Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: And we're on this as three yards for carry.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Alfredo Arteaga.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: That is Simon Clancy.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: And there is no Chris Kaufman.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: He is on assignment, which is to say, he's doing something that requires his attention.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: So he can't be with us here early on a Thursday.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: But as always, we are brought to you by, I guess the theme of this season, 305-800-PANG.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: better business bureau accredited with an 8 plus rating your car accident personal injury specialist fast connections with trusted doctors and attorneys always ready to take your call 24 7 again that's 305 800 pain 305 800 pain speaking of pain dolphins play the bills this week so we'll talk about that in this show but i wanted to ask you a couple questions
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Simon.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: I've even been aware of all these new mock drafts that have come up because CBS dropped one today and I read it and it's a good thing I live on the first floor, you know.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: They have us taking Peter Woods and passing on Dante Moore and Caleb Downs.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: They take Peter Woods.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, we're doing a Cowboys podcast.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the worst thing they pass on out of their lease, who is the best player in the draft.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_03]: So, that is the worst.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: Interestingly though, it was done by Rand Carphone, who was the former Titans GM, and it had CJ Parker, the Clemson Edge, at number six, and based on what I've seen this
- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: sort of one and one age coming into this season, but Park is not in a very good year and be shocked because in the top 10.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_03]: Peter Woods is a really, really good player.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: And actually, Peter Woods is the guy that would most help, almost certainly most help both Kenneth Brown and Zaxila because he's very much like Christian Wilkins.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: But if you're passing on an RVL race at more than a second, so it meant those are one, more two, Simpson three, woods for Kindle's 85, Parker six, RVL-37, Caleb Downs, eight, Root and Bay 9, Caledric Folk 10.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_03]: Now folks, really interesting, two, eight, six pounds.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_03]: Raw, but my God, he's got some talent, Bane, we obviously know.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: just a human record ball down is like, I'll hammer on Reese's that Micah Parsons.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_03]: Makes with Edrick Cooper is the best young line back in the league in a bit.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: Argued with Blitzer in the league for the second hour, just talked about Parker.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, Tate is the Ohio State Studger, so you know, whether Tate comes off the boat first, whether it's Jordan Tyson, the kid at Arizona State remains to be seen and then obviously to call them out.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, that was a strange, that was a strange, that was a strange,
- 3:00[SPEAKER_03]: Pick, where was the strange pick?
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, there's a quarterback there, you know, I absolutely think, go for the best available player.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_03]: I would just say that people would base on how that board fell was not the best available player.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_03]: I also don't think, might I be going to be driving it for?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm fortunate.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's wins on the schedule.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_03]: Not starting this weekend, but I think there are wins, forthcoming on the schedule, which is a bit of a
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: which is a bit of a shame and I think you're probably at, I mean, the worst thing is that the dolphins are probably putting themselves out of the range of Arveille Rees, for example, when you look at, obviously we've got the bills, but then we've got these three game run against the commanders without Jaden Daniels, potentially without Terry McLaren, without Marshall Lettermore, the Saints who are obviously
- 3:50[SPEAKER_03]: above us in terms of draft selection and the Jets.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, after the bills go, there's a possibility that I'm going to pour the next five because they create the commanders, the saints, the Jets, the Steelers, which I'll probably lose, and then the Bengals, who probably won't have Joe Barra back by then.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_03]: So, I mean, and that just puts you in, you know, in the early teens, and I mean, that's the absolute doubt or a nightmare as well.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they could win their way out of the top five is what I'm looking at, especially against the Saints who are now the favorites, the New Orleans Saints are now the favorites to get the first overall pick, which means they would take Mendoza and Mendoza would be amendable to being there.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: If that's how it breaks down, you know, and I don't know if that's the the like the worst thing or I mean the best thing in the world because there is some it's like a whisper campaign that mendoza would not be
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, to get the number one award pick, which means that it pushes the other quarterbacks down to the jets, which will be the guys that we could pick up the pieces on, which is a mistake, which is a problem, you know what I mean?
- 5:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the interesting thing for the Saints will be, you know, what if they feel like, what if Doug and us by our stays is the offensive cool man, what if they feel like they can take Doug's son, Garrett at the top of the second round,
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: as the reason in the league in terms of his understanding of what happens pre-imposed snap, they could take the best available player to or they could deal down, pick up extra picks, take the best available player, and then take the offensive coordinate as kid, who's essentially coached in early in his career.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: You could absolutely see that as a possibility,
- 5:44[SPEAKER_03]: It obviously depends on what happens with Tyler Shark in the next, you know, eight games or over and whilst the early returns have been amazing, and that's how I've thought Spence about I was playing pretty well, early in the season.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: So, core back is obviously a need, but, you know, is it an absolute knockout, knockout the, you know, knockout the door necessity when they could take the best available player, which could be a reason, which could be a bay, etc, etc.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_03]: And then
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Let me ask you a question because I've part of my my morning routine is to go on take a stroll through Twitter and see what dolphin fans are freaking about freaking out about this morning And this morning, they were freaking out about I don't know.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: I guess it's a debate that they created amongst themselves.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Most of them were saying you got to be insane to take a safety in the top five, meaning Caleb Downs.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: I give it a long look.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think he might be the most impactful player as far as wins and losses for 2026.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: You would agree with that?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gonna be right out there.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, to me, he was the arguably the best returning player any position, including Jeremiah Smith entering 2025.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he transferred from Alabama, obviously.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: He's just an eraser and coverage.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: six one two oh six he can eliminate receivers outside and in the slot he can take tight ends over the middle he's got unbelievable instincts like he's always in the right place at the right time when he was in coverage he allowed six first hours last season his 16 games which is just amazing he knows what the ball is he's a great run defender you know he's run
- 7:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm not here for a family, his run defense grade was 88.5 or has been 88.5 since 233, which is amazing, and it's not like he's just come to the party and he was as a prep player as a sophomore, he was like the absolute thing, you know, a five-star kid in high school, just ranging, it's really hard to find
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: Oles in his game is just a complete package, the instinctive, the active, the athleticism, you know, can shut down the middle of the field, but our highest state of literally played him outside at corner, nickel, free safety, strong safety, box linebacker, edge rusher, overhang defender.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he can do all of these things, he's just an unbelievable football player, he's so explosive.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_03]: And with the right defensive coordinator who uses him at
- 8:14[SPEAKER_03]: you know, that you just weaponize that football awareness, the intelligence and just the ability to ruin games, it's just such a, he's such a whole free prospect, I think he's, you know, and I think the old friend's plans going, you don't take a safety it well, the game has changed and I do think a lot of fans think that, you know, every team just plays four minutes at the front, three
- 8:42[SPEAKER_03]: and you're trying to win by matchups.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's a matchup league and you know, the reason that Carl Hamilton is arguably pound for pound, the best player defensive player in football pretty much.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: There's, you know, a testament to that.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I haven't been a fan of Anthony Weaver, but I will be just in generous if I said that you can fire that man in good conscience at at the end of the season, which lends me to believe that may be McDonald and weaver are here next year.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think you you give him a piece like Caleb Downs to play with mink of its Patrick for a year.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's something, right?
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: You tend to agree with that, right?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like you can't, like if you ever want to hire the hot coordinator ever again, you fire Anthony Weaver at the end of the season after what you've done to that man.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: For two years.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: So we say what about Weaver, right?
- 9:41[SPEAKER_03]: But let's become completely honest.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_03]: he hasn't had many groceries, the decent grocery store, and the groceries keep getting taken out of the bag.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_03]: He's shopping at Dollar General.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: He's not shopping in the, you know, the Porsche public or whatever, and I don't know if you've got like a Marx and Spencer's equivalent, but he's not shopping at publics.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's definitely down at Dollar General.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where we've got to work with you know, look at the city.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we've talked about it all season doesn't look like a soul Douglas going to play this weekend.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, the guys that being talked about coming in are Ethan Bonner that the white hope is made like seven snaps in his entire life and it's had 6,000 injuries since it was a sample and Jason Marshall Jr. who's the fifth rap being who's been injured for most of the season.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: Don't worry, Jack Jones got to this.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: He has this.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's our back sign.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's what he's working with, you know.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_03]: And it's the fact that arguably, I mean, because pay pretty well when he's going to shoot it to the nickels pay pretty well.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_03]: But like, you can make a case of Dante Trader, the throw away 7th round pit, or whatever 6th round pit.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: As, you know, yes, there's flaws there, but he's at a bit of an impact, he's played all right.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: I've got to give away very, and I understand Lamar Jackson cut us up, but I came away very impressed with Dante Trader against the Ravens, he was flying around in that game.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the thing is, can't, is this the type of guy that can give you that consistently?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: If it gives you that consistently,
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know?
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, you can do agree, right?
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: They can apply on a good special teams player.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_03]: You're training Bob with the roster, kids.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: If he's that, he can be your third safety or fourth safety and a special and a core special teamer and that's a success for a fifth-round pick, right?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_03]: But also, also, if you have a Caleb Downs, that just frees trade rubs do the things that he's good at doing.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: Well, he's not good at doing is motioning down into the formation and having to cover Z-flow as one and one.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_03]: down.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_03]: Which is insane.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_03]: That's not what you want to do.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_03]: What you want to do and it's being an alley runner.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_03]: Box, you know, Box safety coming down here is a great tackle.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_03]: He's a very, very good tackle.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_03]: He's a, you know, he's an eliminator as a hitter.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_03]: He might have been the best pure tackleer.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_03]: in the draft.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: And a bit psychotic because he tried to take out Derrick Henry couple of times.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: What are one?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: You want him near the box, but because we just don't have the horses, he's having to do stuff that you would ordinarily give to Mink of its patch of five years, you know, or to a Caleb Downs.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: Now, you give him a Caleb Downs, and you're like, okay, we've got some, all right, so the nickels pretty much saw it.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's okay.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Mink is going to pay Mink.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_03]: We can bring Jason Marshall along a little bit and he can learn under a, you know, a former defensive player of the year, that's all right.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_03]: We're all right there.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: Then you got, okay, he got down.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_03]: So we can do anything with him.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he can be a free safety on down one down to it.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, caught up actually working around.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: He's not free safety.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_03]: Where the hell is it across is he's lying up on the edge.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_03]: Third day, he's blitzed, next next rotation, where is he now?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, he's on the nickel, Mink is where's Minko?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_03]: He's second down.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_03]: He's out outside the corner.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 12:56[SPEAKER_03]: I want to run, because he runs a four-four, so he's running down the field with Devontay Adams or whatever.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_03]: Where is he on?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, now he's playing a lineback for him.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_03]: And that just allows trader.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_03]: to do what he does best.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_03]: And it allows others to, you need those kind of building block players and as we discuss in the show Monday, you know, we've only got seven or eight of them.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_03]: And it's fine in building block players.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's the important thing to allow some of the younger guys who you think might have a chance to then just be the, you know, the, whatever the building analogy is for cement that fits around the blocks kind of things.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you need the foundation, which they have maybe half of it so far, but then you need, you need, you know, you need to start building up the studs and, you know, and then you put the finishing touches on it with with the finish, you know, and the finish should be the back end of that roster, which they haven't gotten right.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: in a millennium.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like I remember the last time that they got that part right.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_03]: And the Buffalo bills, frankly, are a team that, you know, are only a team that we played in this weekend.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_03]: Are a team that has, they don't have.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we privately and on our discord, we've demoned the fact that we said, you know, that we thought the bills missed a trick by not trading for, for the kid from, or a sheech of him from your lands.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_03]: But what they've done so well is fix the back part of that, of that roster.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like you look at that guy that Torres Achilles, the other night Michael hoped.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like what a really good solid player he was for them.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: The guy they signed, I mean, they signed a three year, 21 million dollar contract from the Rams, he was suspended, came in, played absolutely lights out for the three games, and then Paul Garchore as Achilles.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_03]: But they've just got,
- 14:41[SPEAKER_03]: They've got depth, you know what I mean?
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: You know, look at their defensive tackles, you know, Ogon Joby's a decent player, they conjoins the decent player, Jordan Phillips is a decent player.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_03]: But then they, you know, they hit, do you own the Walker out of the park in, in the second round, the kid from Kentucky, he's been brilliant.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: for them.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_03]: You know, the rotations at defensive end, they brought in Joey Bosa and he's just added to that mix.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_03]: Defensively, they really didn't miss that, you know, Matt Balano being out because Turupanard is played so well, Shack Thompson came in and they're just making, you know, they're just bringing guys in in the secondary, Max walked Max hairston at the first round and then came in and there is one in striper-styled down the field with
- 15:16[SPEAKER_03]: you know, the the fastest players that the the chiefs have got.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_03]: Xavier World.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: There were the and okay, you're bringing it in alongside a Karen Johnson who's a unbelievable nickel Christian Bemper.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_03]: He's a really good outside corner and, you know, that's the and then look at their offensive line.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_03]: They've they've literally had the same start as all season.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, and by the way, they're free to eat at the end of the rookie that we also they should drop the the the great blocking pie in Jack's horse.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_03]: He's having a great year as well.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_03]: So it's
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: No, Miami has to find their Bernard and their Benford, and they haven't done either, you know?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they have to just find that guy out of nowhere that is going to be a contributor for a very, very long time in borderline pro-bolar and all pro, in my opinion, Benford is pretty close to an all pro.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just fine good, just fine good, good players who you know that you can really like, you know, if somebody goes out on our offensive line,
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, oh, it's, well, it's been, that's the story of the season.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's not just this season though.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's historically the story of the last five, six, seven, eight years.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_03]: You know, if somebody goes out on the offensive line, then all of a sudden, you know, whoa, we've had it because Daniels has gone out, and we've had to, like, co-strange, for example.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we're in a situation where, I mean,
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, this season they had it for three three snaps, but before then they had it for two games.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: One of them was the 70-point game I can't stand for That's just that's just ridiculous Like it was My friends if I started five was played every single snap with season yeah, and they did it last year to and the year before I think they missed one game This is what happens to bad teams.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_03]: I bad teams have to Yeah, I was watching Carolina Green.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean to be fair Carolina on a five or four now, but
- 17:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think they've had 11 different offensive line-ups already this season, which is staggering.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you can see that they've had to replace people and that's not a start.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_03]: That's like having to replace people in-game.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but can Alice has done one thing like everybody looked at him like, okay, like you really want to play this style of football.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, I guess what, it works.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it's worked against everybody.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: They run the football, short play action passes.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: They don't ask Bryce Cheng to do too much.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: And they're defense keeps them in games.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they start wide receiver.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_03]: They've got to start in a second dream,
- 17:53[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so, yeah, I mean, hats off to them because I think they've done, they've done really well and to be fair, you know, they brought in, when you look at their free agency class, it's really, really good, given, especially that they swung and missed on their top target with millions, but they thought they'd signed and they went to the Patriots and just had an outstanding season.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I think that what they're doing there in Carol Arner is the right thing and Dan Morgan's had a hell of a, you know, a hell of an off season and with with doubt or, you know, had a thousand yards rushing last season and nobody was in for him, you know, like nobody was in for him and then, you know, not only the pound away against us, you didn't have to have 200 yards against us, you know, massive game the following week was it against, oh, against Dallas against his old team, he ran a little all over Green Bay.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_03]: the weekend for a hundred and thirty one yards color schoolers.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean there's good players out there but we just seem to find a way not to be able to sign them.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not an infregency and I understand people keep saying, oh, but you had these successes.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you didn't really parlay them into anything.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like you had Kaleis Campbell here for a season, you wanted to come back and you didn't want to spare an extra two million dollars to keep them.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, but for every Jordan Brooks there's like
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: that end up becoming drags on your cap and for a couple of years, and then become a mistake.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: Tyrell Dodson is their latest mistake.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: In that front seven.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_03]: Why I think it's really interesting just the labor in the point on Carolina is that, and I think it's a testament to a historically free battle in a David Tepper.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_03]: But also a testament to Dave Kamal is in that.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: they have stuck and gone the course with players who have either struggled with injury or who've just struggled with a form a little bit and two perfect examples of JC Horn who actually loved coming out of college.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: but he was he's been injured a lot and he's having a great seat as having an all pro caliber season he's a top 10 corner in the league at worst when he's healthy okay and that's testament to them just staying the course with him and not cutting him and not you know that they they worked with the injury and the second is is the left tackle the Kia Cuomo who really struggled in his first 18 months just for speed of the league and everything and now he I mean Michael Parsons went
- 20:22[SPEAKER_03]: didn't have a sync for the first game in his career, is that if a career, he did not have a single pressure on Sunday and that was because he's going one on one against the corner and he could just shut him down completely.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's testament to just being able to be confident and comfortable in, like they could have easily pulled the trigger on right shaman.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody saying that right shaman is moving the needle massively.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_03]: But what they've done is that they've moulded the offense to work for him as best they can.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, they've got a good veteran back up there in Andy Dalton, but they're, you know, they're giving young enough leash to win, but not enough leash to, to, to ruin the, the thing and they don't want you look around at some of their young players and you think if they give those young players the kind of, you know, temperate millions already a star, but you look at some of those other young players like a Jimmy Horn.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_03]: for example, like Cam Jackson, like the two edge rashes that they took Nick score on his playing really well.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_03]: Prince Lee, who my male and who I love coming out and just think will be a really good player.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_03]: If they give those guys the sort of time that you'd hope they get, they could be really really good players and this could be a really ascending team.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what the dolphins have got to try and
- 21:32[SPEAKER_03]: kind of move towards, it's just trying to find some of those players that just make the build them, you know, as good as we need the top of the roster to be, you're only as good as the the weakest link, you're only as good as the worst part of the roster, and when we're having to rotate in guys that are just, you know,
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: on most of the teams would be street free agents or whatever, or wouldn't even be on teams.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: That's a really big problem, right?
- 21:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's what arguably one of the biggest jobs for any general manager is to make them bottom of the roster.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_03]: And that's why Harry Roseman's always trading.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's always churning.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's always trying to find one better player, okay, and so as I read the better than the third running that we've got, if they trade for tank big speed, well, big speed's better than the third Gary L. So let's move the third graph and that just means running faster to bit better.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what he's doing all the time.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's just trying to find, and that's why they win.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, certain teams have the magic elixir and it seems like the eagles have that, you know, say what you want about that quarterback, but they support that quarterback.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and they have, and they went to another one, which they probably should have won as well.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: They were a James Bridebury passing a fairings call away in the other one.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: So think about it.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: They could have been a two time Super Bowl champion.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, in this era.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we're going to go to break, but before we do, let me tell you about

- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: and we are back.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of the Buffalo Bills and we're going to talk about the Buffalo Bills exclusively in the second half of this show.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: Mike McDaniel and two of the talk about, oh, I had said some revealing things about their history with the Buffalo Bills because it includes a lot of heartbreak, some absolute dumb-founding decisions against them.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: So this will be the latest chapter.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: But we kind of talked about it a little bit.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: Do you get the feeling that the Buffalo Bills might have missed an opportunity?
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I understand, yeah, they beat the crap out of the Kansas City Chiefs, although the Kansas City Chiefs made a serious run at them in the second half.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's ominous that Patrick Mahomes played his worst game in four years, maybe.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: And they were a touchdown away at the end of that game.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I did not like the bill standing pat and I think something like Rashid, somebody that stretched the field for Josh Allen would have made that team a much more dangerous because every team tends to play them the same way, they don't respect those receivers on the outside, they don't respect the deep third and when you have a guy like Josh Allen, you should be respecting the deep third.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I don't know.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: Your thoughts.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like what they did.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it puts them in a position to be favorites to win it all in the AFC.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, your thoughts on what the Buffalo bills did not do at the deadline.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, we touched that on the first off, I think, you know, the kids from the Saints were doing perfect for them.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_03]: I did think they paid very well against the, against the chiefs and the, and the, the victory gap should have been wider than it was.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_03]: I think, you know, the, they, they missed a bit.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: They claimed to feel a lot of the outright.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_03]: to make it a 10.0 and then the cheese converted that 4th and 67 or whatever it was, but I think the roasters, what I like about them is that they are
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: consistently doing the things that work for them and then obviously found a really good thing with James Cook and, you know, just keep feeding the the stud that you've got, I mean, he's got 867 yards Russian already this season almost six yards per carry and he's absolutely flying and that to me is the recipe for success because I think that they're struggling a bit at receiver, I think he on column one is kind of that that.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: race has been run.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_03]: I think for Coleman, but they're starting to get some some work out of kind of three.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: Well, too, I suppose, kind of forgotten guys in Elijah Moore is kind of booted around the league a little bit and he was a second-round figure of the jet, so I think he's been a cleaving as well.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_03]: And then Curtis Samuel, obviously, who we all liked and was at Washington.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: Josh Palmer's beginning to step up and play for him, that the charges receive the kid out of Tennessee.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_03]: And obviously, Kaleel Shakira does great work from the slot, so there's certainly got the talent to move the ball up and down the field.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_03]: I think Josh has been really good this season.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he's been the same level as last year.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_03]: But what I think that they do, I think
- 28:40[SPEAKER_03]: And for me, when you're trying to look at a team that can potentially go to the Super, how many of the offensive boxes can they tick, right?
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: How good is the court about, well, okay, that's a tick, right?
- 28:50[SPEAKER_03]: How good is the running back?
- 28:51[SPEAKER_03]: Well, again, he's got A106, 70 yards.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_03]: He's a top five at worst back in the league.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_03]: He's got good hands out of the backfield, and he can pass for takes.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: So two out of five, tick, tick.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_03]: Receivers is probably the one way you're like, yeah, but they do, they're deep and they can do different things.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of half a tick for me.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_03]: But then you throw in the two, well, really the three times, not skincaidin horse.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's a massive tick.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: And I think when you add those into the mix with the current, with the receivers,
- 29:23[SPEAKER_03]: that you know you kind of there and then the offensive line well that's as we're discussing in the first half the excellent and they play every snap so that's a massive tick so at worst it's four and a half ticks out of five without offense and then defensively again they lost hope they lost um Ed Oliver they lost Taylor rap on the back end but I think was being huge for them Joey Bosers been massive for them they're getting they're better against they were awful against the run early on the season without I think they'd got better so
- 29:51[SPEAKER_03]: And I think part of the fact that they've got better is down to much better play because I thought earlier on their safety's rule for what I think Cole Bishop has played much better in a second half of the first half of the season in that make sense.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I think they're just getting healthier and healthier on the outside.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_03]: Hirst and coming in is big for them.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_03]: So I think they're
- 30:13[SPEAKER_03]: They've got to be seen as a super-profit with me, I see.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_03]: All be it, and I very congested, I see.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: And even looking at the Baltimore Ravens, I would not rule the Ravens out of being in strong super-al-contention no matter their record at the moment, because they've got their, they've got their stud caught like vacuum.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_03]: As we saw to our detriment last Thursday, they put a spanking on a team that just put a spanking on the falcon, so yeah, I think they're a good team.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen that.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure if they could enough back in there.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're pretty good.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: My concern is when you have a guy like Josh Allen, man, trying to play offense with no chance for explosives, like when you get close that.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: If your explosives are 30 yard gains by your tight ends, those are not explosives.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: Those are just busted coverage.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there has to be the threat.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: When you have a guy who can throw it through a brick wall, there has to be the threat that he can uncork within 60 yards because your safety is just can't get deep enough.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know?
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I know it's John Brown.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like, who gives a crap about John Brown?
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: but go look at those bills' offenses when they didn't have as good of an offensive line and they didn't have a James Cook, but they had a group of receivers around Josh Allen.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_00]: Those offenses were scary.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: where you can hold them down for a quarter, a quarter and a half.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: And boom, there goes a 50 art touched on right over your heads, because you just can't cover 60 yards of territory every single time on every single snap.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my concern with them, that they don't have that explosive element.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: And if they had it, I think it's game over in the AFC.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's just my opinion.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think it's not about talent with them on defense because I don't think they're most talented defense.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: They have like three really, really, really good players and a few others that are desirable players on pretty much any team, but they're they're not a superstar late in defense.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: But they they're sound, you know.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's more coach.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well coached sound, they're not going to do stupid things.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's much more talent to defenses that do stupid things and what teams I think in the air say yes that's the interesting thing yeah, you know, so speaking of the series McDaniel and to a spoke about it
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: and they both came to, I guess, a realization, and it seems to track, although they've lost games when they haven't lost the turnover battle, when they had a neutral turnover differential against the Buffalo Bills, but they seem to have a neck, like they don't tend to get blown up by the Bills too much.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe twice in the last six meetings, but they always seem to make it to that fourth quarter.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: And when they make it to that fourth quarter, the bills make all the plays.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: Miami makes none.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: Magdaniel boiled it down to the turnover battle.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: That if we lose the turnover battle to the Buffalo bills, we're going to lose.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: That seems to check out in a lot of these games that they've lost by one score.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: to a kind of echoed the same thing, although he talked about making plays earlier in the game and not making bad decisions late.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: So he essentially took blame for the last one.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: What did you make of the disparity between those two these two teams?
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because evidently the disparity elsewhere is wide because they beat a lot more teams that Miami can't beat, but head to head
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like Miami could be in, on even footing with this team over the last four years, but they're just not.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: Where do you make the difference in this series the last four years?
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's going to be, it's going to be cool about playing coaching.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that, that means the very simple answer.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's just a, there's just a much more
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: team on all factors than we are.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_03]: And that's the bare bones of it.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that we've got big moments wrong and they've got big moments right and no, they've not want to super well.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_03]: But.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_03]: the pieces are pretty much there and the stability.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_03]: And it all starts with the, you know, it all starts with what the coaches do through the week and it starts with the, the stud core back and doing a Sunday and that's, that's the difference and a, and a great core back hides a lot of hills and we, we all know that.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and four of the losses to the Buffalo bills, I looked up where were the moment where, where was the moment where they lost the game.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: five point lead, they drive for a field goal, a touchdown, pretty much wins that game.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: They settle for a field goal.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: They go up eight.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: Here comes the comeback.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: And that comeback attempt from the Buffalo Bills, the dolphins got the ball once, got the ball back once.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: They punted.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: We've sent him the theme here.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: In 2023, the second half, they hold a, well, they had a lead.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: possessions while tied, resulted in no point.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_00]: So everything keeps boiling down to what they what they do in the fourth quarter against the Buffalo bills, where if they create a touchdown anywhere, you're probably doing something against the bills in 2024 in Buffalo again.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: They forced the title, late in the game, they give up the, it's not a pass in the firm.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a, I just say roughness on Jordan Poir.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, he's starting on Sunday.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're going to get any, any modicum of revenge, do it on Sunday because Jordan Poir is going to be out there.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: And in that game, they play evenly pretty much for the entire game, except for that turnover differential.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what killed them.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: they had a play to make that would have won them the game when they'd buy the ball up in the air and the Sean hand can't find the football.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: So it's one of those things where it's the fourth quarter.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like they play this team evenly for the most part and could have played them to kind of a standstill over the last four years until they get to the fourth quarter and they just don't make the play and I tend to agree with you.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's partly the quarterback, but it's mostly the
- 36:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, do they have the right philosophy going forward?
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have the right players.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_00]: We know that.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: But do they have the right philosophy going forward to stop this team?
- 37:05[SPEAKER_03]: Jim, do you have the right philosophy?
- 37:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, on defense.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_03]: They're out of the right philosophy at all.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think that was made patently clear on Tuesday at the trade deadline, it was clear there's no philosophy.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_03]: What's the plan now, it's not meant to be a rhetorical question, but kind of is, but what is the plan?
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: There is no plan.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_03]: There you go then.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_03]: There's not a plan as to what we are as an organization, how the health could to be a plan to overhaul the Buffalo bills.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's obviously the biggest issue when they're interviewing general managers is, what is your, that would be my first biggest and potentially only question.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_03]: What is your plan?
- 37:45[SPEAKER_03]: What is your macro
- 37:53[SPEAKER_03]: What where have you worked, what who have you talked to where the plans work and what is the difference between the plans that you see being successful and what we have here and have had here and that hasn't worked.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_03]: What is it that works and what is it that doesn't work.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_03]: What is the plan?
- 38:13[SPEAKER_03]: because less somebody can implement something from data on the job.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_03]: Then we're just gonna continue to be a laughing stock and that's what we are.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_03]: That's what we have.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm gonna ask you to put yourself into their shoes.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think Mike McDaniel sees when he sees this series?
- 38:28[SPEAKER_00]: Because we kind of know, like we heard what they said at the podium.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: Mike McDaniel hearted on turnover differential.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we're not even footing with the bills over the last four years.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: Turn over differential, turn over differential.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: To a tongue about Aloha said, we're failing to make that play.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: So he kind of put it on himself, late in the game, but we got to make plays earlier in the game to grab leads.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: So he's kind of putting it somehow on itself.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think they see when they look at it, when they look at this series against the Buffalo Bills?
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: Because the Buffalo Bills almost seemed like, if we're tied, you know, like you heard the term, if we're even, we're leaving.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_00]: The bills got to feel like, man, as long as we're tied, but as long as we're not down three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, we got this because they were tied, they're doing something stupid in the fourth quarter.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think the Dolphin C in this series that's keeping them off of being on even footing with the Buffalo bills?
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: A talent?
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: So you think that they, they look at the talent, you think that everybody's looking at their talent and saying that's what's keeping them away.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think they look at it.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_03]: I just think that there's a, there's a mentality.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_03]: There's a mindset.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: There's a, this team is better than us.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_03]: We are weaker than them.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_03]: There's a, we know that we're going to fold because that's what we always do.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I'm at, and then tell our mentality isn't a tool.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_03]: You can, you know, it's a cliche, but cliche.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's only cliche because it's right, it happens over and over and over again.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_03]: we talk about the one game where we beat them in our place in week two three seasons ago with the mean with two a pat and Josh Allen the head.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_03]: Look how fans have gone to town over that as if that we want the Super Bowl.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's week two, that's week two, like, let's be serious.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was week three, but what a hell of a week three.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: What a hell of a two week, Simon.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, what a wow.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we beat the ravens and the bills in back to back weeks.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, look what happened.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, heavy days, man.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_00]: Heavy days.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: Those are what great days.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_00]: What a great pair of weeks, right?
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: What a great time we have.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then of course, two has that concussion or back injury against the bills.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's all been kind of downhill from there, huh?
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: But one of two weeks, man, like you can't you can't beat those two weeks.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: Those two weeks featured it all.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: You'd be two winning teams on the road, two playoff teams on the road, one on the road, one at home.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: Your arch nemesis at home.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, with a great defensive performance.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_00]: People forget, we had our hands two hands on the football five times against Josh Allen.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: They played really well.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen had 400 yards passing, but he threw it 8,000 times.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: And to hold that offense to 19 points after they had like a billion plays, and Miami only had 31, that's doing something.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's been a long time since then.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I wonder what they look at.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder what they look at and say, okay, this is the difference because really like if you aren't even footing with them,
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: They have a division title and they have an extra playoff birth against, you know, in the three, in the first three years of Mike McDaniel's tenure and it's all different, but you can't face your rival and just have them dominate you for four years.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's just, and I understand, and people talk about it all the time and I know I'm going a little long on this, people talk about it all the time off.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: If you're drafting to beat a team in your division, you're doing it wrong.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, I completely disagree.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_00]: I completely disagree.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you get dominated by one team in your division, you're screwed.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: Because in this league, you do not get home playoff games if you don't win your division.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if you get dominated by one team in your division, you're not winning no division.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we're about to dominate by two teams in our division.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_03]: Well, when they've got, you know, probably the second best player in the league in the first half of this season, uh, at quarterback, it's pretty hard to, uh, it's pretty odd to, uh, it's pretty odd to see where that's going to happen.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_03]: But, and they've got a hell of a head coach.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, well, we're Chelsea.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: I have plenty of hope against the, the pitch.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they aren't.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, the, the worry is that,
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: They got a lake all that now and that yeah, yeah, they're young But they kind of blew their wad in free agency this past season and for what for Milton Williams and a few guys that are probably not gonna be there going forward Well, William's playing outstanding.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's got like he's a really really good player
- 43:16[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they've got good players all the way around.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_03]: That's the concern and you like what are they seven and two?
- 43:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they lead the division.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_00]: They lead the division.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, they've got a bunch of guys that receive a bunch of guys that's hired.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think they play Kent State and Georgia Southern the next two weeks.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_00]: So if we somehow pull something off against the bills, we're going to be doing what we couldn't do for four years.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be handing the division to somebody else.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_03]: The scheme is working for them, you know?
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: They're very well coached.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like say what you want about my variable.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like his team's happy philosophy.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_03]: And like the field coach.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_03]: They're not really, you know, they're not like flush with unbelievable players.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_03]: But good coaching.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_03]: Outways.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: you know, excuse me, all of those things.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_03]: And they've got, you know, they've got good young players, candles playing really well, maize playing really well, they get a Henderson ball, the chism kids playing well at receiver, you know, they've got players, make it, they've got Gonzalez, healthy, carton, Davis's playing well.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_03]: Jalen Hawkins is absolutely like, Jalen Hawkins might be the best, you know, young, free safety.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_03]: uh... one of the best younger free safeties in the in the league of the moment like he's playing at the kind of jailing petri level and the car hammer level of absolutely as mister the car they just got wavers so well they got wavers two years ago so but yeah yeah uh... we will see going forward on them one last thing before we pick this game
- 44:51[SPEAKER_00]: Mike McDaniel revealed that it was him, ran in short and that makes sense, ran in short because Brandon's short has, he has the, he has the financials that is disposable, a disposal and he's actually really, really good at his job.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_00]: So it was him, ran in short and champ Kelly, the handled, the, the trade deadline.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_00]: Marvel now and conspicuous by his absence.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: Does that tell you kind of all you need to know like,
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: Champ Kelly is probably for long here under the next general manager.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: And Marvin Allen is not.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I, you know, I in Champ Kelly will get a shot at the job.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I think Marvin Allen is is done essentially.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and I think that was obvious when when Champ Kelly leapfrog the assistant general manager
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I get the feeling that the next general manager like champ Kelly is here on a promise that if you don't get the job, you're going to get the the personnel job under the new general manager.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I can see a situation where maybe Halleby gets the job and champ Kelly is the assistant to him.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's in the Marvin Allen role, but hey man, it doesn't help you when your first job description is.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: The draft, and form, and formulating the board in every draft, and that's been the downfall for this thing.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: How do you keep your job that way if you're more of an Allen?
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: It also doesn't help that they have two empty drafts, but those two empty drafts were because of a tiring kill trade.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: Good trade.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: I still maintain it's a good trade.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_00]: And a Bradley Tubtrade, awful trade.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like that was an absolute unmitigated disaster.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_03]: But the problem is, they've got to, you know, they still have pecs, and they blew all of them off of my channel.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_03]: you know, and that's the problem because we talked about it often, you know, the kid they got from Caroline, I was, I was supposed to be the replacement for exciting how that the lineback was, you know, tender was supposed to be there, but you know, the replacement was, you know, as a camera was supposed to be and they just couldn't come in and that's what we talked about on the show, just like replacing bottom parts of the roster and making sure that,
- 47:12[SPEAKER_03]: as a camera, Tinder, they should all be on the roster now and being solid contributors, not stars, but contributors.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_03]: You know, every week you can rely on them, make a big special teams tackle, make a pick, you know, make a big catch on the third down, you know, all those things, and then not even on the roster.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_03]: And that's the problem.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and between the Bradley Chub trade and the tampering investigation, they lost two first rompix of fourth rompix and a third rompix.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's a big deal.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot of damage on a tampering investigation, which as it turns out, the whole world knew about it.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, to the point where Cal Shanahan is quoted as saying, oh, Mike is not getting that job because that's
- 47:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: So that's how badly you fucked this up in the last three years.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_00]: So you had a shot, you blew it, you got fired, and now they're going to reorganize the whole thing under you.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I really do believe that's what we're seeing.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Champ Kelly's probably going to have that personal job, which is Martin Allen's old job.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: and the general manager will oversee it all, and we shall see who that is.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: The athletic catalyst, the list has pretty much everybody who we thought would be on that list, and they put Alex Hallaby at number one on their list in as far as the desire ability.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_00]: So I tend to agree on that.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's pick this game.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_00]: The bills are 11 and a half point favorites.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_00]: One thing you can count on is maybe test a cover, but they tend to cover
- 48:51[SPEAKER_00]: They'll cover, they're at home, bills might have that, um, that let down after playing really, really well against the chiefs, and they'll just run out the clock on us in the fourth quarter.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be a game for three quarters and the inevitable will happen once again, big game from James Cook, I believe.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_00]: And the bills when, let's call it right on the cusp of that number.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: Bills 31, Dolphins 1T, which means the cover by half of the point.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: So bills by 11, with that.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I have 30, 20 to the bills.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_03]: So we're pretty much the same.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so there's going to be some excitement for three quarters.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's some.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then something's happening.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_00]: Trust me when I tell you something is happening.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well, by the way, this is going way off the reservation, but tonight it's Raiders Broncos.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_00]: I watched the Raiders play football last week for the first time and forever.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_00]: Man, where he most looks pretty damn good.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_00]: 33 years old.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_00]: How the hell is he moving that fast?
- 50:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's something and Brock Bowers my god worth every penny worth the traffic I think that that's a myth now after Tyler Warren and by the way, I think my hot take is What do you think about hot take now Simon you can still shit around every one my hot take was that Tyler Warren might be the best tight end in football by the end of the season.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's not going to happen because broke Bowers would be the best tight end in football in the season.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry
- 50:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'll try to warrant my beat them in all categories on a good team.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_00]: That was the bad player.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, let's, let's have a look quickly.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: Let's, let's, let's.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_03]: Let's have a look at.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_03]: Receivingly.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_03]: It is.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: Uh.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_03]: Where are we?
- 50:56[SPEAKER_03]: Uh.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_03]: Sponsored.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_03]: Receiving.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_03]: Uh.
- 51:02[UNKNOWN]: Uh.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: So, the most cache is, and that's what we're seeing.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_03]: So, the most receptions, which is about 70 cents.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_03]: So, we've done on yards or receptions.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go receptions and...
- 51:25[SPEAKER_03]: So, the number one to tighten the league on receptions is actually Jake Ferguson, with 56.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_03]: Then it's Traymer by 52.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_03]: then it is carpets with 43 and then it's Warren and Kelsey with 42 apiece and then to chew on johns, don't shoot, hell of famine, Samdapora, to tuck a craft around again to them.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's boundless.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: I guess he's had a bad season.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_03]: He clearly has him.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and then.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_03]: So.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_00]: Warren's a 518.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_03]: Elsie's a 540.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_03]: Warren's a 580.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_03]: Craft is a 480 now.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_03]: Gadsson of 453, LaPore, for 36, can cade for 11.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the guy that we're, I mean, as soon as they see on out of the guy, the best high end of the league of season actually was the kid at Green Bay.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_03]: Braff, he was a, he was having an all-pro year, but Brian took a play.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_03]: Brian took a play.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_03]: How he touched down was leading them.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: who's lead in the league in touchdowns.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_03]: Dallas Goddard is executive in the NFL in touchdowns, touchdowns, Ferguson, Craft, McBride, the O'Juns, Wallace, Hunter Henry, Mark Andrews.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, more than one, one only has three.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: A long, long, long, long, long cancade.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: Barca, Kelsey, Fant, Rybooth.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: a little pool to borrow this Warren yeah I have an idea for the end of the season when the season's over and we're going to success all of these players to do a redraft of the first round redraws are great fun
- 53:24[SPEAKER_00]: you know, redraft like if you had to guess, they take war enough, or maybe Warren goes ahead over the over the of where Miami would have taken, I mean, it's against the defense attack but they should take the guy they should have taken is the guy they should have taken, which is well-tornable.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_00]: Let's be fair, let's be fair Simon, we had drafted Walter Nolan and he would have missed the first nine weeks on a cabin journey, we would have rioted, we would have lost our minds.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_03]: You're still the more in one Monday night game than can't have crossed on all seasons, so yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so all right We're gonna call it right there on Monday.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: We will talk about about this game if any of the dolphins are all in because they try to
- 54:05[SPEAKER_00]: So they're trying to win games, so I guess we'll judge them harshly if they get destroyed on Sunday.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: They have their first 1 o'clock game at home against the Buffalo Bills since 2022.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_00]: So that's something, here's the problem, it's like 75 degrees, it's expected for Sundays.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_00]: So we're not going to boil them off the face of the earth.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_00]: So we will talk to you again on Monday, but till then.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for listening to three yards per catty.
