- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Bob Getty here almost Famous the Ogs. We are back.
- 0:09Speaker 2: We're still at the almost famously average Golf outing famously
- 0:13Speaker 2: first the first Annual. I'm assuming first annual in San Francisco.
- 0:19Speaker 2: We're kind of in San Francisco. We're outside of San Francisco,
- 0:22Speaker 2: but we're going to wine country today. We're gonna be
- 0:23Speaker 2: at wenty Vineyards.
- 0:24Speaker 3: We get to play and drink.
- 0:26Speaker 2: We get to play and drink, and I've heard they
- 0:27Speaker 2: have some great wines, so I'm very excited about that.
- 0:30Speaker 2: So I'm here with Susan Knowles from of course The
- 0:32Speaker 2: Golden Bachelor, and we have become buddies over the years.
- 0:37Speaker 4: This is not even our first time in San fran together.
- 0:39Speaker 3: But you know, I've been seeing each other for a minute.
- 0:41Speaker 4: We've been seeing each other for a hot minute. Yeah.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, But I wanted to talk to you about something
- 0:45Speaker 2: I've never asked you about. And I was so excited
- 0:47Speaker 2: when I saw you doing it and you were partner
- 0:50Speaker 2: with my friend Jenny Garth, and it was the qbcis
- 0:54Speaker 2: Quintessential Women, And tell me about it.
- 0:57Speaker 4: I want to hear.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Fifty yes, about And you know, it's funny because when
- 1:01Speaker 3: we got off the show, that was our message to
- 1:04Speaker 3: all ladies. I was really saying over sixty, but you
- 1:08Speaker 3: know there was a few under six.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Which I didn't know until last night when we were
- 1:12Speaker 4: talking about.
- 1:13Speaker 3: That point is some people feel invisible. Some people feel
- 1:17Speaker 3: like they have nothing left. They raised their kids, their grandkids,
- 1:20Speaker 3: and they're just sitting at home. There's so much out there.
- 1:25Speaker 3: And when I joined the Q fifty, it's the age
- 1:28Speaker 3: of opportunity that says it in a nutshell. So I
- 1:31Speaker 3: stayed with the same theme coming off the show and
- 1:34Speaker 3: it just fit right in. Isn't that something Jenny, It's
- 1:36Speaker 3: just a doorable.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Isn't she sweet?
- 1:38Speaker 3: Yes, she just put out her new lines, said me,
- 1:41Speaker 3: all kinds of pretty things.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Oh that's so cool.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Yeah, she's so great and I've always I've always been
- 1:46Speaker 2: I used to have the biggest crush on her of
- 1:47Speaker 2: course growing up, and then loved, you know, as I
- 1:52Speaker 2: started Actually, when Amy Sugarman started calling me to do
- 1:55Speaker 2: podcast stuff with her, I would fill in for Tory
- 1:59Speaker 2: and Jay and you know, do their nine or two
- 2:01Speaker 2: one oh stuff, and you know we're always kind of like,
- 2:03Speaker 2: you know, connecting in that regard. We had tons of
- 2:05Speaker 2: mutual friends and then, and it was just so fun
- 2:09Speaker 2: to see you out there with her.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I'm like, oh my god, I love this.
- 2:12Speaker 3: You know what I love best? Her voice. Yeah, it's
- 2:15Speaker 3: so I'm loud, I'm George, But I love talking to
- 2:19Speaker 3: her because I feel like I lower mind just a
- 2:21Speaker 3: little bit.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Well, she makes it like you're having this intimate conversation. Yes,
- 2:25Speaker 2: even if there's fifty people in the room.
- 2:26Speaker 3: It Yeah, so pretty good she is.
- 2:28Speaker 4: She's I'm happy for I am too. Well, I'm happy
- 2:31Speaker 4: for you. I thought that was such a cool honor.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yes, I mean doing a lot with QVC.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Yeah, so what else are you doing?
- 2:36Speaker 2: I mean I even read something today that have you
- 2:38Speaker 2: been doing things on air with them as well?
- 2:40Speaker 3: Now? The first one I felt like a fish out
- 2:42Speaker 3: of water. The second one, It's funny. I had a wedding. First,
- 2:46Speaker 3: I was officiating a wedding, and then we don't go
- 2:48Speaker 3: on till ten o'clock at night, So I was made up,
- 2:50Speaker 3: did a wedding outdoors. I was sweating. I get there
- 2:54Speaker 3: and they put more makeup on me, and I was like,
- 2:57Speaker 3: oh god, I saw myself on on the TV. I
- 3:00Speaker 3: was like, I looked the hot mess.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It's brutal when you feel that way, because even though
- 3:05Speaker 2: I'm sure you looked great, you can't get.
- 3:07Speaker 4: It out of your head.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You know. Yeah, I've had a couple of experiences like that,
- 3:10Speaker 2: and I started getting to the point. I had always
- 3:13Speaker 2: heard that George Clooney would only let them put powder
- 3:16Speaker 2: on him right after a while.
- 3:18Speaker 4: And so I started doing that.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I always go hold on, hold on, hold on before
- 3:21Speaker 2: you the sweat, yeah, because I don't want to look
- 3:25Speaker 2: like a clown up here. You know, I got I
- 3:27Speaker 2: got that down already. I'm already come out as a cloud.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So November tenth, there's a good day for me for
- 3:32Speaker 3: QBC is with my line?
- 3:35Speaker 4: Oh no, kidding, tell me about it. I guess are
- 3:39Speaker 4: we allowed to talk about it?
- 3:40Speaker 3: They were on Golden Bachelor, They were on the show
- 3:43Speaker 3: I just filmed that you could look for on Hulu
- 3:46Speaker 3: in January. Mimi's Meatballs.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, how exciting.
- 3:51Speaker 3: So I'm hoping I'm tasting different things right now.
- 3:55Speaker 2: And so will you be part of the whole process?
- 3:57Speaker 2: How are you going to be part of the like
- 3:59Speaker 2: you choose the ingredients? Like how how invested.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Are you going to be on this? So I had two.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I wanted them rolled because I have a bad shoulder
- 4:06Speaker 3: and I hate rolling meatballs, especially when I do my
- 4:10Speaker 3: wedding soup, I make like two hundred little meatbolls.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 4:14Speaker 3: So that was my thought. Well, I got to taste
- 4:18Speaker 3: the rolled ones. They don't look like meat, yeah, and
- 4:23Speaker 3: they were scary, but they tasted okay. Then I got
- 4:26Speaker 3: a meatball mixed the veal, beef and pork and all
- 4:28Speaker 3: my ingredients. It was way better, much more money. But
- 4:33Speaker 3: they won't roll. Okay, So I'm in the lemons.
- 4:36Speaker 2: So you're gonna figure that part out. Yeah, it's got
- 4:38Speaker 2: to be a way.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I know.
- 4:39Speaker 4: I don't figure heatballs meet.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I mean Mimi's meat really.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Come on, you know what I think on board?
- 4:47Speaker 2: You know what we'll do is we'll take the next
- 4:48Speaker 2: the next uh, you know, a crop of people and
- 4:51Speaker 2: before they can you know, get a podcast or do
- 4:53Speaker 2: tooth whitening.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Strips, they got to roll some meatballs. Or maybe I
- 4:57Speaker 4: should do laundwear one.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Of the other kids out what of the other name's loungewear?
- 5:01Speaker 2: I like about or do a combo pack and I'll
- 5:05Speaker 2: get some lounge wear and some.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I've had some fabulous, fabulous opportunities. Oh, I'm sure the
- 5:10Speaker 3: show it's been great.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Well, you know I was saying it to Kathy and
- 5:13Speaker 2: Kathy was on too, and I know you guys have
- 5:14Speaker 2: Golden hours.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Your is your podcast? Yes, yes, and.
- 5:17Speaker 2: But you guys have both had so much fun. It
- 5:19Speaker 2: had to feel really good to just have kind of
- 5:22Speaker 2: America talk back to you and.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Be like, hey, we really like you. I want to
- 5:25Speaker 4: see more of you. You know, you get some such.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Good things people say, and then you also get those
- 5:31Speaker 3: ugly things.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Oh sure, yeah, yeah, I was talking about that earlier.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I was told some great advice once and this is
- 5:37Speaker 2: it was an over piece of op advice, and she said,
- 5:41Speaker 2: you know, the people who have the negative things to
- 5:44Speaker 2: say are people who are commenting on you living your life. Right,
- 5:49Speaker 2: So like, when you think about it, how often are
- 5:51Speaker 2: you sitting at home going, man, I need to comment
- 5:54Speaker 2: on how that person's living.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Yeah, let me take three hours and trash people I'm talking.
- 5:59Speaker 4: And so you know, that's a certain point.
- 6:00Speaker 2: There's a certain blend of people that are doing it,
- 6:02Speaker 2: and they're going to do it to somebody else. So
- 6:04Speaker 2: my thought process says, hey, come at me, because I'm
- 6:06Speaker 2: strong enough to handle it.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Leave the other people alone, right, So I'll.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Share my energy. That's what this is about, too. Yeah,
- 6:11Speaker 3: I've motivated people, like it's amazing how many people write
- 6:16Speaker 3: to me and say, you know that I'm changing them.
- 6:18Speaker 3: They're shutting up, they're walking, they're doing whatever. Yeah, that's
- 6:21Speaker 3: what it's about.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Well, I like what you said about how you feel
- 6:36Speaker 2: like some people feel like they reach a certain age
- 6:37Speaker 2: and they become invisible. And you know, my mom is
- 6:41Speaker 2: seventy eight and she has always been the life of
- 6:45Speaker 2: the party, the bell of the ball.
- 6:46Speaker 4: And my dad passed away, and so.
- 6:48Speaker 3: You take after your mom.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I really did.
- 6:51Speaker 2: My dad passed away, and I've been so worried about
- 6:53Speaker 2: my mom because she's not engaging the way that she
- 6:58Speaker 2: always has in the past, and I.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Want her to d eight.
- 7:00Speaker 2: She's died, I know, I know, but she's always just
- 7:04Speaker 2: been this bundle of energy and she still has moments,
- 7:07Speaker 2: you know, And I'm always in But my sister, yeah,
- 7:11Speaker 2: we do.
- 7:11Speaker 3: A few and far between as we I feel it.
- 7:14Speaker 4: I know I feel it too. I'm fifty three, and
- 7:16Speaker 4: I feel like you have.
- 7:17Speaker 3: A little one, so that keeps you.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I got a five year on the three year old.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I got up early in the gym this morning and
- 7:21Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I gotta ge get back to
- 7:22Speaker 2: the boys.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Got up and went to the gym.
- 7:24Speaker 4: I had to work, Yeah, I had to.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Only it's a it's a new thing I'm trying to
- 7:29Speaker 2: do because I figured, you know, I was I was
- 7:31Speaker 2: fortunate enough to have these kids later in life.
- 7:34Speaker 4: But I don't. I don't want to use as an excuse.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I want to be the guy that's actually there for
- 7:38Speaker 2: them later in their lives, you know. And so I've
- 7:41Speaker 2: got to make that commitment now, which I will be honest,
- 7:44Speaker 2: I wasn't making it for many years. I was just
- 7:46Speaker 2: sort of like I played football in college. I'm in
- 7:49Speaker 2: kind of good shape. I'm just let it go.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I got on the floor and stretched this morning, so
- 7:53Speaker 3: I don't hurt myself to that.
- 7:54Speaker 4: That's not really working. Well, that's that's that's prepping. That's
- 7:58Speaker 4: prep work.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Now, do you much of you? Well this year, not
- 8:02Speaker 3: so much. I've been playing the better part of ten years. Okay,
- 8:07Speaker 3: and you know you love it. You get one good.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Shot tell it's an addictive sport.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And I can't break one hundred. I've gotten closed one
- 8:14Speaker 3: hundred for several times, one hundred and six and then
- 8:17Speaker 3: the wheels off. I've only gone twice, only nine holes twice.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I was embarrassed. I forgot everything.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Well, it is a game that if you're not, if
- 8:26Speaker 2: you're not, you have to be working on it.
- 8:28Speaker 3: You're gonna go to play at least once a week,
- 8:31Speaker 3: sometimes twice a week. And I was getting better, yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 3: and then I got busy.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Well, today's your day.
- 8:36Speaker 2: It is because you imagine if you come away with
- 8:38Speaker 2: the trophy. I'm sure that they have an amazing trophy.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I will be happy to get one.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Par Yeah, you know, managing expectations, right, I'm like, I
- 8:47Speaker 2: want a trophy.
- 8:49Speaker 4: First of all, I'm not gonna win.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I'm not gonna win the trophy because Ben will win that.
- 8:52Speaker 4: So that parts out. So maybe second place.
- 8:54Speaker 3: We were playing best ball or what are we doing?
- 8:57Speaker 4: I have a feeling this is we could drive the ball.
- 8:59Speaker 2: The structure of the entire contest I believe is up
- 9:01Speaker 2: to us.
- 9:02Speaker 4: I haven't been given a lot.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Of Wait, can I just share something? And this is
- 9:06Speaker 3: kind of embarrassing, but I think everybody will love this.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So for years when I played and I'm not a
- 9:12Speaker 3: great putter, but I get it like inches, nigga, Oh
- 9:14Speaker 3: that's a gimme. Not even inches, maybe twelve inches, that's
- 9:17Speaker 3: a gimme. I go, oh great, and I'd pick it up.
- 9:19Speaker 3: I never counted it.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Oh my god, I did not count that.
- 9:23Speaker 3: And somebody said something and they go, you don't have that.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I guess I do. That was a gimme.
- 9:27Speaker 4: She goes, what do you think a gimme is count
- 9:30Speaker 4: the show?
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so you look at the golf club right, and
- 9:33Speaker 2: where the grip of the golf club starts on your
- 9:35Speaker 2: putter right supposedly in the leather. You can take it right,
- 9:39Speaker 2: so you don't have And that's just to try and move.
- 9:40Speaker 4: On the pace of the game. But I made the
- 9:43Speaker 4: same mistake. So I would go up there.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I'd be on in three right and I'm probably gonna
- 9:48Speaker 2: two put this thing, and they go go ahead, you know,
- 9:50Speaker 2: we'll give you that. When I'm like, great, three, I'm
- 9:52Speaker 2: under three, and they're like, no, dude, you still got
- 9:56Speaker 2: to count it, like you know, we're giving.
- 9:58Speaker 4: You a one. We're counted that. I cheat it fro well,
- 10:00Speaker 4: I don't think it's intentionial.
- 10:02Speaker 2: You and I might both be guilty of that because
- 10:03Speaker 2: I don't think that that was cheating. I think that
- 10:05Speaker 2: was someone didn't instruct us on the proper picking up skills.
- 10:09Speaker 4: And then one more question about golf.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so I forget what it's called, like you have
- 10:14Speaker 3: the worst shot your first shot? Yeah, no, no, no, I'm
- 10:17Speaker 3: going to take this.
- 10:18Speaker 2: A breakfast ball, a breakfast so we do get a
- 10:21Speaker 2: breakfast ball.
- 10:21Speaker 1: We do.
- 10:22Speaker 4: I can't play without it.
- 10:23Speaker 3: How many do we get?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Well, like one per game? Yes, not per hole? Now
- 10:31Speaker 2: we go one per whole. I could like this place
- 10:33Speaker 2: on fire today. I might, I might really do something great.
- 10:35Speaker 2: But I think I think it's technically your first drive
- 10:39Speaker 2: that we all get too off that first tee because
- 10:41Speaker 2: it's the first drive.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Of the day. That's usually my best drive. Yeah, this
- 10:45Speaker 4: is the one time I don't need to drive, all right.
- 10:47Speaker 3: What's your favorite club in your What stick do you
- 10:49Speaker 3: like the best?
- 10:50Speaker 4: I'm big on my wedges.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Okay, so if I can get in and around the green,
- 10:55Speaker 2: I feel like I can actually get it done, you know,
- 10:57Speaker 2: But anywhere else.
- 10:58Speaker 4: I'm going to have a go to.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Like you in trouble, what's your go to, like, mine's
- 11:02Speaker 3: my seven iron.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Yeah, seven iron is the one.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I'm not even going to try to make it. Just
- 11:06Speaker 3: get out of the crap and get.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Back on the say, mine's probably my eight iron, Okay, Yeah,
- 11:10Speaker 2: I go to my eight iron line. Yeah, I love
- 11:13Speaker 2: my seven iron two. But I have the tendency to
- 11:15Speaker 2: skull that thing once in a while and I get
- 11:16Speaker 2: all pissed off.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Eight iron.
- 11:18Speaker 2: It's got a natural little wedge like off to it,
- 11:22Speaker 2: So I get all excited about that. Now for you,
- 11:24Speaker 2: right now with the weddings and everything else you got
- 11:26Speaker 2: going on, are you just flying all over the place?
- 11:29Speaker 4: Are you constantly on the road?
- 11:30Speaker 3: One of them are drivable. They're by me. Although I've
- 11:33Speaker 3: been invited to marry two men out in Lake Tahoe.
- 11:38Speaker 2: We were talking about this because that's where we had
- 11:40Speaker 2: that The Sugarman's Sweet, and we both had to miss
- 11:43Speaker 2: that one. So that's going to be so great. Are
- 11:45Speaker 2: you doing calendar?
- 11:46Speaker 3: Tell me way in advance so I could book this. Yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 3: and today my life. If it's not on the calendar,
- 11:52Speaker 3: it's not happening, right.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Yeah's crazy? No, Well, you know what, good things happen
- 11:56Speaker 4: to good people?
- 11:58Speaker 3: Seven I thought i'd be like easy streets.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You're ramping it up. Well, you look great. A little
- 12:06Speaker 2: birdie told me today that you're juggling. You're juggling. Uh,
- 12:12Speaker 2: you know some love interests.
- 12:13Speaker 4: I don't know. Are we talking about that on the
- 12:15Speaker 4: air today?
- 12:16Speaker 3: Can we say love you're juggling.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Some lust interests, No, some like interests. I don't know.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I dated somebody you go to dinner once in a while.
- 12:26Speaker 3: He's got some his things. I don't know.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Yeah, so you haven't.
- 12:31Speaker 3: He's relationship material.
- 12:34Speaker 4: He's hanging out material.
- 12:36Speaker 3: That's fine, and that's cool too, That's fine, but I'm open.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Okay, just making sure I don't want any of our
- 12:41Speaker 2: listeners to think you're off the market. Okay, all right,
- 12:45Speaker 2: well you heard it here first, My girl season still
- 12:48Speaker 2: on the market.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I don't want a lust relationship. They are fun, but
- 12:52Speaker 3: I just want to be in love and share my
- 12:55Speaker 3: rest of.
- 12:55Speaker 4: My life right now.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Well, I think you got a lot of chapter is
- 13:00Speaker 2: best chafter That's right. My friend, that little birdie who
- 13:04Speaker 2: told me that might read like fifty books a year sometimes,
- 13:06Speaker 2: and she, you know, she kind of knows you, so
- 13:09Speaker 2: I think she might know what she's talking about, well,
- 13:12Speaker 2: she tries.
- 13:13Speaker 3: To tell me what to do every day.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I'm sure you guys are such a you guys are
- 13:17Speaker 2: like a power cuple.
- 13:18Speaker 4: I love the two of you together.
- 13:20Speaker 2: We can fight, we can cry, we could yeah, and
- 13:22Speaker 2: then you always hogging it out and having fun. And
- 13:25Speaker 2: that's the biggest thing.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Just shut up.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That's what I loved about last night. We were all
- 13:31Speaker 2: talking too. We had all through all. We have the
- 13:33Speaker 2: three amigos up there in the show. That was all
- 13:36Speaker 2: her own she did. She's like, it's time to shine,
- 13:39Speaker 2: and she shut up. She has to learn, right, she
- 13:43Speaker 2: has to. She got to insert yourself.
- 13:44Speaker 3: If you chance with us, it's stark. We have so
- 13:48Speaker 3: much fun together.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Well, I love the whole QBC fifty thing. I'm so
