  Speaker 3: I mean, yes, you've got the AP and the coaches

  Speaker 3: that stood as the you know, the mainstay forever. I

  Speaker 3: mean a lot of us are old enough to remember

  Speaker 3: before the College Football Playoff, before the BCS, you had

  Speaker 3: an AP champion, coaches champion.

  Speaker 1: Sometimes those would be the same teams.

  Speaker 3: But now you've got a CBS poll, an on three pole,

  Speaker 3: you know, a U poll, a ME poll at that pole.

  Speaker 1: It feels like we kind of polled out here.

  Speaker 4: Yeah, and to me it's it's a well, it's much
• 3:23
  Speaker 4: to do about nothing, you know. But yeah, you know

  Speaker 4: a lot of people feel like it has some effect
• 3:30
  Speaker 4: on how people may view teams. And look, I can't

  Speaker 4: say for certain that it doesn't. We know that, you know,
• 3:39
  Speaker 4: the real discussions of how they rank teams in October.

  Speaker 4: You know, I don't know, maybe there's a little bit
• 3:48
  Speaker 4: of perception of teams being really good, but we really
• 3:51
  Speaker 4: don't know. We know that they're teams that are very
• 3:55
  Speaker 4: talented going in who could be very good, but who

  Speaker 4: to know that somebody that's you know, automatically top five,

  Speaker 4: top six, you know, I just don't know that that

  Speaker 4: that that's necessarily going to be the case until we

  Speaker 4: start to see him play. We'll know who the best

  Speaker 4: teams are as we go through the course of the season,

  Speaker 4: and it will change through the course of the season.

  Speaker 4: It's gonna have a different look. Although I think we'll

  Speaker 4: see some some teams, uh kind of you know, just

  Speaker 4: come to fourth through the course of the year and

  Speaker 4: maybe they were protected to be really good and they

  Speaker 4: still are at the end of the year, but we

  Speaker 4: just don't know. That's the reality of it.

  Speaker 3: at yesterday's reveal of the AP, I just want to

  Speaker 3: talk about some of these teams, and obviously the media

  Speaker 3: feel pretty high on some teams we haven't really talked about.

  Speaker 3: Let's let's go to a couple of these teams. One,

  Speaker 3: let's go to Washington and what's going on at at Washington.

  Speaker 3: When we talk about the Pack or the Big the

  Speaker 3: Big Ten formerly of the Big PAC twelve, the old
• 5:10
  Speaker 3: PAC twelve, Washington is a team we don't talk a
• 5:13
  Speaker 3: whole lot about. I mean, obviously they're in the northwest
• 5:16
  Speaker 3: portion of the of the country. They've had some success, Uh,
• 5:20
  Speaker 3: not the success that Oregon has had since they've come over.
• 5:22
  Speaker 3: I know Oregon course kind of leads those PAC twelve teams.
• 5:25
  Speaker 3: But when you read a lot of excerpts over the
• 5:27
  Speaker 3: off season, there are some pundits that feel pretty good
• 5:30
  Speaker 3: about this Washington team.

  Speaker 1: What do you see them?
• 5:33
  Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I think, Look, it's a really good program.
• 5:36
  Speaker 4: We know they've had moments, you know, even recent ones.

  Speaker 4: Was the biggest reason why Caitlin da Borg got the
• 5:44
  Speaker 4: job at at Alabama. But you know, they've they've had
• 5:48
  Speaker 4: a lot of success in over their history.

  Speaker 2: Uh.

  Speaker 4: And I just I think they've got one of the
• 5:54
  Speaker 4: better quarterbacks in the Big Ten. Uh. They just got
• 5:57
  Speaker 4: a very difficult schedule that's going to be the biggest challenge.

  Speaker 4: But but let me say this, if they play well
• 6:05
  Speaker 4: against that schedule, Uh, they're gonna get a lot of notice.

  Speaker 4: So you know, it's just a little disappointing that they
• 6:12
  Speaker 4: got to play the the Apple Cup game in September now,
• 6:15
  Speaker 4: but they they'll they'll win that, I think, and then
• 6:18
  Speaker 4: they will open up, uh with the four wins I think,
• 6:23
  Speaker 4: to beat Minnesota and then they'll get into USC Iowa
• 6:28
  Speaker 4: and then you know, at the end of the year,
• 6:30
  Speaker 4: Penn State, Indiana, Oregon, those are in. That Washington Oregon
• 6:34
  Speaker 4: game is very underrated. I think people in our part
• 6:38
  Speaker 4: of the country don't realize what a great rivalry that is.

  Speaker 4: That's a bigger rivalry game for Washington than it is
• 6:47
  Speaker 4: Washington State. I mean, you know, they they the Oregon.
• 6:49
  Speaker 4: The hate between Washington and Oregon is is big time.
• 6:53
  Speaker 4: So it's a tough schedule, particularly down the stretcher, and
• 6:57
  Speaker 4: they're gonna have to play, you know, Penn State and
• 7:00
  Speaker 4: November than in the end up late November, Indiana and Oregon.

  Speaker 4: They'll earn their way in if they're able to get in.

  Speaker 3: what he may change and what he could bring for Michigan,

  Speaker 3: and then you know, Utah flips uh, you know, finally

  Speaker 3: out of the you know, it was Dan Bullin and

  Speaker 3: then Kyle Whittingham for a long time, Utah under a
• 7:31
  Speaker 3: different leadership as well.

  Speaker 1: Well.

  Speaker 4: I think he's been one of the best coaches in
• 7:38
  Speaker 4: the country and has had one of the I think
• 7:41
  Speaker 4: the best developmental program in the country. I mean, I

  Speaker 4: think Iowa under Kurt Farrens would be in the other
• 7:49
  Speaker 4: and there's been a couple of more, but but the
• 7:51
  Speaker 4: consistency of how good Utah has been. It's gonna get
• 7:54
  Speaker 4: more difficult for him though, because the conference is more challenging.

  Speaker 4: Schedule weekend in week out is going to be more challenging.

  Speaker 4: But look the guy, I mean, tell me if this
• 8:05
  Speaker 4: doesn't sound like Michigan. The guy forches good physical defense,

  Speaker 4: good line of scrimmage, play run the football, just bring
• 8:16
  Speaker 4: your your your lunch pale on defense. I mean, that's
• 8:19
  Speaker 4: Michigan football. Being able to recruit maybe a different level
• 8:24
  Speaker 4: of player that may be, you know, and he's doing
• 8:27
  Speaker 4: a pretty good job thus far, but no, that's gonna
• 8:31
  Speaker 4: be the key is can they you know, get that

  Speaker 4: maybe that next level player, because what he did at

  Speaker 4: Utah he recruited guys that that they developed him into
• 8:41
  Speaker 4: really good players, but they were not the elite players.

  Speaker 4: Get Oklahoma at home on in September, then late the
• 8:50
  Speaker 4: September they got Iowa and go to Minnesota. They again

  Speaker 4: got Penn State, Indiana, and then you have to go
• 8:56
  Speaker 4: to Oregon, have to go to Ohio State this year.

  Speaker 4: So it's they're more roadblocks than he had at Utah.

  Speaker 4: But he's got more resources and I think better talent

  Speaker 4: than Michigan. I think he's gonna be fine. I think

  Speaker 4: he's gonna be very, very tough and have a lot

  Speaker 4: of success. I just don't know at his age, I've

  Speaker 4: known cow for I just I was a little bit

  Speaker 4: surprised him doing it. He obviously wanted it, maybe a

  Speaker 4: different challenge. I just don't know that this is you know,

  Speaker 4: this is not He's not gonna be coaching there, you know,

  Speaker 4: seven eight years. I mean, he's this is not gonna

  Speaker 4: be a long term situation. Brand although I mean, what

  Speaker 4: is a long term job in college football? Though nobody

  Speaker 4: stays very long. But he's up at an age where

  Speaker 4: you know it's gonna be interesting to see what he

  Speaker 4: can do in the next three years.
