- Nolan: Welcome back to the podcast ladies and gentlemen you're here with the boys of poinsai on our post credit segment post credits is the segment where go through movies, tv, entertainment, and all the good stuff in between I am your co-host Nolan Chang and with me as always is my longtime friend and co-host Jalen Holston say wassup to the crowd Jesus: What's going on crowd? We're here, we're doing it, we're rocking and rolling. Another beautiful beautiful Friday. My god. We've done a good Friday in fact! A good Friday! Nolan: Good Friday to be exact. You know, everyone's having a blessed Good Friday out there if that is your vibe. If not, welcome either way. We love you. Thanks for being here. Part of the part of the pod part of the segment. ⁓ We got a we don't actually have too many news nuggets today. We got a good grip of trailers and we're going to review invincible episode five because my gosh, ⁓ we will get to that. It's going to be spoiler heavy if you have not seen it. Jesus: This is indeed I'm Jesus Murphy. Nolan: ⁓ I hope you haven't eaten spaghetti recently. And we're also gonna get to Daredevil episodes 2 and 3 of Born Again season 2. ⁓ Before we do all that we gotta give a big shout out to our partners at Dubby Energy, our favorite energy supplement coming in powdered form, delicious flavors, beautiful little tubs whether you're gaming, doing some chores, going to the office, working out, just running some errands, whatever you need to do Dubby's got you back. Jesus: doing anything. Who knows? Nolan: So go to w.gg or the app Wenergy and use the promo code POINSOY for 10 % off your order. Not only supporting them as a business, you're supporting us as content creators and we appreciate you all for it. All right, boys, let's do it. Let's do it. ⁓ You know, starting off, you know, we like to ease into things here. ⁓ Some simple news nuggets, as we like to call it. ⁓ Jesus: Bye bye. Let's get it. Nolan: First one off the bat. We knew it was Scream 8 has apparently started to be written. ⁓ How? How? It's because the budget for these movies are so low and of course Scream 7, regardless of the critic lashing that it received this time around, ⁓ has accumulated over 200 million worldwide. That's a big thing for a horror movie of its budget. So the fact that Jesus: has it been... how? very kind way of putting it, Nolan: The seventh installment of this franchise has continued to pocket some cash, I think is the main reason why this is continuing to be written. And of course, Scream 8 is going to be written by the Zuckerman sisters, Jalen... Will this franchise ever die? Jesus: I don't think so. like, think McKenna Grace is kind of like red hot right now, so like... Shit, whatever. Just give the fran- just transition the franchise to her, I guess, at this point. and off of like the main gal's character or whatever, but... Nolan: ⁓ Whatever. Yeah. Jesus: Yeah, I mean, even the greatness that is that actress could not save Scream 7 from being just absolutely terrible across the board, it would seem. So, whatever, it made its money and more scream, we scream, and then you scream for less scream. I don't know. I don't know why are we doing this? What is, no one wants this anymore. Nolan: for cream? ⁓ that's where you were. Jesus: We showed that with Scream 7. Apparently people saw it, but they thought it was gonna be good, because the Scream 6 was okay. You know what mean? It wasn't terrible. They were like, oh cool, it's like we're going back and doing the thing. Yeah, we'll do it again. And then they got Scream 7 and we were like, did you do it with your eyes closed? How did you even? Nolan: We'll do it again. Jesus: It's like you threw a bunch of things on a dartboard and like that's how we made the movie, it seems like. They're like, we're gonna get a lot of young talent and do absolutely nothing with it in the movie. ⁓ So yeah, that's, again, I don't know why we're doing this, but hey, if you're a Scream fan, good for you. I'm glad that you get more content. ⁓ Nolan: Yes, yes. Jesus: and all that kind of stuff but yeah it's just it's a kind of a crazy one to me in a world where ⁓ you know Andrew Garfield didn't get a sequel to his movie that made money you know ⁓ Nolan: You know, there's a lot of movies out there that have made money and yet no sequel. Why? Because studios are stingy. That's all it is. Jesus: The pedifer guy, I am number four, where is my sequel to that movie? Been waiting forever. It made enough money. Didn't make a lot of money, but made enough money. Could have got a sequel. What the hell? Nolan: Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly. Yeah, exactly. I feel like this is the this is the equivalent of like going to the casino and picking the the simple, easy. I don't want to say that it's technically simple and easy. Let's say the roulette game and you're just covering most of the board because, know, you can pocket just a little bit of profit and then move on with your life. I feel like that's what Scream is doing and. You know, I can't blame him. Win is a win. Do what you gotta do. Movies still need to be made. Theaters still need to have things to view. So, more power to you, but I'm not exactly clamoring for another sequel, if ever again. So, we'll see how this one turns out with the Zuckerman sisters helming the writing. Let us know what you think in the comments down below. Next News Nugget. John Hannah. the brother Jonathan of Rachel Weisz's character Evelyn in the original ⁓ Mummy franchise is returning. Now this is obviously a very small one, very simple, but I think it bodes well for the fact that they're doing this kind of... ⁓ Do we call it a revival? You know? A revival of this fran... or just a sequel? Just a sequel, I guess. ⁓ It's not a soft reboot. Jesus: I guess a soft reboot, so to speak. Kind of, maybe. I don't know. Nolan: I we're getting the gang back together, Rachel Weisz, Brandon Fraser, John Hannah now. ⁓ you know, this'll be... Yeah. Yeah. This is genius! Yes. Jesus: Right, right. That's the big one for me that Brendan Fraser wanted to come back to it. So that's why I'm in. I'm in for this. This is how, this makes sense. This is cool. Cause it's like enough time has passed, you know? Versus what we just talked about where it's like, why? Why are you doing this? You know? Nolan: why why why to be fair the last installment that featured Jet Li was not necessarily the box office hit that they wanted it to be but no no no yeah Jesus: Nope. No it wasn't. That was... one of the movies of all time. Nolan: Yeah, one of the movies, one of the movies. ⁓ But we have John Hannah returning as part of the family. This movie is going to be releasing on May 19th, 2028. So we still got almost a little over two years away, things to get polished up. Maybe we're going to see like a crazy Brendan Fraser old man ripped back at it. Who knows? I don't know. We'll see what he decides to do. Maybe he's going to go for the kind of the the I'm old, I don't need to be in shape, I just love my wife and stuff. But Jen, what do you think about how this is looking thus far for this sequel? Jesus: If everybody's coming back, let's do it. You know what mean? There's nothing wrong with getting a cast that has worked together for a long time, has great chemistry back on screen. Ten out ten. Do it every time. Great job. Ten out ten. Like, you ain't gotta convince me of nothing. This is gonna be great. ⁓ But I will say they do have to kind of make up for the film that we all, we just both talked about, the last one that he did where they were all kind of together with Jet Li and that one was like... That one was pretty... Pretty rough. Pretty not great to end the trilogy, so... Nolan: Divisive. Divisive to say the least. Yeah. Jesus: Hopefully this one does better. That's all I can say. I think this part of Brendan Fraser's life now too, he's probably gonna be on the back end more, like producing and writing, like in the, like probably involved more in the story, because he was just kind of the young actor back then, So that's probably why I'm more into it. I highly doubt he can come into this project and not have any kind of say with like basically his franchise. Like people think of the money, they think of Brendan Fraser, so yeah, you know? Nolan: Yeah, maybe this will be Yeah, I think that'd be true. Factual. Yeah. You know, I mean, you know, maybe, the Mummy 3 with Jet Li is gonna be the Tokyo Drift. of Moby franchise. and then number four kind of gets the people back into it just like Fast and the Furious did that where they kind of rebooted it into Paul Walker's character again, know, same vibe. They're bringing Brendan Fraser back in the whole fan bam. It could be, could be successful. And I'm actually looking forward to see where this goes. But yeah, let us know down in the comments below what you think of John Hannah returning as Jonathan, the brother of Evelyn, who is the wife of Brendan Fraser. Let us know down in the comments below. Next news nugget. Vaught Rising. Now we are on the doorstep of season five, the final season for the boys. ⁓ Jensen Ackles is returning as Soldier Boy in the final season as well, but they are, I think they just finished the first season or wrapping the first production of Vaught Rising, which will star Jensen Ackles as well as a couple other characters that we've known throughout the boys. ⁓ guess you could say lore yeah yeah they're going back in time this is I want to say this is the 50s maybe 60s ⁓ Jesus: Throw them back in time for this one in case anyone was wondering. This is a prequel series. Yeah. But it's a prequel series to everything we have now. So we're probably going to get a lot of cool answers to things that we had questions about. Nolan: Yes. Yes, exactly. And we've discussed in the past, they did the boys, they did Gen V to kind of alternate seasons each year for releasing. We don't know exactly if Gen V is going to have another season come out, but Vaught Rising has also come out saying that this will be with the intention of multiple seasons. ⁓ Which is fair, you know, they, if it, let's say it is the, I forgot what is, 50s to 60s, forgive me everybody, but they got decades to work with before, you know, ⁓ Soulja Boy gets put on ice, if you will. ⁓ So, my biggest question to you, we know that this is gonna be made with the intention of multiple seasons. Are we gonna get another spinoff or is it gonna be Gen V that's gonna come back with another sequel season? Jesus: I would probably bank more on Gen V if we can... because I think they're tying into a lot of the stuff that's happening in Season 5 anyway, so I think there's probably just gonna be a good chunk of story to do afterwards. I can wrap all that stuff up and then lead them on wherever the world kind of currently could be post the boys Season 5. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: depending on what happens, obviously. don't know the very outlines of what's going down. People are definitely dying in season five, that is for sure. ⁓ But I think it's probably more likely that we get another Gen, like one last Gen V season before we get a different kind of route on another show after with these two going on. So yeah, I think that's probably where my bet would lean is like, we're definitely gonna get at least one more season's worth of Gen V. Nolan: People gon' die, that's what's gonna happen. Jesus: almost kind of done. Like we got into the stuff with her being this like special project that could have killed Homelander and all this kind of stuff the last season of Gen V. I'm you know, that's where my money is. I feel like it's gotta, it's gotta be, it's gotta be. ⁓ Nolan: She may still be the one to kill Homunanda. I don't know if it would be the best payoff to have her do the final blow. It's gotta be a starlight or... Butcher. It's gotta be Butcher actually. ⁓ Jesus: Nah, it's gotta be it's gotta be butcher. It's gotta be butcher. Butcher's gotta die killing Homelander. Like that's the only payoff that makes any amount of sense in this universe for me as a fan. ⁓ And that's, you know, if that ends up not being the case, that'd be it. But I just, narratively, I feel like that's what this has all been climaxing to anyway. Like despite him trying to be a better father, despite him trying to be, you know, less abrasive and appreciating his teammates more and all that kind of stuff, like at the end of the day, his mission is still his mission. Like he wants to fucking kill Homelander. Like that's, like that is, that is it. That is it for Butcher. So that's, I feel like the only logical conclusion this comes to, maybe she helps him do that. Nolan: Mm-hmm. No, that's true. Jesus: for sure, but I think he dies in pursuit of dying or killing Homelander at the end of season five for sure. Which then, I think opens the door for her character to kind of go through some ramifications into like one more season of Gen V and really wrap up like anything else that would be left, I feel like, ⁓ from that regard. So, yeah. Nolan: Yeah. Obviously Jensen Ackles' is returning for this final season. They're gonna jump back to probably his, I guess you could say his origins, if you will. Do you think that it's gonna be set up where they're gonna somehow kill Soldier Boy in season five and then just kind of rewind it so that you can see how he got to who he was and where he was? Or is he gonna be left alive at the end of the season just to explore the new world? Jesus: Yeah, I could see I could see both routes. I think a route where he's left alive post a homelander would be interesting for sure. Because he's going to be like super racist. He's like the meme of like what Captain America should be. So I think that would be an interesting kind of like character thing to kind of play with and explore for sure. ⁓ But also the other end of it, if you just kill him, then we still have this show, which we could get like, you know, four or five seasons out of. ⁓ get to explore the character that way. I'd be fine either way. I'd probably lean more towards leaving him alive though at the end of season five and having him kind of explore the world currently. To give us a nice juxtaposition to what we've gotten from the MCU with Steve for the last, you know, 10, 15 years. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Do see a world where he becomes like, let's say they decided to continue Gen V, where he becomes the next villain for that season? Jesus: That would be cool. That would be very cool. I could get down with that. Kind like a ⁓ US agent type beat. Like he's just very like, kind of like super racist but also has the serum so like, this is what's going down right now. Kind of stuff. Right, that kind of stuff. I think that would be very cool. He has no idea how to run a school at all. That'd be great. ⁓ But yeah, that's kind of where I would lean towards, for sure. Nolan: Mmm. I'm gonna run Godolkin University now. He has no idea how to run a school though. ⁓ but yeah. Right on. Well, I'm excited to see what he does in this upcoming season, the final season of The Boys, because like I mentioned before, I'm a big Supernatural fan. It's going to be a return of him, Jared Padalecki, Amisha Collins, all the main trio from that show. So I think it's going to be cool to see if they interact altogether for this one. Let us know down in the comments below what you think about Vought Rising being multiple seasons. And are you looking forward to The Boys final season? Last news nugget we got, Jalen. Told you it was a short news nugget list today. Star Wars TV show renewed for season 2 at Disney Plus. Now I didn't put the show there but I think we know which one of we're talking about. It's mall Shadowlord has been renewed for season 2. Ahead of its release ⁓ coming soon actually I want to say it's yeah they already approved it for season 2. The first season is releasing on the 6th so that is coming next week early next week. ⁓ Jesus: God damn. That's a good sign. Very good sign, people. Nolan: Jen what do think about this? Now we've talked about this last time when we reviewed the first trailer for it. Now that they're moving forward with the season 2, does that kind of indicate to you who's our Star Wars ⁓ connoisseur if you will? Does that kind of indicate where they may enter this season and leave this season before they move on to the next one? Jesus: Monday. I mean they might try to catch him up to like the Ahsoka era timeline somewhere and like maybe we go Thrawn. That seems to very popular right now with their like current slate of villains. ⁓ I guess somewhere in there in that- Nolan: So like Clone Wars or Rebels or is that? Mm-hmm. Jesus: Yeah, I mean, this one obviously it has to be pretty close to when Ahsoka literally leaves the Jedi Order and starts becoming Ahsoka the Grey or whatever before we see her in her show in Clone Wars Rebels, that kind of era. So, ⁓ if anything, if he doesn't deal with him in this season, we'll probably deal with Thrawn post this season, because I feel like they want to keep digging the well with that. Nolan: Mm. Jesus: villain because that's supposed to be like most of the content for the next season of Ahsoka and some other stuff moving forward so like feel like that's where they could go with it if not i'll definitely just deal with the emperor and i love the back end stuff of that that's always that's always fun because the emperor had so many different things going on at the time whenever he finally got his plan realized and started taking over the galaxy and the Empire was very, very interestingly structured, I will say, at that time. yeah, it just tells me that there's definitely not a ⁓ final boss type of deal that we're gonna see in the first season. But I'm pretty sure they're probably building to something like that moving into season two. So, very cool. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Now my follow up question is Disney is able to protect themselves a little bit here. One, it is a Star Wars IP so that already kind of gives it a little bit more credit to its name. But two, it is an animation which means there isn't as much Jesus: always. Nolan: I don't feel like there's as much risk in already announcing a season 2 as opposed to doing a live action show where it's like, ⁓ yeah we're doing season 2 unless they knew for a fact that season 1 was an absolute banger. This one we are getting season 2 announced before the release of season 1, which doesn't necessarily tell me that they have something cooking for sure with season 1, but more so they just already have the intention of making multiple seasons for this timeline. What are your thoughts on that? Jesus: I mean... I kind of might be going the other way. think it's a better sign than anything else, because like putting anything out Star Wars right now is like a coin flip on whether or not people are going to really enjoy it. I think because of how toxic the fan base is, seeing that they want to release a season two instantly before the first season is even dropped will at least get some confidence in the fan base of being like, OK, well, this show is probably pretty good. Like, it's at least got to be decent enough if Sam Witwer is involved, if they've already renewed it for season two. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: ⁓ I still have my reservations about Dave Filoni being kind of the new head of stuff. ⁓ Because realistically he gave us like Clone Wars and Rebels, right? But then we also... Nolan: The head. Yeah. Jesus: Like he gave us like one and half good seasons of Mandalorian. And a lot of the stuff since then has been kind of mediocre. So like, I'm not here to just watch him do rebel stuff for the next 20 years of Star Wars. I want to see new things. I want to see new galaxies. I want to new timelines. I want to see the Old Republic. I want to see more stuff like Andor where we're dealing with like kind of the gangsters and like the ⁓ drug traffic rings that exist and all that kind of stuff. ⁓ Nolan: Explore the galaxy. political landscape. Jesus: There's some very like hard-r stuff that they could do with sex trafficking if they wanted to with the Twi'Laks and all that kind of stuff if they want to get into that. Like there's a lot of range for Star Wars to kind of go in that I don't think Dave Filoni creatively would be willing to go in into. He'll keep it very like just kind of bland. So we'll see. Maybe I'll be wrong, but maybe I'll be wrong. Nolan: Mm. Remember everyone, if you didn't hear, he was not a fan of the Andor Show. You know what mean? Like, that doesn't tell me good things. That doesn't tell me good things, right? Jesus: That's my problem with him. It's going to be so copypasta from the George era of Star Wars and how that content felt watching it, that that is going to, for me as a fan, be really not okay to deal with. Because I get that Star Wars is for kids, but it's also been around for 50, 40 years at this point. There's content for everybody in Star Wars, and we can make content for everybody in Star Wars. It's not hard to advertise something that is like, this is an adult show for... Nolan: Mm-hmm. Let's be real, Star Wars was not originally made to be a kids show, was meant to be just a fantasy epic. Jesus: It wasn't. It wasn't, but... Yeah, just the kids took on to it and now they try to make that as if it was this kind of intention with the brand and even George himself always says that kind of stuff. But I think Dave Filoni sees it the other way because he was a kid that watched Star Wars and all that kind of stuff. So, like I said, have my reservations about Dave. I don't have any reservations on Sam Witwer, though. That is a guy that both creatively understands a lot of these characters from where George made them and also like his own fandom of just like being a nerd about it to where Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: I am going to ride the high that if they've already renewed for a season two and Sam Witwer was as involved as he was in doing this character that really is his on the voiceover side, ⁓ that it's going to be a very good show. And I can't wait to go kind of check it out and see what's going on. Nolan: Let us know what you guys think about the announcement of Season 2 of Maul, Shadowlord, just before the release on April 6th of Season 1. We'll probably dive into it when we can. ⁓ I will be out town for most of April, but... Jesus: ⁓ I'll dive into it right now. You ain't gonna wait. I'm consume it! Nolan: Alright, ⁓ let us know what you guys think. That'll do it for our news nuggets this week, we're gonna dive into some trailer reviews as well as our episode reviews for Invincible and Daredevil Born Again but first trailer off the rip… Swapped! Now the only reason I bring this one up is it is an animated film going to Netflix which already kinda gives me some pause but… Jesus: I need it. That's right. Cute. Very cute. Nolan: I say some animation from Netflix has been kinda bangerish so I'm not gonna… but to add to it, the reason why I'm also very excited about this is because now it is starring Academy Award winning actor Michael B. Jordan ⁓ as well as Juno Temple Jesus: just saying, they've made a couple pretty good ones, I'm just saying. They're not great, but they're like, good. Right, gets to have that tab now. Isn't that amazing? Nolan: There's about two woodland creatures as you can see here in the still. One bird, one... gopher... prairie dog... furry thing? ⁓ Jesus: Go for a mixed mixed thing. I don't know that this is like a real like it feels like it's still a fantasy thing. Like it's not like we're not like taking Falcons and like a squirrel. Like it's like a very much it's still got its own kind of universe at least from the look of the trailer. Nolan: Yeah, yeah, it's not... Yeah. Yeah. Of course it's two enemies, the bird of course trying to eat the little woodland creature. They get into a little bit of a tussle and somehow end up swapping bodies. And it's their adventure on how to, you know, reclaim their lives, independence, and the, you know, the shenanigans that happen thus from it. Jaden, what'd you think of the trailer? Jesus: It's a cute trailer man like good for Michael B Jordan go get a paycheck real quick make a movie for the kids and then Get back to doing whatever you want to do kind of be that's just how I felt when I got done was like that's cute You made me the paycheck real quick one. He wanted to clearly do a project. That was just for some kids I feel like a lot of his stuff has been so serious lately. It was probably just a nice like kind of break from ⁓ all the other stuff that was more heavy like sinners and all that so ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: Yeah, I think this is kind of that was my immediate takeaway from the trailer, but it's cute. It's fun. I'm sure if you got kids, this is a good one. You can just throw on and I'm sure that Michael B. Jordan will be just fine. He's not a voice actor, so don't expect a whole lot. But ⁓ other than that, it's going to be pretty fun, I would say it looks like from top down. ⁓ animation look beautiful. ⁓ lot of this stuff nowadays can be done really efficiently now and also just I think there's a lot of different techniques with animation now that make it look really good. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: and all that kind of stuff. So it's always impressive to me whenever any of these kinds of films get made because it's just like, it takes so long to get it to look so good. Whether it's from Weta, whether it's from Pixar and Disney, like all the other stuff, like it doesn't matter what it is really. I'm always kind of impressed with like when it's a full CGI, like fantasy-ish kind of deal. ⁓ And it's a lot of good art being put on screen, so. Nolan: Yeah, this will also be starring Tracy Morgan and Cedric the Entertainer. Junotemple, if you guys don't know her by name, she is the actress from Ted Lasso. Just so that those who are unaware, she's also been on the plethora of other things that were fantastic as well. This will be releasing May 1st of this year. So be on the lookout. Let us know what you think of the trailer down in the comments below. Next trailer for review. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: Backrooms now we did that teaser a couple weeks ago Remember guys, this is the film based off of the I think viral shorts maybe a game ⁓ and it is being directed by Kane Parsons who is a mere 20 years old ⁓ Starring Chihuahua edgy for yeah This trailer took me for a loop. ⁓ It's about obviously Jesus: Looks like he's doing well. Nolan: you know, not to beat the nail on the head. Back rooms that are discovered in the back of our furniture store. I know! ⁓ But it seems like something more sinister is happening as the rooms are Jesus: WHAT?! Kidding. Nolan: essentially never-ending, changing, morphing to their own design, their own life entity. And Chulto Edgeyfur is kind of just discovering it, trying to bring people into it, discover and figure out what is going on in these back rooms. ⁓ Jesus: You figure it out. You figure it out. Nolan: This for 8.24, the trailer itself was actually very intense. ⁓ The fact you got someone like Chiwetel on this film tells me that there's a lot of faith in what they're doing with it. ⁓ Jalen, you saw the trailer, what did you think of this? Jesus: Well, first of all, clearly this is tied into the Avengers doomsday. I don't know if you saw some of the clips ⁓ Doctor Strange does make an appearance in the trailer 100 % confirmed. There's a portal there. You just don't see it and Nolan: Okay, all right, all right. Okay. We're gonna get cancelled. Jaylen, stop it. Jesus: Um, no, it was good. It was very much it's a again You still have more questions than anything else and like you leave the trailer very curious about what's gonna happen in the movie Which is what a trailer is supposed to do So good on this little 20 year old guy 20 year old director getting his big shot also like what a career risk for Chuito Echeveru to do this movie with this young So clearly I feel like if he was willing to sign on this kid must have had he must have been cooking for real So this script is probably Nolan: Yeah. His pitch meeting must have been like... He's like, look, I would take a shot if I could, but I'm not old enough yet, so, but here's my idea. Jesus: It's so good. ⁓ Here's what I got going on. Okay, here's what's gonna happen. Just gonna happen. ⁓ Yeah, so again that just tells me clearly there is a very good vision for what the film is and how you're supposed to feel when you watch it. It's very tense trailer, ⁓ very suspenseful trailer, not very like horror gothy, but definitely it has a lot of those elevated pulse moments where you're gonna be like, you know. Nolan: Now, if we just... Jesus: as the stuff is going on, which is fun, I think, when you get those kinds of indie movies like this. Nolan: Yeah. Yeah, not a lot of big names in it other than Chiwetel. There is Lukita Maxwell who I believe if I'm, yep, I am correct. She is in Shrinking as Jason Segel's daughter, which I'm also watching right now. If you guys have not watched it, it's quite wonderful, season three. ⁓ But yeah, this film looks super exciting. I'm actually... It's got me hyped enough where like, you I could go to the theater for this one. You know, I'm just that much curious to see how this turns out. This will be releasing May 29th of this year. So it is coming soon. Hopefully we get some more details on it. Maybe we'll get some ⁓ like reviews before the week the week it comes out and we'll know if it's worth going to see. Let us know down in the comments below what you thought of this trailer. Next trailer review. Masters of the universe the second trailer now this one gives a lot more detail a Couple things done pack. He knows about Eternia He's he's been understanding of why he left and how he had to escape and he's been living out his life here on earth ⁓ We got a lot more information from how not information but have more scope of what Eternia looks like I was a little kind of up and down with the The CGI, but that's just a nitpick, it could be cleaned up by the time the movie releases. It also could just be something from, it's a trailer, you're at low quality, maybe on the big screen it's gonna look even better. We get more from Idris Elba's character, Man of Arms. ⁓ And of course we get Skeletor. Now, I did wanna bring this up because we got Jared Leto with Skeletor. Obviously it doesn't look like Jared Leto. And it doesn't sound like the cartoon Skeletor, which I'm very happy about, because I think that would have taken me out of the movies so much. So much. ⁓ Jesus: Agreed, because that voice is very, very specific. like, when you hear it, it would have just like kind of not worked. I mean, Jared Leto's cooking right now with this character. I think it's going to be fine. Nolan: Yeah. Look, say what you guys want about Jared Leto. He is a phenomenal actor, okay? You know, maybe he picks... Maybe he goes over the top and shoots for the moon when he doesn't need to. He goes for a dunk when it should just be a layup. But here we are, okay? ⁓ But Jalen, let me know what you thought of this second trailer. Jesus: Like, he can make a character work, you know what I mean? Sure. Yeah. Again, just, think the, when we do the whole premise of like, I was in the real world, but now I gotta go back to the fantasy world, you're setting yourself up for disaster a lot, instead of just like, just being in the universe as goofy as outlandish as it is, we don't need to like, set the world in like, reality, like it's fucking He-Man, you know what mean? Just fucking make the He-Man movie. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: without the whole like I'm a lost kid that is in the real world and I have to go back to the fantasy world to save it and take my kingdom back and blah blah blah for the sake of narrative. Other than that it looks fun. Definitely one that like if I have like a free day to go check out I'm gonna go try to take it out in theaters because the visuals look pretty cool. ⁓ All the characters look pretty close to the 80s cartoon. I was pretty impressed ⁓ and a lot of the action sequences still look pretty solid. Couple bits where it's like is that Nolan: Hehe. Mm-hmm. Jesus: AI is this real like what's going on ⁓ but other than that it looked pretty pretty solid all the way around but fun trailer that's for sure it's definitely it's not lacking the fun factor that is he man masters the universe for sure Nolan: Look, Nicholas Galatstein, he got yoked. He put on some mass for this film. So ⁓ he was working. He was working. ⁓ But yeah, you know, I think that this has all the opportunity to be a fantastic ⁓ blockbuster for the movie sphere right now. ⁓ Do I think that this is going to be any sort of Oscar winning film? Jesus: Yeah, boy hit the gym, okay? He's out here. Like, we're doing it. Like, good lord. Nolan: No, but you got great bunch of people in this film. got Marina Bakarin, Idris Elba, Nicholas Galatine, Alison Brie, Kristen Wiig, Jared Leto. This is a fun, fun cast. I'm actually very, very excited to see how this all turns out. ⁓ This will be releasing on June 5th, so it is in the summer blockbuster season. ⁓ I'm very excited. I think that this could be another fantasy epic that we've been waiting for, one that can bring the the corny gist of what the original cartoon was into more of a modern, more serious but fun tone. ⁓ I'm very excited. I thought this was a fantastic second trailer to follow up. It gave me more details of what the movie is going to be about. We got some look into Jared Leto's villain. We got a little bit more look into He-Man himself. ⁓ I'm digging it. I'm digging it. But let us know down in the comments below what you guys thought of the Masters of the Universe trailer too. Jesus: Mm-hmm. you Nolan: Last trailer review, we know we gotta finish off with Chilin's favorite, of course. ⁓ Supergirl! Trailer 2! Or full trailer, I guess, I don't know. I'll start off before you get into your prance. ⁓ Jesus: Damn it. ⁓ that's the official trailer. I mean, it's whatever man. Like, get it going. Go ahead. Do your thing. Nolan: Ahahaha! Look. I'm not a big fan of what I'm seeing. ⁓ I'm with you guys. not gonna sugarcoat it. I'm not gonna lie. ⁓ I've been a big supporter of James Gunn because I want to give him the benefit of the doubt as he's diving into this new world with DC. He is an avid comic book fan. Not necessarily that translates to being an avid or great movie director for comic book films, but nonetheless. ⁓ Jesus: Yeah ⁓ lord. Nolan: I was not a huge fan of Superman, it was watchable, for me at least. I'm not gonna say that it was my favorite iteration of Superman, was there a lot left on the table for me? Yes. Did I like the Supergirl cameo? Sure, she brought some fun drunken dits to it, you know? Am I a fan of Millie Alcock? Yes, she's a fantastic actress. Am I a fan of Jason Momoa coming in as Lobo? Yes, cause it's perfect casting for that. Jesus: loved her in the movie. It's beautiful casting. Can't go wrong there. Nolan: But that being said... Why is this the follow-up film? ⁓ It is a very copypasta of Guardians of Galaxy environment. I don't know if I need that for this universe. wanna, you know, if they were doing this film and it was kind of completely different tone with Millie Alcock as Supergirl, you know, I think I'd be digging it a lot more. I think I'd be much more looking forward to what this film could actually bring to the DC universe. ⁓ But it just seems... Kind of weird. Crypto gets shot with some sort of poison dart. She has three days to find an antidote. Jesus: Also, why are we putting the dog in jeopardy? What is it with Hollywood and trying to attack the dogs? Nolan: What did he do? What did he do? Yeah, yeah. I mean, this isn't John Wick. This isn't John Wick. Come on. ⁓ but yeah. Jesus: Leave the dogs alone. Now that kind of super girl movie I could have gotten. Nolan: You healed my dog! Jesus: Just like a pure rage like you tried to kill my fucking dog, bro. Slaughtering all of you in the name of Krypton. Nolan: Damn. Riddle me that. Jesus: Like, think about that movie for a second. Anybody? Anyone hop on that train? Go check that one out. I got you. Nolan: ⁓ Now I did want to ask you are you familiar because from my understanding this is someone from the from the Comics the girl in the still that we have here on screen Ruthie Mary Knoll Jesus: She is in the Woman of Tomorrow set of graphic novel run. So she is a character that Kara does get to deal with. And really what she is is just kind of like ⁓ a soundboardish, almost like a mirror to everything that Kara's doing and makes her kind of understand why. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: She can't just like abandon the trauma that she has of losing her whole planet to Brainiac and all that kind of stuff. well, mean, Krypton exploded, but Kara specifically, her like area of Krypton that she grew up in was ⁓ taken by Brainiac and put into like his little ball spear thing and whatever. That's what you see in the trailer, ⁓ So before any of that, she was already on the Nolan: ⁓ Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Look, what I'll say to this is... Jesus: out and all that good stuff. Nolan: ⁓ gotcha, okay. What I'll say to this is, they have a very interesting opportunity to make this kind of like the first Captain Marvel film. Where it was kind of this girl empowerment film, having fun, doing her thing, beating up the bad guys, that'll be great. Jesus: Mm. Nolan: But I feel like they dove too much into that for the trailers. Like if there's a good chunk of this film where it's more emotional and there's despair because they're going to show the flashbacks of Krypton being destroyed. You know, I'm here for it. I think that is a great kind of plot point that you're going to incorporate into this film. you got to like, you got to dive into it. You can't just kind of be like, yeah, Krypton was destroyed, but I'm drunk right now. So let's get this party started. I don't know. I just, didn't. Jesus: I just, yeah, I don't know. I think there's probably gonna be a good chunk where we're gonna see the fall of her home part of Krypton and whatnot, and we're gonna see that for sure. ⁓ Nolan: It didn't wet my whistle. Jesus: But again, it's more of like you said, I don't like that we're just dressing it as a Guardians movie with Supergirl in it. It should have just been what the comic was and more space adventure than just like Guardians 5. there's like she can run into all these characters, but like all the shots and stuff. Like if you go look at that one woman of tomorrow run, is like the art didn't translate to the film. Whoever like the cinematographer was really didn't get that level of scope that that book has because it's very much a story about Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: dealing with a lot of that stuff and she's not a super positive person she is a she is a person that is dealing with ⁓ all the the hurt and the anger and the the the angst of just not having anybody ⁓ despite Kal-El, her cousin, trying his best to like be that support system for her and be that person to remind her that like, you have like the house of El on your chest, bro. Like this family is not, you know, tied to any one place or person. It is like, it is a belief of being able to do good for people. So like, kind of getting her to embrace that role as a hero too is what Kal-El's for. But again, it's kind of hard to buy that when I don't buy the original Superman. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: Anyway, like I don't buy that he should be a fucking hero. You know what mean? Like he's not great. ⁓ Which was like when she came into the movie, was like, you know, I'm not a fan of obviously gone on a hundred different rants about why the James Gunn Superman is terrible. ⁓ But I was willing to give him like a benefit of that with Kara because we really haven't ever had a real Supergirl film ever outside of the 70s, right? Like it was not... like she just never got to that zeitgeist. And should it have been maybe explored with Sasa? Probably. A lot. Because she was the only watchable part of that movie. Yeah. Nolan: Yeah. Because of that, that rage in this film could have actually amplified some things. Jesus: That could have been fun, I feel like. ⁓ But, you know, I think that was the plan at some point with ⁓ Henry Cavill's Superman because that was alluded to in both of his movies that Kara was there and we just never got to see her on screen yet. ⁓ And I think the opportunity here might have been dropped, or the ball might have been dropped with Milly Alcock, even though she's fantastic actress and I love her as Kara right now. I just, don't know that this movie is going to serve her as the character in a way that's going to be productive for like just the overall building of this universe. Like what's going to happen? She's going come to Earth after this big adventure and just be all smiley and doodly and hang out with her cousin? what, like there needs to be some kind of driving thing that makes sense for her on this journey of her Nolan: Hmph. Yeah. Jesus: self and self discovery and all that kind of stuff. Nolan: If we're being real, she can't come back to earth. Like what you telling me that you're going to be able to write a film, any film that takes place on earth, where the villain can take two supermans on? There's no world where that's like she's so the film will probably end with her being like, I'm going to go do my own thing. Cool. Done. But Jesus: No. Right. Nolan: I'm really hoping that what we saw in the trailer was really the only kind of ditzy parts of the film and that it is more on the tone that you're looking for, like dealing with that that pain and the anger and everything like that. I hope that is the bulk of the film because I think that's going to be much more necessary if they want this this plot to succeed. But that's just me. Jesus: And the action needs to hit, because I feel like this was... Like, the action scenes look like they were kind of choreographed by somebody who's never seen any kind of... Or done any kind of comic book superhero stuff before. With a super girl type hero. Like... It just... I don't know. It's very... A lot of weird stuff. I like that they're showing off some of the martial arts that you do get trained on in Krypton. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. ⁓ okay. Jesus: at Krypton which is kind of cool. Kryptonians can throw hands. It's never really shown that much. Henry Cavill's did it a little bit. It's kind of a Muay Thai elbow up thing but there is a specific ⁓ fighting style that you do get taught while ⁓ you're... growing up on Krypton that doesn't get shown a lot outside of the sci-fi show and now this. So very cool to see that. Big fan of that kind of stuff. And she will be without her powers for a good chunk of this film, I believe, because she's going to be in solar systems that don't have the right kind of radiation to power her up. So it was cool to see that she can take care of herself like that. Nolan: the yeah. Yeah, because if I remember correctly, like, she can only get drunk by not being in Yellow Sun. Yeah. Jesus: You gotta go to a planet with a red sun where you don't, you know, feel those effects and there's plenty of those in the galaxy and whatever when she's off doing her galavanting. So yeah, that's kind of her main MO right now. Nolan: Well we'll find out as we get closer to this film. is releasing on June 26th of this year so it is in the blockbuster season. ⁓ You know, let's finger cross that it turns out to be better than you know how we've been discussing it. We don't want movies to fail ladies and gentlemen but we do want things to be better than they appear so far. So let us know what you guys think. Okay, new movie on next time. ⁓ Jesus: Don't let him lie to you. I want James Gunn to fail on every possible metric. ⁓ Nolan: Moving on to our first episodic review of the week, Daredevil Born Again, episodes 2 and 3. Look, a couple things that I want to give a shout out to Jalen for. He brought in the idea that, you know, Dr. Glenn is kind of peeking into being the next Muse, which is a comic book accurate thing, you know? You know it, you know, it's, it's, she's, she's get- Jesus: I mean, come on man. Come on. It's looking like it. Nolan: She's getting really ⁓ William Defoe Green Goblin right now, you know what mean? Where it's just like, hears the voices and this... Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Just looking at that mask all the time, seeing him around. It's getting a little eerie. That's all. That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. Nolan: Also, Karen's going down a dark corner, you know what mean? She just murdered some dude just in cold blood and then BOOM and Daredevil just looked at her like, did you just kill this dude? But yeah, there's a lot to unpack. A couple things in the background, Wilson Fisk obviously is angry about these viral Jesus: What the hell she's going like full CIA like black ops agent Yes, Matt, she did. Nolan: guerrilla warfare videos that are mimicking him from BB. ⁓ I forgot his name. The young Tony Soprano, ⁓ he obviously knows who's kind of behind it, but he doesn't know. But he's kind of like, I don't know. He's plain dumb, but I think he's aware of what's going on. There seems to be this weird Jesus: Yep. Nolan: Mirror, I guess you could say of the anti vigilante task force of Some current climates in the real world just putting that out there. Oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Jesus: You mean the ICE agents? Yeah. It's very on the nose this season. It's very topical. And like, this stuff was kind of, I can't remember when they started shooting, but clearly like they... saw the writing on the wall with a lot of this stuff and like I don't know if it was just divine intervention that that is how the season ended up going down but like all that stuff really picked up I think by the time they were done shooting so clearly this was already like in the forefront of their minds but it is just very topical right now that this show happens to be talking about that kind of thing and we're seeing it. ⁓ So yeah you get a lot of that in episode two a lot of that in episode three. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: I'd say probably more so a little bit in two than three, but three guys are very, very cool. Like, end sequence, we'll get to it in a bit. But yeah, it's very much on the nose with the, I hate people making fun of me, I'm the kingpin, I'm wang-wang baby, cry baby man, until all those other things. We also see him training and murder his boxing instructor, which is kinda crazy. Nolan: Mm-hmm. for like a for like a viral thing like a viral fighting match I don't know if it's a charity whatever yeah also big shout out to episode 3 now I don't know if they the way the cinematographers set it up it seems like a one-shot but there was a lot of zooming in and like rotating as they were going so I wouldn't be surprised if they etched things together yeah during the re- Jesus: whatever yeah that was kind of crazy I think it's supposed to feel like a one shot, but I very much doubt it was an actual one shot. But yeah, it feels like it though. Nolan: During the release of all the vigilante captives, they were doing ⁓ that cool fight scene with him and the swordsman, they were releasing and saving everyone, I thought that was a complete banger. They were just going crazy with everything. ⁓ Jalen, any other big standouts that you wanted to talk about with these two episodes? Jesus: Captives. Yeah. Right. Incredible. Incredible scene. I did want to talk about, I think, the Karen progression that we're seeing here, because I feel like, again, we're lovey-dovey, we're back together, but I think we're going to start splitting again, because very clearly, Karen's going to get it done type of beat. Matt is still he's definitely darker this season. He's definitely more Batman, but he's not he's still not willing to always cross that line like, you know, that's always his his final nail in the coffin is just i'm not Killing people like i'm just not doing it even though it's like for the love of god like this makes no sense to leave this person alive Like pray to your catholic god ask for that 5 000. Hail marys get over it. Just fucking put him out um and karen, know in that sequence just like she sees an opportunity drops down below Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: the truck, pop pop, dead. And I'm like, hell yeah, Karen, good for you. Like, way to go, girl. And like, Matt is just like, befounded or whatever. And ⁓ I think this season did make me kind of frustrated that we we don't have ⁓ Jon Bernthal, because I feel like this season specifically would have been so much more interesting to see these two characters deal with not only the the vigilante task force wearing that Punisher logo and like how he's going to try to deal with all that kind Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: stuff. ⁓ But also like what Frank's take on that kind of thing and the government doing to a set of people that don't deserve it. And then juxtaposition that to Matt and how he wants to handle things through, you know, always through the court of law and there's, you know, hope in the justice system even though there really isn't because everything has bought and paid for already. ⁓ I think that would have been much more interesting than just bringing back Karen Page, ⁓ in my humble opinion. But I'm glad to see that she is there. She's doing great in the role. That's just my only like little nitpick of what is clearly just... We knew this going in, that because it's the writers from the five episodes that we loved the most from season one, and the showrunners from the five episodes that made the most sense in season one... ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: that holy shit this show was going be so much better. And it really is. There's a lot of layers to all the things the characters are doing. Kristen's court scene was phenomenal. That was awesome to see her kind of try and do that, even though we all knew the outcome and how that was going to go down ⁓ from the get-go. But it was cool to kind of see them try to flip a little bit of that around and make that happen in that courtroom scene with her. ⁓ I think she's also going to possibly die. Nolan: Kirsten? Jesus: I think that ⁓ would be like if we're trying to kind of nitpick and get rid of new characters and keep it back to the... you know? ⁓ The move with Cherry was cool. Glad he didn't actually eat it. I would have been very sad and unwell if my boy Cherry ate one right there. ⁓ You're correct. Like that's my dog right there. Glad to see that he didn't die. ⁓ Nolan: the OGs. Gotcha. So they keep Cherry alive then and then kill her? Jerry now! Jesus: And I'm also glad to see that a lot more people are starting to kind of be fed up with the vigilante task force guys and fighting back and you see like the heart of New York really start to come alive. The Fisk Jr. guy, like he is very interesting character ⁓ and he got some good character beats I felt like in episodes two and three. Nolan: Yeah. Jesus: I think when he's doing that dinner with BB, you can see like how much like even if you would have even if we let's say had a scenario where Fisk died, there's basically a baby Fisk right there, like willing to do some really kind of background shady shit to get stuff done. ⁓ Nolan: to make those happy. Jesus: Yeah, to make those people happier, quotes. And you can tell he is definitely fully in the rabbit hole and not seeing what reality is happening because he's taking care. He's himself a little penthouse. He got to about nothing. He got money. He got all this stuff. So like, God, if it's taking care of me, man, you're doing great. ⁓ It's basically how his brain is working. ⁓ Nolan: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jesus: So that is interesting when you get to see him and BB do all their scenes together. Because there's also that weird layer of like they are kind of into each other. They're like as more than friends thing. So it's a very weird but very interesting, I think, thing to watch play with these characters in these two episodes. Nolan: It's like I love you, but I can't love you because you're the enemy. Jesus: Right, yeah, so it's like one of those types of things. I'm glad they released these two episodes together. I do. think it was good that... Yeah, for sure. Like, they build off of each other really well, I felt like. And I feel like... Nolan: I number two alone would have been like, ⁓ that was a fall off, but like two and three kind of pushing it to get, I get it. ⁓ But that means some good news for, that means some good news for each episode after this. mean, it's gotta be like bang, bang, bang, bang. Jesus: Exactly, exactly. How do you feel about the pacing of some of the episodes though? As I feel like maybe we are saving a lot of the budget for... the end of the season, because some of the episodes it feels like, if Madden is supposed to be like full-time Daredevil a lot, I feel like I should have seen a lot more action scenes with Daredevil, because it feels like it's like one set piece per episode almost. Like it's like the boat in the first one, in episode two, is a little like ⁓ break-in quick like two second scene, and then it was the cage scene in episode three. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Daredevil, yeah. Yeah. the cage scene. I'm not I'm not the biggest fan. Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan because it does feel like a lot of exposition, I would say. ⁓ Not saying that that. Yeah, not saying that I don't like the exposition that they're providing me. But I do get what you're saying. Because, you know, it was it was one of the specials going to bring up, you know, is one of those things where we get into episode two, we get this this ⁓ cathedral kind of like, weird. Jesus: So it just kind of feels like we're heading that direction. We are building early, so. Nolan: confession moment for Bullseye and then that's it, we don't seem for the rest of episode 2 or 3 and it's like well okay then you just set up something so huge in the end of episode 1 with this dude and now we're gonna have to wait for that. But yeah I mean it does feel like they gotta decide between the two. are you gonna give us Matt Murdock and Daredevil so that at least we get some fun lawyering with Matt Murdock in the off season of Daredevil and then we get the Daredevil fights or are you gonna give us all Daredevil all the time? Because it does feel like maybe they did save the budget a bit so they didn't have to do that so they can go for like one set piece each episode but I don't know if I want to wait for that. I know if it's going to pick up more. The first season did. The first season was able to kind of hone around some things, different scenes in each episode. So maybe that's going to come. Maybe that maybe the added effect of a new muse entering the playing field and then, you know, ATF. Jesus: That's where I'm at. Nolan: ⁓ AV- wait, AVTF agents. That could be a fight scene and then fighting somewhere else. I'm assuming the next episode is going to be the charity boxing match, so that's probably going to be ideally the fight scene for one of them and then maybe they'll do a daredevil scene. ⁓ But I do want them to kind of pick up the pace a little bit. There's still great episodes though. Still great episodes. Jesus: I would agree. would agree. Fantastic show, fantastic, ⁓ definite upgrade from season one. But again, they're falling into the trap that was always my critique with the Netflix show. He's not Batman. Like, Matt Murdock is still just as much important to Daredevil as Daredevil is to Matt Murdock. Like, have very much a ⁓ balance and a sync relationship. And how the comics have always gone is that, you know, Matt's ability to be a lawyer is always what informs him about going out as Daredevil and getting Nolan: Mm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: evidence to help those cases. Like that is kind of always been the circular draw. Now obviously as the comics go on, more fantastical things happen and we do get a little bit less of the lawyer by day and vigilante by night aesthetic. But I think when you're starting a show or when you're doing a show and you're going to revitalize a character, I think you can't just cut out the part about him being a lawyer. I think that's mistake number one. And I felt like that's what season one did really well was like I really enjoyed like watching an SVU show. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: and then getting into superhero vigilante drama. Like that's what the show should go back and forth between. ⁓ But you know, it is what it is. Interesting to see how they wrap it up for sure. Nolan: Also, ⁓ No, that is true, yeah. I am looking forward to see what the relationship with him and... I always mispronounce the name, but Swordsman will be, as they kind of now are both with each other. Are we just gonna bypass the idea that this is technically like quote unquote the father-in-law? Or like the stepfather of King Bishop? Where you at? Where you at? Where you at, girl? Where you at? ⁓ Jesus: Mm-hmm. Where is Hailey Steinfeld? Where are you at? Why didn't you go save your stepdad for your mom? Nolan: But nonetheless, let us know down in the comments below what you thought about episodes 2 and 3 of Daredevil Born Again Season 2. Looking forward to the next week's episode. Last review we're doing today. This was probably the one that... I was talking to my friend about it. My cheeks were clenched this whole episode. You know what mean? There was a lot. I was like, oh god. Invincible. Jesus: Wow. You Nolan: Episode 5 of Season 4. Dad is back on Earth, sees his son, lets him know we gotta go off Earth to go pretty much cut off the Viltrumites, get some things done, get some murdering. ⁓ They leave, it's him, Mark, Oliver, Alan, Alan's wife, the ship crew, ⁓ Tech Jacket, ⁓ which was a random pick up for me, I never read the... Jesus: Woo! Yep. Yep. a Nolan: comics or graphic novels so I don't know exactly how tech jacket yeah like she just shooting shooting the viltramites like pew pew pew pew like okay thank you yeah I don't know yeah I don't know why like they landed on earth is like go get tech jacket like why Jesus: seemed like really useless can we be honest like she didn't do anything like a pea shooter basically this did nothing you know what I mean I thought she was really about to pull up and start doing something and like Shorty didn't do anything, bro. Nolan: Yeah, I mean, yeah, she did nothing. ⁓ Then we get into it ⁓ and three of the Viltrumites, including Conquest, Lucan, and I forgot the name of the other one, ⁓ pull up and stop their ship. They all get into fights. They start fighting around. ⁓ Oliver almost gets his head turned into a watermelon in a hippo's mouth, know, just squeezing the lip and yeah, yeah. Jesus: He almost dies. Yes, it's fucking insane. Nolan: ⁓ Omniman is just flying around trying to help each other. Mark of course is battling Conquest and they have this great little banter back and forth. He's like, I told you that in confidence. I thought that was hilarious because he was a little bit of an emotional simp in last season's episode last fight. And then we, ⁓ we get down to the planet. ⁓ and Mark and Conquest are going at it. Jesus: Yeah, he was ⁓ Nolan: and Mark decides, you know, I'm never gonna let you breathe again and grabs on to Conquest's neck and squeezes and squeezes when in reality you should have just snapped it buddy. Like, I don't know what your thought process was. What were you thinking? His arms are free. ⁓ And then comes probably the most... Jesus: Thank you. Can we talk about what the strategy was here? Because it was terrible. Nolan: Interesting scene I've seen in any film or cartoon. ⁓ Conquest pretty much spears Mark's gut with his hand and then continues to use both hands to just pull his innards out like spaghetti spilling on the floor. ⁓ And Mark does not let go. He's still holding onto the neck. ⁓ But Jesus: It's not okay. It's not okay. Mmm. Nolan: I guess technically he wins? He wins the Jesus: I don't think it's technicality, he wins. Nolan: He wins! ⁓ The episode ends with Omniman and Oliver approaching Mark's spilled out body who's like moaning and groaning on the ground next to a what seems like a dead conquest. ⁓ Jalen, what were your thoughts on this goddamn episode? Jesus: Yes. Bro like as he kind of just kept like it just kept going i'm like for the love of god Just snap the neck mark. It's okay. You could kill this one. It's okay This is a very weird spot with like these superheroes not wanting to kill and like to the viewer to the fan you're like if you just could kill these guys, all your problems go away. Like, what do mean you're gonna feel guilty? You don't need to rationalize killing these Viltrumites from coming and murdering everybody on planet Earth, bro. Like, what is the thought here? What are we hesitating on? ⁓ I still never understood it specifically with Mark's character at this juncture, because he's already done the thing ⁓ with the villain from last season. And so we saw him struggle with it. Nolan: All of them. All of them. Jesus: early and it's always in that fear of I don't want to become Omni-Man, I don't want to become my dad, I don't want to do this and that in the third. And to me, like, in a superhero show like this, really, I can't jive with that for too long because eventually it just comes to a point, like in this episode, why doesn't he just do the, he never does this. He never does the Viltrumite thing. Just, just go win the fight. You kill all three of them. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: It's over. Because clearly he's strong enough to kill people now that are from their fully-blooded vultrimites. And so that's the part that I've never understood with this iteration of a superhero story like this. ⁓ Nolan: ⁓ yeah. Jesus: And the only part narratively that I've always kind of, get it, but it just, it's frustrating to watch is just like, dude, just kill these people and be done. Like even if you do it, like the show still continues because you still have to deal with the aftermath of you killing those people, which is just another tier of viltrumites and so on and so forth. So like a lot of that is just for, it feels like added plot when it just doesn't need to be. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: added you know and it's like that in the comics too i think a little bit because they they stay pretty true most of the time with the show and adapting so ⁓ that's the only part that was just killing me was like yeah just like i thank god i wasn't eating because i was like jesus murphy he just keeps pulling it and pulling it and pulling it and it's just it's just it's just Nolan: Yeah. I there was always that myth when we younger where were like, technically your intestines can span over the world. I'm like, no they can't, but god damn they might with Mark, I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, ⁓ my gosh. Also big shout out to Mama Grace and Debbie, the way she handled Omniman coming in there. Cause look, is there a part of me that- Jesus: I don't know. They might be close. real. Daniel Brown Queen. Nolan: Is there a part of me that wants Omni-Man to be forgiven, not welcomed back, but forgiven? Maybe. But she was letting him have it for all the right reasons and I was there for it, Jesus: Yeah. I think that was one of the most like very, very grounded scenes in this fantastical animated show. And like she performed it really well. I think the dialogue was written really well. Like the word choices were very good. ⁓ Nolan: truthful to its core. Yeah. Jesus: Because as a fan, you're sitting there kind of feeling the same thing. Like, we're on her side 100 % whenever he's coming back into the house. There's no part of me that was like, think he's going to be fully forgiven. But I do think there was this cool search of him trying to have these like real human moments with all these people that he tried to kill. And having to go through that with everybody was pretty interesting to watch for me. So I enjoyed it quite a bit. Nolan: Yeah, absolutely. Now, Jalen. Where do we go from here? ⁓ To the best of my knowledge, Adam Eve ain't coming out nowhere to help repair his body. ⁓ Brother is spilled out on the ground. Daddy and brother are staring at him. There's no medic in any foreseeable close proximity. I don't know if there's a medic on that ship that they have. What? Jesus: Yeah, I don't know. Yeeeeaaaah Nolan: How does one survive this? Jesus: and pretty grim. Well clearly he does because there's still like five or there's still some episodes left on the on the docket. He's supposed to be in them. Kind of kind of ruins the name if he dies. Which is also the irony of the show. ⁓ But yeah, I don't know how Mark is coming back from this one. The only. Nolan: And he's supposed to be invincible. For a guy called invincible, brother is... Jesus: thing I can think of is some weird like time travel portal situation's gonna happen. You know what mean? Where he just like avoids that situation or something. I don't know. I really don't. I'm grasping at straws, bro. I have no idea. ⁓ Maybe Cecil somehow put like a tracker on him last minute and then just teleports there and fixes him. I- Nolan: See so can go kick rocks man. You kept conquest alive and look what the fuck Jesus: ⁓ I'm on I'm on I'm on Cecil's side man. I get it. You see fucked over mark a lot, but like He's not wrong You know what I mean? Like he's not wrong. He's doing his job. He's He's doing his job, bro. Like I'm not like he's an asshole. Don't get me wrong I'm not the fan of Cecil but like I'm on his side with a lot of his logic cuz it's like yeah Like your job is to protect the world. Okay from intergalactic threats Nolan: He just fucked- he just fucked him over again! He just fucked him over again! Jesus: and Mark decides that he doesn't like you, yeah, you probably need a doomsday prep a little bit, okay? Nolan: ⁓ Let me just see if this... I just wanna see if there's anything we can gather from this right now. Okay, let's switch this. Let's switch this. Jesus: new technology inbound. Nolan: I just want to see what we see in the trailer. Is this it? Okay, doesn't sound very... Nope, that doesn't seem like the right one. Jesus: Probably be from Amazon or something. Nolan: this one. Also, what a shot. I was like, oh, this kid's about to get dunked on right now. Jesus: You can tell this was definitely they wanted to try to get as close to the comics as possible because the animation quality went up and then also like all the money shots looked really good. So you could tell they put the budget in for this one. Nolan: ⁓ Yeah. ⁓ God. See, he's right there, he's alive! This seems like a whole season trailer, really, I don't know. Maybe this isn't the right trailer. Maybe there is no trailer. I don't know. nonetheless. Jesus: Maybe there is no trailer. Who knows? But I don't know. I think there's a... Obviously, Mark's gonna come to life. He'll be fine. I'm ready to see the old man start throwing hands though, because he is a Viltrumite. Nolan: And if no one realized it, that is Optimus Prime, Yeah. Jesus: That is on you. Yeah, that's also Optimus Prime. So I'm ready as the Optimus Prime, get out of the chair, start throwing the hands around, which we did see a little clip of there. Yeah. But yeah, well, we shall see with Invincible, man. It's going, again, very much a slow burn. Like the first three and a I would say three and a half, because like halfway through episode three, we kind of got cooking a little bit. It was pretty slow. then, bam, we're just kind of... Nolan: I'm Optimus Prime. But, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: We're kinda here now and we're fucking getting active. Like it's going down right now. Insane, bro. Nolan: Welcome back! So, we will find out, but that'll do it for our review of Invincible Season 4, Episode 5. Looking forward to Episode 6, as long as I don't have to watch that again. Thank you guys so much, Jalen. Anything you want to say before we get going here? Jesus: Nah, I'll go watch The Pit. ⁓ It's fantastic, there's only a couple episodes left. ⁓ my god, I'm gonna go watch the latest one right now and then, yeah. It's great. I have so many things with so many of the choices, ⁓ but yes. Santos is still a bitch. I don't like you at all. Nolan: ⁓ yeah, whoo baby. It was intense. It's great. So many people. Santos, you're still a bitch. Don't like you. ⁓ But nonetheless, thank you everybody for joining us on today's segment. Thank you so much for making us a part of your day. We enjoyed having you be a part of ours. From all of us here at Poin Soi, good vibes and love everybody. Jesus: Doces.
