- 1:23Speaker 2: the music with the Museum in the City. Working on
- 1:26Speaker 2: a short film with Johnny.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, let's put the plug in come on.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Based on the parable the Soler from the Bible, you know,
- 1:32Speaker 2: for Johnny's Night of the Arts.

- 1:53Speaker 3: We're getting there as that's normal in the film industry.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Come on, now, As far as where people can find David,
- 2:00Speaker 1: is there a website or social media that you have,
- 2:02Speaker 1: h you can.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Find me on David mTAN dot com, David mTAN dot com,
- 2:07Speaker 2: or you can find me on Instagram at David Tangible
- 2:11Speaker 2: d A v I D tangible.
- 2:13Speaker 5: If you can spell tangible, probably not.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Let me give it a try.
- 2:17Speaker 5: T A n G.
- 2:21Speaker 1: A b l e I b l e I b
- 2:23Speaker 1: l e ibl E. Show's over. I'm not talking.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Anymore, David Tangible.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I'm not smart. I'm not the smartest guy when it
- 2:30Speaker 1: comes to letters, but I am encouraged. Yeah, yeah, this.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Is only twenty six letters, is there.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Maybe let's let's talk some movies. So we're going over
- 2:41Speaker 1: our list of our top ten favorite movies. Right now,
- 2:44Speaker 1: we hear the theme to Home Alone, which actually comes
- 2:48Speaker 1: in at number seven on my list, So we're going
- 2:50Speaker 1: in order. I had Ghostbusters at ten, Happy Gilmour at nine,
- 2:53Speaker 1: Field of Dreams at eight, and Home Alone at seven.
- 2:56Speaker 1: And this is one I've done a few deep dives
- 2:59Speaker 1: on my podcast Film Reel. That's film r E A
- 3:03Speaker 1: L see I could spell that, uh, And I've talked
- 3:06Speaker 1: about it with Stacy Rain and Liam Flynn, a few
- 3:09Speaker 1: people that have worked here at w HPC over the years.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I love this movie. This is one that I have
- 3:14Speaker 1: to watch every single year. The sequels. I don't really
- 3:16Speaker 1: care for as much.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I actually lost in New York, bro.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I have so many issues with that movie, Johnny that
- 3:21Speaker 1: we don't have time because time is of the essence.
- 3:24Speaker 1: But I could spend an hour telling you why the
- 3:26Speaker 1: original Home Alone is superior. In fact, just go on
- 3:29Speaker 1: my podcast Film Reel and you'll be able to hear me,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you know, complain about Home from the original Home Alone.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I would say, Oh, that is a that is a
- 3:40Speaker 1: tough one. I mean, I'm thinking just a moment is
- 3:44Speaker 1: the scream of Marv when the tarantula goes on his
- 3:47Speaker 1: face or you know, easy on the Pepsi Fuller or
- 3:51Speaker 1: easy on Easier in the Pepsi Fuller with the young
- 3:55Speaker 1: kid his his brother Rory Culkin.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Do you have a favorite quote from when Kevin mccallisters
- 4:02Speaker 2: says to his mom or tells everybody's screening.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And stamping his feet, I'm living alone.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Yeah, but did you hear what he said before that?
- 4:10Speaker 1: What was that?
- 4:11Speaker 2: When I grew up and I get married, I'm living alone.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I'm living alone When he gets married.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Yeah, when he gets married.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I like when he finds the picture of Buzz's girlfriend, Buzz,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you girlfriend who There's so many iconic moments, Joe Peshy,
- 4:29Speaker 1: Daniel Stern, that dynamic of those two comedic geniuses right there,
- 4:34Speaker 1: the score from John Williams, the great story of the
- 4:37Speaker 1: old man Marley and his you know, you know, falling
- 4:41Speaker 1: out with his son. I guess that's a common theme
- 4:43Speaker 1: of the last two movies actually, His Home Alone and
- 4:45Speaker 1: Field of Dreams, a father and son getting into a fight,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and then americanciling. This one done with the Christmas setting
- 4:53Speaker 1: with the great, late great John Candy, which you're doing
- 4:56Speaker 1: a documentary on which you'll be coming out soon, produced
- 4:58Speaker 1: by Ryan Reynolds. I love everything about this movie. Must
- 5:03Speaker 1: watch every holiday season.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I just love how.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Joe Peshy goes from casino to that yeah you know
- 5:08Speaker 4: what I mean.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Well, he was worried that he was going to curse
- 5:11Speaker 1: in that movie, because he does like that. He's like,
- 5:14Speaker 1: he does that instead of cursing, But he was worried
- 5:17Speaker 1: that he was going to curse. On the side of
- 5:18Speaker 1: that movie. There's so many great behind the scenes stories
- 5:21Speaker 1: of the movie. John Hughes obviously producing it, Christopher Columbus
- 5:24Speaker 1: directing it. In the great Macaulay Culkin, who was on
- 5:27Speaker 1: top of the world in nineteen ninety with that film
- 5:30Speaker 1: that comes in at number seven, David, number seven movie
- 5:32Speaker 1: of all time. What do you got?
- 5:34Speaker 5: Good Will Hunting? Good Will hunt.
- 5:37Speaker 3: So can we play that? Can we play that scene?
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yes, we will play.
- 5:41Speaker 3: That scene is life changing. I love that scene.
- 5:45Speaker 5: That movie makes a good cry for some reason.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's it's it's a role.
- 5:49Speaker 4: It's a model that each of us need to listen
- 5:51Speaker 4: to and implement into going to our youth.
- 5:56Speaker 1: You know, you know a lot of people have been
- 5:58Speaker 1: talking about men's mental health recently, and you know, I've
- 6:02Speaker 1: seen a lot of people posting pictures about you know,
- 6:06Speaker 1: celebrities that have unfortunately taken their lives.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Set the scene.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, let's talk about this scene from Goodwill Hunting, which
- 6:11Speaker 1: ended up winning the Oscar. I know Aflack and Matt
- 6:15Speaker 1: Damon won the Oscar for Best Screenplay and I believe
- 6:18Speaker 1: Robin Williams also won for Best Actor or Best Supporting
- 6:21Speaker 1: Actor for this movie. What a great performance. So, yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: let's talk about this scene that we're about to play
- 6:27Speaker 1: right here? Is this What do you want to do
- 6:28Speaker 1: that scene?
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 6:29Speaker 5: What do you want to do? Yeah?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Will is kind of like this genius, but he's also
- 6:34Speaker 2: like not living to his full potential. At this point
- 6:39Speaker 2: in the movie, it's kind of like this this huge
- 6:42Speaker 2: emotional breakthrough because Robin Williams' character like really breaks down,
- 6:47Speaker 2: like will psyche bit in terms of like why he
- 6:51Speaker 2: refuses to go get the job, why he refuses to
- 6:54Speaker 2: try things, why he refuses to go out and you know,
- 6:58Speaker 2: live to his full potential. But yeah, I know it's
- 7:00Speaker 2: super emotional. I remember like hearing a little bit when
- 7:03Speaker 2: when this conversation, this exchange happened.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, before I play it, this is radio friendly. I'm assuming, right,
- 7:10Speaker 1: he doesn't crush I edited, so it's like, yeah, it's
- 7:17Speaker 1: the only thing that's unrealistic some of the words that
- 7:19Speaker 1: aren't said. I'm like, there's no way these guys are
- 7:21Speaker 1: drunk at a bar and aren't saying awful things.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, justin I got you.
- 7:25Speaker 4: But you know, this guy's a math genius working as
- 7:27Speaker 4: a janitor and solving the math problems at the college
- 7:31Speaker 4: he's working now, which is a prestigious college.
- 7:33Speaker 1: It's a must watch movie. It's definitely one of the best.
- 7:36Speaker 4: So his psychologists is in the scene saying, yo, like
- 7:39Speaker 4: what's your problem. You just happen to get a job
- 7:41Speaker 4: as a janitor in this and you're secretly solving these equations.
- 7:45Speaker 3: So like, why I'm just setting the scene there, all right.
- 7:47Speaker 1: So why don't we play it a little good will
- 7:49Speaker 1: hunting right here on the radio rumble?
- 7:51Speaker 6: You feel like you're alone?
- 7:52Speaker 7: Will?
- 7:54Speaker 6: What do you have a soul mate? Define somebody who
- 8:02Speaker 6: challenges you?
- 8:04Speaker 7: U Chucky?
- 8:05Speaker 6: You know Chucki's family, he'd lie down of effect for you.
- 8:08Speaker 6: I'm talking about someone who opens up things for you,
- 8:11Speaker 6: touches your soul.
- 8:14Speaker 8: I got, I got who I got plenty won't name him. Shakespeare,
- 8:21Speaker 8: nietzschee Frost, so kinda con pope block That's great. They're
- 8:25Speaker 8: all dead not to me.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Then you don't have a lot of dialogue with them.
- 8:30Speaker 8: You can't give back to them will without some serious
- 8:33Speaker 8: smelling sauts in ahaa.
- 8:35Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You'll never have that kind
- 8:39Speaker 6: of relationship in the world where you're always afraid to
- 8:42Speaker 6: take the first step because all you see is every
- 8:45Speaker 6: negative thing ten miles down the road.
- 8:47Speaker 8: You're gonna take the professor's side.
- 8:48Speaker 6: Don't give me a look. I didn't want the job.
- 8:50Speaker 6: It's not about the job. I don't care if you
- 8:52Speaker 6: work for the government, but you can do anything you want.
- 8:54Speaker 6: You are bound by nothing. What are you passionate about?
- 9:00Speaker 1: What do you want?
- 9:01Speaker 6: I mean the guys who work their entire life land
- 9:03Speaker 6: brick so that kids have a chance at the opportunities
- 9:05Speaker 6: you have here. I didn't ask for this, No, you
- 9:08Speaker 6: were born with it, So don't cop out behind.
- 9:10Speaker 8: I didn't ask for this, I mean cop out. I mean,
- 9:13Speaker 8: what's wrong with land brick? Nothing, there's nothing wrong with
- 9:16Speaker 8: That's somebody's home.
- 9:17Speaker 6: I'm building, right, My dad laid brick, Okay, Thus it
- 9:21Speaker 6: is there so I can have an.
- 9:22Speaker 9: Education, exactly.
- 9:23Speaker 8: That's an honorable profession. What's wrong with fixing somebody's casts.
- 9:26Speaker 8: So I'm going to get to work the next day
- 9:27Speaker 8: because of me. There's an honor in that.
- 9:29Speaker 6: Yeah, there is, Well, there is honor in that. And
- 9:30Speaker 6: there's honor and you know, taking that forty minute train
- 9:32Speaker 6: ride so those college kids can come in the morning
- 9:35Speaker 6: and the floors are cleaning, the waste baskets are empty.
- 9:37Speaker 6: That's real work, that's right, right, and that's honorable. Sure,
- 9:40Speaker 6: that's why you took that job. I mean for the
- 9:42Speaker 6: honor of it. I just have a little question here.
- 9:46Speaker 6: You could be a janitor anywhere. Why did you work
- 9:49Speaker 6: at the most prestigious technical college in the whole world?
- 9:53Speaker 6: Why did you sneak around at night and finish out
- 9:55Speaker 6: the people's formulas that only one or two people in
- 9:57Speaker 6: the world can do and then lie about? Because I
- 10:01Speaker 6: don't see a lot of honor in that will.
- 10:05Speaker 7: So what do you really want to do?
- 10:08Speaker 8: I want to be a shepherd, really. I want to
- 10:11Speaker 8: move up to Nashville and get a nice little spread,
- 10:14Speaker 8: get some sheep and tend to them.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Maybe you should cook them. Well, you know you're gonna
- 10:19Speaker 6: just do it, though you're chucking me.
- 10:21Speaker 7: No, no, no, time's not up yet. Yeah, I'm not leaving.
- 10:24Speaker 10: No, listen, you're not gonna answer my questions.
- 10:26Speaker 7: You wasted my time.
- 10:26Speaker 8: I thought we were friends.
- 10:27Speaker 7: What do you mean you play? Time's over? Okay?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Well, why are you kicking me out?
- 10:30Speaker 11: Shot?
- 10:30Speaker 3: I mean what I mean?
- 10:32Speaker 5: You lecturing me on life? Look at you?
- 10:34Speaker 9: You burn out?
- 10:35Speaker 1: What winds your clock working with you?
- 10:37Speaker 3: Where's your soulmate?
- 10:38Speaker 8: You want to talk about soulmates?
- 10:40Speaker 9: Where is she dead?
- 10:41Speaker 5: That's right, she's dead.
- 10:42Speaker 1: She dies and you just casting your chips and you
- 10:44Speaker 1: walk away.
- 10:45Speaker 6: At least I played the hand.
- 10:46Speaker 8: Oh if you play a hand and you lost, you
- 10:48Speaker 8: lost a big in hand and some people will lose
- 10:49Speaker 8: a big hand like that and have the sack to
- 10:51Speaker 8: handy up again.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Look at me, what do you want to do? You're
- 11:01Speaker 6: in your boot, You're a boat answer for everybody. But
- 11:04Speaker 6: I ask you a very simple question and you can't
- 11:07Speaker 6: give me a straight answer.
- 11:10Speaker 10: Because you don't know. See, you both keep you're the shepherd, shepherd.
- 11:34Speaker 3: That was it there?
- 11:34Speaker 5: It is nice transition though.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you know that is an emotional scene for sure.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Goodwill Hunting one of those must watch films for sure.
- 11:45Speaker 1: So you had that at number seven on your list, David, Yeah, yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: number seven for you. Johnny, what do you have? Best
- 11:52Speaker 1: movie of all time? According to Johnny Brummin of Art
- 11:54Speaker 1: of Heavenus.
- 11:55Speaker 3: This movie.
- 11:55Speaker 4: This movie is on my list because you know, as
- 12:00Speaker 4: a kid, you know, a young punk Johnny, I didn't
- 12:02Speaker 4: pay attention to these movies. I'm like corny, like, I'm
- 12:05Speaker 4: not gonna watch that. It wasn't until I was older.
- 12:08Speaker 4: I'm hanging out with my daughter, she's young, and I
- 12:10Speaker 4: see this movie and I was into buying classics. So
- 12:13Speaker 4: I popped the movie in, and I'm telling you, I
- 12:16Speaker 4: was like sitting on the floor in front of the
- 12:19Speaker 4: TV like a little kid, bawling.
- 12:24Speaker 1: What could it be? I'm on the edge of my seat.
- 12:26Speaker 3: The sound of music?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Oh, interesting, had to go there. So this is one
- 12:31Speaker 1: that was like mandatory watching for a lot of people
- 12:36Speaker 1: growing up. Johnny, You're not gonna be happy. Never seen
- 12:40Speaker 1: the sound of music?
- 12:41Speaker 5: But have you heard it?
- 12:43Speaker 7: Though?
- 12:43Speaker 4: It's so interesting? Like how justin this is? This is
- 12:48Speaker 4: a great show man.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I need to I didn't plan this.
- 12:51Speaker 3: You can't plan this.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That's definitely been on the list of movies that I
- 12:55Speaker 1: want to watch. I know it's a very long one.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I want to say, it's over three hours long. I
- 12:59Speaker 1: know they would play it all the time on television
- 13:01Speaker 1: back in the day, but it's one that escaped me.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I will watch this in due time.
- 13:08Speaker 4: It's almost like two movies, though, I'm telling you, it's
- 13:10Speaker 4: almost like two completely different movies. Like there's this first
- 13:13Speaker 4: half and then everything changes and there's this whole second
- 13:17Speaker 4: dramatic half that has to do with the war going
- 13:20Speaker 4: on to World War two film it's during that period.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yes, all right, So that's another one of Johnny's movies
- 13:27Speaker 1: I've never seen. Let's move on to number six. Is
- 13:31Speaker 1: that true to say lies? That's good. My number six
- 13:38Speaker 1: is actually somewhat based on the true story. And that
- 13:40Speaker 1: is the music that we're hearing right now is Bill
- 13:43Speaker 1: Conti's score from Rocky, which there was a boxer I
- 13:46Speaker 1: want to say Chuck Webner. I could be mistaken on
- 13:50Speaker 1: the name, but he fought Muhammad Ali and went the distance,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and it was the story of a guy who really
- 13:55Speaker 1: had no big professional wins as a boxer and saloon allegedly.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Now there's been lawsuits between that boxer and Stallone because
- 14:04Speaker 1: he said he stole his story. Stallone said, it's an
- 14:06Speaker 1: original story. But I love the story of the underdog.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And that's a common theme, you know, Ghostbusters, these are underdogs,
- 14:13Speaker 1: Happy Gilmour underdogs, you know some of these other movies
- 14:17Speaker 1: moving Forward or about guys that are sort of down
- 14:19Speaker 1: on their luck. And Rocky is a guy who's sort
- 14:22Speaker 1: of a thug. You know, he's taking money from people
- 14:25Speaker 1: to you know that aren't making payments. And he's this
- 14:29Speaker 1: boxer who falls in love with a girl, Adrian, and
- 14:34Speaker 1: she's sort of she's sort of like not all there.
- 14:37Speaker 1: You know, in the sequel she becomes a different character.
- 14:39Speaker 1: All these characters become different in the sequels, and I
- 14:41Speaker 1: like the sequels, but that original movie of you know, Adrian,
- 14:45Speaker 1: I want to say, I don't think it's confirmed, but
- 14:47Speaker 1: she gives off that she might be on the spectrum.
- 14:50Speaker 1: The way she's you know, communicating, and she's very shy,
- 14:53Speaker 1: and the way she relates to Stallone's character of Rocky
- 14:56Speaker 1: at first not being a fan of his and then
- 14:59Speaker 1: sort of falling in love with him. I love that
- 15:02Speaker 1: dynamic of those two. On top of that, you have
- 15:05Speaker 1: Mickey played by Burgess Meredith, this rough and tumble trainer
- 15:09Speaker 1: of his You're a bum rock I love that character.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I love Pauli, Adrian's brother, who's just, you know, this
- 15:17Speaker 1: curmudgeon sort of guy. As the sequels go on, he
- 15:20Speaker 1: lightens up a bit, but that first one he's frightening.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I mean, they have a Thanksgiving dinner and he has
- 15:25Speaker 1: a baseball bat in his strength to beat up Rocky.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And then of course you have the late Great Apollo
- 15:32Speaker 1: Creed played by Carl Weathers, just this flashy, sort of
- 15:36Speaker 1: Muhammad Ali sque character, and the beauty of this movie
- 15:39Speaker 1: is as we wrap up my number six movie is
- 15:42Speaker 1: he doesn't win. That's the beauty of Rocky. A lot
- 15:46Speaker 1: of movies in the seventies had people not win. Bad
- 15:48Speaker 1: News Bears is a sports movie where the team doesn't win.
- 15:51Speaker 1: But that's not the point. You know, it's not a
- 15:52Speaker 1: Disney Life's not a miracle in a lot of senses,
- 15:56Speaker 1: where you know you don't end up winning nine times
- 15:58Speaker 1: out of ten, you're gonna end up losing life. It's
- 16:00Speaker 1: about going that distance, proving to yourself you're capable of
- 16:04Speaker 1: going the distance and fighting the fight. And if you
- 16:06Speaker 1: end up losing, so be it. At least she gave
- 16:08Speaker 1: one hundred and ten percent. And that is such a
- 16:10Speaker 1: good life lesson than Rocky.
- 16:12Speaker 3: You know, I love I love the aspect of that
- 16:15Speaker 3: film that you kind of touched on with Adrian.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Right, A good woman by your side, a supportive like
- 16:20Speaker 4: she was always encouraging, supportive about his dreams and you
- 16:23Speaker 4: can keep going.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Yo, that's important too.
- 16:26Speaker 12: Well.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Even in the sequel, the second one, she has issues
- 16:29Speaker 1: with a pregnancy and then she falls into a coma
- 16:32Speaker 1: and she wakes up and she says fight like that's
- 16:35Speaker 1: the first thing she says, is a get out there
- 16:37Speaker 1: and fight and you're gonna beat Apollo. And I like
- 16:39Speaker 1: the sequels. I love Rocky three, I love Rocky four,
- 16:41Speaker 1: which I know, major honorable mentions. I like the Creed movies.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I even like the bad one Rocky five. But I
- 16:46Speaker 1: got the original og Rocky. In fact, the Rocky series
- 16:48Speaker 1: is my favorite series of all time. But Rocky six
- 16:51Speaker 1: is number six on my list, the original Rocky from
- 16:54Speaker 1: nineteen seventy six, which ended up winning the Oscar for
- 16:56Speaker 1: Best Picture. David, your number six favorite movie of all
- 16:58Speaker 1: time is.
- 16:59Speaker 5: I got other musical singing in the rain.
- 17:03Speaker 1: So that's what I do. I did see, I did seeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I saw this at a film class right here at NCC. Amazing, amazing.
- 17:09Speaker 1: This movie is beautiful to look at. In the choreography
- 17:12Speaker 1: of the dancing.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Oh so good, fashional so good, triple threats all around,
- 17:16Speaker 2: Debbie Reynolds, you know, all those guys. I mean, I
- 17:19Speaker 2: love the music. I love the fact that it's about
- 17:22Speaker 2: making movies. And that's kind of like the transition from
- 17:25Speaker 2: like silent pictures, silent films, to like sound introducing sounds
- 17:29Speaker 2: and stuff. So like actors like they couldn't. They couldn't
- 17:32Speaker 2: just rely on their looks anymore. Yep, they had to
- 17:35Speaker 2: be able to talk.
- 17:36Speaker 1: You know, a lot of those guys couldn't transition, you know,
- 17:39Speaker 1: for you know, Charlie Chaplin was able to go from
- 17:41Speaker 1: silent era to the to the talkie. But for every
- 17:44Speaker 1: Charlie Chaplin, there's probably ten other actors out there that
- 17:47Speaker 1: couldn't make that transition from a silent film star to
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know, somebody that's gonna be in one of those talkies.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And I do love movies about making movies. That's one
- 17:55Speaker 1: of my favorite tropes. There's a movie, Briggsby Bear, which
- 17:58Speaker 1: came out around ten years ago, directed by Kyle Mooney
- 18:01Speaker 1: of SNL, and I thought it was one of my
- 18:04Speaker 1: favorite movies of all time. I do really like that
- 18:07Speaker 1: style of, you know, a group getting together to create something.
- 18:10Speaker 1: It's really inspiring. And yeah, Singing in the Rain is
- 18:13Speaker 1: a fantastic, fantastic music.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Speaking of which, with movies about making movies, you ever
- 18:16Speaker 2: seen be kind Rewind?
- 18:18Speaker 5: I love that.
- 18:18Speaker 1: That's the other one that's bigger. List mentions, list, mentions list, Yeah,
- 18:24Speaker 1: and they parody a lot of movies in that one.
- 18:26Speaker 1: In fact, actually one of my other movies on this
- 18:29Speaker 1: list has a famous scene in be Kind Rewind, so
- 18:32Speaker 1: that comes in that number six for you, Johnny, your
- 18:34Speaker 1: number six favorite movie of all time.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Is Django Unchained.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Now I've seen it.
- 18:41Speaker 3: This is my this is my sweet pleasure though. Like
- 18:44Speaker 3: that movie.
- 18:44Speaker 4: I just enjoy that story, like justice, the actors, the dialogue, music,
- 18:53Speaker 4: the score, the music.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Can you play that track? Can you play one of
- 18:56Speaker 3: those tracks?
- 18:57Speaker 13: Man?
- 18:57Speaker 4: Yo, that's what did it. I was watching this, I
- 19:00Speaker 4: was like, this is this is an awesome movie. I'm
- 19:02Speaker 4: I'm really enjoying this movie. But that ending scene, that
- 19:06Speaker 4: ending scene, and he just goes into that shootout, Uh
- 19:10Speaker 4: you know what I'm talking about. And this mus this,
- 19:12Speaker 4: this score drops this song by one of my favorite artists.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I'm not gonna tip it off till.
- 19:16Speaker 1: You until you pull it up, but I got it
- 19:18Speaker 1: ready to go.
- 19:19Speaker 3: You know.
- 19:20Speaker 4: It's one of those, uh, one of those really classic
- 19:23Speaker 4: out of the box thinkers and producers.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Well Tarantino is I don't think he's made a bad movie.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Uh supposed to pick you know. Actually, my favorite Tarantino
- 19:34Speaker 1: movie might be his most recent one, Once upon a
- 19:35Speaker 1: Time in Hollywood, which is again it's about making movies.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And I love the you know, the acting in that.
- 19:40Speaker 1: But pulp fiction obviously, and Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill
- 19:43Speaker 1: and all of his movies are great. But why don't
- 19:45Speaker 1: we play this one?
- 19:46Speaker 9: Uh?
- 19:47Speaker 1: Should we say who it is? Or just let them?
- 19:49Speaker 4: I just want you to play it. Man, you even
- 19:50Speaker 4: got to rock the whole thing. We can move on
- 19:52Speaker 4: to the next list here a little bit.
- 19:54Speaker 3: You gotta get hyped up.
- 19:55Speaker 1: You got to get.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Into the film, man, talk about music.
- 20:30Speaker 9: Told me all right.
- 20:43Speaker 1: That one of my favorites James Brown.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Yeah, we've got James Brown on the track. But there's
- 20:54Speaker 4: a part in the scene at the end where it's
- 20:57Speaker 4: features this rapper coming up that just set off the
- 21:01Speaker 4: whole tone to the film.
- 21:02Speaker 3: They changed it.
- 21:05Speaker 9: Right there.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Quinn Tarantino could not have picked a better sample.
- 21:13Speaker 1: He's the best when it comes to picking music for movies.
- 21:16Speaker 1: He's made songs relevant that weren't famous or maybe fell
- 21:20Speaker 1: out of favor, and you don't even think about where
- 21:22Speaker 1: they're from. You just go, that's a Tarantino song.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Kill Bill. Ye produce that right? Yeah?
- 21:27Speaker 1: He directed them.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I think Rizza produced the music for that. Legendary producer
- 21:31Speaker 4: from wu tang Rizza, like, is that sick or yeah?
- 21:35Speaker 1: I mean when I hear stuck in the middle of you,
- 21:38Speaker 1: I don't think of, you know, the nineteen seventies. I
- 21:41Speaker 1: think of that scene in Reservoir Dogs when he has
- 21:43Speaker 1: the knife and he's cutting off the ear. Music is
- 21:46Speaker 1: very important, which is something that we've talked about for sure.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Let's move on to our number five. We've cracked the
- 21:51Speaker 1: top five. We got a half an hour left, but
- 21:53Speaker 1: we're gonna get through it. I promise we're gonna get
- 21:55Speaker 1: through our top ten favorite movies of all time. We
- 21:58Speaker 1: got Johnny Brum of Art of Heaven, we got David
- 22:01Speaker 1: ten filmmaker, and we're discussing our favorite movies of all time.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with my number five. We're gonna play
- 22:08Speaker 1: a small little clip from it, and it's an emotional
- 22:12Speaker 1: scene from a movie that's not supposed to be that emotional.
- 22:16Speaker 11: There's not much more we can say. Really, we've lost
- 22:19Speaker 11: someone we.
- 22:20Speaker 9: Love and it hurts.
- 22:22Speaker 11: Even though tom is gone, You'll remain in our lives forever,
- 22:29Speaker 11: comforting us, making us live, and watching over us.
- 22:37Speaker 1: That is a scene from Tommy Boy starring in the
- 22:40Speaker 1: Late Great Chris Farley, David Spade, and Brian Denahey, And
- 22:44Speaker 1: you know, that's an emotional scene. And to me, it's
- 22:47Speaker 1: not only one of the funniest movies of all time,
- 22:49Speaker 1: but the reason why I think it holds up more
- 22:51Speaker 1: so than any comedy is you really care for these
- 22:55Speaker 1: characters and it's about a father and son, and again,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I guess this is the dynamic that really sticks with me.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You know, he loses his dad, who owns a break shop,
- 23:05Speaker 1: brake pad shop, and he has to go on a
- 23:08Speaker 1: sort of road trip with David Spades's character Richard to
- 23:13Speaker 1: sell brake pads because his father was the king of
- 23:15Speaker 1: selling brake pads. And he loses his dad and he
- 23:18Speaker 1: grows a bit up. You know, he's this manchild sort
- 23:21Speaker 1: of character at the beginning, but then he becomes a
- 23:24Speaker 1: really good business man and I love that growth of
- 23:26Speaker 1: that character. And you really feel the emotion because him
- 23:29Speaker 1: and his father had a really great relationship and he
- 23:31Speaker 1: lost his dad, and you know, you have that emotional
- 23:34Speaker 1: scene and Tom Tommy boy played by Chris Farley, really
- 23:38Speaker 1: showed his acting chops in that scene and in a
- 23:40Speaker 1: lot of scenes in these movies. He's really emotional but
- 23:43Speaker 1: really funny. He could do the you know, the comedic
- 23:46Speaker 1: jokes and the physical comedy. Nobody really could touch his
- 23:50Speaker 1: physicality in the nineties, and Tommy Boy is one of
- 23:53Speaker 1: those that really stands the test of time. Celebrating its
- 23:56Speaker 1: thirtieth anniversary this year, comes in that number five for me.
- 23:59Speaker 1: You guys have seen Tommy Boy or now.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Of course I haven't got you?
- 24:04Speaker 1: We got you and Tommy Boys her list, David, Tommy
- 24:09Speaker 1: Boy is U is a masterpiece in my mind.
- 24:11Speaker 5: So I'm pretty sure I saw that blockbuster one time.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I'm sure you have. I just bought the VHS a
- 24:16Speaker 1: few weeks ago because it's an iconic cover as well.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Let's go to your number five, David, What do you
- 24:22Speaker 1: got a number five favorite movie of all time?
- 24:24Speaker 9: Oh?
- 24:24Speaker 5: Man, this is like a comfort movie. This is a
- 24:26Speaker 5: food movie. It's Chef Jon Favreau chef.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yes, I haven't seen this. I've heard it's very good though, Yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 1: I have yet to see it.
- 24:34Speaker 9: Though.
- 24:35Speaker 5: No, I love this movie.
- 24:36Speaker 1: John Favreau directed it.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it came on the cotails. I think of like
- 24:42Speaker 2: Iron Man two around the same time. Yeah, it's a
- 24:45Speaker 2: great movie in the sense of like I always thought
- 24:48Speaker 2: of it as like a commentary on like the relationship
- 24:51Speaker 2: between critics and like the artists, because in the movie Chef,
- 24:55Speaker 2: he's like the artist, right. But then this critic comes
- 24:57Speaker 2: along who doesn't cook, by the way, and says all
- 25:01Speaker 2: this stuff about his cook about his food, and that
- 25:04Speaker 2: it affects the artist or affects him, and he goes off.
- 25:07Speaker 2: He leaves the restaurant business and starts a food truck
- 25:10Speaker 2: and just you know, starts one of this with his son.
- 25:12Speaker 5: You should play, you should play there is.
- 25:14Speaker 3: There is a pretty powerful clip from that.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Let's play a little clip from the movie Chef right
- 25:19Speaker 1: here on radio. Rumble, slow down for a second.
- 25:24Speaker 14: Is this boring to you?
- 25:25Speaker 15: No?
- 25:25Speaker 9: I like it?
- 25:26Speaker 7: Yeah, well I love it.
- 25:28Speaker 14: Everything that's good that's happened to me in my life
- 25:30Speaker 14: came because of that. I might not do everything great
- 25:32Speaker 14: in my life. Okay, I'm not perfect. I'm not the
- 25:35Speaker 14: best husband, and I'm sorry if I wasn't the best father.
- 25:40Speaker 14: But I'm good at this and I want to share
- 25:44Speaker 14: this with you. I want to teach you what I learned.
- 25:48Speaker 14: I get to touch people's lives with what I do,
- 25:52Speaker 14: and it keeps me going. And I love it, and
- 25:55Speaker 14: I think if you give it a shot, you might
- 25:57Speaker 14: love it too. Now should we have served that sandwich?
- 26:03Speaker 11: Oh shah, that's my son.
- 26:06Speaker 7: Get back in there.
- 26:07Speaker 14: We got hungry people.
- 26:08Speaker 1: He's ready to cook. Oh yeah, that's definitely seems like
- 26:15Speaker 1: a movie I would definitely enjoy. Yeah, yeah, there again.
- 26:20Speaker 2: And I love watching this movie. We love looking at
- 26:23Speaker 2: the food.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Is that something? Because I like watching movies where there's
- 26:27Speaker 1: iconic food scenes. You know, Hook has one of those scenes,
- 26:33Speaker 1: or even The Founder, which came out a few years
- 26:35Speaker 1: ago with Michael Keaton, the McDonald's.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Movie that was on my honorable mention.
- 26:38Speaker 1: It's a great movie. And I love eating McDonald's after it.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And why you know, I saw that twice in theaters.
- 26:46Speaker 1: First time we got McDonald's prior to it, second time
- 26:48Speaker 1: we got McDonald's after it.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I don't care what anybody says. Ray Kroc is a genius.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Ye, not the nicest guy, but he knows how shark shark.
- 26:59Speaker 1: All right? So that was your number five? Was Chef Johnny?
- 27:03Speaker 1: Your number five favorite movie of all time.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Is Pursuit of Happiness?
- 27:06Speaker 1: Interesting this movie? Yeah, Will Smith?
- 27:11Speaker 3: This okay? You know this was one of those movies.
- 27:14Speaker 3: True story.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Man, my daughter was on the way and we just
- 27:19Speaker 4: picked a movie to go to, like with not knowing
- 27:24Speaker 4: anything about it. All I read was Pursuit of Happiness.
- 27:27Speaker 4: I did not even know Will Smith was in it.
- 27:29Speaker 4: All right, I don't care what Will Smith did. You
- 27:33Speaker 4: could smack somebody whatever.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I love this movie. Okay.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I liked the movie as well, and she chose that
- 27:39Speaker 1: he has acting chops.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Let me tell you, we walked out of that movie
- 27:42Speaker 4: and just didn't even say a word. They're talking about
- 27:45Speaker 4: having a conversation after a movie.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I was speechless. We were speechless after that movie, like, yo, what.
- 27:54Speaker 5: My films were playing?
- 27:54Speaker 2: And no one could say anything for like five minutes,
- 27:57Speaker 2: and then they would say stuff about my films.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. There's something powerful about that movie.
- 28:02Speaker 9: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 28:03Speaker 4: I mean, look, there's just a scene in it where
- 28:06Speaker 4: he's talking to his son in the basketball court and
- 28:09Speaker 4: he's kind of being harsh with him. He's like, listen,
- 28:12Speaker 4: don't waste all your time playing basketball or whatever, and
- 28:15Speaker 4: the son gets a little discouraged and he goes over.
- 28:18Speaker 4: He takes the basketball, puts it in a plastic bag,
- 28:21Speaker 4: like hell with a bad attitude and then he realized
- 28:24Speaker 4: that dad and realizes what he did. He's like, you
- 28:27Speaker 4: know what, he's like, don't let anybody ever tell you
- 28:31Speaker 4: can't do something.
- 28:32Speaker 3: That's what he That's that's the quote right there. And
- 28:35Speaker 3: I love that part. Man. I just like the struggle,
- 28:38Speaker 3: the underdog struggle.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Is that based on a true story? Yes, a lot
- 28:43Speaker 1: of these movies that were noticing either inspired by true
- 28:47Speaker 1: stories or you know, fully based on a true story.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Let's move on to our number four favorite movie of
- 28:55Speaker 1: all time, and I've I'm I don't know. I'm looking
- 28:59Speaker 1: at this list now, I'm I need to change things up.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I get like, I'm looking at him like this is
- 29:03Speaker 1: this is definitely number one, so hard. But then I'm
- 29:05Speaker 1: looking at this I don't.
- 29:05Speaker 5: Know, it's always changing.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I think, I think for my number four movie, and
- 29:09Speaker 1: that's interesting. I have you two gentlemen on here because
- 29:12Speaker 1: you know you inspired by faith, and you know Johnny
- 29:16Speaker 1: has the religious show Art of Heaven, which airs when Wednesdays, right.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Wednesday's ten pm. And trust me, listen, let me do correcting. Man.
- 29:23Speaker 4: I'm not for a religious religion. Yeah, I'm for a relationship, man,
- 29:27Speaker 4: That's right. You can all have a relationship with God? Man,
- 29:30Speaker 4: I'm gonna like when I think religion, I think rules
- 29:32Speaker 4: and Catholicism, you.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Know what I mean.
- 29:35Speaker 4: But I'm just for a relationship man, just you know,
- 29:38Speaker 4: growing within the spirit.
- 29:39Speaker 3: You know.
- 29:40Speaker 1: So this movie that I'm about to talk about on paper,
- 29:44Speaker 1: you might be thinking, what does this have to do
- 29:47Speaker 1: with religion, But believe it or not, the movie RoboCop
- 29:52Speaker 1: actually has a lot of like an allegory of Christ
- 29:57Speaker 1: and you know, the resurrection of a man and and
- 30:00Speaker 1: the director, Paul Verhoven has a lot of religious themes
- 30:05Speaker 1: in a lot of his movies. I mean, there's a
- 30:06Speaker 1: specific scene in RoboCop where he's actually walking on water
- 30:09Speaker 1: and it's done subtly, like you wouldn't notice it initially,
- 30:12Speaker 1: but when you get pointed it out by the director
- 30:15Speaker 1: in the commentary track. He looked at this movie as
- 30:18Speaker 1: something that is an allegory to Christ. And it's a
- 30:21Speaker 1: bunch of other things. It's science fiction, it's action, it's comedy.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I laugh harder at RoboCop than just about any movie
- 30:28Speaker 1: from that era. I think, you know, it makes fun
- 30:31Speaker 1: of the big businesses of that time. It pokes one
- 30:33Speaker 1: of the government it pokes one of police officers, you know,
- 30:36Speaker 1: in the brutality of some some things that happened in
- 30:39Speaker 1: the police force. And it's just a really fantastic movie
- 30:43Speaker 1: with fantastic special effects. In that character of Alex Murphy
- 30:47Speaker 1: getting transformed into RoboCop as one. I'll never forget watching
- 30:50Speaker 1: that one for the first time as a young kid.
- 30:52Speaker 1: So RoboCop I have at number four on my list.
- 30:56Speaker 3: I'm going home and watching that over again. It's so
- 30:57Speaker 3: good a minute.
- 30:58Speaker 1: The original, it's great. The sequel is really violent. RoboCop
- 31:02Speaker 1: two and like really like to the point where it's
- 31:06Speaker 1: like a little too much at times, you know, the
- 31:08Speaker 1: kids in there cursing and doing a lot of mischievous things.
- 31:12Speaker 1: But I still love RoboCop too. RoboCop three they actually
- 31:15Speaker 1: rated PG thirteen, and you can't have a RoboCop movie
- 31:19Speaker 1: rated PG thirteen. It needs to be rated are Maybe
- 31:23Speaker 1: there's been talks about bringing it back and doing another RoboCop,
- 31:27Speaker 1: but I think just watch the original. Like you said, Johnny,
- 31:30Speaker 1: you're number four, Johnny, let's move to you.
- 31:32Speaker 3: What do you have Caine?
- 31:33Speaker 1: Citizen Kane? I had to That's a great one.
- 31:37Speaker 3: I just love it.
- 31:37Speaker 4: I like that movie because the standard is set the
- 31:41Speaker 4: the out of the box thinking. The techniques they use
- 31:44Speaker 4: for that film, yes, changed the whole industry.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Just a masterpiece. Orson Welds. We actually have an Orson
- 31:51Speaker 1: Wellds movie later on in my list, believe it or not.
- 31:54Speaker 1: But he directed that and wrote it and starred in it.
- 31:57Speaker 1: And like you said, set the bar. You look at
- 32:00Speaker 1: a lot of movies from the thirties and forties and
- 32:03Speaker 1: you just look at the way they're shot, very stagnant.
- 32:06Speaker 1: You know, the camera's not moving. There are scenes in
- 32:08Speaker 1: Citizen Kane where the cameras zooming in and flowing in,
- 32:12Speaker 1: and there's just so many things that we take for
- 32:15Speaker 1: granted with modern cinema that you got with, you know,
- 32:19Speaker 1: with Citizen Kane, Setting the bar, And that is just
- 32:22Speaker 1: definitely one of my absolute favorites as well. Johnny, fantastic choice, David,
- 32:26Speaker 1: what do you got at number four in your list?
- 32:28Speaker 1: Favorite movie of all time?
- 32:29Speaker 5: Is another comfort movie.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Great soundtrack, great voices in some of the tracks on
- 32:35Speaker 2: the soundtrack. My fiance and I love watching this on repeat.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Prince of Egypt. Prince of Egypt, is that with val
- 32:43Speaker 2: Ki the Lake?
- 32:44Speaker 1: Val Kilmer, Yeah, just passed away.
- 32:47Speaker 5: I'll know what.
- 32:47Speaker 3: There is a sample from that movie.
- 32:49Speaker 5: We should watch that one. Yeah, that's a good sample.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Let me find that for you.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Basically, what happens in the sample is, uh, this is
- 32:56Speaker 2: like the burning bush scene. Everyone's familiar with the burning
- 32:58Speaker 2: bush and this is like a conversation between Moses and God.
- 33:02Speaker 2: It's like, man, when there's a task given to you,
- 33:06Speaker 2: you have all these questions, like, man, I can't do it.
- 33:09Speaker 5: But then God's like, I'm with you.
- 33:11Speaker 3: He's like, you're choosing me, You're picking me.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Yeah, let's hear.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Let's hear a little bit of the Prince of Egypt
- 33:16Speaker 1: right here on radio. Rumble, what do you want with me?
- 33:23Speaker 13: I have seen the oppression now my people in Egypt,
- 33:27Speaker 13: and have heard their cry.
- 33:31Speaker 5: Stop me, leave that man.
- 33:33Speaker 13: So I have come down to deliver them out of
- 33:36Speaker 13: slavery and bring them to a good land, a land
- 33:43Speaker 13: flowing with milk and honey and so unto Pharaoh. I
- 33:53Speaker 13: shall send.
- 33:55Speaker 11: You me.
- 33:59Speaker 15: Who am I to leave these people?
- 34:01Speaker 13: They'll never believe me.
- 34:02Speaker 7: They won't even listen.
- 34:04Speaker 13: I shall teach you what to say.
- 34:10Speaker 7: But I was their enemy. I was the Prince of.
- 34:13Speaker 13: Egypt, the son of the man who slaughtered their children.
- 34:18Speaker 1: You've chosen the wrong messenger.
- 34:19Speaker 7: How can I even speak to these people who.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Made man out, who made the death of the mute,
- 34:27Speaker 2: the seeing or the blind?
- 34:29Speaker 3: Did not?
- 34:29Speaker 9: I now go, Moses.
- 34:48Speaker 15: I should be with you when you go to the
- 34:50Speaker 15: king of Egypt.
- 34:53Speaker 7: But Pharaoh will not listen.
- 34:59Speaker 15: So I will stretch out my hand and smite Egypt
- 35:05Speaker 15: with all my wonders. Take the staff your hand, Moses.
- 35:16Speaker 15: With it, you shall do my wonders. I shall be
- 35:27Speaker 15: with you, Moses.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Wow, that is some powerful stuff, some great music. Con
- 35:34Speaker 1: Zimmer one of the goats, for sure.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Go back and read this story. Read the story. That's
- 35:40Speaker 4: a good one.
- 35:41Speaker 1: So that was your number? What number was that for you?
- 35:44Speaker 9: David?
- 35:44Speaker 1: Was that number number?
- 35:45Speaker 9: Three?
- 35:45Speaker 1: Four?
- 35:46Speaker 14: Four?
- 35:47Speaker 5: One two three four?
- 35:49Speaker 1: What do we got? What do we got for your
- 35:51Speaker 1: Where are we up to? Johnny? Your number three right already?
- 35:53Speaker 3: All right?
- 35:54Speaker 1: So why don't we do my number three then? And
- 35:56Speaker 1: that would be e T the extraterrestrial, which we talked.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I've talked about it so many times on the show,
- 36:02Speaker 1: so I'm just gonna breeze through it. The Master Steven
- 36:05Speaker 1: Spielberg went an amazing story the visuals. I love the
- 36:09Speaker 1: fact that it was filmed in chronological order because you
- 36:12Speaker 1: really got the young child actors emotionally attached to the
- 36:15Speaker 1: character of Et. And you have Drew barrd Moore, who's
- 36:18Speaker 1: really not even acting when ET's dying. At the end,
- 36:21Speaker 1: she's legitimately upset about it. It's a masterpiece. It's one
- 36:24Speaker 1: that every kid should watch. It's aged tremendously, and it's
- 36:28Speaker 1: a movie that I try and watch at least once
- 36:30Speaker 1: a year. Et comes into number three.
- 36:32Speaker 3: You know what did it for me?
- 36:33Speaker 9: What?
- 36:33Speaker 3: The Reese's Pieces? Man?
- 36:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, Yeah, there.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Was something about Theresa's Pieces.
- 36:39Speaker 12: Bro.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I want to know something funny. Mars, the company that
- 36:42Speaker 1: makes em and M's, was offered that contract and they said, yeah,
- 36:46Speaker 1: we're good. And then Reese's Pieces sales skyrocketed after that movie,
- 36:51Speaker 1: and I'm sure the Mars company was kicking itself for
- 36:54Speaker 1: not signing up with ended up being the highest grossing
- 36:57Speaker 1: movie of all time for a number of years. Back
- 37:00Speaker 1: in nineteen eighty two. Et the Extraterrestrial comes in at
- 37:03Speaker 1: number three, David, Your number three favorite movie of all time.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Is Night's Tale. A Night's Tale. Heath Ledger, another Heath
- 37:08Speaker 2: Ledger movie A Man.
- 37:10Speaker 1: That's got some fun scenes for it. What was that like,
- 37:13Speaker 1: early two thousands or so?
- 37:15Speaker 5: Yeah, two thousand and one. Bit anachronistic, but that's fine.
- 37:18Speaker 5: I love this movie.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I love that, you know, there's a guy who just
- 37:22Speaker 2: pretends to be someone else for a long time, finds glory,
- 37:26Speaker 2: find success, but then really, at the end of the day,
- 37:28Speaker 2: guts to be who is meant to be, just William Thatcher.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but I love I love that movie too.
- 37:34Speaker 3: That is I still is.
- 37:35Speaker 1: A fantastic one, a real fun one. Definitely one I
- 37:38Speaker 1: need to revisit. Johnny, we're up to your number three
- 37:41Speaker 1: favorite movie of all time?
- 37:43Speaker 4: Is I've been talking about this all day? Man Batman
- 37:46Speaker 4: begins number three?
- 37:48Speaker 1: All right, So you like it better than any other
- 37:50Speaker 1: Batman movie? I do, interesting, I do. What do you
- 37:53Speaker 1: like about it?
- 37:54Speaker 4: There was just something that hit me so deep, Like
- 37:58Speaker 4: when I walked out of that movie a couple of
- 38:00Speaker 4: years ago, I didn't I went in there and I
- 38:02Speaker 4: just I don't know. I just like the beginning stories
- 38:05Speaker 4: about overcoming his fear of bats and how it kind
- 38:08Speaker 4: of it gave him.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Bolt context for everything.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it shows you like Okay, how was the
- 38:14Speaker 1: Batcave founded? How who created this vehicle? How did the
- 38:17Speaker 1: armor come about? It's all these questions you had as
- 38:20Speaker 1: a kid, because the other Batman movies would briefly touch
- 38:22Speaker 1: upon the origin. It's like, oh, they show the iconic
- 38:25Speaker 1: scene of the Waynes getting shot and the jokey.
- 38:28Speaker 4: About it, Like, yeah, there's so many emotional aspects to
- 38:31Speaker 4: that film, and he really wants to do good, you know,
- 38:35Speaker 4: he goes away, gets trained, comes back and kicks.
- 38:38Speaker 1: But well, yeah, I love the Batman series, and Batman Begins,
- 38:42Speaker 1: I think doesn't really get talked about as much as
- 38:44Speaker 1: The Dark Knight, but I think it's a really good movie.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And uh, definitely one of my favorites. So let's go
- 38:50Speaker 1: to uh, David, do we do your number three? I'm
- 38:53Speaker 1: very confused right now. There's so many numbers. Number three
- 38:58Speaker 1: all right, so what we're up to? The number two?
- 38:59Speaker 9: Then?
- 39:00Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 39:00Speaker 9: Perfect? Right now?
- 39:01Speaker 1: Now, So my number two favorite movie of all time
- 39:05Speaker 1: is a movie I did have the pleasure of seeing
- 39:07Speaker 1: in theaters back when I was four and a half
- 39:09Speaker 1: years old, and this movie changed my life. And it's
- 39:12Speaker 1: another Spielberg movie. It is Jurassic Park coming out in
- 39:15Speaker 1: nineteen ninety three. This movie blended the amazing practical effects
- 39:19Speaker 1: of Stan Winston Studios mixed with the revolutionary computer generated
- 39:23Speaker 1: images of industrial light and magic. Plus you have the
- 39:27Speaker 1: iconic characters that you know, you have great special effects,
- 39:30Speaker 1: that's one thing. But if you don't have the characters
- 39:32Speaker 1: that go behind it, and you have the great Ian
- 39:34Speaker 1: Malcolm played by Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neil playing Alan Grant,
- 39:37Speaker 1: Laura Durren, you know Wayne Knight Is, Dennis Ndrie, Samuel L. Jackson,
- 39:41Speaker 1: John Hammond, all these characters and actors that have stood
- 39:44Speaker 1: the test of time in iconic I'm constantly quoting this movie,
- 39:48Speaker 1: whether I'm saying clever girl, or if I'm stuck in
- 39:50Speaker 1: traffic and somebody's going slow, I go must go faster.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I'm constantly quoting Jurassic Park, the music by John Williams.
- 39:57Speaker 1: It's a masterpiece and one that has aged and stood
- 39:59Speaker 1: the test the time as well.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Hold on to your butts.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Yeah, whenever I turn on a light, hold on to
- 40:04Speaker 1: your butts.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I was sold in the first five minutes of that movie.
- 40:08Speaker 4: If you remember, Yeah, but does it but doesn't compete
- 40:10Speaker 4: with Land Before Time?
- 40:12Speaker 1: Different types of movies as much trauma. I'd say, yeah, definitely.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I'm more of a land before time guy.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I have a far time. It's fantastic. I'm not gonna bets. Yes,
- 40:22Speaker 1: if you're a kid and don't like dinosaurs, something must
- 40:25Speaker 1: be up. Let's go to your number two, Johnny. I
- 40:27Speaker 1: know you're really excited to talk about your number one
- 40:29Speaker 1: and number two movies.
- 40:31Speaker 3: This movie is is a tier jerker.
- 40:33Speaker 4: It's so deep, man, It's a true story, and we
- 40:37Speaker 4: have to play the clips from it to give context.
- 40:40Speaker 4: It's gonna change your life. You go and watch this movie.
- 40:42Speaker 4: It's called Glass Castle.
- 40:44Speaker 1: All right, why don't we play clip Numero uno?
- 40:47Speaker 9: Then?
- 40:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and this is a lot to regret in my life.
- 40:50Speaker 1: I guess Okay, actually.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Can you you know what? Can you play the other
- 40:52Speaker 3: one first?
- 40:53Speaker 4: You got it, Johnny, I'd probably put them backwards, but
- 40:55Speaker 4: it's all good.
- 40:56Speaker 3: It's about this.
- 40:57Speaker 4: So this family this Okay, these pairs raised their kids
- 41:01Speaker 4: and they were very, very broke in poverty, and the
- 41:05Speaker 4: dad was an alcoholic, and they always went from place
- 41:08Speaker 4: to place. They could never stay in one place. They
- 41:10Speaker 4: snuck out and ditched landlords and it was just a
- 41:13Speaker 4: really rough upbringing. And now the young girl has become
- 41:18Speaker 4: successful and she literally comes across her parents homeless in
- 41:22Speaker 4: New York City. This is the distinction. So they come
- 41:26Speaker 4: looking to get money from her, and this is the scene.
- 41:28Speaker 1: All right, let's play a little bit from the glass Castle.
- 41:32Speaker 16: You know how I was telling you about my brother
- 41:34Speaker 16: selling his half a mom's land in Texas. Well, now
- 41:38Speaker 16: that you're getting married and you have all these nice things,
- 41:43Speaker 16: we were thinking that maybe we could borrow the money
- 41:48Speaker 16: to buy it.
- 41:50Speaker 17: So the only reason why you're being nice to David
- 41:52Speaker 17: is because you want his money.
- 41:54Speaker 1: No, it's not the only reason.
- 41:56Speaker 16: So just a nice person.
- 41:58Speaker 3: You're a nice person.
- 41:59Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 42:00Speaker 10: We wouldn't ask if it wasn't urgent.
- 42:02Speaker 9: Honey.
- 42:04Speaker 3: How much? Oh, let's not get.
- 42:05Speaker 6: Out about a million?
- 42:09Speaker 17: A million dollars a little under. What if Uncle Jim's
- 42:17Speaker 17: land is worth that much than yours is too?
- 42:20Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 42:21Speaker 17: I never had it appraise that.
- 42:24Speaker 16: My father taught me you never sell land.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Good advice.
- 42:28Speaker 9: All right.
- 42:31Speaker 17: Grandma Smith died when I was eleven. Have you been
- 42:35Speaker 17: sitting on a million dollars since I was eleven?
- 42:38Speaker 5: No?
- 42:39Speaker 18: No, it appreciates over time, it escalates.
- 42:43Speaker 17: You knew about this. Do you realize what we could
- 42:48Speaker 17: have done with that money?
- 42:49Speaker 3: I don't want my kids raised on my damn hand out?
- 42:52Speaker 17: What the hell?
- 42:53Speaker 1: What the hell is wrong with you?
- 42:57Speaker 3: Nice rosy mountain?
- 43:02Speaker 17: Go don't ever call me that again.
- 43:05Speaker 1: H Jeanette, David, please come on.
- 43:07Speaker 18: You know you're upset, but let's just go back and
- 43:09Speaker 18: talk about this.
- 43:11Speaker 11: Dad.
- 43:12Speaker 17: Why do you think all of us ran away from you?
- 43:15Speaker 1: We were drowning.
- 43:17Speaker 17: I still don't understand why you followed us here.
- 43:20Speaker 16: We wanted to be a family again.
- 43:22Speaker 17: We were never a family.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Mom, We were a nightmare.
- 43:25Speaker 18: Your mama and I did everything we could for you.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Okay, we looked after you, family.
- 43:30Speaker 9: We did it.
- 43:32Speaker 17: We took care of each other.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Because you were too drunk too.
- 43:37Speaker 16: It was your job to protect us and you didn't
- 43:40Speaker 16: even try.
- 43:41Speaker 18: That ain't true, Okay, you got some kind of weird
- 43:44Speaker 18: provisionist history going on.
- 43:46Speaker 3: You were happy kids, stop, and they were happy kids.
- 43:49Speaker 11: Stop.
- 43:49Speaker 3: We looked happy and that's stopped. Talking.
- 43:52Speaker 13: Talking is not trying.
- 43:56Speaker 1: You talked my whole damn life.
- 44:00Speaker 17: I believed you.
- 44:04Speaker 5: Don't they don't do this.
- 44:08Speaker 17: I don't want you in my life. I don't want
- 44:12Speaker 17: you to call or write or show up out of
- 44:14Speaker 17: the blue.
- 44:14Speaker 1: I don't want another one of your stories.
- 44:16Speaker 9: I don't want to see.
- 44:17Speaker 5: You anymore.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Emotional stuff here, Johnny, you trying to make us all cry.
- 44:26Speaker 3: No, so listen, man.
- 44:27Speaker 4: She comes to a point where she's got to set
- 44:29Speaker 4: a boundary with her own parents, and it's heartbreaking.
- 44:33Speaker 3: It's heartbreaking. But I have another clip will jump right into.
- 44:36Speaker 4: And this is when basically his alcoholism kind of catches
- 44:39Speaker 4: up to him and he talks to her.
- 44:47Speaker 18: I spent my whole life hunting for those demons in
- 44:55Speaker 18: the wild, and the entire time they were riding inside
- 45:01Speaker 18: my own belly.
- 45:07Speaker 19: Sad state. To spend your life in.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Being afraid of your own self.
- 45:20Speaker 19: On easy on your kids, A lot to regret about
- 45:29Speaker 19: my life.
- 45:33Speaker 1: There's an example of Johnny's number two favorite movie of
- 45:37Speaker 1: all time, The Glass Castle, and right here on the
- 45:40Speaker 1: radio rumble, I got Johnny Brumman of Art of Heaven.
- 45:43Speaker 1: We got filmmaker d Ten in the house. David, where
- 45:46Speaker 1: can people find you again? If if they're interested in
- 45:49Speaker 1: finding some of your work? You got a website and
- 45:51Speaker 1: social media right.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Yeah, David M ten dot com and on Instagram David Tangible.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Which I failed at spelling, but tangible. Let's go to
- 46:02Speaker 1: your number two favorite movie of all time, David. This
- 46:05Speaker 1: is definitely one of my favorites and the director that
- 46:08Speaker 1: we talked about just a little moment ago. Where do
- 46:10Speaker 1: you have at number.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Two, David, Brave Heart.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Brave Heart an epic. That's an epic.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Yes, you know, I almost had Gladiator on here, but
- 46:18Speaker 2: I was like, no, I saw Brave Heart first, so
- 46:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna give it to Brave Heart.
- 46:21Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 46:22Speaker 5: No, epic movie.
- 46:23Speaker 2: I love it, love story in there, war battle scenes,
- 46:28Speaker 2: you know, acting performance. The crazy thing is that Mel
- 46:31Speaker 2: Gibson directed the movie and also is William Wallace, which
- 46:35Speaker 2: is nuts because he's in the kilt and had the
- 46:37Speaker 2: long hair.
- 46:38Speaker 5: No, no, he doesn't.
- 46:38Speaker 3: He's crazy.
- 46:39Speaker 2: I have no idea, but man, it's it's it's heartbreaking too,
- 46:43Speaker 2: but man, you just see somebody who just sticks to
- 46:45Speaker 2: his principles, like all the way to the end. You know,
- 46:48Speaker 2: sometimes you like have something to live for, but man,
- 46:51Speaker 2: what are you willing to die for? And this is
- 46:53Speaker 2: one of those movies to think about and reflect on
- 46:56Speaker 2: those things.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I want to play a scene from Brave Heart right
- 46:59Speaker 1: here on Radio Rumble.
- 47:01Speaker 12: No lady Sir, I'll come to beg you to confess
- 47:10Speaker 12: all and swear allegiance to the King that natural your mercy.
- 47:15Speaker 7: Will you show mercy to my country?
- 47:19Speaker 12: Mercy is to die quickly, perhaps even live in a
- 47:22Speaker 12: tower in time. Who knows what can happen.
- 47:27Speaker 9: If you cannot believe.
- 47:32Speaker 6: If I swear to him and.
- 47:34Speaker 7: All that I am. I stayed already who died?
- 47:44Speaker 9: Will beautiful?
- 47:46Speaker 7: Every man dies? Now every man really lives?
- 47:53Speaker 5: Oh man?
- 47:57Speaker 1: And there's you know, great music in this movie. James Horner,
- 48:01Speaker 1: I believe does.
- 48:02Speaker 3: James score well?
- 48:03Speaker 1: Fortunately passed away from a plane crash. But let's go
- 48:07Speaker 1: to number one. We reached the mountaintop our favorite movies
- 48:11Speaker 1: of all time. And I'm gonna play a clip from
- 48:13Speaker 1: my favorite movie of all time, which I've talked about
- 48:15Speaker 1: way too much. And I mentioned there's an Orson Wells
- 48:17Speaker 1: movie that's later on in my list, And believe it
- 48:19Speaker 1: or not, this is the last row of Orson Wells
- 48:22Speaker 1: and it's not a good movie, but it is my
- 48:24Speaker 1: favorite movie of all time.
- 48:26Speaker 7: My tron must be stopped, no matter the cost.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so I believe it or not. Transformers the movie
- 48:47Speaker 1: from nineteen eighty six. Favorite movie of all time Orson
- 48:50Speaker 1: Welds plays Unicorn. Who's with the big Battie in that movie?
- 48:54Speaker 1: I love it. I understand it's not good, but it's
- 48:57Speaker 1: something that's very nostalgic to me. I've seen well over
- 49:00Speaker 1: i'd say three hundred times. There was a point in
- 49:02Speaker 1: my life where I'd watch it once a month. When
- 49:04Speaker 1: you're a kid, you would watch it NonStop. I collect
- 49:07Speaker 1: Transformers toys. I go to Transformers conventions. I've seen this
- 49:10Speaker 1: movie on the big screen multiple times. I have it
- 49:12Speaker 1: on VHS, Blu ray, DVD, all the formats that you
- 49:15Speaker 1: could get it. I got the comic books. I love it.
- 49:17Speaker 1: It's great animation and great music, and if you're a
- 49:19Speaker 1: fan of the eighties, it's a quintessential eighties film.
- 49:22Speaker 9: Wow.
- 49:23Speaker 3: I respect it. Wow, I respect you.
- 49:25Speaker 5: Jay, Wow Surprise.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Actually, let's move to you, Johnny. You got your number
- 49:30Speaker 1: one movie, which is another one based on the true story,
- 49:34Speaker 1: and it's one that is another boxing movie.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Right, yes, sir.
- 49:38Speaker 4: So look, when I went and made this list, I
- 49:42Speaker 4: considered the movies. I didn't even think about the actors.
- 49:45Speaker 4: Then I looked at the list when I woke up
- 49:47Speaker 4: today and I was like, the top two of my
- 49:49Speaker 4: favorite actors right number two glass Castle was Woody Harrison.
- 49:54Speaker 4: But this number one film, Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe
- 50:00Speaker 4: is my all time favorite movie. It's a great one
- 50:04Speaker 4: one underdog true story boxing. It's it's up there man
- 50:10Speaker 4: with Rocky Man like.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Not as iconic, but it certainly goes blow for blow
- 50:15Speaker 1: like it's holds one of that.
- 50:17Speaker 4: I think about my grandpa talking about going through the depression.
- 50:21Speaker 3: That's when it takes place.
- 50:23Speaker 4: You know, he's in the milk line getting bread and
- 50:26Speaker 4: and he uh, basically storyline is he you know, he's
- 50:29Speaker 4: a he's a boxer. He's doing really good, he's actually
- 50:32Speaker 4: coming up and he's getting paid to feed his family
- 50:34Speaker 4: from boxing. But then he breaks his wrist and he
- 50:37Speaker 4: still tries to fight to pay bills and he loses
- 50:40Speaker 4: a fight and he's kind of shamed. So he's in
- 50:44Speaker 4: there for a while in the working the shipping yard,
- 50:46Speaker 4: through the depression, and he there's a point in the
- 50:49Speaker 4: film where he can't even feed his own kids, and
- 50:52Speaker 4: he goes back into the boxing offices and he asks,
- 50:56Speaker 4: he basically begs for money. He says, I wouldn't be
- 50:59Speaker 4: here if I could, If I had any other choice,
- 51:02Speaker 4: and he's asking for when he's so humbling, and sure
- 51:06Speaker 4: enough he gets one more fight back true story.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Go watch it.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Cinderella Man with the Great Russell Kroue is Johnny's number

- 52:18Speaker 2: It was amazing the movie, the themes about hope, about
- 52:22Speaker 2: you know, what it means to be like feeling trapped,
- 52:25Speaker 2: you know, about all that stuff, and and and holding
- 52:27Speaker 2: on to hope, and and and imagining what it's like
- 52:30Speaker 2: to be on the outside and things like that.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Overcoming, overcoming. Yeah, he was he was framed, right, he
- 52:37Speaker 3: wasn't and he wasn't guilty.
- 52:39Speaker 2: This is so the movie takes place before Miranda rights,
- 52:43Speaker 2: So this is before he could like, this is before
- 52:46Speaker 2: like you're you're not innocent until proven guilty.
- 52:49Speaker 5: It's like guilty until proven innocent kind of times.
- 52:52Speaker 2: So it's like, yeah, no, but the movie talking about
- 52:54Speaker 2: hope and everything like that, this whole conversation about hope.
- 52:56Speaker 5: I wish you could play the clip. I don't know

- 53:11Speaker 1: of old movies.
- 53:11Speaker 5: It's cool old movies. You play old ads from the
- 53:13Speaker 5: time movie comes out.

- 53:26Speaker 2: think about Jesus, think about you know, all those sort
- 53:29Speaker 2: of things that that is really at the core of
- 53:32Speaker 2: what it means to be human, you know, and and
- 53:34Speaker 2: things we get wrong about being human too, and things
- 53:36Speaker 2: we you know, I think. Yeah, Morgan Freem and Tim Robbins,
