- 0:23Speaker 2: the new you need the new go to. I need
- 0:26Speaker 2: to hook up my rap album guy right now. Yeah,
- 0:28Speaker 2: that's what it is.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Man.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Do you feel the anticipation? Do you feel any pressure?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Nah? No pressure, just good music, bro. Yeah, that's all
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm used to doing, giving out good music.
- 0:39Speaker 2: How would you describe the album?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Uh?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Life music, bro, like shoot to live to Yeah, ain't
- 0:46Speaker 2: nothing in there.
- 0:47Speaker 1: That's there's something there for everybody. That's what I'm saying. Like,
- 0:51Speaker 1: that's why I encourage everybody listen to the whole projects.
- 0:54Speaker 1: R and B songs, pain songs, inspirational, afrobeat. You know
- 0:59Speaker 1: what I'm saying, It's something for everybody.
- 1:02Speaker 2: How old were you when you discovered this beautiful voice
- 1:06Speaker 2: of yours?
- 1:06Speaker 1: Man?
- 1:07Speaker 2: Like, when you really knew you had you had like
- 1:08Speaker 2: a unique tone and voice that was very special.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I was like I was singing when I was a
- 1:16Speaker 1: young and early at church, but like I ain't know,
- 1:20Speaker 1: like I had a unique voice to probably like high school, Okay,
- 1:26Speaker 1: my voice is getting deeper. Shit, So yeah, once you
- 1:29Speaker 1: start growing up your voice, yeah, and it was like
- 1:32Speaker 1: niggas be like then you got like a deeper voice.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It was like different, you know what I'm saying. Like
- 1:36Speaker 1: that's when I found out I had a unique voice.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And then starting to make music every day while I
- 1:41Speaker 1: was in high school, That's when I felt my sound.
- 1:44Speaker 1: That's how I realized how to use my voice in
- 1:47Speaker 1: a different way and not sound like everybody else.
- 1:50Speaker 2: For you, like, uh, you've done a great job and
- 1:53Speaker 2: pretty cool. Like I feel like a lot of artists
- 1:56Speaker 2: kind of start off as like writers and they let
- 1:59Speaker 2: that rock for like some years and then they go
- 2:02Speaker 2: the artist route. I feel like you've done that in
- 2:04Speaker 2: a quicker, quicker way, right, Because was it Chris Brown
- 2:08Speaker 2: that initially kind of gave you a shot on was
- 2:10Speaker 2: it Breezy Breezy?
- 2:11Speaker 1: I wrote Will's fall Off News right here. That was
- 2:14Speaker 1: like the first I've been writing for like a year
- 2:18Speaker 1: or two. That was like the first big placement I
- 2:21Speaker 1: got Chris Brown.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Wow, that's a fucking that's Chris Breezy.
- 2:27Speaker 1: And like that was June last year, right a month
- 2:31Speaker 1: after that guy did came out. So like before niggas
- 2:35Speaker 1: knew out, like I was a known writer. I feel
- 2:37Speaker 1: like I was seeing your name though you was seeing
- 2:40Speaker 1: my name. I was seeing your name. I was putting
- 2:41Speaker 1: some work in, but it was like it wasn't like,
- 2:45Speaker 1: oh he he a go to writer, Like this was up.
- 2:47Speaker 2: On your ship before God did. Like I remember, he
- 2:50Speaker 2: was really into your ship. Like, yo, that Friday Due
- 2:52Speaker 2: is hard because he's an engineer and a singer. Yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 2: because he's probably because he an engineer. Niggas in the
- 2:57Speaker 2: industry knew me, but the world didn't know like here
- 3:00Speaker 2: a writer, you know what I'm saying. So I got
- 3:02Speaker 2: introduced to the world as an artist. The only people
- 3:05Speaker 2: that really knew me as a writer was you know,
- 3:07Speaker 2: the engineers, like if you know you know type you know.
- 3:10Speaker 1: But I ain't never want to be no writer, bro,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I just I knew that was the way that was
- 3:14Speaker 1: kind of your way to get you in the door.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Like my manager to me, like when I met him,
- 3:20Speaker 1: he like being a songwriter might be an easier way
- 3:23Speaker 1: to get in.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I feel like it is the easiest way.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It is the easiest way because because you're.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Kind of there to help the artist. You're an artist,
- 3:30Speaker 2: you're there to kind.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Of because look, bro, like when you meet and urs
- 3:33Speaker 1: and executive label niggas, you telling them your artists don't
- 3:39Speaker 1: really mean ship to them unless you got some.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Motion, because they hear it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: They hear it every day, especially if they go on
- 3:44Speaker 1: your Instagram. You know you don't got no motion. They
- 3:48Speaker 1: don't give a fun going to check Spotify. Yeah, they're
- 3:51Speaker 1: gonna check everything, and they really don't give a fuck.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Even if you're nice and ship, it doesn't matter. It
- 3:57Speaker 1: don't matter.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Show me, show me the.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Audience, Show me the audience. So if you go up
- 4:01Speaker 1: to the niggas and be like, bro, I could get
- 4:04Speaker 1: artists ten hooks. That's what they want to hear, bro Like, y'
- 4:08Speaker 1: y'all need hooks, y'all need beats. I could do your
- 4:10Speaker 1: whole album. Yeah, you go up to an end or
- 4:12Speaker 1: like that, I promise you the studio tonight. Yeah, I'm
- 4:17Speaker 1: playing some ship. So that's really the easiest way. I
- 4:20Speaker 1: encourage every artist at if you're good, start there. Yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: still do your artist, ship, don't lose yourself, but like
- 4:30Speaker 1: try to get in by writing.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I mean so many grades have done that, like shout
- 4:33Speaker 2: to Eric, shout to Neo, I mean ship, Yeah, on
- 4:37Speaker 2: and on and on, tons of folks like that. So
- 4:41Speaker 2: obviously Chris Brown album comes out and then out of
- 4:45Speaker 2: nowhere this God Did record, which is one of the
- 4:48Speaker 2: We talked about this a bit on at the BT
- 4:51Speaker 2: radio room, but like, obviously, man, this God Did Ship
- 4:54Speaker 2: is like one of the craziest jay Z verses we've
- 4:57Speaker 2: ever gotten. I mean from performing he Hunt the BET Awards, uh,
- 5:04Speaker 2: I mean just just the Grammy Ship he said, get
- 5:07Speaker 2: it right. It was the gram such an insane moment
- 5:13Speaker 2: in hip hop. I mean, got calid. I feel like
- 5:15Speaker 2: that record really kind of really set call it up
- 5:19Speaker 2: to you know, be looked at it in a different
- 5:21Speaker 2: way in terms of like putting records together. But give
- 5:24Speaker 2: me the backstory of like, I guess the whole process
- 5:29Speaker 2: of that song, because we've seen the video of you
- 5:31Speaker 2: singing it was that in your bedroom? And that was that?
- 5:35Speaker 2: Did you did you record that prior? Like like while
- 5:39Speaker 2: you're actually cutting that hook? I made it. That's just crazy.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I knew it was going to be special. I will
- 5:46Speaker 2: tell you a story like I told you I was
- 5:48Speaker 2: writing for a little bit. So I was in this
- 5:51Speaker 2: pub deal in the A and R left and it
- 5:54Speaker 2: was on some ship like I ain't have nobody else,
- 5:57Speaker 2: like I'm broken ship, I ain't had no connection. And
- 6:00Speaker 2: then too the building besides that A and R. So
- 6:03Speaker 2: me and my team was looking for like a buyout.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Somebody else would buy out my manager, Edgar, buy me
- 6:09Speaker 1: out my pub deal. So my manager, Edgar, he connected
- 6:12Speaker 1: the Eddie Mary J. Blise manager he worked at another
- 6:16Speaker 1: pub company, Prescription. He telling him like, bro, we need
- 6:19Speaker 1: to looking for a buyout. We needed this buyout like
- 6:21Speaker 1: hed one. I'm telling you like he was just pushing that.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And then Moneys go by. They finally buy me out
- 6:29Speaker 1: with my pub deal. M hm. So we fresh into
- 6:32Speaker 1: this pub deal. Chris Brown come out, and then I'm
- 6:37Speaker 1: watching cal It on Instagram say God did every day
- 6:41Speaker 1: like every time I wake up. I think he said
- 6:42Speaker 1: God did like every day for like three months, I've
- 6:46Speaker 1: been had like a guy did simple. And then I
- 6:50Speaker 1: called my manager. I'm like, bro, let's send it, let's
- 6:52Speaker 1: send it up, call it simple. He's like, nah, I
- 6:55Speaker 1: make a hook, like a real hook, like just you
- 6:57Speaker 1: type shit. I made the hook, Brock. As soon as
- 7:00Speaker 1: I started like the idea, I called my cameraman, bro
- 7:03Speaker 1: I said, come to the crib. This is special. Like
- 7:07Speaker 1: I already had the melody, like before I recorded it,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I already had like the melody, not even the words.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I just knew where I was gonna take it. As
- 7:15Speaker 1: soon as I made it, Broh, I knew this she
- 7:17Speaker 1: was the one.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Now did you get pretty immediate feedback from Cali that like,
- 7:23Speaker 2: oh this is something like this is but I know
- 7:25Speaker 2: you didn't know who didn't make You didn't know who
- 7:27Speaker 2: actually made it on the record for a while right now.
- 7:30Speaker 1: So look after I made it, right, we called Eddie.
- 7:34Speaker 1: We played it for Eddie that Nigga went crazy. He
- 7:38Speaker 1: had Cali number texted to cal Cali takes it back
- 7:41Speaker 1: like the next day, I need this on my album,
- 7:45Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Like a week go by,
- 7:47Speaker 1: we already starting the paperwork. It's at first it was
- 7:49Speaker 1: supposed to be like a like a just me with
- 7:54Speaker 1: the keys. How you hear my hook? A couple of
- 7:56Speaker 1: days go by, he like I just put three artists
- 7:59Speaker 1: on here and a singer said this shit gonna live forever.
- 8:03Speaker 1: As soon as he said that, Bro, I'm already thinking
- 8:05Speaker 1: like Nahs, Kanye jay Z, I'm thinking all high level
- 8:09Speaker 1: names based off the like the record. Yeah, for sure.
- 8:14Speaker 1: So I heard rumors of who was on the track,
- 8:18Speaker 1: but I ain't here the track till it came out, Bro,
- 8:20Speaker 1: like everybody else.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So when you heard jay Z had like a fucking
- 8:24Speaker 2: I don't know how many minutes long was it? Five
- 8:25Speaker 2: minutes longer? Five minutes longer made it impossible to play
- 8:28Speaker 2: at radio. I'll tell you that they were trying to
- 8:31Speaker 2: make all kind of random versions of that song when
- 8:33Speaker 2: they were working at the radio. I'm like, guys, this
- 8:35Speaker 2: is too long. Guys, this is not seven minute song
- 8:37Speaker 2: is not working at radio.
- 8:38Speaker 1: God bless it. It's a great record.
- 8:40Speaker 2: But what was your reaction here in hope?
- 8:43Speaker 1: Go off? Nah?
- 8:44Speaker 2: It was crazy, bro, quite possibly the best guest jay
- 8:47Speaker 2: Z for Top three. Guess jay Z vers ever.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Gonna live forever, Bro, just normal part of that. It's
- 8:53Speaker 1: a blessing. Bro.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Were you nervous doing the Grammy performance outside with everybody?
- 8:57Speaker 1: Like? Yeah, I was nervous as shit, like, so they
- 8:59Speaker 1: told me I was performing I was. I was bitching, bro,
- 9:02Speaker 1: like the whole It's like a month before they told
- 9:05Speaker 1: me I was I was performing. I'm like, fuck, Bro, Like,
- 9:10Speaker 1: I didn't expect this this early.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Bro, Like, do you like, do you like really like
- 9:14Speaker 2: train like a fighter trains training your voice, making sure
- 9:17Speaker 2: you fucking yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like the week of the Grammys, Bro,
- 9:20Speaker 1: every day I was singing Guy did like all day
- 9:24Speaker 1: just so it's like by the time the Grammys come,
- 9:26Speaker 1: I can't mess up because I've been singing it all week.
- 9:28Speaker 1: When I woke up shower singing that shit. I remember,
- 9:31Speaker 1: like right before he was about to perform, Calik came
- 9:35Speaker 1: to my where I was getting dressed that type shit
- 9:38Speaker 1: it's on my TikTok and he played the instrumental in
- 9:41Speaker 1: my ear. His whole team, everybody else, jay Z, everybody else.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Had he put the gin in my ear. I don't
- 9:48Speaker 1: even know he thought I was gonna sing. That was
- 9:50Speaker 1: before the performance, and I just start singing it everybody
- 9:53Speaker 1: like he ready and I just once that happened, Bro,
- 9:56Speaker 1: I just went on stage that same energy. Bro knocked
- 9:58Speaker 1: it out the park.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Talk about like some of your influences growing up obviously
- 10:04Speaker 2: being out of Philly Man. Philly is obviously a legendary
- 10:06Speaker 2: hip hop city. There's so many different artists. We can
- 10:09Speaker 2: go back to the roots obviously all the way to
- 10:12Speaker 2: meet Mill and you know, Free Way, all that good ship.
- 10:16Speaker 2: But like, who were you influenced by growing up?
- 10:19Speaker 1: I grew up in a church, so it was just
- 10:21Speaker 1: like soul for music when I was a kid. And
- 10:24Speaker 1: then like when I outside of that, I'll start going
- 10:27Speaker 1: to like Boys to Men. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 10:29Speaker 1: what was.
- 10:30Speaker 2: That dude with that deep voice on Boys to Men?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Deepest ship? I know you're talking about he was talking shit.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I forgot his name though, but that was like, I
- 10:41Speaker 2: hope he's on cameo. That'd be the cameo to get
- 10:44Speaker 2: like to have him lay down your voice, like your voicemail, like,
- 10:46Speaker 2: hey what up, ladies, you call Friday, leave a voicemail
- 10:50Speaker 2: and yes, this is me from Boys to Man. Yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 2: that was like my like first and obviously Philly legends.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's like and then it was like right
- 11:01Speaker 1: after they was just like all R and B like
- 11:03Speaker 1: Jamie Fox, Brian Knight. Then I started like living my
- 11:07Speaker 1: life and like Meek Mill, Kanye West and Drake shouts
- 11:11Speaker 1: of I mean Jamie Fox alien level talent. Yeah, different
- 11:14Speaker 1: niggas don't know, like they sleep on his music.
- 11:17Speaker 2: That first album that Unpredictable. Yeah, what was that song
- 11:21Speaker 2: called One Night?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Was it one Night Occasion? That ship? That ship man?
- 11:26Speaker 2: I was, I'm so glad he's all right.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Yeah for sure.
- 11:28Speaker 2: He one of the ones, top tier actor, top tier comedian,
- 11:32Speaker 2: top tier singers, singers, just everything.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He's a beast man.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and shot to a shot to his new movie
- 11:40Speaker 2: The Clone Tyrone going right now, Yeah, it's going crazy.
- 11:44Speaker 2: So obviously you you end up for you the catalyst
- 11:49Speaker 2: to start writing. And like, I guess everyone kind of
- 11:52Speaker 2: you said you had a pub deal that you had
- 11:53Speaker 2: to get bought out of, right, So what was like
- 11:55Speaker 2: your first initial like real step into being in the
- 12:00Speaker 2: quote unquote music industry? Like how did you get that
- 12:02Speaker 2: initial pub deal? Like before we really knew who you were,
- 12:04Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Uh shit around? Like he was like twenty nineteen, twenty twenty,
- 12:14Speaker 1: that's when I met my manager. Remember he was like,
- 12:18Speaker 1: bro start writing, Yes, So when I met him, I
- 12:21Speaker 1: was like making like ten.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Hooks a week, bro, Like were you still in Philly. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 2: I was in the same room at the crib. At
- 12:27Speaker 2: the crib, you're like cutting the hooks, sending him to him,
- 12:30Speaker 2: and then he's doing his.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Job getting he's sending it out. So it's like I
- 12:34Speaker 1: was made like ten ten songs a week. Yeah. At
- 12:38Speaker 1: that time, I was close to my man produced, my producer,
- 12:41Speaker 1: the Newso, and I started making a lot of beats
- 12:44Speaker 1: on his a lot of hooks on a lot of
- 12:46Speaker 1: hooks on his beat, and he was about to get signed.
- 12:50Speaker 1: But the person he was about to sign to, they're like,
- 12:52Speaker 1: who that on the hooks? Like, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:54Speaker 1: He hard. So that's how like, that's how that happened
- 12:58Speaker 1: with my first pub deal tape. Shit.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And now when they ask who's that on the hook?
- 13:02Speaker 2: They keep you on the hook. Yeah, they keep they
- 13:05Speaker 2: keep me. Now now they're like, oh, that's the Friday, Sure,
- 13:08Speaker 2: we're gonna need that come over here. How in demand
- 13:12Speaker 2: are you in terms of just like artists trying to
- 13:14Speaker 2: get you on their ship, and how selective are you
- 13:16Speaker 2: being with that because a lot of people burn out
- 13:18Speaker 2: pretty quick.
- 13:18Speaker 1: When it comes to oversaturating. Yeah, it's like I look
- 13:23Speaker 1: at every situation like do it what do it do
- 13:26Speaker 1: for both who us? They like do it benefit me?
- 13:31Speaker 1: Or sometimes about the music for like the song's amazed,
- 13:34Speaker 1: so amazed, and I'm fucking with you, but it's like
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm down to work with whoever. Bro Like it's just
- 13:39Speaker 1: gotta makes sense for the both of us, you know
- 13:41Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like at the same time, I'm giving
- 13:43Speaker 1: my own my own, my own music. Yeah, you know
- 13:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it's not like I'm building the
- 13:50Speaker 1: already built a fanbase.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Probably harder for you to give away hooks at this
- 13:52Speaker 2: point because you're like, I mean that could that could
- 13:54Speaker 2: be my ship?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, but I make so much music. There's more where
- 13:59Speaker 1: that came from.
- 13:59Speaker 2: It's like I got like five hundred that I'm not using.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I just wanted to say with the great ones, the
- 14:04Speaker 2: great ones aren't greedy because it's just more where that is.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm gonna just write another one tomorrow, so go ahead
- 14:08Speaker 2: take it, like help us out, like it's gonna help
- 14:10Speaker 2: my picture the program.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Like in like my music, like I say, and the
- 14:16Speaker 1: music I dropped like on my projects lost the melody
- 14:19Speaker 1: and ship. It's a very distinctive sound like so like
- 14:24Speaker 1: a lot of the ship I make, I'm like, damn,
- 14:26Speaker 1: that's not for me. I just give it to somebody else.
- 14:28Speaker 1: You kind of you know what I'm saying. Yeah, you
- 14:30Speaker 1: don't fit in my album. So everything I make for
- 14:33Speaker 1: me is like one hundred percent for me. Yeah. So
- 14:37Speaker 1: like say I'm working on an album, I'll make fourteen songs,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and all fourteen songs going album. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I'm not making I'm not even finishing the song right
- 14:48Speaker 1: for me, And it's not you know what I'm saying.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So I got like five hundred like that I wouldn't drop,
- 14:55Speaker 1: but I could get somebody. Sure, it's a nice problem
- 14:57Speaker 1: to have, No, for sure, we.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Got to stop the interview real quick to tell you
- 15:00Speaker 2: about our folks at my bookie. Man, look my bookie.

- 18:11Speaker 2: Oh fire I let them on the intro the It's
- 18:14Speaker 2: Crazy album. Any rappers Nah? No rappers? Wow?
- 18:19Speaker 1: I might. I might throw some like remix I had.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I had some rappers I wanted on there. But you
- 18:24Speaker 1: know what I'm saying is timing mm hmm, well hopefully
- 18:29Speaker 1: on like some remixes.
- 18:30Speaker 2: That's crazy, Like so is the afrobeat tongue. Is everybody
- 18:34Speaker 2: on the on the same song or do you have
- 18:36Speaker 2: multiple I got multiple fire. Yeah, that's like that's like
- 18:39Speaker 2: my second home. Like music wise, I ain't because I'm Haitian.
- 18:43Speaker 2: So that like afro beat feeling is in me. It's
- 18:48Speaker 2: the funnest genre. It's like, finally there's music that people
- 18:50Speaker 2: can dance to happening like on the mainstream level, you
- 18:53Speaker 2: know for sure. It's like the best part of the
- 18:55Speaker 2: club night is when like DJ because people are having fun.
- 19:00Speaker 2: It's like, shout out to marsh Madness. I love it,
- 19:02Speaker 2: but I've been hearing it for like ten years. It's
- 19:03Speaker 2: like it's like, yeah, I could pop bottles to that,
- 19:05Speaker 2: but I'm not gonna. Yeah, So for you, like, uh,
- 19:13Speaker 2: let's break that because because you're one of the hook guys. Now,
- 19:15Speaker 2: who would you say, is like Mount Rushmore of the
- 19:19Speaker 2: best hook men of all time? Who's the hook gods?
- 19:23Speaker 1: My hook gods?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Nate dog Nate Dogges. I feel like undisputed top number
- 19:28Speaker 2: one slot, right, yeah, Nate.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Then I'm gonna go to go to Chris Brown. Of course,
- 19:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to Tire Dollar shout out to Tie,
- 19:41Speaker 1: and then I'm gonna go to at the Tie. I'm
- 19:45Speaker 1: gonna go to sanfa Oh yeah, like not even though
- 19:50Speaker 1: he did a lot of hooks, but but the ones
- 19:52Speaker 1: he did d fuck Everybody album look tip on right now.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Like I think back to the video of like when
- 20:00Speaker 2: Man and like Artists, and I just remember being like, damn,
- 20:06Speaker 2: I really need to dive into this guy's catalog.
- 20:08Speaker 1: If he's making grown Man cry out here, you're making
- 20:10Speaker 1: real music, bro. Like a lot of bullshit be overshadowed,
- 20:14Speaker 1: but the music, the real music will be put in
- 20:17Speaker 1: the back a lot nowadays. But when you're telling like
- 20:20Speaker 1: a nigga like Sanfah Special, Bro.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I donna say, like, uh, what what was it like
- 20:26Speaker 2: growing up in Philly for you? Because we kind of
- 20:28Speaker 2: hear so much. You know, my co host DJ Damages
- 20:30Speaker 2: from Philly, and he would always tell me like about
- 20:34Speaker 2: North Philly and places like Chester, Pennsylvania, and just like
- 20:38Speaker 2: like Philly is like that just that area in general,
- 20:41Speaker 2: wild place. And there's a lot of videos that have
- 20:43Speaker 2: been going viral recently of like because Fatana shit's really bad.
- 20:48Speaker 2: You've probably seen the videos of people like slumped out,
- 20:50Speaker 2: like looking like zombies all over the streets ship out there.
- 20:52Speaker 1: That's right, that's like near where I'm from, a.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Little bit by the way, also happening here in LA.
- 20:56Speaker 2: But you know, but what was it like for you
- 21:00Speaker 2: up in Philly? I mean, obviously you were going to church,
- 21:02Speaker 2: and you know, I'm sure you were. You had a
- 21:04Speaker 2: great childhood, but like, was it was it easier or
- 21:07Speaker 2: hard for you to deal with like kind of staying
- 21:10Speaker 2: out of that ship.
- 21:11Speaker 1: You know, church was in the trenches. Yeah, like my
- 21:15Speaker 1: pop church was in the trenches, bro. So it was like,
- 21:17Speaker 1: it's not like I had an easy childhood. Like as
- 21:20Speaker 1: soon as you step out of church, it might be
- 21:22Speaker 1: a shootout, you know.
- 21:23Speaker 2: What I mean, but you were able to kind of
- 21:24Speaker 2: keep It's kind of like you gotta like.
- 21:29Speaker 1: It's a rough neighborhood, bro. It's easy to like fall
- 21:33Speaker 1: into in that lifestyle, right, and it's like you really
- 21:37Speaker 1: just got to stay out the way, Like just stay
- 21:40Speaker 1: out the way, bro, like because it would be like
- 21:43Speaker 1: you be in the way, not even on some dumb shit,
- 21:46Speaker 1: you just be in the way some crazy way, just
- 21:49Speaker 1: like you're at the wrong place at the right time.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So what I will say, like I was always focused
- 21:54Speaker 1: on music, like everybody knew me, Like that's fried like
- 21:57Speaker 1: on some music ship, like you know what I'm saying.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Like I used to gineer niggas in Philly, produce for
- 22:02Speaker 1: niggas like on some studio ship, you know what I'm saying.
- 22:04Speaker 1: So it was just like I was always on some
- 22:07Speaker 1: music shipping out the way for her. So it's definitely
- 22:10Speaker 1: like a rough city though. But you really gotta like
- 22:13Speaker 1: just s you gotta be.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Focused so you don't get fall into you know, yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 2: what do you how do you feel about the other
- 22:20Speaker 2: trend that's happened in Philly right now? If you think
- 22:21Speaker 2: you guys are too rare and just like the dance
- 22:23Speaker 2: ship is going crazy.
- 22:25Speaker 1: They have bro, they're having a way. Yeah, they having
- 22:28Speaker 1: like it's beautiful bro to see.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Who's the group kids? You guys just signed? Yeah yeah yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 2: the sturdy ship is going crazy. I mean, I'm just
- 22:42Speaker 2: like it's like everybody's kind of doing their own version
- 22:46Speaker 2: Philly thing.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Everybody having fun bro, Like they brought it like a fun.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Vibe, fun energy that was missing.
- 22:52Speaker 1: And that's why I like Afro beat doing what they're doing,
- 22:55Speaker 1: Like you being the club. All these somethings about killing
- 22:59Speaker 1: and ship, all this Afro shit, Come on, niggas, want
- 23:01Speaker 1: to have funny dance, bro, Like I feel that why
- 23:04Speaker 1: Afro doing so good? And even the niggas from Philly,
- 23:08Speaker 1: like they bring in like good vibes back.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I mean I'm thinking like even like obviously Uzzi's from Philly, right,
- 23:12Speaker 2: so Uzzi like doing just want to rock. It's like
- 23:15Speaker 2: the biggest song in the club for like a year.
- 23:17Speaker 2: It's like just this fun song, like fun music.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Bro. And them regular niggas too from the trenches too,
- 23:23Speaker 1: so like don't get it, like you know what I'm saying.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Like them they just decide, Yeah, they focus on the
- 23:29Speaker 1: right ship, like we don't gotta be on those streets
- 23:30Speaker 1: ship making songs about violence and all that. They just
- 23:34Speaker 1: having fun.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Bro, did you ever like tap in with like like
- 23:37Speaker 2: obviously prior to your generation, but did you ever dive
- 23:40Speaker 2: into any of the roots music back from back in
- 23:42Speaker 2: the day, Uh, A little bit like Black Cloud's is
- 23:46Speaker 2: one of the greatest rappers that walk on the planet.
- 23:48Speaker 2: You know, I wasn't really on that, but I wasn't
- 23:51Speaker 2: on that though, but I'm familiar, Like I know they legends.
- 23:53Speaker 2: You gotta quest love having played drums on a song
- 23:56Speaker 2: or something. I know, clench love U shitting the drums
- 23:58Speaker 2: just like yo being on man, come and play drums
- 24:01Speaker 2: on this just for Philly.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah for sure. But I wasn't really on them early,
- 24:07Speaker 1: like I.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Mean, you weren't on them early because you also weren't
- 24:09Speaker 2: alive exactly, because being on them early would have been
- 24:12Speaker 2: you were listening to them m because I think their
- 24:15Speaker 2: first album was like ninety two.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I was knowing them a lot.
- 24:21Speaker 2: And that album isn't even on Spotify. You gotta buy
- 24:23Speaker 2: it like on a real Yeah, it's like yeah. And
- 24:28Speaker 2: then you know Scott Storch, Yeah, he was in the
- 24:31Speaker 2: roots for that's crazy.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I knew that. Somebody told me that started in the roots. Legend.
- 24:38Speaker 1: You gotta get with Storch man.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Have you got in with him yet?
- 24:40Speaker 1: No? No yet? The legend though.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Let him tell you some stories. I know he got
- 24:44Speaker 2: some crazy, the craziest ever. Any girl that you think of.
- 24:48Speaker 2: When I say this to you right now, that pops
- 24:50Speaker 2: in your head.
- 24:51Speaker 1: He is true.
- 24:52Speaker 2: He fucked everybody first, So whatever girls just popped up
- 24:55Speaker 2: in your head.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yep.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Then everybody, everybody, we gotta sit down with skorts. You
- 25:02Speaker 2: gotta go out to Miami.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I heard he went stupid when he was up and
- 25:06Speaker 1: then he went down. But he's back up. You back
- 25:08Speaker 1: up right now.
- 25:09Speaker 2: He got through it.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I heard that story he used to snack.
- 25:12Speaker 2: The amount of money Scott Storts was spending on just
- 25:14Speaker 2: like everything was just I mean, Jesus Christ, God blessed
- 25:18Speaker 2: that guy.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I'm just a legend. Cousin Mark Sor. We'll be having
- 25:21Speaker 1: an argument like who better Timbo or Scortch. I'll be
- 25:25Speaker 1: going with Timbo. Yeah, you know, some say stop Scott Storch.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I think I think it's like Timberland's like top three. Ever,
- 25:34Speaker 2: so his range is insane. Jay Z he can do
- 25:38Speaker 2: Bubba Sparks. He could do it, and he could do
- 25:40Speaker 2: it Nellie.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Fortado Like that's why he's my favorite.
- 25:44Speaker 2: The range of him is insane. How you have you
- 25:47Speaker 2: heard anybody try to make an AI version of yourself yet? No,
- 25:50Speaker 2: I'm waiting it's gonna happen, and I want to hear
- 25:53Speaker 2: it though, like crazy like can AI now your your tone?
- 25:58Speaker 2: You know?
- 25:59Speaker 1: I mean now?
- 26:00Speaker 2: And some others Crazy Ship they are Rihanna Kanye the
- 26:04Speaker 2: Rihanna Tims remixed.
- 26:06Speaker 1: That ship crazy Fire. Yeah, I've seen some other ship.
- 26:10Speaker 1: It was a I think it was Kanye and Frank.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Kanye is sung a Frank Ocean joint. No, Kanye's under
- 26:16Speaker 1: Justin Biever Junk. And that ship was crazy though.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of crazy that a I think is
- 26:22Speaker 2: getting a little it's getting little sketch.
- 26:25Speaker 1: They I hope they shut that ship down.
- 26:26Speaker 2: They're not going to the labels are going to start sucking.
- 26:29Speaker 2: They're doing the same ship the actors are doing.
- 26:31Speaker 1: The actor You.
- 26:32Speaker 2: See a why the actors are on strike. They're trying
- 26:34Speaker 2: to slide in a little artificial intelligence into the movies. Yeah,
- 26:38Speaker 2: so like extras, Like they want the extras to be
- 26:42Speaker 2: like AI, Like they want to be able to scan
- 26:44Speaker 2: like an actor and then use their artificial likeliness. It's coming, bro.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Ship they got that one joint where the boy made
- 26:53Speaker 1: a uh I think some boy made a song like
- 26:56Speaker 1: Drake Future in the weekend, that ship hit like a
- 26:59Speaker 1: million the.
- 26:59Speaker 2: First Oh yeah, yeah, this was like yeah, this was
- 27:02Speaker 2: like what maybe like six months ago, seven months and
- 27:04Speaker 2: that ship went.
- 27:07Speaker 1: This ship hard because.
- 27:08Speaker 2: It's like also not a bad idea if you're a writer.
- 27:12Speaker 2: I wonder if it's a terrible idea to like.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Writers on there right now, writers doing all AI ship.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Because like this is what this is like, let me
- 27:19Speaker 2: send this out. So, like my thing is is, if
- 27:21Speaker 2: you're a writer and you write a song for Drake,
- 27:23Speaker 2: do you send the AI Drake version to his team?
- 27:25Speaker 2: So look, this is how he would sound. I've seen
- 27:27Speaker 2: some ship, Like I don't like, what's some writer? They

- 31:13Speaker 1: Man, it's gonna touch a lot of people too.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Have you picked the next single yet?
- 31:17Speaker 1: Obviously?
- 31:17Speaker 2: The Chris Brown Songs going crazy. But have you guys
- 31:19Speaker 2: picked the next singer? You're gonna let the fans. We
- 31:21Speaker 2: dropped another one. We dropped a single two weeks ago
- 31:23Speaker 2: that when it comes to you.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Who's on that? Wasn't that one? That was just you? Okay,
- 31:28Speaker 1: I didn't hear that, So Chris Brown Jump, we dropped
- 31:30Speaker 1: when it comes to you, it's going crazy right now,
- 31:34Speaker 1: the video going crazy.
- 31:35Speaker 2: And you know what's gonna happen when the album comes out.
- 31:37Speaker 2: You guys are gonna see them streams go up and
- 31:39Speaker 2: whatever record. And that's usually I feel like that's kind
- 31:42Speaker 2: of the new way to you throw out the singles
- 31:45Speaker 2: and then you put the album and then let the
- 31:46Speaker 2: fans kind of gravitate towards especially with these bigger artists. Now,
- 31:50Speaker 2: the labels will hit me and they'll be like, Hey,
- 31:52Speaker 2: which song do you like on the album that just
- 31:53Speaker 2: came out with no note like Utopia right, like no
- 31:57Speaker 2: one likes k pop.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Probably the worst song on the album, Nigga Crazy.
- 32:02Speaker 2: It is the worst song on the album. It's not
- 32:04Speaker 2: a terrible song. I love Utopia each on, but it's like,
- 32:09Speaker 2: if you're gonna go with a record, you gotta go
- 32:11Speaker 2: with the meltdown right to each is on what's your
- 32:14Speaker 2: favorite do you like?
- 32:15Speaker 1: Well?
- 32:15Speaker 2: First of all, what are your thoughts on Utopia? It's
- 32:17Speaker 2: a great album, great production. Yeah, I liked it, Yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 2: I like it. Yeah, what's your what's your album of
- 32:25Speaker 2: the year so far?
- 32:25Speaker 1: This year?
- 32:26Speaker 2: Besides you can't say a.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Great question, don't yourself album of the year? And on
- 32:31Speaker 1: my phone.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Because the narrative is it's been a pretty rough year
- 32:36Speaker 2: for music.
- 32:38Speaker 1: It's been a crazy year, not the best year. I'm
- 32:43Speaker 1: gonna have to go on some afro beat shit probably okay, Yeah,
- 32:47Speaker 1: I'll be on the asro shiit. Hip hop is like,
- 32:50Speaker 1: like you said, it's been I don't feel like niggas.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Nigga's not focused no more how they used to be.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Like That's why, in my opinion, the best album of
- 32:58Speaker 2: the year so far as Killer Mike's album.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I heard that shit was crazy and somebody played me
- 33:03Speaker 1: that John too. It's a joint Andre three thousand on
- 33:06Speaker 1: there My Future hard yep. Andre three thousand Future.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Also worked on that album for like four years, so
- 33:12Speaker 2: that's I mean, listen.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Based off that sound song alone, bro production, cadence, real music, bro,
- 33:21Speaker 1: and that's what I'm saying like that music is not
- 33:25Speaker 1: being pushed in front of the bullshit like he dropped
- 33:29Speaker 1: the album of the year. I would get on some
- 33:31Speaker 1: rap shit how when I listen, But it's like so
- 33:35Speaker 1: much bullshit be put in the front of our face.
- 33:37Speaker 1: The real music is pushing it back, bro, Like you
- 33:40Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I feel like niggas gotta
- 33:43Speaker 1: start back. I feel like back then, bro, all the
- 33:47Speaker 1: all the the ship that was put in the front
- 33:50Speaker 1: of our face, it had some like some structure to us,
- 33:53Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like fifty these niggas was
- 33:56Speaker 1: making hooks that everybody could sing.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Bro, Like, listen, I'm to get your take because you're
- 34:00Speaker 2: a songwriter, right. I feel, for whatever reason right now,
- 34:05Speaker 2: like the women in hip hop are like the only
- 34:08Speaker 2: people who are really kind of applying themselves and trying
- 34:11Speaker 2: to make real records. And I don't know if that's
- 34:12Speaker 2: because you know, they're in with more writers or they
- 34:16Speaker 2: they're they're they're try I just feel like women are
- 34:18Speaker 2: making the most palatable, palatable records with structure, with hooks,
- 34:23Speaker 2: with like melodies like it just I feel like they're
- 34:26Speaker 2: really running circles around uh. Male artists right now in
- 34:29Speaker 2: terms of just like when you turn the radio on, like.
- 34:31Speaker 1: They having any way. Yeah, cat, like the.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Chicks are killing it, like shout out the sexy red dog.
- 34:37Speaker 1: She having a way.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Like I think they killing it more because they being
- 34:41Speaker 2: themself type shit. They're not trying too hard.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Just being them and just you know what I'm saying,
- 34:47Speaker 1: even they they were origin of themself.
- 34:49Speaker 2: And I also think women are very like, uh, for
- 34:52Speaker 2: whatever reason, a lot of women artists are like extremely
- 34:54Speaker 2: open to like bringing in help for melodies, for hooks.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I'm not saying for verses, but you know, no men
- 35:00Speaker 2: and niggas is too. Yeah, I mean, but you can't.
- 35:03Speaker 2: You just can't hear it in the songs. Yeah, motherfucker
- 35:08Speaker 2: is just rapping like three minutes. You're like, wait, where's
- 35:10Speaker 2: the Oh, that's the hook?
- 35:13Speaker 1: Like, oh, bro, these niggas just making These niggas will
- 35:16Speaker 1: wrap the whole song and just make the song title
- 35:20Speaker 1: or something they said in the song they got no hook.
- 35:22Speaker 2: And then the hook is just like it sounds like
- 35:24Speaker 2: an extension.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Of a verse.
- 35:25Speaker 2: And then when you hear it back again the verse, Yes,
- 35:28Speaker 2: and it's the laziest.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Ship said in the verse. They will name the title
- 35:33Speaker 1: of the song. Oh the fucking bro. We need a
- 35:36Speaker 1: new we need a new age. Fifty cent bro, we
- 35:38Speaker 1: need something this nigga fifty cent made hooks. Sure that
- 35:42Speaker 1: joh Nelly hooks bro Like, so when you're in the club,
- 35:48Speaker 1: everybody's singing that hook bro like that ship. That's why
- 35:51Speaker 1: I think hip hop not where it needs to be
- 35:53Speaker 1: right now. Bro, I agree with you, man, people gotta
- 35:56Speaker 1: start making records again. Shout out to uh so everybody.
- 36:00Speaker 1: They're trying though, you know what I mean.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Look, Friday, the album comes out on August twenty fifth,
- 36:04Speaker 2: which is also a Friday. It'd only be right your
- 36:08Speaker 2: album comes out on a Friday. Well, all albums come
- 36:09Speaker 2: out on a Friday. But we're going to act like
- 36:11Speaker 2: this is on purpose. You know, back in the day
