Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Here is the bloke who's broadcasting from a shed this
- 0:02Speaker 1: week in Jason Pine. Welcome to the show.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hello Andrew, good morning mate.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Has it got insulation? Is it a warm shed?
- 0:09Speaker 2: It's a very warm shed. It's a very hospitable shed.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Excuse me, Shed twenty two and downtown Wellington a great
- 0:17Speaker 2: place to broadcast a radio show from.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And of course a home test for you. So you've
- 0:21Speaker 1: got your own bed to sleep and so you should
- 0:22Speaker 1: be in great form. Now, well let's look at the match.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Captain Scott Barrett out for the rest of the series
- 0:28Speaker 1: due to a calf injury. So how does this side
- 0:31Speaker 1: perform without Barrett and how much will he regret not
- 0:33Speaker 1: having these games?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I think they'll be okay without him. I
- 0:38Speaker 2: mean it's always been a bit of a next man
- 0:41Speaker 2: up scenario for excuse me, for the All Blacks and
- 0:45Speaker 2: look Patrick two for lost who comes into the second row.
- 0:48Speaker 2: He's a pretty good replacement. Really fifty test matches, he's
- 0:51Speaker 2: a experienced campaigner captain of the Blues. So look, I'm
- 0:55Speaker 2: not sure they'd lose a lot there, but when you
- 0:58Speaker 2: lose your skipper, that is a know, that's a little hurdle.
- 1:01Speaker 2: To get over. I just wonder how injured Scott Barrett
- 1:05Speaker 2: might actually be. I think that there's a concern that
- 1:09Speaker 2: this isn't going to be a short term thing for
- 1:11Speaker 2: Scott Barrett. He's going to miss this game and next weekend,
- 1:15Speaker 2: but there's just a little bit of doubt out there
- 1:17Speaker 2: about whether he might actually be out for significantly longer
- 1:21Speaker 2: than that. It's just a feeling you get from the
- 1:23Speaker 2: All Blacks when they talk about him and say they're
- 1:26Speaker 2: a little bit coy about exactly how bad the injury is.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So look, he's out for this one. Let's hope that
- 1:32Speaker 2: he's going to be okay for the Rugby Championship.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And let's be frank, the focus of our season is
- 1:37Speaker 1: the spring Boks two games there and we want him
- 1:39Speaker 1: back for that. Caleb Clark gets a second chance. Now,
- 1:42Speaker 1: what does he have to do.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I think he has to be good in the air.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I think there's one thing that they weren't last week
- 1:47Speaker 2: in Dunedin. The All Blacks they just found it very
- 1:50Speaker 2: difficult to diffuse France's aerial game. So I think that's
- 1:55Speaker 2: one thing that they'll definitely have to do tomorrow. And
- 1:58Speaker 2: Caleb Clark's a big part of that. He's probably the
- 2:00Speaker 2: All Blacks beast winger in terms of diffusing the high bomb.
- 2:04Speaker 2: He'd want to get a try as well, Andrew. He
- 2:06Speaker 2: didn't get a single try in Super Rugby Caleb Clark,
- 2:09Speaker 2: which is so unusual for a winger. But yeah, look
- 2:13Speaker 2: he gets his opportunity. He is a good player and
- 2:16Speaker 2: let's hope that he can show that at Sky Stadium
- 2:18Speaker 2: tomorrow night.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So will when the wingers don't get tries, I blame
- 2:21Speaker 1: the midfield, to be honest with you.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And it's a great point. It's a great point. And look,
- 2:26Speaker 2: we know who plays at center for the Blues and
- 2:28Speaker 2: that's Rico Youanni, He'll be out on the other wing
- 2:31Speaker 2: tomorrow night. So it's Billy Proctor who has the task
- 2:37Speaker 2: at center with Jordi Barrett inside him to provide those
- 2:39Speaker 2: opportunities for the wingers. It's a great point. So yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 2: let's hope they can provide the ammunition for the likes
- 2:44Speaker 2: of Clark and Yuani and will Jordan a fall back
- 2:47Speaker 2: to score some tries.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Actually, Rico has got a lot to prove as well.
- 2:50Speaker 1: If Billy's going to take over his role, which is
- 2:52Speaker 1: starting to look likely, he's got to make the wing
- 2:55Speaker 1: his home again.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah, isn't it funny that he's gone across the right
- 2:58Speaker 2: wing as well? Of all sort of rika yoani if
- 3:01Speaker 2: he is a winger as a left winger with eleven
- 3:04Speaker 2: on his back. But look, I can't remember the last
- 3:06Speaker 2: time he played on the right wing. Our Rugby editor
- 3:09Speaker 2: Elliott Smith told me yesterday. He reckons it's twenty nineteen,
- 3:12Speaker 2: which is an awfully long time ago. Look, I don't
- 3:15Speaker 2: know that there's a huge difference between playing on the
- 3:17Speaker 2: left wing and on the right wing. But you're right,
- 3:20Speaker 2: he's got to find a place. If Billy Propp is
- 3:22Speaker 2: going to be the center, then Reco has to play
- 3:24Speaker 2: well on the wing just to make sure he's still
- 3:26Speaker 2: in the mix.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Jason, enjoy your weekend working out of his shed, and
- 3:30Speaker 1: I look forward to your sideline comments and of course
- 3:32Speaker 1: Elliot Smith will be doing the call and it's right
