- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So let's talk about the fact that human beings are problem
- 0:34solving creatures and we go to great lengths to create problems
- 0:38that we can solve. Humans will do more to avoid
- 0:42pain than they will to gain pleasure, and that is through
- 0:45that problem solving mode because without having the
- 0:48ability to be problem solving creatures, we would not have
- 0:51survived. So we're geared ourself, we've
- 0:54conditioned ourself, we are true problem solving creatures.
- 0:58So when our world starts to show signs of variation.
- 1:04And things become different like they are right now out in the
- 1:07world, whether it's economic or it's political or it's
- 1:12emotional, change happens all the time.
- 1:15It's just it's a never ending cycle.
- 1:17It doesn't matter where you are on the farm.
- 1:19I see it constantly. Everything is always an
- 1:22evolution, always moving, always changing.
- 1:25And while you, you know traverse through it all and you say it's
- 1:29the seasons, you really have to stop and pause and take note of
- 1:33the fact that this. Change is happening and we have
- 1:36the ability whether or not we are going to determine it to be
- 1:39a problem or it's going to just be the way it is.
- 1:43And do I need to give it my problem solving attention or am
- 1:47I giving it my problem solving attention and making the problem
- 1:50grow bigger by me giving it so much attention?
- 1:54So here what I'm saying. I'm not saying disregard the
- 1:56problems because problems help us by giving us information and
- 2:01then we can decide is this something that I am?
- 2:06Putting my focus on too intently am I overthinking this is the
- 2:10problem real? Is the problem perceived?
- 2:13Am I just hearing something and then turning it into a problem
- 2:16which is really what's happening out in the world right now.
- 2:19So many of us here 1 crumb of information and and it starts to
- 2:22become a blow up issue So I'm going to give you one like let's
- 2:26just use one that's all over the everywhere right now.
- 2:28The heat the heat is on. The heat is on.
- 2:30Everything's everyone's talking about how hot it is and so.
- 2:34You know, having plants, having chickens, having all this stuff,
- 2:37having this heat is extreme. So immediately there's a thought
- 2:41process about OK, if the heat is on, I have to protect the
- 2:45chickens. I start to go down this road and
- 2:47I start to get panicky because I'm hearing everyone talk about
- 2:50the heat and how bad it is. And you know, you have to
- 2:52protect this and you've got to do this.
- 2:55The here's the truth. My chickens have 7 water
- 2:58containers all over the property, spaced out.
- 3:01They have multiple spaces for shade.
- 3:03They have cool spots to go to. They even have a little tiny
- 3:07kiddie pool that they could get into if they want to.
- 3:09Plus we have a pond and they could absolutely get in there to
- 3:12cool themselves off. I made sure that they I I even
- 3:15took them out frozen blueberries to which they looked at me like
- 3:18I was insane as to why are these things so hard.
- 3:21They didn't like it. And every cooling solution that
- 3:25I attempted to provide for them, to quote, UN quote, keep them
- 3:29safe. They looked at me like I was
- 3:31nuts. They looked at me like I was
- 3:33insane and did not want to take me up on any of my offers for
- 3:38any of the supplies. What they wanted to do was do
- 3:41what they do and be chickens and.
- 3:44They dug dust baths and they did it their way, and it didn't
- 3:47require me to create a problem to solve it.
- 3:50What it required of me was to make sure I, as the caregiver,
- 3:54gave them plenty of water. That's what it required of me.
- 3:57And keep them hydrated, give them some electrolytes, make
- 4:01sure they're cared for. And you know what?
- 4:03Everybody's fine. So the problem was perceived not
- 4:07really real. And did it.
- 4:08I had to evaluate that, but I didn't need to stay in that
- 4:11place. So as we start to hear all these
- 4:13things about what the economy is doing, politics, wars, sickness,
- 4:20whatever it might be, we have to stop and pause and ask ourselves
- 4:24what are we doing? Is this energy helping me?
- 4:26Am I? Is it moving me closer to where
- 4:28I want to be? Or is it moving me further from
- 4:29where I want to be and. Sometimes shutting down all the
- 4:34noise is incredibly important so that we don't keep taking it all
- 4:39in and causing ourselves even more of a problem by taking in
- 4:42the negativity, because that negativity is toxic.
- 4:46It's that water barrel. Like I've talked about this so
- 4:49many times, you've got the rain barrel, it's filled with nice
- 4:52fresh water. You put one drop of arsenic in
- 4:55it, Hell it did. That one drop of arsenic in that
- 4:58huge rain barrel is not going to kill you.
- 5:01But would you drink the water? No.
- 5:02So you've got to protect your mind from this and you've got to
- 5:06make a choice about are am I going to use my problem solving
- 5:10skills for the greater good, or am I going to create problems
- 5:13for myself that I essentially am going to drive myself crazy
- 5:17with? It is imperative to stay on it
- 5:20and not go off the down the rabbit hole and off the rails
- 5:24with this, so I hope this is helpful.
- 5:27Use it for the greater good and don't make it toxic for
- 5:30yourself. All right, my friends.
- 5:32I hope you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:35Bye.
