  and then all of a sudden he's like, but what would Sooga King do?

  And I feel like that's a really good tactic for all of us every

  has been a rough time, and this show is I will say that,

  like, of course, I am enjoying everything. I'm covering. Actually,

  there are times where I will have a particular property than when I see an
• 1:55
  episode is coming up, I'm kind of like, oh boy, because I
• 1:57
  maybe don't like it that much, or it's in a particularly heavy part of
• 2:01
  the story that feels like it's going to be a drag, and I'm not
• 2:06
  really in that space with anything I'm covering right now. I'm pretty much one
• 2:09
  on all of it, which is great, but a lot of it is
• 2:15
  the sort of thing that there's like a much more nuanced conversation to be had.

  There's a lot of like real world implications, allegory, metaphor that brings
• 2:30
  up some intense conversation. And it's not that that never happens with one piece,
• 2:38
  but it doesn't happen like super often. And I really appreciate getting a
• 2:43
  bit of a reprieve from some of the heavier shit, because it's you just
• 2:51
  gotta have something to lighten it up every once in a while, kiddos,
• 2:57
  you know. So anyway, this first episode, save Me My Hero,

  My Enemy is the Immortal Princess, is a delight because when it says save
• 3:13
  me my Hero, at first I see that title and I'm thinking this is
• 3:16
  Pirona yelling that like she's doing, you know, well, what it really
• 3:23
  is is us up calling upon his own alter ego. And I have talked
• 3:29
  a lot about what a great idea I think this is. And you guys,
• 3:32
  if I could just remember to attempt this method in the moment, that
• 3:40
  would be enough to satisfy me about whether it works or not. But I
• 3:46
  never do. I never remember, And I think the part of it is
• 3:50
  that don't really have like a super solid alter ego. I need something specific.
• 3:55
  I need a name, and I need like a vibe, and I'm
• 4:00
  going to think about it and kind of try and figure out a thing.
• 4:04
  And I encourage everybody who is listening or watching to also do this, come
• 4:10
  up with your alter ego, and it doesn't have to even like really make
• 4:15
  sense. You know. My temptation is always to pick things that are real
• 4:18
  about myself and then expand on that. But like what if I just didn't
• 4:23
  do that, and I did whatever the fuck I felt like that? There's
• 4:27
  also that, So I think that as a group, we should all just
• 4:34
  give this a shot see if the theory checks out. And if it does,
• 4:39
  And it's kind of funny because like it's basically another version of masking,
• 4:46
  and for those who are not aware, masking is a behavior exhibited by usually
• 4:53
  neurodivergent people when they consciously choose to take on personality traits that they that are
• 5:00
  not like theirs or they are. But you know what I'm saying, that
• 5:04
  personality traits that they lean on and exaggerate for the situation. And I understand
• 5:15
  that a lot of people who are not neurodivergent are just like well, everybody
• 5:19
  just sort of leans on the parts of their personality that they need to in
• 5:24
  any given situation. But it's not really the same thing. And if you
• 5:30
  it's something that I have only recently begun to truly understand about myself that I
• 5:35
  was that I've been doing my whole life, and I would have I would
• 5:40
  be like the life of the party, but I would also like have to
• 5:46
  go into the bathroom and hide for a little bit and have a tiny panic
• 5:49
  attack and wonder why I was freaking out and what was wrong, and then
• 5:56
  pull back the face, pull it back on, and go out there again
• 6:00
  and be cool. And I just didn't get why I was able to play
• 6:08
  this role but also be freaking out. And now I understand that it was
• 6:12
  like because it genuinely felt like a role. It really wasn't me, and
• 6:17
  there are times where it is genuinely me just having a ball. But unfortunately
• 6:23
  it's not as like easy to call up as you think it's gonna be,
• 6:27
  even when you are having a good time. If your brain is like kind
• 6:30
  of your enemy, it can just fuck with that, you know. Demian

  says, in all uncertain situations, ask yourself two questions. What would Jean

  luc Picard do and what would Karos Theodosian do? Well, I am not
• 6:47
  familiar with either of those properties. I know Jean Luke Pucard well like what
• 6:51
  he is from, but I have never watched it, and Karros Theodosian is

  not a name that I don't I don't even know if I'm saying that correct.

  Florian says, oh, I'm sorry, I missed it. Florian exams

  week so stressed out. I'm sorry, But good luck, bro. I

  know you could do it because you did it before and you thought you didn't

  do it, but then it turned out that you had done it. So

  just saying, so yeah, let's give Florian a fucking alter ego that he

  can call on for his exams anyway. So yeah, uh, this whole

  like section here is all about us up going up against Pirona. There's like

  a little bit where we dodge over to everybody else, but that's really where
• 7:36
  we're focused on. And he is so feeling like so good about his position
• 7:45
  with everything. And the last episode Reminder ended with her like floating outside the
• 7:51
  window, so he's really kind of like struggling because when he sees her out
• 7:58
  there, he thinks like, oh shit, I have an enemy who can
• 8:03
  fly, which isn't great for me. And you know, he's not wrong
• 8:07
  about that. If you're facing an enemy, I think most of us would
• 8:11
  really just prefer that they not be somebody who can fucking fly. But I
• 8:18
  was very very quickly starting to put it together. When she likes she shoves
• 8:26
  her hand into his chest, guys, and there is this long drawn out
• 8:31
  like here's what I'm going to do. I'm gonna put my hands around your
• 8:35
  heart and I'm gonna squeeze it until you die. So enjoy this. She
• 8:46
  says something like exquisite agony, something that's like really dark and genuinely, you
• 8:54
  guys, I was kind of like freaking out. You know, genuinely felt
• 9:01
  like, how is it that she could do this? And this isn't what
• 9:03
  she started with? What the fuck? And I was trying to keep in
• 9:09
  mind that the last time we saw a hand apparently go through somebody, that
• 9:16
  was Robin, right, I think it was Robin, and she manages to
• 9:20
  make it look like her hand went through, but it's that's not what actually
• 9:24
  happened. So I was attempting to see through what she was doing here,
• 9:31
  but I couldn't quite figure it out. And I am not expecting what happens
• 9:39
  is that because she's like not solid, she can't actually do this. But
• 9:45
  what I was thinking was that she could actually do it, and USA was
• 9:48
  just about to be saved in the nick of time by something, whether that
• 9:52
  be one of his friends swooping in or a sudden collapse of a wall,
• 9:54
  you know, the way that things happened in this show. But no,
• 9:58
  it turns out she just can't do And that was when I started to be
• 10:01
  like, wait a second, she like goes around this corner and vanishes,
• 10:07
  and now all of a sudden can turn up and fucking fly and put her
• 10:13
  hand through his body. And all of this feels like the kind of thing
• 10:18
  that if you're in a fight, you would have like done by Now you
• 10:22
  know, if she could do this, there's no reason to turn tail and
• 10:24
  sprint away from him, And rightfully us Up is asking this question as well.

  He says something like, where did all of this confidence come from?
• 10:35
  You were literally running for your life, and she says, basically, I
• 10:41
  had time to regroup. Like her whole that's her whole answer is just well,
• 10:48
  you caught me by surprise. I'm not used to being up against people
• 10:54
  who can't fight back or who can fight back really well. And I panicked
• 10:58
  for a minute, and now I have realized I don't need to run from
• 11:03
  you. And I was just like, m maybe it seems weak. And
• 11:13
  it turns out that the reason that this all happened she ducked into her room
• 11:22
  and she can project her spirit out of her body as like a separate entity.
• 11:31
  But it takes us up a little while to figure this out because he
• 11:37
  tries all kinds of attacks on her and nothing hits her. And he's genuinely
• 11:45
  beginning to fall into that place that he gets into sometimes where he's just like,
• 11:50
  I can't believe I thought I could do this. I can't believe I
• 11:54
  told my friends that I would handle it, and not only can I not
• 12:00
  handle it, but I was sort of under the impression that my friends were
• 12:03
  going to be able to pick up on the slack of whatever I couldn't take
• 12:09
  care of. But I'm not sure they can handle her either. If they
• 12:13
  all attack her and it just goes right through her, then what good are
• 12:16
  any of their skills? Valid question, So he begins to try and flee,
• 12:24
  and it's such a bummer because you guys, I mean, I think
• 12:30
  all of us are rooting for us up in these moments where we are just
• 12:35
  sad to see him like riding high and feeling capable and then all of a
• 12:43
  sudden completely laid out and running for his life. And he why he gets
• 12:50
  stopped by fucking Kumasi who whoops his ass? Kids, This bear is extremely
• 13:01
  rude. I wanted Kumissy so badly to turn to our side because he loves
• 13:07
  like being treated well and just needed an alternative to his cruel mistress. Doesn't
• 13:16
  happen. It, You know, I keep forgetting like he is also a
• 13:20
  fucking zombie, so he's gonna do what he's told. But I just keep
• 13:24
  sort of feeling like the fact that he talks, I think when she doesn't
• 13:28
  want him to is what makes me keep thinking that he has got some free
• 13:33
  will, and he kinda only has like a drop of it, it seems
• 13:39
  like. So he's like standing over us Up and punching him repeatedly right left,
• 13:48
  right, left. I mean, it's brutal. It goes on for
• 13:56
  a minute, you all, like, I really want to emp size.

  They do that thing where it's the animation of him punching, and they just
• 14:05
  reuse the same animation repeatedly three times, this like sequence, and poor us
• 14:13
  Up is in his head just being like everything was going really well. I
• 14:18
  thought I could do this. I thought I could save them, and I
• 14:22
  can't believe that I lied to myself like that. And then he yells,
• 14:26
  please save me, and all of a sudden, he jumps up on Kumassy,
• 14:37
  shoves his hand down Kumasy's throat, and now he's got the Sniper King
• 14:43
  mask on out of nowhere, and he says, tell me, Sniper King,
• 14:50
  what would you do here? And he drops the salt into Kumassy's mouth.
• 14:56
  The spirit the shadow leaves and Kumassy is fucking out out and I love
• 15:05
  this moment where Pirona is like, first of all, how could you do
• 15:13
  that to my sweet Kumacy, which I'm like, girl, look, I
• 15:16
  know Kumassy technically was your zombie, but you just didn't appreciate him, so
• 15:20
  like right out of the gate, I am going to say, shut up,
• 15:24
  because he deserved a lot better than you, and I don't want to
• 15:28
  hear it. But also what I really enjoy about this is hers saying,
• 15:35
  what's with that stupid mask? Because why wouldn't you ask that? It's a
• 15:41
  weird thing. You know, he all of a sudden, he's like getting
• 15:46
  his ass kicked on his back repeated punches that are relentless, y'all. And
• 15:54
  then all of a sudden he's beating and I mean like really beating the bear
• 16:00
  by completely removing its like body from play, and he's wearing him like.
• 16:08
  It does feel quite abrupt, and you would sort of think, if you
• 16:12
  were looking at this from the outside, that maybe the mask grants him some
• 16:18
  kind of power, which you could argue it does, but you know what
• 16:22
  I'm saying, an actual, like physical power that's attached to it. And
• 16:30
  I love this. You're kind of feeling like all right, go oos up,
• 16:36
  let's do it, and he has the mask on when he starts to
• 16:40
  run away, like I was really thinking, Oh, this is going to
• 16:44
  turn the whole fight around. It turns things around for Kumacy in the moment,
• 16:48
  and he's able to defend himself there. But he takes one look at
• 16:53
  angry Pirona and he's like, you know what, I'm out and he begins
• 16:56
  to run. So as he's running, he is first we have the Sniper
• 17:07
  King song playing, which is just a classic you guys, I love it
• 17:11
  so much. And then all of a sudden, we have Soga King in
• 17:15
  his head, like the voice that he uses when he pretends to be him
• 17:21
  speaking to himself. And this is something that I have done where I sort
• 17:30
  of talk to myself and it can help actually surprisingly with getting through moments that
• 17:36
  feel really hopeless at the time. And you just sort of talk to yourself
• 17:40
  and go all right, babe, so what are you doing and why what
• 17:45
  exactly do you think that's going to solve? Do you think this is going
• 17:48
  to help? Like is this a genuine choice you're making or are you just
• 17:51
  sort of automatically doing a thing, Because it seems like the thing to do,
• 17:56
  and I cannot tell you how often it turns out to just be that
• 18:00
  second thing. I frequently take action based on an instinctive here's what I should
• 18:07
  do that is not actually rooted in any information or knowledge or you know what
• 18:14
  I'm saying. And I really enjoy seeing usap sort of graduate to this point
• 18:22
  where he can adopt Soga King and still be himself and have these kinds of
• 18:30
  conversations between his personalities, because it seemed before that he was either Sniper King
• 18:37
  or he was himself, and there has never really been a lot of feeling
• 18:41
  of overlap there. It's almost like he even considered himself to be a separate
• 18:45
  person from Soga King, Like not really, because you know, when he
• 18:51
  talks about when he is it seems being left behind on Water seven and has
• 18:57
  to yell and apologize, he says something to himself about how like they had
• 19:03
  to know that was me right fighting with him, So like, you know,
• 19:07
  it's not like a complete split personality thing, but it has always felt
• 19:12
  for me like he has so such low confidence that to a point he doesn't
• 19:19
  feel like what happens when he's Sniper King has anything to do with him.
• 19:22
  Does that make sense? So I just really liked this moment of the conversation
• 19:30
  he's having with himself and he's saying like, there's no way I can win
• 19:33
  against her, and Sniper King is like, that's not true. I know
• 19:40
  you can think things through. And as he's saying that, we have behind
• 19:47
  him Pirona, who is summoning all of these like tiny, mini little ghosts
• 19:51
  that she is sending after him. And this is when USE starts to be
• 19:56
  like, wait a second, you're right. Things were really really weird when
• 20:03
  she came back after I lost sight of her for a second. If she
• 20:07
  was impervious to my attacks the way she seems to be now, then she
• 20:14
  wouldn't have had to run. There would have been no point to it.
• 20:17
  And he's suddenly going, all right, something's something's up, and he says
• 20:23
  to himself that's it, and I'm thinking, oh, sweet, that's it.
• 20:29
  He's gonna turn around and no, that's it. Her attacks hit him
• 20:36
  and he falls onto his face. Kids the attacks that she keeps using.
• 20:48
  She uses the word rap r ap, like either rap music or a rap
• 20:55
  on a door, you know, like knocking, And I don't really get
• 21:00
  what that's about. And I'm curious because you know, the techniques that a
• 21:07
  lot of people have are thematically named going with whatever it is there asthetic is
• 21:14
  or you know what I'm saying. The only thing that I can think that
• 21:18
  sort of ties together using ghosts and the word rap is that during like old
• 21:25
  fashioned seances in the Victorian era, there would be like rapped or twice if
• 21:30
  you can hear us ghosts, and that's the way they would use the word
• 21:33
  rap most often. So that's the only thing that I can think of,
• 21:37
  is like, that's what he was getting at. But I'm really curious if
• 21:41
  there's anything else that you guys know of for why her techniques are named this
• 21:47
  way. And it's an interesting thing too that she used like rap is contained
• 21:51
  in most of her techniques, and I don't feel like I've seen any other
• 21:56
  technique that had a word in each technique, like the I guess gum gum
• 22:07
  gat Like like when he says the name of the fruit, but did she
• 22:12
  what's the name of the fruit she'sy in? Is this this is a devil
• 22:18
  fruit power? Right? I'm assuming is it the rap rap fruit? Like
• 22:22
  what is the deal with that? I'm just feeling like I missed something here.

  But anyway, so he turns around after falling flat on his face,
• 22:33
  mask comes off, and he's laying there trying to decide what to do,
• 22:38
  and behind him, Pirona is standing over him. She slowly like lifts up
• 22:48
  from the floor and is I would guess, like about thirty feet tall.
• 22:56
  She is humongous all of a sudden, and you know, the part of
• 23:02
  her that's like looking down on him, she is only waist high from the
• 23:06
  floor, like the floor is at her waist, and she that crown that
• 23:11
  she's wearing a sort of scraping the ceiling. It is a pretty wild look.
• 23:15
  And understandably, he's just kind of like, what the fuck, because
• 23:19
  it's enough already, you know. She just keeps showing off. So he's
• 23:26
  looking around at their surroundings because it's this huge, open, pillared area,
• 23:33
  which I don't think I am alone in this probably, But all I could
• 23:38
  think about was the minds of Maria and the attack of the goblins and the
• 23:45
  way that they come, like, you know, skittering down the pillars of
• 23:49
  the room and everything. This place. There's no need for it to be
• 23:55
  this big. Frankly, it's ridiculous. But he's looking around and he,
• 24:00
  oh, sorry, Sarah. Him says something along those lines is the best
• 24:06
  I've got for the name though, like ghost rap noise. Florian says the
• 24:14
  hollow hollow fruit. I think, oh right, right right, okay,
• 24:19
  yeah, yah, yeah, I forgot about that, Gus says. So
• 24:25
  she has negative hollows and mini hollows. The mini hollows work like remote bombs,
• 24:30
  which she can detonate by saying rap and snapping her fingers. I'm not
• 24:33
  sure where the rap comes from, but that seems like it could be,
• 24:37
  right, Okay. So this is when he zeros in on the room and
• 24:45
  he starts to realize, oh, okay, I think I've figured this out,
• 24:51
  and he says, I've figured out your your trick. Barona is not
• 24:56
  hearing him, and she says, you know, what are your left words?

  Something like that until she sees that he is aiming his slingshot to the
• 25:04
  room and he does special attack Atlas comment, which is a weird one.

  He shoots this one missile, it splits into four and then for a second
• 25:22
  you see this like bug that has four prongs and I'm assuming that it's like
• 25:26
  an Atlas beetle or something, and that's why it's called Atlas attack. But
• 25:33
  it hits the door and blows it up, and then you see Parona who
• 25:38
  is just kneeling on her bed, apparently unconscious, and the spirit of Perona
• 25:48
  is looking on all of this in horror because she really thought she had this
• 25:52
  sewn up, and now all of a sudden, it seems like he has
• 25:55
  figured out absolutely everything. So the next episode we start with him like about
• 26:03
  to shoot at her her body that is not like, you know, and
• 26:11
  she realizes what it is. You know that he's figured out, and he
• 26:15
  shoots at her, but it apparently misses, and you guys, can I
• 26:23
  who else's heart sank? I should have known better? I really should but
• 26:30
  I genuinely was like, oh my god, did he just miss? Come
• 26:34
  on, man, like I should have known better. I'm so mad at
• 26:40
  myself. I'm so disappointed at myself. So he uses this, it doesn't
• 26:48
  appear to hit, the body is fine, and Pirona is thinking to herself,
• 26:55
  well you didn't miss what that was still way too close, and she
• 27:02
  takes aim at Us up with the special Hollow, which is a huge ghost.
• 27:11
  I mean, the other ones had been about the size of like tennis
• 27:15
  balls. I would say, this one's about the size of like a bus,
• 27:19
  and it opens its mouth and just starts to chew on us up.
• 27:25
  And I was sort of like mad on his behalf that this thing that looks
• 27:30
  like it should be insubstantial is able to actually touch and hold him in place
• 27:36
  like this just seemed there should be some more rules. I don't know,
• 27:41
  I'm just saying. So as he's struggling Pirna her spirit goes back into her
• 27:48
  body because she wants to be able to move out of the way before he
• 27:52
  is able to attack again. But she doesn't take it seriously that she really
• 27:59
  needs to move as soon as she can. She's just so overconfident, really,
• 28:04
  you know, is what it comes down to. So we I'm gonna
• 28:11
  come back to everybody else and finished the us upthing first though, because obviously
• 28:17
  so she shoots something like attack at him and he is able to absorb it
• 28:22
  with the dial and when he does, she's sort of like, well,
• 28:30
  how did you do that? And leans forward and realizes that she can't lean
• 28:37
  actually, and we find out that the apparently missed shot from earlier was a
• 28:44
  bluff and it's a sticky star bullet. He wanted her to go back into
• 28:49
  her own body. That way, he wouldn't have to kill two of her
• 28:56
  basically or take care of two of her. As long as he was able
• 29:00
  to put them together. It would be the one battle and that would be
• 29:03
  it. So he's about to handle this and this giant ass fucking hippopotamus lieutenant
• 29:15
  Hippo gentleman appears behind him out of nowhere, and it really looks like this
• 29:22
  is gonna be what saves Pirona. But us Up when he absorbed the impact
• 29:30
  with the dial. Reminder that the dial absorbs that like kinetic power and saves
• 29:37
  it. So us Up turns around and uses that on the hippo who just
• 29:44
  goes down immediately. It turns out to kind of not be And it's like,
• 29:49
  this really felt like the dude in in Oh My God, Red Rum
• 29:56
  the Shining, that's the one, you know, the guy that it's like
• 30:00
  he works at the hotel and the kid calls asking for help, and he
• 30:06
  drives all the way up there, and it's really feeling like he's going to
• 30:10
  be able to fix things and put it right, and he walks in the
• 30:12
  door and just immediately gets conked on the head with a fucking like axe and
• 30:17
  that's the end of him. And you had all of your hopes hung on
• 30:19
  him and it was just immediate defeat. That's kind of how I felt about
• 30:26
  this hippo gentleman. He shows up, Parona is just like, oh,
• 30:30
  this is perfect timing. Thank you so much. You're gonna save my left
• 30:34
  and before he could do anything, completely wiped out. So then we get
• 30:44
  this really bizarre moment. So USAP has a first of all giant missile that
• 30:52
  he calls Special Attack Shiny Black Star, and he launches it at par It
• 31:00
  pops open and there are all of these roaches in there. Now. He
• 31:07
  says later that they aren't even real roaches, but they move, so I'm
• 31:15
  I'm really like not sure how they you know, but okay, I'll trust
• 31:19
  him, and Pirona, in a moment where I am in complete accord with
• 31:29
  her, screams her head off. You do not understand. I know I've
• 31:37
  said it before, but I will say it again. I hate bugs so
• 31:41
  much, y'all, I really do. You know? There are certain fears
• 31:47
  that are like stereotyped as being really girly fears, you know, being afraid
• 31:53
  of mice, and jumping on a chair to get away from the mouse,
• 31:56
  for instances is like such a trope that it's almost a cartoon thing. Now,
• 32:01
  I don't have that kind of fear of mice. I feel like,
• 32:05
  you know, I get it, mice. You just want the same things
• 32:07
  I want. You want somewhere warm and soft to chill out, you want
• 32:12
  some food to eat. It's hard for me to be mad at an adorable
• 32:15
  little furry mouse. A bug, though I have tried to pretend a lot
• 32:23
  of my life that bugs don't get to me, and it's a lie.
• 32:31
  The only bugs that I am pretty much okay with are spiders, and I
• 32:36
  know that they don't count as insects because they're but shut up. It's fine.
• 32:42
  I can deal with spiders because as far as I'm concerned, we're on
• 32:45
  the same side. They also want to make sure bugs are gone. They
• 32:50
  want to do it by eating them, which I can respect. Go at
• 32:52
  it, thank you for taking care of them. Any other kind of bug
• 32:58
  though, even bugs that are like allegedly cute bugs like ladybugs, they're only
• 33:07
  cute on an individual basis if you get any more than like three of them
• 33:13
  at a time. You're starting to get into the territory that I don't like.
• 33:17
  And if you get like a real crowd of them, it's truly the
• 33:22
  kind of thing that appears in my nightmares. I fucking hate them. I
• 33:30
  don't care what bug it is. There are some that are worse than others.

  But this moment with the roaches, it's a fucking cartoon, you guys.
• 33:38
  And I found myself recoiling from the screen. I know that this doesn't
• 33:44
