- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:00Speaker 2: That.
- 0:00Speaker 3: Uh, Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The rex
- 0:06Speaker 3: was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there. You
- 0:10Speaker 3: love sandwiches. Huh, Let's go to eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It was bo wow that Prime time. Maybe I had
- 0:18Speaker 2: a crush on Betty Rubbell.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 3: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game. You're listening to to Gotsen Company.
- 0:37Speaker 3: It is to Gods and Company, presented by FanDuel and
- 0:40Speaker 3: the FanDuel Sportsbook. Mike Gulicks, Senior is with us. We
- 0:43Speaker 3: were talking right before we started here about a story
- 0:46Speaker 3: Edmonton in Vegas a hockey game over the weekend. Mike,
- 0:49Speaker 3: a woman went into labor during the game and had
- 0:52Speaker 3: the baby at the arena.
- 0:53Speaker 2: And I have to tell you.
- 0:54Speaker 3: This, Okay, if there's even you know, a remote chance
- 0:58Speaker 3: that you might have a baby and go into labor,
- 1:00Speaker 3: you probably shouldn't go to a hockey game.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I am captain hindsight. How about that?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would agree with that.
- 1:08Speaker 4: I have two hockey stories, one that relates to a
- 1:12Speaker 4: pregnant woman when I was here between in Arizona, I
- 1:17Speaker 4: should say between ninety five and ninety eight. The kids
- 1:22Speaker 4: were obviously a lot younger. Mike was born in eighty nine,
- 1:25Speaker 4: Jacob ninety, Sydney in ninety four, so they were young.
- 1:28Speaker 4: We had tickets to the Coyotes and we would go
- 1:31Speaker 4: to the games, and one game, right in front of
- 1:33Speaker 4: us was a pregnant lady who was very close to
- 1:37Speaker 4: her due date, and sure enough, a puck goes flying
- 1:41Speaker 4: into the stands and just creased her right above the eye.
- 1:44Speaker 2: What the punk?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 4: And it was one of those nights where they gave
- 1:49Speaker 4: out white shirts. It might have been a playoffs, it
- 1:50Speaker 4: might have been a white out. And I mean we're
- 1:53Speaker 4: pulling our shirts off and putting it on her head
- 1:55Speaker 4: and soaking up the blood. And she had to leave,
- 1:58Speaker 4: and you know, obviously it's trauma. She's pregnant, you know,
- 2:01Speaker 4: and about ready to give birtha like, oh my god.
- 2:03Speaker 4: And I was thinking of the same thing, what are
- 2:05Speaker 4: you doing at the game.
- 2:06Speaker 1: You know, wasting my shirt? Right?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yes?
- 2:09Speaker 4: And then the other moment around the same time frame
- 2:14Speaker 4: was Senator McCain. His family would sit right in front
- 2:19Speaker 4: of us, right, And so one time they were in
- 2:24Speaker 4: front of us and it was a young lady and
- 2:28Speaker 4: we just started talking and I said, oh, your your
- 2:31Speaker 4: father is not here tonight, Senator McCain.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And she was like, that's my husband.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Wow. And Serve Foot, I mean.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I was like, oh, sorry, speak for the rest of
- 2:47Speaker 1: the game. That's just because you look so young. Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I didn't have much to say after that, Right, was
- 2:54Speaker 3: your wife mortified?
- 2:55Speaker 2: Was she with you?
- 2:56Speaker 1: And?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Oh?
- 2:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean she was there, But I mean, in
- 3:00Speaker 4: my opinion, it was a fair question, right, go ahead.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Taylor, Mike, if a woman gives birth at a sporting event,
- 3:08Speaker 5: do you think the baby should get tickets for life
- 3:10Speaker 5: from that team?
- 3:12Speaker 4: Well, and you gotta believe that's such a hockey fan
- 3:15Speaker 4: that you have to name them after some hockey player, right,
- 3:19Speaker 4: some great hockey player, because you're obviously a monster fan
- 3:23Speaker 4: if you're coming there about ready to give birth and
- 3:26Speaker 4: or then give birth, Taylor.
- 3:28Speaker 6: See the problem with that is somebody gave birth a
- 3:31Speaker 6: Disney World like years ago and they got like lifetime passes.
- 3:35Speaker 6: So after that, everybody pregnant was trying to go give
- 3:38Speaker 6: birth at Disney, and Disney.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Was like no, no, no, no, nout. This was a
- 3:42Speaker 1: one time thing.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I wish Abby. I wish Abby had her kids at Augusta.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I mean, how about that?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Very true? A dead show.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I wish I could do it all over again just
- 3:55Speaker 3: to get free tickets. I mean, and how dare I
- 3:58Speaker 3: blast these people for going to a hockey game?
- 4:00Speaker 2: They have season ticket for life.
- 4:01Speaker 7: But in Edmonton this is perfect for like a sports
- 4:04Speaker 7: radio person, because if you're in Edmonton and you give
- 4:07Speaker 7: birth to a baby, are we.
- 4:08Speaker 8: Gonna name it Wayne or Connor? It's a great debate.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It's got to be Wayne, you call the great One?
- 4:13Speaker 4: I mean yeah, because quite honestly, Connor won't be there
- 4:17Speaker 4: much longer.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Here's what you're not calling it, Stanley Cupp I mean about.
- 4:21Speaker 8: That, But no, cigar, this is my son's silver medal.
- 4:31Speaker 2: You name him after for su poor Canada.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Always always a bridesmaid?
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yes, what if it's a girl? Is he? I mean
- 4:44Speaker 2: you can't? You know? Yeah?
- 4:46Speaker 8: I think Wayne still works.
- 4:48Speaker 2: The great One always works.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Right, the great One? Yeah, that's any gender, right.
- 4:53Speaker 3: So what happened there with the T shirts? Because you
- 4:55Speaker 3: got a free T shirt to go in that that
- 4:57Speaker 3: you used it to clean up all the blood, Like
- 4:59Speaker 3: did you get did you have for a new one
- 5:00Speaker 3: or no?
- 5:01Speaker 4: I was I wasn't too concerned about it at that point.
- 5:04Speaker 4: I was just like, quite honestly, I thank god it well,
- 5:08Speaker 4: you don't want to hit her in the face.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Who I would have.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Rather taken the the puck to the head instead of her.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That's for sure.
- 5:13Speaker 4: I mean, my god, talk about being I mean, just
- 5:17Speaker 4: a towel on her or a T shirt on her
- 5:20Speaker 4: face and go Jesus, we're like, don't give births.
- 5:25Speaker 5: The shirt giveaway is always one of my least favorite
- 5:28Speaker 5: giveaways at a stadium because it's not like they're they're
- 5:31Speaker 5: standing out there with the shirts and like, hey, what
- 5:33Speaker 5: size do you need? They're always just on the seats
- 5:35Speaker 5: and it's like, hey, here's a double extra large, too big.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, oh it's oh, it's your least favorite. You think
- 5:41Speaker 1: I've ever shown up? And there was like, oh, here's
- 5:43Speaker 1: a shirt that's my side.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Right like they used to. I mean, that's for sure.
- 5:49Speaker 4: I went through years in NFL locker rooms. Companies leave
- 5:54Speaker 4: T shirts all the time, and I was told by
- 5:58Speaker 4: my wife at some point stop bringing T shirts and
- 6:00Speaker 4: hats home because we just have too many of them.
- 6:03Speaker 4: So we were never really into the free T shirt thing.
- 6:05Speaker 3: It's the only it's the only thing that radio and
- 6:08Speaker 3: football has in common.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yes, the freebies. Baby, if it's free, it's for me
- 6:15Speaker 1: and give me three.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 3: My wife was like, how many seven ninety the ticket
- 6:19Speaker 3: shirts are you going to bring?
- 6:20Speaker 1: All? So true?
- 6:22Speaker 7: Back when I used to wash my own car. Not
- 6:24Speaker 7: because I'm rich, it's because I'm older. It used to
- 6:27Speaker 7: be nothing but giveaway T shirts.
- 6:28Speaker 8: That was exactly what I would use to wash my car.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yes, why do you use for it?
- 6:32Speaker 2: Right, Mike? Do you wash your own car? Oh? No,
- 6:36Speaker 2: I've got too far right.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I guess I'd washed one side of it. My shoulders
- 6:41Speaker 4: would start screaming, and I'd say, Okay, I'm going to
- 6:43Speaker 4: a car wash, right is he?
- 6:45Speaker 2: Why do you do that?
- 6:46Speaker 8: By the way, you No, No, I used to, but
- 6:48Speaker 8: it's started though, it was, was it?
- 6:50Speaker 7: I mean, somebody just didn't really have that much money back,
- 6:53Speaker 7: I could wash my own car, you know.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I saved time when when my kids were young, I
- 6:57Speaker 4: made them wash the car.
- 6:58Speaker 1: As I said, watched missed the spot.
- 7:01Speaker 3: The least they could do for you, Mike, I mean
- 7:03Speaker 3: exactly right. Let me tell you the one kid who
- 7:05Speaker 3: wasn't washing any car with Sydney. I can promise you that.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I mean Sydney did not partake.
- 7:12Speaker 4: She took your credit card to the car wash, and
- 7:15Speaker 4: to this day she does not partake.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Mike, I'm wondering because you've been to a lot of
- 7:20Speaker 3: great places. You've been to the White House, You've done
- 7:22Speaker 3: a lot of great stuff throughout your media career. Have
- 7:26Speaker 3: you been to Augusta? Have you been to the Masters?
- 7:29Speaker 1: No?
- 7:29Speaker 4: When when Greene and I were doing Mike and Mike
- 7:32Speaker 4: one year, they tried to have us do our show
- 7:35Speaker 4: from inside the gates, Wow, from somewhere on property. And
- 7:40Speaker 4: and that's when the Masters, I think was on ESPN
- 7:43Speaker 4: Radio or whatever, and they were trying to get us
- 7:46Speaker 4: in the gates to do the show, and they would
- 7:49Speaker 4: not let us. They said, like you could, we could
- 7:51Speaker 4: be all right out, we had to be somewhere outside
- 7:54Speaker 4: the gates. And we decided it wasn't worth it if
- 7:56Speaker 4: we couldn't be on property. But yeah, we tried one
- 8:00Speaker 4: time when when we were kind of at the height
- 8:02Speaker 4: of Mike and Mike, were thought, hey, let's take our
- 8:04Speaker 4: shot now, and they were like, no, not happening.
- 8:07Speaker 1: You could be outside the gates with everybody else.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, they don't have around there. I mean the
- 8:12Speaker 3: rules of the room. No, no, they do not know.
- 8:16Speaker 7: If the show is named Michael and Michael, maybe they
- 8:18Speaker 7: let you in a little bit more fun.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah. No, it's interesting because they're perfectly fine.
- 8:23Speaker 3: They didn't let you inside, but they're perfectly fine letting
- 8:25Speaker 3: Jason Kelsey roam around that place.
- 8:27Speaker 4: I mean, geez oh yeah for the par three right, yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 4: I think Jason will will listen. Jason just needs to
- 8:36Speaker 4: be Jason. I mean that's what they hired him for.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I mean, just just do your thing. And you know what,
- 8:41Speaker 4: Augusta may say, we'll never doing that again, or they
- 8:43Speaker 4: may like it, who knows. But Jason just needs to
- 8:45Speaker 4: be himself and do his things.
- 8:47Speaker 3: So you know this because I had this conversation with
- 8:50Speaker 3: Jason Taylor before he went to ESPN, like don't let
- 8:52Speaker 3: them pigeon kell you. No, with Jason Taylor where I
- 8:55Speaker 3: told him, hey, don't let them pigeonhole you into football.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He has a lot more to offer. And it's interesting
- 9:01Speaker 3: with Kelsey. I find that when he's doing stuff like this,
- 9:03Speaker 3: you see the real Jason Kelsey, and when he's doing football,
- 9:07Speaker 3: he kind of sounds like everyone else.
- 9:08Speaker 4: You know, Well, Kelsey, he's kind of the everyman, right.
- 9:12Speaker 4: I mean, he didn't play a glamorous position. He wasn't
- 9:15Speaker 4: an edge rusher or a quarterback. You know, he was
- 9:18Speaker 4: a freaking center. He was an offensive lineman, a bearded
- 9:22Speaker 4: offensive lineman with a gut occasionally. You know, he just
- 9:25Speaker 4: could relate to the every person. Even though obviously he
- 9:29Speaker 4: made a ton of money as a Hall of Famer,
- 9:32Speaker 4: he could relate more to the every person. So he's
- 9:34Speaker 4: a guy that would walk around in a cutoff shirt
- 9:37Speaker 4: and flip flocks and people can relate to that.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he's playing holes now. I mean, Jesus Christ, it's
- 9:41Speaker 2: got the hit one in the water.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I mean, how lucky you? How great is that?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:46Speaker 3: Something I pitched exactly what it is he's doing to
- 9:50Speaker 3: ESPN for seven consecutive years and they.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Said, no, I've hated unbelievab Yeah, yeah nothing.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Well I guess times, I guess times are changing.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he just stuck one close to the Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Really wow, because I I golf with him that you know,
- 10:06Speaker 4: he obviously stew out of Tahoe and we've both been
- 10:10Speaker 4: off the beaten path of the fairways of that course.
- 10:12Speaker 7: Well, he did the thing where you press you know,
- 10:15Speaker 7: your driver or whatever club it is up against your
- 10:17Speaker 7: body and then you just do the side to side motion.
- 10:19Speaker 7: It makes you feel like you know what you're doing there.
- 10:21Speaker 7: And once he did that, I was like, oh, okay,
- 10:22Speaker 7: he knows how to play golf.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, he knows how to stretch the right ways.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Mike, do you have any sort of desire to go
- 10:29Speaker 3: to Augusta or is that not something that you're interested
- 10:31Speaker 3: that really?
- 10:32Speaker 1: You know?
- 10:32Speaker 4: I was at a green and I did our show
- 10:36Speaker 4: at the Houston Open the week before the Masters. We
- 10:39Speaker 4: did our show like on Wednesday and the program day,
- 10:41Speaker 4: and then we played in the pro am and they
- 10:44Speaker 4: asked us if we wanted to hang around. I'm just
- 10:46Speaker 4: I'm not into just walking around on a golf course
- 10:50Speaker 4: and kind of watching. I got to play in the proram,
- 10:53Speaker 4: played with Gary Woodland, actually played two years nice and
- 10:56Speaker 4: one year played with Gary Woodland, who was the nicest
- 10:58Speaker 4: guy in the world. Uh And and playing with those
- 11:02Speaker 4: guys is unbelievable. I mean, being up close and personal
- 11:06Speaker 4: with a pro golfer playing holes with them is just
- 11:10Speaker 4: the their golf shots sound like cannon shots.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Yes, off the tee. It's just it's unbelievable. What a
- 11:16Speaker 1: great experience that was.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Yeah, but no, I never I never really feel what
- 11:19Speaker 4: I felt like standing at one hole and just watching
- 11:22Speaker 4: him come through or walking around.
- 11:24Speaker 1: It doesn't really appeal to me.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Still, I'm kind of with Golic there. My version of
- 11:28Speaker 5: the Masters, My Masters is the Golic subpart Classic.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yes, he's trying to get an invite, Mike, he's sucking
- 11:36Speaker 3: up to you.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Yeah, it's not gonna happen to That's all right,
- 11:40Speaker 1: good try though, we'll try to get next year. Yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 1: that's all right, that's that's a good effort.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Listen to me.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I'll buy a full table, all right, fifteen minutes with
- 11:48Speaker 3: Marcus Freeman. I don't need to talk to him, just
- 11:50Speaker 3: stare at him, all right?
- 11:51Speaker 4: How about well if you just stare at him, that's cool.
- 11:54Speaker 4: If you talk to him, I'm gonna have to rethink
- 11:55Speaker 4: the whole.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 7: I don't think it's stare at somebody for fifteen minutes
- 11:59Speaker 7: at the long time.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I got a time, But he's worth it.
- 12:03Speaker 4: I'll go twenty I mean, yeah, but you gonnap when,
- 12:08Speaker 4: especially when him and Sam Hartman were standing next to
- 12:11Speaker 4: one another when Sam played for US.

- 14:11Speaker 3: You know, golf is so funny, Mike, because if you
- 14:13Speaker 3: have a favorite golfer, what you're rooting for with the
- 14:15Speaker 3: Masters is for it to be a close finish. And
- 14:18Speaker 3: so if your favorite golfer is three or four five
- 14:21Speaker 3: strokes ahead, you're almost on Saturday, You're rooting for that
- 14:24Speaker 3: guy to get a double bogie because you want him
- 14:26Speaker 3: to come back to the field.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 14:29Speaker 4: So the Masters, I'm always rooting for a close competitive
- 14:33Speaker 4: Sunday for the US Open and the Open, not the
- 14:38Speaker 4: British Open.
- 14:38Speaker 1: The Open.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I'm always hoping that the course destroys the players.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yes, and they all play like us. Yes, right.
- 14:47Speaker 4: I don't want to see a fifteen to twenty under
- 14:50Speaker 4: at the UI.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I know, I know you can get a good.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Score at the Masters, even though it's a tough course.
- 14:55Speaker 4: But it's the same course every year, where the US
- 14:58Speaker 4: Open and the Open change, and God, the Open. I
- 15:02Speaker 4: pray for wind and rain, sideways rain. I pray that
- 15:06Speaker 4: they have to golf like us. That's what I'm looking
- 15:09Speaker 4: for for the US Open and the Open. I'm just
- 15:10Speaker 4: looking for absolute death march by the players.
- 15:13Speaker 7: Listen, you touched on something that just really annoys me.
- 15:17Speaker 7: Why can't we call it the British Open. Why does
- 15:19Speaker 7: it have to be called the Open? And then we
- 15:21Speaker 7: have to clarify, Oh, it's the British Open.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yeah, why do we have to call it the US Open? Right?
- 15:26Speaker 2: Right? Yeah, exactly right? Just call it the Open.
- 15:29Speaker 7: And I'm also forty eight years old, and I don't
- 15:31Speaker 7: care how many times I hear it. I have no
- 15:33Speaker 7: idea what it means to play on the links course
- 15:36Speaker 7: or what difficulties have become playing on a links course.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I don't know what that mean.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Let me tell you what. Yeah, links are another world.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yes they are.
- 15:43Speaker 4: That's one of those where they usually have caddies where
- 15:46Speaker 4: you play links where you need one because if you
- 15:48Speaker 4: don't know the course, yes, you'll be out there all.
- 15:51Speaker 8: Can you explain it to me like I'm five years old?
- 15:52Speaker 3: Though, Wait, tailor put it on the poll. Links golf
- 15:55Speaker 3: different world it is. It's an entirely different sport.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Mike is right about this.
- 16:01Speaker 1: It's just you. You.
- 16:02Speaker 4: You hit, You try and probably hit more for amateurs,
- 16:05Speaker 4: hit more low shots, or I guess you could do
- 16:08Speaker 4: higher shots to kind of place the ball. But if
- 16:10Speaker 4: you want the ball to run, you hit low shots
- 16:12Speaker 4: and it'll just run forever. It's usually a hilly or
- 16:16Speaker 4: moundy fair way, and good luck putting it on the
- 16:21Speaker 4: green and having it stick right.
- 16:22Speaker 1: It's just not gonna happen.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah, the entire you'll hit a great shot, it'll go
- 16:27Speaker 4: on the green and friggin roll forty feet off the green.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Yeah. But the good news is you can put from
- 16:31Speaker 2: like fifty yards off the green too.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. That is very true. You could.
- 16:36Speaker 4: You can do a lot of putt from off or
- 16:38Speaker 4: bump and run. Yes, you know from from off you
- 16:40Speaker 4: can bump and run from like one hundred and twenty yards.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Right, Taylor has a Master's hypothetical. I would like to
- 16:47Speaker 3: I would like to entertain you with Taylor.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Go ahead here. What is the hypothetical?
- 16:51Speaker 5: So this question comes from Matt to Frosty on Twitter.
- 16:55Speaker 5: The hypotheticals would you rather play Augusta National one time,
- 16:59Speaker 5: all the bells and whistles included, or you have a
- 17:02Speaker 5: lifetime pass to every single round of the Masters?
- 17:06Speaker 3: All right, So I don't think Mike is really interested
- 17:08Speaker 3: in going to the Masters. I've been to the Masters.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I would choose playing Augusta once Mike, Well, wait, just.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Going as a fan?
- 17:16Speaker 4: Yeah, for a lifetime you have a play Well, I
- 17:18Speaker 4: play play at once?
- 17:19Speaker 2: Right for sure? Wow?
- 17:20Speaker 1: Really I'll just get that.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Can go to the Masters and I'll be good.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there you go.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I have no want to sit around and watch.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I just want to play.
- 17:32Speaker 4: I want to sit around a watch. It's going to
- 17:33Speaker 4: be on my couch where I can fall asleep for
- 17:35Speaker 4: a while if I.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Want, Mike, I will say this, Okay.
- 17:38Speaker 3: There are very few places that you can go to
- 17:40Speaker 3: this day and age where you're not allowed to bring
- 17:43Speaker 3: the phone in.
- 17:44Speaker 1: If there is a reason.
- 17:45Speaker 2: For you to go to Augusta, it's for you to
- 17:47Speaker 2: put that phone away.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Sidney can't call you, The Missus can't call you, Mike
- 17:51Speaker 3: Junior can't call it, Jake can't call it. No one
- 17:54Speaker 3: Feagles can't call you, No one can no one can
- 17:58Speaker 3: call you, Mike, nobody.
- 18:00Speaker 4: And and you get drinks and food for a very
- 18:04Speaker 4: fair price. Yes, yes, they keep those prices low, which
- 18:07Speaker 4: is which is really nice. So you're right, there is
- 18:10Speaker 4: some solitude to it. Maybe I would go just for
- 18:12Speaker 4: the solitude and not even care about the golf.
- 18:14Speaker 8: Can I throw my club or is that a no?
- 18:18Speaker 2: You can't your mind Jesus so much.
- 18:22Speaker 5: My problem with playing Augusta would be I'm just not
- 18:25Speaker 5: that very good at golf, and Stu I've seen you. Yes,
- 18:28Speaker 5: you're telling me you would have fun shooting like one
- 18:31Speaker 5: fifty Augusta.
- 18:32Speaker 3: No I had, no, I would not. I would have
- 18:34Speaker 3: fun just playing Augusta though, like drink. Yeah, that's it.
- 18:37Speaker 3: It's not about the score.
- 18:39Speaker 4: We know it's going and plus it's way hillier than
- 18:42Speaker 4: people think, Yes, way hillier.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Yes, uh no, I would, I would. The score would
- 18:47Speaker 1: be horrific.
- 18:47Speaker 4: It would just be for the the joy and the
- 18:50Speaker 4: beauty of playing.
- 18:51Speaker 7: I'm kind of with you, even though I'm I'm terrible
- 18:53Speaker 7: if I shoot a two hundred. But the idea of
- 18:56Speaker 7: like I get to go every year sounds great until
- 18:58Speaker 7: you're in your like sixty, You're like, damn it, I
- 19:01Speaker 7: wish I had my phone on me, Like, why do
- 19:03Speaker 7: they have my phone?
- 19:04Speaker 8: You just get annoyed by it. I'm with you, I just.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Played with You're seeing the same thing every single year.
- 19:08Speaker 4: I'm like, you gotta be golf crazed to do that.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Nothing gets you ready, nothing, and I mean nothing like
- 19:14Speaker 3: the voice of tom Ronaldi talking about Augusta.
- 19:17Speaker 1: That so true. That's the complexation of the voice. Yes,
- 19:24Speaker 1: when you're covering golf.
- 19:25Speaker 7: Hello, Yeah, I think that's how Rinaldi came up with
- 19:29Speaker 7: his with his cadence is just how would I talk
- 19:31Speaker 7: if I was at the Masters.
- 19:32Speaker 3: No doubt, Mike listened to this again, because the pause
- 19:35Speaker 3: is absolutely amazing.
- 19:36Speaker 2: You could drive a golf cart through it.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Go ahead, that's Augusta. Both awesome. That's awesome. Yeah, no, Mike, that's.
- 19:49Speaker 2: So Mike.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I would go in with the expectation if I played Augusta,
- 19:52Speaker 3: then I'm going to shoot around a one.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Fifty, you know, and anything better than that I'd be
- 19:56Speaker 2: happy with.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Oh, there's listen.
- 19:59Speaker 4: I I was fortunate enough for a Notre Dame event
- 20:02Speaker 4: to play Pebble Beach two years ago, and again it
- 20:06Speaker 4: was about the beauty and the view and just prayed.
- 20:11Speaker 4: You know, the mistake we all make is we all
- 20:13Speaker 4: try and play like pros. Is we're in the fairway. Hey,
- 20:17Speaker 4: if we're in the fairway, we're happy. And b we
- 20:20Speaker 4: shoot for the pin, all the pins in the upper
- 20:22Speaker 4: left corner, right for the pen.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Why the hell are you shooting for the pin? Shooting
- 20:27Speaker 1: you get on the green right, So all of a sudden, yes, and.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Whenever I get close, I always take my fifty six
- 20:35Speaker 4: and try and do exactly what the pros do.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Knock it up high and drop it. I just learned
- 20:40Speaker 1: take my seven iron.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Now, as long as there's no no sand in front
- 20:43Speaker 4: of it and just bump it up there, I have
- 20:45Speaker 4: the way better chance of getting closer to the hole
- 20:47Speaker 4: than trying to place a lob shot.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yeah, why do we do that?
- 20:50Speaker 3: It's like if you put Jordan's speed on the football
- 20:53Speaker 3: field he tries to do a swim move.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:57Speaker 8: I'm not trying to dumb, but we all do it.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Believable, it really is. I would choke.
- 21:05Speaker 4: So badly, and plus the dimmits I would take out.
- 21:08Speaker 4: The caddy would probably just put my bag down and leave.
- 21:12Speaker 3: I'll tell you a quick story Pinehurst too to your
- 21:14Speaker 3: point about just doing what the caddy tells you to do.
- 21:17Speaker 2: I'm on the first hole.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I nail my drive Mike and I'm like one hundred
- 21:20Speaker 3: and thirty app and he's telling me, do not aim
- 21:23Speaker 3: at the pin. Do not aim at the pin. And
- 21:26Speaker 3: I'm like, I didn't come here to not pinhunt. Again,
- 21:29Speaker 3: I'm fighting with the caddy and he's like, listen, if
- 21:31Speaker 3: you try to go for the hole, it's not going
- 21:33Speaker 3: to stay on the green. Hit it about twenty yards
- 21:36Speaker 3: out to the left and let it kind of funnel in.
- 21:38Speaker 3: And I said, no, I came here. It's Pinehurst too,
- 21:42Speaker 3: you know, I traveled to get here. I'm excited to play.
- 21:45Speaker 3: I am putting this thing right by the pin. I
- 21:47Speaker 3: hit a beautiful eight iron right to the pin and
- 21:50Speaker 3: you can't see. It's a blind shot. And I stared
- 21:53Speaker 3: at the caddy and I'm like, what do you got now?
- 21:55Speaker 2: Huh? And he said, you're gonna be twenty five yards
- 21:58Speaker 2: off the green.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Really. I walked up expecting my ball to be in
- 22:03Speaker 3: the hole, all right, and I didn't see it.
- 22:06Speaker 2: And I told the caddy, I think it's in the hole.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I think it's in the hole.
- 22:09Speaker 3: He's like, it's not. I know exactly where it is.
- 22:11Speaker 3: You're twenty five yards off the greed. And lo and behold,
- 22:13Speaker 3: I was twenty five yards off the greed. Yes, those caddies.
- 22:18Speaker 4: When Mike and myself and Trey were doing the show
- 22:21Speaker 4: after Mike and Mike at ESPN, we had a contest
- 22:24Speaker 4: to take a bunch of listeners and golfers to Pinehurst
- 22:27Speaker 4: for a couple of days. It was a great trip,
- 22:30Speaker 4: and we all had caddies and we were all kind
- 22:33Speaker 4: of drinking, and the caddies were as well, and we
- 22:38Speaker 4: were on the tea box, and sure enough, one of
- 22:40Speaker 4: the guys, one of the winners, was like talking to
- 22:42Speaker 4: a caddy, all right, so where do I put it
- 22:44Speaker 4: on from the tea box? And he's going on and
- 22:47Speaker 4: on about putting it, and the caddies said, hit it
- 22:50Speaker 4: where they cut the grass. You know, it was as
- 22:53Speaker 4: simple as just hit it where they cut the grass. Yes,
- 22:56Speaker 4: that means you're on the fairway and you got a shot. Yes,
- 22:59Speaker 4: I'll never forget that. I'm like, it's so simple yet
- 23:03Speaker 4: so hard.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yes, Mike, I thought it was in the hole. I
- 23:06Speaker 2: got a seven.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Oh that that is you thought you out smart and
- 23:10Speaker 4: a freaking candy and Pinehurst I did.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I'm a jackass, all right, Mike. Uh, have a good day.
- 23:19Speaker 3: We appreciate you doing.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Have a good day.
- 23:21Speaker 1: We appreciate you doing this.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I didn't know another way out. I'm I'm sitting there
- 23:24Speaker 2: watching the par three.
- 23:26Speaker 3: You know what, I find myself getting insanely jealous at
- 23:29Speaker 3: Marty Smith and everyone who's covering this tournament.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I wish I would have That's all anyway.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Mate, you know what, it probably would be nice to
- 23:36Speaker 4: do it once, yes, right, for the experience, yes, and
- 23:40Speaker 4: then after that probably nothing to it because I don't
- 23:43Speaker 4: even know.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Can you like smoke cigars?
- 23:46Speaker 2: I'm not well.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I mean I could tell you I had a few
- 23:49Speaker 3: heaters when I went, so I'm not certain.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but I was hiding. I'll tell you that.
- 23:53Speaker 1: That's the thing.
- 23:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I wonder if you can openly smoke a cigar
- 23:56Speaker 4: while you're I don't mean like in the tournament, I
- 23:58Speaker 4: mean if you're like just playing there.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I was having a heater behind the cabin and Rob
- 24:02Speaker 2: Manford walked by me.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I was freaking out, and he had a green jacket on.
- 24:06Speaker 3: It was opening day. He said, hey, Rob, get to work.
- 24:08Speaker 3: What are you doing here? I mean, and he had
- 24:11Speaker 3: a heater too. Oh alright, have a good day.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That'll do it.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I have a good day.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Thanks Mike. Hey you guys,
