:37Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 59:38Speaker 8: I want to hear the nominations.
- 59:39Speaker 2: So here's the ones we got. Adam Sandler for not dying.
- 59:45Speaker 4: Right.
- 59:47Speaker 8: Or making that Jack and Jill movie.
- 59:50Speaker 2: Mostly for making that movie.
- 59:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 59:53Speaker 2: For not dying.
- 59:53Speaker 10: For still existing and continuing to produce these.
- 59:56Speaker 2: Horrible, horrible movies. Next up, Jim Carrey for Mr. Popper's Penguins. Yeah.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: To me, that's not that questionable. That seems right up
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: his alley.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: All the crap he keeps doing. That's where he is now. Yeah,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: that's exciting.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm thinking the first one's way in the lead.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Yeah, he's, I mean, yeah, Jim Carrey's just doing what
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Eddie Murphy was doing five, six, eight years ago, you know?
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: He's just moved into the kid territory.
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: You say Eddie Murphy, and I just cringe.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. It's sad.
- 1:00:27Speaker 10: Next, this one I like, but I've got to give
- 1:00:29Speaker 10: him credit. This one's right up there. Neil Patrick Harris
- 1:00:33Speaker 10: for not only one, but Beastly and the Smurfs.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: You know, I can't argue that. That's questionable.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: I watched the Smurfs. I watched the Smurfs twice.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: That's your own fault.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: I worked with the Smurfs. The Smurfs were friends of mine.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Oh, yeah?
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: And you, sir.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:00:55Speaker 8: It was so bad.
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:00:57Speaker 8: I thought it was going to be bad.
- 1:00:58Speaker 10: Speaking of trailers, just the trailer was cringeworthy. I can't
- 1:01:03Speaker 10: imagine making it through the whole movie. So why Neil
- 1:01:06Speaker 10: Patrick Harris signed on.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: He owed somebody money.
- 1:01:09Speaker 10: And this one is also a pretty good option, as
- 1:01:12Speaker 10: we discussed on an entire episode. Wes Craven for adding
- 1:01:16Speaker 10: to the Scream franchise.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Questionable. Doesn't surprise me, though. Doesn't surprise me.
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: No, it wasn't.
- 1:01:27Speaker 10: Based on the fact that he'd already made three, I
- 1:01:29Speaker 10: guess it shouldn't really be.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: That question. Well, I don't know.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: The first one is Adam Sandler for not dying.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: That's how they put it.
- 1:01:39Speaker 8: We could change it to the Jack and Jill.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: I mean, we could just have Adam Sandler for everything
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: he did last year.
- 1:01:44Speaker 8: For continuing to work.
- 1:01:45Speaker 13: Yeah, I think if you factored Jack and Jill in
- 1:01:48Speaker 13: with that, that gives it like that nose length that
- 1:01:53Speaker 13: might make the difference.
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: Why is it Zooey Deschanel for the new.
- 1:01:57Speaker 10: Girl on there?
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Because this isn't the Emmys.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Yeah, but she's still an actress and she's still I guess.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Her moving to TV or just that the show's pretty lame?
- 1:02:07Speaker 10: Which one are you questioning? Well, most people are doing
- 1:02:11Speaker 10: that now. You can switch back and forth. You couldn't
- 1:02:13Speaker 10: do that like 15 years ago.
- 1:02:16Speaker 8: Everybody else on that show's funny.
- 1:02:18Speaker 10: Yeah, the rest of the cast. She's the least interesting
- 1:02:21Speaker 10: person on there.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: She really is.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: And she seems like so fake. Like none of it.
- 1:02:26Speaker 10: Like she's... So over-the-top goofy that I don't buy.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Any of it.
- 1:02:30Speaker 9: She said she's happy to play a character that's more
- 1:02:32Speaker 9: like her than any other.
- 1:02:33Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:02:34Speaker 9: So you suck really bad for that?
- 1:02:37Speaker 8: You know, she is very nice in small doses. Like,
- 1:02:43Speaker 8: if you can handle her in a movie, you're like, oh,
- 1:02:47Speaker 8: she's nice. And then, no, not every week.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: And within a movie, they usually.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: She's like a panda sneezing. You can watch it for
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: a minute or two.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: They usually reel her in in a movie, you know?
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: It's like there's a director going, no, no, no, we
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: got a plot here.
- 1:03:02Speaker 13: I do think that may be it, is if the character,
- 1:03:06Speaker 13: she feels it's like her, then you're not putting that
- 1:03:09Speaker 13: effort that makes something have some life to it.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: And it doesn't feel like there's any direction to the show.
- 1:03:16Speaker 10: It's like every week she just walks into it, and
- 1:03:19Speaker 10: there's not really anything.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Again, the stories going on are usually the other characters.
- 1:03:23Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: I question that.
- 1:03:25Speaker 8: Well, she's like, is she the executive producer on that?
- 1:03:28Speaker 10: I think she's at least producer credit. It's her idea.
- 1:03:33Speaker 10: I'm sure all of this came about because of her.
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: So is that all the nominees?
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we have Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Neil Patrick Harris,
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: and Wes Crake.
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: What about The Ward?
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: What?
- 1:03:46Speaker 8: Isn't that what it was called?
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: The Ward? That's John Carpenter. Exactly.
- 1:03:50Speaker 9: The award.
- 1:03:53Speaker 8: Why isn't that not there?
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Because it's not on. I'm just telling you what's on
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: the list.
- 1:03:59Speaker 10: You can question that they left something off.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: What about Ian.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: And Natalie Portman for making one of those?
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: For all of those. I figured she would come up.
- 1:04:06Speaker 10: When I came up, no, for me, it's what's the
- 1:04:09Speaker 10: fucking medieval movie?
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Your Highness. That's the one. Oh, I was just like, what? Really?
- 1:04:18Speaker 10: Like, I can almost see her wanting to do a
- 1:04:20Speaker 10: normal romantic comedy.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: Like, she's kind of done that before, and she's in
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: that situation. But not that kind. Not that dumb.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: And the thing is, I don't know. I don't mean her.
- 1:04:33Speaker 13: Like, I don't mean she's sexless or messed up or anything.
- 1:04:37Speaker 13: But it just seems like as an actress... She doesn't
- 1:04:40Speaker 13: want to share that side of herself. She's not convincing
- 1:04:43Speaker 13: in that kind of role.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: And so the question is, why does she want to
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: do it? And it's weird that she and Jackie were
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: in that movie.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Yes, they were in Black Swan together.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: And then both of them make these.
- 1:05:01Speaker 13: Friends with benefits kind of movies.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: And Jackie is just so at home.
- 1:05:09Speaker 13: Doing that yeah just so totally uh she was born
- 1:05:12Speaker 13: to do that i guess and uh.
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: And natalie it's like she's no she's just not comfortable
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: playing that role.
- 1:05:19Speaker 10: And i don't know why she would do it to
- 1:05:20Speaker 10: me again if we're going with people left off that
- 1:05:23Speaker 10: was the first one i thought like okay everybody's going
- 1:05:25Speaker 10: with her because in this past like span of i
- 1:05:28Speaker 10: guess they all hit in 2011 but yeah it's the.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: The strings with benefits, whatever the fuck that comedy... No
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: strings attached. No strings with sleeping with your friend. Yeah.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: That stupid romantic comedy.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: I mean, the whole concept, it's just like that one
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: Seinfeld episode.
- 1:05:46Speaker 14: That's all it is.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: It's a comic premise that you can watch old Seinfeld
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: reruns and there it is.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: If it was just that, I'd let it slide. But
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: it's also Your Highness, which.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: Looked horrible.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: And Thor. And Thor was marginal.
- 1:06:02Speaker 10: People kind of liked it, but I'm just like, you
- 1:06:04Speaker 10: go from winning an Oscar to being in this goofy
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: superhero movie.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: That's a long time ago. It's a couple years ago.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: I didn't even know she was doing those things. I'm
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: not following her that much.
- 1:06:19Speaker 13: I just think it's odd for somebody to choose to
- 1:06:22Speaker 13: do stuff that they just But then, I don't know,
- 1:06:25Speaker 13: I guess you think maybe you're going to find something
- 1:06:30Speaker 13: that you, like when Michelle Pfeiffer did Catwoman, that seemed
- 1:06:36Speaker 13: to bring out a side of her that you had
- 1:06:38Speaker 13: never seen before.
- 1:06:38Speaker 10: That's true.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: Until then, she seemed like she was a student actress.
- 1:06:42Speaker 13: She was just turning it in for a grade and
- 1:06:45Speaker 13: doing a pretty good job. But when she did Catwoman,
- 1:06:48Speaker 13: it seemed like, no, I put on this cat suit
- 1:06:52Speaker 13: and I feel something.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: And elevated that movie. He seemed to really get into it.
- 1:06:57Speaker 10: I still think that's a great movie and gets completely
- 1:07:00Speaker 10: sort of thrown in with all the other Schumacher bad men.
- 1:07:03Speaker 10: But I think the first two are pretty good and
- 1:07:05Speaker 10: she's one of the main reasons.
- 1:07:07Speaker 14: Oh, she was great.
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: Danny DeVito didn't get enough screen time.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: He was crazy. And is great. Again, that one I
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: think gets overlooked.
- 1:07:15Speaker 13: Although I still would have liked to have just seen
- 1:07:18Speaker 13: Danny DeVito as the Penguin without the whole fish stuff.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: That's just the direction. You could really picture him when
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: you first heard Danny DeVito.
- 1:07:30Speaker 14: You're like, yes!
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: You're like, oh yeah. Finally, the casting.
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: It was an interesting direction, but I still missed it.
- 1:07:39Speaker 9: I like that even when Danny DeVito is a cartoon,
- 1:07:42Speaker 9: they still make him short.
- 1:07:45Speaker 8: And creepy.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: The Lorax seems a little creepy to me.
- 1:07:48Speaker 8: You know, I don't see why the Lorax... I mean,
- 1:07:52Speaker 8: the Lorax movie, original or short, was fine. And I
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: know they're capitalizing on it, but it seems like they're
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: throwing in a whole bunch of side story that doesn't exist.
- 1:08:04Speaker 10: Talk about the Grinch movie. That's what they do with these.
- 1:08:08Speaker 10: I guess Cat in the Hat was probably like that.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: I don't know. I didn't watch that.
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: I know the one I really love is Horton.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: I still haven't seen that one.
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: It was a very existential movie.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: That one, they seemed like they followed a little more
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: of the story. And it was all right. So are
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: we just giving this one a tie four-way?
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: Four-way tie.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: I question all of them.
- 1:08:32Speaker 9: I think it's Neil Patrick Harris.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Smurfs is pretty good. Smurfs and Beastly. I avoided that one,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: but I forgot he was even in that.
- 1:08:40Speaker 8: If we're going to throw Neil Patrick Harris under the bus,
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: Hank Azaria for being Gargamel, that was pretty.
- 1:08:46Speaker 10: Hank Azaria has done a lot of stuff.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Look at the shit he's played.
- 1:08:51Speaker 10: And he turns in some great performances, but sometimes he
- 1:08:54Speaker 10: turns up in Shit that he does not have any
- 1:08:57Speaker 10: business being in.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: He is way more talented than the stuff he does.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: But.
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: But Neil Patrick Harris is still Doogie anyway, no matter
- 1:09:04Speaker 8: how many. And he does Harold and Kumar movies.
- 1:09:07Speaker 10: Yeah, but that's sort of what made him cool again.
- 1:09:10Speaker 10: He broke back through at that time.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: His Travolta moment.
- 1:09:14Speaker 10: Yeah, so you kind of got to give him points
- 1:09:17Speaker 10: for almost being cool and still doing them, even though
- 1:09:20Speaker 10: now he's huge. Again, I always thought that was kind
- 1:09:23Speaker 10: of cool on his part, but I don't know. Whatever
- 1:09:26Speaker 10: you guys think.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: And the foiler... goes to everybody who made a really
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: questionable career decision.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Give it to all of them or blame Neil Patrick Harris.
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: They can share it. They'll work out the custody rights.
- 1:09:43Speaker 10: We can tear up the foil into four little pieces
- 1:09:45Speaker 10: and hand it to all of them.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: Just whoever has leftovers to take home will take home
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: the foil.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: That's what it comes down to. Yeah.
- 1:09:51Speaker 10: So this one I thought was kind of interesting specifically
- 1:09:55Speaker 10: because the.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Way that it occurred to me to word it.
- 1:09:58Speaker 15: Um.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: The movie moment that made you say, oh, my. You
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: specifically have to.
- 1:10:04Speaker 10: It has to be in George Takei style. So basically the,
- 1:10:10Speaker 10: I guess, most shocking moment, either, you know, just content-wise, violence, nudity, language,
- 1:10:19Speaker 10: whatever it is that, you know, would make you react
- 1:10:22Speaker 10: in that way.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:10:23Speaker 10: So the shocking moments here we have.
- 1:10:28Speaker 10: Michael Shannon's breakdown at the community dinner in Take Shelter.
- 1:10:33Speaker 10: And another one thrown in there is for the goofy
- 1:10:35Speaker 10: and gory side of the end moment with Libby in Super.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I'll leave it at that. Wow.
- 1:10:43Speaker 8: Before you said anything, I was going to say the
- 1:10:47Speaker 8: entire movie of Super.
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: But, okay. That was a super movie.
- 1:10:54Speaker 10: The next one is, I think he said, I was
- 1:10:57Speaker 10: like two-thirds of the way in, two-thirty minutes or less,
- 1:10:59Speaker 10: and still hadn't laughed.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: That was shocking.
- 1:11:03Speaker 10: And also, this is another standard one for this past year,
- 1:11:07Speaker 10: the special scenes in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll give you that.
- 1:11:13Speaker 10: That's a harsh scene, specifically the first one. Everybody kind
- 1:11:16Speaker 10: of likes the second one. But, yeah, that one's.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: Kind of rough.
- 1:11:20Speaker 9: What, the anal raping scene?
- 1:11:22Speaker 10: No, I was just talking about when he finds the
- 1:11:25Speaker 10: cat and puts it in the window and feeds it
- 1:11:27Speaker 10: and pets it.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: That's a fun scene.
- 1:11:30Speaker 16: I don't really think you can have an oh my
- 1:11:36Speaker 16: moment on a movie that's a remake and the scene
- 1:11:38Speaker 16: in the original movie is way more brutal.
- 1:11:41Speaker 9: Than the scene in the American movie.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: The scene in the original is more brutal?
- 1:11:46Speaker 8: I only saw the original and that's one reason why
- 1:11:49Speaker 8: I don't want to see.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: The American original. I saw the original.
- 1:11:52Speaker 10: If you haven't seen the other one, how would you
- 1:11:54Speaker 10: not still be able to have that reaction to it?
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: It's still pretty hard to watch. I mean, I don't know.
- 1:12:04Speaker 10: Again, it couldn't shock me that it was coming because
- 1:12:07Speaker 10: I'd heard about it for like two years, you know?
- 1:12:10Speaker 9: I think like the biggest, oh my, and I mean this, God,
- 1:12:14Speaker 9: I might get hate mail from women for now until forever.
- 1:12:18Speaker 9: But I'm just thinking, like, really? That girl's never had
- 1:12:20Speaker 9: it in the butt before? Like, that was my only
- 1:12:23Speaker 9: moment for that.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: That was Marlena. Feel free to address all your responses.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: Doesn't mean she wanted it unwillingly, even if that had happened.
- 1:12:34Speaker 9: I'm not advocating rape in any way. Like, that guy
- 1:12:37Speaker 9: deserved to have shit tattooed.
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: On him, but, I mean.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: Amongst other things.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: So, wait a minute. I got distracted by the red carpet.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: You're advocating rape or not?
- 1:12:49Speaker 9: I'm not advocating.
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: She's advocating early entrance to anal sex.
- 1:12:54Speaker 9: Yes, that's what I'm advocating.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Because if you.
- 1:12:56Speaker 8: Ever were raped, it would make it easier.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Is that what I'm getting at?
- 1:13:01Speaker 8: Well, that's logical.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: Good Lord, that's our oh my moment. I'm kidding. I'm
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: just moving on. Dr.
- 1:13:09Speaker 10: Erskine's death in Captain America, the first Avenger.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Okay, that works. Kind of. It's been a while, but
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: I guess that was sort of... I don't know.
- 1:13:20Speaker 10: I kind of thought that was coming eventually, or you
- 1:13:22Speaker 10: wouldn't get to the next stage of that type of movie.
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: I don't know if I qualify to sit on this panel.
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: I haven't seen.
- 1:13:26Speaker 13: Any of these movies.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I haven't seen many either.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: You're not really voting.
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: That's why the.
- 1:13:32Speaker 8: Trailer one was such a good discussion for us, because
- 1:13:34Speaker 8: we watch a lot of trailers.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Yeah. That's why I wasn't saying we get to vote.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: I mean, like, some of them were. I was letting
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: them know.
- 1:13:40Speaker 13: One Oscar-nominated movie I watched last night.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: Others I watched and don't even remember.
- 1:13:48Speaker 13: Like Tree of Life, I don't really remember anything about that.
- 1:13:52Speaker 13: I remember I just thought, oh, really?
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: Okay. Some of the scenes were good, but I don't know.
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: God.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: I forgot Brad Pitt was in it.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: Tree of life?
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: Yeah, he was the dad. It's like, oh, yeah. He
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: was the dad in that.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: Or was he the dinosaur? I don't know.
- 1:14:18Speaker 9: Was there an astronaut or something?
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: He had a lot of patents. He was an engineer.
- 1:14:24Speaker 13: And for some reason, I don't know if they really
- 1:14:26Speaker 13: understand patent law, because it seemed like he was getting
- 1:14:29Speaker 13: a patent in a courtroom, which you don't know.
- 1:14:32Speaker 12: No.
- 1:14:34Speaker 13: It didn't seem like he had any litigation, like somebody
- 1:14:37Speaker 13: was infringing on a patent.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: So why was he in a courtroom? You don't do that.
- 1:14:44Speaker 8: Because it's patent law, and all law takes place in
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: a courtroom.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Well, he's got a point. It says law right there.
- 1:14:49Speaker 13: He had, like, what, 19 patents and couldn't sell any
- 1:14:52Speaker 13: of them?
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: Which is, you know, that does happen.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: It's usually how it works.
- 1:14:56Speaker 10: Okay, the last one in that one is in Drive,
- 1:15:00Speaker 10: and it's not, everybody freaked out about the elevator scene.
- 1:15:04Speaker 10: I thought this one specifically is the Albert Brooks and
- 1:15:10Speaker 10: Bryan Cranston scene, which I'll give them credit.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: That was, you kind of didn't see that specific moment coming.
- 1:15:17Speaker 10: I don't know, you knew something bad was happening, but
- 1:15:20Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: It still sort of is a, I don't know.
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: It's kind of slow for a movie called Drive.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: There's some driving. Some. So, yeah, I don't know. Those
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: are our options we have on this one. Kind of
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: leaning towards Super on that one. Yeah.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: That's really a moment.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: You didn't necessarily see coming.
- 1:15:42Speaker 13: I haven't seen the American whatever that movie is.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: Dragon Tattoo.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: Yes, Dragon Tattoo. But I kind of.
- 1:15:51Speaker 13: want to rob it because it's just gotten so talked
- 1:15:54Speaker 13: about and so hype so i would vote for super
- 1:15:58Speaker 13: which i did see.
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: And yeah i even though you get the.
- 1:16:02Speaker 13: Gist of the movie yeah and you know stuff is
- 1:16:04Speaker 13: coming i mean i would even say that hitting the
- 1:16:08Speaker 13: guy with the wrench who's in butting in line That
- 1:16:12Speaker 13: kind of takes your breath away.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: You know it's coming.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: I think her reaction to all the violence, too, is just... Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: Wow.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: It's demented.
- 1:16:25Speaker 8: It's so much more demented than you think of... I mean,
- 1:16:29Speaker 8: you compare it, obviously, to Kick-Ass. And you think, oh,
- 1:16:32Speaker 8: this is so horrible, what he's doing to his own
- 1:16:34Speaker 8: daughter and all this stuff.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: But her, she just is... is sick.
- 1:16:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: They're both sick.
- 1:16:43Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: They're both very, very sick.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: And kind of weirdly believable.
- 1:16:46Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:16:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: Like, oh, I've been waiting to do this. Don't we
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: all kind of have that? Or maybe it's just me.
- 1:16:52Speaker 13: The car scene when she arrives with the car.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: Oh, man. And just, again, the laughter, the pointing of laughing.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: You know what?
- 1:17:04Speaker 13: A number of moments in that movie remind me of
- 1:17:06Speaker 13: the scene in Pulp Fiction where Where the woman who's
- 1:17:09Speaker 13: trying to help gets shot in the head.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: It's just... If you need anybody to be a witness... Oh,
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I've been shot!
- 1:17:23Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 1:17:24Speaker 13: I'd say Super has to get it one way or another.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: I think so. But I think it's the entire movie,
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: not just a specific scene.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: Oh, let's see.
- 1:17:34Speaker 10: The next category is actually... You referenced it recently, Greg,
- 1:17:39Speaker 10: and then Fred brought it back up. Goodest Kill?
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: Goodest Kill. From the show that brought your comments like
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: he kills good. He kills good. We bring you Goodest
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: Kill in a film in 2011. Oh, this one is
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: really fun.
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: The anticipation.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: We have.
- 1:17:59Speaker 10: Hi-Hats the drug dealer getting mauled to death by space puppies.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: And attack the block. Pretty awesome. Yeah.
- 1:18:07Speaker 10: We have all the massive deaths in Contagion.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Can't go wrong with massive amounts of population dying.
- 1:18:16Speaker 10: Magneto's kills in the X-Men The First Class, specifically the coin.
- 1:18:23Speaker 10: And actually, I think this one we don't have to
- 1:18:25Speaker 10: pick anyway because we had several people voting for the
- 1:18:29Speaker 10: return of the coin from Magneto in X-Men First Class,
- 1:18:33Speaker 10: which is pretty awesome, by the way.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: Have you seen that one? No, I've not.
- 1:18:39Speaker 8: I swore off all of the X-Men movies.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: No, you win them. Professor X. Yeah.
- 1:18:46Speaker 10: They're both really good. I mean, fucking Michael Fassbender. in everything,
- 1:18:50Speaker 10: but the upside is he's good. He's good in everything. But, yeah,
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: that's not the one to skip in the X-Men.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: I mean, I was amazed how well put together that was,
- 1:19:03Speaker 10: especially since it's that far into a series.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: I know it's sort of a reboot, do-over series. sort
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: of thing. And they, it, the turnaround on it was amazing.
- 1:19:14Speaker 10: Like they announced it and threw it at him and
- 1:19:17Speaker 10: it was out in theaters like a year later. Like
- 1:19:20Speaker 10: it was really quick that you would expect it to
- 1:19:22Speaker 10: be very hacky and thrown together. And it's not, it's
- 1:19:26Speaker 10: well written. It's well put together. It's just, yeah, I
- 1:19:29Speaker 10: was impressed with it. So Magneto.
- 1:19:33Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: Returning the coin. No, I guess I'll have to see it.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: It's well done.
- 1:19:40Speaker 10: So, next one, I thought this, yeah, this, I think
- 1:19:44Speaker 10: you brought up as well, Fred.
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: We had a little input on this. Most of it's
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: just random stuff I made up.
- 1:19:50Speaker 10: Wrongest actor for the role in 2011. Equally wrongly grammared.
- 1:19:55Speaker 10: Wrongest actor.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: Wrongest actor. That's fine. So, we have Tom Cruise for
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: all of his movies. Yeah. Danny McBride.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20:07Speaker 10: And this one, again, we already have a winner. And,
- 1:20:09Speaker 10: you know, this movie's going to get a lot of hate.
- 1:20:12Speaker 10: I don't know that this is the reason, but Ryan
- 1:20:15Speaker 10: Reynolds for Green Lantern.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: Huh.
- 1:20:17Speaker 10: I don't know that he's wrong for the role. It's
- 1:20:20Speaker 10: just that movie's... There's no good way to make that movie.
- 1:20:23Speaker 10: It's going to be bad. Like, I even like the comic.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Yeah. But I remember reading the comic and then thinking... Yeah,
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: I don't think you can make a movie out of this.
- 1:20:32Speaker 10: It's just like what looks okay on the page is
- 1:20:36Speaker 10: going to look cheesy in a movie. No matter how
- 1:20:39Speaker 10: good your CGI is, which it wasn't, no matter what
- 1:20:42Speaker 10: you do, it's not going to come off right. It
- 1:20:45Speaker 10: works as a cartoon. It works as a comic book.
- 1:20:47Speaker 10: It's not going to work live action. It's just not.
- 1:20:50Speaker 8: Plus, I think with that franchise, there's just so many
- 1:20:55Speaker 8: directions you could go.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: And it's endless amounts of.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: I don't want.
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: To get into an episode on that movie.
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: I haven't seen it. Was the Green Arrow in it?
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: Because I liked when they paired them. They paired them
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: half of the run. And those were, again, really good comics.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: It made me like Green Arrow.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: But, yeah, I don't think they've gotten to that. You've
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: just got to watch Smallville if you want Green Arrow.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:21:23Speaker 10: And then we're going to split this up. So this
- 1:21:25Speaker 10: is the last one in the regular categories. Then we've
- 1:21:27Speaker 10: got our special category in a minute here.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: I liked I like this option, too.
- 1:21:33Speaker 10: Most obnoxious use of CGI in a 2011 film.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:21:38Speaker 10: This one, again, I think right off the bat, but
- 1:21:42Speaker 10: we have the vote for too many to name.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: That's kind of true. Pretty much all of them. I
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: like the way that everybody's going.
- 1:21:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: This caught me off guard. Hoodwink 2, Hood vs.
- 1:21:57Speaker 9: Evil.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: First of all, I kind of forgot that movie existed.
- 1:22:00Speaker 18: Right.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: Hoodwinked is a great movie.
- 1:22:01Speaker 10: And second of all, yeah, I didn't think it looked
- 1:22:04Speaker 10: like any worse. Like, it's one of those weird CGI
- 1:22:09Speaker 10: animated movies. So to me, I don't know, it just
- 1:22:12Speaker 10: looked as bad as all of those. I mean, all
- 1:22:14Speaker 10: of those kind of look cheap compared to Hand Drawn.
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I forgot they made a sequel to Hoodwinked.
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: I gotta write this down.
- 1:22:23Speaker 10: The one movie that Fred has to see is Hoodwink 2.
- 1:22:27Speaker 10: That's T-O-O, Fred.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Get that straight. So, yeah. And the fourth option is
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: Green Lantern. To me, it's got... I mean, that was what.
- 1:22:41Speaker 10: To me, it wasn't the Ryan Reynolds miscasting that ruined
- 1:22:45Speaker 10: that movie.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: It was that horrible CGI. So... I'm leaning towards Green
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Lantern because that happens.
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: Was Ryan Reynolds CGI'd, though?
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: He was.
- 1:22:54Speaker 10: They CGI'd his entire body throughout the entire movie.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: Oh, I just thought he was CGI'd.
- 1:23:00Speaker 9: I thought that was Captain America or something.
- 1:23:03Speaker 10: No, Captain America looks pretty good. He wears a real
- 1:23:06Speaker 10: outfit and it doesn't look cheesy. It's sort of a
- 1:23:09Speaker 10: normal military outfit half the movie.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: Well, no, they did that thing where he's tiny in
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: the beginning.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: That's just him. That's not really the suit. That's a little.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: No, they, like, made him all weak and, like, little.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know. That's a little, like, questionable. But, again,
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: that's over in, like, 10, 15 minutes tops. And the
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: whole rest of the movie's normal. So, that's way more minor.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: Oh, I thought he was actually a tiny little guy
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: in the CGI.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: They just gave him tons of steroids.
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: I completely got that mixed up.
- 1:23:44Speaker 10: Okay, so the other category, we're going to skip ahead
- 1:23:47Speaker 10: here and leave the rest of those for next week.
- 1:23:49Speaker 10: And we also wanted to round it out with some
- 1:23:52Speaker 10: of the specifics, since this is the Meltdown Awards, to
- 1:23:56Speaker 10: the show itself. So we've got three here for this week.
- 1:24:01Speaker 10: We have Favorite Interview of 2011.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: This one we have quite a... Again, we have an
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: official winner.
- 1:24:09Speaker 10: One of the Secret Circle bothered to do a big
- 1:24:12Speaker 10: breakdown of all of them.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:24:15Speaker 10: Of their favorite options and their comments about it.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: I'm working on a show that I do, and I'm positive.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: That's true. Let me give you the responses here.
- 1:24:27Speaker 10: Andrew Robinson, most appreciated back catalog exploration by interview guest,
- 1:24:33Speaker 10: and half of his stuff still coming. So that's the
- 1:24:35Speaker 10: interview that keeps on giving. We've got a lot of
- 1:24:37Speaker 10: stuff with Andrew. C. Thomas Howell, best Unearthed Facts interview ever.
- 1:24:43Speaker 10: That's another one. Both of those were ones you barely
- 1:24:45Speaker 10: even scratched the surface. We're coming back to see Thomas
- 1:24:47Speaker 10: Howell several times. Leah Thompson, best semi-awkward post-adolescent crush interview.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: You know I'm not going to argue that. Not at all.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: Since I specifically told her, yeah, it's not awkward at all.
- 1:25:04Speaker 10: Lance Hendrickson, interview I think about when I pull out
- 1:25:07Speaker 10: my hand-washable-only good pottery dishes to dine on. Lily Tomlin,
- 1:25:13Speaker 10: best holy shit Brian's talking to fill-in-the-blank interview.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: Can't argue with that either.
- 1:25:20Speaker 10: And so they're rounding it out. For this person, they
- 1:25:24Speaker 10: say their favorite is John Saxon. Hearing him do Bruce
- 1:25:28Speaker 10: Lee as a 70s hipster and talking about being a
- 1:25:31Speaker 10: Shabbos guy is something I will never forget. So that
- 1:25:35Speaker 10: vote is for John Saxon, but we had several others
- 1:25:38Speaker 10: that came in and put it over the top for
- 1:25:40Speaker 10: Lance Hendrickson.
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:25:41Speaker 10: I guess technically Lance wins, but John's the runner-up.
- 1:25:47Speaker 8: He just won a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Foily? Foiler?
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: I guess we better get this right. You should probably
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: get it straight if you're handing them out to people.
- 1:25:58Speaker 9: I think I was the one that decided to call
- 1:26:04Speaker 9: it Foily.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Oh, Lord.
- 1:26:09Speaker 10: So then, yeah, I figured we'd do, I separated them
- 1:26:13Speaker 10: into the interview versus the special guest co-hosts.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:26:16Speaker 10: Because to me that's an entirely different, they sit in
- 1:26:19Speaker 10: with us or some faction of us for an entire segment.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: They get like extra bonus points. This one I don't think,
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: I don't want.
- 1:26:28Speaker 10: To pick because I don't think we get to pick
- 1:26:30Speaker 10: that one because we're a little too attached to these.
- 1:26:33Speaker 10: So we've got four different people, oddly enough, that came
- 1:26:36Speaker 10: in in the running here. We've got, again, one of
- 1:26:40Speaker 10: these people has gone several of their options. So, Doug
- 1:26:44Speaker 10: Jones wins the runner-up position as most joyful human being
- 1:26:48Speaker 10: with shitty taste in movies.
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: That's not me, Doug.
- 1:26:53Speaker 10: That is this anonymous listener. Albert Pune for most informative.
- 1:26:58Speaker 10: Emma Caulfield wins the co-host whose car I'd watch for
- 1:27:02Speaker 10: free on General Principles and best taste in movies of
- 1:27:05Speaker 10: the assembled bunch.
- 1:27:06Speaker 15: Uh-huh.
- 1:27:07Speaker 10: But according to this listener, Jess Weixler wins by a
- 1:27:10Speaker 10: nose because she's family.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: Can't argue. We did sort of adopt that.
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: I'd like to give her an award, too, because after
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: I met her, I saw The Lie, and I just
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: freaking loved The Lie. She was awesome.
- 1:27:24Speaker 10: She's amazing in it. As much as I like the movie,
- 1:27:27Speaker 10: she is the best thing about it. There's other good
- 1:27:31Speaker 10: things in it, but.
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: There's a lot I like about that. I was really
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: surprised how much I enjoyed it. And she was just fantastic.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, her performance is good.
- 1:27:41Speaker 13: Sometimes I was just watching her face and I'd just
- 1:27:43Speaker 13: bust out laughing.
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: I'm telling you. Those scenes where it just focuses on
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: her face. It's amazing.
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: The song.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: The song. Oh, my God.
- 1:27:52Speaker 13: The song, but also just other times, you know, she's just,
- 1:27:56Speaker 13: you know, they're having an awkward conversation.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: You can see her think.
- 1:28:03Speaker 13: Oh, it's so well acted and such a really cool
- 1:28:08Speaker 13: little film.
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: Where do you find that movie?
- 1:28:12Speaker 8: They had it at Redbox recently.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Wow, did they?
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: I remember she said it was coming soon to Netflix.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: I know Netflix would pick it up, but I'm not surprised.
- 1:28:21Speaker 8: No, I'm wrong.
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: I'm wrong. Another Earth had Redbox. Another Earth was there.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: It was on Redbox. Yeah, I saw that.
- 1:28:26Speaker 9: No, no, no.
- 1:28:29Speaker 8: I saw that it was coming to Netflix. That's where
- 1:28:31Speaker 8: I saw this, all that.
- 1:28:32Speaker 13: Well, I had a couple of movies she'd been in
- 1:28:34Speaker 13: lined up on Netflix. Then I was at Wild and Wooly,
- 1:28:36Speaker 13: and I.
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: Said, oh, there's The Lie.
- 1:28:38Speaker 13: And I watched it and just like minutes into it
- 1:28:42Speaker 13: I could tell, oh yeah, this is alright.
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: The guy in it was really good too. The whole
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: construction of the movie and the dialogue just really surprised me.
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: I think, you know, there were several people that thought
- 1:28:58Speaker 8: it needed more tonal direction, like to choose a path.
- 1:29:03Speaker 8: But I liked that you'd never felt comfortable with where
- 1:29:07Speaker 8: even the movie was, you know, because that's what the
- 1:29:10Speaker 8: whole thing is about. Anyway, is I'm uncomfortable with what's
- 1:29:13Speaker 8: going on in my world, you know?
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: And, and so it's funny. It's so good.
- 1:29:19Speaker 13: There were details in it, just little details that were like,
- 1:29:24Speaker 13: they thought about which little random detail, like when he
- 1:29:27Speaker 13: said a diner, And there's that stone-faced waitress, and she's like,
- 1:29:33Speaker 13: what's a three-letter word for distance?
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: It begins with an S. Far? But that's a great detail,
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: because it's like, in his life, it's like, the answer
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: you're looking for might not fit what you think it's
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: going to be.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Oh, Lord.
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: Yeah, that was great.
- 1:29:56Speaker 10: So, yeah, everybody had sort of a different direction on
- 1:29:59Speaker 10: this one. Jess, we also had somebody with Emma Caulfield.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: We have Doug Jones, and we have Pat Kilbane.
- 1:30:07Speaker 10: So, I like that everybody sort of enjoyed different people
- 1:30:11Speaker 10: and different aspects.
- 1:30:12Speaker 8: I'll tell you one thing. I didn't have a reason
- 1:30:16Speaker 8: to care that much about Emma Caulfield before that interview.
- 1:30:21Speaker 8: And afterwards, I was like, wow, I've got to pay
- 1:30:24Speaker 8: more attention because.
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: She seemed like a really genuine, creative person.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:30:32Speaker 8: And in line with the way I see things. So, yeah, no,
- 1:30:37Speaker 8: I was very happy with that.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: Definite geek points to her. She delivered completely on that one.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: She was kind of an inspiring person just to hear
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: her talk about stuff.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: And again, that's sort of what I took from looking
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: back at this.
- 1:30:52Speaker 10: I was like, we've had some amazing segments this past year.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: I mean, we've Had some good ones in the whole
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: run of the show, but this last year has been
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: just a hell of an impressive lineup. I'm amazed that
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: I'm involved in it.
- 1:31:05Speaker 10: So, yeah, I've been really happy with the way the
- 1:31:08Speaker 10: show's gone this past year.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: Well, it's me and Marlene and Fred.
- 1:31:12Speaker 8: Mostly, I think.
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
- 1:31:15Speaker 8: We do all the hard work.
- 1:31:17Speaker 10: Sure.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: So this one, yeah, I thought we couldn't.
- 1:31:24Speaker 4: That's tough, yeah.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: We couldn't do our.
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: Lily Tomlin? You talked to Lily Tomlin.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:31:29Speaker 10: Damn.
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: Lifetime achievement.
- 1:31:33Speaker 10: They're all winners. I'm not picking one for that one.
- 1:31:37Speaker 10: We're too close to all of this. I just thought
- 1:31:39Speaker 10: it was cool that all of those came in. So yeah,
- 1:31:43Speaker 10: this one I thought we couldn't not do. Favorite Marlena moment.
- 1:31:48Speaker 13: Christopher Plummer just won Best Supporting Actor.
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: Not to interrupt it.
- 1:31:54Speaker 8: Marlena moment.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Surprising, actually.
- 1:31:55Speaker 8: No, actually, a Marlena moment should be interrupted.
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That's what they are. That's true.
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: That's so meta. Oh, man.
- 1:32:09Speaker 10: So most people are confused and overwhelmed and don't even
- 1:32:13Speaker 10: know where to begin.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: I want to go with, like, the gay neighbor dog moment.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: I think the way that.
- 1:32:21Speaker 10: It's described here, it just says, her dog's vengeful bladder
- 1:32:26Speaker 10: and her boss's Oprah rage.
- 1:32:29Speaker 9: I don't even remember my thoughts.
- 1:32:31Speaker 10: That's the best part of the Marlena moments is you're
- 1:32:34Speaker 10: the last person to remember your own story.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: I don't remember either of these stories. I love the
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: helping the old man that was trapped. That's pretty epic.
- 1:32:45Speaker 9: Did I tell you I had to help him again?
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: I just especially love when you go into his tool
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: shed and it's like, what the fuck?
- 1:32:57Speaker 13: And eventually you find some sort of antique jacket.
- 1:33:01Speaker 9: It was a really stressful day.
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: It was probably just a rock stick you put over it.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: Oh, Lord. There's so many of them.
- 1:33:12Speaker 9: I don't even remember them. I don't remember these stories
- 1:33:15Speaker 9: from my own life.
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: That's so sad. Well, and then there was the day
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: you were cool. That's pretty good.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: That was a good one, yeah.
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: There was the day you were cooler than Jared Leto.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: That's every day. Let's be real.
- 1:33:31Speaker 13: And then there was one thing I never really understood
- 1:33:34Speaker 13: where you got up and threw chocolate out the window
- 1:33:38Speaker 13: and I.
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: Never heard what that was about. It was sometime around like, uh,
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: The festivities down on the waterfront. But then you just
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: rambled on and all of a sudden you were in
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: Cincinnati as an excuse to shop.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: I kind of remember this.
- 1:33:55Speaker 8: That was for the Thunder Over Louisville.
- 1:33:58Speaker 9: I don't remember throwing chocolate out the window.
- 1:34:00Speaker 8: Oh, she was mad because the vendors for Thunder Over
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: Louisville wouldn't sell to you early in the morning.
- 1:34:07Speaker 9: Yes, yes.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: I like that we remember these stories.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: And you're like, what the fuck are you talking about?
- 1:34:12Speaker 9: I don't remember throwing chocolate out the window, though.
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: There was some stray comment about that. And I'm like,
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: what is going on in this world?
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: You don't want to ask questions about your life.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: I didn't want to interrupt the Marlena moment.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: The hot damn hobo. Hot damn hobo. Maybe because that
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: one's just so fresh.
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: 16 bottles.
- 1:34:32Speaker 9: The alley gave me when I found it. And like
- 1:34:36Speaker 9: right next to each other.
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: The hot damn hobo was a pretty damn good one.
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: I'll give you that.
- 1:34:40Speaker 9: I just want to know who the hot damn hobo is.
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: I want people to.
- 1:34:43Speaker 9: Stake out behind my house and fucking figure it out
- 1:34:45Speaker 9: because it has been plaguing me for almost five years.
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: Shit.
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: And that was going on during the one where your
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: gay neighbor.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: He had shit on his face. And he kept trying
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: to high-five you. Like he's forgotten.
- 1:35:00Speaker 10: How did he forget?
- 1:35:00Speaker 9: He was really drunk.
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: That's got to be like a notch.
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: That's a.
- 1:35:09Speaker 13: a breathalyzer mark the point at which you're so drunk
- 1:35:14Speaker 13: you forget you have shit on your hand.
- 1:35:17Speaker 9: He's done a lot of strange things. He once tried
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: to pay Brian to take a shower with him.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: That one you don't have to remind me about. I
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: do remember that one. Come on, that's different.
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: I think we've all never met.
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: That could have been money for the show, Brian. I
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: didn't say I ruled it out completely.
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: I had a sponsor there.
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: I'm still mulling it over. How do you think we
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: got this board? Jeff. To answer your question, Jeff. Did
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: you get the nameplate yet? No, you're in charge of
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: getting that.
- 1:35:54Speaker 10: Okay.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: But he did say he likes that idea.
- 1:35:56Speaker 12: Okay, great.
- 1:35:57Speaker 10: That one's definitely named Jeff. And, by the way, thank
- 1:36:00Speaker 10: you once again. Since then, he's donated again.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: Oh, wow. He is out of control. And, yeah, thank
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: you very much for being out of control. Is his
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: last name Gates?
- 1:36:09Speaker 10: Because the only way we could have afforded this fabulous
- 1:36:13Speaker 10: food tonight, I think I.
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: Spent all your donation money on pork-related products. So, yeah,
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: we're right back where we started.
- 1:36:20Speaker 11: But.
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: we wouldn't have this wonderful episode. We wouldn't have corn dogs.
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: It's what funds each and every one of these episodes,
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: each and every one of which put us further in
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: the hole. So, that's how we go. I'm curious to
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: see which Marley in a moment wins. That was what
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: we had.
- 1:36:34Speaker 10: We had the dog's vengeful bladder and boss's Oprah rage.
- 1:36:38Speaker 9: I don't remember either of those things, though.
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: Oh, well, you're just going to have to go back
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: through all the.
- 1:36:47Speaker 10: It's a good thing we're cataloging your stories, so then
- 1:36:49Speaker 10: at least they will be saved and Generations, years from now,
- 1:36:53Speaker 10: can go back over them.
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: And we can put them in a space capsule.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:36:58Speaker 13: And it could be like the first thing that an
- 1:37:00Speaker 13: alien life form hears.
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: This will be like Starman. We'll just beam it to them.
- 1:37:05Speaker 9: Here's the interesting thing. I keep meaning to start a blog.
- 1:37:08Speaker 9: about my life so I can, like, remember things. And
- 1:37:11Speaker 9: then I keep forgetting to start a blog.
- 1:37:13Speaker 10: That's like your bag dice because I think you've said
- 1:37:15Speaker 10: that every episode of the show.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: That you're going to start a blog.
- 1:37:19Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:37:20Speaker 9: And I just never do. I forget.
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: You should do a blog about how you're meaning to
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: start a blog.
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: You should, actually.
- 1:37:27Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm like, I'm going to take a picture of
- 1:37:28Speaker 9: this and start a blog. And then I can do
- 1:37:30Speaker 9: this all the time and then I forget.
- 1:37:32Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: You need post-its or something. And that's the weirdest thing.
- 1:37:36Speaker 9: I'm not forgetful.
- 1:37:37Speaker 15: Like.
- 1:37:38Speaker 9: I mean, sometimes I am, I guess.
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: She said that three times today.
- 1:37:45Speaker 9: But I mean, I never have to study for tests.
- 1:37:50Speaker 9: I can read my history book once, I don't ever
- 1:37:52Speaker 9: have to look at it again. But it's just things
- 1:37:54Speaker 9: that have actually happened to me in real life.
- 1:37:57Speaker 8: I think in telling them, you purge them from your
- 1:38:00Speaker 8: memory so you don't have to carry.
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: It around anymore. I think so. That could be it.
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: Maybe you're freeing yourself.
- 1:38:07Speaker 8: Movie Meltdown is our therapy.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: That it is. Oh, man. So, yeah, we're going to
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: leave it at that for this week.
- 1:38:15Speaker 10: That's half of the regular ones, and we've knocked out
- 1:38:19Speaker 10: a few of the Movie Meltdown-specific ones.
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: So we'll be back next week with the rest of
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: those categories. I'll give you the sneak preview, one of.
- 1:38:27Speaker 10: Which we had to go with the the constant updated
- 1:38:32Speaker 10: question every time misty's on an episode of so we
- 1:38:35Speaker 10: posed the question what celebrity would you like misty to
- 1:38:38Speaker 10: punch in the face so we'll get to that one
- 1:38:40Speaker 10: next time around definitely reason to come back right there
- 1:38:44Speaker 10: well thank you to the high ranking members of the
- 1:38:46Speaker 10: secret circle for voting If you would like to enjoy
- 1:38:49Speaker 10: these exciting perks like these here, send us a message
- 1:38:53Speaker 10: and tell us.
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: You yourself would like to join the Secret Circle. All right.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: I think that will round this one out.
- 1:38:59Speaker 10: So, yeah, our continuing ridiculous coverage will be next week
- 1:39:04Speaker 10: as well.
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: We're also going to have the movie. We've mentioned it before,
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: but I guess we should throw it out there. Okay, kids,
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: get out your Dakota pins.
- 1:39:13Speaker 9: Oh, wait.
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: You want a noise? Do we want to finally do
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: a sound effect for this?
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: He's been threatening that for like a year and a
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: half now.
- 1:39:28Speaker 4: I bet it.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: I could tell that tonight's message was really important.
- 1:39:32Speaker 10: It is time.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Welcome to Roseanne. Exactly, yeah.
- 1:39:41Speaker 16: Yay.
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: It is time for.
- 1:39:42Speaker 10: Another exciting edition of the Secret Circle Reveal.
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: I don't know, whatever.
- 1:39:48Speaker 10: So it's time for the previously mentioned Secret Circle reveal
- 1:39:51Speaker 10: of the next exciting feature. As we brought up last time,
- 1:39:55Speaker 10: we will discuss the Oscar-worthy Sofa Theater feature, Creature.
- 1:40:01Speaker 8: Oscar-worthy.
- 1:40:02Speaker 10: Sure.
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: I think it swept the Oscars that year.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: It's also Meyer-worthy.
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: Oh, come back for that. And more of our ridiculous
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: hammering on. I... Are you okay?
- 1:40:17Speaker 13: I was looking at Angelina Jolie standing on the red carpet.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: Here's my leg. Hey, she's pretty proud of that leg.
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: You can't blame her.
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: No, I don't, but it's just hilarious.
- 1:40:30Speaker 8: Does she even act anymore, or does she just.
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: She directed it. Yeah, she's directed it.
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: That's right.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: And that movie almost killed her from what I heard.
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: Right now. There's my leg. She's got a leg and
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: you need to see it. Don't lie.
- 1:40:49Speaker 8: You don't know if that other leg even exists.
- 1:40:51Speaker 9: You know, it's like she's always said in interviews that
- 1:40:54Speaker 9: she's okay with aging. Like, she's not afraid of aging
- 1:40:57Speaker 9: and She's aged really well.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes it a lot easier.
- 1:41:02Speaker 13: It's fear of aging that makes you age.
- 1:41:04Speaker 9: I think so.
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: We have nothing to fear but getting old. Yeah.
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:41:28Speaker 14: Well, I saw you on.
- 1:41:29Speaker 15: The evening news.
- 1:41:32Speaker 14: Down on Rodeo Drive.
- 1:41:37Speaker 19: You were sparring with a paparazzi trying to keep your
- 1:41:42Speaker 19: love alive.
- 1:41:44Speaker 15: Well, when you're gonna see the only one for you.
- 1:41:59Speaker 20: Heard a bad boy broke your heart like bad boys
- 1:42:04Speaker 20: often do.
- 1:42:07Speaker 12: But just beware of that pretty boy you're fooling.
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: With baby pretty boys will break you too.
- 1:42:15Speaker 15: Well when you're gonna see the only one for you.
- 1:42:55Speaker 14: Well, I saw you in the evening news.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: You had a baby in your arms.
- 1:43:03Speaker 19: Well, don't believe what them people try to tell you, baby.
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: I don't mean you any harm.
- 1:43:12Speaker 15: Well, when you're gonna see the only one for you.
- 1:43:29Speaker 15: .
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: .
- 1:43:31Speaker 15: .
- 1:43:33Speaker 16: .
- 1:43:37Speaker 15: .
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: .
- 1:43:54Speaker 8: .
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: Yeah. And you don't know that.
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: I saw a nun mowing a lawn once. This was
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: on what?
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: In a habit?
- 1:44:04Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: Just in a habit.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: And it occurred to me, I'd never seen that before,
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: and it looks fucking weird.
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't see that.
- 1:44:15Speaker 6: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
