- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Cracking power play.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Look, this is the Kraking Postgame Show, brought to you
- 0:05Speaker 2: by Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look
- 0:09Speaker 2: at your Kraken Hockey. It's the post game on the
- 0:12Speaker 2: Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network.
- 0:17Speaker 1: For the final times and night.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Welcome back inside a climbing pledge arena alongside al Kiniski.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I am eward fits you two to one Cracking fall
- 0:25Speaker 3: in the shootout to Columbus, and I don't know about you, partner,
- 0:29Speaker 3: but I don't know too many one to one games
- 0:32Speaker 3: that were as exciting as this one here. It was
- 0:35Speaker 3: a goaltending battle. Jet Greaves one better than Matt Murray.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Second game in a row. Matt Murray has been all
- 0:43Speaker 3: but unbeatable and actually only one better in the shootout.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I mean, only one goal allowed for Matt Murray here tonight.
- 0:51Speaker 3: But Kracking could not come away with the extra point.
- 0:53Speaker 4: No, they couldn't. And you know, the only goal that
- 0:55Speaker 4: he gave up in regulation was a five to one
- 0:57Speaker 4: three goal that he got forty nine and a half
- 1:00Speaker 4: percent of the shot in the.
- 1:02Speaker 1: After he sold out and the goal crease and all
- 1:04Speaker 1: of it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that was after a sequence of saves
- 1:06Speaker 4: and you had to dive across to try and get
- 1:08Speaker 4: that back door open net save and he was inches
- 1:11Speaker 4: away from making the highlight reel on ESPN.
- 1:15Speaker 3: So after this one partner, I mean again, I think defensively,
- 1:18Speaker 3: you know what this team is about. Do you notice
- 1:21Speaker 3: anything offensively? Are you frustrated? What more can the crack
- 1:24Speaker 3: and do? It's not like they're getting they're not getting opportunity.
- 1:27Speaker 3: That's not like they're not getting good looks. They've got
- 1:30Speaker 3: the good personnel in the eyes. But for whatever reason,
- 1:32Speaker 3: in the last two nights, they've run into some real
- 1:34Speaker 3: hot goaltenders.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I mean it's like creating an attributes in a video game.
- 1:39Speaker 4: If you could turn up an attribute, what would it be?
- 1:42Speaker 4: I would probably turn up the power play a little bit,
- 1:44Speaker 4: you know, zero for two tonight, oh for five over
- 1:46Speaker 4: the last two games. And I and I think that
- 1:49Speaker 4: that that sniper. You're just missing that sniper. You saw
- 1:52Speaker 4: that with Marchenko there on the Yeah, on the shootout,
- 1:55Speaker 4: he's a sniper. And that's why he put his team
- 1:57Speaker 4: on the board. Fortunately he told them and tied it
- 1:59Speaker 4: up out for that. It was Chardie Cole that got
- 2:01Speaker 4: the winning goal. But you know you need those snipers
- 2:03Speaker 4: on your team, and right now I think the closest
- 2:05Speaker 4: thing to a sniper is Jared McCann. He's out of
- 2:07Speaker 4: the lineup.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I was about to say he's still no word on
- 2:09Speaker 3: Jared mccannon has been out for a few weeks now,
- 2:13Speaker 3: and I think if you're Seattle, you're wondering a when
- 2:15Speaker 3: is he coming back? But also Freddie Gadreau, who is
- 2:19Speaker 3: really good in the shootout and that could have been
- 2:20Speaker 3: an area for him.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Still no word on Joey Decord.
- 2:23Speaker 3: We're hoping as this week progresses, with Winnipeg coming in
- 2:26Speaker 3: here Thursday, San Jose on Saturday, you get some type
- 2:30Speaker 3: of word on those three. I will say Freddie Gadroaux
- 2:33Speaker 3: this morning was seen skating in practice, active participant in
- 2:37Speaker 3: morning skate with a non contact jersey. So typically in
- 2:41Speaker 3: that situation, players usually like to get four days of
- 2:44Speaker 3: practice work in. Would not surprise me one bit to
- 2:48Speaker 3: see him on the road trip next week and maybe
- 2:50Speaker 3: he gets back in the lineup in either Detroit, Chicago,
- 2:54Speaker 3: Pittsburgh or on Long Island next week.
- 2:56Speaker 1: But crack and fall.
- 2:57Speaker 3: You're two to one to the Columbus Blue Jackets in
- 3:00Speaker 3: a shootout. Let's pause for a station identification on the
- 3:03Speaker 3: Global Credit Union in Cracking Audio Network two one Jackets
- 3:17Speaker 3: over Seattle, al over to you to close this out.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yeah, Matt Murray again, what best game I've seen him
- 3:22Speaker 4: play so far this season. Like I said, only goal
- 3:24Speaker 4: given up was on the five to one three. The
- 3:26Speaker 4: power play has got to get a little bit better.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Oh for to tonight over five over the last two
- 3:30Speaker 4: game games. Penalties that's another attribute to me turned down
- 3:34Speaker 4: a little bit. Crackett had four minors tonight, Columbus Blue
- 3:38Speaker 4: Jackets with two. But I want to highlight a couple
- 3:40Speaker 4: of things as well. Ben Myers, fantastic game for him tonight.
- 3:44Speaker 4: One assist, plus one, four shots on goal two hits
- 3:47Speaker 4: best game I've seen him play. And I think he
- 3:49Speaker 4: led that fourth line tonight. Which is my last takeaway
- 3:51Speaker 4: is the fourth line had an excellent game tonight. I
- 3:55Speaker 4: appreciate and respect all the time they were given on
- 3:57Speaker 4: the ice to do their work. Three stars brought to
- 4:00Speaker 4: you by Mamakay. Third starting to night was Ryan Winterton
- 4:04Speaker 4: from that fourth line. He had a goal and was
- 4:06Speaker 4: plus one. Second star goes to Cracking goaltender Matt Murray.
- 4:09Speaker 4: He stopped thirty four of thirty five and the first
- 4:12Speaker 4: star goes to Charitie Coil of the Columbus Bluejackets, who
- 4:15Speaker 4: had the winning goal in the shootout.
- 4:17Speaker 3: I think Mamakay misses us being back out east because
- 4:20Speaker 3: those three stars come in seven o'clock. Mamakay can get
- 4:24Speaker 3: the cribbage game ready to go, but now Mamakay's falling asleep,
- 4:28Speaker 3: ready to go to bed. That'll do it for us
- 4:30Speaker 3: here in the booth, Mike Benton on the course light
- 4:33Speaker 3: landing section twenty set to take you the rest of
- 4:36Speaker 3: the way, mikey Bee down to you.
- 4:39Speaker 5: A lot to talk about here for this evening, guys,
- 4:41Speaker 5: great call, thank you very much once again. And it's
- 4:43Speaker 5: one of those by the finest of Margins type of games,
- 4:46Speaker 5: Matt Murray Zalkiniski said, maybe his best game yet so far. Unfortunately,
- 4:51Speaker 5: no offense or not much to back him up here
- 4:53Speaker 5: with the Kraken found life hard to come buy in
- 4:55Speaker 5: big spots. Jack Grieves down the other way, helping lead
- 4:59Speaker 5: the way for an emotion win for Columbus in the
- 5:01Speaker 5: shootout as they finished back to back and also battling
- 5:04Speaker 5: illness as well, so the Cracking get a point out
- 5:06Speaker 5: of it, but a tough way to drop this one
- 5:08Speaker 5: and a shootout to one your final score to open
- 5:10Speaker 5: the homestand and climbate pledge arena, and we have a
- 5:13Speaker 5: lot more to cover. A Zalkoniski joining us later on
- 5:16Speaker 5: here this evening, we have highlights coming your way, plus
- 5:19Speaker 5: our scores, more reaction from downstairs, and much more Texas

- 8:08Speaker 5: for a game that the crack At once again gave
- 8:11Speaker 5: you what you could ask for, battling all the way
- 8:13Speaker 5: to the end, keeping matters tight, but unfortunately Columbus gets
- 8:17Speaker 5: the last say this evening in a shootout the eventful
- 8:20Speaker 5: goal to Charlie Coyle to wrap it up as a
- 8:22Speaker 5: crack and fall two to one here in a shootout
- 8:25Speaker 5: to the Columbus Blue Jackets, finding a way to get
- 8:28Speaker 5: a point out of this one in the opener of
- 8:30Speaker 5: this homestand and the crack and move, and their record
- 8:33Speaker 5: is seven four and five. They have nineteen points in Columbus,
- 8:37Speaker 5: who midtally ends their set of back to back games,
- 8:39Speaker 5: also battling illness throughout much their dressing room with a
- 8:43Speaker 5: pretty emotional lift. Their win improves them to eight seven
- 8:46Speaker 5: and one. They have seventeen points ending their five game
- 8:50Speaker 5: road trip. The Kraken record now five to one and
- 8:53Speaker 5: three against the Blue Jackets head to head and now
- 8:55Speaker 5: four or other three to zero and two all time
- 8:58Speaker 5: here at Climbing Plied Arena. Time now for the highlights
- 9:01Speaker 5: in this seetle Kraken drive to the net scoring recap
- 9:04Speaker 5: has brought to you. But the all new Chevvy Tracks
- 9:06Speaker 5: now bigger and Boulder tracks is the perfect assist for
- 9:10Speaker 5: all of life's adventures well for much of this season.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Early on, a big question could the Kraken find a
- 9:17Speaker 5: way to jump start their game early to get out
- 9:20Speaker 5: of the first period here with the lead. Well, they
- 9:22Speaker 5: made a big push in that direction a little past
- 9:25Speaker 5: the sixteen minute mark, courtesy of a line that was
- 9:30Speaker 5: giving Columbus a business nearly all night long.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Eight seven shots Cracket lead there. Ben Myers gets lost
- 9:37Speaker 3: for winter ten.
- 9:37Speaker 11: Stop Winter is coming. Ryan winter Ten gets it started
- 9:50Speaker 11: here in Seattle Free.
- 9:52Speaker 12: Seventeen to play in the first one nothing cracking.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Well, I just talked about how much I like this
- 9:57Speaker 4: fourth line combination. Right now the act. You get a
- 10:00Speaker 4: big safe by Matt Murray, the other end goes to
- 10:03Speaker 4: Fords line. They go to work. Ben Myers picking that
- 10:05Speaker 4: fuck up top of the circles. He's got a lad
- 10:07Speaker 4: in the netlik you did earlier. He sells the shot
- 10:10Speaker 4: and at the last second backhand over to Winderton. One
- 10:13Speaker 4: timer pass Graves one nufing cracking.
- 10:16Speaker 5: That would be an omen Ben Myers, Ty Cartier and
- 10:20Speaker 5: Ryan Winterton putting continuous pressure on Columbus nearly all night long,
- 10:24Speaker 5: and that goal got the Cracking out to a one
- 10:26Speaker 5: nothing lead at sixteen forty three a period one. Winterton's
- 10:30Speaker 5: now scored, by the way and back to back home games.
- 10:32Speaker 5: That's his second of the season, Ben Myers, Jamie Alexiak
- 10:36Speaker 5: with the assists. And to give you the indication as
- 10:39Speaker 5: far as how much this line shut up this evening
- 10:42Speaker 5: for them on the ice tonight at five on five,
- 10:44Speaker 5: they had in hand thirteen shot attempts for their side
- 10:48Speaker 5: at five on five just five against and in shot
- 10:51Speaker 5: quality five on five. Get a load of this as
- 10:54Speaker 5: far as this big number, ninety four percent of the
- 10:57Speaker 5: share they controlled those metrics courtesy stat Trick. Whenever they
- 11:01Speaker 5: showed up, they made something happen, and Ryan Winterton got
- 11:04Speaker 5: the Cracking out to a one nothing lead in the
- 11:07Speaker 5: first period. The Kraken exit team period one by that
- 11:11Speaker 5: same score, on top of Columbus. A few chances early
- 11:15Speaker 5: in period two to expand the lead, though went by
- 11:17Speaker 5: the wayside, and Columbus with their chance after successive penalties
- 11:21Speaker 5: to Ellie Tolnan for tripping at sixteen forty six and
- 11:25Speaker 5: then Ryan lind Grin for cross checking at seventeen forty
- 11:28Speaker 5: a period two on a play at the net with
- 11:31Speaker 5: the Blue Jackets going to a five on three power play,
- 11:36Speaker 5: and that would give Adam Fantilly a one to one
- 11:39Speaker 5: tie for his fourth goal of the season. Coming at
- 11:41Speaker 5: eighteen twenty two Carill Marchenko and Sean Monahan with the
- 11:45Speaker 5: assists so close for Matt Murray, who nearly made a
- 11:48Speaker 5: big save with a crack and penalty kill scrambling, but
- 11:51Speaker 5: Fan Tilly put it right off the glove of Murray
- 11:53Speaker 5: in a game of inches, and that tied things up
- 11:56Speaker 5: at one, a brand new game effectively heading into period three.
- 12:00Speaker 5: The crack announce shot by Columbus also eleven to five
- 12:03Speaker 5: in that third period, and trying their hand in overtime,
- 12:07Speaker 5: but nothing coming. Probably the best look of ot Jordan
- 12:10Speaker 5: Everley between the circles. Jet Greaves made the save, the
- 12:14Speaker 5: only shot the crack and hat on net and turn
- 12:16Speaker 5: the link gave up one as well to Columbus. Little
- 12:19Speaker 5: foreshadowing will have that coming your way in a bit.
- 12:22Speaker 5: But right down to the shootouts into the final round,
- 12:25Speaker 5: it was up to Charlie Coyle right hand at Charlie
- 12:28Speaker 5: Coyle waits for the signal, Coil picks up the puck.
- 12:34Speaker 3: He'll bring it near side, Coil into the circle back
- 12:37Speaker 3: to the Hashbugs.
- 12:38Speaker 12: Row slots shot off the bar, He scores and the
- 12:42Speaker 12: Columbus Blue Jackets take the extra point in the shootout
- 12:47Speaker 12: final to one.
- 12:49Speaker 5: It was indeed a battle of goaltending here for this evening,
- 12:52Speaker 5: asked Charlie Coyle, giving the Blue Jackets an emotional lift
- 12:56Speaker 5: all things considered, finale of the road trip back to back,
- 13:00Speaker 5: A lot of illness going through their dressing room, but
- 13:02Speaker 5: they found a way and the crack and having to
- 13:04Speaker 5: settle for a point unfortunately, but despite the great effort
- 13:06Speaker 5: that Matt Murray had a net here for this evening.
- 13:09Speaker 5: Two one your final in a shootout Columbus over the
- 13:12Speaker 5: Kraken on a night here with a crack, and also
- 13:14Speaker 5: you think what could they have done with Jared McCann
- 13:17Speaker 5: still out, Freddie Gudreau still out as well, and you're
- 13:20Speaker 5: talking about potentially a combination of around forty forty five
- 13:24Speaker 5: to fifty goals there between the two. The Kraken certainly
- 13:27Speaker 5: unfortunately feeling those effects here for this evening as they
- 13:31Speaker 5: take one point out of this one to open this
- 13:33Speaker 5: homestand the final shots on net thirty four to twenty
- 13:36Speaker 5: three in favor of Columbus Special teams, a big difference
- 13:40Speaker 5: here in this one. The Blue Jackets go one to
- 13:42Speaker 5: four on the power play, the Kracking go zero of
- 13:45Speaker 5: two and the win and net to Jet Greaves. Playing
- 13:48Speaker 5: in his second game in his many nights, he had
- 13:50Speaker 5: a twenty two save effort. Matt Murray, who deserved plenty
- 13:54Speaker 5: of applause here for his effort. This evening he turned
- 13:57Speaker 5: into a thirty three save effort, good enough for second
- 14:01Speaker 5: Star honors Winner ten Your third star, Murray, your second star,
- 14:04Speaker 5: Charlie Coyle, You're first star this evening. The Kracking falling
- 14:08Speaker 5: to zero and two. By the way, in shootouts for
- 14:10Speaker 5: this year, Columbus is now two and zero. That's again
- 14:14Speaker 5: your final Blue Jackets two and the crack at one time.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Now for the cors Light chill Us moments up the game,
- 14:20Speaker 5: Cracking fans, you can win your chance to sit in

- 14:45Speaker 3: The power Warren Ski right side, Mattillian from bumped on goal,

- 14:58Speaker 3: Matt Murray two more inches from a highlight reel SportsCenter
- 15:05Speaker 3: save it goes off the end of his glove and
- 15:10Speaker 3: the Jackets on the power play tie.
- 15:14Speaker 5: The game had a goal apiece, and too bad for
- 15:17Speaker 5: Matt Murray because a couple of goals that he let in.
- 15:20Speaker 5: It was a matter of a game of innhows you
- 15:22Speaker 5: think back to the Tyler Sagan goal against Dallas, so
- 15:25Speaker 5: close Murray was topping it with his right toe and
- 15:28Speaker 5: then reaching out with his glove on Fan Tilly's wide
- 15:31Speaker 5: open shot. Was so close, but Columbus turning in a
- 15:34Speaker 5: power play goal and that tide matters up right before
- 15:38Speaker 5: the second period horn to change the tone of this game,
- 15:41Speaker 5: and the Cracking unfortunately couldn't cash in on their power play,
- 15:44Speaker 5: which certainly made this one a toe or of nose
- 15:48Speaker 5: to nose race all the way to the finish line.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Here as that was moment number one, then to ot
- 15:54Speaker 5: Matt Murray doing everything he can to keep the Cracking alive.
- 15:58Speaker 1: In overtime, Mark Schenko through center, He's got Fan Tilly.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Fan Tilly gets by back hand bick same.
- 16:10Speaker 1: By Matt Murray.
- 16:12Speaker 11: He goes down and stones Fan Tilly's backhead.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Biggest save of the night for Matt Murray, the only
- 16:19Speaker 5: shot he faced in overtime, brought the fans out of
- 16:22Speaker 5: their seats here at Climb the Pledge Arena and certainly
- 16:24Speaker 5: worthy of second Star honors. Matt Murray tonight in the
- 16:28Speaker 5: shootout loss, turning in a thirty three save effort that
- 16:32Speaker 5: brings us down to the big win brought to you
- 16:34Speaker 5: by the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling, and this evening
- 16:38Speaker 5: out east a milestone in reach for a long time
- 16:41Speaker 5: Boston Bruins. Forward and here's Postmak off a feet from
- 16:45Speaker 5: Geeky just outside. He scores.
- 16:49Speaker 13: Postavak going back and forth in front of Hill Toby,
- 16:53Speaker 13: and he.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Gets number four one hundred in his career, and.
- 16:56Speaker 6: The Bruins have a four to one lead, and Buddy off.
- 17:00Speaker 1: The patch right now and you graduate postback.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Geeky went Crabb puck. What a boot Play by play
- 17:09Speaker 5: call courtesy Ryan Joston ninety eight five. The sports up
- 17:13Speaker 5: is David Pastronach scoring twice this evening to move right
- 17:17Speaker 5: past the four hundred gold milestone for his career. The
- 17:20Speaker 5: Bruins beat the Maple Leaves five to three. They have
- 17:23Speaker 5: now won seven consecutive games, and Pastronach now the sixth
- 17:26Speaker 5: player to score four hundred goals or more in a
- 17:29Speaker 5: Brewins Jersey and now one goal behind fifth place Rick Middleton.
- 17:34Speaker 5: No big deal, We'll come back with more after this.

- 35:05Speaker 5: late in period two, and then these two teams battling
- 35:08Speaker 5: right down to the wire, eventually ending it in a shootout.
- 35:13Speaker 5: As we say often it is a skills competition and
- 35:16Speaker 5: oftentimes a toss up. Charlie Coyle had the final say
- 35:20Speaker 5: in this one with the shootouts winning goal, And when
- 35:23Speaker 5: you think about how Columbus is reacting potentially end a
- 35:26Speaker 5: back to back the flu bug going in them, it's
- 35:28Speaker 5: a pretty emotional win. And the cracking nown trying to
- 35:31Speaker 5: regroup ahead of Thursday now is they will take on
- 35:34Speaker 5: the Winnipeg Jets again, text us right now four nine four,
- 35:37Speaker 5: five to one. On the KJR textlim we're gonna get
- 35:40Speaker 5: to more reaction, expecting that downstairs momentarily here back at
- 35:44Speaker 5: climbing Pledgerina al Kiniski joining us right now without further ado.
- 35:49Speaker 5: And this evening, I think out when you consider twenty
- 35:53Speaker 5: three shots on that Columbus takes thirty four, they were
- 35:56Speaker 5: kind of inn empty the tank scenario here based on
- 35:59Speaker 5: many factors, but for the Kraken you look at, I think,
- 36:03Speaker 5: how impressive again to keep an opponent tied up to
- 36:06Speaker 5: just one goal, nothing in five on five, but offensively
- 36:09Speaker 5: that extra gear has just been missing recently.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean to keep this Columbus Blue Jackets team
- 36:16Speaker 4: to one goal, I think I give a lot of
- 36:18Speaker 4: that credit to Matt Murray. Came up with some big saves,
- 36:20Speaker 4: some big sequences of saves where it wasn't just the
- 36:22Speaker 4: initial one, but second and third thirds after that getting
- 36:26Speaker 4: out shot in the third period, the cracking were twelve
- 36:28Speaker 4: to six. You know, when you're when you're sitting tied
- 36:31Speaker 4: at one against the team that's playing in their second
- 36:33Speaker 4: of a back to back, you'd think the opposite would
- 36:35Speaker 4: be true. Unfortunately, the Columbus doubling up on shots on
- 36:39Speaker 4: goal in that third period. I really think what's missing
- 36:43Speaker 4: is is a sniper. You know, you saw that in
- 36:45Speaker 4: the shootout with kill Mar Marchenko on the on the
- 36:49Speaker 4: goal that he scored. He's an elite sniper. You need
- 36:52Speaker 4: that guy on your lineup that you can feed pucks two,
- 36:55Speaker 4: five on five power play cracking. We're zero for two
- 36:58Speaker 4: on the power play tonight, oh for five over the
- 37:00Speaker 4: past two games. I think that factors into it as well.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Is that sniper Jared mccannon. Maybe, but he's not in
- 37:06Speaker 4: the lineup right now.
- 37:07Speaker 5: And not only that, but also Freddie Gudreau is still missing.
- 37:10Speaker 5: And it's not just a shootout goal that we saw
- 37:12Speaker 5: back in preseason play that gives the indication of what
- 37:15Speaker 5: he can do. But he's consistently a guy who can
- 37:17Speaker 5: push twenty goals. So when you think about it, mccam
- 37:20Speaker 5: between twenty five to thirty, that's potentially forty forty five
- 37:25Speaker 5: to fifty goals combined, you're missing out of your lineup.
- 37:27Speaker 5: Not to make excuses here, but this is what the
- 37:31Speaker 5: krack and are dealing with. As far as the hand
- 37:32Speaker 5: that they have been dealt over the last few weeks.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Well, and again you're playing you're playing a team that's
- 37:37Speaker 4: playing their second of a back to back, so you
- 37:39Speaker 4: should have the upper hand. And you're you're you're playing
- 37:41Speaker 4: a team that's at the bottom of their division in
- 37:43Speaker 4: the Metropolitan Division. Again, there are no easy games in NHL.
- 37:47Speaker 4: I'm not suggesting that, but a team that's at the
- 37:49Speaker 4: bottom of their division and they're second of a back
- 37:51Speaker 4: to back, you should be able to outplay. I think
- 37:54Speaker 4: it was a missed opportunity not to get both points
- 37:56Speaker 4: here tonight.
- 37:57Speaker 5: All right, we're gonna get to Matt Murray in just
- 37:59Speaker 5: a little bit with his reaction, and we'll touch more
- 38:01Speaker 5: on this. As far as the goaltending picture, four nine
- 38:04Speaker 5: four or five to one, let's hear from you, folks,
- 38:06Speaker 5: what's your instant takeaway here from this game. Are you
- 38:09Speaker 5: encouraged by again keeping a team held to just one
- 38:13Speaker 5: goal for tonight or how concerning is that? As far
- 38:16Speaker 5: as the lack of offense that has been coming recently, again,
- 38:19Speaker 5: four nine four or five to one Texas Right now
- 38:21Speaker 5: on the KJR tech line, Matt Murray waiting right around
- 38:24Speaker 5: the corner and this evening when you put up thirty
- 38:28Speaker 5: three saves on thirty four shots. Yeah, he's still looking
- 38:32Speaker 5: for his first win right now in a crack in Jersey.
- 38:34Speaker 5: But the bigger picture of this, we don't know how
- 38:37Speaker 5: long Joey to Cord is going to be out of
- 38:39Speaker 5: the lineup. Heading into this season, that was maybe the
- 38:42Speaker 5: one guy, the one lynch pin, that you thought you
- 38:45Speaker 5: could rely on to give this team a puncher's chance
- 38:48Speaker 5: here to stay in this playoff race and hang around
- 38:51Speaker 5: and be competitive. Well he's out of the picture right
- 38:54Speaker 5: now for how long we don't know, But this was
- 38:57Speaker 5: a very very encouraging sign, not just this evening here,
- 39:00Speaker 5: the last two games also for Matt Murray.
- 39:02Speaker 4: Well, I think coach Lane Lambert's structure obviously a big
- 39:06Speaker 4: part of that structure is goaltending, and you're right about
- 39:08Speaker 4: Joey Decord playing a big role in that structure. But
- 39:12Speaker 4: the fact that that that structure still exists when Joey
- 39:14Speaker 4: Decord is out of the lineup. And then you got
- 39:16Speaker 4: Matt Murray playing a fantastic game. No surprise, it was
- 39:19Speaker 4: a very fairly low event game tonight, and that it
- 39:22Speaker 4: was one to one through three periods of hockey. And
- 39:24Speaker 4: you know, Fitz and I were talking about this off air.
- 39:27Speaker 4: It you just got to get it used to these
- 39:30Speaker 4: kind of games. Two to two games, one to one games,
- 39:32Speaker 4: three to two, late late and third periods. I don't
- 39:35Speaker 4: think you're going to see a lot of games where
- 39:37Speaker 4: it's five and six goals scored for the Krack. And
- 39:39Speaker 4: now that doesn't mean they're a bad hockey team. It
- 39:41Speaker 4: just means that their structure is a defense first mentality
- 39:45Speaker 4: taking away. How many breakaways do you see tonight? None
- 39:48Speaker 4: from either team? Right, And that's because the Kracking don't
- 39:51Speaker 4: cheat to try and get me already on man rushes also, right,
- 39:54Speaker 4: So the Kracking don't cheat to get out of their
- 39:56Speaker 4: own zone looking for a breakaway, but they also don't
- 39:59Speaker 4: give up kaway's going the other way as well, which
- 40:01Speaker 4: makes it easier on their goaltenders. So that's the kind
- 40:04Speaker 4: of structure that this team plays, which is why you
- 40:06Speaker 4: see a low event to scoring game.
- 40:07Speaker 5: Matt Murray was second star of this evening with a
- 40:10Speaker 5: thirty three save effort. If the Crack had won this game,
- 40:12Speaker 5: he would have been far, away, far and away first
- 40:15Speaker 5: star here for this evening's game downstairs, he is right
- 40:18Speaker 5: now talking with the media, and here's Matt Murray and
- 40:20Speaker 5: his reaction after the crack and fell to one of
- 40:22Speaker 5: the Blue Jackets in a shootout, like you.
- 40:24Speaker 21: Were on from the get go, no warm up and
- 40:27Speaker 21: needed tonight, no res. I had to feel compared to
- 40:29Speaker 21: some other games where you haven't had a chance to play.
- 40:33Speaker 4: For a while.
- 40:34Speaker 22: Yeah, I think, you know, I was thankful to get
- 40:37Speaker 22: in there and get the start for one, and I
- 40:41Speaker 22: feel like, you know, I've been feeling a little bit
- 40:43Speaker 22: better each and every time, and they've been out there.
- 40:47Speaker 22: That's three starts now, I think I felt I felt
- 40:48Speaker 22: better in each and every one, So trending in the
- 40:50Speaker 22: right direction. Just got to make an extra save there
- 40:53Speaker 22: tonight and goes the other way. But you know, I
- 40:56Speaker 22: thought the team played really well once again, doubted hard
- 40:58Speaker 22: and could have gone either way.
- 40:59Speaker 10: There's right.
- 41:01Speaker 21: There was a part midway through the game where Columbus
- 41:03Speaker 21: it seemed like they were a little fatigue, but then
- 41:05Speaker 21: they started coming on like strong in this in the
- 41:07Speaker 21: second half.
- 41:08Speaker 1: What were you seeing.
- 41:09Speaker 22: From the five on three there helped them a lot, obviously,
- 41:12Speaker 22: that was that was a turning point. You know, they
- 41:16Speaker 22: make a nice play through the scene there and almost
- 41:18Speaker 22: had it, got it, got a good chunk of it,
- 41:20Speaker 22: but they were able to get one there. And when
- 41:23Speaker 22: you get one on the five on three before the
- 41:25Speaker 22: first time of the expiers and then you still you're
- 41:27Speaker 22: still cooking on the on the power play for a
- 41:28Speaker 22: little bit, you know that that throws us off of
- 41:31Speaker 22: our rhythm and kind of gives them some momentum. So
- 41:33Speaker 22: I thought, that's that's what happened a little bit, and
- 41:35Speaker 22: then we took it back I thought started the third
- 41:38Speaker 22: So it was it was, you know, a bit of
- 41:40Speaker 22: back and forth in terms of momentum that game.
- 41:42Speaker 18: They had some young guys over there with quite a
- 41:43Speaker 18: bit of skill. What's kind of the challenge and trying
- 41:45Speaker 18: to keeping them them in check with Marchenko and Fantilly
- 41:48Speaker 18: and such.
- 41:49Speaker 22: Yeah, really quick skilled guys. Mark Chenko's a he's a playmaker,
- 41:53Speaker 22: and they got that. That huge guy in front of
- 41:55Speaker 22: them that too, and made it really hard on me,
- 41:58Speaker 22: especially on the power plays. I couldn't see anything out there.
- 42:01Speaker 22: I'm sorry, I don't know how to pronounce his name properly,
- 42:04Speaker 22: the Russian guy, I think, but he was. He's so
- 42:09Speaker 22: good at screening too. He's always in the right position,
- 42:11Speaker 22: and he makes you know that that makes a you know,
- 42:15Speaker 22: a lot tougher even just to see the pocket you're battling,
- 42:17Speaker 22: a lot harders to see the puck. So yeah, they
- 42:20Speaker 22: got they got a good team over there, a lot
- 42:21Speaker 22: of skill and a lot of grit.
- 42:24Speaker 4: What was it for you to to make your first
- 42:25Speaker 4: start here at home too? Yeah?
- 42:27Speaker 22: Yeah, I was thankful to get in there, and like
- 42:31Speaker 22: I said earlier, I think that was that was probably
- 42:33Speaker 22: the best I felt so far. And I think We're
- 42:35Speaker 22: treading in the right direction here, so I'm just looking
- 42:37Speaker 22: to keep that going well.
- 42:39Speaker 5: Matt Murray again proven that he's kept the cracking in
- 42:42Speaker 5: games now twice in a row, and this could be
- 42:44Speaker 5: a viable option here behind Joey the cord for how
- 42:47Speaker 5: long he's out we don't know yet here, but Murray
- 42:49Speaker 5: tonight a terrific effort, thirty three saves on thirty four
- 42:53Speaker 5: shots despite the crack and only getting one goal in
- 42:56Speaker 5: a two to one shootout last year to the Blue Jackets.
- 42:58Speaker 5: Mike Betton al Kaniski with you, I'm going to sum
- 43:01Speaker 5: up the reaction I have been getting on Twitter or
- 43:04Speaker 5: next here for the offense. Basically as it's because a
- 43:06Speaker 5: lot of it is pouring in right now with some
- 43:08Speaker 5: concerns about this offense. But we had one here from
- 43:12Speaker 5: the handle of Wiz Graham just suggests it maybe the
- 43:15Speaker 5: team's got a little to no confidence here offensively here
- 43:18Speaker 5: for tonight. And I think when you look at and
- 43:21Speaker 5: how you can approach this here with no Gadrow, no
- 43:24Speaker 5: McCann and depending upon what's out there, if you can
- 43:27Speaker 5: get down the road for a bit of a tweak
- 43:29Speaker 5: as far as a transaction, the question bears, how can
- 43:33Speaker 5: you fix this internally?
- 43:34Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 43:34Speaker 4: I mean I think it's you're looking at film after
- 43:37Speaker 4: each game if I you know, if I'm madd Eveniers,
- 43:39Speaker 4: I'm probably looking at film saying, hey, I had two
- 43:42Speaker 4: three four shot attempts tonight that got deflected. How could
- 43:45Speaker 4: I get into a situation a shooting lane where I
- 43:48Speaker 4: can get that shot off clean rather than get it deflected.
- 43:51Speaker 4: And lots of times that's the difference between getting a
- 43:53Speaker 4: good shot on goal or maybe even scoring a goal
- 43:56Speaker 4: and having a puck deflected. It's that quick release, and
- 43:59Speaker 4: you know it's difficult, it's difficult to get a shot
- 44:02Speaker 4: off that quickly, but that sometimes is the difference. I
- 44:05Speaker 4: think it's you know, looking at rebound situations where where
- 44:08Speaker 4: were there rebounds where maybe you weren't in the right
- 44:11Speaker 4: position to get that secondary opportunity. Those are some of
- 44:14Speaker 4: the things you gotta look at to say I'm gonna
- 44:16Speaker 4: I'm gonna play that differently next game.
- 44:18Speaker 5: Ben Meyers tonight, we'll talk about his line. They were
- 44:21Speaker 5: flying all night long. He led the team with four
- 44:24Speaker 5: shans on net here Jordan Everley had three. Shane right
- 44:28Speaker 5: by the way, he had three. But is there one
- 44:31Speaker 5: line or one player that you're looking at here and
- 44:33Speaker 5: thinking that you know, he's maybe thinking internally, I gotta
- 44:37Speaker 5: give more. I know I can give more. He may
- 44:39Speaker 5: be snaked it because again, I mean you're looking at
- 44:42Speaker 5: close games. But the way that this team has been,
- 44:44Speaker 5: you know, built and constructed, you know there are players
- 44:47Speaker 5: who can be pitching in that it's kind of maybe
- 44:48Speaker 5: surprising that things have kind of gone quiet.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, Shane Wright played on the wing tonight.
- 44:52Speaker 4: I can't remember the last time you played on the wing,
- 44:54Speaker 4: So you know that tends to be an easier role.
- 44:56Speaker 4: But it doesn't matter if it's easier if you're not
- 44:58Speaker 4: comfortable or used to playing in that position. It's it's
- 45:01Speaker 4: different than what you're used to. He was on that
- 45:03Speaker 4: line with Cotton in the middle and Tolvenan on the wing,
- 45:06Speaker 4: so not giving him an excuse, but you know, your
- 45:09Speaker 4: your line gets shifted a little bit there. You've got
- 45:11Speaker 4: to adjust to playing that new position defensively.
- 45:15Speaker 5: Tonight it was Berkeley Catton in the middle, Shane right
- 45:20Speaker 5: on the right wing, Ellie Toulvenen as well on the
- 45:23Speaker 5: left wing, and a tough night here for Tolvenen. No
- 45:26Speaker 5: shot on net, but it also had five shot attempts
- 45:28Speaker 5: as well, so you know what you have to do
- 45:30Speaker 5: with them and shoot the puck, shoot the puck and
- 45:32Speaker 5: shoot it some more. Something's gonna go in, or it's
- 45:35Speaker 5: gonna go take a weird bounce off of him and
- 45:37Speaker 5: find his way to the back of the net and
- 45:39Speaker 5: maybe off he goes from there. But I talked with
- 45:41Speaker 5: Shane right this morning and he said that maybe besides
- 45:45Speaker 5: one time playing right wing last year, he can't recall
- 45:49Speaker 5: the last time he ever played wing. So it is
- 45:51Speaker 5: quite the adjustment, and you know you're not responsible so
- 45:55Speaker 5: much defensively as you would be, say, playing center, but
- 45:58Speaker 5: it frees you up now for more chances here to
- 46:00Speaker 5: shoot the puck, and this evening he had three shots
- 46:02Speaker 5: on nets.
- 46:02Speaker 4: Well, And what I like about that line too, is
- 46:04Speaker 4: is that you know, when I've coached in the past,
- 46:07Speaker 4: you can't put three playmakers together on a line just
- 46:10Speaker 4: often doesn't work. You need somebody that's gonna go into
- 46:13Speaker 4: the corners and get pucks, somebody that's willing to play
- 46:15Speaker 4: the front of the net, someone that's got a one timer.
- 46:17Speaker 4: There's your Ellie Tolvenen. You need that playmaker. I think
- 46:20Speaker 4: Berkeley Catton's a playmaker. I think Shane Wright is a
- 46:22Speaker 4: combination of a playmaker and a shooter. But you've got
- 46:25Speaker 4: a good balance of those skills there on that line.
- 46:27Speaker 4: It's just they haven't played together that long. There's been
- 46:29Speaker 4: a lot of tweaking in the lines over the last
- 46:31Speaker 4: few games. So I would leave that one alone for
- 46:34Speaker 4: a couple more games and see how it immatures.
- 46:36Speaker 5: How about Brandon Montour this evening, nine shots for the night,
- 46:41Speaker 5: two shots on net. I thought he had that wind
- 46:44Speaker 5: up that that that big slab shot in period too.
- 46:46Speaker 5: They had a great chance to go in, but unfortunately
- 46:48Speaker 5: it didn't.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Monty's never seen a puck that he doesn't want to
- 46:50Speaker 4: put on net. Doesn't matter where he is on the ice,
- 46:52Speaker 4: and you know that's part of it. Obviously he has
- 46:54Speaker 4: a shooter's mentality, but he also loves jumping into the
- 46:56Speaker 4: offense as well. So if he gets to go on
- 46:58Speaker 4: a rush and could be the first guy going harder
- 47:00Speaker 4: than net, he doesn't care if he if he gets
- 47:02Speaker 4: a shot, you know, three feet away from the goal,
- 47:04Speaker 4: you're thirty feet feet away from the goal. He doesn't care.
- 47:07Speaker 4: He's putting it on net.
- 47:08Speaker 5: Brandon Montour also hit a post in that second period.
- 47:11Speaker 5: The Cracking were so close Sam's Columbus in their own
- 47:15Speaker 5: zone for what felt like an eternity, and I thought,
- 47:17Speaker 5: if you can bury one right there, that really puts
- 47:20Speaker 5: them behind the eight ball.
- 47:21Speaker 4: Yeah, And I thought that that was probably one of
- 47:23Speaker 4: the points in the game where the Kracking were buzzing
- 47:26Speaker 4: the offensive end. They were able to keep Columbus bottled
- 47:29Speaker 4: up on their end, you know, running around like Toddler's
- 47:31Speaker 4: looking for bubbles at a birthday party. You've got to
- 47:35Speaker 4: be able to get sustained offensive time in those situations
- 47:38Speaker 4: because that's what breaks down defensive defensive structures. That's what
- 47:42Speaker 4: gets people running around a little bit, and when that happens,
- 47:46Speaker 4: you tend to get more shooting lanes, more passing lanes,
- 47:48Speaker 4: and more goals.
- 47:49Speaker 5: Again to won the crack and fall to Columbus. Here
- 47:51Speaker 5: they're sitting gonna shootout and we're gonna hear from Lane
- 47:53Speaker 5: Lambert after this break coming up in just a bit.
- 47:56Speaker 5: But I want to touching the Ben the Ben Meyers
- 47:58Speaker 5: line here, and yeah, I thought you brought a great
- 48:01Speaker 5: point up. I mean, who knows how long this could
- 48:03Speaker 5: be put together. Freddie Gaudrou is getting closer and closer
- 48:06Speaker 5: to being back in. But this evening, I mean he
- 48:10Speaker 5: gave Lane Lambert time after time, chance after a chance
- 48:14Speaker 5: to put him back out there. Him Ty Cartier as
- 48:17Speaker 5: well and Ryan Winterton in the first period. They were
- 48:19Speaker 5: certainly rewarded.
- 48:20Speaker 4: Yeah, and listen, you know they were rewarded. They're playing
- 48:24Speaker 4: well as a unit. You know, again, I talk about
- 48:26Speaker 4: that perfect combination of a line. There. You got Ty
- 48:29Speaker 4: Karci who's got a great shot, he plays physical. You
- 48:31Speaker 4: talk about Ryan Winterton the same sort of thing, a
- 48:34Speaker 4: shooter and a physical player. Ben Myers likes to play fit.
- 48:37Speaker 4: So that line can play rock'm soccer hockey out there,
- 48:40Speaker 4: and they did tonight, and the penalty that Ben Myers
- 48:42Speaker 4: got by going harder the net, I want to ask
- 48:45Speaker 4: coach Lane Lambert. This maybe off air, we'll see, but
- 48:47Speaker 4: I want to ask him if he talks to Ben
- 48:49Speaker 4: Myers about that penalty and says, here's what I want
- 48:52Speaker 4: you to do differently, or here's what I don't want
- 48:54Speaker 4: to do. Do it every single time, because I think
- 48:57Speaker 4: it's a good idea to take a puck to the net.
- 49:00Speaker 4: We saw it earlier in the game when Myers came
- 49:02Speaker 4: across and got a good, good scoring opportunity. We saw
- 49:04Speaker 4: it late when he got the penalty. But I think
- 49:06Speaker 4: so many good things happen when you take the puck
- 49:08Speaker 4: to the net. He just got tossed into the goalie there,
- 49:10Speaker 4: and I you know, I'm okay with that penalty. What
- 49:12Speaker 4: I'm not okay with is, you know, the cross check
- 49:14Speaker 4: by Linker that puts his team down too.
- 49:16Speaker 23: Man.
- 49:16Speaker 5: That hurts ultimately.
- 49:19Speaker 4: I mean, he was beat but at that point and
- 49:21Speaker 4: so he was taking you know, he was pulling on
- 49:23Speaker 4: all the stops to not allow a guy to go
- 49:25Speaker 4: harder the net with the puck. But maybe you've just
- 49:27Speaker 4: got to be a little more subtle about how you
- 49:29Speaker 4: take that man down rather than a cross check right
- 49:31Speaker 4: down the back of the pan.
- 49:32Speaker 5: That's one of your key penalty killers right there. That
- 49:34Speaker 5: goes off the ice after that, and you go down
- 49:37Speaker 5: five on three, you're putting your cell behind the eight
- 49:39Speaker 5: ball based on how long they had their five on
- 49:41Speaker 5: three unit out there.
- 49:42Speaker 4: Absolutely, so you know those are probably two penalties that
- 49:47Speaker 4: one I might you know, not discourage it, and when
- 49:49Speaker 4: I might discourage.
- 49:50Speaker 5: It again the crack and fall to one in a
- 49:52Speaker 5: shootout to Columbus, and all things considered, maybe a game
- 49:56Speaker 5: where they had to get two points here for the savening,
- 49:58Speaker 5: but they start this out with a shootout point. Columbus
- 50:01Speaker 5: takes the win, and now they turn the page here
- 50:03Speaker 5: to a tough Winnipeg team coming up on Thursday and
- 50:07Speaker 5: Santos eighteen minutes young, but finding plenty of confidence in
- 50:11Speaker 5: their stride as they won again here for this evening
- 50:14Speaker 5: that ends a homestand coming up this weekend. Lane Lambert
- 50:18Speaker 5: his reaction right around the corner. We'll come back after this,
- 50:21Speaker 5: and this is talking Kraken a ninety three to three KJRFM.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Now back to ducking cracking with Mike Minton on your
- 50:32Speaker 2: home of a crack in sports Radio Matty three point
- 50:35Speaker 2: three kJ.
- 50:36Speaker 5: R FM cracking fall two one in a shootout to
- 50:40Speaker 5: Columbus's Seedning, and we're getting both sides of the coin
- 50:43Speaker 5: as far as reaction, it's understandable here via Twitter and
- 50:46Speaker 5: also the KJR text line four nine four five to
- 50:49Speaker 5: one one example here we get this here from the
- 50:53Speaker 5: handle Sea Bass say Matt Murray was a unit of
- 50:55Speaker 5: the kracking note need to be more aggressive on the
- 50:57Speaker 5: Ford check power play also was a b off your
- 51:00Speaker 5: for tonight, and Brian's saying, well, fifteen games to score
- 51:04Speaker 5: a fewer than three goals ten times? How is this good? Here?
- 51:08Speaker 5: And we'll answer that, yeah, very bluntly here from Brian.
- 51:11Speaker 4: It's good if you can only allow one or two. Yeah, right,
- 51:14Speaker 4: And I'm sorry. That is the structure of this team
- 51:18Speaker 4: is they are not going to allow many goals. You
- 51:21Speaker 4: saw it tonight, You've seen it in many other games.
- 51:24Speaker 4: They are not going to allow many goals against, which
- 51:26Speaker 4: means they don't need many goals for. But in a
- 51:29Speaker 4: game that's one one, like I said, against a team
- 51:31Speaker 4: that's at the bottom of their division, you'd like to
- 51:34Speaker 4: see maybe that the crack and get three goals in
- 51:37Speaker 4: that particular game and own this in regulation.
- 51:41Speaker 5: For the handle s belt Man two five three, say
- 51:43Speaker 5: Matt Murray deserved a lot better. Riiker Evans was a great.
- 51:46Speaker 5: Fourth line was great, just paraphrase and that. But looking
- 51:48Speaker 5: for more elsewhere, certainly here in this one, all right,
- 51:51Speaker 5: cracking again fall two to one to Columbus and the
- 51:53Speaker 5: shootout back downstairs we go for a more reaction and
- 51:56Speaker 5: here's crackinghead coach Lane Lambert.
- 51:59Speaker 21: I'm wondering those if this is a kind of game
- 52:01Speaker 21: where you would have liked to see the team be
- 52:02Speaker 21: a little more aggressive early on. Give it given the
- 52:05Speaker 21: situation Columbus was in to try to you know, pounce
- 52:09Speaker 21: on them, try to open things up a little before
- 52:12Speaker 21: the game got to that double penalty situation.
- 52:16Speaker 24: So well, I thought we I thought we generated you know,
- 52:20Speaker 24: I thought we generated chances early on. You know, we
- 52:23Speaker 24: have to find a way and you know the question
- 52:25Speaker 24: is going to be, oh, you know you're not scoring. Well,
- 52:28Speaker 24: we've got to find a way to score, like when
- 52:30Speaker 24: we have opportunities, and we had opportunities, we've got to
- 52:33Speaker 24: bury them. And that's just that's just the bottom line,
- 52:36Speaker 24: you know. And we played solid defensively, you know, and
- 52:40Speaker 24: to your point, the score is one nothing late in
- 52:42Speaker 24: the late end of the second period, we've got to
- 52:45Speaker 24: find a way to make it too.
- 52:46Speaker 21: How much has that changed the game? The complexity of
- 52:49Speaker 21: the game if you get to that second intermission with
- 52:52Speaker 21: the lead as opposed to you know, how they got
- 52:54Speaker 21: back in it?
- 52:55Speaker 24: Well, I mean, statistically speaking, you take a look at
- 52:58Speaker 24: teams leading after two periods and once they're records, so
- 53:01Speaker 24: definitely you know it it was it was necessary to
- 53:06Speaker 24: get there. But you know, at the same time, we
- 53:10Speaker 24: shot ourselves in the foot a little bit here. You know,
- 53:12Speaker 24: we take a couple of penalties. Whether you agree with
- 53:14Speaker 24: the penalties or disagree with the penalties, one of them
- 53:16Speaker 24: was two hundred feet away from our net, and we
- 53:19Speaker 24: can't do that.
- 53:24Speaker 18: I mean, what did you just make a Matt's performance tonight?
- 53:26Speaker 18: It looked like he was really really in control, strong
- 53:29Speaker 18: and strong in net for you.
- 53:31Speaker 24: Yeah, he's really good, just a big body who plays
- 53:35Speaker 24: his angles very well. And I thought he I thought
- 53:38Speaker 24: he played an outstanding game tonight.
- 53:40Speaker 18: What is it about his play that when he when
- 53:42Speaker 18: he's going good kind of you know, kind of lets
- 53:45Speaker 18: him be the player he can be in well calm.
- 53:48Speaker 24: He's very calm, you know, very common in the net
- 53:51Speaker 24: and structured from that standpoint, and you know, I mean
- 53:55Speaker 24: for him, he uses his size to his advantage, you know.
- 54:00Speaker 24: And he certainly made some big saves for us tonight.
- 54:03Speaker 18: And it seemed like the fourth line may have been
- 54:06Speaker 18: your best line tonight with the way that they were
- 54:07Speaker 18: They're playing creating some chances out there. What did you
- 54:09Speaker 18: like about that that trio overall and kind of what
- 54:12Speaker 18: they were able to do for you in this one.
- 54:13Speaker 24: I thought they played with speed. I thought Ben Myers
- 54:16Speaker 24: was very good tonight, you know, right from the get go.
- 54:19Speaker 24: And I thought those guys they got it in. They
- 54:21Speaker 24: got it in deep before checked. They didn't turn away
- 54:23Speaker 24: from people, and I thought they they had a great.
- 54:27Speaker 4: Game, all right.
- 54:33Speaker 5: That reaction from crackingead coach Lane Lamberta is a crack
- 54:36Speaker 5: at again Vall two one in a shootout to the
- 54:38Speaker 5: Columbus Blue Jackets here and one more time that we'll
- 54:41Speaker 5: kind of touch on this and then give you a
- 54:43Speaker 5: quick preview of Winnipeg coming up and then get out.
- 54:47Speaker 5: So I mean, I look at this where I mean,
- 54:49Speaker 5: al you and I talked about this with ever Rebeck
- 54:51Speaker 5: on Cracking Weekly. Your hope is four points out of
- 54:54Speaker 5: a possible six. Now, based on where Columbus was, they
- 54:57Speaker 5: might be flattering a bit, and it just kind of
- 54:59Speaker 5: feel like this is a game that you really had
- 55:01Speaker 5: to win, and maybe one point of slips off the
- 55:04Speaker 5: table here. So I mean, we'll touch on Winnipeg in
- 55:07Speaker 5: a bit, because they're they're they're playing some pretty good
- 55:09Speaker 5: and tough hockey. San Josea is looking a lot tougher now, certainly,
- 55:12Speaker 5: But this goes again right back to the offense and
- 55:17Speaker 5: the difference of what separates teams like say Florida when
- 55:20Speaker 5: they have could shuck Toronto and they have Matthews McKinnon
- 55:23Speaker 5: and Colorado McDavid as well, and Edmonton, those top line
- 55:26Speaker 5: guys take you to the next level and can be
- 55:28Speaker 5: a big difference here in tight games. The crack and
- 55:31Speaker 5: are still trying to get there, trying to develop their
- 55:33Speaker 5: own guys as well. So for the time being, it
- 55:36Speaker 5: goes right back here to the question how do you
- 55:38Speaker 5: find ways to generate even with McCann and could row.
- 55:41Speaker 4: Out, Well, you've got to find ways to generate in
- 55:44Speaker 4: ways that I've discussed many times, which is doing what
- 55:46Speaker 4: they're doing, putting pucks to the net, going harder than net,
- 55:49Speaker 4: Ben Myers, taking the puck to the net. Eventually, something's
- 55:53Speaker 4: got to go if you continue to do that, if
- 55:55Speaker 4: you get thirty plus shots on goal, but more importantly,
- 55:59Speaker 4: taking away goal scoring opportunities just as poor as important
- 56:03Speaker 4: as getting goals at the end or end of the ice.
- 56:05Speaker 4: And I think that structure is going to continue to
- 56:07Speaker 4: be a key part to how this team gets into
- 56:10Speaker 4: overtime against tough teams, gets wins in regulation or wins
- 56:14Speaker 4: in overtime. And you know, talking about Winnipeg. Back on
- 56:18Speaker 4: the twenty third of October, in Winnipeg, the team won
- 56:20Speaker 4: three to one Cup. There was some empty net goals
- 56:22Speaker 4: in there, yeah, but they carried a one nothing lead
- 56:26Speaker 4: for a large part of that game, taking away everything
- 56:28Speaker 4: from Winnipeg. They were frustrating them with how little they
- 56:32Speaker 4: could get going. So that's just going to be a
- 56:34Speaker 4: big part of every game.
- 56:35Speaker 5: This is the way it's got to be right now.
- 56:36Speaker 5: This is how you have to play to your identity
- 56:38Speaker 5: with what you have at this point. And I think
- 56:40Speaker 5: it goes back again to I mean, your goaltending has
- 56:43Speaker 5: got to be there, and they've been there. But also
- 56:45Speaker 5: Lane Lambert raised a great point. You have little margin
- 56:48Speaker 5: for error when it comes to taking penalties two hundred
- 56:51Speaker 5: feet away from your own net.
- 56:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you absolutely do. I mean, like I said, Ryan
- 56:54Speaker 4: Lingrean makes a decision there to take away a goal
- 56:57Speaker 4: scoring opportunity. He was beat on the play. Like I said,
- 57:00Speaker 4: it's easy for us to second guess that, but it
- 57:02Speaker 4: was hard putting his team down two men in that situation.
- 57:06Speaker 4: But Jared mccannon and Freddy Goodrow could enjoyed the courd
- 57:09Speaker 4: for that matter, could all come back to me, you know, Thursday,
- 57:11Speaker 4: which they're not, but they could all come back. The
- 57:14Speaker 4: structure of how this team plays isn't going to change
- 57:16Speaker 4: when that happens. So yeah, you're gonna get some more
- 57:19Speaker 4: firepower and a guy from Jared mccannon when that happens,
- 57:21Speaker 4: and as well as Freddy Goodrow, but the structure is
- 57:23Speaker 4: not going to change. You just might win more games
- 57:25Speaker 4: in regulation.
- 57:26Speaker 5: So here's a challenge coming up with a crack and
- 57:28Speaker 5: face of Winnipeg Jets who would just beat Vancouver earlier
- 57:31Speaker 5: this evening, and well are they regressing, and we'll wait
- 57:35Speaker 5: and see, but ten and four suggests they're off to
- 57:37Speaker 5: a pretty good start so far this season. They've been
- 57:39Speaker 5: pretty doubt in defensively, penalty kill has been top five
- 57:43Speaker 5: and plus. Adding here to Mark Schifflee, Kyle Connor, Jonathan
- 57:47Speaker 5: Taves is turning back the clock right now for what
- 57:50Speaker 5: he's doing.
- 57:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you're throwing hellibuck as well as a
- 57:53Speaker 4: top goaltender, and this is a team that does not
- 57:56Speaker 4: give up many goals against. So you've got to play
- 57:58Speaker 4: the same way, just without that top talent that Winnipeg has,
- 58:02Speaker 4: and you've got to do that started in your own
- 58:04Speaker 4: end of the ice. So I expect to see a
- 58:06Speaker 4: game Thursday very similar to the one we saw in Winnipeg.
- 58:08Speaker 5: Winnipeg has been a handful of cracking three six and
- 58:11Speaker 5: four all time against the Jets, but they have a
- 58:14Speaker 5: chance here to get back to bank wins against Winnipeg
- 58:17Speaker 5: for the first time in franchise history. Of course, they
- 58:19Speaker 5: beat Winnipeg three nothing back on October twenty fifth. Oh,
- 58:23Speaker 5: by the way, after that game, we're back also with
- 58:25Speaker 5: Tom's watch bar, I'm pumped, you're pumped as well.
- 58:27Speaker 23: Absolutely, I'm missing food on the table in front of us, Mike,
- 58:30Speaker 23: ten days and tons for you to let's go. I
- 58:32Speaker 23: can't wait for that. Also, the Hummus spread fantastic. I
- 58:35Speaker 23: don't know if I want that or the steak nachos
- 58:38Speaker 23: which has been phenomenal as well, but I hope you
- 58:40Speaker 23: can join us out there once again. Read Tom's watch
- 58:43Speaker 23: bar after the game for the Kraken and the Jets
- 58:45Speaker 23: that comes your way Thursday at seven pm Pacific time,
- 58:49Speaker 23: Airtimes six thirty and that we'll do it for here
- 58:52Speaker 23: thanks to Travis Moger, our technical director, Terry Ryan, our
- 58:55Speaker 23: on site engineer, and for al Kiniski. This is Mike
- 58:58Speaker 23: Benton saying good night from Clime the Plagarina. Thank you
- 59:01Speaker 23: for your reaction as usual, thank you for joining us.
- 59:04Speaker 23: Your final score once again in a shootout the Blue
- 59:07Speaker 23: Jackets two and the Kraken one and the Kraken record
- 59:11Speaker 23: now seven four and five, nineteen points on the year
- 59:14Speaker 23: of the Blue Jackets eight seven and one with seventeen points.
- 59:18Speaker 5: Tat to youa Thursday. This is Talking Kraken a ninety
- 59:21Speaker 5: three to three KJRFM
