- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. I am currently standing in front
- 0:30of my masterpiece from yesterday.
- 0:34I'm joking, I was pretty cool. So my daughter and I signed up
- 0:39to take a class that taught you how to make a chunky blanket in
- 0:45just a couple hours. So this is that giant yarn
- 0:48that's very, very thick, like thicker than your thumb almost.
- 0:52And it is. It's not something you do with
- 0:55needles, you do it with your hands.
- 0:57And I wasn't quite. I loved these blankets forever.
- 1:01I would see them when I would go shopping.
- 1:03Never bought 1 and always thought that they were super
- 1:07cool. Don't know why I never bought
- 1:09one, just never bought 1. And then a couple weeks ago,
- 1:12probably like maybe even two months ago, I saw on Facebook
- 1:16that one of my fellow coaches that I am work, I've been
- 1:21working with her for years to teach her to become a coach.
- 1:24So we we have a very close, very close relationship.
- 1:27She went to one of these classes in this in Texas where she
- 1:31lives. And I was like, oh, Oh my gosh,
- 1:34you made that? And she's like, I did.
- 1:36And it only took a couple hours and I'm so excited.
- 1:39And I so of course I grilled her.
- 1:41I picked her brain about it. And I was like, OK.
- 1:44And in the meantime, because she is the sweetest person, she
- 1:47researched where I could do it because she did it at a
- 1:50franchise. And it's called painting with A
- 1:53twist. If anyone wants to do it and
- 1:55they offer these extra classes other than painting, not to
- 1:59mention the stuff that they paint is super adorable.
- 2:02I have to admit, there are some things up there that I would
- 2:04definitely go back and paint and, and, and I paint, but I
- 2:09love to paint with groups sometimes and that would be
- 2:11something that I would love to go do.
- 2:12But back to the blanket. So she found the link and I
- 2:17could take the class. And these classes my friends
- 2:19sell out in, when they post them, they typically sell out,
- 2:23she said within 30 minutes, they're gone.
- 2:25So fortunately, everyone was on it.
- 2:27The stars were aligned. I say that smiling because, you
- 2:31know, of course I was supposed to be there and it was of course
- 2:33I was supposed to take my daughter and my daughter really
- 2:36needed a break. Getting out, you know, just
- 2:39getting away from being a mom and being a new mommy.
- 2:41We all know how hard that can be.
- 2:43So it was fantastic. The timing was great and we got
- 2:47there and I'm super excited because I, you know, am
- 2:51confirmed that I am not going to use needles with this no
- 2:54knitting needles because that always makes me crazy.
- 2:57Not to mention I can do this standing up.
- 3:00I was like what? I can do this standing up?
- 3:04I was so excited and I had such like a Oh my gosh moment and
- 3:12this is something that you do with your hands.
- 3:14So again, for me, this was like like I was the angels were
- 3:19singing. I was so excited.
- 3:21So of course my daughter's laughing.
- 3:23Of course I was the first one finished with my blanket and
- 3:26she's like, of course you're the first one finished.
- 3:27Not to mention that I was sitting there and there was 1
- 3:30teacher for I think there were like 12 of us, maybe 15 of us.
- 3:35So she had to go around and check everything.
- 3:37So you often had these gaps of waiting.
- 3:40So when you start it off, you have to make this edge and then
- 3:43you're supposed to, she'll say, she says just get the edge done
- 3:46and I'll be back. Well, I'm sitting there and I'm
- 3:48looking at it and I'm like, well, I could pretty much figure
- 3:50this out. So I just started it.
- 3:51My daughter's like you're working ahead.
- 3:53And I was like, well, I'm just seeing if I got it right.
- 3:56If I, if not, I can always pull it out.
- 3:58So I like, I worked ahead and she comes by and she's like, Oh,
- 4:01you've done this before. And I was like, no, I just
- 4:03figured it out. And she's like, great job.
- 4:05The only thing you have to do is this is how you tie on the end.
- 4:07And I was like, fantastic. So I'm off and before you know
- 4:10it, I'm in the class and I am helping the other two people at
- 4:14the table. I'm helping my daughter.
- 4:16I'm like, 'cause our table had four people at it.
- 4:20And I was like, I was so excited and I, and it came to me so
- 4:25quickly because of my daughter's like, how is this like clicking
- 4:29with you? And I said, you don't
- 4:30understand. My hands are constantly in dirt,
- 4:33constantly doing things. My hands have like a world of
- 4:38their own. So when this was just about
- 4:40moving and twisting and pulling, my fingers felt at home.
- 4:46And I think a lot of times we miss that we have these extra
- 4:49skills. Like I didn't even realize how
- 4:52deep that skill was in me until that took place.
- 4:56And I was so excited and I came home and I've got this blanket.
- 4:59And even my husband was like, you made that blanket.
- 5:02I was like, yes, I made that blanket.
- 5:05It was such a win and it was such a an experience to behold.
- 5:11So I'm telling you, if you live near A and this is not an
- 5:14endorsement for them, I am not getting paid to say this.
- 5:17But if you live near a painting with A twist and you have an
- 5:20opportunity to go make a chunky blanket, even with it's not with
- 5:24them with anybody, you should go make a chunky blanket if you're
- 5:28at all into crafts. And even if you're not, it's
- 5:30such a good push because I will tell you, leaving that class
- 5:34with an actual blanket felt so cool because oftentimes when I
- 5:39go, like I went to basket and I was supposed to make a basket
- 5:43and my son and I went together. And by the time we finished, we
- 5:46had my son being my son who he is, he looks at me and he goes,
- 5:50we don't have baskets, we have a coaster.
- 5:52And he was right. We only made the very bottom of
- 5:54the basket. It was very hard and it wasn't,
- 5:58it wasn't enjoyable because of that, but this was pure joy.
- 6:02So it was a jolt. It was just a nice pump up.
- 6:05So if you get a chance, go do it.
- 6:08And if not, maybe find something that gives you that jolt
- 6:11unexpectedly, because I will tell you it makes all the
- 6:15difference in the world. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:17you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:20Bye.
