Transcript
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here live from Joliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to be talking about grain stocks, pasture conditions, and possibly the future of AI.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that and more here in a bit.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: In the front month, they were down just a tick, down 23 cents at 217.23.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle were up, though they were up$1.75 at$3.33.65.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Lean hogs were up as well across the board.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: They're up$1.13 at$79.38.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: As I quote the grain markets here live, like to shout out our sponsor, plus$500.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: We use plus$500 T4 trading software to quote the markets every single day.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And as I look here live, the September, the December corn contract is at$524, up just a little bit overnight.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: November soybeans are at 1304.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: And Chicago, December, we made a nice little run here.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: They're at 698 even.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: On the weather discussion, maybe just a little bit different of a picture than what we normally have up there, but we're going to see some rains here.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And flash flooding is hitting the Texas panhandle already with five to six plus inches estimated for the west and southwest of Amarillo.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: And the city itself already got seven inches in September, which, if you've ever ever been to Amarillo, uh, you know that's quite a bit of rain for them.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: It's roughly four times its normal monthly total.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Another round of two plus inch rains threaten northwest Kansas, south southeastern Nebraska, northern Missouri, and southern Iowa, as you can kind of see in that pattern there, and some of northern Illinois where we're at.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And you know, it'll spring about two inches before you know this hopefully breaks and allows us to get back to harvesting.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: On the hard red wheat belt discussion, I figured I'd bring this up today because the grain stocks and small grains report comes out at 11 a.m.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Central this morning, and that's the export commitment and year over year change on hard red wheat.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: As you can see, 2026-2027 is kind of sitting below the norm down there just a little bit, despite all the international troubles that we've had.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Not to mention, yeah, you compare it to the 25-26 line, that's the red one.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: That's pretty huge up there.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: We'll see how this, you know, continues to play out into the future, but that report should provide some insight when it comes out.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And like I said, it comes out at 11 a.m.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Central.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna leave you with just a little bit of a cliffhanger today on the livestock discussion.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: I'm going to talk to Mr.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Mike Sands later today for our Fat Tuesday report, but we're doing it on Wednesday this week.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And this is the cattle areas in drought.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: And I think this is interesting.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Obviously, this chart is a little bit backdated.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: It's September 22nd.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: But I think we're going to see just a little bit of a change here.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Uh like kind of I kind of pre alluded on the weather discussion.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Cattle country's gonna be getting some rain.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And, you know, some are saying it's just a little bit too late.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Others are just dang grateful that it's coming at all.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: You know, hopefully before kind of these grasses go dormant, they can see a little bit of bounce before winter sets in.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: This was the breaking news headline that caught my eye this morning, and uh, you know, it's something that's on everyone's minds here recently.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Trump's meeting with tech leaders leaves AI safety more unsettled than ever.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: This is kind of crazy.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Following Trump's White House lunch with AI leaders, the industry is in the same place as it was before essentially this AI safety meeting.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: A document signed by the top industry execs calls for self-regulation with the assistance of outside evaluators.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: It's not saying a whole lot there.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And this is a quote You saw two weeks ago almost all those same CEOs say that they should be regulated, said Bradley Tusk, the CEO of Tusk Ventures, in an interview.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: You know, we're still in the wild, wild west of AI, but safe to say it's here to stay.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: And how it evolves into our society and day-to-day life is kind of still yet to be determined, but obviously we still want to be safe and we want to see some sort of regulations regarding it.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: And as we work towards those regulations, it'll be interesting to see what sets into place because, like we said, it's the wild, wild west right now.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: There's so many loose variables and so many things we still don't know about this new technology.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: On the economic calendar for today, there is a pile of them, and I'll try to rattle them off here.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: The NBA mortgage applications comes out at 6 a.m.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: The ADP weekly employment change at 7.15.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: 15 minutes after that, the retail inventories, personal income spending, PCE price index, GDP all come out at 7.30 a.m.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Central.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: EIA energy stocks come out come out at 9.30.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And like I said earlier in the show, the grain stocks and small grain reports come out at 11 a.m.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Wow, that was a mouthful.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Thank you for watching and thank you for listening this morning.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Uh it's always a pleasure to wake up in the morning, put together this show for you all.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I love hearing some of the positive feedback that we get back every now and then.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to go on and look at all the other things we offer here at Ag Bull.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: On the premium side, Tommy is offering out Bluetooth speakers right now.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: If you sign up for the full year, that's$25 a month or$250 annually.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: That's cheaper than pretty much any streaming service out there right now.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: And it's all ag based and it's tailored to you.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: We don't have any major sponsors here.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: You guys are the sponsors.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: You're the ones that say what content we put out based off of what people want, what rural agricultural needs.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Make sure you catch the show live streaming every single morning, 8.15 a.m.
