Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike klaan final home game of the regular season,
- 0:03Speaker 1: Crack and then won their last two. Nick A Coco
- 0:06Speaker 1: put together a very strong performance and his first NHL
- 0:09Speaker 1: start two nights ago against Calgary. Just take us through
- 0:11Speaker 1: that performance and what you thought of the team's play.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought I thought our team played well defensively.
- 0:18Speaker 2: You know, we chart chances internally every game. I think
- 0:22Speaker 2: it was probably the second game all year that we
- 0:24Speaker 2: didn't give them any a chances at all during the
- 0:27Speaker 2: entire game. So guys did a good job of protecting,
- 0:30Speaker 2: you know, protecting our net, protecting our net front, and
- 0:33Speaker 2: certainly when our goaltender had to make a save, you know,
- 0:38Speaker 2: he made it. So you know, it was a good,
- 0:40Speaker 2: solid team effort.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It was a tough spot for the goaltenders to be
- 0:43Speaker 1: put in. All three NHL goaltenders were out dealing with
- 0:46Speaker 1: various things and you call up both of your AHL
- 0:49Speaker 1: guys and nik A Coco called in. He performed wells.
- 0:52Speaker 1: What did you think of his play given the spot
- 0:55Speaker 1: that he was put in.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I think that you know, he had
- 0:59Speaker 2: enough time to be aware of the spot that he
- 1:02Speaker 2: was going to be put in, and certainly you know,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I thought I thought he played well. I thought he
- 1:08Speaker 2: settled in. You know, the first save was a little
- 1:11Speaker 2: interesting for me, but you know, he settled right in
- 1:15Speaker 2: from that standpoint and looked like he was tracking the
- 1:18Speaker 2: puck pretty well.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I know, you've got three games left in the regular season,
- 1:22Speaker 1: but this is the last home game, so just wrapping
- 1:24Speaker 1: up your first year here at home for Seattle, Just
- 1:27Speaker 1: what are your impressions on these fans? Seattle is a
- 1:30Speaker 1: hockey town. You yourself, coming from Toronto, you want a
- 1:33Speaker 1: Cup in Washington, now here in a market where they're
- 1:37Speaker 1: still trying to grow the game. Just what do you
- 1:39Speaker 1: notice about the fans here in Seattle to the people
- 1:41Speaker 1: in this market.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, no, you know, when I first took the job,
- 1:45Speaker 2: I you know, I knew, at least I thought I
- 1:48Speaker 2: knew what I was coming into. And you know, passionate
- 1:51Speaker 2: fan base, a fan base, it's supportive, you know, and
- 1:55Speaker 2: I certainly have witnessed that all season long. You know,
- 2:00Speaker 2: you make no mistake about it. We've had some struggles
- 2:03Speaker 2: at home, and I think that you know, there's times
- 2:07Speaker 2: when you know, the fans have gone on us a
- 2:10Speaker 2: little bit, which was warranted, But for the most part,
- 2:14Speaker 2: it's been you know, full support all the time, and
- 2:17Speaker 2: they're loud. You know, they love their team, you know,
- 2:21Speaker 2: and it starts right on from the anthem singer all
- 2:24Speaker 2: the way down. So it's a it's a pretty cool
- 2:27Speaker 2: experience to come to a hockey game in Seattle and
- 2:30Speaker 2: to you know, play in a hockey game in Seattle
- 2:33Speaker 2: and our players are lucky.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Jansea Copachar will be playing his last game in Seattle
- 2:37Speaker 1: here tonight. And I know that you maybe haven't had
- 2:39Speaker 1: a chance to coach against him a lot, But as
- 2:43Speaker 1: as a student of the game yourself, just what do
- 2:45Speaker 1: you notice about him as a player and how important
- 2:49Speaker 1: and valuable he's been not only to the Kings but
- 2:52Speaker 1: to this league for the last twenty years.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, I mean, you know, I've I've been in the
- 2:57Speaker 2: league long enough that I've seen a decent amount and
- 3:00Speaker 2: even though it's only been a couple of times each year,
- 3:03Speaker 2: you know, and then you watch them win Stanley Cups,
- 3:05Speaker 2: and you know, as a coach, you certainly appreciate the
- 3:09Speaker 2: way he plays the game. He just plays the game
- 3:12Speaker 2: the right way. He doesn't cheat the game, and he's
- 3:16Speaker 2: always responsible, you know, and he does it on both
- 3:19Speaker 2: sides of the puck. And you know he doesn't like
- 3:24Speaker 2: I say, he doesn't cheat for offense and leave defense
- 3:27Speaker 2: in the dust. He's just a complete two hundred foot
- 3:31Speaker 2: player that has been one of the best at his
- 3:33Speaker 2: position in the game.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It's the last ride for this team here in this
- 3:36Speaker 1: building for the season. What needs to happen to send
- 3:39Speaker 1: the fans home happy and to send the crack and
- 3:41Speaker 1: home of the win.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Play a committed, hard hockey game and outwork the other team.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Let's start there and we'll go from there.
