  Speaker 1: Ring Final, and WWE is batting a thousand. As far

  Speaker 1: as all of the key matches go, but none bigger
• 0:21
  Speaker 1: than what we just saw in the main event. This
• 0:24
  Speaker 1: went from being just another show to being a very
• 0:26
  Speaker 1: newsworthy show after what happened in the main event, which

  Speaker 1: was a triple threat match Cody Rhodes, Gunther and Sammy
• 0:34
  Speaker 1: Zain for the WWE Championship. This was the natural outgrowth
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: of everything that we've seen over the last few weeks.

  Speaker 1: We've already seen Cody and Gunther, Sammy Zay the whole
• 0:44
  Speaker 1: last real good guy thing. He's kind of worked his
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: way into this story, and so a triple thread only
• 0:49
  Speaker 1: made sense for this show. And coming into the show,

  Speaker 1: I said, you know what I would like to see.

  Speaker 1: I would like to see Cody Rhodes drop the WWE Championship.

  Speaker 1: But it was very clear it was not going to

  Speaker 1: beat a gun Th. Sure, I would love to see

  Speaker 1: Cody Roach drop the championship to Sammy's Ain. And I

  Speaker 1: couldn't even believe I was sitting here saying that, because

  Speaker 1: six months ago, if you would have told me that, hey,

  Speaker 1: you know what I think we should do. I think

  Speaker 1: we should put the World Championship on Sammy's Ain, I
• 1:15
  Speaker 1: would have said, you're out of your fucking mind. It

  Speaker 1: is incredible. This is a great example of just how

  Speaker 1: important a simple character tweak, a simple character change can

  Speaker 1: be in someone's career, because think of where this man

  Speaker 1: was at the beginning of the year. In fact, we

  Speaker 1: can go back even further. We are living in the

  Speaker 1: year twenty twenty six and I do believe it was

  Speaker 1: twenty sixteen when Sammy's Ain officially made his way to

  Speaker 1: the main roster. I think it was twenty fifteen when

  Speaker 1: he had that unfortunate, you know, injury when he wrestled

  Speaker 1: John Cena and he tore his freaking rotator cuff flailing

  Speaker 1: his arms around. By twenty sixteen, this man was on

  Speaker 1: the main roster. He's been there for a decade. And

  Speaker 1: Sammy's Ain has always been that guy, right, great worker,

  Speaker 1: He's a great wrestler, he's a good hand, he's a

  Speaker 1: good guy to put in there, maybe against the champion, right,

  Speaker 1: but he's not the champion. He doesn't look like a champion.

  Speaker 1: He doesn't look like somebody that you would build around.

  Speaker 1: He's not going to be the face of a brand.

  Speaker 1: He's the guy who works with the guy. Right. That

  Speaker 1: was kind of the rap on Sammy's a Right, Tag

  Speaker 1: Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion, United States Champion. The thing about

  Speaker 1: Sammy though, is that whatever you give him, he takes

  Speaker 1: it and he knocks it out of the park. He

  Speaker 1: did that recently with the US Title Open Challenge stuff

  Speaker 1: last year. He's the one who really got that going.

  Speaker 1: You went from him to Dragon Off, from Dragging Off
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: to Carmelo Hayes. But it was Sammy's Ain who really
• 2:45
  Speaker 1: got things in motion with that, and it was some
• 2:47
  Speaker 1: of the best television on SmackDown late last year. The
• 2:52
  Speaker 1: Bloodline stuff, need I say more? The Bloodline stuff was
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: obviously a much larger story, and I'm not saying it

  Speaker 1: was a terrible story. But when Sammy z Ain, the

  Speaker 1: whole Sammy USO thing, right, when Sammy z Ain came
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: into the picture, holy shit, I mean, did that not

  Speaker 1: level it up, you know, one level above whatever it
• 3:12
  Speaker 1: was they were doing before. He added a dimension and
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: an element to that that was very entertaining and really
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: took the Bloodline story to that next level. The bloodline

  Speaker 1: story does not work as well if they don't essentially
• 3:25
  Speaker 1: luck into the whole Sammy USO thing. So he was
• 3:29
  Speaker 1: very instrumental in that. He was part of that story.

  Speaker 1: He ended up getting a main event spot, He got
• 3:36
  Speaker 1: a main event win, won the tag team Championships in
• 3:40
  Speaker 1: the main event of WrestleMania. It's had a lot of achievements,

  Speaker 1: a lot of accomplishments in his career, but now he
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: can add one more to that list. Now he can
• 3:48
  Speaker 1: call himself WWE Champion. I didn't think they'd have the
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: balls to do it. In fact, when SmackDown was over
• 3:55
  Speaker 1: last night, I had this feeling that as much as
• 3:59
  Speaker 1: I want want to see Sammy win, this did not
• 4:01
  Speaker 1: come off to me like a show that was building
• 4:04
  Speaker 1: to a Sammy's ain title win. I came out of

  Speaker 1: that show last night thinking, boy, it sure feels to
• 4:09
  Speaker 1: me like they may just keep the belt on Cody
• 4:12
  Speaker 1: and we're not going to get any change at all.

  Speaker 1: And I was kind of hoping it would go a
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: different way, but I was not terribly optimistic about it.

  Speaker 1: Sammy's ain went out there in the main event tonight,

  Speaker 1: a man who only a few months ago, I want
• 4:30
  Speaker 1: to point this out to you, he was feuding with
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: Trick Williams and the gingerbread Man. In fact, he showed
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: up one week dressed up as the gingerbread Man. This
• 4:43
  Speaker 1: was only two months ago, three months ago. This wasn't
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: that far. This wasn't that far in the past that
• 4:48
  Speaker 1: we were doing the gingerbread Man stuff. Okay, I had
• 4:51
  Speaker 1: a funeral on SmackDown the SmackDown review last night that
• 4:55
  Speaker 1: I think was more entertaining than the gingerbread Man funeral
• 4:58
  Speaker 1: a few months ago. But that's the kind of stuff

  Speaker 1: that Sammy's Aim was doing not that long ago. The
• 5:05
  Speaker 1: reactions to him began to change, and to me, this
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: is a great example of something where you kind of
• 5:10
  Speaker 1: luck into it. There is this organic, natural response from
• 5:15
  Speaker 1: the audience where Sammy starts getting booed, but it's not
• 5:19
  Speaker 1: like total complete booze. It's not like he's coming out
• 5:23
  Speaker 1: there and getting dominic mysterio heat or anything like that.
• 5:26
  Speaker 1: But the reactions are changing and I'm sure Sammy in
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: real life is looking at this and he's he's how
• 5:32
  Speaker 1: can it not bother you? Right, He's probably looking this
• 5:34
  Speaker 1: and going, hmm, this is kind of strange. But then
• 5:36
  Speaker 1: if you're someone like Sammy's ain who's been doing this
• 5:38
  Speaker 1: for a long time, you realize pretty quickly, hey, we
• 5:41
  Speaker 1: may have something here. We may be able to parlay
• 5:43
  Speaker 1: this into something that could actually end up being a
• 5:46
  Speaker 1: really good thing for me. So let's just lean into
• 5:49
  Speaker 1: it and see where it goes. And hence the whole

  Speaker 1: you know, last real good guy stuff that he's been
• 5:53
  Speaker 1: doing where he's a heel but maybe not like one
• 5:56
  Speaker 1: hundred percent. You know, he comes out, he talks about
• 5:59
  Speaker 1: his right or fans. It was just an interesting change

  Speaker 1: to his character from what he had been doing previously.

  Speaker 1: But it just worked out so well. And the title

  Speaker 1: scene on SmackDown has been so lackluster they moved Gunther

  Speaker 1: over from Rowda SmackDown to try to fix the problem
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: because coming out of WrestleMania, they didn't have Drew MacIntyre,

  Speaker 1: and you couldn't well go back to Cody and Drew anyway,

  Speaker 1: you already play that out. They didn't have Randy Orton,
• 6:29
  Speaker 1: who I take it really is hurt. I saw he
• 6:33
  Speaker 1: just got pulled from a fanatics fest. He pulled out
• 6:35
  Speaker 1: a Fanatics Fest which is coming up in a few weeks.
• 6:37
  Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on with him. That story,
• 6:40
  Speaker 1: to me is a dead story. I mean, sure, they
• 6:41
  Speaker 1: could always revisit it, but the level of interest in
• 6:45
  Speaker 1: excitement that I had finally for a Cody and Randy
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: story was ruined. They fucked it all up at WrestleMania.
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: So even if they revisit it one day, I don't
• 6:56
  Speaker 1: know that I'm going to have the same level of
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: enthusiasm for it. You know, they kind of botched the
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: whole thing up there. But then Randy Orton, you know,
• 7:02
  Speaker 1: punted Cody in the head. He hasn't been seen since WrestleMania.
• 7:05
  Speaker 1: So they had to shift Gunther over. With any hope
• 7:09
  Speaker 1: they'll move CM Punk over. I've been saying that for
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: a long time. It sounds like that is what they're
• 7:13
  Speaker 1: gonna do. They have to, they have to. Monday Night
• 7:18
  Speaker 1: Raw is the Roman Rain show, it is the Bloodline show,
• 7:21
  Speaker 1: and we already had a WrestleMania main event with Punk
• 7:23
  Speaker 1: and Roman Punk. He could use the change in scenery.

  Speaker 1: But for the time being, we were, you know, dealing
• 7:30
  Speaker 1: with Cody and Gunther, and Cody had already beaten him,
• 7:33
  Speaker 1: and then they had the rematch on TV right a
• 7:35
  Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago or a week ago, whatever it was,
• 7:39
  Speaker 1: and it was all done in a way that's set
• 7:41
  Speaker 1: up the match that we had here on this show.

  Speaker 1: The one negative as I look at these three men,
• 7:48
  Speaker 1: and I look at Gunther specifically, is the aura that
• 7:52
  Speaker 1: this man has lost, that he has shed in the
• 7:56
  Speaker 1: six months since he beat aj Styles, in the seven
• 8:00
  Speaker 1: since he retired John Cena. He was the man that
• 8:03
  Speaker 1: they chose. He was the man that John Cena said, Hey,
• 8:07
  Speaker 1: not only are we gonna work together and you're gonna
• 8:10
  Speaker 1: beat me, I have an idea for how I'd like
• 8:13
  Speaker 1: to go out right, I'm gonna give up. They bestowed
• 8:19
  Speaker 1: that upon Gunther. Look at where he is now, and
• 8:23
  Speaker 1: you honestly tell me, okay, you honestly tell me that
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: Gunther in June of twenty twenty six still feels the
• 8:31
  Speaker 1: same way that he felt in December or January of
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: this year. He doesn't. And I don't know how they
• 8:40
  Speaker 1: get that back. Not saying they can't, but I'm saying

  Speaker 1: what they had, it's kind of gone away, and I

  Speaker 1: didn't really have much of an interest at this point.

  Speaker 1: And even seeing Gunther win the championship from Cody but

  Speaker 1: Sammy that interested me because you can go in a

  Speaker 1: lot of different directions with that, not just because oh,

  Speaker 1: you know, I like Sammy, or because oh he deserves it.

  Speaker 1: He hasn't been the champion yet. You know, sometimes people

  Speaker 1: don't win the championship, but there are times where it
• 9:08
  Speaker 1: just makes sense to me. This is a moment in
• 9:10
  Speaker 1: time here where it made sense to shake things up
• 9:12
  Speaker 1: a little bit here on the road to Summer Slim.

  Speaker 1: I don't see the harm in doing it instead of
• 9:18
  Speaker 1: just playing the status quo. This now shakes up the

  Speaker 1: title picture on SmackDown in a way that makes things

  Speaker 1: interesting because we look ahead now to Summer Slam, we're
• 9:27
  Speaker 1: not exactly sure what the main event is going to
• 9:30
  Speaker 1: look like on the SmackDown side. Are we looking at
• 9:33
  Speaker 1: a scenario where we get Cody and Sammy in a
• 9:37
  Speaker 1: rematch one on one? I think that's very likely. I

  Speaker 1: cannot imagine a Summer Slim main event this year that
• 9:42
  Speaker 1: does not have Cody Roads in it. Are we looking
• 9:45
  Speaker 1: at a scenario where the new King of the Ring

  Speaker 1: is going to choose to go after Sammy and his championship.

  Speaker 1: Are we looking at something maybe completely off the wall

  Speaker 1: that we may not even be thinking of. Are we

  Speaker 1: even looking at Sammy's aing going into Summer Slam as

  Speaker 1: the champion? Are we looking at a situation where Sammy

  Speaker 1: Zane doesn't make it out of Saturday Night's main event

  Speaker 1: as the WWE champion. All of these options are now

  Speaker 1: on the table, and I welcome it because SmackDown could

  Speaker 1: use a real kick in the ass. It can use

  Speaker 1: a shot in the arm and a little unpredictability, and

  Speaker 1: I feel like, now that's what we have at least

  Speaker 1: in the main event scene here here on SmackDown. But again,

  Speaker 1: like I'm just thinking back to, you know, where we

  Speaker 1: were coming out of WrestleMania and where we are now,

  Speaker 1: and Gunther is there and Punk is likely coming in,

  Speaker 1: Sammy is the champion, you still got Cody in the mix,

  Speaker 1: and I don't know who else they may want to

  Speaker 1: throw in there. But all of a sudden, you've got
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: You've got something I think that people can at least
• 10:48
  Speaker 1: talk talk about and discuss in terms of like, I

  Speaker 1: don't know exactly where this is going to go. I

  Speaker 1: personally just look at that as a good thing. I

  Speaker 1: thought the main event tonight on this show easily the

  Speaker 1: best thing on the entire show. I knew coming in.

  Speaker 1: gonna get a great match. That's also why I like

  Speaker 1: the idea of them doing a triple threat, right, you

  Speaker 1: exactly what we got. Great drama down the line. It

  Speaker 1: was it really I think stood out more so because

  Speaker 1: there were so many other things on this show that

  Speaker 1: came off so flat. And I can't even just blame

  Speaker 1: the crowd. The crowd was the crowd was very quiet

  Speaker 1: for a lot of the undercard, right of course, when

  Speaker 1: the big stars were out there. Sammy of course is
• 11:32
  Speaker 1: always beloved when he goes over to Saudi Cody Oba.

  Speaker 1: There were people like that who got I'm not saying
• 11:39
  Speaker 1: that they didn't get reactions, but so much on this
• 11:42
  Speaker 1: show the product came across so cold, like ice cold,

  Speaker 1: like rigamortis cold. But for a couple of matches on

  Speaker 1: the entire show, I didn't think this was a good show. Overall,

  Speaker 1: I was pretty fucking bored for most of it. The

  Speaker 1: big highlight of the show was that main event and

  Speaker 1: the main event finish, and again I liked the fact

  Speaker 1: that they batted a thousand. As far as I think

  Speaker 1: the outcomes for the key matches on the show, they

  Speaker 1: got it right when it came to the key matches

  Speaker 1: on this show, and some people may disagree when it

  Speaker 1: comes to the Seth and bron breaker match, although I

  Speaker 1: didn't look at that as one of the key matches

  Speaker 1: on this show, but where it mattered, where it counted,

  Speaker 1: I thought they got it right. I'm also just tickled

  Speaker 1: every time Michael Cole, and this is not the first

  Speaker 1: time he's done this, but Michael Cole has taken There's

  Speaker 1: been somebody strays that Wemby has taken, including another one

  Speaker 1: on commentary tonight during the main event from Michael Cole.

  Speaker 1: Rhades may have said on SmackDown last night, Kevin Owens

  Speaker 1: has never been WWE champion. Sammy's Ain actually won the

  Speaker 1: WWE title before Kevin Owens did. If ever there was

  Speaker 1: a good time for him to pop back up on TV,

  Speaker 1: this would be it. It might be wishful thinking, but who knows.

  Speaker 1: I guess it depends on how long Sammy holds that

  Speaker 1: championship for. But then the other thing outside of the

  Speaker 1: WWE title that this show was built around, right, let

  Speaker 1: talk about the King of the Ring without a crown.

  Speaker 1: So I only feel it's appropriate here that we placed

  Speaker 1: this on the royal head. Yeah. I think back on

  Speaker 1: these King of the Ring tournaments over the years, the

  Speaker 1: televised ones, they go all the way back to nineteen

  Speaker 1: ninety three, and we've gotten some really good finals over
• 14:19
  Speaker 1: the years. The first one, you know, Brett Hard and
• 14:22
  Speaker 1: Bam Bam Bigelow back in ninety three, the Rock and
• 14:26
  Speaker 1: Ken Shamrock in nineteen ninety eight, Kurt Angle and Edge
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: in two thousand and one. I'm gonna throw it in there.

  Speaker 1: Baron Corbin and Chad Gable on Raw in the finals

  Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen, I thought, and that went like almost

  Speaker 1: twenty minutes. I thought they had a hell of a

  Speaker 1: match that year. Randy Orton and Gunther a couple of
• 14:45
  Speaker 1: years ago. So we've had some really good King of
• 14:48
  Speaker 1: the Ring finals. Unfortunately, we've had more bad ones than
• 14:52
  Speaker 1: good ones. I would even say the vast majority of
• 14:56
  Speaker 1: these King of the Ring finals have been very underwhelming,
• 14:59
  Speaker 1: very disappointing, or just flat out not good. And unfortunately,
• 15:04
  Speaker 1: I think that the one that we had here on
• 15:06
  Speaker 1: this show falls into that latter category, the unforgettable, right,
• 15:11
  Speaker 1: the unforgettable and the forgettable. It falls into the forgettable category.

  Speaker 1: There was nothing memorable about the King of the Ring
• 15:18
  Speaker 1: final or the Queen of the Ring final on this show.

  Speaker 1: In fact, you have these tournaments that build to these
• 15:25
  Speaker 1: big finales and it just feels like another match on

  Speaker 1: the show. And so that sucks because you would hope

  Speaker 1: at a tournament like it would really build to the big

  Speaker 1: climactic finale and there would be something about that match
• 15:36
  Speaker 1: that stands out, whether it's just a bangor wrestling match
• 15:39
  Speaker 1: or there's just great drama or something big, like there's
• 15:43
  Speaker 1: got to be something to it, and there really wasn't.

  Speaker 1: I will say I will say this though they went

  Speaker 1: the way of the Continental Classic, they took a page
• 15:55
  Speaker 1: out of aw with the way that they did these
• 15:57
  Speaker 1: tournaments this year, or at least it worked out that

  Speaker 1: way where it out with the Continental Title and the

  Speaker 1: Continental Classic stuff. There's no outside interference allowed, I thought

  Speaker 1: for sure, and at least one, if not both of
• 16:09
  Speaker 1: these matches we were going to get somebody getting involved.

  Speaker 1: There was going to be interference from the judgment day

  Speaker 1: trying to help live Morgan brock Lesnar was going to

  Speaker 1: show up and he was going to try to fuck

  Speaker 1: over Obafemi, and it was kind of refreshing. We didn't
• 16:20
  Speaker 1: get any of that. We had two matches here in
• 16:22
  Speaker 1: these finals where nobody got involved. It was just there
• 16:26
  Speaker 1: and maybe you thought that made it boring. I don't know,
• 16:28
  Speaker 1: but like it made for a clean finish in both
• 16:31
  Speaker 1: cases where it's like, oh okay, that was kind of
• 16:35
  Speaker 1: a pleasant surprise that I wasn't really expecting. But yes,
• 16:40
  Speaker 1: Brock Lesnar did not show up on this show the
• 16:42
  Speaker 1: judgment day outside of live did not show up here
• 16:46
  Speaker 1: on this show. There was no interference and they got
• 16:49
  Speaker 1: it right. Everybody was so worried, myself included that they

  Speaker 1: were going to go with King Yeat on this show.

  Speaker 1: We were gonna get jay Usso challenging for one of

  Speaker 1: the world championships at Summerslim. They were gonna get cute.

  Speaker 1: They were gonna have Brock interfear. We're gonna get Brock
