- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here and in. Today's episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:47all about adventure. And I was working with a client
- 0:50that had a real sense of adventure throughout their
- 0:53childhood and throughout their kind of early adulthood.
- 0:57But in their 30s, something changed, and it was likely to do
- 1:00with their work environment, where following the rules became
- 1:06more of a rewarded culture than taking risk and being
- 1:12adventurous. And that can happen, you know,
- 1:15equally a lot of people lose a sense of adventure naturally
- 1:20when they get older because they've got more
- 1:21responsibilities and they don't want to lose these things that
- 1:25they've built up. But it comes at a cost.
- 1:28And the cost is that no risk, no reward.
- 1:32And if you keep doing what you've always done, you're going
- 1:34to keep getting what you've always got.
- 1:35And I think that's a an Einstein, or at least attributed
- 1:38to an Einstein quote. But it makes sense that if you
- 1:43believe in cause and effect, keep doing the same things,
- 1:46you're going to keep getting similar kind of outcomes.
- 1:49So adventure doesn't have to be quitting your job and going
- 1:53traveling around the world, and it doesn't have to be buying a
- 1:56boat or a zoo or something like that.
- 1:59Adventure could be taking a risk in any area of your life,
- 2:04something outside of the comfort zone, something that has
- 2:07unpredictable outcomes that you don't know it's going to work
- 2:11out. OK, Committing to a relationship
- 2:16could be an adventure. Trying a different career could
- 2:20be an adventure. So there's all these things that
- 2:22can be adventures that don't have to link with the standard
- 2:29idea of what an adventure is. You don't have to become Indiana
- 2:32Jones and. Look for treasure.
- 2:34Somewhere far-flung part of the world to be having an adventure.
- 2:39And this particular client wanted to reactivate this sense
- 2:44of adventure because they'd go into an element of playing it
- 2:48safe so much that they weren't doing anything different in case
- 2:52something goes wrong. But that's what makes an
- 2:55adventure an adventure. The fact that there is no
- 2:57guarantees. If it was guaranteed, it feels
- 3:00more like a theme park ride. It's the illusion of excitement,
- 3:05but not real excitement because everything's safe.
- 3:08So true adventure does carry some form of risk that things
- 3:12might not work out. And being OK with that, it's not
- 3:16that you need the guarantees, it's that if something doesn't
- 3:20go to plan, then that itself becomes an opportunity to
- 3:24problem solve, to learn to resolve a situation.
- 3:30And nobody would become a parent if they didn't realize that
- 3:36there would be unpredictable things that happened.
- 3:38So there's all of these things that naturally have that element
- 3:43of you can't know for sure what is going to happen, but people
- 3:47make the evaluation consciously or unconsciously that they'll
- 3:50deal with it. Every business owner, you could
- 3:54ask them, you know, would you have even started the business
- 3:57if you knew all the challenges that you would face?
- 3:59And quite often they would say no.
- 4:01But the fact that they didn't know and were willing to deal
- 4:03with the challenges as they arise actually leads them to
- 4:06becoming quite resilient and resourceful and having the
- 4:09mindset that they can deal with whatever life throws at them.
- 4:13This particular client could identify a lot with an old
- 4:18children's series of books called The Famous 5 and the
- 4:23Famous 5 written by Enid Blyton. And it had certain characters, a
- 4:29family, four siblings and a dog. They call on these wild
- 4:33adventures. And it was very, very popular
- 4:36many, many years ago. And it was for a lot of children
- 4:41a gateway into how they could be adventurous within their
- 4:44imagination and which characters they could identify with.
- 4:47So this particular client had had that experience of
- 4:50identifying with these kind of characters in the Famous 5.
- 4:54But also the adventure that Alice in Wonderland goes on in
- 5:00either Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass, this
- 5:02kind of element of strange place within the imagination.
- 5:08You know, most people look at Alice in Wonderland as a a
- 5:12metaphor for the capability of the imagination and what she
- 5:16experienced wasn't real, it was just a way for her to explore
- 5:20her imagination. So we use those in the induction
- 5:24and the five characters from the famous 5 become almost
- 5:27archetypes to represent different ego states or resource
- 5:31states, the idea that they exist within the individual and we
- 5:35work with those. Rather than saying like we have
- 5:37to kill off a part, it's more to give it its role.
- 5:41And a nurturing part should be giving nurturing
- 5:43responsibilities. You don't want a nurturing part
- 5:45to be making decisions on risk because they're going to be risk
- 5:48averse. Whereas a courageous adventurer
- 5:53is going to take the risks and you want to have the right role
- 5:58in the right functions. There's a bit going on in this
- 6:01session, but at its core, this is all about unleashing a
- 6:07renewed sense of adventure. And one thing I will say, I was
- 6:11aware that when I was recording this, there was a little bit of
- 6:16noise outside of my studio that I wasn't able to control.
- 6:20So if you hear that, just acknowledge that, you know, what
- 6:24I do is never, I never stop the hypnosis.
- 6:30I just kind of carry on, you know?
- 6:32And hypnotists are taught to do something called manage
- 6:35distractions. So if it was a real client, you
- 6:38would pre frame that in the pre talk.
- 6:40Obviously you can't do that in a recording.
- 6:42So this is my equivalent of that now just to say any
- 6:44distractions, just allow them to, you know, come up and then
- 6:49disappear and continue with the session.
- 6:51I hope you enjoy this particular if you want to feel more
- 6:54adventurous this year. So find a quiet, comfortable
- 6:56place where you ideally won't be disturbed throughout the whole
- 7:00thing and just relax and enjoy the session.
- 7:27Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in a slow,
- 7:40long, relaxing breath and as you exhale, just allow the weight of
- 7:49the day to gently melt away and feel that tension leave your
- 7:58body in that outward breath. As you breathe in and breathe
- 8:06out, allow yourself to relax more deeply.
- 8:20Allow yourself to release any tension and feel a wonderful
- 8:26sense of letting go, of letting go of old ideas, things you
- 8:38learn, perhaps in a structured hierarchical world that doesn't
- 8:47belong to you anymore. Scan your body for any clues of
- 8:53tension and set the intention not that these tensions will
- 9:01melt away. Set the intention that these
- 9:10tensions can be harnessed almost like alchemy.
- 9:22But instead of turning lead into gold, what if you were turning
- 9:29tension into adventure? As you breathe in and breathe
- 9:39out, feel that tensions start to convert, alter and change.
- 9:48And while that alchemy is happening, perhaps you could
- 9:53imagine a tranquil garden bathed in soft spring sunshine, a place
- 10:07where time seems to stand still. I want you to imagine you're
- 10:15exploring this garden. It feels magical.
- 10:22And imagine noticing something curious.
- 10:26A rabbit hole. That twists and turns into the
- 10:31earth, or perhaps a glistening looking glass that shimmers with
- 10:39possibilities. You can choose to explore the
- 10:47rabbit hole or the looking glass.
- 10:52Allow your intuition to tell you as you evaluate which of the two
- 11:00calls you more. Feel the pull, the invitation to
- 11:06explore something unknown. And as you do, notice how a
- 11:17sense of calm curiosity begins to grow, allowing you to trust
- 11:26this journey into your own unconscious mind.
- 11:32And maybe you lean forward, stepping through the looking
- 11:36glass or sliding effortlessly down the rabbit hole.
- 11:44And with each movement, feel yourself transitioning, perhaps
- 11:51going deeper and deeper into a new realm, a space where
- 11:58anything is possible, where your imagination and resources can be
- 12:08what they're destined to be. Feel the journey unfolding layer
- 12:18by layer as you drift down past the conscious, into the
- 12:25subconscious and into the boundless realms of your
- 12:31unconscious, as each breath carries you further and deeper
- 12:41into a place where marvellous, incredible changes are possible.
- 12:54As you find yourself in this new realm, imagine yourself in a
- 13:02vibrant, dreamlike landscape filled with a glow of
- 13:09opportunity. And imagine before you stand 5
- 13:16figures, each radiating their own unique energy.
- 13:25These are not strangers, parts of you, aspects of yourself
- 13:34waiting to guide you. Perhaps you could imagine Julian
- 13:42the leader stepping forward, exuding confidence, clarity and
- 13:48acquired courage as you feel his presence and recognise the
- 13:53strength within yourself to lead boldly, to face risks head on
- 14:01with poise and determination. And he tells you adventure is
- 14:08not about guarantees, it's about the thrill of the unknown.
- 14:15You are capable of handling whatever comes your way, so
- 14:21trust in yourself. And next, Dick steps forward,
- 14:38cheerful, resourceful and playful.
- 14:41His energy reminds you that even in the face of challenges, there
- 14:47is joy to be found, clever solutions to uncover, and
- 14:53laughter to lighten the load. He whispers.
- 14:58Remember, every risk can lead to unexpected joy and growth.
- 15:13And then comes George, standing tall and defiant.
- 15:19George's rebellious spirit encourages you to break free
- 15:23from the limitations of fear or hesitation.
- 15:27And she says true adventure begins when you embrace your
- 15:33wild side. So be bold and let your
- 15:37instincts guide you. Anne approaches gently, offering
- 15:49warmth and compassion. And Anne represents your
- 15:53nurturing side, the part of you that cares deeply, creates
- 15:59comfort and ensures balance. And she smiles and says, I am
- 16:10here to ground you, to remind you that care and kindness are
- 16:15your foundation. And while adventure calls, I
- 16:21will keep you steady. And finally, Timmy the dog, your
- 16:30protector, appears by your side, and his loyal presence assures
- 16:36you that you were never alone, and he conveys this through his
- 16:41steady gaze. Whatever path you choose, I'm
- 16:46here to guide and guard you. And maybe you identify with some
- 16:56of these archetypes and characters more than others, but
- 17:00they all exist within you. So embrace them as they form a
- 17:07powerful team. Your team equipped to embrace
- 17:13the unpredictable, to navigate challenges and find joy in the
- 17:19journey. As you begin to accept all of
- 17:31these parts of yourself, you begin to imagine a future filled
- 17:37with adventure and fulfilment. See yourself standing in nature,
- 17:49perhaps rolling hills and countryside, perhaps perhaps
- 17:57somewhere distant, a different town, a different part of the
- 18:02world. Allow your imagination to take
- 18:06you somewhere that represents far away from your comfort zone,
- 18:15and maybe you could imagine yourself by the edge of a serene
- 18:20sanctuary, maybe a sanctuary that you've created.
- 18:26And maybe see yourself surrounded by animals, creatures
- 18:33that rely on your care, your courage, your willingness to
- 18:36take risks to create this haven. And a penny drops where you
- 18:49realise that your nurturing side can only flourish if your
- 18:56adventurous side takes bold steps and real risks.
- 19:09That version of you that can climb mountains, cross rivers
- 19:12and make decisions that feel uncertain, knowing that growth
- 19:18comes from action, not guarantees.
- 19:23So each time you leap into the unknown and dive into the
- 19:27mysteries, you feel stronger, more capable, and more alive in
- 19:37this future. You embrace a simple principle
- 19:44that you either win or you learn, and the only way to lose
- 19:49is to stay still and do nothing. So imagine that voice of Julian,
- 19:57this time within you, saying the thrill of adventure.
- 20:03Lies in its unpredictability, and that's exactly what makes it
- 20:09so worthwhile. And so you smile at the
- 20:17uncertainty, the challenges, and even the occasional failures
- 20:23because you know deep within, they are all part of the grand
- 20:30adventure called life. So now step towards that future
- 20:48and imagine no longer seeing yourself, but being there in
- 20:52that future, thriving in the midst of unpredictable
- 20:58variables. And maybe find joy in solving
- 21:03problems, in navigating mysteries, and in taking risks
- 21:08that lead to extraordinary experiences.
- 21:13Each challenge only strengthens your resourcefulness and makes
- 21:21your resolve unbreakable. To imagine building a sanctuary
- 21:29for life, not just for animals in nature, but for your own
- 21:34adventurous spirit. The unpredictability of the
- 21:39animals, the weather, the terrain is what makes it so
- 21:44appealing. But it is here that the
- 21:48nurturing side of you finds purpose.
- 21:52You've been trying to leave that nurturing part behind, but what
- 21:57if the adventurous part enables you to be more nurturing than
- 22:01ever before? Version of you that will feel
- 22:07deeply fulfilled because you took risks and unleashed that
- 22:15adventurous side that's been waiting within?
- 22:23What if the deep fulfilment comes from knowing that your
- 22:27courageous actions create beauty, safety and meaning for
- 22:33others? And maybe you now realise the
- 22:39true adventure lies in not knowing what will happen next
- 22:45and really appreciating, even loving, that it is this
- 22:50unpredictability that makes life rich and rewarding.
- 22:56And as you look back at your past, you know that to be true.
- 23:00Your biggest adventures are where you took a risk and made a
- 23:04decision. So now take a moment to thank
- 23:16these archetypes within you. Not characters in a book, parts
- 23:22of you, but thank them for their guidance.
- 23:26And as you do, feel the merge into your being, being more
- 23:31prominent that all of these, no matter their personality, all
- 23:38crave adventure and feel them becoming a seamless part of who
- 23:43you are. Julian's courage, Dick's
- 23:47resourcefulness, George's boldness and nurturing, and
- 23:54Timmy's protection are all within you, ready to support
- 23:59your every step. Feel the reintegration
- 24:07happening, that you are unleashing a new adventurous
- 24:15spirit with unshakeable belief that whatever happens, you'll be
- 24:23fine. Get a glimpse of that future and
- 24:30all the different futures. Travel, new friendships,
- 24:36relationships, new hobbies, new things to learn, new places to
- 24:42live. Imagine it all and know that
- 24:46it's just a decision and an action away.
- 25:00So it's time to bring back to the present the here and now,
- 25:06that adventurous team within becoming a dominant part of your
- 25:12new awakened personality. So take a deep breath in through
- 25:17your nose and out through your nose.
- 25:22Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 25:25Start to calibrate into the here and now as I now count from 1:00
- 25:28to 10:00 to awaken you. You will awaken realising that
- 25:33all of these ideas are just that, ideas within ideas,
- 25:39thoughts within thoughts, even dreams within dreams.
- 25:43And now it's time to awaken the adventurous.
- 25:47You starting to count. 123 waking up. 456 more alert. 7-8
- 25:55open your eyes, open your eyes. 910 wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 26:01awake. Thank you for listening to The
