- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, so let's go for it. Let's see the
- 0:04Speaker 1: scripture for today. Amen, and let's believe this and apply it.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Like I said, you could always test the word of God.
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's okay. It's okay to test the word. I mean,
- 0:14Speaker 1: why wouldn't you. This is an eternal word. Amen, A
- 0:17Speaker 1: turn the Word of God, so we could apply it
- 0:21Speaker 1: in our lives. How we suggest, though, that you get
- 0:25Speaker 1: into a personal relationship with the God of the Word.
- 0:27Speaker 1: So that way, every time that you read the Word,
- 0:29Speaker 1: the Word will continue to teach you by way of
- 0:32Speaker 1: Holy Spirit, guiding you and guarding you and leading you
- 0:35Speaker 1: to all truth, not into all fantasy, not until all myth,
- 0:39Speaker 1: not to all fairy tests, but into truth. And you
- 0:41Speaker 1: can apply real time in your life.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Amen.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So that way you know for sure that the God
- 0:47Speaker 1: of the Bible is real, holy and just and righteous
- 0:50Speaker 1: in all.
- 0:51Speaker 2: His ways, in all his ways, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So let's go for it. Over how to overcome depression.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Let's see, this is how we do it. We do
- 1:04Speaker 1: it through the words tewod Corinthians, chapter number twelve, verse
- 1:07Speaker 1: number nine. But he has said to me, my grace
- 1:12Speaker 1: is sufficient for you, My loving kindness and My mercy
- 1:17Speaker 1: are more than enough, always available, regardless of the situation.
- 1:23Speaker 1: For my power is being perfected and is completed, and
- 1:28Speaker 1: shows itself most effectively in your weakness. Therefore, I will
- 1:34Speaker 1: all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that
- 1:39Speaker 1: the power of Christ may completely and fold me and
- 1:44Speaker 1: may dwell in me. Now it is the Apostle Paul
- 1:47Speaker 1: talking to the church in Corinth, and I believe this
- 1:49Speaker 1: word is relevant to us as well. God says his
- 1:53Speaker 1: sufficient for the apostle, Amen is, his grace is sufficient.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So I'm gonna take this the same way Apostle Paul
- 2:03Speaker 1: took it, Amen, And I'm applied to my life knowing
- 2:06Speaker 1: that if He did it for Paul and his is,
- 2:09Speaker 1: God's grace is sufficient for Apostle Paul, Why wouldn't God's
- 2:13Speaker 1: grace be sufficient for you and for me? His loving
- 2:17Speaker 1: kindness and his mercy are available to all his children.
- 2:21Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, before we were even his child,
- 2:24Speaker 1: we experienced the grace of God. It's obvious because we're
- 2:28Speaker 1: alive right, even when we were making bad decisions before
- 2:33Speaker 1: that led us to depression. Because mental health, Amen, although
- 2:38Speaker 1: sometimes it's developed that you know, because of some things
- 2:42Speaker 1: going on at birth, or genetics, or mental issues that came,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know, because of other things other ways. But I
- 2:54Speaker 1: see another way of how I became depressed. It was
- 2:58Speaker 1: because I was making bad, poor decisions based on my feelings,
- 3:02Speaker 1: based on my flesh. Didn't know God, didn't trust God,
- 3:05Speaker 1: and I would go into dark places, and I didn't
- 3:09Speaker 1: know how to overcome depression. But now in Christ, I
- 3:13Speaker 1: boast about my weakness because I know in my weakness
- 3:17Speaker 1: his power, the Lord's power is being perfected.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Right. So enough of the.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Days that people, especially leaders and preachers and people tell you,
- 3:29Speaker 1: don't let people see you sweat, and all these cliches
- 3:31Speaker 1: that they got from the world. It sounds cool, sounds motivating,
- 3:36Speaker 1: but it's not biblical. Because the Lord himself Amen showed
- 3:40Speaker 1: us that he had feelings, that he had emotion, and
- 3:47Speaker 1: he wept. Jesus wept, right, our Lord, our savior, God
- 3:54Speaker 1: Man wept. So why are we going around and telling them,
- 3:58Speaker 1: you know, don't let people people see you, you know, struggle,
- 4:02Speaker 1: hide this and hide that. When the Lord Jesus demonstrated
- 4:05Speaker 1: his own love for us, and he demonstrated his feelings
- 4:09Speaker 1: for his friend Lazareth, by weeping for his friend Lazarus. Amen,
- 4:14Speaker 1: So why are we saying, oh, you know, you know,
- 4:17Speaker 1: if you're depressed, you know, we can't let people see that.
- 4:20Speaker 2: It shows weakness. The world says that. Amen. God actually
- 4:25Speaker 2: and encourages.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Us that in our weakness, his power is being perfected.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So when I'm weak, I'm going to go for help.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I ask God for help.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I'm going to ask the children, my brothers and sisters
- 4:38Speaker 1: for help in Christ.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So when you hear somebody saying, you know, don't let
- 4:45Speaker 1: them see you, or you know, just you know, be
- 4:49Speaker 1: strong and all that, it sounds motivating, but it's actually
- 4:54Speaker 1: something they're getting from the world, like sayings from the world, right,
- 5:00Speaker 1: And it's like almost like another cliche. And we don't
- 5:05Speaker 1: live on cliches when you're in Christ. We live in Christ.
- 5:08Speaker 1: We live on his word, and his word works through us,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and His power is made perfect in our weakness. So
- 5:15Speaker 1: He knows we are frail and weak. He knows when
- 5:19Speaker 1: we are depressed, he knows when we have anxiety, he
- 5:22Speaker 1: knows when we're struggling mentally, physically, and emotionally. He doesn't,
- 5:26Speaker 1: like I said earlier, doesn't fold his hands and just
- 5:29Speaker 1: watch us and say, now, what are you going to do?
- 5:31Speaker 2: Because I'm not gonna help.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Know He's with you, He's in you, he's working through
- 5:34Speaker 1: you by way of Holy Spirit. So yes, we do
- 5:38Speaker 1: have emotions. Men have emotions, ladies and ladies, men have emotions.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I know women have emotions. We all have emotions, We
- 5:45Speaker 1: have feelings. But we need to be strong and courageous. Yes,
- 5:49Speaker 1: like Joshua and the Old Covenant, how God encouraged the
- 5:55Speaker 1: soldiers back then, and the prophets back then, and the
- 5:59Speaker 1: men of God back then, of course strong and courageous.
- 6:02Speaker 1: And then we see it in a New Covenant. Right
- 6:04Speaker 1: when Jesus shows up, he shows his feelings, he shows
- 6:09Speaker 1: emotion based on love. He is God, God in the
- 6:14Speaker 1: flesh right, and he's showing us that he has emotions.
- 6:19Speaker 1: But he was mentally stable. And when he went through
- 6:22Speaker 1: the worst thing in life, Acruscifixion, he went was pretty
- 6:27Speaker 1: much ignored of who he was, a man, denied.
- 6:31Speaker 2: He had called them all kinds of things. A man.
- 6:33Speaker 1: He could have went into a state of depression himself,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but he relied on God the Father Amen to get
- 6:41Speaker 1: him through. I'm relying on God the Father to get
- 6:44Speaker 1: me through. Thank you Jesus. By the grace of God,
- 6:47Speaker 1: havn't been touched with severe depression. I've been depressed sometimes,
- 6:51Speaker 1: but not like it used to be when I was
- 6:52Speaker 1: in my early twenties. I used to get really depressed
- 6:56Speaker 1: and get into bad spaces of depression. But now that
- 7:00Speaker 1: I know more of who God is through his word.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And through experience with him.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Amen, when depression nights on my door, I said, hold on, Jesus,
- 7:10Speaker 1: can you answer that?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Amen?
- 7:12Speaker 1: Figuratively speaking, So, depression is a hard journey. I'm not
- 7:20Speaker 1: downplaying this any which way. I'm saying that, Oh, you
- 7:24Speaker 1: just press though, you say this, and you say that.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And depression is gone. It could be a hard journey.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But as a child of God, I have a solid
- 7:34Speaker 1: foundation in Christ Jesus to help you go through it,
- 7:39Speaker 1: to help you navigate through life when it's depression. When
- 7:43Speaker 1: it's depression that's trying to get you out the point
- 7:47Speaker 1: to remember that you're not alone, not alone, And that's
- 7:51Speaker 1: something that you might be saying.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I heard that a lot. I hear that a lot. No,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you're not alone for.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Real, You're not alone, and God is with you every
- 8:00Speaker 1: step of the way.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Amen.
- 8:04Speaker 1: If you start believing and trusting in the Word of
- 8:07Speaker 1: God for your life, through your life, in your life, Amen,
- 8:11Speaker 1: things are going to change for you for real, like
- 8:15Speaker 1: life is going to be different.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Life is still gonna hit us.
- 8:19Speaker 1: We're still going to go through pain, struggle, loss of
- 8:22Speaker 1: loved ones, We're still going to go through all of that.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But when depression tries to master you, Amen, you can
- 8:28Speaker 1: no longer. You don't have to say yes to depression
- 8:33Speaker 1: any longer you have Holy Spirit. I don't know you
- 8:36Speaker 1: could grieve Holy Spirit, but I don't know if the
- 8:37Speaker 1: Holy Spirit could be depressed.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I don't think so. Amen.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So you rely on the Holy Spirit, God that lives
- 8:42Speaker 1: inside of you, if you're born again, if you're a
- 8:44Speaker 1: believer in Christ, if you receive the forgiveness of Jesus,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and now you're empowered by Holy Spirit to fight and
- 8:52Speaker 1: know that even though it's a tough journey, and even
- 8:54Speaker 1: though it could mentally hurt and physically hurt and spiritually hurt,
- 8:59Speaker 1: God's with you, helping you through it. He's with us
- 9:02Speaker 1: in it. We're never alone a man, even when we
- 9:05Speaker 1: go through struggles of mental health and depression. So first
- 9:10Speaker 1: number one, embrace your identity in Christ. Very important to
- 9:14Speaker 1: know who you are in Christ and who He is
- 9:17Speaker 1: in you. Second, correct things for our seventeen I mentioned
- 9:20Speaker 1: the scripture a lot. We're new creations, Amen. Now that
- 9:24Speaker 1: we're new, we're experiencing the newness of God. So we
- 9:27Speaker 1: when weakness shows up mentally, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, addictions,
- 9:34Speaker 1: when those things happen, we have to rely on our
- 9:37Speaker 1: newness in Christ, our new identity, not in our old identity,
- 9:41Speaker 1: because that's going to take us out. That's going to
- 9:44Speaker 1: get us more depressed, it's going to get us more anxious.
- 9:46Speaker 1: It's going to make us do things that we're not
- 9:48Speaker 1: supposed to do. But when you know and focus on
- 9:51Speaker 1: the newness of God, that's what really counts. So Cheryl says,
- 9:54Speaker 1: we are new creations through Christ. We are never alone.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yes we are, Amen. And I have to myself, well personally,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I have to remind myself this often because you know,
- 10:05Speaker 1: voices and life and issues and yeah, I remind myself
- 10:10Speaker 1: weight I'm a new creation in Christ. When I get
- 10:12Speaker 1: cut off and somebody flips me the finger, middle finger,
- 10:17Speaker 1: because for whatever reason, I have to remind myself I'm
- 10:20Speaker 1: a new creation.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Amen.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Before I jump out this car and do something that
- 10:25Speaker 1: might be fatal to me.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Amen.
- 10:27Speaker 1: So I'm protecting myself from others, Amen, because I'm sure
- 10:31Speaker 1: of I'm not unsure. I'm not sure of my old
- 10:35Speaker 1: person how he would react. So I have to make
- 10:38Speaker 1: choices based upon my newness in Christ, not in my
- 10:41Speaker 1: own way of thinking. Renewing our mind daily, believing and
- 10:44Speaker 1: knowing we are who God says we are. Thank you
- 10:47Speaker 1: Chef for that. Yes, knowing who God says we are
- 10:52Speaker 1: very important, Amen. Not repeating what the world says we are,
- 10:56Speaker 1: not repeating after the world's patterns Romans Chapter twelve to right,
- 11:00Speaker 1: We're not going to be conformed to the patterns of
- 11:02Speaker 1: this world. Once you start conforming back to the patterns
- 11:05Speaker 1: of this world, you're going to notice she's gonna start
- 11:07Speaker 1: speaking things like the world speaks like again, like people saying,
- 11:11Speaker 1: never let them see you sweat, don't show emotion, and
- 11:15Speaker 1: you have to be strong, and this, that and the
- 11:16Speaker 1: third come on. That's directly from the world, not from
- 11:20Speaker 1: the word. Ay Man, Jesus is our example of how
- 11:23Speaker 1: to live this life out from righteousness and godliness. So
- 11:27Speaker 1: number two focused on renewing your mind, how with the
- 11:30Speaker 1: truth of God's word. Sometimes I'm like, you know, I
- 11:35Speaker 1: think we're making this complicated too, over complicated things. We
- 11:38Speaker 1: have the word, the will of God, perfect will of
- 11:42Speaker 1: God over our lives. Read it, apply it, read it,
- 11:45Speaker 1: apply it. If you can memorize some of these scriptures
- 11:48Speaker 1: to that way, when depression knocks on your door, you
- 11:51Speaker 1: could quote the scriptures of life over yourself. Take oil,
- 11:56Speaker 1: lift it up to the Lord. He will bless it.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Asking to bless the oil, and pour oil over yourself.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Lay hands on yourself, oil on your forehead, on your mind.
- 12:06Speaker 2: A man.
- 12:06Speaker 1: It's a symbol of God's power. It's a symbol of
- 12:09Speaker 1: God's power when we're weak. So we do these things.
- 12:12Speaker 1: It's not so much ritualistic as it is believing in
- 12:16Speaker 1: God's word. So focus on renewing your mind with the
- 12:20Speaker 1: truth of God's word. Romans twelfth two. We see that
- 12:24Speaker 1: in the scriptures. Meditate on scriptures that remind you of
- 12:30Speaker 1: God's love. Reminds you of God's grace and God's presence.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Because He's with us whenever alone. He said in his
- 12:38Speaker 1: word he will never leave us nor forsake us. Think
- 12:42Speaker 1: of the things like Philippians chapter four, Verse eight says,
- 12:46Speaker 1: think of the things that encourage you. Think of the
- 12:48Speaker 1: things that are above, that are true, that are noble,
- 12:52Speaker 1: that are pure, that are loving, that are admirable, And
- 12:57Speaker 1: then shift your focus from the negative thoughts, from thoughts
- 13:02Speaker 1: of depression. Shift your focus from that, because we could
- 13:06Speaker 1: stay in that depression for a long time if we
- 13:09Speaker 1: stay focused on depression. Depression gives you negative thoughts. Last
- 13:14Speaker 1: time I checked when I used to be depressed, When
- 13:16Speaker 1: I used to struggle deeply with depression. Nobody knew, but
- 13:19Speaker 1: I was struggling with it. The thoughts were not good, Amen.
- 13:22Speaker 1: The thoughts that were coming through my mind were not good.
- 13:24Speaker 1: The were negative thoughts. But you could shift those thoughts
- 13:29Speaker 1: from negative to the thoughts of God's promises, which are positive.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Amen.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I'm all about being positive, but I'm not into positivity.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I'm into the word more than positivity because I know
- 13:41Speaker 1: positivity is real, shallow, like if anything goes wrong.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Amen. It's hard to stay in a positive mindset.
- 13:51Speaker 1: But when you have the peace of God, Amen, that's
- 13:54Speaker 1: not a mindset that easily goes away. It's an actual lifestyle.
- 13:58Speaker 1: You're believing and trust thinking God's word. Hey man, every
- 14:02Speaker 1: negative thought captive. Yes, hold every negative thought captive to
- 14:07Speaker 1: the obedience of the Lord Jesus.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yes, we got it.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We got it, and you got it too. Replace it
- 14:14Speaker 1: with the word of God. Yes, these are strategies that
- 14:17Speaker 1: God gives us through his word. And this is not
- 14:20Speaker 1: just hocus pocus, This is not just pine the Sky ideas.
- 14:23Speaker 1: This is from the word of God. Thank you Chevell
- 14:25Speaker 1: for sharing that. And it seems like you've been digging
- 14:27Speaker 1: in because we all have to hold on. I mean,
- 14:31Speaker 1: you can hold onto the world system, you can hold
- 14:33Speaker 1: on to the old way of thinking. You can hold
- 14:34Speaker 1: on to that stuff. But something tells me that once
- 14:37Speaker 1: we experience the old stuff, we know the results. So
- 14:41Speaker 1: why would we continue doing the same thing over and
- 14:43Speaker 1: over again, trying to get different results when we know
- 14:46Speaker 1: that when we focus and trust in God's word, we're
- 14:48Speaker 1: going to get the best results in life for this
- 14:51Speaker 1: life on this side of eternity, and rely on trust
- 14:54Speaker 1: on Him since the joys. Good morning, God, bless you,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I see you on the morning, Devot. Thank you so much,
- 14:58Speaker 1: my system, my friend for co thank you for being
- 15:01Speaker 1: bold enough for trying to go to church yesterday in
- 15:05Speaker 1: honor Sheeta Ice on my block. Amen, you saw my driveway,
- 15:08Speaker 1: you saw my cars, and yeah, we couldn't make it,
- 15:12Speaker 1: but you made an attempt. And thank you Jesus that
- 15:15Speaker 1: he kept you and Nomah's safe on your way there
- 15:18Speaker 1: and on your way back. Thank you so much for
- 15:21Speaker 1: your boldness and courage. So lastly, remember this, remember that
- 15:26Speaker 1: God's grace is sufficient. We read it for you tewod Corinthians,
- 15:32Speaker 1: chapter twelve, verse nine. Apostle Paul said it. And I'm
- 15:36Speaker 1: going to repeat what Apostle Paul said. If the grace
- 15:39Speaker 1: of God was sufficient more than enough for the apostle, Amen,
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna think that God's grace is available to us
- 15:46Speaker 1: as well, and it's more His grace is more than
- 15:49Speaker 1: enough as well. Good morning, brother Carlos, is good to
- 15:52Speaker 1: see you, my bro. God bless you. Good morning, Welcome
- 15:54Speaker 1: back to the morning, Devo new week. Right, Roseen, shine
- 16:00Speaker 1: God's grace. When you're depressed, think of God's grace. And
- 16:06Speaker 1: like I said earlier, I'm not going to say this
- 16:08Speaker 1: is all easy. I'm going to say that this is
- 16:10Speaker 1: a challenge that way of thinking, because if you're used
- 16:12Speaker 1: to thinking the old way, if you used to following
- 16:15Speaker 1: the patterns of the world you used to just buying
- 16:18Speaker 1: self help books and positivity and all this other stuff.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Or if you're focused on the energy that people are
- 16:25Speaker 1: talking about in the universe, you know, they're trying to
- 16:28Speaker 1: get this energy from the universe, so that way they
- 16:31Speaker 1: could you get this and manifest that matter. If you're
- 16:34Speaker 1: into that, it's going to be a little different, a
- 16:38Speaker 1: lot different trying to focus on the word of God,
- 16:41Speaker 1: because the word of God is not based on energy
- 16:44Speaker 1: or the universe or astrology or psychology. It's not relying
- 16:51Speaker 1: God's word is not relying on those things. God's word
- 16:53Speaker 1: is truth all the time, reliable all the time, relevant
- 16:57Speaker 1: all the time. So when depression hits, and we have
- 17:00Speaker 1: the truth of God's work to focus on to get
- 17:03Speaker 1: our mind back into the things of the Lord, not.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Trapped in the old way of thinking, if that makes
- 17:10Speaker 2: any sense.
- 17:11Speaker 1: So if that's you, if you're experiencing severe depression, don't
- 17:17Speaker 1: be afraid to ask for help. It's also important to
- 17:20Speaker 1: seek professional help, a Christian counselor a Christian therapist that
- 17:28Speaker 1: not only has the power of God, which is incredible,
- 17:31Speaker 1: they have knowledge by way of what they were taught
- 17:34Speaker 1: in the field of mental health, So don't be afraid
- 17:38Speaker 1: to ask for help.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Amen.
- 17:40Speaker 1: That could give you additional support and guidance as you
- 17:45Speaker 1: work through your feelings of depression.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Amen.
- 17:48Speaker 1: So enough of the days that people, your leaders are
- 17:51Speaker 1: telling you or whoever tells you all. You're Christians, so
- 17:54Speaker 1: you can't let the world see you and weak in
- 17:57Speaker 1: our weakness. God's strength is being affected. That's the word
- 18:01Speaker 1: of God.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Amen. So thank you so much for hanging out with me.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And apologize for the audio issues earlier, but it seems
- 18:07Speaker 1: like it worked out. Podcasts will be up shortly after.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Take this audio and put it on the podcast. So
- 18:14Speaker 1: God bless you all. Got to keep you all remember
- 18:17Speaker 1: always that God is good.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Peace.
