- 0:08If we've learned anything from these past couple of years, my fellow Americans is that personal medical freedom and liberty are in crisis.
- 0:19America Pulse brings together the top experts in healthcare related fields to keep you up being ahead.
- 0:29Welcome to the Monday edition of America Out Loud Pulse.
- 0:32I'm your host, Dr.
- 0:34Mariah Hinshee.
- 0:35Today's episode is called The Great Detox Reset.
- 0:39And we're talking about how environmental toxins drive inflammation and dysfunction and what you can do about it.
- 0:47So let's start with a simple question.
- 0:49If you're doing all the right things, you're eating better, you're taking supplements, you're moving your body, you're going to the doctor when you're supposed to, and you're trying to get your health back.
- 1:02Why do you still feel so bad?
- 1:05Why are so many people still inflamed, still exhausted, still in pain, still anxious, and still sick?
- 1:15Why are autoimmune diseases rising?
- 1:19Why are neurological and mood disorders exploding?
- 1:23And why are our children developing chronic illness earlier than ever before, or much less at all?
- 1:33The answer is not a mystery.
- 1:35It's chemical.
- 1:37Today Americans are living in the most chemically saturated environment in human history.
- 1:45This is not opinion.
- 1:47This is not ideology.
- 1:50This is documented by U.S.
- 1:52biomonitoring data.
- 1:53According to the CDC, over 99% of Americans have measurable levels of multiple industrial chemicals in their blood or urine.
- 2:04Many of these chemicals did not exist a hundred years ago.
- 2:08And here's why you should care.
- 2:10Environmental toxins are not passive.
- 2:13They don't just sit quietly in the background.
- 2:16They activate inflammation, they damage our mitochondria, they disrupt hormones, they suppress immune function, they impair detoxification pathways, and they alter our brain's chemistry and signaling.
- 2:33They literally make us sick.
- 2:36Now, according to the NIH, the EPA, and several peer reviewed environmental health studies.
- 2:44These mechanisms are directly linked to chronic pain, fatigue syndromes, autoimmune disease, neurodevelopmental disorders in children, metabolic dysfunction, and impaired immune resilience.
- 3:01And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
- 3:04Now, does that sound scary?
- 3:07Yes.
- 3:08But does that mean that you are powerless?
- 3:12Absolutely not.
- 3:14Because this episode is not about fear, it's about freedom.
- 3:20The freedom that comes from understanding what's going on in your environment and knowing exactly what you can do to change the inputs coming into your body.
- 3:32So let me walk you through where the biggest exposure categories are coming from.
- 3:39So we can talk about how to prevent them entering your body.
- 3:44So let's start with heavy metals.
- 3:46Lead, aluminum, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, they're all still major public health concerns.
- 3:55The CDC data confirms that millions of Americans, including children, have levels associated with adverse health effects.
- 4:04So where do these metals come from?
- 4:06They can be found in old lead plumbing, pipes and paint in your house or school or place of employment.
- 4:15They can be found in contaminated groundwater.
- 4:18They can be from coal-fired power plants, which release them into the air, other sources of industrial pollution, you can have occupational exposure, and unfortunately, in certain types of seafood.
- 4:38We have some heavy metals as vaccine ingredients, rice that is grown in arsenic rich soil, and then we have older homes and renovation dust.
- 4:50Now, physiologically, heavy metals inhibit mitochondrial enzymes from working properly, they increase oxidative stress, they displace essential minerals like zinc and magnesium, they disrupt neurotransmitter signaling, they suppress immune cell activity.
- 5:08All of these reasons are why heavy metal exposure is associated in the literature with fatigue, brain fog, neuropathy, immune dysfunction, and chronic pain.
- 5:21Now, let's move on and talk about phthalates and parabens.
- 5:26These chemicals are endocrine disrupting.
- 5:30That means that it alters the formation of hormones in the body or the ability of these hormones to work.
- 5:40CDC biomonitoring shows that nearly all Americans have detectable phthalate metabolites in their blood or urine.
- 5:49Now these things are found in our self-care products.
- 5:53So these are things that we voluntarily put on our bodies, like deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, lotions, makeup, fragrances like perfume and cologne.
- 6:08Again, things that we voluntarily put into or onto our bodies.
- 6:14Phthalates and parabens are also found in plastic food packaging, utensils, cookware.
- 6:22Remember, these chemicals interfere with hormone signaling.
- 6:27They disrupt thyroid function, they alter estrogen and androgen balance, and they affect insulin sensitivity, so they can lead to obesity and diabetes.
- 6:40Now there are many peer-reviewed studies that associate phthalates with infertility, metabolic disease, immune dysregulation, and neurodevelopmental changes.
- 6:50This is not subtle.
- 6:52This is measurable hormone disruption, causing major issues in our bodies.
- 7:02So moving on, let's talk about organophosphates and glyphosate.
- 7:08These are agricultural chemicals.
- 7:11So these are chemicals that are used in farming.
- 7:15And unfortunately, glyphosate is now detected in our food, our drinking water, our rain water, and in most humans' urine.
- 7:27The NIH and the CDC data confirm widespread exposure.
- 7:33These organophosphates are neurotoxic by design.
- 7:38They inhibit something called acetyl cholinesterase, which interferes with nerve signaling.
- 7:46Glyphosate also disrupts the gut microbiome.
- 7:50It impairs mitochondrial function, which is the powerhouse of the cell that regulates all other cellular activity and therefore activity in our entire body.
- 8:01And glyphosate also increases intestinal permeability, leading to leaky gut, food sensitivities and intolerance, decreased immune function, more inflammation, and ultimately more toxin absorption from the gut into our systemic circulation.
- 8:24Environmental medicine literature links these exposures to several neurological symptoms, autoimmune disease, and chronic inflammatory illness.
- 8:35Now, let's talk about the PFAS or forever chemicals.
- 8:42This category deserves special attention.
- 8:45These PIFAs are found in nonstick cookware, food wrappers, stain-resistant fabrics, athletic wear and performance gear, fire fighting foam, and contaminated water supplies that we drink and bathe in.
- 9:04The CDC confirms that over 97% of Americans have these forever chemicals in their blood.
- 9:11And they're called forever chemicals because they don't break down.
- 9:17Physiologically, PFAs or forever chemicals disrupt lipid metabolism, suppress the immune response, alter thyroid signaling, increase inflammatory pathways, and studies associate these PFAs with immune suppression, poor vaccine response, thyroid disease, fertility issues, and certain cancers.
- 9:45And these chemicals accumulate over time because the body cannot break them down and get rid of them.
- 9:52And now here's something that stops most people in their tracks umbilical cord blood.
- 9:58Did you know that?
- 10:00Multiple studies show that newborn babies are born with over 200 industrial chemicals already present in their bodies.
- 10:10These chemicals cross the placenta during pregnancy and actually accumulate in these babies.
- 10:18So folks, this means detoxification is no longer just an adult issue.
- 10:24It's generational and prevention matters most.
- 10:31So let's connect all of this to symptomology in the body.
- 10:36We have environmental toxins increasing inflammation by activating certain cytokines, which are chemical messengers of inflammation.
- 10:47They also cause oxidative stress and free radical damage.
- 10:53They damage mitochondria and lower cellular energy production.
- 10:58They impair immunoregulation and lead to immune suppression and autoimmunity, often at the same time.
- 11:08They disrupt hormones affecting mood, metabolism, growth, and fertility.
- 11:14And this explains why so many feet.
- 11:18And this explains why so many people feel wired but tired, inflamed, and depleted, reactive to their food and their environment, and unable to recover or bounce back from simple viruses.
- 11:36This is not a genetic weakness.
- 11:39This is overload.
- 11:42But here is the empowering truth.
- 11:44The body is designed to detoxify.
- 11:48But detox capacity can be overwhelmed.
- 11:51When the toxic load exceeds the body's capacity, symptoms appear.
- 11:57And that doesn't mean the body's broken.
- 11:59It means it needs support and fewer insults coming in.
- 12:05And here's where control comes back into the picture.
- 12:08We can control our exposure to these chemicals, especially those that we are eating, drinking, and slathering onto our bodies, as well as spraying into our own homes.
- 12:23Because once you know where these toxins actually hide, in products, in packaging, in food and water, in air in our homes, you regain the leverage.
- 12:36If you know how the toxins are entering the body, you can stop the incoming load.
- 12:41And if you stop the exposure, you immediately reduce the burden.
- 12:46That alone can change your physiology.
- 12:49Now, when you layer in intentional targeted strategies to support detoxification, like supporting the gut, supporting the bioflow, supporting the liver, supporting the routes of elimination, you don't just cope, you actually lower your total toxic burden and the amount of damage being caused by it.
- 13:11Now, folks, this is not about perfection.
- 13:13This is about leverage.
- 13:15Small changes done consistently, create measurable shifts in inflammation, immune function, and cellular health.
- 13:24Translation, health of your body.
- 13:28So remember, you are not powerless.
- 13:30You are not doomed by the environment that you were born into.
- 13:34With knowledge, with awareness, and with strategic support, you can absolutely make a dent in your body's toxic burden.
- 13:42And in segment two, we're gonna break that down in detail.
- 13:45But before we get there, I want to leave you with this thought.
- 13:49Your body is not a passive victim.
- 13:52It is beautifully designed to detoxify, to repair, and to regenerate.
- 13:58As long as you stop flooding it with chemicals it was never built to handle.
- 14:02And once you stop that incoming load, once you lighten the burden, your detoxification systems wake up.
- 14:10They turn back on if you give them what they need to function properly, and they become efficient again.
- 14:18So your job is to create the conditions for your body to heal.
- 14:23And the good news is that starts with awareness and awareness is exactly what we're building today.
- 14:30But before we move on, let's hear from our sponsor.
- 14:33So guys, stay with me as we move into what you can do to lessen your toxic burden.

- 21:22Welcome back to America Out Loud Pulse.
- 21:25I'm Dr.
- 21:25Mariah Hinshe.
- 21:26And as a quick reminder, our America Out Loud Pulse hosts are here Monday through Friday at 5 p.m.
- 21:33Eastern Standard Time.
- 21:34And every episode goes to podcast the following day if you missed it or joined us late in an episode.
- 21:41All right, let's jump back in.
- 21:44Now we shift to the heart of the episode, prevention and therapy through food, through lifestyle, and through clinical level strategies that you can begin immediately.
- 21:58We start with avoidance because the single most effective detoxification strategy is so simple.
- 22:06Stop the exposure.
- 22:08You cannot meaningfully decrease your body burden if the faucet is still running.
- 22:16So let's talk about smart swaps.
- 22:19When it comes to personal care, choose fragrance free, paraben-free, and phthalate-free products.
- 22:28Read the ingredient label for fragrance, parfume, or long lists of words that you don't recognize.
- 22:36Start by replacing one item, the one that you use the most.
- 22:41And for many people, that's either deodorant or shampoo.
- 22:47Now let's talk about food packaging and plastics.
- 22:51Please never ever reheat food in a plastic or styrofoam container.
- 22:58Please use glass or ceramic and do not have it be coated in a nonstick material.
- 23:07Heat increases chemical migration and will directly take the toxins from the plastics, the styrofoam, or the nonstick materials directly into your food.
- 23:23So switch to glass or stainless steel for food storage and reheating.
- 23:29And please, guys, stop reheating your food in a microwave.
- 23:34You're destroying all of the nutrients.
- 23:39And then you know, getting aluminum from aluminum cans definitely is not a good idea either.
- 23:45So I would really try to avoid eating canned foods unless it was clean.
- 23:52So I would really try to avoid using canned foods unless it was canned in a glass container.
- 24:00Now moving on to cookware.
- 24:02Avoid heating at very high temperatures on nonstick surfaces.
- 24:07Swap to stainless steel, cast iron or enamel, especially for searing or high heat cooking.
- 24:17Now, when it comes to water, consider a quality point of use filter for your drinking water.
- 24:24And install a shower filter if you're and install a shower filter if you're immune and install a shower filter if your municipal water contains chloride, chloramines, fluoride, or other contaminants, bringing in toxins from the environment.
- 24:46When you are painting your house, choose low VOC paints and sealants.
- 24:52We want to really avoid these synthetic scented candles and plug in air fresheners.
- 24:59You are literally just creating toxic air to breathe.
- 25:05You should address any signs of water damage immediately.
- 25:19And now let's talk about food as medicine.
- 25:22And this is where hope gets practical, because the foods you eat every day are either supporting your detoxification or burdening it.
- 25:32So let's start with the big ones, cruciferous vegetables.
- 25:37This includes broccoli, broccoli sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale.
- 25:43These are all detoxification powerhouses.
- 25:47They contain glucosinolates that convert into sulforophane and other related compounds that are helpful to detoxify and protect your cells.
- 25:59Sulforophane upregulates phase two enzymes of the liver's detoxification systems.
- 26:06These are your protective conjugation pathways and it stimulates antioxidant defenses.
- 26:13For you as the listener, that means adding a serving of cruciferous vegetables every day of the week.
- 26:21Have them lightly steamed, throw them into a smoothie, or you can get them as sprouts and sprinkle them on your salad.
- 26:30Broccoli sprouts are a concentrated source and they're easy to add daily and they taste great.
- 26:38And if for some reason you really just can't stomach it, you can get broccoli seed extract or sulforophane as a supplement.
- 26:48Okay, moving on to our next category: bitters and bitter greens.
- 26:52These include dandelion, arugula, chicory, end dive, raditio.
- 26:59These vegetables all stimulate bile production and gallbladder contraction.
- 27:05And if you're wondering why this is important, bile is how your body actually moves fat soluble toxins into the stool.
- 27:15If bile is stagnant, those toxins just get reabsorbed.
- 27:20So we want to use foods to stimulate the gallbladder to contract and release bile so that bile can trap these toxins.
- 27:30And if you're suffering from mold-related illness or mycotoxin illness, this is such an important step to be able to get these mycotoxins out of the body.
- 27:42You know, for those of you listening who have heard of using binders to bind toxins, what happens is the bile binds these fat-soluble toxins, and then the binder actually comes in and binds the bile so that you can eliminate through your feces.
- 28:01So bile is the first step, and using these bitters and bitter greens are the first step to getting that bile flowing.
- 28:12So on a daily basis, indulge in bitter green salad or squeeze a lemon on your vegetables.
- 28:20You can also get a small bitter's tincture, and you can take a few drops of it either directly into your mouth or into your water right before meals.
- 28:31It's incredibly practical for most people to be able to do this.
- 28:36Next, let's talk about fiber.
- 28:39Now, remember, we talked about binding that bile, right, to remove the toxins from the body.
- 28:46Well, we can actually use foods and fibers that act as binders.
- 28:52We don't have to go out and get these things as a supplement.
- 28:56So fiber and binding foods are essential for stool-bound elimination of these fat-soluble toxins.
- 29:05Now, let's start by talking about soluble fiber.
- 29:09This includes pectin from apples and citrus fruit, ground flaxseed, oats, and cillium.
- 29:18These fibers help to bulk up the stool and bind the toxins.
- 29:25Then we have fermented foods and certain probiotic strains that support the microbiome, which in turn helps metabolize toxins and prevent reabsorption.
- 29:38So if you're experiencing constipation or slow transit, start with hydration, magnesium support, and soluble fiber to achieve daily bowel movements.
- 29:51And don't forget, we cannot properly hydrate without getting adequate sodium.
- 30:00So remember, water follows the sodium gradient.
- 30:04And if we're not bringing in enough sodium, we are not going to be able to bring that water in for proper hydration.
- 30:12So remember, stool is the primary route for eliminating many toxins.
- 30:19And it's important to make sure that we are having a bowel movement and eliminating through our bowels on a daily basis.
- 30:30And if you're not, that is step number one on a physiological or mechanistic intervention to help to increase the elimination of toxins from the body.
- 30:43Now let's talk about phytonutrient-rich foods.
- 30:46We have berries, green tea, leafy greens, herbs, spices.
- 30:51All of these deliver antioxidants that protect the mitochondria and the DNA from toxin-induced stress.
- 30:59They also provide natural folates, vitamins, and polyphenols that support phase two detoxification.
- 31:08Now, when it comes to mold and mycotoxins, this is a major under-recognized issue.
- 31:19In the world of complex chronic illness, which is the world in which I practice mold-related illness and mycotoxins play a huge role in driving the immune imbalance, inflammation, dysbiosis, and neurological inflammatory effects and symptoms that I see in my patients.
- 31:47This is a major underrecognized issue.
- 31:52So mycotoxins are fat soluble.
- 31:55They rely heavily on bile for elimination.
- 31:58In water damage buildings, mold spores and fragments release mycotoxins when they feel threatened.
- 32:07They release these mycotoxins into the indoor air and into dust.
- 32:13Chronic inhalation creates a persistent internal burden, especially if the environment has not been remediated.
- 32:24Foodborne mycotoxins from improperly stored grains, nuts, coffee also contribute.
- 32:32And if someone suspects mold exposure, the first priority is environmental assessment and remediation.
- 32:39I highly recommend using the dust test from a company called We Inspect, and you can find that at the dust.com.
- 32:50You can actually collect the dust from your home or your work environment and send it out to be analyzed so that you can see what species of mold are present.
- 33:02And then if you've done a mycotoxin test on yourself, you can cross-reference and see if the mycotoxins coming out of you are mycotoxins that are found in the species of mold that were detected in your environment.
- 33:19So clinically, protecting the organs that detoxify mycotoxins like the kidneys, the liver, and the gut, supporting bile flow, strengthening gut integrity, and using binders under clinician guidance are strategies that interrupt enterohepatic recirculation of mycotoxins and help someone to safely detox.
- 33:52Now, let's get practical with an easy food-based daily plan that you can start this week.
- 33:58Each morning, have a small serving of cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli sprouts on toast with avocado or a side of steamed broccoli.
- 34:09Add a bitter salad or bitter greens to lunch or to dinner.
- 34:14Including a cup of berries or green tea as an antioxidant boost.
- 34:19Add a tablespoon or two of ground flax or ground chia seed for additional daily fiber.
- 34:27Swap one processed snack for a piece of whole low glycemic fruit or a handful of low lectin nuts.
- 34:37Add a couple dashes of bitters to your water or directly into your mouth before a meal.
- 34:44Remember, supplements can be helpful, but the foundation is always food.
- 34:50If you're choosing supplements, prioritize quality, third-party tested and clearly labeled supplements.
- 35:00Remember, all supplements are not created equal, and they're not all regulated by the FDA.
- 35:07And it's so important that you make sure that what you're putting in your body is not going to make you more toxic or cause an imbalance in your biochemistry.
- 35:20Chlorella and certain binders have evidence for supporting elimination of heavy metals, but purity matters enormously.
- 35:28Activated charcoal binds many toxins in the gut and can be useful in acute settings, but again, clinical supervision matters.
- 35:37Charcoal binds medications and nutrients if used incorrectly.
- 35:42And personally, I don't think it's safe for long-term use.
- 35:48Now let's talk about lifestyle practices that reduce exposure immediately.
- 35:53Again, don't microwave food in plastic ever.
- 35:58And I would implore you to stop microwaving in general.
- 36:03Open your windows as often as possible.
- 36:06Get cross-ventilation going in your house.
- 36:10Swap out fragranced laundry products for fragrance free, or those that have a scent from organic essential oils.
- 36:19Remove shoes at the door to reduce dust load and stop bringing toxins in from outside.
- 36:27Wash your hands before eating to reduce hand-to-mouth transfer of environmental chemicals.
- 36:33But when you do, do it with a soap that doesn't contain fragrances or parabens or phthalates.
- 36:41These small shifts can create massive cumulative impact.
- 36:47Now on to the movement and daily actions that support elimination.
- 36:52Walking, rebounding, and simply stretching stimulate lymphatic flow.
- 36:58Dry brushing before a shower assists superficial lymph movement and skin turnover.
- 37:04Sauna therapies like infrared or even traditional supports sweating as an elimination route for certain metals and chemicals.
- 37:13Remember, your skin is actually your largest organ of detoxification.
- 37:19It's important to hydrate well before and after a sauna session and replenish with electrolytes.
- 37:27One of my favorite is the relax sauna.
- 37:32And this has far infrared technology that actually works on the cellular level to help you detox cellularly as opposed to just sweating.
- 37:46And sleep, sleep is not negotiable.
- 37:50Your glymphatic system clears brain waste during sleep.
- 37:55Good sleep hygiene, including a consistent bedtime, low evening lighting, and reduced screen time literally improves brain detoxification.
- 38:07Now, before we hit our next break, here's a start or 30-day plan that you can follow.
- 38:13Week one, remove one plastic food contact item and one fragranced product from your daily life.
- 38:23Week two, add in cruciferous vegetables daily and include a bitter salad or bitter greens or bitters three times per week.
- 38:34Week three, focus on enhancing daily bowel movements.
- 38:39Remember, hydration with salt and water and fiber as well as magnesium support if necessary.
- 38:49Now I love magnesium bisglycinate as a general magnesium that supports all systems.
- 38:56But if you're really, really constipated, you might want to try magnesium citrate or magnesium.
- 39:02Now, week four, add in sauna sessions if appropriate and schedule any necessary home remediation or water testing.
- 39:14Folks, these are small steps, but they compound into really, really big results.

- 43:37Welcome back to America Out Loud Pulse.
- 43:39You're listening to our final segment where we bring everything together in a step-by-step clinical yet practical detoxification roadmap that you can follow and where to get professional help if you need it.
- 43:53So step one, stop the incoming exposures.
- 43:57We've already covered what this means.
- 43:59Clean personal care and cleaning products, filtered water, glass and stainless steel food storage, as well as cooking materials.
- 44:12Make organic choices where they matter most.
- 44:15Look at the clean 15 or the dirty dozen.
- 44:21Consider home remediation if mold is confirmed.
- 44:25And again, I suggest using the dust test by We Inspect that can be found at thedustest.com.
- 44:33And you can check the show notes here to find the links to a lot of things that I'm talking about today.
- 44:39And then finally, practical reductions in electromagnetic field and toxic media exposure.
- 44:48So start here first.
- 44:51Stop the incoming exposures.
- 44:54Turn that faucet off.
- 44:56This step actually gives you the highest return on investment.
- 45:02Okay, moving on to step two.
- 45:04We want to optimize gut function and elimination from the body.
- 45:11So daily, well-formed bowel movements are not negotiable.
- 45:16Stool is the major route for removing conjugated fat-soluble toxins.
- 45:22If you are not going daily, start simple.
- 45:26Increase hydration.
- 45:28Add a tablespoon of ground flax or chia seed.
- 45:33Include soluble fibers like oats or cilum.
- 45:37Consider magnesium citrate or glycinate at night if tolerated.
- 45:44And probiotics, especially bifidobacterium, can help to normalize transit time and support the microbial metabolism of toxins.
- 45:55If constipation is chronic or severe, this is where you need to involve your clinician.
- 46:02And I strongly suggest that you find one that specializes in functional medicine so that they're not just giving you pharmaceutical band-aids to treat your GI symptoms.
- 46:15They're getting to the root cause, and they are influencing your biochemistry and your physiology so that you can produce normal healthy bowel movements on your own.
- 46:27Because if you're constipated, there's a reason for it.
- 46:31And doesn't it make sense to find out that reason and address it instead of taking laxatives or drugs to speed up your transit time?
- 46:41I think so.
- 46:43All right, moving on to step three.
- 46:46Make sure that you actually have the micronutrients needed that act as cofactors for phase one and phase two of the liver's detoxification systems.
- 46:56Now, your liver depends on B vitamins, magnesium, certain amino acids, and sulfur-rich foods.
- 47:03So think eggs, legumes, garlic and onions, cruciferous vegetables again, and lean quality proteins.
- 47:16Now, something called N-acetylcysteine, commonly referred to as NAC or NAC, is clinically used to increase glutathione.
- 47:26We can use silamarin or milk thistle, which is one of the most widely used hepatoprotective botanicals.
- 47:37These are helpful tools, but dosing and interactions belong in the hands of clinicians.
- 47:44Step four, bind and remove.
- 47:47This is where we reduce the recirculation of toxins back into the bloodstream.
- 47:54Food-based fibers like psilium, pectin, and flaxseed help bind toxins in the stool.
- 48:01Clinically, activated charcoal and cholestyramine are used to bind specific toxins or interrupt recirculation.
- 48:10Guys, hear me when I say these are not do-it-yourself tools.
- 48:15These things need to be used only under medical supervision.
- 48:19And in fact, cholesteromine is a pharmaceutical that you will need a prescription for.
- 48:25And in my world, I don't use it.
- 48:28I don't need to.
- 48:29Now, these binders, as well as others like chlorella or G3M, can also remove fat-soluble mycotoxins when used correctly.
- 48:42As a safe general rule, start with food and fiber, then move on to targeted binders with your clinician only if needed.
- 48:53All right, going on to step five.
- 48:56We want to mobilize and excrete these toxins.
- 49:00Now, sweating is one of the most effective ways.
- 49:03And we can even sweat out spike protein.
- 49:10Sweating removes certain heavy metals as well as other volatile compounds.
- 49:16Saunas amplify this, especially when paired with proper hydration and electrolytes.
- 49:24Moving our bodies is crucial.
- 49:27Movement and muscle contraction actually pumps the lymphatic fluid through the body and improves interstitial fluid flow.
- 49:37Translation, movement of toxins from inside of the cell to the outside of the cell and from the outside of the cell into the lymphatic system, which is basically our body's sewer system, which then gets dumped into our intestine or filtered through the kidney and liver for removal out of the body.
- 49:59So
- 50:00How do we pump this lymphatic system?
- 50:03This is actually easy.
- 50:05Walking, rebounding, deep breathing, strength training, all of this counts.
- 50:15Manual lymphatic drainage or compression therapy can be added in more complex cases or to speed the relief of lymphatic stagnation.
- 50:28Deep breathing in general can remove volatile compounds and supports the autonomic nervous system.
- 50:35Deep breathing can actually stimulate the vagus nerve and help to balance the autonomic nervous system.
- 50:45And sleep, sleep is crucial.
- 50:47Sleep is in the top three things needed to be healthy.
- 50:54In this case, sleep is essential for glymphatic clearance of toxins from the brain.
- 51:02Step number six, repair the barrier and reduce recirculation of toxins.
- 51:08Healing the gut lining prevents reabsorption and calms immune activation.
- 51:13We can use bone broth if we're not histamine sensitive.
- 51:17We can let certain vegetables cool for 24 hours after cooking them to create resistant starches.
- 51:26We can use targeted probiotic strains.
- 51:29All of these things are therapies to support and increase gut barrier integrity.
- 51:36And we need to avoid dietary triggers that prolong gut inflammation.
- 51:44These include foods that have high levels of lectins, eating a lot of gluten, eating a lot of dairy, eating a lot of sugar, or eating foods that your immune system has tagged as foreign invaders and are now making antibodies too.
- 52:02And you can do simple food sensitivity testing to identify these things if you really want to get a if you really want to bring this to a level of individualization.
- 52:19Now, when should we consider advanced clinical therapies?
- 52:23Well, when testing shows that there are elevated heavy metals in the body or persistent mycotoxin loads, or when symptoms are significant and environmental exposure is confirmed.
- 52:36We can use chelation therapies like DMSA, DMPS, calcium EDTA, which are prescription levered tools.
- 52:45They require baseline labs and proper monitoring.
- 52:49These are not casual wellness trends, and I do not advise that you look into any of these on your own.
- 52:57They need to be used under a qualified and knowledgeable clinician.
- 53:03For mold illness, the first step is always remediation of the environment.
- 53:09And this needs to be done thoroughly and properly.
- 53:13Then clinician directed protocols that may include binders, specific antifungal strategies, and targeted nutrient support.
- 53:23Now let me give you a simple, practical 90-day starter program that you can follow.
- 53:31Days one through 30.
- 53:34So month one.
- 53:35Stop the faucet.
- 53:37Remove plastics.
- 53:39Switch one personal care item.
- 53:41I suggest deodorant or shampoo.
- 53:44Install a basic water filter.
- 53:46Choose two organic produce items a week that you're going to trade out.
- 53:51Add in at least one serving of cruciferous vegetables a day.
- 53:55Add in one bitter green item or use bitters, increase your fiber, and aim for daily bowel movements.
- 54:04Days 31 through 60 or month two, we're going to add in sauna two to three times a week.
- 54:12And I love using far infrared sauna for this.
- 54:16You can add in either rebounding or brisk daily walking.
- 54:22You can start a gentle liver support like milk thistle or N acetylcysteine.
- 54:29You could consider getting basic heavy metal screening if you have high-risk factors, which would include occupational exposure, living in an old home, or living through an old home renovation, eating a lot of seafood in your diet, or a known past exposure.
- 54:50Days 61 through 90, if symptoms persist or tests show elevation, partner with a functional medicine clinician that is trained in environmental medicine.
- 55:02This is where targeted binding protocols or chelation may become appropriate.
- 55:08And as always, keep the foundations in place.
- 55:11Food is medicine.
- 55:14Move your body.
- 55:27Because here's the truth that we will end on.
- 55:31Focus on progress over perfection.
- 55:35Detoxification doesn't have to be extreme.
- 55:38It isn't a fad and it isn't a quick fix.
- 55:43It's persistent and consistent, evidence-informed practices to reduce exposure and empower your body to clear what it's already accumulated.
- 55:56Remember, folks, you are not helpless.
- 55:59You are not defined by the chemical burden you were born into.
- 56:03And with the knowledge and small steady changes, you can dramatically shift your health trajectory.
- 56:12Thank you for listening to America Out Loud Pulse.
- 56:15Remember, stop the exposures, feed your detox pathways with phytonutrient-rich food and bitters, move that body daily, sleep well, and work with a qualified clinician that understands advanced therapies when necessary.
- 56:33And as always, remember, knowledge is the pathway to freedom, and health freedom is what we're fighting for.
