- 1:31Hey, how's everybody doing? Welcome back to another edition
- 1:35of the Be Forever Cool podcast. My name is Rex 45 and I am.
- 1:41Sort of live and direct. It's been a crazy weekend.
- 1:45Shout out to all them. You know everybody.
- 1:48I love motorcycles. Shout out to all the

- 2:01obviously. We got folks in the UK, we got
- 2:03folks in Nigeria, we got folks in Kenya, we got folks in
- 2:09Australia. So definitely shout out to
- 2:11everyone that's tuning in and checking out this thing right
- 2:13here that we're doing called be very cool.
- 2:17My name is Rex 45. If I didn't say that already,
- 2:20I'm get into it. Cuz it's it's it's been a crazy
- 2:23weekend if you if you're a motorcycle fan.
- 2:27If you race the motorcycle and you happen to be at a track this
- 2:30weekend, it's it's crazy. So, you know, before I get into
- 2:34the the global stuff, let's get into what I what happened?
- 2:36Because you know, for the last few episodes I've been talking
- 2:39about, I'm going back into racing and not like I left, but
- 2:43I moved and you know, you got to settle in and do all these
- 2:46things and then fortunately racing is not at the forefront
- 2:50when you're doing that. You got to get settled in before
- 2:52you can do that. So I was able to.
- 2:55Get out this past weekend at Roebling, which is, you know one
- 2:58of my favorite tracks. It's one of the tracks that when
- 3:02I decided to do some regional stuff and some it's regional
- 3:06stuff. It was one of the first tracks I
- 3:09came to from racing at Loudon. I've been to.
- 3:12I was at Homestead before that and maybe like maybe a couple
- 3:17of. I don't know if I didn't track
- 3:18days yet or not. I I don't remember off the top
- 3:21of my head, but it was one of the first tracks I went to and
- 3:24when I went there it was like 4546 degrees and rainy and it
- 3:31was cold and I didn't, I didn't appreciate it in in the least
- 3:35bit and I sucked it up. I rode This is 2021 and I was
- 3:44freezing. My hand was cold, just just just
- 3:46cold. Period.
- 3:47And the thing about that race, after it was done, while I was
- 3:52doing it beforehand, obviously I I didn't even have any idea.
- 3:56But once I completed that race, like I realized I could do any
- 4:00race after that because you know there's you know there's photos
- 4:04on on social media and stuff from from that race and you can
- 4:07see my hands, they're just like hanging on the handlebars
- 4:10because they're they're frozen. So it it's just like it's just
- 4:13gas and I'm just. Squeezing you know the the the
- 4:16throttle just to keep it in place or whatever the case maybe
- 4:18because my fingers were done and and that goes to the level of
- 4:23you know what you can put your body through what your body can
- 4:26tolerate and stuff like that. And you know I've, I've jacked
- 4:30myself up racing. So I've I've, I know more pain
- 4:34than just having my hands really cold.
- 4:36So it it was easier to fight through.
- 4:40But I was not a fan of racing in the cold.
- 4:43Before that, but now it's just kind of like it doesn't matter
- 4:45if it's rain, if it's cold, it doesn't matter.
- 4:47You just go out there and do it. So I went out and this past
- 4:52weekend and and raced and the weather was beautiful.
- 4:56It wasn't like Jersey. Shout out to all the Motor
- 4:58America riders and fans that that you know did that thing up
- 5:03there because you know it's crazy.
- 5:06So it weather was beautiful. It was nice to be on the bike
- 5:09again. Still got some bike issues.
- 5:13That I got to deal with. So it's not completely where I
- 5:16wanted to be. I will say I put some GP
- 5:19cartridges in the front of on my bike.
- 5:24Well, it's the front. So and I have to say I like them
- 5:28a lot, you know, I wasn't sure it didn't you know, the
- 5:32installation, Well, not so much the installation, but getting
- 5:35everything sorted out didn't go according to plan.
- 5:38So you know, I I was already like kind of like.
- 5:43Not really like necessary, 100% feeling the forks, not
- 5:46necessarily like because of the forks themself, but just dealing
- 5:49with getting the right ones and and and going through what I had
- 5:52to go through to just sort it out and it just seemed like it
- 5:54took forever to get it sorted out.
- 5:57But partly I was moving. So you know that that that also
- 6:00played a part in it. But I have to say after running
- 6:04this weekend that that's the highlight.
- 6:07You know, just compared to the stock forks, that's the
- 6:10highlight the bike. Felt like it was on rails.
- 6:16I'm a big fan of Ducati and and this probably the most mileage I
- 6:20have on bikes that I've been riding and you know my Ducatis
- 6:23are like it's like an extension of me so and even the KTM, even
- 6:28my 2015 KTM that took some getting used to it, it still
- 6:33feels a bit stiff this 2022. Even before I felt good on it, I
- 6:40felt really good on the bike. But now after having the forks
- 6:43the front just it it it if I think it does it, it felt really
- 6:48good. So I'm I'm excited about that,
- 6:52came away with a couple of first places, so excited about that.
- 6:55So it was nice to be be on the top spot at the podium as well.
- 6:58So I'm looking forward to Dayton Daytona coming up in a couple of
- 7:02months and you know. I wasn't really looking to fight
- 7:07for any regional titles this year, but somehow I found myself
- 7:11up upfront. So you know, there's a couple of
- 7:13that, you know, if I I got to go to the Daytona and I'll try my
- 7:17best, like I always try my best at all the tracks anyway.
- 7:20And even though, you know, looking at at points and stuff
- 7:24like that, I was like, oh, OK, you know, I'm not that far off.
- 7:28So you know, I'm it's competitive.
- 7:30But honestly, at this point, it's the end of the season.
- 7:33It's the last race of the year. It's you know, not to say I'm
- 7:36not I'm very competitive, but it it I wasn't concerned about you
- 7:42know titles or anything like that.
- 7:43I was just riding just to get some timing because I knew what
- 7:45was happening and stuff like that.
- 7:47So it's kind of like, you know after this weekend and doing the
- 7:50show now it's kind of like yeah I have you know, yeah, I mean
- 7:55you know I'm in the top five in in a few in a couple of regions.
- 7:59So I'm I'm excited at that and you know, I'll try to do my best
- 8:02at at Daytona. So I'm definitely looking
- 8:05forward to that. You know, my body overall felt
- 8:08pretty good. So I'm I'm, I'm happy with the
- 8:12training I've been doing and it's only been about a month of
- 8:15training. But I mean it's not like I I've
- 8:17been working out forever. So you know, I'm, I'm happy with
- 8:21it. You know, there's still some
- 8:23probably some more stretching I need to do.
- 8:25You know, there's a lot of right turns at Roebling, so my, you
- 8:29know, the right side of my body felt a little bit more.
- 8:31But overall you know I felt right feel pretty good and and
- 8:35I'm looking forward to it. Like I said the bike is not
- 8:37100%. I got some stuff I have to do to
- 8:39sort out. But overall I'm I'm very excited
- 8:43with that. So you know I'm looking forward
- 8:46to Daytona next month. So while you know racing and and
- 8:51being at the track and traveling and and and I have to say you
- 8:54know traveling from Florida to Georgia obviously is a lot
- 8:58easier than traveling from Boston to Georgia.
- 9:00Go Boston today to Daytona or whatever the case may maybe
- 9:03which is what I was doing up until this point.
- 9:05So I'm I'm that part of it I'm looking forward to you know like
- 9:11I said on the show, I'm planning to do at least Roblin One in the
- 9:14Roblin. I'm planning to do Loudon at
- 9:15least once a year. So I know I'm going to make that
- 9:18drive up at least once a year and and and so but most like in
- 9:23Jersey I probably do once a year.
- 9:25But everything else is is within relatively you know reasonable
- 9:29driving time. So I'm looking forward to that.
- 9:31I'm hoping to do some West Coast racing as well.
- 9:34So obviously that's going to be a little bit different but it is
- 9:38what it is. But you know being able to be
- 9:40down here and get to tracks that are a lot closer to me now that
- 9:45I've wanted to race at, I'm looking forward to next year and
- 9:47and and what tracks I get to. So overall that was pretty good.
- 9:52You know I'll keep it in the US. Well, let's talk about Motor
- 9:56America a little bit. First of all, shout out to Eli
- 10:00Block for winning his first to Motor America races.
- 10:07We had him on the show on last season's episode.
- 10:10He had mentioned talking. He mentioned, you know, he's he
- 10:12had some Motor America races he wanted to get into and you know
- 10:16he went to Jersey and did his thing.
- 10:19So shout out to him for that. It's not an easy Rd.
- 10:23He's one of these guys. He's like, you know, he's like
- 10:27Mesa in a sense, talented riders, very talented riders,
- 10:32you know, but I I it it, not every rider gets the funding and
- 10:37motorcycle racing is very expensive and you know and you
- 10:41know there's only so many teams but there's a lot of riders.
- 10:44So you know, you usually kind of fend funding your own project.
- 10:48Nine times out of 10, even at the top level, obviously you
- 10:51still funding your own project in a sense through sponsors and
- 10:53whatever else, right. So because motorcycle racing,
- 10:56car racing is different than you know, NBA and baseball and
- 11:00soccer, I mean football is cutthroat.
- 11:02So I can't, you know, I I'll leave football alone for right
- 11:05now. But you know it it it, it is, it
- 11:08is very different. So it's very hard to, you know,
- 11:11bikes. People you know, friends and
- 11:15family and support and you know getting to that level and and
- 11:19and and and trying to get there and it's very difficult when you
- 11:24know you're a writer and you have the skill sets to be to to
- 11:28to run with the national guys, maybe even international folks
- 11:32and you know, funding. You you can't get there and
- 11:37that's for a lot of people in this world so it's it's it's you
- 11:40know it is what it is but shout out to him for doing that you
- 11:43know I I hope you know I hope teams see see saw what he's what
- 11:48he did and you know offer him you know something because you
- 11:53know that's huge. Shout out to Kayla as well
- 11:56because you know she she got on the podium as well on the on the
- 11:59Super sport class, you know she's 16, fast rider.
- 12:04You know one you know international races as well so
- 12:09it's huge for these American kids.
- 12:12You know what I mean? So and it was a I wasn't there
- 12:16shout out to TJ he has a lot of images on on his social media
- 12:20pages. You know a lot of rain a lot of
- 12:23rain a lot of rain a lot of rain.
- 12:26So it's not you know, we race in any condition just about, but
- 12:29you like it when it's sunny and and.
- 12:32You know, maybe 7580, not too hot, none of that stuff.
- 12:35So that part was crazy. I think there's like one more
- 12:38round or maybe a couple more rounds of Motor America before
- 12:41the season is over and until next year.
- 12:44But you know, some young writers doing doing their thing, I can
- 12:48go on and on, but you know, the show is is only so long.
- 12:53So let's touch on Moto GP. Bezeki I mean, you know what?
- 13:00What can I say? It's unfortunate what happened
- 13:03in the Sprint race because he had the pace to win that race as
- 13:06well. And you know, for, you know the
- 13:12thing about there's right, you know, there's whatever and
- 13:18there's gonna be comments. So it is what it is.
- 13:20But I'm going to speak my mind anyway.
- 13:22But you know, they're right. You know, they're writers that
- 13:24know their tracks and they're fast at the tracks that they
- 13:27know. And then you know the right then
- 13:30these same riders will go to different tracks and and they're
- 13:34not as quick. So for Moto GP for Bezeki to win
- 13:41the second race like 9 seconds ahead of everybody on a track
- 13:45that no one has written written on from Moto GP before.
- 13:49Or maybe they have in in in some other form, but not in Moto GP.
- 13:52It's the first time in in India. And to be that far ahead, that's
- 13:56a whole different skill set right there, because you have to
- 13:59learn to track and you got to be quick.
- 14:03And some writers got exposed with not knowing the track as
- 14:07well. And it's the natural instinct
- 14:10and natural feel. It is what it is.
- 14:12You'll see some riders that come to tracks, new tracks and they
- 14:15just quick, quick, quick, quick all the time.
- 14:17And then other people like myself takes a while to get up
- 14:20to speed and and learn to track. So the fact that you know he's
- 14:25what, second year in Moto GP, he's third in the championship,
- 14:31he went to a new track and dominated he.
- 14:35If he didn't, if that incident didn't happen in the Sprint, you
- 14:38know he finished fifth and I think he fell all the way back
- 14:40to like. 15th or something like that.
- 14:44To do that, to be a second year guy, to also you know, knowing
- 14:50you could have gone to Pramac, you know taking that backseat to
- 14:54your one of your one of your Academy mates and you know
- 14:57letting them get that ride, you know that that's huge.
- 15:00So you know shout out to him he's a force listening to the
- 15:03press conference. You know, someone you know said
- 15:06He's like Rossi, and you know he's.
- 15:09He doubted it. He, you know, not even close
- 15:10because you know you mentioned Rossi one more title, one more
- 15:14races. But at his age, at the same age
- 15:16Bezeki, he's at. So no.
- 15:18But the fact that he has a guy like that in this corner, you
- 15:22know it it's it's one of those things where it's like the
- 15:26Jackson five or six, right. Michael Jackson is is the way he
- 15:32is because he had his five older brothers sisters.
- 15:36To just feed off of while they were doing their thing.
- 15:39Obviously I but Zachy didn't get to Rossi at five years old or
- 15:42wasn't born into the family. But he's he's one of the younger
- 15:46guys in the in the Academy and you look for Morbidelli, you
- 15:50look at Peco and then you look at Bez, right?
- 15:54I mean, you know, there's other riders that's left the Academy.
- 15:58I don't know why they've left or whatever the case may be, but
- 16:00they're they're doing their thing and they're still elite
- 16:02writers And so you see these writers that they train
- 16:05together. You know I I think just being
- 16:09one of the younger ones and and and and seeing all of that and
- 16:12seeing you know the these other writers including Rossi already
- 16:16sorted out a lot of things. He he he he soaked it up and he
- 16:19might just be a natural talent or he just listens and and
- 16:23learns really fast, but he figured that track out and.
- 16:27He was ghost on those guys. You know it's unfortunate that
- 16:32Peco had to crashed out and you know, cuz you know there's this
- 16:37title point. I don't you know, I'm, I don't
- 16:41know why he crashed. So I can't really say.
- 16:44I don't know if it's pressure from from trying to just catch
- 16:47Bez. Maybe he should have just
- 16:49thought about you know sitting in second place and and just
- 16:52ride it out or you know where as a rider you know you you feel
- 16:55you can chase. You know, I I, you know I in in
- 16:59in in the races. You know the other classes in my
- 17:02races and I was trying to keep up with those guys.
- 17:05I'm on a I'm on a 42 horsepower these guys are on you know 80
- 17:09plus horsepower you know lightweight bikes and I was
- 17:12trying to catch them just you know because that's as a as a
- 17:17rider, as a racer you you, it doesn't matter right.
- 17:20You'll do everything in your power to try to catch somebody.
- 17:23So it could have been something like that why he crashed out.
- 17:26It's not a lot of crashes like last season, which is the good
- 17:29part. You know at at some point
- 17:32somebody's going to, you know, smarter than me is going to say,
- 17:35hey man, don't no more crashes for the rest of the season.
- 17:37If you want this thing, you know, figure out your battles.
- 17:41If if you're, if you're battling and you feel you got it and you
- 17:43got more pace than somebody. It's one thing.
- 17:46If you know if you're looking for bragging rights or whatever
- 17:49the case may be, maybe you know, maybe not today.
- 17:52And that, that was unfortunate. You know, Marquez, some other
- 17:55riders crashed out, crashed out. So crazy.
- 17:58Jack Miller, I don't know what's going on there, you know, I
- 18:04don't know if it's a, I don't know what's going on.
- 18:09But the guy came out the gate doing really well, helped them
- 18:15sort out the KTM to put it to a different level, and he's been
- 18:19struggling a little bit ever since.
- 18:21And you know I I don't I'm not one for rumors you know.
- 18:26But you know if Pedro's coming into Moto GP and they haven't
- 18:32announced who's losing the seat yet you know he may maybe it's
- 18:37just how he feels. Maybe it's a you know Jordan
- 18:39pool type of thing with the Warriors just you know just
- 18:42don't like how how he got treated and and he just you know
- 18:45he you know if if you're putting your.
- 18:49If you're putting your life on the line because these guys are
- 18:53at that, at that level, at any level, when you're on a
- 18:55motorcycle, right and organization that you work for,
- 19:01you don't feel that 100% behind you got your back.
- 19:04You may take a lesser risk as a rider.
- 19:07You may take less chances as as a rider or or just not feeling
- 19:11the part. So I don't know if it's
- 19:12something like that because you know.
- 19:15It's it seems like he started out the gate and it's been going
- 19:18backwards and that's not normally Jack Miller style.
- 19:23So that that that that's a little weird that Miller didn't
- 19:27hasn't really you know shown potential and it seems like you
- 19:30know the Brads of the world and and and other folks are having
- 19:33you know a little bit better time than that.
- 19:35So I hope it's nothing like that, but you know it is, it is
- 19:38is. It is unfortunate to see Alex
- 19:40Marquez broke some ribs. That's unfortunate.
- 19:44I don't know if he's going to be out for the next round because
- 19:46there's going to be rounds and and and on top of rounds.
- 19:49I think we got like 6 rounds left.
- 19:51They're already going to be in Japan coming up so that that's
- 19:55unfortunate. It was good to see Joe and me
- 19:58ride better. The Yamaha is probably getting a
- 20:01better feel on the Yamaha. I I don't miss Yamaha on the on
- 20:05the Honda. Eat either way on a Honda so you
- 20:10know it was good to see that as well.
- 20:13Crazy weekend. You know Fabio on a podium that
- 20:18that has to give you a little bit boost and again one of the
- 20:20situation where it's a new track and here's another rider I think
- 20:24like Bez and and where Fabio has more of an inferior bike still
- 20:31was able to ride and get on the podium.
- 20:34I obviously I think if everyone was at this track before I knew
- 20:37this track I don't think it would have been the same story
- 20:39for Yamaha. But again it's kind of you know
- 20:42at that level the ones that can adapt quickly regardless of the
- 20:46conditions can take advantage of of of that situation.
- 20:51And I think for Cuetararo that helped also gives him a boost
- 20:55also gives his Yamaha a boost and all around so it you know
- 20:59third place but it it that that that could be the difference to
- 21:02to get them sorted out now that you know that they're going to
- 21:04be in their home round for in Japan.
- 21:07So you know let's see what happens but you know they got
- 21:11they have a they have a road that they have to go down so it
- 21:15seems like they're pretty is they they they struggled the
- 21:18whole weekend overall I think and and and that's that's that's
- 21:23that's unfortunate Again I don't know if it's the matter of the
- 21:26bikes or if it's a matter of you know just the riders new track
- 21:33you know it it it it definitely showed overall I think for for
- 21:38for the riders so you know that's Moto GP Moto two.
- 21:44Wow. Crazy right.
- 21:47You know I I I feel bad for Aaron Canett he's crashed out a
- 21:52lot The guy probably deserves to be in motor GP and you know got
- 21:57looked over. I I got to assume there's some
- 22:00animosity there because of his tattoos he got looked over you
- 22:04know he's he's still in motor to ride in and and I and you know
- 22:09he crashes a lot and it's not good for your own psyche it's
- 22:13not good for the team that you're working for It's just not
- 22:18a good look. So I he's a talented writer I'm
- 22:22rooting for the guy I you know I hope he just crashes a lot less
- 22:27and you know and they're riding on the limits for X amount of
- 22:31laps. You know whatever it is 23 laps
- 22:3322 laps 27 laps whatever it is writing down the limit the whole
- 22:36time. So mistakes are are are easy to
- 22:39make a lot of them do make mistakes that that you know they
- 22:43usually can recover from it and and not crash out.
- 22:46But a lot of these guys always close to crashing out and women
- 22:50close to cashing out because that's like you're riding at the
- 22:53limit. That's the only way to be
- 22:54because it's not someone else is going to ride to the limit and
- 22:56you know and and beat you So you know I I you know I I don't know
- 23:02if I I was hoping Jake Dixon would have had more for Pedro.
- 23:08I was hoping Celestine would have had more for Pedro but that
- 23:14that that's not happening yet. I don't know when that's going
- 23:18to happen but that that you know I hope so.
- 23:21Sorry. It seems with like 6 rounds to
- 23:23go, I don't know if Pedro is going to run away with it, but
- 23:26at the moment, you know, people are trying but it's not close.
- 23:31So I, you know it is what it is. But it was, it was, it was
- 23:33beautiful to watch this World Super Bike.
- 23:36There's so much to talk about there.
- 23:38You know Alvaro Batista crashing out in the first race, Rinaldi
- 23:43winning the first race, man, dude, you should have been
- 23:46winning the you should have been top 123 or top 1234.
- 23:50I think if he was top 1234 from the beginning of the season, I
- 23:54think he would have got a seat. Kept a seat for next year.
- 23:57Who knows where he's going to go.
- 23:59Although I think he might go to Yamaha because it's not all
- 24:01seats open. So I I think he might find a
- 24:04Yamaha. Scott Redden, he's going to
- 24:07Bonovo team. Still BMW so you know that that
- 24:14you know it is it is it is what it is there so at least he's
- 24:17still in in world Super Bike and gets to race.
- 24:20Still has a competitive bike underneath them.
- 24:22He's going to be he's going to be teammates with Girl Off whom
- 24:25a big fan of and and who's been doing fairly well.
- 24:28More consistent on the BMWI think than any of the other
- 24:31riders at the moment. Let's see what happens with tap
- 24:34when Top Rock gets there next year and and and and and and
- 24:37let's see let's see what happens.
- 24:40Nikolai Boogala Booga. I have to say you know he was
- 24:45after watching this weekend. Yeah he deserves that that
- 24:48factory seat in in in World Super Bike you know he does
- 24:53because he's beating these guys easily he's he's doing the same
- 24:57thing Albert is doing and and so he deserves that.
- 25:00Hopefully when he gets there he'll he'll run out front as
- 25:03well because you know it's it's not always easy moving up a
- 25:07class so some riders sorted out real quick other riders it takes
- 25:12a little bit longer so you know he's it's it's really who's
- 25:16finishing second and third at this point and 4th and 5th if if
- 25:20he keeps riding the way he's riding he's going to ride until
- 25:23the the the end of the the season and and and just you know
- 25:26continue win that title so there's your recap my name is
- 25:30Rex 45 it's to be forever cool podcast shout out to all the
