- Brad: Welcome to the Coast Trash Podcast. I'm your host, Brad. These are the Stooges, Jimmy Josh. And Joshua. I'm Jimmy. So we've been talking about doing this podcast for I don't know. Two, three ish years. Six podcasts were somewhere in in that neighborhood. And and so we felt like it was finally time to just do it instead of talk about it. just do it. Just do it. And so we called it the Coast Trash Podcast because we really didn't have another name and we thought it was kinda cool. And it's fairly representative of this trio. Yeah. I mean so I mean it's a if you're from here, you get it. Right. Right. But even though I remember vividly, it was nineteen ninety nine, I walk into the fraternity house and someone's like, he's Coast Trash or something and I remember being like, What what did he say to me? Right. Like I didn't know if I should be offended or not. I thought it was Coast Rats. It was Coast well, the first time I heard it was Coast Trash. Yeah, I don't remember the late nineties. I don't remember the late nineties at all. So Yeah, I take trash, but it's well that's what I always heard. And so but anyways, I mean I was like, I mean, do I need to try to beat this guy up or what? And then I was like, Okay. Yeah, hell yeah, I'm Coast Trash. And so since then it's just kind of been like a thing. Like I think people say it in a way that they expect it to be It's jealousy. It's pure jealousy. Yeah, they expect it to be an insult and I I'm not sure that many people from the coast actually I don't think I would take very, very little. That's why we're taking the power back. We're taking coast trower coast trash power back. We're we're we're taking the power back. I mean that's what we're doing. And we're calling this the Coast Trash podcast to to demonstrate that, right? Yep, absolutely. We should probably do some introductions. So, Jimmy, why don't you go ahead and kick us off? My name is Jimmy Gates. And I like all men's football. I'll bet you do right now. You you know, especially with that beard, you're giving me very much like water boy vibes like Let it vote Miss Football. Yeah, that's kind of a coach O thing, really. He says he likes old myths. and know he was there too, so he was there for a minute. Yeah, he coached him for a minute. Yeah, he's got Fran Farmer Franny, farmer Fran whatever. I can't do I can't do voices. I can't I with with my vocals where they are I can't do voices. I'm gonna all right. Introductions. So Jimmy, by the way, is my brother. Jimmy's my older brother, as you can clearly see. He's a little less good looking. Very aged. He's very aged, you can tell. Got the old grays in the beard. He's got the grays and he's got lots of although he doesn't have much hair up top. So anyways, Jimmy, my brother, and now Joshua, give us a little intro. I've known these two for thirty four odd years. Met in sixth grade, nineteen ninety two ish. I'm the same height now that I was then. I'm glad you took my joke from me. True that. true that. born and raised down here, father of two lovely girls. my eldest is going to be twenty nine tomorrow. That still makes me weird it out. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Pretty terrible. is also twenty nine. I did not know I'm just kidding, she's thirty six. I was like, damn, I thought she was a little older. No, she is closer in age to Morgan than she is to me. But She's very mature for her age. Yeah, so Josh John. She reads at a high school level. Josh John and We got distracted. you'll this will happen periodically. It's what we do. so d just to kinda round that off, I'm Brad Cates. I am a father of three children. And the leader of this band of misfits. The leader of the band of misfits, barely. Only because I'm the only one that can read. By station only. yeah, and so mine spanned from two years old who's inside screaming. just a few minutes ago to a freshman in college. So anyway, so Coast Trash Podcast. So we we this is how now you know how we named it. You know who we are. this is gonna be a podcast that's not just about the coast. we do not expect to stay just here. We we wanna talk about things acr across the country, the world, give our very, very very qualified or narrowly qualified opinion on many things. and we also we'll talk about the coast a lot because it is our home and it's badass. So just don't move here. yeah we don't want you to move here. We're talking about stuff that we're not qualified for too you know it's gonna not qualify for yeah so I mean our our unofficial slogan is broadly opinionated and narrowly qualified and I think it fits us pretty well. Absolutely we we we intend to live up to those parameters. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I'm really looking forward to to the point of this not being just a local thing. I I'm really looking forward to our first Coast Trash International podcast? From like Montana. yes, sir. You know what I'm saying? Like it would probably be a Dude, dude, dude comes in on the comments like, hey, I'm from Big Sky or Missoula or whatever. And you're like, hell yeah. They got ties, bro. I look, I I researched it. They can do it. They can be from the coast. I'll drive. That's the way I look at it. I ain't driving to Montana, I promise you that. I'll get on a plane and fly in the butte. I don't know, I like a good drive. okay, so we're we're going off on our changes that we'll normally do. so that's it. So that's where we're at. That while we're here. we are going to hit a a a a number of topics most weeks. Okay. Can I do something real quick? You are always welcome. Hi, Toddy. Got somebody who the heck are we? Hey, Flynn Flynn, Bim Bam, old Miss By Darn. He gave the He didn't even say hell and damn. No, he's I'm not cussing on podcast. for the third graders that are worried about your yeah. Yeah. He's trying to get he's trying to get sponsored. Yeah. He's like, man, no you you can't get I won't get ratioed. You can't get sponsored if you can't get on Miss Rachel if I say cuss words. I won't get ratioed. All right, we'll we'll call Miss Rachel and let her know that you did it. okay, fair enough. We'll talk about that later. But the the point is that we're gonna hit some of this stuff, speaking of, miss. but we're also gonna have a few things that we we talk about every week. most of them I came up with by the way and they might suck so we might get rid of them but we're gonna give them shot because absolutely all right. If it sucks we'll delete it. That's right. We do have edit version. So before we go any further we need to take a minute or like ten seconds and for a word from our sponsor. This podcast tonight is brought to you by Low Tide Company. Low Tide Company happens to be my company. And this is also part at least partly my podcast. And so I made that happen. I kind of put those two pieces together and we got a little sponsor. by Low Tide. yeah, low tide. I mean so, you know, tell the stories of the Gulf Coast. We do it talk about our culture. We do it through apparel and hats. like this one and that one over there. So, that's a word from our sponsor. If you've not been to our website, please go. It is Livelotide dot com. L I V E L O W T I D E My was asking if it's live because of the podcast or live. No, I think it'd be live wasn't after. Yeah. At one time we we were gonna call this podcast Low Tide Live, which I thought confused Live Low Tide. Live live low tide is more of a lifestyle. It's a way of life. It's the it's the way to live. If you're coast trash. How about that? Boom. So anyways, that is a word from our sponsor. We will not talk about those people anymore. box fully checked. Unless you want to buy. So unless you want a hat. Available. so, all right, let's kick off. I want to do one of the little kinda segment for lack of a better yeah word. we'll call it a segment. I want to do one of those that I call which y'all are welcome to change. Hopefully somebody one day will get a listener and they'll be like, don't call it that. I'll listen. Absolutely. But anyway, so for for now it's called the high watermark. But we are open to suggestions. The high watermark. We are open to suggestions. So i it look and speaking of which, let's be realistic. High watermark, so if you go into like Mary Mahoney's Or like one of those restaurants on the coast somewhere along in Belag. They usually have like the little yeah. High water mark where where Katrina came through, which I do not think is a good thing. I don't think I don't think economic developers I don't think that was good. Mary Mahoney, fun with the fake fish. Wa ooh, Jim. You can't go there. These are people that we want to listen to our podcast, man. Yes. And they've already paid restitutions. That's true. But either way, high water mark is something badass. They think Katrina's high water was badass. I do not happen to think that. The high tide mark. High tide mark. The high water mark, same thing. Okay, so what is it? What is ours? What is no what is the high what what is it? What's the second where the water peaks. It's the best thing that's happened to you. I've got mine. Please, Jimmy. Well, I'm not Josh. Yeah. high high water mark. Best thing that's happened to you since last week. Well the anticipation on waiting for Jimmy to tell me what his is your high water mark. Is literally my high water mark. I have been just beside myself. Mine didn't come till yesterday. Jimmy. Make me happy. no, that's my turn. I want to talk about my high water mark. My high water mark is this. Right here. Us doing this. I know I I kinda have to drag y'all occasionally to do this, but I did fall asleep. This is my this is my jam, like I'm happy. This is this is what I'm happy about. I did one with Briar too. Can I go now? So let's move on. Gotta go now. Gordy is goulash earlier. Gotta go now. like real goulash? It's American goulash. It's basically spaghetti with macaroni noodles and she calls it that. I'm fine with it. It's delicious. But it didn't it did put me down into a a napping situation. What it how does that differ from I mean, obviously it's got noodles in it. Well I I think spaghetti is long skinny noodles. Is that like Polish? It's Hungarian originally. Hungarian. I looked it And what is succotash? Is that suffering succotash? That's gotta be gotta be southern. I got All right, Jimmy, give us give us the high water mark. miss putting belt to behind against LSU. Belt to behind. guys. Rated G over here. I belt to behind. I I'll I mean look I'm on board with it. I just I don't know that I've heard that. Did I mean they get And old ain't given crying on the sideline. Chef's kiss. Ugh. I did not see him cry, but I I wouldn't be upset if I did. I I think what they're paying him, it's gonna be really hard to squeeze a tear out of that unless it's one of joy. Yeah, that's pretty I don't disagree, but you know it still hurt him a little bit. now see now you're getting a little adult. I I didn't say it. I mean a cuss word. No, I didn't say it we left every word out but the one that mattered, you said you said behind earlier. Yes, I thought that was pretty funny. Also. And I thought it was I honestly I thought it was funnier when they when they played the whole Dixie Land Delight. Take me to Baton Rouge. Whatever it's called. How's it called? Calling Baton Rouge. yeah, I thought that I thought that was better. I thought that that one was better but either way. Either one either one was good. Lane kinda sucks. He I'm glad he got what he got. I think we need a soundboard for Jimmy every now and then. Wah. so I can do that on that thing. I don't know how to do it yet, but we'll do that eventually. I feel like one's like a one of those like you know, like the little horn like the you know, the like in the cartoon. No. Like the one in the cartoon, like You know, like the one that you would squeeze on a bicycle. like a I don't know what you call that. Bicycle horn? Maybe I don't know. I thought either way. So okay, Jimmy. Jimmy's You get it. Enamored with his win. I'm happy you're happy. What is what's really got you tickled about that win, Jim? Like is it Lane Kiffin getting a little eating a little crow? It's Lane Kiffin. It's all Lane Kiff. Did you see his face on the sideline? Yeah. It's all Lane. The problem is he left because L S U was a better program. This is not a sports show. However, you are entitled to your opinion. yeah, no, I just want to see if it was more hatred for Lane Kiffin or I mean L S And I think he's been very clear. L S U and general hatred's there too, but Lane Kiffin may make What did L S U do to you? What show me on the doll where they heard you never liked L S U. No look. Jimmy spent the whole year it at in Oxford. Party. And he got I remember he got less than a credit. I don't know that's possible. He got less than one credit. I don't know. Like a half I did marginally better than that. In a year, in a year time frame. no that was yet he still gets to be like the Ole Miss fan for whatever reason. Yeah, it seems Mostly because he hates Lane Kiffett. Who are they playing next week, Jim? Who's LSU playing next week? I have no idea. Do you care? No, all right. Are you gonna root for them too? Yes. Whoever plays them, I'm rooting for you. All right. If I see if I were an Ole Miss fan. I would want LSU to win the rest of their games. And then I'd want to meet them again in the are they I can can they even play in the S C C championship? Okay, but they can play in the playoffs. Yeah, they could play. And then play again in the playoffs. They win every game up to that point, play again in the playoffs and beat them again. Yeah. If I was an omens fan, that's right. you could put Belta behind one more time. Absolutely, I hope so. And if I was A fan like I am, which I mean sports to the top, I guess. I'm scared to death of Florida this weekend as long as as long as we're talking sports. Okay, I'm done. I'm done with sports. Right, go over sports. Don't worry But I'm done with sports. I mean, I don't know what else we're gonna talk about necessarily. Not anybody on my team. I just whip Jimmy's ass in fantasy football recommendations. Nobody on my team is the way you go with it. Jimmy's won the football league. Th brain injury and all. He's won our football league like three times in the past five years. You had a brain injury? I did have a brain injury. Shit on me. Coma for however many months. You don't remember? No he happens to not remember. How do you how do you know what happened? Right. May I may not have He made it up. Time of my black. But either way, like he for for whatever reason he's lucky or he's good. I've got I've got a few pictures. But you know what I did this week? As of yesterday. Last night. Well, they tell me I won it in my COVID year. No, you did not win it, no. No, they told me I would have won it later by COVID year. my it's your brain injury. Right, brain injury year. Did you buy vaccination? You did not win it that year. I said they Darby said I could have won it. I think Darby made I could have won it too, but I didn't play. Well, what I did was more impressive. Please do tell I won my fantasy baseball league for the seventh time out of the past ten years. Ooh, that's a good record. That's good. That's a solid team. Pretty impressive. That's good. But I've won football three out of whatever many years. We played it. Seven, eight. Yes, he he doesn't know. Well he has a good one. Like you're you you peaked. Your time is over now. It's okay. You're going down. No. But I did whip his ass this week. My team is well. I had the lowest I had the lowest amount of points last week out of the entire league. Who do y'all he had the second highest? Yahoo! ESPN. Yahoo. Okay. This week I've got the most, I think. I got the least. He's got the lease. So have a new play in make. I won by sixty-five points. He's gonna win by almost a hundred for a tall stuff. so y'all are doing yeah, we do a different scoring thing. It it actually kinda sucks. But I also had my best receiver out. My quarterback went out in the second half, my best tight end was out. Did LSU win though? No, they did not. Here we go. Coast trash sports podcast. I don't know what we're doing. All right, let's move on. Let's move on. I'm over sports. Don't worry. Are you done with your your LSU hatred? that's never gonna end. We may circle back around. Yeah, I'm sure we will. But as for now. More than once. All right, so here's I I just think that I think that I want to bring up a topic. Go right in. I think we'll be You're the boss. Relatively funny. Let's let's put a pen in that. Please call me the boss. You can just make that my nickname. so I was thinking about this. So y you see all these like th there's that one podcast I freaking love. I can't remember the name of it right now. but they talk about like all the stuff that happened when we were kids, like You know, the different like the top ten cars in the you know, the nineties or whatever. I wasn't really paying attention to cars that much in the nineties. Yes, you were. And we were driving in the nineties. Yeah. Mid nineties. The gold gavalier. But the Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you know what you drove. I know what I drove. You know what you wanted to drive. I that's what I drove. Right. Yeah, well you were spoiled. Spurled Rodney, I think. for yeah, force it, yeah. is that what you call it? Yeah. Privileged. privileged has been na mentioned. Easy tiger. See how I did that? I just I just like I just like took that line. Cross that bait out there, he'll bite it. Took it two little two little rotations and dislocked the reel in is all I did. Yeah. But so so but my point is is I I need to pull up that podcast 'cause it's it's it really is good. Like I love it. And like a nostalgia thing. It's the nostalgia, yeah. It's called that, I think. Something along those lines. Yeah. but anyway, the Everything was better back in the day. But but I saw I was thinking about it, like they've I'm sure they've done a an episode on this, but think about something that you thought was like the gospel, like it was the truth. The like in all caps, the truth. When you were a kid, like ten and under, that now you're like That was dumb. like how was I so naive to think that's I mean it's Ana Call's count. I could do you're not gonna get on this Rachel with that kind of talk here, but Yeah, I mean Jimmy, come on. We're auditioning right here for you for Miss Rachel and you're missing. another dude, Miss Rachel. Him and their Yeah, I mean no, 'cause that's too obvious. I I think it should be something different. Not not yeah. I mean we our parents lied to all of us. I mean that's that's their that's our parents. Up until recently well not recently, but my dad did not would not drive a Ford because he had a Ford in nineteen seventy four. It was apparently a shit box and he had to work on it all the time. I vaguely so I vaguely still drives Dodge. Despite the fact that their transmissions go out all the time. Often. Often, pretty often. How many transmissions? So I was a a you have right? So the blue one. I still got the blue one. Your black one. Your dad had a black one at the time, right? there's the one I got. And then he had a green one. And then he had a black one. Okay. And then he had another black one. So we're talking about least five to six dodges. How many of them had a transmission put in them? Mine was twice. Okay. I don't think the blue one it was a three point nine V six, so it didn't it wasn't really it didn't have the juice. It didn't have enough juice to break it. I think he learned that he learned after having to put two in mine. One of was faulty. The other one I transmission was faulty? Yeah, yeah, no, they were Yeah, that was obviously that was yeah. Well no. The second one was me. What was that Dodge call that we had? We had the Dakota. Dakota, yeah. We had the blue one. It was the blue with like the gold on the bottom. I used to like that. I drove that home from Bluff Creek when I was I think thirteen still. Yeah, I think I was thirteen. I used like that car. Guess why I drove it home. I saw the same reason that I saw a clip. Mama and daddy was this little five year old girl. This five year old girl was like backing the boat in and like pulling it up into the trailer because somebody's gotta be sober to drive. Those trailer things do, like All those videos online. Like there are literally people that have made millions of dollars. Just doing just doing posting trailer videos. It's amazing the amount of people that cannot back a trailer into the wall. Even when I used to do it regularly, I wasn't good at it. I mean I could I could get by, but I wasn't good at it. Yeah, I mean I was good at backing the trailer up but I was never good at getting my angle right. to where pulling the boat like I was either too deep or not deep enough. My b the the boat just never went on it the right way. Because if you go just kind of deep, you're like this. And then if you go a little bit deeper you're like this. So it's not just the depth, it's the angle. Mm-hmm. Right? I just I was never good at that. Luke and his wife have that n nailed. She backs it she backs it in. He goes forward. It's still running when they pull out of the water. They're in and out in forty five seconds. Yeah. I mean I've I've seen people do it all the time. I love it. And I think look, I'm impressed by it. I just was never that good. You're actually pretty good. I did you wouldn't think? Todd. Albert. Yeah. I mean Todd's good basically anything to do with cars and that but Well he drove an eighteen wheel already but it helps. Albert Albert was actually gonna drive an eighteen wheel? I don't think. I mean I'd probably figure it out eventually. I don't want to. I could move it. I don't want I don't want to figure it out. I I can move it. I know I just want to play around. I don't want to actually drive a truck. I mean if I was like on a track and just got to like do like what was that heavy metal, what's it called? yeah, heavy twisted metal. Twisted metal? if I could twisted metal that shit, I'd go. What was it like a demolition derby? yeah. Speaking of demolition derby, I was watching a video the other day. Have y'all seen this? Where the the it's a it's a dirt track. And whoever so there's a truck with a trailer. Yeah. And they're the truck and the trailer's hauling ass around the turt dirt track. Yeah, they got like a pace car truck pulling a trailer. Pulling a pulling just like a you know, like a a double axle flatbed. Yeah. And it's got room for one car. One car. And you gotta drive it onto it while it's moving. That's how you win. It's got the ramps dragging behind it. And everybody's trying to get you off of it. Well no, everybody's trying to get to it, first of all. You almost can't like everyone like I watched, I mean I went In the hole. I mean, I was probably 30, 40 minutes in. No, I'm Not not on one, but multiple, right? And so like you like most of them, like they get up there. And then they but but you gotta gas it to get up there, and you're already going 40, I don't know. But then you gotta stop and then you gotta stop balanced. So then they t teeter off the side. And then like somehow go up and somehow come behind them and hit and then they fall off. it's it's pretty badass. Like it is demolition derby except Cooler. That is a twist of metalsome. It seems like if there was no other cars and it was driving consistent speed in a straight line, it's on a track. It's doing circles. Like a small dirt track. I checked those out. But I bet they're going forty. they're all on ass. Yeah. And it's it's I mean all kinds of different cars. So awesome. Yeah. Some of them had to watch that and you're like, holy shit, he made it. And then no peeds shit. Eventually, when we have our own studio, which we're gonna have one day. We're gonna have like this T V that's sitting here that's not actually plugged in. We're gonna have a screen up where I can like YouTube and shut up right here and we'd be able to see it. Yeah. And really talk about it. Another camera. We have we yeah, we can get another camera. That's not an iPhone. Right. We can have multiple iPhones. iPhone's a good camera. Yeah, it's geeze right on that. I mean, don't know if it's like a I mean, we're not Joe Rogan, but I mean low tide productions. Joe Rogan. Low budget productions. Low budget productions. Low budget tide. Yeah. So anyways, where were we started somewhere. nostalgia. So that's what it so back to the question. We I think we completely forgot the question. Something that when you were a kid, not holiday or fictitious That you thought was the absolute shit. You thought it was just true. Like it was it was the truth. And then now at your age, I mean you found out obviously before now, but now you're like you think back on it and you even think, God I was freaking dumb. Like how was I that dumb to believe that? I've got one. I've thought about this. Yeah, I don't think and there's one I have that I'm I'm it's so dumb I'm embarrassed to say it out loud. I'd love to hear it. Yeah, you g do y'all have one? No, I I don't I don't think I have one. I come up with one real quick. Well so here's mine first and then I'll Okay. So so mine I remember vividly okay. I've never vivid memory. I remember thinking that so we were watching Don't remember the movie, but I remember the concept. I remember thinking in my head, how did they do that? It was like Rambo and then Rocky. Right? And I remember thinking in my head, like, how, how, how did Rambo kill these people and get away and now he's a boxer. Like how did he how did that happen? Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. Like I thought they were doing it all live. Like it was right. Like I got the concept that Rambo was not Rocky. Like I knew it was an actor. But like I remember thinking like how did he how was he Rocky five minutes ago? How was he Rambo? How was Rambo first ago? And then now he's already Rocky again. Like how did that h like that's a lot of That's a lot of set changing. Yeah. And you know, I that's a big why didn't Rocky fight in his weight class? He did. That's a good question. Club or Lang? what's it? Ivan Drago. Wait, was a Rocky not a heavyweight? No. He's a hundred seventy five pounds. So can wet. I mean, in real life, Sylvester Stallone is I'm talking about We got a fan. Did we get flashed? I did. I don't know. But no, but but Rocky was a heavyweight. No. Yes, he wa in the in the movie he was a heavyweight. What's the heavyweight limit? I'll bet you could that up. Rocky. I don't know. But I mean he was a heavyweight in the movie. I think he wasn't heavyweight in the movie. He's all a heavyweight in real life. How? I think he was a heavyweight. In what world is a ripped stallone more than two? I'm not saying more than two. I'm saying I think he played heavyweight in the let's just say class. You have a pair of eyeballs. And you can see that Mr. T, who's probably six foot plus two hundred and forty pounds when he was BA Barackas. great, great has any business. Great movie. Has any business being in the same ring. Rocky Rocky Balboa. Have you seen that? The world heavyweight championship bout of the Polo Creed. So he was a heavyweight. Whether you want to w whether you whether Sylvester Dallone was or not is irrelevant. Yeah, it's irrelevant. Now it's relevant to my my topic, right? Of of like how did how did how was he shooting people in like Asia and then all of a sudden he's in a ring in New York City. I mean, yeah, that that's realistic. I'm getting he certainly was not a heavyweight when you think of it that way. But I mean he was a heavyweight. I think. In the movie, he was a heavyweight. He might have been billed as a heavyweight. I just don't think I mean Bill, he was the heavyweight championship. I mean I will understand that they've they multiple times. I would just like to know how much he weighed. He's also Roman Catholic Italian, by the way. yeah, believe that. Rocky Balboa was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Also there's no chance he doesn't have CTE at any point. And he made way too many of those movies. Yeah, he did. you you got me you you had me on a tangent that I wanted to explore and I forgot what it was. Anyway, I'm nostalgic. Mr. T. B. A Barack. Speaking of right, speaking of nostalgia, like so Mr. Mr. T was one him and Sergeant Slaughter At a at a very young age, we're two of my most favorite people on the planet. There's a Rocky Netflix, I think it's Netflix, but a documentary on Mr. T out right now. I've not watched it yet. daddy check out. Were you Mr. T fan? I used to get the I used to get B Mardi Gras beads when I was like six. The gold chains. And I'd stack I'd only get the gold ones. Were clipped by one big clip in the back. Don't ruin my dream. I'm just saying I did it with I thought that was in the thread of what we were discussing. I did it I did it with Mardi Gras beads. Gold Martigras beads. I was under the assumption that he did every one of every time. Well, I mean that's what I'm saying. I I wish and I would have thought he did until you ruined it for me. do. I take your happy. You're a killer of dreams. Killer of dreams. What it was face? B.A. Barakus. Face? I'm talking about the eighteen killer. Yeah, now eighteen. Now Murdoch school the old school eighteen was pretty good. Murdoch, Ace. Who was my boy that did the helicopter? That was Murdoch. No, no. What was the goofy guy? The goofy guy. Murdoch's the crazy guy. No. No, Murdoch was the big dude. Like the main dude, wasn't he? No, that's what's his name? Hannibal. Hannibal. Murdoch's the crazy dude. That's Bradley Cooper. That's Bradley Cooper in the movie. No, in the movie it wasn't Bradley. Bradley Cooper was Face. yeah, yeah. It was it was that that The Goofy guy. Yeah the goofy guy Goofy. Yeah. But his name's Murdoch. I'll give you that. I didn't I didn't see the reboot. I know Rand Page is B A and was that was pretty solid. He did good. For what it is. I think Mr. T gave a cameo, didn't he? During that movie? I think that's all he does now. Yeah. Cameos? Yeah. Dude, he was a wrestler, bruh. He was on G.I. Joe. He was I mean i he was on the what was the Remember the the cartoon with all the with Jordan and Wayne Gretzky? wow yeah what was that called? I don't know what it's called, but yeah, I know I know what I'm talking about. Do you remember what I'm talking about? Yeah, yeah. It was Wayne Gretzky and they always had a Michael Jordan. Like a moral at the end of the there's a baseball player and a football was it Lawrence Taylor maybe? Bo Jackson? Was it Bo? I don't think it was Bo. I that was anyway, I think I think he made a guest appearance on that maybe. Someone would probably call me out. Like maybe he didn't but I mean For a long time there in the late eighties He was on Lunchbox early nineties was on he was on everything, dude. Mr. T was the he had a G he was a G.I. Joe. Yeah, G.I. Joe kid. That's I'm saying. Yeah. Old Hogan was everywhere. Old Hogan. He was like a that that was a good IMO documentary too. I haven't seen it. my god. Terry Balea. You you gotta you gotta watch it. It was so good. Yeah, it was good. I watch it. Watching his progression. You know? Like from like kind of like a nobody to Since I met him. Huh. He's been bald since I met him on the T V a while back. Well I mean he's always had a little bit of ball, but he had hair at Yeah, a skulllet. He had hair at one point. He did, it was just super thin. he was in always he was in Rocky. Right. Yeah. They did that wait, he's not the w no. He hurt Apollo, but he didn't kill him. That was Drago. Yeah. That's right, and then that's when he went back and was like, I gotta kill this dude. Yeah. Everything he touches he destroys. S so Drago who what was his name? Dolph Ludgrund. Dolph Lundron. Yep, Dolph Lundrin. Masters of the Universe, the first one. Have you seen the new ones? I have seen the new one. It's not bad. Yeah, it's not bad. Do you remember the old one? Yes. Wait, hold on, hold What do you mean by not as good? Because what do you mean, you people? Because the first one was horrible. Yeah, the second one was not ten. Nine awesome at ten years old. Ten years old. Right. It was crazy. J look, Jimmy and I tried to watch Boondock Saints the other day. Couldn't get through it. It's ridiculously terrible. Couldn't get through it. But when we watched it in college, we were like, hell yeah, it's badass. All I'm seeing is the guy from Walking Dead. Yeah. Daryl. Darrell. Yeah. I try to get Morgan to watch the kid. I can try to the kids to watch some of the the shows that I feel like, this is awesome, you gotta watch this. think one of the last Starfighter and it literally looks worse than like it's like Galaga. Starfighter? Yeah. Is that a movie? Yeah. That's a movie. It's a it's like it's almost a Disney. And there's a arcade video game in a trailer park in Podunk, you know, rural wherever and probably where a tornado's happens the kid beats it. It's always like the guy beats it and then a guy pulls up and takes him to a star base because he passed the test. And then you know Adventure ensues. Was that in the eighties too? It was. the best eighties movie is Goonies. Sorry. I'm not gonna say it's the best, but it's certainly top five. Or Scarface was the eighties too, I think. So Scarface has gotta be close. Let's talk about something that didn't age well. Scarface was the movie? Yeah. I just watched it recently. It's pretty good. Machine enough. I I just watched it. Now but you need to do an Italian accent. Cuban, not so well. Come on man. Say hello to my love friend. Hello to my love friend. I'm not even gonna try. What'd you look at? What'd you looking at man? So let me again. That's yeah, I nailed it. Mm Chi Chi Gabby Yeah Yeah, but that that that's That's a good it's a good movie. Do you remember the Master P I don't even remember what it was called, but it was ba loosely based on Scarface the movie. Yeah. Where he had the big thing and people try to come in and steal stuff. It's it's not about it. I wanna say I had it on VHS. I y well I did. I I did. I remember I let everybody borrow it. I think Michael still has it. I think I had dead presidents on VHS too. If that was that wasn't bad. It was good the first time. I don't know. I'm done. I always thought it was over. That's might be the best one of those type of movies. But also those movies when you're as your life changes, you look back on them with different eyes and you know, we're no longer the young upstart young bugs we were. Buying every new no limit record when it came out on T. It was good. It's still good. I watched it not too long ago. I think on this thread, I used to think that I was a lot tougher than I believe I was. As it turns out, bit of a candy ass. I love that. Now we're talking some real talk. And real thoughts with Joshua Johnson. Yes. With Jack Handy. may have over glorified some of my memories here. Occasionally I'm driving to work. Well I'll tell y'all about yours. As I'm driving to work, sometimes Reno's on, sometimes not, and then I'm I'm you know, I I work at Pascal, so I'm on the causeway and I'm like, did that happen? Or did I just make that up? Just to you know I do that all the time. I'm like I can imagine Jimmy probably does it a lot. I mean I'm not I'm I'm actually not joking when I read it. Most of the I do I do. I just made up I think I have memories that I'm like, is that a real memory? Or I'd tell my dad I told you so many times I'd think this story. Yeah. Y'all just take a drip around my mind of what I think is was real and what I don't like deserts. Also, I bet it's roomy in there. I don't like deserts. It's roomy. I don't like deserts. Actually you should probably rent it out. Yeah, I said y'all take a drip around my mind for a little while. I mean You can probably rent it for about fourteen hundreds. There ain't nothing wrong with your mind other than you can't remember shit. I mean you can still think to be honest, at least he has to have a lot. A lot of memories. You can't remember the short term stuff is the only thing. It's really the only point. I walk in a room sometimes I don't remember why I was in there. Let me tell you something. It's more that thing is a bane of my existence. You know your watch can find it. I can't get that thing to look. He didn't know how to do it. We'll work on it. Who's doesn't have that thing? What? What do you have the first iPhone watch? I think it might be probably it's probably close. I mean I bet it's at least I bet it's at fifteen years old. Did I have this before I went to hospital? f yeah, for sure. So that's usually. No, I'm I'm kinda used to it. Yeah, I kinda like it. God, I was hoping somebody would say that. I mean Yeah, I Jimmy's like, No, I'm used to down here But no, it it's not as bad as I thought it would be. It's really not. I've got some booms ordered. So the boom J the rare the boom should be able to like sit behind the couch. That's what I was telling him earlier. If it could do like this and I couldn't on a boom behind me. Bump into it while we're and then I could be like, Hey, how you doing? You know, whatever. Actually, if you can just hang it from the seat, like this is like Michael Buck knock you wow. wow. Isn't that how youighing it at three hundred and thirty pounds? Am I making that up in the video? Didn't that hang in the it was a ring paint, but but I mean that's the announcer they dropped. Yeah, yeah, okay. I was making sure I didn't wasn't making that up. anyways, I I got us off on a tangent there, but we should do a real rumble. No. Yeah, right. I ain't roiling on but anything nowadays. Royal. What's going on, Jimmy, with you talk about sports. What's going on with wrestling these days? Cody Rhodes is the champion. Who is Cody Roach? Dusty Rhodes' son. Rhodes. Yeah, I mean how many generations is that? I remember Dusty. At least three. And then Dustin, right? Yeah, Dusty's. And this kid is Dustin's kid. That's Dusty's kid, is Cody Rhodes. Dustin is his cousin. Dusty was the one that when we were he looked like Rodney Dangerfield. Yeah. Right? Yeah. And then Dustin was his kid. Dustin's kid and then Cody's Dustin's cousin. Dustin is no. They're both they're both They're both the big one's kids. Unofficial biography. The Rhodes But their kids are Gold Dust Dustin is his half brother. Cody's his actual I thought Gold Dust was Dustin Rhodes. It is. It is. That's who that's who it is. He rebranded. Then Cody Rhodes is the one that's in the the WB now. He's a champion. Okay. He's the young one. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? He's a good guy. Can't remember what the iron's on. Were you did you ever watch wrestling? last time I even paid attention to wrestling The rock was big time. you you had to smell what he was cooking. yeah, that was a long time ago. Yeah. That's probably that's probably when I quit watching in that time frame. I quit watching when Stone Cold quit being w when s you know, that was happening at the same time with Stone Cold, right? And so when Stone Cold became like Corporate. Well, just a afterthought. Yeah. It's kinda when I quit watching. But I mean, I remember dude, do you remember the big the the the big screens that were like a piece of furniture? Like a fifty two inch where it had like yeah yeah we had a rear projection. They rolled around. We had had one in our family room. Our mum on Yeah. And so we would I mean they would they would they would get it for us. They would get the pay per views for us. no, they they had the satellite. Satellite used to get it. Satellite. we get them on a satellite. Yeah, you could use that. That's back when it was. You remember the big one? Yeah. Like the big ass satellite. Yeah, you the big satellite. And so Boo. what you called it. And I remember a lot. Boo legged it. I was I mean I was a super hyperactive kid. Like I had problems. My ears are probably red now. I don't know if they are or not, but not too bad. Like they would always get super red. Like I would just, you know, like I was that kind of kid. Blood pressure. And And I like I was a Ultimate Warrior guy, right? I mean Ultimate Warrior was my was my dude. Jimmy was a Hulk Hogan. Yep. And so when they were doing their big power struggle, like I remember like dude, I'm I'm gonna give you a little like I remember at my mom's, we're kids and this screen's like bigger than me. And I remember us getting and the Ultimate Warrior starts doing his thing. We're sitting on the ropes like this, and I was doing the whole thing, like doing the Walk and all that. How old were they? I mean it had to be not young. Not seven? Yeah, about say not old. That made Jimmy fifteen. We'd have to go look at the years, but I mean ten or under. Yeah, sure. Not old. But yeah, I mean I rem like I I used to be into it like that. I like I I was aware of it. Yeah. So like even John like when John's like we would we would our Sunday nights were wrestling, football. Yep. Was it Deadwood or Timothy Oliphant? It may have been the Deadwood? What was the God It's the Western with the Yeah, but what's What's the what's the mafia movie? With the mafia show on HBO that everybody loves so much? Sopranos Sopranos. Yeah. So it was like that, Sopranos, and then Deadwood came on after the Sopranos. Yeah. And like that was our Sunday night, like wrestling, football, Sopranos. That was it. That was like early teens. Pretty sure Johns didn't show until seventh grade. I think that went over I think that was even into like college years, man. I I remember being I don't know. We'd have to look at the I remember being in Mississippi College and me and Corey were the only people who like wrestling. Everybody else was like, This is stupid. And it's kinda stupid. Well Jimmy, I thought you went to old Mess. I did for a year. Jimmy did a tour of colleges. I went to Mississippi College. Well, let's go my let's go to my tour of college. Went to Mississippi College for a year, failed out, went up or MG C C C for a year. It's a lot of C's. Did fine. Went to Southern and I didn't fail out. yeah, went to Ole Miss. Didn't even go to class. What if it fell out? It's just not going to class. Then it's called failing out. Then same thing. Yeah. Came home, went to C C for another year. Went to Southern and Hattiesburg for couple years. I initiated it. Yeah, I know. And then I went to I've graduated from Southern on the coast. It's the longest timeline I've ever heard. I mean it's more stuff happened his His senior year. I'd already graduated. He's two, he's two grade levels above me. But yeah. He he should. I think he should have finished that year when mom's stuff happened, but he came home. Yeah, I would I would've sat out a yeah. A lot of people do college for six years, okay? Let's calm down. Yeah. Most of them are doctors. Jimmy's that was a good joke. Yeah. Like you that you hit the punchline. Yeah, I teed that up perfectly. But Jimmy was more than that. yeah. No, he's only nine years I think. It was one year college? One year I'm just talking about like something. So f you you went to college in ninety eight Yes. And I think you graduated college in two thousand seven or eight. Yep, somewhere in that way. Nine or ten years. Yeah. Did you graduate from Southern? Yep, I did. Yeah, my He's got a so nice diploma somewhere. He's got a piece of paper. Yeah. I got one too. Diploma somewhere. It's not worth the paper it's printed. A diplomoma. Well, not anymore, it's not. I finished at the on Phoenix Online community college. Well it's still look, it's still a degree. And degrees are important. We want our children to get them if they want to. Yeah, bones on our way. If they identify as degree owners. Yeah. Or degree hivers. But is it worth the paper it's printed on these days? They're getting so expensive, man. I I look I was talking with a friend of ours, a few weeks back and just talking about the expense of a college degree. Now, they they are you know, it's it's it's one of those shell games they play, right? They they give you a lot more money. kind of for free, but they jack up the price for the people who actually do pay it. Right. They make up money because they're paying the whole it's like insurance, right? Yeah. Yeah. You know, same concept. You you yeah, you give free money to people, which offsets the the actual cost. And then you get other people who are like not quite smart enough, not quite poor enough, and they gotta pay the full thing and they cover for everybody else. Yeah. I don't know if that's middle or I don't know what class that is, but but either way, the concept is the price keeps going up. And it's kind of like dude, that that this program right here on the coast, it MGCC C C C C C C C in Gaucher. With the trades? The instrument control program? yeah, you go out making a ton of money. It's fantastic. Hundred percent placement rate. At le at least last time I looked into it. What's ton of money? It's there I mean you're coming out as a twenty year old 'cause it's two year program. If you go into it when you're eighteen, you come out as a twenty year old and you're making with overtime and all that, you're making sixty plus at twenty. Overtime? At twenty. Over I'll do it if I come out as And then those same people are working for for places like Mississippi Power, Chevron, Ingalls, they're working Comores, they're working for the places that have unbelievable benefits. That sounds like a lot of work, right? And then when they're forty years old, they've been in the workforce for twenty years, they've got a million dollars sitting in their four one K. Who doesn't? Not I set the fly. How old am I? I don't I'm just telling you, like they I'm telling you right now. Also, what's a four one K. If Briar was to say to me I mean Bella's in school look Bella, let's use Bella. She's eighteen in college, freshman, right? If she were to say tomorrow, you know what? College is not for me. I'm gonna go back to the INC program, I would say, Hell yeah, go. I would not be upset about it. Well, she'll be she'll be employable. She will be she will have a job. Yep, she'll be at home. For a good company, making good money with good benefits. That she can make a an entire life on the I'm gonna get a decent living and they're not going anywhere. AI, I don't care about AI. Guess what? You still gotta put you still gotta make fuel. You gotta make power. We're gonna keep building ships. Absolutely. Right. And so Like why would like why would you not wanna do that? Look. The upside the short term upside is huge, right? If you wanna go be whatever you wanna be. But for a long time, like for sure shit happening. Dude, go be a INC person for I went to high school with some of the people that were see how great your I went to dumbest bricks, but not the brightest bulb in the back. Like who? I'm not naming names, I'm not doing that. But they went and got like a trade to my trade thing. They're making bank now. there a lot of people we went to school with went into Waffle House Management or you know Obviously not on the griddle, but killing it. yeah. I didn't know that was Do we have friends? Still not bear. Warranty. Acquaintances. Yeah, acquaintances about right. Yeah, friends. I saw a friend today. Yeah. At Rouse's picture yesterday. They did not acknowledge me. I'm gonna ask what's a friend then. Yeah, it's that's question on the friend. That's a pretty astute observation. So what do you think about that? So I've had it happen we both knew each other. We I mean like I got caught the glance. We went to high school together. But I knew who she was, she knew who I was, yet we did not say hello. I'm as guilty as as she is. I should have been like, Hey. Like you know, like sometimes you know there's some people you're like yeah, that's so and so from whatever. I don't know why I remember some of these. No, I mean it's not about a value. to me it's not about a value. I mean I it's not that I value her relationship. Maybe your impact and her life was any point. No, she knew who I was. it's one of those. Like we've met. And now another word from our sponsor. Jimmy needs to go to the restroom. We're gonna take a pause for the cause. While he's gone, we're gonna say a few things about him that he's not gonna like. Joshua. He's gone. Thank God. You wanna lock the door? Yes. he may not figure out how to get back out here anyway. He'll get lost. I've got his phone though. So when he loses that. Ooh, let's see what's in there. it looks like a high school picture of him and Louisa. Of him and Louisa. yeah, no, I've I've ran into a couple of people, some of them are business owners and acted as if like we've met, we're friends on Facebook. Yeah. And they're like, yeah, who are you? I was like See I no. I beg your dear's pardon. Now if that hap if we played football together. If the words were exchanged. Yeah. no, I was at his restaurant. I'd be like I'm like look, man. And I wasn't being my usual self either. I was being very Very magnanimous and gracious. So like, I love your spot. You know, this and that. He's like, Who are you? I'm like, Ooh. Like I I went home, like paced about it. I was like? I was like Not without giving away the goose. And we're not gonna do that. This is not what this podcast is about. No, it's not. However. It is not. But I will tell you this, back to the one I was talking about in the rouses. I we knew each other. Like we both we we had the very kind of slight awkward, not I mean, whatever. You don't look the same as you did in high school. You know, the thing is I left the I left that scenario we knew who each other were. We weren't close friends in high school. There's no reason for us to say hello to each other. Sure. But I leave there thinking to myself. I I leave there thinking to myself, like should I've said should I've said hey? Are you the asshole? You know what I mean? Right. Was I the dick? Did Right? I mean I don't know in that scenario, but I knew I wasn't in mine. Sho I mean and look, it was a as a female and I'm not trying to be sexist, but should the man have said hello and No, hold on. You know? Hold on. He he found us. And this is a doorknob and This is what editing's for. We are not editing this out. We've got we'll edit by yawning out maybe, but we're not editing Jimmy out. Actually I told it's like going it's like going on a road trip with your kids. I was like, dude, go to the bathroom. Before we start. 'Cause this is this is happening outdoors. Everything coming all right? absolutely. Back from the dead with a shaved head. My man. Back from the dead with a shaved head. Rap lyric? Fair enough. House of Pain, buddy. I don't remember that song. Back from the dead with a saved dead. like I can't remember that's so I jump around to the other one like top of the morning. Top of the morning too. they only had like two or three. Where did yawns come from all the side? it is late in the evening for people with kids. I put a Coast Trash sticker on my roommate forty ouncer and have gotten several looks and why did you put that on there? I was like, Because it's amazing, one. Have you seen my hard head shirt? Not yet. You can have it. Will you wear it a lot? Your hard what? Take pictures. Hard head? Hard head. Hard hat. Hard head. Hard head. All the shirts you see are a Mahi Mahi or a redfish or a speckled trout or a snapper. You're talking about like a hard head. Yeah, yeah. My shirt because no. Just your standard old hard head catfish. Nice. We are making the hard head catfish that is great again. How about they make the hard head catch? What is that hat great again? How's that how do you do that hat? That's pure trash. I mean, make hard heads great again. H G A? Is that right? Yep. I mean I can't spell that good, so That's it. Just saying. Hardheads are everybody's I feel favorite enemy. I feel like we've gotten off off the rails here. yeah, what was our question again? I don't know. we were on nostalgia and then I feel like Jimmy's got something that needs to go. I already did all mine. That needs to go. Did you? yes. I might do it again. Is Lane Kiffin one of Yes. Wrap it up. So we're gonna wrap it up with a few different tiny tiny things. All right. One, what has to go? What is something that is kind of a fad that you see every day of your life and you're like, my god, I'm done with it. What is it? six seven. There he is. Which I think it's on its way out already. I think it's I think it's on its way out already. Thank God, man. But it it was pretty heavy. Yeah. I'm not gonna tell you. No. Okay. Nobody knows what it means. It doesn't mean anything. I about to say I didn't think it meant anything. It was just a bunch of kids. Which is the point of everything. Six seven. Yeah. Yes. Six seven. And why are they making different words for things that already have a word. okay. Like chopped. That's bad. That's more letters. You can just say bad. I don't know that one. Give me that one. I'm very No the show. So yeah, no. Hold on. See, that's where that's where Courtney went with it. Yeah, that's what I meant. So explain it to me. Chopped is something that's terrible, garbage and or lesser than. Using the scenario. beat up old Carl there's straight chopped. You know, it's just garbage. Like him. I don't like it. I I agree. Yeah, no, but like what are the other ones? There's a ton of the kids say that, you know, they're Bruh. I six seven. That's my seven of of kids swinging. I like bruh. I mean bruh happens a lot, but I like it. Well yeah, but that's that's just a shorter word of brother. Or shorter, you know There's there's so many that you're talking about. I mean that's clean. I like wrecks. How about that one? Wrecked is bad. How about that one? That's clean. That's clean. look man, that thing is clean. W wait, what do you mean? That means it's not it's clean. Right. No, clean means it's it's been washed recently. yeah. Clean doesn't mean it's nice. It just means it's been washed. I mean, my truck is not nice. But if I go through the car wash, guess what? It's clean. It's clean. But it's not clean. That thing ain't clean. Say you're in your mid forties without saying you're in your mid forties. Exactly. Which is why we are the best generation. What is our generation? What are we? I'm you know, I'm well Well I'm ex You know, I'm I'm I'm You're straddle. Baby boy over here. I've I've got I straddle I've seen where it's up to 81. Millennial and I've seen where it stops at 80. I've seen like 81. But you're I've straddle millennial. But I'm certainly not. Your upbringing is X, certainly. Yeah, I'm nowhere near a millennial. But I straddle the line. I can I can I can relate. I've seen D generate X on. Can I be both? I could be whatever I want, can't I? Sure. You can identify whatever. No, you can identify whatever you want. That's that's true. Whatever you want to identify by ads, you can identify. I identify what are the new people calling? Like the kids that are now? What are the like what's Bella? I don't know. Th there's X Z she's a millennial, isn't she? There's Y generation Y, there's I well that's what I No is and that's another thing. The generation should be a generation, not a period of five years. Fair. Well that's because we're you know, they had like thirty something years. Our society, we just give names to everything and Yeah, we so we do it. That's what it we do. Like I know I'm Generation X because that's what they told me when I was younger. Generation X. X games D generation X. And now they're like, no, you're this I was like no. I was that before y'all made this other shit up. Right. So Yeah, I don't I look I'm I'm with you. I don't whatever. I'm not on board with any of that. Yeah, I'm gonna say whatever I am, I am. What's our time looking like? yeah, so we're almost there. So let's take it home. Let's do it. I want that to be the segment, Break it down like a fraction. Take home. Let's do it. What we got going on around the coast. We got coming up soon, we got Peter Anderson's coming up soon. Yep. Mullets. Cruising the Coast coming up soon. That's less than a month, I think. Mullet Festival in Goshe. Zanta Festival in Pascagoul. Lacusa. I'll be cooking in by the way. I didn't I've noticed Coming up on October seventeenth. Same day as the mullet festival, unfortunately. Is that Bilexi on green? Lacusa. No, Lacusa is up off Highway 15. I don't remember the address off the top of my head. it's good food, but it's a long way away. Are you afraid to drive that far, Jimmy? I don't drive anyway, but I'm almost afraid to ride that far. Precisely. Yeah. It's a big hindrance. but yeah, they give money every year to like cancer. Research. Yeah, that's all the cancer preservation is bad. Cancer survivor, yeah. So yeah, we'll be there. So a lot of stuff coming up. all right, last thing. This is what we're gonna end on every week. I hope. Done. What is your thing for the week that you're like, hey, one listener that we have, I want you to go do this. Go try this, go use this, go watch this, whatever it is. It can be anything that you're telling somebody this is what you should do. Go do it. What is what would Jimmy do? Mexican on a Thursday. You don't know what Jimmy would do because it's boring to Jimmy. Do you want me to give one? I mean, do you know what I'm talking about? Do I need to give an example? Yes. So mine is Sunday at Fields Italiente or whatever it's called in Ocean Springs. On Sunday they have twelve dollars lasagna and it is I don't like lasagna. I'm not a lasagna person. It is fan difference. And it is fantastic. It is the one place That I would eat lasagna every day. And for and it's twelve dollars on Sundays. That is my that is my go do it. This is Coast Trash Brad Cates recommended. Yeah, it's a good dude. It's very good. So that's the premise. It doesn't have not it does not have to be a food item.
